Unsung Hero Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of an "Unsung Hero" can be a challenging yet rewarding task.
The difficulty lies not only in the need for exceptional writing skills but also in the depth of
understanding required to do justice to the topic. Unlike more conventional essay subjects, this
theme demands a keen eye for recognizing the often overlooked contributions of individuals
who, despite their significant impact, remain unnoticed by the masses.
To successfully navigate this topic, one must delve into research, seeking out individuals whose
stories resonate with the essence of an unsung hero. The challenge lies not just in presenting
factual information but in capturing the spirit of these individuals, their struggles, and their
triumphs in a way that captivates the reader. It necessitates the ability to weave a compelling
narrative, infusing it with empathy and insight to bring the unsung hero to life on the pages.
Furthermore, the task involves striking a delicate balance between admiration and objectivity.
The essay must avoid descending into mere eulogizing, but rather, it should provide a nuanced
perspective that highlights both the hero's strengths and limitations. Finding this equilibrium
requires a skillful touch and a deep understanding of the complexities inherent in portraying real-
life figures.
Moreover, the writing process for such an essay demands a heightened sensitivity to the
emotional undertones of the narrative. To truly honor an unsung hero, the words must resonate
with authenticity and convey a genuine appreciation for the impact these individuals have had
on their communities or society at large.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of an "Unsung Hero" is a formidable undertaking
that goes beyond the conventional bounds of essay composition. It necessitates a combination of
research, empathy, and narrative skill to bring forth a compelling and authentic portrayal of
individuals whose stories deserve to be heard. While challenging, the process offers an
opportunity for personal growth and a deeper understanding of the power of human resilience
and compassion.

Osiris
Osiris is an Egyptian God. He is the son of the sky goddess Nut and the earth God
Geb. Through the Egyptian history Osiris has been given different names because he
is able to change his presence. He is the god of the underworld, god of the afterlife,
god of transition, resurrection, and regeneration. After death Egyptians believed that
their soul will be judge in front of the Ambush and Osiris. Where they will weight
their soul against a feather and depending on the weight the gods were able to come
to decisions. Like many other Gods of Egypt Osiris is represented as a pharaohs that
is wearing a crown while he is holding a crook and fail in his hand. It is also said that
Osiris
Osiris is represented as wearing a plumed crown, holding a crook and flail. Which
shows his kingship and ruler of the underworld. He is also represented as having a
green skin deity with a pharaoh s beard. The name Osiris translate to as powerful
or mighty. This is powerful because he is the god that live in the darkness and
judge the souls. He is ready to burst out of darkness into the light as reincarnation.
He is represented as god that clears his path from darkness to light and come to life.
However Osiris was killed by his younger brother Set and brought back to life by his
sister wife Isis. The myth of Osiris and the gods involved in the creation became the
foundation of the Egyptian culture. He is associated
The Ethics Of The Accounting Profession
Ethics are a decision one makes in knowing the right thing to do and essentially
doing the right thing. They are the rules of behavior based on one s belief of what
is morally good and bad. A person may hear the word ethics and immediately think
of government or the law. Not only does ethics have a role in government, it also
plays a major role in business, including accounting. Schroeder, Clark Cathey (624)
states that the reason for a high level of ethical conduct is the need for public
confidence in the quality of services provided by the profession. Ethical conduct not
only encourages a high standard of performance; it also encourages a high quality of
professional service. Enrons financial scandal put a huge damper on that confidence.
The Enron scandalmade the public aware and conscientious of what could happen
when dealing with unethical individuals. Since then, the public has educated
themselves and are continually becoming more informed. Ethicsin the accounting
profession is not going away, it will only continue to change as business transaction
change and become more complex.
Although some behaviors are legal they may not be held as ethical. For example,
Henry Blodgett, an analyst for Merrill Lynch, publicly recommend certain technology
stocks, although he knew they were a sham (Smith, 2012). His recommendation of
these stocks was unethical, but completely legal. One difference between the court
system and judging ethical standards is the court system
My First Semester Of Senior Year
Twyla Gene Mrs. Caffey AP English 12 December 9, 2014 What Comes Next First
semester of senior year is coming to an end. The graduation countdown has started.
During my freshman year, I couldn t imagine myself getting this far. To this day, I
challenge myself to everything I can do. Whenever I fall, I get back up. The past
few years, I started to see what the real world truly looks like. I learned the real
world is difficult, but the only way to get further is to accept the challenge I am
given. The world has many interesting things and adventures to explore. As well as,
discovering what career path I should follow. However, I have selected three
careers I would like to major in. I started looking into film/video editing, physical
therapy, and automotive engineering. By selecting these three, I believe I can find
my true passion to help the world. Also, what I would love to do my entire life.
My first selection to investigate is a film/video editor. Since my freshman year, I
was drawn to Mrs. Novell s multimedia class. Also, I knew a lot about computers. I
would love to work on projects with the computers and on posters. I would help my
mom with projects. Working with special equipment and Apple s Final Pro Cut
sounded fun. A film/video editor has many responsibilities like interviewing people,
getting footage, adding sound and effects to get everyone s attention, cutting out
unnecessary clips, and making sure the video is running correctly by the deadline

Ocean Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies
A symbol is anything that represents an object, an idea, a character, an action, or an
animal in the story. Many times, these symbols signify something conceptual, like
a force of nature, a condition of the world, or an idea. In the book, Lord Of The
Flies, there are many symbols that signify the beginning or end of something new
in the story. For example, the island and the ocean, the water current flowing
backwards, and the beast all symbolize a new change and realization to the story.
The island and the ocean symbolize an uncharted, untouched area, the indefinite
and endless nature of life that can change from calm to chaos in seconds, and, also,
strength, tranquility, and stability. The island and the ocean symbolize both a
paradise and also the destructive nature of humanity. The island can symbolize a
Garden of Eden, a pristine and bountiful place where the boys can begin anew. In
the beginning of the book, Jack says, we are going to have fun on this island
(Golding 104). The boys really did think of this island as a paradise, or at least
Jack did. However, much like the biblical Garden of Eden, paradise can be
suddenly lost when the boys are enticed by evil. The advent of the boys pollutes
the sanctity of the island, as did the advent of Satan and the eventual temptation of
Eve and loss and innocence ( Lauryn Galloway ). The pristine paradise is set on fire
by the boys and everything gets destroyed but luckily it saved them because a ship
saw the smoke. The ocean can symbolize the incessant and endless nature of life
but it also symbolizes becoming astray and then finding one s way through life.
The ocean is a boundless space isolating the boys from all they once knew about
the world. But after Simon dies and gets washed out into the sea, the ocean
symbolizes all good getting washed away, getting replaced by evil. Simon becomes
the good bygone and Jack becomes the evil washing over. But the island and the
ocean aren t the only symbols in the book. The water current flowing backwards, that
deceives many into thinking it is just a detail, actually symbolizes more. The water
current flowing backwards can symbolize many things. It could be giving the subtle
impression that civilization may be
Use Of The Ipod As A Hard Disk Essay
How can we use the iPod as a hard disk. Many at times our iPods are used as our
storage devices on a certain level. The mode with which we use the iPod to store is
to contain our music playlist, podcasts and some videos. We can also try making an
iPod disk by manually configuring the device s settings. Making an iPoddisk simply
means making your iPod as a hard disk device. You can also use your iPod as a hard
disk to store files, back up your important data or transfer files from one computer to
another.
It is more effective to manually put an iPod in Disk Mode when trouble shooting an
issues with your iPod. There are various ways of doing this, depending on the model
and generation of the iPod.
Setting Up your iPod Touch.
With the iPod touch, simple, clear and precise steps are outlined below so as to
guide you into placing your iPod into a functioning Disk Mode. Step 1.
Connect your iPod it to your computer, then open iTunes if it doesn t do so
automatically.
Step 2.
Locate your iPod in the Source list, then select the iPod Options button at the
bottom right of the iTunes window which opens the iPod tab of iTunes
preferences. it is now already set to work as a hard disk. All you have to do is drag
files to the iPod s icon on your desktop, for Mac and Windows explorer for the
Windows users. You may also want to uncheck Open iTunes when this iPod is
attached, so you don t have to worry about iTunes getting in your way each time you
want to connect the iPod and
What Is The Picture Of Dorian Gray Gothic
Oscar Wilde presents the use of gothic literature in his novel, The Picture of Dorian
Gray. Gothic literature is a genre of literature where elements of gloom and horror are
often used. For instance, deaths, murders, and curses are all examples of what could
occur in a gothic novel. The Picture of Dorian Gray is an example gothic literature by
means of gothic conventions being portrayed through characters, in settings, and
during events. Gothic conventions are being portrayed through characters throughout
the novel. For instance, Lord Henry Wotton is being used to represent the devil, a
gothic convention. At the beginning when Lord Henry is introduced, he is seen to be
a wicked and cunning man who uses his talents of persuasion to seduce... Show more

There is not logical or reasonable explanation for why the picture ages while
Dorian himself does not. However, the most supernatural event occurs when
Dorian dies and ...hanging upon the wall was a splendid portrait of [Dorian] as
they had last seen him...exquisite youth and beauty...lying on the floor was a dead
man... [Dorian] was withered, wrinkled, and loathsome of visage (229). Dorian
stabs the portrait not himself; however, it is magical that the portrait recovers to
its original state while Dorian dies with a knife in his heart. The aging portrait
shows a sense of supernatural forces which is known as a gothic convention. Along
with the painting showing a sense of magic per say, the yellow book Lord Henry
gives to Dorian also is an example of a magical object used in the novel. The
yellow book fascinates Dorian through means of forgetting how time was going
and allowing all the sins of the world to pass before him. The sense of magic can
be seen when Wilde relates the yellow book to be sort of an obsession and shares
that Dorian could not free himself from its influences. The yellow book has a magical
power over Dorian creating the gothic literature
Mount Baker in Bellingham, Washington Essay
I decided for my project that I would spend the time researching Mount Baker.
Mount Baker is located about 30 miles east of Bellingham, Washington. The Cascade
Mountain range extends over 140 miles between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver,
Canada. Mount Baker is a Stratovolcano, which is also known as a composite
volcano, it is also the highest peak in the North Cascades and the fifth highest in the
Cascade mountain range (Volcano Hazards Programs). Cities located near Mount
Bakerinclude Abbotsford, British Columbia and Bellingham, Washington. The closest
stream to the mountain is the Nooksack River which runs near the west side of the
mountain. On the southwest side of the mountain is Baker Lake. I chose this area
because it is a very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I looked out the window, I saw walls of rocks all over the place. I also saw a lot of
good rock exposure on the top of the mountain where the rock was to steep for the
snow to stick to. You will notice that Mount Baker has an abundance of all sorts of
rocks. From the rocks I examined I observed a lot of extrusive igneous rock,
metamorphic rock and sedimentary rocks and you will find few places where you
can walk continuously from shale or basalt into well metamorphosed gneiss (Tabor
Haugerud). I observed rocks such as gabbro, shale, and types of extrusive and
intrusive igneous rock such as basalt. The ages of the rocks range from about as old
as the mountain, which is about 140,000 years old.
Structures:
When you look at a topographic map of Mount Baker, you will notice many
different structures and interesting landforms. The first thing I noticed when I was
observing the map were all the different peaks within the mountain. From what I
have been reading I have found two major faults that are within Mount Baker. These
two faults are the Straight Creek Fault and the Ross Lake Fault Zone; these faults
are thought to be primarily strike slip. In addition, on the geologic map you will
notice the Sherman Crater, which originated from a large hydrovolcanic explosion
(Tabor, Haugerud, Hildreth, Brown). This crater is responsible for many of Mount
Bakers past lahars that have flowed down the mountain and into Baker Lake. The
pattern of hills, valleys, ridges, and
Lady Gaga Fame
Exploring Lady Gaga s Possible Reactions to Loss of Fame Fame is a condition
that allows an individual to be known by many people, especially on account of
notable achievements. Fame allows an individual to have super powers in a way
because famous individuals are usually exempt from the rules that govern others
(Smalley McIntosh, 386). Emily Dickinson has described fame precisely by labeling
it as a fickle food , meaning, it is constantly shifting (Smalley McIntosh, 385). In
today s media based society, fame is constantly shifting from one person to another
quickly. Therefore, the constant shifting of fame puts many celebrities in vulnerable
positions after the loss of fame. The article by Smalley and McIntosh explores how

These accomplishments of Lady Gaga suggest that she was dedicated to music
from very early age and focused on it consistently through her life to gain the fame.
Smalley and McIntosh mentioned that due to the nature of cognitive dissonance,
the harder a person works to attain a goal, the more attractive and hence valuable
that goal will be to that individual (p. 395). They further stated that the person
would react more negatively to loss of fame after working hard to be successful (p.
395).On the flip side, Lady Gaga may try to cling to her image of the monster to
receive the attention from the general public and to remain in lime light. Smalley
and McIntosh specify that clinging is usually seen in individuals famous for
representing particular personas. The authors also mention that after the loss of
fame the celebrity finds it difficult or impossible to gain recognition apart from that
role. Thus the celebrity clings to the role, incorporating it into his/her life (Smalley
McIntosh, 388). Click, Lee and Holladay explain that in modern day the term
monster can be applied to individuals who represent deviation from the status quo
(p. 365). Lady Gaga is known for her unique and weird sense of fashion. She has
many times grabbed news headlines just for her choices of costumes beginning from
meat dress costume to blow up metallic star costume and many more. However,
besides her costumes, she has also provided great music and performances which
have contributed to her continuous fame. After the loss of fame Lady Gaga may try
to grab public s attention by continuously presenting herself as a monster. In simpler
terms Lady Gaga may cling to her image of the monster and continually appear in
eccentric costumes to grab public attention and

Anglo saxon culture
One of the first things you have to take note on the culture and characterization
that is taken from the poem. In the epic poem Beowulf case, we can see what the
ideal hero was of that time. He is brave, honorable, respectful of his father and
ancestors, a great warrior, and believes his good deeds and great victories were to
never be forgotten.
The culture of Germanic men was was the setting for Beowulf. The story begins with
Beowulf himself, king of the greats, when he comes to the aid of the aging king of
Danes, Hrothgar. It follows from the crowning achievements to his untimely death.
Even though the poem of Beowulf centers around Hubris, the story line relies heavily
on the environment and culture of the Germanic people.
There are four major aspects to take into consideration about Germanic culture.
Paganism was the major religion for Germanis to practice, this took numerous
forms in each section of the Germanic world. The religion was more nature based
that also intertwined with european rituals as well. They worshiped gods of nature
and some of them had many similarities to other cultures gods. For example,
Germanic god Wodan and Donar, were very similar to the Norse gods Odin, and
Thor. Also strongly present in their culture was bards, men who would sing tales to
the village or anyone who would hear to tell the great ... Show more content on

The most accurate time period in which the poem was written is believed to be
around 5th or 6th century. Our language that is spoken today, is very closely related
to a mix of Germanic and Old English then later on in the centuries, french and latin
came into the picture as the second dominate language. Beowulf was written in a
language heavily influenced by the Anglo Saxon language from the time, even
though the language was never formally written down in

If you want to make more money than the average rodeo cowboy, it is best to
develop impressive skills in a variety of events so that you can compete more
frequently and with better results at each event. Also the preparation for each rodeo
involves physical training, research, and prayer. Other ways you can get hurt or
killed is being pinned up against the fence, your foot getting caught up in the sturrup,
or even getting caught underneath the bull s hooves, and or also hit by the horns. It

Persuasive Essay On The First Flight
When Miguel appeared at the flight school where I was an instructor, there was no
indication of the relationship we would develop or of the adventures to come. I
would have laughed at anyone crazy enough to suggest that within a year he and I
would pilot a single engine plane from Phoenix, Arizona to Santiago, Chile. No
one could have predicted that along the way a woman in a remote village would
try to give us her baby or that we would find ourselves buzzing an airstrip to chase
away festival celebrants so we could land. The school offered a lesson called An
Intro Flight. Even though it wasn t really a lesson, the school advertised it as such
and offered it at a discount. The owners were hoping to entice people who d never
been up in a small plane to try the experience. Of course, the reason behind the
lesson was the belief that after the flight, people would fall in love with flying and
sign up for a series of lessons. The promotion was a joke. Earning a private pilot s
license involves 40 or more hours of flight time, qualifying grades on written
examinations, and passing a practical application test known as a check ride. There
is also an oral exam. Oh, and the cost exceeds $5,000. With one exception, people
attracted by the $35.00 lesson never signed up for another at full price; so they
certainly wouldn t commit to the additional time, effort, and expense of earning a
certificate. Unlike most schools, filled with teenagers dreaming of growing up to be

Disneyland Vs Disneyland
Which amusement park do you prefer Disneyland or Six Flags Magic Mountain?
Even though, both of these amusement parks are very much enjoyable, everyone
has a preference. While one is labeled as the happiest place on earth, the other is
just as fun, or is it? Disneyland and Six Flags Magic Mountain are both filled with
rides, food, and entertainment; however, I believe one of these amusement parks
does a little better job at making your experience unforgettable. Disneyland offers
awesome rides, delicious food, and breathtaking entertainment. I believe
Disneyland is true to its slogan and is the happiest place on earth because
whenever I find myself there I am always having a great time. The rides at
Disneyland are so enjoyable and delightful; however, most of their rides were
created to accommodate infants and children, so many of them are slow moving or
digital. Nevertheless, while this does not worsen your experience, you do sometimes
miss out on that roller coasterthrill that you would feel on a typical ride. For
example, the rides that are slow moving or digital include It s a Small World, Buzz
Lightyear Astro Blasters, Pirates of the Caribbean, and so on. Disneyland s targeted
guests are children and adults of all ages. Disneyland has many rides that are
accessible to infants and children, and many rides that are targeted more toward
teenagers and adults. Disneyland also offers plenty of entertainment that is meant for

Pedagogical Reflection
Over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed a variety of pedagogical decisions my
teacher uses. She teaches a lot of her lessons in a whole group setting. Furthermore,
within the whole groups settings she teaches a lot of rules and content. For example,
the students were reading The Eye of the Storm , which is about a storm chaser
travelling to Florida to capture and document Hurricane Andrew. She questioned the
students about what he does for a living. The students answered a storm chaser;
however, the teacher then asked why he would choose a career that is potentially
dangerous. One student said, I think he chose this career because his job could tell us
how dangerous the storm is, and he could compare this storm to future storms and...

In some cases, she makes her own worksheets because she believes the book didn t
cover enough. This results in rote learning and memorization by the students.
However, about a third of her worksheets, she allows the students to work in partners.
When the students interact with each other, they learn from one another and gain
ideas and knowledge about the particular topic. For example, the students were
working on equivalent fractions. They started working on worksheets individually,
but as a whole group lecture and practice. The students then moved around the room
to work with partners. The teacher handed out manipulatives (foam fractions) to help
them understand equivalent fractions once they moved to partners. Some of the
students weren t really getting the concept of equivalent fractions, but once they were
partnered up the students were starting to get it. They were bouncing ideas off of
each other and started to really get the concept. After about twenty minutes, the
teacher asked the students to go back to their seat so they could go over the
worksheet. The students had a lot of the answers correct. However, the teacher
introduced a concept about multiplying to get equivalent fractions. She just stated the
rule and asked the students to quickly multiply the fractions and figure out the
equivalent. I disagreed with this method, because the students had a really tough time

Sleeping with the Enemy
In the movie Sleeping With the Enemy, Laura Burns, is living a life that many
would describe as perfect. Laura lives in a beautiful mansion on the coast with her
handsome, wealthy husband Martin. This wealth allows Laura the opportunity to
stay at home rather than working outside of the home. However, behind closed
doors this perfect life is very different from what the outside world sees. Laura is
constantly being beaten, ridiculed, and criticized by her husband. Martin is
obsessed about keeping the house in perfect order. He is easily set off by simple
things such as a towel being out of line, or a can out of place in the cupboard. Upon
him discovering that things are out of order, he resorts to severely beating Laura. The

Regardless of the reasons behind why Laura does things the way that she does, I
believe that this movie accurately portrays this issue that is faced by survivors of

was the psychological problems associated with survivors of spousal abuse. Walllace
discusses that often woman suffer from such things as posttraumatic stress syndrome,
depression and other symptoms that inhibit their ability to function within society.
In addition the Department of Justice Canada states that abuse may affect virtually
every aspect of an abused person s life. It can harm their physical and mental
health, their ability to work, and their relationship with their children and loved
ones In this movie Laura does not appear to be suffering from such things, in fact
she seems to be coping very well, with the exception of the not trusting others, and
not wanting to enter into another relationship. These mental issues are an important
part of spousal abuse that I feel should have been portrayed more in this movie, in
order for the audience to fully understand the wide variety of possible consequences
of abuse. When looking at how this movie portrays Martin, I believe that it covers
some very common areas that can lead to spousal abuse. First

Cultural Religions In Ancient China
In ancient china there were two main cultural religions. These were Taoism and
Buddhism. Taoism is China s oldest religion. At one time, the land called China
was the home of numerous peoples with different racial origins. All these ethnic
groups probably had their own special gods and religious beliefs. Over time,
kingdoms and empires grew in various areas and started incorporating more and
more people into them. One common theme in these kingdoms and empires was a
belief in life after death as can be seen in ancient tombs all over China. So people had
to pay homage to and care for the dead. Some Chinese have fear of the dead, and
they try to obey the dead or appease them. Another idea that is very strong in Chinese

principle, and labels this his verification criteria. Popper s method is based on
whether a theory has empirical content which is the set of all possible excluded
events proposed by a theory. The question is, is it possible to agree with both of
these criteria? I would say no. The above criteria, by themselves, are not enough to
govern demarcation. Both of these, while necessary, are not sufficient enough to
conclude that a certain theory is scientific. Examining logical examples as well as
historical events revels how these theories disagree with each other and are limited...

The sun could not rise and be replaced with another celestial body and the theory
would still be scientific according to Carnap s criteria. Let us consider an example
from history. Consider the Phlogiston theory. This is a rather ancient, now disproven,
theory arising in the 17th century that is the predecessor to the theory of combustion.
The theory states that all combustible bodies contain Phlogiston. Upon burning, these
bodies release Phlogiston to the air. The air can hold a finite amount of Phlogiston
after which it is completely phlogisticated and no longer supports burning of a
material. Carnap would consider this theory unscientific as it cannot be tested. At the
time, there was no way to quantify or measure Phlogiston. No instruments existed at
that time period that could have been used to measure Phlogiston which makes the
theory unscientific. Who was to say what substances possess and do not possess
Phlogiston since it could not be measured? On the other hand, Popper would argue
that the theory is scientific as it has empirical content, it excludes non combustible
bodies from having Phlogiston.
Let us consider a case where both Carnap and Popper would agree. Compare the
Phlogiston theory to modern chemistry and combustion. Both Carnap and Popper
would agree that combustion is scientific. Calorimeters exist that can measure heat
released from chemical reactions quite easily. Combustion also lays out what happens

High School Football Game Analysis
On September 18, 2015 there was a football game at The King s Academy High
School in Sunnyvale California. Many of the men and women in attendance were
there to support either a child, sibling, or classmate as they played their second game
of the season. What typically goes on at these games is that the players play the game
while the spectators watch and cheer for their team. In addition to the players and
spectators, there are also coaches and officials who s job is to make sure that the
players run the plays correctly and do not break any rules in the process. Volunteers
are often standing at the gates taking tickets and in the snack bar area cooking food

the players from the public school were wearing the same jerseys that the program

a role in the outcome of the game there were larger differences that almost certainly
did play a role. The private school is a college prep high school that has very high
standards when it comes to academics and students that very rarely have trouble
meeting those standards. The public school had a number of players ineligible due
to their low grade point averages. This difference between the two schools most
certainly played a role in the size of the teams, the players on the field, and the
discipline with which the players played the
French Revolution Dbq Essay
During the Great Terror of the French Revolution, chaos erupted everywhere. King
Louis XVI had been overthrown and was replaced with the National Convention,
causing a large wave of mass paranoia between the people. Such paranoia included
being against the National Convention and the Revolution as a whole and the
consequence was getting guillotined. Many leaders that tried to step up and take
charge were ultimately forced off of power and an example of this was Robespierre,
where he was guillotined for being suspected as a rebel even though he was the one
the executions. This mass paranoia eventually led to the Dechristianization of France,
where Deism was picked up as Frances unofficial religion. In an attempt to completely

The biggest reason that many were against it was because of communication. In
Abbe Sieyes response to the Committee of Public Instruction s proposal for a new
calendar, he talked about how France s practices with neighboring countries, such
as trade or politics, would be extremely difficult to plan (Doc 2). It even made
confusion within France itself because of the way the four months were named.
Some of the month names made sense, such as the northern part of France having
snow during the snow months but the confusing part was that the southern parts of
France having none because of its slightly warmer climate. Because of this
inaccurate naming scheme, it caused mass confusion both within France and its
neighboring countries (Doc 3) Another example of why some were against the new
calendar was because it seen as an act of tyranny from the National Convention.
According to Pierre Joseph Denis, a former Girondin that was imprisoned during the
Great Terror and recalled to the National Convention, he stated that this new
calendar was an act of despotism and unfair since it was being forced upon the
people and that some of the festivals were detestable and silly. Pierre Joseph
criticizes the National Convention for discarding the religion of their fathers and
previous generations and putting Robespierre at the top of authority in Deism (Doc

child s gender but they just brush it off. This all started when Jazz, born a boy,
decided he liked girlish items. Many have said they are leading their children s
lives to a life full of bullying and ridicule. Witterick and Stocker believe they are
giving their children the freedom of being who they want to be.
Stocker noticed that all parents make decisions for their children, he has let their
children pick out their clothes since 18 months. The parents only want to help their
children make decisions for themselves. The most similar developmental theory to
compare to this scenario would be Talcott Parsons, creator of structural functionalism.
He believed that society will create structures within itself that will assist with its
fundamental functioning requirements. In this case, as Storm grows and decides

Dualist View On Identity
Identity criteria are a main component of who a person actually is, central elements
of how someone sees who they are and essential properties are urged to determine a
person s identity. How philosophers view the soul is essential one s personality. The
duelists believe that wherever the soul goes, that s where the mindgoes. The dualists
view is based off of the fact that there is more to our brain and ourselves than just the
physical aspect, the soulstrongly supports this claim. Materialism argues against
the duelists because they only believe in the physical component of the world, in
their eyes a soul does not exist. Lastly, in the psychological view, John Locke
implemented memory into personal identity. Leibniz and Reid challenged Locke s
ideas and came up with a reasonable conclusion. Personal identity can be defined is
through identity theft, but it is the central elements of how someone perceives
themselves to determine who they actually are. One is that a single soul, one and
the same, has been with this body I call mine since it was born. The other is that
one soul was associated with it until five years ago and then another,
psychologically similar, inheriting all the old memories and beliefs, took over. A
third hypothesis is that every five years a new soul takes over. A fourth is that every
five minutes a new soul takes over Weirob views souls by being able to move from
one body to the next without us knowing, the duelists strongly disagree with this
theory.
How To Reduce Textbook Prices Benefit College Students
Textbook prices have reached outrageously high numbers! Today there are many
college students who are struggling in making a decision between paying for their
rent, or paying for their college textbooks. This has also limited students abilities to
attend classes which require expensive textbooks. However, there are multiple ways
to help make college textbooks more affordable for all students. Some examples
include using open online resources, and textbooks made by colleges and
universities, or even a combination of the two. Tennessee can be a leader in making
education affordable while also making a great investment in students who are the
future of the United States and the world. All of which, can be done by helping to
reduce the high costs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tennessee has already passed laws to make professors aware of textbook prices
(Friedl 1). However, with forced new editions of textbooks, the prices are renewed,
and used books are unavailable. Education is a great investment because it
generally helps people to earn higher income which in return, will allow people to
pay higher amounts of money in taxes. A great way the state of Tennessee can help
reduce costs of textbooks is by removing sales tax on textbooks. Sure, 9.25% is not
a very high percentage. However, 9.25% of $900 is roughly eighty four dollars.
Eighty four dollars is enough to buy an additional textbook that could be used for
another class. Regulations should be set in place to encourage companies to charge
less for textbooks, and to slow down the high rate of textbook price inflation.
Examples of regulations to be considered include the following: a required
percentage of content changes and/or updates in new textbook editions, and taxing
textbook publishers based on profit margins of textbooks. While the second
regulation may seem extreme, with it, textbook publishers will be encouraged to
keep profits low to avoid paying higher tax
Causes Of The Second Triumvirate
The Second Triumvirate existed from 43 B.C. to 33 B.C. The Second Triumvirate
lasted for only ten years. The Second Triumvirate years were filled with a variety of
battles between the three men. Rome will fall with the new Triumvirate because the
people have been deceived and have faced many troubles, the Triumviratehas tasted
power and are greedy for more, and the three men in the Triumvirate mistrust and
dislike each other. The Triumvirate stealing from the public s fortune shows their lack
of morals and concern for Rome. Before the war against the conspirators started,
Mark Antonycommanded Lepidus to fetch the will (4.1.11) in order to see how
they would cut some charge in legacies (4.1.12). Some may say Antony took the
money to help protect the people of Rome. However, Mark Antony used the poor,
naive, confused public to ensure he got revenge on Brutus and the conspirators.
Antony sparked the fire to start this war in order to get revenge and will use the
people s money to get revenge, not to protect. In addition, the Triumvirate has no
respect for human life. Their lack of sympathy towards the deaths of soldiers and
civilians showed their inconsideration for them. They simply said that they shall not
live (4.1.9) and that they are damn[ed] (4.1.9). Others may say that they didn t hold
significant consideration towards their death because it is normal for people to die
in a war. Yet, the war was initiated by Mark Antony and his thirst for revenge. He is

Diesel Mechanics Essay
Diesel mechanics have a large effect on most everything that people do. Diesel
technology is very similar to gasoline engine systems, yet diesel is not quite as
popular. These mechanics repair the engines in many vehicles and machines that
help keep people s lives comfortable and get the products that desire to the places
that they shop. Most people do not even know what diesel mechanics do; some
duties and training are similar to gasoline engine mechanics, but some differences
apply in training and technique. Their working conditions vary depending on their
place of employment, but the future of diesel mechanics is bright. Diesel
mechanics train extensively to efficiently and thoroughly repair the complex
systems in various types of diesel machinery. Diesel mechanics would be without a

The American President Obama And The United States Of

The American President Barack Hussein Obama and other leading government

enough to keep Ebola from entering America. Specifically, accusing the American
leadership of today lacking in its obligation by not placing the welfare of their
citizens first before their own personal agendas. The protective measures that were
implemented to defend against the spread of Ebola to the United Statesof America
have somewhat failed. The President did verbally assure all Americans that he and
the rest of American leaders have its citizen s safety as a number one priority.
Obama stated, America will do everything in its power to ensure that the virus is
contained in Liberia and West Africa; this was perceived as a faulty since Thomas
Duncan, was able to penetrate the barriers that were set in place, and brought Ebola
to Dallas, Texas (Obama America Will Ensure, 2014). To expand on this perceived
falsehood the government then decided to send healthy American citizens to the

Yunnan Luck Air Case Study Essay
1. What are Yunnan Lucky Air s best options?
Luck Air had a great business model, and that was to follow the same model as
Southwest Airlines in the United States. Because Luck Air is considered a
domestic airline in China they operate on a small scale compared to major
competitors and so it made economical sense to offer low cost, high efficiency to
their customers. In 2007 Lucky Air was able to more than double the amount of
passengers from the year before by using a low cost tactic. However other airlines
have also caught on to offering low cost fares for domestic routes to their

Of the total travel market only 1% was generated from the online travel market, and
consumers still depended on customer call centers to confirm payment status. To
counteract the risks it is important that Lucky Air create an effective business
consumer business model that will do the obvious and draw consumers to their site
and make an online purchase of airfare. To draw in consumers Lucky Air will need to
focus on Web 2.0, which is the unique feature or features of e commerce and the
Internet coming together as applications and social media technologies. Web 2.0 will
allow for a better online experience with inter human connections, consumer
interacted blogs and the staff to constantly monitor the site to provide consumer
feedback. Web 2.0 is crucial to providing customer relationship management.
Promoting reviews from consumers in regards to destinations and airline experience
are important so the consumer can feel they are important enough to expose the truth
from other consumers even negative remarks. But the single most important part of
focusing on e commerce is the ability to provide a online experience and advanced
technology that enables customer self service without the need for multiple customer
call centers. Customers should be able to pay for fares, cancel fares, use a safe
payment method that can verify a credit card, check on the status of flights and use
rewards programs
The Characteristics Of Cargo Cult Science By Richard
Feynman
Cargo cult science is a term used by Richard Feynman to describe a method or idea
that imitates the scientific process but is not done for a scientific purpose. In his
essay, The Uncertainty of Science Richard Feynman goes on to clarify that legitimate
science accounts for the uncertainties found in science: it is the search for answers and
data to support theories through experimenting and looking for faults in methods.
Cargo Cult Science, however, as Feynman explains, is science that cannot benefit
society as actual science should when used correctly. Cargo cult sciences do not
occur only amongst scientists, but by anyone who improperly uses or executes
science. There are many different types of cargo cult science that each happen for
different reasons, it can be done on accident, on purpose, or caused by neglect.
Science can be altered for some form of personal gain, it can be affected by honest
mistakes, and it can be ruined by laziness and corner cutting, these are all different
ways that cargo culting occurs. An example that Feynman uses in his Cargo Cult
Science essay is how one of his scientist friends was trying to find applications for
astronomy and cosmology. After Feynman explained that there are were, the man
replied that he needs one in order to get the support to continue his research. In this
instance, the scientist is trying to make up a reason so he can conduct further
research. This is cargo culting because a fake application can alter the way people
judge the subject: causing them to support the research that they would otherwise
ignore. Cargo cult science is as easy as producing false data or claims, using faulty
processes or experiments, and purposefully ignoring facts. It is done for multiple
reasons, honest mistakes, trying to save time or money, or involving some sort of
personal benefit: funding, money, publicity, avoiding blame, etc. Another example
that Feynman gives of cargo cult science is how everyone that ran rat running
experiments ignored the findings of Mr. Young, who had found that in order to
properly run the experiment the corridor needed to be placed in sand (Cargo Cult
Science 13). Then in The Uncertainty of Science Feynman claims that proper science

their mental and physical health even slight debt is linked to cases of emotional and

This article focuses specifically on accruing student loan debt and its affects on
mental and physical health of younger people. This is introduced by explaining that
president Barack Obama is aware of the high cost of education and that the
government is working on a way to help students avoid the accumulation of loan debt
. There is factual information regarding a study done by Northwestern University
which focused on the link between student loan debt, high blood pressure, and poor
mental health. The author of the study concluded that there were strong links
between debt and depression as well as debt and suicidal thoughts. The article then
goes into more detail about the consequences of poor mental health, such as poor
dietary choices and substance abuse. Although this article discusses one study that
was conducted on the topic, the lead author of the study, Elizabeth Sweet, suggests
that more research should be done. Sweet is planning on furthering her exploration of
debt s affects on mental and physical health in a five year study.
The information in the article is reliable and unbiased. A majority of the information
is cold, hard facts from a conducted study on the issue of mental and physical effects
of student loan debt, which is completely unbiased. The goal of the

Preservation took the stage in the early 19th century although preservation efforts
existed prior when Ann Pamela Cunningham rallied America s women to save Mt.
Vernon. Over the years, the field has followed similar patterns: save the house of a
significant person, recognize the site of an event, or memorialize a style of
architecture. Agendas and private support characterized the origins of the
preservationist s professions; while the roles and theories behind the products
morphed as time ticked along, todays modern preservation efforts rely a great deal

Some of those issues include people being at different places at different points,
the time window, the whole cell phone tower situation, and so on. Let s look at the
time frame, so basically your looking at 2:15pm to about 2:36pm: 21 minutes
which is when officers think Hae was killed. The podcast producer and reporter do
the exact route said to be taken from the high school to Best Buy, and it take them
22 minutes and 2 seconds. So yes, it s possible but not to likely. If Adnan was
capable of this he would have had to get everything perfect, assuming there was no
complications with traffic or anything like that, he would have had to kill her in
approximately a 1 minute (some argue it takes 5) that s amazing assuming 17 year
old Adnan has never killed before, let alone with his bare hands. So if the time of
death and the time of the phone calls are by chance right, it s still a super narrow
window for all of this to happen.
Another reason that leads me to believe that Adnan is innocent is the said to be

Demographic Transition From Rural to Urban Areas
From 2000 until 2030 the urbanized areas will be nearly tripled1 because of the
demographic transition from rural to urban. The use of dark building materials, such
as asphalt and concrete, leads to a lower albedo in urbanized areas than in natural
environment2, fostering local and global warming. In turn, the increase in urban
albedo might support climatestabilization efforts3. Here, we investigate the potential
effect of the increase in albedo in a representative set of European cities relying on
instantaneous radiative forcing (IRF), urban cooling and the consequent effect on
mortality, ozone formation and energy use. Apart from any geographical distinction,
cities show that the increases in albedo in compact cities have a cooling... Show more

Furthermore, we use the effect of the local variation in temperature on the heating
and cooling degree days (HDD) (CDD) as a proxy for the effect on energy use and
on the related greenhouse gas emissions. Although these indicators are not
representative of all t, they cover the most important ones. We calculate the potential
effect of the local unitary increase in albedo on IRF responsiveness (R) for a sample
of 145 cities and urbanized areas in three geographical areas: southern; central; and
northern Europe (see Methods). Low cloudiness and high solar radiation make R in
southern European cities two times higher than in other regions (see SI Table 1). The
mean R in northern European cities is slightly higher than in central European cities
with values of 46 and 45 Wm 2 respectively (Fig. 1) since cloudiness is lower in
northern Europe. This result shows that climatological features would potentially
make southern cities more effective that central and northern European ones in
counteracting climate change.
Apart from any geographical and climatological distinction, the peculiar size and the
morphological characterization of each city may play a role in affecting IRF. We

conditions in one of the nations poorest congressional districts. The book is
centered on interviews among children and their family members that live in the

among children regardless of their racial or economic background. He has published
many books portraying the declining levels of equality throughout the nation; his

Comparing Princess Mononoke And Disney Movies
They say:
When I first saw Princesses Mononoke at five, I didn t understand any conflict or
meaning of the film. Only the scene where the Forest Spirit is finding his head and
killing all the living things on earth stayed in my mind. I remember laying in my bed
that night after watching the film thinking, This movie is so scary... how nice will it
be if this princess is a Disney princess. I have believed for a long time that if Princess
Mononoke was produced by Disney, the film will be so much more successful.
I say
After becoming a young adult and rewatching Princess Mononoke again, my old
thought of the film, which was Princess Mononoke being produced by Disney will
be more successful, has twisted. The style of Studio Ghibli provided the movie the
unique, exciting, and memorable features. To be more specific, the fascinating and
well thought storyline was the most outstanding part of the film. How Hayao
Miyazaki did not separate good and evil with a clear defined line; illustrated a deeper
environmentalist message than Disney films; created an open ending which gives the
audiences more space to imagine and contemplate, are all what made the film a big
hit during the 1990s.

abyss. Once again, this is just the superficial meaning. What Holden sub consciously
means is that he wants to protect little children, that are in their childhood, from
falling into the abyss, which is the painful world of growing up and being an adult.
This shows how sentimental Holden is about childhoods and innocence, and how
adulthood is like plummeting from a cliff to your death. All he wants to do is
preserve that for other younger children. Holden then takes Phoebe to a park where
she rides the carousel several times, and Holden just sat on the bench with his red
hunting hat while it was raining. And at that moment, Holden felt sheer happiness
and smiled at his sister, wistfully, which made him feel like he accomplished his goal.

Apple Inc Economic Analysis Essay
MBUS 610 Econ Environment of the Firm 12 Apple Inc. Economic Firm Analysis
Trey III Apple Incorporated, formerly known as Apple Computers Incorporated, and
more commonly known just as Apple, has lead the way in technology and
innovation for consumer electronics with their slender storage capacities, vibrant
displays, and incredible touch screen products. When they first started, their focus
was more on personal computers for customers, but as the company has aged, so
has their focus expanded towards this idea of consumer electronics as a whole.
Seeing as they now offer popular devices including, but not limited to, computers
(Mac Book), home theater (Apple TV), phones (iPhone), tablets (iPad), and media
(iPod), it can clearly be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diversity in products and their prices helps Apple remain an inelastic company,
regarding their demand. If a price rises for one of their products, there is sure to be
another product that moves into that previous product s price range that is still
comparable in design and quality. There will always be people to buy the more
expensive items not only because of Apple s positive brand recognition and
loyalty, but because Apple consistently produces quality and innovative products;
including, if Apple finds a defect or fault, they fix the problem for free or replace
the product altogether. With Apple being so far ahead of their competition, the only
problem one can foresee in Apple s future is how long they can sustain such
innovation before they plateau. Apple does a phenomenal job at releasing their
innovative products before their competition, but if their innovation cannot hold
steady, this may lead to changes in demand for their products considerably. This
can be seen with their release of the iPhone, the first successful touch screen cellular
phone. Although people swarmed to the iPhone when it was first released because
of its advanced technology, as the years have passed, other similar designs,
including those with android and windows based operating systems, have drawn a
considerable portion of the market. A clear representation of Apple s attempt to
regain some of this market can be seen when the iPhone was released to Verizon
Wireless customers in
The Pot Noodle Inc.
The Pot Noodle was created because there was a niche in the market for a cheap
and easy product for a meal or snack. What made it slightly different from the other
products in the market was the fact that it already came in a pot which you could
pour the water straight into and eat out of it, no need for a bowl. They are slowly
bringing out new flavours to keep their current customers happy and entice new
customers. Goods and services are produced by using productive resources which
are called factors of production. These are grouped into 4 categories which are
Land, Labor, Capital, Entrepreneurship. Land is another word for natural resources,
it includes land and other things such as water and air etc. This would include the
land that is used to grow the produce needed to make the noodles. Labor is the time
and effort that people put in to creating a product. It includes mental and physical
effort and the quality depends on knowledge and skill that people have from
training. In terms of labor in the Pot Noodle it would be people such as factory
workers, or produce harvesters. Capital are the tools and machines that businesses
use to produce their good. This would be any type of machinery or tools used in
harvesting or making the product. Entrepreneurship is the idea behind organising
land, labor and capital. Entrepreneurs come up with new ideas and make business
decisions. These would include people who come up with the new flavours and how
they market their product. I
The Theme Of Sexual Hysteria In The Turn Of The Screw
The Turn of the Screw has been so often object to literary criticism as barely
another piece of literature has. The so called Freudian reading of the likes of Harold
C. Goddard, Edna Kenton, and its maybe best known figure Edmund Wilson is
probably the most remarkable interpretation. According to it the governess suffers
sexual hysteria deriving from her suppressed amorous feelings towards the master.
Unconsciously of them her fantasy conjures up the ghosts of BlyВґs former valet
Peter Quint and her predecessor Miss Jessel who want to get hold of the children. In
saving her charges the governess can ply the heroine in her made up drama to win the
attention and love of the master.
In his essay Sexual Hysteria, Physiognomical Bogeymen, and the ... Show more

Hischak (253) states referring to the 2009 BBC version of The Turn of the Screw.
And scenes like Miles revealing to the governess that the children indeed can see the
ghosts (The Turn of the Screw 1:02:32), the literal corruption of the children
becoming obvious even to Mrs. Grose by FloraВґs swearing (1:11:20), Miles actually
being taught depravity by the living Peter Quint and Miss Jessel having sex in the
boyВґs presence (1:12:10), Dr. Fisher hearing ghostly voices and spotting the
apparition of Quint on a photo of the tower, Miles being dismissed from school
because he was really spoiled by Quint (1:19:40) , and in fact the whole ending
(1:25:56) proof him right.
Writing this paper I am fully aware of these unambiguous elements and they do not
negate my work because I do not claim my interpretation to be the only valid one. I
simply wanted to show how ideas of the Freudian reading and particularly of
RennerВґs essay seem to have found their way into the BBC
Phasor Measurement Unit Essay
Large scale smart grid initiatives require fast and accurate monitoring of power
system network. Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) is one of the major components
which are increasingly deployed in the power system network to provide the
necessary infrastructure to cater smart grid requirements. PMUs provide time
synchronized measurementof voltage and current phasors (Phadke and Thorp 2008)
from different nodes of the power system network, which is used for monitoring and
control. NASPI (March 2015) and NERC (September 2016) suggest use of phasor
data from the PMUs to perform verification of dynamic models as well as validating
parameters of power plant models. A parameter identification toolbox for power
system models developed using the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mismatch in PMU measurements and dynamic simulators lead to anomalous
result for application such as event location, oscillation detection, islanding detection,
and dynamic line rating as indicated in (Zhao et al. 2015). While PMUs can measure
and time synchronize the output phasor with great accuracy, the internal signal
processing may utilize several cycles of the input signal measurements to calculate
each phasor values. Thus, even if the PMU report phasor each cycle, the
measurements is not representative of the current cycle but of a number of the
preceding and following cycles depending on the sliding window of data used for the
phasor estimation. This typically smooths out/filters faster changes that may be
present in the simulation output, rendering PMU output not comparable to simulated
response for the same disturbance when fast changing responses are present
(applicable for a very small time constant parameters in the model of the physical
system). Phasor estimation can be performed in electromagnetic simulators in which
point of wave signal is available. Phasor estimation of a point of wave signal is
applied in electromagnetic simulator using enhanced DFT based algorithm in
(Romano, Pignati, and Paolone 2015). A mechanism for streaming simulated phasors
from TSAT in C37.118 format is proposed in (Zheng, Howell, and Wang 2015).
However, these phasors do not reflect the PMU characteristics as
E. Holmes District
E. HOLMES DISTRICT It takes but a quick glance around his office at Chestnut
Ridge Elementary to realize Principal J.T. Luneborg is a fan of the Ohio State
Buckeyes. Himself a graduate of Otterbein College, Luneborg said his mother was
a Buckeye. He s been going to games since he was a young boy, and this is the first
year he can remember the family not having season football tickets to the Shoe.
Luneborg has been employed by the East Holmes Local School District for 20
years, the last 11 of which he has served as principal. The Washington Courthouse
native said he was drawn to the area after meeting his wife, Kelly, at college. She
hails from Sugarcreek. Buckeye football is far from the only sport Luneborg
enjoys. In high school, he, following in his brother s footsteps, played golf,
basketball and tennis. And, while he still quite enjoys golf, on average scoring in
the low 40s, his time on the course is limited, and Luneborg s sports interest have
shifted. He s spent several years coaching both recreational and travel softball for
his daughters, Allison, 18, and Taylor, 12. I enjoy it. I ve seen too many (coaches)
who mean well, but don t know what they re doing, said Luneborg, who enjoys
working with and teaching his players. Even today, girls he coached in the past
come up and talk to him. It s a good feeling for Luneborg, who takes pride in
influencing them enough, they come up and say, Hi. The ball field also can serve as

Needless to say that to do business in the current globalized economy, business
partners need to communicate effectively in a given language. But communication
requires much more than a solid knowledge of a language. Becoming
communicatively competent in a foreign or second language implies more than being
able to speak fluently and accurately. Being communicatively competent in a
language requires having not only good linguistic knowledge but also knowledge of
the culture that is beneath that language, the culture that this particular language
reflects. When doing business in a global context, the ability to communicate cross
culturally is a must for the success of any enterprise. Electronic Communications Ltd.
(ECL) had decided to start business in China and to form a relationship of common
prosperity with Chinese people. The company knew that there was major progress to
be made, but there were also risks and challenges. One of these was the management
of cultural differences. An issue the management was whether it should adapt ECL s
management practice to the Chinese culture or to establish ECL s global
management policies in China. Successful cultural alignment is an important element
for multinational organizations. Electronic Communications Ltd (ECL), like many
other companies entering foreign markets, is faced with how to adequately
incorporate their corporate culture with the Chinese national culture ECL, as a
leading corporation throughout the
Essay about Significance of the abject in Metamorphosis
Discuss the significance of the abject in Metamorphosis.
Metamorphosis is a remarkable novel that has spanned numerous themes; from
alienation to the absurdity of life. And one of the major themes is that of the abject.
The abject, by definition, describes something brought low in position or condition,
lacking in courage, or simply rejected. In short, the abject is a recurring theme
throughout Metamorphosis both literally; in the form of Gregor s grotesque
physical form, and metaphorically; in the way Gregor reacts to and is treated by his
family. Thus the significance of the abject on Gregor and his family will be the basis
of analysis in this essay.
Firstly, the physical sense of the abject is presented almost immediately in ... Show

The contrast between his position in life before and after the transformation was
almost as marked as the transformation itself. In this way, the physical abject is not
only a cause of the social abject, but also a symbol of it as well.
Furthermore, Gregor s descent into social and physical abjection then forces his
family to change radically in order to support themselves. In the beginning, Gregor
starts off as the provider for his family. He hates his job, but he still goes above and
beyond the call of duty to give his family a more comfortable life, even indulging the
expensive endeavour of his sisters dream of studying the violin. However, after the
metamorphosis, he is thrust into the role of a dependant forcing his family to take
responsibility and support themselves. His sister steps up to the plate in the
beginning, giving him a selection of foodstuffs to find what he likes and even
cleaning up after him. His parents are still in denial at this point, so much so that
they refuse to see him at all. But as time goes by, his family begins to accept the
situation and even try to help Grete out. His father produces some money from his
previous failed business venture and his mother and sister try to make life more
comfortable for Gregor. Grete in particular changes the most noticeably; Gregor
himself notes at the beginning that her life up till that point had been enviable ,
consisting of wearing nice
A Hero s Journey
Aspects A quester or someone who goes on a quest in the story. A place for the
hero to go to accomplish his task. A reason for going there (usually a item or some
sort) this gives the hero a purpose for his quest. Challenged and trials problems the
hero faces while on the journey. a real reason to go there, something the hero finds
instead of what he originally thought he needed. It was a cool Saturday night.
Sarah had finally found time to finish working on her solar system model for
Science class. This model was really important because it would count for forty
percent of her grade. She had been working on it for so long, and it was her first
Saturday off. She had finally had time to work on it, but her mom and dad decided
to leave her to watch her little brother, Tony, while they went out and had fun. They
went out every Saturday, and this was her first one off in a long time. It was unfair
and she was beyond frustrated. But somehow she had to figure out how to juggle

She tried to distract Tony by making him a small snack, which he ate really quickly.
She then tried to make him go to his room and play with his own toys, which he
refused to do. She tried to get him to watch TV. This gave her around thirty minutes
of time to work on her project, before Tony once again got bored and took his
boredom out on his sister. Sarah, desperate to get rid of him decided to make a
deal with him by letting him play her DS if he left her alone. She left her room to
go get it. Tony was alone in her room, and couldn t help but notice the cool solar
system she was working on. When Sarah return, she found her solar system on the
floor broken and destroyed. Tony held some of the pieces in his hands. It looked
like Tony had destroyed it. Beyond angry Sarah grabbed Tony by the arm and threw
him out of her room and told him what she was going to tell there
Essay on Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation
When a person plans or wants to do something, he or she has a motivation for that
specific thing. In other words, when a person does something, that person has a
reason why he or she should do that thing. Not always there is a reason to do
something, but sometimes may be many reasons that are backing a person to take
those actions to do it. This happens not only to humans, or living organisms, but also
in nonliving organisms. An example is when a rock which had bounced after it hit
the floor while falling down. Scientists may tell some of the reasons why the rock
does that kind of action, but they cannot tell all of the reasons that back the rock s
actions. A similar thing, as the scientists, was Alfie Kohn trying to do in his essay,
Why... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason is that the reward is not the main thing that is backing up the action; but
something else that could be self develop, peace, etc. An example is a boy does his
homework just because he was told by his parents to do his homework. Based on
that the boy believes that his parents know what is best for him to do.
On the other hand, extrinsic motivation is when a person takes actions knowing that
at the end of that action there is a reward waiting for him or her. In this case, the
person does it not because thinking about self development, peace, etc. but about the
reward. An example could be that the boy s mother will not let the boy watch his
favorite cartoons, until he finishes his homework. That way the boy will finish his
homework just to be able to watch the cartoons, but does not care if he fully
understands the materials on which the homework was about.
Third possibility is the both type of motivations, intrinsic and extrinsic, are the
reason for someone s action. It is when the person is doing something knowing
there is going to be a reward at the end, also during that action the person will
develop in skills, professionalism, etc. The example could be taken from the essay
that Kohn wrote. The reward that Kohn could have got is being paid for writing the
essay, with the main back up that the action will bring development of experiences in
writing professionally. Another example could be a man runs in a burning building to
save his neighbor s kid. That man

  • 2. Osiris Mythology Nirakaran Malla HUM 115 World Mythology Deceptive Deities 7 November 2017 Osiris Osiris is an Egyptian God. He is the son of the sky goddess Nut and the earth God Geb. Through the Egyptian history Osiris has been given different names because he is able to change his presence. He is the god of the underworld, god of the afterlife, god of transition, resurrection, and regeneration. After death Egyptians believed that their soul will be judge in front of the Ambush and Osiris. Where they will weight their soul against a feather and depending on the weight the gods were able to come to decisions. Like many other Gods of Egypt Osiris is represented as a pharaohs that is wearing a crown while he is holding a crook and fail in his hand. It is also said that Osiris Osiris is represented as wearing a plumed crown, holding a crook and flail. Which shows his kingship and ruler of the underworld. He is also represented as having a green skin deity with a pharaoh s beard. The name Osiris translate to as powerful or mighty. This is powerful because he is the god that live in the darkness and judge the souls. He is ready to burst out of darkness into the light as reincarnation. He is represented as god that clears his path from darkness to light and come to life. However Osiris was killed by his younger brother Set and brought back to life by his sister wife Isis. The myth of Osiris and the gods involved in the creation became the foundation of the Egyptian culture. He is associated
  • 3. The Ethics Of The Accounting Profession Ethics are a decision one makes in knowing the right thing to do and essentially doing the right thing. They are the rules of behavior based on one s belief of what is morally good and bad. A person may hear the word ethics and immediately think of government or the law. Not only does ethics have a role in government, it also plays a major role in business, including accounting. Schroeder, Clark Cathey (624) states that the reason for a high level of ethical conduct is the need for public confidence in the quality of services provided by the profession. Ethical conduct not only encourages a high standard of performance; it also encourages a high quality of professional service. Enrons financial scandal put a huge damper on that confidence. The Enron scandalmade the public aware and conscientious of what could happen when dealing with unethical individuals. Since then, the public has educated themselves and are continually becoming more informed. Ethicsin the accounting profession is not going away, it will only continue to change as business transaction change and become more complex. Although some behaviors are legal they may not be held as ethical. For example, Henry Blodgett, an analyst for Merrill Lynch, publicly recommend certain technology stocks, although he knew they were a sham (Smith, 2012). His recommendation of these stocks was unethical, but completely legal. One difference between the court system and judging ethical standards is the court system

During my freshman year, I couldn t imagine myself getting this far. To this day, I challenge myself to everything I can do. Whenever I fall, I get back up. The past few years, I started to see what the real world truly looks like. I learned the real world is difficult, but the only way to get further is to accept the challenge I am given. The world has many interesting things and adventures to explore. As well as, discovering what career path I should follow. However, I have selected three careers I would like to major in. I started looking into film/video editing, physical therapy, and automotive engineering. By selecting these three, I believe I can find my true passion to help the world. Also, what I would love to do my entire life. My first selection to investigate is a film/video editor. Since my freshman year, I was drawn to Mrs. Novell s multimedia class. Also, I knew a lot about computers. I would love to work on projects with the computers and on posters. I would help my mom with projects. Working with special equipment and Apple s Final Pro Cut sounded fun. A film/video editor has many responsibilities like interviewing people, getting footage, adding sound and effects to get everyone s attention, cutting out unnecessary clips, and making sure the video is running correctly by the deadline film editors are
  • 5. Ocean Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies A symbol is anything that represents an object, an idea, a character, an action, or an animal in the story. Many times, these symbols signify something conceptual, like a force of nature, a condition of the world, or an idea. In the book, Lord Of The Flies, there are many symbols that signify the beginning or end of something new in the story. For example, the island and the ocean, the water current flowing backwards, and the beast all symbolize a new change and realization to the story. The island and the ocean symbolize an uncharted, untouched area, the indefinite and endless nature of life that can change from calm to chaos in seconds, and, also, strength, tranquility, and stability. The island and the ocean symbolize both a paradise and also the destructive nature of humanity. The island can symbolize a Garden of Eden, a pristine and bountiful place where the boys can begin anew. In the beginning of the book, Jack says, we are going to have fun on this island (Golding 104). The boys really did think of this island as a paradise, or at least Jack did. However, much like the biblical Garden of Eden, paradise can be suddenly lost when the boys are enticed by evil. The advent of the boys pollutes the sanctity of the island, as did the advent of Satan and the eventual temptation of Eve and loss and innocence ( Lauryn Galloway ). The pristine paradise is set on fire by the boys and everything gets destroyed but luckily it saved them because a ship saw the smoke. The ocean can symbolize the incessant and endless nature of life but it also symbolizes becoming astray and then finding one s way through life. The ocean is a boundless space isolating the boys from all they once knew about the world. But after Simon dies and gets washed out into the sea, the ocean symbolizes all good getting washed away, getting replaced by evil. Simon becomes the good bygone and Jack becomes the evil washing over. But the island and the ocean aren t the only symbols in the book. The water current flowing backwards, that deceives many into thinking it is just a detail, actually symbolizes more. The water current flowing backwards can symbolize many things. It could be giving the subtle impression that civilization may be

  • 7. What Is The Picture Of Dorian Gray Gothic Oscar Wilde presents the use of gothic literature in his novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. Gothic literature is a genre of literature where elements of gloom and horror are often used. For instance, deaths, murders, and curses are all examples of what could occur in a gothic novel. The Picture of Dorian Gray is an example gothic literature by means of gothic conventions being portrayed through characters, in settings, and during events. Gothic conventions are being portrayed through characters throughout the novel. For instance, Lord Henry Wotton is being used to represent the devil, a gothic convention. There is not logical or reasonable explanation for why the picture ages while Dorian himself does not. However, the most supernatural event occurs when Dorian dies and ...hanging upon the wall was a splendid portrait of [Dorian] as they had last seen him...exquisite youth and beauty...lying on the floor was a dead man... [Dorian] was withered, wrinkled, and loathsome of visage (229). Dorian stabs the portrait not himself; however, it is magical that the portrait recovers to its original state while Dorian dies with a knife in his heart. The aging portrait shows a sense of supernatural forces which is known as a gothic convention. Along with the painting showing a sense of magic per say, the yellow book Lord Henry gives to Dorian also is an example of a magical object used in the novel. The yellow book fascinates Dorian through means of forgetting how time was going and allowing all the sins of the world to pass before him. The sense of magic can be seen when Wilde relates the yellow book to be sort of an obsession and shares that Dorian could not free himself from its influences. The yellow book has a magical power over Dorian creating the gothic literature
  • 8. Mount Baker in Bellingham, Washington Essay I decided for my project that I would spend the time researching Mount Baker. Mount Baker is located about 30 miles east of Bellingham, Washington. The Cascade Mountain range extends over 140 miles between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, Canada. Mount Baker is a Stratovolcano, which is also known as a composite volcano, it is also the highest peak in the North Cascades and the fifth highest in the Cascade mountain range (Volcano Hazards Programs). Cities located near Mount Bakerinclude Abbotsford, British Columbia and Bellingham, Washington. The closest stream to the mountain is the Nooksack River which runs near the west side of the mountain. As I looked out the window, I saw walls of rocks all over the place. I also saw a lot of good rock exposure on the top of the mountain where the rock was to steep for the snow to stick to. You will notice that Mount Baker has an abundance of all sorts of rocks. From the rocks I examined I observed a lot of extrusive igneous rock, metamorphic rock and sedimentary rocks and you will find few places where you can walk continuously from shale or basalt into well metamorphosed gneiss (Tabor Haugerud). I observed rocks such as gabbro, shale, and types of extrusive and intrusive igneous rock such as basalt. The ages of the rocks range from about as old as the mountain, which is about 140,000 years old. Structures: When you look at a topographic map of Mount Baker, you will notice many different structures and interesting landforms. The first thing I noticed when I was observing the map were all the different peaks within the mountain. From what I have been reading I have found two major faults that are within Mount Baker. These two faults are the Straight Creek Fault and the Ross Lake Fault Zone; these faults are thought to be primarily strike slip. In addition, on the geologic map you will notice the Sherman Crater, which originated from a large hydrovolcanic explosion (Tabor, Haugerud, Hildreth, Brown). This crater is responsible for many of Mount Bakers past lahars that have flowed down the mountain and into Baker Lake. The pattern of hills, valleys, ridges, and

Fame allows an individual to have super powers in a way because famous individuals are usually exempt from the rules that govern others (Smalley McIntosh, 386). Emily Dickinson has described fame precisely by labeling it as a fickle food , meaning, it is constantly shifting (Smalley McIntosh, 385). In today s media based society, fame is constantly shifting from one person to another quickly. Therefore, the constant shifting of fame puts many celebrities in vulnerable positions after the loss of fame. The article by Smalley and McIntosh explores how the... These accomplishments of Lady Gaga suggest that she was dedicated to music from very early age and focused on it consistently through her life to gain the fame. Smalley and McIntosh mentioned that due to the nature of cognitive dissonance, the harder a person works to attain a goal, the more attractive and hence valuable that goal will be to that individual (p. 395). They further stated that the person would react more negatively to loss of fame after working hard to be successful (p. 395).On the flip side, Lady Gaga may try to cling to her image of the monster to receive the attention from the general public and to remain in lime light. Smalley and McIntosh specify that clinging is usually seen in individuals famous for representing particular personas. The authors also mention that after the loss of fame the celebrity finds it difficult or impossible to gain recognition apart from that role. Thus the celebrity clings to the role, incorporating it into his/her life (Smalley McIntosh, 388). Click, Lee and Holladay explain that in modern day the term monster can be applied to individuals who represent deviation from the status quo (p. 365). Lady Gaga is known for her unique and weird sense of fashion. She has many times grabbed news headlines just for her choices of costumes beginning from meat dress costume to blow up metallic star costume and many more. However, besides her costumes, she has also provided great music and performances which have contributed to her continuous fame. After the loss of fame Lady Gaga may try to grab public s attention by continuously presenting herself as a monster. In simpler terms Lady Gaga may cling to her image of the monster and continually appear in eccentric costumes to grab public attention and

In the epic poem Beowulf case, we can see what the ideal hero was of that time. He is brave, honorable, respectful of his father and ancestors, a great warrior, and believes his good deeds and great victories were to never be forgotten. The culture of Germanic men was was the setting for Beowulf. The story begins with Beowulf himself, king of the greats, when he comes to the aid of the aging king of Danes, Hrothgar. It follows from the crowning achievements to his untimely death. Even though the poem of Beowulf centers around Hubris, the story line relies heavily on the environment and culture of the Germanic people. There are four major aspects to take into consideration about Germanic culture. Paganism was the major religion for Germanis to practice, this took numerous forms in each section of the Germanic world. The religion was more nature based that also intertwined with european rituals as well. They worshiped gods of nature and some of them had many similarities to other cultures gods. • 12. Persuasive Essay On The First Flight When Miguel appeared at the flight school where I was an instructor, there was no indication of the relationship we would develop or of the adventures to come. I would have laughed at anyone crazy enough to suggest that within a year he and I would pilot a single engine plane from Phoenix, Arizona to Santiago, Chile. No one could have predicted that along the way a woman in a remote village would try to give us her baby or that we would find ourselves buzzing an airstrip to chase away festival celebrants so we could land. The school offered a lesson called An Intro Flight. Even though it wasn t really a lesson, the school advertised it as such and offered it at a discount. The owners were hoping to entice people who d never been up in a small plane to try the experience. Of course, the reason behind the lesson was the belief that after the flight, people would fall in love with flying and sign up for a series of lessons. The promotion was a joke. Earning a private pilot s license involves 40 or more hours of flight time, qualifying grades on written examinations, and passing a practical application test known as a check ride. There is also an oral exam. Oh, and the cost exceeds $5,000. With one exception, people attracted by the $35.00 lesson never signed up for another at full price; so they certainly wouldn t commit to the additional time, effort, and expense of earning a certificate. Even though, both of these amusement parks are very much enjoyable, everyone has a preference. While one is labeled as the happiest place on earth, the other is just as fun, or is it? Disneyland and Six Flags Magic Mountain are both filled with rides, food, and entertainment; however, I believe one of these amusement parks does a little better job at making your experience unforgettable. Disneyland offers awesome rides, delicious food, and breathtaking entertainment. I believe Disneyland is true to its slogan and is the happiest place on earth because whenever I find myself there I am always having a great time. The rides at Disneyland are so enjoyable and delightful; however, most of their rides were created to accommodate infants and children, so many of them are slow moving or digital. Nevertheless, while this does not worsen your experience, you do sometimes miss out on that roller coasterthrill that you would feel on a typical ride. For example, the rides that are slow moving or digital include It s a Small World, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Pirates of the Caribbean, and so on. Disneyland s targeted guests are children and adults of all ages. Disneyland has many rides that are accessible to infants and children, and many rides that are targeted more toward teenagers and adults. For example, the students were reading The Eye of the Storm , which is about a storm chaser travelling to Florida to capture and document Hurricane Andrew. She questioned the students about what he does for a living. The students answered a storm chaser; however, the teacher then asked why he would choose a career that is potentially dangerous. One student said, I think he chose this career because his job could tell us how dangerous the storm is, and he could compare this storm to future storms and... However, about a third of her worksheets, she allows the students to work in partners. When the students interact with each other, they learn from one another and gain ideas and knowledge about the particular topic. For example, the students were working on equivalent fractions. They started working on worksheets individually, but as a whole group lecture and practice. The students then moved around the room to work with partners. The teacher handed out manipulatives (foam fractions) to help them understand equivalent fractions once they moved to partners. Some of the students weren t really getting the concept of equivalent fractions, but once they were partnered up the students were starting to get it. They were bouncing ideas off of each other and started to really get the concept. After about twenty minutes, the teacher asked the students to go back to their seat so they could go over the worksheet. The students had a lot of the answers correct. However, the teacher introduced a concept about multiplying to get equivalent fractions. She just stated the rule and asked the students to quickly multiply the fractions and figure out the equivalent. I disagreed with this method, because the students had a really tough time trying to multiply all

Laura lives in a beautiful mansion on the coast with her handsome, wealthy husband Martin. This wealth allows Laura the opportunity to stay at home rather than working outside of the home. However, behind closed doors this perfect life is very different from what the outside world sees. Laura is constantly being beaten, ridiculed, and criticized by her husband. In addition the Department of Justice Canada states that abuse may affect virtually every aspect of an abused person s life. It can harm their physical and mental health, their ability to work, and their relationship with their children and loved ones In this movie Laura does not appear to be suffering from such things, in fact she seems to be coping very well, with the exception of the not trusting others, and not wanting to enter into another relationship. These mental issues are an important part of spousal abuse that I feel should have been portrayed more in this movie, in order for the audience to fully understand the wide variety of possible consequences of abuse. When looking at how this movie portrays Martin, I believe that it covers some very common areas that can lead to spousal abuse. First

Carnap proposes that theories be declared scientific based on whether they can be tested, at least in principle, and labels this his verification criteria. Popper s method is based on whether a theory has empirical content which is the set of all possible excluded events proposed by a theory. The question is, is it possible to agree with both of these criteria? I would say no. The above criteria, by themselves, are not enough to govern demarcation. Both of these, while necessary, are not sufficient enough to conclude that a certain theory is scientific. Examining logical examples as well as historical events revels how these theories disagree with each other and are limited... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sun could not rise and be replaced with another celestial body and the theory would still be scientific according to Carnap s criteria. Let us consider an example from history. Consider the Phlogiston theory. This is a rather ancient, now disproven, theory arising in the 17th century that is the predecessor to the theory of combustion. The theory states that all combustible bodies contain Phlogiston. Upon burning, these bodies release Phlogiston to the air. The air can hold a finite amount of Phlogiston after which it is completely phlogisticated and no longer supports burning of a material. Carnap would consider this theory unscientific as it cannot be tested. At the time, there was no way to quantify or measure Phlogiston. No instruments existed at that time period that could have been used to measure Phlogiston which makes the theory unscientific. Who was to say what substances possess and do not possess Phlogiston since it could not be measured? On the other hand, Popper would argue that the theory is scientific as it has empirical content, it excludes non combustible bodies from having Phlogiston. Let us consider a case where both Carnap and Popper would agree. Compare the Phlogiston theory to modern chemistry and combustion. Both Carnap and Popper would agree that combustion is scientific. Calorimeters exist that can measure heat released from chemical reactions quite easily. Combustion also lays out what happens upon a

Dualist View On Identity Identity criteria are a main component of who a person actually is, central elements of how someone sees who they are and essential properties are urged to determine a person s identity. How philosophers view the soul is essential one s personality. The duelists believe that wherever the soul goes, that s where the mindgoes. The dualists view is based off of the fact that there is more to our brain and ourselves than just the physical aspect, the soulstrongly supports this claim. Materialism argues against the duelists because they only believe in the physical component of the world, in their eyes a soul does not exist. Lastly, in the psychological view, John Locke implemented memory into personal identity. Leibniz and Reid challenged Locke s ideas and came up with a reasonable conclusion. Personal identity can be defined is through identity theft, but it is the central elements of how someone perceives themselves to determine who they actually are. One is that a single soul, one and the same, has been with this body I call mine since it was born. The other is that one soul was associated with it until five years ago and then another, psychologically similar, inheriting all the old memories and beliefs, took over. A third hypothesis is that every five years a new soul takes over. A fourth is that every five minutes a new soul takes over Weirob views souls by being able to move from one body to the next without us knowing, the duelists strongly disagree with this theory.

Education is a great investment because it generally helps people to earn higher income which in return, will allow people to pay higher amounts of money in taxes. A great way the state of Tennessee can help reduce costs of textbooks is by removing sales tax on textbooks. Sure, 9.25% is not a very high percentage. However, 9.25% of $900 is roughly eighty four dollars. Eighty four dollars is enough to buy an additional textbook that could be used for another class. Regulations should be set in place to encourage companies to charge less for textbooks, and to slow down the high rate of textbook price inflation. Examples of regulations to be considered include the following: a required percentage of content changes and/or updates in new textbook editions, and taxing textbook publishers based on profit margins of textbooks. While the second regulation may seem extreme, with it, textbook publishers will be encouraged to keep profits low to avoid paying higher tax

The Characteristics Of Cargo Cult Science By Richard Feynman Cargo cult science is a term used by Richard Feynman to describe a method or idea that imitates the scientific process but is not done for a scientific purpose. In his essay, The Uncertainty of Science Richard Feynman goes on to clarify that legitimate science accounts for the uncertainties found in science: it is the search for answers and data to support theories through experimenting and looking for faults in methods. Cargo Cult Science, however, as Feynman explains, is science that cannot benefit society as actual science should when used correctly. Cargo cult sciences do not occur only amongst scientists, but by anyone who improperly uses or executes science. There are many different types of cargo cult science that each happen for different reasons, it can be done on accident, on purpose, or caused by neglect. Science can be altered for some form of personal gain, it can be affected by honest mistakes, and it can be ruined by laziness and corner cutting, these are all different ways that cargo culting occurs. An example that Feynman uses in his Cargo Cult Science essay is how one of his scientist friends was trying to find applications for astronomy and cosmology. After Feynman explained that there are were, the man replied that he needs one in order to get the support to continue his research. In this instance, the scientist is trying to make up a reason so he can conduct further research. This is cargo culting because a fake application can alter the way people judge the subject: causing them to support the research that they would otherwise ignore. Cargo cult science is as easy as producing false data or claims, using faulty processes or experiments, and purposefully ignoring facts. It is done for multiple reasons, honest mistakes, trying to save time or money, or involving some sort of personal benefit: funding, money, publicity, avoiding blame, etc. Another example that Feynman gives of cargo cult science is how everyone that ran rat running experiments ignored the findings of Mr. Young, who had found that in order to properly run the experiment the corridor needed to be placed in sand (Cargo Cult Science 13). Then in The Uncertainty of Science Feynman claims that proper science is just

We calculate the potential effect of the local unitary increase in albedo on IRF responsiveness (R) for a sample of 145 cities and urbanized areas in three geographical areas: southern; central; and northern Europe (see Methods). Low cloudiness and high solar radiation make R in southern European cities two times higher than in other regions (see SI Table 1). He let there empty threats ricochet of him as he stands defiant against the evil and corruption of the court. When he answers, I did not when asked if he saw anyone else with him, he is standing up for for his friends and protecting them. This parallels to the general tone of the song and strongly relates to the lyrics, I m criticized but all your bullets ricochet You shoot me down, but I get up I m bulletproof nothing to lose Fire away, fire away . Viva La VidaViva La Vida is a song of remembrance for a time when the King of France had real authority and now he is washed up and no longer respected. This directly reflects the loss of authority that occurs throughout the story as Hale loses respect. Hale goes from the de facto authority on witchcraft and a chief member of the Salem court... to a person who s pleas and reasoning is dismissed. This is shown in two quotes that represent him at the beginning and the end; these quotes are, There be no unnatural causes here. Tell him I have sent for Reverend Hale of Beverly, and Mister Hale will surely confirm that and Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more. I will not
  • 38. Comparing Princess Mononoke And Disney Movies They say: When I first saw Princesses Mononoke at five, I didn t understand any conflict or meaning of the film. Only the scene where the Forest Spirit is finding his head and killing all the living things on earth stayed in my mind. I remember laying in my bed that night after watching the film thinking, This movie is so scary... how nice will it be if this princess is a Disney princess. I have believed for a long time that if Princess Mononoke was produced by Disney, the film will be so much more successful. I say After becoming a young adult and rewatching Princess Mononoke again, my old thought of the film, which was Princess Mononoke being produced by Disney will be more successful, has twisted. The style of Studio Ghibli provided the movie the unique, exciting, and memorable features. To be more specific, the fascinating and well thought storyline was the most outstanding part of the film. How Hayao Miyazaki did not separate good and evil with a clear defined line; illustrated a deeper environmentalist message than Disney films; created an open ending which gives the audiences more space to imagine and contemplate, are all what made the film a big hit during the 1990s. While Lady Eboshi kills and hunts down the animals in the forest, she also stays loyal to the Iron Town and tries to give the citizens a better quality of life. Additionally, when Nature is fighting the humans back, they themselves got into an internal conflict and lost their unity. This feature makes the film more convincing and relatable to audiences. In real life, people are not always bad or good. Humans reactions depend on different situation. Comparing Princesses Mononoke (1997) to The Jungle Book (1967) by Disney, both of them are telling a story that happened in the woods and the conflict between human and nature, however, The Jungle Book has a clear line between the good and bad
  • 39. The Theme Of Alienation In The Catcher In The Rye The Catcher in the Rye has various themes, but each theme is linked to one another. A major theme in this novel is alienation which revolves around other themes such as loss of innocence, sentiment, self esteem, phoniness, and the painfulness of leaving your nest. The protagonist, Holden Caulfield, alienates himself from his world of phonies to shelter himself from the hectic and cruel stage of the adult world. As cynical and short tempered Holdenseems, he is really sensitive, has a proclivity for childhoodinnocence, and suffers from a low self esteem. The problem is that he does not realize it. As the events in the novel progress, it is perceptible that Holden is very sentimental because he would complain about how things changed since... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He mentioned how the display glasses looked the same since he was a kid, and found it admirable. He found his sister and told her about everything and how he wanted to get out of this city, and she asked him if she could come, but Holden refused which caused her to get into a fit and storm off. The next day he snuck into his house without his parents knowledge and talked to Phoebe. She teased him about how unambitious he is and how he despised everything, calling him immature and lazy. He then mentioned how he would always dream of being on a cliff, standing on the edge, and protect little kids from falling off into a hurtful abyss. Once again, this is just the superficial meaning. What Holden sub consciously means is that he wants to protect little children, that are in their childhood, from falling into the abyss, which is the painful world of growing up and being an adult. This shows how sentimental Holden is about childhoods and innocence, and how adulthood is like plummeting from a cliff to your death. All he wants to do is preserve that for other younger children. Holden then takes Phoebe to a park where she rides the carousel several times, and Holden just sat on the bench with his red hunting hat while it was raining. And at that moment, Holden felt sheer happiness and smiled at his sister, wistfully, which made him feel like he accomplished his goal. All

Economic Firm Analysis Trey III Apple Incorporated, formerly known as Apple Computers Incorporated, and more commonly known just as Apple, has lead the way in technology and innovation for consumer electronics with their slender storage capacities, vibrant displays, and incredible touch screen products. When they first started, their focus was more on personal computers for customers, but as the company has aged, so has their focus expanded towards this idea of consumer electronics as a whole. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diversity in products and their prices helps Apple remain an inelastic company, regarding their demand. If a price rises for one of their products, there is sure to be another product that moves into that previous product s price range that is still comparable in design and quality. There will always be people to buy the more expensive items not only because of Apple s positive brand recognition and loyalty, but because Apple consistently produces quality and innovative products; including, if Apple finds a defect or fault, they fix the problem for free or replace the product altogether. With Apple being so far ahead of their competition, the only problem one can foresee in Apple s future is how long they can sustain such innovation before they plateau. Apple does a phenomenal job at releasing their innovative products before their competition, but if their innovation cannot hold steady, this may lead to changes in demand for their products considerably. This can be seen with their release of the iPhone, the first successful touch screen cellular phone. Although people swarmed to the iPhone when it was first released because of its advanced technology, as the years have passed, other similar designs, including those with android and windows based operating systems, have drawn a considerable portion of the market. A clear representation of Apple s attempt to regain some of this market can be seen when the iPhone was released to Verizon Wireless customers in

What made it slightly different from the other products in the market was the fact that it already came in a pot which you could pour the water straight into and eat out of it, no need for a bowl. They are slowly bringing out new flavours to keep their current customers happy and entice new customers. Goods and services are produced by using productive resources which are called factors of production. These are grouped into 4 categories which are Land, Labor, Capital, Entrepreneurship. Land is another word for natural resources, it includes land and other things such as water and air etc. This would include the land that is used to grow the produce needed to make the noodles. Labor is the time and effort that people put in to creating a product. It includes mental and physical effort and the quality depends on knowledge and skill that people have from training. In terms of labor in the Pot Noodle it would be people such as factory workers, or produce harvesters. Capital are the tools and machines that businesses use to produce their good. This would be any type of machinery or tools used in harvesting or making the product. Entrepreneurship is the idea behind organising land, labor and capital. Entrepreneurs come up with new ideas and make business decisions. These would include people who come up with the new flavours and how they market their product. I

The so called Freudian reading of the likes of Harold C. Goddard, Edna Kenton, and its maybe best known figure Edmund Wilson is probably the most remarkable interpretation. According to it the governess suffers sexual hysteria deriving from her suppressed amorous feelings towards the master. Unconsciously of them her fantasy conjures up the ghosts of BlyВґs former valet Peter Quint and her predecessor Miss Jessel who want to get hold of the children. In saving her charges the governess can ply the heroine in her made up drama to win the attention and love of the master. In his essay Sexual Hysteria, Physiognomical Bogeymen, and the ... Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) is one of the major components which are increasingly deployed in the power system network to provide the necessary infrastructure to cater smart grid requirements. PMUs provide time synchronized measurementof voltage and current phasors (Phadke and Thorp 2008) from different nodes of the power system network, which is used for monitoring and control. NASPI (March 2015) and NERC (September 2016) suggest use of phasor data from the PMUs to perform verification of dynamic models as well as validating parameters of power plant models. The mismatch in PMU measurements and dynamic simulators lead to anomalous result for application such as event location, oscillation detection, islanding detection, and dynamic line rating as indicated in (Zhao et al. 2015). While PMUs can measure and time synchronize the output phasor with great accuracy, the internal signal processing may utilize several cycles of the input signal measurements to calculate each phasor values. Thus, even if the PMU report phasor each cycle, the measurements is not representative of the current cycle but of a number of the preceding and following cycles depending on the sliding window of data used for the phasor estimation. This typically smooths out/filters faster changes that may be present in the simulation output, rendering PMU output not comparable to simulated response for the same disturbance when fast changing responses are present (applicable for a very small time constant parameters in the model of the physical system). Phasor estimation can be performed in electromagnetic simulators in which point of wave signal is available. Phasor estimation of a point of wave signal is applied in electromagnetic simulator using enhanced DFT based algorithm in (Romano, Pignati, and Paolone 2015). A mechanism for streaming simulated phasors from TSAT in C37.118 format is proposed in (Zheng, Howell, and Wang 2015). However, these phasors do not reflect the PMU characteristics as

Himself a graduate of Otterbein College, Luneborg said his mother was a Buckeye. He s been going to games since he was a young boy, and this is the first year he can remember the family not having season football tickets to the Shoe. Luneborg has been employed by the East Holmes Local School District for 20 years, the last 11 of which he has served as principal. The Washington Courthouse native said he was drawn to the area after meeting his wife, Kelly, at college. She hails from Sugarcreek. Buckeye football is far from the only sport Luneborg enjoys. In high school, he, following in his brother s footsteps, played golf, basketball and tennis. And, while he still quite enjoys golf, on average scoring in the low 40s, his time on the course is limited, and Luneborg s sports interest have shifted. He s spent several years coaching both recreational and travel softball for his daughters, Allison, 18, and Taylor, 12. I enjoy it. But communication requires much more than a solid knowledge of a language. Becoming communicatively competent in a foreign or second language implies more than being able to speak fluently and accurately. Being communicatively competent in a language requires having not only good linguistic knowledge but also knowledge of the culture that is beneath that language, the culture that this particular language reflects. When doing business in a global context, the ability to communicate cross culturally is a must for the success of any enterprise. Electronic Communications Ltd. Metamorphosis is a remarkable novel that has spanned numerous themes; from alienation to the absurdity of life. And one of the major themes is that of the abject. The abject, by definition, describes something brought low in position or condition, lacking in courage, or simply rejected. In short, the abject is a recurring theme throughout Metamorphosis both literally; in the form of Gregor s grotesque physical form, and metaphorically; in the way Gregor reacts to and is treated by his family. • 48. Essay on Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation When a person plans or wants to do something, he or she has a motivation for that specific thing. In other words, when a person does something, that person has a reason why he or she should do that thing. Not always there is a reason to do something, but sometimes may be many reasons that are backing a person to take those actions to do it. This happens not only to humans, or living organisms, but also in nonliving organisms. An example is when a rock which had bounced after it hit the floor while falling down. Scientists may tell some of the reasons why the rock does that kind of action, but they cannot tell all of the reasons that back the rock s actions. A similar thing, as the scientists, was Alfie Kohn trying to do in his essay, Why... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason is that the reward is not the main thing that is backing up the action; but something else that could be self develop, peace, etc. An example is a boy does his homework just because he was told by his parents to do his homework. Based on that the boy believes that his parents know what is best for him to do. On the other hand, extrinsic motivation is when a person takes actions knowing that at the end of that action there is a reward waiting for him or her. In this case, the person does it not because thinking about self development, peace, etc. but about the reward. An example could be that the boy s mother will not let the boy watch his favorite cartoons, until he finishes his homework. That way the boy will finish his homework just to be able to watch the cartoons, but does not care if he fully understands the materials on which the homework was about. Third possibility is the both type of motivations, intrinsic and extrinsic, are the reason for someone s action. It is when the person is doing something knowing there is going to be a reward at the end, also during that action the person will develop in skills, professionalism, etc. The example could be taken from the essay that Kohn wrote. The reward that Kohn could have got is being paid for writing the essay, with the main back up that the action will bring development of experiences in writing professionally. Another example could be a man runs in a burning building to save his neighbor s kid. That man
