How To Write An Essay Introduction
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of composing an essay introduction can be a challenging
endeavor. At first glance, it might seem paradoxical – attempting to elucidate the art of
initiating an essay while being confronted with the very task itself. The challenge lies in striking
the right balance between providing insightful guidance and avoiding the risk of sounding overly
didactic.
The difficulty stems from the need to create an introduction that not only captivates the reader's
attention but also sets the tone for the entire essay. It requires a delicate blend of creativity and
precision to articulate a compelling thesis statement while offering a preview of the key
arguments that will follow. Balancing the desire to be engaging with the necessity of remaining
concise can be a tightrope walk.
Moreover, the writer must grapple with the diverse nature of essays across different disciplines.
What works as an effective introduction in a literary analysis may not necessarily be suitable for
a scientific paper. The challenge lies in tailoring the approach to suit the specific requirements of
the essay at hand.
Furthermore, the writer must navigate the fine line between originality and convention. While an
introduction should stand out and be unique, it must also adhere to certain established norms to
ensure clarity and coherence. Striking this balance can be akin to navigating a maze of creativity
and tradition.
In essence, writing an essay on how to craft an essay introduction becomes a meta-exercise,
requiring the author to apply the very principles they expound. It demands a keen understanding
of the nuances involved in capturing the reader's interest and foreshadowing the essay's content,
all while maintaining a scholarly tone.
However, for those who find themselves daunted by the prospect of unraveling this enigma,
assistance is available. Similar essays, along with a plethora of other academic writing services,
can be effortlessly accessed on HelpWriting.net. Whether it's guidance on essay introductions
or support with various writing tasks, the resources provided can serve as a compass through the
challenging terrain of academic composition.

The Specialization Of A Business Model Essay
The Specialization Business
Like the other models the specialization business model can be conflated with
freelancers, solution based businesses, and also first to market models. Like the
solution based model, the specialization model can be scaled up or built with the
purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a step beyond the solution idea
and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could even argue that
this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization
business focuses on a good or a service, the specialization model typically has
extremely proprietary knowledge and techniques which cannot be easily replicated
by competing firms. Often, patents and complex legal barriers to entry are
established to protect the specialist s natural advantages. Elements of the freelance,
solution, debt, and first to market business models are present in specialization
models, but I classify this as a unique model of its own because the owners must
protect their secrets yet clone themselves to scale up. There are countless legacy
businesses built on industry secrets, and proprietary knowledge. McDonalds, Chick
Fil A, and Kentucky Fried Chicken were all founded on very specialized formulas
and techniques that even to this day are exceptionally protected. Completely
opposite firms like DutchBoy paint, and computer platform firms like Oracle can
also be considered specialization businesses and also have their own secrets to

Conspiracy Theories Of The American Conspiracy
Conspiracy has been deeply rooted into American culture since before the
Constitution. Many Americans still believe that there are secret societies of the
elite that exert great influence in not just the American government, but events on
an international scale as well. These conspiracy theories appeal to a populist
perspective, one that says that there are people much more powerful than the
average American and they are knowingly infringing on American liberties, with
the goal to either control or harm the country. These supposed conspiracy groups
are well known because they have become engrained in America s culture for
hundreds of years; elite groups such as the Illuminati and the Freemasons are
known for stirring political anxiety in the early years of the American Republic.
Some of this anxiety would be justified early on, but much of it would later prove
to be hysteria and paranoia. As those Masonic groups would die down in relevance
as the years went on, the paranoia that they created in conspiracy theorist s minds
would be replaced by other branches of secret societies for the elite that were
focused on wealth, political power, and globalist visions. Elite invite only groups,
such as the Bilderbergs, the Skull and Bones, and the Bohemian Club are all looked
at by some conspiracy theorists as organizing a New World Order that is outside of
the public s eyes. Furthermore, other conspiracy theorists believe that it is not the
secret societies that Americans should be

1. Why does the final electron energy not depend on the focusing cylinder voltage?
The final electron energy does not depend on the focusing cylinder voltage because it
applies a force that is parallel to the magnetic field rather than perpendicular to it.
2. Do you think the electrons are emitted from the cathode with zero velocity, one
velocity, or a range of velocities? Hint: The electrons inside the metal that are able to
escape are a bit like a gas of molecules at finite temperature.
I think that the electrons that are emitted from the cathode are emitted with a range
of velocities (perhaps like a Boltzmann distribution where average speed clusters in
the middle of the range).
3. The coils are connected in series. Why would connecting them in parallel be a bad
idea? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To get the electrons to move at the same speed, we would have to turn up the voltage
and this would overheat the expensive apparatus filament.
4. Why doesn t the magnetic field change the speed of the electrons? (Speed is taken
to be the magnitude of the velocity. The velocity is a vector.)
The magnetic field does not change the speed of the electrons. Since the magnetic
field is always perpendicular to the velocity, only the electron movement direction
changes and not the speed.
5. At a coil current of 3 A, what is the magnetic field produced at the center of the

Causes And Effects Of Low Self Esteem
Sigmund Freud once said, Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength . As he
said this, Mr. Freud had many controversial ideas about human personality and certain
therapy uses that have influenced humanity s self understanding. Psychology is the
science of behavior and mental processes, along with this Psychologyhas many
branches or areas as psychology is only a general idea. Self concept or most
knowingly as Self Esteem, which is only one of the many branches of Psychology,
has the highest effect on an organism s mind that can change based who you know
and where you are.
The feelings you express and show are what people identify you as whether it be a
good expression or a bad one. The Department of Psychology, located in Denver
have published a book series based of the causes and consequences of low self
esteem in children and adolescents. The author Susan Harter states that people, at
the age of 13 to 25, are prone to let their emotions control them to an extent. She
states that adolescents and children are complex or they are a perplexing

Cognitive Behavior Therapy And Family Based Treatment
Anorexia nervosa is a debilitating disorder that affects the lives of many adolescents
and can serious if not fatal consequences if not treated properly (Hurst Zimmer
Gembeck, 2015; Wilson, Grilo, Vitousek, 2007; Westwood Kendal, 2012; Grave,
Calugi, Ghoch, Conti Fairburn, 2014). Two interventions that are often used in the
treatment of AN are cognitive behavior therapy and familybased treatment. Cognitive
behavior therapy (CBT) and family based treatment (FBT) can either be used
separately or in conjunction depending on the patient s response and the degree of
the disorder (Doyle, Le Grange, Loeb, Doyle, Crosby, 2012; Lock et al., 2015;
Madden et al., 2015). CBT aims to decease the symptoms of anorexia nervosaby

Categorically, adolescents with anorexia nervosa have a chronic low body weight and
are below 85 percent of their expected body weight (Lock, Fitzpatrick, 2007).
Anorexia nervosa is most commonly diagnosed in adolescents, an age that can
increase the risks of malnutrition, weight loss, osteoporosis, growth arrest, and
absent puberty. Anorexia nervosa can damage an adolescent s identity, and has the
highest death rates of any psychiatric illness (Aspen Boutelle, 2013; Grave et al.,
2014). Adolescents that suffer from anorexia nervosa tend to be perfectionists
causing them to focus on negative beliefs, fear of failure, and fear of disapproval.
They are often high achievers, are inflexible and rigid in their thinking, and see their
symptoms as achievements (Hurst Zimmer Gembeck, 2015; Westwood Kendal, 2012).
Three themes emerge in anorexia nervosa patients: control, tensions between the
client s wants and the clinical intervention, and therapeutic alliance (Westwood
Kendal, 2012). For patients, anorexia nervosa both controls them and gives them
control. Patients are torn between trying to overcome their disorder and enjoying the
control they have over their body. Clients being treated for anorexia nervosa are
challenged during treatment because they need to address both their physical and
psychological needs (Westwood Kendal, 2012). They want to have a say during their
Warming In Jack London s To Build A Fire
On average, about 500 people in the world die from exposure to excessive natural
cold per year. In Jack London s To Build a Fire, the main character is faced with the
same problem. He is all alone in the frigidly cold Yukon climate. Eventually, the cold
gets to him. He surrenders to the cold and dies slowly after freezing from falling in a
frozen creek. The three major mistakes the man made that got him killed were not
noticing that the dog didn t wantto go on the ice, building his desperately needed fire
under a tree, and ignoring the advice the old timer on Sulphur Creek gave him. The
first mistake the man made was not noticing that the dog didn t want to go on the
ice. The man was walking on a frozen river that had traps. These were places in the
river where the ice was looked solid, but any pressure put onto it would cause it to
collapse into the freezing cold water below. At first, the man tried to throw the dog
he was traveling with onto the ice to see if there were any traps. When the man did
this, he should have noticed that the dog did not want to do it. If he would have
noticed and followed the dog s lead, he would not have fallen through the ice. He
would not be freezing in the first place. The dog knew what it was doing, for it had
been in the Yukonwilderness longer than the man had. If the man would have paid
attention to the dog, he would not be soaking wet and needa fire. The next mistake the
protagonist made was building his desperately needed
The Importance Of The Warrior Culture In The Iliad And...
The Iliad and Beowulf are two important stories that illustrate critical components of
the warrior culture. Achilles and Beowulf are similar in nature as they value pride
and honor to the highest degree in their way of life. They, however, play a central
role in highlighting the importance of the Anglo Saxons and Greeks perception of
their burialrites. It is through these character s experiences that the reader is able to
see how commemoration of the dead exemplifies the significance of their greatness.
This paper will be examining the warrior culture of these two stories and how honor
played a role in demonstrating the importance of ritual rites for their respective
cultures. Beowulf embodies extraordinary qualities such as heroism, bravery, and
superhuman strength. These characteristics are similar to that of Achilles.
Furthermore, both of their incredible strengths allow them to prevail against other
strong warriors in battle. Perhaps the quality that best describes both of these
individuals is honor. Achilles displayed this trait from the beginning to the end in the
Iliad. After enduring a public humiliation in the hands of Agamemnon, Achilles
declared that he would withdraw all his men from battle and no longer fight for the
Greeks. Although the Greeks suffered many casualties, Achilles pride and honor
prevented him from participating in battle. It wasn t until the death of his warrior
companion, Patroclus, that Achilles returned to battle. His refusal to partake
Design of Multi-Agent Systems
Design of MAS In multi agent systems, there are four basic elements that collaborate
to build the design of the system. The first element is agents, which composes of
group of autonomous agents that are considered the first and main part of the internal
structure of the MAS design (Manzoni, 2009). Those agents are different in their
numbers, method of response, smartness, dealing with problems, and internal
architecture in general. Since agents are necessary to interact and cooperate with
each other to find a solution for common tasks or uncommon tasks as well, by
communicating via special messages that can arrive at any time. Hence, every one of
these agents must be based on particular information in regarding of its actions and
making decisions (Wooldrige, 2009).
Communication and interaction is the second element of the MAS design, which is
considered the central estate of any distributed system. However, the interaction only
happens when two or more agents share the same interest in regard to solving a
problem. More than that, it is significantly important in the system because of the
difference between agents (Wooldrige, 2009). Agents that are in the same system
interact in three different ways: direct interaction (messages passing), through an
intermediary agent, or through their environment. In more detail, they could be
directly communicated by sending messages when they understand each other s
language. This means speaking the same language and using the same
The Destruction from the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and...
The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami was one of the deadliest and most destructive in
recent history. It was even catastrophic for a country like Maldives that never
experienced disasters of such scale. While some of the islands in Maldives were
completely destroyed and a significant number of lives lost; the damages to economy,
infrastructure, environment and human psyche was immeasurable (Pardasani, 2006,
p. 80). Having only dealt with storm surges and localized flooding, there were no
operational plans or capacity to deal with a disaster of this magnitude in Maldives
(Government of Maldives, et al., 2005, p. 9). Despite some organizational
shortcomings, mostly owing to their lack of experience in managing large scale

Maldivian Scouts were the first among NGOs to respond by taking initiative to report
to operation centre in Male. Scouts across the country were called to be on alert. The
cadets and scouts remained in assisting aid workers in managing temporary
accommodation and other delegated tasks. Following the destructions in islands,
communities that were not affected by the tsunami took the initiative in supplying
basic necessities to the neighbouring islands. A national plea for aid was broadcasted
on national and private media (both television and radio station) and updates of
tsunami and its affect were continuously reported on media channels (Haleem, A.
Yusuf, A., 2004) The only local NGOs with enough expertise in community outreach
were Society for Health Education and Care Society which later took a leading role
in psychosocial support and counselling in some focused communities (Pardasani,
2006).
Prior to tsunami, the international organizations in Maldives were very limited. The
organizations that existed were primarily focusing on education and health
development (Brown, 2005). International aid agencies arrived in a very short time.

The Connection Between The Human Soul And Soul In

The connection between the human soul and the human body, specifically in their
relationship to sin is evidenced in the work of St Bernard of Clairvaux. St. Bernard
s work On Loving God emphasizes the value of human relationships with God, as
well as the virtues that accompany these relationships, or lack thereof. Similarly,
Dante s journey from Heaven to Hell in The Divine Comedy concerns the importance
of virtue and the consequences of acting immorally. The influence of St. Bernard of
Clairvauxs theological thought on sin and its connection to the human bodyis shown
in Dante s Inferno and Purgatory through Dante s emphasis on the physical
representations of sin and its redeeming act.

Bernard highlights, and that is reflected in Dante s illustration of sin, especially
envy as constant, exhaustive movement. St. Bernard describes an individual who is
consumed with greed as one who all the gold in the world could never give a
moment of rest to one of these exhausted souls . By describing souls who are greedy
as exhausted , St. Bernard references the physical toll on the body that envy incites
and also establishes a connection between the soul and the physical body. Dante s
illustration of the envious souls strongly coincides with St. Bernard s statement that
envious individuals as being in vain travail and experiencing constant exhaustion .
These statements of physical labor and fatigue associated with envy strongly
correlate that sins are associated with the souls inhabiting an earthly body.
Exhaustion is a feeling that is closely tied to earthly feelings and the demands of a
human body. By describing the souls in Hell as exhausted demonstrates that they will
forever be confided to their sinful body and the negative feelings that accompany it.
Dante s emphasis on the souls that experience earthly feelings in Hell connect to St.
Bernard s fourth degree of love and how the oneness with God cannot be attained with

Montgomery Bus Boycott Dbq Essay

driver told Rosa Parksthat she would have to give up her seat to a white person. She
refused and was arrested. Rosa s arrest sparked a number of radical events that fought
against racial inequality and segregation over the span of thirteen months. The
Montgomery Bus Boycott was successful because it led to the U.S. Supreme Court

Diversity, Gender Diversity And Human Rights
Delta has shown great support for human rights and has supported the rights of their
employees; their vision and decisions have had positive implications for their
business and managerial practices.
The founder of Delta, C.E. Woolman states, Happy Employees Make Happy
Customers Make Happy Shareholders (Kaufman, 2013, p.28). It is implicit that Delta
cares about their employees and understands the importance of carrying out and using
diversity practices within their business. Cultural diversity, gender diversity, and
human rights have been at the forefront of this company since the beginning; this
company has succeeded and overcome many challenges mainly because of their
strong commitment to not only their employees but to the rights of the human
condition.

pilots in 31 American and Canadian airlines (Yamanouchi, 2015). Unions are
usually seen as being very beneficial to an employee. There are many repercussions
that come along with unionizing for both an employee and an employer. Unions are

What Are The Seven Elements Of Art
One piece of artwork that I did that has all the seven elements of art was my animal
watercolor painting. The seven elements of art are line, shape, color, value, form ,
texture, and space. Somethings that these elements help with are make the
artwork more realistic. It can also help how realistic the details are and how it
looks three dimensional. The first element I used was line. Line helps you make a
outline of what you are trying to make. Line is the edges of a figure and it can be
made with a pen or pencil. A line can help how realistic you artwork can look. If you
make a line that is behind you figure at a certain angle it can make the shape seem
real. Line is very important to a drawing because it can show a lot of detail. Another
element that can help a piece of artwork is shape. Shape is a area enclosed by... Show

Texture can also help your artwork feel more realistic. I used texture in my
watercolor by painting little hairs on the wolf s body to show how it might feel. It
might feel like a furry rug or soft hair. Texture can help with your artwork because it
can help the viewer imagine the object in their mind. The final element is space.
Space can help show where the object is and you can also tell the setting from the
space around it. Space can also help your artwork because it can give detail about the
story behind of the artwork. In my watercolor painting the the space I used was to
show the the wolf was all by itself. It also shows how the land is barren and their is
nothing on it.
The Seven Elements of Art can help your pieces of artwork. Some examples of
elements that can help are texture. Texture can help by helping the viewer imagine
how the object feels. Another element that can help us form. Form can help your
drawing feel more three dimensional. All the seven elements help your artwork feel
more realistic and help improve your art
Tokugawa Ieyasu s Collapse
Her story begins far beyond where her memories themselves extend, to a time when

Persuasive Essay On Borders
Limitless
Borders limit the way we interact and feel about the world around us. Borders are
a kind of protection where when it s crossed a person may feel violated or
uncomfortable. When you first meet someone are your walls put up and surrounded
by electric fences and barbed wire or are the gates wide open? In my childhood, I let
everyone in my life without question. In about eighth grade my insecurities made me
put a cage around my thoughts and my relationships with others. I created a border in
my life that could not be crossed by anyone. I hid myself and ended many
friendships. I didn t let anyone in unless they had a master key into my life.
Imagine a life without borders. What do you think it would feel like if you didn t
always feel uncomfortable in certain situations? Borders are holding you back and
controlling large parts of your life. I would like to meet new people and explore new
fantasies. I don t want to feel uncomfortable or vulnerable when a stranger might
just want to sit and talk about their day with me. Do you ever have a time where
you are walking and you see a person coming towards you? You think they are just
going to pass right by you but they don t and here you are standing face to face with
this person and you both begin to do the dance of what do I do know? , moving from
left to right simultaneously until you just stop completely, look at each other
awkwardly and then finally pass. We ve created that feeling of anxiety and

Emmanuel and his mother live in an urban community housing complex. The
building is worn down and dirty from the urban dust, cockroaches, and mold.
Emmanuel is five years of age and has suffered from asthma for the last two years.
One evening, his mother poured him some milk and put him to bed. Shortly
afterward, Emmanuel woke up wheezing and coughing. As he gasped for air, he
became more and more anxious. His mother ran for his inhaler, but he was too upset
and restless to use it. Emmanuel s skin became moist with sweat, and as he began to
tire, his wheezing became quieter. His mother called 911 and waited anxiously for
the ambulance to arrive.

Scapegoat Research Paper
A scapegoat is someone or something that receives all the blame for when
something goes wrong. Scapegoats have been humanity s way of pointing the
finger and ignoring any wrongdoing that may have led to a failure. No one ever
wants to take responsibility when a failure occurs, but there s always someone
around to take the glory if success is achieved. Historically speaking, scapegoats
were more of a reason people used to do bad things. Hitler, for instance, used the
Jewish religion and people who practiced it in his country as his scapegoat for
trying to achieve domination. No one wants to gain the responsibility and criticism
that comes with failure, but appointing a scapegoat seems to be the easy way of
dealing with it. In ancient societies, scapegoats were very popular and there were
even specific animals and people who would be sacrificed if something went wrong.
I think that was done more as part of religious practice, but the idea of a scapegoat
taking the blamestill stands. The people would most likely have been criminals or
problematic people in the society and who would easily be accepted as a scapegoat
for any failures experienced. As time continued, scapegoats were not as... Show more

is simple, they are the person to blame when things aren t going the way the general
public likes, but nothing besides harsh words and what has been done wrong is
Types Of Techniques Used By Different Learners
Introduction:
Study groups types are different types of techniques used by different learners, both
in and out of school that are in place to maximize the results of the students. These
techniques relate to the character of the learner and thus making studying easier and
more enjoyable. There are in total seventy one learning styles, but four are identified
at school level: visual, auditory, kinaesthetic and read and write.
After taking the Learning style assessment task, I was placed in the auditory learning
style, I was unsure about this style of learning because I have not learnt in auditory
ways throughout my learning career, but as I read through the perks that being an
auditory learner has, and the characteristics that are associated with it, it made me
query my current style of learning.
Auditory learning:
The learning style assessment task asks a total of 20 questions on how you would
react to everyday situations and thus determines your character placing you in a
learning style. Realising that the results are based off character, I wanted to find out
the characteristics of an auditory learner and thus find the characteristics of myself.
Wikipedia provided a list of the characteristics, I manipulated this list to the
characteristics that appeal to me:
Is not afraid to speak in class.
Likes oral reports.
Follows spoken directions well.
Enjoys acting, being on stage.
Is able to memorize lines for a skit easily.

Ethnicity And Its Impact On Development Essay
Ethnicity has always been seen as a factor that helped bring people in a certain
community together. In earlier years, ethnicity was nothing more than just identity
that people were proud of. However times have changed and the silver lining that was
in ethnicity has begun to fade and in some areas, it has completed ceased to exist.
Today, ethnic ambitions have continuously replaced the patriotism of people to a
nationfurther dividing their loyalties to their nation (Manyasa, 2005:69). Tribal
orientations and ethnic labels have taken over in most of African states. In such
cases, a person is first loyal to their ethnic groupand then second comes the nation.
This is a scenario that has been seen to impact on development. That is to say, both
negative and positive ethnicityhas an effect on development. Unfortunately, negative
ethnicity tends to be more pronounced. As it is well known, development is a multi
faceted process that can be hampered by several factors.
Development in any society is meant to positively impact the lives of the people
through advancing in terms of social and economic status. Ideally development
brings about opportunities for the people but when these opportunities are hindered
due to the fact that one belongs to a certain ethnic group, then development is
blocked. Existence of various ethnic groups in a country does not necessarily mean
conflicts, but when competition among these groups arises, then conflict is inevitable

an airborne firefighter you really need to be in phenomenal shape in order to
perform your duties. Being in good shape is very beneficial when it comes to this
job and the healthier you are the longer you can live, Jason says this when talking
about the training during his first year with his smoke jumping association (78).
Another large benefit to this career choice is making new friends. When Jason
moved into to his home within the association he had to learn and train with 3
other firefighters. With them constantly being together and experiencing all these
difficulties together has made them become a team or even better, a family. Jason
and his new brothers have been together from the beginning and never looked back

Symmetry In Soccer
Soccer is a worldwide sport where there are 2 teams of eleven trying to win the
game only using their feet. Only the goalies on the team can use their hands in
order to block the ball from going into the goal. One of the biggest math branches
that take place in soccer is geometry because soccer involves a lot of shapes,
measurements, and angles. If a player uses this branch of math, they can easily win
the game. Math can be very important in soccer even when the player doesn t realize
that they are using math. A tradition soccer field is 125 yards (375 feet) by 75 feet
(225 feet). The goal box is 6 yards (18 feet) by 20 yards (60 feet). The penalty box is
18 yard (54 feet) by 40 yards ( 120 feet). Measurement is really important in soccer.
Math in soccer The first role of math when it comes to soccer is symmetry.
Symmetry is very helpful when making a soccer field because 1 half of the field
has to be identical to the other side so that the game can be age appropriate and can
be fair to both teams. The field can also involve many other shapes like the corner
arc, goal area, penalty box, and the center. Every single line on both sides has to be
the same size and identical. The ball itself plays a big role in math. The shape of
the ball is very important. The ball has to be a sapphire so that it can roll and do its
job smoothly. The ball has to also be a sapphire because the player had to use the
right amount of force to hit the ball and make it roll smoothly, if the ball
People Who Supported Tattoos

groups, signaling time spent in jail, punk status, or membership in a motorcycle

situations. People used to get tattoos for peace, with beautiful or calm designs, and
/or the names of loved ones. There has been an increase in the placement of body art
involving puncturing of the skin from the tattooartist. Tattooed people were less likely
to claim a religious denomination than the non tattooed. Little is known about the
prevalence and consequences of body art application. (Amy J. Derick 2006). That

Women, Oppression, And Treatment Of Young Girls And
Women...
From the moment the first American settlers stepped off their musty ship and laid
foot on the fertile soil which makes up our great nation, women in America have
almost always been seen as inferior when compared to their male counterparts.
What s more, Americans have a rich history in oppressing those we deem to be
lesser. In terms of women, this oppression has taken on many forms throughout the
years. From not being able to go to school to receive a proper education, to being
denied suffrage, to being criticized for how they look or what they wear, women
have encountered obstacles that men can sometimes only imagine. We as a nation
have a defining past in which women were, and sometimes still are, expected to
look or act in a manner defined as appropriate by men and even by each other.
Nowadays, it seems as though we are attempting to compensate for the years of
mistreatment by sending positive messages of acceptance to young girls and
women alike. However, while one half of the population is being praised for their
uniqueness, there is still another half who are being left to fend for themselves in
the shadows. Men and boys, though always perceived as the strong and
indestructible members of society, are not given the same encouraging spotlight as
women and girls. We live in a world where problems related to self image and self
worth are genderneutral; they do not merely seek to harm a single sex. Why then,
does society typically only remind women how truly special they
Aircraft Accidents Caused by Weath
Abstract
Accidents in the aviation industry can occur due to many factors. An aviation
accident is the worst nightmare of every pilot or passenger that has ever ridden in an
aircraft. Although air travel is one of the safest forms of transportation, accidents do
happen with dramatic and terrifying results. The causes of these aviation accidents
vary greatly depending on specific circumstances and problems that may develop
during the flight process. Weather is one of the factors that can influence an aircraft
accident in a number of ways. There are several weather factors that cause and
contributed to aircraft accidents. An aircraft can become directly impacted by

Turbulence
Turbulence is the movement of unstable air and can be used by many factors.
Accidents caused by turbulence are contributed due to turbulence is 75% of all
weather related accidents and incident (PBS). Turbulence is a major aviation
hazard, and all aircrafts are vulnerable to turbulent motions. It can be present at any
altitude and in a wide range of weather conditions, often occurring in relatively
clear skies as clear air turbulence. Any aircraft entering turbulent conditions is
vulnerable to damages. The effects of turbulence can range from a bumping of the
aircraft that can be discomforting for passengers and crew. It can also cause
sudden accelerations that can result in serious injury or temporary loss of aircraft
control. Clear air turbulence is not only dangerous, it also has a major impact on
the efficiency of flight operations due to rerouting and delays of aircraft. According
to the FAA, From 1980 through 2008 U.S. air carriers had 234 turbulence accidents,
resulting in 298 serious injuries and three fatalities (Turbulence: Staying Safe). In
1997, a Japanese passenger on a United Airlines flight from Tokyo to Honolulu was
jolted out of her seat when the plane encountered turbulence. She suffered fatal
injuries when she hit the armrest on the way back down. The passenger was not
wearing a seatbelt; according to the NTSB accident brief (Brief of Accident).

complete with detailed body contours. There are presently two types of scanning
technology that are used in full body scanners: millimeter wave scanners and
backscatter scanners. A millimeter wave scanner is able to use radio waves that are
of tremendously high frequencies, which are decoded in order to produce a 3 D

person being scanned. Both scanners are effective at detecting contraband that may be

They say the low level beam does deliver a slight dose of radiation to the body but
because the beam concentrates on the skin, one of the most radiation sensitive
organs of the human body, that dose may be up to twenty times higher than first
estimated. University of California biochemist David Agard is quoted saying
While the dose would be safe if it were distributed through the volume of the entire
body, the dose to the skin may be dangerously high. He adds, Ionizing radiation
such as the X rays used in these scanners have the potential to induce chromosome
damage, and that can lead to cancer. People with medical implants such as
pacemakers should avoid electromagnetic generating pulse body scanners as they
can significantly alter the waveform of the pacemaker pulse. Travelers are not
informed that they are in the line to get a full body scan until they actually see it in
the process. Once a traveler questions it, the TSA becomes suspicious and the
traveler could be interrogated. There are issues with the lack of signs in the
airports informing travelers about these full body scanners and the lack of signs
informing travelers that you can opt out of them for another form of screening
method. A pro of a full body scanner is it detects items such as non metallic
weapons and explosives not picked up by metal detectors but the body scanner only
scans surfaces. So, will cavity searches be routine

The Little Cloud Literary Analysis
Though they may seem like simple stories meant for children, picture books can
often contain deeper meanings using not only the story but also the design of the
book. The artwork, placement of the text, and even the usage of the book s gutter
is intentional and can contribute to the central theme of the book. Eric Carle s
Little Cloud is an example of a simple looking picture book that is more than it
seems. Through this story about a cloud changing shape, Carle demonstrates the
process of children discovering their own identities and being accepted into society.
The wrap around cover is a painted tissue collage of a smiling cloud, neither
cartoonish nor realistic, but rather like something an elementary student could
produce. However, the cloud is actually a deceptively intricate blend of white, grey,
and blue, and its background of blue is a combination of blues and greens. Inside of
the dust jacket are the flap covers, which Carle utilized with a handwritten note to his
readers. He talks about cloud gazing and the power of imagination,... Show more

story, Little Cloud doesn t follow the other clouds, instead morphing into various
things it observes while drifting overhead. In one part of the book, the cloud takes
the shape of two trees because Little Cloud liked the way trees never moved and
stayed in one place (pg. 13 14). This is similar to what impressionable children do
when they imitate adults. To them, being an adult means they won t be forced to do
things they don t want to do. Little Cloud wants to know what it is like to be
stationary, but mimicking trees does not mean literally becoming a
Asthma Analysis
Asthma is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by acute episodic exacerbations
against a background of chronic persistent inflammation associated with structural
changes that may produce persistent symptoms and impaired pulmonary function
(Martinez, 2011).
Asthma severity and asthma control are different terms but related pathogenesis.
Asthma severity describes the underlying disease process in absence of concurrent
treatment to determine the initial step of therapy. Asthma control describes the
clinical status of disease in response to interventions. However, the individual
parameters which determine asthma severity and asthma control overlap significantly
(Yawn et al, 2006).
Assessment of asthma control has become a key element in asthma management.
Asthma control is assessed from two domains: symptom control and risk factors.
Pulmonary function is an important measure of asthma control and future risk and
can be used as a monitoring tool in children. According to the level of asthma control,

Airway inflammation and tissue injury with subsequent abnormal repair may lead to
structural changes in the airway of asthmatic subjects that defined as airway

airway hyperresponsiveness, and it has been associated with increased disease
severity and impaired pulmonary function. [5] Reversal of remodeling gain

Discourse Communities Essay
To be a part of a discourse community, one must be credible, possess factual
knowledge and draw on the values of its members to be accepted into the community.
At the same time, a person must learn typical ways people in that community
communicate and argue. They share a certain genre type of writing. Members of
discourse communities provide information and feedback that are imperative in order
for that discourse community to grow. In the following paper, I will discuss three
discourse communities and a genre that they typically use: people who read
Nutritional Facts religiously, college students, and industrial organizational

Many Nutritional experts know that what is written on the cover of the box is
what the manufacturer wants you to read: Low Calories or No Sugar or Fat Free
or Diet . All printed in big, bold, colorful lettering. Most of the time the product
claims may be exaggerated, misleading and distracting and they only tell half the
story. In reality, labels are a part of marketing strategy planned for attracting,
promoting and motivating the consumer to buy. The back of the packaging can
conflict the health claim made on the front of it. So the Low Fat claim on the front
does not necessarily mean low fat; it could just mean a bit less fat than the version
that does not make such a claim. Many people in this discourse community know
that reading the ingredients are just as important as reading the label. Evidently, the
people who are a part of the Nutritional community are focused on living a healthy
and lasting life. For example, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and grain products that
contain dietary fiber, particularly soluble fiber, and low in saturated fat and
cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease (Food). Whether they would like to
gain, lose, or maintain their weight they refer to this label which is ultimately the
deciding factor as to whether or not they will purchase/use the product. Moving

rewarding and most definitely shaping. Full time university students are

This is known as the spiritual embryonic stage and represents the intellectual

Ideology In The Revolution Of 1848 Essay
The Role of Ideology in the Revolutions of 1848
Year 1848 is described as mad year mad with fight for freedom. Already its first
months, in almost all parts of Europe, brought explosion of aims and aspirations,
which were accumulated during the after congress period. Revolutionary movements
spread throughout the whole Europe, apart from Russia, where the system of
serfdom did not allow any revolts, and Great Britain, where the reforms were carried
out in non revolutionary channels. Despite the differences in social, economic and
political structures of European countries, the revolutions of 1848 were characterised
by uniformity, and their ideology was a common denominator.

Because of overall crises, many reforms were needed, most of which had an
ideological background.
Nevertheless, the ideology did not play a huge role throughout the whole revolution.
Year 1848 can be divided into three periods which were characterised by variable
importance of new ideas of 19th century. The main ideology in opposition to the
order established during the Congress of Vienna was often called liberalism. This
name indicates that the primary motive of it was to strive after freedom in contrary
to dependence and restrictions forced on societies and individuals by absolute
monarchs. Colloquially, all people who were against absolute regime and were after
constitution established by nations representativer, were called liberals. They
demanded freedom of religion and tolerance, freedom of word, press and societies.
They thought that everybody should be equal as far as law is concerned.
Another 19th century idea was radicalism, which was pretty much the same ideology,
with only slight differences: radicals supported republican form of power rather than
constitutional monarchy, they wanted common right to vote, they were saying less
about freedom of an individual, more about social justice.
At the beginning of the revolutions 1848, the ideology was extremely important. All
social classes were in misery, because the outcome of

The Sharing Wisdom With African American Gentlemen
In today s society some people opprobrious African Americans especially, African
American males. Black men are defined as a threat to society and by the negative
images conveyed in media today. Black children, particularly black males, are being
raised in a world where there is a high probability of not graduating, being
unemployed, arrested, or dead. We can minimize this epidemic by enhancing the lives
of today s youth. In society parents and guardians are usually responsible for
accentuating the importance of values, morals, and ethics to our black children.
However, children will deeply discern these ideologies if they are clearly perpetrated
throughout the community. There are many community organizations using the

The mission of the Sharing Wisdom with African AmericanGentlemen program is
to extend resources and information specifically geared to uplift, educate, and
empower African American males. Most importantly, we want to share the
experiences of those who have prospered through difficulties to reach their success.
If African American males are able to see a role model, especially someone they can
relate to, they too, are more likely to long for success.
The only time some African Americans hear about African American history is inside
school, and usually the African American race are not the ones being adulated.
Learning about African American history is important because a lot of the issues we
faced in the past are repeating. In the past, black people could not drink from the
same fountain, use the same bathroom, or sit in the same seats. For many years,
black people were not worthy of the lifestyle that was offered to others. They were
considered less than human and so they were involved in intense labor and
experienced sexual racism. Some people use the Pathological Approach to explain
these hardships and how these issues could have contributed to instability and
disruption in African American families. The SWAAG program will educate our
males about the past. We will enhance their knowledge by teaching them quotes
written and said by African Americans, titles of books written by African Americans,
and the biographies of
Ancient Egypt-The Great Pyramid Of Giza
Egypt has had a complex history. At the beginning of recorded history, Egypt was
ruled by god kings called pharaohs. Each one attempted to outdo his predecessors in
the scale and complexity of his tomb. This competition led to Egypt s most
recognizable monuments: the pyramids. Pharaohs such as Djoser, Snefru, and Khufu
built ever bigger monuments to their own glory and to the gods they worshiped.
What innovations were created in the path to the largest pyramid the Great pyramid
of Giza, and what caused those innovations?
In the 1st dynasty, pharaohs built their tombs at Abydos, on the west bank of the
Nile. According to Egyptian myth, the western desert was the land of the dead, due
to the fact that the sun set in the west and was reborn in the east. The pharaohs built
mastabas, mounds of dirt and rock roughly shaped like a brick. In the center of each
structure, a shaft was dropped down for many feet. The bottom of that shaft was

According to Ancient Egypt, this was the first pyramid to be began as a true
pyramid, although still employing inwardly sloping masonry as found in step
pyramids. The latter feature has contributed to its being externally the best
preserved of all pyramids. He built the pyramid s base at a 54 degree inclination. At
the same time, he began building the interior, consisting of a lower corbelled
chamber with the passage to another corbelled chamber. The pyramid had one
unique feature only seen again in the middle kingdom. According to Guardian s
Egypt, The Bent Pyramid is the only known pyramid from the Old Kingdom to
have two separate entrances on two different faces. The second entrance is located
high up on the western side of the pyramid. However, once again, something went
wrong. The pyramid seems to be too steep, as well as being built on unstable
bedrock. Snefru s engineers changed the angle in the upper section to an angle of 43
degrees, leading to its bent
Dr. Seuss Ingenious Rhyming Scheme
Module 2
1.Shannon, David. No, David! New York: Scholastic, Inc., 1998. Print.
This is an excellent book for children 3 7 who may have difficulty understanding
why they are told no so often. The illustrations depict a mischief loving little boy
with a large head and huge smiles as he good naturedly causes pure chaos. Children
are sure to find his antics hilarious. However, along the way the book teaches that
there is a good reason that the adult is telling the boy no and even young kids can
pick up on the logic behind the reprimand.
2.Seuss, Dr. The Cat in the Hat. New York: Random House, Inc., 1985. Print.
As always, Dr. Seuss ingenious rhyming scheme is creative as well as humorous.
Kids will enjoy the absurdity of the characters while learning about rhymes. The
book also teaches that inviting strangers into one s house is a very bad idea. It
teaches this lesson firmly without introducing topics that may scare young children.
Overall, this book is a masterpiece and will continue to be popular for many years to
come.
3.Silverstein, Shel. The Giving Tree. New York: HarperCollins Publishers, 1985.
Print.
While most kids won t understand the deeper meaning behind this book, the giving
tree is a lovely example of selfless, unconditional love. Children sometimes struggle
to focus on people other than themselves. The Giving Tree introduces how life can
be lived completely in the service of others. A teacher may use this book to encourage
students to show more respect
Essay about Women in the Work Force- 1960s
Women in the Work Force 1960s
The 1960s were a time of social and political identification for American women.
Despite the victory of voting rights, women still experienced discrimination in daily
life. With the current millenium drawing to a close, women today still express
concern of unequal treatment. It is important to glance backwards in history and
remember the struggles that our mothers and grandmothers experienced. Thanks to
the women of the past, women of the present are able to participate in politics and
receive equal pay for equal jobs. The struggle continues, but we conquer more
discrimination every year.
It has always been a popular misconception that women are the weaker sex.1 This
idea leads to the opinion that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still despite the number of women taking a stand in civil rights fights, very few of
these women became famous for their efforts: When thinking about the most famous
civil rights activists of the 1960s the number of famous male participants outnumbers
the comparatively minute number of famous female participants .4 Once again
women s efforts were forgotten since they were always seen as less effective and
authoritative than the men involved in the movements.
In the 1960s women were being recruited into the labor force in large numbers
making education a necessity. As economic growth continued to rise, there were
not enough men to fill all the job positions. Women were expected to stay in the
kitchen but needed in the work force. The 1960s saw an increase of 19.5% in the
labor force.5 The greatest increase in employment was seen in service jobs such as
clerical.6 Women already dominated such jobs, but the increase in the number of
these positions allowed more women to work outside the home: ...the old female
dominated occupations provided the principal vehicle for expanding women s roles
in the labor force .7
Instead of graduating from high school and not pursuing further
Age Related Hearing Loss
Presbycusis The human body in itself is an incredible masterpiece, but particularly
how we as humans hear and perceive sound is amazing. Our ears are used in
various aspects of life including enjoying music, following directions, and just its
use in everyday conversation. As we grow older our hearing abilities tend to
decline which can be a natural part of the aging process. Hearing loss that is
associated with older age is known as presbycusis (Huang, Q., Tang, J. , 2010).
There are more people that suffer hearing loss in their later years due to increased
life expectancy (ŠESTIĆ, M. R., MILIĆEVIĆ, S. (2013). As Frisina wrote, in
association with the recent expansion of the aged segment of our populace, age
related hearing loss presbycusis constitutes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The primary reason could be that they are unaware of the extent of the hearing loss
that they have. According to research conducted in both the United States and
Australia, the average elderly person waits 6 10 years before the go and receive help
(ŠESTIĆ, M. R., MILIĆEVIĆ, S. (2013). That is a substantial amount of time
where their ability to communicate effectively has been affected negatively affected
and the degree of loss most likely has worsened. In addition to delaying treatment,
the majority of those who are diagnosed choose to not wear their hearing aids
(Г–berg, M. 2015). In a separate study, the participants who had a range of ages
from 55 80 were asked how often they would use their hearing aid. The answers
given were then organized into three categories, Always, when I need them , or
doubtful on when to use it The results were, the most common answer of the oldest
participants was doubtful about when to use it. Typical comments from those who
were doubtful included I will try to use them, and I hope I could get used to them
(Г–berg, M. 2015). The age range for the oldest group was 76 to 80. This
demonstrates that the older that someone is who has the loss, the less likely they are
going to use their hearing aids when
Feudalism In Siegfried
IT S INTERESTING to see how history is distorted in the act of grasping it: how it
bends to fit the mind of the person who takes it in. You can investigate a historical
epoch and watch as others, arriving at disparate conclusions, paint a portrait with a
selection of colors chosen to fulfill their needs. A man is bound to feel that in the
careless approach of others, he himself stands accused: is he not guilty of the same
crime, of distorting history to his own ends, lacking merely the person with sufficient
subtlety to call him to account?
Joachim Fest said that the political maturity of the German people came only after
the loss of their inner, spiritually romantic interior the relic of feudalism that had not
yet given way. This world of glorious Heroes and Grand Gestures which Wagner
seeked to portray in music, and which Hitler forged a connection to largely through
Wagner s operas, apparently watching Siegfried 30 or more times. Ah, Heroic artwork.
One of the main differences between the lingering feudalistic mindset of Germany
and the individualist mindset which was rising in the West, was the relationship to
authority. In the West, it was gradually being understood that self interest could be
reliably deferred to when dealing with one s superiors and even the concept of a
superior, of someone placed above oneself in the natural order, was becoming
incomprehensible. In Germany, respect for authority still had it s unquestioning,
deferential, semi religious

How To Write An Essay Introduction. Best way to write an introduction for an essay school

  • 1. How To Write An Essay Introduction Crafting an essay on the intricacies of composing an essay introduction can be a challenging endeavor. At first glance, it might seem paradoxical – attempting to elucidate the art of initiating an essay while being confronted with the very task itself. The challenge lies in striking the right balance between providing insightful guidance and avoiding the risk of sounding overly didactic. The difficulty stems from the need to create an introduction that not only captivates the reader's attention but also sets the tone for the entire essay. It requires a delicate blend of creativity and precision to articulate a compelling thesis statement while offering a preview of the key arguments that will follow. Balancing the desire to be engaging with the necessity of remaining concise can be a tightrope walk. Moreover, the writer must grapple with the diverse nature of essays across different disciplines. What works as an effective introduction in a literary analysis may not necessarily be suitable for a scientific paper. The challenge lies in tailoring the approach to suit the specific requirements of the essay at hand. Furthermore, the writer must navigate the fine line between originality and convention. While an introduction should stand out and be unique, it must also adhere to certain established norms to ensure clarity and coherence. Striking this balance can be akin to navigating a maze of creativity and tradition. In essence, writing an essay on how to craft an essay introduction becomes a meta-exercise, requiring the author to apply the very principles they expound. It demands a keen understanding of the nuances involved in capturing the reader's interest and foreshadowing the essay's content, all while maintaining a scholarly tone. However, for those who find themselves daunted by the prospect of unraveling this enigma, assistance is available. Similar essays, along with a plethora of other academic writing services, can be effortlessly accessed on HelpWriting.net. Whether it's guidance on essay introductions or support with various writing tasks, the resources provided can serve as a compass through the challenging terrain of academic composition. Insects actually don t taste disgusting, and they usually have a commonly shared nutty taste, So you want to try a bug yet? • 3. The Specialization Of A Business Model Essay The Specialization Business Like the other models the specialization business model can be conflated with freelancers, solution based businesses, and also first to market models. Like the solution based model, the specialization model can be scaled up or built with the purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a step beyond the solution idea and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could even argue that this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization business focuses on a good or a service, the specialization model typically has extremely proprietary knowledge and techniques which cannot be easily replicated by competing firms. Often, patents and complex legal barriers to entry are established to protect the specialist s natural advantages. Elements of the freelance, solution, debt, and first to market business models are present in specialization models, but I classify this as a unique model of its own because the owners must protect their secrets yet clone themselves to scale up. There are countless legacy businesses built on industry secrets, and proprietary knowledge. McDonalds, Chick Fil A, and Kentucky Fried Chicken were all founded on very specialized formulas and techniques that even to this day are exceptionally protected. Completely opposite firms like DutchBoy paint, and computer platform firms like Oracle can also be considered specialization businesses and also have their own secrets to

  • 5. Conspiracy Theories Of The American Conspiracy Conspiracy has been deeply rooted into American culture since before the Constitution. Many Americans still believe that there are secret societies of the elite that exert great influence in not just the American government, but events on an international scale as well. These conspiracy theories appeal to a populist perspective, one that says that there are people much more powerful than the average American and they are knowingly infringing on American liberties, with the goal to either control or harm the country. These supposed conspiracy groups are well known because they have become engrained in America s culture for hundreds of years; elite groups such as the Illuminati and the Freemasons are known for stirring political anxiety in the early years of the American Republic. Some of this anxiety would be justified early on, but much of it would later prove to be hysteria and paranoia. As those Masonic groups would die down in relevance as the years went on, the paranoia that they created in conspiracy theorist s minds would be replaced by other branches of secret societies for the elite that were focused on wealth, political power, and globalist visions. Elite invite only groups, such as the Bilderbergs, the Skull and Bones, and the Bohemian Club are all looked at by some conspiracy theorists as organizing a New World Order that is outside of the public s eyes. Furthermore, other conspiracy theorists believe that it is not the secret societies that Americans should be

The final electron energy does not depend on the focusing cylinder voltage because it applies a force that is parallel to the magnetic field rather than perpendicular to it. 2. Do you think the electrons are emitted from the cathode with zero velocity, one velocity, or a range of velocities? Hint: The electrons inside the metal that are able to escape are a bit like a gas of molecules at finite temperature. I think that the electrons that are emitted from the cathode are emitted with a range of velocities (perhaps like a Boltzmann distribution where average speed clusters in the middle of the range). 3. To get the electrons to move at the same speed, we would have to turn up the voltage and this would overheat the expensive apparatus filament. 4. Why doesn t the magnetic field change the speed of the electrons? (Speed is taken to be the magnitude of the velocity. The velocity is a vector.) The magnetic field does not change the speed of the electrons. Since the magnetic field is always perpendicular to the velocity, only the electron movement direction changes and not the speed. 5. Cognitive Behavior Therapy And Family Based Treatment Anorexia nervosa is a debilitating disorder that affects the lives of many adolescents and can serious if not fatal consequences if not treated properly (Hurst Zimmer Gembeck, 2015; Wilson, Grilo, Vitousek, 2007; Westwood Kendal, 2012; Grave, Calugi, Ghoch, Conti Fairburn, 2014). Two interventions that are often used in the treatment of AN are cognitive behavior therapy and familybased treatment. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and family based treatment (FBT) can either be used separately or in conjunction depending on the patient s response and the degree of the disorder (Doyle, Le Grange, Loeb, Doyle, Crosby, 2012; Lock et al., 2015; Madden et al., 2015). Categorically, adolescents with anorexia nervosa have a chronic low body weight and are below 85 percent of their expected body weight (Lock, Fitzpatrick, 2007). Anorexia nervosa is most commonly diagnosed in adolescents, an age that can increase the risks of malnutrition, weight loss, osteoporosis, growth arrest, and absent puberty. Anorexia nervosa can damage an adolescent s identity, and has the highest death rates of any psychiatric illness (Aspen Boutelle, 2013; Grave et al., 2014). Adolescents that suffer from anorexia nervosa tend to be perfectionists causing them to focus on negative beliefs, fear of failure, and fear of disapproval. They are often high achievers, are inflexible and rigid in their thinking, and see their symptoms as achievements (Hurst Zimmer Gembeck, 2015; Westwood Kendal, 2012). Three themes emerge in anorexia nervosa patients: control, tensions between the client s wants and the clinical intervention, and therapeutic alliance (Westwood Kendal, 2012). For patients, anorexia nervosa both controls them and gives them control. Patients are torn between trying to overcome their disorder and enjoying the control they have over their body. Clients being treated for anorexia nervosa are challenged during treatment because they need to address both their physical and psychological needs (Westwood Kendal, 2012). They want to have a say during their
  • 9. Warming In Jack London s To Build A Fire On average, about 500 people in the world die from exposure to excessive natural cold per year. In Jack London s To Build a Fire, the main character is faced with the same problem. He is all alone in the frigidly cold Yukon climate. Eventually, the cold gets to him. He surrenders to the cold and dies slowly after freezing from falling in a frozen creek. The three major mistakes the man made that got him killed were not noticing that the dog didn t wantto go on the ice, building his desperately needed fire under a tree, and ignoring the advice the old timer on Sulphur Creek gave him. The first mistake the man made was not noticing that the dog didn t want to go on the ice. The man was walking on a frozen river that had traps. These were places in the river where the ice was looked solid, but any pressure put onto it would cause it to collapse into the freezing cold water below. At first, the man tried to throw the dog he was traveling with onto the ice to see if there were any traps. When the man did this, he should have noticed that the dog did not want to do it. If he would have noticed and followed the dog s lead, he would not have fallen through the ice. He would not be freezing in the first place. The dog knew what it was doing, for it had been in the Yukonwilderness longer than the man had. If the man would have paid attention to the dog, he would not be soaking wet and needa fire. The next mistake the protagonist made was building his desperately needed
  • 10. The Importance Of The Warrior Culture In The Iliad And... The Iliad and Beowulf are two important stories that illustrate critical components of the warrior culture. Achilles and Beowulf are similar in nature as they value pride and honor to the highest degree in their way of life. They, however, play a central role in highlighting the importance of the Anglo Saxons and Greeks perception of their burialrites. It is through these character s experiences that the reader is able to see how commemoration of the dead exemplifies the significance of their greatness. This paper will be examining the warrior culture of these two stories and how honor played a role in demonstrating the importance of ritual rites for their respective cultures. Beowulf embodies extraordinary qualities such as heroism, bravery, and superhuman strength. These characteristics are similar to that of Achilles. Furthermore, both of their incredible strengths allow them to prevail against other strong warriors in battle. Perhaps the quality that best describes both of these individuals is honor. Achilles displayed this trait from the beginning to the end in the Iliad. After enduring a public humiliation in the hands of Agamemnon, Achilles declared that he would withdraw all his men from battle and no longer fight for the Greeks. Although the Greeks suffered many casualties, Achilles pride and honor prevented him from participating in battle. It wasn t until the death of his warrior companion, Patroclus, that Achilles returned to battle. His refusal to partake
  • 11. Design of Multi-Agent Systems Design of MAS In multi agent systems, there are four basic elements that collaborate to build the design of the system. The first element is agents, which composes of group of autonomous agents that are considered the first and main part of the internal structure of the MAS design (Manzoni, 2009). Those agents are different in their numbers, method of response, smartness, dealing with problems, and internal architecture in general. Since agents are necessary to interact and cooperate with each other to find a solution for common tasks or uncommon tasks as well, by communicating via special messages that can arrive at any time. Hence, every one of these agents must be based on particular information in regarding of its actions and making decisions (Wooldrige, 2009). Communication and interaction is the second element of the MAS design, which is considered the central estate of any distributed system. However, the interaction only happens when two or more agents share the same interest in regard to solving a problem. More than that, it is significantly important in the system because of the difference between agents (Wooldrige, 2009). Agents that are in the same system interact in three different ways: direct interaction (messages passing), through an intermediary agent, or through their environment. In more detail, they could be directly communicated by sending messages when they understand each other s language. This means speaking the same language and using the same

Having only dealt with storm surges and localized flooding, there were no operational plans or capacity to deal with a disaster of this magnitude in Maldives (Government of Maldives, et al., 2005, p. 9). • 13. The Connection Between The Human Soul And Soul In Dante s... The connection between the human soul and the human body, specifically in their relationship to sin is evidenced in the work of St Bernard of Clairvaux. St. Bernard s work On Loving God emphasizes the value of human relationships with God, as well as the virtues that accompany these relationships, or lack thereof. Similarly, Dante s journey from Heaven to Hell in The Divine Comedy concerns the importance of virtue and the consequences of acting immorally. Bernard highlights, and that is reflected in Dante s illustration of sin, especially envy as constant, exhaustive movement. St. Bernard describes an individual who is consumed with greed as one who all the gold in the world could never give a moment of rest to one of these exhausted souls . By describing souls who are greedy as exhausted , St. Bernard references the physical toll on the body that envy incites and also establishes a connection between the soul and the physical body. Dante s illustration of the envious souls strongly coincides with St. Bernard s statement that envious individuals as being in vain travail and experiencing constant exhaustion . These statements of physical labor and fatigue associated with envy strongly correlate that sins are associated with the souls inhabiting an earthly body. Exhaustion is a feeling that is closely tied to earthly feelings and the demands of a human body. By describing the souls in Hell as exhausted demonstrates that they will forever be confided to their sinful body and the negative feelings that accompany it. Dante s emphasis on the souls that experience earthly feelings in Hell connect to St. Bernard s fourth degree of love and how the oneness with God cannot be attained with a human

The bus driver told Rosa Parksthat she would have to give up her seat to a white person. She refused and was arrested. The seven elements of art are line, shape, color, value, form , texture, and space. Somethings that these elements help with are make the artwork more realistic. It can also help how realistic the details are and how it looks three dimensional. The first element I used was line. Line helps you make a outline of what you are trying to make. In earlier years, ethnicity was nothing more than just identity that people were proud of. However times have changed and the silver lining that was in ethnicity has begun to fade and in some areas, it has completed ceased to exist. Today, ethnic ambitions have continuously replaced the patriotism of people to a nationfurther dividing their loyalties to their nation (Manyasa, 2005:69). Tribal orientations and ethnic labels have taken over in most of African states. In such cases, a person is first loyal to their ethnic groupand then second comes the nation. This is a scenario that has been seen to impact on development. That is to say, both negative and positive ethnicityhas an effect on development. Unfortunately, negative ethnicity tends to be more pronounced. As it is well known, development is a multi faceted process that can be hampered by several factors. Development in any society is meant to positively impact the lives of the people through advancing in terms of social and economic status. Ideally development brings about opportunities for the people but when these opportunities are hindered due to the fact that one belongs to a certain ethnic group, then development is blocked. Existence of various ethnic groups in a country does not necessarily mean conflicts, but when competition among these groups arises, then conflict is inevitable (Alemayehu, 2009). In

  • 28. Symmetry In Soccer Soccer is a worldwide sport where there are 2 teams of eleven trying to win the game only using their feet. Only the goalies on the team can use their hands in order to block the ball from going into the goal. One of the biggest math branches that take place in soccer is geometry because soccer involves a lot of shapes, measurements, and angles. If a player uses this branch of math, they can easily win the game. Math can be very important in soccer even when the player doesn t realize that they are using math. A tradition soccer field is 125 yards (375 feet) by 75 feet (225 feet). The goal box is 6 yards (18 feet) by 20 yards (60 feet). The penalty box is 18 yard (54 feet) by 40 yards ( 120 feet). Measurement is really important in soccer. Math in soccer The first role of math when it comes to soccer is symmetry. Symmetry is very helpful when making a soccer field because 1 half of the field has to be identical to the other side so that the game can be age appropriate and can be fair to both teams. The field can also involve many other shapes like the corner arc, goal area, penalty box, and the center. Every single line on both sides has to be the same size and identical. The ball itself plays a big role in math. The shape of the ball is very important. The ball has to be a sapphire so that it can roll and do its job smoothly. The ball has to also be a sapphire because the player had to use the right amount of force to hit the ball and make it roll smoothly, if the ball

From the moment the first American settlers stepped off their musty ship and laid foot on the fertile soil which makes up our great nation, women in America have almost always been seen as inferior when compared to their male counterparts. What s more, Americans have a rich history in oppressing those we deem to be lesser. In terms of women, this oppression has taken on many forms throughout the years. From not being able to go to school to receive a proper education, to being denied suffrage, to being criticized for how they look or what they wear, women have encountered obstacles that men can sometimes only imagine. We as a nation have a defining past in which women were, and sometimes still are, expected to look or act in a manner defined as appropriate by men and even by each other. Nowadays, it seems as though we are attempting to compensate for the years of mistreatment by sending positive messages of acceptance to young girls and women alike. However, while one half of the population is being praised for their uniqueness, there is still another half who are being left to fend for themselves in the shadows. Men and boys, though always perceived as the strong and indestructible members of society, are not given the same encouraging spotlight as women and girls. We live in a world where problems related to self image and self worth are genderneutral; they do not merely seek to harm a single sex. Why then, does society typically only remind women how truly special they

The main ideology in opposition to the order established during the Congress of Vienna was often called liberalism. Another 19th century idea was radicalism, which was pretty much the same ideology, with only slight differences: radicals supported republican form of power rather than constitutional monarchy, they wanted common right to vote, they were saying less about freedom of an individual, more about social justice. In the past, black people could not drink from the same fountain, use the same bathroom, or sit in the same seats. For many years, black people were not worthy of the lifestyle that was offered to others. They were considered less than human and so they were involved in intense labor and experienced sexual racism. Some people use the Pathological Approach to explain these hardships and how these issues could have contributed to instability and disruption in African American families. The SWAAG program will educate our males about the past. We will enhance their knowledge by teaching them quotes written and said by African Americans, titles of books written by African Americans, and the biographies of

Each one attempted to outdo his predecessors in the scale and complexity of his tomb. This competition led to Egypt s most recognizable monuments: the pyramids. Pharaohs such as Djoser, Snefru, and Khufu built ever bigger monuments to their own glory and to the gods they worshiped. What innovations were created in the path to the largest pyramid the Great pyramid of Giza, and what caused those innovations? In the 1st dynasty, pharaohs built their tombs at Abydos, on the west bank of the Nile. According to Egyptian myth, the western desert was the land of the dead, due to the fact that the sun set in the west and was reborn in the east. Despite the victory of voting rights, women still experienced discrimination in daily life. With the current millenium drawing to a close, women today still express concern of unequal treatment. It is important to glance backwards in history and remember the struggles that our mothers and grandmothers experienced. Thanks to the women of the past, women of the present are able to participate in politics and receive equal pay for equal jobs. The struggle continues, but we conquer more discrimination every year. You can investigate a historical epoch and watch as others, arriving at disparate conclusions, paint a portrait with a selection of colors chosen to fulfill their needs. A man is bound to feel that in the careless approach of others, he himself stands accused: is he not guilty of the same crime, of distorting history to his own ends, lacking merely the person with sufficient subtlety to call him to account? Joachim Fest said that the political maturity of the German people came only after the loss of their inner, spiritually romantic interior the relic of feudalism that had not yet given way. This world of glorious Heroes and Grand Gestures which Wagner seeked to portray in music, and which Hitler forged a connection to largely through Wagner s operas, apparently watching Siegfried 30 or more times. Ah, Heroic artwork. One of the main differences between the lingering feudalistic mindset of Germany and the individualist mindset which was rising in the West, was the relationship to authority. In the West, it was gradually being understood that self interest could be reliably deferred to when dealing with one s superiors and even the concept of a superior, of someone placed above oneself in the natural order, was becoming incomprehensible. In Germany, respect for authority still had it s unquestioning, deferential, semi religious
