Excellent Essays Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Excellent Essays Examples" can be quite challenging, as it
demands a delicate balance between providing insightful analysis and showcasing exemplary
writing. One might find it paradoxical to write about exceptional essays while striving to create a
piece that lives up to the standards set by those very examples. The pressure to meet high
expectations and produce a work that exemplifies excellence in itself can be overwhelming.
Selecting relevant and noteworthy examples requires thorough research, as the essay's credibility
hinges on the quality of illustrations provided. It's a meticulous process of sifting through a
plethora of essays, critically evaluating each one, and extracting the key elements that contribute
to their excellence. The challenge lies not only in identifying these elements but also in
articulating them coherently to convey a comprehensive understanding to the readers.
Furthermore, attempting to emulate the style and finesse of excellent essays without losing one's
own voice can be an intricate task. Striking the right balance between admiration for exemplary
writing and maintaining originality poses a unique set of challenges. The fear of unintentional
mimicry can hinder the creative process, making it a fine line to tread.
Moreover, addressing the subjective nature of excellence in writing adds another layer of
complexity. What one person considers an excellent essay may not align with another's
perspective. Balancing a diverse range of examples to cater to various tastes and preferences
while maintaining a cohesive narrative is a formidable task.
In conclusion, delving into the realm of "Excellent Essays Examples" can be a daunting
endeavor, demanding extensive research, a keen analytical mind, and the ability to navigate the
thin line between emulation and originality. However, the rewards lie in the opportunity to
enhance one's own writing skills by studying and dissecting examples of exceptional
craftsmanship.
For those seeking assistance or examples beyond the scope of this essay, it's worth exploring

Niggaz With Attitude
N.W.A. (Niggaz With Attitude) emerged in Compton, California, they were a hip
hop based group that was widely considered as one of the seminal acts of the
gangster rap sub genre of hip hop. The group was active from 1986 to 1991 and
endured controversy due to their explicit nature of their lyrics (6). The things they
said in their music was of a shocker to society or mostly to their white listeners.
These explicit lyrics were not supposed to be said out loud in public, let alone in
music. During their time, they were banned from many mainstream U.S. radio
stations, prevented from touring, and faced obstacles from the police (6). N.W.A.
originally consisted of artists Eazy E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and
Arabian Prince. With Arabian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Fuck tha Police released it developed a media storm, which resulted in a
warning letter from the FBI to the group s distributor, Priority Records (1). This
song was a protest targeted at the Los Angeles police. Protesting police brutality
and racial profiling. The song itself expressed the approval of violence against
police. The songs main vocals were Ice Cube, Eazy E, and MC Ren. With Dr. Dre,
Ice Cube, and The D.O.C. doing the intro. The rest of the group, except DJ Yella,
incorporated 3 skits throughout the song with a cop being added to these skits. The
hook in itself, explicitly repeats Fuck tha police!, as the song is titled. This song is a
part of their album Straight Outta Compton. This song tells about the case of N.W.A.
versus the police department and Ice Cube testifying first, which is the group rapping
the testimony. The testimony; song, tells about racial profiling towards the group and
the police having the authority to do what they please to them. They go through
searches and beatings from the police. With MC Ren testifying next about his
experience. Telling about the white majority having power over the rest, using
violence against the police, and not caring anymore. Then finally ending with Eazy E
and his testimony. Which tells about him being exhausted of the treatment they

Lady Macbeths Downfall
In Shakespeare s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth devises a cunning plan to murder King
Duncan in order for Macbeth ascend to the throne. Lady Macbeth says We fail!/ but
screw your courage to the sticking place/ and we will not fail . Lady Macbeth is
telling Macbeth that they cannot fail, but because Macbeth and Lady Macbethdeduce
that power is more important than one s conscience, their scheme does not
materialize as they speculated. The Macbeths fail in their quest for power because
they underestimate nature, one s conscience, and man s fallibility.
In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth says unsex me here when she is about to fulfill the plan.
Lady Macbeth is asking the spirits to strip away everything that makes her a woman,
in order for her to achieve her malicious end. Traditionally, femininity is synonymous
with compassion, maternal instincts, and kindness whereas masculinity is
synonymous with independence, tenacity, and assertiveness. It is in Lady Macbeth s
nature to be motherly and gentle and she cannot change her nature in order to make
herself feel better about the horrible actions she plans to commit. Lady Macbeth
attempts to overrule her feminine nature, which is foolhardy and one of the causes of
her dismay. Another reason why the Macbeth s plan goes awry is because Macbeth
and Lady Macbeth think they could justify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We Need A New Criminal Justice System
Do you know someone who has committed a crime? My friend John from high
school was an average B student. He always came to class and always did his
work. When it came to exam week he didn t show up. I was worried, so I called his
mom and asked what happened. She told me that John was in jail for marijuana
possession. He was only in jail for a week before his mom could bail him out.
While in jail, he missed his final exams and failed all his classes forcing him to take
summer school to graduate. Today, the United States has twenty five percent of the
world prisoners. One in every thirty one adults of the population is under some form
of correctional control. The United States has more people in prisonthan anywhere
else in the world. What is really sad about the United States is having prisons for
profit instead of healing for the accused and preventing them from committing
another crime. We need a new criminal justicesystem that focuses more on how we
convict people, provide appropriate sentencing, and rehabilitate through healing
instead of punishment. With the new criminal justice system, convictions will be
easier to figure out who is innocent versus the guilty. Better training for officers who
arrive on the scene will teach them how to react, what to assess, and how to
distinguish what is what. During interrogations the police officer and the accused
citizen will both have a camera behind them so there will be video evidence on how
the police ask the citizen

This was their sixth with in eight years. Phil Jackson coached some of the best

Each of those three players and the coach are in the Hall of Fame today, including
the assistant coach Tex Winter during the 97 98 season (1997 98 Chicago Bulls

Jordan is still the best player in the league, with unbreakable records. We can learn
from them what it takes to be a good team. While the Bulls set records still

Essay on The Road of Joseph Ratzinger t Pope Ementus
Benedict
The Pope is the Bishop of Rome and the leader of the Catholic Church. This is
something that started right after the death of Jesus. When Jesus resurrected, he said
to St. Peter, Feed my lambs.... Tend my sheep.... Feed my sheep. This command given
to Peter made him the head of the apostles, henceforth, making him the first Pope.
Peter would rule for approximately 34 years, and when he died he was succeeded
by St. Linus. The tradition of serving as Pope until death was started by Peter and
has been carried on for centuries. Since Peter, there have been 264 Popes and very
few have not stayed in power until their death. Most recently, and most commonly
known, is Pope Benedict XVI. As the successor of John Paul II, Benedict chose to...

He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Munich. This marked the
end of his time as a Nazi solider. When asked about his time as a Nazi Solider in an
interview, he answered by saying, The holocaust was a dark time in my life; one
that continues to haunt me. On June 29, 1951, Joseph Ratzinger was ordained a
priest. During his time as a priest, Ratzinger spent most of his time teaching. He
taught dogma and fundamental theology at Freising College, and was later given a
chair position in the subject of Dogmatic Theology at the University of Tubingen.
Joseph moved through the hierarchy rather quickly. Just eight years after being
ordained, he was named the chief theological expert to Cardinal Joseph Frings
during the second Vatican Council, held on January 25, 1959. 1977 was a huge
year for Joseph Ratzinger. In March, he was named archbishop of Munich and
Freising, and in June, he was officially confirmed a cardinal by Pope Paul VI.
Ratzinger was part of the College of Cardinals. This is a group of Cardinals that
assist the Pope in making decisions about the Church. In 1998, he was elected as
vice dean of the college, and by 2002, he was elected the dean. Ratzinger s ability
to move up the hierarchy quickly made him the prime choice when it came time to
pick a new pope in 2005. After the death of John Paul II, the Catholic Church needed
to elect a new Pope. On April 19, 2005,
Creation Theology Paper
Creation happened at the beginning of time. In cultures all around the world, there
can be found explanations of how people came to be and how the world they live
in was formed. Creation theology is a bit different. It explains how Christians
believe the God of the Bible formed the world and how that impacts them today. A
belief that most Christians hold that can be traced back to the Apostle s Creed is that
Godthe Father is maker of heaven and earth . This can be translated in different
ways however, and this paper will try and explain some of the different ways that
the Biblical account of Creation can be understood. Creation can also be linked to
other beliefs of the church, especially to Christ himself. The Biblical Creation of
the world will be recognized in this paper by being capitalized, creation will
reference the beginning of the world and nature will be used to describe what has
been created like the plants, animals, and humans. In this paper, I will explain the
different parts of Creation theologyand connect Creation to other parts of Christology.
Creation Theology The story of how the world was created has been told in
different ways since the beginning of time. Nature clearly points out to humans that
there is a God (Williams, 2007). This can be called natural theology which uses
nature to prove that there is a God (McGrath, 2008). The world is very complex with
many different parts of it interwoven and dependent on each other. It is very difficult

Chemical Mixture, Using Filtration And Evaporation
Introduction
The objective of this lab will be to proficiently separate a mixture, using filtration and
evaporation. In this lab, a homogeneous mixture will be created, along with a
heterogeneous mixture. The two mixtures will be mixed together, yet separated.
Common substances will be mixed and then separated using two of the techniques
already listed; filtration and evaporation.
Theory
If the salt, sand, and water mixture is separated successfully through filtration and
evaporation, then the percent recovery of the salt and sand will be 100%.
Salt, sand, and water are each substances that are made up of 2 or more elements
chemically combined, or compounds. When mixing compounds, it can be either a
homogeneous mixture or a heterogeneous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will let the filtrate through but leave the sand behind. The filtrate is the liquid
that passes through the funnel during filtration. In this experiment, the saltwater
solution is the filtrate. The solution remaining in the beaker will then be heated
over a Bunsen burner. As the solution is being heated, the water in the saltwater
solution will evaporate off until only the salt is remaining in the beaker.
Evaporation is a process where a soluble solid is separated from a liquid. The lab
ends with the sand on the filter paper, and the salt remaining in the beaker.
In order to successfully reach the objective of the lab, the amount of each substance
that is being separated must stay consistent from start to finish. The amount of each
substance before it is added to the mixture and after it has been separated needs to
be recorded so that comparison and analysis will be correct. All of the data will be
used to calculate the percent recovery of the sand and the salt. To find percent
recovery, the following equation used will be:
% Recovery = Amount of the substance recovered Original amount of the substance x
100
The answer will then show if separating the mixture was successful, and in turn
completing the lab and objective.

Cakeout Dagoie Saloon Analysis
The piece Stakeout by The Tango Saloon effectively uses instrumentation, harmony
and rhythm to convey character in the song.
The prominent use of organ in the piece contributes to the songs tense, foreboding
character. The dissonance created by the organ and the use of a rotary speaker creates
a thick, unnatural and disturbing timbre. The character of the song is also conveyed
using auxiliary percussion. The ostinato arpeggio played on the xylophone in the
chorus, along with the tubular bell strikes, shakers and heavy toms convey this
character.
The use of harmony in the piece is one of the main elements that creates character in
the piece. The song focuses heavily on the harmony associated with the ii chord in the
song s key of C minor;

The Black Market Exploiting The Donor
Proposing a Solution to the Black Market Exploiting the Donor:
Legalizing the Sale of Human Organs, In Hopes of Putting the Black Market Out
of Business Right now in the U.S. even with all the advanced technology, there are
more than 120,000 people currently on the UNOS organ transplant waiting list.
With the wait being so long for an organ, people have become desperate in order to
save their life. With this number being so large, it is hard to believe that there is a
new name added to the list every twelve minutes. By names being added daily and
not enough organs to go around, the death toll is an average of 21 people daily
because their number never came up for their life saving organ (Small Jordan, 2016).
Among these 120,000 people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brokers of the black markets tend to prey on low economic areas because these
people are uneducated and are desperate for money. The brokers knowing the
situation tend to exploit the donor in every transaction that is made. In order for
the black market not to be able to exploit the donor, organs sales should be
legalized because then the donor could receive better medical attention, guarantee
the donor is compensated fairly, and help shorten the currently long waiting list.
The way the black market works is that the broker goes to very low economic areas
and preys on the people who are desperate for money. Many of these people who
live in areas such as these are not very educated when it comes to what all is
involved. Like any surgery, during an organ transplant surgery, there are always risks.
Since the black market is an illegal operation, the donor is not made aware of these
risks and there are many times when the donor is forgotten once the surgery has been
completed. While these donors are being forgotten there are times when the donor
needs further medical treatment after surgery (Shafer Cunningham, 2011). The
brokers through the black market don t concern themselves if further medical
attention is needed because they have already gotten what they wanted and the donor
is no longer needed by them. Different doctors around the world have been voicing
The Fiction Genre Of Gothic Fiction
The Literary fiction genre of Gothic, including Crime and Horror, usually features a
figure of Otherness as either the protagonists of antagonists of the story. The noun
Otherness is used in this context to describe a being that is different from the norm.
This could be a creature that is not human at all or an individual as representation of a
minority group in the human society, in either race, class, sexuality or gender. These
figure often have the function of discussing issues, such as homosexuality or gender
inequality. Gothic fictionof the nineteenth century specifically used the body of the

The most famous vampire however, is Bram Stoker s Dracula , antagonist of the
eponymous novel that was first published in the year 1897. Since its popularity in
Victorian Gothic literature, the versatile creature has never lost its position as one
of the most used monsters in fiction, not only restricted to the genre of Horror. The
vampire is able to adapt to every generation without any difficulties and thereby
avoids being exposed in its Otherness. In Victorian times as well as contemporary
times, the vampire is used to raise attention to social anxieties and fears about
differences in mankind. In the early nineteenth century, one of the biggest threats to
humanity were contagious illnesses, such as tuberculosis and syphilis. After the
fast increasing of cities during the Industrialisation, illnesses spread more quickly
and every member of society could be infected. Being turned into a vampire was
often used as an image of the outbreak of a lethal illness. One the most apparent
similarities between a lethal disease and the transformation to a vampire is the
infectiousness through blood or other bodily fluids. The way Dracula s victims are
infected is through exchange of blood, which is how sexual transmitted diseases,
like syphilis or nowadays the similarly as lethal AIDS, are carried. Bruce Hale offers
a description of the development of cholera in Victorian times: thirst and dehydration;
sever pain in the limbs, stomach, and abdominal muscles; a change skin hue to a
Richard II By Richard IIi
Richard II s subjects become increasingly aware of his corrupt ruling, yet they do
nothing to overthrow Richard II because they strongly believe in his divine right
to rule. John of Gaunt, Richard II s uncle, along with the rest of his subjects, allow
Richard II to get away with murder and other questionable acts because he is their
king anointed by God. Gaunt reveals he knows that Richard II played a part in
killing John s brother to remain king: God s is the quarrel; for God s substitute, His
deputy anointed in His sight, Hath caused his death: the which if wrongfully, Let

The Duchess of Glouster advices Gaunt to seek revenge upon Richard II, but Gaunt
refuses to take action and says that the need to leave the punishment up to God: put
we our quarrel to the will of heaven (Richard II I.ii.6). Gaunt is not fearful of what
King Richard II could do to him, but of what God might do to him because he
believes Richard II to have been given his position by the grace of God, therefore
Gaunt must stand back and let God eventually handle Richard II s punishment. At the
beginning of the play, John of Gaunt was an advocate for anything that Richard II
did; however, towards the end of the play a transition has occurred and Gaunt starts
to view Richard II in a different manner. Bolingbroke has returned and laid his stake
on the English crown, causing Gaunt and some of the other

Comparing American Constitution With The Roman
Constitution
In order to compare the American Constitution with the supposed Roman
Constitution, context is vital as to how a constitution is defined. Thus as demarcated
by the historian Benjamin Straumann, :
I propose the following criteria for a working concept of constitutionality in the late
Republic: a) entrenchment, i.e., rules that are considered more entrenched... b)
political importance, i.e., rules that are of great importance in that they govern the
institutions through which political power is exercised; c) normative importance, i.e.
rules that betray the political system s and its protagonists underlying political theory;
and d) that the rules in question are assigned a juridical quality, that is to say, they are
part of recognizably legal arguments (Straumann pg. 18). ... Show more content on

This is opposed to Straumann s definition of a modern constitution: Here it would
seem that features of modern day constitutions such as writtenness, judicial review,
and the guarantee of certain individual rights serve as the defining, if implicit,
features of a real constitutional order (Straumann pg. 33). Since the Roman
Constitution had continually grown out of precedents, it was more like the British
common law system than the statutory law system of the United States, even though
the American Constitution s evolution throughout the years has seen a number of
amendments. What defines a constitution for the United States as opposed to Rome
seems to lie in the fact that one is written and codified, where as the other is an
amalgamation of laws unofficially put together (Straumann pg.17). Nonetheless, the
Roman constitution has indubitably shaped American politics; features shared by
both the Roman and American Constitution include: checks and balances, the
Black Sexual Politics By Patricia Hill Collins Essay
Some see gender as being Black and White and it is, literally. With numerous gender
ideologies, not only is there division between the Black (African Americans) and the
White (fair skinned Europeans), but between men and women as well. Generally,
white men and white men only hold most of the power in the world that there is to
possess and it has consciously been set up for them to do so. The technical name for
this global concept is hegemonic masculinity. This highly sexist and blatantly racist
model has been implemented by bigoted western agendas to then be culturally and
systematically carried out for centuries; sometimes without question. In her novel
Black Sexual Politics , Patricia Hill Collins masterfully highlights just how much
hegemonic masculinity altered the once blissful power structure, not just in the
western world but specifically within the homes of the Black community. She also
confers the several quintessential benchmarks within hegemonic masculinity that the
Black man must uphold in order for him to unambiguously maintain his dominant
status. If the benchmarks of hegemonic masculinity highlight everything it takes for
a Black man to be a man, The Moynihan Report, 1965 exposes the Black man for
everything he lacks. The benchmarks for hegemonic masculinity that Patricia Hill
Collins discuses are eerily connected to the covertly racist allegations of the report.

Unfair Dismissal Of The United Kingdom
In acquiescent to the definition that George has given to dismissal. I would like to
integrate on the following. Unfair dismissal in the United Kingdom is a component
of UK labour law that insists on fair and just and plausible treatment by employers in
cases where an employee s job could be terminated. The Employment Rights Act 1996
regulates this by highlighting that employees are entitled to a fair reason afore being
dismissed predicated on their capability to do the job, their conduct, whether their
position is economically redundant, on grounds of a statute, or some other substantial
reason. It is therefore automatically inequitable for an employer to dismiss an
employee regardless of length of service, for a reason cognate to... Show more content

The test is defined in section 98(4) of the Employment Rights Act 1996 as Charlotte
and George have already highlighted.
Above all the employer is expected to act reasonably in dismissing the employee.
This principle derived originally from the case British Home Stores v Burchell
[1980] ICR 303 which concluded that an employer should base a decision to dismiss
on a genuine belief, based on reasonable grounds and following a reasonable
investigation that there where grounds to justify dismissal. This is what is known as
the range of reasonable response test. (Chris Turner, Unlocking Employment law, 1st
edn, Routledge, 2013) 571).This test has been subject to criticism and the reasons are
highlighted below.
To begin with Tor Brodtkorb highlighting that, one of the end of unfair dismissal
law at the time of its enactment was to ascent the criterion followed by employers
in dismissing to offer employees greater security measures in their employment (The
Report of the Royal Commission on Trade unions and Employer s Associations,
1968). Because of the RORR test, the law on unfair dismissal has done very little to
growth job security for employees and to protect them from the whims of
management. The exam requires the tribunal to imagine a range of reasonable

The Impact of Computer Science on Health Care Medicine
The Impact of Computer Science on Health Care amp; Medicine
Abstract Computer science can be defined as the systematic study of algorithmic
processes, their theory, design, analysis, implementation and application. Its functions
in the modern society today expand far beyond the uses one could even begin to
imagine. Specifically, there is an increased influence in its practical application in the
field of medicine. In recent times, an interdependent relationship between medicine
and technology itself has been developed that did not exist before. Modern healthcare
relies heavily on the application of computer technology in furthering its
advancement of bioinformatics, biotechnology, artificial organ technology, robotic...

How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Enzyme s
Activity
In this graph we can see, when the temperature is high, the rate of the reaction also
increases, but when temperature is too high it denatures the enzyme. In this case
enzyme s activity is changing with increasing the temperature and by this the reacting
molecules have more kinetic energy and they move faster and they have a better
chance to collide. There is a specific temperatureat which enzymes activity is the
best, and this is known as (Optimum) and this temperature is 37 C (Human body
temperature). After this point the temperature continue increasing, the rate of the
reaction decrease and the enzyme denature (when the enzyme loses its original
shape), this is the cause that enzyme stop working as it cannot bind to the substrate.

Arkansas Essay
Arkansas has one of the most rich historical backgrounds that still has not been fully
discovered. There have been huge impacts made in Arkansas since 1819, when
Arkansas became part of the Union. One of the major impacts that was made in
Arkansas was the institution of slavery. When slavery was introduced to Arkansas, it
caused major growth to the population, economy, politics and the culture of the state.
For these reasons, the history of Arkansas needs more attention so there will be a full
understanding of slavery. There are still questions that need more in depth answers
about slavery in Arkansas. How did the population of slavery in Arkansas grow?
What caused Arkansas to inquire such an institution? What type of lifestyle did the

Both authors truly capture how important local history in their research. Just as in
this research, the importance of local history will be brought up by the discussion
of how the Red River affected slavery in Hempstead County. How did the Red River
affect the population growth Hempstead County? What effect did the Red River have
on slave life? What adaptations did the slaves and slaveholders had to have to endure
the Red River? These questions will answer how the Red River changed Southwest
Arkansas economically, politically, and culturally.
In Robin Cole Jett s book, The Red River Valley in Arkansas: Gateway to the
Southwest, he describes the river as a 1,360 mile treacherous and can be wild and
unpredictable , but it is the geography through which it travels that makes the Red
River of the South such an interesting study for human interactions. After 1803 when
the French sold the Louisiana territory for $15 million dollars for 800,000 square

Perception. The ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through one of the
five senses (Kandel, Schwartz, Jessell, 2000). In other words, it is the process of
interpreting and organizing sensory information. Perception must be understood
according to figure ground, similarity, proximity, continuity, and other organizing
principles. At work in the interpretation of sensory stimuli are other perceptual
phenomena such as perceptual constancy, a phenomenon which occurs in the
perception of size, shape, color, and brightness; depth perception, another
phenomenon based on binocular and monocular cues; and the perception of motion
(Wood, 2008). One of the brain s primary functions is to obtain biologically important
information from the various sensory inputs. The brain of a human is provided with
sufficient information about a variety of things such as light, sound, the atmosphere s
chemical composition, temperature, and things such as head orientation, limb
position, the chemical composition of the bloodstream, among other things.
Specialized sensors project signals into the brain when they detect sensory modalities.
Light sensitive neurons in the retina of the eye, vibration sensitive neurons in the
cochlea of the ear, along with the pressure sensitive neurons in the skin are all
specialized receptor cells of which each sensory system begins with. The axons of the

If there is one thing this entire government and country can agree on is that we are
fortunate to live freely in a country like Canada. As a nation, we must stand together
to protect our country, as well as the democracy we have created over the years,
allowing it to flourish into a fully developed society. Britain has made incredible and
unimaginable sacrifices to help Canada build into the country it is today. That
commitment that they gave to Canada provided us with an obligation to contribute
assistance to them when they need it. We cannot be seen neglecting our
responsibilities. A loss for Britain is a loss for us as well. Therefore, when Britain
rings the bell, we must answer.
Masculinity And Femininity
Although complementary, the stories told about masculinity and femininity have
very different impacts on those that feel pressured to conform to them, or are
subject to experience their effects by others who do. A particularly insidious source
of these stories comes from advertisements, as noted by Jean Kilbourne in Killing
Us Softly 4 (2010). She quotes a statement by the editor in chief of an advertising
magazine that only 8% of an ad s message is received by the conscious mind. The
rest is worked and reworked deep within the recesses of the brain . The internalization
of the messages from these advertisements unwittingly teaches men and women what
is expected of them, and what is desirable. For women, it is taught that femininity
requires flawless beauty, with unnaturally smooth skin (preferably light toned), shiny
hair, dimple free curves cinched by a tiny waist, and a graceful demeanor. It is taught
that women must pursue this image, whether it be through the purchase of cosmetics
or surgical procedures, or diet products and exercise programs. These advertisements
often depict women as having elegance and sensuality in their passiveness lounging
around as they enjoy beauty products or indulgent foods, or draped upon powerful
men. They must act as though they enjoy being objectified; welcoming men s
advances, even in violent or dangerous situations. In contrast, men in advertisements
are encouraged to model masculinitythrough violence, dismissal of emotions in
Ernest Hemingway s A Clean, Well-Lighted Place
After a countless amount of readings of Ernest Hemingway s short story A Clean,
Well Lighted Place I have often contemplated what it all means. I ve previously been
told by my undergraduate professor that the story has no intrinsic meaning or value. I
refuse to believe that is true. All stories can have multiple meanings that are buried
deep beneath the text. It just requires an extensive analyzation of the short story. Why
would the story be written if it had no meaning? In this paper, I will search for
meaning in the text that is primarily described as an exploration of existential nihilism
. In order to analyze the story, I will deconstruct the meaning. The short story is filled
with holes. Not only is there meaning within the text, but... Show more content on

Instead, you enter a world of ambiguous conversations surrounding suicide and
nihilism. The short story introduces an ideology of agnosticism and atheism that
challenges the ever powerful, and meaningful, religious ideologies. In this case,
the agonistic worldview is oppressed compared to an ideal religious ideology.
Another idealistic feature within the text is being youthful. The younger waiter in
the story is privileged because he has many years ahead of him, a wife, and he
believes he has a more meaningful life. The oppressed and unappealing people in
the text would be the old deaf man and the old waiter that are in the story. With the
younger waiter being privileged in the story, it is essential to challenge and reverse
the powerful hierarchies that romanticize being youthful and having meaning in
ones life. When the younger waiter refuses to let the old man stay and drink in the
cafe he assumes that the old man can go drink elsewhere. He doesn t realize that he
needs the cafe, because it is nicely lit and it is quiet. Not only is the waiter closing
the cafe earlier than usual, but he mentions that an hour means more to him than it
would to the old man. The text states, Why didn t you let him stay and drink? the
unhurried waiter asked. They were putting up the shutters. It is not half past two. I
want to go home to bed. What is an hour? More to me than to him. An hour is the
same (381). At this point in the story, the older waiter is telling the young man that
he was wrong for sending the old man away. When the younger waiter to state that
his time is more valuable than the old man, this shows how the older people in the
text are being oppressed. According to Rolfe, To reverse the resident hierarchy, only
to displace it, that is, to expose and challenge binary opposites in the text, to expose

A Research Questions On The Beauty Industry
1. INTRODUCTION
This section contains Background , Research Questions and Objectives , and Scope
of the Project .
1.1 BACKGROUND
The beauty industry has been marked as the most prominent industry in Thailand for
the last five years, with skin care as the most valuable sector (Sanoachitt, 2015;
Euromonitor International, 2016). In 2015, the skin care sector expanded by 9% in
term of value to reach Bt65.6 billion or ВЈ1.45 billion (MarketLine, 2016). The main
contributor to the growth was an increase in the attention of Thai people towards
their appearance and wellness. The users of skin care products are no longer limited
to senior women but are now popular among all age and gender (Pratruangkrai,
2015). The market observers expect the sector to grow continually and value Bt76.7
billion or ВЈ1.55 billion by 2020, despite the negative outlook of the national income
(Euromonitor International, 2016; Chinosuntrakorn, 2009).
The main driving forces of the skin care market are the opening of the ASEAN
Economic Community (AEC) and an increase of pollution and stress one encounters
in daily life. The AEC is the economic integration of ten South east Asian countries,
including Thailand. Trade duties are reduced among the nation members to promote
the free flow of goods and services. As a benefit of the AEC, foreign companies are
interested in investing and using Thailand as a gate to other ASEAN markets, owe to

Harvey Weinstein s Influence On Women In Hollywood
Sexual harassment is something of a hot topic today. The conversation has been
ongoing for some time, but it seems to have been launched into the stratosphere of
public consciousness by a string of high profile accusations. The most infamous were
accusations levelled against movie and television producer Harvey Weinstein.
Weinstein was accused of harassment and more, allegedly preying upon young up and
coming actresses in Hollywood. Weinstein s influence and reach in Hollywood is
extensive, which meant he could either be friend or foe for young actresses breaking
into the entertainment industry. He used this position to commit crimes against
many women, allegedly including Uma Thurman and Angelina Jolie.
Many of the men who worked with Weinstein suggested they too were guilty, to an
extent, because they had seen this behaviour and not ... Show more content on

The New York Police Department investigated Weinstein in connection to sexual
crimes and suggested it had evidence enough to charge and convict him.
The seriousness with which these accusations were treated gave more people who
had been abused by powerful men the courage to come forward. Dubbed the
Weinstein Effect, a rolling wave of accusations broke over the entertainment world.
No Stone Left Unturned
The accusations didn t occur only in the entertainment world, however. Virtually no
industry has been left untouched by the Weinstein Effect. In sports, the recent
sentencing of USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar is part of the ripple effect of the
Weinstein Effect.
Politics too has been rocked by accusations. Here in Canada, Ontario PC Party
leader Patrick Brown had to resign in the midst of accusations. At the federal level,
Kent Hehr was forced to resign his cabinet post. Prime Minister Trudeau has said
sexual harassment is a systemic problem that must be addressed.

Daisy Miller And The Story Of An Hour Patriarchy
In Daisy Miller by Henry James and The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, both
authors examine the influences of patriarchy on women. However, the differing
lengths and styles affect the meaning and the impression that the stories leave on
the reader. In Daisy Miller: A Study , Winterbourne constantly judges an American
girl, Daisy, on her lack of concern for the rules of society. The story is written over
an extensive amount of time as Winterbourne forms his views of her, which allows
the audience to steadily shape their own opinions of Daisy. However, readers were
not able to view the thoughts of Daisy, while in the The Story of an Hour, the feelings
and reflections of the womanare divulged. In The Story of an Hour , an ill woman is...

This effects community funds as well, which means less money for schools which
is a big problem within Philadelphia. People do have a big effect on the problem
within the city because they are so careless and do not think of the effects that their
actions have on the environment. The 1900s led to the start of dealing with the
contaminated drinking water throughout the city. The first step was constructing five
filtration plants and using chlorine to treat the water. The Sewage system treatment
plants in Philadelphia were constructed in 1950 to 1966 this consisted of the three

technologies and methods that we develop to treat and manage our water systems.
Today we have for the most part dealt with the problem of contaminated water, but
we still face some problems with bacteria. This especially affects the vulnerable
part of our population like pregnant women and children and make them sick. This
is a problem that runs city wide and if it does not get the attention that it needs we
could see some very dire effects. Philadelphia over the years has improved its

What Was The Purpose Of The Asch Experiment
In chapter 5 of the textbook we learn about various groups and what they represent.
A social group is two or more people who identify with and interact with one
another (Macionis 108). We also learned about several different experiments and
the understanding of each. Social groups are very important. In the text book we
learn about two different experiments. The Asch experiment includes a group of
students asking to compare two cards and to choose something on the card that
matches the second card. Many people in the experiment matched it correctly. Also
there were people that would constantly match the wrong ones on purpose. The
purpose of the experiment was to recognize if any of the participants of the
experiment felt awkward during it. First of all they felt pressured to answer
correctly. Often when you are in a group of people you don t know you want to be as

increase in knowledge by the Learner. For example, did the learner try to answer

Noah Compare And Contrast Essay
In this essay I will compare and contrast the movie Noah and the bible references of
Noah in Genesis 5 10. Sometimes when you read a book and then watch a movie
about it, it s completely different. But in the movie Noah and in the bible it
basically follows his life the same, there aren t really any differences. In the movie it
describes about his life and his three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And in the bible
it describes about his life and three sons.
Most importantly, in the movie Noah as young boy he witnesses his father Lamech
get killed by Tubal Cain. And years later as a young man Noah is living with his
wife Naameh, and three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. After witnessing a flower
grow from the concrete and being haunted by dreams of a flood, Noah takes time
to visit his grandfather Methuselah. After meeting some people that had recently
died they find one survivor, so Noah and his wife decided to adopt her a young girl

But in the bible it doesn t really go into detail about what happened with him before

how old Noah s grandfather Methuselah was when he died which he was 969 years
old when he died. And it also says that Noah was 500 years old when he produced his
three sons. In the bible in chapter 7 it explains how god told Noah that he would
cause it to rain for 40 days and 40 nights. It also says that Noah was 600 years old
when he followed gods command and the flood waters began and he took his wife
and sons and his sons wives and went into the ark. Because of the flood
Curd Lab
What is the effect of specific souring agent on the mass of curd? Purpose: The
purpose of this lab was to find what souring agents (lemon juice and vinegar) do to
the mass of curd. Background: Curds are dairy products that are formed through
coagulation (the action or process of liquid changing to a solid or semi solid state).
Coagulation is initiated by the addition of an acidic substance (such as vinegar of
lemon juice) to milk. Curdling, also known as milk souring/spoiling, can also happen
naturally. Milk contains protein molecules that typically repel each other, but in the
process of curdling, proteins in the milk clump together (Moncel), As the pH of the

After 16 mL of lemon juice was added, the curd mass increased by about 42 g,
whereas the mass of the curd after 16 mL of vinegar was added increased by about
34 g. The lines on both graphs look similar, indicating that the rate of increase of
curd mass was consistent for both vinegar and lemon juice. Conclusion: From the
data gathered from the experiment it shows that the souring agent that was more
acidic clearly created more mass. The souring agent predicted to generate the most
amount of mass was lemon juice, the reason behind that was the pH and pKa of
lemon juice is more acidic than vinegar. From what was tested it is shown that
depending on the souring agent it will affect the mass of curd. After 6 total trials
from each souring agent, lemon juice and vinegar, lemon juice was the dominant
agent. Lemon juice produced a substantial difference between the agents at a
consistent rate. At first Vinegar was showing promise, seeming like the more acidic
and powerful agent, yet lemon juice increased at a higher rate. For 3 out of the 4
test of different amounts lemon juice approximately had a greater mass by 5 6
grams. For example, at 16ml, trial 2, lemon juice had the mass of 41.9, while vinegar
had 36.3. In conclusion, lemon juice was the standout souring agent, producing more
curd than vinegar, and shown by data to be more

Nick on the other hand exhibits the latter half of the Hemingway heros code
pertaining to the nada principle. In the story nick and the other people inside the

Not accepting of that idea, the meek nick takes it upon himself to inform the old

become of him and he accepts it and dismisses nick. Afterwards nick understands
that the world is not what he perceived it to be. He realizes that the world is not a
just and fair place but a brutal and vicious one that will constantly fight you. His
realization of this completes his journey as the Hemingway hero beginning with his
persistence and courage in the face of danger then his acceptance that there is no
significance in the actions you do in life because fate is an unchanging beast that
will follow you till the end. In yeos study he concludes that in the end a hemingway

A Study Of Life Span Development
Have you ever asked yourself, who am I? What makes me the individual that I am
today? Well, you are not alone. Many individuals have been trying to figure out why
they have certain characteristics or why they did not have those leadership or
charismatic traits that they wish they could have. All these questions can be
explored through the study of life span development. Within this science, we can
explore the factors that influence who you are with identity development, gender,
stereotypes, ethnicity and culture. Identity is what makes the individual. The
uniqueness, such as specific traits ranging from religious to intelligence. Despite
having the same parents, even siblings have different identity. One sibling might
posses more intellectual, and athletic traits than the other, while the other one is
complete opposite. But having this unique set of traits is what makes us as an
individuals. It s what distinguishes between you and the world. If everyone would
have had the same identity then we would not have evolved. We would have not
discovered all these scientific achievements throughout history. There wouldn t be
all stars or hall of fame sports athletes in history. Having different qualities as an
individual is what sets you apart and makes up the person you are today. Of
course, you might ask yourself, why do I hold these specific set of traits or why do
I act this way? These questions have even been asked as early during adolescent
years. During
Character Analysis Of Whistling Vivaldi
The focal subject of Whistling Vivaldi is character, and, moreover, the distinctive
ways individuals react to each other s personalities. Amid his times of research into
social brain science, Claude Steele has considered a wide range of types of
character, including, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, social introduction, class, and
age. One of the premises of his exploration is that individuals will definitely judge
each other on the premise of their personality. Moreover, Steele contends that each
one of a kind personality has a related generalization a sort of short hand for seeing
how individuals with that character will act. Stereotyping is, obviously, a typical type
of extremism. For instance, a math teacher who expect that a female understudywon t
be ready to comprehend the material is utilizing a sexist generalization that ladies
aren t great at math to judge the understudy s conduct. Steele indicates how
stereotyping, and the danger of being stereotyped, can apply an immense impact on
various individuals conduct.
Ostensibly Steele s most critical knowledge about stereotyping is that the
consciousness of generalizations (and especially the dread of being stereotyped) can
be more capable than an unequivocal instance of stereotyping. Quite a bit of Steele s
examination is revolved around the dread of being stereotyped or, put another route,
of satisfying a generalization, especially in a college setting. For instance, Steele and
his partners sorted out trials in which high contrast Stanford understudies were made
a request to take a troublesome test. Half of the understudies were informed that the
exam measured insight, while the other half were told the exam was an analytic test,
and not organized to gauge knowledge. Steele found that dark understudies who d
been informed that the exam measured knowledge did more awful than white
understudies who d gotten a similar data. In any case, dark understudies who d been
told the exam didn t quantify insight performed at an indistinguishable level from
their white partners. Steele translates his investigations to recommend that dark
understudies dread of affirming a contemptible generalization in particular, that dark
individuals are less wise than white

Cognition deals with the development of thought. It is mncerned with how children
and adults understand the world around them.
Caregivers must channelize the child s initiative towards constructive ends, which
will help her to develop self confidence.
The caregivers have to teach the child self control and limits of her behaviour but
they have to do so without curbing her initiative. If something must not be done, they
must explain to the child why it is so, instead of simply restricting her actions.
It would be more useful if caregivers inculcate desirable social values, without being
overly concerned about whether the values are conventionally masculine or feminine.
Affection oriented techniques, which rely on reasoning with the child to foster the
desired behaviour and appeal to the child s sense of responsibility, have a beneficial
impact, while power oriented techniques, which rely on threatening the child or
withholding privileges without explanation, can be harmful.
The affection oriented way of disciplining is more effective in
Essay On Online Newspaper
The fully customized online newspaper allows the reader to have access to audio
/video content automatically on their mobile device (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). The
reader would have audio/video access to content such as Health and Wellness,
Foods, Travel, Brands, Organizations to name a few (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). As
well as live local and national news, sports, and weather (Ferrell Hartline, 2014).
Imagine clicking on one link and being able to search for travel destination spot for
a winter getaway (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). Another option may be to click on a story
about the Superbowl that takes the reader directly to their favorite NFL team s
website (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). The ideas or content marketingprovides much value

There are two possible ways for the online newspaper to make money (Ferrell
Hartline, 2014). The first being USA Todaycan charge a fee for their App (Ferrell
Hartline, 2014). Second, advertising, like USA Today did in the past by offering
six months of free advertising with a paid six months of advertising (Ferrell
Hartline, 2014). USA Today could offer content topic providers front page one inch
blocks for one day a week advertising (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). Distribution and
promotion are the third and fourth steps, how to market the online newspaper to
readers of all ethnicities, and genders (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). What better way to
promote an online newspaper to varies readers than to use social media as an outlet
(Ferrell Hartline, 2014). The website HootSuite can help USA Today manage their
social media accounts like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter (Hendrick, 2016).
HootSuite can provide insight into which post resonate with target populations
(Hendrick, 2016).
Branding is very important, USA Today online newspaper logo needs to stay the
same all their printed newspaper logo (Ferrell Hartline, 2014). A blue filled in
circle with the same font USA TODAY printed in caps to the right of the blue circle
(Ferrell Hartline, 2014). The online newspaper is USA Today s social and ethical
responsibility to build long term relationships with readers and advertisers (Ferrell
Hartline, 2014).
Haramb Pros And Cons
You are sitting at home. You are relaxed. You see something new. You pick it up.
You are shot. Dead. This was the case for the Gorilla, Harambe. Harambe a
seventeen year old silverback gorilla, was shot dead by Cincinnati Zoo keepers and
workers out of fear that he would hurt Isaiah, the little boy that fell into his cage. You
would not allow this to happen to your relative, a friend, any human. Right? This is
not uncommon as sixteen animals have been shot, while being in captivity, in the last
nine years due to human stupidity. There could have been other outcomes to this
horrific story if other methods were used to sustain Harambe.
There are so many other methods that could have been used to sustain a massive
animal. A tranquiliser, high... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People are saying that the parents should be held responsible for not looking after
their child during the incident. More than seventy thousand petitioners have signed
up to campaign for the parents to be investigated after their child fell up to 12feet
into the enclosure. They want the parents to be held accountable for the lack of
supervision and negligence that caused Harambe to lose his life. The boy s mother,
Michelle, has been faced with criticism online. Animal right campaigners claim that
she should have been keeping a closer eye on her child. The mother then claimed
that she tried to prevent it. She said that she tried to grab him but she just was not
quick enough. The mother argued that the people that know her know that she
always has a tight grip on her child and that the public were too quick to judge her.
The parents spoke out after the incident and explained that they were thankful for
the right people being there at the right time on the day of the incident, but if they
were watching their children properly then this whole situation could have been
avoided. The boy only came out with a few bumps and scrapes because Harambe
was not aggressive towards him. Police Officers and Prosecutors in the State of Ohio
are still deciding whether indict the parents of the little
Feminist View On Women And Marriage In Othello
Feminists believe that marriage is a source of conflict, in the play it suggests that
marriageability is most women s only road to power, the goal was to secure family,
wealth, and protection from a male. And to fulfil this, women needed to be
continuously sexually attractive yet pure and modest. Once married, it was self
evident that wives should follow their husbands and be humoured by them in return.
After a wife had provided an heir, she was truly secure. This can be reflected in Iagos
cynical comment She never yet was foolish that was fair, for even her folly helped
her to an heir (Othello: Act 2. Sc. 1. 7). In modern day terms, he is saying that no
pretty woman can be considered stupid since they are all clever enough to use their
looks to ensnare a husband and this achieves respectability. Feminists argument to
women and marriagein the play would be that currently there are many women who
would more likely choose their career instead of chasing someone to be their
husband. Women don t need to do anything for men to feel secure. Secondly, it very
much objectifies women as being possessions to patriarchal heirs. Marxists would
believe that this form of thinking is just all down to the bourgeoisie and how
marriage is an institute that allows everyone in society to have a set order and in
feminist s eyes, they view society undermining female equality.
Some modern feminist critics see Desdemona as a repugnant embodiment of the
oppressed. Desdemona herself asserts that

Conforming to the Ways of the World
These days, the brand of clothes we wear and the corporate logos that are on clothes,
can tell a person the type of people we want to be associated with and where we stand
on the social ladder. Children, teenagers, and adults allow themselves to help
advertise for fashion designers by wearing corporate logos because wearing these
logos gives them a sense of belonging to a certain group of people, social status, or a
so called in crowd. Corporate logos are the fashion trend for the present, but just like
every popular fashion trend in the past, the corporate logo trend will soon no longer
exist.
Fashion is a topic that affects people of all ages. From elementary school ... Show

Teenagers are always competing against each other to be the most popular, and
competition is the easiest way for them to determine who supposedly is the coolest
person and the teens that belong in the hip group of people. Once again, teenagers
like the elementary age children, look at their favorite musician, athlete, and so on, so
they can be just like them and have all the aspects of the famous life. When teens
notice that their idols have stopped wearing corporate logos, teens will move on to
the newest trend also.
Most adults do not care as much as teenagers and children care about fashion. The
adults that do care about what they wear, however, feel that by wearing clothes that
popular and have corporate logos on them, will make them feel and look younger.
Like the children and teenagers, adults want a feeling of social acceptance.
Constantly, the adults are watching the teenagers so that the adults will be able to
keep up with the changing trends. Basically, the teenagers sense of fashion
determines when the adults wardrobes of clothes with corporate logos on them will
be disposed of.
No matter the age of the person, people will always have the desire to wear what is
in style. The designers who create the clothes with corporate logos are given power
when people buy designer clothes. All the designers have to do is produce the
clothing, and they know that people will buy and
Simvastatin
Simvastatin
Introduction
Simvastatin is used to lower the cholesterol level in the blood such as the low
density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglycerides and to raise the high density lipoprotein
(HDL), It decreases the risk of heart diseases and helps to prevent the heart attacks
and strokes by reducing the amount of cholesterol that is made by the liver
(Raleys.com, 2015). Chemical structure and functional groups
Simvastatin is one of the statins derivatives that is synthesised from a fermentation
product of Aspergillus terreus. The simvastatin is an inactive lactone which is
hydrolysed to the ОІ hydroxyacid form when it is taken orally. ОІ hydroxyacid form
is an inhibitor of 3 hydroxy 3 methylglutaryl coenzyme A(HMG CoA) reductase. This

The mode of action
Statins are competitive inhibitors HMG CoA reductase, it has been considered as a
first line for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. Their mode of action is by
mimicking the substrate molecule HMG CoA and competes for binding to the
HMGCR enzyme. It works by slowing the production rate of mevalonate which
responsible for the production of cholesterol molecule.
Most of the cholesterol synthesis in the body is done by internal mechanism through
the liver cells particularly at night during fasting; it is taken at night to inhibit the
cholesterol production. It maximizes its inhibitory effect and the data shows a
significant fall in the LDL and a fall in the total cholesterol level in the blood.
Simvastatin can have different pharmacological effects from other statins groups due
to different ring structures and chemical side groups such as different affinity toward
the receptors, different rates of connection to liver cells from non liver cells, different
bioavailability and biochemical metabolism and execration. All these factors affect its
half life which is short (Anon, 2015).
Statins are selective towards the hepatic cells because of their lipophilic properties. It
passes through the membrane towards the cell

(Niggaz With Attitude) emerged in Compton, California, they were a hip hop based group that was widely considered as one of the seminal acts of the gangster rap sub genre of hip hop. The group was active from 1986 to 1991 and endured controversy due to their explicit nature of their lyrics (6). The things they said in their music was of a shocker to society or mostly to their white listeners. These explicit lyrics were not supposed to be said out loud in public, let alone in music. During their time, they were banned from many mainstream U.S. radio stations, prevented from touring, and faced obstacles from the police (6). When Fuck tha Police released it developed a media storm, which resulted in a warning letter from the FBI to the group s distributor, Priority Records (1). This song was a protest targeted at the Los Angeles police. Protesting police brutality and racial profiling. The song itself expressed the approval of violence against police. The songs main vocals were Ice Cube, Eazy E, and MC Ren. With Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and The D.O.C. doing the intro. The rest of the group, except DJ Yella, incorporated 3 skits throughout the song with a cop being added to these skits. The hook in itself, explicitly repeats Fuck tha police!, as the song is titled. This song is a part of their album Straight Outta Compton. This song tells about the case of N.W.A. versus the police department and Ice Cube testifying first, which is the group rapping the testimony. With MC Ren testifying next about his experience. Telling about the white majority having power over the rest, using violence against the police, and not caring anymore. Then finally ending with Eazy E and his testimony. Which tells about him being exhausted of the treatment they receive and saying the police is
  • 3. Lady Macbeths Downfall In Shakespeare s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth devises a cunning plan to murder King Duncan in order for Macbeth ascend to the throne. Lady Macbeth says We fail!/ but screw your courage to the sticking place/ and we will not fail . Lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth that they cannot fail, but because Macbeth and Lady Macbethdeduce that power is more important than one s conscience, their scheme does not materialize as they speculated. The Macbeths fail in their quest for power because they underestimate nature, one s conscience, and man s fallibility. In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth says unsex me here when she is about to fulfill the plan. Lady Macbeth is asking the spirits to strip away everything that makes her a woman, in order for her to achieve her malicious end. Traditionally, femininity is synonymous with compassion, maternal instincts, and kindness whereas masculinity is synonymous with independence, tenacity, and assertiveness. It is in Lady Macbeth s nature to be motherly and gentle and she cannot change her nature in order to make herself feel better about the horrible actions she plans to commit. Lady Macbeth attempts to overrule her feminine nature, which is foolhardy and one of the causes of her dismay. • 4. We Need A New Criminal Justice System Do you know someone who has committed a crime? My friend John from high school was an average B student. He always came to class and always did his work. When it came to exam week he didn t show up. I was worried, so I called his mom and asked what happened. She told me that John was in jail for marijuana possession. He was only in jail for a week before his mom could bail him out. While in jail, he missed his final exams and failed all his classes forcing him to take summer school to graduate. Today, the United States has twenty five percent of the world prisoners. One in every thirty one adults of the population is under some form of correctional control. The United States has more people in prisonthan anywhere else in the world. What is really sad about the United States is having prisons for profit instead of healing for the accused and preventing them from committing another crime. We need a new criminal justicesystem that focuses more on how we convict people, provide appropriate sentencing, and rehabilitate through healing instead of punishment. With the new criminal justice system, convictions will be easier to figure out who is innocent versus the guilty. Better training for officers who arrive on the scene will teach them how to react, what to assess, and how to distinguish what is what. During interrogations the police officer and the accused citizen will both have a camera behind them so there will be video evidence on how the police ask the citizen

  • 6. Essay on The Road of Joseph Ratzinger t Pope Ementus Benedict The Pope is the Bishop of Rome and the leader of the Catholic Church. This is something that started right after the death of Jesus. When Jesus resurrected, he said to St. Peter, Feed my lambs.... Tend my sheep.... Feed my sheep. This command given to Peter made him the head of the apostles, henceforth, making him the first Pope. Peter would rule for approximately 34 years, and when he died he was succeeded by St. Linus. The tradition of serving as Pope until death was started by Peter and has been carried on for centuries. Since Peter, there have been 264 Popes and very few have not stayed in power until their death. Most recently, and most commonly known, is Pope Benedict XVI. As the successor of John Paul II, Benedict chose to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Munich. On June 29, 1951, Joseph Ratzinger was ordained a priest. During his time as a priest, Ratzinger spent most of his time teaching. He taught dogma and fundamental theology at Freising College, and was later given a chair position in the subject of Dogmatic Theology at the University of Tubingen. Joseph moved through the hierarchy rather quickly. Just eight years after being ordained, he was named the chief theological expert to Cardinal Joseph Frings during the second Vatican Council, held on January 25, 1959. 1977 was a huge year for Joseph Ratzinger. In March, he was named archbishop of Munich and Freising, and in June, he was officially confirmed a cardinal by Pope Paul VI. Ratzinger was part of the College of Cardinals. This is a group of Cardinals that assist the Pope in making decisions about the Church. In 1998, he was elected as vice dean of the college, and by 2002, he was elected the dean. Ratzinger s ability to move up the hierarchy quickly made him the prime choice when it came time to pick a new pope in 2005. After the death of John Paul II, the Catholic Church needed to elect a new Pope. On April 19, 2005,
  • 7. Creation Theology Paper Creation happened at the beginning of time. In cultures all around the world, there can be found explanations of how people came to be and how the world they live in was formed. Creation theology is a bit different. It explains how Christians believe the God of the Bible formed the world and how that impacts them today. A belief that most Christians hold that can be traced back to the Apostle s Creed is that Godthe Father is maker of heaven and earth . This can be translated in different ways however, and this paper will try and explain some of the different ways that the Biblical account of Creation can be understood. Creation can also be linked to other beliefs of the church, especially to Christ himself. The Biblical Creation of the world will be recognized in this paper by being capitalized, creation will reference the beginning of the world and nature will be used to describe what has been created like the plants, animals, and humans. In this paper, I will explain the different parts of Creation theologyand connect Creation to other parts of Christology. Creation Theology The story of how the world was created has been told in different ways since the beginning of time. Nature clearly points out to humans that there is a God (Williams, 2007). This can be called natural theology which uses nature to prove that there is a God (McGrath, 2008). The world is very complex with many different parts of it interwoven and dependent on each other. In this lab, a homogeneous mixture will be created, along with a heterogeneous mixture.The two mixtures will be mixed together, yet separated. Common substances will be mixed and then separated using two of the techniques already listed; filtration and evaporation. The filtrate is the liquid that passes through the funnel during filtration. In this experiment, the saltwater solution is the filtrate. The solution remaining in the beaker will then be heated over a Bunsen burner. As the solution is being heated, the water in the saltwater solution will evaporate off until only the salt is remaining in the beaker. Evaporation is a process where a soluble solid is separated from a liquid. The lab ends with the sand on the filter paper, and the salt remaining in the beaker. In order to successfully reach the objective of the lab, the amount of each substance that is being separated must stay consistent from start to finish. The amount of each substance before it is added to the mixture and after it has been separated needs to be recorded so that comparison and analysis will be correct. All of the data will be used to calculate the percent recovery of the sand and the salt. To find percent recovery, the following equation used will be: % Recovery = Amount of the substance recovered Original amount of the substance x 100 The answer will then show if separating the mixture was successful, and in turn completing the lab and objective. The prominent use of organ in the piece contributes to the songs tense, foreboding character. The dissonance created by the organ and the use of a rotary speaker creates a thick, unnatural and disturbing timbre. The character of the song is also conveyed using auxiliary percussion. The ostinato arpeggio played on the xylophone in the chorus, along with the tubular bell strikes, shakers and heavy toms convey this character. The use of harmony in the piece is one of the main elements that creates character in the piece. The song focuses heavily on the harmony associated with the ii chord in the song s key of C minor;

With the wait being so long for an organ, people have become desperate in order to save their life. With this number being so large, it is hard to believe that there is a new name added to the list every twelve minutes. The brokers of the black markets tend to prey on low economic areas because these people are uneducated and are desperate for money. The brokers knowing the situation tend to exploit the donor in every transaction that is made. In order for the black market not to be able to exploit the donor, organs sales should be legalized because then the donor could receive better medical attention, guarantee the donor is compensated fairly, and help shorten the currently long waiting list. The way the black market works is that the broker goes to very low economic areas and preys on the people who are desperate for money. Many of these people who live in areas such as these are not very educated when it comes to what all is involved. Like any surgery, during an organ transplant surgery, there are always risks. Since the black market is an illegal operation, the donor is not made aware of these risks and there are many times when the donor is forgotten once the surgery has been completed. While these donors are being forgotten there are times when the donor needs further medical treatment after surgery (Shafer Cunningham, 2011). The brokers through the black market don t concern themselves if further medical attention is needed because they have already gotten what they wanted and the donor is no longer needed by them. Different doctors around the world have been voicing

The Fiction Genre Of Gothic Fiction The Literary fiction genre of Gothic, including Crime and Horror, usually features a figure of Otherness as either the protagonists of antagonists of the story. Since its popularity in Victorian Gothic literature, the versatile creature has never lost its position as one of the most used monsters in fiction, not only restricted to the genre of Horror. The vampire is able to adapt to every generation without any difficulties and thereby avoids being exposed in its Otherness. In Victorian times as well as contemporary times, the vampire is used to raise attention to social anxieties and fears about differences in mankind. In the early nineteenth century, one of the biggest threats to humanity were contagious illnesses, such as tuberculosis and syphilis. After the fast increasing of cities during the Industrialisation, illnesses spread more quickly and every member of society could be infected. Being turned into a vampire was often used as an image of the outbreak of a lethal illness. One the most apparent similarities between a lethal disease and the transformation to a vampire is the infectiousness through blood or other bodily fluids. The way Dracula s victims are infected is through exchange of blood, which is how sexual transmitted diseases, like syphilis or nowadays the similarly as lethal AIDS, are carried. Bruce Hale offers a description of the development of cholera in Victorian times: thirst and dehydration; sever pain in the limbs, stomach, and abdominal muscles; a change skin hue to a

Comparing American Constitution With The Roman Constitution In order to compare the American Constitution with the supposed Roman Constitution, context is vital as to how a constitution is defined. Thus as demarcated by the historian Benjamin Straumann, : I propose the following criteria for a working concept of constitutionality in the late Republic: a) entrenchment, i.e., rules that are considered more entrenched... b) political importance, i.e., rules that are of great importance in that they govern the institutions through which political power is exercised; c) normative importance, i.e. rules that betray the political system s and its protagonists underlying political theory; and d) that the rules in question are assigned a juridical quality, that is to say, they are part of recognizably legal arguments (Straumann pg. 18). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is opposed to Straumann s definition of a modern constitution: Here it would seem that features of modern day constitutions such as writtenness, judicial review, and the guarantee of certain individual rights serve as the defining, if implicit, features of a real constitutional order (Straumann pg. 33). Since the Roman Constitution had continually grown out of precedents, it was more like the British common law system than the statutory law system of the United States, even though the American Constitution s evolution throughout the years has seen a number of amendments. What defines a constitution for the United States as opposed to Rome seems to lie in the fact that one is written and codified, where as the other is an amalgamation of laws unofficially put together (Straumann pg.17). Nonetheless, the Roman constitution has indubitably shaped American politics; features shared by both the Roman and American Constitution include: checks and balances, the
  • 19. Black Sexual Politics By Patricia Hill Collins Essay Some see gender as being Black and White and it is, literally. With numerous gender ideologies, not only is there division between the Black (African Americans) and the White (fair skinned Europeans), but between men and women as well. Generally, white men and white men only hold most of the power in the world that there is to possess and it has consciously been set up for them to do so. The technical name for this global concept is hegemonic masculinity. This highly sexist and blatantly racist model has been implemented by bigoted western agendas to then be culturally and systematically carried out for centuries; sometimes without question. In her novel Black Sexual Politics , Patricia Hill Collins masterfully highlights just how much hegemonic masculinity altered the once blissful power structure, not just in the western world but specifically within the homes of the Black community. She also confers the several quintessential benchmarks within hegemonic masculinity that the Black man must uphold in order for him to unambiguously maintain his dominant status. If the benchmarks of hegemonic masculinity highlight everything it takes for a Black man to be a man, The Moynihan Report, 1965 exposes the Black man for everything he lacks. The benchmarks for hegemonic masculinity that Patricia Hill Collins discuses are eerily connected to the covertly racist allegations of the report. The Negro Family: The Case for National Action , also known as The Moynihan Report,

Unfair dismissal in the United Kingdom is a component of UK labour law that insists on fair and just and plausible treatment by employers in cases where an employee s job could be terminated. The Employment Rights Act 1996 regulates this by highlighting that employees are entitled to a fair reason afore being dismissed predicated on their capability to do the job, their conduct, whether their position is economically redundant, on grounds of a statute, or some other substantial reason. It is therefore automatically inequitable for an employer to dismiss an employee regardless of length of service, for a reason cognate to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The test is defined in section 98(4) of the Employment Rights Act 1996 as Charlotte and George have already highlighted. Above all the employer is expected to act reasonably in dismissing the employee. This principle derived originally from the case British Home Stores v Burchell [1980] ICR 303 which concluded that an employer should base a decision to dismiss on a genuine belief, based on reasonable grounds and following a reasonable investigation that there where grounds to justify dismissal. This is what is known as the range of reasonable response test. (Chris Turner, Unlocking Employment law, 1st edn, Routledge, 2013) 571).This test has been subject to criticism and the reasons are highlighted below. To begin with Tor Brodtkorb highlighting that, one of the end of unfair dismissal law at the time of its enactment was to ascent the criterion followed by employers in dismissing to offer employees greater security measures in their employment (The Report of the Royal Commission on Trade unions and Employer s Associations, 1968). Because of the RORR test, the law on unfair dismissal has done very little to growth job security for employees and to protect them from the whims of management. The exam requires the tribunal to imagine a range of reasonable employer answer to wrongful

There is a specific temperatureat which enzymes activity is the best, and this is known as (Optimum) and this temperature is 37 C (Human body temperature). The ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through one of the five senses (Kandel, Schwartz, Jessell, 2000). In other words, it is the process of interpreting and organizing sensory information. Perception must be understood according to figure ground, similarity, proximity, continuity, and other organizing principles. At work in the interpretation of sensory stimuli are other perceptual phenomena such as perceptual constancy, a phenomenon which occurs in the perception of size, shape, color, and brightness; depth perception, another phenomenon based on binocular and monocular cues; and the perception of motion (Wood, 2008). One of the brain s primary functions is to obtain biologically important information from the various sensory inputs. The brain of a human is provided with sufficient information about a variety of things such as light, sound, the atmosphere s chemical composition, temperature, and things such as head orientation, limb position, the chemical composition of the bloodstream, among other things. Specialized sensors project signals into the brain when they detect sensory modalities. Light sensitive neurons in the retina of the eye, vibration sensitive neurons in the cochlea of the ear, along with the pressure sensitive neurons in the skin are all specialized receptor cells of which each sensory system begins with. • 29. Masculinity And Femininity Although complementary, the stories told about masculinity and femininity have very different impacts on those that feel pressured to conform to them, or are subject to experience their effects by others who do. A particularly insidious source of these stories comes from advertisements, as noted by Jean Kilbourne in Killing Us Softly 4 (2010). She quotes a statement by the editor in chief of an advertising magazine that only 8% of an ad s message is received by the conscious mind. The rest is worked and reworked deep within the recesses of the brain . The internalization of the messages from these advertisements unwittingly teaches men and women what is expected of them, and what is desirable. For women, it is taught that femininity requires flawless beauty, with unnaturally smooth skin (preferably light toned), shiny hair, dimple free curves cinched by a tiny waist, and a graceful demeanor. It is taught that women must pursue this image, whether it be through the purchase of cosmetics or surgical procedures, or diet products and exercise programs. These advertisements often depict women as having elegance and sensuality in their passiveness lounging around as they enjoy beauty products or indulgent foods, or draped upon powerful men. They must act as though they enjoy being objectified; welcoming men s advances, even in violent or dangerous situations. In contrast, men in advertisements are encouraged to model masculinitythrough violence, dismissal of emotions in

Instead, you enter a world of ambiguous conversations surrounding suicide and nihilism. The short story introduces an ideology of agnosticism and atheism that challenges the ever powerful, and meaningful, religious ideologies. In this case, the agonistic worldview is oppressed compared to an ideal religious ideology. Another idealistic feature within the text is being youthful. The younger waiter in the story is privileged because he has many years ahead of him, a wife, and he believes he has a more meaningful life. The oppressed and unappealing people in the text would be the old deaf man and the old waiter that are in the story. With the younger waiter being privileged in the story, it is essential to challenge and reverse the powerful hierarchies that romanticize being youthful and having meaning in ones life. When the younger waiter refuses to let the old man stay and drink in the cafe he assumes that the old man can go drink elsewhere. He doesn t realize that he needs the cafe, because it is nicely lit and it is quiet. Not only is the waiter closing the cafe earlier than usual, but he mentions that an hour means more to him than it would to the old man. The text states, Why didn t you let him stay and drink? the unhurried waiter asked. They were putting up the shutters. It is not half past two. I want to go home to bed. What is an hour? More to me than to him. An hour is the same (381). At this point in the story, the older waiter is telling the young man that he was wrong for sending the old man away. When the younger waiter to state that his time is more valuable than the old man, this shows how the older people in the text are being oppressed. According to Rolfe, To reverse the resident hierarchy, only to displace it, that is, to expose and challenge binary opposites in the text, to expose the

INTRODUCTION This section contains Background , Research Questions and Objectives , and Scope of the Project . 1.1 BACKGROUND The beauty industry has been marked as the most prominent industry in Thailand for the last five years, with skin care as the most valuable sector (Sanoachitt, 2015; Euromonitor International, 2016). In 2015, the skin care sector expanded by 9% in term of value to reach Bt65.6 billion or ВЈ1.45 billion (MarketLine, 2016). The main contributor to the growth was an increase in the attention of Thai people towards their appearance and wellness. The users of skin care products are no longer limited to senior women but are now popular among all age and gender (Pratruangkrai, 2015). The market observers expect the sector to grow continually and value Bt76.7 billion or ВЈ1.55 billion by 2020, despite the negative outlook of the national income (Euromonitor International, 2016; Chinosuntrakorn, 2009). The main driving forces of the skin care market are the opening of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and an increase of pollution and stress one encounters in daily life. Conclusion: From the data gathered from the experiment it shows that the souring agent that was more acidic clearly created more mass. At first Vinegar was showing promise, seeming like the more acidic and powerful agent, yet lemon juice increased at a higher rate. For 3 out of the 4 test of different amounts lemon juice approximately had a greater mass by 5 6 grams. For example, at 16ml, trial 2, lemon juice had the mass of 41.9, while vinegar had 36.3. • 41. Character Analysis Of Whistling Vivaldi The focal subject of Whistling Vivaldi is character, and, moreover, the distinctive ways individuals react to each other s personalities. Amid his times of research into social brain science, Claude Steele has considered a wide range of types of character, including, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, social introduction, class, and age. One of the premises of his exploration is that individuals will definitely judge each other on the premise of their personality. Moreover, Steele contends that each one of a kind personality has a related generalization a sort of short hand for seeing how individuals with that character will act. Stereotyping is, obviously, a typical type of extremism. For instance, a math teacher who expect that a female understudywon t be ready to comprehend the material is utilizing a sexist generalization that ladies aren t great at math to judge the understudy s conduct. Steele indicates how stereotyping, and the danger of being stereotyped, can apply an immense impact on various individuals conduct. Ostensibly Steele s most critical knowledge about stereotyping is that the consciousness of generalizations (and especially the dread of being stereotyped) can be more capable than an unequivocal instance of stereotyping. Quite a bit of Steele s examination is revolved around the dread of being stereotyped or, put another route, of satisfying a generalization, especially in a college setting. For instance, Steele and his partners sorted out trials in which high contrast Stanford understudies were made a request to take a troublesome test. Half of the understudies were informed that the exam measured insight, while the other half were told the exam was an analytic test, and not organized to gauge knowledge. Steele found that dark understudies who d been informed that the exam measured knowledge did more awful than white understudies who d gotten a similar data. In any case, dark understudies who d been told the exam didn t quantify insight performed at an indistinguishable level from their white partners. Steele translates his investigations to recommend that dark understudies dread of affirming a contemptible generalization in particular, that dark individuals are less wise than white

It is mncerned with how children and adults understand the world around them. Caregivers must channelize the child s initiative towards constructive ends, which will help her to develop self confidence. The caregivers have to teach the child self control and limits of her behaviour but they have to do so without curbing her initiative. If something must not be done, they must explain to the child why it is so, instead of simply restricting her actions. It would be more useful if caregivers inculcate desirable social values, without being overly concerned about whether the values are conventionally masculine or feminine. Feminist View On Women And Marriage In Othello Feminists believe that marriage is a source of conflict, in the play it suggests that marriageability is most women s only road to power, the goal was to secure family, wealth, and protection from a male. And to fulfil this, women needed to be continuously sexually attractive yet pure and modest. Once married, it was self evident that wives should follow their husbands and be humoured by them in return. After a wife had provided an heir, she was truly secure. This can be reflected in Iagos cynical comment She never yet was foolish that was fair, for even her folly helped her to an heir (Othello: Act 2. Sc. 1. 7). In modern day terms, he is saying that no pretty woman can be considered stupid since they are all clever enough to use their looks to ensnare a husband and this achieves respectability. Feminists argument to women and marriagein the play would be that currently there are many women who would more likely choose their career instead of chasing someone to be their husband. Women don t need to do anything for men to feel secure. Secondly, it very much objectifies women as being possessions to patriarchal heirs. Marxists would believe that this form of thinking is just all down to the bourgeoisie and how marriage is an institute that allows everyone in society to have a set order and in feminist s eyes, they view society undermining female equality. Their mode of action is by mimicking the substrate molecule HMG CoA and competes for binding to the HMGCR enzyme. It works by slowing the production rate of mevalonate which responsible for the production of cholesterol molecule. Most of the cholesterol synthesis in the body is done by internal mechanism through the liver cells particularly at night during fasting; it is taken at night to inhibit the cholesterol production. It maximizes its inhibitory effect and the data shows a significant fall in the LDL and a fall in the total cholesterol level in the blood. Simvastatin can have different pharmacological effects from other statins groups due to different ring structures and chemical side groups such as different affinity toward the receptors, different rates of connection to liver cells from non liver cells, different bioavailability and biochemical metabolism and execration. All these factors affect its half life which is short (Anon, 2015). Statins are selective towards the hepatic cells because of their lipophilic properties.
