1. Essay On Critical Thinking Skills
Crafting an essay on the subject of critical thinking skills presents a multifaceted challenge. First
and foremost, delving into the intricacies of critical thinking requires a profound understanding
of the concept itself. This involves unraveling the layers of what it means to think critically,
examining the cognitive processes involved, and understanding its significance in various
contexts.
Moreover, the difficulty lies in the necessity to strike a delicate balance between theoretical
concepts and practical applications. Critical thinking is not merely an abstract notion; it is a skill
that permeates everyday decision-making and problem-solving. Hence, the challenge is to
seamlessly intertwine theoretical frameworks with real-world examples, creating a coherent
narrative that not only defines critical thinking but also illustrates its practical implications.
Another layer of complexity arises when attempting to cater to a diverse audience. Critical
thinking is a universal skill, applicable across disciplines and professions. As such, the essay must
be tailored to resonate with readers from various backgrounds and academic levels. Striking a
chord with both beginners seeking an introduction to the topic and advanced thinkers aiming for
a nuanced exploration adds an additional layer of intricacy to the writing process.
Additionally, maintaining a logical flow and coherence within the essay is paramount. Given the
multifaceted nature of critical thinking, there is a risk of the essay becoming disjointed or
scattered. It demands a meticulous organization of ideas, ensuring that each section seamlessly
transitions into the next, building a comprehensive and cohesive argument.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the need for originality. Critical thinking has been a
subject of extensive study and discourse. Thus, the essay must contribute fresh insights, offering
a unique perspective that adds value to the existing body of knowledge. This requires extensive
research, critical analysis, and the ability to synthesize information into a compelling narrative.
In conclusion, writing an essay on critical thinking skills is a formidable task that demands a
deep understanding of the subject, a skillful integration of theory and practice, an ability to cater
to diverse audiences, a commitment to logical coherence, and a dedication to providing original
insights. It is an intellectual journey that requires careful navigation through the complexities of
critical thinking, making it both a challenging and rewarding endeavor.

2. St Thomas Aquinas Unbelievers Essay
Both in the times of St. Thomas Aquinas and in our times, there are many other
religions. To avoid an everlasting war many chose to tolerate those of the different
religions. The Catholic Church teaches that it is the true Church and that salvation
cannot be found outside of the Catholic Church (Catechism). When St. Thomas
Aquinasspeaks of unbelievers he speaks of those who are not Catholic. Unbelievers
are very different from heretics. While the Church tends to treat unbelievers the
same as they have for many years, it no longer treats heretics in the way they once
did. In this paper I will discuss and analyze the thinking of St. Thomas Aquinas about
unbelievers and heretics and I will reflect upon and compare how those views fit into

Belief must be of one s own will and through the conversion process converts find
and struggle with their will, they then accept their will, and they have the word of
Christ within them once they are able to receive the sacraments.
Aquinas explains how we must have unbelievers in our world for religion to work and
continue to grow. Catholics are all called to evangelize, and this helps others get to
know God and his wonderous deeds. God in a sense asks us to evangelize by
allowing certain evils:
But God, although all powerful and supremely good, nonetheless allows some evils
to take place in the universe, evils that he could prevent, lest greater goods be lost
if evils were removed, or lest rightly tolerate certain evils let certain goods be
prevented, or even worse evils incurred (Aquinas 193).
Evangelization is a useful tool in compelling others towards Christ. When we
evangelize through working we express how much our beliefs rely on both prayer
and work. James 2:14 says, What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has
faith but has not works ? This passage from the Bible shows us again that we are
meant to go out and live our faith and evangelize through our deeds. God allows
different evils so that he can allow for these different goods, some of these goods can
be achieved through evangelization. Moments of working through our deeds
3. Non Traditional Family Model
Marriage, a form of interpersonal union that creates a familial bond and is recognized
legally, religiously, or socially, gives participating partners mutual rights and
responsibilities (Dictionary.com, 2018). Family ties are a deep source of satisfaction
and meaning, yet the traditional family model is changing drastically.
Traditionally, the model of the familyis recognized with the husband being the steady
source of income for the family, and the wife working and raising children at home,
until they reach the age of 18. American family life is focused on continuity and
change. Only 7% of American families fit the traditional family model, demonstrating
that family structure has changed over the years. Conservatives believe it is
necessary for the government to step in to restore marriage and the two parent family,
or else it will disappear altogether. Non traditional family models that are becoming
increasingly popular include single mother or father families, gay and lesbian
families, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number of Canadians living alone has been steadily increasing; a quarter of
households contain only one person. Two person households have also become
more common. Causes of lone parent families are also changing; whereas lone
parent families once were generally the result of the death of one parent, they are
now caused by the growing incidence of divorce (Ravelli, 2005).
Numerous personal, economic, and cultural factors contribute to the decline of the
traditional family model. To give an example of a personal factor, a woman who
has been divorced is understandably less positive towards the idea of marriage than
a woman who has never been married. Others view not being married as insurance
against marital failure. Some say the laws around marriage and divorce are too
complex, thus they prefer to live together in a common law relationship (Ravelli,
4. Coat Of Arms Research Paper
Coat of arms were very popular in the medieval ages. It was used by royalty and
non royalty. Coat of arms were usually a shield decorated with a bunch of different
symbols that had different meanings, and every family had a different coat of arms.
Coat of arms were used by knights when they did a joust or fought in battle. After a
while though people started using them for decoration. Animals were very popular to
put on coat of arms. On my coat of arms I put a panther and some griffins. The
panther symbolizes protecting and being fierce, the griffin symbolizes bravery.
There are a lot of other different kinds of animals that almost always mean
different things. Some though are pretty close to being the same. For example the
griffin symbolizes bravery and the unicorn symbolizes extra bravery. Which are
basically the same thing. Believe it or not colors also meant different things on a
coat of arms. On my coat of arms I put the colors green, blue, and red. Green means
joy and loyalty, blue means loyalty, and red... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Crown like symbols were put usually on the top of a coat of arms. On my coat of
arms I put a crown and an oyster shell. I put the crown on top because that was a
very common one. I put the oyster shell down though because it symbolizes
traveling, and my family travels a lot. You can put down lots of other kinds of
symbols too like bells, anchors, and even feathers. Weapons meant things too. On
my coat of arms I put a sword because it symbolizes military honor, and like I said
before some of my family served in the military. Scrolls and ribbons did not have a
lot of meaning they were used for names and mottos or anything that needed to be
written down. These were usually put on the top and bottom but you could use
ribbons for an extra decoration, you could make it look like it was tied to something
and that it was flowing
5. The Movie, The Matrix, Written and Directed by the...
The movie The Matrix, written and directed by The Wachowski brothers, can be
seen as the ultimate Marxist metaphor. Its basic premise is that the world as we
know it is fake; it is a computer simulated dreamworld , mimicking our own world
of the late 90s, called the Matrix. In charge of the Matrix itself is a seemingly
malevolent sentient machine species. Even worse, the sole purpose of this simulation
is to control humanity, which has been enslaved inside the simulation for several
hundreds of years. It was a matter of survival for the Machines, as the humans in the
days before the Matrixattempted to destroy the Machines by blocking their power
source the sun. So, in order for their species to continue living humanity was enslaved
within the Matrixand their bioelectric energies were harvested and used to power the
Machine civilization. Clearly if Karl Marx heard this story he would fall in love with
it, assuming that he could stomach both the violence in the movie and Keanu Reeves
acting*.
Many aspects of the plot of The Matrix have clear correspondence to elements of
Marx s Social Conflict theory. According to Marxist criticisms of Capitalism, there
are two major social classes, the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat. The Bourgeoisie, or
the elite, are the wealthy people, the business owners, and the politicians. They are
the people in charge. This elite class controls the Proletariat. The Proletariat, or non
elite, is the working class. They make up the workforce
6. Concussions In Professional Sports
Concussion ratings have went up in many sports and many people are trying to
change that. Every player wants to play the sport they love as long as they can but
you can t play sports with brain injuries. Many players don t think of concussions as
much as they should they are way more serious then talked to be. Therefore i think
all athletes should not be able to play or practice when they have suffered from three
concussions because of the potential harm concussions have on the body.
Some may argue that it is not up to the coach, team, or league to make the decision to
pull an athlete due to a possible concussion. Many players say they are fine and can
go back to playing. When many players take a hard hit to the head, they say they are

The NFL has put in new rules in place that keep the ball handler safe from hits to
the head. The NFL has put a new rule in that if you hit a player in the crown of the
head you will be penalized 15 yards. This rule is supposed to decrease the amount
of hits to head players receive. Another rule put in is you can not hit a defenseless
player because they have no idea they are about to receive a big hit. Even with
these new rules concussion rates are still going up. In 2009 the NFL put in a new
rule that would have players checked on the sidelines to tell whether they could go

7. Daycare Vs Home Parenting Research Paper
Are you debating whether to send your child to daycare or to be a stay at home
parent? Parents always face this question when their children reach a certain age.
Nearly three quarters of American mothers with children at home are employed.
Many parents pick daycare over being a stay at home parent. Many people don t
know what daycare actually is. Daycare is a facility that takes care of children
while their parents are at work. Stay at home parents don t normally work, and stay
at home with their children for most of the day. The ones that do work, work at
home. It is very clear which one is better for children development. Daycare is better
than stay at home parents for children development.

A wind turbine is a machine for converting the kinetic energy in wind into
mechanical energy . (1) The inventor of the first electric wind turbine was
Clevelander Charles Brush, who ran his entire Euclid Avenue mansion off of one for
20 years, which later made the cover of Scientific American in 1888. (2) Although
the use of alternate energy didn t rise a great deal afterwards, this event did open the
eyes for many environmentalists. Wind poweris only one of our several energy
source[s] whose fuel is free and will never be exhausted (3) with the pros and cons
not completely weighed out as to whether it will be truly beneficial or not. The two
main issues regarding wind turbines are the environmental effects that they have and

The integration process would be slow until there was more emphasis on its use in
society. It will be true with wind turbines as well; more transmission lines will be
needed to make them more appealing for the general public and businesses.
Another problem with building wind turbines is that you are placed on a waiting
list in order to be able to build one and waiting lists now fall somewhere in the
vicinity of a year and a half to two years . (10) The wait may not be too long
considering the benefits that they can provide, but then building one becomes an
even more difficult issue because there is the necessity of one of only six cranes in
the country that are capable of hoisting the turbine s pieces into place . (11) The
construction also takes months and even years, if you are planning a wind farm. After
all this work, some people would question whether or not it was worth it. The British
Wind Energy Association states that it is cheaper to save electricity than to generate
it, by whatever method , (12) but since people don t take actions to reduce their
electricity use, another method has to be put into place. On average, MN residents
use 7 blocks of electricity/month. This premium of 1Вў/kWh compares to the price
of under 10Вў/kWh for non wind power. Each year, every block of wind power
purchased will have the same environmental benefit of planting ВЅ acre of trees or

9. History Is False Research Paper
History is False
History is dictated by the victors (Churchill). No victor in a war will criticize the
actions they took during the war or justify their enemies actions, condemning their
enemy in the history books. After the war is won the politicians decree how the
events are told. With no one to oppose the legislators write the history books from
their own perspective, shaping the minds of everyone who reads history books.
Victors of conflict dictate how history is molded, because as winners of war they are
the policy makers with political influence.
The winners of war hold all the political power. After the war there is the victors
and the defeated. In most cases wars are fought till the other side is eliminated,
leaving one side still standing. The side still standing holds absolute power over the
other country because, they are still intact. When other nations have crumbled they
still hold power. How could a country without power oppose them? To end WWI the

They can change the history books to praise allies and bash enemies, while making

Knowledge of this is unknown to most people. Everyone has heard about the

the holocaust was a way to make the American public loath the Germans. The reason
you don t hear about the atrocities committed by Japan is because they became an

Wesley and Frank s grandfather, Julian, thinks that it is unnecessary for Frank to be

Case Study of Character: The character I have chosen for the focus of my case
study is Brooke Davis, from the television show, One Tree Hill. Over the nine
seasons of this show, we see Brooke go from a wild teen not caring about her future
regarding careers to an admirable, hardworking, and focus individual. Throughout her
high schoolteen years, Brooke lacked parental guidance in her household. In her
childhood years, she witnessed a lot of fighting and arguments of her parents. In her

parents to compensate for their absence. Without any rules or restrictions, Brooke

The identity status she best fits in at this stage is identity diffusion. I feel like she
fits better in this stage because as a result of Brooke not having experiencing any
sort of rules around her household during her teenage years, her world revolved
around shopping, partying, and boys. She never really gave much thought to what
she wanted to become in the future because she lacked that motivation from her
parents. Later on, Brooke develops a strong interest in designing her own clothes
and begins her own clothing line, Clothes Over Bros, while still being a senior in
high school. After she graduates from high school, four years pass and we see
Brooke become a major and well known fashion designer in New York and her
clothing company had already made millions. This is where Brooke Davis
experienced the status of identity achievement. Her clothing line started as a small
idea in high school and through exploration of the fashion designer world, her
dream became a reality. I would not say that she ever experienced the status of
identity moratorium because she never really was torn between to career areas.
Once she knew that she had that desire to design clothes, she went for it without
second guessing herself. The status that Brooke proved wrong is identity
foreclosure. She proved this wrong because just because fashion designing was her
passion, she did not let the industry change who she was. She managed to be highly
successful while still remaining humble and not changing her beliefs or morals to
conform to everyone else. A lot of time, the money changes people but because

The technology plays an important role in the novel: it shapes the environment,
where the story unfolds, affects main and supporting characters and, ultimately, it
allows humans to construct various machines (examples: robots, artificial
intelligence, space ships etc.). Technological innovations, in Neuromancer , are far
ahead of modern time: bodily modifications and cyberizations are rampant, the
progress in medicine and food industry is significant, but, most importantly, the
advance in the computer technologyand robotics is exceptional. Biotechnology plays
a significant role in the story: any organic flesh can be grown in the vats, any

immortality can be achieved through a combination of the genetic surgery, serums,
hormones and a yearly re set of DNAs (12). Various robots and machines are
encountered throughout the story: the robot crab (30), a hovercraft (39), a shuttle

other types of drones and AI. Human s personalities and skills can be uploaded into

plant workers as a result of thermal burns and radiation exposure in the first four
months following the accident, while Chernobyl was found to be responsible for
about 7,000 cases of thyroid cancer within individuals under 18.(2) In the event of a
nuclear accident, the main concern is the release of radioactive material, most likely
from a nuclear core meltdown and a breach in the containment of nuclear substances.
These concerns have led to the utilization of procedures following an accident;
evacuation from the area of the incident to prevent contamination, taking shelter in
ventilation closed areas to avoid radiation, disposal of contaminated products as well
as use of proper medical procedures.(3)

15. Theory Of Perfectionism
According to Dunn, Whelton, and Sharpe (2006), due to working as academics
involves having to constantly receive criticism from colleagues and students as well
as bearing the expectations to deliver work in the highest standards, university
academics are therefore seen as the most appropriate group to represent the
professional group for the study of perfectionism. The career as a universityprofessor
is indeed very challenging, whereby everyday work entails critical scrutiny from
peers. In addition to that, the environment that these professors have to face each day
are somewhat trying and unaccommodating (Gmelch, Wilke, Lovrich, 1986) which
can further aggravate dysfunctional personality tendencies. All these criteria may one

According to a study conducted by Dr. Sherry and colleagues, it was found that the
existence of a high level of perfectionism among professors led to a lesser likelihood
of them producing publications, gaining valuable citations and also publishing their
work in high impact journals or in other words lower research productivity. This could
impact their career in the long run due to the more they had perfectionistic tendencies
within them, the less productive they were in research. Whereas there is general
agreement in the literature on the definition of perfectionism, Dr. Sherry is of the
opinion that perfectionists are individuals who either strive to execute a task perfectly
or not executing it at all. They can never settle for less in anything that they do and
may continuously reflect on their abilities which can lead to an exaggerated self
checking of not committing any mistakes whatsoever (Charbonneau,

Augmented Reality
According to the University of Southern California (2010), Augmented Reality (AR)
is a type of virtual reality which referred to a computer generated that produces an
additional environment to enhance the real world environment and the real sensory
experienced where the participant can see and interact without distinguishing the
difference between the real and augmented world.
Augmented reality vs. Virtual reality
To compare the sense of reality experienced by augmented reality and virtual reality
participants, Wu (2011) implies that in virtual reality, the participant fully realises the
unrealism that they are experiencing with the brain perceiving as if it is a true
experience in a virtual world whereas augmented reality, delivers a intermingling of
real world and virtual world experiences which the participant can sense more of
reality.
Wu (2011) clearly explains the difference between them that:
Augmented reality is different from virtual reality. Virtual reality: what you see is
virtual. You only see the virtual thing. But augmented reality you re still seeing the
real world. It just augments some virtual information on top of the real world. So, it
gives you actual information but didn t replace the real world you re experiencing.

Haiti held a moderately fair presidential election. With over fifty percent of registered

was a remarkable step towards democracy.
Nonetheless, the president s popularity faded soon after the election. Aristide lost

the lack of support resulted in a coup in 1991. The successful mutiny hurled the newly
formed democratic nation back into familiar political turmoil just after nine months
of Aristide being elected president. In response to the coup, the Organization of
American States (OAS) suspended economic relations, while the United States
responded by enforcing trade embargoes and freezing Haiti s accounts (Torgman).
The OAS urged all neighboring states to isolate Haiti by instituting hemisphere wide
restrictions. The plan was implemented to restore democracy in Haiti but resulted in

What I Have Learned? (at least two full pages)
During this second observation at Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina, I learned many things. I went to this location on a Saturday night, where
it was full of young people. The weather outside was warm, but rainy, so I believe
this caused even more people to look for indoor fun, so the mall was packed on this
Saturday night.
I began my observation in the food court, which is near the movie theatre. This is
definitely a hot spot in the mall for young people. I got something to ... Show more

Another thing I noticed about the young people at the mall that night was the
language they used! I was completely appalled at the way these young people were
speaking. As the young people moved about around me, I couldn t believe some of
the words that were coming out of their mouths. I realize that these are young
people and they are still trying to figure themselves out and fit in, but I honestly
did not realize that young people spoke this way. It was very difficult for me not to
speak up at that point and ask them to please not use that type of language. This
made me realize the negativity that must be going on in their minds and hearts. This
really opened my eyes to the actions of young people that I wasn t aware of.
Seeing the way these young people were acting, dressing, and speaking made me
realize, to an even greater degree, how important youth ministry is. These young
people broke my heart that night as I realized how lost they must be. Many of them
probably didn t grow up in loving homes. Many of them may not even have homes to
go to when they left the mall that night. What is truly heartbreaking is that many of
them may have never had anyone share the Gospel with them. Their actions that
night are only a result of the environment they ve grown up in. I tried to imagine the
home life some of them came from. As I attempted to look deeper, I wondered which
20. Jean Baudrillard Research Paper
The Human mind is a very intriguing thing that develops plenty of ideas that
sometimes may only occur to brilliant thinkers such as Jean Baudrillard.
Baudrillard s theory is that due to the media repeatedly altering reality we have
lost touch with what is real and what is not, presuming that the media conveys one
reality and developing on it which will conclude to the viewers losing touch with
the reality and having a hyper reality produced on a reoccurring a cycle on the
hyper reality created by the media itself and hence the world would be living in the
hyper reality created by the media for its viewers these theories are referred to as

Such production misrepresents and masks an underlying reality by imitating it so
well, thus threatening to replace it (e.g. in photography or ideology); however, there
is still a belief that, through critique or effective political action, one can still access
the hidden fact of the real; 3) in the third order of simulacra, which is associated with
the postmodern age, we are confronted with a precession of simulacra; that is, the
representation precedes and determines the real. There is no longer any distinction
between reality and its representation; there is only the simulacrum. Felluga

Societal Views of Women in the Victorian Era in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House
A Doll s House, by Henrik Ibsen, creates a peephole into the lives of a family in the
Victorian Era. The play portrays a female viewpoint in a male dominated society.
The values of the society are described using the actions of a woman, Nora, who
rebels against the injustices inflicted upon her gender. Women s equality with men
was not recognized by society in the late 1800 s. Rather, a woman was considered a
doll, a child, and a servant. Nora s alienation reveals society s assumptions and values
about gender.
A woman was considered by society to be a doll because she was expected to be
subordinate to her husband s whims. Referring to a ball that she ... Show more content

She alludes to a child s character when she says, everything I think of seems so silly
and insignificant (26). Torvaldreplies with a condescending statement: Does my
little Nora acknowledge that at last? (26). Torvald expects only childish talk from
her. He even tells her she is little, like a child, and although he expects nothing more
than child s talk from her, he does expect to be obeyed.
Nora plays the part of a slave in her subservience to her husband, for she is
supposed to abide by his rules and be dependent on him. She is not supposed to
think for herself and repeatedly told so by those around her. When speaking about
Nora in her presence, Torvald says, She is so terribly self willed (55). Nora has a
conversation with Mrs. Linde, who also tells her, Don t be self willed (57).
Torvald tells her, I will advise you and direct you (64). Nora is expected to be a
dependent slave who follows her husband s advice and directions. Women were also
legally dependent upon men. The society s laws of that time even required the male
to cosign everything that a woman had to sign. Nora s naivete in forging her father s
signature and trying to pay off the loan further emphasizes Victorian society s
assumptions about women s inability to deal with a man s world.
These assumptions about women caused their gender value to be vastly

Your dream is your divine gift to the world, it is your mission that needs to be
accomplished It is your legacy that must be left. It is the meaning of life that you
are searching for. It is the imprint that you were here someday and made a
difference. It is a small soul that needs you to save it and bring to life. You and only
you can make your dream come true. You and only you can help your ideas and

only you can do your work and make your own unique contribution to the world.
You and only you can be your dream hero. Don t wait for the perfect moment and
conditions, don t postpone it any longer. Start today, with baby steps, with no clear
roadmap, with fears and doubts. You don t have to have a clear vision of how
things unfold. You don t need to have all the answers at the onset of your journey;
what you need to have, however, is unwavering faith that one day these vision shall
transmute into reality. As you might already know, the journey won t be always
seamless and easy. There will be sunshine and rainbows as there will be rain and
hailstorms. There will be moments of glory and victory as there will be moments of
defeat and tragedy. But remember that everything you go through and every single
moment happens for you and shapes who you are. Life often tests your commitment
to gauge how much do you really want it. To pass life tests, you need to hold on your

In her epilogue article Crack Music: Michael Jackson s Invincible, Elizabeth Amisu
brings to light a multitude of striking similarities between a handful of seemingly
unrelated artists. The artists in question being Michael Jackson, Kanye West, and
none other than William Shakespeare. Upon first reading the article, I could see the
similarities between Michael Jackson and Kanye West, as both were black artists who
were able to break through into the mainstream musicindustry despite institutional
limitations. However, I initially believed that their relation to Shakespeare was quite
a stretch, but after reading further realized that Shakespeare had many similar
hurdles to overcome as Jackson and West, just perhaps in different forms. Jackson,
West, and Shakespeare all had to overcome a multitude of obstacles in their own
careers in order for their talents to be recognized by the mainstream. Jackson had to
overcome racial barriers that were designed to keep exclusively whites in the music

For instance, both Michael Jackson and Kanye West brought new sounds to their
respective genres. Jackson brought rock aspects and soul aspects into the pop
industry, and was one of the trailblazers when it came to technological music. West
integrated orchestral music and gospel choirs into a few of his albums ( Kanye West,
2017). On top of that, both Jackson and West had sizable impacts on industries
outside of their main one, particularly the fashion industry. Michael Jackson s impact
came from the clothes that he wore in his short films and his live performances,
iconic outfits such as the Beat It Jacket, and the suit that he wore in Smooth Criminal.
Kanye West actually held a stake in the fashion industry, partnering with companies
such as Nike early on and eventually launching his own apparel

25. Defamiliarization In William Carlos Williams s To A Poor...
What do words actually mean? When we are reading, many of us don t actually
stop to think about the meaning of each word (unless the word is unfamiliar),
instead we just assume what it means we read automatically. Looking at the poem,
To A Poor Old Woman by William Carlos Williams, we see the Shklovsky s concept
of defamiliarization in use. When we look at Shklovsky s concept, The technique of
art is to make objects unfamiliar to make forms difficult, to increase the difficulty
and length of perception because the process of perception is an aesthetic end in
itself and must be prolonged (Rivkin and Ryan 9). Using this same concept, looking
at the first stanzaof To a Poor Old Woman, we see the way that the stanza was
structured in a way to make it unfamiliar. The author splits the sentences up where
they normally wouldn t be split up, so that gives that sense of unfamiliarity, so we
begin to questionwhat the words actually mean. If a person attempts to read it as a
normal sentence, we would see that someone is eating a plum, the street is a paper
bag, and something is in her hand. The reason I believe the lines are broken up in a
weird way is because it s trying to give that sense of unfamiliarity to get an audience
to focus on what this stanza is really trying to say. Looking at the second stance, we
see the repetition of They taste good to her written in different forms. This repetition
gives an unfamiliar sense because each time it repeats, it gives off

will be benefited due to the fact that you will be advertising only to the potential

When you look at the product that is being advertised by AgriGold, you have to
consider a few different things when determining where it lies exactly within its life
cycle. When you consider the product to be seed corn itself, the product has reached
maturity and is beginning to enter the declining stage. What is meant by this is the
fact that seed corn solely as a product has been sold for centuries and has reached its
maximum penetration point within the market (given that people continue with their
traditional crop rotation strategies). Yet, I said that it is beginning to enter into the
declining stage. When I say that seed corn is beginning to enter the declining stage I
am referring to the fact that there is only a limited amount of land available to plant.
As the populations grow, there is less land that is used for agricultural purposes,
which ultimately correlates into declining demand for seed corn. While seed corn
will always remain a very important and high value product, there

issues or concerns of Pleasantville, the village board will conduct meetings like a
public hearing on other weekdays. These meetings are located in the conference
room on the second floor of the Village hall, which is also next to the Pleasantville
Police Station. The village board consists of four trustees Steven Lord, Mindy
Berard, Colleen Griffin Wagner and Joseph Stargiotti a mayor Peter Scherer a
village clerk Judith Weintraub and the village administrator Patricia Dwyer. The
village board members were dressed in semi casual business attire, which
appropriately fit their position. The members sat in a congressional layout, which
looked like the formation of a half circle or crescent. This allowed the audience to
see each individual s face and it is easier to identify who is speaking. They also
used parliamentary motions when they spoke. The purpose of the village of
Pleasantville board meetings is to discuss and resolve present issues and future
events that are happening or are expected to happen in the Pleasantville area.
Residents have the opportunity to either post questions for the village board to
answer on their website or they can call the board live on the telephone. The trustees
and the mayor usually dominated the entire conversation and were the only people
who were permitted to speak during the

A Modest Proposal to Trump Concerning the Ban on Immigration The most recent
news coming from Washington is the immigration bill that Donald Trump has just
signed into effect. This places a ban on immigration for anyone that is a citizen or

that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when truly
only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons.
Although Trump s administration has tried to understate the importance of this act by

There is a present disdain for the United States in those countries however this is an
even larger reason why this ban is simply idiotic. This will increase tensions and push

have to go and destroy theirs just to prove that yours is better. Educate them. Show

34. How Does Love Cause Conflict In A Midsummer Night s
Dream
In the play, A Midsummer Night s Dream, William Shakespeare tries to tell the
readers that love can often sway people into performing illogical decisions. First of
all, love can cause conflict amongst people. This is shown when two of the main
characters, Demetrius and Lysander, were fighting with each other for Hermias love.
Demetrius scorns: Relent, sweet Hermia and Lysander, yield. Thy crazed title to my
certain right. (1.1.91 92). The conflict between the two men created tension amongst
themselves, Hermia, Helena, and the Noblemen of Athens. Moreover, love is also
shown to cause betrayal amongst friends. In the first act of the play, Demetrius was
in love with Hermia; and Helena, her best friend, was willing to betray her just for his

Furthermore, affection amongst people can require some sacrifices to be made.
Since the Duke of Athens (Theseus) strictly forbade Lysander and Helena to be
wed, they had to find another way to do so. Lysander whispers: {To Helena} If
thou lovest me then, steal forth thy father s house tomorrow night. And in the
wood, a league without the town...There I will stay for thee. (1.1.163 168). Instead
of talking to the Duke about their situation, they decided that leaving Athens and
their things behind for the cause of love would be a better plan. Likewise, anger
between people has also been proven to be caused by love. When the magical fairy
Puck applied the love potion on Demetrius and Lysander, they both ended up falling
in love with Helena, which threw Hermia into a rage. Hermia yells: You thief of
love! What, have you come by night and stolen my love s heart from him? (3.2.290

37. Security Plan For Cyber Security
In relation to defence spending, it s visible that there was a positive increase in the
year succeeding 2007, directly after the attacks. Though this was dramatically
decreased for the following two years, which can be explained by the global
economic downturn which begun in 2008 (Grigor′ev Salikhov, 2009). Therefore it
is not possible to conclude that Estonia directly increased spending on defence by a
significant figure because of the events that took place in 2007, but it can be
deduced that spending has had a gradual rise thereafter and is currently based above
€500 million euro with sufficient proportions being allocated to relevant cyber
defence mediums which have been ongoing since 2007. Table 2.2 illustrates Estonian

38. Hamlet Soliloquies Analysis
A soliloquy is a long speech spoken by a single character, similar to a monologue
and often found in plays. It usually reveals plot details or motivations that increase
the depth of the work. Several notable instances of soliloquy are found throughout
Shakespeare s tragic play Hamlet. Hamlet tells the tale of the distraught prince of
Denmark (the play s namesake): his quest to avenge his father s murder and his
struggles with mortality. The protagonist s soliloquies provide vital insight into
Hamlets personality, his motivations, and, perhaps most importantly, his spiral into
madness. Hamlet s personality, while hinted at by other characters and his own
actions, remains something of an enigma throughout the play. His soliloquies are
necessary, therefore, to gain a fuller understanding of it. One of two main aspects
of his personality revealed this way can be found in the most iconic lines of the play.
Hamlet is shown to be depressed before the to be or not to be soliloquy, but it is this
speech in which he shows the depth of his grapple with life. He contemplates
killing himself outright, questioning [w]hether tis nobler in the mind to suffer
[t]he slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, [o]r to take arms against a sea of
troubles, [a]nd, by opposing, end them? (Act 3, Sn. 1, ln. 58 61). This soliloquy
exposes the depressed mood he has had throughout the play up to this point and
shows it for what it really is. Another key point of Hamlet s personality emphasized
through soliloquy is his devout loyalty to his father, the king. When Hamlet
speaks to the ghost of his father, his suspicions seem to be true: Claudius, the king
s brother, murdered the king in order to gain his crown. Upon learning this, Hamlet
is initially shocked, but then flies into a rage, cursing his uncle and calling him a
smiling, damned villain (Act 1, Sn. 5, ln. 25 112). The fact that Hamlet is willing to
kill his own uncle in order to avenge his father goes great lengths to show his
devotion. It is clear from this that loyalty is a crucial element of Hamlet s character.
As well as allowing the audience a much better understanding of what type of person
Hamlet is, this insight into his personality gives a glimpse of his

40. Legalizing Vlts Case Study
BRIEFING NOTES FOR THE MINISTER OF FINANCE
REINTRODUCING VIDEO LOTTERY TERMINALS (VLTS) INTO ONTARIO
The Purpose:
The purpose of this note is to inform the Minister and her policy community of Bill
75 Alcohol Gaming and Charity Funding Public Interest Act 1996 and the
amendments to the Gaming Control Act, 1992 to legalize video lottery terminals
(VLTs). Before re introducing VLTs into Ontario, it is critical to understand the
strategies and outcomes that led to its current legislation.
Current Situation:
After the snap election, the new PC Government is considering introducing VLTs into
Ontario to generate more non tax revenue. The current legislation gives exclusive
VLTs rights to race tracks. It is anticipated that there will be two major... Show more

The race tracks: They will not give up its exclusive rights easily. If more of Ontario
had access to VLTS, race tracks will generate less revenue from VLTS.
2.Gambling addiction groups: Attempts to bring them on were unsuccessful when the
amendments were made to the Gaming Control Act. It is safe to assume these
organizations will oppose VLTs again.
Background:
The issue was framed to bring economic benefit to Ontario and eliminate illegal VLTs.
The economic benefits included: non tax revenue for the government, licensing fees
to municipalities, money for charity bingos and race tracks, employment in the
hospitality sector, and money for gambling addiction.
Alliances were formed with those who would benefit from the legalization of VLTS
and would lobby the government. This included associations involved in the
following industries: hotel and motels, brewers, food suppliers, video lottery
manufacturers and hospitality unions.
Recommended Next Steps:
A similar approach that led Bill 75 to legalize VLTs and gave exclusive rights to
race tracks has a history of success and a similar approach can be used again. The
race tracks may oppose in order to keep exclusive VLTS rights. They are aware of
the strategy that led to the success of Bill 75 and can create an effective counter
strategy to prevent the current government from succeeding in a similar fashion.
The first steps to take in re introducing VLTs is to approach the stakeholders who
supported VLTs in the past and have them vocalize their support towards extending
the rights outside of race
41. The Portrait Statue Augustus Of Prima Porta, Cleopatra
Portraiture is an old art form that dates back to ancient Egypt where it gained
popularity five thousand years before. A portrait is a sculpture, painting, drawing, or
engraving of a person that usually only depicts the head or head and shoulders.
Before photography was invented a sculptured, painted, or drawn portraitwas the most
common way to document someones appearance. Besides recording a persons looks
portraiture was used to portray the subjects beauty, importance, power, virtue, wealth,
and taste. You can see these ideals reflected in the Augusta of Prima Porta, Cleopatra,
and the Parthian Prince. The portrait statue Augustus of Prima Porta portrays
Augustus in battle gear with his hand raised upward as if he s commanding his
troops. Augustus portrait statue is wearing a muscle cuirass breastplate... Show more

On Augustus left side baby Cupid is riding a dolphin. Cupid was the son of the
love goddess Venus, his purpose was to shoot arrows through lovers hearts and
make them fall In love. The dolphin was one of Venus sacred animals. This portrait
statue of Augustus is meant to shows Augustus as a powerful military leader and
conqueror. Like Polykleitos Doryphoros, the empire is portrayed in youthful,
masculine way despite the fact that he was middle aged when the statue was
created. This to Polykleitos work connects Augustus to Ancient Greece s Golden
Age. Persian nationalism was reestablished by then end of the second century. The
images placed on Persian coins tell us that Parthian rulers were wearing their
traditional clothing which included pants and a v cut jacket. The Parthian Prince
portrait statue is six foot two inches tall and is cast in hollow bronze, the Parthian
Prince was possibly discovered inside a fire temple in the Bakhtiari region of
Khuzestan. The prince wears a rounded haircut topped with a crown of banded fillet

Explore the similarities and differences in the presentation of female characters in A
Streetcar Named Desire and The World s wife
In this essay, I will be exploring the similarities and differences of female
characters in A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams; and The World s
Wife by Carol Ann Duffy. Both texts denote women as somewhat weak and
incompetent and as having a predatory attitude towards the mainly dominant male
characters. A Streetcar Named Desire was written in 1945 and it initially connected
with America s new found taste for realism following the Great Depression and
World War II. William s based the character of Blanche on his sister who was
diagnosed with schizophrenia. Williams himself was homosexual, and ... Show more

In A Streetcar Named Desire , the reader is able to see Stella fulfil the role of a
protective mother when agreeing to send Blanche to a mental institution. Despite
Blanches shocking accusations, Stella must ignore her sister for the sake of her
child. Eunice says to her you done the right thing, the only thing you could do. The
reader is able to see the role of a female friend. In this case Eunice supports Stella
through the difficult time. This is similar to Queen Herod as in the poem, Duffy
shows her as having a lack of sense when it comes down to her baby daughter. Kill
each mother s son. Do it. Spare not one. Her sheer ruthlessness has been brought to
light. In Queen Herod , Duffy also makes references to friendship and sisterhood. The
black Queen scooped out my breast, this quote shows that women are willing to help
each other in their times of need.
The traditional qualities of a wife are subverted in Medusa . Duffy presents Medusa
as a woman who has been engulfed by jealousy, caused by her adulterous husband.
My brides breath soured stank in the grey bags of my lungs. This quote displays
that Medusa was once young and beautiful, but as a result of marriage has become
hideous. This contrasts with the character of Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire ,
who is a devoted and loving wife despite the way Stanley behaves towards her. He
didn t know what he was doing....He was
43. What Is The Difference Between David And Dumas
When there is two well known books and in these stories there are two men that are
placed to showcase their true personalities. For The Three Musketeers it s D
Artagnan, who want his success quick and puts its all on his back. On the other
hand, David in the Bible in 1 Samuel chapters 16 through 18 not only wanted his
success to be given to him by God. With those major differences, they both share
some qualities like their youth and many others. Alexander Dumas and Samuel, the
authors, both gives many situations to display both D Artagnan s and David s
character. D Artagnan and David are well known for what they did in their stories,
however their personalities are the things that are the focus of this paper. As an

Chapter Three A Monster in My Side We tore through the night down dark country
roads, wind slamming into the pickup. Rain lashed the windshield. I didn t know
how Mom could see anything, but she kept her foot on the pedal. Each time there
was a flash of lightning, I glanced at Simon sitting in the backseat, and I wondered
if I d gone mad or if he was wearing a robe, cone shaped hat, and elf shoes. All I
could think to say was, So, um, you and my dad know each other? Simon s gaze
flitted to the rearview mirror, though there were no cars behind us. Yeah, sure, he
said. We work together. Oh, so what exactly do you do? That doesn t matter right
now. Then why The less you know, the fewer monsters you ll attract, Simon said,
like that should be perfectly obvious. At least that s what it says in the book.
Monsters wait a minute, what do you mean? The howling rose up again from
somewhere behind the truck, closer than before. Whatever was chasing us was
still on our trail. Aiden, my mom said, there s too much to explain and not enough
time. We have to get you to safety. Safety from what? Who s after me? Oh, nobody
much, Simon said. Just Renwick and a few of his minions. Simon! Sorry, Ms.
Greene. Can you drive a little faster, please? I tried to wrap my mind around what
was going on, but I couldn t do it. I knew this wasn t a nightmare. My eyes were
open. Mom made a hard right. We turned sharply onto a narrow road, racing past

45. A Memo Requesting a Workshop on Writing Skills Essay
As you are well aware by now there was a memo circulated recently that was a very
poor reflection on our company. Unfortunately the memo was seen by a client and
those on the sales force has been suffering from very low morale. I m requesting
your support in starting a workshop on improving individual writing skills. At this
point in time I don t think that there is a more important project. It is extremely
clear that we need to help our coworkers learn how to communicate more effectively.
As unfair as it may seem, we are judged by the way we communicate, the words that
we use, and the way we use them.
I plan on breaking the workshop into three main categories; Content in Context, Back
to Basics, and Making the Most of Your Tools. These... Show more content on

Make sure you are using the proper terminology. As I stated earlier, it s not enough
just to pick up a couple of buzz words out of a trade magazine. When you are
talking to someone that lives and breaths their work, they ll know very quickly if you
really understand what you are talking about. Many times small departments use their
own taxonomy in dealing with a certain projects. Take the time to talk to those
departments and find out why they are referring to those items in that manner. It will
go a long way in gaining respect from your peers. Plus it could very well impress
those potential clients when they see how effectively the company communicates.
Lastly, keep it simple. Unfortunately people don t like reading when they don t have
to. Stick to the topic at hand. When you know the subject at hand quality beats out
quantity. Short, sweet and to the point never meant as much as it does today.
Back to the Basics:
Punctuation; make sure you know what you are doing. Believe it or not, there are
actually rules to punctuation. The correct punctuation will help set the appropriate
tone. Not to mention that it will help you from looking like a fool. I know it has
been a long time since we actually had a class on punctuation, so this should be a
welcomed refresher. Here are just some of the rules;
Rule: Use an apostrophe and an s to form the plural of an abbreviation that contains
periods.

The Girl from Everywhere Heidi Heilig I very thoroughly enjoyed reading this
novel. The story opens with Nixie and the Temptation in 1774 India carrying a two
Bengal tigers in bamboo cages. Nixie s father is determined to return to Honolulu,
1868. There is a map on offer at Christie s auction house and the tigers will give
him the cash to pay for the rare map. Slate is planning to sell the tigers to the leader
of a Chinese gang who uses them to kill his rivals in 1981 New York. They would
then travel to New York 2016 to the auction sale to get the map that would take them
to Honolulu 1868. Nixie has planned this route through the different time eras to see
as much as possible because she believes once her father returns to Honolulu 1868...

Auntie Joss seems to know who Nix is. She tells her that king has passed many
new laws since her father was last in Hawaii and not to ask her about her mother.
Auntie Joss tells Nix that her mother knew no one else on the island and that her
father promised to take her away from the opium den that Joss once operated.
Auntie Joss reveals to Nix that her name means nothing but spelled backwards is

means me and also not. She offers to tell Nix s future but she refuses. Auntie Joss
also reveals that her mother s number was 4 which means death and her father s
number was 7 which is the number for togetherness and ghosts. She also gives Nix
a small serpent in a jar and when Nix tells her she s looking for maps Auntie Joss

47. Why Did I Choose To Serve In Ww2
I would have preferred to serve in World War II. Since World War II was 21 years
after World War I many people knew what it was like to fight in a war. The soldiers
knew what it was like to fight in a war since some of them would have had
experience. They knew how to prevent certain things from happening and how to plan
attacks. They also had better fighting tactics and better conditions to fight in during
World WarII. The soldiers were able to create new fighting tactics using their
knowledge from World War I
. In the Italian Campaign they used mouse holding to
gain land. Mouse holding is a technique where the soldiers would bomb through the
walls of buildings to take out the opposing army. Mouse holding was used to prevent
fighting on
48. Government Surveillance Report
The part of Dr. Christ s lecture that remained in my mind was his input on the topic
of surveillance. In fact when he mentioned that google is able to track us, I
immediately opened my phone and shut down the ability for google to track my
location. My animation connects to Dr. Christ s lecture in the sphere of surveillance
while at first this doesn t seem to connect with my project I will show you why.
Notice when you were playing the game as you moved smug, the cat, the ball
followed. This is my way of showing governmentsurveillance. The ball reacting to
smug s movements serve as a metaphor for the way that the government is able to
track us via google, our phones and various other mechanisms. Also notice that you
can trick the ball into going away from smug. This trick is a metaphor for how
people can encrypt information and use the dark web to keep information away from
the government. Also the ability to trick the ball into going in the wrong direction
serves as a metaphor for how the government is a massive inept bureaucracy that

Representing the people and their information. The ball represents the government,
its ability to track information and how it keeps surveillance on people. The most
difficult part of the project was trying to figure out how to make the cat reset if it
came into contact with ball. Determining how to do this took the most time of my
entire project, about thirty minutes. For me the most fun part of the project was
actually playing the game. Specifically, I enjoyed tricking the ball into going into the
wrong direction thus making Smug s crossing much easier than it would have been
without tricking the
49. Absinthe History
Absinthe is a spirit flavored with sweet fennel, anise and many other culinary and
medicinal herbs. Most notably, absinthe uses flowers and leaves of the grand
wormwood plant.
THE HISTORY OF ABSINTHE
Egyptians used the absinth plant to treat various ailments. Romans and Greeks also
used it to create a potion that was steeped in wine and was rumored to heal stomach
bugs. (Wormwood=worm wode, or a cure for worms.)
During the seventeenth century, a Swiss man created the first spirit based absinthe.
In 1805, the first absinth factory was built in Pontarlier, France.
During the 1800s, the French military gave used absinthe to fight off malaria.
Soldiers, however, enjoyed the spirit and continued to drink it, even in times of peace.
In 1865, French vineyards were destroyed by a phylloxera infestation. As a result, the

After distilling, though, the absinthe would come out colorless instead of its normal
vibrant hue of green. To achieve its natural green hue, some distillers added green
coloring and sometimes blue coloring to the spirit. Now, some distilled absinthes are
sold clear, while others still sell with green color added in.
MACERATION
Maceration was the first method of production for absinthe. During the process,
herbs are macerated into a neutral alcoholic base, like grape or beet spirit. Each
herb macerates for a few weeks in various vats, and then the vats are blended
together. The result is a pure, natural green color, like the La Muse Verte. Because
maceration avoids using distillation, all the original flavors from plants and herbs are
intact and plentiful.
THE GREEN FAIRY
La Fee Verte translates in English to The Green Fairy. It was a French nickname for
their drink in the nineteenth century. More than 100 years later, absinthe and Green
Fairy are still used interchangeably by absinthe s
