1. Virtue Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of virtue can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies
in the broad and subjective nature of the concept itself. Virtue encompasses a wide range of
qualities and moral principles, making it a complex subject to navigate. Crafting an essay on
virtue requires a deep understanding of ethics, philosophy, and human behavior.
One challenge is defining virtue itself. Different cultures and philosophical traditions may have
varying perspectives on what constitutes virtuous behavior. Therefore, the writer must carefully
research and present a well-rounded view that considers diverse viewpoints.
Moreover, delving into the historical context of virtue and its evolution over time adds another
layer of complexity. From ancient philosophical discussions to modern ethical debates, tracing the
development of virtue requires thorough exploration and analysis.
Articulating a clear and coherent thesis on virtue demands careful thought and organization. The
writer must structure the essay to convey a logical progression of ideas, ensuring that the reader
can follow the argument without becoming lost in the intricacies of the subject matter.
Furthermore, providing concrete examples and real-life applications of virtue principles adds
depth to the essay. However, finding relevant and compelling illustrations requires in-depth
research and critical thinking.
In conclusion, writing an essay on virtue demands a combination of research, analytical skills,
and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. It is a task that necessitates a deep
understanding of ethics, philosophy, and human behavior, making it a challenging but
intellectually stimulating endeavor.

2. Steve Jobs Argumentative
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson is about the life of Steve Jobs and he came about
being as wealthy as he was. It all started in 1955 when he was born in San
Francisco and ended on October 5, 2011 in Palo Alto. Steve was well known for
his company Apple. He changed the world with technology. If it weren t for him
and his company, I don t think we would be as advanced and close with others as
we are now. He was very argumentative, but he enjoyed making the users happy
about the product. He was a jerk also, but it all turned out for the better for
everyone in the product. He was a very hard determined worker and believed in
only the best for the customers. I think he was kind hearted as well because of how
much he cared about the users. He deserves the credit of building an excellent
company and products.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Jobs wanted to go to Reed college and he knew his parents couldn t
afford it so he gave them an ultimatum that if they don t pay for it then he would
just not go to college. Another example would be when he had gotten Lisa
Brennan pregnant and his response was, I wasn t sure it was my kid, because i
was pretty sure I wasn t the only one she was sleeping with. In this incident, Jobs
argued that it was not his child until finally he matured and went and did a DNA
test and it was a match and then started paying child support. But for a while he
was sure that it wasn t his daughter. When it came to Apple, Jobs was also very
argumentative. On one occasion, Jobs started liking the idea of Apple stores and no
one else liked this idea because of the failure they have seen when another tech
company franchised and failed horribly. But, he argued the idea until they all agreed
to go along with his

The most important thing is that the fetus is a person and every person has a right

4. Hadestown Discourse
In the present political climate of fear, uncertainty, and division, the most important
form of resistance is continued defiance and unwavering hope that things can be
made better. In unstable times, governments often use rhetoric of unity and cohesion
to rally those who support their cause, while actively seeking to alienate anyone who
is viewed as other . The age old trope of building walls physically and ideologically is
used to spread distrust of differences and diversity. Through creating divisions,
unification can be achieved, however, the resulting unity hinges on the instability of
keeping other people out. During the current, increasingly unstable time, not falling
victim to panic and fear is one of the most important requirement... Show more

By repeating stanzas, Mitchell draws upon the fact that the Fates are representative
of Orpheus conscious rather than physical, actual women. Repetition, strengthens the
Fates words, and puts the thoughts more into the head of the audience and Orpheus
himself. The words of despair such as lose, waste, strain, and trouble, among others,
help make the message one of giving up all hope. By repeating that failure is the
only option, the Fates push their ideas in his head. Using leading questions and
responses, the Fates employ a similar tactic as Hades does in Why We Build the Wall
.
Putting the thoughts into people s heads in the forms of questions, the Fates turn over
the reasoning to the people who are listening to them, who begin to doubt themselves.
Although in mythology and this show, the Fates are real people, their symbolic
existence displays that doubt is a self fulfilling prophesy. This song is one which
examines the ways in which hopelessness can come from within, through self doubt
and consciousness, but can also be strengthened by external

Considering the fact that the airline industry is characterized by the presence of a
few carriers and many suppliers vying for business, it comes as no surprise that the
power of the suppliers is low and the airlines have the upper hand in their interactions
with the suppliers. Further, even in cases such as the supply of jet fuel, the carriers
like Virgin Atlantic have a distinct advantage, as this fuel is expensive and a premium
product meaning that there are not too many buyers for it making Virgin Atlantic a
favored customer for the aviation fuel companies.

There s a lot of talk about culture in organisations, and it seems to me a bit ethereal.
It s hard to describe, but a culture is very real. It s about the way we do things
around here and there really is a right or wrong Virgin Atlantic way to do things.
But you can only maintain any culture through hard work. We recognise that having
a meaningful dialogue with our people is vital to our culture and to the success of
the organisation but it is really very hard to do. It s easy to think about how a
manager can have a conversation with a team member and how that could lead to
improved success for the individual or team. We can help our managers to develop
the skills to have those conversations in an effective, authentic and Virgin Atlantic
way.
But it s also about having a dialogue
7. Blowin In The Wind Compare And Contrast
While being drastically different in content and musical aspects, Peter Paul and Mary
s Blowin in the Wind and Bob Dylan s Positively 4th Street hold surprising
similarities. Of course some stem from the fact that both songs were written by Dylan
himself, but others come simply as a result of production, composition, and overall
performance. Instrumentally, the songs differ greatly. Blowin in the Wind has a
simple acoustic instrumental that acts as the sole instrument in the song. In fact, the
tune played by the guitaris consistent throughout the song, and does not change other
than some slight loudenings and softenings for effect. As a result of this, the voices
of the singers guide the song. Contrastingly Positively 4th Street has a complex
instrumental played by a whole band. Specifically, it consists of a guitar so heavy
that it may as well be opposite to the guitar in Blowin in the Wind among a flurry of
other instruments including electric organ, piano, and a steady drum beat.
Additionally, each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The adoption of a band rather than performing alone or with a sole instrument as
Peter Paul and Mary did was highly symbolic of a new chapter in Dylan s career. His
introduction of electronic instruments was a break from his folk roots that many
found controversial, but that made his music more appealing to the general public.
Contrastingly, the acoustic stylings of Blowin in the Wind were less exciting, yet
still effective in gaining popularity. In truth, based on the lyrical content of Blowin in
the Wind, it is hard to imagine such a song being played with the pep and excitement

9. After Great Pain, A Formal Feeling Comes
Emily Dickinson effectively captures human suffering in its rawest form. In
comparison to her other works, Dickinson s After Great Pain, a Formal Feeling
Comes may be her most discomforting work. The piece is dismaying in that it forces
the reader to unwrap our darkest emotions: sadness, anguish, and anxiety. While other
poets speak of the joys of love or the finality of death, Dickinson unravels the
emotional wounds inflicted upon humanity by grief, heartache, and loss. In the piece,
Dickinson painstakingly takes the reader through the process of dealing with our
often ignored emotions.
The beginning of After a Great Pain features jarring iambic pentameter, After great
pain, a formal feeling comes (1) as well as strong alliterative f sounds that transform
the poem into a violently erratic hymn that is suddenly halted by the end stopped
line. In feeling formal , humans will still feel great pain yet attempt to hide their
pain. In the process of hiding our pain from others, the Nerves sit ceremonious like

According to Dickinson, the stiff Heart questions was it He that bore (3) And
yesterday, or centuries before? (4). The multiple s sounds and rhyming scheme add a
dismal singsong symphony to the last few lines of the stanza. The gloominess within
the first stanza is intensified as the heart wonders if such an immense pain existed
yesterday or centuries before. Similarly to a person who is grieving a loss, the heart
has lost all sense of time. A lack of awareness only prolongs the pain. Since
Dickinson s family practiced Calvinism (Emily Dickinson and the Church), she
probably wondered if Jesus Christ went through the emotional agony that can
decimate human tenacity, hence the capitalization of He in line three. After all,
Christ allows the numb soul to feel less lonely as Jesus suffered the most painful
ordeal of all, his

number of industrial and technological communities are rapidly adopting it.

Flooding attacks are also performed by hackers where they send numerous bogus
offers and request for help to a target machine rendering services blocked from
users trying to access them. The two types of attacks that would result from
flooding attack in cloud include direct DoS and indirect DoS. When a cloud server
receives a large volume of flooded requests, it will provide more computational
resources to cope with the malicious requests. The server then exhausts its full
capability and a direct DoS is occurred to all requests from users. However, the flood
attack could possibly cause indirect DoS to other servers in the same cloud when
the servers share the workload of the targeted server, which results a full lack of
availability on all of the services.
Cloud Security Attacks
Web based applications enable users to access application servers via web pages of
web browsers. Wrapping attacks and malware injection attack is one of the various
web based attacks where an attacker exploits the vulnerabilities in a web application
and attach malicious codes into it resulting to a variation in its proper execution.
Cloud computing systems are also susceptible to malware injection attacks. The
attacker develops a malicious program or application and inject them into target
cloud service model such as SaaS, PaaS or IaaS. Once the injection is successful, the
malicious module is executed as one of the valid instances running in the cloud; then,

Fathers, Sons and Hockey , by Roy MacGregor, is a short essay about the nature of
father son relationships in general and, more specifically, in hockey. MacGregor
asserts that, despite what may be true about other paternal relationships, in hockey the
father son relationship is reinforced through constant bonding and mutual support. In
order to understand precisely how MacGregor makes his case, it is necessary first to
explain his exploration of ideas put forth about father sonrelationships in general.
Second, the reader needs to understand his development of the idea that relationships
in hockey provide an exception to general perceptions about the distant nature of
father son interactions. Thirdly, one needs to be able to follow MacGregor s... Show

[MacGregor s arguments are faulty here; perhaps Disney does portray fathers

MacGregor also completely ignores the role of the mother, except to say that she

chauvinistic and unrealistic.] Many mothers perform the same duties as fathers,
negating the argument about hockey and its ability to foster father son relationships.
[Lastly, MacGregor uses anecdotal evidence, which, while illustrating his point,

13. Refugees And Human Rights Law
Refugee law is closely related to international human rights law, and some would
consider it to be a branch of human rights law.
Refugee law has been an important issue for countries everywhere. Refugees can
be seen as a burden to most countries prior to World War II when every state had
their borders open to home thousands. The first part of this paper will look at the
prime legislation available to refugees. The second part will focus more closely on
the relevant case law over time in regards to refugees and human rights.
Refugees are protected by two primary legislation at the international level, the first
being the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967
Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees. These two combined provided the
most protection for refuges but was only followed by countries who had signed
both at the time. This is of key importance as this effected how refugees were being
treated when they entered into nation states when fleeing for their safety. Refugees
by definition are victims of human rights violations . Under the 1951 Refugee
Convention a refugee is defined as to any person and owing to a well founded fear
of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a
particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality
and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of
that country .

14. The Land Registration Act 2002
The land registration act 2002 was aimed at implementing the compulsory recording
of titles in land, so as to retain the information in one piece, therefore making interest
in land simpler to identify. The authors took into consideration the fact that the land
register was rather fairly accurate, because despite the mirror principle that the
register is a reflection of title, this is not entirely true. In this essay I will show the
extent to which the land register is fairly accurate in its registering of titles. Land
registrationwas first operated under the Land registration act 1925. This was the first
act, which came into existence before it was repealed and replaced by the LRA 2002.

The act created a scheme for registration of most kinds of entitlement in land.
(To be referenced)The land registration act 2002 in its creation is to ensure that as
many interests in registered land as possible are shown on the register (or, if not
on the register, are not binding on purchasers and to make arrangements that will
allow dispositions of registered land to be handled electronically. The LRA 2002
came into existence and in effect replaced the previous act which was the LRA
1925. With the LRA 2002 came some modifications, which in effect made
registration of property faster and cheaper. It also ensured immediate recording of
transactions and constant updating of the register so as to avoid the late recording of
new owners of land.
Earlier I mentioned different grades of tittle, which would be awarded by the
registrar after the registration of a title. Going into greater coverage of these grades
of title, there is absolute freehold. The absolute freehold is granted a piece of land
when the registrar can see that the necessary information concerning the land is
provided. Information about the land can be easily explained to prospective
purchasers. However it has been stated that the registrar does not only have to grant
thus grade of title to only perfect land, but rather is allowed to overlook certain
information, therefore creating a method of prevention, which disallows future
purchasers from being disturbed with technical defects. This is the reason

The U.S. incarcerates 716 people for every 100,000 residents, more than any other
country. In fact, our rate of incarceration is more than five times higher than most of
the countries in the world, resulting in the United States of American having
incarceration rate far higher than any other country. The total number of prisoners
held under the jurisdiction of state and federal correctional authorities on December
31, 2015 (1,526,800) decreased by 35,500 (down more than 2%) from the previous
year. Researchers have studied different trends and causes of prisonovercrowding; one
that s prevalent is racial disparities towards minorities. Though African Americans
and Hispanics make up approximately 32% of the US population, they comprised
56% of all incarcerated people in 2015. African Americans and whites use drugs at
similar rates, but the imprisonment rate of African Americans for drug charges is
almost 6 times that of whites. Prison overcrowding is caused by several different of
issues, such as enough dorm room in prisons, crime rates changing rapidly,
amendments to laws and new improvements to law enforcement tactics.
Overcrowding in prisons causes many problems, which is why it is a serious
concern in the U.S. Once the causes of crowding have been established, researchers
can begin to address the problems it causes and deal with them. According to Vera.org

living in this environment loose some sort of food and become poisoned. For

CUSTOMER VALUE
Zeithaml (1988, as cited in Smith Colgate, 2007, p. 8) defined customer value as
being what customers get from the purchase and use of a product versus what they
pay. According to Drucker (1999), customer value determines what the business will
produce and whether it will prosper or not. Clearly, customers will prefer to consume
the product that offers them most benefits with least costs possible.
Based on their researches, Smith and Colgate (2007) proposed four major values of
customer that applicable to consumer and to customer value creation strategy.
According to Smith and Colgate (2007), functional value is concerned about the
purpose and usefulness of a product. Experiential value is concerned with the
customers feelings created by the product whereas symbolic value is concerned about
the psychological meaning of a product to customers. On the other hand, cost is
related to the both direct and indirect costs of using the product.
The following table shows customer value creation strategy with Village Gold Class
Cinema as the example.

Douglas Light said that our imagination is better than any answer to a question.
Light distinguished between two genres: fantasy from fiction. He described how
fantasy stimulates one s imagination, which is more appealing, but fiction can just
be a relatable story. In the same way, Books and movies are very different entities.
In the short parable Doubt, the readers are lured in to the possibility of a scandalous
relationship between a pastor and an alter boy. The readers curiosity is ignited
because they are not given all the details. Therefore, their mind wanders further than
the plot to create a story and characters that acted on one s imagination; thus, the story

In fact, all the details within the play stimulated one s imagination to create something
that was never stated in writing. In no part of the play does it outright say that Father
Flynn had any encounter with the alter boys other than during basketball practice and
his apparent close friendship with Donald Muller. Yet, through the readers
imagination, they assume scandalous scenarios between the Donald Muller and
Father Flynn while still curious about what the truth is. The viewer was in constant
doubt, of both characters intentions and motives. The parable is filled with indirect
notions, assumptions, and gossiping. So why is this specific parable so entertaining?
Its simple the reader used their imagination to piece together a relationship that at
multiple times in the play cause them to doubt their own beliefs and consider the
opposing possibilities. The play let you feel everything, know everything and live
vicariously through the characters. With the play, you can Sister Aloysius, Father
Flynn, or even Donald Muller; however, with the movie you are merely an observer.
Books allow you to make up parts of the story(visuals and what people are like) while
movies are more direct telling you what to see.

The Science of Radiocarbon Dating
When we think of history, we think of important people, places, cultures, events,
and much more. The backbone of history rests on its chronology. It gives us the
when of basic analysis. It gives us a frame of reference, the order of things. Before
having an absolute way of determining dates, history was based in guesses and
assumptions. Many attempts were made to organize the dates of the past. Some of
these attempts were made by geologist. Geologist used the idea of stratigraphic
succession (Renfrew, 1973) which is based on the principle that when successive
layers or strata are observed in position, the underlying ones are the earliest. (Pg. 23

This changed history forever. While it created controversy, due to some people s
attachments to the old ways of dating and doubts in this revolutionary method, it
proved to be the closest method to have an accurate chronology of history. In 1955,
to prove the accuracy or radiocarbon, Libby published a graph that showed the
comparison of the results of radiocarbon dating of specimens from Egypt. These
specimens had already an absolute known date. The graph proved the accuracy of
Libby s radiocarbon dating. Figure 1 (Renfrew, 1973)
Libby developed the method of radiocarbon dating though his observation of how
cosmic rays create radiocarbon. From outer space cosmic rays infiltrate earth s
atmosphere. In the upper atmosphere, these rays hit nitrogen and oxygen atoms in the
air. (Renfrew, 1973). When the neutrons of these high energy particles (mostly
protons) hit nitrogen atoms, Carbon 14 (C 14) is created. The nitrogen atom (atomic
number 7) has an atomic mass of 14 (with 7 protons and 7 neutrons). When the
nucleus of the nitrogen is hit by the cosmic ray s neutrons, the atomic number of
the atom decreases by one. The make up of its atomic mass changes, a proton is
emitted and the neutrons are increased by one; therefore, the atomic mass number
stays the same. Because the atomic number has changed, a new element, carbon 14,
with atomic number 6, has an atomic mass of 14 (with 6 protons and 8 neutrons).

23. An Article On The World Anti Doping Agency
On June 9th, 2016, an article written by ESPN Senior Writer, Darren Rovell, was
published on ESPN.com regarding Maria Sharapova s two year suspension over a
positive doping test result (Rovell, 2016). Maria Sharapova, the highest paid female
athlete today, announced in March 2016 that she tested positive for taking
meldonium, a banned substance that was recently added to the World Anti Doping
Agency s (WADA) prohibited substance list. Initially, the International Tennis
Federation(ITF) suspended Sharapova for two years but after an appeal to the Court
of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) by the Sharapova team, the Russian tennisstar s
suspension was reduced to 15 months and she can return to competition in April
2017. Meldonium is a heart drug that is available for purchase over the counter in
Russia. This drug is believed to help the body produce energy in a more efficient
manner. Sharapova was unintentionally committing a doping violation, which is the
ethical issue in this situation. She had been taking meldonium since 2006 to help her
manage multiple health problems. Sharapova however, was not the only athlete that
tested positive for meldonium. There were around 172 athletes in total, 40 whom
were Russian that also failed a drug test for taking meldonium. This affected Russia s
attendance in the Rio Olympic Games as a number of athletes were banned from
participating in the Games for their meldonium intake. Sharapova s ethical orientation
affects her behaviour and the

The Neurological and Behavioral Changes Associated with Learning Music as a Child
Some would argue that humans are intrinsically wired to produce music. As an
infant, the sounds children make while learning language mimic the tonal shape of
language. Parents also tend to use exaggerated highs and lows in their voices much
like a simple melody to prepare and help develop the infant s capacity to learn
language. It has also been found that the neural networks used in language acquisition
are very similar to those used in music acquisition (Mithen 2006). Language
acquisition and development is imperative for an individual to survive, and if training
the brain with music can strengthen those networks, this is a subject of great
importance. Since the 1940s doctors have recognized the impacts of music on the
behavior of patients with mental disabilities, and from this discovery, the effects of
music on a regular developing brain became a subject of great interest. Researchers
recognized that there was potentially an opportunity to increase brain development in
children resulting in discernable enhancements of skills into adulthood (Reschke
Hernandez, 2011). It is now known that childhood music education improves skills
required for playing music, namely motor functioning, auditory discrimination, and
long and short term recall. These skills, learned through music instruction, transfer to
non musical skills such as verbal

In 2006, Franscesc Lloret et al. employed unimodal and bimodal silica based
mesoporous materials as support hosts for octanuclear Ni(II) oxamate complex44
of formula {[Ni2(mpba)3][Ni(dpt)H2O)]6}(ClO4)4В·12.5H2O}, (Ni8) with mpba =

moderately anisotropic (S = 4) ground spin state (D = 0.23 cm 1) and exhibits slow
magnetic relaxation below TB = 3.0 K in the crystalline state. The mesoporous silicas
MCM 41, UVM 7 and UVM 11 were investigated to incorporate Ni8 SMMs. The
unimodal silica MCM 41 has small pores of 2.8 nm diameter while UVM 7 has

In stark contrast, MCM 41 and UVM 7 show much different magnetic properties
after successful incorporation into the silica pores. Notably, the П‡MT term for
both silicas is higher than expected for magnetically isolated Ni8 molecules (such
as those in UVM 11) which supports the presence of repeating Ni8 units forming
[Ni8]x aggregates. П‡MT also reaches a maximum at a range of 3 10 K, in contrast
to the Tmax = 3 K of the SMM alone where Tmax generally increases with increasing
loading amount. This behavior can be rationalized due to magnetic anisotropy and/or
antiferromagnetic interactions between aggregates. A proposed mechanism consists
of Ni8 SMMs filling the silica pores and consequent aggregation which is mediated
by deprotonated silanol groups present on the pores (Fig. 4). In turn [Ni8]x
aggregates, joined by Ni O Ni bonds interact in a ferromagnetic manner which allows
for the Ni8 monomers to undergo magnetic exchange interactions. This mechanism
holds up to a point, a 100% loading amount results in packing which imposes a steric
strain on the filamentous [Ni8]x and pushes the Ni O Ni angle towards a higher
value, prompting antiferromagnetic interactions leading to a decrease in magnetic
susceptibility. AC magnetic measurements were used to verify the retention of
SMMs characteristics within the

Sexualization of females has always been a problem. Many of the commercials

called Es Mila, and it is located in an island called Minorca, in Spain.
Firstly, a description of this wind farm and the energy and electricity in Minorca is
made. Then, with meteorological and power data of 2007 a thorough study of its
performance is completed. In this study, rst of all some meteorological aspects like
wind direction, wind velocity and its distribution are discussed.
After that, the study focuses on electricity production, looking at the power curve, at
the expected and the real production, and trying to explain a little of the reactive

A database is a structured collection of records or data that is stored in a computer
system. In order for a database to be truly functional, it must not only store large
amounts of record, but also be able to access those records fast and efficiently. In
addition, new information and changes should also be easy to input. (tech

When I hear the name Owen Wilson, I think of some of the most wretched,
distasteful movies ever produced ranging from Shanghai Noon and Hall Pass to
Starsky Hutch and Drillbit Taylor. Honestly, sometimes I can t figure out how he
remains active in Hollywood given the fact that his portrayals often walk a path
similar to the haphazard career of Eddie Murphy who hasn t been in the relevant in
a long, long time. However, if Owen Wilson continues to take on future roles similar

fortune awaiting him at the end of the proverbial rainbow. And, it would also help his
cause quite excessively in he attempted to steer clear of ridiculous comedies. Just

To date, Bell has not undertaken such a visibly strenuous endeavor (though a case
can be made for Black Rock), but she like Wilson, proves she s entirely up to the
task. For the vast majority of the film, though, Bell s character simply appears to be
along for the ride protecting the kids at all cost, but in the end, Annie Dwyer is more
pivotal than you could possibly imagine. While Wilson and Bell are the screen
dominant stars, Pierce Brosnan is surprisingly reduced to a disappointing supporting
role. Marketing posters and trailers tend to point to the opposite, thus making it an
unwelcoming surprise to notice he s rarely involved. Sure, the former James Bond
star rears up here and there when situations get hairy, but it s admittedly disappointing
that he s not next to the family throughout their nerve wracking journey. On the
plotline front, dramatized thrillers of this style are not uncommon with closely

similar avenues. Nevertheless, No Escape is thrilling and nail biting enough with its
steady, fluent progression to suck in audiences early, never to let go utilizing a
plethora of edge of your seat moments to fuel the fire (so to

Here in this topic an issue arises that why we do compare and compare the political
systems of the different regions, states, and countries and as well as domestic politics.
To answer the bigger question what is politics and political systems. Politics mean
the activities associated are attached with the governance of a country or area
especially the debate between parties or regimes having power. Politics is also to
struggle to gain power to rule and govern governments. On the other hand
governments have access to resources and powers to rule over people and as well as
empower people through the majority winning political party who wins to rule and

Some philosophers consider politics it forces for good while others take it as force
for evil. In seventeenth and eighteenth century were the opinions that if no

A More Enlightened Contemporary Society What is Enlightenment?, an explication
that was written in 1784 in Prussia by the philosopher Immanuel Kant, discusses the
principles that he deems to be truths surrounding significant topics such as freedom,
reason, and an individual s and/or societal necessity to be fully mature, in terms that
he described as being scholar. Here, what is most evident is the reality that while he
perceived the society as being unprepared to be fully mature, he nevertheless held
faith on his belief that an age is fast approaching when societies will truly exhibit
advances that will benefit them not only in political terms, but more so in their
spiritual beliefs. As such, the importance of this particular literary... Show more

As such, several were of universal relevance, in that the realities of these teachings
are able to withstand time. One of those is the truth in his claim that an individual
who only teaches under a system that has been in existence for long periods of
time, and of which he merely voices out the thoughts of his superiors, is inherently
possessing a limited form of freedom. This can be proven by one of his cases,
which is the priest, wherein his authority is understandably inferior to that of the
entire organization, whereby the principles that he is able to preach must follow
the pattern that has already been sturdily set. Another aspect that makes for a
strong argument in his work can be evidenced in his prescribed motto of
enlightenment, which is to Have courage to use your own understanding (Kant 1).
As such, any individual who lacks the bravery to be independent in his decisions
and who has learned the habit of relying on others to do the thinking for him will
most assuredly find it difficult to attain maturity, in the intellectual and emotional
aspect. Despite of the excellence and relevance of Kant s work, I tend to perceive
several arguments as weak points. One of those is his seeming generalization of
religious people as being possessing of a private type of reason. In my own
viewpoint, this may prove to be a fallacy, as what can be evidenced in the
proliferation and the different denominations of

36. Maggie A Girl Of The Streets Essay
Can one escape the slums and rise to riches? Is it possible for just anyone to live
the American Dream? In Stephen Crane s Maggie, A Girl of the Streets, Crane
clearly disagrees with the statement above. He believes that a person s life is going
to follow the same path as his or her parents. This means that those people are
products of their own environment. Crane portrays this belief by describing the lives
of Maggie, Jimmie, and Ms. Johnson in order to exemplify this concept. In Stephen
Cranes Maggie, A Girl of the Streets, Crane shows that people are products of their
own environment in order to prove that they cannot escape their surroundings.

Johnson, the mother of Maggie and Jimmie, is another example of someone who
is a product of their own environment. Ms. Johnson is the complete opposite of an
ideal mother. She is an alcoholic and has no regard for her children. Distinctly this
is seen when Crane states The mother s massive shoulders heaved with anger.
Grasping the urchin by the neck and shoulder she shook him until he rattled (Crane
8). The urchin, whom she is grabbing, is her own son Jimmie. This shows that she
does not even care for her own kids. When Ms. Johnson is being too abusive for
Maggie and Jimmie to handle, they go to the old lady in order to keep safe from
their mother. Also, Ms. Johnson rejects to take in Maggie when she is wandering
the streets. When Ms. Johnson fins out the Maggie is dead, she weeps for her
daughter. This is moral hypocrisy because she is trying to express her morality
when she has no morals. But Ms. Johnson cannot act any different. She is trapped in
a living hell, also known as the Bowery. The way she acts reflects her surroundings,
which makes her a product of her own
37. Emerson s Essay On Truth And Lies In A Non-Moral Sense
Ralph Waldo Emerson s essay, Nature further examines the ideas of truth and
concepts introduced by Friedrich Nietzsche in On Truth and Lies in a Non Moral
Sense. Nietzsche interpretations of the truths of the universe and the language we use
to enforce those truths were wrong. Nietzsche, like Emerson, believed we had to
conceive our own knowledgeand truthin the universe, however, he did not introduce
how to go about doing so. Emerson, furthers Nietzsche s theory on truth and
concepts into his own theory on Nature and proposes knowledge on how to go
about seeking these truths for yourself. Nietzsche s theory of truth states that truth
in itself is a metaphor. Nietzsche was the opposite of Emerson because he had an
existentialist view on the world. Whereas, Emerson believed there was a god and
that he performed great miracles, giving him a transcendentalist view on the
world. Nietzsche titles his essay, On Truth and Lies in a Non moral Sense, because
we receive our morals from our religious beliefs, but since he did not believe in a
god, that highlights even further his dismay with truths in our language. We are
told these concepts that we tell ourselves and convince ourselves are true, just to
develop a logical sense of truth in our society. He believed we all formed these
concepts or categories in where we group individual objects together to make sense
of them. Nietzsche states in, On Truth and Lies in a Non moral Sense, Just as it is

Creation myths paint a picture for the confused and answer question for the curious

The consumption of sweetened beverages, refined foods, and pastries has been

Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person s
thoughts, behavior, feelings and sense of well being. People with depressed mood
can feel sad, anxious, empty, hopeless, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable,
ashamed or restless. They may lose interest in activities that were once pleasurable,
experience loss of appetite or overeating, have problems concentrating,
remembering details or making decisions, and may contemplate, attempt or
commit suicide. Insomnia, excessive sleeping, fatigue, aches, pains, digestive
problems or reduced energy may also be present. Depressed mood is a feature of
some psychiatric syndromes such as major depressive disorder, but it may also be a
normal reaction to life events such as grief, a symptom of some bodily ailments or a
side effect of some drugs and medical treatments.
In this review I will talk about high glycemic index
41. The Star Wars Film On The Vietnam War
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... This was the beginning of the first film
of one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. Not only did the films
eventually lead to a gross of over $27 billion between the box office, DVDs, toys,
video games, etc, but it also influenced America and the rest of the world. (Forbes)
The Star Warsfilms show similarities to various aspects of history and American
society. It has been proven that George Lucas wrote the movies based on The
Vietnam War, with aspects of other American events. It is evident that these
aspects have had a major influence on the concept of War in America after the
release and success of the Star Wars movies. This will be investigated by analyzing
the movies, critical reviews, and other texts relating to the subject. Star Wars was
originally released in 1977 and became one of the largest grossing films of all time.
George Lucas developed two additional sequels and a prequel that developed the
extremely successful franchise. The first film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
placed the viewers into the middle of a civil war between The Republic and The
Empire. The story follows a young JediKnight (Luke Skywalker) and his journey to
defeat (with a lot of help) The Empire. As the story progresses through the the next
movie, more characters are introduced and Luke becomes closer and closer to
completing his destiny of defeating the Empire. This is done through futuristic battles

42. Compare Contrast Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano
Essay
There are various things that make up a piece of literature. For example: choice of
diction, modes of discourse, and figurative language. Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah
Equiano were great examples of authors that used these elements of literature. There
are similarities and differences in A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of
Mrs. Mary Rowlandsonand From Africa to America. Though Mary Rowlandson and
Olaudah Equianoshared similarities in experiences, they had different writing
personalities, purposes, attitudes, tones, and relations with their communities. There
are four main modes of discourse: expository, narrative, descriptive, and persuasive.

Both narratives are similar in the experiences the two authors possessed. Both
Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano were held captive at a time in their lives.
White men captured Olaudah Equiano, while Mary Rowlandson had Indian
captivators. Olaudah s story tells of the time where he first saw the slave ship he
was put on and the journey across great waters to the new world. Rowlandson s
story tells of the apathy of the Indians and her stay with the tribe. It is apparent that
the journey across the sea was horrible enough for the ship s passengers to commit
suicide by jumping off of the ship rather than staying on board with the putrid
smell of human wastes and lack of ventilation. In a brief paragraph, Equiano wrote
of his daily routine before his captivity. He mentioned the relationship he had with
his mother, and how he was her favorite child. I became, of course, the greatest
favorite with my mother and was always with her. (72) Olaudah and Mary were
alike because Olaudah had a great relationship with his mother while Mary was
fond of her own child in her narrative. About two hours in the night, my sweet babe
like a lamb departed this life; I must and could lie down next to my dead babe, side
by side all the night after. (2) Neither Olaudah Equiano nor Mary Rowlandson ended
their stories with the family members they were most fond of. Equiano s captivity
was the reason why he was stripped from his mother while Rowlandson s baby died
during her
43. Essay about Legislation against Pit Bulls and Owners in...
If you re a pit bull owner in Sioux City, Iowa, you are faced with certain ordinances
that make it more difficult to own and keep your dog. This is Sioux City s attempt
to keep its citizens safe and prevent the abuse and harm of the pitbull. The city is
trying to promote safety and animal advocacy. This ordinance is not effective
because it punishes the animal and not the owner; it also does not take into account
the animals individual personality. Legislators should create laws that consider all
dogs based on their individual behavior and hold owner accountable for their
animals. These types of ordinances are referred to Breed Specific Legislation or
BSL. When lawmakers impose BSL on communities they are singling out specific...

Some of these dogs are so similar in appearance not even the experienced eye can
tell them apart. Those that support BSL believe that dangerous dogs are dangerous
because of its breed and physical characteristics and not its individual behavior.
Furthermore, any animal that has the general characteristics of a pit bull type dog is
considered to be a pit bull as well according to Sioux City s law (Sioux City Animal
Control). Not only is a dog deemed dangerous just because of its breed, it is also
dangerous due to its appearance. This creates controversy because the dogs are
classified as dangerous and subjected to following Sioux City s BSL without having
a chance to prove themselves otherwise. These dogs are considered guilty without
the chance to prove themselves innocent. Responsible owners have followed the
laws that Sioux City has passed. They have been willing to jump through hoops to
do whatever it takes to keep their beloved dog in their home. On the other hand,
irresponsible dog owners have taken a much more careless approach to breed specific
legislation. Often times, irresponsible dog owners do not care about the overall well
being of their dog. To these people, instead of doing whatever it takes to keep their
pet, they simply surrender the dog to a shelter when the going gets tough. Sioux City
officials often exercise their right to euthanize these dogs. Section 7.10 of the

44. Similarities Between Iron Man And Spider-Man
To start, the superheroes, Iron Man and Spider Man, have two very contrasting
origin stories. In Iron Man, Tony Stark first becomes Iron Man as a way to escape
captivity from the Ten Ring terrorists. After being injured from a bomb in
Afghanistan, Stark is taken hostage with pieces of shrapnel in his chest (Iron Man).
Ho Yinsen, another captive, manages to keep Stark alive by imbedding an
electromagnet, which prevents the shrapnel from reaching his heart, into his chest
and attaching it to a car battery (Iron Man). Stark constructs a small version of an
arc reactor that is able to power his electromagnet, which also powers the super suit
that he designs as a way to free Ho Yinsen and himself from the terrorist group (Iron
Man). Seeing that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both superheroes are very intelligent, but in two contrasting manners. Stark, born a
child prodigy who built a circuit board when he was four years old, an engine at
age six, and graduated summa cum laude from MIT when he was seventeen, has
almost a genius level of intelligence (Iron Man). Parker, still in high school, is a
member of the academic team, as well as considered a nerd by the shirts he wears
(Spider Man: Homecoming). What they both have in common is that they are
innovative. Stark creates his original suit out of the materials he has in captivity
(Iron Man). He can create almost anything he desires, as well as come up with
clever solutions on the spot to outwit the villains. Parker tinkers and builds things.
He creates his own Spider Man suit, complete with goggles and web shooters, as
well as the web fluid that he uses (Spider Man: Homecoming). He is able to think
on the spot about ways to problem solve, such as leaping around the police choppers
to break the window in the Washington Monument scene, as well as using his webs to
reconnect and stabilize the Staten Island Ferry in the Ferry scene (Spider Man:
Homecoming). The ways that these superheroes can use their intelligence to innovate
help them become a stronger superhero, so they can use their powers for

Summary: Green belt land refers to the land that is reserved for an open space,
often around large cities. The purpose of a greenbelt area is to protect the land
around large urban areas from urbanisation and remain reserved for forestry,
agriculture and providing habitats to wildlife. By preventing urbanisation in this area
it allows for the protection of agriculture. Greenbelt areas are beneficial to both rural
and urban areas. Greenbelt areas not only provide forestry and agricultural activities
for the rural population but on the other hand provide fresh air and outdoor activities
for the urban population.

49. Independence Day Ideology
Independence Day is an interesting film that is full of cohesive visual political
and cultural meanings that represent the United States of America. Through its
major genres of war and disaster its able to attract all categories of audience and
bring out the true colours to the world that USA is composed off. This paper
through these two common cinematic genres will reveal an interesting set of
political ideologies that most Americans represent and pursue when approaching
the people and countries that live in this world. Politics plays a heavy role in the
lives of American people and is itself a well established subject and industry that
the country relies on for good functioning and staying a world leader. However,
there seem to be many problems with the ideology they follow which leads to ruin
of their infrastructure and the lives of people who live in other countries and those
problems can be discovered in the film Independence Day. One of the main problems
in the American political system that is shown with in the film when approaching a
complicated case is being unintelligent and aggressive at the same time. An example
of this political weakness is in the scene when the American military attacks the alien
battleship only to discover that their destructive weapons were neutralized by their
forcefield which eventually leads to death of their soldiers. From the very beginning
when they arrive the main government is able to know from the first look of their
ship that that
50. The Need For Rationing Increasingly Scarce Health Care...
Introduction This paper addresses the issues surrounding the need for rationing
increasingly scarce health care resources. There has been much debate over the
questions of how best to provide quality health care coverage, which services are
necessary and which are optional, and how to pay for it all. Although there does
not seem to be a consensus on how best to distribute health care services, the
growing demand for coverage and current expectations of the public make
addressing the situation increasingly more pressing. Examples from the key health
care areas of organ transplantation, reproductive technology, and geriatric costs are
briefly analyzed and placed in the larger context of the overall scarcity of health
care resources in order to illustrate the rationing dilemmas facing health care. This
issue will become more pressing as the realization takes hold that health care costs
are increasingly out stripping society s ability to pay for those costs. Not every
patient is given the most beneficial treatment. For such an individual, the
consequences can be sometimes tragic and the notion of pricing life is
controversial. Because of this fact, decisions involving rationing of health care
resources raises the question: How do we treat a person with dignity and respect, an
individual who is left behind by an effectual policy for society generally (Menzel,
1990)? Rationing Examples: A Review of the Literature In triage circumstances, as in
a mass trauma incident,

55. The Education Of Schools And Schools Essay
Many schools in America are divided by cities and districts which locks in certain
students for specific schools. Some of these schools are well provided, and others
are not due to the income of that district which the students live in. These borders
for schools causes a problem in which certain educational tools and experience are
restricted for those individuals who have a low income. The inadequate funding of
schools for certain districts throughout Americahave been a problematic
enforcement of disparity. This continues to promote the ideas of racism,
segregation, and social class by isolating schools based off the income and having
certain limitations due to ethnicity. In order to change the things for the better, we
must bring awareness to this problem and work towards equal funding of schools.
Mickelson and Smith state There is a strong relationship between race and social
class, and racial isolation is often an outgrowth of residential segregation and
socioeconomic background (Mickelson and smith 2011) Schools are one of the
foundations in which society is formed through thegain of knowledge and
experience. If we are simply segregating the distribution of certain knowledge due to
the income of a person, we are restricting the right for a person to obtain equal
knowledge. With the educationsystem being constricted due to the income of the
student s family, they are unable to fulfill their grasp of knowledge in comparison to
the schools of a wealthier district.
56. The Dichotomy Of Religion In Yann Martel s Pi
As I mature into a young adult, my thoughts and feelings about certain topics have
changed. One of those topics is religion. I started out as a very devout Christian
when I was younger, but as I got older I began to disagree with a lot of the things I
followed. Over time, I stopped liking Christianity altogether and only believed that
people followed it because it gave them a higher moral ground above everyone else.
However, Yann Martel s novel gave me the epiphany that religionmeant so much
more than this.
For example, in the novel, Pi drifts upon an island with the tiger, Richard Parker.
Richard Parker goes to do his own thing while Pi eats the algae and is
overwhelmed with euphoria (as he had been on the sea for quite some time). He
doesn t stop to think about how everything worked on the island and just took in
everything it had to offer. This symbolizes how some followers of religion don t
think logically about how life works or even about their own religion and go with it.
In my case, for Christianity, I realized why so many people didn t stop to think about
why some illogical things happened in the Bible. They simply don t care and are
happy with what Christianity had to offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The small mammals do not even hesitate to move, and a few even jump up and
down as if they were saying My turn! My turn! Pi perceives this as that the
meerkats were not fazed by anything, not even death. This symbolizes how
followers of religion follow it so closely that nothing scares them. Here, I realized
why some Christians are not afraid of death or why Christians tend to live happy
lives. They aren t afraid of death because if they are morally right in life, such as not
doing drugs or following the Golden Rule , then they will get a wonderful afterlife.
Although Christianity is not a perfect religion, it causes people to lead happy and/or
peaceful lives without even realizing
