Effectiveness Of Stylistics On The Reader. Stylistics Are
Effectiveness of Stylistics on the Reader Stylistics are used in writing to set various pieces of literature
apart, while also determining the effectiveness said literature has on the reader. The novels Such is My
Beloved and By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept both involve the concepts of sex and
religion, but are each enjoyed by different groups of readers, Factors that highlight these differences
include the point of view which story is told from, the word choice by the author, and the style the
novel is written with. Such is My Beloved is enjoyed by more readers due to its following of a
traditional form of writing, use of simplistic direct language, and a higher use of personal words and
sentences than found in By Grand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is apparent in the scene where the main character is being questioned at the border and a guard
states, Better not try any funny business...you re only making this tough on yourself. (Smart, 48)
Instead of responding to the guard, she answers in her mind which only the reader can comprehend
stating, Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. (Smart, 48)This shifting mental state of the main
character is quite unique while also creating a need for a higher degree of focus by the audience to
stay on track with the plot.
The dictation used in Such is my Beloved is quite simplistic solidifying further the ease of read the
story has. Callaghan uses short, concise sentences to move the story forward while providing the
reader with a well detailed recounting of events. The passage examined in this paper captures the
dialogue heavy nature of the story and some of the more heavy narrative portions the story has to
offer. An interesting point is that 32% of the words found on pages 121 122 contain the same fifteen
words. (Chart 1) The word choice by Callaghan was rated by The Reading Level Skill algorithm to be
at a 11 12 grade level. (wordcounter.net) This solidifies an argument that this story is written to reach
many people as it uses a less advanced dictionary than many other works.
Surprisingly similar in dictation to Callaghan s passage is the entry from By Grand Central Station I
Sat Down and Wept, which although written

Cell Membrane Permeability
Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as oxygen,
carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across the
membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the membrane.
Membrane structure
The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events of
the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of the
cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid bilayer,
and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar
hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in these
structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids with
saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This leads to
a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit packing and
result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the phospholipid
bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher temperatures the
cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures they allow for
flexibility.

Worm Hole Attack Essay
Figure 3: Worm hole attack
E. Motivation and Problem Formulation
Application of game theoretic approach to individual nodes distributes the responsibility of security to
all the nodes in the network thus reducing the loop holes in the security. The Game Theory approach
explored in recent times addressing security issues in MANET focuses mostly on networks having
central administration involving only 2 players i.e. attacker and defender. We propose a novel game
theoretic approach with multiple players for security in MANETs.
In a distributed environment there is no central administration and hence each node has to defend
himself from the attacks. We propose a dynamic mean field game theoretic approach to enable an
individual node in MANETs to make strategic security defense decisions without centralized
administration. In the proposed mean field game theoretic approach, each node only needs to know its
own state information and the aggregate effect of the other nodes in the MANET[2], making nodes
self reliable against attacks. Enhancing Security in Mobile Ad Hoc Network.

Findley Mentioned The Binoculars
Page 165 Structure The time is written with a period rather than a colon. I found this odd as I had
never seen this before. Ex. 11.55 rather than 11:55. I wonder if this is done intentionally, a change in
punctuation over time, or a stylistic choice. Rhetoric A French word is used in the middle of a
sentence: reveille which means to wake up (Findley 165). Is this done to refer to the setting in France?
Question Robert mentions that he had left his binoculars in his kit bag. I wonder if this is a conscious
decision to keep that part in the text. Immediately, it had reminded me of the German soldier as he too
was seen with the binoculars. Is it a coincidence that Findley mentioned the binoculars among other
things? Page 166 Animals/Question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wonder if this is a foreshadow to Robert s death in the future. We know that Robert will die by
committing an act of compassion. Can we predict that he will die saving animals? Sanctity of
Life/Question The big question about whether life is worth preserving is indirectly asked when Devlin
is shot for letting the horses free. Is it better to keep them in the stable where they will later be forced
into war or let them run around free on a battlefield? Quotation/Madness Captain Leather had killed
one of his own men. In a way, this brings up a different concept of killing one of his own men rather
than the enemy. Either way, he murdered another being. I thought about this and wondered what
Captain Leather will be remembered for when he dies. As Euripides had said, Never that which is
shall die, so will Leather be seen as a dutiful captain that was doing his duty, or a traitor for killing one
of his own? I feel this could also be alarge indication of Leather s insanity that has been caused by the
war. He is perhaps so insane that he felt justified in his actions by killing Devlin over the matter of the
horses. Page

The Impact Of Environmental Issues On The Environment
In today s society, the environment is constantly being poorly affected by humans and their actions.
Environmental issues are defined as problems that the planet s systems face due to humans not
treating the Earth properly. These issues can occur from simple actions such as someone throwing
their trash on the ground, people overpopulating an area, or even someone driving their car. The
importance of this essay is to address these many issues that the Earth is facing along with explaining
how we can put an end to these problems. The issues that the planet s systems are facing, are social
problems because humans are being negatively affected by them. Imus (2014), states Recent studies
have linked pollution exposure to asthma, autism, heart disease, cancer, schizophrenia, migraines, and
more (p. 1). Humans are polluting the Earth, which is killing our environment and causing themselves
to get sick as well. In our society, the Earth is being treated very poorly. King (2013), states 1.9 billion
tons of litter ends up in the ocean every year (p. 1). Whenever people throw trash on the ground, 80
percent of it is carried by runoff; meaning that the trash is transported to the ocean by waterways.
After the trash is transported into the ocean, sea creatures are put in danger. According to the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 64 percent of lakes and 30 percent of bay and estuarine
areas are not clean enough for fishing and swimming (Bradford,

Flannery O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge
Flannery O Connor is a Georgian writer that is mainly known for her short writings about southern life
and religion. She (uses local color in her writings that make her style unique during that time) wrote
many short stories which in everyone of them she made perfectly her point across. Most of her stories
included a religious theme because she was Catholic, and she wanted to express her spiritual thoughts
on her writings. One of her famous story Everything That Rises Must Converge , O Connor illustrates
perfectly the ways of living in the rural south and the how social integration changed everything.
During this story, one character during does not change until the end of the story, which is typical on
O Connor writings. O Connor is a type of writer that who inlikes to add a surprising ending. In
addition, another story called The Displaced Person , she uses the same technique to express that part
of the south were she was born. O Connor is very good at using local color since she knows exactly
how people acted, thought, and talked because she was raised in the south. There are common motifs
among O Connor s stories. For example, she uses the sky as a sign of God calling someone, and
racism plays an important part of her stories since the time she is writing is when blacks and whites
got integrated.. O Connor style of writing is common in her stories. ... Show more content on

What Is The Mooncake Festival Essay
I arise my head to gaze at the bright moon, and I droop my head to think of my old sod. The poet Li
Bai s poignant lines describe the grief of one incompetent to return home for Mid Autumn
festival. From here we can seen that the Mid Autumn celebration is one of the most significant part of
the Chinese cultural heritage. This festival is known in Malaysia as the Mooncake festival due to the
popular practice of buying and eating mooncakes. As it is connected with paper lanterns, it is also
called the Lantern Festival. Mooncake festival take place on the 15th day of the 8th month in the

My Favorite Music Essay
I was raised around many types of music, and I have heard many different songs. However, there is
one music group that I have listened to off and on for a very long time. This group is Blue October,
and I have listened to them since I was six years old when my mother first introduced me. The music
from Blue October is ever changing and has been linear to my ever changing life. I love the music that
they make because it is real and alive. I look for sincear songs; Blue October meets this expectation
that I have. The song Into The Ocean is the first song that I had ever heard by them. I remember the
first time I had ever hear that song was on my moms CD plater when her and my dad were still
together. We were living in a two bedroom appartment and I was watching my mother draw big
beautiful paisly prints on thick paper with her shimmery gel pens. While I watched her hands I
listened to the lullaby sound of the violin in the song. Even now, depending on how I feel, I will listen
to the music most. I still borrowed my mothers CD player on numerous occasions. Apparently, I
borrowed it so many times, it was just easier for my mom and dad to save the money to buy me one of
my own. I now could listen to the song over and over as many times as I wanted. This was my very
first CD player. I even got my own pair of headphones. They went over the top of my head and went
over my ears with the thin foam that made sure everyone heard what I was listening to. This CD

ABSTRACT
The main concern of today s automobile industry is to reduce the amount of emissions (HC, CO,
NOx) to meet stringent emission norms. These emission norms can be obtained by modification in in
cylinder combustion process or after treatment process. It s not possible to achieve the emission norms
by in cylinder process alone. So, in this project, we make an attempt to reduce the emissions by the
after treatment process. The scope of our project is to reduce emissions in both gasoline and diesel
engines. In the after treatment process, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology dominates the
heavy duty diesel engines and catalytic convertor plays an important role in the current era of gasoline
engines. In this an attempt made to reduce NOx emissions by SCR technology. In this work, we used
Zeolite ZSM 5 as catalyst which was assisted by urea injection in the exhaust tail pipe. It has been
observed that 10 to 12% of NOx was reduced compared to existing engine set up.

Japan And India Dbq Essay
Throughout the late 1800s to the early 1900s, both japan and India saw a rise in the use of machines in
the textile industry. Both showed similar recruitment techniques, but were not so similar in who the
workers were and their working conditions.
The Indian textiles chart showed how India used machines to produce greater yarn and cloth amounts
in 1914 as compared to the production in 1884. As well it demonstrated how the amount of people
using machine made textiles had greatly increased opposed to hand made textiles (Doc 1). In 1916
Radhakamal Mukerjee, an Indian economist, explains how that handwoven textiles cannot keep up
with the machine made textiles, and therefore is on a decline (Doc 6). This identifies how India is

the Japanese textile factories seem barely livable. In contrast the Indian factory workers lived in their
own huts and worked for only two years (Doc 9). This shows much better living conditions for Indian
workers than Japanese workers. Since the document is written by a commissioner not a worker, the

World War Chapter 1 Summary
1. Alien ships landed on Earth. The aliens who are more commonly known as the zhree don t do
anything for the first few weeks. Then, they announced that they were they were taking over the planet
and that is was under their jurisdiction and protection. Humankind was furious and they didn t give
into the situation at hand. For thirty years there was a large war, and although the humans fought well,
they faltered. This is important because the aliens have taken over the Earth and caused a lot of
problems. 2. The zhrees formed a close relationship with the humans after the war is over. Humans
fuse alien technology to their own bodies. This allows them to have unheard of abilities and powers.
Soldiers who have fused technology to their bodies have their own built in armor. These people are
called exos. This is important because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Stranger Experience By Dr. John Howard, At The Dinah...
For my Stranger Experience, I went to a lecture called Picturing Queer Souths , which was taught by
Dr. John Howard, at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center. He is a professor at King s College in
London, and he is also a University of Alabama alumnus. During this lecture, he discussed the
different aspects of LGBT photography and how sexuality can be expressed through that medium,
whether there are members of the community physically present in that photographs or not. There was
a specific focus on southern photographers that are members of the LGBT community, not only in the
American South, but also in relatively southern parts of the world, like South Africa for example.
Through his lecture, Dr. Howard explored the idea that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The experience of attending the lecture was incredibly interesting to me. Personally, I identify as a
heterosexual woman, so this was actually the first time I ever visited a place that was focused on
LGBT life experiences and art. Interestingly enough, although the space was not necessarily queer
exclusive, I believe that a majority of the attendees were members of the queer community. This led to
several questions after the lecture pertaining to personal experiences from members of the community
and how they related to the lecture that was shared. I think that one of the aspects of strangeness I
experienced was the fact that I did not feel comfortable asking a question that I had at the end of the
lecture. There was nothing necessarily telling me that I could not ask a question, in fact, it was
encouraged for the most part. I simply felt like I was in a space that was specifically for queer people
and that it was not my place to speak up, since I typically have the privilege of having my voice heard
daily.
Another aspect that felt strange to me was the overt sexuality of many of the photographs that were
shown. I grew up in a very conservative Christian household, where I was taught that sexuality was
something that was private and sex itself was reserved for married couples. Many of the photos shown
during Dr. Howard s lecture showed partial or complete nudity, or were candid photos of LGBT
couples participating in sex acts. This was

Similarities Between Dracula And Modern Day Society
Are there still connections between Bram Stokers famous novel Dracula and modern day society? In
Dracula, Stoker expands on many themes that indeed exist today. Not only does he touch on the most
obvious theme, sex. He expands on gender division and good versus evil. Some say since times have
changed the themes I introduced have changed as well, leaving connections between then and now
irrelevant. However, I feel that although times have changed they still have roots from the time of the
novel to now. In this essay I will expand on the themes of this novel while connecting them to modern
day society, the critical texts I have chosen and will mention later on in the essay are a good
representation of the commonalities between the chill, dark Victorian days in which the era that
Dracula was written in and modern day. Why does Bram Stoker and many authors alike make
vampires out to be voluptuous and sexy? Is it because it brings light to our darkest desires? Not in the
sense that we desire to feed on another humans blood. But in more of a dark and sinful kind of way. In
society back then and now, sex is still kind of weird to talk and be open about. Although, sex is more
accepted nowadays it is still something you usually do not discuss. So I believe what drew a large
crowd in for Dracula was the fact that it went against the norms of society. For example, the Jonathan
Harker describes the encounter with the three sisters as ecstasy (Stoker 42). He said that they had

By allowing free college tuition the ambition gap would become more achievable to students making
them thrive in less stressful schooling environments knowing their college tuition wouldn t be a
burden of accelerating in academics.
Another way free college tuition would benefit our country is by allowing the education gap at the
bottom to no longer set a standard on education students receive. Thomas L. Friedman author of The
World Is Flat , states, So it made it possible for relatively wealthy people to organize into self taxing
districts. And that meant that wealthy people, by associating with each other, could tax themselves at
relatively low rates and still produce very high per capita per student school budgets, because of their
bigger homes and higher property tax assessments. (360). Funding plays a major role in how many
schools are educated and at what level by levels of poverty, but by allowing free college tuition
students can look at more schools that offer some of the best of education.
In order to minimize the numbers gap of students trying to thrive in earning a degree, free college
tuition can allow students to pursue more degrees in less sought after jobs. Friedman states, According
to the National Science Foundation, half of America s scientists and engineers are forty years or older,

Essay on Curling and Team
Curling is a precision team sport similar to bowls or bocce, played on a rectangular sheet of prepared
ice by two teams of four players each, using heavy polished granite stones which players slide down
the ice towards a target area called the house. Points are scored for the number of stones that a team
has closer to the centre of the target than the closest of the other team s stones.
The game is thought to have been invented in late medieval Scotland, with the first written reference
to a contest using stones on ice coming from the records of Paisley Abbey, Renfrew, in February 1541.
In the early history of curling, the rocks were simply flat bottomed river stones which were sometimes

In general the sweepers are responsible for instructing the skip in regards to the weight, or speed of the
rock, and the skip and the thrower instruct regarding aim. Teams confer between throws to determine
where they will attempt to place the next rock.
The process of throwing a rock is known as the delivery. While not mandatory, most curlers deliver
the rock from sliding out from the hack. When sliding out, one must start with one shoe (the one with
the non slippery sole) against one of the hacks . For a right handed curler, this means starting from the
left hack, and vice versa for a left handed curler.
When delivering the rock, it is important to remember that the momentum behind how much weight is
applied to the rock depends on how much leg drive the delivery has. It is usually not wise to push the
rock with the arm, unless absolutely necessary. When in the hack, one must crouch down with the
body lined up and shoulders square with the skip s broom at the other end. While in the hack, one may
hold a broom out for balance. Different curlers hold their broom out in many different fashions. The
broom is held in the hand opposite from the rock, and should be positioned so that the non sweeping
side of the broom is against the ice. This prevents drag which would be caused by the soft head of the
broom dragging against the ice.
Before any delivery, it is important to

Rhetorical Analysis Of Banksy
Rhetorical Analysis of Banksy s The Son of a Migrant from Syria
With his piece The Son of a Migrant from Syria painted on the walls of a refugee camp in Calais,
France, anonymous British street artist, who is known by the pseudonym Banksy, enters the politically
fueled debate about the refugee and migrant crisis across the world. Western societies in particular are
concerned about the economic impact of accepting immigrants and refugees but Steve Jobs was the
son of a Syrian migrant. Apple is the world s most profitable company, it pays over $7 billion a year in

The British artist has no true public identity. With no background on the individual responsible for the
mural it is difficult to know if he carries any clout in the political or sociocultural world. Banksy is
known to be somewhat of a socialistic democrat, as implied by the genre of his art, but otherwise there
is no information given to assess his credibility. Given that Banksy is quite popular and well known,
his reputation reinforces his credibility as an opinionated street artist, but not as a credible resource in
regards to immigration policy and government aid. Banksy s affinity towards political and socially
controversial art makes it easy to understand his interests in issues surrounding the treatment of
migrants, refugees, and humanitarianism. However, his expertise in the subject is made even less
reliable due to the lack of relevance Steve Jobs has with the actual situation. For example, Steve Jobs
was the son of a migrant and not a migrant himself and he was adopted and had never met his migrant
father therefore he is not an accurate representative for refugees or migrants. Banksy s visual appeal to
ethos is virtually non existent for those unfamiliar with his works. This may not effect the viewer s
engagement in the argument but makes them disregard Banksy s personal contribution to the
argument. Overall, the appeal to Ethos appears to be minimally effective in persuading the audience

The Work Conducted By A Researcher
Fieldwork is basically practical work conducted by a researcher in the natural environment, thus
constituting for the base of anthropology in collecting data from cultures previously isolated from the
world kept hidden away until discovery. Cultural Anthropology remains an important part in
collecting fieldwork due to experiencing the unknown when researching and obtaining data from

to the modern era continually changing in order to obtain and even more accurate basis of information.
The information appears quite dated when I type in fieldwork in the search engine, some spanned
nearly over a decade and others well into the 1970 s. Anthropology came a distant way over the course
of 100 years continuously changing and adopting new methods in order for precision and accuracy.
The problems first arose in Anthropology started with the armchair approach in the late 19th century;
men of higher nobility began to write statements on a culture of people they have never witness except
from the writings of missionaries, explorers, and merchants. Towards the early 20th century, the
verandah approach began to emerge, where people who live near the indigenous group would start
emphasizing of interviewing the native. Unfortunately, the interviewer would pay the person for the
interview and the person interviewed would range from the high seat of power, a chief basically.

You can look at options other than the bank
Opt for Credit Unions or car finance lenders. These small ventures might be able to help you more

Pay attention to the loan terms
And consider what role they might play in your life. Of course, you ll have to change your lifestyle if
you want to come up with the payments on time. Reflect if you are ready to do that or not. Look for a
loan that must be paid in the shortest possible time, since longer credit life would also mean higher

probably, is not the right time to buy a car.

Key Areas Of Responsibility For A Dual Role
Key areas of responsibility for this dual role were to manage the operation of the IT infrastructure
whilst overseeing the allocation of workloads and scheduling for all forty drivers. The area of focus
was to co ordinate the fleet contractors in the morning while in the afternoons; I concentrated on the
IT related aspects of the role. After discovering that this organisation had limited infrastructure (10+
years old) which had restricted company growth, my recommendations to senior management to
implement a more efficient IT infrastructure. This improved network speed, reliability and data
management.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS:
 Infrastructure Improvements: Assisted in leading the continued development of the IT infrastructure

Flexible Working In Australia
A flexible working environment is detrimental to the workforce of today s society. Society exists in an
ever changing, fast and evolving world in which the fluid nature and culture of employees, needs to be
considered. Employers who embrace a flexible working environment for their employees will see
double the returns in productivity, initiative and drive to succeed in achieving company goals.
Today s workforce is a changing workforce due to the economic stance on Australian citizens as well
as the window of opportunity is changing. Entering the workforce are no longer school leavers, the
middle aged and seniors but now we are seeing a trend of inclusion of working mothers, part time
parents, shared care arrangements, semi retirees and a push in paid / unpaid internships. Due to the
rising costs of literally everything in Australia, more and more Australians are being forced to return to
work and in doing so, having to work around other arrangements or commitments as well. ... Show

Secularism In The Canterbury Tales
The decades preceding the 14th century, more commonly known as the Middle Ages, encountered a
culture dominated almost entirely by religion. The vested powers in the hands of the Pope and in
Christianity were capable of influencing the social standards and moral principles of the society.
However, in The Canterbury Tales, a series of twenty four short stories, Geoffrey Chaucer depicts the
rise of secularism. One of the stories, The Miller s Tale, follows three young men John, Nicholas,
Absolon who are all involved with one woman, Alisoun. Chaucer ignores divine revelation and deals
solely with the corrupted, material world of sin and vice, revealing a shift in culture, a movement
away from religious principles, and the selfish manipulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While adultery was not as common as simple fornication, it prevailed during the late Middle Ages.
Chaucer illustrates this by trivializing adultery when Nicholas gives way to impulse and seduces
Alisoun. As their plan to fool the carpenter, John, goes to fruition, without more words [Nicholas and
Alisoun] go to bed, where the carpenter is accustomed to lie (3648 3651). The youth demonstrate a
lack of principle compared to the Christian standards set forth by the church. Similarly, The Miller s
Tale describes the evident rise in indecent exposure in society. Obscene exposure was one of the most
common sexual offenses during the Middle Ages and was not supported by religious institutions. This
is demonstrated in the text when [Nicholas] opened the window hastily and put his ass stealthily over
the buttock, to the thigh (3801 3803). The action of revealing his buttock out the window, among other
sins committed in the story, brings to light the beginnings of a cultural shift in moral principles.
Accordingly, Chaucer demonstrates that as the characters continued to commit sinful acts throughout
the story and society drifted away from the church, the habits of society were

Literature Review Of Job Satisfaction
THE RETAIL COMPANY In this report, the job satisfaction of the employees at Zara, an international
clothing retailer with 8 stores in Singapore and a worldwide profit of $14.4 Billion, will be evaluated.
Using a literature review, determinants of job satisfaction at Zara will be identified before a
questionnaire will be designed for the full time associates working in local Zara stores. Through this
evaluation, areas of improvement can be identified to enhance the job satisfaction and performance of
Zara s employees. LITERATURE REVIEW WHAT IS JOB SATISFACTION? 2000 studies have been
published on job satisfaction since the 1950 s (Kahn, 1972). Job satisfaction refers to an employee s
feelings towards their job based on the comparison between actual versus desired outcomes (Locke,

development and incentives. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work environment refers to the perception of
employees that appraise whether a workplace is beneficial to their personal being (Lazarus, 1984;

Rockefeller.
Standard Oil of Indiana, as the company was officially known for many years, took shape in 1899.
Initially it consisted of a single facility outside Whiting, Indiana, which refined oil intro products that
people and business needed: axle grease for industrial machinery, paraffin wax for candles, and
kerosene for home lighting.
The company grew. By the early 1900s it was the leading provider of kerosene and gasoline in the
Midwest. Kerosene sales would eventually falter. But with car ownership booming across the United
States, demand for gasoline would only go up and up.
The first Amoco service station opened in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1912. Those were heady days
for the company. Rockefeller s Standard Oil Trust had been broken up the previous year, meaning that
Amoco had to stand on its own feet.
Two company scientists registered a patent for a process they had invented called thermal cracking. It
doubled the amount of gasoline that could be made from a barrel of oil and also boosted the gasoline s
octane rating. The process became standard practice in the refining industry, and it was credited with
averting a gasoline shortage during the First World War.
In the 1920s, the company decided to secure its own sources of crude oil. It established an exploration
and production business, Stanolind, with plans to look for oil mainly in the United States. In 1930

Suv And Crossover Vehicles Of Cars
SUV and Crossover vehicles are starting to take over the US car market. 2016 is the year of the SUV
and pickup truck. Each month the car sales share of the market slips a bit (NPR, 2016). This means
that sales of your average car are starting to slip. If you pay attention while driving down the road you
may notice this. I believe there are several reasons why this is starting to be the case. SUVs and
Crossover vehicles sit higher than an average commuter or luxury car. They tend to have more space
inside for passengers and cargo. They are starting to rival the fuel economy of cars. Four wheel drive
is a feature available to all of them. Now before I get started I said SUVs and Crossovers. While these
two types of vehicles are broadly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is especially true if a person has to commute long distances to work. A new study by
TrueCar.com finds tooling around in a small SUV is no longer that wasteful. The sales weighted fuel
economy average is only 2 miles per gallon apart (26.83 mpg SUV vs. 28.84 mpg sedan) SUV owners
typically will pay only another $3 more tankful to fill up their SUV compared to a sedan. (USA Today,
2015). Granted those numbers are for a Crossover, However manufactures like Nissan and RAM
Trucks are starting to place small diesel engines in half ton trucks in order to gain fuel economy
without sacrificing payload capability. RAM is claiming to make up to 29 MPG with their small diesel
(I was not able to find fuel economy numbers for the Nissan engine). So it is likely fair to assume that
it is only a matter of time before traditional SUVs get engines of that type. Height is also an apparent
factor in the purchase of these vehicles. People reportedly like the fact that they sit higher than an
average car. It gives people the feeling that they have command of the road . As someone that drives a
full size truck I can confirm that being able to see over the car(s) in front of you does give you a
certain commanding feeling. Driving a low sitting sedan just feels like you are dragging your backside
across the pavement. However I think there may be more to the height factor.

Realism In Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington develops the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism.
Idealism is the way of looking for the best in everything and not really seeing the bad. Realism is the
way of looking at things the way they are in the real world. Cynicism is the way of thinking that no
one has any good in them and that the whole world is horrible. Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
brings out the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism through the main characters, Clarissa
Saunders, Senator Joseph Paine, and Jefferson Smith. Clarissa Saunders came to Washington with
eyes that were big blue question marks now they are green dollar signs. She says this while talking to
her friend and what she means is that she was naive because he is talking all about how he went sight
seeing and loves all the ideals that America stands for, she even lets reporters come and make fun of
him. After Saunders gets to know Jeff she begins to care for him and starts to fall in love with him.
One night while Saunders and Jeff are drafting a bill she learns that he loves Susan Paine and this
breaks her heart. She leaves the city but suddenly realizes that she needs some of Jefferson s idealistic
qualities and goes back. Saunders goes to find Jeff at the Lincoln Memorial and tells him to fight for
what he believes in. This is a turning point for Saunders because she has found out how to balance
idealism with realism. Senator Joseph Paine was once a very good man but has now become

Marketers spend huge amounts of dollars a year globally persuading individuals into consumer
lifestyles that has had consequences of wastefulness and buying things we do not need (Beder, 1998).
Advertisements exploit people s securities, create false needs and offer dishonest solutions. The
bottom line of advertisements is the creation of dissatisfaction to cause consumption. Youth are most
prone to this kind of product manipulation (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). Marketers are targeting young
children since they easily influence their parents spending. Traditionally, marketing concentrated on

children below the age of nine were incapable of differentiating commercial ads and programs and

Psychological Association (APA) indicates that children under the age of eight cannot comprehend
televised advertised messages and readily accept the advertiser s message as truthful and accurate.
This leads to unhealthy feeding habits as proved by the increased cases of obesity. This paper will

The order and stability of the society are cognizant to a consensus on the values, norms and the
interconnected parts of the community (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). The maintenance of the society is
dependent on the different parts fulfilling their functions which are evident in the analogy of society
and biological organisms. The body is made up of many organs which must work together for the
living organism to survive (Tepperman Curtis, 2013). Similarly, social institutions must work together
for the survival of the society. Media contributes to the maintenance of the society by surveilling the

The wicked problem of the gender wage gap s presence in the United States workforce is highly
debated. Because the issue is often intangible and so complex in nature, the causes of the wage gap are
often difficult to pinpoint and wholly address. In nearly almost every occupation women earn less than
their male counterparts. Over their lifetimes men will be paid more than women (Institute for Women

there is debate whether this issue exists in American society. Moreover, there are long lasting
impressions of what society thinks is normal and common practice. If policymakers and government

obstinate inequality in income has significant economic consequences that extend to other issues that

What Affect does Seed Size have on Plant Growth Rate and Height?

The purpose of this experiment is to investigate whether the size of the bean will affect the height and
growth rate of the bean stalk. According to Anthony Brach Ph.D., the larger seed size tends to grow
slower because they require more nutrients than smaller seeds, however, larger seeds will often grow
taller because they have a lot of nutrients stored in them. Mung beans, are a legume likely native to

General Solicitations And Sell Securities
General Solicitations in Rule 506 D Securities To offer and sell securities in the United States, an
issuer must comply with the registration requirements of the amended Securities Act of 1933, or must
offer and sell the securities pursuant to an exemption from the registration requirements. Rule 506 of
Regulation D is commonly used as a private offering exemption. In 2013 the SEC lifted the ban on
general solicitation or general advertising in specific private offerings of securities. Considered the
final rule , it represents a compromise in many respects. Businesses who wish to raise funds will have
greater opportunities for fulfilling their goal with the lifting of the ban. However, compliance
requirements must also be satisfied in the process. The final rule doesn t apply to all private securities
offerings. Businesses are required to meet numerous requirements such as selling only to accredited
investors, taking logical steps to verify each potential investor is accredited, and follow the other terms
and conditions of a Rule 506 securities offering. For example, issuers should realize that nothing in
the amendments to Rule 506 affect the obligation of the issuer utilizing the safe harbor to make full

The Investigation Of Movement And Its Effect On Football
When you toss a football to one of your companions out in the back yard, you are applying material

Empathy Within Leadership In Leaders Eat Last By Simon Sinek
Empathy is being able to understand and share another person s feelings or emotions. It allows a team
to develop trust and understand others. Leaders who express empathy towards their team shows that
they truly care about the people within their team.
An example of empathy within leadership would be when both the committee chair and members are
understanding and sharing each other s feelings. For example, if a committee chair is aware that one of
his/her member is hosting a big class event that week, the chair would not be putting as much stress on
that member for the week. This is both for the well being of the member and the committee in general.
Likewise, the committee members would step up in times where the chair is facing difficulties.
In the book, Sinek shows an example of empathy within leadership through Johny Bravo and his team
s mission. Although he cannot see, Bravo was able to comprehend the anxiety of his team on the
ground. He related to the feelings of his men below using a scene from a movie. By understanding and
relating to the feelings of those below him, Bravo expressed great empathy towards his team and was
able to successfully help his men stay alive.
In Chapter 1 of Leaders Eat Last, Simon Sinek explains the importance of empathy through a

To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put
the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our
personal life, we must first set our hearts right.
(Confucius)
The words above belong to Confucius, who was one of the most respected philosophers of all time. He
founded a social and political system of philosophy, and transmitted his ideas to a group of disciplines.
His teachings were later collected in a book known as the Analects by his followers. Confucius is

women must be obedient towards their husband, and men must protect their wives. Another Confucian

the examples of Confucian family rituals, and these rituals were already existed in Chinese family
system before Confucius, too. Confucius expressed these traditions in a clear and impressive way. As
a result of this, the Confucian family rituals have reached up to the present day , and they are still
being complied today. Women and men are still expected to be respectful and protective, children are
still highly valued, and elderly are still powerful within in the family today in China. In conclusion,

the rituals that has been used before Confucius, by the time of Confucius, and after him up to

  • 2. Effectiveness Of Stylistics On The Reader. Stylistics Are Effectiveness of Stylistics on the Reader Stylistics are used in writing to set various pieces of literature apart, while also determining the effectiveness said literature has on the reader. The novels Such is My Beloved and By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept both involve the concepts of sex and religion, but are each enjoyed by different groups of readers, Factors that highlight these differences include the point of view which story is told from, the word choice by the author, and the style the novel is written with. Such is My Beloved is enjoyed by more readers due to its following of a traditional form of writing, use of simplistic direct language, and a higher use of personal words and sentences than found in By Grand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is apparent in the scene where the main character is being questioned at the border and a guard states, Better not try any funny business...you re only making this tough on yourself. (Smart, 48) Instead of responding to the guard, she answers in her mind which only the reader can comprehend stating, Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. (Smart, 48)This shifting mental state of the main character is quite unique while also creating a need for a higher degree of focus by the audience to stay on track with the plot. The dictation used in Such is my Beloved is quite simplistic solidifying further the ease of read the story has. Callaghan uses short, concise sentences to move the story forward while providing the reader with a well detailed recounting of events. The passage examined in this paper captures the dialogue heavy nature of the story and some of the more heavy narrative portions the story has to offer. An interesting point is that 32% of the words found on pages 121 122 contain the same fifteen words. (Chart 1) The word choice by Callaghan was rated by The Reading Level Skill algorithm to be at a 11 12 grade level. (wordcounter.net) This solidifies an argument that this story is written to reach many people as it uses a less advanced dictionary than many other works. Surprisingly similar in dictation to Callaghan s passage is the entry from By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept, which although written ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cell Membrane Permeability Only uncharged, small, polar molecules, (such as water) and hydrophobic molecules, (such as oxygen, carbon dioxide) and lipid soluble molecules (such as hydrocarbons) can freely pass across the membrane. All ions and large polar molecules (such as glucose) are not permeable to the membrane. Membrane structure The plasma membrane maintains dynamic homeostasis by separating the internal metabolic events of the cell from its external environment and controlling the movement of materials into and out of the cell. The membrane is a double phospholipid membrane, also referred to as a phospholipid bilayer, and has polar hydrophilic ( water loving ) phosphate heads around the outside and non polar hydrophobic ( water fearing ) fatty acid tails on the inside of the membrane. Slight variations in these structure of the fatty acids in the membrane alter the fluidity of the membrane. Phospholipids with saturated fatty acid pack more tightly, because of the nature of their single carbon bonds. This leads to a more rigid membrane. Unsaturated fatty acids, which have double carbon bonds, limit packing and result in a more flexible membrane. Cholesterol molecules distributed throughout the phospholipid bilayer provide some stability to the plasma membranes of animal cells. At higher temperatures the cholesterol molecules allow the membrane to be firmer, at lower temperatures they allow for flexibility. • 4. Worm Hole Attack Essay Figure 3: Worm hole attack E. Motivation and Problem Formulation Application of game theoretic approach to individual nodes distributes the responsibility of security to all the nodes in the network thus reducing the loop holes in the security. The Game Theory approach explored in recent times addressing security issues in MANET focuses mostly on networks having central administration involving only 2 players i.e. attacker and defender. We propose a novel game theoretic approach with multiple players for security in MANETs. In a distributed environment there is no central administration and hence each node has to defend himself from the attacks. We propose a dynamic mean field game theoretic approach to enable an individual node in MANETs to make strategic security defense decisions without centralized administration. In the proposed mean field game theoretic approach, each node only needs to know its own state information and the aggregate effect of the other nodes in the MANET[2], making nodes self reliable against attacks. Enhancing Security in Mobile Ad Hoc Network. II. LITERATURE SURVEY Author in [1] propose a new approach to automated response called the response and recovery engine (RRE). These engine employs a game theoretic response strategy against adversaries modeled as opponents in a two player Stackelberg stochastic game. [2] proposed a Mean field Game Theory approach which can be applied to distributed networks having multiple players. The research proposes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Findley Mentioned The Binoculars Page 165 Structure The time is written with a period rather than a colon. I found this odd as I had never seen this before. Ex. 11.55 rather than 11:55. I wonder if this is done intentionally, a change in punctuation over time, or a stylistic choice. Rhetoric A French word is used in the middle of a sentence: reveille which means to wake up (Findley 165). Is this done to refer to the setting in France? Question Robert mentions that he had left his binoculars in his kit bag. I wonder if this is a conscious decision to keep that part in the text. Immediately, it had reminded me of the German soldier as he too was seen with the binoculars. Is it a coincidence that Findley mentioned the binoculars among other things? Page 166 Animals/Question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I wonder if this is a foreshadow to Robert s death in the future. We know that Robert will die by committing an act of compassion. Can we predict that he will die saving animals? Sanctity of Life/Question The big question about whether life is worth preserving is indirectly asked when Devlin is shot for letting the horses free. Is it better to keep them in the stable where they will later be forced into war or let them run around free on a battlefield? Quotation/Madness Captain Leather had killed one of his own men. In a way, this brings up a different concept of killing one of his own men rather than the enemy. Either way, he murdered another being. I thought about this and wondered what Captain Leather will be remembered for when he dies. As Euripides had said, Never that which is shall die, so will Leather be seen as a dutiful captain that was doing his duty, or a traitor for killing one of his own? • 6. The Impact Of Environmental Issues On The Environment In today s society, the environment is constantly being poorly affected by humans and their actions. Environmental issues are defined as problems that the planet s systems face due to humans not treating the Earth properly. These issues can occur from simple actions such as someone throwing their trash on the ground, people overpopulating an area, or even someone driving their car. The importance of this essay is to address these many issues that the Earth is facing along with explaining how we can put an end to these problems. The issues that the planet s systems are facing, are social problems because humans are being negatively affected by them. Imus (2014), states Recent studies have linked pollution exposure to asthma, autism, heart disease, cancer, schizophrenia, migraines, and more (p. 1). Humans are polluting the Earth, which is killing our environment and causing themselves to get sick as well. In our society, the Earth is being treated very poorly. King (2013), states 1.9 billion tons of litter ends up in the ocean every year (p. 1). Whenever people throw trash on the ground, 80 percent of it is carried by runoff; meaning that the trash is transported to the ocean by waterways. After the trash is transported into the ocean, sea creatures are put in danger. However, there is one music group that I have listened to off and on for a very long time. This group is Blue October, and I have listened to them since I was six years old when my mother first introduced me. The music from Blue October is ever changing and has been linear to my ever changing life. I love the music that they make because it is real and alive. I look for sincear songs; Blue October meets this expectation that I have. The song Into The Ocean is the first song that I had ever heard by them. I remember the first time I had ever hear that song was on my moms CD plater when her and my dad were still together. We were living in a two bedroom appartment and I was watching my mother draw big beautiful paisly prints on thick paper with her shimmery gel pens. While I watched her hands I listened to the lullaby sound of the violin in the song. Even now, depending on how I feel, I will listen to the music most. Sirisha2 1M.Tech Student, 2 Assistant Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering DR.SAMUEL INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY MARKAPURAM 523316, PRAKASAM DIST, ANDHRA PRADESH ABSTRACT The main concern of today s automobile industry is to reduce the amount of emissions (HC, CO, NOx) to meet stringent emission norms. These emission norms can be obtained by modification in in cylinder combustion process or after treatment process. It s not possible to achieve the emission norms by in cylinder process alone. So, in this project, we make an attempt to reduce the emissions by the after treatment process. The scope of our project is to reduce emissions in both gasoline and diesel engines. In the after treatment process, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology dominates the heavy duty diesel engines and catalytic convertor plays an important role in the current era of gasoline engines. In this an attempt made to reduce NOx emissions by SCR technology. In this work, we used Zeolite ZSM 5 as catalyst which was assisted by urea injection in the exhaust tail pipe. Interestingly enough, although the space was not necessarily queer exclusive, I believe that a majority of the attendees were members of the queer community. This led to several questions after the lecture pertaining to personal experiences from members of the community and how they related to the lecture that was shared. I think that one of the aspects of strangeness I experienced was the fact that I did not feel comfortable asking a question that I had at the end of the lecture. There was nothing necessarily telling me that I could not ask a question, in fact, it was encouraged for the most part. I simply felt like I was in a space that was specifically for queer people and that it was not my place to speak up, since I typically have the privilege of having my voice heard daily. Another aspect that felt strange to me was the overt sexuality of many of the photographs that were shown. • 14. Similarities Between Dracula And Modern Day Society Are there still connections between Bram Stokers famous novel Dracula and modern day society? In Dracula, Stoker expands on many themes that indeed exist today. Not only does he touch on the most obvious theme, sex. He expands on gender division and good versus evil. Some say since times have changed the themes I introduced have changed as well, leaving connections between then and now irrelevant. However, I feel that although times have changed they still have roots from the time of the novel to now. In this essay I will expand on the themes of this novel while connecting them to modern day society, the critical texts I have chosen and will mention later on in the essay are a good representation of the commonalities between the chill, dark Victorian days in which the era that Dracula was written in and modern day. Why does Bram Stoker and many authors alike make vampires out to be voluptuous and sexy? Is it because it brings light to our darkest desires? Not in the sense that we desire to feed on another humans blood. But in more of a dark and sinful kind of way. In society back then and now, sex is still kind of weird to talk and be open about. Although, sex is more accepted nowadays it is still something you usually do not discuss. So I believe what drew a large crowd in for Dracula was the fact that it went against the norms of society. For example, the Jonathan Harker describes the encounter with the three sisters as ecstasy (Stoker 42). He said that they had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The game is thought to have been invented in late medieval Scotland, with the first written reference to a contest using stones on ice coming from the records of Paisley Abbey, Renfrew, in February 1541. While not mandatory, most curlers deliver the rock from sliding out from the hack. When sliding out, one must start with one shoe (the one with the non slippery sole) against one of the hacks . For a right handed curler, this means starting from the left hack, and vice versa for a left handed curler. When delivering the rock, it is important to remember that the momentum behind how much weight is applied to the rock depends on how much leg drive the delivery has. Standard Oil of Indiana, as the company was officially known for many years, took shape in 1899. Initially it consisted of a single facility outside Whiting, Indiana, which refined oil intro products that people and business needed: axle grease for industrial machinery, paraffin wax for candles, and kerosene for home lighting. The company grew. By the early 1900s it was the leading provider of kerosene and gasoline in the Midwest. Kerosene sales would eventually falter. But with car ownership booming across the United States, demand for gasoline would only go up and up. The first Amoco service station opened in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1912. Those were heady days for the company. Rockefeller s Standard Oil Trust had been broken up the previous year, meaning that Amoco had to stand on its own feet. Two company scientists registered a patent for a process they had invented called thermal cracking. It doubled the amount of gasoline that could be made from a barrel of oil and also boosted the gasoline s octane rating. The process became standard practice in the refining industry, and it was credited with averting a gasoline shortage during the First World War. In the 1920s, the company decided to secure its own sources of crude oil. It established an exploration and production business, Stanolind, with plans to look for oil mainly in the United States. • 27. Suv And Crossover Vehicles Of Cars SUV and Crossover vehicles are starting to take over the US car market. 2016 is the year of the SUV and pickup truck. Each month the car sales share of the market slips a bit (NPR, 2016). This means that sales of your average car are starting to slip. If you pay attention while driving down the road you may notice this. I believe there are several reasons why this is starting to be the case. SUVs and Crossover vehicles sit higher than an average commuter or luxury car. They tend to have more space inside for passengers and cargo. They are starting to rival the fuel economy of cars. Four wheel drive is a feature available to all of them. Now before I get started I said SUVs and Crossovers. While these two types of vehicles are broadly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is especially true if a person has to commute long distances to work. A new study by TrueCar.com finds tooling around in a small SUV is no longer that wasteful. The sales weighted fuel economy average is only 2 miles per gallon apart (26.83 mpg SUV vs. 28.84 mpg sedan) SUV owners typically will pay only another $3 more tankful to fill up their SUV compared to a sedan. (USA Today, 2015). Granted those numbers are for a Crossover, However manufactures like Nissan and RAM Trucks are starting to place small diesel engines in half ton trucks in order to gain fuel economy without sacrificing payload capability. RAM is claiming to make up to 29 MPG with their small diesel (I was not able to find fuel economy numbers for the Nissan engine). So it is likely fair to assume that it is only a matter of time before traditional SUVs get engines of that type. Height is also an apparent factor in the purchase of these vehicles. People reportedly like the fact that they sit higher than an average car. It gives people the feeling that they have command of the road . As someone that drives a full size truck I can confirm that being able to see over the car(s) in front of you does give you a certain commanding feeling. Driving a low sitting sedan just feels like you are dragging your backside across the pavement. However I think there may be more to the height factor. • 28. Realism In Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes To Washington Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington develops the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism. Idealism is the way of looking for the best in everything and not really seeing the bad. Realism is the way of looking at things the way they are in the real world. Cynicism is the way of thinking that no one has any good in them and that the whole world is horrible. Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington brings out the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism through the main characters, Clarissa Saunders, Senator Joseph Paine, and Jefferson Smith. Clarissa Saunders came to Washington with eyes that were big blue question marks now they are green dollar signs. She says this while talking to her friend and what she means is that she was naive because he is talking all about how he went sight seeing and loves all the ideals that America stands for, she even lets reporters come and make fun of him. After Saunders gets to know Jeff she begins to care for him and starts to fall in love with him. One night while Saunders and Jeff are drafting a bill she learns that he loves Susan Paine and this breaks her heart. She leaves the city but suddenly realizes that she needs some of Jefferson s idealistic qualities and goes back. Rule 506 of Regulation D is commonly used as a private offering exemption. In 2013 the SEC lifted the ban on general solicitation or general advertising in specific private offerings of securities. • 39. Empathy Within Leadership In Leaders Eat Last By Simon Sinek Empathy is being able to understand and share another person s feelings or emotions. It allows a team to develop trust and understand others. Leaders who express empathy towards their team shows that they truly care about the people within their team. An example of empathy within leadership would be when both the committee chair and members are understanding and sharing each other s feelings. For example, if a committee chair is aware that one of his/her member is hosting a big class event that week, the chair would not be putting as much stress on that member for the week. This is both for the well being of the member and the committee in general. Likewise, the committee members would step up in times where the chair is facing difficulties. In the book, Sinek shows an example of empathy within leadership through Johny Bravo and his team s mission. Although he cannot see, Bravo was able to comprehend the anxiety of his team on the ground. He related to the feelings of his men below using a scene from a movie. By understanding and relating to the feelings of those below him, Bravo expressed great empathy towards his team and was able to successfully help his men stay alive.
