Hidden Intellectualism In Hidden Intellectualism
Night s darkness of room is cut by a bright kaleidoscope of a rectangular light from the monitor. A girl
sits in front of the display with a fluffy owl on it in large headphones and quietly talking with the
people behind the screen. Suddenly, a door opens up with yelling Turn this off and go do your
homework! Stop wasting your time, stupid! This sad scene is familiar to many people all around the
world: parents often think that games are useless time killers and that teens do not get anything from it
that could be used in the academic world. Despite the widespread opinion, it is not true. In fact, video
games are one of many other non academic interests which make people so called street smart and it is
largely underestimated intelligence. One example of such games actively played worldwide is World
of Warcraft (WoW). In the game, a person chooses a character among many classes and goes to
explore the world kills monsters, accomplishes achievements, and investigates stories of thousands of
non playable characters. All the activities help a player to develop qualities which are useful in the real
world both academically and not. Some writers also investigate the theme of underrating of street
smarts. One of them is a professor of English and education at the University of Illinois at Chicago
Gerald Graff. In his essay Hidden Intellectualism Graff highlights that schools fail to employ street
smart people and turn the quality into academic intelligence, plus,

Jung And Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality
There are many psychoanalytical theories on personality that have been observed and studied from
many perspectives with differing and varying views having been debated on and discussed against on
how best to tackle development and therapy of the mind. In the following paper, I will touch on a few
of the great minds that attempted to encapsulate an understanding of traits and the environmental and
biological associations attributed with those traits that purportedly make up our understanding of
personality.
Carl Jung is considered one of the pioneers of contemporary psychiatry and the study into the
consciousness. Jung s particular view of psychology from an analytical standpoint does not place him
fully within the area of behavioral psychology or cognitive psychology. What is now known as the
Jungian Theory was born from Carl Jung s beliefs that all humans share what is known as a collective
unconscious in which is contains common ideas or archetypes (Wade, Tavris, 2012). With this came
Jung s idea of introversion and extroversion within the basic personality. Carl Jung in many ways was
similar to Sigmund Freud, however the two shared many theoretical differences. Much of what Jung
brought to the world of psychology has been used among the beliefs of many New Age practices
(Wade, Tavris, 2012) and as such Jung s work been considered highly controversial in many
psychology circles.
Jung was born in Kesswil Switzerland in 1875. Born Carl Gustav Jung he was the only son to a

Ingenuity In The Odyssey
The hero s character is itself quite unique, multifaceted such as his ingenuity. We can often call
Ulysses by several nicknames, but those who return the more often showcase his ingenuity: the
Inventive , industrious, ingenious . Moreover, it is to him that the Greeks owe their victory, thanks to
the Trojan Horse ruse. Odysseus uses his ingenuity when a threat arises, but also by taste. Prudence
and dissimulation are two features of this inventiveness. Thus, to protect himself, he maintains the
mystery about his identity, as among the Phaeacians, but also on his return to Ithaca, helped by
Athena. Odysseus, in his insightful intelligence, borders on the prudent wisdom of one who knows,
that warns and teaches his companions. Another virtue of his personality ... Show more content on

Ulysses is also a skilled orator, whose words are calculated and convincing: he knows how to say
compliments to Calypso that soothe her anger. But the most important role and attitude and the most
moving of Odysseus is the nostalgia for his homeland. Thus, Odysseus suffers from being held far
from Ithaca, and thus because of the anger of Poseidon, who does not forgive him for having blinded
Polyphemus, his son. The suffering of Odysseus actually makes him also a sensitive hero in the
Odyssey, far from conceited warrior of the Iliad. But to accomplish these feats, Odysseus needs
weapons, and they are different from what one would expect. First, these are the weapons of man, and
not those of the warrior that will allow Odysseus to survive from his adventures. He is a hero of
endurance. This virtue is constantly emphasized in the epithets such as the patient . With the amount
and hardness of the hardships he has endured, is the hero in the eyes of mortals, but also for the gods.
This patient, who responds to the Poseidon tenacity, enables him to overcome

Analysis Of Student Performance
Once students on track predictors are established, schools must create systems that are conducive to
student success. While the indicators do not offer information to specific interventions, researchers
have studied those strategies that impact growth in the areas of attendance and course performance.
Mac Iver, Sheldon, Naeger and Clark (2017) summarize that student performance is most impacted by
quality instruction and positive classroom climate. Teacher collaboration impacts each of these
elements and as Allensworth and Easton (2017) state, the quality and quantity of teachers working
together to share responsibility for student success will impact the percent of students who are on
track. In large cities like Chicago where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research Strategies
In this study, there will be a focus on two groups of students: those graduating high school and those
entering high school in the 2017 18 school year. A quantitative study will examine the on track status
of these students over the course of their years in high school. Given these on track rates and
consistency among the rates, the cohort graduation rate will be assessed for numbers of students who
graduate, are accepted to post secondary education, those who enroll and over time persist toward
completion of a college degree. Data will be collected from historic data that is available to the school
in regard to grades, attendance and overall GPA throughout semesters and over time. Acceptance rate
information will be collected through surveys and interviews, and persistence rates will be collected
through the use of interviews and evaluation of student transcripts. The second group of students will
be the recipients of targeted strategies and interventions to support their remaining on track given their
status at the end of their eighth grade year. Qualitative data above will be supported by survey and
interview results of teachers and individual students experiences with each intervention.
Justification for Methodology Decisions The use of quantitative data is necessary for the tracking of
on track success, as well as supporting the effectiveness of strategy implementation. The researcher
will be able to determine if

Responsibility For The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet
A pair of star crossed lovers take their lives. (Prologue, 7) In this tragedy two families, Montague and
Capulet, have been in a feud for a long time. The families two children, Romeo Montague and Juliet
Capulet, fall in love. They marry in secret and the marriage causes many problems, including a
conflict between Romeo and Tybalt, Juliet s cousin. This tragedy is a play resulting in death for many.
Romeo and Juliet are to blame for this tragedy but Tybalt is most responsible. The main reason why
Romeo has partial responsibility for the tragedy is because he was very impulsive. Romeo took the
relationship between Juliet and him to far to fast. They got married barely a day after meeting. At the
beginning of the play Romeo was lovesick ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fight. Tybalt confronted Capulet about the problem, but he was told to leave Romeo alone. I will

knew he wanted to get revenge on Romeo later. He later got the revenge. Tybalt killed Mercutio,
which is the start to the troubles in this unfolding tragedy. Tybalt went looking for Romeo to fight.
Romeo didn t want to fight the cousin of his secret wife. Mercutio jumped in and was killed by Tybalt.
With his friend dead, Romeo went chasing after the killer. Romeo killed Tybalt which made him get
banished. If Tybalt wouldn t have killed Mercutio, Romeo wouldn t have gotten banished, and Juliet
would ve never faked her death. This tragedy has 3 people holding responsibility for it; Romeo, Juliet
and most of all Tybalt. Although Romeo and Juliet were the lover birds in this, they are responsible for

between the Montagues and Capulets, we learn that it s best if secrets aren t kept and that you don t

Historical Aspects Of A Building
As we ve discussed in the class before, the history of a building is as important as the buildings
function, sometimes even more important. It is important to not forget the historical aspects of
buildings like how the White House, the place where modern presidents still reside, was built
primarily by slaves. It is important to recognize the negative and positive things about a building that
tie it to our history, lest these things become headlines when people are reminded of their past.
We should not forget how far we have come and we should let these horrible things that we ve grown
from teach us lessons for the future. The building that I am talking about in my paper does not have
such a sordid past, it was built not even ten years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a large amount of windows, big and small to take advantage of the natural sunlight, as well
as windows controlled by the temperature of the building that are programmed to open when it is too
hot and to close as it gets cold. On the outside of the building, covering some of the windows are
exterior window shudders that allow just the right amount of sun in when needed. Since they have big
clear windows they also added very fine netting a few inches away from them because unfortunately a
lot of birds were flying into the windows and injuring themselves.
Many of the roofs on the land either have solar panels or are green roofs that allow for plants to grow
on top of them which keeps the building temperature balanced, lowers carbon dioxide, and helps
collect water for the water cisterns that they use for the bathrooms and for watering plants. The roofs
being held up with link chains as pillars from the office side of the building to the lounge side. The
building also boasts extra insulation to insure that no extra energy escapes and less influence in the
building of the weather outside, and when that s not enough they also have geothermal wells to help
sustain the buildings temperature without using much energy (Morris Arboreteum University of
Pennsylvania).

Healthcare Associated, and is continuing to grow substantially in number. With Community
Associated Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA MRSA) on the rise in the United States,

Outpatient frequency of CA MRSA continues to increase, and it is believed that this is a huge factor in
not replacing, but adding to the increase in HA MRSA. (3) CA MRSA is easily spread among young,
healthy individuals predominantly by skin to skin contact, and in places where close contact or
overcrowding of people is common. This we know includes many areas of our society thus leading to
the cause of why it affects the healthier people in our communities. Because of the strain of CA
MRSA and its virulence factors, scientists are trying to research better ways to battle this gram
negative bacterium. Unfortunately, the funding is not usually there. Awareness and prevention are the
keys to stopping CA MRSA from spreading not only among individuals in the community, but also
being transmitted into the hospitals already battling MRSA. Proper hand hygiene is number one in
prevention, and should be taken seriously by everyone, not just healthcare workers. If we want to
battle this growing endemic disease, we must all do our part and make others aware. Since it targets
mainly the healthy younger individuals in and around our communities, and across the nation, we all
need to be a part of the solution not just the healthcare

The Human Mind In George Eliot s I Grant You Ample Leave
Imagine a person is asked to flip a coin. He is given three chances to guess whether the coin will land
on heads or tails. The first two flips, he guesses heads and both times the coin lands on tails. Certainly
the third time, the guesser believes, the coin must land on heads. He follows his instinct, and he is
wrong again. This scenario is just one example of the human mind attempting to impose a pattern on a
random phenomenon. People love patterns and order, so we create societies, institutions, and artificial
concepts like time. The human brain sees a man on the moon and seeks out information confirming its
hypotheses (and ignores support for the oppositions). George Eliot critiques this beneficial, but also
limiting, skill of the human mind. In I Grant You Ample Leave, she argues that humans perceive
pattern and connection where there is none. Line 6 of I Grant You Ample Leave asserts that You link
false inference with, the Since so (Eliot, 6). Within these few words, Eliot describes her audience with
an emphatic pronoun. She then retains her audience s attention using unorthodox styles such as
enjambment and blank verse. Finally, she employs a logogram, the ampersand, as a symbol of her
poem s argument.
With the first word of the line You, Eliot yanks the reader s attention to who her audience is. The
reader s eyes drift calmly from the end of the previous line to be startled by the capitalized and
enjambed pronoun You. Eliot capitalized the first

Hellenistic Statue Analysis
A piece of art history from the Hellenistic Greek period now sits on its ship like throne in the stairwell
of the Louvre Museum in Paris. Victory lands on a ship s prow to crown a naval victory. Her wings
still beat, and the wind sweeps her drapery. The statues s placement of splashing water heightened the
dramatic visual effect. (Kleiner) The perfect description for the beauty and grace this statue holds.
Most of the statues during the Hellenistic time period interacted with the environment and appeared as
living, breathing, and almost entirely humanistic (Kleiner). From the origin of this piece of work to the
creation of it, this piece of art was meant to last a life time. This paper will be analyzing and

contained a pool filled with water in which the ship appeared to float. (Marie Bénédicte) This
extraordinary piece of art was discovered by Charles Champoiseau in 1863. He was a keen amateur
archaeologist, and hoped to find some attractive relics for the imperial museum in Paris. (Hamiaux)

Vertical Integration at Johnson Johnson
Johnson Johnson: Planning Vertical Integration
Team Synergy
April 4, 2011
In a competitive market to which Johnson and Johnson operates, the smallest of errors can lead to
consequences which can cut revenue. When large mistakes occur, millions of dollars are lost, and even
worse, there is a loss of customer confidence. Johnson and Johnson has had numerous recalls in their
consumer healthcare division recently, which rocked the organization s once sound image, and
diminished its profits. These recalls have hurt Johnson and Johnson s stocks and cost the company
about $900 million in sales last year (Rockoff, 2011).

The vertical integration of J J into health services was a win win for the company, employers targeted
as customers, and employees (Sarasohn Kahn, 2008). The expanded growth capability through
acquiring companies in the downstream will continue to help the organization offer more products and
services. The current problem is that with various product offerings the quality and safety guidelines
may have been overlooked. The product recalls have been a result of poor quality management and
errors in the manufacturing process. The key benefits of backward vertical integration are: more
control over the manufacturing of J J products, advanced technology, and more trusted industry
experience. If J J has greater control over the upstream (selection of raw materials, production,
manufacturing, marketing, and distribution) then greater stability and higher quality goods will be sent
to retailers.
Implementing Solutions
In order for Johnson Johnson to achieve success in its vertical integration process, they need to create
a new position under CEO, William Weldon to manage the Signature of Quality Committee members
(SOQ) and to oversee the full supply chain processes. This role will be known as the Senior Director
of Quality. Within the next 30 days, a Cross functional team made up of the CEO, the Vice President

Burrowing Owls Essay
Burrowing owls are an amazing species of owl that is currently in danger. Historically, the owl resides
in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. This species is migratory through most of its range,
breeding in North American and spending the winter south of the border in Mexico. The burrowing
owl breeds March through July. The owl nests in a burrow made by other small mammals, and lines
the burrow with grasses, feathers, and other natural resources. The owl can lay up to eleven eggs, but
usually only lay three to six. The eggs are incubated for about twenty eight days, and the owlets
usually fledge after forty two days, around September. Burrowing owls diets consist of small
mammals and insects such as mice and grasshoppers. Although this is their main diet they ... Show

Without proper nourishment and food the species cannot reproduce and expand their species further.
Reproduction is vital to any species because it continues the growth and increases biodiversity. If any
animal species were to stop breeding, it would slowly cause extinction of the species. Burrowing owls
are not at the top of the food chain, which makes them prey for other animals.
Baby burrowing owls are clearly the biggest predators in their habitat. There are many reasons as to
why burrowing owls are rapidly declining due to death. Burrowing owls have been killed by
predators, starvation due to food shortage, vehicle accidents, and shooting accidents. Wandering pet
cats have recently become detrimental to many wildlife species. These house cats are responsible for
the deaths of more than a billion birds in North America each year. Cats have a devastating impact on
native wildlife such as the burrowing owl. The issue of pesticides infecting the burrowing owls is still
under investigation. The owls also may be coming in contact with pesticides indirectly through other
animals they are using as a food

The Evolution Of Modern Cattle Breeding
INTRODUCTION:
Modern cattle breeding increasingly involves the widespread use of advanced reproductive
technologies, including artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation embryo transfer (MOET),
frequently with the germplasm of elite international sires and dams selected through individual and
progeny performance recording schemes. These technologies facilitate the rapid worldwide
multiplication of offspring from elite animals to assist the propagation of genes that improve milk
yield, meat production and other desirable traits. However rapid propagation of desirable genes is
accompanied by simultaneous propagation of genetic mutations that may results in production losses
and animal welfare problems, such as Citrullinaemia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Incidence of heterozygotes for citrullinemia has been estimated at less than 0.5% among U.S.
Holsteins cattle.
Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed of
dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia.
Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the
frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant
between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998).
Pathogenesis:
Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme
argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of
controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first identified
in humans and later in dogs and
Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate
synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle.
Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high
levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield
argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). The mutation responsible for
citrullinemia has been characterized as a single base substitution (C T) in exon 5

Outsourcing Repairs On Major Aircraft Components
Outsourcing Repairs on Major Aircraft Components: The Financial and Time Saving Benefits.
Executive Summary
For decades airlines have turned to third party Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities and
contractors to take on the tasks of performing maintenance on their fleet of aircraft s. But over the past
few years, airline companies have been relying on these facilities more and more due to the supply
and demand of air travel. Third party MRO s provide a service of outsourced labor to perform
maintenance on the aircraft s, which allows airline companies to focus on other things. These MRO
facilities specialize in a vast amount of maintenance, from basic line maintenance checks, all the way

Sacrificing an aircraft to be out of commission for a couple weeks is more cost effective than having
to perform lengthy maintenance procedures such as engine overhauls and phase maintenance by our
crew. Third party companies such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and even Rolls Royce are
used to do certain types of maintenance and troubleshoot problems for airline companies. A 1997
General Accounting Office (GAO) report estimated that one half of the maintenance performed by
United States airlines is actually outsourced to repair stations, creating an extremely competitive
environment within the third party aviation maintenance industry (FAA, 2003.) Not only does
outsourcing maintenance save money in the short term, it also saves money in the long term.
Many third party organizations are providing long term service contracts with airlines so that they can
feel secure and know that the cost for parts and labor will not fluctuate throughout the years. This is
why many airlines have created alliances and service agreements with many Original Equipment
Manufacturer (OEM) and third party Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) stations to perform
their maintenance and servicing. Another benefit of outsourcing is that it allows the airlines to cut
back permanent maintenance personnel. This saves them money by reducing paid out salaries for long
term workers. As head of the Maintenance department with

in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill you stay in Wonderland
and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes . I think the idea of knowledge being a truly powerful
force is what sparked Wachowski s imagination, and because of this, was the idea for the film. The
concept of knowledge (or lack of it), was demonstrated through the constant twists and turns
throughout the film. In dystopian environments, knowledge is a limited resource ... Show more

When Neo escaped from the Matrix, he joined up with Morpheus and a few others, with the eventual
goal of bringing down the Matrix and releasing everybody being kept prisoner by it. This shows the
power those who are oppressed can have when they gain knowledge they are not supposed to have,
and this is an issue explored in dystopian worlds. Neo took the red pill, a decision I too would have
made. This revealed to us Neo s thirst for knowledge and to what extent he was willing to go to gain
information. In my opinion Neo made the correct decision in selecting the red pill. I feel that someone
who strives for perfection, and somebody who strives to always do better should have the same thirst
for knowledge that Neo had. When the question was initially asked of Neo, I did not see how he could
turn it down; being given the chance to learn one of the biggest secrets on your planet, to me, was too
good an opportunity to turn down. As a consequence of this it did not shock me when Neo decided to

Johns Reflection And Gibbs Reflection in Nursing Practice
Introduction: In this essay, I will discuss several issues that seem to bind nursing practice with
questions of ethics, sociology and management. Reflective practice is an important aspect of nursing
management and in this essay we discuss implications of discrimination in nursing care and examine
the importance of anti discriminatory perspectives in nursing. In this paper, the case study I will
elaborate is of an elderly woman who was of a non British ethnic origin and spoke little English. A
junior nurse visited her home to provide care but her attitude towards the patient has been
discriminatory and abrupt, a situation that calls for serious reflection on the issues of racial
discrimination at the clinical setting. The patient was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gustaffson and Fagerberg point out that reflective practice has relevance for clinical practice as by
understanding the contents of nurses reflections, it is also possible to understand the advantages of
reflective practice and how and when such measures should be used by the nurses for further
professional development. Fairley (2005) gives a consultant nurse perspective of a clinical role in
critical care unit that has evolved as a central feature of all surgical high dependency units (SDHU) in
large teaching hospital trusts. Advanced nursing practice is perceived not as the acquisition and
application of technical procedures which are usually undertaken by doctors, but also an integration of
medicine and nursing where holistic nursing assessment and symptom focused physical examination
go hand in hand. Fairley presents a reflective account of practical problems encountered relating to
role integration, professional autonomy, legal and consent issues, non medical prescribing, and role
evaluation (Fairley, 2005). The paper successfully describes a model of nursing applied to high
dependency units integrating the role of the advanced nurse practitioner within the medical and
clinical team an reflective practice plays an important role by being the main method of evaluation of
a consultant nurse perspective. In a

Slavery and The Tropicalia Movement in Brazil
Starting in 1538, nearly four million Africans were taken from Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Congo and
Mozambique to be forced into slavery in Brazil s sugar plantations and mining industries. The slave
trade was eradicated in 1850, and by 1871 the Brazilian legislature passed the Law of the Free Womb.
This law was designed to grant freedom to slave s newborn children and served as a precursor to the
abolition of slavery in 1888. They made home for themselves in Brazil, as it had the largest amount of
African diaspora. Former slaves and their descendants established an Afro Brazilian culture and the
cultural traditions, notably musical, brought along with them inevitably mingled with those of Brazil.
They brought new rhythmic complexities and melodic patterns with them, and were recognized for
using music as way of bringing people together through communal participation. Their musical
traditions have maintained very well preserved and were legitimate contributions to Brazil s culture.
Afro Brazilian influences became fundamental components for a new generation of musicians in
Brazil, and pride in their African roots flourished for the first time.
On a typical evening in Brazil, an overabundance of vibrant rhythms and people on every corner are
embellished in eccentric fashion filled the streets. Percussion beats, bells, trumpets, whistles and other
instruments sound through the streets as people dance or play along. Music is a defining factor of
identity in Brazilian culture.

Leg Dominance Paper
A difference between left and right leg is observed in many individuals as defined one as dominant leg
and another as non dominant leg. Leg dominance is usually defined from a limb preference to perform
a motor task depending on a nature of the specific tasks (manipulation or stabilization) such as
kicking, highest jumping, stepping up, or unipedal standing (Mcgrath et al 2016). A preferred kicking
leg is famously used to classify leg dominance in various lower limb asymmetrical studies. In strength
and performance studies, the literatures showed no significant differences between dominant and non
dominant leg in active adult population (Brown et al 2004, Daneshjoo et al 2012, Delextrat et al 2013,
de Ruiter et al 2010). In addition to a postural control study showed no differences in sway area and
sway path length between dominant and non dominant leg during unipedal standing (Hoffman et al
1998). Although most studies showed no leg dominance effects ... Show more content on

In the current study, we were interested to use a principal component analysis (PCA) with kinematics
marker data to study leg dominance effect on postural control during performing one leg stance. The
idea of PCA is to define a coordinate marker system in a high dimensional vector space that contains
all information about a posture. Investigating the movement component and the postural correction by
quantifying the frequency and regularity of neuromuscular interventions during one leg standing with
dominant and non dominant leg could present how the body controls its posture. A better
understanding of what constitutes leg dominance on a neuro muscular level has applications in
rehabilitation. The purposes of the study were to compare the size of movement components (relative
eigenvalue) and postural corrections (number of zero crossings and standard deviation of time
between zero crossings) in both leg dominance and gender

The Stanford Prison Experiment And Philip G Zimbardo
In chapter two, we study the research methods of different psychological experiments and studies.
This includes the ethical obligations of researchers toward the participants in their research, which are
enforced by institutional review boards at American research colleges and universities. In these
studies, researchers are required to provide the following: (a) informed consent of the purpose of the
research, its expected duration, and any potential risks, discomfort, or adverse associated with it ; (b)
protection for harm and discomfort; (c) knowledge of deception in a study and debriefing once the
study has concluded. These obligations are required to protect research participants. However, these
are not always followed in research. In the 2015 movie, The Stanford Prison Experiment , audiences
are shown a reenactment of the notorious true story. In August of 1971, psychologist, Philip G.
Zimbardo, at Stanford University was interested on the psychological effect that prison s have on

from the experiment for traumatic experiences by day four. As the experiment continued, the guards
only became more tyrannical while the prisoners become more unhinged. This forced Dr. Zimbardo to

Edgar Allan Poe s Influence On The Raven
Edgar Allan Poe was born January 19th, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts where he was faced with a
tragedy at a very young age. He had to face the abandonment by his father and losing his mother as an
infant. However, Poe was adopted at the age of three by John and Frances Allan who raised him into
his adult years. Poe became a writer during the romantic era, but his creations were considered gothic
romantic. Some of his pieces of works included: Lenore, The Haunted Palace, The City in the Sea, A
Dream Within a Dream, The Raven, and much more.
The Raven was written in 1845 and is a poem of darkness, sorrow, heartache, and fear. The poem

If I were the narrator of the poem I would not mind the raven being perched over my chamber door
and I would merely ignore it. Once the raven enters my chambers, I would marvel at the small
creature that was so brave as to venture into the house. However, like the narrator I would be
questionable while it perched on the bust of Pallas. Obviously the narrator was spooked because of the
tapping he had heard earlier, though it should not have caused him to act so harshly towards the raven.
The raven could have been the symbol of death or the raven could not have been a symbol at all.
Overall Poe wrote a poem many could possibly relate to, changing your perspective and putting
yourself into the author or narrator s mind is very difficult to do. The troubling thought of having lost
a love is relatable, however, I personally do not understand the sudden change of mood the narrator
seemed to have. Possibly if it were me I would have ignored the tapping and fell right into a dreamless

Tiepolo Allegory
The artwork that got my most attention would be Giovanni Battista Tiepolo s An Allegory
Representing the Glory and Magnanimity of Princes . The painting started as a fresco on a wall, then
later transferred to a canvas. When you see it in real life its very immense in its linear height. The
work includes two life size human sculptors standing on a monolith or obelisk that is pointing to the
heavens. One of the sculptors of a man was represented as a warrior, because Tiepolo paints him with
armor while sitting on a scared looking lion. This show the prowess and superiority over a great beast,
a beast the usually creates fear in humans. Then Tiepolo achieves balance by painting a sculpture of a
woman next to the warrior. The painting of the woman can be interpreted as being elegant and
appropriate compared to the sculptor of the man. This can easily be seen on the painting, as the
woman is standing above the man and being look down on. The most noticeable element of the
artwork is the amazing eye popping illusion that makes your brain think its third dimensional. By
giving contrast and shadowing it elevated this affect that made ... Show more content on

woman represents nobility, which means magnanimity and before the research I didn t know what that

Communication And Its Effects On Employees s Perceptions...
Introduction
Communication and its effects on employee s perceptions towards organizational changes have been
extensively studied. Communication, if poorly managed, can lead to negative consequences including
employee s frustration, uncertainty, change contempt (Frahm Brown (2007), Bordia, Hunt, Paulsen
(2004)), psychological strain, low job satisfaction, and increase in turnover intention (Bordia, Hunt,
Paulsen (2004)). If effectively managed, communication can result in multiple positive effects such as
employee s positive perception towards change process, change acceptance (Frahm Brown (2007)),
perception of justice within the organization (Nese (2014)), and change based momentum (Jansen
(2004)). In this paper, I would like to explore how two communication approaches programmatic and
participatory can be used to improve employee s positive perceptions towards organizational changes.
The paper is divided into three sections. It starts with a summary of employee s perceptions towards
organizational changes. The effects of communication on employee s perceptions towards
organizational changes will follow. The last section is a comparison of the strengths and weaknesses
of programmatic and participatory approaches through the analysis of empirical studies.

When games are not taking place, the solar installations at the stadia will export energy onto the power

Character Comparison: Macbeth Throne of Blood
In the tragic play by Shakespeare, The Tragedy of Macbeth Macbeth, and the Japanese film, Throne of
Blood, many characters are direct parallels of each other. There are many similarities and yet, key
differences within each of the characters. Macbeth and Washizu share many of the same character
traits, as do their wives, Lady Macbeth and Asaji, respectively. We can also see these similarities
between Banquo and Miki and the three witches and the Forest Spirit. Macbeth and Washizu are

They both have the will to manipulate and command the actions of their husbands and show

Macbeth and Asaji. Lady Macbeth s mental health takes longer to decline into almost complete
insanity. We see Lady Macbeth struggling with her position after becoming Queen. She is stressed
about keeping the throne secure and is not as happy as she thought she might be. It takes a while but
eventually she cracks and has somewhat of a mental breakdown. Asaji on the other hand keeps her
composure throughout most of the film. She is obviously concerned about succeeding in her
endeavors but she was able to keep her focus unlike Lady Macbeth. It is only very suddenly that she
suffers the same fate as Lady Macbeth. Both women are found washing nonexistent blood from their
hands while sleepwalking. One other crucial difference between the two women is their role as women
within their respective societies. Lady Macbeth does not wish to be treated like a woman at all. At one
point in the play she even says, Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill
me from the crown to the toe topful of direst cruelty! (Shakespeare 1.5:40 44) Asaji takes a vastly

Part 3 Pros Organic foods is good for nature. According to big oven.com, organic farms produce less
waste and use less energy compared to inorganic farms. Synthetic pesticides that are used in
conventional food can harm local wildlife. Organic farms make sure that their animals are fed a
natural diet and kept in free range conditions .
Rebuttal Conventional food waste can be reused in the farms where conventional foods are grown. If
this is done then farmers can spray their fruits and vegetables with less pesticides because it is already
in the soil and fights off bugs.
Conclusion Overall, organic food is worth buying which is healthy for the body and helps the
environment. Conventional foods are affordable that last long, and are protected from bacteria and
insects. Now that you have information on the two, how would you choose?

Marginalism Of John Bates Clark
Quiz 1 Do you agree or disagree with the analysis states below I disagree with the analysis that state
the irrationality of Marginalism of John Bates Clark. Clark was a neoclassical economist who was
denying the pro of capitalist but later shift to support it. Clarke s analysis on his opposition to the
Marginalism theory have three main arguments; people must take society into account, we cannot
calculate everything, and we don t know the value of everything so we can t calculate the value of

looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory
and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of
people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . In reality, what s the theory implied is that

Search Engine Optimization Essay
Getting What You Pay for: How Much is too Much for SEO?
Whether you own a business or agency in Toronto, Montreal, or Ottawa, you may already have given
some thought to the topic of search engine optimization (SEO). Unless you are a digital marketing
expert, you cannot provide your brand with the kind of online optimization required to get consistently
high rankings. That is why businesses rely on professionals to perform this necessary function.
One of the top misconceptions that many businesses have is that SEO services should be delivered at a
cheap rate. Why is this? There may be a few major factors that contribute to this fallacy. First, many
business marketers seem to be largely uninformed about the importance of SEO in terms of ... Show

Instead of outranking your competitors, which was the reason you decided to hire an SEO firm in the
first place, you might get outdated or ineffective link building. In fact, if the practices you paid for are
implemented unethically, you might even be deindexed or penalized by Google.
Instead of asking how much is too much for SEO, the more appropriate question might be: How much
is too little? You will not get the SEO results you expect for $10 a month or even $100 per month.
When SEO is done correctly, it is a complex process that involves an assortment of factors. To be
carried out effectively, quality SEO requires many hours of work. If you are not paying at least several
hundred dollars monthly, you might as well focus your marketing efforts on Google AdWords. Once
you can afford to pay for quality SEO services, you can enjoy higher rankings and gain an edge on the
competition.
Paying for Service Packages
If you have ever shopped around for SEO services, you have almost certainly seen general packages
available. These packages are often intended to provide clients with options, but what they typically
do is exclude necessary services unless clients pay the top price. If you choose one of the lower priced
packages, you might not get citations or backlinks. The plan that will truly benefit you is usually going
to be the highest priced option, and that could take many

Comparing Angela s Ashes And Huckleberry Finn
The importance of community and the charity of strangers is very prominent in Angela s Ashes and
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The way that strangers treat them compared to how their own
families act is a large difference. Strangers tend to be more charitable and kind, but their families don t
seem to care as much about them. The way their families treat them in both stories is negative. In
Angela s Ashes Malachy and Angela are distant parents. Malachy drinks and doesn t bring money
home. In Frank s teenage years his father leaves for London one day and never comes back. When
Frank s little siblings die his mother closes herself off and refuses to eat or drink or even get out of
bed. Even Frank s grandparents, aunts and uncles treat him and his siblings poorly. They are viewed as
outsiders on his mother s side for being from the north and on his father s side for being from the
south. Frank and his siblings are seen as outsiders in even their own families because of who they are.
Their own families seem to be their greatest critics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One night his father breaks into his room at the Widow s house and insults Huck repeatedly. He bullies
Huck for looking nice and learning how to read. Huck s father Pap uses Huck s supposed wealth as an
excuse to take his son back. Pap takes advantage of his son Huck by taking him back into his care to
receive the money belonging to Huck. All Pap seems to care about is the money he could receive.
When Pap takes Huck to his cabin Huck is physically abused. At one point Pap chases Huck around
threatening to kill him. Huck lives in constant fear of his father and his father s drinking because of
the violent way he s treated by his only family

This sad scene is familiar to many people all around the world: parents often think that games are useless time killers and that teens do not get anything from it that could be used in the academic world. Despite the widespread opinion, it is not true. In fact, video games are one of many other non academic interests which make people so called street smart and it is largely underestimated intelligence. Jung And Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality There are many psychoanalytical theories on personality that have been observed and studied from many perspectives with differing and varying views having been debated on and discussed against on how best to tackle development and therapy of the mind. In the following paper, I will touch on a few of the great minds that attempted to encapsulate an understanding of traits and the environmental and biological associations attributed with those traits that purportedly make up our understanding of personality. Carl Jung is considered one of the pioneers of contemporary psychiatry and the study into the consciousness. Jung s particular view of psychology from an analytical standpoint does not place him fully within the area of behavioral psychology or cognitive psychology. What is now known as the Jungian Theory was born from Carl Jung s beliefs that all humans share what is known as a collective unconscious in which is contains common ideas or archetypes (Wade, Tavris, 2012). With this came Jung s idea of introversion and extroversion within the basic personality. Carl Jung in many ways was similar to Sigmund Freud, however the two shared many theoretical differences. Much of what Jung brought to the world of psychology has been used among the beliefs of many New Age practices (Wade, Tavris, 2012) and as such Jung s work been considered highly controversial in many psychology circles. • 11. The Human Mind In George Eliot s I Grant You Ample Leave Imagine a person is asked to flip a coin. He is given three chances to guess whether the coin will land on heads or tails. The first two flips, he guesses heads and both times the coin lands on tails. Certainly the third time, the guesser believes, the coin must land on heads. He follows his instinct, and he is wrong again. This scenario is just one example of the human mind attempting to impose a pattern on a random phenomenon. People love patterns and order, so we create societies, institutions, and artificial concepts like time. The human brain sees a man on the moon and seeks out information confirming its hypotheses (and ignores support for the oppositions). George Eliot critiques this beneficial, but also limiting, skill of the human mind. In I Grant You Ample Leave, she argues that humans perceive pattern and connection where there is none. Line 6 of I Grant You Ample Leave asserts that You link false inference with, the Since so (Eliot, 6). Within these few words, Eliot describes her audience with an emphatic pronoun. She then retains her audience s attention using unorthodox styles such as enjambment and blank verse. Finally, she employs a logogram, the ampersand, as a symbol of her poem s argument. Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed of dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia. Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998). Pathogenesis: Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first identified in humans and later in dogs and Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle. Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). Advanced nursing practice is perceived not as the acquisition and application of technical procedures which are usually undertaken by doctors, but also an integration of medicine and nursing where holistic nursing assessment and symptom focused physical examination go hand in hand. Fairley presents a reflective account of practical problems encountered relating to role integration, professional autonomy, legal and consent issues, non medical prescribing, and role evaluation (Fairley, 2005). Slavery and The Tropicalia Movement in Brazil Starting in 1538, nearly four million Africans were taken from Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Congo and Mozambique to be forced into slavery in Brazil s sugar plantations and mining industries. The slave trade was eradicated in 1850, and by 1871 the Brazilian legislature passed the Law of the Free Womb. This law was designed to grant freedom to slave s newborn children and served as a precursor to the abolition of slavery in 1888. They made home for themselves in Brazil, as it had the largest amount of African diaspora. Former slaves and their descendants established an Afro Brazilian culture and the cultural traditions, notably musical, brought along with them inevitably mingled with those of Brazil. They brought new rhythmic complexities and melodic patterns with them, and were recognized for using music as way of bringing people together through communal participation. Their musical traditions have maintained very well preserved and were legitimate contributions to Brazil s culture. Afro Brazilian influences became fundamental components for a new generation of musicians in Brazil, and pride in their African roots flourished for the first time. On a typical evening in Brazil, an overabundance of vibrant rhythms and people on every corner are embellished in eccentric fashion filled the streets. • 23. Leg Dominance Paper A difference between left and right leg is observed in many individuals as defined one as dominant leg and another as non dominant leg. Leg dominance is usually defined from a limb preference to perform a motor task depending on a nature of the specific tasks (manipulation or stabilization) such as kicking, highest jumping, stepping up, or unipedal standing (Mcgrath et al 2016). A preferred kicking leg is famously used to classify leg dominance in various lower limb asymmetrical studies. In strength and performance studies, the literatures showed no significant differences between dominant and non dominant leg in active adult population (Brown et al 2004, Daneshjoo et al 2012, Delextrat et al 2013, de Ruiter et al 2010). In addition to a postural control study showed no differences in sway area and sway path length between dominant and non dominant leg during unipedal standing (Hoffman et al 1998). Investigating the movement component and the postural correction by quantifying the frequency and regularity of neuromuscular interventions during one leg standing with dominant and non dominant leg could present how the body controls its posture. A better understanding of what constitutes leg dominance on a neuro muscular level has applications in rehabilitation. This includes the ethical obligations of researchers toward the participants in their research, which are enforced by institutional review boards at American research colleges and universities. In these studies, researchers are required to provide the following: (a) informed consent of the purpose of the research, its expected duration, and any potential risks, discomfort, or adverse associated with it ; (b) protection for harm and discomfort; (c) knowledge of deception in a study and debriefing once the study has concluded. These obligations are required to protect research participants. However, these are not always followed in research. In the 2015 movie, The Stanford Prison Experiment , audiences are shown a reenactment of the notorious true story. In August of 1971, psychologist, Philip G. The painting started as a fresco on a wall, then later transferred to a canvas. When you see it in real life its very immense in its linear height. The work includes two life size human sculptors standing on a monolith or obelisk that is pointing to the heavens. One of the sculptors of a man was represented as a warrior, because Tiepolo paints him with armor while sitting on a scared looking lion. This show the prowess and superiority over a great beast, a beast the usually creates fear in humans. Then Tiepolo achieves balance by painting a sculpture of a woman next to the warrior. The painting of the woman can be interpreted as being elegant and appropriate compared to the sculptor of the man. Communication, if poorly managed, can lead to negative consequences including employee s frustration, uncertainty, change contempt (Frahm Brown (2007), Bordia, Hunt, Paulsen (2004)), psychological strain, low job satisfaction, and increase in turnover intention (Bordia, Hunt, Paulsen (2004)). If effectively managed, communication can result in multiple positive effects such as employee s positive perception towards change process, change acceptance (Frahm Brown (2007)), perception of justice within the organization (Nese (2014)), and change based momentum (Jansen (2004)). In this paper, I would like to explore how two communication approaches programmatic and participatory can be used to improve employee s positive perceptions towards organizational changes. The paper is divided into three sections. It starts with a summary of employee s perceptions towards organizational changes. The effects of communication on employee s perceptions towards organizational changes will follow. The last section is a comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of programmatic and participatory approaches through the analysis of empirical studies.
