Putnam s Claims About The World Are False If One Were A
Biv
Putnam argues against the Cartesian belief that all of one s claims about the world
are false if one were a BIV. Putnam instead argues that one s claims about the world
are true even if one was a BIV because a BIV s claims are consistent with what it
appears to be experiencing. However, Putnam also acknowledges that although a BIV
s claims about its world are seemingly true, its claims differ in reference, meaning and
in truthfrom those made by a non BIV. Putnam supports this claim by arguing that
one cannot reference a type of object unless one comes into causal contact with it. A
BIV, in this scenario is said to live in a world in which the only objects are brains, a
vat, and a laboratory containing supercomputers that stimulate the envatted
Monsanto Chapter 1
I read chapter 8, Media and Technology , out of the sociology textbook. Section 1
talks about the tech we use in society. Technology has been which in our society
since the stone age. The knowledge gap, which is a gap between those who have and
don t have technology, is predominant within our society. Some people don t have the
access to new tech, due to financial troubles, race, gender, etc.
This in turn has created a digital divide , an uneven access to technological wonders.
Some of the digital divide can be explained by either demographic and community
level characteristics, or how technology has become more mobile. Net neutrality is
debated among people, some say that data should be private, or analyzed.
Section 2 deals with technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

three types of patents exist to protect inventions and discoveries to be replicated or

The first type is Utility Patents. This patent pertains to new processes, products or
machines. The second patent is a Design Patent. This protects original logos and
designs from being used by someone else. The third and last patent type is a Plant
Patent. This patent recognizes plants either by genetically modifications, discovering
exotic plants, and new hybrids of plants. Monsanto, a food company, created a new
type of corn with natural pesticides, which was patent in 2011.
There are a lot of different media and technologies. The first is print, which means
books, magazines, newspapers, and even e books. The second type is TV and
radio. Anything that is broadcasted by TV, or a radio show is classified under this
type. Back in the 1970s, ABC, NBC and CBS dominated television. Public TV
offers a non profit alternative to what we watch. PBS and BBC have a reputation
of having a more global perspective. Film is another type of media. The industry
took off in the 30s with the advent of sound and color. People would gather and
crowd theatres to watch the new releases. These movies illustrate society s fears,
dreams and experiences. The last type of media is New Media, which includes
social networks, blogs, podcasts, and virtual worlds. The list grows daily, and the info
Film Analysis Of Remember The Titans
Remember the Titans Introduction Remember the Titans directed by Boaz Yakin, is
an inspirational feature film that retells the true story of a high school football team
that overcame racism to win the football championship. Set in Virginia during the
forced integration of high school districts in the American south, the film explores the
idea of racism, friendship and communication in sports through the use of camera
shots and angles, props, body language and juxtaposition. Yakin suggests that racist
attitudes are the product of ignorance, but can be overcome by communication and
friendship through the representation of Gary s girlfriend, Emma s change of attitude
toward Julius. Yakin s representation of Coach Boone... Show more content on

Furthermore, Yakin uses body language and a close up when Emma introduces
herself to Julius at the end of the film. Yakin s use of close up on Emma s
outstretched hand has the effect of symbolising Emma s change in attitude toward
Julius. Through Gary s example, Emma has become more tolerant and accepting
of Julius because she no longer subscribes to racial stereotypes about African
Americans. Clearly Yakin intends to condemn racist attitudes and reinforcing the
value of communications and friendship. As a result of his representation, the film
has positioned me to accept people even if someone has a different personality,
instead of being injustice and unfair. Body Paragraph #2 Remember the Titans
explores the idea of friendship through the use of camera angles and shots, props,
body language and lighting. During the sequence when Gary and Julius are telling
each other what they are doing wrong in the game, Yakin suggests that friendship
promotes tolerance and acceptance, and empowers people to achieve their goals as
well as overcome adversity. Yakin uses close up of the two players arguing,
showing their frustration and anger toward each other. Julius tells Gary Attitude
reflects leadership. Taking his advice the next day, Gary and the others played well
because they learned to play like an actual team. Yakin s use of body language and
facial expression has the effect of representing Gary and Julius anger toward one
another, as both of them are frustrated
Solutions To The Salutary Neglect Of The American
Colonies
Great Britain s longest ruling monarch before Queen Victoria, King George III
ascended the British throne in 1760, during turbulent times in which, brought about
several oppressive and abusive actions towards the thirteen colonies. Salutary neglect:
a policy of non interference, enabled the American colonies to prosper by trading
products. Nevertheless, when the French and Indian War had finally come to an end,
the British had severe debt and was left with possible solutions which only revolved
around taxing the colonies. Furthermore, the Royal Proclamation: a document that set
out guidelines for European settlement of Aboriginal territories, had infuriated the
colonies and they protested that the Proclamation deprived them of land known as
their God given right. In 1774, the British Parliament passed harsh and unbearable
laws known as the Intolerable Actswhich were meant to punish American colonists
for the Boston Tea Partyand other protests. Overall, the colonists were very wrathful
regarding all acts and did not want the British Empireruling over them. To summarize,
in the short span of thirteen years, the colonies went from being loyal subjects of
King George III to becoming rebels capable of overthrowing the most dominant
military nation on earth. To begin with, salutary neglect was an unauthorized, but a
long lasting British policy of avoiding harsh enforcement of parliamentary laws
indicated to keep the American colonies obedient to Great Britain. The policy
La Dolce Vita Essay
In La Dolce Vita, Alain Cuny plays Steiner, Marcello s affluent and intellectual
confidante, role model, and for lack of a better term: hero. Steiner lives in a home
filled with pieces of art with his beautiful wife and two perfect children. He is a
character that is cordial and respectful to all those around him. In a scene where
the two friends enter a church together, Steiner plays Bach on the church organ and
urges Marcello to have more faith in himself and finish his book. The following
day, Marcello attends a party along with numerous artists and intellectuals at Steiner
s home. At one point, the two friends speak about how life is to be lived, where
Marcello asks Steiner how one can abandon his or her materialistic lifestyle. Steiner
ambivalently states, Safety is not being locked up in one s home. He continues on by
exclaiming that a miserable life is more preferable than existence in an organized
society. A quiet guitar soundtrack is heard in the background, adding to the tone of
the conversation between the two friends.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only does he kill himself but he also kills his two young children. Marcello is
astounded by his friend s suicide, because of Steiner s warmth, sincerity, and
respect for those he loved. To Marcello, Steiner was his only ticket out of
journalism, a life he so despises at this point. The loss is not for Marcello though
rather it is for Steiner. He reflects an unfortunate reality an artist and intellectual
lives through a darkened world that his imagination made even darker. Steiner
represents a life that many celebrities live with today, one that is detached from
society and genuine relations, which can ultimately lead to its own termination.
Steiner, who is identified as a hero and role model to Marcello in the beginning of
the film, is essentially useless in helping his friend and prodigy transition into a
tabloid journalist and reach a life of full

Siddhartha And Mccandless Comparison
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse tells a story of a boy named Siddhartha who went
on a journey to find peace and happiness among the Samanas. Throughout the book,
Siddhartha s life is explained and what he encounters along the way. Into the Wild
by Jon Krakauer tells a story of a boy named Chris McCandless who was set on
taking a road trip to Alaska as soon as he graduated from high school. He left
everything behind and went on his journey, leaving no trace behind. Throughout
Siddhartha and McCandless journey s they both encounter many similarities and
differences. [Thesis] Similarly, McCandless and Siddhartha have a relationship with

Although Siddhartha didn t struggle with a relationship between his mother and
father but McCandless did. Siddhartha waited for his father s permission before
embarking on his spiritual journey. Instead, McCandless headed right towards his
journey leaving nothing for his family behind. Upon their journey, both
McCandless and Siddhartha dealt with the issue of abandonment and separation.
In Siddhartha s life, he became separated from his best friend, Govinda in order to
become a Samana. Siddhartha also experienced the sorrow of losing his own son
just like Siddhartha s father had experienced among his own son, while
McCandless chose the life of abandonment and isolation. McCandless broke off all
ties with his friends he met along the journey. Correspondingly, Siddhartha and
McCandless both experienced an ascetic lifestyle upon their arrival. Siddhartha
believed in losing his Self in order to find his Self. He went through pain and
suffering just like McCandless did on his last few days in the Alaskan wilderness.
Towards the end of their journey, Siddhartha didn t believe in idealism and
materialism, he knew nothing would satisfy him if he stayed with his father.
Therefore Siddhartha pursued a journey with nothing but his friend, Govinda.
McCandless knew staying at home would not satisfy him, therefore he went on his
own. McCandless gave up everything but all the supplies he could fit into his
backpack and went on his journey. Siddhartha and McCandless were more similar in
more ways than one, but they had their differences that made them who they
Theodor Herzl
Initially, Zionism was the major cause of the formation of the State of Israel. It was
established by Theodor Herzl in 1897 and later led by Chaim Weizmann. Mr. Herzl
was an assimilated Jewish lawyer from Vienna that fully understood the Jews. He
quoted once, Zionism demands for a publicly recognized and legally secured
homeland in Palestine for the Jews. This platform is unchangeable . The quote
means that Zionism was established to request and achieve a homeland for the Jews
in Palestine and that no one can stop this from happening. Basically, this proves that
Mr. Herzl was a very supportive man towards the Jews and He understood what they
needed. In 1894, Mr. Herzl was sent to France to investigate on the life imprisonment

Architecture Of The Colosseum
Once the Colosseum had been built, it seems to have become the model for many, if
not most, of those that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum
stands proudly upon the villainous Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden
House, projecting the munificence of Imperial Roman Architecture. Its ultimate
design could be said to be formed through purpose or function. However, this does not
do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman society (Thornton and
Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions, whether it be religious or otherwise, of the
Colosseumwere irrelevant to the ultimate design of the architecture, as the
architectural features contained within the Colosseum s ultimate design created an
instant archetype, a marker of Romanness across the empire (Hopkins and Beard
2005, 25). The clever use of the classical orders and façades, and adaptation of
existing Roman architecture of the period allowed the Colosseum to become a model
for many subsequent Roman amphitheatres, whilst showing the ingenuity of Roman
architecture of the period.
The architectural vocabulary of the Colosseum saw the clever use of existing Roman
design practices to create a final structure which became a precedent for all
Amphitheatres which followed. Thus, highlighting the overriding importance of the
aesthetics the ultimate design displayed. The importance of the appearance in the
final design s architecture begins with the conventions which were used for
Essay on Black Theology
The development of Black Theology in the United was one that shocked the
nation as a whole. While in slavery, Blacks had to sneak and hold church services.
This was partly because Whites felt that Blacks were not able to be accepted into
heaven, and they believed that once one as a Christian they could no longer be
enslaved. So to appease their conscience they would not allow Blacks to take part in
theology. Due to these issues Black Theology soon originated within the United
States. The origination of Black Theology was only cracked open by the idea of
slave theology. The origination of Black Theology first began when churches began
to become segregated. Many could not understand how Whites could continue to

The idea of Black Theology was to redefine the meaning and role of church and
religion in the lives of Black people. The theology of Blacks came to be because of
racism, injustice, inhumanity, and inequality. Black Theology was created out of
a liberal struggle for political freedom and of the development by the black
religious experience. Throughout the development of Black Theology and the
black church a sensitive topic has risen. Many feel that there is a large amount of
sexuality throughout the black church. Four hundreds of years a major discussion
raised among people has been the issue of sexuality as well as the black church,
furthermore the combined idea of sexuality in the black church. Many theologians
as well as philosophers have tried to grasp and place meaning to the connection
that exist as well as the problem within sexuality in the black church. Blacks are
known as sexual beings so obviously one would assume that there is an association
of sexuality in the African church. This idea is even seen in a black church worship
experience. In a black worship experience the pastor is seen as a ministerial
Casanova who sends ambivalent messages to the congregation speaking the ills of
adulterous relationships. But then he proceeds to pursue a relationship with one of
the congregation members. Many argue that we need to recover erotic uses our black
bodies. In the book Sexuality and the Black Church
Investment Vehicles For Emerging Muslim Economy
Investment Vehicles for Emerging Muslim Economy: Which is which? Introduction
Capital market play vital role in financial growth. Mutual fund is one of the
securitization vehicles that commonly practice in today s modern economics
environment. Levy and Post (2005) mentioned investors, regardless of the type of
investment they choose, have one common goal which is to get return out of their
investment. Investors often have risk and return trade off in determining their desire
return. Thus, it is important to understand the financial stance of the investors in
order to determine types of investments that suit them. This essay s aim first to
discuss 2 types of mutual funds, open end and close end investment. Going further is
to relate them with the emerging Muslim s economy conditions. It is believed that
Muslim s economy is way far behind due to their weakness in the capital market.

due to their concern of the financial instrument principle which seems to them
contradict with the Islamic law. Second to suggest the type of funds that suitable for

Roy is a good friend to Mullet Fingers before he even meets him. This is one example
of how Roy was a good friend to Mullet Fingers. Roy first saw the boy, Mullet
Fingers, running on the sidewalk beside the school bus. Roy thought he was running
to get to the bus on time. However, he wasn t wearing shoes or a backpack. Later
on, Roy follows him and decides to give him a pair of his shoes. Here is another
good example of Roy s friendship with Mullet Fingers. Later on in the story, Roy
gets to know a little bit more about Mullet Fingers. Beatrice Leep tells Roy that
Mullet Fingers mom and her dad met at a golf tournament and decided to get
married. His mom thought he was a bother to her new husband so she sent him to
a military school. Within the first two weeks of school, Mullet Fingers ran away
and went back home. His mother tried to send him to several other boarding
schools and he ran away from them, too. Finally, he ran away and didn t come
home. His mother noticed that he ran away but didn t want to do anything about
it. Her husband didn t even notice the tuition bills stopped coming! Beatrice and
Mullet Fingers made Roy swear to keep all of this a secret. This is another example
of Roy being kind to Mullet Fingers. Sadly, Mullet Fingers became ill and had to go

The marketing of the Chevrolet Voltwill be protected by this assignment, but there are
some important factors to consider.
General Motors and the EV1
At the turn of the 20th century, General Motors had developed the EV1. The EV1
was a plug in vehicle that relied solely on an electrical battery as its source of
power. This vehicle which had generated lots of hype, such as the Chevrolet Volt is
now, never made it into production. This result has caused many enthusiastic
electrical powered potential buyers to be weary of the production of the Chevrolet
Volt because of the heartbreak they suffered a decade ago. Additionally, analysts on
Wall Street deemed the EV1 a massive failure because of the non commercial
production of the vehicle.
Trying to understand why this vehicle failed to reach its potential is absolutely
necessary in the development of the Chevrolet Volt s marketing strategy. The primary
problem with the EV1 from a marketing perspective was the product itself. Unlike the
Volt, GM s EV1 didn t have the capability to use other fuel sources when the battery
died, but instead just died. Therefore, the product design of the vehicle was not
aligned with customer s expectations that had to make normal commutes throughout
the day. Another key factor was that the marketing of for this product was almost non
existent. Other than a few appearances at car shows and a television commercial that
Review Of The Defense Of Cover Songs
Don Cusic argues in his article, In Defense of Cover Songs, that cover artists
should be awarded the same legitimacy as songwriters, while critics believe
otherwise, saying that singers should write their own music. Cusic believes that
being a cover artist does not take away any credibility from he or she as an artist.
Cover songs have existed for just as long as original music and they prove to be an
outlet for singers who are not able to write their own songs. Even great music
legends such as Ella Fitzgerald and Elvis Presley have created cover songs. Cover
songs are so relevant because they are still currently taking place in the time that is
lived in today. This article is able to shed light on this topic. Cusic is pioneer in Music

Cusic then lets the reader know that cover songs are able to be hits in several genres
at once, even though they are not performed by the same artist.
Then, Cusic asserts that a cover song is a history lesson for a new audience that
has never heard the original song. These new songs and hits are able to generate
new revenue from their sales and they also generate a new market for cover artists.
Cover songs are also beneficial because listeners enjoy hearing a new artist perform
familiar music to get them acquainted with that artist. Cusic also goes on to explain
how buyers may feel cheated when they buy an entire album, buy they only enjoy
the hit single. He then states that just because an artist has added is or her own
written songs on an album, it does not mean that those songs will be his or her
strongest. Cusic now informs the reader that there have been songwriters who write
songs specifically for other artists to sing. There have even been artists who have
accepted their talents as a singer and not a songwriter, not feeling the need to be a co
writer on their albums. He then moves on to say that if an artist is caught in a time
warp, he or she should find great recordings to cover. Doing so does not make he or
she any less of an artist. Little Richard was not given the recognition that he deserved
due to the segregation of the times. Instead, singers who covered his songs received
the credit. Singers have

normative group, which consisted of participants taking the MAT for the first time
from January 1st, 2008 through December 31st, 2011(Meagher, Ybarra, etc., 2017).
It does not cost anything to administer the test because someone cannot choose to
administer the test individually, the MAT is only administered at certain Controlled
Testing Centers (CTC). Controlled Testing Centers are usually colleges and
universities that are testing students that are trying to get into graduate school. The fee
to take the exam varies from CTC to CTC but it averages to around $75. Other fees
include alternative testing site which is $149, the replacement score report fee is
$25 per report, additional transcript fee $25 per transcript, and the score verification
fee is $35 (Fees and Optional Services, 2017).
The MAT has pronounced availability to take the test. The MAT does not have any
fixed national test dates. Every CTC decides when and how often it administers the
test. Participants plan directly with the CTC on when it is most convenient for them
to take the test. The CTCs are set up so that the colleges and universities can test their
own students. All tests administers are provided with a manual of directions to

Power Imbalances
I found the article by Parker to be a wonderful and insightful view of the nursing
profession. I found the notion that nursing practices inherently contribute to
imbalances of power thought provoking. I believe that these imbalances come from a
multitude of reasons that have been entrenched within our history. I believe that the
past hierarchical approach to our healthcare system has significantly influenced power
imbalances. Additionally, nurses listening to doctors without question and
participating often in roles associated with being matriarchal, and caring, while
doctors have been viewed as the patriarchy or more so in leadership type positions
has been influential to our past. There was also a certain degree of incongruity

Twenty-One Pilots
Twenty One Pilots, a alternative rock duo from Columbus, Ohio, rose to fame very
quickly after forming in 2009. The duo is known for their subtle double meaning in
their catchy songs, conveying deep messages. They cover broad topics such as going
against social norms, insecurities, religion, and depression, which are things that are
not really talked about among today s hit songs. A songthat depicts the corrupted and
lifeless music industry is presented in their song called Holding onto You, released in
2001. The song s purpose is to inform listeners that they will get nothing but him in
his future songs, that he isn t making music to simply put a mindless beat on the
radio. He promotes this idea by utilizing diction, imagery, and the overall... Show

Tyler is now letting the audience gain a illustration of how much the producers are
always pushing their ideas and trying to change their decisions with surrounding the
artist with their own.
The listeners are exposed to a defiant type of atmosphere when listening to the duo
s song, it s a song that makes the people who are listening feel a sense of
empowerment and assertiveness. When combining the diction and imaginary we are
left to gain an overall feeling of the singer being defiant, because he will not stop
fighting against the produced on what he thinks is right for his own brand, and his
love for his deep meaningful music.
In today s culture, people are not subjected to music with a real meaning anymore,
usually money, fame, breakups, and sex, is what you ll find playing on the radio.
However, that doesn t mean every artist does this, Twenty One Pilots, a band that
hides their messages deep within the song, you ll just have to listen closely to figure
it out. Using diction, imagery, and the overall tone is something that can help the
artist disguise their songs, multiple bands do this to go against their produces, so
they can secretly say what they want to say, so they can have an audience listen to

The Ill Treatment Of Native Indians
In A Short History of Indians in Canada, Thomas King explores, for the most part,
the ill treatment of Native Indians in Canada. Two satires by the names of Coyote
and the Enemy Aliens and Tidings of Comfort and Joy, focus on the arrogance of the
White men and how their actions affected the society of Native Indians. Specifically,
this essay discusses how their actions contributed to the dehumanization of Native
Indians. This concept of Dehumanization is explored through the hypocrisy on what
is legal and illegal according to the White men, the Native Indians enslaved and
treated like wild animals and reduced to being mere possessions of their White
masters .
Firstly, in both these short stories there is a hypocritical view on what is ... Show more

Through this quote it is clear that this paper is a legal document that entitles the
Coyote to all the properties of the Japanese Canadians. Is the job more important
than being fair? I says (p 56). King once again emphasizes that even though this
document is legal and written in the book of law, it isn t morally correct as it strips
the Japanese Canadians of their basic human rights. The narrator then goes on to
question whether or not the White men are doing the right thing regardless of
what the law states. In Tidings of Comfort and Joy, Hudson who represents the
White man has an obsession of gathering Indians as collectibles, a form of
enslavement which is legally allowed however once again is not morally correct.
The text states, And while most everyone had since moved to newer enthusiasms
such as exotic pets, rain forest acreages and internet stocks, Hudson stayed the
course and had, over the years, put together one of the more impressive collections
of Indians east of Saskatoon (p 6 7). This quote ridiculously defends Hudson s
obsession of collecting Indians who are humans as being morally correct, compared
to other not so strange obsessions making it seem like a rational thing to do. Through
this quote, King emphasizes that the sole purpose of objectification of Native Indians
in this short story is to be collectible items that can be stored and used as possessions.
It had been fun playing with the Indians, placing them around
Analysis Of William Du Bois s The Soul Of The Black Folk...
Historiography has changed immensely since the beginning of the historian
profession. Times of conflict can result in the approaches of historiography
changing in a short period. By the end of the nineteenth century, he writing of
American history had changed from consensus to progressivism. This opened up a
new form of writing and opportunities to include different approaches or fields,
such as science, economics, political science, and sociology, to help the
understanding of the topic. In 1903, William Du Bois, influenced by Pragmatism,
wrote about the Civil War and how it was a result of economic and social factors of
African Americans in his book The Soul of the Black Folk. Then, Charles and Mary
Beard wrote The Rise of American Civilization in 1927, reconsidering and adding
economic factors and the inclusion of women s roles into the history of the American
Revolution. Then, after the Second World War, the critical approach was seen as
insulting, and historians started to take a consensus approach again. One of the most
influential consensus historians of this time was Daniel Boorstin, who wrote The
Genius of American Politics . This book helped explain the American Revolution as a
means of theory failure by showing how liberal also known as progressive historians
exaggerate on certain events or people that impacted the American Revolution, such
as the Declaration of Independence and Thomas Jefferson. He sees the American
Revolution results were a positive advance
Asian-American Women Stereotypes
As an Asian American woman, I want to see better representation for the Asian
community; if media is supposed to reflect the real world, then there is no excuse
for leaving Asians out in American films. I want to dissect why Asians are still
marginalized and stereotyped today when there is a demand for more diversity in
media. In addition, I want to cover the history behind the stereotyping and
whitewashing of Asians in Hollywood and how that still has a negative impact
today. In fact, recent movies have white washed Asian roles in favor of white actors.
In May 2015, Sony released Aloha, where Emma Stone portrayed Allison Ng, a part
Chinese Hawaiian fighter pilot. This blatant erasure is also evident in Dreamworks
casting of Scarlett Johansson... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Movies produced in the later half of the twentieth century still suffered from
stereotypes set by films from years ago. In Year of the Dragon (1985), Tracy Tzu,
despite being a professional newscaster, was also portrayed as seductive and
mysterious, manhandled and dominated by the Caucasian hero, Stanley White, as
he overpowers her and carries her off to bed like a trophy (Rajgopal, 2010, p. 149).
These stereotypes of Asian women in film feed into the stereotypes of Asian
women offscreen, and being perceived as exotic and submissive contributes to a
higher risk of sexual assault, as if they are somehow asking for it (Rajgopal, 2010).
The portrayal of Asians matched with the progression of history showed America
was projecting its fear and othering Asians through media. If Asians are not
portrayed in a stereotypical role, then they are given no role at all, rendered
invisible by Hollywood and the masses. Because the West was not hugely exposed
to the East, the easiest way to generalize Eastern people was to build fictional
characters of an extreme (Wang, 2010, p. 86). Asians were not talked about, and
when they were, it was through caricatures and

Earthman rates temperature, heating and air quality as the most individual elements
for student achievement in learning. A class that is well lit, warm when environment

Furthermore if the classroom is up to date and current technology is available, the
student will keep pace with their peers who have access to this equipment.
Where classes are positioned in a school matters a lot. Class next to staffrooms
where teachers crack jokes can distract the students concentration and learning in
class. Classes should be situated in areas away from paths that distract pupils. An
example is a class next to the main road leading to the main gates will always have

staring at anything passing outside instead of listening to the teacher. Police cars that

Essay on Organizational Change Management
Organizational Change Management
Significant organizational change occurs when an organization changes its overall
strategy for success, adds or removes a major section or practice, and/or wants to
change the very nature by which it operates. It also occurs when an organization
evolves through various life cycles, just like people must successfully evolve through
life cycles. For organizations to develop, they often must undergo significant change
at various points in their development; hence the topic of organizational change and
development has become widespread in communications about business,
organizations, leadership and management.

In support of principle one, the practice that must accompany it is to align the goals
of a change effort with organizational strategy. An organization s strategic plan
identifies the products and services it delivers and the core business and key
supporting processes that help deliver these products and services. It also identifies
the organization s special competencies and how they enhance the core and key
supporting organizational processes. If the goals of the change effort do not support
the organizational strategy then the change effort will not yield significant value to
the organization.
The Epic EHR supports the business goals of Legacy by promoting preventative
medicine through integrative communication and access, better record keeping, and
improved coordination of health care services, as well as by reducing waste,
inefficiency, and miscommunication. These efforts will reduce the national cost of
health care and lower out of pocket expenses, which are two big aims of Legacy
Health.
Therefore, by aligning the goals of a change effort with the business strategy of an
organization, the change effort will have a greater chance of succeeding because the
change effort will receive greater executive commitment than if the goals were not
aligned. In sum, the commitment of executive level management

their creation in 2001 giving an opportunity to all willing people to work together to

Going straight to the source is the best way to check if the information in the article
is reliable and credible.
A New Tool to Check the Quality of Articles German professor Stock created a new
tool that allows checking the quality of articles posted on Wikipedia and stated,
Wiki Watch serves as a research tool indicating lack of sources and evaluating the
reliability of every entry made, using WikiTrust s color code system to display
reputation of a text according to the reputation and number of revisions by users.
Wiki Watch analyzes every Wikipedia entry ever created in a few seconds, checks
the number of sources used in the article and the quality of editing (para. 2). Wiki
Watch uses a color codes system to check the reputation of the article by figuring out
how many times people revised the article. White color means reliable information;
therefore, yellow color has an opposite meaning. This system also checks for the
credibility of the article and emphasizes individual words used in the article.
Many Editors to Correct the Errors Wikipedia counts 75,000 editors who check the
articles and their content to make sure that the information is valid and reliable.
According to Schaffer (2009), the journal Nature conducted a study in 2005 and
proved that Wikipedia is just as valid as any other encyclopedia, including Britannica,
keeping in mind that errors and vandalism can occur to any of them (para. 2).

Designing A Remake Centric Film Festival From A Project
Essay
Research
I got the idea to create a remake centric film festival from a project I did in another
film class. In that class, my group and I decided to do a presentation on horror film
remakes. While trying to decide on while two films to talk about, I found that a
multitude of horror films had been remade. I continued looking up films that had
been remade and eventually made it through the lengthy list of horror films, and
found other genres that have had remakes. Once I found enough content to pad out a
film line up, I settled on remakes as my theme and began my research on the actual
film festival aspect.
After seeing that the list of film remakes was dominated by the horror genre, I
decided that T2 would not be another horror fest. I tried to select films from a broad
range of genres, all while making sure that the horror genre was well represented. I
was astonished that the fourth horror film ever made was a remake of the first horror
film ever made (Follows, The Scale of Hollywood Remakes and Reboots ),
Georges MГ©liГЁs 1896 Le Manoir du diable, was remade into The Haunted Castle
in 1897 by George Albert Smith. Horror is the most commonly remade genre
because societal fears have evolved over time, and though the stories remain the
same, the scare tactics are rejuvenated to be more effective.
The production/success of remakes has declined over the past decade (Follows, The
Scale of Hollywood Remakes and Reboots ), but it appears that remakes are set to

Monsters Inc Reflection
This is the first time that I watched the movie Monsters Inc if not for the given task
for us to write a reflection utilizing McKinsey 7S Model of Strategy. The story is both
touching, entertaining and interesting.
Foremost of the McKinsey 7S model is the element of strategy. Monsters Inc., as a
business company, derives its product from scared children to produce energy. The
children, as a source of energy were assigned one employee each called the scarer,
and permanently assisted by another employee to handle the technical aspects of the
job including recording and the filing of reports.
At the beginning of the story, Monster Inc believes that scaring children is the most
viable source of energy. The highest reading reflected on the meter scale supply the
most amount of enegry. However, the strategy shifted to the discovery of happiness
from children which is more powerfull source of ... Show more content on

In the movie, the new discovery shifted the lead work from Sully to Mike. Their
turnabout roles stemmed from the fact that Mike is more suited to extract laughter
from children than Sully.
Personally, a new discovery of the company, or in this case a better one, can be very
enriching for a person. This could affect the output of the company into greater
heights and create better products. If not for discoveries, like in this case, research
can also help the company perform economically for better results or output.
The second element is structure. The movie presented a direct structure from source
to extractor to consolidation or reports to management. Even with the discovery of a
new energy source, Monsters Inc maintained its operational structure. I think this is
the most economical way for the company to achieve its objective and this suits well
with my personality a simple and straight forward approach from personal needs to

The Influence Of Drug Testing On Welfare
There is an ongoing argument between individuals that believe anyone on any sort of
government aid should be drug tested, and many that believe it s unconstitutional and
that they should not be drug tested. One federal aid is welfare also known as
(TANF). Welfare is a public assistance program that provides at least the minimum
amount of economic security to people who do have a job, but don t make enough
income, and to individuals that don t have employment. Welfarewas designed to give
people whose incomes are insufficient to maintain an adequate standard type of
living. Many government aid gets misused and abused. In many ways drugtesting

In Florida recently they ratified drug testing program and decided to suspend it,
because on February 26, 2013, a panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh
Circuit preliminarily found in Lebron v. Florida Department of Children and

under the Fourth Amendment, and that requiring consent to such testing as a
condition of receiving welfare violates the doctrine of unconstitutional conditions.
More specifically, the court upheld the US District Court for the Middle District of
Florida ruling because it did not abuse its discretion in finding the plaintiffs likely
to succeed on the merits of their claim. The program required all applicants for
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to pay for a urinalysis. If the
results were positive, applicants would become ineligible to receive TANF
benefits for one year. So, why can t we test welfare recipients, government workers

Government workers are getting paid, because they are working for their money, but
the welfare recipients are not working they are just receiving aid from the
government. So, how can we be violently the Fourth Amendment when it s a

In services, Lean must focus on eliminating waste differently than manufacturing.
Minimizing lead times between customer demand and fulfillment can be one of the
ways to reduce waste. The services sector is now moving towards enhancing the
customer experience. With this goal, there should be proper alignment between
efforts to improve operational efficiency and achieving more customer satisfaction.
(Ganapathy, 2015, p. 5).
For years companies have turned to IT (Information Technology) to make things
easier and reduce the waste of paper and human computers. When companies find

Lean in software development? With business requirements perpetually changing can
a business get to the place where the system is good enough? Cost cutbacks, faster
time to market, improved products and differentiated services are now the essential
pillars in managing any software development process. The shift has been to move
away from the customary Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) approach to

As a methodology for waste reduction, one should interpret the Lean concept in the
software context in a more significant way. Non value added activities in a software

Gender Bias In Sports Essay
Highly accomplished female athletes are often infantilized by sport commentators by
referring to them as girls or
young ladies whereas skilled male athletes are rarely (if ever) referred to as boys
(Messner et al., 1993; Wensing Bruce,
2003). A recent headline in the UK s Daily Mail regarding the Sochi Olympics read,
Curl power: Girls sweep their way to bronze as Britain equals its best ever Winter
Olympics tally (Daily Mail Reporter, 2014). Not surprisingly, the malecurlers were
not referred to as boys when they won a silver medal the next day.
Commentators further infantilize female athletes by calling them by their first name
only whereas this rarely occurs with male athletes. Messner et al. (1993) found that

For example, Billings (2007) examined the media commentary for men s and women
s diving, gymnastics, swimming, and track and field competitions during the 2004

gender bias between men and women s gymnastics. Similarly, Angilini, Billings, and

skating in their examination of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Typically, the negative framing described in the previous paragraphs occurs alongside

Ageing
4. Discuss the physical and psychological changes associated with normal ageing.
How can one minimise pathological ageing?
The process of aging has been around as long as life itself. All living organisms pass
through three broad stages from conception to death, which are maturation, maturity
and aging. Aging affects everyone because nearly everyone has the potential to grow
old and all the societies in which we live have older members (Macdonald, 1997).
Gerontology is the use of reason to understand aging. The term was used to refer to
the scientific study of aging, but nowadays it includes the study of aging using views

In order to counter act this one must maintain regular and also suitable exercise. One
must take into consideration the exercise tolerance in relation to his/her current age.
Change to healthier lifestyle by quitting smoking as this can have a direct relationship
and can worsen the breathlessness. It is important to not mix mild shortness of breath
that does not affect normal daily activities with shortness of breath at low exercise
level and wheezing as these may be symptoms of chronic bronchitis, asthma or heart
failure.
Digestive System
A common change related to normal aging is changes that affect the digestive system.
The most common one observed in old age is constipation (Macdonald, 1997). In
order to minimise constipation it is essential or eat a fibre rich diet with more
vegetables and fruit. Also maintaining regular exercise can also reduce the chance of
developing constipation. Stools with blood or mucus are not part of normal ageing.
Urination
In normal ageing changes in urination also occurs. It is seen that there is more
frequent urination at night (Matteson et al., 1998). In order to minimise this
pathological aspect of normal ageing, it is suggested to avoid fluid intake one hour
before sleeping. It is important to distinguish between difficulty or pain while
passing urine as this may be due to urinary tract infections and for men as well as

Analysis Of Rachels Why Should We Be Moral
Recall: In the Why Should We Be Moral, Rachels makes several important points:
1) The Ring of Gyges illustrates how behaving immorally can sometimes be to one
s advantage. Glaucon argues that all of us would behave like Gyges, if we thought
we could get away with it. 2) Rachels points out that it is a good thing for you if
other people live ethically, but it becomes another maВІer if you are bound by moral
constraints. 3) Rachels mentions one familiar idea that right living consists in
obedience to God s commands. 4) Rachels argues that we should be as good as we

Essay on Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock
In the poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Elliot, Prufrock is a man
that is pessimistic, has low self esteem, and has much internal conflict. He believes
that he isn t good enough for the women of his desire; this theme also becomes a
motif. The epigraph of the poem is an excerpt from Dante s Inferno, in which that
the perfect audience could only be someone who would never be allowed into the
real worldwhere that person(s) might reveal Prufrocks idiosyncrasies. This of course
is impossible so therefore he must settle on a personal reflection, thus creating an

28). At the end of the poem it is structured most like an English sonnet. The evidence
for this is in the last two lines that both rhyme and conclude the poem. The last line
meaning that when the outside world gets involved, till the human voices wake us
the dream or fantasy is ruined we drown. Prufrock believes the women will put him
down by making insults such as how his hair is growing

Response to Literature
The free bird thinks of another breeze....a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams...
The two literary works I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and
Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird can be seen as mockingbirds that have flown over
fields of prejudice and repeat what they have seen for all to hear. Jem Finch, a young
boy and lawyer s son from To Kill a Mockingbird clearly symbolizes a mockingbird
because of his youth and innocence, and because of his innocence he cannot fully
understand the racism in the story. Jem also has many similarities to the caged and
free birds in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings , whether it be Jem s ... Show more

While Jem was a young boy he acted very similar to the free bird in I Know Why
the Caged Bird Sings. He lived life to its fullest never stopping to think of the
racism he was being shielded from. The free bird thinks of another breeze and the
trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on a dawn
bright lawn and he names the sky his own. (Angelou, 14 18) In this stanza of the
poem you can infer that the free bird is very happy with life and never thinks of
anything upsetting. The upsetting things in this instance would be the racism in
the story; the free bird never stops to think about the caged bird. As the summer
progressed, so did our game. (Lee, pg. 52) When Jem and his sister Scout meet
Dill, a boy in their neighbor s yard, they get to know him and play with him. They
are always thinking of improving their game, living life to its fullest as much as a
kid can. When they are playing said game, Jem never stops to think about the
racism in the world and is shielded from it by the fun of being a kid. Concluding
that they are similar characters because both Jem and the free bird enjoy their
lives. Another reason why the free bird and Jem , the symbol of a mockingbird are
similar is they are both able to do what they please. A free bird leaps on the back of
the wind and floats downstream till the current ands and dips his wing
Treatment Of Women In Jane Eyre Essay
Charlotte BronteМ€ wrote Jane Eyre in 1847 during Britain s Victorian era, a time
when the societal culture was patriarchal, meaning men were considered to be
superior to women in all parts of life. In general society was guided by etiquette and
considered prudish, hypocritical, single minded, and arrogant. The culture of this era
was defined predominantly by two main characteristics. First by the rigid caste
structure, which prevented most from advancing beyond the station held by their
families. Second, the extreme polarization of gender roles, especially in the upper
classes. Men were expected to be honorable, enterprising, intelligent, loyal, and
morally strong. However, women were expected to be chaste and in the constant
company of a chaperone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many examples in the text, but most significant come from interactions
with the Reed family, Mrs. Fairfax, and Blanche Ingram. While living at the Reed
s, Jane was treated as an outcast. She was constantly reminded of her privation,
this is illustrated in several interactions. This is best illustrated when John Reed
tells Jane, ... you are a dependant, mama says; you have no money; your father left
you none; you ought to beg, and not live here with gentlemen s children like us ...
(BronteМ€ 10). John leverages the power that comes from his social position to
remind Jane that she is below him in social standing. During her tenure at
Thornfield Jane had many occasion to be reminded of her lack of social standing.
Esther Godfrey makes this point in her article Jane Eyre: Governess to girl Bride
when she refers to Mrs. Fairfax s reaction to the marriage, For Mrs. Fairfax, Jane
and Rochester s engagement seems flaunting of a doubly violated social taboo in
which class and age are boundaries ... (863). In fact Mrs. Fairfax is not shy about
pointing out class inequality to Jane, when she learned of the impending marriage she
intimates that upper class men, like Rochester, never marry below their class, in
particular they do not marry
Computer Based Systems And Its Effects On The Workplace
Introduction The use of a timeclock to monitor only select employees negatively
impacts the workplace, as it creates an environment that lacks trust and causes
morale to plummet. Even so, many good intentioned managers implement
timeclocks as a way to manage some, or all employees, believing this will be a way
to keep employees honest as well as become a money saving endeavor. What they
fail to realize is that it can actually cost the company in several ways; it may lead to
financial loss for the company in unearned wages and can be the cause of losing
quality employees. Punching a timeclock is not a new idea. The original Bundy
timeclock was patented in 1890 by Willard Le Grand Bundy in Auburn, New York.
Today, computer based systems are used in conjunction with magnetic stripe cards,
barcodes, RFID (radio frequency identification) chips, and even biometric scans to
monitor the coming and goings of employees. (Wikipedia, 2015) The clocks are
meant to encourage promptness and decrease unwarranted overtime, but some
employees feel singled out and that they are being punished for the indiscretions of
others. Dee Haverrn recently posted an online discussion about being made to
clock in as a Registered Nurse, I resent being treated like a factory worker.
(Haverrn, 2007) Many HR experts and employees agree that salaried exempt
employees may feel micro managed and discouraged when made to punch a
timeclock. Applying uniformity and reason to policy
Choosing A Training Intervention Program
Choosing an Intervention
Projects requiring a training intervention usually have to do with a performance. I
used as a reference a similar intervention from Kentucky Virtual Schools hybrid
program since I would like to analyze step by steps the procedures to obtain the
expected outcomes. Training intervention is the method I choose because it complies
with the procedures I want to present at SUAGM (Sistema Universitario Ana G.
MГ©ndez) to integrate technology in a bilingual setting with hybrid courses.
Developing a training intervention project involves assessing the need, designing
materials, developing training presentations and exercises, implementing the program
and evaluating the success of the program.

Professional development
According to the intervention training in the study, change started with professional
development; it was guided by instruction specialists and used an online professional
development program for algebra I teachers, as well as other resources. The program
was intended to improve both the algebra I content knowledge and research based
instructional practices. It begun with orientation and instruction in a hybrid format
before moving to a distance format. The teachers received online training sessions
with the purpose to share their successes and challenges to improve their
understanding, and ability to implement recommended instruction practices.
In my project, the professional development will include offering training to both
instructors and bilingual adult students. I can talk with property about the sessions
since I have been helping as instructional curriculum designer; participating of the
evaluation and selection of the instructors, and offering courses online and in
traditional setting to level staff, teachers, and students. For instance, some of the
offered courses to the instructors are introduction to Blackboard 9.1; searching,
evaluation, and selecting internet resources; collaboration online with Microsoft
Office live workspace; instructional design, and Web 2.0 tools.

Garner State Park Research Paper
I first went to Garner State Park when I was thirteen years of age, I had never heard
of that place before, but my neighbors from across the street had invited me for the
weekend. Ever since I visited, it became one of my favorite places to attend to; I
have yet to find someone who doesn t find that park beautiful. I did a vast number of
things which were all genuinely enjoyable; everything was done at the perfect time
from the early morning till sunset.
Generally, I arrive there at four in the morning, frogs croaking and fireflies dim in the
distance, the sun is still hours from rising but I am ready to take on the day. Sure
enough the sun is out and we get ready to go in; as I unload I can t help but look
around and admire all the beauty that surrounds me. Once we get settled in our
camping space, I keep thinking about the challenge that I will take on old Baldy . As
my buddy and I get ready to head out we prepare so we have everything we need ...

we should start heading towards it so we did. By submerging in the water, my
nervous system instantly reacted to the temperature but soon after, relief. At the
bottom of the river floor I feel the rocks smoothed out by the water along with the
algae and every so often some young fish that thrive there. Along the end of the
section of the river there s a little wall where water falls down from to another
section, while sitting there I can feel the strong pressure of the water hitting against
my chest, consequently, I reach a point of relaxation incomparable to all
Culture Of Japan Culture
Modern day Japan s culture is mainly like the the U.S. in many ways for example
some of there music is called J Pop which is like our modern day Music the also
goes by Pop some J Pop singers will include Ayumi Hamasaki and many others. In
the us pop singers will be noticed by the name of Taylor Swift or Katy Perry. Even
though Japan tries to modernize themselves ads best as the could the still use their
language that they used long ago. They still have their ancient furniture that their
great grandparents used before their time time of existence but it is mainly used
for decoration. Japan culture is like many other Asian culture such as using
chopsticks and their religious beliefs nut is is also different in many ways. For
example Japan just like China are very religious which is caused by Japan
absorbing the word of there god through Korea and China. That lead to going a
long time isolated from the outside world. There main two religions were Shinto
and Buddhism. Both religions were brought to Japan by other countries but
Buddhism is practiced more because it was brought to Japan first and it is still
practiced to this day. The Japanese culture to this day still believes in giving their
kids the best lunch as possible for example schools will serve a doe based bread
covered in egg and cinnamon and the kids love it this dish is called nostalgic or
sweet bread in english. Japan schools take learning just as serious as they do lunch

Military Budget Spending And Effects
Rubio 1
Military Budget Spending and Effects. Military budget and spending is a very broad
subject and one that deserves not only a term paper, but possibly a book. There is
loads of information both in book format and on the internet that clearly describes
military budget and spending, namely the United States military and spending. The
United States was found in 1776 on the principles of liberty and the pursuit of
happiness, which just so happens to be a movie of the same title, the Pursuit of
Happiness. We became a nation of immigrants and were united by a common belief
that we would not be governed by the British. We abhorred what they stood for and
were determined to be different. Our cessation from the British, or better yet, ... Show

George Washingtonfelt the need to make it official and have both the Senate and the
House of Representatives declare the United States Military. There were men serving
in the Continental Army already and they just transitioned over to the United States
Military. In time, the military would divide itself into four branches the four
branches we know today, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Marines. The
history of the United States Military spans two centuries already. It is unbelievable
that just two hundred years ago, we were at the infancy of what we now call a
superpower of sorts. With this amazing superpower of a Military, we, of course,
have to budget for that. The amount of money necessary to sustain a military like
the United States is a fortune, but totally worth every penny. Our safety and
security depends on these men and women who risk their lives every day to make
sure we are protected. There are many who believe that military spending is growly
over budgeted but that is a matter of opinion. When it comes to safety, protection,
and security, shouldn t we pay for that? Our tax dollars are allocated to a multitude
of things. For instance, our tax dollars are used for paying Congress salary, for
education, infrastructure, government projects, space exploration (NASA), and of
course, military spending. Our new president, Donald Trump is a big supporter of
military spending. In fact, most, if not all, Republican presidents
Glaciers In The Andes
Although many glaciers are retreating in the Andes, some glaciers have shown a
positive mass budget. Schaefer et al. (2014) showed a progressive surface mass
balance from 1975 to 2011 in the South Patagonian Icefield. Masiokas et al. (2009)
also noted glacier growths in certain portions of SPI during the first half of the past
millennium. Sakakibara and Sugiyama (2014), in their analysis of 26 calving
glaciers from 1984 to 2011, noticed small advancements in two termini of the PГo XI
glacier. Espizua and Pitte (2009) noticed some periods of minor advances in the
Central Andes. They concluded that the positive mass balance during the period
was the outcome of the warm El NiГ±o Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events.

Annual rainfall increases from 100 mm to 2,000 mm along the latitude within the
central region (Montecinos and Aceituno, 2003). The studies on climate variability in
the region reported a decrease in the precipitation and a diminutive increase in
temperature (Favier et al., 2009; Rabatel et al., 2011). The complex landscapes of the
Andes create numerous microclimatic zones in the study region (RosenblГјth et al.,
1997).The varying climatic conditions and topography along the Andes influence
the development of glacial masses. Therefore, we divided the study region into four
sub regions based on climate and topography. These divisions help overcome
statistical bias and avoid overlying dissimilar radar signal footprints (Kääb et al.,
2012). These four climatic sub regions are DC (31В°S 35В°S), NW (35.1В°S

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Blocs
Trade Blocs
A regional trading bloc is an intergovernmental agreement or treaty among a group of
countries, acting together for a common purpose of removing or reducing trade
barriers of trading between the participating nations. It is a form of economic
integration, creating high level of globalization and regionalisation. Economic
integration is the integration of economies on different aspects of trade and thus,
reduction of its barriers among the countries. World trade is being shaped by
economic integration, whose level defines the degree and nature of economic

trade disputes. Example: In 1970s, reacting to the UK joining European Market,
various former UK colonies formed own trading
Racism In Ernest Gaines s A Lesson Before Dying
Racism is the belief that innate differences between races dictate cultural
achievement and includes the idea that one race is above another. This is a
universal problem and is the root of discrimination. Lately, police officers face
accusations of racial profiling and being responsible for several unjust murders. The
deaths that are due to the victims skin pigment recognize that social oppression is an
active practice. In the book A Lesson Before Dying, author Ernest Gaines reveals
how racismis an oppressive force through multiple characters and situations.

Putnam instead argues that one s claims about the world are true even if one was a BIV because a BIV s claims are consistent with what it appears to be experiencing. However, Putnam also acknowledges that although a BIV s claims about its world are seemingly true, its claims differ in reference, meaning and in truthfrom those made by a non BIV. Putnam supports this claim by arguing that one cannot reference a type of object unless one comes into causal contact with it. A BIV, in this scenario is said to live in a world in which the only objects are brains, a vat, and a laboratory containing supercomputers that stimulate the envatted

Technology has been which in our society since the stone age. The knowledge gap, which is a gap between those who have and don t have technology, is predominant within our society. Some people don t have the access to new tech, due to financial troubles, race, gender, etc. This in turn has created a digital divide , an uneven access to technological wonders. Some of the digital divide can be explained by either demographic and community level characteristics, or how technology has become more mobile. • 4. Film Analysis Of Remember The Titans Remember the Titans Introduction Remember the Titans directed by Boaz Yakin, is an inspirational feature film that retells the true story of a high school football team that overcame racism to win the football championship. Set in Virginia during the forced integration of high school districts in the American south, the film explores the idea of racism, friendship and communication in sports through the use of camera shots and angles, props, body language and juxtaposition. Yakin suggests that racist attitudes are the product of ignorance, but can be overcome by communication and friendship through the representation of Gary s girlfriend, Emma s change of attitude toward Julius. Yakin s representation of Coach Boone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, Yakin uses body language and a close up when Emma introduces herself to Julius at the end of the film. Yakin s use of close up on Emma s outstretched hand has the effect of symbolising Emma s change in attitude toward Julius. Through Gary s example, Emma has become more tolerant and accepting of Julius because she no longer subscribes to racial stereotypes about African Americans. Clearly Yakin intends to condemn racist attitudes and reinforcing the value of communications and friendship. As a result of his representation, the film has positioned me to accept people even if someone has a different personality, instead of being injustice and unfair. Body Paragraph #2 Remember the Titans explores the idea of friendship through the use of camera angles and shots, props, body language and lighting. During the sequence when Gary and Julius are telling each other what they are doing wrong in the game, Yakin suggests that friendship promotes tolerance and acceptance, and empowers people to achieve their goals as well as overcome adversity. Yakin uses close up of the two players arguing, showing their frustration and anger toward each other. Julius tells Gary Attitude reflects leadership. Taking his advice the next day, Gary and the others played well because they learned to play like an actual team. Yakin s use of body language and facial expression has the effect of representing Gary and Julius anger toward one another, as both of them are frustrated

Solutions To The Salutary Neglect Of The American Colonies Great Britain s longest ruling monarch before Queen Victoria, King George III ascended the British throne in 1760, during turbulent times in which, brought about several oppressive and abusive actions towards the thirteen colonies. Salutary neglect: a policy of non interference, enabled the American colonies to prosper by trading products. Nevertheless, when the French and Indian War had finally come to an end, the British had severe debt and was left with possible solutions which only revolved around taxing the colonies. Furthermore, the Royal Proclamation: a document that set out guidelines for European settlement of Aboriginal territories, had infuriated the colonies and they protested that the Proclamation deprived them of land known as their God given right. In 1774, the British Parliament passed harsh and unbearable laws known as the Intolerable Actswhich were meant to punish American colonists for the Boston Tea Partyand other protests. Overall, the colonists were very wrathful regarding all acts and did not want the British Empireruling over them. To summarize, in the short span of thirteen years, the colonies went from being loyal subjects of King George III to becoming rebels capable of overthrowing the most dominant military nation on earth. To begin with, salutary neglect was an unauthorized, but a long lasting British policy of avoiding harsh enforcement of parliamentary laws indicated to keep the American colonies obedient to Great Britain. • 6. La Dolce Vita Essay In La Dolce Vita, Alain Cuny plays Steiner, Marcello s affluent and intellectual confidante, role model, and for lack of a better term: hero. Steiner lives in a home filled with pieces of art with his beautiful wife and two perfect children. He is a character that is cordial and respectful to all those around him. In a scene where the two friends enter a church together, Steiner plays Bach on the church organ and urges Marcello to have more faith in himself and finish his book. The following day, Marcello attends a party along with numerous artists and intellectuals at Steiner s home. At one point, the two friends speak about how life is to be lived, where Marcello asks Steiner how one can abandon his or her materialistic lifestyle. Steiner ambivalently states, Safety is not being locked up in one s home. He continues on by exclaiming that a miserable life is more preferable than existence in an organized society. A quiet guitar soundtrack is heard in the background, adding to the tone of the conversation between the two friends.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only does he kill himself but he also kills his two young children. Marcello is astounded by his friend s suicide, because of Steiner s warmth, sincerity, and respect for those he loved. To Marcello, Steiner was his only ticket out of journalism, a life he so despises at this point. The loss is not for Marcello though rather it is for Steiner. He reflects an unfortunate reality an artist and intellectual lives through a darkened world that his imagination made even darker. Steiner represents a life that many celebrities live with today, one that is detached from society and genuine relations, which can ultimately lead to its own termination. Steiner, who is identified as a hero and role model to Marcello in the beginning of the film, is essentially useless in helping his friend and prodigy transition into a tabloid journalist and reach a life of full

In Siddhartha s life, he became separated from his best friend, Govinda in order to become a Samana. Siddhartha also experienced the sorrow of losing his own son just like Siddhartha s father had experienced among his own son, while McCandless chose the life of abandonment and isolation. McCandless broke off all ties with his friends he met along the journey. Correspondingly, Siddhartha and McCandless both experienced an ascetic lifestyle upon their arrival. Siddhartha believed in losing his Self in order to find his Self. He went through pain and suffering just like McCandless did on his last few days in the Alaskan wilderness. Towards the end of their journey, Siddhartha didn t believe in idealism and materialism, he knew nothing would satisfy him if he stayed with his father. Therefore Siddhartha pursued a journey with nothing but his friend, Govinda. McCandless knew staying at home would not satisfy him, therefore he went on his own. • 10. Architecture Of The Colosseum Once the Colosseum had been built, it seems to have become the model for many, if not most, of those that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum stands proudly upon the villainous Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden House, projecting the munificence of Imperial Roman Architecture. Its ultimate design could be said to be formed through purpose or function. However, this does not do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman society (Thornton and Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions, whether it be religious or otherwise, of the Colosseumwere irrelevant to the ultimate design of the architecture, as the architectural features contained within the Colosseum s ultimate design created an instant archetype, a marker of Romanness across the empire (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 25). The clever use of the classical orders and faГ§ades, and adaptation of existing Roman architecture of the period allowed the Colosseum to become a model for many subsequent Roman amphitheatres, whilst showing the ingenuity of Roman architecture of the period. The architectural vocabulary of the Colosseum saw the clever use of existing Roman design practices to create a final structure which became a precedent for all Amphitheatres which followed. Thus, highlighting the overriding importance of the aesthetics the ultimate design displayed. The importance of the appearance in the final design s architecture begins with the conventions which were used for

Throughout the development of Black Theology and the black church a sensitive topic has risen. Many feel that there is a large amount of sexuality throughout the black church. Four hundreds of years a major discussion raised among people has been the issue of sexuality as well as the black church, furthermore the combined idea of sexuality in the black church. Many theologians as well as philosophers have tried to grasp and place meaning to the connection that exist as well as the problem within sexuality in the black church. Blacks are known as sexual beings so obviously one would assume that there is an association of sexuality in the African church. This idea is even seen in a black church worship experience. In a black worship experience the pastor is seen as a ministerial Casanova who sends ambivalent messages to the congregation speaking the ills of adulterous relationships. But then he proceeds to pursue a relationship with one of the congregation members. Many argue that we need to recover erotic uses our black bodies. In the book Sexuality and the Black Church

The marketing of the Chevrolet Voltwill be protected by this assignment, but there are some important factors to consider. General Motors and the EV1 At the turn of the 20th century, General Motors had developed the EV1. The EV1 was a plug in vehicle that relied solely on an electrical battery as its source of power. This vehicle which had generated lots of hype, such as the Chevrolet Volt is now, never made it into production. This result has caused many enthusiastic electrical powered potential buyers to be weary of the production of the Chevrolet Volt because of the heartbreak they suffered a decade ago. Additionally, analysts on Wall Street deemed the EV1 a massive failure because of the non commercial production of the vehicle. Trying to understand why this vehicle failed to reach its potential is absolutely necessary in the development of the Chevrolet Volt s marketing strategy. The primary problem with the EV1 from a marketing perspective was the product itself. Unlike the Volt, GM s EV1 didn t have the capability to use other fuel sources when the battery died, but instead just died. Therefore, the product design of the vehicle was not aligned with customer s expectations that had to make normal commutes throughout the day. Another key factor was that the marketing of for this product was almost non existent. Other than a few appearances at car shows and a television commercial that
  • 17. Review Of The Defense Of Cover Songs Don Cusic argues in his article, In Defense of Cover Songs, that cover artists should be awarded the same legitimacy as songwriters, while critics believe otherwise, saying that singers should write their own music. Cusic believes that being a cover artist does not take away any credibility from he or she as an artist. Cover songs have existed for just as long as original music and they prove to be an outlet for singers who are not able to write their own songs. Even great music legends such as Ella Fitzgerald and Elvis Presley have created cover songs. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cusic then lets the reader know that cover songs are able to be hits in several genres at once, even though they are not performed by the same artist. Then, Cusic asserts that a cover song is a history lesson for a new audience that has never heard the original song. These new songs and hits are able to generate new revenue from their sales and they also generate a new market for cover artists. Cover songs are also beneficial because listeners enjoy hearing a new artist perform familiar music to get them acquainted with that artist. Cusic also goes on to explain how buyers may feel cheated when they buy an entire album, buy they only enjoy the hit single. He then states that just because an artist has added is or her own written songs on an album, it does not mean that those songs will be his or her strongest. Cusic now informs the reader that there have been songwriters who write songs specifically for other artists to sing. There have even been artists who have accepted their talents as a singer and not a songwriter, not feeling the need to be a co writer on their albums. He then moves on to say that if an artist is caught in a time warp, he or she should find great recordings to cover. Doing so does not make he or she any less of an artist. Little Richard was not given the recognition that he deserved due to the segregation of the times. Instead, singers who covered his songs received the credit. Singers have

Times of conflict can result in the approaches of historiography changing in a short period. By the end of the nineteenth century, he writing of American history had changed from consensus to progressivism. This opened up a new form of writing and opportunities to include different approaches or fields, such as science, economics, political science, and sociology, to help the understanding of the topic. In 1903, William Du Bois, influenced by Pragmatism, wrote about the Civil War and how it was a result of economic and social factors of African Americans in his book The Soul of the Black Folk. Then, Charles and Mary Beard wrote The Rise of American Civilization in 1927, reconsidering and adding economic factors and the inclusion of women s roles into the history of the American Revolution. Then, after the Second World War, the critical approach was seen as insulting, and historians started to take a consensus approach again. One of the most influential consensus historians of this time was Daniel Boorstin, who wrote The Genius of American Politics . An organization s strategic plan identifies the products and services it delivers and the core business and key supporting processes that help deliver these products and services. It also identifies the organization s special competencies and how they enhance the core and key supporting organizational processes. If the goals of the change effort do not support the organizational strategy then the change effort will not yield significant value to the organization. The Epic EHR supports the business goals of Legacy by promoting preventative medicine through integrative communication and access, better record keeping, and improved coordination of health care services, as well as by reducing waste, inefficiency, and miscommunication. Therefore, by aligning the goals of a change effort with the business strategy of an organization, the change effort will have a greater chance of succeeding because the change effort will receive greater executive commitment than if the goals were not aligned. Minimizing lead times between customer demand and fulfillment can be one of the ways to reduce waste. The services sector is now moving towards enhancing the customer experience. With this goal, there should be proper alignment between efforts to improve operational efficiency and achieving more customer satisfaction. (Ganapathy, 2015, p. 5). For years companies have turned to IT (Information Technology) to make things easier and reduce the waste of paper and human computers. When companies find themselves regularly maintaining and upgrading their software is there room for Lean in software development? With business requirements perpetually changing can a business get to the place where the system is good enough? Cost cutbacks, faster time to market, improved products and differentiated services are now the essential pillars in managing any software development process. The shift has been to move away from the customary Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) approach to newer standards that provide higher certainty and decreased risk by ensuring that business deadlines are met. (Pillai, A., Pundir, A., Ganapathy, L., 2012, p. 107). As a methodology for waste reduction, one should interpret the Lean concept in the software context in a more significant way. • 34. Gender Bias In Sports Essay Highly accomplished female athletes are often infantilized by sport commentators by referring to them as girls or young ladies whereas skilled male athletes are rarely (if ever) referred to as boys (Messner et al., 1993; Wensing Bruce, 2003). A recent headline in the UK s Daily Mail regarding the Sochi Olympics read, Curl power: Girls sweep their way to bronze as Britain equals its best ever Winter Olympics tally (Daily Mail Reporter, 2014). Not surprisingly, the malecurlers were not referred to as boys when they won a silver medal the next day. Similarly, Angilini, Billings, and MacAuthor (2013) found the greatest amount of gender biased commentary in figure skating in their examination of the 2010 Winter Olympics. All living organisms pass through three broad stages from conception to death, which are maturation, maturity and aging. Aging affects everyone because nearly everyone has the potential to grow old and all the societies in which we live have older members (Macdonald, 1997). I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across the floors of silent seas, (lines 73 74) these words are an allusion to the crab. This is significant not in the way the crab looks or its shape but in its direction of movement; instead of moving forwards like most animals, it moves sideways. When related to Prufrock it means that he really never goes anywhere he just sits there oscillating in his mind whether to go up to the ladies or not, but never actually goes forward and does it. The free bird thinks of another breeze and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn and he names the sky his own. (Angelou, 14 18) In this stanza of the poem you can infer that the free bird is very happy with life and never thinks of anything upsetting. The upsetting things in this instance would be the racism in the story; the free bird never stops to think about the caged bird. As the summer progressed, so did our game. (Lee, pg. 52) When Jem and his sister Scout meet Dill, a boy in their neighbor s yard, they get to know him and play with him. They are always thinking of improving their game, living life to its fullest as much as a kid can. When they are playing said game, Jem never stops to think about the racism in the world and is shielded from it by the fun of being a kid. Concluding that they are similar characters because both Jem and the free bird enjoy their lives. Computer Based Systems And Its Effects On The Workplace Introduction The use of a timeclock to monitor only select employees negatively impacts the workplace, as it creates an environment that lacks trust and causes morale to plummet. Even so, many good intentioned managers implement timeclocks as a way to manage some, or all employees, believing this will be a way to keep employees honest as well as become a money saving endeavor. What they fail to realize is that it can actually cost the company in several ways; it may lead to financial loss for the company in unearned wages and can be the cause of losing quality employees. Punching a timeclock is not a new idea. The original Bundy timeclock was patented in 1890 by Willard Le Grand Bundy in Auburn, New York. Today, computer based systems are used in conjunction with magnetic stripe cards, barcodes, RFID (radio frequency identification) chips, and even biometric scans to monitor the coming and goings of employees.
