Leadership Sample Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of leadership presents a multifaceted challenge that goes beyond
the mere act of writing. The difficulty lies not only in the need for eloquence and coherence in
expression but also in the nuanced understanding required to delve into the intricacies of
leadership. One must navigate through a myriad of theories, styles, and real-world examples,
striking a delicate balance between theory and practice.
Moreover, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements that often pervade
discussions on leadership. It demands the ability to offer a fresh perspective or a unique analysis
that adds value to the discourse. Balancing the exploration of personal opinions with scholarly
research adds another layer of complexity.
The nature of leadership itself is dynamic and context-dependent, making it challenging to
encapsulate its essence within the confines of an essay. It requires the writer to be attuned to the
ever-evolving landscape of leadership theories and trends.
Beyond these intellectual challenges, the emotional and psychological aspects cannot be
overlooked. Writing about leadership may prompt introspection and self-analysis, forcing the
author to confront personal beliefs and biases. It is a journey that demands self-awareness and
the courage to scrutinize one's own convictions.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on leadership is a formidable task that extends beyond the
conventional challenges of writing. It requires a deep understanding of the subject matter, a keen
analytical mind, and the ability to synthesize diverse perspectives. It's a journey that calls for
intellectual rigor, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to offering a unique and valuable
contribution to the discourse on leadership.

The Importance Of Income For Professional Baseball
Players
Research was made in order to persuade the readers of how professional baseball
players in today s society deserve the income they are receiving. Possessing the
ability to play at a professional level is what makes these men truly worthy of their
income.
Considerable Income for Professional Baseball Players The average salary of a
professional baseball player has been increased substantially throughout the past
decades; a player today makes exceedingly more than they used to. Baseball is
different from other sports due to the mental aspect of the game making it one of
the hardest sports as a professional athlete. The uphill battle to become a
professional at the sport of baseball is near impossible as talent is more frequent
throughout the globe. Some argue whether baseball is a beneficial career to the
community as other professions including firefighters, fireman, policeman, and
nurses deserve the admiration more than a professional baseball player. Good ball
players are always in demand throughout the league. MLB players are highly skilled
athletes thus earning them the right to such a high income as they bring value to the
organization and have put in dedicated hours of hard work, dedication, and practice
throughout all levels of play.
Consistency is what makes an average player an all star especially for Giancarlo
Stanton of the Miami Marlins. Giancarlo racked up 59 home runs in the 2017
season. In The Case for Giancarlo Stanton , by Dickey, Keith, and Kwak explain,
Reproductive Rights Book Report
The book, Undivided Rights: Women of Color Organize for Reproductive Justice,
was published by the South End Press and written by Marlene Gerber Fried, Loretta
Ross, and Elena Gutierrez. Ultimately, due to the lack of inclusivity and
representation during the mainstream reproductive movement in the 20th century,
this book highlights the bravery and activism done by women of color and their
grassroots organizations in order to combat racismand stereotypes as well as to
broaden and redefine the meaning of reproductive rightsand reproductive justice, so
as to ensure that all women, not just middle class white women, had their voices
heard and addressed. With a thorough look at the various grassroots organizations as
well as the various women of color behind them, I believe this book does an
exceptional job at not only analyzing the historical contexts, but also analyzing the

Due to the mainstreaming of the reproductive rights movement, white women and
their reproductive needs were constantly highlighted and addressed, while the
women of color and the countless reproductive injustices that they faced were either
overlooked or ignored. Therefore, had it not been for this book, many of us would
still be under the impression that the overrepresentation of white middle class women
as well as the emphasis on pro choice was normal and the only necessary facts to
know about the reproductive rights movement of the 20th century. Moreover,
because of the emphasis placed on grassroots organizations and their significance, it
can also be argued that another purpose for writing this book was to show the
importance and necessity of grassroots organizations, as they played a major role in
impacting public policy in relation to reproductive rights and justice for women of
Theme Of Honor In The Song Of Roland Honor
Honor; honor is something that all will strive to achieve in life. Honor shapes people
and without it, the world would be very contradistinct. But the concept of honor has
changed over time. Today, honor is telling the truth, putting others before oneself,
being kind, and protecting people no matter the cost. However, in the French epic,
The Song of Roland honor is a very incommensurable thing. Honor is idealized by
characters like Roland, Ganelon, and Marsilion as bravery to the point of stupidity
and ultimately even death. Honor was not defending others, but safeguarding one s
own reputation and legacy. And a multitudinous amount of characters in this epic put
honor above all else, and it s not always smart. One particular character... Show more

Ganelon s main force of motivation was implementing revenge on Roland. Though
that is somewhat understandable seeing as Roland had previously volunteered
Ganelon to take part in an extremely dangerous task. A task which Ganelon agreed
to take on for the sake of maintaining his honor. However, before he embarked on
his journey he threatened Roland three times, which would later allow him to kill
Roland in a legal, but more importantly honorable, way. When Ganelon returned
from his journey unharmed he took it upon himself to rid the world of Roland. He
appointed Roland to the army rear guard where his recklessness would surely bring
his life to an end. But to his consternation, Roland ultimately chose to blow the horn
which signaled for help. Eventually, Ganelon s vengeful spirit got the best of him
and Charlemagne realized his plans for Roland and swiftly punished him; for
Charlemagne had been far too trusting in previous times. One such person that
Charlemagne wrongly trusted was Marsilion, King of Saragossa, and according to
The Song of Roland, a hater of God s name. Marsilion was a man who craved
honor so much that he was willing to do anything to get it, even the dishonorable.
To the Saracen King, part of honor was being feared. And he had surely
accomplished that by doing things such as chopping up foreign messengers and
sending their remains back to their people. Marsilion saw glory, honor, and power as
a package. A package that was
The Story Of My Life
At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not
in your life, Sandi Lynn. The fear of losing a loved one is one of the worst things
in life, and no matter how hard you try to get over it or how hard you fight against
it, when the time comes, you are never going to be ready. I realized that when my
grandfather died; too young to understand what death was, but old enough to
experience the pain. Not only he died, also part of me did. I will always be by your
side, my little princess, were the words that came to my mind as I walk down to
where we would meet. I smiled, as I remembered how much fun we always had
May 2009, Friday evening, I went out to the best pizza place in town, La Roca, to
wait for my grandfather, who lived in another city and would come to visit me. As
soon as I arrived I sat down in front of a big window, so that way we could
appreciate the beautifulness of Mother Nature, something we both loved. For
hours and hours, I waited patiently, and while waiting for him I remembered all the
moments we shared together, all the places we went, and all the things he taught
me, for example, to be strong. Since it was a while since we las met, I had so many
things to tell him; I had earned two certificates of recognition and appreciation, and
I also got all A s on my report card. I just wanted him to enter through the door so I
could run into him with a big hug, but sadly he never showed up. His tardiness was
During The Industrial Revolution Robber Barons
During the Industrial Revolution, robber barons corrupted the government. The
greedy robber barons overpowered the working class. With that massive wealth,
they created monopolies. The robber barons corrupted the government during the
Industrial Revolution by working the system. A way they worked the system was
by the standard oil trust. Rockefeller drove competitors out of business by selling
oil lower than the cost to make it. Once Rockefeller drove out all competition, the
prices skyrocketed. By doing that he worked the system to be in control of all oil
companies. Also, another way robber barons corrupted the government was by being
exploiters. They were exploiters because they got European immigrants and children
and took advantage
George W. Bush s `` Fascist America `` And 10 Easy Steps...
Imagine one morning, waking up and realizing that the country you used to know
as the land of the free, was not free anymore. That your freedom of speech had been
stripped away a long time ago. Imagine realizing that your right to vote and the right
to have a say in the government had been gradually replaced by a dictatorship, and
you were just now noticing it. In the 2007 article, Fascist America, in 10 Easy Steps
Naomi Wolf argues that the Bush administration had begun to implement the ten
steps to take down a democratic nation. The article addresses the ten steps that are
basically a blueprint for turning an open society into a dictatorship (Wolf). Naomi
Wolf compares past policies that dictators have enacted to 2007 American... Show

The overall threat is usually spun so that a majority of the citizens experience the
fear it is meant to create. A big part of creating this fear is deciding on what words
to use when presenting the enemy to the public. The language used to convey the
nature of the threat is different in a country such as Spain than it is in America
(Wolf). For example, the citizens of Spain are told that there is a grave security
threat whereas American citizens are lead to believe, that we are potentially
threatened with the end of civilization. Of course, this makes us [Americans] more
willing to accept restrictions on our freedoms (Wolf). The tactic of using different
words to feed off larger fears of the public allows the leader to control a larger
majority. It also allows them to exaggerate the fears of the nation by using more
frightening and drastic words.
Trump terrifies people into supporting him by preaching the horrors of the world and
then promising them protection from the violence. (Donald Trump s Campaign of
Fear) This fear tactic has been used by many dictators in the past, because it is so
easily enacted. The leader presents an immediate danger to the public and then
promises safety to whoever promises to support them. Most of the time a majority of
the public supports the leader; they trade their discontent for the promise of safety.
This willingness to give up something as important as your say in the government,
for the feeling of safety, is a
How Infant Attachment Is Affected By Mother Infant...
INTRO
It is no surprise that a parent s mental health and behavior can have an effect on a
developing infant s ability to grow an attachment and a bond with said parent. This
holds especially true for the bond between the mother and the infant, be it that on
average the mother infant dyad spends the most one on one time together
comparatively. According to Raval and colleagues (2001), a parent s state of mind
influences their sensitivity in caregiving behavior, which then has an effect on the
child s attachment pattern/strategy. There are a wide variety of other factors that can
have an effect on an infant s developing attachment style, such as parental states of
mind, parental attunement and attentiveness, genetic predisposition, prenatal ... Show

Avoidant infants regulate their attachment needs through exploration, and have
mothers who are consistently unresponsive or unavailable. Resistant infants know
that they cannot rely on their parent for their needs to be met, as they have mothers
who have been inconsistently responsive. Disorganized/disoriented infants can be
characterized as a severely confused child with a lack of apparent strategy by their
parent to meet their needs. (Raval et al., 2001)
MOTHER S RESPONSIVENESS
Infant attachment styles are largely impacted by the responsiveness of the mother to
the infant s needs and signals, but also by the behavior of the infant itself. The results
of the study showed that greater maternal responsiveness was a predictive factor for
secure infant attachment. For example, the secure infants had mothers who scored
significantly higher scores for total responsiveness to the child s needs and signals
than the mothers of avoidant children. (Raval et al., 2001) Raval and his colleagues
(2001) also discovered that an infant s behavior is less influential than maternal
behavior in shaping attachment patterns, though still influential. Shown in the results
of the study, maternal sensitivity to the child s needs and signals, as well as maternal
attachment to the child both make independent contributions to infant attachment.
(Raval et al., 2001)

On The Zebra Mussel
The reading claims that the zebra mussel can be a critical threat to freshwater fish
population in all of North America. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas
dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all. First, the author argues that
the history has showed that the invasion of the zebra mussel can be stoppable.
Conversely, the lecturer underlines the fact that it is true which in the past the
invasion of the zebra mussel in the new location in which it had been carried to
was impossible to control because of lack of knowledge. Nowadays, when a ship
travels through the ocean, it will empty the water in which is in the place which it
arrives. If they fill the ship with the water of ocean, it will kill the zebra mussel

The Cask Of Amontillado And The Birth-Mark
Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne focus on concepts that relate to the darker
side of the human experience by creating characters that embody the relationship
between evil and abnormal psychology. The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan
Poe and The Birth Mark by Nathaniel Hawthorne feature characters that engage in an
abnormal or unusual behavior and suffer from a flawed, obsessive psyche that causes
them to commit evil or immoral acts. Montresor and Aylmer, the two main characters
of each short story, both exhibit obsessive compulsive behavior with one character
fixated on revenge and vengeance and the other attempting to transcend the limits of
human capabilities by altering nature to achieve perfection. Poe and Hawthorne are
suggesting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Montresor s obsession was rooted in wrath and vengeance against a man who
supposedly had done him wrong. In fact, the very first line of the story discusses
his plan for revenge, which implies just how severe his obsession was. Poe writes,
The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he
ventured upon insult I vowed revenge (116). This insinuates that Montresor has been
dealing with this repetitive thoughts and obsessive behaviors for an extended period
of time and that at this point, they are interfering with his ability to live normally.
Poe continues with Montresor saying, It is equally unredressed when the avenger
fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong (116). This
haunting line also implies that Montresor is completely consumed with this idea of
revenge that he feels as though he has no other choice but to seek retaliation. This
plays into the larger idea of the relationship between evil and abnormal psychology in
a variety of ways. This indicates that Montresor was motivated by haunting, anxiety
fueled obsessive thoughts to commit the murder of Fortunato because of his distorted
perception of reality. Another example of this obsession can be seen when Montresor
is discussing his intricate, pre mediated plan for his murder. He had thought about
every possible detail of his master plan, from
Recidivism Case Study

Re Entry: A second chance? or a set up for failure.
Sociology 323
New Mexico Highlands University
Recidivism is as to relapse in behavior; typically, in criminal behavior. Department of
Justice Measurements of recidivism include new arrest, new convictions, returning to
prison with a new sentence or reincarceration for rest of sentence. Astonishingly
enough, with in a 5 year period in 2010 ,70% of offenders that were released had
been reincarcerated, due to rescinding back to the life of crime.
Regardless of demographic characteristics or the number of prior criminal offenses,
studies show that federal prisoners placed on community supervision consistently
had lower rates of recidivism than state prisoners. Among federal prisoners
conditionally released from federal prison in 2005, half (47%) were arrested
within 5 years, compared to more than three quarters (77%) of state prisoners
released on community supervision in 2005. Federal prisoners (32%) also
returned to prison less often than state prisoners (59%) during that time. Within 5
years of placement on community supervision, less than a third (30%) of federal
prisoners had two or more arrests, compared to more than half (57%) of state
prisoners. More than a third of federal prisoners (37%) had a nonfederal arrest and
a third (29%) had a federal arrest within 5 years following their release. Seventy
five percent of state prisoners had a nonfederal arrest and 4% had a federal arrest
during that time. Overall, 67% of all new arrests among released federal prisoners
were for nonfederal charges, compared to 98% among state prisoner (Recidivism
of Offenders Placed on Federal Community, 2017) Many studies on the reasons
behind recidivism have been conducted, and a majority of the rescind stems down
to Re Entrance having many challenges due to past criminal labels applied. Reentry
is not a specific program, but a process that starts when an individual is initially
incarcerated and ends when he or she has been successfully reintegrated in the
community as a law abiding citizen. (Second Chance Act , 2017) At what cost? What
are the barriers that prevent them from success? Why are the recidivism rates rising

Sourcing In America
International sell and purchase has provided tremendous growth for countries. There
are advantages and disadvantages to sourcing overseas. Some of the common
advantages to out sourcing overseas are low manufacturing cost and expertise of
products (importcrashcourse.com). The disadvantages are language barriers,
shipping time, as well as quality of products in some cases. Americans have found
comfort in everyday life regarding products that were made in other countries. If
Americans were to suddenly not be able to purchase products overseas they may find
themselves at a lost for living a typical lifestyle.
On a large scale it is typical to think of cars when first thinking of products that were
not made in America. However, American society has products they use on a daily
basis that are made overseas, such as the Apple iPhone. While the iPhone was
designed in America, the manufacturing is out sourced to China, Korea, Taiwan and
Mongolio (entrepreneur.com). There has been discussions regarding moving the
manufacturing to the United States (US). However, the cost is a great concern, and
has been the delay in the discussion to move forward with this idea. Subsequently,
like the iPhone other products currently made in other countries will cause the same
concerns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, there are many disadvantages to this idea. Considering the pricing
to manufacturer products as well as wages for labor will be the downfall for
society. Often times the reason companies out source labor and products are due to
cheaper wages as well as parts. Having a company that has multilingual workers
that s educated and willing to work for a lower pay than Americans allows for a
greater profitability for a company. The workers as well as the rent for facilities are
undeniably cheaper (smallbusiness.com). Therefore, the majority of products sold in
the US are made in other

Pt-305 Research Papers
The PT 305 was manufactured by Higgins Industries in New Orleans. The keel
(foundation of the ship) was laid down on March 30, 1943 at the City Park Plant.
The ship was launched on May 27, 1943 and was later completed at the Industrial
Canal Plant on December 8, 1943. For the American Navy, the boat was a critical
asset in the days after Pearl Harbor when the United States were short on larger
vessels and facing an onslaught of attacks from the Japanese. The actions of PT boat
crews in the Philippines and Solomon Islands represent an outstanding example of
the American Spirit in action. The ship was used by the allies in WWII and for that
reason I m going to be explaining how the ship was made, from raw to materials to

In June 2006, The National WWII Museum was contacted by the Defenders of
America Naval Museum about the possible transfer of PT 305. The vessel was
transported to the Museum campus in April 2007. With the help of the faithful
Higgins boat volunteers, PT 305 has been completely restored to her wartime
condition. Everything except the weapons are fully operational. Its home is now a
custom built boathouse on Lake Pontchartrain, where guests will be able to
purchase tours and rides on the boat. One of the ships was completely restored and
set to be moved to a museum back in its hometown. There s nothing like this
anywhere, said Stephen Watson, the museum s chief operating officer (NY Times,
1). We ve always tried to do things here that bring history to life in an unexpected
way (NY Times, 1). The maneuver on Saturday, with the 50 ton boat riding on a 64
wheeled, remote controlled crawler, certainly caught some pedestrians by surprise.
Others just had to see it with their own eyes. Jerry Lousteau s standard poodle,
Satchmo, barked at the boat as it deftly navigated the right turn off Magazine Street
onto St. Joseph Street a little after 7:30 a.m. Mr. Lousteau said that his father in law
was wounded on Iwo Jima during the war, but he confessed he had come out
because he just was fascinated by a giant moving operation (NY Times, 1).
The University Of California Santa Cruz
The University of California, Santa Cruz, is located in Santa Cruz, California. It is
a public university with an average rate of student acceptance. The campus sits right
next to the Pacific Ocean, so it is a great college for students who love the water.
The college was established in 1965 and is one of the ten campuses that makes up
the University of Californiasystem.
The University of California, Santa Cruz has over 60 diverse undergraduate programs
in total and 40 graduate programs. Some of the more popular undergraduate programs
include psychology, molecular and cell biology, art, and environmental studies.
Students can also earn master s degrees in a wide variety of majors, including
chemistry, history, mathematics, electrical engineering, and many others. Doctorates
are also awarded at the college in psychology, physics, film digital media, computer
science, and many others.
UCSC has what is called a residential college system made up of ten separate
buildings. Each college is not only aimed at specific areas of study, but each also
has its own residential housing units. Once a student chooses one of these smaller
colleges, which is a decision based highly on their major, they then complete all of
their courses there until they earn their bachelor s degrees. Each separate small
college also has its own clubs and holds its own activities and special events.
However, separate colleges often collaborate with each other to host joint activities

Arlington s Journey
I believe that giving is greater than receiving. Being able to live in Johnson County
is a blessing. We have polite neighbors, clean streets, and fresh water. This past
spring break I was fortunate enough to travel to Arlington, Texas, with my youth
group from my church. As a group, this would be our second time traveling to
Arlington for a mission purpose. As an individual, Arlington changed me. When
my youth group is traveling a long distance, we rent a couple of twelve passenger
vans. Driving to Arlington takes about ten hours, including bathroom stops and
lunch breaks. Every time my youth leader tells the group to go to the bathroom, no
one listens. That is because we are teenagers and do not have the best listening
skills. One teen needed to take a whiz and could not hold it for much longer. His
solution was to relieve himself into a water bottle. This would be an interesting trip
for every single one of us. Arriving in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Violence In Huckleberry Finn
Within the book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn there is much violence that
takes place. Most people without reading the book would think that it is about just
a young Missouri boy that found much violence throughout his time out and about

numerous deaths through violence and hate. I feel as if the river in the book
symbolized a safe place for Huck and Jim while on the banks of the Mississippi
was violence and a cruel world. The Colonel Sherburn and Boggs incident was a
violent part of the book. Mr. Boggs had come into town drunk one day demanding
that Colonel Sherburn come out and fight him. Colonel Sherburn came out of his

However, the number of studies on the axial stress strain behavior of FRP confined
RC columns subjected to a cyclic axial compression loading has been going up
slowly, particularly for noncircular RC columns. A better understanding of the latter

well informed and calibrated cyclic uniaxial stress strain model. In fact , Research is
more limited on the cyclic axial stress strain behavior of FRP confined rectangular

Loyalty In The Book Of Job
In the book of Job, the faith of God s most devout follower is challenged repeatedly
at the hand of the adversary. These tests of loyalty to God begin with the loss of
many of Job s possessions and family members and end with an affliction of skin
sores. Despite these occurrences and the urging of his wife and friends, Job remains
entirely in reverence to the glory of God. From this text, it is apparent that one s faith
and knowledge has more capability to provide happiness and ability than do material
possessions.
In the beginning of the book, the adversary challenges God s assertion that Job will
continue to both worship and fear God unconditionally, telling God to ...Lay Your
hand upon all that he has, and he will surely blaspheme You to Your face (Job
1:11). The adversary believes that Job s devotion to God stems from all of the
things with which God has endowed him, but God insists that his loyalty is
independent of what he has. God allows the adversary to take away much of the ...

He exclaims, They [the wicked] spend their days in prosperity... (Job 21:13). Job
questions why sinful people are able to live successful, materialistic lives when he,
a man who was blameless and upright (Job 1:1), was unable to maintain his
happiness in life due to what he believes to be acts of God. Job comprehends the
severity of what it is that he has lost but neglects to consider the faith that he has not.
People often focus more intently on that which they lose or that which they think that
they deserve but have not been given rather than on with what they have been
blessed. By emphasizing the negative aspects of their lives, people often overlook
their true blessings and make themselves unhappy. It is not the removal of his
material possessions that made Job unhappy, it is the shift in his focus from what he

A Rose For Emily Analysis
Not wanting to deal with and accept change seems to be the message that author
William Faulkner s short story A Rose for Emily is trying to convey. Emily
Grierson is the main character in this story, the people of her town feel sorry for
her after her father dies. She becomes a loner and does not leave her house. Emily
was controlled by her father. He rejected suitors that were interested in marrying
her. Now she is all alone, until a new person comes to town. Homer Barron comes to
work in the town. Emily is very interested in him, but he does not return the feelings.
Emily buys everything that would make it look like they are getting married. The
townspeople are wondering if he will marry her. There is talk in the town that... Show

This is Miss Emily s craziest try at keeping her life the way it was before her father
died. The death of her father was so traumatic for her that she never wanted to lose
anything.
This story takes place in the South, when there is racial discrimination. The South
was very prejudice. They were admitted by the old Negro into a dim hall from
which a stairway mounted into still more shadow (Faulkner, A Rose for Emily).
This use of the offensive word negro shows that Mr. Faulkner was trying to show
what the life of an African Americanwas during this time. They were just property
and by using these words to talk about them, they had no identity. In 1894 when
Colonel Sartoris, the mayor he who fathered the edict that no Negro woman should
appear on the streets without an apron remitted her taxes, the dispensation dating
from the death of her father on into perpetuity (Faulkner, A Rose for Emily). African
Americans were seen as nothing more than workers. They could not socialize with
white people, they were just there to serve them.
Mr. Faulkner explains the roles of women in the South and how they were seen
through the eyes of men. When Miss Emily Grierson died the whole town went to her
funeral: the men out of respectful affection for a fallen monument and the women
mostly out

Personal Integrity In Crane s The Blue Hotel And Bret
Harte
Free Imaginations
There are many themes evident in both Stephen Crane s The Blue Hotel and Bret
Harte s Tennessee s Partner; some of these themes are easily recognizable while
recognition of the others depends on the perception of the reader. The two stories,
share the theme of personal integrity and that all actions have consequences;
however, there are several themes that are unique to each story that the reader can
latch on to. The plot and storyline of Tennessee s Partner are straightforward, but after
reading Crane s The Blue Hotel, one can imagine many different plots that could have
taken place throughout the story. Through imagery, the reader can take what each
author presents and let his or her imagination run wild; there is not a set feeling or
reaction that either author intends for the reader to have after reading. Personal
integrity can be seen in both stories between the characters Tennessee s Partnerand
The Easterner. Tennessee s partner is integrid because he never left his friend
behind, even after he had done him wrong. He was always there for Tennessee and
never betrayed him. The Easterner shows his integrity when he tells the truth about
Johnnie and feel guilty about the situation with the Swede; most people would
have shrugged it off so that they did not have to deal with it but he chose to speak
up. Both of these forms of integrity show the true moral values of each character,

Using Art For A Message
Hannah Tierney
18 November 2016
Using Art to Send a Message
For centuries people have used art as a way to express the political views, or used
artistic movements to express certain ideals. This can be seen in the idealized art of
the Ancient Greeks, who strived to perfect the balance between man and nature, and
portray harmony, balance, and democracy. In Nazi Germany, Hitler showcased art that
was un German, anything reflecting Jewish or communist ideology, was displayed in
the Degenerate art show. This movement was used as propaganda; Hitler showed the
public all the art that was not German. Today, many artists mock the
commercialization of the art world and society itself using pop art and othrr consumer
trends in their work.
In Ancient Greece, philosophy and ideology shaped the views of the people living in
the first democratic state. The Greeks never established a single nation; instead, they
lived in city states, and democracy began in Polis, later known as Athens. In Athens,
artists strived to perfect their work and align it to the beliefs of the philosopher
Pythagoras of Samos, who believed everything was based on mathematics and
purification . The Ancient Greeks used their art to promote political, military, and
religious ideology, depicting battle their victorious battles as though they were fought
by the gods. The art of Ancient Greece was centered around religion and perfecting
the balance between man, nature, and the divine.
This mentality led to the

Class Distinctions and Internal Struggle in the Works of James Joyce
In the early twentieth century, Ireland, and more specifically Dublin, was a place
defined by class distinctions. There were the wealthy, worldly upper class who owned
large, stately townhouses in the luxurious neighborhoods and the less fortunate,
uneducated poor who lived in any shack they could afford in the middle of the city.
For the most part, the affluent class was Protestant, while the struggling workers were
overwhelmingly Catholic. These distinctions were the result of nearly a century of
disparity in income, education, language, and occupation, and in turn were the
fundamental bases for the internal struggle that many of Joyce s characters feel. ...

For example, as Eveline looks out her window onto the street below, she notes that
a man walking by is headed toward the new red houses (Joyce 329). She talks of
how the area used to be a field full of carefree children, but is now nothing more than
a plot of dwellings, presumably built to accommodate the wealthy as they move to
the country, that contrast sharply with her own. She also delights at sitting with
Frank in an area of the theater that was unfamiliar to her, probably because she could
not normally afford the seats. Similarly, in A Little Cloud, Little Chandler passes a
number of underprivileged, dirty children in the street but takes no notice of them,
illustrating how common this scene was in the poorer areas of Dublin. Joyce also
spends some time describing the establishment in which Little Chandler meets with
Gallaher. He points out to the reader that Little Chandler did not have enough money
to even consider entering the tavern before; he could not even hire a servant to help
with the baby or pay off the furniture. The reader may also note that Mrs. Mooney of
The Boarding House saves leftover bread scraps from breakfast to use the next day
and locks up the sugar and butter, actions not expected of a woman with money. In
Counterparts, Joyce tells of Farrington s low economic status by having him consider

Genetic Information vs Privacy Essay
The genetic technology revolution has proved to be both a blessing and a blight. The
Human Genome Project is aimed at mapping and sequencing the entire human
genome. DNA chips are loaded with information about human genes. The chip reveals
specific information about the individuals health and genetic makeup (Richmond
Germov 2009).The technology has been described as a milestone by many in that it
facilitates research, screening, and treatment of genetic conditions. However, there
have been fears that the technology permits a reduction in privacy when the
information is disclosed. Many argue that genetic information can also be used
unfairly to discriminate against or stigmatize individuals (Willis 2009).

But when those involved in these legitimate activities make demands that seem
inappropriate, the records must be protected. Disclosure of personal medical
information should also be subject to patients or families consent (Richmond et al.
2009).
Although the gene chip will enable an individual to know whether he/she has a
genetic disease, that person may not want to know the information. Many people are
frightened that a positive finding on a genetic test will result in discrimination and
ostracism because the society will consider them abnormal (Easthope 2005). The
other concern is that with genetic test information one might lose or might be unable
to get a job or insurance. There have been concerns that with the knowledge of one s
medical information after a gene test, he/she might suffer a psychological problem
especially when the results reveal that one suffers from a terminal disease or has
high possibility of suffering from one (Willis 2009).
The testing is not a bad idea as such but it should not be done to children. This
regards to personal autonomy where it would be better if the testing is delayed until
an individual is old enough to make his or her own decision about the test. A person
s genetic information should be private and counselling should be done to elucidate
the basis for and consequences of the test in question. Individuals should be allowed
to choose when and which

The Battle Of Fort Donelson
Fort Donelson, Tennessee, guarding the Cumberland River, became the site of the
first major Confederate defeat in the Civil War. Victory at Donelson started
Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant on his road to Appomattox and the White
House. His cool judgment under pressure saved the day after the Confederates
threatened to break his troop lines, yet errors by his opponents handed him a victory
that he did not fully earn on his own. Possession of the better part of two states vital
to the South depended on the outcome of the battle at Fort Donelson. When war
began in April 1861, Kentucky declared its neutrality, in response to deep conflicts of
opinion among its citizens. Considering neutrality impossible to maintain, North and
South maneuvered for position once Kentucky was opened to military operations.
The Confederates constructed fortifications on both the Tennessee and Cumberland
rivers just south of the Kentucky line. They built Fort Henry on the Tennessee
River, on ground susceptible to flooding, but chose higher ground for Fort Donelson
on the Cumberland River. Both sides wanted Kentucky but recognized that the first
to cross its borders risked losing popular support. Confederate Brigadier General
Gideon J. Pillow rashly seized Columbus, Kentucky, on the Mississippi River bluffs,
a move that appalled President Jefferson Davis, who first ordered Pillow to withdraw,
then allowed him to stay when he realized that the deed could not be reversed. Grant,

Coral Bleaching Research Papers
There exists a diverse ecosystem that many important sea creatures rely on and live
in within the tropical oceans near Earth s equator. Coral reefs support the oceans
widest biodiverse populations and have extremely important jobs. The Smithsonian
National Museum s website (a fantastic resource for ocean information) remarks
that perhaps one fourth of all species living in the ocean depend on reefs for food
and shelter. They also are very important for those of us who live in the surface, as
well; The Smithsonian also lists that the value of coralreefs has been estimated to be
nearly 30 billion dollars and possibly 150+ billion dollars every year, due to the fact
that coral reefs provide food and protection, jobs, medicines, and so much more!...

Too much or too little light can also stress corals, causing them to be bleached
according to The Ocean Portal Team. If coral reefs do not get the correct nutrients
they require, then that will cause bleaching as well, making it clear that it is
important how we treat our reefs and with what we subject them to.
Coral reef bleaching isn t just bad for the coral reefs themselves, either. Bleaching
can and will affect the rest of the environment in the ocean, from the ecosystems
that directly rely on it all the way down the food chain. So many species rely on
coral reefs in their lifespan, it affects their food, homes, and habitats. The coral reef
dependant and directly at risk species face higher chances of diseases and an
increase in death rates. Many risk endangerment because of coral reef bleaching
(aside from a number of other threats that ocean life face).
Global warming has a plethora of negative effects on the planet, both on the surface
and in the ocean as well. But one of the most dooming risks has to be the act of
bleaching coral reefs, because of the important responsibilites our reefs home. Coral

Psychology Reflection In Psychology
As American computer scientist, Emerson Pugh, once said, If the human brain
were so simple that we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn t
. Over the course of sixteen weeks we, the fall of 2017 2018 Psychology 101 class,
were able to look in depth into some topics, and only begin to skim the surface on
others. Although I may have reached the end of the semester college course, I have
not reached the end in wanting to learn more about the topics we were able to
explore during this short time. From the phases of classical conditioning, to the
hundreds of types of therapies used to treat psychological disorders, the amount of
beneficial information you can learn about humans is limitless. In my case, I found
the material on Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development, the parts of the brain, and
the personality tests the most intriguing and the most advantageous in helping me
as I progress through life. To completely understand the brain is simply
phenomenal, and a feat that no one has truly accomplished, but to be aware of
some of the reasoning for why our brains react the way they do can be just as
useful. Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development gives a look into what is going on
in the minds of our youth. As someone who wants to have children, I found the
information over Piaget to be the most helpful out of everything we learned during
the course of the fall semester. On average, parents spend roughly 2.07 hours a day
caring for children under six
A Recent Study On Nursing Shortage Trend
A recent study has shown that the nursing shortage trend might continue over the
next two decades. This shortage also reflects key changes in population
demographics, career expectations, work attitudes, and worker dissatisfaction.
Whereas the growth in nurses as part of the workforce has been slow, there has been
a subsequent increase in the demand of RN s. This fundamental imbalance points out
a key factor i.e. the unwillingness of young adults to join the workforce as nurses.
Today s difficulties are further complicated by other changes in hospitalcare, such as
new medical technologies, lack of training and education, the ACAs Hospital
Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP) and a declining average length of stay,
that have led to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, inadequate staffing can hinder nurses efforts to carry out these processes of care.
The estimated effect that nurse staffing had on the likelihood that a hospital was
penalized under the HRRP is 25 percent higher in hospitals with low nurse staffing as
compared to similar hospitals with higher staffing (McHugh, M. D., Berez, J., Small,
D. S. (2013). Investment in nursing is a potential system level intervention to reduce
readmissions that policy makers and hospital administrators should consider in the
new regulatory environment as they examine the quality of care delivered to US
hospital patients.
Furthermore, there have been many quantitative, correlational research studies that
have examined the relationships between nurse staffing, job satisfaction, and nurse
retention in hospital environment that suggest that when nurses are exposed to
inadequate staffing levels, they leave their positions to perform non direct duties that
can be administered by a lower level staff nurse. In addition, evidence has shown link
to RN education and training to better patient outcomes; which indirectly decreases
cost, medical errors by providing training and improving nurse staffing.
Opposing Argument Introduction
As is with any policy there are going to be cons that should also be highlighted
before making a final decision. Similarly, increasing patient to nurse ratio s will also
come with its sets of problems and it would be imprudent to not look into
Literary Analysis Of Eve Ensler s The Good Body
The Good Body, a concise interpretation on what it means to feel uncomfortable
with your own physical appearance which aims to address a question of what she
wants to be when she grows up. I want to be good. , she says. Eve Ensler conveys a
thought that the strive of women in perfection of personal appearance can be found
anywhere. This is an unrealistic want that can severely affect one s life. Moreover,
this focuses on the things with what Eve learned from the womenaround the world
making it to be considered as a feminist approach.

This is for the reason that the uniqueness of this story makes readers like me to feel
personal and conscious of my body because in reality, most women face body image
concerns, but in different ways. Furthermore, Eve included brief stories of her
personal struggles as a woman and the things which her hatred towards her stomach
has done to her. I can say that Eve was successful enough in connecting to the
readers for she made use of unique stories which made the good body real.
Although the majority of the literary piece focused on women who believe that
they need to change their body in order to be good , it was still good for I would
not have understood the full story of it because it would have been one sided. The
fact that the introduction of women who love their bodies is stated, while Eve
Ensler doesn t, it induced me to be encouraged and motivated in reading this
literary piece. At the latter part of this literary piece, it is evident that the idea of
having a good body is greatly affected by the influence of mass media to the one s
body image. Thus, it can be considered that the body image issues and
generalizations appear everywhere as proved by the story of Eve Ensler. I
recommend this book to the people who are so conscious of their own body type
for I know that upon reading this, they will be able to learn a lot. This is for the
reason that there is wise use of words that helped the readers
Human Rights And The Rights
Human rights are the most inalienable of rights, assured to all people by benefit of
birth in the effort that all people are able to live the most righteous lives.
Unfortunately, there are many places in the world where human rights are
systematically denied. One of these places is El Salvador, which is currently one of
twelve countries in the world that fosters a total ban on abortions. This legislation has
created a society that strips females of their ability to make choices regarding their
own body, causes them physical harm, and puts many women who do not abort into a
precarious economic situation. El Salvadorian women constantly face a multitude of
human rightsviolations despite the country s ratification of many human right s
documents, such as the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights and
The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
In El Salvador, there is currently widespread support for the legalization of abortion
yet the government refuses to supply females with the basic human right to life. The
circumstances faced by females in El Salvador represent an encroachment on the
human rights to life, medical care and an adequate standard of living, which require
immediate remedy through legislative change.
El Salvador s legislative history becomes a key factor in understanding how the
country s abortion ban constitutes a human rights violation. The 1956 Penal Code of
El Salvador explicitly stated that abortion was

Environmental groups support the native amazonians and would like to help them

the power to protect it. There are many things companies can do to stop deforestation
or at least bring it down to a much smaller amount than it currently is at. We can help
by supporting and buying products using recycled wood. If we support corporations
helping the problem of deforestation then other companies will join in and also start
to do things to stop the deforestation happening in the amazon rainforest. The
government has a super important role in the stopping of deforestation and needs to
do its part if we ever want to stop the shrinking of the amazon. In the United States
we have laws and treaties to stop illegal wood from getting into our markets and we
need to get these kind of things

The author Christopher Robertson proposes that the three alternatives come down to
two categories of moral questions. The first is due to under determination . All of the
conflicts come down to things such as the difference between dead and nonviable
embryos or the distinction of killing versus letting die. Robertson states, ...the
discussion must begin from clarification about the underlying factors that establish
our alleged duties to protect living human embryos, and those factors will then
define the contours of permissible scientific practice (Robertson). This quotation is
saying that before any alternatives are used it would be prudent to have established
definitions on these issues. The second category questions whether waiting to find a
moral alternative, that may not even work, is worthwhile instead of working directly
to find cures for diseases. Like the first question scientists and policy makers need to
have a conversation about what is more beneficial for the public(Robertson). To sum
up, this section makes readers think and poses difficult questions which add to the
merit of this excellent article.
In conclusion, this article was divided into three sections. It discussed the legal
background, how scientific progress can solve our ethical problems, and an analysis
of alternative solutions to the controversy of stem cell research. Each of these
sections explained in depth the dilemma that holds scientist back from stem cell
research, and provides thought provoking questions. Overall, the article Recent

Essay The Lady of Shallot
The Lady of Shallot
The Lady of Shallot, by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, acts as a voice for people struggling
with materialism of the industrial age. Tennyson became famous for reflecting the
idealism of an industrious society that was nonetheless racked by deep doubts about
its materialism (The Longman Anthology Of British Literature p. 1908). The curse of
the mysterious lady of the poem could be thought of as the curse of the people
subcombing to the dreaded materialism and giving up the Victorian innocent ideals.
Furthermore, the lady represents Tennyson himself as he suffered from a personal
battle between the desire for glamour s fame, and the need to stay an innocent poet. In

the outside world. She views the world from her mirror, as And Moving thro a

(LL.46 480). The darkness of shadows is her view of the world. The lady
demonstrates Tennysons had labor moral as her tapestries are to his poems with

mysterious lady, but who hath seen her wave her hand? /Or is she known in all the
land (LL.24 26).
When we look at Tennyson as content with his seclusion, we see also see a man who
also desired his poetry to be heard. . Perhaps it was the voice of disapproval foe
materialism to be heard from by the public, torn by the materialism brought with
fame. He had been said to have a desire to be famous, and was called the most
instinctive rebel against the society in which he was the most perfect conformist
(p.1911). The need for fame could be the temptation for materialism, or perhaps the
recluse giving into materialism gave leverage for his poems to be heard. The
conflict can be thought of as Tennyson s curse, causing opposing feelings. The curse
is reflected in The lady of Shallot. At first, the lady is content in seclusion. She
becomes mesmerizes by materialism of glittering gold of the Red Crosse Knight. His
Summary Of The Daring Recuse
The Daring Recuse
One sunny day Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were walking to a park near their
house. When out of nowhere a black Suburban pulled up alongside the twins, and
the driver asked if they wanted a ride to the park. Luke and Leia both said no , but
suddenly the Stormtroopers that were with the driver walked up behind the twins
catching them off guard. The Stormtroopers knocked out the twins and catching
them before they hit the sidewalk. When they got the twins in the black Suburban
they sped down the road (toward an abandoned warehouse). When the twins did
not return home at 1:30 p.m. Luke and Leia s parents Anakin and PadmГ© started
to worry, so they called the Miami Dade police. After an hour Lieutenant Horatio
Caine came to the Skywalker residence to talk to the parents of Luke and Leia and
where they were headed to. (There were several witnesses that said that they saw a
black Suburban pull up alongside the twin.) The Miami Dade police department
got right to work to find the missing twins. Meanwhile the black Suburban finally
came to a stop outside an abandoned warehouse. The Stormtroopers got out of the
black Suburban and pick up the twins and took them inside the warehouse. Back at
the police station Lieutenant Horatio Caine and his team were working hard
trying to find the twins. Meanwhile at the warehouse the twins were just waking up
to find that they were tied to a chair. The twins were freighted and they just wanted
to go home, but what they don t know is that the Miami Dade police were
searching for them. That is when Han Solo stepped out from behind the black
Suburban. As he approaches the freighted twins he asks them Do you know why
you are here? Luke says No. and Leia says the same thing. Han says let me tell you I
work for the Emperor of the Galactic Empire and he wanted Anakin Skywalker s
children because they would powerful and would make great Sith lords possibly
more powerful than Anakin. That is why you are here. Meanwhile Lieutenant
Horatio Caine and the Miami Dade police are investigating the kidnapping of Luke
and Leia. Meanwhile at the abandoned warehouse the Stormtroopers were hurting
the twins (breaking Luke s left arm, right leg, a few ribs as well as his left

Jack Ma (Ma, Yun), Alibaba of China s e commerce business
As a young Charismatic leader, how will Jack Ma overcome challenges of running a
big business and get success when going forward?
Alibaba Group, even only with 12years history, is one of the biggest e commerce

is for small firms to find customers and suppliers without going through middlemen,

The top two executives at Alibaba.com have resigned to accept responsibility.
In the statement from Alibaba, an internal investigation had found that about 100
sales staff and a number of supervisors and sales managers were directly responsible
in either intentionally or negligently allowing the fraudsters to evade various
controls. Conclusion of the investigation report is: Excessive pursuit of performance
makes the sales/managers to obtain short term economic interests by any means,
leading to the persistence of fraud. Jack Ma expressed his pity to lost 2 good leaders,
especially when they were not personally involved in the fraud for any direct
benefits. But Alibaba should be holding on the ethical principles, customer first
value. Jack Ma emphasized that Ethics is the baseline when pursuing for
performance. Although CEO or Alibaba.com David Wei had lead to 4 years big
increases, he still chose to agree his resignation. However, it shows that as the
company is getting bigger, Jack Ma met difficulty to drive his own values
principles to the whole organization sustainably, if just by personal influence. As a
big company already, should be Alibaba directed and managed by one people, or
managed based on effective systems are more important at this stage? The origin of
the fraud was: the performance evaluation system in B2B team(Alibaba.com) relies

The Colour Purple In The Color Purple
Purple is more than just a colour in Alice Walker s The Color Purple . The colour
can be seen to be representative of a number of ideas: it is, a colour suitable for
queens like Celie says; this means it is happiness; it is illuminating; it is freedom; it
is pain and beauty. Because of its symbolism, the colour purple can be seen to have a
significant influence on the characters growth throughout the novel and, therefore, is
an appropriate title for the novel.
The colour purple in the novel can be seen to represent pain and strength. This can
be seen when Celie sees Sofia in prison. At first glance Sofia is just about the colour
of an eggplant an eggplant is purple. Sofia s body is purple from being beaten up.
The colour purple in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has her own house and she now has the freedom to have as many happy
looking things in her own house; she does not have to buy any brown, maroon or
navy blue things just because those colours are not too happy looking for Mr____.
The purple things in her room are reminders of the hardships she had been through;
from being raped by her father to being raped by her husband. Yet, the colour purple
also represents all the beauty in her life like her sister s life, her relationship with
Shug Avery and her pants business.
When Celie paints her room purple, this also shows a sense of ownership and
agency; she takes charge of her life and happiness. Her room is her paradise; her
royal palace. Moreover, the colour purple represents her independence and
forgiveness: the little purple frog perch Mr_____ carved for her is a sign of her
forgiving Mr____.
I believe that The Color Purple is a fitting title for the novel due to the numerous
representations of the colour purple reflected above, and the way it reflects key
themes and moments of growth in the protagonist s life. Purple is not just a colour in
the novel, it has multiple representations that help the characters grow in various
ways. The representations help the characters find happiness. Find the beauty in their
lives and break away from
Film Fun Home By Alison Bechdel
Alison Bechdel s comic book Fun Home clearly portrays the importance of gender
roles in the society. She mentions in her book incidents which illustrate as to how
gender plays a major role in forming a person s identity. Throughout the book,
Bechdel suggests how the society has divided people into different genders on the
basis of appearance, duties and behavioural expectations. The society as a whole
needs to re asses these genderroles so that people don t end up ruining their life
thinking about what the society thinks.
In the beginning of the novel we see a difference of opinion between Bechdel and
her dad wherein, Bechdel wants to dress up her own way whereas her dad wants
her accessories to match her dress. This shows the importance of physical
appearance in the society. Throughout the story we see that Bechdel quarrels a lot
with her family in regard to her dress code. Her family seems to be always telling
her to wear appropriate clothes according to her gender. Bechdel seems to be
annoyed with this. She states, Wearing a black dress my father had wrestled me
into, I appear to be in mourning (35). This clearly shows how opposed she is to the
way her father had forced her to dress up. She is a young child who is unaware of
how gender appearances decide the character of a person. Bechdel doesn t care about
what the society thinks about her. For her dressing up the way she wants to is most
important. Another instance is when her dad forces her to

  • 1. Leadership Sample Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of leadership presents a multifaceted challenge that goes beyond the mere act of writing. The difficulty lies not only in the need for eloquence and coherence in expression but also in the nuanced understanding required to delve into the intricacies of leadership. One must navigate through a myriad of theories, styles, and real-world examples, striking a delicate balance between theory and practice. Moreover, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements that often pervade discussions on leadership. It demands the ability to offer a fresh perspective or a unique analysis that adds value to the discourse. Balancing the exploration of personal opinions with scholarly research adds another layer of complexity. • 2. The Importance Of Income For Professional Baseball Players Research was made in order to persuade the readers of how professional baseball players in today s society deserve the income they are receiving. Possessing the ability to play at a professional level is what makes these men truly worthy of their income. Considerable Income for Professional Baseball Players The average salary of a professional baseball player has been increased substantially throughout the past decades; a player today makes exceedingly more than they used to. Baseball is different from other sports due to the mental aspect of the game making it one of the hardest sports as a professional athlete. The uphill battle to become a professional at the sport of baseball is near impossible as talent is more frequent throughout the globe. Some argue whether baseball is a beneficial career to the community as other professions including firefighters, fireman, policeman, and nurses deserve the admiration more than a professional baseball player. Good ball players are always in demand throughout the league. MLB players are highly skilled athletes thus earning them the right to such a high income as they bring value to the organization and have put in dedicated hours of hard work, dedication, and practice throughout all levels of play. Consistency is what makes an average player an all star especially for Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins. Giancarlo racked up 59 home runs in the 2017 season. In The Case for Giancarlo Stanton , by Dickey, Keith, and Kwak explain,
  • 3. Reproductive Rights Book Report The book, Undivided Rights: Women of Color Organize for Reproductive Justice, was published by the South End Press and written by Marlene Gerber Fried, Loretta Ross, and Elena Gutierrez. Ultimately, due to the lack of inclusivity and representation during the mainstream reproductive movement in the 20th century, this book highlights the bravery and activism done by women of color and their grassroots organizations in order to combat racismand stereotypes as well as to broaden and redefine the meaning of reproductive rightsand reproductive justice, so as to ensure that all women, not just middle class white women, had their voices heard and addressed. With a thorough look at the various grassroots organizations as well as the various women of color behind them, I believe this book does an exceptional job at not only analyzing the historical contexts, but also analyzing the grassroots... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the mainstreaming of the reproductive rights movement, white women and their reproductive needs were constantly highlighted and addressed, while the women of color and the countless reproductive injustices that they faced were either overlooked or ignored. Therefore, had it not been for this book, many of us would still be under the impression that the overrepresentation of white middle class women as well as the emphasis on pro choice was normal and the only necessary facts to know about the reproductive rights movement of the 20th century. Moreover, because of the emphasis placed on grassroots organizations and their significance, it can also be argued that another purpose for writing this book was to show the importance and necessity of grassroots organizations, as they played a major role in impacting public policy in relation to reproductive rights and justice for women of
  • 4. Theme Of Honor In The Song Of Roland Honor Honor; honor is something that all will strive to achieve in life. Honor shapes people and without it, the world would be very contradistinct. But the concept of honor has changed over time. Today, honor is telling the truth, putting others before oneself, being kind, and protecting people no matter the cost. However, in the French epic, The Song of Roland honor is a very incommensurable thing. Honor is idealized by characters like Roland, Ganelon, and Marsilion as bravery to the point of stupidity and ultimately even death. Honor was not defending others, but safeguarding one s own reputation and legacy. And a multitudinous amount of characters in this epic put honor above all else, and it s not always smart. One particular character... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ganelon s main force of motivation was implementing revenge on Roland. Though that is somewhat understandable seeing as Roland had previously volunteered Ganelon to take part in an extremely dangerous task. A task which Ganelon agreed to take on for the sake of maintaining his honor. However, before he embarked on his journey he threatened Roland three times, which would later allow him to kill Roland in a legal, but more importantly honorable, way. When Ganelon returned from his journey unharmed he took it upon himself to rid the world of Roland. He appointed Roland to the army rear guard where his recklessness would surely bring his life to an end. But to his consternation, Roland ultimately chose to blow the horn which signaled for help. Eventually, Ganelon s vengeful spirit got the best of him and Charlemagne realized his plans for Roland and swiftly punished him; for Charlemagne had been far too trusting in previous times. One such person that Charlemagne wrongly trusted was Marsilion, King of Saragossa, and according to The Song of Roland, a hater of God s name. Marsilion was a man who craved honor so much that he was willing to do anything to get it, even the dishonorable. To the Saracen King, part of honor was being feared. And he had surely accomplished that by doing things such as chopping up foreign messengers and sending their remains back to their people. Marsilion saw glory, honor, and power as a package. A package that was
  • 5. The Story Of My Life At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not in your life, Sandi Lynn. The fear of losing a loved one is one of the worst things in life, and no matter how hard you try to get over it or how hard you fight against it, when the time comes, you are never going to be ready. I realized that when my grandfather died; too young to understand what death was, but old enough to experience the pain. Not only he died, also part of me did. I will always be by your side, my little princess, were the words that came to my mind as I walk down to where we would meet. I smiled, as I remembered how much fun we always had May 2009, Friday evening, I went out to the best pizza place in town, La Roca, to wait for my grandfather, who lived in another city and would come to visit me. As soon as I arrived I sat down in front of a big window, so that way we could appreciate the beautifulness of Mother Nature, something we both loved. For hours and hours, I waited patiently, and while waiting for him I remembered all the moments we shared together, all the places we went, and all the things he taught me, for example, to be strong. Since it was a while since we las met, I had so many things to tell him; I had earned two certificates of recognition and appreciation, and I also got all A s on my report card. I just wanted him to enter through the door so I could run into him with a big hug, but sadly he never showed up. His tardiness was
  • 6. During The Industrial Revolution Robber Barons During the Industrial Revolution, robber barons corrupted the government. The greedy robber barons overpowered the working class. With that massive wealth, they created monopolies. The robber barons corrupted the government during the Industrial Revolution by working the system. A way they worked the system was by the standard oil trust. Rockefeller drove competitors out of business by selling oil lower than the cost to make it. Once Rockefeller drove out all competition, the prices skyrocketed. By doing that he worked the system to be in control of all oil companies. Also, another way robber barons corrupted the government was by being exploiters. They were exploiters because they got European immigrants and children and took advantage
  • 7. George W. Bush s `` Fascist America `` And 10 Easy Steps... Imagine one morning, waking up and realizing that the country you used to know as the land of the free, was not free anymore. That your freedom of speech had been stripped away a long time ago. Imagine realizing that your right to vote and the right to have a say in the government had been gradually replaced by a dictatorship, and you were just now noticing it. In the 2007 article, Fascist America, in 10 Easy Steps Naomi Wolf argues that the Bush administration had begun to implement the ten steps to take down a democratic nation. The article addresses the ten steps that are basically a blueprint for turning an open society into a dictatorship (Wolf). Naomi Wolf compares past policies that dictators have enacted to 2007 American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The overall threat is usually spun so that a majority of the citizens experience the fear it is meant to create. A big part of creating this fear is deciding on what words to use when presenting the enemy to the public. The language used to convey the nature of the threat is different in a country such as Spain than it is in America (Wolf). For example, the citizens of Spain are told that there is a grave security threat whereas American citizens are lead to believe, that we are potentially threatened with the end of civilization. Of course, this makes us [Americans] more willing to accept restrictions on our freedoms (Wolf). The tactic of using different words to feed off larger fears of the public allows the leader to control a larger majority. It also allows them to exaggerate the fears of the nation by using more frightening and drastic words. Trump terrifies people into supporting him by preaching the horrors of the world and then promising them protection from the violence. (Donald Trump s Campaign of Fear) This fear tactic has been used by many dictators in the past, because it is so easily enacted. The leader presents an immediate danger to the public and then promises safety to whoever promises to support them. Most of the time a majority of the public supports the leader; they trade their discontent for the promise of safety. This willingness to give up something as important as your say in the government, for the feeling of safety, is a
  • 8. How Infant Attachment Is Affected By Mother Infant... INTRO It is no surprise that a parent s mental health and behavior can have an effect on a developing infant s ability to grow an attachment and a bond with said parent. This holds especially true for the bond between the mother and the infant, be it that on average the mother infant dyad spends the most one on one time together comparatively. According to Raval and colleagues (2001), a parent s state of mind influences their sensitivity in caregiving behavior, which then has an effect on the child s attachment pattern/strategy. There are a wide variety of other factors that can have an effect on an infant s developing attachment style, such as parental states of mind, parental attunement and attentiveness, genetic predisposition, prenatal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Avoidant infants regulate their attachment needs through exploration, and have mothers who are consistently unresponsive or unavailable. Resistant infants know that they cannot rely on their parent for their needs to be met, as they have mothers who have been inconsistently responsive. Disorganized/disoriented infants can be characterized as a severely confused child with a lack of apparent strategy by their parent to meet their needs. (Raval et al., 2001) MOTHER S RESPONSIVENESS Infant attachment styles are largely impacted by the responsiveness of the mother to the infant s needs and signals, but also by the behavior of the infant itself. The results of the study showed that greater maternal responsiveness was a predictive factor for secure infant attachment. For example, the secure infants had mothers who scored significantly higher scores for total responsiveness to the child s needs and signals than the mothers of avoidant children. (Raval et al., 2001) Raval and his colleagues (2001) also discovered that an infant s behavior is less influential than maternal behavior in shaping attachment patterns, though still influential. Shown in the results of the study, maternal sensitivity to the child s needs and signals, as well as maternal attachment to the child both make independent contributions to infant attachment. (Raval et al., 2001) PRENATAL BONDING Studies have shown that there is a correlation between the feelings and actions of the mother towards the

However, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all. First, the author argues that the history has showed that the invasion of the zebra mussel can be stoppable. Conversely, the lecturer underlines the fact that it is true which in the past the invasion of the zebra mussel in the new location in which it had been carried to was impossible to control because of lack of knowledge. • 10. The Cask Of Amontillado And The Birth-Mark Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne focus on concepts that relate to the darker side of the human experience by creating characters that embody the relationship between evil and abnormal psychology. The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe and The Birth Mark by Nathaniel Hawthorne feature characters that engage in an abnormal or unusual behavior and suffer from a flawed, obsessive psyche that causes them to commit evil or immoral acts. Montresor and Aylmer, the two main characters of each short story, both exhibit obsessive compulsive behavior with one character fixated on revenge and vengeance and the other attempting to transcend the limits of human capabilities by altering nature to achieve perfection. Poe and Hawthorne are suggesting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Montresor s obsession was rooted in wrath and vengeance against a man who supposedly had done him wrong. In fact, the very first line of the story discusses his plan for revenge, which implies just how severe his obsession was. Poe writes, The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge (116). This insinuates that Montresor has been dealing with this repetitive thoughts and obsessive behaviors for an extended period of time and that at this point, they are interfering with his ability to live normally. Poe continues with Montresor saying, It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong (116). This haunting line also implies that Montresor is completely consumed with this idea of revenge that he feels as though he has no other choice but to seek retaliation. This plays into the larger idea of the relationship between evil and abnormal psychology in a variety of ways. This indicates that Montresor was motivated by haunting, anxiety fueled obsessive thoughts to commit the murder of Fortunato because of his distorted perception of reality. Another example of this obsession can be seen when Montresor is discussing his intricate, pre mediated plan for his murder. He had thought about every possible detail of his master plan, from
  • 11. Recidivism Case Study Byllie Jo Kelley Re Entry: A second chance? or a set up for failure. Sociology 323 New Mexico Highlands University Recidivism is as to relapse in behavior; typically, in criminal behavior. Department of Justice Measurements of recidivism include new arrest, new convictions, returning to prison with a new sentence or reincarceration for rest of sentence. Astonishingly enough, with in a 5 year period in 2010 ,70% of offenders that were released had been reincarcerated, due to rescinding back to the life of crime. Regardless of demographic characteristics or the number of prior criminal offenses, studies show that federal prisoners placed on community supervision consistently had lower rates of recidivism than state prisoners. Among federal prisoners conditionally released from federal prison in 2005, half (47%) were arrested within 5 years, compared to more than three quarters (77%) of state prisoners released on community supervision in 2005. Federal prisoners (32%) also returned to prison less often than state prisoners (59%) during that time. Within 5 years of placement on community supervision, less than a third (30%) of federal prisoners had two or more arrests, compared to more than half (57%) of state prisoners. More than a third of federal prisoners (37%) had a nonfederal arrest and a third (29%) had a federal arrest within 5 years following their release. Seventy five percent of state prisoners had a nonfederal arrest and 4% had a federal arrest during that time. Overall, 67% of all new arrests among released federal prisoners were for nonfederal charges, compared to 98% among state prisoner (Recidivism of Offenders Placed on Federal Community, 2017) Many studies on the reasons behind recidivism have been conducted, and a majority of the rescind stems down to Re Entrance having many challenges due to past criminal labels applied. Reentry is not a specific program, but a process that starts when an individual is initially incarcerated and ends when he or she has been successfully reintegrated in the community as a law abiding citizen. (Second Chance Act , 2017) At what cost? What are the barriers that prevent them from success? Why are the recidivism rates rising every 5
  • 12. Sourcing In America International sell and purchase has provided tremendous growth for countries. There are advantages and disadvantages to sourcing overseas. Some of the common advantages to out sourcing overseas are low manufacturing cost and expertise of products (importcrashcourse.com). The disadvantages are language barriers, shipping time, as well as quality of products in some cases. Americans have found comfort in everyday life regarding products that were made in other countries. If Americans were to suddenly not be able to purchase products overseas they may find themselves at a lost for living a typical lifestyle. On a large scale it is typical to think of cars when first thinking of products that were not made in America. However, American society has products they use on a daily basis that are made overseas, such as the Apple iPhone. While the iPhone was designed in America, the manufacturing is out sourced to China, Korea, Taiwan and Mongolio (entrepreneur.com). There has been discussions regarding moving the manufacturing to the United States (US). However, the cost is a great concern, and has been the delay in the discussion to move forward with this idea. The workers as well as the rent for facilities are undeniably cheaper (smallbusiness.com). Therefore, the majority of products sold in the US are made in other

The ship was launched on May 27, 1943 and was later completed at the Industrial Canal Plant on December 8, 1943. For the American Navy, the boat was a critical asset in the days after Pearl Harbor when the United States were short on larger vessels and facing an onslaught of attacks from the Japanese. The actions of PT boat crews in the Philippines and Solomon Islands represent an outstanding example of the American Spirit in action. Everything except the weapons are fully operational. Its home is now a custom built boathouse on Lake Pontchartrain, where guests will be able to purchase tours and rides on the boat. We ve always tried to do things here that bring history to life in an unexpected way (NY Times, 1). The maneuver on Saturday, with the 50 ton boat riding on a 64 wheeled, remote controlled crawler, certainly caught some pedestrians by surprise. Others just had to see it with their own eyes. Jerry Lousteau s standard poodle, Satchmo, barked at the boat as it deftly navigated the right turn off Magazine Street onto St. Joseph Street a little after 7:30 a.m. Mr. Lousteau said that his father in law was wounded on Iwo Jima during the war, but he confessed he had come out because he just was fascinated by a giant moving operation (NY Times, 1).

The college was established in 1965 and is one of the ten campuses that makes up the University of Californiasystem. The University of California, Santa Cruz has over 60 diverse undergraduate programs in total and 40 graduate programs. Some of the more popular undergraduate programs include psychology, molecular and cell biology, art, and environmental studies. Students can also earn master s degrees in a wide variety of majors, including chemistry, history, mathematics, electrical engineering, and many others. Doctorates are also awarded at the college in psychology, physics, film digital media, computer science, and many others. UCSC has what is called a residential college system made up of ten separate buildings. Each college is not only aimed at specific areas of study, but each also has its own residential housing units. Once a student chooses one of these smaller colleges, which is a decision based highly on their major, they then complete all of their courses there until they earn their bachelor s degrees. This past spring break I was fortunate enough to travel to Arlington, Texas, with my youth group from my church. As a group, this would be our second time traveling to Arlington for a mission purpose. As an individual, Arlington changed me. When my youth group is traveling a long distance, we rent a couple of twelve passenger vans. Driving to Arlington takes about ten hours, including bathroom stops and lunch breaks. Every time my youth leader tells the group to go to the bathroom, no one listens. That is because we are teenagers and do not have the best listening skills. However, the number of studies on the axial stress strain behavior of FRP confined RC columns subjected to a cyclic axial compression loading has been going up slowly, particularly for noncircular RC columns. • 22. Loyalty In The Book Of Job In the book of Job, the faith of God s most devout follower is challenged repeatedly at the hand of the adversary. These tests of loyalty to God begin with the loss of many of Job s possessions and family members and end with an affliction of skin sores. Despite these occurrences and the urging of his wife and friends, Job remains entirely in reverence to the glory of God. From this text, it is apparent that one s faith and knowledge has more capability to provide happiness and ability than do material possessions. In the beginning of the book, the adversary challenges God s assertion that Job will continue to both worship and fear God unconditionally, telling God to ...Lay Your hand upon all that he has, and he will surely blaspheme You to Your face (Job 1:11). • 27. Using Art For A Message Hannah Tierney 18 November 2016 Using Art to Send a Message For centuries people have used art as a way to express the political views, or used artistic movements to express certain ideals. This can be seen in the idealized art of the Ancient Greeks, who strived to perfect the balance between man and nature, and portray harmony, balance, and democracy. In Nazi Germany, Hitler showcased art that was un German, anything reflecting Jewish or communist ideology, was displayed in the Degenerate art show. This movement was used as propaganda; Hitler showed the public all the art that was not German. Today, many artists mock the commercialization of the art world and society itself using pop art and othrr consumer trends in their work. In Ancient Greece, philosophy and ideology shaped the views of the people living in the first democratic state. The Greeks never established a single nation; instead, they lived in city states, and democracy began in Polis, later known as Athens. In Athens, artists strived to perfect their work and align it to the beliefs of the philosopher Pythagoras of Samos, who believed everything was based on mathematics and purification . The Ancient Greeks used their art to promote political, military, and religious ideology, depicting battle their victorious battles as though they were fought by the gods. The art of Ancient Greece was centered around religion and perfecting the balance between man, nature, and the divine. This mentality led to the

Class Distinctions and Internal Struggle in the Works of James Joyce In the early twentieth century, Ireland, and more specifically Dublin, was a place defined by class distinctions. There were the wealthy, worldly upper class who owned large, stately townhouses in the luxurious neighborhoods and the less fortunate, uneducated poor who lived in any shack they could afford in the middle of the city. For the most part, the affluent class was Protestant, while the struggling workers were overwhelmingly Catholic. These distinctions were the result of nearly a century of disparity in income, education, language, and occupation, and in turn were the fundamental bases for the internal struggle that many of Joyce s characters feel. ... She talks of how the area used to be a field full of carefree children, but is now nothing more than a plot of dwellings, presumably built to accommodate the wealthy as they move to the country, that contrast sharply with her own. She also delights at sitting with Frank in an area of the theater that was unfamiliar to her, probably because she could not normally afford the seats. Similarly, in A Little Cloud, Little Chandler passes a number of underprivileged, dirty children in the street but takes no notice of them, illustrating how common this scene was in the poorer areas of Dublin. Joyce also spends some time describing the establishment in which Little Chandler meets with Gallaher. He points out to the reader that Little Chandler did not have enough money to even consider entering the tavern before; he could not even hire a servant to help with the baby or pay off the furniture. The reader may also note that Mrs. Mooney of The Boarding House saves leftover bread scraps from breakfast to use the next day and locks up the sugar and butter, actions not expected of a woman with money. In Counterparts, Joyce tells of Farrington s low economic status by having him consider asking the cashier for an advance on his paycheck and mentally

Many people are frightened that a positive finding on a genetic test will result in discrimination and ostracism because the society will consider them abnormal (Easthope 2005). The other concern is that with genetic test information one might lose or might be unable to get a job or insurance. There have been concerns that with the knowledge of one s medical information after a gene test, he/she might suffer a psychological problem especially when the results reveal that one suffers from a terminal disease or has high possibility of suffering from one (Willis 2009). Victory at Donelson started Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant on his road to Appomattox and the White House. His cool judgment under pressure saved the day after the Confederates threatened to break his troop lines, yet errors by his opponents handed him a victory that he did not fully earn on his own. Possession of the better part of two states vital to the South depended on the outcome of the battle at Fort Donelson. When war began in April 1861, Kentucky declared its neutrality, in response to deep conflicts of opinion among its citizens. Considering neutrality impossible to maintain, North and South maneuvered for position once Kentucky was opened to military operations. The Confederates constructed fortifications on both the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers just south of the Kentucky line. They built Fort Henry on the Tennessee River, on ground susceptible to flooding, but chose higher ground for Fort Donelson on the Cumberland River. Investment in nursing is a potential system level intervention to reduce readmissions that policy makers and hospital administrators should consider in the new regulatory environment as they examine the quality of care delivered to US hospital patients. Although the majority of the literary piece focused on women who believe that they need to change their body in order to be good , it was still good for I would not have understood the full story of it because it would have been one sided. I recommend this book to the people who are so conscious of their own body type for I know that upon reading this, they will be able to learn a lot. This is for the reason that there is wise use of words that helped the readers
  • 38. Human Rights And The Rights Human rights are the most inalienable of rights, assured to all people by benefit of birth in the effort that all people are able to live the most righteous lives. Unfortunately, there are many places in the world where human rights are systematically denied. One of these places is El Salvador, which is currently one of twelve countries in the world that fosters a total ban on abortions. This legislation has created a society that strips females of their ability to make choices regarding their own body, causes them physical harm, and puts many women who do not abort into a precarious economic situation. El Salvadorian women constantly face a multitude of human rightsviolations despite the country s ratification of many human right s documents, such as the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights and The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. In El Salvador, there is currently widespread support for the legalization of abortion yet the government refuses to supply females with the basic human right to life. The circumstances faced by females in El Salvador represent an encroachment on the human rights to life, medical care and an adequate standard of living, which require immediate remedy through legislative change. El Salvador s legislative history becomes a key factor in understanding how the country s abortion ban constitutes a human rights violation. The 1956 Penal Code of El Salvador explicitly stated that abortion was

Rainforests used to cover 14% of the earth now they cover just 6% this is a huge amount of area we are destroying. This is because of the loggers and ranchers. The amazon rainforest is home to one third of the species in the world and 200 indigenous communities. The amazon holds one fourth of all the fresh water in the world along with one fifth of the world s forests. For these reasons i support environmental groups in the amazon rainforest. Environmental groups support the native amazonians and would like to help them keep their land. Here are some ways to stop deforestation. We can try to make corporations help, they have the power to destroy the rainforest but they also have the power to protect it. There are many things companies can do to stop deforestation or at least bring it down to a much smaller amount than it currently is at. We can help by supporting and buying products using recycled wood. If we support corporations helping the problem of deforestation then other companies will join in and also start to do things to stop the deforestation happening in the amazon rainforest. The government has a super important role in the stopping of deforestation and needs to do its part if we ever want to stop the shrinking of the amazon. In the United States we have laws and treaties to stop illegal wood from getting into our markets and we need to get these kind of things

The author Christopher Robertson proposes that the three alternatives come down to two categories of moral questions. The first is due to under determination . All of the conflicts come down to things such as the difference between dead and nonviable embryos or the distinction of killing versus letting die. Robertson states, ...the discussion must begin from clarification about the underlying factors that establish our alleged duties to protect living human embryos, and those factors will then define the contours of permissible scientific practice (Robertson). This quotation is saying that before any alternatives are used it would be prudent to have established definitions on these issues. The second category questions whether waiting to find a moral alternative, that may not even work, is worthwhile instead of working directly to find cures for diseases. Like the first question scientists and policy makers need to have a conversation about what is more beneficial for the public(Robertson). To sum up, this section makes readers think and poses difficult questions which add to the merit of this excellent article. In conclusion, this article was divided into three sections. Tennyson became famous for reflecting the idealism of an industrious society that was nonetheless racked by deep doubts about its materialism (The Longman Anthology Of British Literature p. 1908). The curse of the mysterious lady of the poem could be thought of as the curse of the people subcombing to the dreaded materialism and giving up the Victorian innocent ideals. The need for fame could be the temptation for materialism, or perhaps the recluse giving into materialism gave leverage for his poems to be heard. The conflict can be thought of as Tennyson s curse, causing opposing feelings. The curse is reflected in The lady of Shallot. At first, the lady is content in seclusion. Because of its symbolism, the colour purple can be seen to have a significant influence on the characters growth throughout the novel and, therefore, is an appropriate title for the novel. • 45. Film Fun Home By Alison Bechdel Alison Bechdel s comic book Fun Home clearly portrays the importance of gender roles in the society. She mentions in her book incidents which illustrate as to how gender plays a major role in forming a person s identity. Throughout the book, Bechdel suggests how the society has divided people into different genders on the basis of appearance, duties and behavioural expectations. The society as a whole needs to re asses these genderroles so that people don t end up ruining their life thinking about what the society thinks. In the beginning of the novel we see a difference of opinion between Bechdel and her dad wherein, Bechdel wants to dress up her own way whereas her dad wants her accessories to match her dress. This shows the importance of physical appearance in the society. Throughout the story we see that Bechdel quarrels a lot with her family in regard to her dress code. Her family seems to be always telling her to wear appropriate clothes according to her gender. Bechdel seems to be annoyed with this. She states, Wearing a black dress my father had wrestled me into, I appear to be in mourning (35). This clearly shows how opposed she is to the way her father had forced her to dress up. She is a young child who is unaware of how gender appearances decide the character of a person. Bechdel doesn t care about what the society thinks about her. For her dressing up the way she wants to is most important. Another instance is when her dad forces her to
