1. Sociology Essay Ideas
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Sociology Essay Ideas" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty arises from the vast and intricate nature of sociology, which
encompasses a broad range of topics and theories. Choosing the right idea to explore requires
careful consideration of current societal issues, theoretical perspectives, and the writer's own
interests.
Researching for relevant and up-to-date sources is another hurdle. Sociology is a dynamic field,
with theories evolving and adapting to societal changes. Keeping abreast of the latest research
and incorporating diverse perspectives can be time-consuming but is essential for constructing a
well-rounded essay.
Structuring the essay poses its own set of challenges. Balancing the introduction, body, and
conclusion while presenting a coherent argument can be demanding. The essay should not only
showcase a deep understanding of sociological concepts but also effectively communicate the
author's thoughts in a logical and persuasive manner.
Moreover, addressing potential counterarguments and engaging with opposing viewpoints adds
an extra layer of complexity. A successful sociology essay should demonstrate critical thinking,
analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize information from various sources.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the broad and multifaceted theme of "Sociology Essay Ideas"
demands dedication, research skills, and the ability to think critically. However, the process can
be simplified by breaking down the topic, focusing on specific aspects, and carefully structuring
the essay to convey a well-thought-out argument.
For those who find the task overwhelming, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Similar
essays and more can be ordered on platforms like HelpWriting.net, where experienced writers

2. Youth Environmental Stewardship Paper
Introduction Youth Environmental Stewardship (YES), one of the major programs in
Rural Action, provides an exceptionable opportunity for all kids to learn about the
forest and the ecology system in Ohio. In addition, those activities will not only help
children to learn some survival skills and how to communicate with others, but also
offer an effective occasion to promote the relationship between youth and their
parents. However, our team found the flaws and the areas can be improved. The
strength, weakness, opportunity and threat will be illustrated in the next four
sections. Strength First of all, the strength of the Youth Environmental Stewardship is
assisting youth to start to build the ability of teamwork and leadership. In fact,... Show

The schools that majority of youth have spent more than ten years to study in, are
wonderful places to educate them the knowledge of the ecology and environment and
expand YES services widely. In the article Environmental Stewardship and
Sustainability , Tulipane (2009) introduces that we should build more facilities,
programs and associate with local schools, even systems in order to help children and
teenagers to invest in our future. Furthermore, Clean Annapolis River Project
(CARP), non governmental organization, has already worked with school to engage
youth to participate to the environment. There is a short video on YouTube that calls
Youth Leading Environmental Change which was uploaded by CARP. There are two
groups of young boys and girls which evaluate their experience in this program.
Several young girls mentioned that they do not learn much about environment in
class, and their teachers said that they need to spend more time on math and self
ability instead of on the environment; they actually learn a lot from the program, such
as group work and protect the environment. Thus, those information indicates that it
is a wonderful chance to expand the service of Rural

Yukio Mishima s The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea Existentialist Views
On Death
Cultures all over the world have different convictions surrounding the final, inevitable
end for all humans death. In the United States, and in most Westernized cultures we
tend to view death as something that can be avoided through the use of medicine,
artificial respiration machines, and the like. To us, death is not a simple passing,
and usually, we do not accept it as a normal part of life. Death, to Westernized folk,
is not celebrated, but is rather something to be feared, something that haunts us all in
the back of our minds. However, this mentality is not held through all cultures in

Many existentialists believe that religious, metaphysical, agnostic or atheistic
convictions alter the true meaninglessness of the act, but that through understanding
death as being meaningless, we actually add to the meaning in our own lives. If a
human becomes capable of accepting courageously, as the boys did, the absolute
certainty of his death, he grows more authentic and begins to fill his life with new
meaning. In fact, there is a close correlation between the courage to face the
unavoidablity of death, and then through that, to find a balanced view and
perspective on their place in the living world. This idea is not just shown in
existentialist literature like The Sailor, but is embedded within literature that we all
grew up with. In many ways, a simple fairy tale can have numerous parallels with
Mishima s ideologies. For example, in one fairy tale the story of a chivalrous knight
a knight must go out into the woods on an agreed upon day to face the Green Knight,
who represents death. Here, he has to let the mysterious knight cut off his head. As he
goes into the forest, accepting his impending death, he meets a beautiful princess, and
stays with her for three days. This hostess thrice attempts to seduce him but to no
avail. Bound by his chivalrous duties as a knight, the young man goes out into the
woods to meet with

She expresses her objection to the idea, but she has no choice in the matter. As
they travel about in pursuit of their objective they bicker plenty of times. Agent 99
is upset that Max is leading them even though he has less experience than her. This
leads to a conflict in which they argue about who is the better agent, in which Max
brings up his superior test scores and agent 99 brings up her advanced experience.
Often times Max will reveal a gadget that he has obtained from his friends from
control, Bruce and Lloyd, and after explaining how it works he will mockingly add
a You don t have one of these? Hmm. After having this done to her a couple of
times and getting tired of hearing it, agent 99 gets out her explosive tooth floss,
looks at Max, and says in a mocking tone You don t have one of these? Hmm.
Devito explains that interpersonal conflict is an inevitable thing and that it can
positive or negative effects (278). Among the negative effects are increased
negative feelings, depleted energy, and possible barriers to greater intimacy. The
positive effects include solving a problem before it has any chances to grow and
avoiding a buildup of hatred towards one s partner. Devito also explains how conflict
can be focused on relationship or content issues (279). Conflict centered on content
will revolve around a physical object like the what to watch on TV or which house to
buy, whereas conflicts centered on relationship

This is suggested from the Nancy and Harvey Heffner experience. When the couple s
son became sick hotel staff brought him tea at all hours of night. This implies that all
departments (restaurant, reception, room service) were involved and worked very
closely with each other to provide this service.
The feedback is very important part in the transformational process as it allows
continues improvement to be made after receiving customers feedbacks. This
therefore will inevitably minimise any complaints in the future. The examples of
collecting feedback from the customers can be by surveys of departing guests,
comment cards, telephone surveys, oral feedback between the customer and the staff.
Some 94% report that they ve had a truly memorable experience. (case study)
In hotel operations there is a balance between the facilities and staff as one cannot
function without another. When looking at the model above, the transformation
processes such as materials, information and customers are closely connected with
the nature of its transformed input resources. Ritz Carlton s operations, processes

6. The Church Of The Martyrs
A church without youth is a church without a future. Moreover, youth without a
church is youth without a future. this is a quote from the former pope of
Alexandria, Pope Shenouda III. Pope Shenouda passed away about four years ago
and his episcopate lasted for over 40 years. The Coptic church has commonly been
referred to by historians as the Church of the Martyrs (A Brief History of the
Christian Church). It was given this name due to the desire of martyrdom rather than
the multitude of martyrs. The five main points of its history are the origins of Coptic
Orthodox Christianity, monasticism, contributions to Christendom, the ecumenical
councils and the church today. It is believed that the Coptic church of Egypt was
the first church ever created; it was founded by Saint Mark in approximately 42
AD. (Osman) Saint Mark is also considered to be the first bishop and pope of
Alexandria. However, it wasn t until the late second century when Christianity was
truly established in Egypt. During the second century the roman emperors had
begun to persecute the Coptic Orthodox Christians formerly known as Copts; yet
as previously stated these Copts would not hide, instead they would openly
worship unafraid of death, because it is said that martyrdom isn t the end of a life,
it is believed to be an entry to a new life. The very first persecution against the Copts
was in 68 AD when Saint Mark suffered martyrdom by pagan extremists. Then for
seven years in the early second century

Emergency management is the process of preparing for and responding to disasters.
Disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, and floods cannot be

event of an emergency or crisis, God offers us instructions on biblical survival

Principles for Cognizing the Sacred
Today we need a scientific analysis of basic world views which expresses genuine
understanding of the sacred. Such world views hold the main principles for cognizing
reality. A substratum understanding of the Sacred is characteristic of mythology and
magic, wherein all spiritual phenomena are closely connected with a material or
corporeal bearer. Functional understanding of the Sacred is developed by the earliest
civilizations in which the spiritual is separated from the material. For example, Plato,
Aristotle, and Neoplatonism created European functional theology. Substantial
understanding of the Sacred appears in Christianity. Here we find the synthesis of
substratum and functional peculiarities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Soviet period, В«idealismВ» and В«materialismВ» emerged as a departure
from ideological philosophy. For example, V.P. Kuzmin distinguished between
В«systematicalВ» and В«meta systematicalВ» understanding of objects. He also
showed the appropriate stages and levels through which one could develop a true
understanding of an object s essence.(1) A.Tchanyshev emphasized naturalistic and
anthropomorphic principles for cognizing the essence of objects,(2) whereas B.T.
Grigorian, through the principles of objectivism and subjectivism, made it possible to
comprehend the notion of essence with regard to human beings.(3) Yu.A. Shreider
juxtaposed naturalistic and individualistic principles for cognizing the world.(4) S.N.
Smirnov emphasized functional and structural principles for the development of a
scientific interpretation of objects.(5) S. Petrov distinguished between structural,
functional, phenomenological, and substratum substantial principles,(6) B.M. Kedrov
between functional and substratum principles,(7) while A.R. Sokolov worked mainly
with functional substantial principles.(8) In the works of the authors mentioned
above, one can discern the will to deny the dogmata of State Marxism in favour of a
dialogue with Western philosophical and Church traditions.
Today there have emerged quite new possibilities for such dialogue, although there
remains a number of basic problems to be solved. One of the most important, is the
11. Analysis Of Firstlife
Firstlife is a fantasy novel similar to our world where there are two after life s: two
heavens and one hell. Gena Showalter has built a world which lets her show us a
side to the human mind which we don t look at very often. This twisting and
turning plot shows how quickly a person s point of view can change when we learn
something we didn t know before. Characters are stuck in a world where there next
life will be decided on which heaventhey chose sign their allegiance to, and they are
polar opposites of each others. Since this is a fantasy world there are some big
differences with it from the one we live in currently. While it has its similarities there
are some major differences with it and ours. Starting with the biggest differencethere
are three after lifes: the Troikarealm, the Myriad realm and the Realm of Many
Ends. Currently people today have no idea what happens when we die. Many
religions have many different ways that our lives end. These versions are some
variation on hell and heaven to varying degrees, others believe there is nothing or
that our spirits haunt the world of the living. In Firstlife, the first realm that people
can go to is Troika. This is a realm where the sun never stops shining. This realm is
devoted to helping others and bringing truth to the unknowing. Valuing the human
s life and the right to choose, even if it means that they will be harmed by this
choice. Humans who chose to sing with them are offered the same as the next
person, no exceptions. They create family with each new member added to their
rank. There motto being Light Brings Sight! (9). Myriad on the other hand is
almost the exact opposite. This is a realm where the night never comes to a stop.
When they aren t indulging themselves the work hard to accomplish what task they
are give. While Troika give a set deal for everyone no matter who you are, Myriad
are willing to talk to see what they can offer you in the first life as well as the
afterlife. The more you want the more you can get because to them, Might Equals
Right! (17). The Realm of Many Ends was a realm originally created for criminals
but eventually became the place where those who are unsigned went. This realm is

part the Candy Survivors need is their eyeball on the back of their head. Without

obesity was running everybody s lives and they needed to do something about it.
They gathered up all the candy and sweets taking it all to the edge of Earth. Then
as a group effort they threw all the things off the edge of the earth. The candy and

them. After a few days of floating five of the lollipops started to grow bigger and

13. Paperback Vs Ebook Essay
Introduction: For many years the only way for people to read books was from a
paperback. When books first originated there was not enough technology to have
ebooks. Although now that we have ebooks today, still some people rather read an
actual materialistic book. The same concept applies with maps. For years people
would have to have paper maps in their vehicles to know where to go. Now we have
the technology to be able to type an address in our smart phones and it will take us
there. I will talk about the pros and cons of each type of bookand map. There are
many ways also that the two conceptual models are similar and different.
Paperback Vs. Ebook: Paperback books have been around for a long time. The main
concept of a paperback book was to be able to put many pages together into one to

Before maps travelers would use the sun to tell the time and direction they are
traveling. Although in this paper I am only worried about paper maps and
smartphone maps. The main Concept of a paper map would be the ability to
follow your trip as you go easily. A map would have every road that is accessible
by vehicle, a person would then have to look and memorize their turns, unless they
have the map out all the time. The main concept of a smart phone map would be
the ability to have a device track your trip for you. A smart phone map will have a
line that you can follow and give you step by step instructions on where to go.
Therefore, this conceptual model is better than the paper based map. There are
many ways that the paper map and the smart phone map differ. One way is the
number of roads that you can view on each. Having a smart phone map, you can
look at roads all over the world. With a paper based map, the number of roads you
can see are limited. There are many different paper maps for every area of the world,
but it is inconvenient to have to have many
14. Save The Whales Screw The Dump By Joy Williams
Summary
In her essay Save the Whales, Screw the Shrimp , Joy Williams attacks modern day
indifference towards the environment, the root cause of the ecological crisis.
Williams uses a satirical tone and dramatic writing to create an active dialogue
between herself and the reader. She amplifies her concern for nature by showing
disbelief and anger at humanity s selfish actions. Williams argues that nature has
become industrialized into a commodity bringing negative impacts to the
environment. Humans pay no attention to the environment around them because it is
easier to endure death without thinking about it than to endure the thought of death
without dying (139). Williams begins with a strict criticism of the reader s
ignominious character; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The line You see a picture of a baby condor... And your heart sinks doesn t it?
directly makes readers empathize with a cute and helpless creature(139). By
bluntly telling readers how they should feel Williams successfully extracts heartfelt
reactions from the reader. Once Williams controls the reader s emotional state she
shatters reality by explaining these cute and heart sinking moments are actually
impending dooms(139). These pictures are now filled with feelings of shock and
frustration and the once joyous imagery is replaced with sadness and inevitably.
Her juxtaposition of beautiful scenery with inevitable claws of evils reflects the
reader s life. The modern society is filled with happy imagery but no one seems to
care that there is no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.
Following this darker look on nature, Williams begins to question the reader on
whether it is too late. These repetitive questions reaffirm the previous guilt and
inevitably to recover the already impacted environment. This aggressive accusation
makes readers feel as if they were the cause of the doom and persuades them to find
a ray of hope. In turn, these questions also allow William to directly give suggestions
on how to act in the

just have so many other important things to worry about besides getting a good

alcohol seem to be some of culprits that cause sleep deprivation. Short term, sleep

16. The Historical Context In The Catcher In The Rye
The historical context in The Catcher in the Rye reveals the book was written
during a period of anguish. As stated by Daniel Burt, ...a prosperous postwar period
that gave rise to suburban conformity and teenage angst, (Burt 2). This quote states
that what was going on in society at that time was how Holden was feeling. The
feeling of teenage rebellion and depression were taking over his life and leading
him to do immoral things. Based on the quote above, we can see how Holden
created a cultural mordancy that his readers can easily detect, leading to the
thought that this book was created under the impression of loss and a world gone
wrong. Burt writes, Salinger s novel, observes Louis Menand, provides adolescents
with a layer of psychic insulation. Critic Harold Bloom speaks to the novel s
enduring influence when he states, The Catcher in the Rye struck a nerve for one
generation, but it seems to appeal to sensitive young people in later generations as
well... (Burt 3). This quote states that the novel has created a huge impact on society
and has left an image that the book can be quite insulting. Because of this, we can
see that this book is not only a mockery of society but is unfit for teens to read.
According to Hochman and Mueller, Whether Holden s sense of society and culture
comes from rebelling against prep school, family, friends, teachers, maturation, and
even death, his character continuously scrapes against the grain of societal pressures

Nothing moves until the left shoulder moves in the backswing. The left elevated
shoulder, because the proper grip on a club drops the right shoulder and hand. An
inclined triangle is formed by the shoulder joints and the interlocked hands when
both elbows are straight. This triangle forms a very strong and repeatable base, for
the upper body, at the start of the initial back swing. This view should be from the
three o clock toward the nine o clock position on the clock face. The previous
relationship about proper distance from the golfball, spine angle and hand position
remains. Most golfers believe that after completing the initial back swing, and

With a mid iron, start with the grip, initial stance, base shoulder triangle with a club
extending down the left side of the triangle. Don t touch the ground with the club.
At this point your forward lean, or spine angle should be set, and the club head
held three of four inches above the ground. A lawn with grass, that you don t mind
damaging, would be perfect. Do not dip knees or change your spine angle at all.
Start by slowly swinging your base triangle back and forth along our clock face,
seven o clock to one o clock pathway. A couple of feet each way, until you feel your
left knee wanting to follow or bend. Remember your elevated left shoulder joint
starts everything. If it moves, the whole triangle moves. As you swing right, the
right leg does not move, it is a pivot. The right hip will start to rotate back. Relax
the right side, let it swing back to the left almost by its self. The right hip and knee
can bend toward the front and left. When the left shoulder moves, it moves down
and to the right as the right shoulder moves back and up. Move smoothly and
rhythmically, back and forth without abrupt stops, almost a dance with no spine
angle changes. When you have done this a dozen or so times, expand it into a full
swing with a little more movement each time. When you are fairly sure of your
swing, have someone you trust, take moving pictures of you with your phone.
They should be far enough away to easily show the whole club throughout the
swing in a landscape not a portrait format. Views should be taken from the three o
clock and the six o clock positions. You should be able to watch in slow motion and
then make adjustments if necessary. Do not cross the pathway on the clock face,
with the club head anywhere. Start increasing your spine angle. This will lower your
club face and allow you to start hitting, but not gouging into the grass. Bend only at
the hips and keep the spine
18. The Pros And Cons Of Asymmetrical Warfare
Asymmetrical warfare is an appealing choice to those who may not have a military
force to use. This type of warfare is a murderous tactic and has become more
popular war tactic since the end of the cold world war. To resort to terror is not
always chosen because the enemy is more powerful. It can happen between two
great powers as the conflict becomes a total war and societies escalate against each
other cutting away civilized restraints. For example, in 1950s Strategic Air
Command targeteers would find ways to cause bonus damage by aiming blasts so
adjacent towns would be destroyed as well (Howard Hoffman, 2012). The goal here
was not to kill civilians per se, but to wreak havoc on the enemy s economy. This
type of strategic attackcan be hard to understand, but even states with legitimate
purposes have sometimes resorted to this strategy in order to revert to a single
standard which puts deliberate attacks against civilians beyond pale.
Primacy and asymmetrical warfare is also seen when the power is grossly
imbalanced. In these cases, using terror to coerce may seem like the only effective
way to force the weaker side. This leaves them with the choice to surrender or be
savage back. Radical Muslim zealots are a good example. They cannot compete with
American power or with conventional military means, so they substitute attacks on
high profile political targets to make the biggest impact (Howard Hoffman, 2012).
The hijacking of U.S. airliners and using

While the circus is an amusing way to spend the afternoon with family, it s often
been proven that circus owners do not treat their animals well. This can make them
dangerous to the employees of the circus as well as the patrons.
Animals in the Circus
Lions, tigers and elephants don t perform tricks because they like to jump through
hoops of fire. They are trained to perform these tricks. Often that training can involve
positive enforcement through rewards, but those who are against animals in circuses
allege that many circuses abuse their animals. In 2009, Ringling Brothers, a well
known circus, went to trial to defend themselves against a charge of animal abuse.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2009/02/ringling bros c.html
They were charged with mistreating the elephants in their circus under the
Endangered Species Act, which was brought about by private citizens who saw the
abuse. Many animals in the circus spend hours in a box while traveling to the

20. Forms Of Sexual Hypocrisy In George Eliot s Middlemarch
The 19th century literature depicts the bodily desire largely rather than being
enunciated explicitly. The forms of love and desire in this era has philosophical,
historical and aesthetic contexts. Visual arts and literature has shaped love in this
time. The Victorian period on one hand where publicly used to have a respectable
discussion on sexuality, on the other hand had undeniable modesty in matters of
speech, gesture and clothing.
There was once a society which is still held above all others to be the paradigm of
sexual hypocrisy. An ostensibly, even ostentatiously virtuous society which furtively
broke its own rules of conduct; a society which had nothing to say on sexual matters
but left them but left them to the professionals. The summary image of Victorian
Society is extraordinarily tenacious.
The novel Middlemarch written by George Eliot (1871 1872) enjoyed immense
popularity as it dominated the European Literature in the 18th century. Eliot
showcases social values and personal importance by theorizing desire in her novel.
The scene between Dorothea Brooke and Will Ladislaw in the library at Ludwick,

perpetually desirous novel reader. Kurnick argues that Middlemarch as a 19th century

21. Council Of Clermont Analysis
In 1095 C.E. Pope Urban II made a speech at the Council of Clermont in France, to
mount the first Crusade to rescue the Holy Land from the Muslims (Seljuk Turks)
and return it back to the Christians. Primarily religion and secondly economic gain
would be the motivational factors to flow on from the Crusades.
By way of background leading to the Pope s call at Clermont, the Emperor of the
Byzantine Empire asked Pope Urban II to help drive the Muslims out of the Holy
Land, hence the historic speech, in 1095, the Pope gave at the Council of
Clermont. The Knights of Europe were promised forgiveness of their sins if they
went on the crusade to rescue the Holy Land. An army of Knights, nobles and
ordinary people re captured Jerusalem in 1099. Many more crusades would follow
but they were not as successful as the first crusade. For instance, many writers, such
as Fulcher of Chatres, wrote about the crusades, which he was a part of. He wrote of
how brutal and bloody they were and that many Crusaders committed acts of murder

In other words the participants used the quest for other motivational gains, besides
the primary motivation of religion. Some of the reasons may have included: to
obey the Pope s call; promise Salvation as the eternal reward ; forgiveness of past
sins (very important for the Knights); to have an adventure and prove their bravery;
to gain financially through possession of foreign land and for the peasants (the
Serfs) who were owned by their Lords, were promised freedom by the Pope.
There were economic gains and losses. The economic strain of joining the Crusades
was draining. Soldiers were expected to finance their journey to the Holy Land,
which was difficult even after they had sold their land and personal goods. The
Church gave them little money and they took on the majority of the

In New Zealand Maori s are facing many health related issues. This essay is about a
health issue relevant to Maori population. Cardiovascular disease as the most
common health issue among Maori. The essay explores the details of CVD and its
relevant demographics. The importance of the Treaty of Waitangi in this context and
explained the historical factors relevant to CVD. Finally, a significant health policy
related to CVD is described and a community health programme is identified to
implement the health strategy.
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is considered as one of the most common disease
condition among Maori. CVD is a group of diseases include ischaemic heart disease
(IHD), heart failure, rheumatic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease (stroke) and
other forms of vascular and heart disease (Northland DHB, 2007).
Ischaemic heart disease: Ischaemic heart disease is a leading cause of cardiovascular
disease or heart disease in New Zealand and it may cause angina, heart failure and
myocardial infraction. In 2000 2004 New Zealand health survey reported that, around
18% for Maori deaths are because of ischemic heart disease, whereas 23% of non
Maori (Robson, B Harris, R. 2007).
Stroke: Stroke is also known as brain attack , is a sudden interruption of blood flow

Conflict management assumes that conflict is a constant feature of group life. The
idea is to keep it within boundaries, not to eliminate it. Conflict resolution sees
conflict as an interruption of normal life.ii The idea is to find a solution usually a
compromise as quickly as possible. Conflict cannot be avoided, yet how religious
leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the community handles
conflict that arises. The stories and teachings of the Bible assume that conflict and
change are a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders,
we can be the voice that highlights overlooked insights and methods while
acknowledging and affirming the emotions in the conversation and what each person
has at stake in the decision making. People cause conflict. We can either further the
conflict or squander it with our actions.
The conflict that is dealt with, discussed, managed, and resolved can be good. This
kind of conflict provides an opportunity for growth and creative change. On the other
hand, the conflict that is left unattended and ignored can destroy unity, hinder growth,
and render ministry ineffective. Poorly managed situations can lead to increased
tension, decreased productivity, and lingering resentments that can last a very long

communication and teamwork, more innovative ideas, and increased motivation. We

26. Mexican Social Realists and Harlem Renaissance
Mexican Social Realists and Harlem Renaissance
Poverty has always been an issue throughout centuries. In most areas living
conditions were horrible due to wars, and corruption within cities and states. Most
families lost their male sons to the draft of the war at the ages of 6 years or older.
Families struggled and did what they had to, to maintain a home as well as food for
their families. Because of this Social Realism was successful. Social Realism was an
international movement that many artists and composers where a part of. This
movement highlights inequalities of capitalism, and gave the chance to these artists
and composers to express everyday living conditions of the working class and the
poor through their work. Diego Rivera is one of those artists that through his work
showed the struggle of the poor, he was one of the most famous muralists in the
Mexican Social Realism. The Harlem Renaissance was known as the New Negro
Movement where African Americans where forced out of Southern states to the
urban areas due to the Great Migration. Jacob Lawrence was one of those that
expressed his thought on the Great Migration describing it as the push and pull
factors.
Diego Rivera was known for a muralist of the Mexican Social Realism. This
movement was the brutality of WWI. It attacked capitalist. Rivera was a communist,
he believed in the common ownership in social, political, and economic ideology that
strived to maintain social order. One example of this
27. Wealth Inequality In America
In America, we can describe wealth inequality as the unequal distribution of assets
within a population. The United States exhibits wider disparities of wealth between
rich and poor than any other major developed nation (Wealth inequality). The way
wealth is defined is by equating the net worth which is the total sum of you assets
minus liabilities. What includes in assets is everything that you own such as personal
residence, stocks, real estate, and retirement accounts. Now, liabilities cover what a
household owes such as, credit card balance, student loan, a car loan, etc... Over the
years the average wealthhas increased over the past 50 years, but unfortunately it
has not grown equally for all groups. The best official U.S. source of data on
household wealth distribution comes from the Federal Reserve Survey of
Consumer Finances, an in depth survey of the finances of some 6,000 American
families conducted every three years over the past three decades. The wealth share

28. Clinical Recruitment
Recruitment of subjects for clinical research trial participation has become
increasingly challenging. It is becoming more difficult to recruit study patients for
many reasons: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) along with the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) are increasingly demanding the generalization (a
representative sampling of people in the real world) of study participants, institutional
review board (IRB) restrictions, increased pressure on researchsites to perform,
various scandals, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
All of these factors are increasing the cost of medical research drastically which in
turn raises the cost of the medications they are producing. Many of these issues,
particularly the scandals, have been played out in the media in the most... Show more

At the clinical site level, sufficient planning, time, money, effort and staff for
recruitment are rarely adequate. There are a vast array of activities that the clinical
staff need to attend to including training, identifying the study population, eliminating
ineligible patients, and contacting potential participants through a variety of methods.
Subject recruitment becomes even more difficult once the study is under way and
actual study activities commence. In addition, as the cost of clinical research
continues to rise, pharmaceutical companies are unwilling to provide the funds
necessary to recruit effectively and the sponsors (pharmaceutical companies) are
unwilling to reimburse the clinical sites for their effort. Subject recruitment has a
direct impact on study retention. Clinical trials are dependent on people staying in
the study until the very end. Without that subject retention, statistical analysis for
safety and efficacy becomes nearly impossible. All of this starts with the pre
screening and recruitment of quality subjects for any clinical

What have been some of the main criticisms of the Hawthorne studies? Can the
findings of the Hawthorne studies validly be used in Asian workplaces today?
Introduction The Hawthorne studies was a series of studies that took place at
Hawthorne Works, Chicago that manufacture telephones equipments for American
Telephone and Telegraph company (AT amp;T). It involves a series of investigations
that tap into the importance of work behavior and attitudes of a variety of physical,
economic, and social variables (Carey 1967). To prove this theories right, an
investigation comprising of five stages were conducted throughout 1927 to 1932

Ironically, the results were that productivity actually decreased. This was due to
suspicion arising from the workers that their productivity may have increase to justify
the laying off of other workers. The men were afraid that if they increase their
productivity level, the company s base rate will be lowered. It was later discovered
that these men formed informal work group who created their own sets of norms that
satisfies personal and corporate needs. These informal groups had their own social
hierarchy which controlled group members and manage their bosses. Other
Criticisms of Hawthorne Studies The experiments main purpose was steered towards
factors affecting productivity. Too much emphasis was placed on human effort
instead of technological assists. Human aspects alone cannot improve production and
we need to turn to better technology and machines to significantly increase output.
Hence, factors like environment or incentives cannot be used as the sole contributions
affecting worker s productivity but also the peripherals such as improved machines
and equipments. Another criticism would be the huge emphasis the experiment
placed on group decision making. Some argued that the individual s opinion should
not be neglected especially during situations when an immediate decision was
needed. Lastly, there is an over importance of freedom for workers during the
experiment. This diminishes the constructive role

For a consumer, this means paying a lower price for goods than one would pay in
any other market type (Pettinger 2012). An example of perfect competition can be
seen in a small amount of wheat being grown by a farmer because no matter how
much is grown, the market price will not change (O Sullivan, Sheffrin, Perez
2014). Perfect competition is helpful for a consumer because the prices are usually
low and stable as demand meets with price to create equilibrium. The next topic
discussed in the music video was monopolies (AP Econ Music Video
Microeconomics SPHS 2009). A monopoly can be seen when the number of
people selling is large, products being sold are different, and coming into and
leaving the market is simple. Zero economic profit will be made by the competitor
in the long run, but this still creates the issue of the consumer overpaying for goods
and services (O Sullivan, Sheffrin, Perez 2014). The consumer will not be able to
replace the good because it is difficult to find substitutes for monopolized products
(Manuel n.d.). Anti trust laws were put into act in order to create fair competition
between businesses (O Sullivan, Sheffrin, Perez 2014) and this is positive for the
consumer. The consumer needs to understand monopolies because there are many
existing today and they can be harmful.

Here, we extend the weak KAM and Aubry Mather theories to optimal switching
problems. We consider three issues: the analysis of the calculus of variations
problem, the study of a generalized weak KAM theorem for solutions of weakly
coupled systems of Hamilton Jacobi equations, and the long time behavior of time
dependent systems. We prove the existence and regularity of actionminimizers, obtain
necessary conditions for minimality, extend Fathi s weak KAM theorem, and
describe the asymptotic limit of the generalized Lax Oleinik semigroup.

Recently, several authors have investigated random switching problems, their weakly
coupled Hamilton Jacobi equations [1], the corresponding extensions of the weak
KAM and Aubry Mather theory [1], the long time behavior of solutions [1], and
homogenization questions [1]. In these references, as in the present paper, the state of
the systems has different modes. However, in those problems, the switching between
modes is driven by a random process. In contrast, here, the switches occur at
deterministic times as considered [1]. Our results complement the earlier research in
[1] and provide the counterpart of the aforementioned results for the optimal
switching problem.
Setting of the problem. Let [1] be a compact, connected Riemannian manifold, [1]
its tangent bundle, and [1] a finite set of modes. The (multimodal) Lagrangian, [1],
is, for each [1], a Tonelli Lagrangian, [1], prescribing the running cost at the mode

both state and mode at each time. We denote by [1] the set of all absolutely
continuous curves from [1] into [1], and by [1] the set of all piecewise constant
functions on [1] taking values on [1]. More precisely, [1] if there exists a partition

Recently, there has been an occurrence of a disturbing new trend worldwide: the
rise of the transgender community. These people are dangerous and should be kept

a threat to gender secure people everywhere. Gender secure people are clearly the
only ones who can think logically and know exactly how to live their lives.

Irony is most noticeable in how the author declares how transgender people have
no idea who they are and gender secure people do. As the majority of society
knows, every single person struggles with periods of self identity issues. Nobody
truly knows who they are supposed to be until they have spent some time sifting
through their own mind. Irony is also evident in the sentence Let s face it: do
people really believe that someone who cross dresses as the opposite sex can
actually be brave or strong? This sentence is ironic because it takes a great deal of
strength bravery for transgender people to express themselves and show the world
who they truly are. The satire also uses exaggeration, like in the writings of
Jonathan Swift. For example, the satire says, These cross dressing freaks are little
more than a circus sideshow attraction. This is exaggeration because although
transgender people do cross dress, they are not necessarily circus freaks . They are
real people who think and have feelings like those who are gender secure. These
people are not sideshow attraction freaks who exist exclusively for people s
entertainment. Sentences such as These people are dangerous and should be kept far

What is life?
In Mary Shelly s Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein creates his own living creature.
In today s world, the use of Chimeras, gene editing, and cloning are being
experimented more and more. Is this an example of man trying to take up God s
role as the Creator of life? The bible defines life as God breathed. It states that
humans are created in the image of God. Man was given dominion over the rest of
creation, not other humans. God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and
increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the
birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground (Genesis
1:28). The moral questions in Frankenstein relate to the use of chimeras, gene editing,
and cloning in today s world.
Chimeras
Chimeras are animal human hybrid embryos. This is the process of using Chimeras

37. Analysis Of Federico Garcia Lorca s Blood Wedding
Looking through Federico Garcia Lorca s works, we can clearly see that he was
very much influenced by many aspects of nature. So, it is no wonder that in this
play, Blood Wedding the character of The Moon is influenced by integral parts of
the natural world. This character, is one of the most important as it drives the plot
of towards a very emotional and tragic end. In Blood Wedding, Federico Garcia
Lorca gave us a portrayal of his version of the moon, he provides a masculine and
ambiguous figure, cold and blood thirsty, which is quite unusual as the moon is often
represented as feminine and its associated with innocence and purity.
The moon is an omniscient character, and in this play, it can be seen as a symbol of
death, as it is in its full form, which could be interpreted as if it s the end of the cycle
of life.
At the full stage, the moon stops being a symbol of light and hope, but instead, it
turns into a sign of tragedy. ВЎNo haya sombra ni emboscada! ВЎQue no puedan
escaparse! This quote shows that the moon is foreshadowing the tragic ending of the
two lovers, and it may symbolise fate as it says that they won t escape, making it
look like it s their destiny.
Even though, the moon is seen as innocence, throughout much of Spanish literature
the moon represents madness and unconsciousness. As Rupert Allen wrote in his
book Psyche and Symbol in the Theatre of Federico Garcia Lorca , that The moon
is like the blade of a knife poised in the air and waiting to destroy (185). This quote
can help us understand the role and function of the moon in Blood Wedding because

38. Continuity Editing And Montage Editing Analysis
Within the editing process, directors and editors have different choices as to how they
wish the final product to be edited together, and the method in which they choose to
do that greatly affects the overall quality of the film. Two major methods are
continuity editing and montage editing. First, continuity editingfocuses on describing
scenes within the filmwhere shots that are relevant to each other come together
seamlessly, and they maintain continuity and physical appearance of everything in
the shots to create a story sequence that is easy and enjoyable to watch. Montage
editing, however, uses shots that wouldn t usually be shown together in continuity,
but when they are put together correctly they have the potential to create either...

The knowledge given by the three articles unlocks potential for the amateur and
student filmmakers, and it can be applied to any given assignment or any personal
project in the future. Even for the professional director, these methods must be the
standard if they wish to produce a quality film, because these methods have proven
to result in films that are both groundbreaking and awarded for their editing; films
old and new. Unlike continuity editing, montage editing has two separate strategies.
One strategy being Hollywood, and the second being Soviet. The Soviet montage is
the montage that induces emotions from the audience, while Hollywood montage is
used to tell a story that occurs over a long period of time. The Hollywood montage
shrinks the long story into one that can last as little as a minute. It is clear that
despite the difference in these editing methods, continuity and montage, they are
capable of resulting in something great when applied and followed correctly, and it
is vital for every filmmaker, new or experienced, to learn them and utilize
39. Empress Theodora Summary
The thesis of C.E Mallet s article The Empress Theodora focuses upon trying to
vindicate Empress Theodora s reputation by examining evidence brought against her
by Procopius in his work Secret History. The structure of the argument entails the
author presenting evidence from historians of Byzantium (primarily using Procopius)
and contrasting them against accounts of records of Theodora s time as well as
findings of contemporary historians. Mallet presents accusations made by Procopius
in Secret History also referred to as Anecdotes and aims to either validate the claims
or prove them wrong through cross referencing other recorded findings about
Theodora. The context of this article focuses upon Empress Theodora. Empress

He references specific claims made by Procopius in Secret History and then to the
best of his ability discusses the position. He uses findings of contemporary experts
to support or refute the claims made against the Empress. By presenting the reader
with ample evidence he tries to validate the actions of Theodora, and analyze
instances where she may have not acted appropriately and abused her powerful
position as Empress. The research conducted by Mallet finds that in Procopius s
Secret History Theodora s private life is shoddily explained and in many instances
doesn t utilize facts that can be corroborated by any records of the time. He
suggests that the stories presented in Secret History of Theodora s life before
becoming empress are merely gossip and most likely based off rumors. Considering
no primary record survives of her life pre Empress Mallet suggests that one must
examine the facts and the evidence when deciding Theodora s character and not

Comparing Shakespeare s Play, Hamlet and Milton s Play, Samson Agonistes: The
Mental Awakenings of Hamlet and Samson
In William Shakespeare s play Hamlet and in John Milton s play Samson Agonistes,
both title characters undergo an intellectual metamorphosis, each becoming more
and more aware of the power of his mind as he learns to master it. Despite a
difference of almost 50 years between the writing of each of these plays, Hamelet
being composed in 1601 and Samson Agonistes not being completed until circa 1646
1648, both reflect a preoccupation of the 17th century shared by both authors, the
emergence of the mind and the human reason.

Vaccinations: The Right to Choose Is requiring vaccinations overstepping the
bounds of our right to make our own medical choices for ourselves as well as for
our children? Or, is it safe and necessary for the greater good to prevent deadly
diseases? Are those who choose not to vaccinate themselves or their children
putting the rest of the population at risk? Where should the line, if any, be drawn?
Why are more and more people using exemptions to vaccinations? How safe and
effective are vaccinations? I will share important information on both sides of the
issue to help you decide the answers to these questions. Currently, all fifty U.S.
states offer a medical exemption from vaccinations. This means that someone could
be exempt from receiving one or all of the vaccines based on medical necessity. For
example, those who have compromised or weakened immune systems should be able
to get a medical exemption. These exemptions require permission from a medical
physician and getting them is difficult as most doctors in the mainstream medical
community support and encourage vaccinations. There are two other types of
exemptions religious and philosophical. As of October 2016, three states California,
West Virginia, and Mississippi do not offer either of these. They are medical
exemption states only. Of the remaining states, 32 of them offer medical and religious
exemptions. Only the remaining 18 states offer all three exemptions. These numbers

Background Research
The topic is Chemistry of Making Ice Cream: Lowering the Freezing Point of Water.
In this experiment the scientist will be researching how to lower the freezing point of
water using salt and/or sugar. The Independent Variable in this experiment is the
solutes that the scientist uses which are, chemicals that dissolve in liquids. The
Dependent Variable is the temperature/freezing points of the substances(В°C). A
constant is this experiment would be the use of salt and sugar and the control would
be the pure water because it is important for determining the freezing point of the
water in the experiment.

The salt content lowers the oceans freezing point so that conditions have to be a
lot colder to make it freezes. (David Bradley, 2009). To understand all of this, you
first need to understand the freezing point of water. Water freezes at 0(В°C) or
32(В°F). However, adding salt or sugar or a substance as those listed, could change
the freezing point of water.
The freezing point of ocean water is 28.4 (В°F) this is due to the amount of salt
found in the ocean, at least 10 percent of the oceans water freezes and becomes ice,
but the only part that freezes is the actual water itself while everything underneath
is salt water. The polar ice caps are made out of fresh water, up to 15 percent of the
oceans water is always frozen. In the ocean there is around 35 grams of salt for every
1000 units of water.
When adding sugar to pure water it also lowers the freezing point of water because
it becomes a mixture. If sugar is sprinkled on ice it mixes with the warmest layer of
water creating a sugar water mix that pushes all the remaining sugar water underneath
the ice layer making it freeze. The movement of pure water molecules slow down
through the sugar water

Artificial Selection
Over the evolution of dogs, artificial selection from humans has moulded the
different types of dogs we have today. Humans have used artificial selection to
create breeds of dogs that we see as useful for different tasks. There are around 340
different breeds of dogs around the world that are recognised by the World Canine
Organisation.
An example that I am going to use is artificial selection of working dogs
(Huntaways) used in the farming industry. Artificial breeding has been extremely
important in ensuring that you are breeding the best dogs for the job. This means
that farmers will breed their best dogs together to ensure that he has high quality
working dogs. Farmers that also compete in dog trialling, breed the dogs that are
best suited to the sport of dog trialling together because there is no point breeding a
high quality working dog with a Labrador because you will only end up going
backwards in terms of producing high quality working dogs.
Farmers breeding different breeds of working dogs together meant that they could
select for the traits that they wanted developed the Huntaway breed. This is a very
good example of artificial selection because they bred the dogs that have the traits
that they want and don t breed the dogs that have traits that they don t want. The
traits of Huntaways that good working dogs posses include a loud deep sounding
bark, medium to large frame body with great

For my whole life, I have grown up watching and playing Australian Rules football,
so I knew immediately that I wanted to research a particular aspect of the game. I
wanted to look at the importance of skills in the AFL (Australian Rules Football)
and the influence of coaches in developing these skills to improve a player s game.
These ideas came together to produce 5my research question which is To what extent
can a coach have an impact on an AFL team? I created many sub questions in order
to break this question down into different parts. To achieve my overall aim, I needed
to examine the qualities, which a coach possessed, in order to get the best out of his

from multiple sources economists mostly all agree there is little if not any impact.
If every sports team in Chicago were to suddenly disappear, the impact on the

about the same impact on a community as a midsize department store. (Bergman,

When researching how the salaries work for the top 15 picks for the NBA draft.
We find the league has made significant rule changes and regulations over the
years. The league has come far when it comes to salary cap rules and regulations,
the administration of the league is trying to make it as equal a playing field as
possible. This is why the draft lottery is instilled which no other Pro league does.
Essentially it works like it sounds it s a lottery. There are 16 teams that do not
make the playoffs every year and they all become a part of the draft lottery. The
team with the worse record has the highest chance to win the pick but it s not
guaranteed and as the records get better you have less and less percentage chance at

48. Reflection Paper On Perseverance
Research Reflection
Before I began researching I was really passionate about the ability to persevere
and I knew I wanted to talk about perseverance and explain why it was such an
essential characteristic to have. I especially wanted to find examples of many
others that had to persevere to get through their own tough times. But when I
originally started researching my topic I did not exactly have anything in mind
about what I was exactly looking for. This was mainly due to that I had the ideas in
my head but did not know how to put those in a way that I could deliver it for the
whole class to understand. So as I began researching I focused on just using
perseverance in school, like not giving up after not getting a concept the first time.
But after looking through a few articles I found many examples of when
perseverance was used in other ways, such as building things for society or ways in
which one can be successful. This then broadened my perspective on perseverance
and showed me the benefits of it.
The Grit: the Power of Passion and Perseverance. Ted Talk video was extremely
helpful for my research since it gave me numerous amounts of examples of how the
main thing that distinguishes kids for who they are is perseverance. I found out that
one s intelligence quality is not determined by their test scores, but rather it is
determined by how they improve on making those test scores the best they can be.
Most of the things in the Ted Talk I had heard about before or
49. Analysis Of Flying By Alice Miller
Flying, by Alice Miller is a complex story about a woman named Allie, who
reminisces about a time spent when her cousin Mack taught her to fly when she
was just a young girl. On different occasions when Mack visited, he would show her
how to do new things. As Allie grew up she found herself thinking of the secret that
Mack shared with her and how he told her not to tell anyone or she may get hurt.
Allie longed for the feeling of flying, if she could just reach out and talk to Mack
but too much time had passed. She dreams of flying in her sleep, not for long
periods of time, but just enough to embrace that feeling she had years ago. She
wonders if many people have experienced flying the way that she has and if she
could fly by herself without Mack. One day, Allie tries to fly on her own and
succeeds, soaring higher than she did with Mack. Before Allie knew it, she was
flying through the clouds and around town. Now that Allie has experienced the
feeling of flying again, more than ever she wanted to share with her kids. One
night after the children were asleep she wanted to share her secret with her boys
but instead chose her daughter. Miller suggests that when a person is afraid of
doing something on their own, sometimes it just takes a little bit of courage to step
out and let go of the things that could be holding a person back. Allie appears to be
a lonely person, although married and with three children of her own. She has no one
that she can share her secret of
50. Foam Will Be The Most Effective Insulating Material
It was hypothesised that the foam would be the most effective insulating material.
After testing each of the variables twice and calculating the averages and rates, the
hypothesis was supported by the data collected. It was hypothesised that foam would
be the best insulator because of the material s dense properties and the air pockets in
the foam that can absorb heatmolecules. The hypothesis was supported as foam
contains portions of air bubbles that trap heat in the process of convection, and can
therefore contain the heat without considerable amounts of heat discharging. The
controlled variable was the least effective insulator as the heat was able emit through
the process of convection which can only occur in liquids and gases, such as air....

The results recorded, occurred because foam is an efficient insulator. Foam is a
effectual insulator as the material has efficient amounts of trapped gas bubbles,
which obstructs heat molecules from colliding together in them; therefore hindering
the heat transfers in conduction. The control variable, air, was supported as an
ineffective insulator as it allowed the heat to be released from the water into the
gas, air. Air is inept as an insulator as convection occurs in liquids and gases, such
as air. Air has no solid element to trap the heat in the process of convection that
occurs in air, as opposed to the gas bubbles in

Since International Relations has been academically studied Realism has been the

Cold War, however, brought strength and momentum to the Liberalism theory. Today
Realism and Liberalism are the two major paradigms of International Relations. The
aforementioned theories focus on the international system and the external factors
that can lead to two phenomena conflict and cooperation. Realism believes that as a
result of anarchy and the security dilemma, conflict is inevitable. Liberalismargues

This belief faced significant criticism, however, since free trade between states of
different stages of development can result in a relationship in which the less
developed state is dependent on the more developed state ( global South to North
dependency). Many beliefs related to Liberalism actually face criticism as a result of
an imbalance of power and influence between states. The Democratic Peace Theory,
for example, suggests that conflict between two democratic states is unlikely less
likely than conflict between two non liberal states or conflict between a liberal and
non liberal state. While history would suggest this to be true, there are multiple
factors that contribute to this truth. For one, liberal states tend to be wealthier than
non liberal states. This means that they have less incentive to start war than a less
wealthy state. Additionally, liberal states tend to have amicable relations with other
liberal states take Canada and USA for

53. The Importance Of Intercultural Dialogue In Canada
Multi culturalism pervades Canada as a nation, a predominately immigrant driven
and sustained country that seems at times to indicate overtly and in part covert
inferences from those who slip through the cycle of immigration without the
opportunity of engaging and by extension impacting the conversation on intercultural
dialogue in Canada. One can cite that majority of Canada s population is comprised
of diverse ethnic and cultural background of immigrants yet the term visible minority
has been harnessed to dichotomize its immigrant community, bit of oxymoron
possibly. Luzviminda, an extremely creative expression of dialogue between Canada
and the various ethnicities that seek to improve or enrich there lives and those of
there love ones. Its epitomizes another avenue of communicative osmosis of cultures
that s enhances and penetrates the social, political and cultural platform from which
they initiate and exchange dialogue. I cannot negate the that fact, while Canada
frames the space for such migration to be possible for immigrant population, it goes
without say that the benefit is dual in nature. Canada s socio economic paradigm is
by virtue very much at a perpetual advantage as a result of its expeditious growth
from the immigrant community. Luzvinminda, stands as a representation of this
intercultural dialogue. Dr. Patrick Alcedo, Associate Professor of the Department of
