Honor Killing Is The Murder Of A Member
There are always sets of law in every country, when people do wrong things or break the rule, they
will be punished according to the regulation. Therefore, each country has different rules and
punishments, which depend on its culture. Back to Roman time, there was a rule known as Honor
killing and that was the first time honor killing was started. It began with males who retained the right
to kill an unmarried female when she had done something related to sexual activities. Honor killing is
the murder of a member within the family by the other members. The males often kill the female
member as they belief that the female has brought dishonor to the family and the community for many
reasons such as engaging sexual activities without marriage. The killing shows the way to save the
honor and reputation of the family. In Pakistan, honor killing is known as KARO KARI. Karo means
black male and Kari means black female . Once a woman in the family is known as Kari, family
members will consider themselves to be authorized to live are preserved to be chastity, women must
be able to follow social restrictive cultural practices which related to women s status and family honor,
such as the practice of purdah and the segregation of genders. Most of the murders relates to
inheritance problem, feud setting, or get rid of the wife, for instance in order to re marry. The
researcher would like to discuss the purpose of honor killing in Pakistan, the reasons why are they

Editha, by William Dean Howells Essay
William Dean Howells was an advocate of realism in writing; he believed that literary art should
reflect the reality of the common man and demonstrate the truth of everyday current issues. He
believed in truthful writing and he accepted very little at face value. He practiced this belief in his own
writing, and his story called Editha is a good example of this. In this ironic tragedy, W.D. Howells
shows the truth and nature of war. He uses a combination of metaphoric characters, irony, and the
pathos appeal to create an almost grotesque parody of the reality of war. In final analysis, Howells is
successful in highlighting the consequences of war and inspiring the audience to question the wisdom
of those who advocate armed conflict. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, the author uses George as a metaphor for those who would fight, kill, and die in the war;
this element is an important part of the author s persuasive strategy. W.D. Howells wants to appeal to
the values and the emotional sensibility of his audience, for this reason, Howells portrays George as
passive and unsure of himself. George is fearful of the war and he sees no glory in it. He believes that
God is peaceful and the idea that God would advocate for war runs counter to George s belief in
peace. In short, the author uses George s story to illustrate the consequences of war for the reader. This
strategy works to persuade a resistant audience to relate to George, hence, lowering their resistance to
the anti war message of this piece.
W.D. Howells uses irony to illuminate the difference of perspective and conflict of interest between
Editha and George. Editha is so busy trying to fix what she believes is wrong with George; she does
not recognize the flaws in her own thinking. She secretly sees George as less than he is because of his
peaceful nature, and she does not imagine that George is aware of her low regard of him. Editha uses
three reasons to support her advocacy for the war, first, that to fight in the war will be glorious.
Second, that the war is ordained by God, and third, that to fight for the country is to show devotion or
loyalty. Similarly, war advocates have used these same reasons to rally the citizens to battle in past
wartimes.

Taking a Look at Breast Cancer
Nearly one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in her or his
life (Breast Cancer Health Center, 2014). I am sure that almost everyone has been affected by breast
cancer in one way or another, whether they had it or know someone who has had it. My mom s aunt
had breast cancer, as did my dad s mother. My great aunt luckily caught it early on and had it taken
care of. Unfortunately, my grandmother caught it too late; it had spread all over her body and
eventually ended up being the cause of her death. It is important to know the risk factors of developing
breast cancer and what you can do to help prevent it, as well as knowing treatment options if you or
someone you know is diagnosed with it.
Breast cancer develops in the breast tissue. It develops primarily in the milk ducts or glands, and can
travel to other parts of the body. Even if it has traveled elsewhere, it is still called breast cancer. If it
has spread, it will usually be referred to as metastatic or advanced breast cancer (Breast Cancer Health
Center, 2014).
Although breast cancer can occur in both males and females, it is a lot more common in females. In
fact, men account for just one percent of all breast cancer cases. Breast cancer is the most common
cancer among women. In addition, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths only being preceded
by lung cancer. Early detection of breast cancer can be lifesaving. If breast cancer is detected early on,
it is

Resource Leveling Issue Analysis Paper
When a project manager identifies that resources must be leveled within certain areas of the project he
or she should utilize resource leveling approaches. Resource leveling examines the unequal utilization
of resources and makes them equally available through the project. One of the risks associated with
resource leveling is the decrease in productivity as a result of resources shifting from one task or area
to another. In the case of the resources in question being people, teams from where these employees
will be coming from to support the other task might feel additional workloads which in turn could lead
to unhappiness in team members, and can result in decreased productivity (Damci, Arditi Polat, 2013,
p 679). Resource leveling becomes a double edge sword for the project manager. It could create the
same issue that is trying to solve if not carefully analyzed by the project manager before commencing

project does not seem to move forward at the desired speed. My advice to the head of the PMO is to
approve the leveling of resources. I am very familiar with other projects within the organization and
have identify several of them that are employing more of the necessary employees and have more time
to complete the project. My solution is to take on qualified staff member for the other four projects
managed by the PMO and create an additional team that will allow our project to move forward and
finish as intended. By doing this other projects will not encounter the same issues that our project has
face since only one person will be taken from their already strong workforce. Also, this will be done
with zero additional cost to the organization since no new employees will be hired, just reallocated

The Physics Of Roller Coasters
Ever since the first commercial roller coaster was built in the United States in 1884, roller coasters
have been seen in amusement parks all around the world. These rides, seen in all shapes and sizes, are
widely recognized for their thrills. At sudden twists and turns, riders experience large levels of
excitement. But what makes a roller coaster so exciting? The answer is physics. In the process of
designing roller coasters, engineers use concepts such as Newton s three laws of motion to make
loops, corkscrews, hills, and jumps possible. How these concepts are put to work can be seen in
examples of roller coasters throughout history.
The first forms of the roller coaster were seen in St. Petersburg, Russia as early as the 1600s. Piles of
ice were built about 70 feet high, and thrillseekers would slide down wooden, icy ramps built on these
Russian mountains . Catherine the Great, whose reign of Russia lasted from 1762 to 1796, boosted this
custom when she had wheels placed on her sleigh for summer use. Eventually, a French traveler
introduced this Russian tradition to France. The French learned to build a track with a groove down
the middle for use in a warmer climate than Russia. French thrillseekers would then fit a bench with
wheels on the groove and proceed to coast down the track sideways.
The major reason roller coasters are known for their thrills is because of physics. Physics is the
science of matter and energy and their interactions. In the early

Cellulitis Case Studies
The chief complaint is left knee, foot and calf soreness and ankle swelling without any injury for
approximately seven days. He states that he has pain in his left knee, soreness to his calf with swelling
and redness to his left ankle but no temperature changes to his left leg or foot. He states that his calf
pain increases with dorsiflexion of his left foot; therefore he has a positive Homan s sign. He describes
the pain in his knee as pressure and rates the pain as 4/10. These symptoms lead to the concerns of
deep venous thrombosis (DVT).
Differential diagnosis:
1. DVT
2. Cellulitis
3. Superficial thrombophlebitis
4. Muscle strain or tear
5. Osteoarthritis
The considerations in the differential include the listed symptoms. The possibility of a DVT is the
most urgent and requires immediate evaluation due to the potential consequences to the patient. The
patient has a positive Homan s sign, reduced pulses, the swelling of the left lower leg. This diagnosis
is likely. The diagnosis of cellulitis is also a possibility due to the redness along with the swelling of
the lower left extremity. However, the patient s body temperature is normal, indicating the lack of

A DVT is a venous blood clot that occurs as a result of the interaction of several factors. These include
venous stasis, activation of blood coagulation and damage to the endothelial lining of the vein (Patel,
2015). The result is increased viscosity of circulating blood and the formation of thrombus. The blood
test that is used to determine the presence of DVT is D dimer. The level of D dimer remains elevated
for 7 days after the formation of a DVT. Blood tests of prothrombin time and partial prothrombin time
are also obtained to determine coagulopathy. The gold standard for the diagnosis for DVT is a Doppler

Behavior Patterns Of Wolf Behavior
By: Lara Drum The behavior of wolves can vary greatly, different seasons can mean different
behavior patterns. When the wolf of one pack enters the territory of another wolf pack the behaviors
can be very aggressive. Wolves live in family units called packs, they are very social animals and
usually do not do well individually. The pack is usually made up of the alpha or the leader of the pack.
The alpha is usually both a male and female in the group that are a breeding pair. The pack is usually
comprised of the offspring of the alphas pair from the several years of pups. The leaders of the pack
are the bosses and determine when the pack will hunt, sleep, travel, or even play. The alphas almost
always east first. (Wolf Ecology and Behavior, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wolves are carnivores, meaning they eat only meat. Wolves prey on ungulates, these are large hoofed
animals such as deer and moose. This is their favorite meals, but they have been known to hunt and
eat beaver, rabbits, and small mammals. Wolves that do not live in Minnesota like to eat caribou, elk,
mountain goats, big horn sheep, and even buffalo. The fact that wolves eat these animals and helps to
control the population of these prey animals. This helps the prey populations to not get disease and
spread them. Wolves hunt in the pack, this means they all work together to take down an animal or
two. They often segregate the chosen prey and will circle around it. The alphas almost always eat first,
then usually the pups and other members of the pack. Wolves need to eat around 3 7 pounds of meat a
day, this equals about 15 20 adult deer a year. But wolves do not eat every day they may go many days
without eating and then eat large amounts to sustain them to the next meal. (Hunting and feeding

have great abilities to do things. Mammals do not give birth to their youngs in an egg form on a

also different than reptiles such as bearded dragons because they are warm blooded so they can stay in
the cold and they also have hair and fur so they can lose that anytime when they get hot. Many
mammals just shiver in the cold such as dogs. Reptiles do not give birth to their youngs right away.
Also, reptiles are cold blooded and do not need fur to survive cold places. Reptiles such as frogs can

What Was The Compromise Of 1877-1960
1877 1960 s in our country is something to be remembered. It was a time of segregation, not only
forced by the government, but enforced by the KKK as well. The Compromise of 1877, Jim Crow law,
and Plessy v Fergusson were the events that shaped us into the nation we are today. 1865 1877 was
when everything within the nation was thriving. Most freed slaves were learning to read and write,
and were indulging in everything our country had to offer them. Agriculture was at an all time high,
and there didn t seem to be an end in sight. But as the sun sets in November 1876, it rose upon a new
nation, a land engulfed in hatred, segregation, and fear. The Compromise of 1877 is best clarified
when the election of 1876 is explained in detail. The

Female Characters In A Lesson Before Dying
The fictional town of Bayonne in A Lesson Before Dying is based on a plantation where the author
Ernest J. Gaines was born. This novel took place in the late 1940s a time when radical discrimination
was a major problem, and the Jim Crow laws validated segregation and discrimination. Although the
major personalities are males, there are three female characters that influence the males to solve the
difficulties in their life they would usually ignore. Each female character persuades and motivates
Jefferson and Grant from running away from their responsibilities. Tante Lou and Miss Emma
convince Grant to make Jefferson die like a man and not a hog, and Vivian makes Grant stay in the
quarter and not run away from his purpose in his life.
One of the first female characters introduced is Miss Emma, Jefferson s godmother. The first
description of Miss Emma is in the courtroom where she is described as a heavy set woman weighing
approximately two hundred pounds. We know she is a caring woman because while in the courtroom
she never got up to use the bathroom or get a glass of water. Even though she may not be strong
enough to sway the juries mind or protect Jefferson of the unfair sentencing of death by electrocution.
She is strong enough to stay in the courtroom and give the support that Jefferson needs. Everyone by
now knew what the outcome would be for Jefferson. Gaines illustrates the reason why Miss Emma
and the other blacks were upset was because his defense attorney called

overtime you can see the different phycological problems of Norman develop into Schizophrenia
where he suppresses the murders that he commits in his mind making him dissociated with his crimes
and never showing remorse (Schmalleger, 2012). When doing our reading this week, it discussed that
some violent dissociated killers would return to the crime or show up at the victims grave site, and this
is what made me think of this show to answer this question.

I Am Sam s Mental Retardation
I am Sam was quite possibly one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. I was personally very
moved by the entire story. I learned a lot about how these kinds of cases usually pan out for those that
are mentally disabled. I had not ever thought of a story like this, but now that I was opened to these
kinds of issues in the lives of people with mental disabilities, I am glad that I watched this movie and
gain some insight.
Sam faced several psychological issues in this story. Out of all the psychological issues this movie
portrays Sam to have, his mental retardation is the one that is the main focus of the story. This movie
goes to show that his intelligence is that of a seven year old. This escalades the story because as his
daughter begins school, her intelligence grows larger than her fathers, which is the center of the
problem throughout this story. In the beginning, the movies goes to show that Sam has a case of
obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Throughout the movie, they continue to show his case by first
organizing the artificial sugars at Starbucks to finally, near the end, organizing alcohol pads from
Pizza Hut. Along with OCD, we find out from the help of the lawyer fighting against him in court, that
Sam also has autistic tendencies. Also, in several parts throughout the movie, Sam shows behavior
such as going to a certain restaurant the same time every week, and having to eat a certain thing at a
certain place, or else he becomes very upset. Along with

Examples Of Composite Toe Boot
Composite Toe Boot : Definition and Usefulness
In the work boot world, there are generally two options to choose from; composite toe boots and steel
toed boots. Both have various similarities and differences but we will save the comparisons for
another time. Today, we re here to talk about what a composite toe boot is and how it is best used
around the work site.
What is a Composite Toe Boot?
A composite toe boot (or comp toe if you want to be hip) is quickly becoming the industry standard
compared to steel toe. While steel toe is made of steel (no surprise there) composite toe boots are
made of other, non metal materials. Things like Kevlar, plastic or even fiberglass are all fair game. For
those that don t know, Kevlar is the material ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s not every day that most people go through metal detectors but for some workers, it s the norm. It
may seem like a minor thing but walking through a metal detector without setting it off every time is
an added benefit. That is exactly what happens with a composite toe boot. You can work in an
environment without fear of upsetting any nearby metal detectors. Again, if you don t work in an area
where this is an issue, then perhaps it s not a big deal. However, to others, it s these small features that
make composite toe boots a better choice.
IS a composite boot toe right for you?
Now that you know the ins and outs of composite toe boots, is it the right choice for you? Of course,
that all depends on the work environment. If you work in a place where metal does more harm than
good, then yes, composite toe boots are for you. While they may be a bit more expensive than steel
toed, that will likely change in coming years as they become more popular. Your toes are an important
body part to take care of. One injury could keep you out of work for a long time. Hence, it s important
to take foot safety seriously and a great way to do that is by wearing the proper footwear.

Friedman vs Freeman
This paper will have a detailed discussion on the shareholder theory of Milton Friedman and the
stakeholder theory of Edward Freeman. Friedman argued that neo classical economic theory suggests
that the purpose of the organisations is to make profits in their accountability to themselves and their
shareholders and that only by doing so can business contribute to wealth for itself and society at large .
On the other hand, the theory of stakeholder suggests that the managers of an organisation do not only
have the duty towards the firm s shareholders; rather towards the individuals and constituencies who
contribute to the company s wealth, capacity and activities. These individuals or constituencies can be
the shareholders, employees, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, the model of stakeholder by Edward Freeman has broadly considered as the strongest
theory regarding responsibilities of a company towards society where the company is located
(Freeman 2008 pp. 162 165). Nevertheless, Friedman pointed out that the profits has taken the firms in
to the hand of business intellectuals by which Friedman recommend that the financial system by
which the organisation run its business is in the restricted responsibility protection which makes the
organisations to privatise their profits (Friedman 1970 pp. 177 184). Friedman also suggested that
according to him the shareholder theory in terms of socially responsible can only increase the profit.
But on the other hand shareholder theory of Edward Freeman completely support the theory of
shareholder towards its role to be socially responsible in the society and maximising the profits for the
benefits of shareholders within the firms and society as well (Freeman 2008 pp. 162 165). According
to Cosans (2009 pp. 391 399) with the taking of limited liability (restricted responsibility) Friedman
must have taken the business in a way to be socially affiliated and well established as well which also
leads and supports the ethical and logical roots of CSR and for the re establishment of the reliability to

USA. However, neither the USA nor Canada s systems are ranked in the top 25 for overall efficiency

in regards to major problems; financial aspects, timely access, and the doctor shortages. Evidence

This survey included over 3,700 physicians in eight different countries. The results showed Canada
continuously had the lowest overall adaption rate; early adaption of technologies is a key element to

could enhance the quality of health care services and improve the health and quality of life of
Canadians (Daniel Muzyka). There is plenty of evidence to validate that many Canadians are incorrect
in believing that they have the best healthcare system in the world . Spending on healthcare in Canada
continues to outpace the government spending program in growth and is limiting public investments
in other areas that would make for an overall more effective society (Daniel Muzyka). Canada is the
10th highest spender, spending an average of $2,600 per Canadian per year. Recent studies by Brett

total government revenue. He found that if recent trends persist, provincial government spending on

The Desegregation Of The United States
In the 1970 s desegregation was a main concern and differences in the quality of education based on
socioeconomic factors became apparent. Brown v. Board of Education deemed it harmful to African
Americans to be segregated. Integration of public schools did not happen until Swann v. Charlotte
Mecklenburg Board of Education. The ruling of Swann v. Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education
mandated school districts to bus students to different schools so integration would be possible
(Wilson). President Lyndon B. Johnson was also a key part in education reform during this time

Bobber Barons In The Gilded Age
The late 18th and early 19th centuries are often characterized by how they were dominated by
extremely wealthy people who established a name for themselves by exploiting the current state that
the nation was in after the Reconstruction. This period is marked not only by the increase in
Monopolies and Trusts as well as the brewing conflict between the wealthy and the poor specifically
the business owners and the farmers but by the industrial growth and blossoming of the American
economy. However, the individuals who were at the forefront during the Gilded Age such as Andrew
Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller should be referred to Robber Baron s as the name
captures their deceitful nature, greediness, and thirst for power.
The Robber Baron s displayed traits that made them not trustworthy. They tend to say what the people
want to hear rather than openly discussing their true motives. Andrew Carnegie believed that the
wealthy men of society have been given certain duties one of which is to live modestly and donate
surplus funds to the betterment of the community (Doc A). However, instead of using their attained
wealth to help the current state of their community, they invested it in themselves and some like
Cornelius Vanderbilt built extravagant Summer Homes (Doc C). If there is disagreement between
those in power and they are deceiving each other, what makes worthy of being trusted as Captains of
Industry.

The question is, which option is better, send your child to a public or private school?
Nowadays, Mexican s education is a controversial topic when parents need to select the best school
for their children. Exist two different types of education, public and private. In the first place, public
schools in Mexico are free of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hard to find someone who really believes that public schools can give as good results as private
schools. Is it true? Our public education can give as good results as private, and also fulfils a social
function without public funding, it would be impossible to achieve: to serve the entire student
population and allow gaps in educational inequality begin to be reversed.
Every year, high school results seem to confirm the supremacy of private education: high school
average of note who come from private schools is much better than those who come from public
schools. From high school students to make the average marc achieved by those who come from
public schools is 69.2, while those who come from private schools get an average of 79.9. (La Nacion
Opinion, 2013)
True is, the average private note is higher than the public, and rightly so. What is surprising is that a
huge number of students from both public schools get higher grades than those studying in private
schools.

The Real Slumdogs
The video The Real Slumdogs show us many different aspects of the culture residing in Dharavi.
There are several different types of statuses that people can achieve from a sociological stand point,
but the one I am referring to in the video is achieved statuses. An achieved status is a position that is
earned, accomplished, or involves at least some effort or activity on the individual s part. Take the
story of Babu, the hard working trash picker for instance. This trash picker has worked most of his life
as a trash picker, and through this dedication he has finally become his own boss. Although he is still
picking trash, he oversees other workers and helps them learn the trade. If he had not worked tirelessly
and put in this effort to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I find myself looking at this trying to, as the sociological term goes, take the role of the other . Taking
the role of the other is defined as putting yourself in someone elses shoes; understanding how
someone else feels and thinks, so you anticipate how that person will act. If I were to look at Lakshmi
for instance, I see that she works in terrible conditions with her family, and that she cares very much
for her daughter, Sheetal. I see that she doesn t like the conditions in which her family, or any family
in Dharavi for that matter, lives. This has made her provide an education for her daughter, even though
it is costly to her own salary. Since she knows how tough it can be to make a living in Dharavi, she
has helped with a program called Project Acorn. This helps provide services to other slum dwellers
and their children to get an education. She is a very caring person, and wants to see the people of
Dharavi get into better living conditions so they aren t suffering or not getting anywhere. Shailesh
cares for his family, and wants them to have the best life they can. While he wants this, he also wants
to pursue his own dreams as a Bollywood actor. He wants to become a star and this makes him use a
good bit of his monthly earnings to take acting classes. He is a very driven individual, and his efforts
have finally gotten him a foothold in the film industry, as a background dancer in a music

Essay on Experiment on Photocromism and Piezochromism
Experiment B10 Photocromism and Piezochromism
Reece Harms 4320288
Introduction
This experiment investigates an oxidative coupling reaction in an to synthesise triphenylimidazole
dimer from 2,4,5 triphenyl 1H imidazole. The resulting compound was investigated for both
photochromic and piezochromic properties by way of formation of a stable radical, utilizing visual
observations and UV Vis as a means of distinction. Both the oxidative coupling reaction and the
dimers interaction with light are depicted in the reactions in figure 1.
Figure 1: Oxidative Coupling reaction of 2,4,5 triphenyl 1H imidazol

This could be improved by utilizing an inert atmosphere of solely nitrogen. Melting the compound
resulted in an intensely dark purple liquid. This is a result of the resonance stabilized radical being
formed by the homolysis of the carbon to carbon bond validating the photochromic properties. The
colour change further substantiates that the desired product was produced despite the inaccuracies in
melting point values. Homolytic cleavage of the dimer prepared by solvation with toluene results in a
deep purple solution confirming the formation of the resonance stabilized radical.
After placing in darkness the colorless solution resulted by reformation of the radical intermediates to
a new thermodynamic product via C N bond at room temperature. UV Vis was conducted on the
solution before and after the irradiation with sunlight: UVtoluene 554.92nm, A=0.12 before irradiation
and A=1.05 after. The peak at 554.92nm corresponds to yellow/green light and its complementary
colour is red/violet. This validates the solutions violet color. The increased absorbance was accounted
for an increase in the radical component. The radical was formed when exposed to light, which was
visually apparent with the purple coloration and proved the thermodynamic dimer was also
photochromic. When dimer 4 is exposed to light photons collide with the molecule and impart energy
upon them. This energy is significant enough to break the bond between the two rings and results

A school s climate either positively or negatively affects teaching and learning within the school.
School administrators have the responsibility to ensure the school climate supports learning. This
responsibility can be met only when school leaders have an accurate understanding of climate in the
schools they serve. This causal comparative study examines administrators and teachers perceptions of
school climate among the academic, social, affective and physical domains of school climate, using
the revised School Level Environment Questionnaire (R SLEQ). Data are examined using multivariate
analysis of variance (MANOVA) to determine whether statistically significant differences in climate
perceptions exist between administrators and

quot;A Doll s House quot; Essay
The suppressed position of women was blatantly highlighted in Henrik Isbens play titled A Doll s
House The dehumanization weathered by Nora, the dependence she felt, along with lack of adequate
experience and education all played a part in Isbens story as if it were exact representations of society
just beyond the doll house walls. As the reality of Nora s predicament was raised to the surface her
inability to manage herself is seemingly what leads her down the path to her own independence. It is
through the disillusionment that Nora undeniably felt towards her husband Torvald and the world that
she finally comprehends her unmitigated state of repression.

This further reduces her as an individual. Torvald employs a nursemaid to care for their children and
this custom appears to be commonplace among the elite in that time.
Nora was completely dependent on Torvald and he adored that fact. He noted that her dependence on
him made her more alluring; she becomes both wife and child to him. He does not see her as his equal
as women were typically not viewed as equal partners. He sees her only as his possession, a young,
vibrant Nora, magnificent for only him, for him to show off at his will, and to signify his manhood. It
is possible that he was much her elder and it was admired among men to seek out a young woman for
marriage, they were more malleable and up to the task of bearing their children.
The sense that woman were helpless creatures seemed to echo in the society around them. It appears
that most women were not considered for work or allowed to educate themselves. Torvald viewed
Nora as a frail creature, child like and completely helpless yet influential and responsible for the
morality of the family. Nora s character seemed to represent the way women were more or less held
captive in their homes just as they were in society. This dependent role for woman was emphasized
when Mrs. Linde spoke of her life being empty; that she had no one to care for and there was no
pleasure in working for oneself. Wife and mother were the most important roles that women played

Populist Party Dbq Essay
The populist party was united from farmers tied with the Grange movement, and the laborers around
the country. The spurring of the populists was the lack of representation of the working class in the US
Government. The numbers of people in support of the populists had to compete with the business men
and representatives in congress, wealthy big business men who controlled the government held the
populists down from getting some control in the government. The populist party was almost a
continuation of the Grange movement, hardworking farmers angry over the fact that they supported
the country with their work, while feeling the negative effects of the wealthy lawmakers in power,
feeding the same men who ignore the needs of farmers and laborers in America (Doc A). The populists
were aiming towards support of farmers as mutual workers and human beings (Doc B). There was not
only a look to the future, but the anger over the amount of power the East Coast states, full of
politicians and businessmen, due to the partial representatives in the House and the Senate (Docs F

wanted to keep the money supply fixed in gold, held in the hand of the government (Doc D).

Pope Juliusi Patronage Research Paper
Patronage is often known as the support that is given to an artist by the patron. A patron is someone
who provides support to artists. They become loyal customers to the artist and help them be put out on

One critical patron to art in Renaissance Italy was Pope Julius II. In this period the church was often,

Literary Romanticism In Wordsworth s Lyrical Ballads
Literary ballads is considered the seminal inspirational work of literary romanticism in Britain. The
publication of Lyrical Ballads represented a turning point for English poetry. Though the book was not
originally received as a radical experiment, it was rather controversial for its time. Being released
straight during the French revolution which was seen as a social experiment in itself. Coleridge
encouraged Wordsworth to write a preface to Lyrical Ballads which would explain the work contained
within the collection.
The phrase experimental originated from Wordsworth himself and the preface gave him the
opportunity to explain and defend the rather radical work to the readers. Wordsworth expressed
concern on how lyrical ballads would be received by his readership. That it would not only not meet
their expectations but would make them question his ability as a poet also. He knew that the poems he
was writing were so intentionally experimental that his reader s reactions would be mixed I flattered
myself that they who should be pleased with them would read them with more than common pleasure:
and on the other hand, I was well aware that by those who should dislike them they would be read
with more than common dislike.

The research shows that the average employee spends at least some time each week working from
home. While employees spend an average of 32 hours each week working from their office, they also
spend an average of 5 hours working from home each week. Distractions are just as much of a
problem for office workers as they are for at home employees. While more than three quarters of
office based employees said they feel they work best in an office at their desk, 48 percent indicated
that they are frequently interrupted by colleagues. The study also showed that the office doesn t seem
to aid in increasing interpersonal communications either, with 51 percent of employees still frequently
instant messaging or emailing colleagues who are located physically near them, rather than talking
with them directly. Besides those who work from home during the day, the majority of employees are
also spending some time after hours working from home. Nearly 65 percent of employees globally
conduct at least some business at home after business hours. Genevieve Bell, U.S. director of user

The Trojan Women
Euripides: Past Time Activist for Women In The Trojan Women, there are four enduring women who
dominate the play and only two men who say anything at all. Moving us with their rants and dramatic
reactions, these women engulf the audience in overwhelming grief and irresistible pride. Euripides
emphasizes these four women to help us understand one of his main themes. Hecuba with her pride,
Cassandra with her virginity and uncanny wisdom, Andromache with her misery and heartache, and
Helen with her powerful, seductive reasoning all represent superior illustrations of feminism
throughout the play.
The first woman introduced is Hecuba, who grieves for her family, people, and ravaged homeland.

While frantically celebrating her appalling marriage to King Agamemnon, giving praise to Hymen, the
god of marriage, she says, O Mother, crown my triumph with a wreath (I, i, 361). Here she does not

sacrifice her virginity. Until she begins to tell her mother how she will try to take revenge for her
family does she show pain by saying, I shall kill [Agamemnon] mother, lay his house as low as he laid
ours, make him pay for all he made my father suffer, brothers . . . (I, i, 367 369). Raving, she
prophecies, If Apollo lives, my marriage will be bloodier than Helen s, and in time we see that she is
right with the fall of Greece (I, i, 364 365). She also makes an interesting point on the defeat of Troy.
She explains that the Greeks are just there to fight and conquer, and that their families are not there to
soften their hearts. The Trojans fight as a family for their people. The Trojans have lost, but they died
with great honor trying to save and protect their country and kinsmen. Cassandra refers to those
soldiers, her family, who fought with a final divination, Brothers, in Troy s earth laid, my father, a
little time and I am with you. You dead, I shall come to you a victor. Those ruined by my hand who
ruined us (I, i, 469 472). Even though she is portrayed as mad, the evidence of her wisdom, whether it
be given to her by the god she has devoted her life, or just insane predictions, shows us that women
could be intelligent and know of things to come just as men. Giving us our second example of
feminism, Cassandra shows her intellect equivalent to

Describe The Similarities And Differences Between The...
According to Niall Ferguson, westerners make up about 19% of the world s population, but have 66%
of the world s wealth. The reason why westerners, or Europeans, are so wealthy today is because of
European cities. Western European cities during the time period of 1000 1500 CE had distinct cultural
developments which allowed Europe to later conquer world trade. Other global civilizations, such as
Mongol China and medieval Cairo, were similar and different from medieval Europe culturally. These
civilizations were similar in the fact that both Europe and China had urban growth in cities; both
Europeans and the Muslims of Cairo were able to live in a society with no rigid rules. These
civilizations differed from Europe as well: European towns were autonomous, while the citizens of

In addition to the differences they share culturally, there are differences between Europe and both
China and Cairo economically. For example, in European towns, capitalism was practiced. Because
there was no formal government dominating in Europe, capitalism allowed merchants to do as they
wished without the government s permission. This contrasts with China and Cairo, as in these
civilizations, socialism was exercised. Because of socialism, the merchants of China and Cairo had to
have the government s approval before they were able to make any decisions. This is just one of the
many differences between these global civilizations. Because Europe was different than the other
global civilizations, such as Cairo and China, it was able to advance and later, dominate world trade.
Europe today is one of the most wealthiest places in the world (they have 66% of the world s wealth,
according to Ferguson). They were able to achieve such power and wealth because of the way

Personality Of Victor Frankenstein

In the beginning of the book, the reader gets introduced to the explorer Robert Walton who undertakes
an expedition to the North Pole. But one day a dramatic turn of events occur as a stranger is helped up
onto the ship. Henceforth, Robert s life would never be the same. The stranger reveals a horrible but

declares that he is hunting a creature made by his own hands. A creature so vile and abhorred no man
would dare to look into its fierce eyes. The man is the eccentric Victor Frankenstein, the creator of a
beast whose only purpose in its miserable life is to kill. Frankenstein exposes himself to Robert but he
only gets a glimpse of the scientist s complex personality.
Firstly, Victor Frankenstein is a very determined and resolute man. Once he is struck by an idea he
will not give up until he has tried every method in order to substantialize his theory. His perseverance

  • 2. Honor Killing Is The Murder Of A Member There are always sets of law in every country, when people do wrong things or break the rule, they will be punished according to the regulation. Therefore, each country has different rules and punishments, which depend on its culture. Back to Roman time, there was a rule known as Honor killing and that was the first time honor killing was started. It began with males who retained the right to kill an unmarried female when she had done something related to sexual activities. Honor killing is the murder of a member within the family by the other members. The males often kill the female member as they belief that the female has brought dishonor to the family and the community for many reasons such as engaging sexual activities without marriage. The killing shows the way to save the honor and reputation of the family. In Pakistan, honor killing is known as KARO KARI. Karo means black male and Kari means black female . Once a woman in the family is known as Kari, family members will consider themselves to be authorized to live are preserved to be chastity, women must be able to follow social restrictive cultural practices which related to women s status and family honor, such as the practice of purdah and the segregation of genders. Most of the murders relates to inheritance problem, feud setting, or get rid of the wife, for instance in order to re marry. • 3. Editha, by William Dean Howells Essay William Dean Howells was an advocate of realism in writing; he believed that literary art should reflect the reality of the common man and demonstrate the truth of everyday current issues. He believed in truthful writing and he accepted very little at face value. He practiced this belief in his own writing, and his story called Editha is a good example of this. In this ironic tragedy, W.D. Howells shows the truth and nature of war. He uses a combination of metaphoric characters, irony, and the pathos appeal to create an almost grotesque parody of the reality of war. In final analysis, Howells is successful in highlighting the consequences of war and inspiring the audience to question the wisdom of those who advocate armed conflict. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, the author uses George as a metaphor for those who would fight, kill, and die in the war; this element is an important part of the author s persuasive strategy. W.D. Howells wants to appeal to the values and the emotional sensibility of his audience, for this reason, Howells portrays George as passive and unsure of himself. George is fearful of the war and he sees no glory in it. He believes that God is peaceful and the idea that God would advocate for war runs counter to George s belief in peace. In short, the author uses George s story to illustrate the consequences of war for the reader. This strategy works to persuade a resistant audience to relate to George, hence, lowering their resistance to the anti war message of this piece. W.D. Howells uses irony to illuminate the difference of perspective and conflict of interest between Editha and George. Editha is so busy trying to fix what she believes is wrong with George; she does not recognize the flaws in her own thinking. She secretly sees George as less than he is because of his peaceful nature, and she does not imagine that George is aware of her low regard of him. Editha uses three reasons to support her advocacy for the war, first, that to fight in the war will be glorious. Second, that the war is ordained by God, and third, that to fight for the country is to show devotion or loyalty. Similarly, war advocates have used these same reasons to rally the citizens to battle in past wartimes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Taking a Look at Breast Cancer Nearly one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in her or his life (Breast Cancer Health Center, 2014). I am sure that almost everyone has been affected by breast cancer in one way or another, whether they had it or know someone who has had it. My mom s aunt had breast cancer, as did my dad s mother. My great aunt luckily caught it early on and had it taken care of. Unfortunately, my grandmother caught it too late; it had spread all over her body and eventually ended up being the cause of her death. It is important to know the risk factors of developing breast cancer and what you can do to help prevent it, as well as knowing treatment options if you or someone you know is diagnosed with it. Breast cancer develops in the breast tissue. It develops primarily in the milk ducts or glands, and can travel to other parts of the body. Even if it has traveled elsewhere, it is still called breast cancer. If it has spread, it will usually be referred to as metastatic or advanced breast cancer (Breast Cancer Health Center, 2014). Although breast cancer can occur in both males and females, it is a lot more common in females. In fact, men account for just one percent of all breast cancer cases. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. In addition, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths only being preceded by lung cancer. Early detection of breast cancer can be lifesaving. If breast cancer is detected early on, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Resource Leveling Issue Analysis Paper When a project manager identifies that resources must be leveled within certain areas of the project he or she should utilize resource leveling approaches. Resource leveling examines the unequal utilization of resources and makes them equally available through the project. One of the risks associated with resource leveling is the decrease in productivity as a result of resources shifting from one task or area to another. In the case of the resources in question being people, teams from where these employees will be coming from to support the other task might feel additional workloads which in turn could lead to unhappiness in team members, and can result in decreased productivity (Damci, Arditi Polat, 2013, p 679). Resource leveling becomes a double edge sword for the project manager. It could create the same issue that is trying to solve if not carefully analyzed by the project manager before commencing to ... My advice to the head of the PMO is to approve the leveling of resources. I am very familiar with other projects within the organization and have identify several of them that are employing more of the necessary employees and have more time to complete the project. My solution is to take on qualified staff member for the other four projects managed by the PMO and create an additional team that will allow our project to move forward and finish as intended. By doing this other projects will not encounter the same issues that our project has face since only one person will be taken from their already strong workforce. Also, this will be done with zero additional cost to the organization since no new employees will be hired, just reallocated from one project to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Physics Of Roller Coasters Ever since the first commercial roller coaster was built in the United States in 1884, roller coasters have been seen in amusement parks all around the world. These rides, seen in all shapes and sizes, are widely recognized for their thrills. At sudden twists and turns, riders experience large levels of excitement. But what makes a roller coaster so exciting? The answer is physics. In the process of designing roller coasters, engineers use concepts such as Newton s three laws of motion to make loops, corkscrews, hills, and jumps possible. How these concepts are put to work can be seen in examples of roller coasters throughout history. The first forms of the roller coaster were seen in St. Petersburg, Russia as early as the 1600s. Piles of ice were built about 70 feet high, and thrillseekers would slide down wooden, icy ramps built on these Russian mountains . Catherine the Great, whose reign of Russia lasted from 1762 to 1796, boosted this custom when she had wheels placed on her sleigh for summer use. Eventually, a French traveler introduced this Russian tradition to France. The French learned to build a track with a groove down the middle for use in a warmer climate than Russia. French thrillseekers would then fit a bench with wheels on the groove and proceed to coast down the track sideways. The major reason roller coasters are known for their thrills is because of physics. Physics is the science of matter and energy and their interactions. In the early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He states that he has pain in his left knee, soreness to his calf with swelling and redness to his left ankle but no temperature changes to his left leg or foot. He states that his calf pain increases with dorsiflexion of his left foot; therefore he has a positive Homan s sign. He describes the pain in his knee as pressure and rates the pain as 4/10. These symptoms lead to the concerns of deep venous thrombosis (DVT). Differential diagnosis: 1. DVT 2. Cellulitis 3. Superficial thrombophlebitis 4. Muscle strain or tear 5. Osteoarthritis The considerations in the differential include the listed symptoms. The possibility of a DVT is the most urgent and requires immediate evaluation due to the potential consequences to the patient. The patient has a positive Homan s sign, reduced pulses, the swelling of the left lower leg. This diagnosis is likely. The diagnosis of cellulitis is also a possibility due to the redness along with the swelling of the lower left extremity. A DVT is a venous blood clot that occurs as a result of the interaction of several factors. These include venous stasis, activation of blood coagulation and damage to the endothelial lining of the vein (Patel, 2015). The result is increased viscosity of circulating blood and the formation of thrombus. The blood test that is used to determine the presence of DVT is D dimer. The level of D dimer remains elevated for 7 days after the formation of a DVT. Blood tests of prothrombin time and partial prothrombin time are also obtained to determine coagulopathy. When the wolf of one pack enters the territory of another wolf pack the behaviors can be very aggressive. Wolves live in family units called packs, they are very social animals and usually do not do well individually. The pack is usually made up of the alpha or the leader of the pack. The alpha is usually both a male and female in the group that are a breeding pair. The pack is usually comprised of the offspring of the alphas pair from the several years of pups. The leaders of the pack are the bosses and determine when the pack will hunt, sleep, travel, or even play. The alphas almost always east first. (Wolf Ecology and Behavior, ... This is their favorite meals, but they have been known to hunt and eat beaver, rabbits, and small mammals. Wolves that do not live in Minnesota like to eat caribou, elk, mountain goats, big horn sheep, and even buffalo. The fact that wolves eat these animals and helps to control the population of these prey animals. This helps the prey populations to not get disease and spread them. Wolves hunt in the pack, this means they all work together to take down an animal or two. They often segregate the chosen prey and will circle around it. The alphas almost always eat first, then usually the pups and other members of the pack. Wolves need to eat around 3 7 pounds of meat a day, this equals about 15 20 adult deer a year. The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water and breeds reptiles of the mind William Blake, I don t really like reptiles because of their scaly skin but others think differently. They are both amazing animals and have great abilities to do things. Mammals do not give birth to their youngs in an egg form on a surface area. Mammals also do not have scaly and dry skin like reptiles. Mammals such as dogs are also different than reptiles such as bearded dragons because they are warm blooded so they can stay in the cold and they also have hair and fur so they can lose that anytime when they get hot. Many mammals just shiver in the cold such as dogs. Reptiles do not give birth to their youngs right away. Also, reptiles are cold blooded and do not need fur to survive cold places. It was a time of segregation, not only forced by the government, but enforced by the KKK as well. The Compromise of 1877, Jim Crow law, and Plessy v Fergusson were the events that shaped us into the nation we are today. 1865 1877 was when everything within the nation was thriving. Most freed slaves were learning to read and write, and were indulging in everything our country had to offer them. Agriculture was at an all time high, and there didn t seem to be an end in sight. • 11. Female Characters In A Lesson Before Dying The fictional town of Bayonne in A Lesson Before Dying is based on a plantation where the author Ernest J. Gaines was born. This novel took place in the late 1940s a time when radical discrimination was a major problem, and the Jim Crow laws validated segregation and discrimination. Although the major personalities are males, there are three female characters that influence the males to solve the difficulties in their life they would usually ignore. Each female character persuades and motivates Jefferson and Grant from running away from their responsibilities. Tante Lou and Miss Emma convince Grant to make Jefferson die like a man and not a hog, and Vivian makes Grant stay in the quarter and not run away from his purpose in his life. One of the first female characters introduced is Miss Emma, Jefferson s godmother. The first description of Miss Emma is in the courtroom where she is described as a heavy set woman weighing approximately two hundred pounds. We know she is a caring woman because while in the courtroom she never got up to use the bathroom or get a glass of water. Even though she may not be strong enough to sway the juries mind or protect Jefferson of the unfair sentencing of death by electrocution. She is strong enough to stay in the courtroom and give the support that Jefferson needs. Everyone by now knew what the outcome would be for Jefferson. I learned a lot about how these kinds of cases usually pan out for those that are mentally disabled. I had not ever thought of a story like this, but now that I was opened to these kinds of issues in the lives of people with mental disabilities, I am glad that I watched this movie and gain some insight. Sam faced several psychological issues in this story. Out of all the psychological issues this movie portrays Sam to have, his mental retardation is the one that is the main focus of the story. This movie goes to show that his intelligence is that of a seven year old. This escalades the story because as his daughter begins school, her intelligence grows larger than her fathers, which is the center of the problem throughout this story. In the beginning, the movies goes to show that Sam has a case of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Throughout the movie, they continue to show his case by first organizing the artificial sugars at Starbucks to finally, near the end, organizing alcohol pads from Pizza Hut. Along with OCD, we find out from the help of the lawyer fighting against him in court, that Sam also has autistic tendencies. Also, in several parts throughout the movie, Sam shows behavior such as going to a certain restaurant the same time every week, and having to eat a certain thing at a certain place, or else he becomes very upset. Today, we re here to talk about what a composite toe boot is and how it is best used around the work site. What is a Composite Toe Boot? A composite toe boot (or comp toe if you want to be hip) is quickly becoming the industry standard compared to steel toe. It may seem like a minor thing but walking through a metal detector without setting it off every time is an added benefit. That is exactly what happens with a composite toe boot. You can work in an environment without fear of upsetting any nearby metal detectors. Again, if you don t work in an area where this is an issue, then perhaps it s not a big deal. However, to others, it s these small features that make composite toe boots a better choice. IS a composite boot toe right for you? Now that you know the ins and outs of composite toe boots, is it the right choice for you? Of course, that all depends on the work environment. If you work in a place where metal does more harm than good, then yes, composite toe boots are for you. While they may be a bit more expensive than steel toed, that will likely change in coming years as they become more popular. Your toes are an important body part to take care of. Finally, recognizing multiple motives for norm conformity offers opportunities for research precluded by theories that either do not differentiate among motives for norm conformity or that do not distinguish the norm from the motives for conforming to it. First, a multiple motive conceptualization allows researchers to explore conflict between motives for conforming to social norms. It is possible that in many contexts people s motives for norm conformity may not be in agreement. Friedman argued that neo classical economic theory suggests that the purpose of the organisations is to make profits in their accountability to themselves and their shareholders and that only by doing so can business contribute to wealth for itself and society at large . On the other hand, the theory of stakeholder suggests that the managers of an organisation do not only have the duty towards the firm s shareholders; rather towards the individuals and constituencies who contribute to the company s wealth, capacity and activities. Consequently, the model of stakeholder by Edward Freeman has broadly considered as the strongest theory regarding responsibilities of a company towards society where the company is located (Freeman 2008 pp. 162 165). Nevertheless, Friedman pointed out that the profits has taken the firms in to the hand of business intellectuals by which Friedman recommend that the financial system by which the organisation run its business is in the restricted responsibility protection which makes the organisations to privatise their profits (Friedman 1970 pp. 177 184). Most critics keep health care related debates to the small scope of Canada and the USA. In order for Canada s healthcare system to improve, there must be changes made in regards to major problems; financial aspects, timely access, and the doctor shortages. There is plenty of evidence to validate that many Canadians are incorrect in believing that they have the best healthcare system in the world . Spending on healthcare in Canada continues to outpace the government spending program in growth and is limiting public investments in other areas that would make for an overall more effective society (Daniel Muzyka). Canada is the 10th highest spender, spending an average of $2,600 per Canadian per year. Recent studies by Brett Skinner have looked at trends in the annual growth rates for provincial healthcare expenditures and total government revenue. The ruling of Swann v. Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education mandated school districts to bus students to different schools so integration would be possible (Wilson). President Lyndon B. Bobber Barons In The Gilded Age The late 18th and early 19th centuries are often characterized by how they were dominated by extremely wealthy people who established a name for themselves by exploiting the current state that the nation was in after the Reconstruction. This period is marked not only by the increase in Monopolies and Trusts as well as the brewing conflict between the wealthy and the poor specifically the business owners and the farmers but by the industrial growth and blossoming of the American economy. However, the individuals who were at the forefront during the Gilded Age such as Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller should be referred to Robber Baron s as the name captures their deceitful nature, greediness, and thirst for power. The Robber Baron s displayed traits that made them not trustworthy. They tend to say what the people want to hear rather than openly discussing their true motives. Andrew Carnegie believed that the wealthy men of society have been given certain duties one of which is to live modestly and donate surplus funds to the betterment of the community (Doc A). However, instead of using their attained wealth to help the current state of their community, they invested it in themselves and some like Cornelius Vanderbilt built extravagant Summer Homes (Doc C). This is a result of the resonance stabilized radical being formed by the homolysis of the carbon to carbon bond validating the photochromic properties. The colour change further substantiates that the desired product was produced despite the inaccuracies in melting point values. Homolytic cleavage of the dimer prepared by solvation with toluene results in a deep purple solution confirming the formation of the resonance stabilized radical. After placing in darkness the colorless solution resulted by reformation of the radical intermediates to a new thermodynamic product via C N bond at room temperature. UV Vis was conducted on the solution before and after the irradiation with sunlight: UVtoluene 554.92nm, A=0.12 before irradiation and A=1.05 after. The peak at 554.92nm corresponds to yellow/green light and its complementary colour is red/violet. This validates the solutions violet color. The increased absorbance was accounted for an increase in the radical component. The radical was formed when exposed to light, which was visually apparent with the purple coloration and proved the thermodynamic dimer was also photochromic. When dimer 4 is exposed to light photons collide with the molecule and impart energy upon them. This energy is significant enough to break the bond between the two rings and results ...
