  • 5. Cont.  Instructional and supportive applications of computers.  Computers began to be used in classrooms in 1960s until 1990 and was known as Educational Computing.  By the mid-1990s, educational computing became known as Educational or Instructional Technology.
  • 6. Cont.  “The historical function of Instructional Technology is a process rather than a product.” Saettler (1990)  Any useful definition of educational technology, must focus on the process of applying tools for educational purposes, and the materials used.
  • 7. Things To Ponder  Why integrate ICT into teaching and learning?  When and how do we integrate ICT?  How much of ICT do we use?  Will ICT make learning more efficient and more effective?
  • 8. Important Reminders  Use ICT only when appropriate and when it will make a difference to learning  Use the right tools and resources to help achieve the learning outcomes  Consider the tools students already have such as their mobile phones  Put ourselves in learners’ shoes
