Similarities Between King Lear And Catcher In The Rye
The truth of one s character can be expressed through his or her own thoughts, actions, and words.
Respectively, one s downfall is embodied by his or her own character. In William Shakespeare s King
Lear, Lear s character is depicted as one who descends into madness as a result of his irrational actions
early in the play. Similarly, Holden Caulfield, from J.D Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, enters the
coming of age process; however, his behaviour illustrates his ongoing cynicism and depression. The
reasons behind Lear and Holden s downfall exist in the physical, social and psychological flaws they
inherit as tragic heroes. Both individuals suffer immensely from their unreasonable actions from ill
considered decision making, their inability to maintain genuine relationships with others, and the
psychological conflict within them.
Although both protagonists come from contrasting statuses and time periods, Lear and Holden are
alike in the way that they make arbitrary decisions, thus, breeding foolish actions. As a king, Lear
carries himself with great pride and dignity; however, it is this power that clouds his vision in making
well thought out decisions. In the beginning of the play, Lear decides to divide his kingdom into three
a section for each daughter. The scene ends unsuccessfully with Cordelia and Kent being banished
Lear. When Lear asks his daughters who love him the most, he sees Cordelia s response as rejection
compared to the responses of Goneril and Regan.

Asian Americans Academic Success
School Attendance and Family Expectations Among Asian Americans Race, gender and education are
status determinants in today s society. Asian Americans academic success comes from a combination
of helpful parents, a motivation to succeed, a supportive academic space, a supportive community and
economic resources. In this paper, I will argue that Asian Americans attend college due to their
cultural roots and familial expectations. Along the way to success are some hardships like stereotypes,
gender differences and economic difficulties, but there is also prosperity in means of cultural and
familial involvement. Compared to other racial or ethnic backgrounds, hard work and education are
frequently viewed as being factors that all Asian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers were given a list of these students. Not knowing the students were chosen at random, the
researchers called this the Pygmalion Effect, or a self fulfilling expectation. In the first and second
grade the student s grades improved dramatically and 47 percent of those students gained 20 points on
an IQ test they took. Since the teachers had higher expectations for these students, this made the
students feel more capable of doing things (Kristof, 2015). Stereotypes have a lot to do with the
effects of an individual s success or a group s success. The article uses a stereotype that Asian
Americans are supposed to be good at math, and even though some can live up to that expectation,
troubles are created for those who cannot live up to that expectation. This stereotype makes Asian
Americans less focused on being personally creative and seems more focused on memorization,
sticking to the book and following equations. According to a TED Talk starring Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie, the danger of a single story is explained. The danger of a single story is a critical
misunderstanding of a certain culture, or a person. Adichie reminds the listeners that we must tell our
own stories that are about our own personal experiences because stereotypes are incomplete. She
explains how single stories rob people of dignity and they emphasize how people are different rather
than similar. When we reject the single story,

Dangers Of Cell Phone Use While Driving
Cell phones play a very large role in most people s lives, but the continuous use of them has sparked
the controversy of whether or not these devices plague drivers. Improvements in technology and
human dependency on having a cell phone has led to the increase of cell phone use while driving and
crashes related to this behavior. Studies and simulations have been conducted to put the controversy at
ease accompanied by state governments passing bans on hand held devices. The magnitude of the
issue of cell phone use while driving is proven by the articles Cellular Phone Use While Driving:
Risks and Benefits: Section 3. Risks of Using a Cellular Phone While Driving by Karen S. Lissy,
M.P.H., Joshua T. Cohen, Ph.D., Mary Y. Park, M.S., and John D. Graham, Ph.D. and The Use of Cell
Phones While Driving . Federal and state governments should enact bans on cell phone use while
driving because missing a message or call is better than a loved one receiving the message of the
driver s death. Studies and statistics provide insight on how cell phone use while driving can cause or
contribute to crashes. In Cellular Phone Use While Driving: Risks and Benefits: Section 3. Risks of
Using a Cellular Phone While Driving , Karen S. Lissy, M.P.H., Joshua T. Cohen, Ph.D., Mary Y.

in crashes and cell phone use, and epidemiological studies to show the risks and outcomes of driving

#3. Intro to Computer Science Course
Stage 1. Introduction to Computer Science
In this stage, I have watched an introductory video about computer science and what a computer
scientist does in general. According to this video, computer science is a certain way to impact the
world. This course will provide more information about computer science and why it is important to
know.
Stage 2. The Maze
Here, I learned the basics about coding through different games. In the first one, I helped an angry bird
move through a maze in order to get to the evil pig. In order to write a program, I needed to drag and
drop blocks correctly. Also, by using the repeat block in the game I learned how loops are valuable
and how computer repeat commands can be useful so people do not waste their time. Next, I had to
use repeat until block to set determined goals such as until the angry bird gets the pig. Another game
was about a zombie that I needed to feed, where I also used repeat until command to achieve the goal.
Besides, I learnt about fundamental concept in programming if statement. By using if commands the
computer program makes a decision. Then, I learn about if/else block command, which made a
decision what zombie should do choosing between the two actions. There were some struggles that I
have faced. Sometimes I didn t quite

How Did Queen Elizabeth 1 Make England A Better Place
Queen Elizabeth 1: Made England a better place As Queen Elizabeth arrived at the Tower of London
she said Her lands as true as a subject, being prisoner, as ever landing at these stairs. Before Thee, O
God, I speak it, having none other friends but Thee alone (Elizabeth i quotes.) This quote shows that
Queen Elizabeth was very lonely and innocent at the Tower of London as a prisoner. Queen Elizabeth
1 made England a better place while in rule. Before becoming Queen, Elizabeth was a princess. On
September 7, 1533 Queen Elizabeth was born to a King and Queen in England (Biography queen

and play a piano like musical instrument called the virginal. (Biography queen elizabeth 1) Later in
her life when she was still a princess she got locked in the Tower of London by her half sister Mary
Tudor. Mary Tudor got jealous of her and that is why she locked up her half sister. But they never

Procrastination Of His Father s Death In Hamlet, By...
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, is a very complex play with many catechisms scholars study to this
day. One such question relates to Hamlet s procrastination for vengeance of his father s death.
Confronted by the ghost of his father, Hamlet is instructed to revenge his foul and most unnatural
murder (Shakespeare I.v.31), yet he goes on to tarry the act for almost the entirety of the play. This
brings about many ideas as to why he took such delay and the effect it had on the characters involved
and the play itself as a whole. Hamlet had promised the ghost that [he], with wings as swift/ as
meditation or the thoughts of love/ may sweep to [his] revenge (Shakespeare I.v.35 7). This, to an
unfamiliar reader, would seem very straightforward, yet Hamlet speaks with no cause. He
procrastinates so much that, later in the play, the ghost reappears to remind him to not forget. This
visitation / Is but to whet thy almost blunted purpose (Shakespeare III.iv.136 7). His father literally
comes back as a ghost to remind Hamlet that he is supposed to be seeking revenge. Hamlet seems so
uninterested in the idea of actually going through with avenging his father s death; rather, he dwells on
it and falls into depression, not acting on his anger or instruction whatsoever.
Hamlet himself does not recognize a reason for his dally. He is extremely upset by his inability to
enact vengeance. It deeply upsets him that an actor in a dream of passion... should weep (Shakespeare
II.ii.579 87)

Metaphors And Symbolism In Death Of A Salesman
ABSTRACT
Miller has been one of the most outspoken American writers of the last four decades. He has held
generally progressive and radical views and has variously written against racism, capitalism and
Vietnam war. All these ideas are amply reflected in his plays. Death of a Salesman was Miller s play
and an instant success. It was hailed as a modern classic and has put Miller among the foremost
playwrights of this century. Death of a Salesman Miller is still concerned with the exploitations of the
individual and the evils of a commercial society. The protagonist Willy Loman ,was a traveling
salesman, and his family were the main characters in this play. The usage of Language, verbalism,
Symbolism were extraordinary and unique from other styles of Drama.

He has ambition and expectations beyond his reach. This aspect is revealed by a contradiction in his
name low man and his dream of high man . In his own vision and dreams, his sons to him are only
boys , kids , little children with nollypops needing his advice and care. He fails to regard them as
grown up adults. Death of a Salesman, on a close examination, will be found a play with logical and
linguistic contradictions. But such contradictions are deliberate and are used to sharpen the effect.
Willy Loman suggests his moral immaturity through logical as well as linguistic contradictions,
especially when offering advice to Biff. He warns his sons: gee is a boy s word , and he uses this term
frequently. He complains: not finding yourself at the age of thirth four is a disgrace! , and greatest
thing in the world for him was to bum around, and that Biff is a lazy bum. And after some he
grumbles: And such a hard worker. There s one thing about Biff he s not

Survival of the Marine Corps Essay
SURVIVAL OF THE MARINE CORPS
The Marine Corps historical characteristics after the Civil War could be based in part on survivability
and the need for the Marine Corps to prove its worth to the United States as a Military Force. The
Marine Corps part in the Civil War had been small and not altogether impressive. Both the Army and
the Navy did not regard the Marine Corps as useful. This paper will in effect touch on the Marine
Corps history from after the Civil War to World War I. It will then converge on a discussion with
regards to the fight against the disestablishment of the Marine Corps. (Simmons/Moskin 1998)

Doyen. They were joined by the 6th regiment and in March of 1918 were subsequently fed into the
fighting front near Verdun, now a quiet bit of the front. (Simmons/Moskin 1998)
This set the scene for one of the most famous Marine battles of WWI. The German Offensive was too
much for the tired French Divisions and only thing between the Germans and the road to Paris was the
Fourth Marine Brigade (made up of the fifth and sixth regiments) and the 2nd Infantry Division. It
was also the sight for one of the most famous quotes in Marine Corps History. (Simmons/Moskin
1998)
The 2d Battalion, 5th Marines had just arrived at its position when an automobile skidded to a stop
and a French officer dashed out and approached the commanding officer. He explained that a general
retreat was in progress and that orders were for the Marines to withdraw. The Marine officer, Captain
Lloyd Williams exclaimed in amazement, quot;Retreat Hell! We just got here! quot; (Website For
Young Marines, Online)
Soon after the Germans learned a lesson in marksmanship they would not forget. A line was formed
across the road to Paris along a wooded area known as Belleau Woods. As the Germans approached,
they came under rifle fire that was accurate at ranges beyond their comprehension, up to 800 yards.
The deadly fire took the heart out of the German troops, and the

The Over-Glorification Of Che Guevara
To a large extent, popular culture glorifies the revolutionary, Che Guevara, by omitting his fatal flaws
and by turning his image into one of positivity and chic revolution. Che has become a pop culture icon
through his image appearing on t shirts, paintings and other popular media. While the trend is a
familiar one in Cuba, where his original supporters come from, it has become a western norm. Many
people will support Che through purchasing products in relation to him without knowing about him, or
what he stands for. Although Che was a heroic figure during the revolution to overthrow the
dictatorship of Batista, pop culture has influenced the masses to believe that he should be celebrated
but it fails to acknowledge his problematic qualities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The struggling masses agree to robbing banks because none of them has a penny in them. He tries to
justify his actions by saying that they are in aid of those living in poverty, giving him a type of power
that people cannot oppose due to being seen as someone who has no morality. Che tried to regulate the
lives of the people living in Cuba, but failed to abide by the same regulations on alcohol, informal
gambling and relations between men and women.
Cuba is still a communist country, but it still battles with people living in poverty (I). An image of a
run down street in Cuba is an example of the Cuba Che has left behind and that his efforts were in
vain because his main reason for having a communist takeover was to eradicate poverty, and yet that
is still the reality in Cuba today. Even though that is the reality, an image of Che appears alongside this
run down road on the wall, as people admire Che, and don t link their current living situation to that of
Che s help in creating the basis of the society they now live

Summary And Slavery In Billy Budd By Herman Melville
Billy Budd is one of Herman Melville s final works that was published years after his passing in 1891.
The novella is based on mutinies and the unfair treatment that individuals face when working at sea.
Herman Melville is able to portray a well developed novella through his extensive research and
knowledge about mutinies, his interesting background, and his ability to relate characters from his
own life to the story.
The Mutiny Act is a bill brought out by the government, in order to outlaw the rebelling against people
of authority. Although mutinies are banned by law, there have been a few instances where individuals
still decide to revolt against officers that are in charge. The Nore Mutiny of May 1797 is one of the
grandest rebellions that has ever occurred in England. The Nore mutiny takes place a month after the
successful uprising of Spithead anchorage near Portsmouth (Awcock On this Day: The Nore Mutiny,
12th May 1797). In Spithead, all demands; for increased wages, better working conditions, and a
decrease in work hours have been met. The successful demands made the individuals at Nore want to
retain the same working conditions as the people at Spithead. The Nore Mutiny occurred during the
time when Great Britain was at war with France, therefore, due to the economic restraints that the war
had caused, the government could not give the people at Nore the demands that they desperately
sought for (Awcock On this Day: The Nore Mutiny, 12th May 1797). The

A Study A Year After The Repeal Of Dadt
A study by the Palm Center, a research branch from the University of California Los Angeles Law
School, conducted a study a year after the repeal of DADT. The research group wanted to discover
what impacts the repeal has done to the military and according to their findings they concluded: (1)
The repeal of DADT has had no overall negative impact on military readiness or its component
dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or morale. (2) A
comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service members reported
the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even in those units that
included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have been the most likely to
experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not decline after the new policy of
open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and honesty resulting from repeal seem to
have promoted increased understanding, respect and acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by
the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has
remained robust. (5) Retention was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. There was no mass exodus of
military members as a result of repeal, and there were only two verifiable resignations linked to the
policy change, both military chaplains. Service members were as likely to say that they plan to re
enlist after DADT repeal as

Differences And Similarities Between Texas And Italy
Choosing between Texas fun amusement parks or Italy s beautifully painted villages are
uncomparable. However, through the opposites there are likenesses. There are many similarities and
differences between Texas and Italy in many factors. The factors that compare between the two are
their climate, landmarks and attractions, and lastly their culture.
The one element that really unites Texas and Italy is their climate. They both share the characteristic
of acquiring the sizzling and humid summers, however, Italy handles the heat with fearlessness. As
being the hottest country between the two, Italy with boldness are not known for their air conditioned
homes. Nonetheless, they have configured a solution to the heat and have architecturally established a
solution. With Italy s little rainfall compared to Texas , their solution of enlarging the number of
windows have since kept them cool and shielded from the little rainfall that they receive. Italy s
rainfall seems scarce compared to Texas bountiful showers that are triple more than Italy s. However,

The Endangered Species Act By Pete Mccloskey
I was inspired to get involved in politics in the 1970s by my local Congressman, Pete McCloskey, a
leading environmental advocate, co founder of the first Earth Day, and one of the original authors of
the Endangered Species Act. As a lifelong hiker and nature lover, two of my early heroes were John
Muir, the founder of the Sierra Club, and Rachel Carson, a leading conservationist of her time. Today,
I enjoy hiking through Catoctin Mountain Park, biking along the C and O Canal, and I am committed

Fracking / Fossil Fuels
The shale revolution has provided a new source of natural gas and energy independence for the United
States, but it must be carefully regulated to keep our nation s water supply safe and clean. That s why I
am a firm supporter of the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. In Congress, I will diligently
work to end the Halliburton Loophole, which has dangerously exempted fracking from necessary
federal environmental regulation, and I will advance efforts to create stronger regulations by the EPA
to ensure that hydraulic fracturing is practiced in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
I also oppose the Keystone Pipeline and support ending costly fossil fuel subsidies, which totaled over
$18.5 billion in the United States in 2013.2 This is a waste of taxpayer money, as the top five oil
companies earned $93 billion in profit in the same year.3 In Congress, I will fight to end Republican
expansion of oil subsidies and instead focus on incentivizing the production of clean energy that will
eliminate our dependence on coal and oil companies.

Normative Thesis
In chapter two, The Bases for Our Decisions and roles of Discernment, the author focuses mainly on
the reason for our choices as humans, and our capability of being righteousness as individuals. The
authors explains that every individual has different morals which comes to effect the decisions we
make as humans.
A Proposed Normative Basis:
How do we approach ethics?
In general everyone approaches an ethical situation differently depending on his or her priorities.
When it comes to our ethical decisions we tend to approach them with normative basis. This
sometimes includes our virtues, principles and the consequences that we might be able to handle.
Often times, these normative basis go hand in hand and we tend to use them together when it comes to
decision making. This all depends on which of the three is more important to the individual.
Describing a Normative Basis
A normative basis often times gives us an idea of person that we should become and how we should
approach others. It can give our lives a direction by shape our lives. As we grow up we may
experience different situations that might affect how we see the world. However, these situations and
experiences also play a role in helping us define what it means to have an ethical judgment ... Show

Fear In The Crucible
In 1953, the fear of communists infiltrating America caused a nationwide panic. The nation began a
witch hunt lead by Senator Joseph McCarthy to find these supposed communists. The government
targeted anyone and everyone, especially if they voiced opposition to the trials. Suspects threw
friends, acquaintances, and enemies under the bus to escape persecution. In response to this bout of
unjust trials, Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, a book about the witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts
in 1692, which later became a movie 1996.
The movie opens in the woods, where the village s young girls are dancing and screaming in various
states of undress. A slave from Barbados named Tituba is doing magic for the girls with local herbs,
chanting like a voodoo witch doctor. Then, in comes Abigail Williams, an arguably mentally unstable

in the movie, died in real life during the trials as well. The Crucible depicts the fear and struggles of
the people who lived during the time of 1692. It shows how the puritans didn t just do it for fun for the
most part , but because they truly believed witchcraft was real (wrong way to approach it, but good
motive.
However, there are some inaccuracies as well. The plot wasn t based on real life, but to keep readers
intrigued. The names, ages, events, and jobs of characters were changed. Some people who were
incredibly important to stopping the trials didn t even make an appearance. The reason the trials
stopped was because more people began to lie about being a witch, which is the opposite of what
Miller includes in the epilogue. Did John actually have an affair? No. Did Abigail actually become a

The company owns 17 gardens spread over 9500 hectares. Goodricke has built up a strong equity in
the tea business with its superior quality of tea enabled by continuous investments in upgrading
production and manufacturing facilities. Primarily a seller in the auction market, Goodricke now has
an equal proportion of sales in the bulk and packet tea segments, besides a significant presence in the
export market. India is the largest producer and consumer of tea in the world. Tea plantations in India
are concentrated in the North East (Upper Assam, West Bengal (and the South (Kerala, TamilNadu).
Tea production in 1998 was a record 870mnkg. Domestic tea consumption is estimated at around
625mn kg. and has been growing at an average annual rate of 4% p.a. Production on the other hand
has grown at a CAGR of 3%. The exportable surplus has therefore been declining over the last few
years. Exports in 1998 amounted to 206mn kg. Global tea production is highly concentrated in a few
countries like India, China, Kenya and Sri Lanka Indian tea bushes are very old and therefore

Examples Of Victimless Crimes
There are many different crimes occurring on a daily basis. Crimes committed can vary from murder,
rape, and robbery involving victims. There are crimes known as victimless crimes, where victims aren
t involved, such as white collar crime, prostitution, and drug abuse. The question is, what makes a
victim, a victim? A victim is defined as a person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime,
accident, or other event or action.
Drugs, for example, the rate of drug abuse is constantly rising, killing nearly 200,000 people a year
(Overdose Death Rates, 2015). Death from drug abuse, and death from the violence of drugs differ in
many ways. Children often get put in orphanages due to second hand drug use, and there are also

Right To Due Process Analysis
The right to due process law is the cornerstone of civil liberty and guarantees fairness to for all
citizens. It is defined as a fundamental principle of fairness in all legal matters, both civil and criminal,
especially in the courts. All legal procedures set by statute and court practice, including notice of
rights, must be followed for each individual so that no prejudicial or unequal treatment will result.
While somewhat indefinite, the term can be gauged by its aim to safeguard both private and public
rights against unfairness. (Dictionary Law, 2015).

An explanation of the evidence the authorities have to support the charges
The opportunity for the student to present his or her side of the problem
When a student In Dixon v. Alabama State Board of Education, the U.S. Court of Appeals (1961),
Fifth Circuit, declared that procedural due process was required for students when they are suspended
for more than ten days or expelled. All long term suspensions and expulsions must be evaluated in a
formal hearing. During this hearing, the student has the right to:
Know what specific rules were violated
Have the decision regarding the suspension/expulsion decided by an impartial three person panel
Bring evidence and witnesses on the student s behalf
Bring legal counsel
Have the hearing be closed to the public to protect the privacy of the student
This right to due process includes the right to notice and a fair hearing prior to the administration of
long term suspension or expulsion. In the cases of student misconduct such as bringing a weapon to
school, courts have noted that if the continued presence of a student in a school poses a danger to
persons or property, the student can be removed from school

Judicial Branch Vs Executive Branch
Separations of powers is a principle of the United States government, giving powers and
responsibilities that are divided among the legislative branch, executive branch, and judicial branch.
Checks and balances are certain powers that each branch of our federal government have to check on
each other and make sure one branch isn t doing something against the Constitution. These balances
between the branches ensure that no branch becomes too powerful. Preventing this means that all of
the branches are equal and balanced and allows a fair federal government for the people.
The branch that has the greatest amount of checks over the other branches is the legislative branch.
They have the most checks over the other branches for many reasons. One reason is that this branch
has the most people in it, combing both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Also, this branch
is the most directly elected by the people and has people from every state. So, giving the branch that is
the largest and is closest to the people is a good idea. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

President s powers. The legislative branch also checks on the judicial branch. It can do this by

other hand, the executive branch can also check back on the legislative by vetoing laws that the
President thinks are unconstitutional. Furthermore, the President (executive branch), can pardon any
person convicted of a federal crime, outrunning and overruling the judicial branch s decision. Finally,
the judicial branch, while considered the weakest, also has checks on the other branches. Its check on
the legislative branch is declaring laws that it creates unconstitutional. Similarly, it can declare

I wrote this poem because it talks about how a family sticks together, and without a family how are
you going succeed?
And how a family likes solving a puzzle because when you don t have a family you re never going to
solve the puzzle. The summer before my senior year of high school, the Toughys invited me to live
with them full time (Oher, Yaegar 140). I wrote this ode to show how Michael cares about his family,
and how they encourage him. Everyone around me was pitching in to help me reach a potential I never
knew I had. (Oher,Yaeger, 161). In other words Michael s career was technically based on how his
family raised him and how they taught him to be himself.

Analysis Of The Poem An Athlete Dying Young
So many young athlete s keep on their mind the fame, fortune, victories, and championships that come
with being a good athlete. Some young athletes take hold of the feeling of being invincible and feel
like they are on top of the world. Some people wonder what it would take to get this young athlete off
this feeling and come down to reality. The answer is quite simple and unforgettable. The answer is
death. Death comes to everyone, even if you are a state champion, star track runner, or captain of the
soccer team. Death does not care about your list of accomplishments. When death calls, how will
everyone remember you? In the poem To an Athlete Dying Young by A. E. Housman, the idea of
dying young as an athlete is better than having to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Housman want the readers to see in this stanza the pedestal that society puts achieving athletes on. The
athlete was glorified so much that the townspeople brought him home shoulder high. Housman is
conveying that the glory an athlete receives comes from the society putting an athlete atop other
people, rather than from inside an individual athlete. The transition from the first stanza into the next
was not very well. To day, the road all runners come/Shoulder high we bring you home/And set you at
your threshold down/Townsman of a stiller town (5 8). This stanza has much to say. Housman first
references back to the town putting the athlete on a pedestal. The athlete is being treated like royalty
because the words shoulder high and threshold give evidence that the townsman think highly of the
athlete. There is a foreshadowing of death at the end of the stanza. The reason of the stiller town is the
setting down of the athlete. Here one can see the call and response between these rhyming lines.
Going back to the beginning of the poem, Housman acknowledged the glory that the athlete acquired
by winning the race. In the next stanza, he elucidates that glory withers away. Smart lad, to slip
betimes away/From fields where glory does not stay (9 10). Housman is praising the athlete for
bowing out early. The athlete wouldn t have won every race and eventually disappoint the crowd. The
glory that the athlete has will not stay once death has come to take them

By the end of the proposed project work we can achieve the market demand for the cheap and efficient

mechanical and thermal substrate properties. And also improve the durability of the metallic substrate
due to improved wear resistances of the substrate. Cost of the feedstock material can be drastically
reduced with the same mechanical and thermal properties provide by standard feedstock materials.

And also flexible to resolve complicated designs by using high density inert gases to attain high
particle velocity which gains high bond strength. Even with superior advantages it has drawbacks,
mainly the cost factor because feedstock materials are very expensive due pre processing for the finest
outcome. So we got to be using industrial waste fly ash material to 90% cost free feedstock material.
By the investigation of fly ash composition and micro structure it shows terrific mechanical properties
and good wear resistances due contain of oxides which can be utilised as proactive ceramic coating
material and has low thermal conductivity (Satapathy et al, 2009). No pre processing is needed
because of its microstructure has spherical shape that makes the flow ability easy. Most importantly it
s very inexpensive when compared other feedstock materials used in other thermal spray coating.
Because of its exceptional benefits many sectors such as automotive, construction, other

the substrate by coating ceramic material on the ductile materials.

Conflict Resolution And Child Custody
Conflict Resolution Child Custody
As a future marital and family therapist and even as a trainee, it is important to understand the
systemic thinking behind the practice. For those therapists, like myself, that want to become experts in
more an area, it is also important to delve into the theory and practice of that area. For example, child
custody is a big piece to conflict resolution when it comes to thinking systemically in the family. The
current divorce rate is around 50 percent and ever rising, which can be troubling yet promising when it
comes to the mediation field.
For the judicial system, this causes case overload, tired workers, and a lot of fees for the citizens going
to the family courts. One of the biggest things that could potentially stop a family from being happy
with their results is if the courts assign them custody agreements without thinking about each
individual factor. Each family is different and there is no cookie cutter answer when it comes to child
custody. If the family is assigned a family mediator, not only will it save long term costs, it can help
ensure each party feels heard and they are voluntarily agreeing to the terms.
Reasoning for Choosing Topic
When assigned this paper, I had no idea what to write about, since the conflict resolution is so broad.
But I sat down and thought about why I decided to take this class and why I wanted to get my
mediation certificate. As I said in class, I have seen really poor mediation, I have seen

Our Culture Is One That Is More Prone To Speak Rather Than
Our culture is one that is more prone to speak rather than listen and when we listen the majority of us
are listening to reply and not listening to understand. Listening is a vital interpersonal skill and it
supports us in the ability to communicate and interact with people. (Dean, 1997) There are many
different types of listening and in this essay I will seek to cover the many aspects to Empathetic
listening , such as, what exactly is Empathetic listening, the importance of Empathetic listening, when
should Empathetic listening be used and who should use it, and where Empathetic listening is most
needed and used. Empathetic listening is an essential aspect to listening because empathetic listening

(Dean, 1997). Empathetic listeners must pay attention to the speaker with their entire presence and
avoid being distracted from the outside interruptions include focusing on their own response. For
Example, the listener should, lean forward, maintain close eye contact, take time to understand the
speaker s words, ask for clarification, repeat a phrase or word, and express genuine concern.
Additionally, the speaker should pay close attention to the speaker s overall communication, such as,
body language, thoughts and feelings. (Hagevik, 1999). As quoted in Hicks, 2016, The context of the
person s story is like watching a movie in black and white, listening for feeling adds the colour. For
successful empathetic listening, the listener needs to listen to understand rather than listening to reply.
(Dean, 1997). Furthermore, an empathetic listener must listen from the heart so they can develop a
real understanding for the speaker s words and emotions. (Hagevik, 1999). To develop progression
and a close relationship between the listener and the speaker Dr Rogers believes that empathetic
listening is an essential key in communication as the speaker may feel as though someone does care
about them and their issues as they are finally being heard and understood.

Satire In Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles
Satire walks a fine line between funny and not. If the audience does not understand the true intentions
of a satirical film then it is often seen as being offensive. Satire is designed to bring attention to
serious issues by making fun of them. Due to the nature of subjects often broached in satirical films
people often mistake them for supporting the very ideals they are trying to bring attention to. This can
be seen in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles as the characters will often say very offensive things and if
one did not understand that it was all meant to be taken with a few grains of salt then they would
interpret the movie as being extremely offensive. Due to satires ability to bring attention to the

Characteristics Of Esther
One of the wonders of the Christian faith is the people it produces and their determination to do what
is right in the eyes of God, no matter the risks. Throughout the old testament, there are numerous
accounts of specific people that show a great amount of faith in God and believe in his divinity; of
these many examples, one of the greatest people that come to mind is Esther, who can be described
with three Godly traits. Furthermore, the traits that Esther possesses, modesty, self control, and being
hidden, along with many others make her the prime example of what it means to be devoted to God.
She was chosen to be brought to the palace, taken from her former life, and pampered into a beauty fit
for a queen; but what made Esther special to the king and everyone around her was not her beauty, but
rather her clear devotion to God and the higher purpose she possessed. Esther is what people, both
men and women, should strive to be, possessing these traits and focusing on what is important: inner
beauty through God. The first trait that will be discussed is the trait of modesty. Modesty is something
that is important to God and it is an important factor in the Christian faith. Therefor, Esther s display
of modesty offers an example of her devotion to God. An example of Esther s modesty can be found
during her time preparing to become the queen. The former Queen had promoted a much more brazen
style and was not afraid to let her body be seen; this, of

Ernest Hemingway s Writing
Earnest Hemingway s work gives a glimpse of how people deal with their problems in society. He
conveys his own characteristics through his simple and iceberg writing style, his male characters
constant urge to prove their masculinity.
Hemingway s writing style is not the most complicated one in contrast to other authors of his time. He
uses plain grammar and easily accessible vocabulary in his short stories; capturing more audience,
especially an audience with less reading experience. If you d gone on that way we wouldn t be here

Many times his fictions are are taken from real life experiences, and many times those experiences are
exaggerated in his nonfictions, thus making him very aware of what he is writing. This gives him an
edge over omitting certain descriptions. This technique is used in one of his story The doctor chewed
the beard on his lower lip and looked at Dick Boulton. Then he turned away and walked up the hill to
the cottage. Reader figures that the doctor is nervous, uncertain and maybe bit scared of Dick.
Hemingway doesn t tell the reader directly about the emotions and feeling, but leaves it on to readers
to infer. The same technique is also used in the Three Day Blow while talking about his father Nick
said He claims he s never taken a drink in his life and also mentioned He s missed a lot (Hemingway
44). This line to reader might seem like Nick feels that his father has not lived his life to its fullest and
he doesn t want to make same mistakes as he did. Hemingway could have said that Nick doesn t want
to be like his dad when it comes to getting drunk instead he uses his iceberg principle which helps him
convey the meaning to the reader more effectively. Same technique goes in Hemingway s Mr and Mrs
Elliot . Quote In most of Hemingway s stories his male characters are always at urge of proving their
masculinity thus not taking their manliness for granted. His characters often like going out in woods,

Witches and spells from Shakespeare s novels may seem far fetched in today s society, but in ancient
times, those matters were very serious; use of magic was a criminal offence and could even be

This is monetarily consuming. Departments who are feeling the affect of the budget reductions may
feel bitter towards the newspaper. The other departments have needs that they feel are more important,
for example, the graduate student department. They are having to cut funds to their graduate students
and yet the newspaper is fully operational. This is also a display of conflicting resources. The
university has a diminishing budget. Many groups on campus have been affected by this and are
claiming whatever power they have left to keep their remaining budget. If one group makes a mistake
and the other has a chance to claim some of their budget, they surely will. This changes the dynamic
that departments have with each other.
The office of Residential Life and the Graduate School have both expressed their concern for their
international student s safety. This is a problem for our university reputation. If news spreads about the
uncomfort students feel, even in response to a fake article, it could threaten our potential student s
outlook on our university. The two departments are reinforcing the idea because they have not calmed
the fire. Instead of going directly to the source of the articles, they have chosen to turn to a higher
department to explain their grievances which creates a conflict between the newspaper and the other
two departments.

As a logical consequence, Postmes and Brunsting (2002) reasoned that the Internet is changing society
because people s cognitive processes, triggered by access to information and communication, replace
the strong social ties that traditionally underpin committed activism. In simpler words, in the past,
humanity used the herd instinct as the main driving force behind committed forms of activism. Thanks
to the Internet, we climb another step or three on the evolutionary ladder, and simply do away with the
herd instinct and replace it with reason. The argument, if put this way, does not sound particularly
strong. What can be taken away is that social media is still evolving, that social media changes the
way we or most of us communicate, that social media is used in social and political activism, and that
the Internet increases quantitative if not qualitative access to information.

The Atom And The Atomic Of The Energy Level Of Its Electrons
This energy will excite the affected atom, raising the energy level of its electrons. If these electrons are
excited past the range of the nuclei s binding attractive force, then the electron will jettison from the
atom. These two particles, the ionized atom and electron, are now detectable indicating the presence of

In the conversion of alternating current to direct current, electrons from alternating current will also
enter the diode on the left. However, in part to the oscillating nature of alternating current, the diode
output of direct current will be relatively choppy, since electrons can only move towards the electron
holes in the P type semiconductor (Kuphaldt).
As a result of the choppy nature of the direct current output, a capacitor is used to smooth the electron
fluxes (Copello). A capacitor is an electrical component that stores charge. In its most basic form, a
capacitor is made up of two metal plates with an insulated layer between them ( Capacitors ). As the
electrons flow into the capacitor, their concentration and charge builds up on one plate. Additionally,
due to the repulsive nature of electrons, the buildup of electrons on one plate will push the electrons
from the other plate, creating a current out of the capacitor ( Capacitors ). This makes one plate
positively charged and the other negatively charged. At this point, the capacitor is storing energy. So,
the capacitor smooths the fluctuating direct current by slowly releasing its charge between input spikes
( Capacitors ). This generates a more consistent flow of direct current to the electric grids.
Another primary component of the Farnsworth Fusor is its two concentric electrical grids. The DC
current produced by the diode will be run

During that period he carved several prophets for the Florentine Campanile, including the Zuccone
(Baldhead), a vibrant characterization. In 1430 32, he went to Rome with Brunelleschi and became
one of the first Renaissance artists interested in ancient monuments. Reflections of classical putti
(male infants) can be found in his rendering of the lively cherubs in the Singing Gallery (1433 38,
cathedral mus.) and in the pulpit at Prato. Classical influence is also evident in his bronze David
(c.1432, Bargello), one of the earliest freestanding nude figures of the Renaissance. In demand
throughout Italy, Donatello was invited to Padua in 1443, where he stayed for 10 years as the head of
an enormous workshop. He designed the equestrian statue of Gattamelata (1447 53) and the high altar
for Sant Antonio (1446 50). Upon his return to Florence, he carved the acutely expressive Magdalen
(c.1460?, baptistery), which was greatly damaged by the flood of 1966. In his last years he worked on
the pulpits of San Lorenzo, creating a magnificent series of reliefs. He was one of the most influential
painters and sculptors of his time. Most of his works have remained in Florence, but a good
representation can be seen in London s Victoria and Albert Museum. Two examples of his work can be
found in American collections, an unfinished David (National Gall. of Art, Washington, D.C.) and the

The Hound Of The Baskerville By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay
Rationalism And Superstition: A Critical Study Of The Hound Of The Baskerville By Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle
Introduction
The book The Hound Of The Baskerville was written in 1901. The novel was published in serial form
from 1901 to 1902. It has proved to be a great success even today and is considered by some Sherlock
Holmes scholars to be Doyle s best work. It has inspired more than twenty film and television
reinterpretations, made in diverse places such as Germany, Australia, Canada, the United States, and
also the United Kingdom. The most recent such reinvention of this story can be seen in the BBC series
Sherlock, although this is in fact very much different from the original novel.
Doyle was inspired to write the novel when he was staying with his friend, Bertram Fletcher Robinson
in 1901. He named the character Sir Henry Baskerville after the gardener of Robinson named Harry
Baskerville. Doyle had met Robinson on a return voyage from South Africa and Robinson told him
about a legend from his home region of Devon, England. Later, Robinson showed Doyle the moor
known as Dartmoor, upon which the story is based. It is the largest open space in the southern region
of England. Doyle also wrote a letter to her mother commenting that the moor was a great place, very
sad and wild, dotted with the dwellings of prehistoric man, huts and graves . And this is where Doyle
got his inspiration from. The atmosphere of a place which is not inhabited by any man is pervasive in
the story

Homeless Veterans Thesis
The Detrimental Effects of Drugs on Homeless Veterans
Thesis: The usage of drugs in the homeless veteran community, has contributed to a challenging
recovery from the disadvantage of homelessness; the federal government needs to create more
programs in order to help these veterans. In America today, there are between 2.3 and 3.5 million
people experiencing homelessness, and nearly one quarter of all homeless adults have served in the
armed forces. There are about 200,000 veterans experiencing homelessness on any given night.
Considering that this number is so large, there should be several federal agencies helping, but there is
not. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the only agency that works to resolve the issue of
homeless veterans.

  • 2. Similarities Between King Lear And Catcher In The Rye The truth of one s character can be expressed through his or her own thoughts, actions, and words. Respectively, one s downfall is embodied by his or her own character. In William Shakespeare s King Lear, Lear s character is depicted as one who descends into madness as a result of his irrational actions early in the play. Similarly, Holden Caulfield, from J.D Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, enters the coming of age process; however, his behaviour illustrates his ongoing cynicism and depression. The reasons behind Lear and Holden s downfall exist in the physical, social and psychological flaws they inherit as tragic heroes. Both individuals suffer immensely from their unreasonable actions from ill considered decision making, their inability to maintain genuine relationships with others, and the psychological conflict within them. Although both protagonists come from contrasting statuses and time periods, Lear and Holden are alike in the way that they make arbitrary decisions, thus, breeding foolish actions. As a king, Lear carries himself with great pride and dignity; however, it is this power that clouds his vision in making well thought out decisions. In the beginning of the play, Lear decides to divide his kingdom into three a section for each daughter. The scene ends unsuccessfully with Cordelia and Kent being banished Lear. When Lear asks his daughters who love him the most, he sees Cordelia s response as rejection compared to the responses of Goneril and Regan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Asian Americans academic success comes from a combination of helpful parents, a motivation to succeed, a supportive academic space, a supportive community and economic resources. In this paper, I will argue that Asian Americans attend college due to their cultural roots and familial expectations. Along the way to success are some hardships like stereotypes, gender differences and economic difficulties, but there is also prosperity in means of cultural and familial involvement. Since the teachers had higher expectations for these students, this made the students feel more capable of doing things (Kristof, 2015). Stereotypes have a lot to do with the effects of an individual s success or a group s success. The article uses a stereotype that Asian Americans are supposed to be good at math, and even though some can live up to that expectation, troubles are created for those who cannot live up to that expectation. This stereotype makes Asian Americans less focused on being personally creative and seems more focused on memorization, sticking to the book and following equations. According to this video, computer science is a certain way to impact the world. This course will provide more information about computer science and why it is important to know. Stage 2. The Maze Here, I learned the basics about coding through different games. In the first one, I helped an angry bird move through a maze in order to get to the evil pig. In order to write a program, I needed to drag and drop blocks correctly. Also, by using the repeat block in the game I learned how loops are valuable and how computer repeat commands can be useful so people do not waste their time. Next, I had to use repeat until block to set determined goals such as until the angry bird gets the pig. Another game was about a zombie that I needed to feed, where I also used repeat until command to achieve the goal. Besides, I learnt about fundamental concept in programming if statement. By using if commands the computer program makes a decision. Then, I learn about if/else block command, which made a decision what zombie should do choosing between the two actions. • 7. Procrastination Of His Father s Death In Hamlet, By... Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, is a very complex play with many catechisms scholars study to this day. One such question relates to Hamlet s procrastination for vengeance of his father s death. Confronted by the ghost of his father, Hamlet is instructed to revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (Shakespeare I.v.31), yet he goes on to tarry the act for almost the entirety of the play. This brings about many ideas as to why he took such delay and the effect it had on the characters involved and the play itself as a whole. Hamlet had promised the ghost that [he], with wings as swift/ as meditation or the thoughts of love/ may sweep to [his] revenge (Shakespeare I.v.35 7). This, to an unfamiliar reader, would seem very straightforward, yet Hamlet speaks with no cause. He procrastinates so much that, later in the play, the ghost reappears to remind him to not forget. This visitation / Is but to whet thy almost blunted purpose (Shakespeare III.iv.136 7). His father literally comes back as a ghost to remind Hamlet that he is supposed to be seeking revenge. Hamlet seems so uninterested in the idea of actually going through with avenging his father s death; rather, he dwells on it and falls into depression, not acting on his anger or instruction whatsoever. Hamlet himself does not recognize a reason for his dally. He is extremely upset by his inability to enact vengeance. It deeply upsets him that an actor in a dream of passion... should weep (Shakespeare II.ii.579 87) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Summary And Slavery In Billy Budd By Herman Melville Billy Budd is one of Herman Melville s final works that was published years after his passing in 1891. The novella is based on mutinies and the unfair treatment that individuals face when working at sea. Herman Melville is able to portray a well developed novella through his extensive research and knowledge about mutinies, his interesting background, and his ability to relate characters from his own life to the story. The Mutiny Act is a bill brought out by the government, in order to outlaw the rebelling against people of authority. Although mutinies are banned by law, there have been a few instances where individuals still decide to revolt against officers that are in charge. The Nore Mutiny of May 1797 is one of the grandest rebellions that has ever occurred in England. The Nore mutiny takes place a month after the successful uprising of Spithead anchorage near Portsmouth (Awcock On this Day: The Nore Mutiny, 12th May 1797). In Spithead, all demands; for increased wages, better working conditions, and a decrease in work hours have been met. The successful demands made the individuals at Nore want to retain the same working conditions as the people at Spithead. The Nore Mutiny occurred during the time when Great Britain was at war with France, therefore, due to the economic restraints that the war had caused, the government could not give the people at Nore the demands that they desperately sought for (Awcock On this Day: The Nore Mutiny, 12th May 1797). The research group wanted to discover what impacts the repeal has done to the military and according to their findings they concluded: (1) The repeal of DADT has had no overall negative impact on military readiness or its component dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or morale. (2) A comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service members reported the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even in those units that included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have been the most likely to experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not decline after the new policy of open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and honesty resulting from repeal seem to have promoted increased understanding, respect and acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has remained robust. (5) Retention was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. • 22. Judicial Branch Vs Executive Branch Separations of powers is a principle of the United States government, giving powers and responsibilities that are divided among the legislative branch, executive branch, and judicial branch. Checks and balances are certain powers that each branch of our federal government have to check on each other and make sure one branch isn t doing something against the Constitution. These balances between the branches ensure that no branch becomes too powerful. Preventing this means that all of the branches are equal and balanced and allows a fair federal government for the people. The branch that has the greatest amount of checks over the other branches is the legislative branch. They have the most checks over the other branches for many reasons. One reason is that this branch has the most people in it, combing both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Also, this branch is the most directly elected by the people and has people from every state. So, giving the branch that is the largest and is closest to the people is a good idea. ... Some young athletes take hold of the feeling of being invincible and feel like they are on top of the world. Some people wonder what it would take to get this young athlete off this feeling and come down to reality. The answer is quite simple and unforgettable. The answer is death. Death comes to everyone, even if you are a state champion, star track runner, or captain of the soccer team. Death does not care about your list of accomplishments. The transition from the first stanza into the next was not very well. To day, the road all runners come/Shoulder high we bring you home/And set you at your threshold down/Townsman of a stiller town (5 8). This stanza has much to say. Housman first references back to the town putting the athlete on a pedestal. The athlete is being treated like royalty because the words shoulder high and threshold give evidence that the townsman think highly of the athlete. There is a foreshadowing of death at the end of the stanza. The reason of the stiller town is the setting down of the athlete. Here one can see the call and response between these rhyming lines. Going back to the beginning of the poem, Housman acknowledged the glory that the athlete acquired by winning the race. In the next stanza, he elucidates that glory withers away. Smart lad, to slip betimes away/From fields where glory does not stay (9 10). Housman is praising the athlete for bowing out early. Conflict Resolution And Child Custody Conflict Resolution Child Custody As a future marital and family therapist and even as a trainee, it is important to understand the systemic thinking behind the practice. For those therapists, like myself, that want to become experts in more an area, it is also important to delve into the theory and practice of that area. For example, child custody is a big piece to conflict resolution when it comes to thinking systemically in the family. The current divorce rate is around 50 percent and ever rising, which can be troubling yet promising when it comes to the mediation field. For the judicial system, this causes case overload, tired workers, and a lot of fees for the citizens going to the family courts. One of the biggest things that could potentially stop a family from being happy with their results is if the courts assign them custody agreements without thinking about each individual factor. Each family is different and there is no cookie cutter answer when it comes to child custody. If the family is assigned a family mediator, not only will it save long term costs, it can help ensure each party feels heard and they are voluntarily agreeing to the terms. Reasoning for Choosing Topic When assigned this paper, I had no idea what to write about, since the conflict resolution is so broad. Throughout the old testament, there are numerous accounts of specific people that show a great amount of faith in God and believe in his divinity; of these many examples, one of the greatest people that come to mind is Esther, who can be described with three Godly traits. Furthermore, the traits that Esther possesses, modesty, self control, and being hidden, along with many others make her the prime example of what it means to be devoted to God. She was chosen to be brought to the palace, taken from her former life, and pampered into a beauty fit for a queen; but what made Esther special to the king and everyone around her was not her beauty, but rather her clear devotion to God and the higher purpose she possessed. Esther is what people, both men and women, should strive to be, possessing these traits and focusing on what is important: inner beauty through God. The first trait that will be discussed is the trait of modesty. Modesty is something that is important to God and it is an important factor in the Christian faith. Therefor, Esther s display of modesty offers an example of her devotion to God. An example of Esther s modesty can be found during her time preparing to become the queen. Thanks to the Internet, we climb another step or three on the evolutionary ladder, and simply do away with the herd instinct and replace it with reason. The argument, if put this way, does not sound particularly strong. However, in part to the oscillating nature of alternating current, the diode output of direct current will be relatively choppy, since electrons can only move towards the electron holes in the P type semiconductor (Kuphaldt). As a result of the choppy nature of the direct current output, a capacitor is used to smooth the electron fluxes (Copello). A capacitor is an electrical component that stores charge. In its most basic form, a capacitor is made up of two metal plates with an insulated layer between them ( Capacitors ). As the electrons flow into the capacitor, their concentration and charge builds up on one plate. Additionally, due to the repulsive nature of electrons, the buildup of electrons on one plate will push the electrons from the other plate, creating a current out of the capacitor ( Capacitors ). This makes one plate positively charged and the other negatively charged. At this point, the capacitor is storing energy. So, the capacitor smooths the fluctuating direct current by slowly releasing its charge between input spikes ( Capacitors ). This generates a more consistent flow of direct current to the electric grids. Another primary component of the Farnsworth Fusor is its two concentric electrical grids. During that period he carved several prophets for the Florentine Campanile, including the Zuccone (Baldhead), a vibrant characterization. In 1430 32, he went to Rome with Brunelleschi and became one of the first Renaissance artists interested in ancient monuments. Reflections of classical putti (male infants) can be found in his rendering of the lively cherubs in the Singing Gallery (1433 38, cathedral mus.) and in the pulpit at Prato. Classical influence is also evident in his bronze David (c.1432, Bargello), one of the earliest freestanding nude figures of the Renaissance. In demand throughout Italy, Donatello was invited to Padua in 1443, where he stayed for 10 years as the head of an enormous workshop. He designed the equestrian statue of Gattamelata (1447 53) and the high altar for Sant Antonio (1446 50). Upon his return to Florence, he carved the acutely expressive Magdalen (c.1460?, baptistery), which was greatly damaged by the flood of 1966.
