As a white, middle class, able bodied woman living in the United States, I recognize my privilege and
wish to use it to the advantage of helping those who are marginalized and oppressed within our

hegemony influences our social, political, institutional and cultural society in the United States, which
contributes to the marginalization of oppressed groups. As someone who identifies as bisexual, I hope
to support the LGBT community by being an ally, advocating for equity and equality, as well as being

My First Family Reunion
When anyone thinks of a perfect family photo, they imagine a family with fancy clothing, a bright
sunny day, green grass and faces that have been enhanced. When my family takes photos they are not
