Similarities Between The English Reformation And The Puritans
The English Reformation and the Puritans:
Book page 30 A History of Christianity in the USA and Canada
The Vitality of England and its culture grew stronger throughout the sixteen century and on into the
seventeenth. It was a time of literary splendor, climaxed by the incomparable works of William
Shakespeare. This was a time to comparable to exam plified by the sea captains Sir Francis Drake and
John Hawkins, who defected the Spanish Armada in 1588. It was a time of population growth and
economic activity with new wealth flowing to several levels of society. And it was a time of religious

It was the English who played the major part in setting British North America were Protestants of a
distinct type. When the youthful Edward VI succeeded Henry VII in 1547, his Protestant advisors
greatly accelerated the pace of religious change in England. They enhanced the authority of such
leaders as the Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer, whose liturgical theology was a subtle
blend of Lutheran and reformed emphases seasoned by the wisdom of the early church. And they
encouraged the removal of Roman Catholic practices and customs that had survived under Henry VIII.
In this reforming context the most advanced group of Protestants seized the opportunity to push
reform in England to what they thought was its logical conclusion. King Edwards died in 1553 and
was successful by his half sister Mary Tudor. Under her rule, Protestants, common people as well as
leaders such as Cranmer, went to the flames for their conviction. Others laid low in England or escape.
When Mary Tudor died in 1558, the refugees were to be return home. And the greater purity in the

John Rolfe s Impact On America
Period 2: John Rolfe: John Rolfe influenced America in many ways both economically and socially.
Rolfe was known as the person who first successfully cultivated tobacco as a export crop and the first
to marry a native American, Pocahontas. He was born on May 6, 1585 by his parents john Rolfe and
Dorothy mason. During the time of this birth, Tobacco had grown more and more popular. John saw it
as a great way to make business. In 1608 john aboard a ship that was set to sail to Virginia, but the
ship was crashed and had led them to be stranded from months. Later he and the other people who
were stranded build a new ship and continued their voyage to the new colonies (Virginia). Rolfe was
able to get planted tobacco seeds from the West indies that were a little different from the native ones
but easy to grow in the colonies. The seeds that he had were a little bit sweeter and not as harsh which
grabbed the interest of the Virginia company even though Spain had declared a death penalty to
anyone who was selling it to non spains. Once he had produced enough tobacco from his first
shipment to England the price of tobacco shot sky high. John Rolfe paved the road for the
development and settlement of the New world. His success also led to be a encouragement for others
who wanted to start new business in the New World. When John Rolfe moved to Virginia he met the
daughter of Powhatan who was kidnapped by Jamestown settlers, but it never happened. Pocahontas

Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech At The Virginia Convention
During 1775, colonists were going through something that affected them deeply. Living under Britain
s rule, they had little to no freedom. In Speech at the Virginia Convention Henry expresses his view on
living under Britain s rule. He encourages American men to fight against the British in order to ensure
freedom. Patrick Henry persuades his audience by showing it will be necessary to go to battle through
his powerful use of ethos, imagery and rhetorical questions. Patrick Henry establishes credibility by
showing that it will be necessary to go to battle through his use of ethos in the text. Should I keep back
my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of
treason towards my country (Henry). This explains that Patrick feels that if he holds back in order to
not offend anyone, it ll be like betraying his own country. Moreover, Patrick Henry expresses
credibility by stating Guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the
majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings (Henry). He reveals that he is guilty of
treason towards his country, which shows an act of disloyalty towards God in which he respects more
than anyone. Next, Henry uses metaphors throughout the text to convey his credibility. I have but one
lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience (Henry). This explains that him
being experienced is the only reason why he continues to keep fighting and

The Role of the Prosecutor Essay
In the American Criminal Justice System, there are four key attributes in the role of the prosecutor.
There are discretion, resource dependence, sequential tasks, and filtering. The prosecutors are lawyers
that are accountable for presenting criminal cases in trial. The United States Attorneys are pointed by
state or government, and represent the federal government in courts. They prosecute all adults who
commit felonies and juveniles who commit delinquent crimes. Conjointly, the prosecutors have further
responsibilities, such as legal adviser of the country commissioners, the Board of Elections, and

Defense Attorneys
A criminal defense attorney is a lawyer that is specialized in the defense of those who are charged with
criminal conduct. Defense attorneys deal with the surrounding issues of an arrest of their clients, and
the substantive issues of a crime that he or she is charged. In the United States, each individual who is
brought to trail is eligible for a defense attorney, according to the sixth amendment. If an individual
cannot afford an attorney, one is a pointed by the courts; these individuals are called public defenders
who are employed by the government. The duties of a defense attorney, is to advocate and advice. In
order, for the defense attorney to work effectively, the defendant must supply all the facts and
information surrounding the case. Moreover, the defendant is protected by attorney client privilege.
Thus, any exchange information concerning the case is private and protected under the law. The
criminal defense attorney role is to assist the courts with the truth seeking process by presentation an

Close Reading of What the Snakes Brings to the World by...
What the Snake Brings to the World is a 2002 poem by the Canadian poet Lorna Crozier. The poem is
free verse, with four stanzas of 6, 4, 4 and 9 lines respectively. The poem is riddled with Biblical
allusions, with the snake being its focal point, making extensive comment on the nature and
consequences of the aforementioned snake. A dominant reading of the poem outlines the duplicity of
the nature of evil and sin and related consequences. An alternate reading of the poem conveys the idea
of the human progression reflected by post lapsarian linguistics. Finally, a resistant reading attacks the
very nature, role and impacts of the Judaeo Christian tradition, claiming it to be fault laden.
The primary, dominant, idea being conveyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The end of the poem confirms that without the snake that is modern linguistics, we d have to live with
the singular of everything , expressively oppressed by the lack of freedom within dated language
systems that existed before the Fall of Man. However, there is possible ambivalence within in poem,
as the final word is truth with a capital T , a letter previously sidelined along with its association to
dated and useless language systems. This may possibly suggest that there is in fact room for pre
lapsarian linguistics, but perhaps only within a Biblical context.
A resistant reading of the poem uncovers the idea that religion, specifically the Judeo Christian
religious tradition, is intrinsically harmful and retrogressive in nature. If the snake is interpreted as a
synecdoche for Judaeo Christian religious tradition as a whole, a profoundly negative opinion of such
an ideology is formed throughout the poem. Without the snake that is this religion, there would be no
pain and suffering . The poem asks, what could bear such a weight , interrogating the conscience of
religion, implying guilt on its behalf. Furthermore, the imagery suggested in the second stanza
surrounding the snake s shadow evokes negative ideas concerning the nature of the religion, which is
further bolstered by its ability to separate itself from this shadow, and to move on

Reflection Paper On Homelessness And Homelessness
When we were first introduced to this assignment, I was both excited and nervous. I was excited
because it gave me the opportunity to step of my comfort zone. I was also excited to be able to get out
into the community and practice some of the social work skills that we have learned in class. I was
nervous because I knew it would be hard to hear the struggles of a single parent experiencing
homelessness. As someone who was raised by a single parent, I also know how easy it can be to fall
into homelessness. Overall, I think I was more excited about doing this assignment because I truly did
want to hear the stories that single parents experiencing homelessness wanted to tell.

My thoughts have stayed the same about homelessness; however, I certainly have started to
acknowledge that homelessness is a very real thing. I also try my hardest to recognize that these
individuals are people; therefore, I now make it a point to at least make eye contact with them on the
street.
Social Justice
As I stated before, far too often our society ignores that homelessness is a struggle for many people.
Additionally, our society often thinks these people choose to be homeless. Terra talked about an
incident at a gas station, and how one of the employees at the gas station said all the people at across
the street are drunks and addicts. She talked about how upset she gets when people have these
misconceptions about people that are struggling with homelessness. Hearing her talk about this broke
my heart because our society should not shame people for being homeless; instead, we should be
looking at solutions to end homelessness. It is a human right to have basic human needs, yet our
society continually provokes their unjust agenda.
Our society also tends to ignore domestic violence, which is something that my mother and Terra both
faced. Terra could not get any help with service providers because her children and her were not in
immediate danger; although, Terra certainly knew they were in danger. Social justice is helping

Rhetorical Techniques in Richard Wright’s Black Boy Essay
Rhetorical Techniques in Richard Wright s Black Boy
Richard Wright uses language in his novel, Black Boy, as a source to convey his opinions and ideas.
His novel both challenges and defends the claim that language can represent a person and become a
peephole into their life and surroundings. Richard Wright uses several rhetorical techniques to convey
his own ideas about the uses of language.
First, Wright s language and writing style in Black Boy challenge Baldwin s ideas. For example, pages
18 19 are purely figures pf speech that convey the writer as being far different than Wright. There was
the languor I felt when I heard green leaves rustling with a rain like sound. This quote was just one of

their breath, and ponder the delicacy of each statement. The detail, especially in this sentence, their
was the aching glory in masses of clouds burning gold and purple from an invisible sun, assisted the
reader in the mental imagery. Wright s mature use of rhetorical strategies in his passage challenged
Baldwin s idea that language represents the person speaking, or writing in this case. Wright s language
did not represent his parents, his youth, his school, his salary, nor his self esteem. His language merely
validified Richard as a gifted, educated man with a talent far beyond his years.
Second, similar strategies used to challenge Baldwin s ideas, were also used to defend his ideas.
Baldwin stated that language reveals a private identity, and can divorce one from the larger, public, or
communal identity. In this sense, Richard s writing did just that. For example, his syntax, full of
elongated sentences, gave his words rhythm; a rhythm that created a border between him and his
peers. The fluidity of his lines made him different from the young, black writers of his age. He used
parallelism in lines such as, there was the yearning for identification loosed in me by the sight of a
solitary ant carrying a burden upon a mysterious journey. In addition, the way in which Wright

Reflection About Fenimies
Frenimies Throughout the years I have always stayed strong and true to myself and to my beliefs.
When I was eleven years old, adventuring into sixth grade, I met a girl named Ashley who turned out
to be my best friend. As the time went on, our friendship grew stronger and our families became more
compact, eventually leading us to do everything together. This ranged from Sunday family dinners to
even vacationing together. We were so close that despite the fact we looked nothing alike, and we
were in fact utterly opposite physically, people always asked if we were sisters. However, as soon as
junior year in high school came, things took a turn for the worst. The beginning of junior year started
off with all things being ordinary. Ashley had her boyfriend who she had been dating for two years,
and I had a boy who I was talking to so the four of us did went out on together weekly. Around
Christmas time Ashley would make plans with me, along with our friend group. An hour before we
would go out she would end up getting sick. I would tell her to feel better and call me if she needed
anything and proceeded to go out with the others. This would lead to fights because she could not
believe I would go without her, even though she would miraculously get sick every single Friday night
an hour before our plans, similar to clockwork.
Lunch is where all of our friends meet to talk about and make plans for the weekend, and I have been

Factors, Causes And Impact Of Administrative Monopoly
Impact of Administrative Monopoly
1. Introduction
Administrative monopoly is the behaviors that organizations use administrative power to restrict
competition. In most circumstances, regional administrative monopoly includes compulsory
administrative transactions, executive branch interference in business operations and abuse of a
dominant company administrative behavior (Schneider, 2009). Administrative monopoly includes;
using illegal means to override the executive division, block market for instance; foreign cars are
restricted to enter the city by legislative region; companies using monopoly privileges conferred by
the Government in order to increase barriers for competitors, reduce service levels, increase products
price, and so on (Guo, Hu, 2004).. The main representations are; to promulgate regulations, circulars

Causes of Administrative Monopoly
The increase of market competition is gradually growing up. However, due to historical reasons the
previous administrative system, official standard mechanisms of power began to seek a new variation.
Therefore, relying on the existing administrative monopoly power is not a very healthy market
mechanism to find new opportunities and operation model (Gottinger, 2013). The combined causes of
administrative monopoly include the following main points:
a. Government and enterprises associated together in a very long time, the government managed
enterprises, and companies also rely on the Government. When there is problem, the companies will
not deal with their own, but with the government which will pass government abuses in certainly
finding a proper excuse. Moreover, during the reformation, the government began to transform its
functions. However, the government authority to redefine the division of permissions and government
departments were unable to accurately grasp the people, which resulted in collision or disconnect
between one another thus resulting to administrative abuse of power (Gottinger,

Examples Of Aphrodite In The Odyssey
Muse, tell me the deeds of golden Aphrodite the Cyprian, who stirs up sweet passion in the gods and
subdues the tribes of mortal men and birds that fly in air and all the many creatures that the dry land
rears, and all that the sea: all these love the deeds of rich crowned Cytherea. (Hom.Hym.5.5)
Aphrodite was beautiful. She was often depicted with flowers and vegetation surrounding her golden
aura, representing her connection with fertility. According to the poet Hesiod, Aphrodite was one of
the twelve Olympians. The literal meaning of her name is foam born, as she was born from the sea
foam that surrounded the immortal flesh, which was the result of the castration of Kronos (Theogony
190). That explains why the Renaissance artist Botticelli depicted her on a giant scallop shell. The
Theogony is just one explanation of her creation, which she was born from Kronos alone, and not
from a sexual union. As a result she is characterized as the goddess of pure love that has its end not
[at] physical satisfaction but [at] spiritual gratification (CCM). In contrast to the Theogyny s
explanation, Homer, who is most famous for the Odyssey and Iliad, tells of her birth as the result of
the relations between Zeus and Dione; thus connecting her as the goddess of sex and procreator of
children, whose concerns are of the body and not of the mind, the spirit or the soul (CCM) . These
different myths of her creation are just the beginning of the many discrepancies throughout her eternal

A Definition of Collaborative vs Cooperative Learning
A Definition of Collaborative vs Cooperative Learning
Ted Panitz (1996)
[pic]
I have been searching for many years for the Holy Grail of interactive learning, a distinction between
collaborative and cooperative learning definitions. I am getting closer to my elusive goal all the time
but I am still not completely satisfied with my perception of the two concepts. I believe my confusion
arises when I look at processes associated with each concept and see some overlap or inter concept
usage. I will make a humble attempt to clarify this question by presenting my definitions and
reviewing those of other authors who have helped clarify my thinking.
Collaboration is a philosophy of interaction and personal lifestyle whereas cooperation is a ... Show

The major difference lies in the fact that cooperative deals exclusively with traditional (canonical)
knowledge while collaborative ties into the social constructivist movement, asserting that both
knowledge and authority of knowledge have changed dramatically in the last century. The result has
been a transition from foundational (cognitive) understanding of knowledge , to a nonfoundational
ground where we understand knowledge to be a social construct and learning a social process (Brufee,
Collaborative learning: Higher Education, Interdependence, and the Authority of Knowledge, 1993).
Rockwood states:
In the ideal collaborative environment, the authority for testing and determining the appropriateness of
the group product rests with, first, the small group, second, the plenary group (the whole class) and
finally (but always understood to be subject to challenge and revision) the requisite knowledge
community (i.e. the discipline: geography, history, biology etc.) The concept of non foundational
knowledge challenges not only the product acquired, but also the process employed in the acquisition
of foundational knowledge.
Most importantly, in cooperative, the authority remains with the instructor, who retains ownership of
the task, which involves either a closed or a closable (that is to say foundational) problem ( the
instructor knows or can predict the answer). In collaborative, the instructor once the task is set

Impulsive buying Exotic animals are often bought for their novelty and the common mistake of
impulsive buyers is that they ride on the novelty factor these animals project. What most people do not

This duration requires dedication and careful attention to the needs of the pet. It is therefore
imperative that long term commitment is a must when owning an exotic pet.

The Censorship Of The Hip Hop Culture
The Oppressive Language Leading to the Degradation of Woman via The Hip Hop Culture Today
There s a powerful source brainwashing young minority women today, specifically the language
expressed in Rap lyrics which is often embraced by the Hip Hop Culture recently. These young gems
are being conditioned to value their worth centered around hollow, vain, and degrading measures. The
lead directors of these measures are strong, empowered, talented men who come across as if they
detest woman. They disclose and describe detail stories of lifestyles involving model chicks who
degrade themselves for acceptance, money, and opportunity. Consequently, this behavior leaves
impressions for young ladies to follow after; because most young ladies of minority tap into the hip
hop culture as a guide for social behavior. Although, the Hip Hop culture allows a window into the
challenges faced by the black community it has also been the lead contributor to the desensitization of
exploitation towards women due to the negative messages and images portrayed in music lyrics and
music videos today. Symbols of Sexuality Gone Wrong Adams and Fuller(2006) define misogyny as
the hatred or disdain of women. It is an ideology that reduces women to objects for men s ownership,

There is a lot of concern about children using technology as TV, video games, and using cell phones to

concern is technology affecting older children in their behavior and physical and mental health. A lot

time a child spend watching television or playing video games. Children 2 years old or younger should
not be expose to any screen time at all. Children that are older than two years old should not spend
more than 2 hours daily on screen time. This time limits are recommended by The American Academy
of Pediatrics (2009, 2010, 2011a, 2011b) and the White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity
(2010). (Funk et al. 2009; Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood 2010). (Technology and

The Theoretical Principles of Person Centre Counselling
The theoretical principles of Person Centred theory and it s application in practice. The work shall
emphasise the significance of the six necessary and sufficient conditions for therapeutic change in
particular, the three core conditions. A critical analysis of the efficacy of the approach will be carried
out with some critical evaluation of the researched arguments for and against the effectiveness of
Person Centred Counselling.
The common conception of human beings sees them as unsocialized, irrational and destructive to
themselves and others. The client centred point of view sees people as basically forward thinking,
rational and social. Antisocial emotions such as hostility and jealousy are not seen as aspects of human

Rogers emphasised six necessary and sufficient conditions of therapeutic personality change.
Rogers(1957) writes: For constructive personality change to occur, it is necessary that these conditions

first who we shall term the client, is in a state on incongruence, being vulnerable or anxious. (3) The
second person whom we shall term the therapist, is congruent or integrated in the relationship. (4) The

Symbolism In The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams Essay
Tennessee Williams , The Glass Menagerie, is a play that evokes great sympathy and in some cases,
empathy for a protagonist who struggles to overcome two opposing forces; his responsibilities and his
desires. There are many symbols and non liner references that contribute to the development of
characterization, dramatic tensions and the narrative. This essay will examine in detail, the aspects of
the play that contribute to the development of the above mentioned elements. In Tom s opening
addresses, he explains to the audience that the play s fifth character is his absent father –present only
in the form of a picture that hangs on the wall. This picture that looms above the dining room table
makes the reader visualize the Wingfield ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as America restlessly experiences peace before World War Two, Tom is anxiously awaiting his
escape to explore the world before him that will leave his family in ruins. Much like his father did.
The fire escape is a prominent part of the setting. It is an important symbol that represents the
imprisonment that Tom feels and the possibility of a way out. Williams characterizes the fire escape
with symbolic weight, saying that the buildings are burning with the implacable fires of human
desperation. Tom makes several addresses to the audience from the fire escape. These addresses are
highlights of the play and would indicate that the fire escape is a critical place in which he confides
and depends on. It also foreshadows his departure from home as the fire escape is what enables his
escape to search for solitude and freedom. At the fire escape, he stands alone between the outside
world that awaits, and his apartment. This alludes to the painful choice he makes in scene seven. In
order to escape, he must escape alone and leave his mother and sister, who are dependent upon him,
behind. Laura s vulnerability and dependence is also emphasized in this symbolic space that is most
closely linked to Tom. Tom will later climb down the fire escape one final time, leaving the apartment
and his family forever. Laura stumbles on the fire escape, and the fall symbolizes her

Tommy Callahan Case Summary
BACKGROUND: Tommy Callahan, a 9 year old male, participated in a voice evaluation on
September 5, 2015 through the services of the Jackson State University Center for Speech Language
Pathology. The evaluation took place during a single session. Tommy was escorted by his mother,
Mrs. Kirsten Callahan. Mrs. Callahan provided the case history information. CASE HISTORY:
Tommy Callahan, a 9 year old male, was referred for a voice evaluation and therapy by Dr. Larry Nix,
an otolaryngologist. He was scheduled for a follow up speech evaluation after a tonsil and
adenoidectomy one year earlier. Nasoendoscopy revealed velopharyngeal incompetency. During
videostroboscopy, bilateral vocal nodules were also identified. The patient s mother reported that he
went from sounding, stopped up all the time, to sounding, almost like a deaf person, but he doesn t act
like his hearing is different. When Dr. Nix explained what causes nodules, Mrs. Callahan noted he has
always sounded hoarse because he was always acting out the latest Marvel Comics or Transformers
movie. INTERVIEW: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Causes Of Prejudice In C. P. Ellis By Terkel
A terrible experience during the eighth grade has caused me to become prejudiced against Koreans,
and believed that they were the most avaricious race of people. Since then this has prompted me to
develop a negative notion towards them. During my middle school years, my parents would give my
brother and I lunch money for school on a daily basis. Every day after class, we would have to walk to
our house which was quite distant from our school. One day, we decided to stop by a store on our way
home because we were dying of thirst. After we selected one drink that we agreed to share and went to
the counter, we realized that we were short five cents. The store owner told us that we could not

If a child is brought up in a family with parents who are openly racist, for example, he or she may
might find that they are influenced into being prejudiced against other races themselves. In the same
way, the story of Ellis relates to this theory described by Parrillo. Ellis father acted as a member of the
Ku Klux Klan. Growing up around his father and being exposed to his negative views and attitudes
towards the blacks eventually instilled in Ellis a natural propensity to be prejudice against them
(Terkel 222).Ellis explicitly states The natural person for me to hate would be black people, because
my father was a member of the Ku Klux Klan (Terkel 224). The socialization process plays an
important role on Guam. Growing up, my siblings and I were taught to show reverence to our elders

myself automatically just amening any elderly whether they are Chamorro or not. In fact, when I see
younger children not practicing this value I tend to consider them being disrespectful, and

researchers believe that during sports players get hit on the head during practices or games and lead to
concussions. Sometimes athletes don t rest after getting a concussion and that leads to serious brain
damage in the future. Athletes are also not getting the right protection they need in sports to keep them

Economic Globalization And The Global Economy
Since the development of the Internet and other communication sharing technology, the push for free
trade agreements, and the sustaining of a prolonged period of international peace, globalization has
rapidly taken over political discourse and dealings. The emphasis, in recent decades, has been towards
economic globalization with the push for international stock exchanges, and the development of the
International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Economic globalization is the development of an interdependent and integrated global economy of
independent nation s economies. It occurs through the development of cross border movement of
technology, capital, labour, services, and products. Economic globalization is a product of neo liberal
capitalist market values. The capitalist global economy has lead to an apparent improved global
market however the burden of the economic nature of globalization has developed into a dilemma of
environmental and ecological destruction. Economic globalization has increased consumption and
consumerism, continued the domination of neo colonialism through eco imperialism, and dictated the
discourse surrounding international environmental protocol and treaties.
Economic globalization has rapidly increased world consumption and consumer patterns. With these
increases comes the development of more landfills to sustain increased waste, increased transportation
of goods and services, and the increased

Factors That Affect The Individual s Sense Of Self Is...
The main point of Baldwin et al. s theoretical analysis was to discover how an individual s sense of
self is affected by many components, including personal experiences. The mental association between
these two factors was proposed because self prospection and close relationships are tied to how
individuals view themselves. We sometimes see ourselves as who we re with, and how they treat us
translates to how we see ourselves. 2. Focus on the first study that Baldwin et al. report (that is, Study
1, not the first research article they cite). What is the hypothesis that is being tested in this study? The
Hypothesis of the first study is, there is an alteration in an individual s self prospection when greeted
with responses, whether it be negative or positive. 3. Summarize the design, the independent variables,
and the dependent variables. When you describe the IV and DV, first tell me what they are at a
psychological level (what are the experimenters trying to manipulate or measure in people s heads?),
and then tell me what they are at the level of concrete operations (what exactly did the experimenters
have participants do in the study what procedure did they use?). The design of the study is completing
three questions, and then getting shown a response. If the response was positive it reinforced the
individual s response to the questions. If the given response was negative, then the individual
reconsidered their past answers. The independent variable of this study

De-Extinction Research Paper
The Ethics of De Extinction
The concept of bringing a species back to life after it has gone extinct has been around for years. The
idea that dinosaurs will roam the earth again has fascinated mankind since the first dinosaur fossils
were first put together. Pop culture has even glorified this idea in a variety of books and movies made
about the topic, such as the famous Jurassic Park trilogy. In science fiction, there are many ideas
people have about brining the extinct back to life. Some of these theories have a grain of truth to it,
but today, the idea of bringing back a species is no longer science fiction, but will likely be possible in
the near future. This process is called De Extinction. The most recent developments in genetic

Scientists in 2009 attempted to clone an extinct species of wild goat, the Pyrenean Ibex, otherwise
known as the bucardo. After many attempts, one surrogate goat mother became pregnant and gave
birth. Unfortunately, the babe died in just moments after birth. However this cloning took place only
seven years after the cloning of dolly the sheep in 2002, the first successfully cloned mammal. Making
the jump from cloning being impossible to nearly reviving a dead species just seven years later shows
proof how quickly this incredible technology is advances. It has now been over a decade since the
cloning of the bucardo, and the technology available now would very likely produce a healthy clone.
The only question now is, should we? Some in favor of de extinction argue for the possible medical
benefits that could be learned by furthering research in this field. Most pharmaceutical drugs are not
made from scratch, but instead derived from natural compounds found in wild plants, or animals.
Innumerable species have gone extinct before science even had to opportunity to attempt to research
them. Bringing species back gives us the unique opportunity to study these species of plants and
animals to learn from

The Warming Of The Climate System
Q 1. How do we Know climate system is warming?
Warming of the climate system is unequivocal. Since 1950 s many of the observed changes are
unprecedented over decades to millennia. The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of
snow and ice have diminished, and sea level has risen. Additionally most of these climate changes are
due to very small variations in Earth s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet
receives. Earth orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the
big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global
scale. This body of data, collected over many years, reveals the signals of a changing climate. The
signal of climate change include rise of sea level, surface temperature rise ,glacier retreats, shrinking
ice sheets, warming of ocean ,declining artic sea ice ,increase in Antarctic sea ice ,increase in extreme
events ,decrease in the amount of snow of snow and ice ,increase in concentration of CHGS.Each
indicator described below has been extensively studied over the past several decades, and was
captured from many different data sets and technologies.

Symbolism In Henry Ossawa Tanner s The Banjo Lesson
Henry Ossawa Tanner s The Banjo Lesson (1893) represents a man and boy sitting in a partially lit
room playing a banjo. The man s gray hair and beard suggest his older age, while the young boy who
accompanies him appears much smaller suggesting he may be around ten years old. The older man sits
in a wooden chair with his feet flat on the floor, while the little boy leans on his left leg. The golden
brown color of the wooden chair contrasts the rest of the image which utilizes darker browns. Only
one leg of the chair remains visible to the viewer. Both the man and the boy are African American.
The bareness of the walls and flooring of the room highlights the two most complex parts of the
image: the man and boy playing a banjo and the white pitcher and blanket atop the counter behind
them.
The two men in The Banjo Lesson sit on a chair in the mid ground of the image. The center of the
image lies where the little boy leans onto the older man s leg. The light in the image shines mainly
upon them, as well. The little boy holds the banjos base in his right hand where he will strum the
strings. He holds the neck of the banjo in his left hand where he will move his fingers to create a
certain sound. The older man in the image also holds the neck of the banjo up gently as if the little boy
needs help holding up the instrument, while his other hand rests on his right leg. The man hovers over
the boy s shoulder and base of the banjo. The man and boys faces appear to almost touch due

Walmart in China
Walmart in China
Introduction
Walmart, founded by Sam Walton in 1962, is the largest retail company in the world. The low cost
strategy and hence the Every Day Low Prices (EDLP) strategy allowed Walmart to outperform
competitors in the US. Besides having stores in the US, Walmart has also expanded its market
worldwide. Walmart s entry into China was not surprising, given its population and growth potential.
Nevertheless, Walmart China had been struggling with its sales volume. It was only ranked twentieth
in sales out of all the Chinese chain stores in 2005. Walmart s strategic move in the US does not seem
to be applicable in the Chinese market. Different factors in the Chinese market blunted the cost
advantage of Walmart. This paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The intensity of rivalry is quite high in the Chinese retailing industry. Not only does Walmart China
have to compete with all the foreign retailers like Carrefour and Tesco, but also with the local ones.
The local retailers pose an even bigger threat to Walmart owing to their well established network and
prime locations. Moreover, exposing to foreign competition allows the local retailers to imitate the
foreigners techniques and hence improve their own supply chain efficiency. Also, the fact that the
local retailers have entrenched customer, supplier and distribution bases, further intensified the rivalry
in the retailing industry. (Farhoomand, 2006)
Lastly, the presence of income disparity in China makes the national merchandising plan more
challenging. China s Gini coefficient of 0.4 suggested that income inequality is at an alarming level.
There are poor individuals that cannot even afford buying daily necessity while the affluent customers
are constantly looking for luxurious products (Farhoomand, 2006). Given this huge income disparity,
Walmart China has been finding it difficult to develop its cost leadership strategy as they cannot
standardize their products easily and have to provide different products that meet different customers
needs.
Strategic Approaches and recommendations
All the factors in the Chinese retailing industry show that the cost leadership strategy adopted in the
US Walmart might not be applicable in China.

Adversity In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
People constantly determine that hardships prepare them for an anomalous triumph and that without
adversity they will not have the strength to excel. However, in trying to achieve adversity people
damage their psychological well being, just like the Tuskegee Airmen who faced racial discrimination
for serving their country. Although this may be true, the Roman poet Horace elucidates that Adversity
has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant . This is
often exemplified in A Raisin in the Sun and through Cristian Mariano Deppeler. To initiate, if it wasn
t for the hardships that adversity exposes people to, then many would not see meaning in their life, and
in some cases, end up putting and end to it. For instance, the story of Cristian Mariano Deppeler, a
social communicator that is known today for his video on YouTube in which he shocked the world and

important aspect of the story by positioning a where and when. Throughout the story, June May

resistance as she ventures through China. The setting perpetuates the theme through the usage of
transportation, the significance of the color gray amongst colors, and June May s transition into a

Literary Analysis Of Rome Fever, And Edith Wharton sRoman...
Roman Fever: W, A New Leaf: L Critical literary analysis can be used in many ways: simply to
understand a story s purpose, the story s characters, and many other aspects to understand a story fully.
Critical literary analysis can also be used to try to determine an opinion between two books and their
value as a story. In the case between Roman Fever written by Edith Wharton and F. Scott Fitzgerald s
A New Leaf , Roman Fever is the superior story between the two. After in depth analysis of both
stories, Roman Fever deserves the higher ranking simply because of its literary elements. Roman
Fever written by Edith Wharton has a more complex plot structure than A New Leaf . The plot
structure in a Roman Fever is more complex because it is not simply chronological. The story does
use a chronological structure to describe how long the two characters have been sitting together, and
to further the story, but there are mentions of the past that divert from the chronological order. These
glimpses into the past from the characters, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley, add artistic unity to the
story, meaning that these flashbacks cannot be removed, otherwise the story would not be
comprehendible. The purpose of Roman Fever is not the plot but the characters and their relationship,
and the change and develop of Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley. This alone rank Roman Fever above A
New Leaf because A New Leaf relies heavily on chronological plot structure and the plot to truly drive
the story. The plot also ties in heavily the stereotype of the pattern of three s. Julia rejects both Dick
and Phil twice before accepting them both on the third time. Many of the analysis questions for A New
Leaf focus on the plot rather than anything else, including two about Phil and Dick and plot, 4. What
causes Julia to reject Dick, twice? What in his behavior causes her rejections, and what in her
character causes them? 5. What is the function of Phil Hoffman in the plot? Why does Julia reject him,
and why does she finally marry him? The characters of Roman Fever are dynamic in a literary way
and are the main focus of the story. If the relationship between the two characters, and the characters
themselves, were not made

The extremely violent nature of the Pullman Strike led by ARU caused the public to protest strikes,
especially against the newcomers who were working in the railway industries (Winston). After the
successful Great Northern Railway strike, the ARU participate in the Pullman Strike, demanding the
rollback of the recently reduced wages (Winston). During the Pullman Strike, the mobs burned and
looted railroad cars (Winston). The strikers were mostly composed of foreign workers since railway
industries provided harsh working conditions, so only new immigrants accepted the jobs (Winston).
Furthermore, the Pullman Palace Car Company hired primarily black strikebreakers, attempting to
initiate racism of the strikers (Winston). Most notably, local presses associated the strikers as
anarchists and communists who came from foreign countries, while highlighting the racist behaviors
of the strikers (Winston). Consequently, American citizens started to associate labor movements as the
actions of foreign communists and anarchists to overthrow their country (Winston). Also, the

Living under Britain s rule, they had little to no freedom. In Speech at the Virginia Convention Henry expresses his view on living under Britain s rule. He encourages American men to fight against the British in order to ensure freedom. Patrick Henry persuades his audience by showing it will be necessary to go to battle through his powerful use of ethos, imagery and rhetorical questions. Patrick Henry establishes credibility by showing that it will be necessary to go to battle through his use of ethos in the text. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country (Henry). This explains that Patrick feels that if he holds back in order to not offend anyone, it ll be like betraying his own country. Moreover, Patrick Henry expresses credibility by stating Guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings (Henry). He reveals that he is guilty of treason towards his country, which shows an act of disloyalty towards God in which he respects more than anyone. Next, Henry uses metaphors throughout the text to convey his credibility. I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience (Henry). This explains that him being experienced is the only reason why he continues to keep fighting and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poem is free verse, with four stanzas of 6, 4, 4 and 9 lines respectively. The poem is riddled with Biblical allusions, with the snake being its focal point, making extensive comment on the nature and consequences of the aforementioned snake. A dominant reading of the poem outlines the duplicity of the nature of evil and sin and related consequences. An alternate reading of the poem conveys the idea of the human progression reflected by post lapsarian linguistics. Finally, a resistant reading attacks the very nature, role and impacts of the Judaeo Christian tradition, claiming it to be fault laden. The primary, dominant, idea being conveyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The end of the poem confirms that without the snake that is modern linguistics, we d have to live with the singular of everything , expressively oppressed by the lack of freedom within dated language systems that existed before the Fall of Man. However, there is possible ambivalence within in poem, as the final word is truth with a capital T , a letter previously sidelined along with its association to dated and useless language systems. This may possibly suggest that there is in fact room for pre lapsarian linguistics, but perhaps only within a Biblical context. A resistant reading of the poem uncovers the idea that religion, specifically the Judeo Christian religious tradition, is intrinsically harmful and retrogressive in nature. If the snake is interpreted as a synecdoche for Judaeo Christian religious tradition as a whole, a profoundly negative opinion of such an ideology is formed throughout the poem. Without the snake that is this religion, there would be no pain and suffering . The poem asks, what could bear such a weight , interrogating the conscience of religion, implying guilt on its behalf. Furthermore, the imagery suggested in the second stanza surrounding the snake s shadow evokes negative ideas concerning the nature of the religion, which is further bolstered by its ability to separate itself from this shadow, and to move on ... Rhetorical Techniques in Richard Wright’s Black Boy Essay Rhetorical Techniques in Richard Wright s Black Boy Richard Wright uses language in his novel, Black Boy, as a source to convey his opinions and ideas. His novel both challenges and defends the claim that language can represent a person and become a peephole into their life and surroundings. Richard Wright uses several rhetorical techniques to convey his own ideas about the uses of language. First, Wright s language and writing style in Black Boy challenge Baldwin s ideas. Wright s mature use of rhetorical strategies in his passage challenged Baldwin s idea that language represents the person speaking, or writing in this case. Wright s language did not represent his parents, his youth, his school, his salary, nor his self esteem. His language merely validified Richard as a gifted, educated man with a talent far beyond his years. Second, similar strategies used to challenge Baldwin s ideas, were also used to defend his ideas. Baldwin stated that language reveals a private identity, and can divorce one from the larger, public, or communal identity. In this sense, Richard s writing did just that. For example, his syntax, full of elongated sentences, gave his words rhythm; a rhythm that created a border between him and his peers. (Hom.Hym.5.5) Aphrodite was beautiful. She was often depicted with flowers and vegetation surrounding her golden aura, representing her connection with fertility. According to the poet Hesiod, Aphrodite was one of the twelve Olympians. The literal meaning of her name is foam born, as she was born from the sea foam that surrounded the immortal flesh, which was the result of the castration of Kronos (Theogony 190). That explains why the Renaissance artist Botticelli depicted her on a giant scallop shell. The Theogony is just one explanation of her creation, which she was born from Kronos alone, and not from a sexual union. As a result she is characterized as the goddess of pure love that has its end not [at] physical satisfaction but [at] spiritual gratification (CCM). In contrast to the Theogyny s explanation, Homer, who is most famous for the Odyssey and Iliad, tells of her birth as the result of the relations between Zeus and Dione; thus connecting her as the goddess of sex and procreator of children, whose concerns are of the body and not of the mind, the spirit or the soul (CCM) . The major difference lies in the fact that cooperative deals exclusively with traditional (canonical) knowledge while collaborative ties into the social constructivist movement, asserting that both knowledge and authority of knowledge have changed dramatically in the last century. The result has been a transition from foundational (cognitive) understanding of knowledge , to a nonfoundational ground where we understand knowledge to be a social construct and learning a social process (Brufee, Collaborative learning: Higher Education, Interdependence, and the Authority of Knowledge, 1993). Rockwood states: In the ideal collaborative environment, the authority for testing and determining the appropriateness of the group product rests with, first, the small group, second, the plenary group (the whole class) and finally (but always understood to be subject to challenge and revision) the requisite knowledge community (i.e. the discipline: geography, history, biology etc.) The concept of non foundational knowledge challenges not only the product acquired, but also the process employed in the acquisition of foundational knowledge. The socialization process plays an important role on Guam. Growing up, my siblings and I were taught to show reverence to our elders by Amening or simply kissing them on the cheek. After continually practicing this deed, I often find myself automatically just amening any elderly whether they are Chamorro or not. Economic Globalization And The Global Economy Since the development of the Internet and other communication sharing technology, the push for free trade agreements, and the sustaining of a prolonged period of international peace, globalization has rapidly taken over political discourse and dealings. The emphasis, in recent decades, has been towards economic globalization with the push for international stock exchanges, and the development of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Economic globalization is the development of an interdependent and integrated global economy of independent nation s economies. It occurs through the development of cross border movement of technology, capital, labour, services, and products. Economic globalization is a product of neo liberal capitalist market values. The capitalist global economy has lead to an apparent improved global market however the burden of the economic nature of globalization has developed into a dilemma of environmental and ecological destruction. Economic globalization has increased consumption and consumerism, continued the domination of neo colonialism through eco imperialism, and dictated the discourse surrounding international environmental protocol and treaties. • 28. Factors That Affect The Individual s Sense Of Self Is... The main point of Baldwin et al. s theoretical analysis was to discover how an individual s sense of self is affected by many components, including personal experiences. The mental association between these two factors was proposed because self prospection and close relationships are tied to how individuals view themselves. We sometimes see ourselves as who we re with, and how they treat us translates to how we see ourselves. 2. Focus on the first study that Baldwin et al. report (that is, Study 1, not the first research article they cite). What is the hypothesis that is being tested in this study? The Hypothesis of the first study is, there is an alteration in an individual s self prospection when greeted with responses, whether it be negative or positive. 3. Summarize the design, the independent variables, and the dependent variables. When you describe the IV and DV, first tell me what they are at a psychological level (what are the experimenters trying to manipulate or measure in people s heads?), and then tell me what they are at the level of concrete operations (what exactly did the experimenters have participants do in the study what procedure did they use?). The design of the study is completing three questions, and then getting shown a response. If the response was positive it reinforced the individual s response to the questions. If the given response was negative, then the individual reconsidered their past answers. The independent variable of this study ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. De-Extinction Research Paper The Ethics of De Extinction The concept of bringing a species back to life after it has gone extinct has been around for years. The idea that dinosaurs will roam the earth again has fascinated mankind since the first dinosaur fossils were first put together. Pop culture has even glorified this idea in a variety of books and movies made about the topic, such as the famous Jurassic Park trilogy. In science fiction, there are many ideas people have about brining the extinct back to life. Some of these theories have a grain of truth to it, but today, the idea of bringing back a species is no longer science fiction, but will likely be possible in the near future. This process is called De Extinction. The most recent developments in genetic extraction, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists in 2009 attempted to clone an extinct species of wild goat, the Pyrenean Ibex, otherwise known as the bucardo. After many attempts, one surrogate goat mother became pregnant and gave birth. Unfortunately, the babe died in just moments after birth. However this cloning took place only seven years after the cloning of dolly the sheep in 2002, the first successfully cloned mammal. Making the jump from cloning being impossible to nearly reviving a dead species just seven years later shows proof how quickly this incredible technology is advances. It has now been over a decade since the cloning of the bucardo, and the technology available now would very likely produce a healthy clone. The only question now is, should we? Some in favor of de extinction argue for the possible medical benefits that could be learned by furthering research in this field. Most pharmaceutical drugs are not made from scratch, but instead derived from natural compounds found in wild plants, or animals. Since 1950 s many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia. The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of snow and ice have diminished, and sea level has risen. Additionally most of these climate changes are due to very small variations in Earth s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives. Earth orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale. This body of data, collected over many years, reveals the signals of a changing climate. The signal of climate change include rise of sea level, surface temperature rise ,glacier retreats, shrinking ice sheets, warming of ocean ,declining artic sea ice ,increase in Antarctic sea ice ,increase in extreme events ,decrease in the amount of snow of snow and ice ,increase in concentration of CHGS.Each indicator described below has been extensively studied over the past several decades, and was captured from many different data sets and technologies. • 32. Symbolism In Henry Ossawa Tanner s The Banjo Lesson Henry Ossawa Tanner s The Banjo Lesson (1893) represents a man and boy sitting in a partially lit room playing a banjo. The man s gray hair and beard suggest his older age, while the young boy who accompanies him appears much smaller suggesting he may be around ten years old. The older man sits in a wooden chair with his feet flat on the floor, while the little boy leans on his left leg. The golden brown color of the wooden chair contrasts the rest of the image which utilizes darker browns. Only one leg of the chair remains visible to the viewer. Both the man and the boy are African American. The bareness of the walls and flooring of the room highlights the two most complex parts of the image: the man and boy playing a banjo and the white pitcher and blanket atop the counter behind them. The two men in The Banjo Lesson sit on a chair in the mid ground of the image. The center of the image lies where the little boy leans onto the older man s leg. The light in the image shines mainly upon them, as well. The little boy holds the banjos base in his right hand where he will strum the strings. He holds the neck of the banjo in his left hand where he will move his fingers to create a certain sound. • 33. Walmart in China Walmart in China Introduction Walmart, founded by Sam Walton in 1962, is the largest retail company in the world. The low cost strategy and hence the Every Day Low Prices (EDLP) strategy allowed Walmart to outperform competitors in the US. Besides having stores in the US, Walmart has also expanded its market worldwide. Walmart s entry into China was not surprising, given its population and growth potential. Nevertheless, Walmart China had been struggling with its sales volume. It was only ranked twentieth in sales out of all the Chinese chain stores in 2005. Walmart s strategic move in the US does not seem to be applicable in the Chinese market. Different factors in the Chinese market blunted the cost advantage of Walmart. This paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The intensity of rivalry is quite high in the Chinese retailing industry. Not only does Walmart China have to compete with all the foreign retailers like Carrefour and Tesco, but also with the local ones. The local retailers pose an even bigger threat to Walmart owing to their well established network and prime locations. Moreover, exposing to foreign competition allows the local retailers to imitate the foreigners techniques and hence improve their own supply chain efficiency. Also, the fact that the local retailers have entrenched customer, supplier and distribution bases, further intensified the rivalry in the retailing industry. (Farhoomand, 2006) Lastly, the presence of income disparity in China makes the national merchandising plan more challenging. China s Gini coefficient of 0.4 suggested that income inequality is at an alarming level. There are poor individuals that cannot even afford buying daily necessity while the affluent customers are constantly looking for luxurious products (Farhoomand, 2006). Given this huge income disparity, Walmart China has been finding it difficult to develop its cost leadership strategy as they cannot standardize their products easily and have to provide different products that meet different customers needs. Adversity In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun People constantly determine that hardships prepare them for an anomalous triumph and that without adversity they will not have the strength to excel. However, in trying to achieve adversity people damage their psychological well being, just like the Tuskegee Airmen who faced racial discrimination for serving their country. Although this may be true, the Roman poet Horace elucidates that Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant . This is often exemplified in A Raisin in the Sun and through Cristian Mariano Deppeler. To initiate, if it wasn t for the hardships that adversity exposes people to, then many would not see meaning in their life, and in some cases, end up putting and end to it. • 37. Literary Analysis Of Rome Fever, And Edith Wharton sRoman... Roman Fever: W, A New Leaf: L Critical literary analysis can be used in many ways: simply to understand a story s purpose, the story s characters, and many other aspects to understand a story fully. Critical literary analysis can also be used to try to determine an opinion between two books and their value as a story. In the case between Roman Fever written by Edith Wharton and F. Scott Fitzgerald s A New Leaf , Roman Fever is the superior story between the two. After in depth analysis of both stories, Roman Fever deserves the higher ranking simply because of its literary elements. Roman Fever written by Edith Wharton has a more complex plot structure than A New Leaf . The plot structure in a Roman Fever is more complex because it is not simply chronological. The story does use a chronological structure to describe how long the two characters have been sitting together, and to further the story, but there are mentions of the past that divert from the chronological order. These glimpses into the past from the characters, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley, add artistic unity to the story, meaning that these flashbacks cannot be removed, otherwise the story would not be comprehendible. The purpose of Roman Fever is not the plot but the characters and their relationship, and the change and develop of Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley. This alone rank Roman Fever above A New Leaf because A New Leaf relies heavily on chronological plot structure and the plot to truly drive the story. The plot also ties in heavily the stereotype of the pattern of three s. Julia rejects both Dick and Phil twice before accepting them both on the third time. Many of the analysis questions for A New Leaf focus on the plot rather than anything else, including two about Phil and Dick and plot, 4. What causes Julia to reject Dick, twice? What in his behavior causes her rejections, and what in her character causes them? 5. What is the function of Phil Hoffman in the plot? Why does Julia reject him, and why does she finally marry him? The characters of Roman Fever are dynamic in a literary way and are the main focus of the story. If the relationship between the two characters, and the characters themselves, were not made ...
