On June 26, 2013, The United States Supreme Court struck down Section 3 of the Defense of
Marriage Act (DOMA), enabling same sex couples legally married under state law to be
recognized for the purpose and benefit of federal law. Section 3 of DOMA previously defined
marriage as the legal union of two persons of the opposite sex. This definition was challenged in
several court cases for violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fifth Amendment. The
Supreme Court ruled in favor of Edith Windsor in U.S. v. Windsor, declaring DOMA Section 3
unconstitutional and allowing same sex couples to be recognized as married for federal purposes.
This opens up several opportunities within federal income tax and estate and gift tax. Some of these
benefits include higher standard deductions and gain exclusion; opportunity to lower tax bracket
through combining incomes; and entitlement to the marital deduction, gift splitting, and portability

isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from six hospitals in Khartoum state Sudan in period from
December 2015 to June 2016. 21.2% of the samples were positive for the blaoxa 48. 36.4.8% of
the samples were resistant to meropenem, and 54.5% were sensitive while 9.1 were intermediately
resistant to meropenem. Among the imipenem resistant organisms 57.1% of them were positive for
the blaoxa 48, 28.6% of the intermediately resistant were positive for the blaoxa 48 and 14.3% of

The Joys of Being a Carpenter
Using machines and being outside are the joys of being a carpenter. Carpentry has always been
a job that I have wanted to pursue. A carpenter has many tasks to do, this job will have things
that may or may not fit me, and I have to have a plan to accomplish all of my goals. Carpenters
work outside most of time, but every now and then they will work inside. They have to be able
to tolerate some less than favorable conditions at times to get the job done. Rain, heat, wind,
cold, and even snow are some of the different types of weather a carpenter might have to work
through. They have to be able to work in small spaces, so they can get certain jobs finished.
Carpenters need to be able to work in many different positions so they can get at things to work on
them. Being a carpenter means that I will need to knowhow to use all kinds of tools. I will have to
use anything from hand tools, to machines, to computers. Hand tools are the widest variety of
tools that carpenters have to use. These hand tools range from using levels, to make sure things
are level to the ground, and tape measures, so I know how long or how tall something is. I need
to also use power saws so I can cut the piece of wood that I need, or a wood chisel so I can shape
something. Carpenters need to be able to use computers, so they can draft a house and see how it

Judicial originality is the most fundamental principle in the legal system. Judicial originality to
me means being able to make a decision based off the effects. If a judge has had a case in the
past similar to a current one, the judge can base his current decision using the same discretion or
rule he used before. Dworkin wrote a paper about this, he argues that judges should not be able to
create laws through the effect of their decisions. He has two arguments about why judicial
originality is not a good thing for society. In this paper I will talk about these arguments and if
Dworkin has the right to claim that this argument has no force against it. The first argument he had
against judicial originality was that a community should be govern by men and women who are
elected by and responsible to the majority. This means that most judges are not elected by a wide
spread of the community, and if they could make their own laws they would not benefit the

On my Google site, I have provided a summative Year 8 Examination for the topic Views and
Perspectives. This examination demonstrates my understanding of the Graduate Descriptor 5.1.1.
The task for EDFD307: Educational Assessment was to design an end of topic or mid year
examination to assess my students achievement of the syllabus outcomes in the unit of work, which
was (Stage 4, Year 8) View and Perspectives. The examination needed to draw upon students work
and experience during the unit. It needed to be based on an assessment plan (a table of
specifications) that clearly demonstrated how the questions, syllabus outcomes and the major
components of the unit were integrated.
The examination was a 60 minutes test with 10 minutes reading time. The first section of the
examination was a creative writing essay and 40 minutes was allocated to complete it. The second
section, which consisted of 11 multiples choice questions, was allocated 20 minutes for completion.
