Honesty In The End
Everything will be okay in the end. If it s not okay, it s not the End. John Lennon The Quote above
says that everything will be fine at the right time or when someone has been fulfil his goals in life.
Like stories in the books or movies it only end when the character resolve all the problems his been
facing all the time. But when the story add another problem it means that the story is not yet been
done and should be continue until it find its way to be done. It also means like whatever happens in
your life, don t give up until you can reach your goal. Don t stop even you fail after all it s not yet the
end. As we grow older there are lot of things happens in our life, there are lot of problem that
challenge us to see how far can we go, how long can we endure it. In this quote tells us that no matter
what happens we should stand still and continue what we started to do. Sometimes we fail but it s not
mean that we should give up it means that it s not yet the end we should stand up and continue what
should we do until we solve every challenges that comes to our life. Honesty is a very expensive gift.

Toni Morrison A Mercy Essay
Toni Morrison s novel, A Mercy, uses multiple point of views in order to show the growth of several
female characters. These characters include: Sorrow, Daughter Jane, Lina, Florens, and Rebekka, who
is also known as the Mistress . Morrison brings up the idea of overcoming male dependence, and
becoming strong independent women. It parallels with the idea of both slavery and freedom, and it
proves how common those concepts were in this New World that Morrison writes about. In all of
history, women have been belittled by men and seen as weak or powerless, but this novel shows the
great length women go in order to find this freedom and to survive in a patriarchal society. With the
many perspectives, it is as though when women are able to find ... Show more content on

Personal Computer Impact
Throughout history, new technology has always had an economic impact, each technology differing in
significance of impact. In some cases this impact may not be as drastic as it appears at first glance, and
in others, it may be more so. The personal computer, first introduced in 1975, has certainly had an
impact on the economy of the developed world in which it is, including the United States. However,
there are those out three who believe that the personal computer has not had as great an impact on
economics in the United States as it would appear at first glance. The personal computer has certainly
affected the economy, but the questions of How much? , and Who remain. When the personal
computer first came onto the scene in the 1970s, many companies tried to jump into the new market.
Some of the names involved are still familiar household names even still today, but some failed in this
new market quickly after joining. One name that is still easily recognizable today is Apple. In 1976,
Apple designed and released the Apple I. However, it wasn t until 1980 that personal computers
became affordable enough that they could be used at home. In that year, Commodore released a
personal computer that only cost consumers $299, which was more affordable to the average
consumer than previous computer prices had been. It is estimated that by the end of 1980, there were
around one million personal computers in use in the US. In 1993, Apple and Microsoft had become
major players in

As the use of technology has increased drastically over the last two decades, so has our need for
technology. Technology has become a part about our everyday life and we can find technology being
used nearly everywhere. Most systems in today s countries and societies rely on technological
infrastructure; these systems include transport systems, factory systems, power plant systems and
water sanitation systems. This brings on the question of to what extent have governments developed
their cyber security departments, what evidence is there of governmental involvement in malware
attacks and why should governments be concerned about cyber security. Since these systems rely

Computer Viruses are increasingly becoming more common, currently 148,000 computers are infected
every day and the World Economic Forum predicts that there is a 10% chance for critical
infrastructure being damaged in the next 5 years . As mentioned earlier most of the critical
infrastructure like power plants and water treatment facilities rely on computer systems, but more

susceptible to attacks by hackers if they are not configured in the correct way. There have been several
examples of systems being compromised. The ICS CERT (Industrial Control Systems Cyber
Emergency Response Team) responded to 198 cyber incidents reported by power plants, water
treatment plants and other critical infrastructure during 2012 . An experiment was conducted at the
Department of Energy s Lab in Ohio in 2007. The aim of the experiment was to prove that it is

The Cultural Clash Of The American Educational System
Immigrants into the United States often perceive education as the principal method for their children
to attain a better life than they have been able to provide for them. The immigrants have dreams and
hopes of their children becoming successful and working in better conditions that they had to endure
in order to survive. However for the children, accomplishing the immense dreams their parents hold
for them can be challenging. While striving to obtain an education, the children face many cultural
clashes because the ideas they learn while in school or the process of attaining the education goes
against many of the cultural or family values they have been raised with. This is an issue that is
iterated in many texts by Latina writers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Latin Deli, Ortiz Cofer employs the use of fictional stories to present the two different
experiences of cultural struggle caused by education.
In the first short story American History , the character puts her education in front of her family, which
created a distance between her and her mother causing a cultural conflict. Her mother wanted her to
mourn and attend a church service with her that night in honor of President Kennedy, who was seen as
a champion for immigrants, but she declined because she had to study for a test. Her education puts a
physical and emotional barrier between her and her mother; as her mother tried to embrace her, her
books were in the way , stopping the embrace in its tracks. Her mother was hurt emotionally by her
words and the physical distance between them that she spat out you are forgetting who you are (page
13). Her mother felt that because she decided to put her education ahead of being with her family that
night, and by creating the emotional and physical barrier, she would be denying a part of who she was.
In the story Advanced Biology Ortiz Cofer again highlights the cultural struggle the main character
undergoes as she attains an education. This time, education was causing her to drift away from her
faith, which was an integral part of her

Stroke Definition
Stroke: A stroke involves loss of brain functions caused by a loss of blood circulation to areas of the
brain.
Causes: Occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or severely reduced,
depriving brain tissue of oxygen and food. Within minutes, brain cells begin to die.
In Ischemic cerebral blood flow is suddenly impaired by a thrombus or embolus.
In Haemorrhagic the rupture of a cerebral blood vessel causes bleeding into the subarachnoid space or
brain tissue.
Types of stroke: Haemorrhagic stroke and Transient ischemic stroke.
Definition of Haemorrhagic stroke: Ruptured blood vessels in the brain
Definition of Transient Ischemic stroke: Blocked blood vessels in the brain

caused by local vessel abnormalities (hypertension, vasculitis, vascular malformation) or systemic
factors (drugs, trauma, tumours and sickle cell anaemia/leukaemia). Haemorrhaging directly damages
brain tissue and raises intracranial pressure giving headaches, vomiting nausea and eventually coma
and death.
Subarachnoid haemorrhage: Gradual collection of blood in the subarachnoid space of the Dura. These
can be traumatic or spontaneous. Spontaneous haemorrhages occur through saccular (berry)
aneurysms and through extensions of intracranial haemorrhaging or due to similar causes.

However there are additional threats and limitations that might affect foreign businesses, particularly
retailers. Especially, taking into consideration a significant role that local government plays in the
Chinese market.
The growing concern for retailers is that the Chinese government is discussing adopting protectionist
regulations in the retail industry. New regulations are showing signs already as the local government
has selected a group of local retailers and is giving them financial support. It is the first stage of
formation of the national champions local retail companies which are expected to become the leaders
of the retail industry. There are many reason why the Chinese government is compelled to undertake
these actions such as the retail industry is expanding at a fast rate and from the local population s
perspective the key industry players that benefit from it the most are foreign companies. This
viewpoint pressurises the government to protect the local retail chains, which are not able to compete
against international retail giants because of the insufficient financial resources. Therefore these
regulations are expected to favour domestic retailers in allocation of strategic locations and have been
highly welcomed by national retailers. Under these circumstances it is of utmost importance for
foreign retailers to re assess their future strategies. As it was mentioned before the

Benefits And Rewards For Employee Benefits
Employee benefits are an essential component of an organization s total rewards strategy.
Today companies design benefits packages that are unique and rewarding in order to attract and retain
talented workers. In fact, employee benefits have evolved significantly over the years. Employee
benefits are no longer just the basics, such as healthcare and retirement plans. Organizations are now
expanding their benefits and rewards offerings to include creative perquisites, such as onsite childcare,
flexible work schedules, and employee game rooms. Employers understand that to gain a competitive
advantage in the war for talent, they must create new and improved rewards for their employees. This

Innovative benefits are the solution to meet employee demands. Innovative benefits are any creative
reward designed to provide employees with a special privilege, financial value, and/or personal
advantage. Innovative benefits include many employee perquisites, such as onsite childcare, paid time
off, employer matched charitable donations, discounted gym memberships, and tuition assistance.
Employees are attracted to organizations that create innovative benefits packages. Organizations are
creating and adopting innovative benefits in order to improve their overall compensation strategies.
Compensation strategy defines how an organization plans to reward its employees for their time and
efforts. An effective compensation strategy enhances (1) talent management, (2) supports an
organization s business objectives, and (3) provides organizations with a return on their investment.
Therefore, in order for innovative benefits to enhance the competitiveness of an organization s overall
compensation strategy, the benefits must align with these three goals. First, innovative benefits plans
can give organizations a competitive advantage in recruiting, developing, and retaining talented
workers. The war for talent in the workforce is becoming more competitive. According to researcher

The Railroad Bride Analysis
Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks simple,
but uses geometry and one point linear perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the
alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color orange and blue in
both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical
balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride.
He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object and the whole object by using
geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same
overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as
opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that
the boat is moving that way as well. The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the
bridge. I believe the focal point is the new bridge for the train and new travels was is focal point in the
picture. The asymmetrical balance of the composition 8 1: Explain way the following mediums

A Short Letter
Drops of blood splattered the floor as I held the edge of the letter that was slick with blood. My fingers
gripped the tip of the feather pen, taking immense care chooses up. It would be a sin to ruin yet

gracefully with the flicker of the candlelight in the library. My eyes drifted towards the stack of books
on the corner of the weathered oak table. One given to me by my grandfather. A respected man at the
time. But now the dust and cobwebs following along the creases of the leather move slightly with the
small drifts of wind. My attention went back to the letter. I read it over, black ink scribbled near the

A tropical cyclone is a force of Mother Nature that in most cases can leave towns and cities extremely
devastated from the destruction. Tropical Cyclones are storms that spin in a clockwise direction and
have low pressure midpoints. In order for a Tropical Cyclone to form there are two main variables, the
earth s revolution and heat. As the ocean reaches at least 27°C, the water then begins to evaporate
creating a storm cloud. The greatest factor being the rotation of the earth, forces the storm to begin
spinning and to move in a forward direction. The centre of the storm is called The Eye ; this is where
it is completely still. There is system in place to categorized using the Australian tropical cyclone
intensity scale.

Fate s Punishment For Athens
Fate s Punishment for Athens The Landmark Thucydides is a history book on the Peloponnesian War
written by an Athenian historian and general named Thucydides. Throughout the book, Thucydides
recounts the war and tells of the many actions of his mother land Athens. In several of his descriptions
Athens could be viewed as arrogant especially towards their accomplishments in war. He also tells of
a terrible crime that Athens commits that could be described as genocide. Thucydides also describes
several simpleminded mistakes that were made that crippled Athens in the end and could have been
prevented with more through thinking. Despite being powerful and dominant on the battlefield the
Athenians suffer crippling defeat in the end. The arrogance, cruelty, and foolishness that Athens
displayed brought fate down on Athens and caused their defeat in the Peloponnesian War. Athens
displayed their arrogance multiple times throughout the war. During a battle at Pylos Sparta attempted
to make peace with Athens through a truce. When offered the truce, Athens rejects it thinking that The
treaty would be ready for them whenever they chose to make it . (Landmark Thucydides. Book 4;
4.21, Pg.425). Athens had the audacity to think that Sparta would just wait for them to decide when
they were done fighting which made them seem obnoxiously proud. Another time where Athens
shows how arrogant they are occurs before the conference with the colony of Melos. Thucydides talks

Tragic Heroism in Shakespeare s Antony And Cleopatra Essay
In the tragedy Antony and Cleopatra , Shakespeare presents our protagonist Mark Antony as a tragic
hero. He does this by using a number of dramatically effective methods, including language, staging
techniques and structure. Aristotle defines a tragic hero as a character of noble stature who has a tragic
flaw (usually hubris which is over confidence/arrogance) and suffers a downfall that is partially their
fault but also due to factors beyond their control. The downfall they suffer exceeds the crime but the
tragic hero gains some sort of self awareness.
Before the audience meets Antony, Shakespeare presents us with two soldiers discussing Antony s
current debauched life. This is dramatically effective staging because they are acting ... Show more

Another soldier calls him the god of Jupiter which elevates Antony s status to that of a great leader,
because Jupiter was the leader amongst all the other gods. Philo compares him to Mars, the god of
war, which shows elevates his stature to be one of equal rank with a god. Caesar recalls Antony s
excellent soldiership and virtus qualities. Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy:
military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of
horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a
soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic
endurance which the audience respects and admires.
The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who
were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a
powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar.
During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s
home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man
who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. This shows us how far
he has fallen in Caesar s eyes as his tone would be scathing and I imagine he would be pacing as he
ranted about Antony

Existence After Physical Death Considered
Existence After Physical Death Considered To address the question, Is human survival of a physical
death an intelligible or defensible theory? in the affirmative, requires postulating that:
1) The definition of human includes the characteristic of a unique soul or spirit associated with each
physical human body and,
2) Miracles, events unexplained by men s physical and natural laws, can occur and,
3) A substance dualist philosophy that the body including the brain is physical matter but the mind
containing our knowledge, memories, and thoughts is not physical matter and unique to each
individual.
Thus it is possible that the soul/spirit, absent the physical matter of the body, could retain its spiritual
existence via a miracle and absent the physical body, after death.
Let us examine each of these premises. The human spirit is defined as 1: the immaterial essence,
animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life, 2: a supernatural being or essence, soul
(Merriam Webster). Allowing the belief that human beings have unique spirits that are immaterial,
survival of physical (material) death is both defensible and intelligible. The human spirit encompass
thoughts, emotions, memories, etc. all immaterial entities which govern the way human beings exist,
in this life and perhaps the afterlife.
In my previous paper (Thompson, On Miracles), I postulated that, since a miracle is an unexplainable
event, according to man s understanding of his world, it

The author shows the atrocious side of capitalism so that way he can promote socialism. He believes
that capitalism takes over individuals lives because the bosses of these facility want to pay the workers

The Jungle s Critical observation proves the main point on how capitalism can affect immigrants and
to take grant of them. At the end of the book Upton Sinclair still has a stance on Socialism, he
advocates socialism which in the end used Jurgis to be a faithful socialist.
The background of Upton Sinclair is very credible due to the help of passing the Meat Inspection Act

Professed painter of the Reformation, Lucas Cranach the Elder created many pieces of artwork during
his career, but his work that sprouted from the end of the Renaissance and beginning of the
Reformation was truly inspiring (Johnson). Judith with the Head of Holofernes, an inspiring oil on
panel by Cranach, impacted society in multiple ways that would remain influential even after his
death. Cranach s work played a critical role in the beginning of the Reformation and pleased the royal
court in Germany during the mid 1500s, which allowed him to rise as an artist and support dangerous

Because of the corruption in the Catholic Church and the Saxon Court s support for such a violent and

seduction, showing more skin in her appearance than other works and even highlighting it with
multiple necklaces and aristocrat clothing that may have been worn in the court, the painting almost
displays Cranach s form of political resistance (Zucker and Harris). The story behind this painting is a
Biblical tale about a strong heroine named Judith, who was known for her bravery and resistance
against the Assyrian troops that come to assume control over her people. In this story, Judith uses her
wit and seduction to ease her way into the Assyrian troops camp and continue with a genius plan to
execute the Assyrian General, Holofernes. She seduces him, and once he is drunk, beheads him in his
own tent, with his own soldiers all around him oblivious (Branch). Judith was able to defeat the enemy
and resist what could have been the end of many Israelites lives. Cranach s choice suggested a
political resistance that required a bravery similar to that of Judith s. Small details in the painting such
as the bodice of the dress and Judith s jewelry show Cranach s love for a decorative surface, as well as

Relationship Rules And Family Rules
Relationship Rules Theory
Interpersonal relationships are an essential part of everyone s life, like many other aspects of life.
Relationships are also bound by rules in order for these to succeed. However these rules vary
depending on the type of relationship a person has. Relationship rules theory is oriented to make
several aspects of relationships more clear. These rules help identify behaviors that can be either
destructive or successful in a relationship. Additionally, Relationship Rules help to single out more
specific reasons as why relationships end and what can be a solution to repair them. There are four
different types of relationship rules and those are friendship rules, romantic rules, family rules and
workplace rules. Each of these relationship rules has different functions and these rules cannot be
broken in order for a relationship to stay healthy.
Friendship Rules Friendship is a word that envelops powerful meanings that everyone should not take
for granted. Those meanings can be trust on others, love, support, care for others, compassion, and/or
loyalty. People give those meanings different levels depending on the type of friends they have and
how worth it those friends are. It is true that friends can be considered part of our own family and they
have to be loved and respected as such. Good friends are people that can be trustworthy and
understand the meaning of the word friendship.

Iliad 21.70 135 (Lykaon supplicates Achilles, Achilles kills him)
Consider Achilles response to supplication in this passage. How does this compare to his attitude in
the extracts from the Iliad in your lecture/tutorial readings?
The cruel rejection by Achilles to the supplication of Lykaon in Book 21 represents a fundamental
transformation in the attitude of Achilles. Achilles has become full of anger and self loathing
following the death of Patroclus. Achilles answers Lykaon s supplication by stating, I reject this
childish plea for mercy, and I will accept no ransom. Until Patroclus died, I often spared suppliants,

Achilles has been tipped over the edge by the blame he feels for failing his responsibilities and
completely loses his grip on reality. Achilles no longer adheres to the moral and social standards that
were previously so important to him in his quest for personal glory. The old values Achilles held are
no longer relevant and he has lost all sense of right versus wrong. Achilles atrocious acts are symbolic
of the war raging inside his mind. In his vengeful slaying of the Trojans he is metaphorically trying to
kill himself over and over again. At this point Achilles is completely obsessed on obtaining revenge by
killing Hector and absolutely nothing will stop him achieving this aim. Achilles is now in a
psychological traumatic state of mind.
Achilles wrath reaches its pinnacle when he kills Hector, as he declares, at last I am avenged! (Graves
1960 22:317). It would now be reasonable to expect that from this moment on Achilles anger would
begin to subside with the relief of his revenge. We would rightfully expect to begin to see the return of
the old Achilles as previously told, but there is no gall in Achilleus heart, he is forgiving (Lattimore
2011 2:240) however this is most certainly not the case. Instead Achilles anger is further and even

more than likely inspired the plot for Anthem, a dystopian fiction. Rand s projection of the
totalitarianism of Anthem s society is astounding, the book itself has feeling and meaning in
correlation to today s world. Anthem depicts a collectivism dictatorship world of the future as in this
world there is no I , these people are forced to follow a strict set of rules, and they are born in bulk,

The characters of the story refer to themselves as we or us forcing them into a bond of conventionality.
In the novella, Rand expresses this fact by using we several times in the first chapter alone, stating
sentences such as We are alone here under the earth...We are twenty one years old. We are six feet
tall... We were born with a curse . In addition, Rand projects the collectivism of this society by
allowing the reader to look into the minds of the main character Prometheus (formerly known as
Equality 7 2521). Rand does this by writing this character in a way that portrays him as yearning to be
an individual. This is proven throughout the novella as Prometheus struggles to find himself and his
ego. Through this evidence, it is clear that Anthem shows a clear perspective on a collectivist
dictatorship world of the future by expressing that in said world, there is no

Was England Torn Apart by Religious Revolution in the...
The short yet significant reign of Edward bought with it a series of severe changes to England and all
those within it, many of them taking a religious nature. As the once unquestionable authority of the
church became challenged by both critics and affiliates alike, England witnessed an almost inevitable
reformation. However, the impact on the majority was not necessarily beneficial as Duffy wrote, the
Reformation bought with it an assault on traditional religion , leaving many men that breathed easier
for the accession of a Catholic queen .
It is possible to perceive that England was torn apart by religious revolution as a consequence of the
public risings in the response to the changes. After their introduction, the country suffered ... Show

Catholic leaders believed they were defending traditional Christian civilization against rebellions and
anarchical forces, whilst the latter argued they were restoring pure religion and defending against
corruption and superstition. To them, the Pope was anti Christ, whilst to the Catholics, Luther, Alvin
and all other reformers were heretics. Consequently, the secular rulers sought to base their political
unity upon that of a religious nature, using their authority to compel their subjects into adopting one
form of Christianity. In contrast to Pope Leo X, who face the Lutheran revolt, who urged secular
leaders to suppress Protestant heretics by force, Luther appealed for this same force to be used against
Catholics, and even Calvin, considered to be an apostle of religious tolerance didn t permit Catholics
to reside in Geneva. Meanwhile, Spain, Portugal and Italy all used methods such as the Inquisition and
the Index to eliminate religious dissent and persecute Protestant subjects. Therefore, this shows that
despite the argument regarding whether England was torn apart , the rest of Europe was considerably
so, which could subsequently have impacted England.
However, religious revolution in England could also be viewed as beneficial, in particular to the
economy. Throughout Europe, Princes and landlords, eager to the receive sources of new wealth,

HIV Came with Harsh Stereotypes and Discrimination for...
During the 1980s and 1990s the new HIV disease began to emerge in society and with it came harsh
stereotypes and discrimination against those who contracted it. Simultaneously, one of the most
talented and influential point guards in basketball was dominating the sport: Earvin Magic Johnson.
Throughout his career Johnson gained three Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards and was admitted
into the Basketball Hall of Fame ( Magic Johnson ). However, on November 7, 1991, Johnson
announced his diagnosis of HIV and his retirement from the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Following this abrupt and unexpected event, Johnson became one of the leading figures in the fight
against AIDS. The Magic Johnson Foundation was founded and is still dedicated to educating
communities about AIDS. The charitable and influential work Johnson contributed to the research of
AIDS revealed him as not just an extraordinary basketball player but also as an extraordinary human
being ( Magic Johnson ). A few years after Johnson s diagnosis, he released his autobiography, My
Life. My Life describes the childhood and competitive basketball years of Johnson as well as his
announcement of contracting HIV. In the article, New and Noteworthy Paperbacks , by Laurel

George S T Shirts Case Analysis Essay
Case Background
George Lassiter makes t shirts for special events such as concerts. The upcoming concert presents
another opportunity for George to make and sell t shirts; however the question is how many t shirts to
produce. There are two fundamental case questions that must be answered:
1. What are the possible financial outcomes if Lassiter orders 5,000 T shirts? 7,500? 10,000?
As shown in the Exhibit, a rather simple but detailed decision tree has been made which represents the
various options for George. The financial outcomes for the three different amounts of t shirts that he
can provide are presented in tabular form, in the Appendix. Table 1 shows profit outcomes for
ordering 5000 shirts, Table 2 shows profit outcomes for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, there is no actual guarantee or scenario where George would earn exactly $26,574; it is simply
the weighted average of profits and their likelihoods, if he had to make this decision a large number of
times. Furthermore, the EMV for Order 10,000 shirts was $26,574; this was quite close to the EMV
for Order 7500 shirts , which was $24,181. Added to this, the payoffs for George from choosing the
different alternatives vary, and there are possibilities for George making a loss. EMV is not a very
accurate measure for George in this scenario and hence, a thorough risk analysis was conducted.
The risk analysis immediately eliminates the Order 15,000 shirts option (as did the EMV criteria)
because there is a 33% chance that George makes a loss with this option. This is a highly risky option,
with a high probability of loss, but at the same time, offers much higher payoffs. Due to George s
conservative nature in the past, we can safely say that he should not consider producing 15,000 t shirts
for the concert.
Having eliminated completely the option for producing 15,000 shirts, the analysis now focuses on the
remaining three options that were available to us at the beginning. With the option of producing
10,000 shirts, the probability of making at least a profit of $6791 is 6%. Similarly, there is also a 6%
probability of making a loss of $3458. On the other end of the spectrum, there is a

Term Structure of Interest Rate
WITH REFERENCE TO THE UK EXPLAIN THE CONCEPT OF THE TERM STRUCTURE OF
INTEREST? WHAT INFLUENCE DOES THE BANK OF ENGLAND HAVE OVER THE TERM
STRUCTURE AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR MONETARY POLICY
To understand the term structure of interest rate we need to elaborate how interest rates function and
how they are determined. Interest rates are a vital tool to all the macro economic policy objectives of a
government such as control of inflation, investment as well as employment. Interest rates refer to the
price paid by deficit agents for borrowing funds from the surplus agents. A line that plots interest rate
at a set point in time is the term structure or yield curve.
Interest rates which may be short term or long term are linked to a ... Show more content on

This particular curve is unusual as it is inverted. The market is anticipating a fall in rates and hence the
shape of the yield curves. The sensitivity of such a curve can be explained taking into account that the
change in the rates reflected is small, 0.24% over the duration of the security, 30 years. This is quite
relevant when speculating on future economic conditions. (www.bankofengland.co.uk)
There are three main theories which relate to yield curves. The pure expectations theory implies that
forward rates are unbiased estimators of future interest rates. This theory states that the term structure
of interest rates reflects the views of the market about the path of future short term interest rates. Thus
when explaining a positive yield curve, the market will be expecting short term interest rates to rise in
the future. The opposite applies when the curve is negative and when flat the markets expect short
term interest rates to remain approximately the same. This theory generally over estimate interest rates
and does not assume that investors are risk averse and want a higher return when investing.
The liquidity preference theory states that bond holders are risk averse and wish to be compensated for
holding the long term security by a liquidity premium. The normal yield curve to explain this should
be up sloping indicating preference for liquidity by investors and lower risk of shorter term

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Film Thank You For Smoking
Thank you for Smoking
Introduction
The film Thank you for Smoking is a dark comedy where the primary protagonist, Nick Naylor is a
lobbyist. He talks for the cigarette industry and will not extra the American Authorities or even the
press. At the in advance, the film prominently tackles all these topics but deep down it also portrays
the partnership between a dad and a son.
Rhetorical and arguments analysis
In a single conversation between a father and a son, Naylor coaches his son Joey by telling him the
beauty of argument: if you argue correctly, you re never wrong . This depicts a framework of Nick s
personality and probably explains the reason why as to the reasons he will not lose quarrels. It is

I think that we are in need of freedom . This shows the fallacy of red herring. In this type of rhetorical
strategy, the emphasis is shifted from the primary concern for an unrelated or tangential concern to
earn a disagreement.
In another debate Naylor uses the red herring fallacy. That is explicated when he s asked to testify
before the senatorial committee. He says Gentlemen, it s called education ... It s the job of each mother
or father to alert their children of all risks in the world, including smokes, so that 1 day when they
grow older they can decide for themselves. Here again, Nick waves from the central subject of
cigarettes compared to that of parental responsibility, freedom and education. He s well aware that
People in america love their freedom and therefore takes on with these words to regulate their
feelings.
Naylor also uses the faulty analogy fallacy in the senatorial committee conference. He compares the
Conglomerated Cigarette s cigarette financing with the financing for the senate s marketing campaign
contributions. The advertisement hominem fallacy is utilized by Naylor when he suggests placing
indicators on certain products like Vermont cheddar cheese, aeroplanes and cars. The red herring
fallacy is again used when Naylor highlights the unwanted effects of Vermont cheddar cheese on
increasing cholesterol levels. Actually, Senator Lothridge must interrupt to recreate Naylor and

Pain control in the older adult is essential to prevent emotional distress. There are several pain
controlling medications that are available, but only a portion of them can be used safely in older

Cholesterol And Its Effects On The Health Of Your Heart
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat like substance that travels through our blood stream in small packages called
Lipoproteins. There are two different types of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol through your body;
low density lipoproteins (LDL), bad cholesterol, and high density lipoproteins (HDL), good
cholesterol. (1) Our body s make all the cholesterol we need, however it is also found in food we eat,
therefore making, maintaining a good cholesterol level difficult for some people. When one talks
about cholesterol most think about the health of your heart, while this is very important, cholesterol
has other important bodily functions as well, such as, hormone production, cell membrane support,
and bile production.
LDL is known as bad cholesterol because it contributes to a thick, hard deposit that can clog arteries
and make them less flexible, known as plaque. If the plaque builds and forms a clot that blocks a
narrowed artery, one could develop a condition called peripheral artery disease, which is when plaque
buildup narrows an artery supplying blood to the legs. One could also be diagnosed with
atherosclerosis, this is a condition that is caused by a clot that blocks a narrowed artery that can result
in a stroke or even a heart attack. (2)
HDL is considered good cholesterol because it helps to remove LDL cholesterol from the arteries.
HDL carries the LDL cholesterol away from the arteries, back to the liver, where it is broken down
and passed through the body. Nearly

Brand Image Attitude and Perceptions towards a Brand during the Course of an Acquisition in the
clothing industry in the UK
Brand is a powerful tool to attract more consumers to buy particular products. In a developed country
like UK, clothing industry is one of the major industries that substantially contribute to the economy.
As consumer s decision making plays a big role in any market, it is vital to study how consumers
make their choices when purchasing clothes to evaluate the impact of any particular brand in the
market, especially due to the availability of various existing varieties and tough competition among
different brands. Not all consumers are loyal to a single brand and many; often switch between

According to Murphy (1998) In addition to a specific brand name, a brand is also composed of
products, packaging, promotion, advertising, as well as its overall presentation. Branding thus is a
means to distinguish one product from another and these differences may be functional, rational, or
tangible related to product performance of the brand (Keller and Kotler, 2006).
2.2 Brand equity
According to Aaker (1991), Kapferer (2004) and Keller (2003), Building strong brands is one of the
most important goals of product and brand management. Strong brands result in higher revenue
streams, both short term and long term . Therefore, the stated goal of strategic brand management is to
build brands that last for decades and can be leveraged in different product categories and markets
Aaker (1996). To understand how branding effects the purchasing decision of consumers, many
theories emerged in which according to Aaker (1991) has framed a model called Brand equity model
and Keller (1993) has identified a model called the customer based brand equity model. Both the
frameworks have profoundly focused on how consumers recognize and appraise brands by studying
certain information structures (Keller, 1993; Aaker, 1991, 1997).

Battle Of Vimy Ridge Research Paper
Pre 1950
The Battle of Vimy Ridge took place in April 1917. This battle was the most intricately planned
operation on the Western front by the Allied troops during World War One. It was led by Canadian
General, Sir Arthur Currie, and was the first time all four Canadian Corps fought together in the war. It
was also the first time Canadian troops, led by a Canadian, shared a total Canadian victory. This battle
was a defining event for Canada, as it was a major step in achieving full independence from the
British. It was important for the growth of Canadian nationalism and pride.
Alberta s Famous Five were a group of accomplished Canadian women involved in the Persons Case
of 1927. At the time, The Constitution stated what requirements had to be met for a person to be
delegated into the Canadian Senate, and other government jobs. For years, it had been a given that by
a person they meant a man. The five women challenged Parliament and asked them whether or not
women were seen as persons. When the case went to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1928, it was
ruled that the Constitution meant persons as in men. However, when the British Privy Council heard
of this decision, they vetoed it, and so ruled that women were indeed persons and eligible to be
appointed to the Senate. In Canada, this was an important step forward for the women s rights
movement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Riordan Manufacturing Supply Chain Design
Riordan Manufacturing Supply Chain Design
Shante Moore
University of Phoenix/OPS 571
Introduction
Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics manufacturer and industry leader in the field of plastic
injection molding with locations in Georgia, Michigan, California, and their most current expansion in
2000 to Hangzhou, China. The plant located in China manufactures fans using a make to stock
operation that uses a forecasting method to determine future demand. A review of their strategic
capacity planning and lean production for their new process design and supply chain process for the
electric fans will address bottleneck and supply chain issues. Also outlined are the details of new
processes and how the benefit the company. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An issue arises when periodic an order for fans against the contracted yearly total is received
randomly and at varying quantities throughout the year. This makes it difficult for the plant to stock
materials required in the short term. Another problem is the company supplying the motors for the
fans. Their on time delivery rate is only 93%. This leads to a bottleneck in manufacturing. A solution
for these problems is to implement an effective ordering system or process. In order to improve the
7% lag time a second motor supplier could be used to fill the gap. There should be a maximum
amount of units per month, and a specified date the units are needed. For custom orders, a specific
date or deadline should be a requirement and included in the contract. Setting these specific guidelines
in the plants ordering system will improve the 7% lag time in deliveries.
Lean Production
When the bottlenecks in a process are exposed there is a strong correlation between a strategic
capacity plan and lean production. When Riordan implements a new process, lean production can be
achieved. More can be accomplished efficiently in less time due to a continuous production flow
(Kotelnikov, V., n.d.). The new ordering system will allow for all products needed to be available just
in time to begin production. Eventually, as a more specialized cross functional

Culture And Sensitivity Of Bacteria
Culture and Sensitivity If your patient has an infection of any kind it s critical to know which
antibiotics will be effective against the particular pathogen or disease causing agent. This means that
the species and strain of bacteria, fungus, or other pathogen must be identified and he drugs that will
be the most effective at clearing up the infection must be determined. The only way this can be done is
by running a culture and sensitivity test. Just keep in mind that there are many different types of
culture medias and hundreds of different sensitivity discs that correlate to different drugs. A negative
test on one of these media plates does not meant that there is nothing there. Which is why a lot of
clinics, like our own, run them in house and also send them to a lab such as Idexx to have them run a
more complete test there. A culture is a specific test to find and identify organisms such as bacteria or
fungus, that can cause an infection. A sensitivity test is a specific test that checks the results of a
culture to see what kind of medicine, commonly antibiotics, that will work best to treat those
organisms. A culture is made when a sample is added to a substance, or Media that promotes the

The immigrants have dreams and hopes of their children becoming successful and working in better conditions that they had to endure in order to survive. However for the children, accomplishing the immense dreams their parents hold for them can be challenging. While striving to obtain an education, the children face many cultural clashes because the ideas they learn while in school or the process of attaining the education goes against many of the cultural or family values they have been raised with. In the first short story American History , the character puts her education in front of her family, which created a distance between her and her mother causing a cultural conflict. Her mother wanted her to mourn and attend a church service with her that night in honor of President Kennedy, who was seen as a champion for immigrants, but she declined because she had to study for a test. Her education puts a physical and emotional barrier between her and her mother; as her mother tried to embrace her, her books were in the way , stopping the embrace in its tracks. Her mother was hurt emotionally by her words and the physical distance between them that she spat out you are forgetting who you are (page 13). Her mother felt that because she decided to put her education ahead of being with her family that night, and by creating the emotional and physical barrier, she would be denying a part of who she was. In the story Advanced Biology Ortiz Cofer again highlights the cultural struggle the main character undergoes as she attains an education. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color orange and blue in both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride. He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object and the whole object by using geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that the boat is moving that way as well. He does this by using a number of dramatically effective methods, including language, staging techniques and structure. Aristotle defines a tragic hero as a character of noble stature who has a tragic flaw (usually hubris which is over confidence/arrogance) and suffers a downfall that is partially their fault but also due to factors beyond their control. The downfall they suffer exceeds the crime but the tragic hero gains some sort of self awareness. Philo compares him to Mars, the god of war, which shows elevates his stature to be one of equal rank with a god. Caesar recalls Antony s excellent soldiership and virtus qualities. Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy: military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic endurance which the audience respects and admires. The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar. During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. Existence After Physical Death Considered Existence After Physical Death Considered To address the question, Is human survival of a physical death an intelligible or defensible theory? in the affirmative, requires postulating that: 1) The definition of human includes the characteristic of a unique soul or spirit associated with each physical human body and, 2) Miracles, events unexplained by men s physical and natural laws, can occur and, 3) A substance dualist philosophy that the body including the brain is physical matter but the mind containing our knowledge, memories, and thoughts is not physical matter and unique to each individual. Thus it is possible that the soul/spirit, absent the physical matter of the body, could retain its spiritual existence via a miracle and absent the physical body, after death. Let us examine each of these premises. The human spirit is defined as 1: the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life, 2: a supernatural being or essence, soul (Merriam Webster). Allowing the belief that human beings have unique spirits that are immaterial, survival of physical (material) death is both defensible and intelligible. The human spirit encompass thoughts, emotions, memories, etc. all immaterial entities which govern the way human beings exist, in this life and perhaps the afterlife. Furthermore, the EMV for Order 10,000 shirts was $26,574; this was quite close to the EMV for Order 7500 shirts , which was $24,181. Added to this, the payoffs for George from choosing the different alternatives vary, and there are possibilities for George making a loss. EMV is not a very accurate measure for George in this scenario and hence, a thorough risk analysis was conducted. The risk analysis immediately eliminates the Order 15,000 shirts option (as did the EMV criteria) because there is a 33% chance that George makes a loss with this option. This is a highly risky option, with a high probability of loss, but at the same time, offers much higher payoffs. Due to George s conservative nature in the past, we can safely say that he should not consider producing 15,000 t shirts for the concert. This is quite relevant when speculating on future economic conditions. (www.bankofengland.co.uk) There are three main theories which relate to yield curves. Thus when explaining a positive yield curve, the market will be expecting short term interest rates to rise in the future. The opposite applies when the curve is negative and when flat the markets expect short term interest rates to remain approximately the same. This theory generally over estimate interest rates and does not assume that investors are risk averse and want a higher return when investing. The liquidity preference theory states that bond holders are risk averse and wish to be compensated for holding the long term security by a liquidity premium. The normal yield curve to explain this should be up sloping indicating preference for liquidity by investors and lower risk of shorter term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this type of rhetorical strategy, the emphasis is shifted from the primary concern for an unrelated or tangential concern to earn a disagreement. In another debate Naylor uses the red herring fallacy. That is explicated when he s asked to testify before the senatorial committee. He says Gentlemen, it s called education ... It s the job of each mother or father to alert their children of all risks in the world, including smokes, so that 1 day when they grow older they can decide for themselves. Here again, Nick waves from the central subject of cigarettes compared to that of parental responsibility, freedom and education. He s well aware that People in america love their freedom and therefore takes on with these words to regulate their feelings. Naylor also uses the faulty analogy fallacy in the senatorial committee conference. He compares the Conglomerated Cigarette s cigarette financing with the financing for the senate s marketing campaign contributions. The advertisement hominem fallacy is utilized by Naylor when he suggests placing indicators on certain products like Vermont cheddar cheese, aeroplanes and cars. LDL is known as bad cholesterol because it contributes to a thick, hard deposit that can clog arteries and make them less flexible, known as plaque. If the plaque builds and forms a clot that blocks a narrowed artery, one could develop a condition called peripheral artery disease, which is when plaque buildup narrows an artery supplying blood to the legs. One could also be diagnosed with atherosclerosis, this is a condition that is caused by a clot that blocks a narrowed artery that can result in a stroke or even a heart attack. This battle was the most intricately planned operation on the Western front by the Allied troops during World War One. It was led by Canadian General, Sir Arthur Currie, and was the first time all four Canadian Corps fought together in the war. It was also the first time Canadian troops, led by a Canadian, shared a total Canadian victory. This battle was a defining event for Canada, as it was a major step in achieving full independence from the British. It was important for the growth of Canadian nationalism and pride. Alberta s Famous Five were a group of accomplished Canadian women involved in the Persons Case of 1927. At the time, The Constitution stated what requirements had to be met for a person to be delegated into the Canadian Senate, and other government jobs. For years, it had been a given that by a person they meant a man. The five women challenged Parliament and asked them whether or not women were seen as persons. When the case went to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1928, it was ruled that the Constitution meant persons as in men. However, when the British Privy Council heard of this decision, they vetoed it, and so ruled that women were indeed persons and eligible to be appointed to the Senate. An issue arises when periodic an order for fans against the contracted yearly total is received randomly and at varying quantities throughout the year. This makes it difficult for the plant to stock materials required in the short term. Another problem is the company supplying the motors for the fans. Their on time delivery rate is only 93%. This leads to a bottleneck in manufacturing. A solution for these problems is to implement an effective ordering system or process. In order to improve the 7% lag time a second motor supplier could be used to fill the gap. There should be a maximum amount of units per month, and a specified date the units are needed. For custom orders, a specific date or deadline should be a requirement and included in the contract. Setting these specific guidelines in the plants ordering system will improve the 7% lag time in deliveries. Lean Production When the bottlenecks in a process are exposed there is a strong correlation between a strategic capacity plan and lean production. When Riordan implements a new process, lean production can be achieved. More can be accomplished efficiently in less time due to a continuous production flow (Kotelnikov, V., n.d.). The new ordering system will allow for all products needed to be available just in time to begin production. Eventually, as a more specialized cross functional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
