Introduction
Switzerland is considered as among the best expat nations in the world due to its very high standards
of living and the fact that it has a multilingual and sophisticated population. This has seen many large
multinational organizations and companies set up base in Switzerland in cities like Zurich. Due to this
expansion strategies by large organizations willingly to expand all over the world, many regional
banks find it necessary to open up offices in various countries such as Switzerland in order to offer
financial services for such companies and businesses that have expanded globally. However, moving
and setting up shop in Switzerland is not as easy as one may think as it can be quite difficult and
stressful if the right procedure is not followed depending on various factors. According to Jordan
(2012), recently, the earlier trend where banks would turn a profit despite the financial situation in
Switzerland has disappeared. This assignment looks at issues that a regional bank may experience
while moving and setting an office in Switzerland.
Challenges faced in Switzerland by financial institutions

For regional banks moving from North America and Europe may not be particularly very
disadvantaged by the Swedish culture. Despite this, they may still find it challenging when they set up
an office in Zurich Switzerland together with other regional banks from other parts of the world.

Essay on Mermaid Swims In
Mermaid Swims In
I am new to the hobby of keeping and maintaining an aquarium. My boyfriend, Andrew, gave me an
aquarium for my birthday two months ago. I was very excited. When I was little, my family had two
goldfish in a small, round bowl. Watching my mother clean out the tank was the extent to which I
knew how to care for fish. The aquarium that Andrew gave me is an Eclipse 6; a six gallon aquarium
equipped with a bio wheel filtration system. The bio wheel system is a three step filtration system: the
water is sucked out of the aquarium into a tube, passed along a carbon filter, and then into a chamber
that houses a bio wheel a small rotating filter that absorbs impurities from the water. Finally, the water
is dropped back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was very hard at first but I finally caught on. The first challenge that I had to overcome was the
intimidation factor that the computer and the Internet caused. I was constantly worried that I would
inadvertently damage a program, or a file, and I was therefore hesitant and apprehensive. I realized
that allowing myself to experiment with things was the only way that I would truly learn to get around
the web.
And the search began. Since I was not familiar with what was available to people on the Internet, I
began playing around while searching for my topic of interest: aquariums. I searched the web by
typing key words in a search engine like Yahoo or Lycos. This took me to several sites on the topic of
fish keeping. I ran across the FAQ s web site called The Aquaria. This site gave me tons of helpful
information regarding the steps I needed to follow to start up and keep a healthy aquarium. I learned
that the gravel should be rinsed thoroughly before going into the tank something I had not done and,
thinking back, how I introduced disaster into my first attempts at setting up a tank. I also learned that
the aquarium needed to run for at least a week without any fish in it so that the many levels of
chemicals in the water could have a chance to stabilize. After looking at several other sites, I finally
felt that I too could keep a healthy aquarium and

Stand By Me Analysis
Don t judge a book by a cover, or in my case, don t judge a movie by when it was made. When I first
watched the movie Stand by me , I was expecting an old hippie style plot and horrible filming and
acting it was made in 1986 after all. However, I was wrong. Even if there had been bad filming, it still
wouldn t have overshadowed the amazing talent of the young actors and the engaging, coming of age
storyline. The movie starts with an older, wiser version of Gordie Lachance (Richard Dreyfuss)
reminiscing of the good times, in particular the summer of 1959, he had with his childhood friend
Chris Chambers. Sparked by the unforeseen death of Chambers, we are entered into a nostalgic
flashback where the quartet of inseparable friends Gordie (Wil Wheaton), Chris (River Phoenix),
Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman) and Vern Tessio (Jerry O Connell) are enjoying their last summer
together before they enter the years of adolescence and middle school. Gordie, Chris and Teddy are

Margaret Sanger s Planned Parenthood
Margaret Sanger s efforts for women s rights lead to the founding of Planned Parenthood in 1916.
Initially she grew up in a large poverty stricken family of eleven, which greatly impacted her stance on
reproductive privileges. Her mother had a total of eighteen pregnancies, seven in which resulted in
miscarriages, dying at age 43. Sanger decided she did not want to suffer the same way her mother did,
so she had a plan. Later on, she went on to be a nurse for women who suffered from pregnancy
symptoms during a time that had little to no medical care for the poor. After a while of doing this,
Sanger saw and heard things that in her mind, needed to be changed. From thereon, she had created a
newspaper that focused on the importance of contraceptives

Beethoven Emotions
1. After listening to the first movement, write down your reaction.
What kind of emotional impact do you think Beethoven was trying to convey with this movement?
In general, Beethoven s music is full of emotions that I can mention. Nevertheless, by listing to the
symphony 5th, it caught my attention by having the strategy of (short, short, long) and even it was
strong and clear but it was also in the background. In fact, my mined can illustrate it in a dramas

powerful as Beethoven want to prove something or to show something to the whole world. ... Show

Scotland Act 1998 Essay
The Parliament of the United Kingdom and the Scottish Parliament are the main sources of law in
Scotland. However, the Scotland Act 1998 and the Human Rights Act 1998 are two pieces of
legislation, produced by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which have had a significant impact
on the development of the law in Scotland. They have made important changes to how law is made in
Scotland and how the Scottish legal system works. This essay aims to examine what it is these Acts
are intended to do, and discuss the impact they have had on the development of law in Scotland.
Until the Acts of Union 1707, which formed the Parliament of Great Britain (the Parliament of the
United Kingdom from 1801), Scotland had a separate Parliament which was able ... Show more

Scottish Parliament may legislate on any matter not reserved to the UK Parliament, including health,
education, the legal system, national heritage, housing, local government, the police and fire services,
environmental affairs, and economic development. The Scotland Act 1998 also provides that the
Scottish Government can change the basic rate of income tax. Previously, before the Scotland Act

may legislate for any issue which is not a reserved matter, and as long as the legislation doesn t
contravene the criteria set out by Section 29(2). This has had an impact on the development of the law
in Scotland as it means that the Scottish Parliament may create legislation, however it also means that
the Scottish Parliament may only make legislation for certain

M3 A1 Lasa2 the Apportionment Problem Essay example
M3_Assignment 1: LASA 2: The Apportionment Problem
Argosy University
General Education Mathematics | MAT109 A05

Abstract
This essay determine how 100 congressional seats should be divided among the 10 states of the union.
The number of seats in a state should (in any fair distribution) be proportional to its ratio in the
population. Therefore rounding according to some (acceptable) rule should be applied.
Below you will see the table showing the Hamilton method of apportionment to determine the number
of seats each state would receive.
Hamilton Method (Named for Alexander Hamilton) Implementing this method is a three step
procedure.
1) Calculate each state s representation and round each one down.
2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Huntington Hill Method is a modified version of the Webster method, but it uses a slightly
different rounding method. While Webster s method rounds at 0.5, the Huntington Hill method rounds
at the geometric mean. If a state s quotient is higher than its geometric mean, it will be allocated an
additional seat. This method will almost always result in the desired number of seats which helps to
avoid an Alabama Paradox.
Apportionment can achieve both a fair and unfair representation giving the research I have done on
this assignment. It also depends on the apportionment method in which is used that also plays a factor
in your results.
For optimal fairness measures I believe that the Huntington Hill method displays the most fairness.
Giving the example that ai and Pi are the number of seats for state i and its population, respectively.
Then I would look at the measurements by the given fairness formula.
For the measure |ai aj(Pi/Pj)| Adams method is optimal.
For the measure |Pj/aj Pi/ai| Dean s method is optimal.
For the measure |(ai/aj)(Pi/Pj) 1| Huntington Hill is optimal.
For the measure |ai/Pi aj/Pj| Webster is optimal.
For the measure |ai(Pj/Pi) aj| Jefferson s method is optimal.
As you can see, it might not be obvious that these seemingly similar measures of absolute fairness
would give rise to such different methods to

My False Memory Test
In taking the memory demonstration test I scored a hit rate of 87%. My false alarm rate was at 0% and
my false memory rate was at 0% as well. I found the most suprising part of the test to be the
comparison of my false memory rate to the average rates listed. During the test I quickly realized that
any questions asked would more than likely be about the images follwing the words than any item s
size related to a shoebox. I believe this may have given me a slight advantage in the scoring. With
average scores of false memories being at 27%, answering the question, whether to allow eywitness
testimony in a court or not, becomes rather difficult. If more training were introduced, to teach our law
enforcement about these memory problems, I think

Analysis Of Ellen Degeneres s The Puppy Episode
Ellen DeGeneres got almost destroyed after her coming out to the public during her career peak. In
1994, DeGeneres reached her height of popularity as an actress with her self titled television sitcom,
Ellen, which was originally titled These Friends of Mine. This ABC show was popular in its first few
seasons due to DeGeneres s style of observational humor.
Following DeGeneres came out as a lesbian on The Oprah Winfrey Show in February 1997, her
character in Ellen became the first lead in sitcom history to openly acknowledge her homosexuality on
air. The coming out episode, titled The Puppy Episode , was one of the highest rated episode of any
show on the network during that time ( Ellen DeGeneres Biography ).
However, the show faces stronger criticism and was forced to end. An ABC affiliate in Birmingham,
Alabama, refused to air the landmark episode. Fearing controversy, some of the show s sponsors,
Daimler Chrysler among them, withdrew advertisements ( Ellen DeGeneres Biography ). Even though
ABC made no comment other than to confirm the cancellation officially, It was believed that The Walt
Disney Company, ABC s parent owner, had become uncomfortable with the subject matter depicted
on the show now that DeGeneres character was openly gay (Carter). Despite a supportive audience, an
Emmy Award for the coming out episode and the show s groundbreaking place in television history,
Ellen was canceled in 1998.
The specter of earlier intolerance cast a long shadow

Exodus 20 Research Paper
Christians live their life by the word of God. They take the Bible and the contents within and hold the
contents as the guidelines by which they live their lives. The Bible, in Exodus 20, gives Christians the
Ten Commandments. Christians take the Ten Commandments and make those the foundation by
which they live their lives. The verses within Exodus 20 give Christians commands on how to live
their lives but, Exodus 20 is not the only chapter in the Bible that gives Christians commands that they
must follow. Later in the Bible, in Leviticus 20:27, the Bible says, A man or woman who is a medium
or spiritist among you must be put to death (Holy Bible). What this verse is saying is that anyone
involved in magic must be put to death. But does that truly mean anyone? The story of Harry Potter is
centered around magic which naturally fuels Christian opposition towards it, but underneath the magic
the story shares similar morals and guidelines that Christians align themselves with. This verse among
others has been the driving force of Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was Professor Dumbledore implying by this? Professor Dumbledore was passing on his

type of immortality within the series because of the talking portraits or ghosts. What does the Bible
have to say about this? Well in 1 John 2:17 it says, The world and its desires pass away, but whoever
does the will of God lives forever (Holy Bible). Obviously no one lives on forever physically, so is
this verse implying that there is life after death spiritually? Christians would say yes to that question.
So the theme of spiritual immortality in the Harry Potter series isn t too far fetched then is it? The
answer is no. There is not even a debate about

Child Development Theories
Child Development: An Examination of Three Theories There are a lot of theories regarding child
development. Three of these theories are Bioecological Theory, Social Cognitive Theory and
Information Processing Theory. This paper will discuss these theories by comparing and contrasting
them. The first theory is the Bioecological Theory developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner. This theory is
based on the nature vs. nurture idea. Bronfenbrenner believed development of a child was determined
by the relationships among the environment or environmental systems around them. Within this
environment there are five distinct systems which are related to a child s relationship with the school
environment, family environment and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the inclusion of these three theories among others, into the mental health care field one can see
the similarities of these theories. All three of these theories deal with the environment of a child, the
learning process by which the child was exposed, the development of the cognitive ability of the child
and by the social development of the child. All three theories believe the environment plays an
important part in the cognitive development of children. They each believe it has an impact on how
the child learns and develops. They all agree when there is a disruption of the process such as the child
being subjected to mental or physical neglect or abuse the child can grow to be developmentally
challenged or develop a mental illness as a result. What may be harder to determine is the differences
in these three theories. The outcome of each would seem to be the same. Each theory is based on
cognitive development and the relationship the environment has on that development. What we may
need to look at is how these three theories seem to think this development is attained. With
Brofenbrenner s theory of Bioecological development, he believed a child goes through five distinct
systems and learns their cognitive ability within each system while being exposed to the environment
which

Catholicism And Feminism
The Intersection of Catholicism and Feminism: A Confusion of Identities
I have never agreed with my other self wholly. The truth of the matter seems to lie between us. ―

righteously democratic feminist who goes to mass every Sunday to receive the holy communion and
listen to the priest s sermon that gives answers to the question what would Jesus do? every time. When

Catholicism s attack on women s healthcare has the greatest effect on poor women who do not have
the means to pay out of pocket for private insurance and doctors. It is essential to be mindful of how
our actions have ramifications beyond ourselves and are shaped by our privilege. Our actions have
consequences. As a woman of privilege in relation to other women in this world, my actions will
naturally have the tendency to support systems of oppression that intersect with feminism and hurt
women of color, poor women, and transgender women. I have the responsibility as a feminist to have
the self awareness of the effects of my privilege and the effects of my actions, and use my privilege to
help other women, not hurt them. I have the duty to work toward the collective liberation of all
women, and that starts with not participating in their oppression. Therefore, while I have decided to re
include Catholicism in my identity, I cannot ethically participate in the Church as a feminist. I may
call myself a Catholic feminist, but I choose not to donate money to the Church or participate in the
Church s social activism. My actions matter just as much as my beliefs, and even though I am not
personally very effected by the Church s anti feminist activism, I choose not to participate in a system

Noteworthy Technology Essay
Noteworthy Technology
Few things possess the power of music. Good music has the capacity to convey messages, evoke
emotion and inspire awe. Yet, not many posses the means to acquire the power of music. Writing
music by hand can be time consuming, inaccurate, and it does not allow the composer to actually hear
the annotated music. Furthermore, learning an instrument can be time consuming and frustrating if all
a person wants to do is compose their own music. This is where the beauty of technology comes in.
Through a system known as MIDI, or Musical Instrumental Digital Interface, and musical notation
computer software, composers are able to input their music into a computer and have the means to

However, The MIDI data transmission rate is different from computer data rates, so MIDI interfaces
are designed to allow the computers to transfer information at MIDI s speed. Computer software is
able to record, store, replay, and edit MIDI data into songs. New composition software also possesses
editing capabilities as well as intricate synchronization methods (MIDI).
MIDI technology is significant because it has revolutionized music composition by making it faster
and less expensive for professional composers, amateur composers, and music students alike (Webster
pars 4). MIDI technology and music annotation software make it extraordinarily easy for anyone to
plunk out a melody on the piano or input notes into a computer by pointing and clicking with a mouse,
and instantly hear their creation. This tool can be particularly useful for composers writing music for
wind band or orchestra, where there are many different instruments that sound at the same time and it
can be difficult to conceptualize the desired effect (Webster pars 9). Without MIDI technology,
composers would have to wait to hear their compositions until they could hire a group of musicians to
perform the piece. In addition, features such as cut and paste and transposition tools save composers
precious time as they easily copy certain musical ideas and transpose them into different keys for
different instruments (Webster pars 15). Music

Analysis Of Sweetness By Toni Morrison
In an effort to explain the impact of colorism in black communities, Rita B. Dandridge once stated, In
African American culture, class bias is the handmaiden of intraracial prejudice that privileges the near
white or light complexioned person over the darker hued. These privileges include more desirable
jobs, houses in more prestigious neighborhoods, and better educational opportunities based on one
having a lighter skin complexion. Since whites have more privileges in society simply based on the
color of their skin, it is common for blacks to want to be white or be able to at least pass as white. In

seeing what her mother went through for accepting her blackness and living her life as a black woman,

Pros And Cons Of Cyber Warfare
3.1 Cyber Warfare
Richard A. Clark, an expert in security sector governance in his book Cyber War (May 2010), defines
Cyber War as an act of penetration of a country against other computer network with the intent of
causing damage and disruption. The Economist magazine explained that cyber war is the fifth domain
of warfare, after land, sea, air and space. Cyber warfare, (also known as cyber war and Cyber
warfare), is a war with the use of computer networks and the Internet in cyberspace (cyber space) in
the form of defense and attack information. Cyber warfare is also known as cyber warfare refers to the
use of the World Wide Web and computer to conduct warfare in cyberspace. Although sometimes
relatively minimal and lightweight, so far cyber warfare could potentially cause a serious loss of data
and information systems, military activity and other service disruptions, cyber warfare means can pose

Essay On Christianity In America
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it
stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. These are the words that are
said every day by students from elementary school to high school. These words are unfair to a large
part of America, or the non Christians. Some people claim that this is a Christian nation, however
Christianity is not the official religion in America, even though it may be the most popular. Although
71% of America is Christian, the other 29% is forced to pledge to things they don t believe in. Most
Christians today don t go to church or pray at all. They are just Christian because that is what they
were taught as being acceptable while growing up. Christians may rule America, but there is no
ignoring the many people who find this statement offensive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Would you force belief upon a child? Hopefully not. In the schools, kids with a different belief system
are forced to pledge to this, just to honor their country. These kids are bullied by students and even
teachers. Take Nicole Smalkowski for example. She was a girl on a few different Oklahoma sports
teams in her school. After a game they joined in a circle of prayer. She, being an atheist refused to
pray in something she didn t believe in. She, unlike others, stood out for what she believed in. She was
bullied mercilessly by students and teachers. One of her teachers claimed that this was a Christian
nation, and if she didn t like it she could get out. There is a video of her online reciting the Pledge of
Allegiance without the phrase under God. A student then comes up to her and tells her that God
forgave her. To add insult to injury she was kicked off all the teams she was part of and out of the
school because of differing beliefs. Nicole filed a lawsuit and won, claiming the school was making

A Common Critique Of Disabilities Ministry
In Madeline Burghardt s article, she describes a common critique of L Arche by disability scholars.
Namely, that L arche does not sufficiently address broader policy and human rights concerns
(Burghardt, XXVIII). Instead of taking a stake in political systems, L Arche emphasizes changing the
world through small things with extraordinary love, mutual relationships, and interdependence. On the
one hand, L Arche never claimed to be a site of activism in the typical way. Yet, now that they have
grown in prominence, is this a responsibility that comes with their visibility? Expanding this idea out
practically to churches and religious communities, I have seen churches who do have a disabilities
ministry be content with developing relationships.

International Crime And Jurisdiction In The United States
Jurisdiction is the most prominent issue for enforcement officers to deal with international crimes
stemming from the deep web. There are illegal markets for gambling, weapons, explosives,
assassinations, exotic animals, terrorism and hacktivism all of which can be accessed by anyone in the
world if they knew the right ways to get in. The darknet has an international customer base, and cases
can get even more complicated when criminals from different countries start to work together.
Questions of which country s law should be followed and what punishment should be given arise, and
not all parties involved end up satisfied. While it is impossible to please everyone with a trial and
punishment, having an international court disfuses any issue concerning jurisdiction in order to deal
with the criminal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One could argue that the International Criminal Court already exists, and there is no need for another
one. However, the International Criminal Court follows The Rome Statute for jurisdiction which only
allows action to be taken for crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of
aggression. Though there are some crimes committed through the darknet that can fall under this, such
as terrorism, the majority of them do not. This does not mean these crimes are any less

A Dead Man Is Good For Nothing

Argumentative Essay
A Dead Man is Good for Nothing In 1995 Duane Buck was convicted for the murder of his former
girlfriend Debra Gardner and her friend Kenneth Butler. He was sentenced to death in 1997 and his
case should definitely not be taken lightly, but Buck was given the death penalty over life in prison
because of the fact that he was an African American. A state psychologist in his case, Dr. Quijano,
argued that African American criminals are more susceptible to pose a future danger to the public, and
this was the key testimony that the prosecutor relied on. Since then, his case has not been reopened. It
was later admitted by a district attorney at the time of Buck s case that African American jurors were
routinely dismissed by prosecutors. In 2011, his lawyer argued that he deserved a new sentencing
hearing without tainted prejudicial testimony, but his request was ultimately denied and they
continued with the set execution date. The death penalty is prejudice and goes against all religious
beliefs, but death overall is a cruel and unusual punishment and should not be used as a form of
punishment by the government. Despite the fact that African Americans make up to just over thirteen
percent of the nation s population, more than forty percent of those currently on the federal death row
are African American. Many may say or believe that the justice system is fair or honorable but the
truth is that the

Lyme Disease Is A Disease
Lyme Disease Lyme s disease is a disease that is transmitted to humans when an infected tick bites the
human s skin. According to Lymedisease.org, Symptoms of early Lyme disease may present as a flu
like illness (fever, chills, sweats, muscle aches, fatigue, nausea and joint pain). Some patients have a
rash or Bell s palsy (facial drooping). However, although a rash shaped like a bull s eye is considered
characteristic of Lyme disease, many people develop a different kind of Lyme rash or none at all.
Lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose because its symptoms mimic so many other disorders,
especially if a rash is not present. Lymedisease.org, also reports that only 42% of cases had a rash .
Furthermore, lymedisease.org goes on to report that, Many Lyme symptoms, such as fatigue, cognitive
impairment, joint pain, poor sleep, mood problems, muscle pain, and neurological presentations also
occur in other diseases. Hence, the symptoms of Lyme disease significantly overlap those of chronic
fatigue, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson s disease, ALS, depression
and Alzheimer s disease. Many Lyme patients report being misdiagnosed with a different condition
before being properly diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lyme disease can affect nearly all of our body s
functions in one way or another. According to Lyme expert Dr. Lee Cowden, Typically, the

The Impact of Acronyms Use in Facebook on Language
Based on the observations and results that I gathered for 2 weeks, I found out that most of my
participant who uses Facebook daily uses acronym to update their status, provide feedback or
comment, chatting with other users, to give out information or to post personal details through
Facebook. For my research, I found out 5 most common acronyms used by my participants which are
BT, FYI, TQ, BTW, and FB. When asked about this, my sample gives out different opinion and reason
on why they tend to use this acronym when using Facebook.
In my view, they use acronym to shorten the sentence when they update their status in Facebook via
Facebook mobile as well as to reduce the time taken to type the full sentence. When asked about
whether using acronym limited the use and application of languages, they did not think about it at all.
For example, Mr. K from Evidence 4 stated that he does not care about language when he update his
status or chat with his friend in Facebook. For him, he only cares about using correct form of language
when he was in a formal environment, as an example, speaking to his English lecturer.
Moving on, from the findings or results that I have gathered, I place my focus on only 5 acronyms in
order to narrow my observation. However, I will discuss the 5 acronyms more in the view of semantic.
Semantically, all five acronyms mentioned in my research have different meaning. As I set my

Poverty Causes Of Poverty
Madagascar is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It has such a diverse selection of flora
and fauna. The country is known for housing many species of animals that other countries do not.
Madagascar has over 200,000 different species of mammals, amphibians, reptiles, etc ( Madagascar
Wildlife for Kids ). Their landscapes are absolutely breathtaking, with gorgeous sunsets in the
springtime to tie in the beauty. But, then you move along to the towns of Madagascar, and these are
the most devastating of all. With Madagascar suffering heavily from poverty, their lifestyle is tragic.
Their living conditions are poor, healthcare is almost non existent, jobs are limited, and education is
deteriorating. The way in which these people live is truly heartbreaking to see. Madagascar is in major
poverty for a number of reasons. One reason the country suffers is because of the past Kleptocratic
Rule it endured, which affected its money situation greatly. The previous French Dictator, Didier
Ratsiraka, and other workers of the government stole excessive amounts of money from the Aid and
Development of Madagascar Fund. This kind of corruption caused friction when the country tried to
invest and trade with other countries( Why is Madagascar so Poor? ). A poorly organized government
can lead to a poorly organized country, which is another reason why Madagascar suffers. There are
only about 5,780 kilometers of paved roads out of the 49,827 kilometers of marked roads the country
has. The road conditions, as one can imagine, are dreadful. Cyclones and other types of annual storms
are to blame for this. But, to help build and repair roads, the past President, Marc Ravalomanana,
helped to repair the damaged infrastructure the country holds. Furthermore, the Madagascar has a very
small population of about twenty four million people, meaning that there is not a lot of money being
funneled into the government, which can be a leading problem in lack of infrastructure. Lastly, due to
the country s shortcomings in the economy, no other country really wants to develop, transport, or sell
goods there, which is a problem when it comes to the citizens buying goods. This can also send
market prices soaring, if some items

Social Ineptitudes In Catcher In The Rye
Literature is a powerful tool that allows readers to gain perspectives and to experience firsthand the
thoughts and emotions of characters in any work. Often, it is through these works that a person can
learn a great deal towards becoming a better member of society. However, despite Holden s affinity
for the subject of English and his ability to perceive the nuances of some of the characters from books
he has read, Holden still seems unable to learn from the experiences of these characters. Most
tragically though, it is the characters with whom he tends to associate more and with whom he feels
more of a connection that demonstrate his social ineptitudes, because these characters are in such
similar situations to him. These characters are dealing with common social issues like sexuality,
emotionality, and alienation issues that Holden experiences time and time again yet he does not learn
from the struggles these characters are experiencing, and thus is incapable of applying them to his own
life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Theory Of Progress And Its Components
The optimism of some human s nature has brought forth interpretations such as the progress theory to
reflect it. Looking back on the world and prescribing that it was a primitive existence compared to the
present is an interpretation that has held some ground until the face of adversary reveals itself. The
progress of human history near the common day is not a straight linear progression that hits abstract
checkmarks of movements and revolutions, but it is a more complex study. Historians such as J.B.
Bury, Herbert Butterfield, and John Lukacs talk about the theory of progress and how it manifests in
historical writings. The scientists, C.P Snow wrote in the Two Cultures a framework of mind of the
significant revolutions in science. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ability to look at the past and its developments is invaluable to see the developments play out and
see how progress is a limited ideal. The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the people of
the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time periods and
movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but times in their own
right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience that allows the historian,
student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also draws lines where causes and
effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research into the old story even when the
research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is an effect of the convenience and
discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is also held to a standard that keeps the
present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying the past it is desirable to see one s time as
superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of progress, but this is not so when the direction that
follows is not a desired one such as Snow s description of the sciences where if the scientists have the
future in their bones, then the traditional culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. This is
common since We live forward, but we can only think backward , but

The Impact Of Internet Legislation On The Internet
The goal of the legislation was to improve the access of the internet and to allow the consumers to
receive equal access to all internet sites no matter what provider they are using. This allows people to
select the applications or sites they wish to get their information, giving them a freedom not many
have. As shown before these companies have been fined and reprimanded for breaking the law,
however this brings forth a probe to see if this policy been successful in creating an equal internet for
the consumer. According to CBS NL it states that the dutch legislation raised the over population of
84% avidly use the internet in 2012 versus the 78% of people in 2005. The statistics presented by the
Central Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) show that as the internet evolved people became more
dependent on the internet leading to an expansion of people using the internet (CBS 2012).
Additionally, the Netherlands holds the highest percentage of internet users than in most developed
countries in Europe (CBS). However, as we see that more people in the Netherlands use the internet
ISPs also introduced a raise in prices to help with the lost revenue the law created. Although
consumers were being charged more many advocates still see it as a victory by stopping ISPs from
raising the prices significantly higher than the are now creating a consensus between the ISPs and its
consumers.

The Prohibition Of The Second Amendment
Gun control is one of the most debated about topic today in America; between news outlet, the public,
and politicians. As some politicians look to resolve the gun control issues, with banning them,
imposing more restriction to sellers, buyers and owner; some people and politicians consider the
second amendment to be relic and should be removed from the constitution. History has shown us
time and time again even through all the violence and chaos in the world and America, that there is a
reason for the creation of the second amendment. From history of America independence in 1776 to
the ratification of the bill of right in 1791 the 2nd amendment still remains relevant form it creation, to
modern times, and the protection of America s future; for the freedom of its inhabitants and citizens.
The once influential 20th century thinker George Santayana once said, Those who cannot remember
the past are condemned to repeat it . Looking back into ancient history, the history of second
amendment, recent and current history we can find clues that will support the relevance of the 2nd
amendment. We will also define the second amendment and try to find solutions to our current
problems from what our forefathers had say. The United States of America, only 240 years old; still
one of the youngest nations to come to power, still has a thing or two to learn from ancient history.
Rome, an empire for more than 500yrs, had similar belief some American politicians of disarming the

In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have
experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory, application,
and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to students and those
not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a paper which will be
useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore, in this paper we
discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and differences between
different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach.
Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and
thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first
qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be
useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003:
347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative analysis.2
For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to use across
different methods. Similarly, Ryan and Bernard (2000) locate thematic coding as a process performed
within „major‟ analytic traditions (such as grounded theory), rather than a

The Role Of Armies In The Kargil War
The Kargil war was a conflict between India and Pakistan. The two countries Armies were greatly
involved in this conflict, with Pakistan having a bigger role to play in the war. It is important to note
that Pakistan begun preparing for this war as early as February 1999 by selecting, training and
deploying troops into the Kargil region. It is also imperative to understand the main intention behind
all these preparations. The main aims of this grand plan were to isolate Siachen, to cause disruptions at
several places in the main road connecting Leh and Srinagar, and to interrupt NH 1A. All these were
meant to set the stage for attacking the valley through military and terrorist actions with the main
objective of executing their main agenda dubbed Op Topac which was to gain control over Kashmir
valley.
As discussed by Raghavan Shorey (2002), the Pakistani troops could not approach the valley directly
by taking the routes through either Kupwara or Baramulla because of the presence of heavy snow and
Indian troops. Therefore, the country s army opted for the Kargil sector as the main route through
which they could pursue their plan. Pakistan s success in this battle would mean that the country
would gain confidence and prepare itself to launch the final attack against its enemy and liberate
Kashmir. Moreover, if the country managed to seize Kashmir Valley, it would put them in a better
position to avenge its shameful defeat in the 1971 conflict.

Charles Dickens The Prison System
Charles Dickens visited the United States in 1842, were he witnessed solitary confinement in Eastern
State Penitentiary just outside Philadelphia. Dickens viewpoints on the prison system in America is
that he persuaded that those who devised this system of Prison Discipline, and those who benevolent
gentlemen who carry execution, do no know what it is that they are doing . The lets the audience know
what Dickens believes to be the negative part of the Prison Discipline. Dickens states that not many
men are capable of enduring long period of agony and torture. The prison system to Dickens led him
to be convinced that There is a depth of terrible endurance in it which none but the sufferers
themselves can fathom, and which no man has the right to inflict upon his fellow creatures . This lets
us conclude that Dickens s assessment toward the Prisons has a more negative aspect. To support his
claims of why the prisons have a negative aspect is seen through the numerous prisoners, he visited
during his tour of the American prisons. He included an individual who was about to be released after
two years in solitary confinement. Dickens reaction toward the man was that he felt his Heart bled for
him; and when the tears rolled down his checks...to ask, with his trembling hands nervously
clutching...whether there was hope of his dismal sentence being commuted, the spectacle was really
too painful to witness . Dickens states that I hold this slow and daily tampering with the mysteries

It could be the littlest success such as making a pancake, but it can have so much impact on a persons

forensic anthropologists Dr. Doe and Dr. Smith from Oklahoma University, to identify one of these
sets of remains. We were given the humerus, femur, cranium, mandible, and pelvis of the body to
measure and examine to determine sex, ethnic origin, age, and height. Our findings have led to us
believe the victim was male due to the sub pubic angle being 90 degrees, lying distinctly in the male

This technique involves science and art as it guesses on how the soft tissues may have fitted on the

because, simply put, it is the observation of the bones. Bone analysis permits the collecting of past
injuries to the bone such as a broken femur or a fracture to the occipital region of the skull that could
be used to slim down the search among missing persons. Thus, allowing investigators to exclude

The Importance Of Traditional Liberal Arts
In America, there has been many people that question the importance of including traditional liberal
arts within our own education. Within this controversy, there have been many voices that have spoken
up. One voice happened to be Sanford Ungar, author, and previous liberal arts president at Goucher
College in Maryland. Ungar believes that Americans are steering away from the traditional liberal
education. Choosing educational paths that lead them on a one way career path, and not realizing what
a liberal education has to offer. Some Americans believe that liberal arts has become irrelevant in
today s society, however, A 2009 survey for the Association of American Colleges and Universities
actually found that more than three quarters of our nation s employers recommend that college bound
students pursue a liberal education ( Ungar 228). By providing this information, Ungar urges
Americans to open up their minds to the pursuit of a liberal arts education. With that being said, there
were others who had different opinions.
W.H Brady Scholar, political scientist, and author, Charles Murray, expresses his own thoughts. It is
said that liberal education is part of Core Knowledge. Some even say that everyone residing in the
United States needs to know the ins and outs of Core Knowledge. Regardless of what others say, in
Murray s eyes, people have a choice. The author Murray, emphasizes that the material covered in

nutritionist to the stars. Thank you so much for meeting with me! Phylicia Rashad has said the nicest
stuff about you. She looks incredible, right? She s 90. Wow! Okay, I m just gonna dive right in. I can
tell by looking you re not the least you can be. Yeah, no, I m not. Well, we re gonna change that. So
what are your fitness goals? Well, my goal weight I don t work in weight. I work in celebrities. Which

History Of Southern California s Shoreline And...
Introduction
On the afternoon of January 28, 1969, a terrible environmental disaster occurred when a well blowout
on the Union Oil Company platform A, causing one of the largest oil spill in the United States. The

rapidly becoming disfigured by noisy, disruptive, plastering oil rigs. During this time, all offshore
activities were unregulated by the state and the only legal requirement for prospector was that they
negotiate an agreement with the owner of the ocean front property of which drilling rig would be
extended (Wilder, p.31). As technology evolved, offshore drilling moved progressively into deeper
water and farther away from oceanfront. In 1958, Richfield Oil Company developed the first drilling
man made island in Rincon where there was a substantial amount of oil was found. With the mounting
pressure and high demand to produce more oil and gas, geologists studied the anticlinal trends and
discovered the abundance of oil productive in Rincon Island extended underneath the Santa Barbara
Channel. By the 1960 s, oil prospectors began to partner with one another developing into large oil

  • 3. Essay on Mermaid Swims In Mermaid Swims In I am new to the hobby of keeping and maintaining an aquarium. My boyfriend, Andrew, gave me an aquarium for my birthday two months ago. I was very excited. When I was little, my family had two goldfish in a small, round bowl. Watching my mother clean out the tank was the extent to which I knew how to care for fish. The aquarium that Andrew gave me is an Eclipse 6; a six gallon aquarium equipped with a bio wheel filtration system. The bio wheel system is a three step filtration system: the water is sucked out of the aquarium into a tube, passed along a carbon filter, and then into a chamber that houses a bio wheel a small rotating filter that absorbs impurities from the water. Finally, the water is dropped back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was very hard at first but I finally caught on. The first challenge that I had to overcome was the intimidation factor that the computer and the Internet caused. I was constantly worried that I would inadvertently damage a program, or a file, and I was therefore hesitant and apprehensive. I realized that allowing myself to experiment with things was the only way that I would truly learn to get around the web. And the search began. Since I was not familiar with what was available to people on the Internet, I began playing around while searching for my topic of interest: aquariums. I searched the web by typing key words in a search engine like Yahoo or Lycos. This took me to several sites on the topic of fish keeping. I ran across the FAQ s web site called The Aquaria. This site gave me tons of helpful information regarding the steps I needed to follow to start up and keep a healthy aquarium. I learned that the gravel should be rinsed thoroughly before going into the tank something I had not done and, thinking back, how I introduced disaster into my first attempts at setting up a tank. I also learned that the aquarium needed to run for at least a week without any fish in it so that the many levels of chemicals in the water could have a chance to stabilize. After looking at several other sites, I finally felt that I too could keep a healthy aquarium and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I first watched the movie Stand by me , I was expecting an old hippie style plot and horrible filming and acting it was made in 1986 after all. However, I was wrong. Even if there had been bad filming, it still wouldn t have overshadowed the amazing talent of the young actors and the engaging, coming of age storyline. The movie starts with an older, wiser version of Gordie Lachance (Richard Dreyfuss) reminiscing of the good times, in particular the summer of 1959, he had with his childhood friend Chris Chambers. Sparked by the unforeseen death of Chambers, we are entered into a nostalgic flashback where the quartet of inseparable friends Gordie (Wil Wheaton), Chris (River Phoenix), Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman) and Vern Tessio (Jerry O Connell) are enjoying their last summer together before they enter the years of adolescence and middle school. They have made important changes to how law is made in Scotland and how the Scottish legal system works. This essay aims to examine what it is these Acts are intended to do, and discuss the impact they have had on the development of law in Scotland. The number of seats in a state should (in any fair distribution) be proportional to its ratio in the population. Therefore rounding according to some (acceptable) rule should be applied. Below you will see the table showing the Hamilton method of apportionment to determine the number of seats each state would receive. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Huntington Hill Method is a modified version of the Webster method, but it uses a slightly different rounding method. While Webster s method rounds at 0.5, the Huntington Hill method rounds at the geometric mean. If a state s quotient is higher than its geometric mean, it will be allocated an additional seat. This method will almost always result in the desired number of seats which helps to avoid an Alabama Paradox. Apportionment can achieve both a fair and unfair representation giving the research I have done on this assignment. It also depends on the apportionment method in which is used that also plays a factor in your results. As you can see, it might not be obvious that these seemingly similar measures of absolute fairness would give rise to such different methods to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1994, DeGeneres reached her height of popularity as an actress with her self titled television sitcom, Ellen, which was originally titled These Friends of Mine. This ABC show was popular in its first few seasons due to DeGeneres s style of observational humor. All three theories believe the environment plays an important part in the cognitive development of children. They each believe it has an impact on how the child learns and develops. They all agree when there is a disruption of the process such as the child being subjected to mental or physical neglect or abuse the child can grow to be developmentally challenged or develop a mental illness as a result. What may be harder to determine is the differences in these three theories. The outcome of each would seem to be the same. Each theory is based on cognitive development and the relationship the environment has on that development. A Dead Man Is Good For Nothing Alexandra Hernandez English 1A Mr. Gejeian 5 July, 2015 Argumentative Essay A Dead Man is Good for Nothing In 1995 Duane Buck was convicted for the murder of his former girlfriend Debra Gardner and her friend Kenneth Butler. He was sentenced to death in 1997 and his case should definitely not be taken lightly, but Buck was given the death penalty over life in prison because of the fact that he was an African American. A state psychologist in his case, Dr. Quijano, argued that African American criminals are more susceptible to pose a future danger to the public, and this was the key testimony that the prosecutor relied on. Since then, his case has not been reopened. It was later admitted by a district attorney at the time of Buck s case that African American jurors were routinely dismissed by prosecutors. In 2011, his lawyer argued that he deserved a new sentencing hearing without tainted prejudicial testimony, but his request was ultimately denied and they continued with the set execution date. The death penalty is prejudice and goes against all religious beliefs, but death overall is a cruel and unusual punishment and should not be used as a form of punishment by the government. According to Lymedisease.org, Symptoms of early Lyme disease may present as a flu like illness (fever, chills, sweats, muscle aches, fatigue, nausea and joint pain). Some patients have a rash or Bell s palsy (facial drooping). However, although a rash shaped like a bull s eye is considered characteristic of Lyme disease, many people develop a different kind of Lyme rash or none at all. Lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose because its symptoms mimic so many other disorders, especially if a rash is not present. Lymedisease.org, also reports that only 42% of cases had a rash . Furthermore, lymedisease.org goes on to report that, Many Lyme symptoms, such as fatigue, cognitive impairment, joint pain, poor sleep, mood problems, muscle pain, and neurological presentations also occur in other diseases. Hence, the symptoms of Lyme disease significantly overlap those of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson s disease, ALS, depression and Alzheimer s disease. Many Lyme patients report being misdiagnosed with a different condition before being properly diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lyme disease can affect nearly all of our body s functions in one way or another. • 26. The Impact of Acronyms Use in Facebook on Language Based on the observations and results that I gathered for 2 weeks, I found out that most of my participant who uses Facebook daily uses acronym to update their status, provide feedback or comment, chatting with other users, to give out information or to post personal details through Facebook. For my research, I found out 5 most common acronyms used by my participants which are BT, FYI, TQ, BTW, and FB. When asked about this, my sample gives out different opinion and reason on why they tend to use this acronym when using Facebook. In my view, they use acronym to shorten the sentence when they update their status in Facebook via Facebook mobile as well as to reduce the time taken to type the full sentence. When asked about whether using acronym limited the use and application of languages, they did not think about it at all. For example, Mr. K from Evidence 4 stated that he does not care about language when he update his status or chat with his friend in Facebook. For him, he only cares about using correct form of language when he was in a formal environment, as an example, speaking to his English lecturer. Moving on, from the findings or results that I have gathered, I place my focus on only 5 acronyms in order to narrow my observation. However, I will discuss the 5 acronyms more in the view of semantic. Semantically, all five acronyms mentioned in my research have different meaning. • 27. Poverty Causes Of Poverty Madagascar is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It has such a diverse selection of flora and fauna. The country is known for housing many species of animals that other countries do not. Madagascar has over 200,000 different species of mammals, amphibians, reptiles, etc ( Madagascar Wildlife for Kids ). Their landscapes are absolutely breathtaking, with gorgeous sunsets in the springtime to tie in the beauty. But, then you move along to the towns of Madagascar, and these are the most devastating of all. With Madagascar suffering heavily from poverty, their lifestyle is tragic. Their living conditions are poor, healthcare is almost non existent, jobs are limited, and education is deteriorating. The way in which these people live is truly heartbreaking to see. Madagascar is in major poverty for a number of reasons. One reason the country suffers is because of the past Kleptocratic Rule it endured, which affected its money situation greatly. The previous French Dictator, Didier Ratsiraka, and other workers of the government stole excessive amounts of money from the Aid and Development of Madagascar Fund. This kind of corruption caused friction when the country tried to invest and trade with other countries( Why is Madagascar so Poor? ). A poorly organized government can lead to a poorly organized country, which is another reason why Madagascar suffers. There are only about 5,780 kilometers of paved roads out of the 49,827 kilometers of marked roads the country has. The road conditions, as one can imagine, are dreadful. Cyclones and other types of annual storms are to blame for this. But, to help build and repair roads, the past President, Marc Ravalomanana, helped to repair the damaged infrastructure the country holds. Furthermore, the Madagascar has a very small population of about twenty four million people, meaning that there is not a lot of money being funneled into the government, which can be a leading problem in lack of infrastructure. Lastly, due to the country s shortcomings in the economy, no other country really wants to develop, transport, or sell goods there, which is a problem when it comes to the citizens buying goods. This can also send market prices soaring, if some items ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Ineptitudes In Catcher In The Rye Literature is a powerful tool that allows readers to gain perspectives and to experience firsthand the thoughts and emotions of characters in any work. Often, it is through these works that a person can learn a great deal towards becoming a better member of society. However, despite Holden s affinity for the subject of English and his ability to perceive the nuances of some of the characters from books he has read, Holden still seems unable to learn from the experiences of these characters. Most tragically though, it is the characters with whom he tends to associate more and with whom he feels more of a connection that demonstrate his social ineptitudes, because these characters are in such similar situations to him. These characters are dealing with common social issues like sexuality, emotionality, and alienation issues that Holden experiences time and time again yet he does not learn from the struggles these characters are experiencing, and thus is incapable of applying them to his own life. ... Looking back on the world and prescribing that it was a primitive existence compared to the present is an interpretation that has held some ground until the face of adversary reveals itself. The progress of human history near the common day is not a straight linear progression that hits abstract checkmarks of movements and revolutions, but it is a more complex study. The ability to look at the past and its developments is invaluable to see the developments play out and see how progress is a limited ideal. The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the people of the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time periods and movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but times in their own right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience that allows the historian, student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also draws lines where causes and effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research into the old story even when the research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is an effect of the convenience and discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is also held to a standard that keeps the present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying the past it is desirable to see one s time as superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of progress, but this is not so when the direction that follows is not a desired one such as Snow s description of the sciences where if the scientists have the future in their bones, then the traditional culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. The Impact Of Internet Legislation On The Internet The goal of the legislation was to improve the access of the internet and to allow the consumers to receive equal access to all internet sites no matter what provider they are using. This allows people to select the applications or sites they wish to get their information, giving them a freedom not many have. As shown before these companies have been fined and reprimanded for breaking the law, however this brings forth a probe to see if this policy been successful in creating an equal internet for the consumer. According to CBS NL it states that the dutch legislation raised the over population of 84% avidly use the internet in 2012 versus the 78% of people in 2005. The statistics presented by the Central Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) show that as the internet evolved people became more dependent on the internet leading to an expansion of people using the internet (CBS 2012). Additionally, the Netherlands holds the highest percentage of internet users than in most developed countries in Europe (CBS). However, as we see that more people in the Netherlands use the internet ISPs also introduced a raise in prices to help with the lost revenue the law created. As some politicians look to resolve the gun control issues, with banning them, imposing more restriction to sellers, buyers and owner; some people and politicians consider the second amendment to be relic and should be removed from the constitution. History has shown us time and time again even through all the violence and chaos in the world and America, that there is a reason for the creation of the second amendment. From history of America independence in 1776 to the ratification of the bill of right in 1791 the 2nd amendment still remains relevant form it creation, to modern times, and the protection of America s future; for the freedom of its inhabitants and citizens. In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory, application, and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to students and those not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a paper which will be useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore, in this paper we discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and differences between different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach. Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003: 347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative analysis.2 For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to use across different methods. The two countries Armies were greatly involved in this conflict, with Pakistan having a bigger role to play in the war. It is important to note that Pakistan begun preparing for this war as early as February 1999 by selecting, training and deploying troops into the Kargil region. It is also imperative to understand the main intention behind all these preparations. The main aims of this grand plan were to isolate Siachen, to cause disruptions at several places in the main road connecting Leh and Srinagar, and to interrupt NH 1A. All these were meant to set the stage for attacking the valley through military and terrorist actions with the main objective of executing their main agenda dubbed Op Topac which was to gain control over Kashmir valley. As discussed by Raghavan Shorey (2002), the Pakistani troops could not approach the valley directly by taking the routes through either Kupwara or Baramulla because of the presence of heavy snow and Indian troops. Therefore, the country s army opted for the Kargil sector as the main route through which they could pursue their plan. Pakistan s success in this battle would mean that the country would gain confidence and prepare itself to launch the final attack against its enemy and liberate Kashmir. Moreover, if the country managed to seize Kashmir Valley, it would put them in a better position to avenge its shameful defeat in the 1971 conflict. The Kargil area is ... Dickens viewpoints on the prison system in America is that he persuaded that those who devised this system of Prison Discipline, and those who benevolent gentlemen who carry execution, do no know what it is that they are doing . The lets the audience know what Dickens believes to be the negative part of the Prison Discipline. Dickens states that not many men are capable of enduring long period of agony and torture. The prison system to Dickens led him to be convinced that There is a depth of terrible endurance in it which none but the sufferers themselves can fathom, and which no man has the right to inflict upon his fellow creatures . This lets us conclude that Dickens s assessment toward the Prisons has a more negative aspect. To support his claims of why the prisons have a negative aspect is seen through the numerous prisoners, he visited during his tour of the American prisons. He included an individual who was about to be released after two years in solitary confinement. Dickens reaction toward the man was that he felt his Heart bled for him; and when the tears rolled down his checks...to ask, with his trembling hands nervously clutching...whether there was hope of his dismal sentence being commuted, the spectacle was really too painful to witness . Within this controversy, there have been many voices that have spoken up. One voice happened to be Sanford Ungar, author, and previous liberal arts president at Goucher College in Maryland. Ungar believes that Americans are steering away from the traditional liberal education. Choosing educational paths that lead them on a one way career path, and not realizing what a liberal education has to offer. Some Americans believe that liberal arts has become irrelevant in today s society, however, A 2009 survey for the Association of American Colleges and Universities actually found that more than three quarters of our nation s employers recommend that college bound students pursue a liberal education ( Ungar 228). By providing this information, Ungar urges Americans to open up their minds to the pursuit of a liberal arts education. With that being said, there were others who had different opinions. W.H Brady Scholar, political scientist, and author, Charles Murray, expresses his own thoughts. It is said that liberal education is part of Core Knowledge. Summerland was a tourist town known for the tranquil climate, beautiful beaches, and health resorts. As oil rigs were being constructed, drilling was often rushed and the marine water suffered ecological harm by being the dumping grounds for waste and other harmful conditions. The local community and environmentalist were increasingly becoming outraged when the well manicure coastlines were rapidly becoming disfigured by noisy, disruptive, plastering oil rigs. During this time, all offshore activities were unregulated by the state and the only legal requirement for prospector was that they negotiate an agreement with the owner of the ocean front property of which drilling rig would be extended (Wilder, p.31). As technology evolved, offshore drilling moved progressively into deeper water and farther away from oceanfront. In 1958, Richfield Oil Company developed the first drilling man made island in Rincon where there was a substantial amount of oil was found.
