Unlawful Dismissal Case
In the first instance there is enough evidence for an unlawful dismissal, in this case the summary
dismissal was not handled correctly which by default becomes unlawful dismissal. Summary dismissal
is where the employee has been dismissed without notice because of something they have done has
destroyed the employment relationship (Fair Work Commission, 2015). In Larry s case there has been
a breach of general protections which requires a notice period at dismissal. Examining the
circumstance Larry s extremely low test readings, and no prior knowledge to the policy the
consequence of being summarily dismissed is not warranted other action should be taken to handle the
situation. If the case is not strong enough for an unlawful dismissal Larry ... Show more content on

This remedy may occur in a situation where an employee s actions are deemed to have contributed to
the loss of employment, but their dismissal was still considered unfair in the circumstances. This
occurred in Christopher Toms v Harbour City Ferries Pty Ltd as the commission found, before the
appeal into his reinstatement occur, that he should incur some penalty for breach of the policy he was
not awarded his lost wages. The aim of compensatory award is to compensate the employee for any
loss of earning and other direct losses as a result of the unfair dismissal. The award is such amount the
tribunal considers just and equitable in all the circumstances. Under section 232 of the Act, the
maximum amount of compensation that can be awarded is capped at the lesser of six months pay or
half income threshold. Conclusion If Larry Marshall were to apply for unfair dismissal from LPHC he
would be successful in his application. One, LPHC did not follow the correct procedures when
terminating the employment. Two, LPHC did not give a fair go all round insufficient weight to the fact
was given. Larry will apply to be reinstated as a tactical move, if LPHC declines that on a broken
employment relationship, compensation will be

Black Americans And Indian Americans
Black Americans and Indian Americans

Date Abstract
This paper explores the cultures of the dominant Indian American culture and the Black American
ethnic communities. Their way of life including their historical pasts, languages, religious ways and
social relations will be deeply enumerated. A comparison will be included and similarities and
differences drawn between the two groups. The groups will be compared on how they can interact in a
professional setting and lastly it will depict how the two can interact with the dominant ethnic group
on all aspects. Introduction
The United States of America has always had a diverse population of people from different racial and
ethnic backgrounds. As a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The US minority groups include the blacks, Asian Americans, Hawaiians and American Indians.
Based on gender, men are the majority while the women are the minority with the religious category
including the Muslims, Amish, Mormons and Roman Catholics as the minorities. The class that will
be considered and laid emphasis on in this paper is the ethnic classification. The rich cultural diversity
that the Indian Americans and African Americans brought into America can be identified through their
cultures and how they interact and relate to one another. Through this paper, I will discuss the
elements of each culture, compare and contrast the differences and similarities and how the two may
interact with the dominant group as minority groups.
African Americans
Most of the African Americans in the United States have their roots deeply embedded in Africa. The
Africans were held captive in the US from 1555 to 1865 when the slave trade was rampant (Tishkoff,
et al., 2009). The African Americans had numerous titles such as Negroes and Colored, but the terms
are no longer accepted in English and currently people of the ethnic group are referred to as African
Americans or Blacks. The Blacks originated from the numerous ethnic groups from mainly the Central
and Western Africa. Another minority group originated from eastern and south eastern Africa. The
different groups may have been different

The Sociological Perspective Of Sociology
The Sociological Perspective Sociology is the scientific study of society and human behavior. Human
behavior and each respective society that is studied can be evaluated and governed by the scientific
method to produce reliable results. The inquiries into these subjects are derived by the inspirations of
sociological perspectives. Each stratifying field of Sociology finds an anchor in the relationships
between these pieces in the human context in which they are found. Navigating the water in how these
perspectives differ is necessary to gain a sociological perspective. Marx s conflict theory is a
theoretical framework in which society is viewed as composed of groups that are competing for scarce
resources. It also evokes the competition between the proletariat, and the bourgeois that holds the
resources. In a similar macro sociological view, functionalism is a theoretical framework in which
society is viewed as composed of various parts, each with a function that, when fulfilled, contributes
to society s equilibrium; also known as functional analysis and structural functionalism. Sociology
also has a more intimate perspective of symbolic interactionism were a theoretical perspective views
society as composed of symbols that people use to establish meaning, develop their views of the
world, and communicate with one another. With these tools of perspective we can compare and
contrast themes from seven diverse videos that allow us to see the mechanics how the pieces relate

Best Christian Movie Fireproof
In the list of the best Christian movies, Fireproof ranks among the top. The director was very keen in
effectively using music to create mood, give emotions, and tell about an individual scene. The film is
about Catherine Holt and Caleb, who are undergoing marital issues to the point of wanting to get a
divorce. The union is saved by a challenge where Caleb is requested by his father to practice what is
written in the love dare forty day challenge. At first, he did it half heartedly but after some time he
realized he had feelings for Catherine. The film ends with a reunion and renewal of marriage vows.
The movie uses several soundtracks to different scenes. Some of the songs are Fireproof , Brighter
Days , This Is Who I Am , On The Tracks , Love Dare , Slow Fade , Not Good Enough , and What
You Don t Have. Other songs are House Of Fire , While I Am Waiting, Temptation, The Apology,

The music played in the film help the story by adding a concept to the images, for instance, Fireproof

at the time when Catherine has filed for divorce, and Caleb has changed by accepting salvation to
salvage the marriage. While praying, exercising and practicing the love dare each day he waits for
Catherine to notice and stop signing the divorce papers. The tune sets the mood of determination and
patience in times of adversity. Furthermore, Fireproof uses love is not a fight. The soundtrack reveals
that love and marriage are not a place to expect smooth ride. It is used at the end of the movie when
Catherine and Caleb reconciled. It is a song of victory, thus, setting the mood of conquest. In

Kansas s The Exporting Industry
Kansas in the Exporting Industry
Despite periods of rising prosperity, the last three decades have been characterized by middle and
lower income wage stagnation; a lack of job opportunities for those without a college degree; and a
speculative bubble inducing trade deficit. While the exports in Kansas have been growing at a
consistent rate, a significant increase in Kansas s exports could dramatically improve these conditions,
both nationally and statewide. (Brookings Program). To encourage this economic activity there have
been several efforts made by both the government and private sector.
According to Export Nation, the state of Kansas exported $22.8 billion dollars worth of merchandise
in 2012; the last year the information was available. Kansas ranked 30th out of the 50 states for
exports. These exports were to both other states and foreign countries. Exports from the state of
Kansas have risen from 11% of the gross domestic product in 2003 to 16.8% in 2012, gaining 5.8% in
those 9 years. The city of Wichita, ranks 1st in the share and dollar amounts of exports. In 2012, the
companies within the city exported $7.7 billion claiming 33.6% of the state s exports. (Export Nation,
2012)
The products that Kansas tends to be known for exporting to other states or international countries are
predominantly aircraft, wheat and beef. However, according to the Wichita Eagle, the top export from
the state in 2013 was in the agribusiness sector, totaling more than $2.6 billion

Atul Gawande So Called The Itch
The Itch
Everybody has experienced a scratching sensation when something brushes against you or where you
think a spider is crawling up your skin. You immediately are sent into a rapid scratching trying to
relieve yourself from the pesky disturbance. However, when you check to see what made you scratch,
you find nothing. Even though there is nothing there, you still feel the urge to continually scratch. It
was from these scratching occurrences that sent Atul Gawande out to discover the unexplainable
theories of the so called itch. From trying to unveil the mystery of the itch, Gawande came across that
not many knew that much about the scratch. The articles definition to the scratch was, An unpleasant
sensation that provokes the desire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gawande wrote about a woman named M. who scratched through her skull to her brain in her sleep.
The scratching only gave her momentary relief before the urge to scratch just grew bigger making the
annoyance worse. Since pain was thought to be so closely linked to itching through nerves, M s
doctors thought that the only way to get rid of the itch was to cut off the function to the nerves where
the itch was present. After losing the feeling in her face and after taking anesthetics and antibiotics the
urge to scratch still came back, becoming more of a chronic itch. Fueling Gawande s theories about
the itch, he theorized that maybe there is nothing wrong with the nerves at all. He thought that there
was something going wrong in the brain when it tells your body that you need to scratch, when clearly
you do not. After becoming more in depth with M s case, Gawande then introduced a man named H..
H. suffered from strange symptoms of phantom limbs. Phantom limb sensations were described as, ...
far too varied and rich to be explained by the random firings of a bruised nerve (Gawande, 2008).
Gawande s theory expanded by theorizing that the brain can t visually see that the person/self is healed
when the nerve transmissions are shut off due to

The Castro Regime And The LGBT Community
Not only did the Castro Regime harass the LGBT community, they imprison many of the openly
homosexual people. During the decades of the 1960s which was precisely when all the new laws
against homosexuals came into being, the sexual act became taboo while the new man: was being
proclaimed and masculinity exalted(Arenas). Life for any person that practice homosexuality was
tough as a result the fear of imprisonment was their greatest concern. All homosexual acts were
deemed illegal and punishable by years in jail. By 1964, young men were even being persecuted for
having long hair and wearing tight fitting pants (New World Encyclopedia). The Castro government
continued to enforce the Public Ostentation Law following the Revolution. Throughout the 1960s and
1970s, gay men were routinely imprisoned for soliciting sex in public locations, government workers
lost their jobs because of their homosexuality, and homosexual artists were censored ( COHA).
Eventually, every gay writer and artist was parameterized. That is, they received a telegram stating
that their behavior did not fall within the political and moral parameters necessary for their jobs.
Despite all homosexual people that have been affected by the laws that were decreed by the
government, the artist and writers were often targeted by the government the most. Thus, this could be
because they have a way to express their oppression through art or writings. By prevent artists and
writers to continue expressing

Scout Reflection
On Saturday, the 28th of October, I presented Earth Rocks to Cub Scouts who were earning their Merit
Badge. As I now reflect on the two sessions I taught that day, I wonder if I could have ever been truly
prepared for them. I believed I had everything lined out and timed to take us right up to the time their
session was over. However, that was not the case because the scouts knew a considerable amount
more about the subject than I realized. I feel honored to have been able to work with such intelligent
groups of scouts. During the first session, I quickly realized that these Cub Scouts knew an impressive
amount about the information I was presenting, so I forced myself to change how I was presenting the
material. I engaged the scouts into the material by asking each one tons of questions about what they
already knew. Then I made sure they stayed busy with hands on activities that really engrossed them
into the material. I believe that when I had to change my lesson plans on the spot, I did decently well.
I was able to better grab the scouts attention and help them learn more information than before they
walked into the session. One of the most challenging ideas I tried to teach to the scouts would have to
be about geographical surroundings and the geographical materials that make up the buildings. I feel
as if I did not know enough about the subject matter, or how to present it correctly in a way that was
truly benefiting the scouts. However, the scout leaders were

The Biological Processes Of Dairy Cattle Essay
In today s world, many infants are allergic to certain proteins naturally present in cow s milk. Due to
the huge volume of milk products consumed by the human race, there is a need to get rid of this
allergy causing protein and eliminate this allergic reaction. AgResearch has investigated ways to
manipulate the genetic material in dairy cattle by using the process of Gene Knockdown , with the aim
to create a cow which produces milk which doesn t contain the protein responsible for the allergic
reactions, the Beta lacto globulin protein or BLG . Scientists have been successful in creating Daisy
the Cow, who is a cloned calf genetically modified to produce milk which does not contain the BLG
protein. I will be discussing the biological processes behind the cloning of Daisy the cow, and the
decisions made by scientists to use methods for genetically modifying the cow s genes from whom
Daisy was cloned, for the benefit of humans.
There are specific reasons AgResearch used processes like Gene Knockdown and cloning by Somatic
Cell Nuclear Transfer SCT to get the result they wanted. The stakes are high to ensure the cloned cow
Daisy survives and is healthy. Therefore AgResearch needed to choose procedures which were most
likely to yield successful results. The whole project and process cost around 50 million dollars to
produce one cow, and with historical success rates very low they could potentially lose funding and be
shut down if the project didn t produce any successful

I chose JP Morgan Chase because they are one of the oldest leading financial institutions within the
Unites States. Their history dated back to over 200 years. This financial institution leads global
financial services with assets totaling approximately $2.5 trillion. They have operations in over 60
countries and an estimated 240,000 employees. JP Morgan Chase also has stocks in one of the
components of Dow Jones (Morgan). JP Morgan Chase s principles are maintained on how they can
strengthen, provide safety, and continue to grow within their industry now and in the future. Their
focus on these principles is what is predicted to be the best and most respected in the banking industry.
JP Morgan Chase has four main areas that they focus their attention. One area is exceptional client
services. Serving clients is JP Morgan Chase s top priority in which they strive to exceed their

Roles of Women in Ancient Greek Literature The roles of women in ancient times is undeniably
important. They were the center of the home and the center of the family. Family was most important
in these times, especially the fact that all men needed heirs, without women this would not happen.
They were cunning seductresses, obedient housewives, givers of life and the center of all households.
They were not given citizenship or had political power, but held power and influence none the less.
Women were not worthy of education and were meant to stay subservient. They were thought of as
worth less than a man, but where would men be without women? There were also female gods or

Introduction
SAA (Serum Amyloid A) function is similar to a C reactive protein (an annular pentameric protein that
is mostly found in blood plasma and its levels rise in response to inflammation. It considered as an
acute phase protein of hepatic origin, which increases following interleukin 6 secretion by
macrophages and T cells) but acts as an acute phase protein, which can be used as an indicative,
predictive or as a therapy follow up marker for many diseases such as Atherosclerosis, Rheumatoid
arthritis, Crohn s disease, and diabetes. As the level of the serum increases, the SAA is triggered by
physical insults to the host which includes infection, trauma, inflammatory reactions, and cancer (R.
Kisilevsky a, 1991). A broad response range is reflected by an SAA gene duplication, which results
into a cluster encoding of several SAA variants and by multiple biological functions of SAA. SAA
prompted chemokines in degrading enzymes through a Toll like receptors and it functions as an
activator and chemoattractant through a G protein coupled receptor. A persistent stimulus in an
infectious or inflammatory area, this will cause the liver to produce more SAA, which will become an
antimicrobial agent by functioning as a direct opsonin of bacteria (Urieli Shoval, Linke, Matzner,
2000). The regulation of innate and adaptive immunity through the helps of SAA benefit the invention

All Quiet On The Western Front Film Analysis
The three films we were assigned to watch this unit were different in so many ways; Mutiny on the
Bounty recounted the 1789 rebellion against William Bligh aboard the HMAV Bounty, It Happened
One Night told the somewhat cliche story of a wealthy woman falling for a white collar reporter, and
All Quiet on the Western Front illustrated the nature of World War 1 and its effects on those involved.
Each film was not similar in plot to any other, yet each one falls on the list of the Greatest Films of All
Time. I think the greatness of All Quiet on the Western Front lies in the fact that the story told a
different kind of war story; instead of glorifying war and painting the characters out to be heroes, the
audience was given a sad story where those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene is so important because it demonstrates the fragility of human beings. Paul, who has
proven to be much more than just a war machine, proves his humanity by reaching for that butterfly;
something so many of us might have done as children, and in that small moment of peace, where he
seems to have forgotten of his surroundings, he is immediately brought back to reality as his life is
taken from him. I think one of the strengths of It Happened One Night is its dialogue. Although the
story, in my opinion, is not totally stellar, the dialogue is quick and witty; allowing the film to be
entertaining all over. There aren t many dull moments in the film and the way in which the actors
perform their dialogue not only keeps you intrigued but makes it somewhat relatable, regardless of the
time period. Mutiny on the Bounty is similar to It Happened One Night in its acting. I think the
strength of this film was through the acting, which was very enticing. Although I didn t completely

The Life and Mission of David Livingstone
David Livingstone s life began on March 19th, 1813, in the town of Blantyre, South Lanarkshire,
Scotland. He had six siblings. David could recite Psalm 119, at the age of 9. At the age of 10, David
began to be employed at the cotton mill of H. Monteith and Co, where he worked 12 to 14 hour days,
6 days a week, as a piecer, with his older brother John. A piecer is a young child that crawls through
the giant looms, to watch for broken threads. When the threads break, it is their job to quickly tie them
back together. Around the time David began working, a law was passed requiring factories and mills
to teach children that were 12 and under. However, the law sadly did not state when they had to hold
classes, so more often than not the business owner would supply classes from 8 to 10 P.M, after the
children had already worked their shifts. Many children did not take advantage of the free classes, but
David did. He would force himself to stay awake and focus, just so that he could learn. Two years
later, plants and herbs caught David s interest. He owned a botany book, which he studied with care,
even though his father would not of allowed it because it was science. At this time in the world, people
believed that science and Christianity could not go together because that would be questioning why
God made things the way He made them. However, David studied science anyway. There came a time
in his life that he had a choice to make. Science or Religion. He had to

I Want to Become an Architect
Ever since I was young, I have admired intricate buildings and structures. I have always appreciated a
nice, well thought out home because I do believe home is where the heart is. I have done lots of
research on architecture, and what it takes to become an architect. I am naturally drawn to this career
because it requires lots of creativity and an eye for design. Being an architect also allows you to
interact with people, which is important to me because I am a social person. It also is a steady job and
brings in a good salary.
Through research, I have learned what exactly architects do before starting projects, and while
working on projects. A usual day for an architect usually consists in two settings: the office, or
sometimes the construction site where their idea is put to life. Usually in the office, they are meeting
with clients, preparing project specifications, and completing requirements and objectives for
upcoming projects. They also have to know how to manage construction contracts and create scaled
drawings by hand however, preparing drawings by computer design technology is more common these
days with new advanced, efficient computer programs. The typical day in the office for an architect
sounds nothing but ideal for me. One in five architects is self employed, which is a significant number
of self employed architects, and architects held 107,400 jobs in 2012. It would be ideal for me to be
self employed in my future because I like to be the boss and I am very

The Epidemiology Of Heart Rate
Heart rate is the number of times a minute our heart makes a beat. It is a very vital sound. There are
two parts to each heartbeat. The first part is when the heart contracts and pumps blood, is called the
systole (sis tol). The second part is when the heart relaxes so the chambers can refill with blood, is
called diastole (di as tol). Heart rate is what causes blood to run through your arteries. The heart uses a
lot of force to pump blood to the whole body. If your heart stops working then none of your body will
be able to get blood and you most likely die if some can t get your heart to start back up again. The
heart is one of the most vital arteries in the body.

The cardiovascular system is responsible for transporting oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and cellular

to the lungs, where the blood picks up oxygen and returns to the left side of the heart. The pumping
chambers of the heart that support the pulmonary circulation loop are the right atrium and right

Is Batman A Hero
Batman was created by Bob Kane and is regarded as one of the best comic book characters. Over the
years he has been known for taking on impossible odds for any human to face, often winning each
time, but can he really beat anyone?
As much as I love Batman comics, movies, and TV series, too many fans have this absurd notion that
he can beat anyone if given prep time. Granted, Batman is one of those type of heroes who has the
ability to outsmart a multitude of villains or other heroes using strategy, detective skills, martial arts,
and technology, but even with all this in his favor there are many characters he will never be able to
beat who are either superior to him in these areas or have way too much power for him to compensate

In reality, Batman only beat the man of steel because he had access to some thing he knew would
diminish his natural power, making him weak in the process. (also a result of the pain) So, technically
his win doesn t count. Not much strategy was needed for what he did in this fight. Depending on how
you play it, anyone could beat Superman when he s like that. If Superman did not have Kryptonite as a
weakness, the dark knight would have been killed or would be left with no choice but to escape. In a
similar scenario, if we were to replace the man of steel with another such as Galactus, or Thanos,
Batman would easily lose this fight because they simply have no exploitable weakness he could use to
beat them. No amount of preparation, technology, or human physicality can compete with a being who
is light years beyond average or Olympic levels of power, specifically godlike entities. Another point
worth noting is Bats track record against foes smarter and more skilled then him. He has been beaten
many times by Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke, Lady Shiva, and a few others throughout his career
which he has never outsmarted or beaten in a fight.

Unit 9 Cybernetics and Social Construction Cybernetics/systems theory and social constructionism are
two closely related philosophical traditions that inform family therapy approaches (Gehart, p. 37,

Obesity In Huntington s Obese City
In recent years, information about how our food choices affect our health has started to emerge in
popular society. The outrageous percentage of people suffering with diseases such as obesity, diabetes
and asthma has people asking questions and looking for causes (and solutions). Television shows such
as Jamie Oliver s Food Revolution, in which one ambitious English chef sets out to make the most
obese city in America healthier, explains just how serious these problems have become. The scenic
city of Huntington, WV has been the key driving force of his movement. This city is only a few miles
from where I live. The most obese city in America. The state of West Virginia, has been the most
obese state in the United States from 2010 through 2012. Overall, obesity in the U.S. has increased
from 26.2 percent in 2012 to 27.1 percent in 2013; the obesity rate was 25.5 percent in 2008
(Huffington post, 2014). This continuously increasing current global issue effects our society, our

Compare And Contrast Keats And John Keats
Percy Bysshe Shelley and John Keats were both unconventional men during their era. They were both
part of the romantics, poets who sought nature as a way of expressing their most bare and intimate
feelings. Their greatest aspiration was to resemble great poets like Wordsworth and Coleridge, who
they admired profoundly. However, Keats and Shelley were completely different both in their outlook
of life and even in the way that they expressed their feelings. John Keats was a poet who followed his
passion for poetry and left his medical career to become a poet. He was a passive man who believed in
the beauty of nature and held a respect and fear for it as well. Shelley was a man beyond his years, he
was an adventurous man who held a deep love for nature and uniqueness, as we can see in many of his
sonnets and poems. Both believed greatly that the power of art held and radiated once it was
acknowledged. Through their sonnets they expressed their respect for artists and their work, exalting
them for the passion and John Keats, On First Looking into Chapman s Homer. Gave us a more
personal view of an artist s work. The Odyssey had been John Keats long obsession, his dream had
always been to be able to read it, however, he had not been able because it had not been translated.
After Chapman translated the piece, Keats read the work and became overly sentimental. The artist s
work had impacted him greatly, so much that Keats did not think twice before pouring his feelings

Azalea Seafood Gumbo Shoppe Business Analysis Essay examples
Azalea Seafood Gumbo Shoppe is in the Seafood Packaging Industry . In this industry companies take
raw seafood materials and package them to sell to supermarkets, grocery stores and restaurants. While
Azalea does direct sales through catering the bulk of its revenue is derived from wholesaling its foods
(Appendix A). Larger compnaies in the industry typically work through a food broker that will arange
selling to supermarkets or grocery stores. A major advantage in using food brokers is that preferred
shelf placement can be arranged which aids in sales. For smaller companies in the industry, like
Azalea, it is diffiult to have access to food brokers because they do not deal in a high enough volume.

Events like product recalls can have a terrible impact to companies in the industry. Brand recognition
ensures that the benefits of the quality product are realized. With many substitutes readily available
companies in the industry must brand themselves in a way that allows themselves to stick out. Often
decisions in grocery stores or made quickly, and with substitutes literally right above or below having
a brand image that evokes positive feelings with the end user is important. Meeting these three goals
ensures that both customers, the end consumer and the retailer, are satisfied.
Porters Five Forces
Threat of New Entrants
The Seafood Packaging Industry has a few barriers to entry that work in its favor. These barriers
include access to distribution channels and government policies. To sell products members of the
industry need access to end users that will buy the product. This access is gained by selling to
distributors such as supermarkets, grocery stores, and restaurants. Gaining access to these distributors
is a difficult task. Ideally companies work through a food broker that can arrange a distribution
agreement, but for smaller companies like Azalea access to food brokers is difficult. For a company to
come into the market with such a large volume of sales that they could easily attract food brokers they
would need a large capital base which then provides an additional barrier.

Knowledge Management is an organization s methodology of making their intellectual assets as fully
functional, or effective as possible. This is a systematic approach organized to enhance understanding.
It s the managing of information in a way that provides an organization with a competitive advantage.
Information Systems can be summed in three words: technology, people, and process. Information
Systems is a group of interrelated components that first start with the technology, which includes:
hardware, software, and infrastructure. People are also included and they are the trained personnel. To
put the system together would be the process, which includes combining the trained personnel to work
together to support decision making and provide a value to an organization.
Organizational Learning has two main parts. First, it is manifested by shared ideas in an organization.
Then the shared ideas are developed into a common meaning by the organization. Organizations learn
by the interaction in a collective setting.
A High Performance Team is a group of people that molds together their skills in order to strengthen
performance results. The group members commit to a common purpose and are in line with one
another to hold themselves accountable to the team s performance.
Putting all of the Parts Together
How can organizational communication address the complex interaction of knowledge management,
information systems, organizational learning, and high performance teams?

Over Centuries Hundreds Of Years Dance Has Been And Always
Over centuries hundreds of years dance has been and always will be a major part of every culture. It is
used as a form of expression which incorporates many types such as art, prayer, meditation, fitness,
therapy and the list goes on. Dance is not only a resource for such things, but it is also a lifestyle for
many, including it in their everyday lives.
Throughout history dance was used solely for worship reasons. Dance goes as far back as the ancient
Egyptian days; it s possible it could go back even further before the history of it was even being
recorded. What we do know is that there is even written passages in the bible that mention dance.

Another impactful woman was Katherine Dunham. Dunham had a serious passion for dance.
Unfortunately, at the time segregation still existed and black people were not allowed into the same
places as white people. When Katherine Dunham preformed at a business that features dancers, the
owners were blown away and wanted her back. Before she came back she told them she wouldn t
preform until black people were allowed to sit in and watch, they liked her so much they agreed to it.
Not only did Dunham break the norm by being one of the first black, female performers, but she also
made it possible for other people who aren t white be able to enjoy her show as well. What Dunham
achieved in her lifetime is very important and helped contribute to ending segregation. These two are
only two examples of how dance has helped shape society and influence many. There are many other
instances where dance has played a huge role in the world.
Dances vary depending on the culture. Here in the United states we have various forms of dance,
whether you re doing the chicken dance, whipping, or nay naying, these are all examples of modern
day dances in America. We could even look back to the days where men and women went to the parlor
in their greased hair and poodle skirts and danced to some ol time rock n roll. There are so many
countries that have their own known dances, just like we do in the US. In one of the links

Trade Unions And The Workplace
Trade Unions are organisations and purpose is to look after employees in the workplace and protect
their rights. The way trade unions work, is that an employee needs to become a member of a specific
trade union, pays a fee to invest in the union s operations. In turn trade unions help employees with
things such as health and safety in the workplace, protection from discrimination, proper pay and
leave entitlements, making sure that the workers rights are protected etc. Unions also aim to protect
the interests of a union member for example, they commence campaigns and negotiations for
increased pay rates and they also try to improve working conditions such as health and safety.

Frederick Douglass Ridicule Auld Analysis
While reading Frederick Douglass Letter to my Former Master and Letter to Henry C. Wright , it
became clear that both beautifully written pieces were criticisms of the receiver. While writing to
Thomas Auld, the former master, Douglass does not go deliberately out of his way to insult Auld,
instead, Douglass describes their relationship as long and intimate, by no means friendly [that]
unhappily subsisted between [Auld] and [Douglass], leads [Douglass] to hope that [Auld] will easily

Wright also criticizes the receiver. During the letter, Douglass indicated that Wright has not done

appreciate the two sided ace of Henry C. Wright because as an advocate of anti slavery, Wright should

Douglass is audacious of Wright. Douglass does not fear Wright because he knows that slaves who

Wright was an advocate for feminism, anti slavery, and giving people their natural rights, but when it
came to speaking about his views, Wright knew his reputation would plummet. Douglass continues to

the slaves to pay for their independence because that would lead to the leaders of the government to

Gimpel
The Difference Between Gimpel and Society Today When wronged or made a fool of, people today
tend to recoil, and pounce back with vengeful hearts. It is the attitude and character of society to hate
those who wrong them and rid their hearts of trust afterwards. When comparing and contrasting the
character of Gimpel and the character of society today, the intent and full meaning of the short story,
Gimpel the Fool, is shown to the readers. Gimpel is portrayed as someone who is easily misled and
would believe most anything told to him. In this story, Isaac Bashevis Singer is revealing the

One of the major contrasts between the two is seen in the concept of revenge and forgiveness. It is the
nature of someone in society to repay evil for evil. It was once said, An eye for eye only ends up
making the whole world blind (Hall, Karyn). The struggle with revenge is centuries old. Shakespeare
said, If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not
die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge? Shakespeare clearly thought revenge was as normal
and predictable as the sun rising (Hall, Karyn). Gimple s character differs greatly from this vengeful
human nature. He forgave easily and accepted the fact that people are entitled to mistakes. An example
of this is found when Gimple and Elka were separated. Gimpel had found her lying with another man
and the Rabbi separated them until a divorce could be arranged. While Gimple was alone and was
pondering upon this predicament, he said to himself, There is bound to be a slip sometimes. You
cannot live without errors. Probably that lad who was with her led her on and gave her presents and
what not, and women are often long on hair and short on sense, and so he got around her (singer,
Isaac). Gimpel chose to be forgiving, instead of seeking revenge. This is far from the natural reply of
mankind. Singer reveals the need for forgiveness by showing this immense contrast

Causes And Effects Of PTSD

  • 2. Unlawful Dismissal Case In the first instance there is enough evidence for an unlawful dismissal, in this case the summary dismissal was not handled correctly which by default becomes unlawful dismissal. Summary dismissal is where the employee has been dismissed without notice because of something they have done has destroyed the employment relationship (Fair Work Commission, 2015). In Larry s case there has been a breach of general protections which requires a notice period at dismissal. Examining the circumstance Larry s extremely low test readings, and no prior knowledge to the policy the consequence of being summarily dismissed is not warranted other action should be taken to handle the situation. If the case is not strong enough for an unlawful dismissal Larry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This remedy may occur in a situation where an employee s actions are deemed to have contributed to the loss of employment, but their dismissal was still considered unfair in the circumstances. This occurred in Christopher Toms v Harbour City Ferries Pty Ltd as the commission found, before the appeal into his reinstatement occur, that he should incur some penalty for breach of the policy he was not awarded his lost wages. The aim of compensatory award is to compensate the employee for any loss of earning and other direct losses as a result of the unfair dismissal. The award is such amount the tribunal considers just and equitable in all the circumstances. Under section 232 of the Act, the maximum amount of compensation that can be awarded is capped at the lesser of six months pay or half income threshold. Conclusion If Larry Marshall were to apply for unfair dismissal from LPHC he would be successful in his application. One, LPHC did not follow the correct procedures when terminating the employment. Two, LPHC did not give a fair go all round insufficient weight to the fact was given. Larry will apply to be reinstated as a tactical move, if LPHC declines that on a broken employment relationship, compensation will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The US minority groups include the blacks, Asian Americans, Hawaiians and American Indians. Based on gender, men are the majority while the women are the minority with the religious category including the Muslims, Amish, Mormons and Roman Catholics as the minorities. The class that will be considered and laid emphasis on in this paper is the ethnic classification. Through this paper, I will discuss the elements of each culture, compare and contrast the differences and similarities and how the two may interact with the dominant group as minority groups. African Americans Most of the African Americans in the United States have their roots deeply embedded in Africa. The Africans were held captive in the US from 1555 to 1865 when the slave trade was rampant (Tishkoff, et al., 2009). The African Americans had numerous titles such as Negroes and Colored, but the terms are no longer accepted in English and currently people of the ethnic group are referred to as African Americans or Blacks. The Blacks originated from the numerous ethnic groups from mainly the Central and Western Africa. Another minority group originated from eastern and south eastern Africa. • 4. The Sociological Perspective Of Sociology The Sociological Perspective Sociology is the scientific study of society and human behavior. Human behavior and each respective society that is studied can be evaluated and governed by the scientific method to produce reliable results. The inquiries into these subjects are derived by the inspirations of sociological perspectives. Each stratifying field of Sociology finds an anchor in the relationships between these pieces in the human context in which they are found. Navigating the water in how these perspectives differ is necessary to gain a sociological perspective. Marx s conflict theory is a theoretical framework in which society is viewed as composed of groups that are competing for scarce resources. It also evokes the competition between the proletariat, and the bourgeois that holds the resources. In a similar macro sociological view, functionalism is a theoretical framework in which society is viewed as composed of various parts, each with a function that, when fulfilled, contributes to society s equilibrium; also known as functional analysis and structural functionalism. Sociology also has a more intimate perspective of symbolic interactionism were a theoretical perspective views society as composed of symbols that people use to establish meaning, develop their views of the world, and communicate with one another. With these tools of perspective we can compare and contrast themes from seven diverse videos that allow us to see the mechanics how the pieces relate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Kansas s The Exporting Industry Kansas in the Exporting Industry Despite periods of rising prosperity, the last three decades have been characterized by middle and lower income wage stagnation; a lack of job opportunities for those without a college degree; and a speculative bubble inducing trade deficit. While the exports in Kansas have been growing at a consistent rate, a significant increase in Kansas s exports could dramatically improve these conditions, both nationally and statewide. (Brookings Program). To encourage this economic activity there have been several efforts made by both the government and private sector. According to Export Nation, the state of Kansas exported $22.8 billion dollars worth of merchandise in 2012; the last year the information was available. Kansas ranked 30th out of the 50 states for exports. These exports were to both other states and foreign countries. The city of Wichita, ranks 1st in the share and dollar amounts of exports. In 2012, the companies within the city exported $7.7 billion claiming 33.6% of the state s exports. • 7. Atul Gawande So Called The Itch The Itch Everybody has experienced a scratching sensation when something brushes against you or where you think a spider is crawling up your skin. You immediately are sent into a rapid scratching trying to relieve yourself from the pesky disturbance. However, when you check to see what made you scratch, you find nothing. Even though there is nothing there, you still feel the urge to continually scratch. It was from these scratching occurrences that sent Atul Gawande out to discover the unexplainable theories of the so called itch. From trying to unveil the mystery of the itch, Gawande came across that not many knew that much about the scratch. The articles definition to the scratch was, An unpleasant sensation that provokes the desire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gawande wrote about a woman named M. who scratched through her skull to her brain in her sleep. The scratching only gave her momentary relief before the urge to scratch just grew bigger making the annoyance worse. Since pain was thought to be so closely linked to itching through nerves, M s doctors thought that the only way to get rid of the itch was to cut off the function to the nerves where the itch was present. After losing the feeling in her face and after taking anesthetics and antibiotics the urge to scratch still came back, becoming more of a chronic itch. Fueling Gawande s theories about the itch, he theorized that maybe there is nothing wrong with the nerves at all. He thought that there was something going wrong in the brain when it tells your body that you need to scratch, when clearly you do not. After becoming more in depth with M s case, Gawande then introduced a man named H.. H. suffered from strange symptoms of phantom limbs. Phantom limb sensations were described as, ... far too varied and rich to be explained by the random firings of a bruised nerve (Gawande, 2008). • 8. The Castro Regime And The LGBT Community Not only did the Castro Regime harass the LGBT community, they imprison many of the openly homosexual people. During the decades of the 1960s which was precisely when all the new laws against homosexuals came into being, the sexual act became taboo while the new man: was being proclaimed and masculinity exalted(Arenas). Life for any person that practice homosexuality was tough as a result the fear of imprisonment was their greatest concern. All homosexual acts were deemed illegal and punishable by years in jail. By 1964, young men were even being persecuted for having long hair and wearing tight fitting pants (New World Encyclopedia). The Castro government continued to enforce the Public Ostentation Law following the Revolution. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, gay men were routinely imprisoned for soliciting sex in public locations, government workers lost their jobs because of their homosexuality, and homosexual artists were censored ( COHA). Eventually, every gay writer and artist was parameterized. That is, they received a telegram stating that their behavior did not fall within the political and moral parameters necessary for their jobs. • 9. Scout Reflection On Saturday, the 28th of October, I presented Earth Rocks to Cub Scouts who were earning their Merit Badge. As I now reflect on the two sessions I taught that day, I wonder if I could have ever been truly prepared for them. I believed I had everything lined out and timed to take us right up to the time their session was over. However, that was not the case because the scouts knew a considerable amount more about the subject than I realized. I feel honored to have been able to work with such intelligent groups of scouts. During the first session, I quickly realized that these Cub Scouts knew an impressive amount about the information I was presenting, so I forced myself to change how I was presenting the material. I engaged the scouts into the material by asking each one tons of questions about what they already knew. Then I made sure they stayed busy with hands on activities that really engrossed them into the material. I believe that when I had to change my lesson plans on the spot, I did decently well. I was able to better grab the scouts attention and help them learn more information than before they walked into the session. One of the most challenging ideas I tried to teach to the scouts would have to be about geographical surroundings and the geographical materials that make up the buildings. I feel as if I did not know enough about the subject matter, or how to present it correctly in a way that was truly benefiting the scouts. However, the scout leaders were ... • 10. The Biological Processes Of Dairy Cattle Essay In today s world, many infants are allergic to certain proteins naturally present in cow s milk. Due to the huge volume of milk products consumed by the human race, there is a need to get rid of this allergy causing protein and eliminate this allergic reaction. AgResearch has investigated ways to manipulate the genetic material in dairy cattle by using the process of Gene Knockdown , with the aim to create a cow which produces milk which doesn t contain the protein responsible for the allergic reactions, the Beta lacto globulin protein or BLG . Scientists have been successful in creating Daisy the Cow, who is a cloned calf genetically modified to produce milk which does not contain the BLG protein. I will be discussing the biological processes behind the cloning of Daisy the cow, and the decisions made by scientists to use methods for genetically modifying the cow s genes from whom Daisy was cloned, for the benefit of humans. There are specific reasons AgResearch used processes like Gene Knockdown and cloning by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer SCT to get the result they wanted. The stakes are high to ensure the cloned cow Daisy survives and is healthy. Therefore AgResearch needed to choose procedures which were most likely to yield successful results. The whole project and process cost around 50 million dollars to produce one cow, and with historical success rates very low they could potentially lose funding and be shut down if the project didn t produce any successful ... They were cunning seductresses, obedient housewives, givers of life and the center of all households. It considered as an acute phase protein of hepatic origin, which increases following interleukin 6 secretion by macrophages and T cells) but acts as an acute phase protein, which can be used as an indicative, predictive or as a therapy follow up marker for many diseases such as Atherosclerosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn s disease, and diabetes. As the level of the serum increases, the SAA is triggered by physical insults to the host which includes infection, trauma, inflammatory reactions, and cancer (R. Kisilevsky a, 1991). A broad response range is reflected by an SAA gene duplication, which results into a cluster encoding of several SAA variants and by multiple biological functions of SAA. SAA prompted chemokines in degrading enzymes through a Toll like receptors and it functions as an activator and chemoattractant through a G protein coupled receptor. A persistent stimulus in an infectious or inflammatory area, this will cause the liver to produce more SAA, which will become an antimicrobial agent by functioning as a direct opsonin of bacteria (Urieli Shoval, Linke, Matzner, 2000). All Quiet On The Western Front Film Analysis The three films we were assigned to watch this unit were different in so many ways; Mutiny on the Bounty recounted the 1789 rebellion against William Bligh aboard the HMAV Bounty, It Happened One Night told the somewhat cliche story of a wealthy woman falling for a white collar reporter, and All Quiet on the Western Front illustrated the nature of World War 1 and its effects on those involved. Each film was not similar in plot to any other, yet each one falls on the list of the Greatest Films of All Time. I think the greatness of All Quiet on the Western Front lies in the fact that the story told a different kind of war story; instead of glorifying war and painting the characters out to be heroes, the audience was given a sad story where those ... Paul, who has proven to be much more than just a war machine, proves his humanity by reaching for that butterfly; something so many of us might have done as children, and in that small moment of peace, where he seems to have forgotten of his surroundings, he is immediately brought back to reality as his life is taken from him. I think one of the strengths of It Happened One Night is its dialogue. Although the story, in my opinion, is not totally stellar, the dialogue is quick and witty; allowing the film to be entertaining all over. There aren t many dull moments in the film and the way in which the actors perform their dialogue not only keeps you intrigued but makes it somewhat relatable, regardless of the time period. Mutiny on the Bounty is similar to It Happened One Night in its acting. I think the strength of this film was through the acting, which was very enticing. David could recite Psalm 119, at the age of 9. At the age of 10, David began to be employed at the cotton mill of H. Monteith and Co, where he worked 12 to 14 hour days, 6 days a week, as a piecer, with his older brother John. A piecer is a young child that crawls through the giant looms, to watch for broken threads. When the threads break, it is their job to quickly tie them back together. Around the time David began working, a law was passed requiring factories and mills to teach children that were 12 and under. However, the law sadly did not state when they had to hold classes, so more often than not the business owner would supply classes from 8 to 10 P.M, after the children had already worked their shifts. Many children did not take advantage of the free classes, but David did. He would force himself to stay awake and focus, just so that he could learn. Two years later, plants and herbs caught David s interest. He owned a botany book, which he studied with care, even though his father would not of allowed it because it was science. At this time in the world, people believed that science and Christianity could not go together because that would be questioning why God made things the way He made them. However, David studied science anyway. There came a time in his life that he had a choice to make. Science or Religion. He had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have always appreciated a nice, well thought out home because I do believe home is where the heart is. I have done lots of research on architecture, and what it takes to become an architect. I am naturally drawn to this career because it requires lots of creativity and an eye for design. Being an architect also allows you to interact with people, which is important to me because I am a social person. It also is a steady job and brings in a good salary. Through research, I have learned what exactly architects do before starting projects, and while working on projects. A usual day for an architect usually consists in two settings: the office, or sometimes the construction site where their idea is put to life. Usually in the office, they are meeting with clients, preparing project specifications, and completing requirements and objectives for upcoming projects. They also have to know how to manage construction contracts and create scaled drawings by hand however, preparing drawings by computer design technology is more common these days with new advanced, efficient computer programs. The typical day in the office for an architect sounds nothing but ideal for me. One in five architects is self employed, which is a significant number of self employed architects, and architects held 107,400 jobs in 2012. As much as I love Batman comics, movies, and TV series, too many fans have this absurd notion that he can beat anyone if given prep time. Granted, Batman is one of those type of heroes who has the ability to outsmart a multitude of villains or other heroes using strategy, detective skills, martial arts, and technology, but even with all this in his favor there are many characters he will never be able to beat who are either superior to him in these areas or have way too much power for him to compensate for. Depending on how you play it, anyone could beat Superman when he s like that. If Superman did not have Kryptonite as a weakness, the dark knight would have been killed or would be left with no choice but to escape.
