Erving Goffman s Presentation Of Self In Everyday Life
Erving Goffman was a Canadian born sociologist and writer. He was made a president of the
American Sociological Association. His best known involvement and contribution to the social
sciences is his theory of symbolic interaction and dramaturgy, which began with his 1959 book
The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life. This report explains that individuals have the ability to
choose their stage, the character they play, and the costume they wear in specific social situations
(Goffman, 1959). He also worked with the total institution model, and used it to construct his
studies, mostly in Asylums. A total institution is a residence and workplace for similar people,
who are cut off from the wider society for an amount of time, and who altogether, lead an enclosed
form of life (Frank, 2002). This ties in with his next book about mental institutions, where he
theorized that if people are treated, as they are a societal burden and placed in an institution with
others, they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes how the institution associates people into the role of a good patient , who is someone
that is blindly obedient, dull, harmless and inconspicuous (Goffman, 1961). He describes how the
debilitating environment in the institutions affect individuals perception of self worth, no matter
how therapeutic or non therapeutic a hospital and program is (Pilgrim and Rogers, 2008). People
come from their own social frameworks, where they occupy diverse roles. When institutionalized,
these individuals are stripped of their sense of themselves leading to what Goffman described as
disculturation (Davidson et, al. 2011). Instead of treating mental health as an illness, disculturation
leads to demoralization, deterioration, and leaves people virtually incapable of managing their own
lives in the real world , which leaves them requiring to remain institutionalized (Davidson et, al.

Becoming an Airline Pilot Essay
Becoming an Airline Pilot If you have a love for the sky and aviation is one of your interests,
you re not deterred from being in charge of at times more than 100 lives, and you have a soft
spot for exploring the world than becoming an airline pilot is for you. Airline pilots have one of
the coolest, most exciting nerve racking jobs out there. My goal for this paper is to explain all
about how to become an airlinepilot, what it takes to become one, the facts about the job, and
some pros and cons of being in the field. My interest in flying was harbored as a child during
vacations, my mother is a flight attendant so we traveled often. Whenever entering an airplane I

Attending and completing college is also a good reflection upon yourself towards the airline, it
shows you have a good work ethic and that you are willing to put in time and hard work to get
where you want to be. The second way to become a pilot is completing courses at a technical
school. Technical schools offer flight training courses towards a pilot s certificate, the same
certificate you get when completing an aviation degree in college. Technical schools are often
completed in a much shorter period of time and offer similar courses as a college, yet it is a
more hands on approach to education. Unlike college, the training in technical schools can be
more one on one which is good for anyone who has trouble adjusting to large class sizes. The final
and most hands on way to get a pilot s certificate is by completing flight training at any local flight
school. Although this is the most hands on way to get your licence it is usually the hardest. The
FAA (Federal Aviation Administration
) says that anyone trying to become a pilot must complete a
minimum of 250 hours of flying before receiving their licence. At a local flight school it can cost
you up to $80 an hour to fly a plane with an instructor making it very hard and very costly for
people to obtain a certificate this way. Local flight schools have also been criticized for the degree
of instruction they give to upcoming pilots.
Before a pilot can begin training, the pilot needs either an up to date

Writing On The Wall Research Paper
Looking back, technology has always been a part of our culture. Over time it has just looked
differently and it has changed in many ways. One of the main technological features, the
Internet, or what it originally was referred to, the World Wide Web, has made the most
significant advances. In 1992, researchers from the University of Illinois created a browser
called Mosaic. It allowed a simple way to search the web. Once word got out Congress allowed
for companies to use it for commercial use and its popularity just spread. Websites, blogs, business
and social media have taken us over by storm. The transformation of digital television, laptops, and
cell phones have also completely defined our culture and how we integrate into society. The internet
has brought all cultural, socioeconomic and educational and business groups together, but not
without a price to many. In the book, Writing on the Wall, by author Tom Standage, he uses many
popular and unknown examples that date all the way back to Roman Empire times to present the
theory that social media is nothing new. Social media is anything but a new phenomenon. People

The story of Farewell, my lovely talks about a private detective call Philipp Marlowe . This story
takes place in Bay City, in a little town near from Los Angeles. Marlowe is the most important
detective in the District Attorney s office, which lately had been not too much work. A man call
Moose Malloy contacted Marlowe to find his old girlfriend Velma who had been disappeared for
almost a lot of years. Marlowe accepted to help Malloy, but as the story goes through, several

As in the Chandler reading The Simple Art Murder , states, A detective will take no man s
money dishonestly and no man s insolence without a due and dispassionate revenge . When the
situation of Lindsay Marriot happened, Marlowe acted always as an honest detective respecting
his job s beliefs. Even though he failed at the goal that he supposed to reach and later to lose the
life of Marriot, he continued looking for to solve his case. The fact that Marriot gave to
Marlowe money at the beginning of the event of the necklace, it made Marlowe respect the
ideology of being honest as an exceptional detective. Essentially, Marriot was the only character
who gave money to Marlowe in the entire book. Neither, Malloy, Mrs. Grayle or Mrs. Florian
gave any money to Marlowe. Even though, Malloy was the principal character who was looking
for Velma, he never gave any amount of money, and Marlowe didn t care and he kept helping
him until the end of his life. Although Marlowe knew that Mrs. Grayle was such a rich woman
married to a powerful, ambitious and old man, he didn t ask her for any money. Generally

Vietnam Air Pollution And China s Economic Development...
Chinese Air Pollution
History of Air Pollution in China
During the 1980s, China underwent a series of industrial changes leading to severe air pollution
(Chen, Ebenstein, Greenstone, Li, 2013; Chen, Kan, Chen, Jiang, Hong, 2011; Kan, London, Chen,
Zhang, Song, Zhao, Chen, 2007; Schmidt, Olicker, 2004). As industries in large cities expanded,
the resources required to manufacture goods produced pollution in the air (Chen, Ebenstein,
Greenstone, Li, 2013; Chen, Kan, Chen, Jiang, Hong, 2011; Kan, London, Chen, Zhang, Song,
Zhao, Chen, 2007; Schmidt, Olicker, 2004). Over the years China continues to be one of the top
manufactures in the world, making industries increase their revenue demands. Although this change
has assisted in China s economic development and growth, it has also damaged the environment
these individuals live in. Industries in China have no mandatory rules and regulations that forces
companies to control what is released into the air. Thus, greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide
are released freely causing severe damages in the environment (Chen, Ebenstein, Greenstone, Li,
2013; Chen, Kan, Chen, Jiang, Hong, 2011; Kan, London, Chen, Zhang, Song, Zhao, Chen, 2007.
In terms of air pollution, China even seems to be surpassing other countries globally (World Health
Organization, 2010). Data shows that the most serious cases of air pollution in the world are
located in nine cities in China and about 1/3 of the 113 cities failed the national

Introduction
In September 24, 2008 T mobile G1 was introduced to the market. Some are saying that Google
phone may be more of a game changer from an industry perspective. Will it be successful in the
smart phone market?
Google s main source of revenue has been the advertising products based on the internet. Some may
ask why did dive into the mobile phone industry with the huge risk. The reason is that their business

For example, forking, loyalty, and warranty issues are all posed by its openness. 4. NOKIA IS
MAKING A MOVE ; Strong competitor Nokia is launching same business model with same
vision * Nokia is a strong competitor like apple, but more dangerous because of its huge power in
telecommunications market. 5. CARRIER ALIGNMENT means the resistance from the operators
who are afraid of them losing their control over consumers. The carrier losing their control over
consumers is a natural progress of changing market environment. There was no such model like app
store which consumers can participate in. Now the rule of game changed, and I think they have
nothing to do besides taking in the change.
Analysis of options 1. About the openness , Google can take 3 motions do nothing, lessen the
openness, or modify the openness. If Google pose nothing to the current problems, there is high
risk that the system may get marred or lose its competitiveness due to losing qualified
developers. If Google tries to lessen the current system s openness, it s like losing its own
competitive edge, and losing the company s vision. 2. About the competitor, Google can take 2
actions hostility or friendly. If Google takes hostile action to Nokia s move, as most companies did
in traditional market, it would go through bloody competition and lose some pie of the market.
Recommendations 1. Modify the current openness

Movies can be an incredible source for learning about a topic you re studying. After studying Arthur
it was very interesting to be able to have to opportunity to watch the movie Excalibur. By watching
the movie after you study about King Arthur it allows you to make connections and further your
knowledge about the story. In the movie, Excalibur, there I had three favorite scenes that I
thoroughly enjoyed. To begin, in the movie, Excalibur, I enjoyed the scene where Arthur pulls the
sword out of the stone. When Arthur s father is fighting for his last breath after his final fight he
decides that no one should be crowned king unless they are able to pull excalibur (his sword) out of
the stone he thrusts it into. In the scene that is my favorite,

Coke Test Lab Report
Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to show how an acid (Coke) can react together
with potassium to create a charger for an iPhone. Potassium and acid formed together makes
bubbles. With both potassium and acid working together, they will give off energy to the
iPhone. Why Coke? Every liquid will be either acidic or basic traits. An acid base reaction is a
chemical reaction that happens between an acid and a base. There are multiple definitions when
considering the reaction mechanism when solving problems. Regardless of what the problem is,
it s always a known fact that when using liquid or gaseous reactions, they become less apparent.

The banana was used as the main source in this experiment because the main objective was to
find out if a fruit could charge an iPhone without being plugged into an actual outlet. In this lab,
the Coke acts as an acid and the banana is potassium. The RCA cables were used as connectors
to stick one side into the banana and the other side in the Coke itself. The Coke can is used to
basically start the chemical reaction by the RCA cables that are put inside it which in return is
still connected to the banana. Just like plugging the cables into a television, the red cable is
usually used for right analog audio (the red goes in at the top end of the banana which is to the
right) and the white cable is usually used for mono analog audio (the white goes in at the end of
the fruit which is to the left.) The team used an iPhone because something electronic had to be
used in this particular experiment to get the results that we were looking for so an iPhone was the
chosen item. The iPhone charger is used to put into the Coke can while it is plugged into the actual
iPhone to see if we get results or not; this determined whether or not the iPhone can be charged by a
fruit. If the iPhone comes on, this indicates that it is charging through the chemical reaction and if
it doesn t, this could possibly mean the chemical reaction wasn t strong enough, something went
wrong during the procedure of the actual lab, and/or an

Symbolism In Beata Rossetti
In a symbol there is concealment and yet revelation
Thomas Carlyle
Solving of the problem of love and death was an implication of the symbolists ideal view. On the
one side, passionate love, which boarders with being demРѕnic, that leР°ds lРѕvers to dРµath, Р°nd
the dРµath itself, that Рѕpens the doors to new life, making the lovers immortal. The idea of
expressing interrelation of these two concepts, crucially important for symbolism, that lies in the
artwork Beata Beatrix made by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
The subject of this artwork is the scene from the emotionally autobiographical work of Dante
Alighieri La Vita Nuova , at the moment of Beatrice Portinari s death, who the author loved deeply.
Rossetti depicts the moment of Beatrice s death on her parents balcony in 1290, however, for the
artist this scene means much more, than just a visual interpretation of a scene from a book.
In 1962 the beloved wife and muse of Gabriel Rossetti Elizabeth Siddal died at the ... Show more

On the background on the right hand side of the picture, Rossetti depicts Dante (it is said by
several art critics that it is the symbol of death), whereas on the opposite side of Beatrice there is

spiritual connection between Beatrice and Dante (the parallel between Elizabeth and Rossetti also
may be drawn).
At the background next to Dante we can see a sundial that shows 9 o clock. This number famous
author (Alighieri) connects to Beatrice s life and death in a mystical way several times throughout

Example Of Personal Narrative Essay For College
For years I had been hiking the same dull, barren trail. There was nothing to see besides the
empty, looming trees on either side of the path and nothing to hear besides the constant crunch
of dead leaves underfoot. Day after day, I marched aimlessly; however, I soon stumbled upon a
divergent road. The contrast was astonishing. Where my current pathway was monotonous, the
other was alive. Its trees were blazing with vibrant auburns and golds, and some of their leaves
danced in the wind. Patches of daisies and dandelions peaked out from underneath piles of fallen
leaves. I was entranced by the warm kiss of the sun, the rich smell of flowers, and the chatter of
woodland creatures. It held a secret: the wondrous beauty of life. Although I was not sure what
this trail would hold for me later on, I was eager to embark on this new journey. I started by
letting go of the forces that weighed me down. With every burden I shed, the colors seemed to
grow impossibly brighter. Finally, I was happily strolling down the path to who I would become.

Antecedentes Hacer anГЎlisis del discurso implicaba llevar a cabo una investigaciГіn desde un
enfoque cuantitativo (de manera descriptiva y esquemГЎtica) relacionando un nГєmero de
apariciones de expresiones con el ejercicio de dominaciГіn de un grupo sobre otro, por ejemplo;

Selective Exposition in The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson
Usually when someone hears the word lottery the first thing that comes to mind is a large sum of
cash that people compete against highly impractical odds to win. Shirley Jackson s story The
Lottery might imply a similar conception based on the title alone, but the story is filled with
unknowns never revealing exactly when and where the story takes place, or why the lotteryexists;
even what the lottery is isn t revealed until the very end. Yet despite Jackson s omission of details
in The Lottery, she manages to create an overtone of mystery that compels the reader to grasp the

Minimalism, being the virtual heart of his style, Carver s stories sometime seem like they lack
motivation. Charles May writes that Carver s story Gazebo is specifically about how pointless
explanation actually is (42). Jackson s story mimics Carver s style a great deal, as very little is
revealed throughout the story, but for a good reason. If Jackson did explain everything about the
world of The Lottery, the reader would be too ensconced with reality while reading the story.
May writes that critic Walter Benjamin surmised that What story does is to show us how to deal
with all that we cannot understand; it is half the art of storytelling to be free from information.
Because the reader of the story is permitted to interpret things, story has an amplitude lacking in
information (41). Jackson s story is not meant to take place in a world that the reader can live in,
just one that the reader can believe is possible, and because the world is shrouded in mystery rather
than exposition, the reader is free to form their own opinions.
A shocking tale of murder in a virtually civilized town, The Lottery remains mysterious to the
end. The reader is blissfully unaware of a majority of details, causing the revelation of what the
lottery is to be all the more shocking. By using this selective exposition, Jackson effectively creates
a mystery in which the reader is free to

The Impact Of Multiculturalism In Canada
Multiculturalism is the act of giving equivalent consideration regarding various foundations in a
specific setting, and it can happen when a purview is made or extended by amalgamating zones
with two or more diverse societies or through migration from various locales around the globe.
Multiculturalism that seeks in keeping up the peculiarity of numerous societies is regularly
differentiated to other settlement arrangements, for example, social mix, social osmosis, and racial
isolation. Multiculturalismhas been depicted as a salad bowl and cultural mosaic (Burgess, et al.
2005). In spite of the way that multiculturalism has predominantly been utilized as a term to
characterize distraught gatherings, numerous scholars tend to center their contentions on outsiders
who are ethnic and religious minorities, minority countries, and indigenous people groups. The term
multiculturalism is frequently utilized as a part of a reference to Western country states, which...

Michelle Carter Suicide
Is this the day you succumb to your problems and listen to the thoughts, or will you keep on going?
These are the thoughts that were running through Conrad Roy s mind when he was texting his
girlfriend. The Suicide by text case has prompted many people to discuss social issues such as
mental illness and the court system. Michelle Carter was a young teenager who texted her
boyfriend telling him to commit suicidemultiple times. She is now facing years in prison for
involuntary manslaughter. The court system failed with this case but not drastically. They gave
her 2.5 years when she should have been charged as an adult and received twenty years. In June,
Moniz found Carter guilty of involuntary manslaughter, describing her behavior as reckless.
Carter received less years than usual because it was considered reckless and she only wanted
attention. She did not get the full sentence because she was not loved as much as she felt she
should have been. She should have received the full years, but this case was not as bad as others.

Summary Of The Institute Of Gaius And The Institutes Of...
During the decline of the Roman Empire, control over the development of law slowly left the hands
of the Jurists and come under the complete control of the Emperor. The Institutes of Gaius and The
Institutes of Justinian are two notable legal textbooks written approximately at the beginning and
the end of this process. As legal summaries, these texts may be useful sources to identify major
changes in Roman law, more specifically concerning the laws of obligations, during that period.

of Justinian are few and far between, much less in their historical context. A total of two pages is

Tomkins does not go in depth about any of the differences between the books. Conversely, a
very specific subsection of obligations are examined by Olivia Robinson in her article Justinian
s Institutional Classification and the Class of the Quasi Delict. She starts by clarifying that a
quasi delict is a subset of obligations and arguing that the quasi delict is an imaginary idea
created for the purpose of keeping a nice symmetry of four categories. Robinson points out
inconsistencies in Justinian s descriptions of other subsections of obligations and other instances
where substance was sacrificed for this symmetry. In this section, Robinson refers several times to
places in which Justinian either follows Gaius example or breaks from it. She concludes with an
analysis of the quasi delict and legal arguments for as to why it does not exist. Robinson concedes
that the quasi delict in Justinian s system of using four subcategories of ideas likely makes it easier
to teach legal concepts. The article is much longer and more detailed than the section in Tomkins
book. However, its main focus is proving that the quasi delict is a non sensical category rather than
the differences between Gaius and Justinian s Institutes, which is what Tomkins concentrates on.
Dalzell Chalmers and Lionel Barnes compare Justinian s and Gaius Institutes in a chapter of their
book, Student s Guide to Roman Law (Justinian and Gaius). In this chapter, the purpose is to

No words can describe what goes on in this girl s mind. Some call her deranged, crazy, but others
say she is smart and insane, but you really need to get into the mind of a deranged person. Before
she met her maker, Rebecca was a well rounded girl with a good head on her shoulders. She was
smart, intelligent even a little nerdy, but she had a sweetheart/and would do anything for those
of family or friends. Rebecca does have OCD so she is very picky on some things including
everything has to be in an order. If not she goes a little mad which is normal at least for the normal
side of her mind. Rebecca has what some would say split personality, but she wasn t always like
that, in fact, this girl was school body president, someone who would volunteer at animal shelters
and even old folks homes. Then there is another part of Rebecca that is hidden from most, but her
maker brought the darker part out of her.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She angers easily when things don t go her way, and she even talks to herself at times which
shows that Rebecca is not exactly in her right mindset. Though she is not crazy in fact Rebecca
is smarter than what most people think of her. She finds violence thrilling and enjoys hurting
others to a point, but she also laughs as well when someone is hurt. Rebecca was molded from
her maker calling her his lil monster, and making her a werewolf knowing she would be a
predator. Rebecca doesn t like when people give her orders and prefers to do things her own way
not caring if it effects others around her. She is only in it for herself, but there is still a good side
that want s to do, and sometimes she even feels guilty for what she does. Though Rebecca just
pushes that to the side.. Her maker done damage making sure to corrupt the once innocent girl into

Racism Is A System Of Power And Privilege
Racism is a system of power and privilege; it can be manifested in people s attitudes but is rooted
in society s structure (Collins, 2016). In the history of America, racism has been an on going issue.
Many people would argue that Americans have come a long way from where America used to be,
and while that is true, why should the American people be satisfied with just that? Why not fight
for complete transformation? Today the United Statesis more diverse than ever; however, diversity
doesn t automatically mean tolerance. Unfortunately, racismand white privilege still exist and
impact American s everyday lives.
The United States was quite literally founded on very racist terms. One of the first forms in

Slaves were not allowed to learn how to read and write, the women were often raped by their
masters, and slaves were brutally beaten for misbehaving. They were not considered people. Later,
Abraham Lincoln became President, and in 1863 the Emancipation Proclamation was written and
claimed all slaves forever free ( Slavery in America, 2017).
Don t think it stops there, fast forward about 100 years later to the Civil Rights Movement.
Southern states created the Jim Crow laws prohibiting blacks from using the same bathrooms,
schools, busses and even theatres as white people. They were by no means equal. This led to many
protests, such as the march on Washington on August 28th 1963, where Martin Luther King Jr.
made his famous I Have a Dream speech. Soon after, President John F. Kennedy passed The Civil
Rights Act of 1964, banning segregation and racial discrimination in the work place and in
education. Following this, came the Voting Rights Act of 1965, allowing black men and women the
right to vote. Clearly, throughout history, Americans have struggled with racism, and it s not over (
Civil Rights Movement, 2017).
In addition, white privilege dominated the United States since the beginning of the new world.
White privilege from the past is hard to define, as it really was a belief, not a concrete concept.
Simply put, it was the belief that everything in this world, economic, social, academic, and
historical, belonged to people

Women and gender In 20th Century America
Abstract
Paid work for women moved from principally customary female situated employments to all the
more non conventional and already male arranged vocations. Ladies support in the workforce
prompted them to start careers in the field dominated by male in the 20th century. Career yearnings
were affected by elements, such as sexual orientation, financial status, race, occupation and
instruction level, and parental desires. This paper exhibits how women developed, changed and the
challenges they faced in the 20th century in America in the workforce and the advancement of
ladies careers, improvement and profession goals during the 20th century in United States. Also,
gender issues affecting women will be discussed in details during this period and how women
played their role in fighting for their rights.

Film Analysis Of Amour Essay Theme
Hiroshima Mon Amour was directed by Alain Resnais and had a script written by Marguerite
Duras, who was an author and gave the film a book like feel. This made you feel as if you were
reading a story, one of the best ways this is conveyed is through the voiceovers she has. The film
takes place in a time period of a post war HiroshimaJapan, and the setting, as well as the time
period, plays a major part in this film, by showing the audience views a war torn country as it
rebuilds and rebrands itself. As well as how those affected remember or forget the tragedy that
shook their city. The main themes explored in this film are the relation of memory and

And do we also have a duty to keep these events alive so that we pay respect to the ones that lost
their lives? War is a complicated topic, and the basis of memory and forgetting resonating
throughout that makes it even more of a difficult subject. Can remembering events cause more
harm if we are not remembering the events in the full effect, and how do we differentiate our
personal feelings from just laying out the facts of what actually occurred? In reality everyone
experiences war and tragic events differently. and there is no clear way to remember those events.
However trying to understand the aspect of memory and forgetfulness, is very well explained in
this film and brings light to just how confusing the subject war and everything that comes along
with it can be.
Most individuals do not want to remember tragic events, but what if tragic events make it hard to
remember, or make it difficult to chose what you want to remember? According to the scholarly
journal over History, Memory, and Forgetting translated by Sheena Caldwell, states that
individuals do not have a full control over their memories and those memories can be impulsive.
Because tragic events are removed from selective memory, which means you are unable to control
what you remember. This could explain why she had a breakdown in the bar when she tried to

The Sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic
On April 14th April 15th the R.M.S. Titanic struck a 2,000 ton iceberg off the coast of
Newfoundland in the North Atlantic Ocean. There are many questionable reasons to as why the
Titanic sank, but there are always the basic ideas. Scientists have theories, but not everything has
become proven facts except that the ship did hit an iceberg. The R.M.S. Titanic was affected by
weather, design of the ship, or even simple human mistakes. Some speculation about the weather
has existed ever since the R.M.S. Titanic has sunk. Some believe it was tides, temperature, or
even mirages across the ocean, but let s dig a bit deeper and find what makes these conclusions
become reasonable explanations. On January 4, 1912, three months before the Titanic set sail, a
solar eclipse occurred. The moon came closer than it has ever been to Earth in 1,400 years, and
Earth made its annual close distance to the sun. The last time this had ever happened was in 796
A.D., and the next time this will occur is the year 2257. When this eclipse happened, it made the
tides change in drastic measures. On the banks of Greenland floated a 2,000 ton iceberg. Due to
the tide changes, this 2,000 ton iceberg split in half, resulting in a 1,000 ton iceberg that gets sent
off southward. Coincidentally, the iceberg ends up off the coast of Newfoundland in about 3
months. Usual travel time for icebergs that far is 5+ months. Where this iceberg ends up, is right in
the Titanic s path on April 14th. Was this fate, or

Why Can Hipsters Be Considered A Counterculture
Hipsterism has become an extremely popular counterculture in society. According to Zev Borow,
the hipster culture primarily focuses on individuality , uniqueness , and free thinking (Borow).
Hipsters have also been known to have a passion for music, food, social life, and style. Although
hipsters are often misunderstood to some people in society, they love what they do and have fun
while doing it which is what matters the most. The hipster counterculturehas had a huge impact on
society by providing a platform for people to express themselves.
The modern day hipster movement became popular in the early 90 s (Smith). This counterculture

The fact that the hipster counterculture was created for those who don t fit in or feel they don t
acquire a sense of belonging in a typical mainstream culture says something in itself (Mckenzie).
One big reason as to why hipsters has since become popular is because they provide a safe haven
for those who are fond of individuality and for those who don t affiliate with the mainstream
crowd. Giving them freedom to freely express themselves without societal pressures on them.
Due to the hipsters reject to traditional society, many critics have now attached negative
connotations to the word. Making anybody who claims to be a hipster looked down upon.
Since then society has viewed hipsters as arrogant, [demanding] and direct people that nobody
like to associate with (Mckenzie). Along with that hipsters are also viewed as people who give
off the vibe that they just don t care (Fletcher). Although, critics give hipsters many negative
feedback, when you get to know a real hipster and not some poser, they are actually down to
earth, expressive people (Mckenzie). The hipsters way of life is different from the norm making
it more comfortable to people. Not always trying to fit in and trying to be updated is a big stress

differently towards the newly released convict even though they might of known the person before

Some challenges are to choose where he or she would want to live under this if the person was

Auto Industry in Canada
To fully understand why Canada is one the wealthiest nations in the world, we need to pay
particular attention to Canada s economic history. The economic history of our country has been
marked by many important events that have paved the way for a successful economic future. A
brief economic history of Canadawould pay particular attention to important events such as the
economic boom of the 1920s, the dark times of the 1930s; the Second World War during the 1940s

The increase in employment contributed to an increase in the lifestyles of Canadians. Also
government revenues increased with the expansion of the automobile industry. They had to find a
way to maintain the roads therefore licensing and gas fees were introduced. The automakers did
not only increase the lifestyle of the people in the southern provinces but they had a big impact on
the western provinces also. Agriculture was one of the many industrial sectors that benefited from
the automakers. With cars being built it was now easier for the farmers to sell their products in the
market. They now had a more comfortable way to travel and this made their jobs easier. Also the
introduction of the farm tractors was a big help in the agriculture industry. The farm tractors
increased crop quantities and livestock volume. The tractor was a great invention as it was more
efficient and less time consuming.
One of the negative impacts of the automobile industry in Canada is that of the regional economic
imbalances between the provinces. With the manufacturing being heavily concentrated in Ontario,
the other provinces of Canada do not get the same economic output as Ontario does. Ontario is
considered by far the wealthiest province. The province generates almost 50 percent of Canada s
GDP which translates into a staggering 675 billion dollars. Many

The Fission Theory
An object of fear is one that isn t understood, however, how is one to understand when one doesn t
even know the object s origins? To understand an object that was created far before any other being
is simply impossible; when one is so determined to understand something, we create theories that
will satisfy our tasteless fruit of a mind. When one looks up at the night sky and ponders about all
but our beautiful and unique moon, how foolish must they be? The moon is our tide keeper, the
stabilizer of all that is in this world, yet the common person will look past it and instead look at the
stars! The stars are nothing in comparison to our beautiful moon! Oh, misunderstood moon, fear not
anymore! For all the lies told about you are finally being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most popular theory of the moon s origin is the giant impact theory; this theory is that a giant
mars sized space rock struck young earth and knocked a chunk of it out. This theory proves to be
fallacious because, no scientist knows where that mars sized rock is; however, the earth and the
moon are made with very similar elements (Editor). The fission theory is another theory that
doesn t quite make sense in the eyes of science; the fission theory states that the earth was
spinning a rapid speed and a chunk of the earth broke off and now that chunk is called the moon.
This makes no sense because if the earth was spinning that fast before, it d be likely that more
pieces would come off. The theory of which that should be accepted in the eyes of science is the
capture theory. The capture theory is that there was this rock wandering through space and then got
caught in the earth s orbit. This theory proves to be more understandable because the moon has a
different chemical compound than the earth. The moon has had her woes brought forth, now the
human race must choose for ourselves and ask this question: what truly happened to the moon? To
that I say that one must decide for themselves. Let them believe what they want to

Gender issues have recently hit the surface pretty hard and has made life changing impacts,
nationally. Some political topics have been on same sex marriage and restrooms for transgendered
students. The nation is divided in regards to gender issues. The recent awareness has forced the
government to step in and back up laws that are for and against these issues. Analyzing our lives

Her interviews are of 42 people with different races, social economic backgrounds, homosexuals
and heterosexuals of children. As Kane begins her book, she goes in depth of the study and
what she proposes with her findings. First, she takes a stand that gender is a social term and not
biological as I have always looked at it. Gender and power also are found to be related as agreed
with Kimmel s textbook, The Gendered Society. He mentions only white people in our society
have the luxury not to think about race every minute of their lives. And only men have the
luxury to pretend that gender does not matter. She is able to grasp a stand from her interviews
and is able to explain how females are socially excluded by the way the parents treat them and
how this has led to a larger social problem with gender discrimination that includes wage gap and
even domestic violence. Males have seemed to benefit from the power that has been given to
them by society who engages in the marginalization of women. Now, it seems males are heavily
burdened when it comes to the talk about gender differences. Chapter 1 includes the pre birth
stage of gendering children. After I told my family we were having a female they threw me a
surprise baby shower that included everything pink, so before she was even born she was given a
gender. All the parents were able to say what gender they preferred for their child and why. The
reasoning behind the gender preference can be very exciting and

The Importance Of Religion And Politics In Bangladesh
Religion and politics are interdependent from the beginning. Political and religious power are
interconnected. In 1905, the separation between state and religious institutions occurred. But, that

important part in the political system. Religioninfluence the politicsfrom the core. Religion is a
mandatory part of politics which cannot be replaced (Fox, 2013).
Religion has not only influence over our political aspects but also in our social aspects too. More
accurately, religion has more influence over our social life than political. Religion is an element of
social control. As Karl Marx has said, religion is the opium of mass people (Eggers, 2015).
Through socialization process a human being entangled in the chain of Social control. It is a

an individual his or, her place and marks their limitations. Religion just make those implementations

preserve the traditions as they were and control the society (Liska, 1992).

Firstly, 3 500 4 000 jobs were created through this project, thereby boosting the local economy.
Secondly, Lesotho s infrastructure improved immensely, because roads were needed to transfer the
different machinery and so roads were made on the mountains and building housing for villages.
Disadvantages Social
Firstly, the Lesotho Highlands Water Projectagreement requires that South Africa would continue
importing water from Lesotho even if local dams were full, therefore rising costs would make it
more difficult to get water supply to many townships. Secondly, A quiet and isolated mountain

Explain Why My Religion Does Not Control Me
My religion does not control me. The authors E.L. Doctorow, Rushdie, and Paul who wrote in part
of Corinthian all have written that debate against one another. Doctorow is an American author is
well known for historical writing and wrote about how America is not full of infidels. Rushdie is
an atheist who had a bounty on his head from the Islamic state for years; he is known for his
writing against religion. Paul wrote the first epistle of Corinthian, which was directed towards the,
the church of God, in Corinth, Greece; he wrote about how love has do with the individual not
God. These authors contradict each other s claim: Doctorow disproves Rushdie s claim with

Doctorow claims the people of the United States want religion because it is an escape from
society s issues. In addition, the word infidels means one who doubts or rejects central trends of
one s religion, but this word is used more towards Christianity and Islam. However, the United
States is made of many different religions that people look over, such as: The Shakers,
Swendenborgians, and Adventists. Due to the religious freedom in America the nation is filled
with a variety of praying, singing and studying that are practiced by millions. Because of these
varieties, many religions developed in the U.S such as: Mormonism, Christian Science and
Native American Anthropomorphism. It s not about the United States being full of infidels it s
about how the United States decided to keep religion and politics separate. A lot of what
Doctorow mentions goes against what Rushdie ideas of religion are. Rushdie mentions in a
sarcastic way that victors of war can t be close minded because they have God on their side.
Basically, saying that those who believe in God tend to be close minded. In addition, Rushdie
things freedom is restricted by religious rule. Doctorow argues that a country that has freedom of
religion gives people the freedom to believe and not believe in anything they want; without the
pressure of religious control. On the other hand, having freedom of religion in a country allows
people to have an open mind by accepting

Data Quality As Crime And Crime
In our continuing state of shrinking government operating budgets, crime scientists and crime
analysts need to consider the interrelatedness of spatial and temporal shifts in crime patterns when
creating, tracking, and handling crime hot spots. Many studies indicate that crimes are clustered at
the neighborhood level, but the entire neighborhood is rarely (if ever) criminogenic and only
specific parts of neighborhoods contain high concentrations of crime
CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

The study of crime traditionally involved disciples such as psychology and sociology (George,

2.2History of GIS and Crime The use of GIS in crime has been around for centuries with Dent
(2000) tracing the mapping of crime back to 1829, when Adriano Balbi and AndrГ© Michel
Guerry created choropleth maps showing the relationship between violent and property crimes
with education levels. As time went on sociologists from the Chicago School, Shaw and McKay
(1931) began to map crimes by their XY coordinates to show the geographic location to
understand the importance of the crime location. In the 1980 s the reduction in price of computers
meant it became more cost effective for GIS Applications (Longley et al, 2011). With the
introduction of the new GIS technologies, the ability to use police records within the GIS
applications allowed for crime and intelligence analysis (Radcliff, 2004). These days the
advancements in technology and the reductions in cost has resulted in GIS applications moving
from the backroom computer analysis tool to be used by almost every discipline, from criminology
to healthcare, natural resources to economics. These advancements have not just been in the
applications but also in the science behind them. This has allowed for more advanced analysis,
which use well known mathematical models within their calculations, such as spatial statistics and

The Effects Of Nutrition On Health And Health
Health is a widely used term and every person s definition of health and being healthy can be vastly
different. There are many different ways to achieve good health and to be healthy, but one thing in
common that is important no matter what, is nutrition. Nutrition greatly influences our health and
can be detrimental in preventing or treating a disease. Prevention is crucial to stay healthy and free
of illness and disease and nutritionplays a huge part in this process. Nutrition is important in all
stages of life from pregnancy, birth, toddler, children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. Pregnancy
is arguably one of the most important phase in life, simply because a new human is being created.
It is important to start life off right and that can be achieved with proper nutrition.
Before a woman becomes pregnant, it is important to receive adequate nutrition. According to the
Maternal and Child Health journal, in order to ensure woman receive adequate nutrition advice in
time to make informed decisions regarding pregnancy, there needs to be further exploration into
effective nutrition education during preconception (Lucas, 2014). They also mention that nutrition
information received at 12 weeks is too late to be useful. Therefore, there are several factors to
consider even before conception. To start off, there are many deficiency problems that can arise
early in pregnancy and this can be prevented by receiving the adequate levels of folate the body

Analysis of Henrik Ibsen s Hedda Gabler
The unmistakable dominance of men during the nineteenth century is an influential factor in the
establishment of the central theme of Henrik Ibsen s play Hedda Gabler. Due to Hedda s lack of
independence, she develops a strong desire for control. The direct relationship between Hedda s
marriage with George and her sly, manipulative characteristics is manifested by Ibsen during the
work. Ibsen also exposes weakness in Mrs. Elvsted through her dependability on various male
characters for fulfillment in life. How do expectations of gender roles in the nineteenth century
affect plot scheme and develop a theme of male dominance in Henrik Ibsens Hedda Gabler? Deeper

Elvsted share for each other. The loss of the manuscript, after Hedda destroys it in a fit of raging
jealousy, signifies the death of Eilert and Mrs. Elvsted s child, as well as their relationship. The
catastrophe is too much for Eilert to handle, and Mrs. Elvsted fails to offer a voice of comfort.
Consequently, he takes his own life and destroys Mrs. Elvsted s hope for the future. Her
dependency on her first husband for financial support and then on her true love, Lövborg, for a
sensation of self worth reflects the view of women s helplessness during the nineteenth century. The
static character traits displayed through Mrs. Elvsted s constant reliance on male figures also
illustrate the lack of progress being made by women of the time. Ibsen s creation of female
inferiority through Mrs. Elvsted s failure of independence supports the preconceived notion of male
dominance. In addition, the shy personality traits given to Mrs. Elvsted effectively create a timid
female character with weaknesses regarding self esteem. The submissive statements from Mrs.
Elvsted s conversations with other characters exploit these weaknesses and allow other characters,
such as Hedda, to take advantage of them. Consequently, these opportunities for manipulation
dictate Hedda s actions and also the scheme of the plot. Commonly accepted terms representing
informality and casualty to a person are used more

Role Of Indians In Colonial American History
One may believe that the information in one s history textbook is accurate, but this is not always
the case. The definition of history is the study of past events, the branch of knowledge that records
and analyzes past events , according the Merriam Webster Dictionary. One may regard the native
Americans if we regard them at all as exotic or pathetic footnotes to the main course of American
history, according to Axtell. (Axtell, James.981) One may believe this because of what textbooks
say. When mentioning Indians, History textbooks often infer the Indians do nothing, resist... [or

Especially since the British had become more experienced as well in Scotland at the time in
counterinsurgent warfare. The Indians gave the colonist an opponent to perhaps train or practice on

undoubtedly different without the Indians to introduce the new fighting strategy known as guerrilla
warfare. It is possible this may have been helpful to the colonist when they won the revolutionary
war. (Axtell.994) Furthermore the economy would have been utterly different without the Indians
in place when the colonial Americans arrived. It is easy for one to see how the agriculture would
have been similar but not the same without the Indians. Axtell stated that the mainstay of colonial
life would have been farming either for family subsistence or for capitalist marketing and
accumulation. Because of the Indians existence before the Colonial Americas an extensive amount
of land was cleared by the Indians which made the farming process somewhat easier for the
Colonial Americas. The Indians were able to clear to clear the grub and make meadows and park

had done large corn fields and villages were formed. It was relatively easy for the colonist to obtain

Impact of JCAHO Standards on Job Descriptions
JCAHO STANDARDS FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Impact of JCAHO
Standards on Job Descriptions A job description is a written summary of the responsibilities
related to a specific job and the skills and knowledge necessary for discharging those
responsibilities effectively. The job description becomes a handy resource for human resource
professionals and departmental heads when recruiting new people to fill in vacancies as well as
for the purpose of evaluating performance. The job description is also an important component
of the job specification, a document that includes task requirements as well as a profile of the
ideal person for the job (Cascio 2003, p. 160). The job description developed in accordance with
the standards of the JCAHO should clearly mention the qualifications and competencies required
for the job. This is an important requirement of the JCAHO standards where the health care
organization is expected to derive the job description for each position on the basis of the care,
treatment and services requirement for the entire organization. Since the organization may invite
applications on its own or delegate the function to a third party, it is necessary that the job
descriptions explicitly identify and define the competencies required for the position. According to
Standard HR.1.20 the health care organization must ascertain that the right levels of competencies
as well as qualifications are available at each level (JCAHO, 2004). Therefore, the job

The Nuclear Of Nuclear Weapons
Before the Second World War, nuclear weapons did not exist. However, by the end of the
Second World War, this was not the case. The United States initiated a top secret program code
named the Manhattan Project. This project brought some of the greatest minds of the world
together with the goal of developing nuclear weapons. The United States successfully tested its
first nuclear bomb in New Mexico on July 16th, 1945. Three weeks later two atomic bombs had
been dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, the only use of nuclear weapons
in wartime. The atomic age had begun and the race to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful and
non peaceful purposes started around the globe. The United States was the first and only state to
posse nuclear weaponbut that has changed over the last seventy years. Currently the United States,
Russian Federation, United Kingdom, France, Israel, India, Pakistan, China and North Korea have
active nuclear arsenals. Attempts to limit, or stop the spread of nuclear weapons immediately,
emerged after the first tests in New Mexico. This paper will look at the effectiveness of efforts to
stop nuclear proliferationfrom a Liberal and Realist perspective, and will argue that Realism present
the more appropriate approach to the international system due to its explanation of anarchy,
cooperation, and power.

Plainchant Compare And Contrast
The plainchants Viderunt Omnes by Anonymous and O viridissima virga by Hildegard of
Bingen are both compositions that were created during the Medieval Age, also known as the
Middle Age. The purpose of these pieces were to be served usually in Roman Catholic Churches
as music of worship. Although these two songs are known as plainchants, meaning they are
usually monophonic and the melody usually does not change, both pieces have many similarities
and differences. In my personal opinion, I believe that these two piece are more different than
they are similar. For example, Viderunt Omnes is polyphonic for a majority of its duration
because it sounds to be sung in unison by a choir and not by a singular person. O viridissima virga

The MPA (Mega Project Agency) designs and implements the infrastructure projects in Kuwait.
In 2008 a new BOT (Build Operate Transfer) law was passed as Kuwait recognized the

Essay on Christian and Muslim Religious Tolerance
FWIS 104
Christian and Muslim Religious Tolerance
It is ironic that while they are based on similar scriptures, and therefore similar ideologies,
Christianity and Islam have had divergent attitudes towards the acceptance of religious minorities.
By its nature, the Christian faith antagonizes other religions, including Judaism and Islam, because,
according to Christian scripture, a lack of belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ results in damnation.
The Muslim faith, however, has a much more tolerant view on People of the Book, including
Christians and Jews, since such tolerance is stipulated by Islamic scripture. Subsequent treatment
(as opposed to acceptance) of religious minorities, however, was similar between followers of the

These taxes also served as an economic incentive for religious coexistence and toleration. In the
dhimmi system (which was in itself Islamic law that extended rights and protections to religious
minorities of the book ) it is stated that [the People of the Book] must be shown gentleness (page
4) as long as they have paid their tax in full. In the conquest treaty, the People of the Book are
even guaranteed religious freedom under the condition they pay the jizya. It states, Their churches
shall neither be used as dwellings nor destroyed... No constraint shall be exercised against them in
religion nor shall any harm be done to any of them. The restrictions against non Muslims were
typically mild. In the Shurut Umar, Christians were restricted from teaching or publicly expressing
their religion. Other secular restrictions (as opposed to restrictions on religious freedom
expression) include not seek[ing] to resemble the Muslims by imitating any of their garments (page
13) and not sell[ing] fermented drinks, both much milder alternatives to religious violence.
Likewise, there have been instances of Christians encouraging peace towards religious minorities.
For example, Saint Augustine cites a verse from Psalm 59 as his main inspiration for relative
tolerance: He is my God.

Great Recession Summary
The U.S. experienced a significant economic decline in December 2007. This was the Great
Recession. A recession is a huge drop in consumer spending that has a chain reaction of job lose,
and lower business income. It can be caused by an economic shock. And economic shock is
when products are priced more than their value. 8.8 million Jobs were lost within 2 years,
February 2008 2010. Unemployment was nearly 10% in October of 2010. Since 2012, GDP and
employment has made a very slow growth rate. The poverty rate increased to 12.5 % in 2007.
Many economists and even the Bureau of Economic Analysis had predicted the recession. The
confusion aspect of it was generally when the GDP lowers, one would assume a recession has
/will begin. In May 2008, the GDP was reported to be positive for the last two quarters. The

Thoughtful Reasoning For The Ultimate Punishment
Linda Chin
Mr. Hoague
AP Lit and Comp, Period 1
14 October 2015
Thoughtful Reasoning for the Ultimate Punishment
Only the most dangerous criminals in the world are faced with society s ultimate penalty, or at
least that is the theory. Capital punishment, commonly referred to as the Death Penalty has been
debated for many decades regarding if such a method is ethical. While there are large amounts of
supporters for the death penalty as a form of retribution, the process is avoidable financially as
taxing for all parties involved. The financial expenses may be better off saved for life imprisonment
with an emphasis in restorative justice for victims. Overall, there is unreasonable inefficiency with
the capital punishment to justify the taking of another person s life.
The death penalty process is often overlooked in the justice system and exhausts millions of
dollars on trials and repeals. Unlike countries with speedy execution processes, the U.S. judicial
system is known for having lengthy trials and judgement dates because of mandatory appeals.
Richard C. Dieter, Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center, briefly describes
the fundamentals of a death penalty case, Every stage of a capital case is more time consuming
and expensive than in a typical criminal case. If the defendant is found guilty of a capital crime, an
entire separate trial is required, with new witnesses and new evidence, in which the jury must
decide whether the penalty should be

  • 2. Erving Goffman s Presentation Of Self In Everyday Life Erving Goffman was a Canadian born sociologist and writer. He was made a president of the American Sociological Association. His best known involvement and contribution to the social sciences is his theory of symbolic interaction and dramaturgy, which began with his 1959 book The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life. This report explains that individuals have the ability to choose their stage, the character they play, and the costume they wear in specific social situations (Goffman, 1959). He also worked with the total institution model, and used it to construct his studies, mostly in Asylums. A total institution is a residence and workplace for similar people, who are cut off from the wider society for an amount of time, and who altogether, lead an enclosed form of life (Frank, 2002). This ties in with his next book about mental institutions, where he theorized that if people are treated, as they are a societal burden and placed in an institution with others, they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He describes how the institution associates people into the role of a good patient , who is someone that is blindly obedient, dull, harmless and inconspicuous (Goffman, 1961). He describes how the debilitating environment in the institutions affect individuals perception of self worth, no matter how therapeutic or non therapeutic a hospital and program is (Pilgrim and Rogers, 2008). People come from their own social frameworks, where they occupy diverse roles. When institutionalized, these individuals are stripped of their sense of themselves leading to what Goffman described as disculturation (Davidson et, al. 2011). Instead of treating mental health as an illness, disculturation leads to demoralization, deterioration, and leaves people virtually incapable of managing their own lives in the real world , which leaves them requiring to remain institutionalized (Davidson et, al. ... • 3. Becoming an Airline Pilot Essay Becoming an Airline Pilot If you have a love for the sky and aviation is one of your interests, you re not deterred from being in charge of at times more than 100 lives, and you have a soft spot for exploring the world than becoming an airline pilot is for you. Airline pilots have one of the coolest, most exciting nerve racking jobs out there. My goal for this paper is to explain all about how to become an airlinepilot, what it takes to become one, the facts about the job, and some pros and cons of being in the field. My interest in flying was harbored as a child during vacations, my mother is a flight attendant so we traveled often. Whenever entering an airplane I was at awe of the sheer number of controls in the cockpit and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Attending and completing college is also a good reflection upon yourself towards the airline, it shows you have a good work ethic and that you are willing to put in time and hard work to get where you want to be. The second way to become a pilot is completing courses at a technical school. Technical schools offer flight training courses towards a pilot s certificate, the same certificate you get when completing an aviation degree in college. Technical schools are often completed in a much shorter period of time and offer similar courses as a college, yet it is a more hands on approach to education. Unlike college, the training in technical schools can be more one on one which is good for anyone who has trouble adjusting to large class sizes. The final and most hands on way to get a pilot s certificate is by completing flight training at any local flight school. Although this is the most hands on way to get your licence it is usually the hardest. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration ) says that anyone trying to become a pilot must complete a minimum of 250 hours of flying before receiving their licence. At a local flight school it can cost you up to $80 an hour to fly a plane with an instructor making it very hard and very costly for people to obtain a certificate this way. Local flight schools have also been criticized for the degree of instruction they give to upcoming pilots. Before a pilot can begin training, the pilot needs either an up to date ... • 4. Writing On The Wall Research Paper Looking back, technology has always been a part of our culture. Over time it has just looked differently and it has changed in many ways. One of the main technological features, the Internet, or what it originally was referred to, the World Wide Web, has made the most significant advances. In 1992, researchers from the University of Illinois created a browser called Mosaic. It allowed a simple way to search the web. Once word got out Congress allowed for companies to use it for commercial use and its popularity just spread. Websites, blogs, business and social media have taken us over by storm. The transformation of digital television, laptops, and cell phones have also completely defined our culture and how we integrate into society. The internet has brought all cultural, socioeconomic and educational and business groups together, but not without a price to many. In the book, Writing on the Wall, by author Tom Standage, he uses many popular and unknown examples that date all the way back to Roman Empire times to present the theory that social media is nothing new. Social media is anything but a new phenomenon. People have shared... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though he failed at the goal that he supposed to reach and later to lose the life of Marriot, he continued looking for to solve his case. The fact that Marriot gave to Marlowe money at the beginning of the event of the necklace, it made Marlowe respect the ideology of being honest as an exceptional detective. Essentially, Marriot was the only character who gave money to Marlowe in the entire book. Neither, Malloy, Mrs. Grayle or Mrs. Florian gave any money to Marlowe. Even though, Malloy was the principal character who was looking for Velma, he never gave any amount of money, and Marlowe didn t care and he kept helping him until the end of his life. Although Marlowe knew that Mrs. Grayle was such a rich woman married to a powerful, ambitious and old man, he didn t ask her for any money. The Coke can is used to basically start the chemical reaction by the RCA cables that are put inside it which in return is still connected to the banana. Just like plugging the cables into a television, the red cable is usually used for right analog audio (the red goes in at the top end of the banana which is to the right) and the white cable is usually used for mono analog audio (the white goes in at the end of the fruit which is to the left.) The team used an iPhone because something electronic had to be used in this particular experiment to get the results that we were looking for so an iPhone was the chosen item. The iPhone charger is used to put into the Coke can while it is plugged into the actual iPhone to see if we get results or not; this determined whether or not the iPhone can be charged by a fruit. If the iPhone comes on, this indicates that it is charging through the chemical reaction and if it doesn t, this could possibly mean the chemical reaction wasn t strong enough, something went wrong during the procedure of the actual lab, and/or an ... The subject of this artwork is the scene from the emotionally autobiographical work of Dante Alighieri La Vita Nuova , at the moment of Beatrice Portinari s death, who the author loved deeply. Rossetti depicts the moment of Beatrice s death on her parents balcony in 1290, however, for the artist this scene means much more, than just a visual interpretation of a scene from a book. There was nothing to see besides the empty, looming trees on either side of the path and nothing to hear besides the constant crunch of dead leaves underfoot. Day after day, I marched aimlessly; however, I soon stumbled upon a divergent road. The contrast was astonishing. Where my current pathway was monotonous, the other was alive. Its trees were blazing with vibrant auburns and golds, and some of their leaves danced in the wind. Patches of daisies and dandelions peaked out from underneath piles of fallen leaves. I was entranced by the warm kiss of the sun, the rich smell of flowers, and the chatter of woodland creatures. It held a secret: the wondrous beauty of life. Although I was not sure what this trail would hold for me later on, I was eager to embark on this new journey. I started by letting go of the forces that weighed me down. With every burden I shed, the colors seemed to grow impossibly brighter. Finally, I was happily strolling down the path to who I would become. No longer was I pressured by others expectations. If Jackson did explain everything about the world of The Lottery, the reader would be too ensconced with reality while reading the story. Robinson points out inconsistencies in Justinian s descriptions of other subsections of obligations and other instances where substance was sacrificed for this symmetry. In this section, Robinson refers several times to places in which Justinian either follows Gaius example or breaks from it. She concludes with an analysis of the quasi delict and legal arguments for as to why it does not exist. Robinson concedes that the quasi delict in Justinian s system of using four subcategories of ideas likely makes it easier to teach legal concepts. The stars are nothing in comparison to our beautiful moon! Oh, misunderstood moon, fear not anymore! For all the lies told about you are finally being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most popular theory of the moon s origin is the giant impact theory; this theory is that a giant mars sized space rock struck young earth and knocked a chunk of it out. This theory proves to be fallacious because, no scientist knows where that mars sized rock is; however, the earth and the moon are made with very similar elements (Editor). The fission theory is another theory that doesn t quite make sense in the eyes of science; the fission theory states that the earth was spinning a rapid speed and a chunk of the earth broke off and now that chunk is called the moon. This makes no sense because if the earth was spinning that fast before, it d be likely that more pieces would come off. The theory of which that should be accepted in the eyes of science is the capture theory. The capture theory is that there was this rock wandering through space and then got caught in the earth s orbit. This theory proves to be more understandable because the moon has a different chemical compound than the earth. The moon has had her woes brought forth, now the human race must choose for ourselves and ask this question: what truly happened to the moon? To that I say that one must decide for themselves. As Kane begins her book, she goes in depth of the study and what she proposes with her findings. First, she takes a stand that gender is a social term and not biological as I have always looked at it. Gender and power also are found to be related as agreed with Kimmel s textbook, The Gendered Society. He mentions only white people in our society have the luxury not to think about race every minute of their lives. And only men have the luxury to pretend that gender does not matter. She is able to grasp a stand from her interviews and is able to explain how females are socially excluded by the way the parents treat them and how this has led to a larger social problem with gender discrimination that includes wage gap and even domestic violence. Males have seemed to benefit from the power that has been given to them by society who engages in the marginalization of women. Now, it seems males are heavily burdened when it comes to the talk about gender differences. Chapter 1 includes the pre birth stage of gendering children. After I told my family we were having a female they threw me a surprise baby shower that included everything pink, so before she was even born she was given a gender. All the parents were able to say what gender they preferred for their child and why. The reasoning behind the gender preference can be very exciting and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It states, Their churches shall neither be used as dwellings nor destroyed... No constraint shall be exercised against them in religion nor shall any harm be done to any of them. The restrictions against non Muslims were typically mild. In the Shurut Umar, Christians were restricted from teaching or publicly expressing their religion. Other secular restrictions (as opposed to restrictions on religious freedom expression) include not seek[ing] to resemble the Muslims by imitating any of their garments (page 13) and not sell[ing] fermented drinks, both much milder alternatives to religious violence. Likewise, there have been instances of Christians encouraging peace towards religious minorities. Capital punishment, commonly referred to as the Death Penalty has been debated for many decades regarding if such a method is ethical. Overall, there is unreasonable inefficiency with the capital punishment to justify the taking of another person s life. The death penalty process is often overlooked in the justice system and exhausts millions of dollars on trials and repeals. Unlike countries with speedy execution processes, the U.S. judicial system is known for having lengthy trials and judgement dates because of mandatory appeals. Richard C. Dieter, Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center, briefly describes the fundamentals of a death penalty case, Every stage of a capital case is more time consuming and expensive than in a typical criminal case. If the defendant is found guilty of a capital crime, an entire separate trial is required, with new witnesses and new evidence, in which the jury must decide whether the penalty should be ...
