Examples Of Diction In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography about his experience during the Holocaust when he was
fifteen years old. Elie is fifteen when the tragedy begins. He is taken with his family through many
trials and then is separated from everyone besides his father. They are left with only each other, of
which they are able to confide in and look to for support. The story is told through a series of creative
writing practices. Mr. Wiesel uses strong diction, and syntax as well as a combination of stylistic
devices. This autobiography allows the readers to understand a personal, first hand account of the
terrible events of the holocaust. The ways that diction is used in Night helps with this understanding.
Elie Wiesel uses words that are relevant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Never shall I forget that smoke.
Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into smoke under a
silent sky.
Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith forever.
Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams into
ashes.Never shall I forget these things, even were I condemned to live as long as God himself.
Never. (page 34)
Elie Wiesel has experienced a horrible tragedy. When he repeatedly says over and over Never shall I
forget... he emphasizes his fear of what he has seen. He drills into the reader how traumatized he is.
This creates sympathy and makes the reader feel worse for Mr. Wiesel. Dramatic irony gives the
reader an advantage over the characters. This form of irony is where the reader knows something that
the characters do not. (Poor father! Of what then did you die?) (page 11) During this scene in the book
Elie s father has given the news to the other Jews that they are all required to wear the yellow star. His
father said The yellow star? So what? It s not lethal... (page 11) This is ironic because the star is what
killed nearly all of the Jewish people. Hate killed a countless number of innocent people because of
their beliefs. This is the dramatic Irony. Everything that Elie Wiesel uses to create his autobiography
makes it more that just a page taught

Difference Between Mac And Pc
Difference between Mac and Pc
The world we live in today is getting very radical changes since the invention of computer. And from
time to time lots of changes have come in this field. Mac and Pc is the most popular computer. They
both have some different feature from each other in contrast software and hardware. Let s start with
knowing what exactly these two computers are.
Mac
Macintosh or mostly known as Mac was invented by Apple Company in January 24, 1984. Steve jobs
invented Mac, and since that the development towards its new versions continued and it has achieved
an unique basement in the modern technology of computers.
PC

While they both have the same internal parts such as the Ram, Processor, Hard Drive etc. the speed
and capacity of these components vary. Macs will generally outperform low end PCs, because the
Apple product lines typically boast more expensive and better quality parts. Comparing Macs with
higher end PCs is a little more difficult. Generally, though, Macs have faster processors than their
Windows counterparts but tend to skimp slightly when it comes to RAM, hard disk space and USB
ports.
The kinds of connections and optical drives found on Macs and PCs also differ in certain ways. Macs
offer a pretty standard selection of such features, including a SuperDrive (reads and writes CDs and
DVDs), audio in and audio out, USB, FireWire (data transfer), Thunderbolt (video output), Ethernet,
and a magnetized power port. PCs offer comparable features, plus a few more, like Blu ray players,
TV tuners, touch screens and HDMI ports.
Graphics: One of the most Attracted feature in any computer is the Graphics Hardwares and both Mac
and PC has filled up their customers desires. The Mac uses Intel Irish graphic. It gives high quality
multimedia experience. Some of pc company also introducing Irish graphics in their hardware. This
newest discovery of Irish Intel graphic is most powerful product of Intel, built right into the processor.

The Mythology Of The Greek Mythology
Nowadays people remember Ancient Greece somewhat, pieces here and there, taught briefly in your
common high school global history class. What most people often forget is that the Ancient Greeks
were and still are such a great influence towards our Western culture. Of course, they are not the only
ones who have contributed to our knowledgeable society. Though, when it comes to the category of
psychology I believe that the Ancient Greeks contributed the most, specifically with their mythology.
A myth is defined as a traditional or legendary story, collection, or study. It is derived from the Greek
word mythos, which simply means story. The Greek myths had many purposes to the Greeks such as
teaching a moral lesson, explaining the origins of the world, explaining the origins of the gods and
their relationships with humans, and why certain events occurred in nature. The authors of each myth
were said to be divinely inspired by the Muses. The Muses were the goddesses of artistic inspiration.
These Muses were thought to whisper in the ear of the author the adventures of the gods. Thus, myths
held a sacred place in ancient Greece as they were seen to be divinely inspired and were meant to
express an important message about life or the gods to the people.
Not only was mythology important to the Ancient Greeks, but forward a couple millenniums later and
a great psychologist was influenced by the importance of the myths as well Sigmund Freud. Freud was

distribution? The payments are all part of a liquidating distribution. According to the text, a liquidation
distribution is a single distribution or one of a planned series of distributions that terminates a partner s
entire interest in the partnership. Current distributions are all other distributions including those that
substantially reduce a partner s interest in the partnership. In accordance with the liquidation,
distribution laws Javier would have to recognize a gain of $20,000 at the end of the year as he only

How To Build Suspense In The Monkey s Paw
Nearly everyone has heard the phrase, Be careful what you wish for. These six simple words have
foreboding connotations, but are not taken seriously because granted wishes belong in legends.
However, those who read The Monkey s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs may reconsider the saying;
the story is terrifying, yet makes enough sense that the reader almost believes it. These traits terror and
near belief are signs of a horror story, but not the only ones. The Monkey s Paw is a horror story
because it meets the most crucial criteria for such a tale.
Suspense is essential to a horror story to keep the reader interested, and The Monkey s Paw has an
abundance of suspense. Much of the suspense comes from the question of whether the monkey s paw
will work, and how. Sergeant Major Morris, who gives the monkey s paw to the White family, tells
them the wishes come true in a way that might be considered a coincidence. Morris also says another
man had three wishes, and his third wish was to die. This shows the monkey s paw will not grant
wishes in a cheerful fairy tale way. Additionally, the reader has to wait almost half the story before the
monkey s paw clearly works. Suspense is also built on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An unnatural or paranormal component is also vital to a horror story. Well known horror novels from
many time periods, such as Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, Bram Stoker s Dracula, and Shirley Jackson
s The Haunting of Hill House, all have supernatural components central to their plots. The monkey s
paw is a supernatural element because it was bewitched by a fakir and had a spell put on it. It can
grant wishes and bring people back from the dead, so it does not follow the laws of nature.
Reanimated Herbert, who is never seen, but who knocks on the door, is also a supernatural aspect of
The Monkey s Paw because someone cannot really come back from the

Hamlet’s Astounding Success Essay
Hamlet s Astounding Success
What secret formula did the playwright William Shakespeare use in the recipe for the tragedy Hamlet?
Why, this play has been the rage for 400 years! Let s analyze the reasons for its success.
A.C. Bradley tells in his book of criticism, Shakespearean Tragedy, the extreme importance of the
character of Hamlet to the rating of the play:
Naturally then, the tragedy of Hamlet with Hamlet left out has become the symbol of extreme
absurdity; while the character itself has probably exerted a great fascination, and certainly has been
the subject of more discussion, than any other in the whole literature of the world. (94)
In total agreement with Bradley are other critics, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

There is no more exalted ranking than the above. Richard A. Lanham in the essay Superposed Plays
maintains that no other English tragedy has generated the literary comment which this play has
produced: Hamlet is one of the great tragedies. It has generated more comment than any other written
document in English literature, one would guess, reverent, serious comment on it as a serious play
(91). Robert B. Heilman in The Role We Give Shakespeare relates the high ranking of Shakespeare to
the innumerableness of the parts :
But the Shakespeare completeness appears graspable and possessable to many men at odds with each
other, because of the innumerableness of the parts: these parts we may consider incompletenesses,
partial perspectives, and as such they correspond to the imperfect (but not necessarily invalid) modes
of seeing and understanding [. . .] . (10)
Indeed, the reader finds a wide variety of parts from beginning to end of Hamlet. This is seen in the
fact of over 20 characters with speaking roles; and in their variety of occupations from king to grave
digger; and in the 20 different scene changes; and in the differentiation

The Long Term And Short Term Effects Of Grade Skipping Essay
The effects of grade skipping has been the focus of many researchers. Some want to find out if
students who skip a grade are more likely to have advanced math skills, and if that would result in
them going on to make contributions to the STEM field. Others want to know if and how it affects
other aspects of the student, such as their language skills. In these studies, researchers investigate
these questions to determine the both the long term and short term effects of grade skipping. Park,
Benbow, and Lubunski (2013) used the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth, a 40 year
longitudinal study, to determine if skipping a grade has long term effects on performance in STEM
fields. The main goal was to find if individuals who skipped a grade after identification at or before
thirteen years of age were more likely to receive advanced degrees and accomplishments in STEM
fields, reach those achievements faster than their peers who did not skip a grade, and were more
productive in their careers at midcareer. Participants were chosen from the first three cohorts of the
previous study, and were only used if they scored 390 or higher on the math subtest of the SAT. In the
present study, to determine the accomplishments of the participants, they were given surveys to
complete at age 33 that determined the degrees earned by each participant. Their names were entered
into databases to see if they completed a dissertation or master s thesis, and were also entered into

Burning Candle Lab
Purpose: To make observations about a burning candle in order to use the kinetic molecular theory to
explain how a candle works.
Materials: Wax candle, wooden splint, drinking straw, safety goggles, candle holder, matches
Method:
1. The required materials were selected and brought to the workstation.
2. A large diagram of the top 2 cm of the candle was drawn. The diagram was labeled with a brief
description of the wax
3. The candle was lit. The wax was observed at the wick.
4. The wooden splint was lit when there was a glowing ember.
5. The drinking straw was position horizontally, about 5 cm from the base of the flame. The flame was
blown out with a puff of air.
6. The wooden splint was moved to the smoke about 10 cm above the wick.
7. The candle was extinguished, the wax solidified and materials were cleaned up.

a) Firstly, the candle burns due to the reaction of hydrocarbons (wax) and oxygen, releasing carbon
dioxide and water. During combustion, the fuel must be vaporized to accommodate the high
temperature of the flame. As a result, the liquified wax travels up to the wick and transforms into a
gaseous state due to an increase in temperature. Moreover, the wax changes state due to the particles
gaining kinetic energy and losing potential energy; they lose their attractiveness and spread apart from
another, creating larger spaces in between. Furthermore, the solid wax around the wick also changes
state to a liquid due to the heat given off by the flame. As a result, the candle wax particles increase in
kinetic energy, spread apart, lose attractiveness and locomotion is gained, thus the solid wax
transforms into a

The New Science of Pseudoscience
Nineteenth century America was a tumultuous place, marred by war and suffering the growing pains
of both westward expansion and industrialization. The intellectual world was equally turbulent, as a
great battle of ideas challenged the foundation and morality of the institution of slavery. Pro slavery
advocates had to find new ways of justifying their beliefs in order to provide a different perspective
from which to view slavery, other than an economic standpoint. Southern society began to idealize
science as an indisputable vehicle of objective truth. The rapid advancement of scientific knowledge
lent scientists a halo, as they could claim neutrality and objectiveness. A scientist s word was law and
deemed worthy of imitation. Because of the belief that scientists were unbiased and impartial when
conducting research, scientists in the South attempted to legitimize pro slavery arguments by
providing pseudoscientific evidence proving the superiority of whites and the inability of blacks to be
self sufficient as freedmen. Dr. Samuel George Morton, a famous physician and researcher in natural
history, provided the South with flawed anthropological evidence in order to bolster the anti
abolitionist case. His universal acclaim for devotion to objective data allowed for his research to
become popular and widespread throughout the United States, especially the South. Dr. Morton s
study was based on his measurements of human crania. His collection of skulls was the largest in

Prepare the Scope and Objectives of the Risk Management Process section of the Risk Management
Plan based on the facts presented in the case study
Risk management process is an important aspect of the organization. There are various threats that
may impede the organization s success. For example, the scenario in the case study may make the
company lose a number of loyal customers; hence, reduction in sales revenue. The scope and
objectives of the risk management process should be in line with the overall risk management plan.
They are important elements in providing the guidelines for the management in the implementation of
the risk management plan. The main objective of the risk management process is to develop a method
to monitoring, evaluating, and managing the risks in the entire project life. Risks are usually uncertain,
and may have a positive or negative impact on the project objectives (Govori, 2012). With respect to
the case study, theft of customer data is a risk. It is uncertain, and gets the organization in a time that it
has not fully completed its risk management plan. The objective of the risk management process, in
this case, is to establish an approach to monitoring the customer use of credit cards, identifying the
authenticity of the transactions, and managing the use of the credit cards to avoid any fraudulent
activities.

Existentialism in Literature and Science
Existentialism is the philosophical approach or theory that emphasizes an individual s existence as a
free and responsible being determining his own development through acts of the will ( Existentialism
). What does that mean exactly? To make it easier to understand, that means humans as people are
shaping their own destinies with every choice they make. That seems quite obvious, but to further
understand the meaning of existentialism, it must be analyzed through the impacts it has had on both
literature and scientific theories alike. The literary movement of existentialism is seen heavily in Franz
Kafka s The Metamorphosis and Albert Camus The Stranger. In The Metamorphosis, the movement of
his existentialism is gradual. Gregor Samsa, the protagonist, hates his job and he wishes to be free of
all his social suffering. This is seen when he is transformed into a monstrous vermin (Kafka 3). His
transformation symbolizes him being free of the social afflictions but his human like qualities also
fade away and his meaning of life is taken away as well. Gregor now hardly ate anything anymore.
Only when he accidentally passed the food laid out for him would he take a bite into his mouth just for
fun, hold it in for hours, and then mostly spit it out again (45). After his family abandons him and he is
ready to die, there really isn t a meaning to life by that time. The Metamorphosis emphasizes that one
must interact with society in order for there to be a meaning to

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels Essay
Gulliver and the Grotesque
The term scatological means to have an interest or preoccupation with the obscene. In his book,
Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes
concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would
encounter in a cheeky T.V. show but has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary
trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective Swift employs scatology as a means of
satire. This invokes Swift s contemporary politics. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity,
balancing out the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. Realism in literature, refers generally to any
artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary
conventions, or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or
tendency in writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an
attempt to reflect life as it actually is. Swift uses the daily grotesque and bodily functions to both
connect his audience and provoke disgust in them. By employing a blasé attitude when using this
device, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. He
accomplishes this because the grotesque is simply an exaggeration of reality. Swift also creates the
character of Gulliver, a realist character

States 20 minutes before the assassination (Sarah Putt). Robert Rawls told a navy intelligence officer
that he overheard someone at a bar bet 100$ on Kennedy s death (Sara Putt). An ex CIA officer
believes the white house and the agency are actually concealing the most important documents (Sarah
Putt). The evidence suggests Oswald could have been part of a conspiracy, but the theory has not yet
been proven. The second theory is proven by the evidence presented by Sarah Putt which gives a
strong case and gives theorists a difficult challenge.
Lastly, even though JFK s death was tragic the puzzle left behind, it is one filled with twists and turns.
The 1st theory shows how the assassination could have been revenge for Fidel Castro. The 2nd theory
gives evidence that could suggest that Oswald could have been part of a much larger conspiracy. The
assassination of John F. Kennedy was a tragedy that set the nation in a period of grief and shocked the
world. These are just two theories how many could there be? Maybe the world will never know the
truth about this

Paley City
There is a strong connection between the senses and the formation of our perception. Traditionally, the
sense categories are known as sight, smell, sound, taste and touch. The modern perspective views the
senses as systems in which information about our external world is acquired; visual, auditory,
olfactory, gestation and haptic (tactile) systems. Architecture in the sense of environmental design is
the art of nourishing these senses. In order to receive information from the environment, each sense
organ is part of a sensory system which receives and transmits sensory information to the brain. How
the human body engages space is of prime importance; as the human body moves, sees, smells,

The smell receptors interact with the molecules of these vapors and transmit sensations to the brain.
We need only a little amount of molecules of substance to trigger an impulse of smell in a nerve end,
and we can smell more than ten thousand different scents. If it is a new scent it is possible to
remember the scent and identify it again later. The scent captures one s memory of the place; the nose
makes the eyes remember. For the blind people, the sense of smell can help awareness of one s
location. Odour can also relate to hunger and the desire to consume. Since it is not possible to name all
the odours, spatial qualities or experiences are often associated with scents. Positive experiences of
smell can be used in design to induce positive memories or associations to a space, while negative
smells can do the opposite. Bringing certain smells into a designed space can immediately stimulate
emotions, guide us, or distract us. Designer Valerie Trent cites research that connects smell and
memory; People can often recall aromas from childhood or a distinctive odor they ve only smelled
once. Whatever your particular nose prefers, smells do enhance comfort and

Essay On Mean Stack
MEAN stack A popular front end development tech stack Web Development technologies have seen
an exponential change recently. The development technologies have shifted from back end
development technologies like Java, PHP and others to front end technologies like Angular JS, Node
JS, React JS and others. Since their inception, these technologies have constantly been updated to
improve coding efficiency and reduce code size. MEAN stack is one such collection of technologies
that has helped in reducing the development time to a great extent. MEAN stack is a tightly coupled

The MEAN stack provides an efficient platform for building scalable software products. A large
number of additional frameworks, libraries, and reusable modules are available within the stack which
helps business achieve greater benefits when it comes to development speed. So by helping deliver
modern and readymade solutions which can significantly save time while making development less
strenuous, MEAN stack can be an excellent option for start ups due to its shorter development cycles
and lower development costs. Why MERN? The essence of the MERN stack is to build and deliver
websites similar to desktop and mobile apps. MEAN.Js is a platform that gives enterprises and
businesses the agility, performance and intelligence they need to drive their business forward. Because
users of the web demand high levels of performance and interactivity, so javascript is at the core of
many technologies. Javascript has become interface to the web. It has greatly evolved over the
decades. Today Javascript is not just about adding visual effects to websites infact its a lot more than
that and plays a role in implementing application logic and database access. MERN stack is also
carving out a small niche in the life of a software developer this is because of the advantage MERN
stack provides for developers. Yes every line of code is written in JavaScript thus eliminating the need
for context switching. Traditionally tech stacks had different programming languages being used

THE EMIC VERSUS ETIC DILEMMA IN CROSS CULTURAL MARKETING RESEARCH: A
PERSONAL CONSTRUCT THEORY PERSPECTIVE Richard E. Plank, Western Michigan
University ABSTRACT Cross cultural research in marketing, particularly involving the measurement
of behaviors and attitudes using methodologies which require the respondent to respond to scale type
questions, is difficult as well as time and resource intensive. A major issue is the so called emic versus
etic dilemma which focuses on whether or not the measure is culture bound (EMIC) or can be used
across all cultures (ETIC). This paper argues, based on personal construct theory, that behavioral type
measures or scales must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the construct is culture or time bound, that means that it may be inappropriate for the particular
culture as well as the time period in question. In the sociology literature Hage (1972) suggested that
such theoretical concepts as bureaucracy were either culture or time bound whereas the construct
degree of complexity was not likely to be time or culture bound. The second issue deals with the
operational definition of the theoretical concept. The question becomes do the indicators have
meaning to the respondent in light of culture and time. In other words, is this how the respondent
defines the construct in their own mind Just because a sentence or idea translates from one language to
another does not mean that the idea is the same for both cultures, or for that matter even among
different people from the same culture. Personal construct theory provides some insights into this
issue as well as some methods for establishing whether or not a measure is culture free. Hofstede
(1980) provides some additional interesting commentary on the general problem. He notes that
ethnocentrism is present in most measures used in cross cultural research, and thus instruments should
be developed cross culturally. In fact, he notes that ethnocentrism is common not only in research
design and instrumentation, but also in data collection and in

A Review On Prediction Of Chatter Stability
A REVIEW ON PREDICTION OF CHATTER STABILITY IN HIGH SPEED MILLING
V.Manoj kumar, R.K.Naveen, A.Ragavesh
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore 22
Abstract: This paper reviews on the various analyzing techniques of chatter stability in high speed
milling. Milling at high spindle speed is an effective technology for processing various materials.
During milling, unstable self excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter can occur, causing
excessive tool wear or failure and a poor surface finish on the machined work piece. There are several
analyzing techniques that are used to increase the stability of the machining process such as, fuzzy
arithmetic techniques, stability lobe diagram(SLD),Structural dynamic modification. Based on these
analyzing techniques how the operating variables are changed to obtain the different predicted results
is studied.
Keywords: chatter, spindle speed.
Introduction: High speed milling is extensively used in manufacturing process. The generation of
complex shapes with high accuracy and quality is the main advantage of milling process. In a real
world setting there are many variables that influence a machining process and each one can carry
small errors or uncertainties, which can lead to major deviations in the finished quality of fabricated
parts. It therefore becomes important to research novel models to account for parameter uncertainties
in order to develop more practical models.

A Tale Of Two Cities And The French Revolution
A Tale of Two Cities, was a story about sacrifice and revenge before and during revolutionary France.
Charles Dickens thought that if things did not change, then a violent revolution in England, similar to
the French Revolution, was possible or in the future. In A Tale of Two Cities , Charles Dickens
symbolizes the discord that the English and the French faced as he tears apart the two systems of their
society.
Charles Dickens, a brilliant author back in the 1850 s, wrote A Tale of Two Cities in order to describe
the similarities between the forces that led to the revolution and the oppression and unrest occurring in
England. The French revolution impacts history because the time period in which it takes place is
before and during the French revolution. The French revolution signifies the essence of a rapid
change, nevertheless, this change tore France right at the heart, where all the government was
functioning . France was torn apart because of the rebellions of the Bourgeoisie, against the rich
aristocrats, consequently the monarch Louis 14th. Charles Dickens went further. He conveys the idea
of the French revolution through the use of social reform along with its inevitable impact on the
individuals affected by the waves of change. Throughout history, the road to revolution is described as
an obsession to the minority group such as the American revolution in the late 18th century. It is
dangerous when a group goes down this road because the obstacle up ahead

Reflection Of Malcolm X s Autobiography Of Malcom X
Malcolm X (also known as el Hajj Malik el Shabazz) was born on the 19th of May 1925 in Omaha,
Nebraska and died on the 21st of February 1965 in New York. He was an American black Muslim
minister and a one time speaker for the National party of Islam. He also founded the Muslim Mosque
and the Afro American Unity which was an organization whose aim was to help black people. In the
autobiography, there are many episodes of his life but there are also many reflections and part of his
speeches, many focusing on white people. His opinion of the white part of the society is detailed and
precise and helps readers fully understand his ideas. Different racial representations can have different
types of languages depending also on the historical context in which the text(s) are set in. The
Malcolm X s autobiography is a great example of how language can change in different terms and this
will be discussed in this critical essay.
Malcolm X s autobiography represents white society in various different ways. The tone used when
referring to this race is usually ironic, the same he often used during his speeches that were directed to
people interested in race equality. Malcom X portrays the white part of society very differently from
the black one. For instance, the black part of the society is often treated in a better way, they are often
treated almost as a superior race than the whites because, reading this quotation, they ... Show more

an African American and so he was in a sense allowed to use them. Nowadays, in our society these
words cannot be used anymore. Interestingly, in the case of the whites, the words used can still be
used nowadays. This is because the word white is not considered racist since it is very simple and it
does not contain any diminutive or any type of insult like nigger or

An Outsider In The Outsiders
The Outsiders is one of the themes in the story. Looking at life as an outsider and the feeling of being
treated as an outsider is a point of view. Someone who always feels like an outsider might believe that
life is unfair. We as teenagers tend consider ourselves to be grown ups already, but in reality we are
still under the control of others and this loss of control leads to the feeling that life isn t fair. For
example, Ponyboy understands that he is not safe walking the streets alone because he could be
attacked by the way he is dressed; this makes him feel like an outsider in his own town. Ponyboy sees
unfairness every day. With his parents being dead, Darry is forced to work two jobs to support the
brothers, while Soda has dropped out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Family connections tend to be difficult, but in the Ponyboy`s family, the right to stay together is a
nonstop conflict. Since their parents death, Darry has taken the responsibility of guardianship for Pony

boys as siblings, but more as a responsibility. Darry sees Ponyboy s potential and has high
expectations for him, but Ponyboy complains that Darry is a stricter than his father. Although by the
end of the book he understands Darry. Gang relationships are included in the theme of family.
Ponyboy s gang members need the support and security that they find in the gang. The home life
circumstances that these boys find themselves in are usually abusive. They have resort to the gang for
the care and support that should have come from parents. Johnny is painfully aware of the difference
between the gang and a family and through him Pony begins to understand how lucky he is to have a
caring family. The third major theme that runs through The Outsiders is the use of a black and white
world. People have a tendency to embrace each other and events as absolutes. For example, The
characters in The Outsiders are either rich or poor, Socs or

Plate Tectonics And Its Effects On The World
Maybe the most ideal approach to see how Pinnacles started is to envision that you are viewing a
video shot somewhere in the range of 60 million years prior completion at the present time. Not
wishing to see something that is milleniums long, you accelerate the activity by keeping your finger
on the quick forward catch. Regardless. At last regardless you know the story all around ok to rehash
it.
Plate Tectonics
At the point when the video starts, the mainlands have the structure we know today; the vast majority
of the world s extraordinary mountain reaches are set up, and the Pacific Ocean is so far inland that a
large portion of California s beach front mountains don t exist. Yet, they are going to be conceived on
account of something many refer to as plate tectonics.
Geologists trust that the world s hull is isolated into huge plates that fit together like the bits of a
mammoth jigsaw riddle. These plates are thought to move persistently, for the most part on a level
plane. As per geologic hypothesis, the plates meet in no less than three ways, and two of these are
imperative to our story: subduction zones (where one plate moves underneath the other), and change
limits (where the two plates grind past each other). At some point around sixty million years prior,
when our video starts, the lighter weight North American Plate started abrogating or subducting the
denser Farallon plate, and as it did, its external edge went about as a bulldozer, gathering up

The Negative Effects Of The Shallowss
Throughout the book The Shallows, by Nicholas Carr, he explains the history of mankind and their
evolution of communications. As time progressed, humans forms of communication advanced from
pictures and hieroglyphics to spoken language to written language. As we created a form of written
language, Johannes Gutenberg was able to invent the world s first printing press. After this invention,
written pieces of information became able to be printed onto paper and bonded together to form a
book. Once books began being made, it allowed readers to begin reading in depth and start to
understand the concept that the book s author is trying to convey. But when the internet was
developed, it had taken a toll on individuals capability of storing long term memory and made humans
into people who are constantly distracted by the internet, lacking attentiveness and focus. The internet
and the way we chose to make use of it made us into shallow people. One of the internet s negative
effect on humans is that we are now incapable of storing long term memory. Before the internet was
incorporated into the daily lives of humans, they developed a habit of deep reading. As a result of deep
reading, people s extensive concentration was combined with the highly active and efficient
deciphering of text and interpretation of meaning, (Carr 64). Since deep reading called for much
needed concentration, deciphering, and interpretation, the brain of the reader was shaped into a literary

Marxist Reading Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
Written in 1962, Ken Kesey s One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest is a timeless classic. This novel has
been subject to analysis through many different literary lenses: feminist, Marxist, and of course,
psychoanalytic. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest provides a plethora of evidence when it comes to
using the psychoanalytic lens. The lens in question deals with the teaching of Sigmund Freud. When
reading this novel, the audience sees quite clearly that the world of psychology plays an impactful role
in One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest. This is demonstrated by the author s own experiences, the use
of mental illnesses, and the protagonist s return to sanity. The author of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s
Nest, Ken Kesey, based this novel largely on his own experiences. As stated by David Wright in an
article about Ken Kesey s life, Two of the clearest points of origin for the setting and events in One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest were Kesey s introduction to LSD in 1959 and the time that he spent
working at the Veterans Administration (VA) hospital in Menlo Park, California, in 1961 (Wright 3).
Kesey worked in the psychiatric ward at the VA hospital as a night aide, a job similar perhaps to that
of Mr. Turkle in the novel (Wright 3). The job allowed him time to observe the day to day operation of
a mental facility and granted him the opportunity to get to know some of the patients (Wright 3). After
spending so much of his time in the ward, he found that he was fascinated and

Plattsburgh Motor Service (PMS) s dual problem of stagnant sales and declining profits are normal
symptoms associated with the industry s current stage in the product life cycle which is the maturity

  • 2. Examples Of Diction In Night By Elie Wiesel Night by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography about his experience during the Holocaust when he was fifteen years old. Elie is fifteen when the tragedy begins. He is taken with his family through many trials and then is separated from everyone besides his father. They are left with only each other, of which they are able to confide in and look to for support. The story is told through a series of creative writing practices. Mr. Wiesel uses strong diction, and syntax as well as a combination of stylistic devices. This autobiography allows the readers to understand a personal, first hand account of the terrible events of the holocaust. The ways that diction is used in Night helps with this understanding. Elie Wiesel uses words that are relevant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Never shall I forget that smoke. (page 34) Elie Wiesel has experienced a horrible tragedy. When he repeatedly says over and over Never shall I forget... he emphasizes his fear of what he has seen. He drills into the reader how traumatized he is. This creates sympathy and makes the reader feel worse for Mr. Wiesel. Dramatic irony gives the reader an advantage over the characters. This form of irony is where the reader knows something that the characters do not. (Poor father! Of what then did you die?) (page 11) During this scene in the book Elie s father has given the news to the other Jews that they are all required to wear the yellow star. His father said The yellow star? So what? It s not lethal... (page 11) This is ironic because the star is what killed nearly all of the Jewish people. Hate killed a countless number of innocent people because of their beliefs. This is the dramatic Irony. Everything that Elie Wiesel uses to create his autobiography makes it more that just a page taught ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Mythology Of The Greek Mythology Nowadays people remember Ancient Greece somewhat, pieces here and there, taught briefly in your common high school global history class. What most people often forget is that the Ancient Greeks were and still are such a great influence towards our Western culture. Of course, they are not the only ones who have contributed to our knowledgeable society. Though, when it comes to the category of psychology I believe that the Ancient Greeks contributed the most, specifically with their mythology. A myth is defined as a traditional or legendary story, collection, or study. It is derived from the Greek word mythos, which simply means story. The Greek myths had many purposes to the Greeks such as teaching a moral lesson, explaining the origins of the world, explaining the origins of the gods and their relationships with humans, and why certain events occurred in nature. The authors of each myth were said to be divinely inspired by the Muses. The Muses were the goddesses of artistic inspiration. These Muses were thought to whisper in the ear of the author the adventures of the gods. Thus, myths held a sacred place in ancient Greece as they were seen to be divinely inspired and were meant to express an important message about life or the gods to the people. Not only was mythology important to the Ancient Greeks, but forward a couple millenniums later and a great psychologist was influenced by the importance of the myths as well Sigmund Freud. These six simple words have foreboding connotations, but are not taken seriously because granted wishes belong in legends. However, those who read The Monkey s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs may reconsider the saying; the story is terrifying, yet makes enough sense that the reader almost believes it. These traits terror and near belief are signs of a horror story, but not the only ones. The Monkey s Paw is a horror story because it meets the most crucial criteria for such a tale. Suspense is essential to a horror story to keep the reader interested, and The Monkey s Paw has an abundance of suspense. Much of the suspense comes from the question of whether the monkey s paw will work, and how. Sergeant Major Morris, who gives the monkey s paw to the White family, tells them the wishes come true in a way that might be considered a coincidence. Morris also says another man had three wishes, and his third wish was to die. This shows the monkey s paw will not grant wishes in a cheerful fairy tale way. Why, this play has been the rage for 400 years! Let s analyze the reasons for its success. A.C. Bradley tells in his book of criticism, Shakespearean Tragedy, the extreme importance of the character of Hamlet to the rating of the play: Naturally then, the tragedy of Hamlet with Hamlet left out has become the symbol of extreme absurdity; while the character itself has probably exerted a great fascination, and certainly has been the subject of more discussion, than any other in the whole literature of the world. Lanham in the essay Superposed Plays maintains that no other English tragedy has generated the literary comment which this play has produced: Hamlet is one of the great tragedies. It has generated more comment than any other written document in English literature, one would guess, reverent, serious comment on it as a serious play (91). Robert B. Heilman in The Role We Give Shakespeare relates the high ranking of Shakespeare to the innumerableness of the parts : But the Shakespeare completeness appears graspable and possessable to many men at odds with each other, because of the innumerableness of the parts: these parts we may consider incompletenesses, partial perspectives, and as such they correspond to the imperfect (but not necessarily invalid) modes of seeing and understanding [. . .] . (10) Indeed, the reader finds a wide variety of parts from beginning to end of Hamlet. • 9. The Long Term And Short Term Effects Of Grade Skipping Essay The effects of grade skipping has been the focus of many researchers. Some want to find out if students who skip a grade are more likely to have advanced math skills, and if that would result in them going on to make contributions to the STEM field. Others want to know if and how it affects other aspects of the student, such as their language skills. In these studies, researchers investigate these questions to determine the both the long term and short term effects of grade skipping. Park, Benbow, and Lubunski (2013) used the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth, a 40 year longitudinal study, to determine if skipping a grade has long term effects on performance in STEM fields. The main goal was to find if individuals who skipped a grade after identification at or before thirteen years of age were more likely to receive advanced degrees and accomplishments in STEM fields, reach those achievements faster than their peers who did not skip a grade, and were more productive in their careers at midcareer. Participants were chosen from the first three cohorts of the previous study, and were only used if they scored 390 or higher on the math subtest of the SAT. In the present study, to determine the accomplishments of the participants, they were given surveys to complete at age 33 that determined the degrees earned by each participant. Their names were entered into databases to see if they completed a dissertation or master s thesis, and were also entered into Google Scholar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... a) Firstly, the candle burns due to the reaction of hydrocarbons (wax) and oxygen, releasing carbon dioxide and water. During combustion, the fuel must be vaporized to accommodate the high temperature of the flame. As a result, the liquified wax travels up to the wick and transforms into a gaseous state due to an increase in temperature. Moreover, the wax changes state due to the particles gaining kinetic energy and losing potential energy; they lose their attractiveness and spread apart from another, creating larger spaces in between. Furthermore, the solid wax around the wick also changes state to a liquid due to the heat given off by the flame. As a result, the candle wax particles increase in kinetic energy, spread apart, lose attractiveness and locomotion is gained, thus the solid wax transforms into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My contribution to the teams I lead is very restrictive and task focused. This helps ensure team member s work is of the quality required, and complete on time. I tend to work to ensure everyone knows their position and what they need to do to complete tasks. My expert leadership approach brings my background experiences into the task at hand, and help my team members learn and grow. I tend to not be overbearing in the information presented but instead fill in when needed to give guidance to finish the task. I work closely with team members to get information to all involved. If conflicts arise, I will push to get the conflict eliminated through overpowering the situation with expert knowledge and experience. I have interest and determination in building relationships, working leadership from the individual and interpersonal level. I have little patience with individuals who are uncooperative or who create more work for the rest of us. I have excellent communication skills that will help me to foster my LDP. Both Miranda Priestly and the main protagonist Andrea Sachs simultaneously face different examples on how society views women as mothers more than working individuals. In respect to Miranda Priestly, she remains so consumed up with her work that she has gone through several divorces and suffers from one towards the end of the film. • 14. The New Science of Pseudoscience Nineteenth century America was a tumultuous place, marred by war and suffering the growing pains of both westward expansion and industrialization. The intellectual world was equally turbulent, as a great battle of ideas challenged the foundation and morality of the institution of slavery. Pro slavery advocates had to find new ways of justifying their beliefs in order to provide a different perspective from which to view slavery, other than an economic standpoint. Southern society began to idealize science as an indisputable vehicle of objective truth. The rapid advancement of scientific knowledge lent scientists a halo, as they could claim neutrality and objectiveness. A scientist s word was law and deemed worthy of imitation. Because of the belief that scientists were unbiased and impartial when conducting research, scientists in the South attempted to legitimize pro slavery arguments by providing pseudoscientific evidence proving the superiority of whites and the inability of blacks to be self sufficient as freedmen. Dr. Samuel George Morton, a famous physician and researcher in natural history, provided the South with flawed anthropological evidence in order to bolster the anti abolitionist case. His universal acclaim for devotion to objective data allowed for his research to become popular and widespread throughout the United States, especially the South. • 17. Existentialism in Literature and Science Existentialism is the philosophical approach or theory that emphasizes an individual s existence as a free and responsible being determining his own development through acts of the will ( Existentialism ). What does that mean exactly? To make it easier to understand, that means humans as people are shaping their own destinies with every choice they make. That seems quite obvious, but to further understand the meaning of existentialism, it must be analyzed through the impacts it has had on both literature and scientific theories alike. The literary movement of existentialism is seen heavily in Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis and Albert Camus The Stranger. In The Metamorphosis, the movement of his existentialism is gradual. Gregor Samsa, the protagonist, hates his job and he wishes to be free of all his social suffering. This is seen when he is transformed into a monstrous vermin (Kafka 3). His transformation symbolizes him being free of the social afflictions but his human like qualities also fade away and his meaning of life is taken away as well. Gregor now hardly ate anything anymore. Only when he accidentally passed the food laid out for him would he take a bite into his mouth just for fun, hold it in for hours, and then mostly spit it out again (45). After his family abandons him and he is ready to die, there really isn t a meaning to life by that time. In his book, Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would encounter in a cheeky T.V. show but has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective Swift employs scatology as a means of satire. This invokes Swift s contemporary politics. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity, balancing out the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. Realism in literature, refers generally to any artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary conventions, or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or tendency in writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an attempt to reflect life as it actually is. Swift uses the daily grotesque and bodily functions to both connect his audience and provoke disgust in them. By employing a blasé attitude when using this device, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. He accomplishes this because the grotesque is simply an exaggeration of reality. Swift also creates the character of Gulliver, a realist character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the construct is culture or time bound, that means that it may be inappropriate for the particular culture as well as the time period in question. In the sociology literature Hage (1972) suggested that such theoretical concepts as bureaucracy were either culture or time bound whereas the construct degree of complexity was not likely to be time or culture bound. The second issue deals with the operational definition of the theoretical concept. The question becomes do the indicators have meaning to the respondent in light of culture and time. In other words, is this how the respondent defines the construct in their own mind Just because a sentence or idea translates from one language to another does not mean that the idea is the same for both cultures, or for that matter even among different people from the same culture. Personal construct theory provides some insights into this issue as well as some methods for establishing whether or not a measure is culture free. A Review On Prediction Of Chatter Stability A REVIEW ON PREDICTION OF CHATTER STABILITY IN HIGH SPEED MILLING V.Manoj kumar, R.K.Naveen, A.Ragavesh Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore 22 Abstract: This paper reviews on the various analyzing techniques of chatter stability in high speed milling. Milling at high spindle speed is an effective technology for processing various materials. During milling, unstable self excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter can occur, causing excessive tool wear or failure and a poor surface finish on the machined work piece. There are several analyzing techniques that are used to increase the stability of the machining process such as, fuzzy arithmetic techniques, stability lobe diagram(SLD),Structural dynamic modification. Based on these analyzing techniques how the operating variables are changed to obtain the different predicted results is studied. Keywords: chatter, spindle speed. Introduction: High speed milling is extensively used in manufacturing process. The generation of complex shapes with high accuracy and quality is the main advantage of milling process. In a real world setting there are many variables that influence a machining process and each one can carry small errors or uncertainties, which can lead to major deviations in the finished quality of fabricated parts. It therefore becomes important to research novel models to account for parameter uncertainties in order to develop more practical models. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In A Tale of Two Cities , Charles Dickens symbolizes the discord that the English and the French faced as he tears apart the two systems of their society. Charles Dickens, a brilliant author back in the 1850 s, wrote A Tale of Two Cities in order to describe the similarities between the forces that led to the revolution and the oppression and unrest occurring in England. The French revolution impacts history because the time period in which it takes place is before and during the French revolution. The French revolution signifies the essence of a rapid change, nevertheless, this change tore France right at the heart, where all the government was functioning . France was torn apart because of the rebellions of the Bourgeoisie, against the rich aristocrats, consequently the monarch Louis 14th. Charles Dickens went further. He conveys the idea of the French revolution through the use of social reform along with its inevitable impact on the individuals affected by the waves of change. At last regardless you know the story all around ok to rehash it. Plate Tectonics At the point when the video starts, the mainlands have the structure we know today; the vast majority of the world s extraordinary mountain reaches are set up, and the Pacific Ocean is so far inland that a large portion of California s beach front mountains don t exist. Geologists trust that the world s hull is isolated into huge plates that fit together like the bits of a mammoth jigsaw riddle. These plates are thought to move persistently, for the most part on a level plane. As per geologic hypothesis, the plates meet in no less than three ways, and two of these are imperative to our story: subduction zones (where one plate moves underneath the other), and change limits (where the two plates grind past each other). As time progressed, humans forms of communication advanced from pictures and hieroglyphics to spoken language to written language. As we created a form of written language, Johannes Gutenberg was able to invent the world s first printing press. After this invention, written pieces of information became able to be printed onto paper and bonded together to form a book. Once books began being made, it allowed readers to begin reading in depth and start to understand the concept that the book s author is trying to convey. But when the internet was developed, it had taken a toll on individuals capability of storing long term memory and made humans into people who are constantly distracted by the internet, lacking attentiveness and focus. The internet and the way we chose to make use of it made us into shallow people. One of the internet s negative effect on humans is that we are now incapable of storing long term memory. Before the internet was incorporated into the daily lives of humans, they developed a habit of deep reading. As a result of deep reading, people s extensive concentration was combined with the highly active and efficient deciphering of text and interpretation of meaning, (Carr 64).
