Anne Frank s Time Of The Secret Annex
Anne Frank, born on June 12th, 1929, was a young Jewish girl that lived in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Anne lived a quiet life her small home with her father Otto, mother Edith, and her sister Margot. She
attended school, but was restricted due to her religious faith. Because Anne was Jewish, she was
unable to streetcars or any transportation, could only shop at specific times, and forbidden to attend
any form of entertainment. On July 19, 1942, her family moved to the Secret Annex, to protect
themselves from the Nazi soldiers (Anne Frank Book). Here they were joined by 4 additional people.
Three who were from the Van Pels, Augueste, Herman and Peter, who she referred to as Petronella,
Hermann, and Peter van Daan in the novel, and Fritz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, another psychological influence that affected Anne s interpersonal communication with
those around her is biological cycle. In the beginning of her time in the Secret Annex, Anne began to
go through puberty. I forgot to mention the important news that I m probably going to get my period
soon. I can tell because I keep finding a whitish smear in my panties, and my Mother predicted that it
would start soon (59) . However, given her difficult relationship with her mother, ...that s how her
heart sank when she realized there was no more love between us (95) , she was unable to tell her about
this new discovery. This is an example of how a biological cycle affected her interpersonal
communication with her mother.
Furthermore, another psychological influence was Anne s development of trust. When in the Secret
Annex, Anne and her family relied on a number of people, such as Miep, Bep, and those within the
Annex, to keep their location secret, and for protection. For example, Anne s opinion of Dussel
changed when she found out he was keeping food from the rest of them. It s absolutely disgraceful
that Dussel, whom we took in to save from the destruction, should stuff himself behind backs and not
give us anything (97) . In this instant, we can see that Anne lost her trust in Dussel. Later on, she
becomes bitter towards him, Mr. Dussel makes up everything as he goes along, and anyone wishing to
contradict His Majesty had better think twice. In Albert

The Growth Of Aquatic Moss Under Different Lighting...
Introduction: motivation: I have chosen to study the growth of aquatic moss under different lighting
conditions. The reason I have chosen this is because I have been maintaining fish tanks for a couple of
years now and have noticed that the plants grow different shades of green and at a faster or slower rate
depending under which light source they are placed. I chose moss as it is a common fast growing plant
that is quite hardy making it easier to see how the light effects it. I am interested to see the different
results as I would like to start growing more expensive plants and want them to grow under the best
conditions possible
investigative question: Aquatic moss grows at a faster rate under natural sunlight rather than artificial
light.
Aim: At what rate will aquatic moss grow under a pink uv light, blue uv light and natural sunlight.
hypothesis: Aquatic moss will grow at its quickest rate under a white uv light.
Literature review:
Lumens refer precisely to how much light a particular light source gives off, rather than how much
energy it produces. Easy plants 15 25 lumen per litre, medium 25 50 lumen per litre, advanced 50
lumen per litre. Have an equal spread of lighting throughout tank as it decreases as it gets near the
edges. Metal halide lamps produce the most light, closely followed by the modern high output LED
lights plus they are small so you can have lots of them close together. T5 and T8 bulbs both produce
the roughly the same amount of

The Evolution Of Eclipse 1. 1 )
Eclipse 1.0 is an open source project released on November 7, 2001. Eclipse is an integrated
development environment (IDE) for anything and nothing in particular. The framework for Eclipse is
modular and Scalable, rather than set of tools. It provided a component based platform that serves the
building tools for developers. Eclipse SDK is a proof of concept product. The proof of concept
product idea helps the developers to self host and build new customized versions of Eclipse.
The initial members of the Eclipse consortium were Borland, IBM, Merant, QNX Software Systems,

The extensible architecture is one of the keys to the successful growth of the Eclipse Ecosystem.
Companies or individuals could develop new plugins, and either releases them as open source or sell
them commercially. The Early Eclipse Architecture had the workbench as the most familiar UI
element for users to perform. The workbench consists of perspectives, views, and editors. Editors are
associated with the file type, so the correct one is launched when a file is opened. An example of view
would be the problems that indicate errors or warning in java code. Editors and views together form a
perspective which presents the tooling to the user in an organized fashion. The Eclipse workbench is
built on the Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT) and Jface. Widget toolkits are classified as native or
emulated. Unlike other computer languages such as C and C++, the first version of Java came with a
native widget toolkit library called the Abstract Window Toolkit(AWT). AWT was limited, buggy, and
inconsistent. Hence, a native widget toolkit was switched over to full featured emulated widget toolkit.
A native widget toolkit uses operating system calls to build UI components such as lists and push
buttons. Native widget toolkits are pixel perfect. The widgets look and feel like their counterparts in
other applications on the Desktop. Operating system vendors continuously change the look and enjoy
their changes and add various new features to

Basel Iii
Basel III is a global comprehensive collection of restructured regulatory standards on bank capital
adequacy and liquidity. It was developed by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision to
strengthen the regulation, supervision and risk management of the banking sector (bis.org, 2010). It
introduces new regulatory requirements on bank liquidity and bank leverage in response to the
financial downturn caused by the Global Financial Crisis. Stefan Walter, Secretary General of the
Basel Committee on banking supervision said in November 2010:
There are many factors that led to the build up of the crisis. At the top of the list is excess liquidity,
resulting in too much credit and weak underwriting standards. The vulnerability of the banking ...

3. Supplementing the risk based capital requirement with a leverage ratio
One of the primary feature of the Global Financial Crisis, as well as other previous financial crises,
was the build up of excessive on and off balance sheet leverage in the banking system. The force on
the banking system to reduce its leverage caused a forced decline on asset prices worsening the
feedback between looses, deterioration in bank capital and the reduction of credit availability. The
framework introduced a leverage ratio requirement, fixed at 3% (actuaries.asn.au, 2011), which aims
to constrain leverage in the banking sector, and introduce additional protection against model risk and
measurement error. This will help alleviate the risk of the deleveraging processes, which can damage
the financial system (bis.org, 2010). The introduced leverage ratio will be a reliable extra measure to
the risk based requirement.
4. Reducing procyclicality and promoting countercyclical buffers Procyclical amplification has been
one of the most threatening elements that caused financial shocks throughout the banking system,
financial markets and the economy during the Global Financial Crisis (bis.org, 2010). The Committee
introduced a number of measures which focus on procyclicality and increase the resistance of the
banking sector. These measures will help ensure that the banking sector absorbs shocks instead of
transmitting them to the financial system and the economy. One

Film Analysis Of Okja
Okja Imagine being a caretaker and companion to a pet for years and then suddenly having it stolen
away by a meat packing corporation for the sole intention of slaughter and use of its meat. In Okja
(pronounced OAK JAH) , a science fiction/drama film directed by Bong Joon ho, this is exactly what
occurs. For ten blissful years, young Mija has formed a strong bond with Okja, a massive pig and an
even bigger friend, at her home in the mountains of South Korea. This completely takes another route
when family owned multinational conglomerate Mirando Corporation takes Okja for themselves and
sends her to New York city, where an image obsessed and self promoting CEO has vicious plans for
Mija s gentle companion. With no distinct plan but a single minded goal, Mija sets out on a rescue
mission. This film was recently released on June 28th, 2017 on Netflix, and just in the span of weeks
it has left an immense effect on people worldwide. The arrival of this outstanding film at this
particular moment in time, gives it an added sense of significance to the current crossfire between
animal activism, corporate greed and scientific ethics. Okja is worth watching because of its action
packed events and valuable lessons. As a science fiction/drama film, Okja provides all elements of the
criteria. It includes special effects, animation, and issues that are relevant to the real world, thus
leaving the audience to question their actions. It also includes humorous moments throughout the plot

Why Is John Stevens Unjustified
On January 17, 1893, the Hawaiian Kingdom was overthrown by the United States of America. A
storm had broken out, and a group of American men took control of the Hawaiian Kingdom. This
group of men, called the Hawaiian League would ultimately take over, and overthrew the Hawaiian
Kingdom. When the McKinley Tariff was signed, this allowed all imported sugar into the U.S. tariff
free. This worried many foreign sugar businessmen that sugar would not thrive in Hawaii anymore.
Many businessmen thought annexation would be a solution to help boost sugar again. The overthrow
of the Hawaiian Kingdom was unjustified, because of the unlawful acts by Minster Stevens, and the
Hawaiian League. A man named John Stevens assisted the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom
illegally, by bringing American troops, and machinery to the Iolani Palace. The day, January 16, 1893,
is the day that Stevens brought 162 armed sailors, and marines. This is going against the law, because
the international law says that using armed troops on an independent nation is illegal. In addition,
Stevens is a minister. He has no power to summon American troops, and bring in the USS Boston
(Potter, Kadson, Rayson). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Visual Inspection With Acetic Acid (VIA)
1.9.3. Visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA): Visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) is a simple,
inexpensive test, with moderate sensitivity and specificity for screening that can be combined with
simple treatment procedures for early cervical lesions (59). Visual inspectionis direct visualization of
the cervix after application of a solution of either acetic acid 3 5% (VIA) or Lugol s iodine (VILI). A
result is obtained immediately and treatment can be performed at the same setting. In visual inspection
with acetic acid (VIA), CIN lesions will turn white for a few minutes after application of acetic acid.
The effect of acetic acid depends on the amount of nuclear proteins, and cytokeratins present in the
cervical epithelium, which increases in CIN. (60) Scaling up and inclusion of VIA based ... Show

True And False In Alan Turing s Life
In the movie The Imitation Game there were many factors of the movie that were true and false in
Alan Turing s life. Although, most of his work is shrouded in mystery, we still have quite a bit of
history on the man. Firstly, in the movie, we are showed that Alan has feelings for his dear friend
Christopher and that Turing attends an all boys academy. This, in fact, is true. Christopher did
genuinely exist and the school at which they attended was called Sherborne School in Dorset. In the
film we learned that Alan Turing was a homosexual, scared and closeted about his true identity. Once
more, this is another true fact. Unfortunately, Turing was in a time period where being gay was a
disgrace and outlawed in England. He was convicted in 1952

conditions are harsh, male and female ground squirrels still undergo reproduction and produce

A Way Of Rewarding America s Tipping Culture
Teachers, police officers and doctors all help society be safe, healthy, and educated. They do all of this
and get paid for it. One of the things they have in common is that they don t have to work for tips.
Imagine a world where you tip your teacher after they showed you how to solve a math problem. It
would be ridiculous to tip your teacher for them doing their job. We wouldn t treat professionals like
this, so why do we treat waiters and waitresses like this? With our current way of using tips as a way
of rewarding the server is degrading because they are experts at serving multiple people a day and
they are paid low wages with an insignificant amount of tips for their professionalism. America s
tipping culture has been around for a long

Stephen Crane Essay
amp;#9;Stephen Crane was one of the United States foremost naturalists in the late 1800 s (
amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.). He depicted the human mind in a way that few others have been
capable of doing while examining his own beliefs. Crane was so dedicated to his beliefs that one
should write about only what they personally experience that he lived in a self imposed poverty for
part of his life to spur on his writings (Colvert, 12:108). Crane s contribution to American Literature is
larger than any one of his books or poems. All parts of Crane s life greatly influenced, or were

After leaving Lafayette, he moved on to attend Syracuse University, where he also played baseball,
and wrote for his brother s news service (Colvert 12:102). It is said that Crane wrote the preliminary
sketch of his novella, Maggie, while at Syracuse. He eventually decided to quit school and become a
full time reporter for the New York Tribune ( amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.).
amp;#9;Crane began his writing career in poverty, hoping that it would inspire him to write. Along
with his beliefs in Darwinism, he drew much if his influences from his religious beliefs (Colvert
12:108). Famous writers such as Hamlin Garland, William Howells, Rudyard Kipling, and Tolstoy
also influenced him (12:101). The first of his stories was Maggie, which was very unpopular (

international fame. The Red Badge of Courage showed Crane s views of life as warfare in a book that
is basically plotless. It is about a young soldier, Henry Fleming, and the emotions that he experiences
during wartime ( amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.). Crane s most famous work of poetry was Black
Riders, which appears to have little or no outside influences (Quartermain 54:106). Black Riders was
also an attempt by Crane to get rid of his thought that God was vengeful and wrathful (Colvert

Joseph Stalin And The Mensheviks
The Russian Revolution, specifically Joseph Stalin, and Mayas Rasoki a Hungarian Prime Minister,
created very similar situations in the ways that they affected the people living in the areas, and how
they maintained their power through the fear of the people. The Russian revolution was started from
the horrible impacts that World War I had on Russia. Due to the high taxes, dearth of food, and chaos
in Russia the workers began a strike. The Czar lost power and two opposite groups formed, the
Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. Due to their differences, a civil war broke out and the Bolsheviks, the
communists, won. A Bolshevik by the name of Joseph Stalin took over and wished for Russia to have
rapid industrialization. This lead to different forms of violence but Stalin did not care. Then Stalin
began the purges which were very similar to what occurred before the Hungarian Revolution. Stalin
decided he needed to rid of anyone, including the government, who were not enthralled with his ideas.
He even executed Sergei Kirov a popular party Chief and a member of the Politburo. He then arrested
hundred of thousands of people, even from the communist party, and sent them away never to be
heard of again. Then he began to hold show trials in Moscow, where he put senior advisors of the
government on trials and arrested their families and then put them on trial. He said they committed
crimes , which really were not, and 3,600 were executed. Stalin ruined families and many lives of

The Golden Age of Athens
The Golden age of Athens
Fifth century Athens refers to the Greek city state of Athens in the period of roughly 480 BC 404 BC.
This was a period of Athenian political hegemony, economic growth and cultural flourishing formerly
known as the Golden Age of Athens or The Age of Pericles. The period began in 480 BC when an
Athenian led coalition of city states, known as the Delian League, defeated the Persians at Salamis. As
the fifth century wore on, what started as an alliance of independent city states gradually became an
Athenian empire. Eventually, Athens abandoned the pretense of parity among its allies and relocated
the Delian League treasury from Delos to Athens, where it funded the building of the
AthenianAcropolis. With its enemies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The magistrates
The magistrates were people who occupied a public post and formed the administration of the
Athenian state. They were submitted to rigorous public control. The magistrates were chosen by lot,
using fava beans. Black and white beans were put in a box and depending on which color the person
drew out they obtained the post or not. This was a way of eliminating the personal influence of rich
people and possible intrigues and use of favors. There were only two categories of posts not chosen by
lot, but by election in the Popular Assembly. These were strategos, or general, and magistrate of
finance. It was generally supposed that significant qualities were needed to exercise each of those two
offices. A magistrate s post did not last more than a year, including that of the strategoi and in this
sense the continued selection of Pericles year after year was an exception. At the end of every year, a
magistrate would have to give an account of his administration and use of public finances.
The most honored posts were the ancient archontes, or archons in English. In previous ages they had

Author Bart D. Ehrman on Scriptures
What does it mean to question the authenticity and originality of a religious scripture? Is it a life
changing question? Yes, it absolutely can be a life changing curiosity leading to a long journey of
research. As it was the case for Bart D. Ehrman. Ehram a less devout episcopal Christian who
converted to evangelical Christianity, in an essence, re embraced the religion at a young age and
started studying Christianity. His education started off at Moody Bible Institute and the Wheaton
College and later received his PhD in New Testament studies. During his studies, Ehram developed a
particular interest about infallibility and inerrancy of the Christian scripture. In a quest of finding
answers for his questions about Scripture he wrote a book Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who
Changed the Bible and Why. The main thesis of the book reads The book is about ancient manuscripts
of the New Testament and the differences found in them, about scribes who copied scripture and
sometimes changed it. This may not seem to be very promising as a key to one s own autobiography,
but there it is. One has little control over such things . The book is a very readable, accurate
condensation of many of the most important facts about the nature and history of textual criticism. A
critical review of the book demonstrates that Ehram almost absolutely proves the thesis statement of
the book.
Ehram has written the book in a plain language for an audience with no prior knowledge of the history

Public Relations ( Pr )
2.0 Introduction
Public Relations (PR) is a multifaceted function that plays a role in nearly every organisation in today
s society (Wilcox et al., 2013). Due to its complex nature, the definition of PR has changed
considerably over the past 70 years (Ledingham Bruning, 1998). This report aims to analyse how PR
can specifically support the DMD Foundation to achieve its awareness and fundraising objectives. A
common definition of PR will be examined, breaking down its key elements, followed by a discussion
regarding the overarching role of PR within organisations, specifically in the non profit sector,
highlighting the positive impact that PR could have on the DMD Foundation.
Discussion
3.1 Defining Public Relations
The subsequent definition aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key elements
involved within the functions of the PR sector.
Public relations is the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies
and procedures of an individual or an organisation with the public interest, and plans and executes a
program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance.
(Public Relations News, as cited in Grunig Hunt, 1984)
PR as a management function serves to promote the importance of PR departments within an
organisation (Gordon, 1997) and brings to the decision making table theories born of ongoing research
and data to drive organisational decisions (Smith, 2014). For example, modern PR is

Women s Role During The American Revolution
Solomon devoted some consideration to political issues. Women s role was continually questioned
during the American Revolution, when women expressed competency in many roles. While some
females joined the war as undercover spies or soldiers, other women established activist groups to
protest, campaign and raise funds. Solomon considers this war to be the opportunity for women to
demonstrate their abilities in public and private spheres that could have implications in the latter
movements. After the revolution, more women were contemplating their suppositional capacity to
develop and elevate individually and subjectively. The prevailing stereotype at the time was daughters
to be notable as housewives upholding the colonial tradition of piety, modesty, frugality, and fertility.
This mindset laid the foundation to slow the progress to reshape the female status after the revolution.
Although the revolution expended constitutional advancements on voting, marriage and divorce, not
all the republic benefited the new laws. Of note, New Jersey passed a law in 1787 that gave the right
to all inhabitant of the proper age and property qualifications to choose and vote, until an election
fraud causing the law to take a step back to its original parameters, allowing only white male at the
age of twenty one with money and clear estate to vote. Additionally, the republican idea persuaded a

From the makers of Bridget Jones s Diary and Notting Hill, the film Love Actually is a romantic
comedy about igniting laughter, wrecking havoc, breaking hearts, daring commitment and forcing

Love and relationships in modern society means a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In
my views, it is an intense affectionate concern or an intense sexual desire for another person. It is a
term of endearment and a strong fondness or enthusiasm for something. A stereotypical view of
contemporary love exists, which is based principally on gender, social class and race. In Love
Actually, Huge Grant, who is the prime minister, falls in love with his secretary; Martine McCutcheon.
This contrasts with the stereotype regarding social background, as Huge Grant is of a much higher
status than Martine McCutcheon in the film. The title of the film automatically reveals various types
of love, with the emphasis on actually. I think this suggests that the views of love and relationships
portrayed in the film are the views of contemporary love. In the title of the film, Love Actually, the
word Love is highlighted in bold and is red. Stereotypically, red is the colour of love, which is
probably why this colour was used. The soundtracks for both trailers are very different. The first

The History of Film Noir Essay
The History of Film Noir
Film Noir literally means Black Film . This term was first coined by French film critic Nino Frank,
who noticed a trend in the darkness of themes in many American films that constituted wartime
cinema.
Classic film noir developed during the 1940 s during and after World War two, taking advantage of the
post war zeitgeist of anxiety, pessimism and suspicion. Mistrust, fear, paranoia, and bleakness is
obvious in noir, it reflects the cold war period when the threat of nuclear annihilation was ever

Kinetic Energy Lab Report
Speed, height, and mass do affect kinetic energy. In our lab work, we had to do multiple tests by
dropping a can onto a clay ball. We wrote down our data to prove that speed, height, and mass affect
kinetic energy. This is the lab data explained.
In our first lab, we had to drop different masses of cans from a height onto a 3cm clay ball and see
how much it got squished. Our data consisted of dropping a 418g, 227g, 624g, and 425g can from
30cm to a clay ball. For example, with a 418g can, the ball was squished down to 2.7cm while a 227g
can squished a ball down to 2.9cm. This shows that the larger mass of the can, the more the clay got
squashed, so the more mass the object is, the more kinetic energy takes place.

Introduction: In this paper we will be discussing the topic of doping in relation to sports. Doping in
sports refers to when an athlete takes performance enhancing drugs to help them get ahead in the game

they will be explained further throughout the paper. We will also look at coaches and how they react to
their players doping, the risks and effects of doping and the laws and policies surrounding the culture

Example Of Biblical Worldview
What is a worldview?
A worldview is a framework, so to speak, that provides a person with a set of beliefs that shape
behavior. A worldview is the set of glasses by which one views the world and the issues that are a part
of it. This lens provides the individual with a perspective that will think critically on societal, cultural,
or moral issues from that specific worldview s vantage point.

What is a Biblical Worldview?
A Biblical worldview is a worldview based upon the evident truths outlined in the Bible. It begins
with the eminent truth that God is the Creator. God was, is, and always will be. He is the utmost,
sovereign King, and He reigns above all. Through this, though, there is a timeline that helps to outline
and justify a biblical worldview. These three keywords are: Creation, Fall, and Redemption. In a
biblical worldview, Creation is done only through God. This six day process is outlined in Genesis and
shows how the skies and the seas and the birds and the animals came to be. The most significant is the
creation of mankind. Breath was breathed into Adam and all men are created, therefore, in God s very
image. This instills the intrinsic value by which Christians stand by. As time goes by, man fails to live
in accordance to the Creator s perfect paradise. The fall occurs when Eve, Adam s

The Film, Rhymes For Young Ghouls
In the film, Rhymes for Young Ghouls, Mi gmaq filmmaker Jeff Barnaby uses film syntax (mise en
scĂšne, montages, diachronic shots, synchronic shots, and cutting) to assist him in telling a tale about
the historical violence done to Indigenous men, women, and children by the Canadian government and
the residential school system (Boo 220). The purpose of the film Rhymes for Young Ghouls is to bring
awareness to a wider audience who may or may not be aware of the violence inflicted on Indigenous
people, violence that was sanctioned by the Canadian legislation and state (Boo 211). In the film,
Barnaby illustrates how non Indigenous men were not concerned with gender when beating an

Joseph takes responsibility for Popper s death, saving Aila and the boy from prosecution, giving them

Curley s Wife Description
Throughout most of the book Curley s wife strikes us as a compelling and riveting character as we
initially see her as a wicked character till those few seconds before she dies where you think, hey she
might not be so bad after all. In the novel of Of mice Mice and men Men Curley s wife s image is
portrayed as a very sexual, flirtatious, cheeky and desperate. Steinbeck uses specific words, sentences
and techniques to create the image of Curley s wife as one that is very contrasting. Steinbeck creates
contrasting representations of Curley s wife using the phrase and the meanness and planning and
discontent and the ache for attention with were all gone. The juxtaposition of the two phrases is used
to show the reader that all her bad qualities and all her obnoxiousness has all been washed away and it
has disappeared into thin air and we actually start to somewhat feel pity for this character that we had

The Death Of Romeo And Juliet s Death
Once upon a time there was a boy named Romeo and a girl named Juliet, who lived separately but
loved each other dearly. This story is about a boy and a girl whom their families hated each other
deeply and they were enemies because they always fight with each other. The end of this beautiful
love ended in tragedy with the death of the two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Many people
had different opinions about who to blame for Romeo and Juliet s death. Some of them said that the
environmental factors (fate) caused their deaths. Others said that the authority Figures was blamed for
their deaths. Part of people were blaming Romeo and Juliet (themselves) for their death. Actually, all
of these statements blame for Romeo and Juliet s death and there are a lot of evidences that would
support my opinion. One of the causes that lead to Romeo and Juliet s death is the environmental
factors (fate included). Environmental factors have been about the time that they were living in, the
feud between the families, and destiny. The feud of the families caused their death because if the
families weren t enemies, then, they won t get married secretly, or god had chosen for them this life. I

used is the economic advantage. This is the most obvious, according to the author is if the technology
can provide an economic advantage, society would more readily support it. The wheel was used as an
example in Native American society, compared to industrial nations, it was not as valued
economically due to the lack of domesticated animals. The second factor that the author list was the

Similarities Between New York City And Annie Hall
Location as identity, the absurdity and necessity of love, as well as individual perception of one s past
are all recognized as complex ideas portrayed throughout the nonlinear storyline of the 1977 film,
Annie Hall.
New York city is Alvy Singer, while Los Angeles is Annie Hall. Woody Allen identifies the main
characters with their geographical locations throughout the film. Native to the city, Alvy is a
pessimistic, neurotic, death obsessed, socially cold, yet highly intellectual, Jewish comedian who fails
to succeed in love. Alvy s character symbolizes the life, culture, intellect and energy of the city he
calls home. New York is the main characters comfort zone, and when he is not there his nervous
idiosyncrasies are evident. The location identifies as the antithesis of what Alvy perceives Los Angeles
to be, a superficial cultureless void. It is apparent to the audience that Alvy thinks condescendingly of
anywhere that is not New York. His character is comparable and regarded as a stand in for Woody
Allen himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

prostitution took its lead in Times Square. Additionally, the US economic stagnation of the time frame
took as major toll on the city due to the fall of trading on the New York Stock Exchange. This is

prevention or minimization of problems caused by conditions of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular,
cardiovascular, pulmonary, or integumentary systems (APTA, 2016). One of the less conventional
physical therapy treatment options is hippotherapy, also called equine assisted therapy. Hippotherapy,
as defined by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, is the use of

The Importance Of My Passion In My Life
Life is a lot more enjoyable when you have a passion for something. Whether it be sports, art, singing,
dancing or playing an instrument. In some cases, people grow up and find their passion when they are
many years older. However, that is not the case for me. I found my passion in the most random way.
Choosing to play trumpet at middle school registration was the best decision of my life. It took my
mind off of the hard times, it brought me and is still bringing my biggest achievements, and it gives
me more joy than anything else in the whole world. For the past couple of years before I turned
twelve, I d been watching my cousin Brady be very successful through music and playing the
saxophone. I have memories of going to his band concerts seeing him in the jazz band playing solos
and in the concert band playing classical music. I wanted to be just like him. Flash forward to sixth
grade registration... I d woken up that day imagining playing the first note on my shiny, new
saxophone (inspired by my cousin) later in the afternoon. The day went on, business as usual... Until it
was time to make my final decision at my new middle school. After the question was popped What
instrument would you like to play? My whole world stopped. Everything was going in slow motion. I
had a vision of myself; I was holding a trumpet. I then walked over to my parents bed, and as loud as I
could... I played the army reveille to wake them up. It was decided, I was going to play the trumpet! I

Money Can t Buy Happiness
A 2010 study conducted by Princeton University s Center For Health and Well Being threatens to
discredit the age old adage that money can t buy happiness because, as it turns out, money can buy
happiness...at least to an extent. The study isolated a so called happiness benchmark for annual
income, at or above which research subjects reported higher levels of overall life satisfaction. A
possible ramification of the study is that because certain groups of people have more difficulty finding
and maintaining job positions that provide an adequate salary, they are much more likely to experience
lower overall life satisfaction, and by extension happiness, purely as a result of their heritage or
upbringing. Although a substantial income alone cannot make you happier on a day to day basis, those
able to attain an annual income of $75,000+ are generally more satisfied with their lives altogether.
The Price of Happiness: $75,000?
The Wall Street Journal observed that in the Princeton study, the participants life satisfaction was
directly linked to their income and how they measured their life in comparison to others, but when
participants evaluated their inner life, their income had far less of an impact on their perceived
happiness (Frank). Psychologist and Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman, who helped to pioneer the
study alongside Princeton economist Angus Deaton, noted that What [researchers] didn t know before

Disadvantages Of Grameen Bank Model
In terms of Models, MFIs can be classified as lenders to groups or as lenders to individuals. In India,
MFIs usually adopt the group based lending models, which are of two types:
(i) The self help group (SHG) model and
(ii) (ii) The joint liability group (JLG) model.
Under the SHG model, MFI lends the loans to a group of 10 20 women as a whole. Under the SHG
bank linkage model, an NGO promotes a group and gets banks to extend loans to the group. Under the
joint liability models, loans are extended to, and recovered from, each member of the group. The most
popular JLG models are Grameen Bank model and the Activist for Social Alternatives (ASA) model.
Most of the leading MFIs in India follow a hybrid of the group models.

Freedom And Responsibility In Lord Of The Flies By William...
Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are
frightened of responsibility. Once said Sigmund Freud the father of psychology. People have been
blessed with freedoms and generally say that they want to be more free , but what they don t
understand is that freedom is responsibility. Being free means that the individual is responsible for his
or her future and most people are scared of that. However, both freedom and responsibility are often in
conflict, they can contradict each other when viewing certain topics. Even though a comparison of
freedom and responsibility reveals several similarities there are also a considerable number of
differences when parenting a child, exercising free speech, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When it comes to parenting, parents should be responsible with how they raise their child. It is
important for the parents to teach their child age appropriate skills so the kid can act independently.
More importantly, it is their job to provide a safe environment for their kids to foster their child s well
being. In the story Lord of the flies by author William Golding, the author shares his thoughts in a
unique way by telling a story where children got stuck on an island having the freedom to do anything
they like. The children lost their sense morality and became savages; the story shows how children can
be if left uncared for. The freedom of free speech can be abused when people are not responsible for
their actions. Individuals have the right to say what they want but in limits that abide the countries
laws, and to avoid disrespecting other people. Furthermore, spreading hate speech against certain
groups is not considered free speech anymore, it is just slander. Additionally, people have to watch
how far they stretch the term free speech and be responsible with it. Most of the choices people make
affect themselves so they should be responsible for what choices they make. For example, if an
employee wakes up one morning and decides to not go to work this morning. He should be
responsible for what comes next, either calling in sick or even getting fired from work. To be
responsible for our choices is dealing with what happens after making a wrong decision or taking in
the credit or the approval after doing a good

Basic Recommender System Techniques For Creating A New...
Several ways have been proposed for combining basic recommender system techniques to create a
new hybrid system. The earlier survey of hybrids approaches [40] identified seven different types such
as weighted, switching, mixed, feature combination, feature augmentation, cascade and meta level
[114]. A weighted hybrid recommender is one in which the score of a recommended item is computed
from the results of all of the available recommendation techniques present in the system [40]. The
score of different recommendation components is combined numerically. Weighted combination
model which implements collaborative and content based methods separately and combines their
predictions with giving adjustable weight to both recommendation [50, 115].The benefit of a weighted
hybrid is that all of the system s capabilities are brought to bear on the recommendation process in a
straightforward way and it is easy to perform post hoc credit assignment and adjust the hybrid
accordingly [40]. Liu et al. [116] proposed another hybrid recommendation system to deal with the
problems of content based, demographic filtering and collaborative filterings, such as sparsity and
scalability. To resolve the sparsity problem, blanks in the user item rating matrix are ïŹrst ïŹlled with a
weighted average rating on items which a user has rated, where the weight of the rated item is
calculated by the similarity between an unrated item and the rated item in their feature values. Then,

Heart Rate Anticipatory Response
Heart rate anticipatory response this is where the heart rate starts to automatically increase before you
start to exercise. The heart rate is able to increase automatically by chemical hormones, the hormones
are adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones are found inside the brain. The reason the heart rate
increase before exercise is because it prepares the muscles for exercise, the reason it prepares the
muscles for exercise is because by the heart rate increase the more oxygen is getting to the muscles
there fore they will not be needing a such a large oxygen supply all at once. It doesn t only supply
oxygen it supply s nutrients, the supply of nutrients also provides energy and helps to repair the
muscles after exercise. By the heart rate starting to increase gives the heart a head to start pumping
hard this enables the heart to not have as much stress on it.
Activity response activity response is when your brain can start to sense cardiovascular activity. The

vessels constrict together instead of being relaxed. This happens during exercise because that s when

The research questions are why is Gardasil such a controversial topic and why can t the debate on if
Gardasil is safe, on what age it should be given, and how successful it would be when administered be
settled? The research was conducted to answer these questions because Merck, the maker of Gardasil,
presented this vaccine as the first vaccine to prevent HPV and cervical cancer in girls but there was no
real solid proof that the vaccine was successful since Merck and the FDA (Food and Drug
Administration) approved the vaccine a year before the results/data on the vaccine s safety and
efficacy became available. Likewise, researchers were trying to learn if Merck s claims of one less life
being affected by cervical cancer with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel like the article should have talked about both sides of the debate because, despite people s
personal beliefs/feelings on Gardasil, the vaccine does work, just not on everything that the company
is advertising that it does. It does not prevent cervical cancer mainly because with the way the lesions
of cervical cancer are (CIN 1 3) the lesions hardly ever develop into the other two lesions known as
CIN 2 and CIN 3. This article was completely against the vaccine but it provided plenty of proof and
detail to back up why Gardasil should not be required, especially because research has proven that a
pap smear can do more for women when it comes to cervical cancer than Gardasil can. I like the
article overall, and it helped me understand a little more of what Gardasil can or cannot do. However,
I feel like the article could ve been dumbed down some just because I never even heard of CIN lesions
before and so I felt like they should ve explained a little easier and in simpler terms of what these cells
are, otherwise those without any medical background/schooling would not follow too well with the

Hernan Cortes Essay
Hernan Cortes
Myths are hangups from way back :[1] false or highly inaccurate beliefs that are taken at face value.
One collection of myths which has exercised a powerful grip on the minds of many, and contributed to
feelings of inferiority on the part of large numbers of pure or mixed descendants of Native Americans
in the region of northern Mesoamerica,2 has to do with the conquest of the Aztec Empire by
HernanCortes and his followers in the early sixteenth century. This paper attempts to shatter one of
these myths; namely, that Cortes was an extraordinarily brave and intelligent individual who
accomplished an almost miraculous feat. It will do so by making use of the twin concepts of virtu and
fortuna.
These two terms are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both decisions were based on his ignorance of the actual power of the Triple Alliance and the
confederation of Tlaxcallan.[7]
Cortes underestimated these two because of his early experiences in Mesoamerica. Although they
initially tried to avoid confrontations with the native communities, the Spaniards had to engage in
several battles against a coalition of Maya armies near Potonchan (located in the present day state of
Tabasco). However, they were able to win these battles thanks to the superiority of their weapons and
military tactics.
The outcome of these skirmishes was quickly known! by the Triple Alliance. As a result, when Cortes
arrived in the region of Totonacapan, this alliance opted in favor of a strategy of deterrence rather than
war. Envoys sent by Tenochtitlan established contact with Cortes and presented him with a series of
lavish gifts that were meant to indicate the might of the Triple Alliance.[8] However, the strategy
backfired because Cortes was unable to grasp the symbolism of the gifts and interpreted them as a sign
of weakness. Moreover, the great quantity of gold given to the Spaniards made them all the more
determined to reach Tenochtitlan.

Electronic Archives And Its Impact On The Guide
These days, static archives have been utilized effectively as a part of different programs and interfaces
as curio for getting to multimodal data. Most existing works and assessments are focused on static
reports utilized as a part of the manifestation of enlarged paper. This segment does not condense the
totality of these works, but rather just exhibits late and huge examines. RASA (McGee et al. 2000) is a
situation that enlarges guide paper with Post it notes and is utilized as a part of military summon posts
for field preparing activities. Clients collaborate with nature with voice charges or by composing
images on notes, which are deciphered by a motion recognizer. RASA s inputs are visual data
anticipated on the guide. Utilizing increased guide papers presents different focal points, for example,
cooperation between clients, heartiness of the framework, clients acknowledgement, and so on. In the
Books with Voices (Klemmer et al., 2003, and Soro et al., 2004) undertaking, printed books are
enlarged with standardized tags, which are perused so as to play relating oral histories on PDAs. This
undertaking is established on the perception that few antiquarians, albeit discarding both printed report
and audiotapes, want to inquiry data in the transcript, on the grounds that it contains page numbers,
lists, and so on. Criticisms of students of history included in the assessment were eager. Listen Reader

Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the application form that students must
complete to qualify for financial aid such as grants, loans and work study. Colleges use the report to
determine what aid the student qualifies for in order to put together a financial aid package. President
Obama has proposed to join with states to eliminate tuition and fees at community colleges
nationwide. The U.S. Department of Education s National Center for Education Statistics shows that
approximately seventy percent of undergraduates received some type of student aid during the 2011
12 academic year. Both Republican and Democratic members of Congress have recently simplified
the FAFSA form; it is fairly simple to complete and is available

Origins of the French Revolution
Both Bossenga and Andress offer interesting and well supported perspectives on the origins of the
French Revolution and the reasons it came about. Bossenga purports that the public fervor of the time
had little to do with the actual revolution, other than providing bodies for insurrection. Rather, the
institution of the royal state was an inherently flawed one by the reign of Louis XVI, to the extent that
only a full revolution would effectively produce solutions to the problems of the ancien regime.
Andress places a greater emphasis on the will of the people as an effective mechanism for change. His
belief is that the French Revolution offered an effective convergence of enough political, social and
economic turmoil to incite a popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This created group individualism which meant that the nobility, among other groups, unified to protect
their privileges, despite royal attempts to fracture the group. Through this concept, and the negative
interactions with the crown, the foundation of a revolution based on equality was born.
The traditional court of Louis XVI presented a serious barricade to reform on the eve of the
revolution. Starting with Louis XIV, it became the ultimate symbol of royal authority, and blurred the
line between the political and familial within the court (Bossenga, 1301). Furthermore, even after the
role of intendants increased in political and economic importance, there still existed a significant
amount of nepotism and favoritism in the selection of these roles. The role of ministers was often
chosen of the same ilk, based on the sovereignty of the king, which led to division within the court.
Often, especially in finance, the court played a central role in the blocking of reform, with Necker s
original relief of duty and Calonne s calling of the Assembly of Notables primary examples
(Bossenga, 1304). Bossenga also argues that serious conflict between the monarchy and parlements
was not endemic to politics in the eighteenth century, but developed primarily as a result of ministerial
rivalries at Versailles, (Bossenga, 1301). Many regard Louis XVI to have

Cultural Diversity in America Essay
America is greatly influenced and enhanced by the many versatile cultures which inhabit it. Cultural
diversity has added to our economy in such a way that it brings innovated ideas and contact structures
throughout the world. International cuisines have come to America through subcultures, have
expanded the food industry, and have allowed English Americans to try new foods and flavors.
Immigrants have brought with them religious values that greatly differ and vary from those at which
were natural in the main stream American culture. The educational development through foreign
nationals has led America, as a nation, to excel and be deemed one of the most intelligent nations in
the world! Consequently, the subcultures have kept our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foreign nationals bring with them the tastes and delights from their own country. Presently, Americans
have such a wide selection of foods to choose from including but not limited to Mexican, Chinese,
Italian, Greek, Thai, and Japanese. In the agricultural industry, researchers have taken domestic plants
and bred them with international plants to create a more desirable embryonic plant which grows to
have only the best characteristics of the two plants. This idealistic technology wouldn t have been
deemed possible if it wasn t subject to the vast array of cultural diversity to challenge the standard
characteristics of domestic vegetations. Along with any nation in the world, comes a variety of
religions. The English founded this nation on Christianity; however, numerous people today denounce
this monotheistic belief and instead have put their faith in beliefs brought to this country by foreigners.
This assorted variety allows believers to choose a religion which better suits their beliefs and
practices, and gives individuals a choice on spiritual fulfillment in their lives. These religious beliefs
combined with the democratic state of the nation have led to public displays of religious celebration in
America. Ramadan, Yom Kippur, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Cinco de Mayo, and Hanukkah have been a
few of the celebrations brought to America via immigrants. Some of the most celebrated and famous
revels include St. Patrick s Day and Mardi Gras (see Figure 1 and

Repercussions Of Our Decisions In Shakespeare s Romeo And...
We must be aware of the consequences and repercussions of our decisions. To do so we must take our
time and think out any possible outcome that could come in our way. Then after that look at all of our
choices and pick the one that is going to keep yourself and everyone around you safe. Romeo and
Juliet, by William Shakespeare was a book with many twists and turns for the characters romeo and
juliet from getting married in secret to wanting to kill themselves because one could not be with the
other. Shakespeare uses Juliet, Romeo, and friar lawrence to show that we should consider possible
repercussions and outcomes of our decisions.
If Romeo would have just taken the time to think out all of the possible outcomes of his many poor
decisions he might just still be alive. First of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Wherefore art thou Romeo? (2.1.35). Juliet falling in love with romeo so fast is bad because she hasn t
even thought about the fact that both of their families hate each other. The relationship would never
have work out anyway just because there is so much feud between the two families, but of course
juliet did not think about that she immediately let her feelings and emotions take over and make her
decisions. In addition, her decision to go and do here plan with friar laurence was not to the least bit
thought out Take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off; {4.1.104}.
Her taking the potion left one flaw in her and the friar s plan which was what if Romeo doesn t get the
notice about the plan and hears that juliet is dead. That one flaw was the second biggest outcome in
this story. To conclude, Juliet continued with the trend to not think about all the outcomes and
consequences of her actions which contributed to her

  • 2. Anne Frank s Time Of The Secret Annex Anne Frank, born on June 12th, 1929, was a young Jewish girl that lived in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Anne lived a quiet life her small home with her father Otto, mother Edith, and her sister Margot. She attended school, but was restricted due to her religious faith. Because Anne was Jewish, she was unable to streetcars or any transportation, could only shop at specific times, and forbidden to attend any form of entertainment. On July 19, 1942, her family moved to the Secret Annex, to protect themselves from the Nazi soldiers (Anne Frank Book). Here they were joined by 4 additional people. Three who were from the Van Pels, Augueste, Herman and Peter, who she referred to as Petronella, Hermann, and Peter van Daan in the novel, and Fritz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, another psychological influence that affected Anne s interpersonal communication with those around her is biological cycle. In the beginning of her time in the Secret Annex, Anne began to go through puberty. I forgot to mention the important news that I m probably going to get my period soon. I can tell because I keep finding a whitish smear in my panties, and my Mother predicted that it would start soon (59) . However, given her difficult relationship with her mother, ...that s how her heart sank when she realized there was no more love between us (95) , she was unable to tell her about this new discovery. This is an example of how a biological cycle affected her interpersonal communication with her mother. Furthermore, another psychological influence was Anne s development of trust. When in the Secret Annex, Anne and her family relied on a number of people, such as Miep, Bep, and those within the Annex, to keep their location secret, and for protection. For example, Anne s opinion of Dussel changed when she found out he was keeping food from the rest of them. It s absolutely disgraceful that Dussel, whom we took in to save from the destruction, should stuff himself behind backs and not give us anything (97) . In this instant, we can see that Anne lost her trust in Dussel. Later on, she becomes bitter towards him, Mr. Dussel makes up everything as he goes along, and anyone wishing to contradict His Majesty had better think twice. In Albert ... • 3. The Growth Of Aquatic Moss Under Different Lighting... Introduction: motivation: I have chosen to study the growth of aquatic moss under different lighting conditions. The reason I have chosen this is because I have been maintaining fish tanks for a couple of years now and have noticed that the plants grow different shades of green and at a faster or slower rate depending under which light source they are placed. I chose moss as it is a common fast growing plant that is quite hardy making it easier to see how the light effects it. I am interested to see the different results as I would like to start growing more expensive plants and want them to grow under the best conditions possible investigative question: Aquatic moss grows at a faster rate under natural sunlight rather than artificial light. Aim: At what rate will aquatic moss grow under a pink uv light, blue uv light and natural sunlight. hypothesis: Aquatic moss will grow at its quickest rate under a white uv light. Literature review: Lumens refer precisely to how much light a particular light source gives off, rather than how much energy it produces. Easy plants 15 25 lumen per litre, medium 25 50 lumen per litre, advanced 50 lumen per litre. Have an equal spread of lighting throughout tank as it decreases as it gets near the edges. Metal halide lamps produce the most light, closely followed by the modern high output LED lights plus they are small so you can have lots of them close together. T5 and T8 bulbs both produce the roughly the same amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eclipse is an integrated development environment (IDE) for anything and nothing in particular. The framework for Eclipse is modular and Scalable, rather than set of tools. It provided a component based platform that serves the building tools for developers. Eclipse SDK is a proof of concept product. The proof of concept product idea helps the developers to self host and build new customized versions of Eclipse. The extensible architecture is one of the keys to the successful growth of the Eclipse Ecosystem. Companies or individuals could develop new plugins, and either releases them as open source or sell them commercially. The Early Eclipse Architecture had the workbench as the most familiar UI element for users to perform. The workbench consists of perspectives, views, and editors. Editors are associated with the file type, so the correct one is launched when a file is opened. An example of view would be the problems that indicate errors or warning in java code. Editors and views together form a perspective which presents the tooling to the user in an organized fashion. The Eclipse workbench is built on the Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT) and Jface. Widget toolkits are classified as native or emulated. Unlike other computer languages such as C and C++, the first version of Java came with a native widget toolkit library called the Abstract Window Toolkit(AWT). AWT was limited, buggy, and inconsistent. Hence, a native widget toolkit was switched over to full featured emulated widget toolkit. A native widget toolkit uses operating system calls to build UI components such as lists and push buttons. Native widget toolkits are pixel perfect. The widgets look and feel like their counterparts in other applications on the Desktop. Operating system vendors continuously change the look and enjoy their changes and add various new features to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was developed by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision to strengthen the regulation, supervision and risk management of the banking sector (bis.org, 2010). It introduces new regulatory requirements on bank liquidity and bank leverage in response to the financial downturn caused by the Global Financial Crisis. Stefan Walter, Secretary General of the Basel Committee on banking supervision said in November 2010: There are many factors that led to the build up of the crisis. At the top of the list is excess liquidity, resulting in too much credit and weak underwriting standards. The vulnerability of the banking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3. Supplementing the risk based capital requirement with a leverage ratio One of the primary feature of the Global Financial Crisis, as well as other previous financial crises, was the build up of excessive on and off balance sheet leverage in the banking system. The force on the banking system to reduce its leverage caused a forced decline on asset prices worsening the feedback between looses, deterioration in bank capital and the reduction of credit availability. The framework introduced a leverage ratio requirement, fixed at 3% (actuaries.asn.au, 2011), which aims to constrain leverage in the banking sector, and introduce additional protection against model risk and measurement error. This will help alleviate the risk of the deleveraging processes, which can damage the financial system (bis.org, 2010). The introduced leverage ratio will be a reliable extra measure to the risk based requirement. 4. Reducing procyclicality and promoting countercyclical buffers Procyclical amplification has been one of the most threatening elements that caused financial shocks throughout the banking system, financial markets and the economy during the Global Financial Crisis (bis.org, 2010). The Committee introduced a number of measures which focus on procyclicality and increase the resistance of the banking sector. These measures will help ensure that the banking sector absorbs shocks instead of transmitting them to the financial system and the economy. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For ten blissful years, young Mija has formed a strong bond with Okja, a massive pig and an even bigger friend, at her home in the mountains of South Korea. This completely takes another route when family owned multinational conglomerate Mirando Corporation takes Okja for themselves and sends her to New York city, where an image obsessed and self promoting CEO has vicious plans for Mija s gentle companion. With no distinct plan but a single minded goal, Mija sets out on a rescue mission. This film was recently released on June 28th, 2017 on Netflix, and just in the span of weeks it has left an immense effect on people worldwide. The arrival of this outstanding film at this particular moment in time, gives it an added sense of significance to the current crossfire between animal activism, corporate greed and scientific ethics. • 7. Why Is John Stevens Unjustified On January 17, 1893, the Hawaiian Kingdom was overthrown by the United States of America. A storm had broken out, and a group of American men took control of the Hawaiian Kingdom. This group of men, called the Hawaiian League would ultimately take over, and overthrew the Hawaiian Kingdom. When the McKinley Tariff was signed, this allowed all imported sugar into the U.S. tariff free. This worried many foreign sugar businessmen that sugar would not thrive in Hawaii anymore. Many businessmen thought annexation would be a solution to help boost sugar again. The overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom was unjustified, because of the unlawful acts by Minster Stevens, and the Hawaiian League. A man named John Stevens assisted the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom illegally, by bringing American troops, and machinery to the Iolani Palace. The day, January 16, 1893, is the day that Stevens brought 162 armed sailors, and marines. This is going against the law, because the international law says that using armed troops on an independent nation is illegal. In addition, Stevens is a minister. Christopher did genuinely exist and the school at which they attended was called Sherborne School in Dorset. He depicted the human mind in a way that few others have been capable of doing while examining his own beliefs. Crane was so dedicated to his beliefs that one should write about only what they personally experience that he lived in a self imposed poverty for part of his life to spur on his writings (Colvert, 12:108). Crane s contribution to American Literature is larger than any one of his books or poems. Along with his beliefs in Darwinism, he drew much if his influences from his religious beliefs (Colvert 12:108). It is about a young soldier, Henry Fleming, and the emotions that he experiences during wartime ( amp;quot;Stephen amp;quot; n.p.). Crane s most famous work of poetry was Black Riders, which appears to have little or no outside influences (Quartermain 54:106). • 13. Joseph Stalin And The Mensheviks The Russian Revolution, specifically Joseph Stalin, and Mayas Rasoki a Hungarian Prime Minister, created very similar situations in the ways that they affected the people living in the areas, and how they maintained their power through the fear of the people. The Russian revolution was started from the horrible impacts that World War I had on Russia. Due to the high taxes, dearth of food, and chaos in Russia the workers began a strike. The Czar lost power and two opposite groups formed, the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. Due to their differences, a civil war broke out and the Bolsheviks, the communists, won. A Bolshevik by the name of Joseph Stalin took over and wished for Russia to have rapid industrialization. This lead to different forms of violence but Stalin did not care. Then Stalin began the purges which were very similar to what occurred before the Hungarian Revolution. Stalin decided he needed to rid of anyone, including the government, who were not enthralled with his ideas. He even executed Sergei Kirov a popular party Chief and a member of the Politburo. He then arrested hundred of thousands of people, even from the communist party, and sent them away never to be heard of again. Then he began to hold show trials in Moscow, where he put senior advisors of the government on trials and arrested their families and then put them on trial. He said they committed crimes , which really were not, and 3,600 were executed. Stalin ruined families and many lives of Russians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was a period of Athenian political hegemony, economic growth and cultural flourishing formerly known as the Golden Age of Athens or The Age of Pericles. The period began in 480 BC when an Athenian led coalition of city states, known as the Delian League, defeated the Persians at Salamis. As the fifth century wore on, what started as an alliance of independent city states gradually became an Athenian empire. Eventually, Athens abandoned the pretense of parity among its allies and relocated the Delian League treasury from Delos to Athens, where it funded the building of the AthenianAcropolis. Institutions The magistrates The magistrates were people who occupied a public post and formed the administration of the Athenian state. They were submitted to rigorous public control. The magistrates were chosen by lot, using fava beans. Black and white beans were put in a box and depending on which color the person drew out they obtained the post or not. This was a way of eliminating the personal influence of rich people and possible intrigues and use of favors. There were only two categories of posts not chosen by lot, but by election in the Popular Assembly. These were strategos, or general, and magistrate of finance. It was generally supposed that significant qualities were needed to exercise each of those two offices. A magistrate s post did not last more than a year, including that of the strategoi and in this sense the continued selection of Pericles year after year was an exception. • 15. Author Bart D. Ehrman on Scriptures What does it mean to question the authenticity and originality of a religious scripture? Is it a life changing question? Yes, it absolutely can be a life changing curiosity leading to a long journey of research. As it was the case for Bart D. Ehrman. Ehram a less devout episcopal Christian who converted to evangelical Christianity, in an essence, re embraced the religion at a young age and started studying Christianity. His education started off at Moody Bible Institute and the Wheaton College and later received his PhD in New Testament studies. During his studies, Ehram developed a particular interest about infallibility and inerrancy of the Christian scripture. In a quest of finding answers for his questions about Scripture he wrote a book Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why. The main thesis of the book reads The book is about ancient manuscripts of the New Testament and the differences found in them, about scribes who copied scripture and sometimes changed it. This may not seem to be very promising as a key to one s own autobiography, but there it is. One has little control over such things . The book is a very readable, accurate condensation of many of the most important facts about the nature and history of textual criticism. A critical review of the book demonstrates that Ehram almost absolutely proves the thesis statement of the book. • 16. Public Relations ( Pr ) 2.0 Introduction Public Relations (PR) is a multifaceted function that plays a role in nearly every organisation in today s society (Wilcox et al., 2013). Due to its complex nature, the definition of PR has changed considerably over the past 70 years (Ledingham Bruning, 1998). This report aims to analyse how PR can specifically support the DMD Foundation to achieve its awareness and fundraising objectives. A common definition of PR will be examined, breaking down its key elements, followed by a discussion regarding the overarching role of PR within organisations, specifically in the non profit sector, highlighting the positive impact that PR could have on the DMD Foundation. Discussion 3.1 Defining Public Relations The subsequent definition aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key elements involved within the functions of the PR sector. Public relations is the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies and procedures of an individual or an organisation with the public interest, and plans and executes a program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance. (Public Relations News, as cited in Grunig Hunt, 1984) PR as a management function serves to promote the importance of PR departments within an organisation (Gordon, 1997) and brings to the decision making table theories born of ongoing research and data to drive organisational decisions (Smith, 2014). • 18. Women s Role During The American Revolution Solomon devoted some consideration to political issues. Women s role was continually questioned during the American Revolution, when women expressed competency in many roles. While some females joined the war as undercover spies or soldiers, other women established activist groups to protest, campaign and raise funds. Solomon considers this war to be the opportunity for women to demonstrate their abilities in public and private spheres that could have implications in the latter movements. After the revolution, more women were contemplating their suppositional capacity to develop and elevate individually and subjectively. The prevailing stereotype at the time was daughters to be notable as housewives upholding the colonial tradition of piety, modesty, frugality, and fertility. This mindset laid the foundation to slow the progress to reshape the female status after the revolution. Although the revolution expended constitutional advancements on voting, marriage and divorce, not all the republic benefited the new laws. Of note, New Jersey passed a law in 1787 that gave the right to all inhabitant of the proper age and property qualifications to choose and vote, until an election fraud causing the law to take a step back to its original parameters, allowing only white male at the age of twenty one with money and clear estate to vote. From the makers of Bridget Jones s Diary and Notting Hill, the film Love Actually is a romantic comedy about igniting laughter, wrecking havoc, breaking hearts, daring commitment and forcing choices. Love and relationships in modern society means a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In my views, it is an intense affectionate concern or an intense sexual desire for another person. It is a term of endearment and a strong fondness or enthusiasm for something. A stereotypical view of contemporary love exists, which is based principally on gender, social class and race. In Love Actually, Huge Grant, who is the prime minister, falls in love with his secretary; Martine McCutcheon. This contrasts with the stereotype regarding social background, as Huge Grant is of a much higher status than Martine McCutcheon in the film. The title of the film automatically reveals various types of love, with the emphasis on actually. I think this suggests that the views of love and relationships portrayed in the film are the views of contemporary love. In the title of the film, Love Actually, the word Love is highlighted in bold and is red. Stereotypically, red is the colour of love, which is probably why this colour was used. We wrote down our data to prove that speed, height, and mass affect kinetic energy. This is the lab data explained. In our first lab, we had to drop different masses of cans from a height onto a 3cm clay ball and see how much it got squished. Our data consisted of dropping a 418g, 227g, 624g, and 425g can from 30cm to a clay ball. For example, with a 418g can, the ball was squished down to 2.7cm while a 227g can squished a ball down to 2.9cm. This shows that the larger mass of the can, the more the clay got squashed, so the more mass the object is, the more kinetic energy takes place. In our second ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Money Can t Buy Happiness A 2010 study conducted by Princeton University s Center For Health and Well Being threatens to discredit the age old adage that money can t buy happiness because, as it turns out, money can buy happiness...at least to an extent. The study isolated a so called happiness benchmark for annual income, at or above which research subjects reported higher levels of overall life satisfaction. A possible ramification of the study is that because certain groups of people have more difficulty finding and maintaining job positions that provide an adequate salary, they are much more likely to experience lower overall life satisfaction, and by extension happiness, purely as a result of their heritage or upbringing. Although a substantial income alone cannot make you happier on a day to day basis, those able to attain an annual income of $75,000+ are generally more satisfied with their lives altogether. In the story Lord of the flies by author William Golding, the author shares his thoughts in a unique way by telling a story where children got stuck on an island having the freedom to do anything they like. The earlier survey of hybrids approaches [40] identified seven different types such as weighted, switching, mixed, feature combination, feature augmentation, cascade and meta level [114]. A weighted hybrid recommender is one in which the score of a recommended item is computed from the results of all of the available recommendation techniques present in the system [40]. The reason the heart rate increase before exercise is because it prepares the muscles for exercise, the reason it prepares the muscles for exercise is because by the heart rate increase the more oxygen is getting to the muscles there fore they will not be needing a such a large oxygen supply all at once. It doesn t only supply oxygen it supply s nutrients, the supply of nutrients also provides energy and helps to repair the muscles after exercise. By the heart rate starting to increase gives the heart a head to start pumping hard this enables the heart to not have as much stress on it. Activity response activity response is when your brain can start to sense cardiovascular activity. Vasoconstriction is when the working muscles are not getting the oxygen they need because the veins and vessels are stopping the blood flow. In this process of vasoconstriction the diameter of the vessels get smaller therefore the blood that is able to flow out of the blood vessels gets decreased. Blood vessels constrict together instead of being relaxed. This happens during exercise because that s when the working muscles need oxygen. The other muscles don t need as much oxygen there for when the blood gets there it gets redirected to the other muscles that are working and that require more oxygen. • 43. Gardasil Research Paper Summary The research questions are why is Gardasil such a controversial topic and why can t the debate on if Gardasil is safe, on what age it should be given, and how successful it would be when administered be settled? The research was conducted to answer these questions because Merck, the maker of Gardasil, presented this vaccine as the first vaccine to prevent HPV and cervical cancer in girls but there was no real solid proof that the vaccine was successful since Merck and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved the vaccine a year before the results/data on the vaccine s safety and efficacy became available. Likewise, researchers were trying to learn if Merck s claims of one less life being affected by cervical cancer with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel like the article should have talked about both sides of the debate because, despite people s personal beliefs/feelings on Gardasil, the vaccine does work, just not on everything that the company is advertising that it does. It does not prevent cervical cancer mainly because with the way the lesions of cervical cancer are (CIN 1 3) the lesions hardly ever develop into the other two lesions known as CIN 2 and CIN 3. This article was completely against the vaccine but it provided plenty of proof and detail to back up why Gardasil should not be required, especially because research has proven that a pap smear can do more for women when it comes to cervical cancer than Gardasil can. I like the article overall, and it helped me understand a little more of what Gardasil can or cannot do. However, I feel like the article could ve been dumbed down some just because I never even heard of CIN lesions before and so I felt like they should ve explained a little easier and in simpler terms of what these cells are, otherwise those without any medical background/schooling would not follow too well with the ... One collection of myths which has exercised a powerful grip on the minds of many, and contributed to feelings of inferiority on the part of large numbers of pure or mixed descendants of Native Americans in the region of northern Mesoamerica,2 has to do with the conquest of the Aztec Empire by HernanCortes and his followers in the early sixteenth century. Both decisions were based on his ignorance of the actual power of the Triple Alliance and the confederation of Tlaxcallan.[7] Cortes underestimated these two because of his early experiences in Mesoamerica. Although they initially tried to avoid confrontations with the native communities, the Spaniards had to engage in several battles against a coalition of Maya armies near Potonchan (located in the present day state of Tabasco). However, they were able to win these battles thanks to the superiority of their weapons and military tactics. The outcome of these skirmishes was quickly known! by the Triple Alliance. As a result, when Cortes arrived in the region of Totonacapan, this alliance opted in favor of a strategy of deterrence rather than war. Envoys sent by Tenochtitlan established contact with Cortes and presented him with a series of lavish gifts that were meant to indicate the might of the Triple Alliance.[8] However, the strategy backfired because Cortes was unable to grasp the symbolism of the gifts and interpreted them as a sign of weakness. • 48. Origins of the French Revolution Both Bossenga and Andress offer interesting and well supported perspectives on the origins of the French Revolution and the reasons it came about. Bossenga purports that the public fervor of the time had little to do with the actual revolution, other than providing bodies for insurrection. Rather, the institution of the royal state was an inherently flawed one by the reign of Louis XVI, to the extent that only a full revolution would effectively produce solutions to the problems of the ancien regime. Andress places a greater emphasis on the will of the people as an effective mechanism for change. His belief is that the French Revolution offered an effective convergence of enough political, social and economic turmoil to incite a popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This created group individualism which meant that the nobility, among other groups, unified to protect their privileges, despite royal attempts to fracture the group. Through this concept, and the negative interactions with the crown, the foundation of a revolution based on equality was born. The traditional court of Louis XVI presented a serious barricade to reform on the eve of the revolution. Starting with Louis XIV, it became the ultimate symbol of royal authority, and blurred the line between the political and familial within the court (Bossenga, 1301). Furthermore, even after the role of intendants increased in political and economic importance, there still existed a significant amount of nepotism and favoritism in the selection of these roles. The role of ministers was often chosen of the same ilk, based on the sovereignty of the king, which led to division within the court. Often, especially in finance, the court played a central role in the blocking of reform, with Necker s original relief of duty and Calonne s calling of the Assembly of Notables primary examples (Bossenga, 1304). Bossenga also argues that serious conflict between the monarchy and parlements was not endemic to politics in the eighteenth century, but developed primarily as a result of ministerial rivalries at Versailles, (Bossenga, 1301).
