The Job of a Lawyer
The Job of a Lawyer I can t think of a better job than arguing with people. Ever since I was little I was
very good at arguing and everyone I ve argued with or heard me argued said to me, You would make a
great lawyer . These Lawyers have to take on many jobs and responsibilities, they also take a certain
physical qualifications as well as mental. You are there to make sure people get justice that someone
gets the closure or help they need to move on with their lives. Fighting crime doesn t always mean
literally. Being a lawyer means long hours and countless numbers of paperwork. Trial lawyers spend
most of their time researching clients cases(Lawyer 1 ) . The job requires you to look into cases as
well as records, comprehend the vocabulary, and be able to speak to people to get the information. In
this job you also handle a lot of paper work. You have to look for things in cases that most people won
t see such as loop holes and a alibi as well as be confident enough to win your case and your clients
trust. Lawyers, also called attorneys, act as both advocates and advisors. As advocators they represent
one of the parties in criminal or civil trials by presenting evidence and arguing in support of the client.
As advisors, lawyers counsel their clients about their legal right and obligations and suggest course of
the action in business and personal matters (Lawyer 3 ) . By playing two roles they have to take on
two different personalities, one as the stern heartless

A Sorority Is A Subculture Or A Segment Of Society s...
All around the world sororities are a subculture or a segment of society s population on most college
campuses (Macionis 64). These sororities have their own language, norms, beliefs, and values. Most
college campuses have many charters or different sororities to choose from when a student wants to
pledge a sorority. On the Saint Francis University campus, there are seven sororities that a female
student can belong to. Each sorority has a different philanthropy which is a foundation that the
sorority stands behind. For example Delta Phi Epsilon stands behind the Educational Foundation, this
foundation helps women get the education that they deserve. Sororities are known for creating a bond
between girls that last a life time. The sororities have their own language, they use words like pledge,
bid, big, little, active, lavaliere, letters, and philanthropy. A pledge is a person who accepts a bid, and a
bid is an invitation to a specific chapter at their school (Nakagoshi 1). When a female student wants to
pledge a sorority they interview for a bid and the sorority decides if they want to have the new student
pledge or not. If the pledge gets the bid then the student gets a big, a big is an older girl who has been
part of the sorority for a year of more, and the big is like a big sister they are supposed to care of their
little or new pledge (Nakagoshi 1). An active is a member of the sorority that has been part of the
sorority for a few years. When a sister is

Parking In City Heights
Finding a space for parking in City Height proves difficult, as most are already taken, but I manage to
navigate into a space in a neighborhood lined with houses and front yards. Walking onto University
Avenue, I pass a vibrant collection of local businesses buildings such as tortillerias, one stop shop
clothing stores, travel agencies, autoshops and supermercados painted in bright pinks, greens, and
blues with Spanish banners. In my awe of all the colors, I almost bump into a fellow pedestrian
moving fast down the sidewalk, and realize the heavy amount of pedestrian and bike traffic for an
early weekday morning. My eyes rise above the single story business buildings and lock onto a
modern, multi story, muted auburn colors rising above the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While being one of the largest, it has also been known in the past as the most ethnic example of
neighborhoods. Resident of City Heights and writer of San Diego Free Press Anna Daniels describes
how the street vendors used to advertise their specialties to the apartments walls from the pedestrian
walks of the center square of the community, La fruta, la tortilla, las verduras, se van , and choices
from variety authentic mom and pop shops. This small entrepreneurship activity used to mark the
essence of the hub of City Heights, but has since been struck off the map at the epicenter by the
Premium Office Spaces, rising above and casting a shadow over the rest of the community. If the
residents had created a working market to their own making, why did the city undergo the City
Heights Redevelopment Project? The answer, I believe, is an incredibly biased one: because street
vendors and mom and pop shops limit capitalist control over a public space. Largely Latino
communities, like City Heights, are targeted because such ethnic liveliness blur[s] the lines between
commercial and residential activities (Rojas, 38. Added letter is my own.). To allow this cultural
infusion would relinquish control of the central space of the community to the locals, and therefore
must be redeveloped at first

Analysis Of Waiting For Godot
Originally performed in 1953 in French, Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot took the stage at the
Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto. The play tells the story of Vladimir and Estragon, two men who wait
for Godot, someone or something they have not met to seen. The Soulpepper Production illustrates the
journey that plays with Vladimir and Estragon s mind and emotion, in regard to the interactions with
their surroundings and themselves. The main focus of the production directs the audience s attention
towards an enclosed setting that limit the actions originally sought in the play. The production
however, focused more on Vladimir and Estragon s relationship, the play does not capture the same
effect. Thus, the production is a mere interpretation from what the play offers in portraying the stage.
From the play to the stage, Waiting for Godot illustrates how an enclosed setting represents Vladimir
and Estragon s mind. The production revolved around how the set and setting illustrated how the
characters interacted with one another and their surroundings. The structure of the stage appeared to
look like an alley way with concrete styled wall and a tree placed in the center; the setting which
occurred in a rectangular box. Therefore, Vladimir and Estragon performed in an enclosed space; thus,
represented their mind. Originally, the play takes place in a country road and Estragon sits on a
mound, but the production has the actor playing Estragon sitting on a concrete brick. The

Little Fish And Forrest Gump Analysis
From the directors of The Boys and Back to the Future Parts II III comes two epic tales of the
struggles and triumphs of life and everything in between. Comes two of the most iconic movies of this
generation and many more generations yet to come. Two life changing films that should, wait... no...
that need to be in the Cannes Hall Of Fame.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I present to you, the heart pounding, the mind racing, the soul
touching... FORREST GUMP AND LITTLE FISH
Little Fish and Forrest Gump are both majorly socially and culturally significant with their portrayals
of everyday life struggles, whether that s in Australia or around the world, such as drug abuse and
violence in mundane suburban areas and the struggles of normalities and abnormalities as well as
racism, sexism and marginalization of the eras and societies of which these two mind reeling movies
are set.
The impact of these two epic tales socially and culturally on audiences watching these films is
astounding, they make you think about the abuse, violence, marginalization, racism etc. going on in
the world and possibly your back yard so to speak. The actors, specifically Tom Hanks (Forrest
Gump) and Cate Blanchett (Little Fish), put you in their characters shoes and make you think and feel
as their character would in their situations and journeys through life.
These two fantastic films and their amazing actors are definitely a must see and deserve
acknowledgement and praise of the quality of the acting skills

The God s Script Short Story
The God s Script, by Jorge Luis Borges, is representing the structure of knowledge through a dream of
Tzinacán, the central character, and the narrative presence of the jaguar. Borges wrote the short story
to describe Tzinacán s dream of the god s script, a language that would help him fulfill his destiny
while he is imprisoned: his destiny is to be able to die in peace. Tzinacán is a magician of the pyramid
of Qaholom. He can survive torture in silence; he will never lose hope. In this short story, Borges is
trying to say the dreams reveal knowledge of things that can come to reality. Tzinacán, the central
character, is a magician. A magician has powers and can do many tricks with those powers. The
magician of Qaholom goes through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knows he will not see daylight again besides the split second of light through the openings.
However, Tzinacán s gods also give him hope for his destiny in prison. One of his gods is represented
as the pyramid of Qaholom, that is burned and demolished. As he said, They struck down the idol of
the god before my very eyes, but he did not abandon me and I endured the torments in silence (169).
When he talks about the pyramid, he seems like he is more pleased that his gods are here with him
instead of completely disappearing. He clearly stated that they are not abandoning him; even though
he is being tortured, they do not leave his side. The impressions of the things that are happening to
him are like the things that happen to his gods. Tzinacán senses that the things he thinks about
represent furthering his knowledge, getting him closer to knowing his god s script. He knows of the
script, but wants more structured knowledge of and the whereabouts of the script. As he stated, The
fact that a prison confined me did not forbid my hope; perhaps I had seen the script of Qaholom a
thousand times and needed only to fathom it (170). He reflects that it is only right that the gods are
leaving access to the script to him to have as part his destiny. From the tone of the story, the
knowledge he has of his gods

a Sense of Mission and Sally Yeung
Mission is still a relatively neglected area of management, and there is no clear agreement on what it
encompasses. The Ashridge Strategic Management Centre conducted a 2 year research project
designed to fill this gap. The research found that if mission is more clearly defined it can be managed
better, and developed a model of mission that includes four elements purpose, strategy, behaviour
standards and values. The project identified companies where, in addition to strong links between
these elements, employees also showedan emotional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is concerned with generating co operation among employees through shared values and standards of
bchaviour. IBM seems to subscribe to the cultural view of mission. The company describes its mission
in terms of a distinct business philosophy, which in turn produces strong cultural norms and values. In
his book, A Business and its Belief, Thomas J. Watson Jr described these beliefs, many of which were
established by his father, and insisted that they have been the central pillar of the company s success.
Watson asserted : The only sacred cow in an organization should be its basic philosophy of doing
business . For IBM, the basic philosophy, spirit and drive of the business lies in three concepts: respect
for the individual, dedication to service and a quest for superiority in all things. The importance
ofother factors which contribute to commercial success, such as technological and economic
resources, is transcended by how strongly the people in the organization believe in its basic precepts
and how faithfully they carry them out . Is it possible to reconcile these two different interpretations?
Are they conflicting theories or are they simply separate parts of the same picture? We believe these
theories can be synthesized into a comprehensive single description of mission. We also believe that
some of the confusion over mission exists because of a failure to appreciate that it is ,n

Rhetorical Analysis Of Patton s Speech
This is a rhetorical analysis of Lieutenant General George S. Patton s Speech to the Third United
States Army. It was a very successful speech given to the troops of the United States Third Army in
1944 before the invasion of France. After examining the genre, purpose of this speech, General Patton
s audience, and how General Patton used ethos, logos, and pathos we can see why this iconic speech
was so successful.
First we will take a look at the genre of this piece. The genre is very important in literature because
they are like guidelines that outline what your piece should have in it. For example if someone wanted
you to write a speech you would look at examples of other speeches and see how they get a point
across. You would not for instance look at a series of papers under the Lab Report genre for ideas on
how to write a speech. When General George S. Patton was tasked with speaking in front of thousands
of troops the speech genre was the appropriate way to address so many people.
Secondly this speech is very focused on a purpose, to motivate the listener, give confidence, and hope.
General George S. Patton motivates by taking in consideration for his audience and exploiting it. The
listeners are all inexperienced soldiers who are scared of going into combat for the first time. Patton
already has a reputation of being a hardcore successful, seasoned general. Everyone looks up to him
and he uses lines such as That s why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. to motivate
people. When the soldiers of the Third Army hear Patton talk about how All real Americans love to
fight it motivates all these very patriotic people because they link their love of country to loving the
fight. Another great is example is when Patton states And we have the best team we have the finest
food and equipment, the best spirit and the best men in the world. Why, by God, I actually pity these
poor bastards we re going up against. . Patton is making everything sound great saying that they have
the best of everything, that they can t lose, and even that they have it so good he actually feels sorry
for the people they are going up against. These examples are textbook motivation and it really makes

Evaluating Dr. Bernard Wilkin s Aerial Warfare During...
I chose to evaluate the article written by Dr. Bernard Wilkin, titled Aerial warfare during World War
One. The article is a part of a project themed The War Machine , published online by The British
Library. The article captured my interest largely due to the huge amount of information and facts cited
in the article comprising the use of aviation in World War One.
Dr. Bernard Wilkin, as an author, is a relevant resource for my research into how flight changed World
War One. Bernard Wilkin is currently a lecturer at the University of Exeter, located at Sheffield, in the
United Kingdom, and also works for the Oxford University Press. Dr. Wilkin holds a Master s degree
in History from the University of Liège, Belgium (Biography of Dr. Bernard Wilkin). He also holds a
Master s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Aberystwyth, United Kingdom. Dr. Wilkin
completed a Ph.D. in 2014 specifically on Allied Propaganda Aimed at the Occupied Territories of
France and Belgium during the First World War, at the University of Sheffield (Biography of Dr.
Bernard Wilkin). Dr. Wilkin has several books and articles published by the British Library and the
Cambridge University Press (History Dr. Bernard Wilkin). Because Dr. Wilkin s education focuses
specifically on the years 1870 1873 and 1914 1918, this will be an enormous aid to me in my research

The Media s Portrayal Of Asian Americans
Throughout history, the media has been known to be influential towards how individuals of society
perceive the world and their environment. This influence can lead to people creating prejudices
towards those who are highlighted by the media. It also has the ability to change the attitude of one
person towards another class of people and stereotype them in positive, but mostly negative ways. One
population that has played victim to the repercussions of the mass media is Asian Americans, who
have been oppressed and deemed a minority by Americans. The media s portrayal of Asian Americans
has had detrimental effects on one s opportunities, performance, and their perception of the world. The
mass media consists of any means of communication that has the ability to reach a large amount of
people. The term media can refer to movies, television, the newspaper, etc. It is because of it s ability
to out reach to a mass quantity of people that it is able to reinforce and teach societal values. At a
young age, socialization occurs in that it involves the learning of the values and the norms of society
and adopting them into their own personal values (Perse, 2001.) Children often have little life
experience so they learn and imitate their environment whether that be the characters on television or
societal institutions like their families or teachers at school. Adolescents are more susceptible to
socialization in that they are at a period in which they are trying to find

College Dropout Papers
College Dropouts throughout the U.S.
There are many reasons why over the years the United States has experienced a high college dropout
rate among college students. The dropout rate results in unqualified and poorly skilled workers who
eventually apply for low paying jobs and then realize the importance of a college degree. College
dropout rates throughout the U.S. are caused by several reasons, including, lack of finance, lack of
academic readiness, and stress. Many students have aspirations about attending the college of their
dreams, but many people lack financial support and are not able to go because of high tuition
payments, such as housing, and other college expenses. U.S. Student Loans Debt Statistics for 2017
indicate that the cost of attending college is becoming a growing burden for a huge portion of
Americans. (Student Loan Hero). Students are left with the option of dropping and leaving school.
Even after receiving some financial support, such as scholarships and grants, students have limited
amount of money to pay off their expenses. At the start of their college career, students apply for the
colleges they would like to go to, and many forget about the financial decision that is required to pay
for college. A 2010 study on more than 200,000 freshmen at four year colleges, more students rated
themselves as below average in emotional health than ever before. The financial stress of worrying
about their college loans and whether they ll find a job after college and the day to day stress of
making decisions for themselves in all aspects of their lives. (Allianz). Unfortunately, freshman
students are the main group of college students that go through financial conflicts, leading to stress
about how to pay for college. Some students choose to work their way through college. Others decide
they d rather be making money working full time than pursuing a costly degree. Still others become
discouraged at the prospect of incurring loan debt (College View). According to Public Agenda, Work
is the top reason young adults give for not returning to college once they leave. More than a third (36
percent) of those who left school say that even if they had a grant that fully paid for tuition

Gravimetric Analysis of a Soluble Sulfate
Abstract Gravimetric analysis describes the methods for finding the chemical constituent of analyte in
a solution through analytical chemistry. This method uses the mass of solid SO42 , with an unknown
quantity and quality, to qualitatively determine the makeup of the solid SO3 . Two separate
experiments with the initial compounds of BaCl2 and SO42 were put into solution to allow for the
BaSO4 precipitate to form. Through filtration and ignition of precipitate containing ashless papers, the
solid masses of BaSO4 were attained. With a gravimetric factor of 1:1, sample 1 resulted in the
formation of 0.5874g BaSO4 from 0.4004g of SO42 , while sample 2 resulted in the formation of
0.4073g BaSO4 from 0.3985g of SO42 . The two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two samples of unknown #8 were taken and weighed at 0.4004g (Sample 1) and 0.3985g (Sample 2).
The two samples were placed into separate 400 mL beakers along with 200 mL of DI water containing
4 mL of 6M HCl. Two samples of the BaCl2.2H2O weighing 1.51g each were placed into separate
250 mL beakers and dissolved using 100 mL of DI water. 95 mL of each of the BaCl2.2H2O solutions
were added to the earlier mentioned 400 mL beakers containing the unknown #8 solutions, leaving
roughly 5 mL to later test completeness of precipitation of the sulfate ion. The newly added mixtures
were heated for 3 minutes and then were allowed to cool and settle for 10 minutes. The remaining 5
mL of BaCl2.2H2O solution was added to their respective unknown solutions to ensure precipitation
completeness of sulfate ions. Upon completeness, the two solutions were heated for 90 minutes at near
boiling temperatures. After the 90 minutes, the solutions were removed from the heat, cooled, covered
with parafilm and stored until the following week.
Procedure (III): Precipitations of Funnel and Filter Paper for Filtration This procedure is performed
for the purpose of separating and filtering the desired barium sulfate so to later determine the quantity
of sulfate within unknown #8. The two solutions prepared and digested previously were reheated to

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis

Raw Human Nature
In the novel Lord of The Flies by William Golding, a plane crashes on an island and a group of young
English boys are forced to fend for themselves as well as each other in hope of rescue. In this novel
Golding makes several comments on the tendencies of man when in the absence of a social structure.
Throughout the book, Golding tells the reader about human nature. When humans completely give in
to human nature, chaos erupts. Through the use of the fire, the beast, and Piggy s glasses William
Golding shows how human nature slowly pulls away from civilization when there is no social
structure.
One way that Golding conveys his message about human nature is with the fire and its smoke. In a
sense, the fire is an indicator of the civilization level of the boys. Towards the beginning of the story,
Ralph works very hard at keeping up the fire. The other boys help him because they want to be
rescued as well. They want the fire to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the very beginning of the novel it s obvious that Piggy s glasses are important. They are a
symbol of power. Piggy s glasses hold within them the power of fire. Power is something craved by
most people on the island, especially Jack. This craving is due to the tendencies of human nature.
Ralph uses Piggy s specs so he can make his signal fires, but when Jack breaks away and forms his
own tribe. He steals Piggy s glasses so he can have fire for cooking his meat. The spectacles have the
power to save them all from the island, such as Ralph s signal fires, or destroy them all, such as Jack
creating a forest fire in an attempt to kill Ralph. Ralph tries to use the spectacles to get rescued and
Jack tries to use the spectacles to kill Ralph and gain power. The craving for power drives both sides,
which is one of the main tendencies of human nature that Golding talks

Sandbox Vs Android Security Essay
The kernel enforces security between applications and the system at the process level through standard
Linux facilities, such as user and group IDs that are assigned to applications. By default, applications
cannot interact with each other and applications have limited access to the Operating System. If
application A tries to do something malicious like read application B s data or dial the phone without
permission (a separate application), then the Operating System protects against this, because
application A does not have the appropriate user privileges. All these features together are called the

Convection Current ( Chris Woodford 2014 )
Background Information
Figure 1: Convection Current (Chris Woodford 2014)
The first fully automatic electric kettle was released by Russell Hobbs in 1956. It boiled water in the
most efficient manner that had ever been seen previously. A coil of thick metal called a heating
element was located at the bottom of the kettle (Chris Woodford 2014). By plugging in the kettle into
an electrical outlet an electric current is able to flow into the heating element. As the element has a
certain resistance it converts the electrical energy into heat, heating the cold water surrounding the
element. The higher the temperature, the faster the atom is (Chris Woodford 2014). Therefore, the
faster atoms from the element collide with the slower atoms of ... Show more content on

Using this value it can be determined how my energy is required to raise the temperature of one litre
of water from 20°C, to 100°C, as done by a kettle(Hyper Physics 2014). The amount of energy needed
to boil the litre of water is; 4.2 × 1000 grams × 80 degrees = 336,000 joules, therefore it takes 336 kJ
to raise the temperature by 80°C.
The main two materials that surround kettles are plastic and metals (Engineering Toolbox 2014). Each
material acts differently in terms of thermal conductivity, therefore altering how much heat is released
into the air surrounding the kettle (Engineering Toolbox 2014). The most common plastic used is
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) as it is flame retardant, has a high heat resistance, high impact
resistance and has good chemical resistance (Professional Plastics 2014). However, plastic is generally
not as long lasting as metal as it is thin and is easier to break. On the other hand, the most common
metal used in the construction of kettles is stainless steel. It is used because it retains a high strength at
elevated temperatures, has a high tensile strength and is a poor conductor of electricity, meaning users
are not at risk of electrocution (eMachineShop 2014). Stainless steel is also used as it generally lasts
longer than plastic and because of its aesthetics. The most critical difference between ABS and
stainless steel is the level of thermal conductivity. Stainless steel has a much higher level of

attorney. The group deal with multiple deaths, usually caused by them, by using anything ranging
from their knowledge of the law to hired hitmen to get their way. The repeated theme in the series
exposes the harsh reality of how the local government and the people within are corrupt. A
conscienceless society is a major concept that shapes each character s narcissistic frame of mind
where they will do anything to achieve their own personal goals. Even with all the murders and deceit,
in the end each character seems to accomplish part of their mission. ... Show more content on

This episode really highlights the element s of how corrupt other can be due to how easily the hospital
staff was bribed to forge false medical documents. This just goes to show corruption can transcend the
real of law and move into other aspects, such as medicine. The students show how much they have
become desensitized by being unsympathetic toward the shooting they were involved in. They even go
as far as plotting to kill the victim after finding out he is still alive. The students only show concern for
themselves and the people within their group. Oliver Hampton is the only character to openly express
sympathy for the victims. He seems to be a personified version of the other characters conscience.
Early in the series he is not as prevalent because the students have not been introduced to their life of
lies, but as the series goes on and the students begin to lose emotion toward their actions, he comes
more of a constant figure to add more empathy. Oliver s constant reminder of how the group s actions
have affected others is what keeps them from basically becoming

Peds In Sports
In the recent history of American sports, there has been a surplus of the use of Performance Enhancing
Drugs, PEDs . This has varied from the case in Major League Baseball and the biogenesis scandal, to
the case that involves Lance Armstrong in cycling. In addition, Russia is facing a ban from the 2016
Olympics in Rio for the usage of PEDs. In fact, according to Kalyeena Makortoff, ...Russian track and
field athletes, which were encouraged and covered up by coaches, doctors, and state and sports
officials, (What You need to Know about Russia s Doping Scandal, Makortoff) to use PEDs. With the
usage of these drugs, it is known that it can have short term success in an athlete s sport which is an
unfair advantage. Some argue that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sports industry will not tolerate athletes using the drugs and in the long run killing himself or
herself by using the drugs while an athlete for a sport. Legalizing the use of Performance Enhancing
Drugs could also become a sport of its own by athletes looking for the best drug possible and find
drugs that can turn them more into creature than human. Then sports will truly not be sport, it is going
to become a shot race for the next injection. This situation could only go for so long until a
detrimental situation happens when in the middle of the usage of PEDs, a life is lost from not using
the drugs properly. According to Doctor Thomas H. Murray The drug race in sport has the potential to
create a slow motion public health catastrophe. (Top 10 Pros and Cons Should performance enhancing
drugs (such as steroids) be accepted in sports?, Procon.)
In conclusion, Performance Enhancing Drugs such as steroids should not be legalized in the sporting
world. This is because of the long term health of the person, an unfair advantage that happens when
using Performance Enhancing Drugs, and the argument for legalizing PEDs is simply asinine.
Remember, that in the sports world many believe that the rules can be flexible if the right loophole is
found, and some may find a way to work the system. So those that try to use the drugs, just remember

Titanic Essay
Many people across the world watch films. It is so popular because it puts a story on the screen and
into life so that people can see it.
People watch films for the entertainment value, or are simply too lazy to read and enjoy the magic of a
book.
The advantages of watching a film at the cinema rather than on video is the bigger screen, and the
surround sound, also the atmosphere. This all adds up and creates a bigger impact than a video.
People make films to tell a story or get a message across, such as Pearl Harbour, which tells us the
story of a real historical event through the eyes of a fictional love story, very much like Titanic. Or

They also use Sound Effect to make what is happening sound more real, such as an explosion or band.
They also use backing tracks, which can be used to emphasise the emotion a character is feeling. For
example, if it was sad, they might use a love song.
They use costume to show you what time something was set it, or the class of the people, particularly
shown in Titanic, as Jack is very poor and Rose is rich. The characters who wear the costumes are also
very important. They have to look the part and sound the part, not just be able to read the lines. They
have to act the way a person of that time would.
For my GCSE coursework, I will be writing a Media essay on Titanic, which was directed by James
Caremon. It was made in 1997, and was the most expensive film made at the time. It won many
awards, and is one of the great love stories told, based on a real historical event.
The Titanic was quoted as being Titanic, wasn t just another ship, it was bigger, faster, and more
luxurious than any other ship before her. She had two sister ships, The Olympic and The Britannic, all

Different Ideological Perspectives Based On Those Who...
Those in politics have different ideological perspectives based on those who support that particular
party. In regards to the leading Republican Candidate, it is evident that they are supported by those
who strongly support the military. Hence, this candidate proposes to increase military spending. If
there is an increase in military spending, the government spending for other social institutions
(education, health care, and food/agriculture) would decrease. By looking at this situation through the
Functionalist perspective, one can identify various manifest/latent functions/dysfunctions. The
manifest function or intending effect of this change was to allow for our military to expand and cause
an increase in enrollment. A larger military would result in better protection for not only our country
but other countries that we have alliances with. In addition, the increase in size would cause an
increased fear/respect of the American military around the world. The latent function or unintended
effect of this change would be an arms race among adversarial countries. It is possible that this arms
race could ultimately lead to war. Economically, there will be an increase in profits for the defense
industries. The manifest dysfunction or anticipated disruption would be the decrease in government
spending for other social institutions. This decrease can cause several latent or unintended
dysfunctions. By cutting spending in areas like education, government funded programs in

Organic Farming Chapter Summary
This chapter was about the struggle of living with locally grown food and cloth diapers. Colin Beavan
got in touch with some foodies and asked what they did for eating environmentally conscience. And
Colin and his wife found other activities to do during their normal TV time, like preparing ingredients
for their meals and spending time with their friends. Colin even went as far as to visit the farm that he
gets his milk from just to see if the farmer s ideals lined up with his.
This chapter brought up a good point about the antibiotics regulations for organic farming. As
someone who was once a member of 4 H if you are planning on raising market animals the healthier
the animal is the better. So when the USDA set the no antibiotics standard for market animals to be
considered organic is unrealistic because in order to have a shot at raising healthy animals they need to
get shots to keep them from getting sick. And this doesn t just apply to 4 H, it applies to commercial
farms too and that s why some of them treat their animals so badly. Commercial farms try to follow
the USDA rules but aren t making enough money to keep their animals healthy so when they get sick
the animals are hurriedly pushed to get well without the use of vet care, because that s money that they
could use to buy more animals instead of trying to care for the ones they have. This doesn t condone
the methods the commercial farms use but it is easier to care for the animals better when you are a 4 H
er and raising 1 3 animals per year as opposed to a factory farm raising 60 70 animals per year.

knowledge to know that the journey to space is not an easy one. It was not until the 1942 that humans

need for space technology many things came to be invented as shown in this passage, Space
exploration has contributed to many diverse aspects of everyday life, from solar panels to implantable

Sensitive Periods Define the term sensitive periods Sensitive periods are a period in a child s life
where they are obsessed with certain aspects of learning without any particular reason. This period is
an optimum time for development and children can really develop specific abilities and skills. When
children are in their sensitive periods and working with any activity, they will not show any signs of
fatigue and will repeat the activity a number of times. These periods last for a certain amount of time;
however the child may eventually lose interest and may move on to another activity. Development

Change Management and Organizational Development
Change Management and Organizational Development

Introduction
For effective survival in the industry, adaptability is an essential component for every organization.
Every organization should change according to the external environment and influences. In adaptable
organizations, employees are given more freedom in decision making process. The management also
sets broad goals and objectives. Learning is a continual process in adaptable organizations. Change in

Thus, by his imagination and a quest for innovation Henry Ford made many changes in his company
apart from certain resistances. Therefore for every organization s development there is a main concept
behind it, that is change. There are many approaches to manage organizational change. One of the
most popular models of change management is Action Research which is discussed below.
Action Research
According to Stephen P. Robbins, Action Research is a change process based on the systematic
collection of data and then selection of a change action based on the data indicates in the analysis.
Action Research is a five step process which includes, 1. Diagnosis Here, the change agents tries to
determine the causes for the organization s problems. Information is collected by taking interview
among the employees or searching the organizational records or by listening to employee concerns to
diagnose the nature of the problem. 2. Analysis In this stage, the change agents analyzes the data
collected in the previous stage. Through this, the change agent is able to identify different kinds of
problems. The change agent observes the similarities and differences between the problems. Then the
information is classified into three categories the
primary concerns, the problem areas and the possible resolving actions. 3. Feedback As the feedback
results form an important part in

Honesty Is The Best Policy
Benjamin Franklin, of one hundred dollar bill fame, once said that honesty is the best policy
(Franklin). This seems like a good thing, however if you use the common definition of honesty, of
never telling a lie, then I would disagree with dear Ben, honesty is not the best policy. If I had to
create my own definition of honesty to replace the common definition, I would say that to be honest,
would be to stay true. True to others, true to the world, and true to yourself. To get to how I came up
with this definition we have to go back to the common definition of honesty, which is not to tell lies.
Back when I was a much younger version of myself, in about 2nd grade or so, I remember telling
outrageous lies, lies that are completely impossible for an adult to achieve, much less a meager 2nd
grader. I remember a time when one of the other kids said that they have three dogs, and then someone
else said that they had four dogs, which was more than I had ever had, so I said that I had five dogs,
because having more dogs makes me cool, right? Well someone else said that they had more animals,
and someone else said they had even more animals, and then someone said that they have some exotic
animals, and it ended up with a table of 2nd graders who owned more animals than were in the entire
state of North Carolina and somehow kept them contained in suburban homes hidden away from the
ASPCA. I believe I ended up having an entire zoo stored somewhere in my closet, just behind my

Comparing Storm And The Story Of An Hour
Imagine reading a short story so weird, so filled with horror and eeriness, that the short story becomes
a little too creepy, so much that a reader might have to reread a sentence to make sure they read it
correctly. Did that character really just die? Is that animal really that scary? Is that house interacting
with the characters? A lot of times, nineteenth century author, Kate Chopin does just that to his
readers. Chopin uses many different elements of a short story to give his readers an idea of themes
such as death, and obsession. She illustrates this in two of his short stories, The Storm and The Story
of an Hour. Chopin uses symbols such as the tempest in The storm to emphasize his theme of
obsession; She similarly does this in her story The Story of an hour, by using symbols such as the Heat
Trouble and the open window, to emphasize his theme of mortality. ... Show more content on

The Youth Curfew Diminished Productivity Among Youth And...
On August 5th 2014, the Baltimore City Council launched one of the strictest youth curfews in the
nation. The curfew requires that all youth under the age of 14 be indoors by 9 p.m. and 15 and 16
years olds in at 10 on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends. (Reed) The curfew itself sparked an
outrage from Baltimore citizens, mainly parents and youth. Many deem the new restriction positive
and beneficial to the city s drug and crime problems, but others visualize it as ineffective and
discriminatory, and have the potential to entangle young people especially teens from minorities and
low income groups in the criminal justice system. (Gambino) The youth curfew diminished
productivity amongst the youth, has become the wrong alternative to the city s problems, and has built
a barrier between the youth and the city law enforcement.

There are young men at the mall shopping and attempting to holler at the girls with a facade of

The Person of Christ Essay
The Person of Christ
When discussing and proving the person of Christ, there are two basic laws that must be addressed
and proven. First you must prove that Christ is one hundred percent human (humanity), then you must
prove that at the same time Christ is one hundred percent God (deity). As human, Christ had a body,
he had a soul and spirit, he had human characteristics, and he was called by human names. In Luke
2:52, it is written that Christ, even though he had a virgin birth, He was born with a human body that
was conceived by a human body. Christ s humanity included both the material and immaterial aspects
of the human body (he was flesh but at the same time he was also Soul and Spirit). For Christians,

385) . It took not only the humanity of Christ, but also his deity to affect the world in this way. In the
view of His deity, Christ is God. Not only is he Christ, but the Son of God, and called God in the New
Testament. The Johannine teaching includes the following passages: John 1:1, 18, where some
manuscripts read the only begotten God, and that unusual reading may be regarded as grounds for
accepting its authenticity; 20:28,
where Thomas used both kurios and theos of Jesus; and 1 John 5:20. It is preferable to ascribe the
phrase God blessed forever to Christ (Ryre Basic Theology p. 56) .
Apart from his distinction as human, there is evidence of oneness. The New Testament insists that
there is only one true God in James 2:19 as it states, You believe that there is only God. Good! Even
the demons believe that and shudder. Christ is part of the Trinity and is recognized as God in creation
John 1:3, judge of all things in the future john 5:27, and he has omniscience Matthew 9:4. Charles
Ryre proves Christ s deity and involvement in the Trinity in Basic Theology, as he writes,
How then do we arrive at a clear doctrine of the Trinity? Simply by accepting two lines of evidence in
the bible: (a) clear statements that teach there is only one God; and (b)equally clear statements that
there was Someone

Irving Berlin Spark Notes
INTRODUCTION Irving Berlin is one of the most representative figures in America s history due to
his passion, poise, and the brilliancy of his musical compositions. He is one of the most well known
inventive songwriters of the twentieth century. He is usually recognised for two compositions in
particular: God Bless America and White Christmas. Both his life and his lyrics have sad and
remarkable stories behind them but powerful nonetheless.
His Life Born with the name Israel Baline on May 11, 1888, Irving Berlin was born in the small town
of Tyumen, Russia to parents in abject poverty. His family of eight escaped from Russia from religious
persecution to settle in a jewish community in New York City. As early as the age of eight, Irving had
to help support his family by delivering newspapers. It was said that he was introduced to music
because as he passed passed by the popular saloons and restaurants, he heard music wafting through
the open doors. He then memorised the songs that were being played and started to sing them

happened yesterday. Did they change something about the plan without telling me? Well... Jack drives
for a few seconds before he stubbornly starts to explain, Your parents came over to my house and
explained to me that you actually did, well everything you did, that the reason that you were expelled
and had to move was that you would vandalize a lot of stuff beyond school property. Like stuff I guess
that were similar to what you did just know. The last thing they told me was to not pick you up from
somewhere if you called to ask me to tonight, they told me that if you called me tonight I should get
your address from you and call the police to get you instead. They told you to not pick me up? Yeah.
They told you to send the police? Yeah or tell them. How did they tell you to tell them? Jack replies,
They told me to call this number. Jack opens his car s glove compartment and takes out a folded piece

Analysis of Sean Covey´s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective...
Effective Habits in Teens Lives Being a teenager can be challenging sometimes. Not many teens can
easily cope with the pressure that comes from school, family, and friends. The author Sean Covey
published The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens as a helpful book for teens that face many
uncertainties during the emotional stage of growing up and getting ready to become adults someday.
Since Covey managed to capture the readers heart with many relatable short stories along with deep
insights, this engaging book has become widely popular among teens as well as adults who influence
young people. In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey does not only discuss the
essential principles to deal with daily situations, he also provides guidance on how to succeed in life
by being proactive, defining goals, and making priorities. In the first chapter, one of the many steps to
live a productive and successful life is being proactive. Proactive people think carefully before making
any major or minor decisions, and most importantly, they take responsibilities for their behaviors.
They often come to the conclusion of their choices based on values and principles instead of impulses
or circumstances. They remain calm under situations that many find easy to break down because of
peer pressure. Those who are proactive in their lives cannot control the situation; however, they can
control what to do with it rather than giving in. Proactive people do not just want something; they

The Power System Operation And Control
School of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering MSc in Electrical Power Systems 2014 2015
Assigment.1 Power System Operation and Control Newton Raphson and Decoupled Newton Raphson
Power Flow Solutions using MATLAB ID: 1501113 Summary The power flow analysis involves the
calculations of power flows and voltages of a transmission network for specified terminal or bus
condition. Such calculations are required for the analysis of steady state as well as dynamic
performance of power systems [1]. The power flow is also called load flow. Some classification
should be represented before carry out the analysis of power flow. Such as, the bus classifications or
types like voltage controlled bus (PV), load bus (PQ) or slack bus (Swing). In addition to that, the
representation of network elements should be considered and the magnitude calculated in per unit. The
iterative techniques are used to solve the power flow equations such as Gauss Seidel, Newton
Raphson and Decoupled Newton Raphson methods. Each method has its equations and principle to
reach the solution. The difference between them appeared in which method is more accurate and fast
to get the results. The system which assigned to be solved by Newton Raphson and Decoupled
Newton Raphson methods includes two bus. Bus.1 is slack bus where voltage is given and bus.2 is a
PQ bus where load power is given. The impedance of the transmission system between bus.1 and
bus.2 is given. To calculate the power flow

Paper Assignment #2
Character Foils for Odysseus
The Odyssey is the epic that has been read time and time again, by varying ages, digging its way into
our hearts, becoming an instant classic. Odysseus and the adventures of his homecoming create a
much different tale than Homer s other work, the Iliad, provided. The epic is not about bloodthirsty
men trying to get their hands on kleos anymore; it is about the homecoming of a man who uses his
wits, not his weapon. In the Odyssey, the characters balance Homer provides contrasting characters to
show the readers the traits that Odysseus holds and how it builds his character development and even
those who are foils to him. Odysseus own son, Trojan War ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Agamemnon was stabbed to death by the vengeful tag team. Agamemnon s son, Orestes, unleashed
vengeance upon his mother and her lover. Agamemnon s family is a foil for Odysseus family life.
Odysseus family loves him very dearly and has done no wrong as he was away. Penelope, unlike
Clytemnestra, stays loyal to Odysseus and even creates an ingenious plan to keep the suitors off her
back. Telemachos on the other hand has to deal with the suitors who are trying to marry his mother
and have been dishonoring his father, Odysseus, eating their fill since they sat their butts on the stools
they deem as weapons. Telemachos can t even stand up to the suitors as Agamemnon s son took
revenge on the people who killed his father. This shows how Telemachos should be as a son and will
soon be as he grows up to be more like his father. Menelaos had a long homecoming due to the gods,
just as Odysseus had. Menelaos angered the Egyptian gods, due to the lack of knowledge of Egyptian
customs. He was able to get home with all of his crew, unlike Odysseus, who was a lone survivor.
Although Menelaos had an easier homecoming than Odysseus, he did not have a faithful wife, just
like Agamemnon. Helen was the reason for the Trojan War; for Menelaos it was not easy to forgive an
unfaithful wife to that degree. He cannot rejoin the present as easily due to all that was lost in Troy,
destined to be full of grief for

Federal Aviation Act Of 1938
Aviation has been in rapid growth since its beginning in the early 20th century. With that rapid growth
that created challenges. Who will regulate the airways? Should we have a certifying official? What
will the rules of flying be? With those questions in mind the government passed the Civil Aeronautics
Act of 1938. The Civil Aeronautics Act transferred federal responsibilities for non military aviation
from the Bureau of Air Commerce to a new, independent agency, the Civil Aeronautics Authority
(Civil Aeronautics Act of 1938, n.d.). In order to see how the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 came into
conception, it s important to look how the government got involved in Aviation in the first place and

The reorganization of how the government will create regulations for aviation has now come to its
final home, the future of United States day to day aeronautical operations is now the responsibility of
the FAA. The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 was a big step that the government took to getting to how
we know Aviation today. When you think of United States Aviation the FAA usually comes to mind,
and for good reason, the FAA has been a huge component in shaping new technologies and ways of
running the National Airspace System (NAS). All of these contributions to the advancement
aeronautics, through the FAA, could not have been possible if it weren t for the reconstruction of
government involvement in aviation. From the Air Commerce Act of 1926, to the Federal Aviation Act
of 1958, the government has had a significant influence on how we conduct day to day aeronautical
operations, ranging from reducing emissions, to improving navigational systems, and ATC

Lucy Honeychild V. Emerson
Lucy Honeychild and her elder cousin, Charlotte, visit Florence, Italy. The story begins with the two
young women staying in a hotel. The two young women are disappointed with their rooms due to the
lack of an elegant view of the Arno River. Two other guests at the hotel, Mr. Emerson and his son,
George, overhear their displeasure with their room and offer to switch rooms with the girls. Charlotte
is offended by this offer, feeling as though Mr. Emerson s offer was completely inappropriate, but
agrees to the room switch after some convincing. Mr. Emerson is frequently viewed by the other
characters as being offensive and rude; however, he is just a bit misinterpreted and misguided when it
comes to social interactions and propriety. Lucy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically, the Emersons end up moving into Lucy s town. Lucy s fiance, Cecil, is oblivious and
unknowing of the quick and sporadic relationship between Lucy and George. Quickly, Lucy realizes
her true love is George, not Cecil. Cecil reads a scene from a cheesy romance novel that was written
by one of the previous hotel guests from back when Lucy and George were guests as well. The scene
is quite similar to the kiss Lucy and George had shared on the countryside. Cecil finds the scene
absolutely hilarious and essentially makes fun of it, but Lucy and George are left recollecting their
kiss. Lucy is then torn between what to do. She loves George but holds societal pressure to marry
Cecil. She eventually ends up sending George away, but not before George opens her eyes to see how
ridiculous Cecil truly is. Lucy breaks off her engagement with Cecil, but ultimately, she is left with no
one to love. She attempts to escape her feelings by taking an improptu vacation to Greece. Before
making it to Greece, Lucy comes face to face with Mr. Emerson, who begs Lucy to open her eyes to
her love for George. The novel ultimately ends with Lucy breaking all societal expectations and
standards, as she and George check into a room with a view in Florence,

Media s Impact on Politics Essay
Here in America, we try to pay close attention to everything that goes on in the government. Whatever
decision they make we want to know when, where, why, and how. This is because whatever decision
that they make will determine what will happen with this country as a whole in the long run. So what
is the best way to find out what s going on with our government? Why the media of course. The media
plays a major part in every aspect of the government including what happens in elections, the
reporting of major military operations and how the American people will react to certain political
situations or scandals. Here are some the ways that the media affects the way we think when it comes
to the government.
The Right to Laugh: Media Satire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One recent case where the mass media poked fun at and satirized the government was the year 2000
election. In the time where ballots and votes became confused and the state of Florida became the
punch line to many a water cooler joke, shows such as the ones above took the story and ran with it.
From the very beginning the satire of political figures played its role in the election. According to the
Washington Post and the Pew Research Center, 47 percent of Americans under the age of 30 receive
around 26% of their information about candidates, amongst other political matters, through late night
comedy television. This trend has been labeled by many Infotainment. The viewers are receiving
information about political issues and their government, but through a sarcastic or humorous filter that
creates a different culture of informed citizens.
When the poll results in the 2000 election came in, the jokes seemed to last longer than the re counts.
Even now 3 years later the jokes continue to be evoked. Recently at the academy awards, while on
stage to receive his academy award for his very humorous gun control documentary Bowling for
Columbine Michael Moore called George W. Bush a fictitious president while following with jokes
about the pope and the Dixie chicks.
Indeed, when we live in an entertainment and media saturated culture such as the USA, such

Woodrow Wilson was a candidate for president for the Democrat Political Party. He was running
against William Taft, a Republican, and Theodore Roosevelt, running as an Independent. Wilson had
won the election in that year in 1912. He had become president at the age of 56, he was president
number 28. His vice president was Thomas R. Marshall. When WWI broke out in Europe 1914 Wilson
was determined to keep America out of the war. Also, that August of 1914 Wilson s wife Ellen died
because of swelling of the kidneys. In 1915 a German Submarine sank a British ocean liner killing
128 Americans. America still remained neutral but warned if anything else happed it would be seen as
deliberately unfriendly. In December of 1915, Wilson married another woman named Edith Bolling
Galt. In 1916 Wilson was elected for another term with the same vice president. In his second term
German submarines launched attacks on U.S. merchant ships. On April 2, 1917, Wilson declared war
on Germany. In that time he made a famous quote: War isn t declared in the name of God; it is a
human affair entirely. America brought victory, along with its allies. On November 11, 1918 an

Shakespeare s Play, Othello, is More than a Tragedy
The audience can perceive Shakespeare s play Othello as just a tragic play of a jealous man in the
early 1600s thinking that his wife is cheating on him with another man. It could be just that, however
it could be something much deeper. Many argue that the main character Othello may have had a
Oedipal Complex. This is a psychoanalytical theory introduced by Sigmund Freud in 1899. It is the
idea that one has a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex and a sense of
rivalry with the parent of the same sex. The term is derived from a hero of a Greek legend named
Oedipus who unknowingly killed his father and married his mother. Connections can be made to this
complex through the relationship between Othello and his wife Desdemona. Throughout Shakespeare
s play Othello , the audience can take notice of the Oedipal complex in Othello by the handkerchief
being a reflection of his feeling for his mother.
The handkerchief patterned with strawberries given to Desdemona as a token of love explains Othello
s attachment to his mother. He tells Desdemona that it was given to him by his mother and it would
ensure the spouse s love when kept, but if lost, one would lose the love too. In the play, it seems as
though Othello becomes seriously obsessed with the item. The key here, however, is in the fact that
the handkerchief originally belonged to Othello s mother. He wants to keep the image of his mother
alive, and he does this by giving the handkerchief to

  • 2. The Job of a Lawyer The Job of a Lawyer I can t think of a better job than arguing with people. Ever since I was little I was very good at arguing and everyone I ve argued with or heard me argued said to me, You would make a great lawyer . These Lawyers have to take on many jobs and responsibilities, they also take a certain physical qualifications as well as mental. You are there to make sure people get justice that someone gets the closure or help they need to move on with their lives. Fighting crime doesn t always mean literally. Being a lawyer means long hours and countless numbers of paperwork. Trial lawyers spend most of their time researching clients cases(Lawyer 1 ) . The job requires you to look into cases as well as records, comprehend the vocabulary, and be able to speak to people to get the information. In this job you also handle a lot of paper work. You have to look for things in cases that most people won t see such as loop holes and a alibi as well as be confident enough to win your case and your clients trust. Lawyers, also called attorneys, act as both advocates and advisors. As advocators they represent one of the parties in criminal or civil trials by presenting evidence and arguing in support of the client. As advisors, lawyers counsel their clients about their legal right and obligations and suggest course of the action in business and personal matters (Lawyer 3 ) . By playing two roles they have to take on two different personalities, one as the stern heartless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Sorority Is A Subculture Or A Segment Of Society s... All around the world sororities are a subculture or a segment of society s population on most college campuses (Macionis 64). These sororities have their own language, norms, beliefs, and values. Most college campuses have many charters or different sororities to choose from when a student wants to pledge a sorority. On the Saint Francis University campus, there are seven sororities that a female student can belong to. Each sorority has a different philanthropy which is a foundation that the sorority stands behind. For example Delta Phi Epsilon stands behind the Educational Foundation, this foundation helps women get the education that they deserve. Sororities are known for creating a bond between girls that last a life time. The sororities have their own language, they use words like pledge, bid, big, little, active, lavaliere, letters, and philanthropy. A pledge is a person who accepts a bid, and a bid is an invitation to a specific chapter at their school (Nakagoshi 1). When a female student wants to pledge a sorority they interview for a bid and the sorority decides if they want to have the new student pledge or not. If the pledge gets the bid then the student gets a big, a big is an older girl who has been part of the sorority for a year of more, and the big is like a big sister they are supposed to care of their little or new pledge (Nakagoshi 1). An active is a member of the sorority that has been part of the sorority for a few years. When a sister is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Parking In City Heights Finding a space for parking in City Height proves difficult, as most are already taken, but I manage to navigate into a space in a neighborhood lined with houses and front yards. Walking onto University Avenue, I pass a vibrant collection of local businesses buildings such as tortillerias, one stop shop clothing stores, travel agencies, autoshops and supermercados painted in bright pinks, greens, and blues with Spanish banners. In my awe of all the colors, I almost bump into a fellow pedestrian moving fast down the sidewalk, and realize the heavy amount of pedestrian and bike traffic for an early weekday morning. My eyes rise above the single story business buildings and lock onto a modern, multi story, muted auburn colors rising above the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While being one of the largest, it has also been known in the past as the most ethnic example of neighborhoods. Resident of City Heights and writer of San Diego Free Press Anna Daniels describes how the street vendors used to advertise their specialties to the apartments walls from the pedestrian walks of the center square of the community, La fruta, la tortilla, las verduras, se van , and choices from variety authentic mom and pop shops. This small entrepreneurship activity used to mark the essence of the hub of City Heights, but has since been struck off the map at the epicenter by the Premium Office Spaces, rising above and casting a shadow over the rest of the community. If the residents had created a working market to their own making, why did the city undergo the City Heights Redevelopment Project? The answer, I believe, is an incredibly biased one: because street vendors and mom and pop shops limit capitalist control over a public space. Largely Latino communities, like City Heights, are targeted because such ethnic liveliness blur[s] the lines between commercial and residential activities (Rojas, 38. Added letter is my own.). To allow this cultural infusion would relinquish control of the central space of the community to the locals, and therefore must be redeveloped at first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Waiting For Godot Originally performed in 1953 in French, Samuel Beckett s Waiting for Godot took the stage at the Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto. The play tells the story of Vladimir and Estragon, two men who wait for Godot, someone or something they have not met to seen. The Soulpepper Production illustrates the journey that plays with Vladimir and Estragon s mind and emotion, in regard to the interactions with their surroundings and themselves. The main focus of the production directs the audience s attention towards an enclosed setting that limit the actions originally sought in the play. The production however, focused more on Vladimir and Estragon s relationship, the play does not capture the same effect. Thus, the production is a mere interpretation from what the play offers in portraying the stage. From the play to the stage, Waiting for Godot illustrates how an enclosed setting represents Vladimir and Estragon s mind. The production revolved around how the set and setting illustrated how the characters interacted with one another and their surroundings. The structure of the stage appeared to look like an alley way with concrete styled wall and a tree placed in the center; the setting which occurred in a rectangular box. Therefore, Vladimir and Estragon performed in an enclosed space; thus, represented their mind. Originally, the play takes place in a country road and Estragon sits on a mound, but the production has the actor playing Estragon sitting on a concrete brick. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The impact of these two epic tales socially and culturally on audiences watching these films is astounding, they make you think about the abuse, violence, marginalization, racism etc. going on in the world and possibly your back yard so to speak. The actors, specifically Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) and Cate Blanchett (Little Fish), put you in their characters shoes and make you think and feel as their character would in their situations and journeys through life. • 7. The God s Script Short Story The God s Script, by Jorge Luis Borges, is representing the structure of knowledge through a dream of Tzinacán, the central character, and the narrative presence of the jaguar. Borges wrote the short story to describe Tzinacán s dream of the god s script, a language that would help him fulfill his destiny while he is imprisoned: his destiny is to be able to die in peace. Tzinacán is a magician of the pyramid of Qaholom. He can survive torture in silence; he will never lose hope. In this short story, Borges is trying to say the dreams reveal knowledge of things that can come to reality. Tzinacán, the central character, is a magician. He knows he will not see daylight again besides the split second of light through the openings. However, Tzinacán s gods also give him hope for his destiny in prison. One of his gods is represented as the pyramid of Qaholom, that is burned and demolished. As he said, They struck down the idol of the god before my very eyes, but he did not abandon me and I endured the torments in silence (169). When he talks about the pyramid, he seems like he is more pleased that his gods are here with him instead of completely disappearing. He clearly stated that they are not abandoning him; even though he is being tortured, they do not leave his side. The impressions of the things that are happening to him are like the things that happen to his gods. Tzinacán senses that the things he thinks about represent furthering his knowledge, getting him closer to knowing his god s script. He knows of the script, but wants more structured knowledge of and the whereabouts of the script. As he stated, The fact that a prison confined me did not forbid my hope; perhaps I had seen the script of Qaholom a thousand times and needed only to fathom it (170). He reflects that it is only right that the gods are leaving access to the script to him to have as part his destiny. From the tone of the story, the knowledge he has of his gods ... The Ashridge Strategic Management Centre conducted a 2 year research project designed to fill this gap. Is it possible to reconcile these two different interpretations? Are they conflicting theories or are they simply separate parts of the same picture? • 9. Rhetorical Analysis Of Patton s Speech This is a rhetorical analysis of Lieutenant General George S. Patton s Speech to the Third United States Army. It was a very successful speech given to the troops of the United States Third Army in 1944 before the invasion of France. After examining the genre, purpose of this speech, General Patton s audience, and how General Patton used ethos, logos, and pathos we can see why this iconic speech was so successful. First we will take a look at the genre of this piece. The genre is very important in literature because they are like guidelines that outline what your piece should have in it. For example if someone wanted you to write a speech you would look at examples of other speeches and see how they get a point across. You would not for instance look at a series of papers under the Lab Report genre for ideas on how to write a speech. When General George S. Patton was tasked with speaking in front of thousands of troops the speech genre was the appropriate way to address so many people. Secondly this speech is very focused on a purpose, to motivate the listener, give confidence, and hope. General George S. Patton motivates by taking in consideration for his audience and exploiting it. The listeners are all inexperienced soldiers who are scared of going into combat for the first time. Patton already has a reputation of being a hardcore successful, seasoned general. Everyone looks up to him and he uses lines such as That s why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. to motivate people. When the soldiers of the Third Army hear Patton talk about how All real Americans love to fight it motivates all these very patriotic people because they link their love of country to loving the fight. Another great is example is when Patton states And we have the best team we have the finest food and equipment, the best spirit and the best men in the world. Why, by God, I actually pity these poor bastards we re going up against. . Patton is making everything sound great saying that they have the best of everything, that they can t lose, and even that they have it so good he actually feels sorry for the people they are going up against. These examples are textbook motivation and it really makes Patton ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The article is a part of a project themed The War Machine , published online by The British Library. The article captured my interest largely due to the huge amount of information and facts cited in the article comprising the use of aviation in World War One. • 11. The Media s Portrayal Of Asian Americans Throughout history, the media has been known to be influential towards how individuals of society perceive the world and their environment. This influence can lead to people creating prejudices towards those who are highlighted by the media. It also has the ability to change the attitude of one person towards another class of people and stereotype them in positive, but mostly negative ways. One population that has played victim to the repercussions of the mass media is Asian Americans, who have been oppressed and deemed a minority by Americans. The media s portrayal of Asian Americans has had detrimental effects on one s opportunities, performance, and their perception of the world. The mass media consists of any means of communication that has the ability to reach a large amount of people. The term media can refer to movies, television, the newspaper, etc. It is because of it s ability to out reach to a mass quantity of people that it is able to reinforce and teach societal values. At a young age, socialization occurs in that it involves the learning of the values and the norms of society and adopting them into their own personal values (Perse, 2001.) Children often have little life experience so they learn and imitate their environment whether that be the characters on television or societal institutions like their families or teachers at school. • 12. College Dropout Papers College Dropouts throughout the U.S. There are many reasons why over the years the United States has experienced a high college dropout rate among college students. The dropout rate results in unqualified and poorly skilled workers who eventually apply for low paying jobs and then realize the importance of a college degree. College dropout rates throughout the U.S. are caused by several reasons, including, lack of finance, lack of academic readiness, and stress. Many students have aspirations about attending the college of their dreams, but many people lack financial support and are not able to go because of high tuition payments, such as housing, and other college expenses. U.S. Student Loans Debt Statistics for 2017 indicate that the cost of attending college is becoming a growing burden for a huge portion of Americans. (Student Loan Hero). Students are left with the option of dropping and leaving school. Even after receiving some financial support, such as scholarships and grants, students have limited amount of money to pay off their expenses. At the start of their college career, students apply for the colleges they would like to go to, and many forget about the financial decision that is required to pay for college. A 2010 study on more than 200,000 freshmen at four year colleges, more students rated themselves as below average in emotional health than ever before. The financial stress of worrying about their college loans and whether they ll find a job after college and the day to day stress of making decisions for themselves in all aspects of their lives. (Allianz). Unfortunately, freshman students are the main group of college students that go through financial conflicts, leading to stress about how to pay for college. Some students choose to work their way through college. Others decide they d rather be making money working full time than pursuing a costly degree. Still others become discouraged at the prospect of incurring loan debt (College View). This method uses the mass of solid SO42 , with an unknown quantity and quality, to qualitatively determine the makeup of the solid SO3 . Two separate experiments with the initial compounds of BaCl2 and SO42 were put into solution to allow for the BaSO4 precipitate to form. Through filtration and ignition of precipitate containing ashless papers, the solid masses of BaSO4 were attained. With a gravimetric factor of 1:1, sample 1 resulted in the formation of 0.5874g BaSO4 from 0.4004g of SO42 , while sample 2 resulted in the formation of 0.4073g BaSO4 from 0.3985g of SO42 . Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis Andrew Sink Mr. McCain Advanced English, period 6 22 September 2014 Raw Human Nature In the novel Lord of The Flies by William Golding, a plane crashes on an island and a group of young English boys are forced to fend for themselves as well as each other in hope of rescue. In this novel Golding makes several comments on the tendencies of man when in the absence of a social structure. Throughout the book, Golding tells the reader about human nature. When humans completely give in to human nature, chaos erupts. Through the use of the fire, the beast, and Piggy s glasses William Golding shows how human nature slowly pulls away from civilization when there is no social structure. One way that Golding conveys his message about human nature is with the fire and its smoke. In a sense, the fire is an indicator of the civilization level of the boys. Towards the beginning of the story, Ralph works very hard at keeping up the fire. The other boys help him because they want to be rescued as well. They want the fire to ... Ralph uses Piggy s specs so he can make his signal fires, but when Jack breaks away and forms his own tribe. He steals Piggy s glasses so he can have fire for cooking his meat. The spectacles have the power to save them all from the island, such as Ralph s signal fires, or destroy them all, such as Jack creating a forest fire in an attempt to kill Ralph. Sandbox Vs Android Security Essay The kernel enforces security between applications and the system at the process level through standard Linux facilities, such as user and group IDs that are assigned to applications. By default, applications cannot interact with each other and applications have limited access to the Operating System. If application A tries to do something malicious like read application B s data or dial the phone without permission (a separate application), then the Operating System protects against this, because application A does not have the appropriate user privileges. All these features together are called the sandbox that jails the actions done by applications: the sandbox is simple, auditable, and based on decades old UNIX style user separation of ... • 18. Convection Current ( Chris Woodford 2014 ) Background Information Figure 1: Convection Current (Chris Woodford 2014) The first fully automatic electric kettle was released by Russell Hobbs in 1956. It boiled water in the most efficient manner that had ever been seen previously. A coil of thick metal called a heating element was located at the bottom of the kettle (Chris Woodford 2014). By plugging in the kettle into an electrical outlet an electric current is able to flow into the heating element. As the element has a certain resistance it converts the electrical energy into heat, heating the cold water surrounding the element. The higher the temperature, the faster the atom is (Chris Woodford 2014). Therefore, the faster atoms from the element collide with the slower atoms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using this value it can be determined how my energy is required to raise the temperature of one litre of water from 20°C, to 100°C, as done by a kettle(Hyper Physics 2014). The amount of energy needed to boil the litre of water is; 4.2 × 1000 grams × 80 degrees = 336,000 joules, therefore it takes 336 kJ to raise the temperature by 80°C. The main two materials that surround kettles are plastic and metals (Engineering Toolbox 2014). Each material acts differently in terms of thermal conductivity, therefore altering how much heat is released into the air surrounding the kettle (Engineering Toolbox 2014). The most common plastic used is Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) as it is flame retardant, has a high heat resistance, high impact resistance and has good chemical resistance (Professional Plastics 2014). However, plastic is generally not as long lasting as metal as it is thin and is easier to break. On the other hand, the most common metal used in the construction of kettles is stainless steel. It is used because it retains a high strength at elevated temperatures, has a high tensile strength and is a poor conductor of electricity, meaning users are not at risk of electrocution (eMachineShop 2014). Stainless steel is also used as it generally lasts longer than plastic and because of its aesthetics. If there is an increase in military spending, the government spending for other social institutions (education, health care, and food/agriculture) would decrease. By looking at this situation through the Functionalist perspective, one can identify various manifest/latent functions/dysfunctions. The manifest function or intending effect of this change was to allow for our military to expand and cause an increase in enrollment. A larger military would result in better protection for not only our country but other countries that we have alliances with. In addition, the increase in size would cause an increased fear/respect of the American military around the world. The latent function or unintended effect of this change would be an arms race among adversarial countries. It is possible that this arms race could ultimately lead to war. Colin Beavan got in touch with some foodies and asked what they did for eating environmentally conscience. And Colin and his wife found other activities to do during their normal TV time, like preparing ingredients for their meals and spending time with their friends. Colin even went as far as to visit the farm that he gets his milk from just to see if the farmer s ideals lined up with his. This chapter brought up a good point about the antibiotics regulations for organic farming. As someone who was once a member of 4 H if you are planning on raising market animals the healthier the animal is the better. So when the USDA set the no antibiotics standard for market animals to be considered organic is unrealistic because in order to have a shot at raising healthy animals they need to get shots to keep them from getting sick. And this doesn t just apply to 4 H, it applies to commercial farms too and that s why some of them treat their animals so badly. Commercial farms try to follow the USDA rules but aren t making enough money to keep their animals healthy so when they get sick the animals are hurriedly pushed to get well without the use of vet care, because that s money that they could use to buy more animals instead of trying to care for the ones they have. This doesn t condone the methods the commercial farms use but it is easier to care for the animals better when you are a 4 H er and raising 1 3 animals per year as opposed to a factory farm raising 60 70 animals per year. ... If I had to create my own definition of honesty to replace the common definition, I would say that to be honest, would be to stay true. True to others, true to the world, and true to yourself. To get to how I came up with this definition we have to go back to the common definition of honesty, which is not to tell lies. • 36. The Person of Christ Essay The Person of Christ When discussing and proving the person of Christ, there are two basic laws that must be addressed and proven. First you must prove that Christ is one hundred percent human (humanity), then you must prove that at the same time Christ is one hundred percent God (deity). As human, Christ had a body, he had a soul and spirit, he had human characteristics, and he was called by human names. In Luke 2:52, it is written that Christ, even though he had a virgin birth, He was born with a human body that was conceived by a human body. Christ s humanity included both the material and immaterial aspects of the human body (he was flesh but at the same time he was also Soul and Spirit). For Christians, The elements of ... Not only is he Christ, but the Son of God, and called God in the New Testament. The Johannine teaching includes the following passages: John 1:1, 18, where some manuscripts read the only begotten God, and that unusual reading may be regarded as grounds for accepting its authenticity; 20:28, where Thomas used both kurios and theos of Jesus; and 1 John 5:20. It is preferable to ascribe the phrase God blessed forever to Christ (Ryre Basic Theology p. 56) . Apart from his distinction as human, there is evidence of oneness. The New Testament insists that there is only one true God in James 2:19 as it states, You believe that there is only God. Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder. Christ is part of the Trinity and is recognized as God in creation John 1:3, judge of all things in the future john 5:27, and he has omniscience Matthew 9:4. Charles Ryre proves Christ s deity and involvement in the Trinity in Basic Theology, as he writes, How then do we arrive at a clear doctrine of the Trinity? Simply by accepting two lines of evidence in the bible: (a) clear statements that teach there is only one God; and (b)equally clear statements that there was Someone ... Unlike many of the Mexican cartels, the Sinaloa Cartel exports large quantities of multiple drugs into the United States. Pablo Escobar is considered one of the most notorious drug lords in history. Escobar s cartel was only in charge of exporting cocaine into the United States. The Sinaloa Cartel exports cocaine, methamphetamines, and marijuana into the United States. The leader of the Sinaloa Cartel is Joaquin el chapo Guzman. While El Chapo is a very well known international drug kingpin, he has proven that he is almost as good at escaping from prison. El Chapo has multiple prison escapes under his belt. He most recently escaped from the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 1, which is a maximum security prison in Mexico. The Sinaloa Cartel was founded by Jaime Hererra Nevares, Ernesto Fonseca Carillo, Eduardo Fernandez, Jorge Escobar, Pedro Aviles Perez, Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, and Hector Luis Palma (Beith, 2011, p. 68). The Sinaloa Cartel is a culmination of different Mexican drug organizations. Herrera was in charge of an organization that exported heroine from Mexico through Chicago using what is known as the heroin highway (Beith, 2011). Eventually the Herrera organization teamed up with Ernesto Fonseca and Jorge Escobar who were key figures in the Sinaloan drug world. The Mexican government launched Operation Condor which forced ... His Life Born with the name Israel Baline on May 11, 1888, Irving Berlin was born in the small town of Tyumen, Russia to parents in abject poverty. His family of eight escaped from Russia from religious persecution to settle in a jewish community in New York City. It was said that he was introduced to music because as he passed passed by the popular saloons and restaurants, he heard music wafting through the open doors. He then memorised the songs that were being played and started to sing them attracting people and their money. When he was thirteen, his father died and Irving moved out of his house to become a singing waiter in a local saloon. After his shifts, Irving taught himself how to play music on the piano in the saloon. In the first chapter, one of the many steps to live a productive and successful life is being proactive. Proactive people think carefully before making any major or minor decisions, and most importantly, they take responsibilities for their behaviors. They often come to the conclusion of their choices based on values and principles instead of impulses or circumstances. They remain calm under situations that many find easy to break down because of peer pressure. Those who are proactive in their lives cannot control the situation; however, they can control what to do with it rather than giving in. Proactive people do not just want something; they ... Such calculations are required for the analysis of steady state as well as dynamic performance of power systems [1]. The power flow is also called load flow. Some classification should be represented before carry out the analysis of power flow. Such as, the bus classifications or types like voltage controlled bus (PV), load bus (PQ) or slack bus (Swing). In addition to that, the representation of network elements should be considered and the magnitude calculated in per unit. The iterative techniques are used to solve the power flow equations such as Gauss Seidel, Newton Raphson and Decoupled Newton Raphson methods. Each method has its equations and principle to reach the solution. The difference between them appeared in which method is more accurate and fast to get the results. The system which assigned to be solved by Newton Raphson and Decoupled Newton Raphson methods includes two bus. Bus.1 is slack bus where voltage is given and bus.2 is a PQ bus where load power is given. The impedance of the transmission system between bus.1 and bus.2 is given. To calculate the power flow ... Telemachos on the other hand has to deal with the suitors who are trying to marry his mother and have been dishonoring his father, Odysseus, eating their fill since they sat their butts on the stools they deem as weapons. Telemachos can t even stand up to the suitors as Agamemnon s son took revenge on the people who killed his father. Menelaos angered the Egyptian gods, due to the lack of knowledge of Egyptian customs. He was able to get home with all of his crew, unlike Odysseus, who was a lone survivor. • 45. Media s Impact on Politics Essay Here in America, we try to pay close attention to everything that goes on in the government. Whatever decision they make we want to know when, where, why, and how. This is because whatever decision that they make will determine what will happen with this country as a whole in the long run. So what is the best way to find out what s going on with our government? Why the media of course. The media plays a major part in every aspect of the government including what happens in elections, the reporting of major military operations and how the American people will react to certain political situations or scandals. Here are some the ways that the media affects the way we think when it comes to the government. The Right to Laugh: Media Satire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One recent case where the mass media poked fun at and satirized the government was the year 2000 election. In the time where ballots and votes became confused and the state of Florida became the punch line to many a water cooler joke, shows such as the ones above took the story and ran with it. From the very beginning the satire of political figures played its role in the election. According to the Washington Post and the Pew Research Center, 47 percent of Americans under the age of 30 receive around 26% of their information about candidates, amongst other political matters, through late night comedy television. This trend has been labeled by many Infotainment. The viewers are receiving information about political issues and their government, but through a sarcastic or humorous filter that creates a different culture of informed citizens. When the poll results in the 2000 election came in, the jokes seemed to last longer than the re counts. Even now 3 years later the jokes continue to be evoked. • 47. Shakespeare s Play, Othello, is More than a Tragedy The audience can perceive Shakespeare s play Othello as just a tragic play of a jealous man in the early 1600s thinking that his wife is cheating on him with another man. It could be just that, however it could be something much deeper. Many argue that the main character Othello may have had a Oedipal Complex. This is a psychoanalytical theory introduced by Sigmund Freud in 1899. It is the idea that one has a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex and a sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex. The term is derived from a hero of a Greek legend named Oedipus who unknowingly killed his father and married his mother. Connections can be made to this complex through the relationship between Othello and his wife Desdemona. Throughout Shakespeare s play Othello , the audience can take notice of the Oedipal complex in Othello by the handkerchief being a reflection of his feeling for his mother. The handkerchief patterned with strawberries given to Desdemona as a token of love explains Othello s attachment to his mother. He tells Desdemona that it was given to him by his mother and it would ensure the spouse s love when kept, but if lost, one would lose the love too. In the play, it seems as though Othello becomes seriously obsessed with the item. The key here, however, is in the fact that the handkerchief originally belonged to Othello s mother. He wants to keep the image of his mother alive, and he does this by giving the handkerchief to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
