Cultural Comparisons of India and China
NATIONAL CULTURE OF CHINAAND INDIA IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF HUMAN
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Introduction
1. Increased business globalization, emergence of new economic hubs like BRIC countries (Brazil,
Russia, India and China) as well as more intense competition among organizations at the domestic and
international level alike over the past two decades, have necessitated the need for studies in the
comparative Human Resource Management (HRM) (Budhwar amp; Sparrow, 2002a). As a result, a
growing number of conceptual (Aycan, 2005; Edwards amp; Kuruvilla, 2005) and empirical studies
(Bae, Chen, amp; Lawler, 1998; Budhwar amp; Sparrow, 2002b; Easterby Smith, Malina, amp; Yuan,

Hall describes context as the information that surrounds an event. In high context societies, the
situation, the external environment and non verbal cues are crucial in the communication process.
However, this approach fits much better with a generic concept of culture, in the sense of a broad
cultural community such as Arabs, Latins or Chinese, than with the constrained boundaries of a nation
state, where individual and organizational diversity allows for a pluralistic coexistence of both low
and high context.
9. The work of Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck (1961) offers another useful framework to understand
cultural differences. Viewing culture as a set of assumptions and deep level values regarding
relationships among humans and between humans and their environments, Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck
proposed four basic value orientations, which can be further divided into sub dimensions to capture
the complex cultural variations across societies. The major orientations in their model are human
nature (evil, mixed, good), man nature relationship (subjugation, harmony, dominant), social relation
with people (hierarchical, collateral, individual), human activity (being, becoming, doing), and time
sense (past, present, future). The cultural orientation framework has been adopted by researchers to
explain variations of HRM practices across countries (e.g., Aycan et al., 2007; Nyambegera et al.,

Factors Of Variability In Re-Emergence Of SST Anomalies
As discussed in Chapter 1 (section 1.1.3), ML variability is a crucial factor that controls the variability
in re emergence of SST anomalies. Refer to Chapter 3 for a more comprehensive description of the
variability of MLD and its interaction with local atmospheric forcing.
Previous studies have shown that the ML in the midlatitude oceans undergoes substantial seasonal
change (Montery and Levitus 1997; Kara et al. 2000; Cronin and Kessler 2002;
Kara et al. 2003; Montégut et al. 2004; Halkides and Lee 2009) and, hence, re emergence is expected
to be more likely. Hanawa and Sugimoto (2004) have uncovered the global regions of occurrence of re
emergence and located seven re emergence areas in the global ocean (see Figure 1.4 in Chapter 1) ...

The ocean reanalysis data sets (GECCO2 and NCEP GODAS) have made use of recently available
hydrographic and satellite data for assimilating the ocean field with a general circulation model.
Although biases and errors arise between reanalysis products due to different data assimilation
methods (Kröger et al. 2012), these datasets could mitigate the uncertainty in producing reliable data.
We will also demonstrate the skill of CMIP5 models to generate signals of re emergence.
Furthermore, we will discuss various factors that influence the re emergence process in the global
ocean. Deser et al. (2003) have developed a stochastic climate model by adding entrainment of
temperature anomalies at the bottom of the winter mixed layer to the simple null hypothesis of
Frankignoul and Hasselmann (1977). The proposed implicit entraining stochastic climate model was
useful in producing the re emergence signal. As expected, these stochastic model results showed that
the re emergence mechanism enhances the SST variability at interannual and longer timescale.
Moreover, the strength of the re emergence signal is augmented when the active ML in winter is
deeper. Instead of a simple stochastic model, we use the KPP single column mixed layer model forced
by stochastic atmospheric forcing to understand various factors influencing the mechanism. These
include a) influence of anomalous MLD, b) the impact of different

The Survival Of Organisms Depends On Adaptive Behavior And...
Survival of organisms depends on adaptive behavior and species interactions. Taxis is less or more
automatic movement towards or away from a stimulus or direct movement. An example of taxis is
when a plant is put by a windowsill. The plant grows towards the light. Another example is when
stream fish automatically swim upward in the upstream direction. This example is considered positive
taxis. This type of taxis allows the fish to swim in the direction of food and allows them to not be
swept away. Kinesis is a simple change in activity or turning rate in response to a stimulus or random
movement in response to stimulus. An example of kinesis is when sow bugs become more active in
dry areas and less active in humid areas. Sow bugs does vary depending on humidity, however sow
bugs do not move toward or away from suitable moisture levels. Both taxis and kinesis will guarantee
that organisms will remain in environments that increase their chances of survival. When organisms
are put into critical conditions its activities will decrease, although when an organism is put into
positive conditions the organism will stay in that condition for the longest time possible. This behavior
will increase the survivorship of individuals of a species. Migration is a regular long distance change
in location. During migration many animals pass through environments that they have not formally
been too before. Migration can be caused by seasonal changes. For example, some bird species

Theme Of Beauty In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
One thing about the monster Victor Frankenstein created is certain: It is hideous. So hideous even that
though he has good intentions he gets shunned by society. Due to his ugliness, he has trouble finding a
mate and even goes on a murderous rampage in the end which is followed by his suicide. Is the
monster driven to this terrible fate by society or is it someone or even something else? In the
following, this paper will look at the concept of beauty in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, and how it
influences the monster as well as society in general. Because of the rejection he experiences, it can be
stated that society is responsible for the monster s misfortune. Humans often associate beauty with
good qualities. A study by Dion, Berscheid and Walster from 1972 found that what is ... Show more

in Grammer et al. 388). There also has been a link between attractiveness and grades, where attractive
students are favored. Grammer also states, that unattractive people receive more or even a harsher
punishment for their misdeeds (388). So maybe Bloom was right when he said, a beautiful monster ,
or even a passable one, would not have been a monster (Bloom 6). In Frankenstein beauty is often
linked to good qualities. Elizabeth is described as a beautiful woman and her beauty is linked to her
personality in chapter one: Her person was the image of her mind; her hazel eyes [...] possessed an
attractive softness (Shelley 20). In chapter 5, Justine is described as extremely pretty as well as clever
and gentle, which might also be a link between the described qualities of beauty and her character
(42). In chapter 8, the monster finds a portrait of a woman on the dead body of William. He sees her
beauty and is astonished by it, but his admiration quickly

Analysis Of The Movie Hurt, Nine Inch Nails
Hurt is a song that was written by Trent Reznor of the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails in 1994
from the album The Downward Spiral. It received positive reviews, even receiving a Grammy award
nomination for best rock song in 1996 ( Hurt, Nine Inch Nails Song ). Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio
founded the Nine Inch Nails in 1988. Reznor is the main producer, singer, songwriter, and
instrumentalist of the band as well as the only official member of the group ( Nine Inch Nails ).
Country music artist Johnny Cash received critical acclaim when he covered Hurt with reviews saying
that Cash s version was much better than the original done by Reznor. Johnny Cash is considered to be
one of the most influential and best selling artists of the 20th century. Most of Cash s music contained
themes of sadness, sorrow, and moral tribulations, which made Reznor s Hurt a perfect cover for Cash
( Johnny Cash ). Hurt is the type song someone listens to when they have the kind of day that makes
them feel alone. Everything you thought you knew was wrong, people stab you in the back, and
everything you used to believe in has vanished. You re left with nothing at the end of the day, feeling
depressed and miserable, that is what Hurt is about. Hurt makes you realize you re not the only one in
the world that suffers these pains because everyone goes through them. It then leaves the listeners
feeling as if they are not alone anymore; they can start to relate to the loneliness and misery that the

Sacco And Vanzetti Essay
Sacco and Vanzetti Trial
What happens when change meets tradition?
When change and tradition meet change is usually met with denial or acceptance. We see this strongly
in the 1920 s with things like women s rights and other points of views being viewed as dangerous or
inappropriate. Women in more urban areas in the 1920 s were becoming more open and independant
and while they accepted this, many people in rural areas saw this as inappropriate. We even see this in
the Sacco and Vanzetti trial. Sacco and Vanzetti were anarchists, and just for believing in something
different than everyone else they were put to death for something they may or may have not done.
Overall when change and tradition meet, they clash until eventually change wins and is accepted
among the majority of people. Change scares people because with change comes unexpected things

Court Observation Paper
On Friday, April, 4, 2014, I observed the Vanderburgh County Superior Court to observe different
family law cases. The cases I heard involved contempt of court for failing to pay child support, failure
to appear for a court appointed drug test, birth certificate affidavit, request for contest hearing time,
and an issue of paternity case. Magistrate Judge Sheila M. Corcoran was presiding over the family
court hearings. When entering the courthouse, I was greeted by security and advised to remove any
cell phones, and/or, any other items that would trigger a metal detector. After this, I proceeded straight
to look for the family courtroom. After roaming around mindlessly for a couple minutes, I decided to
ask the courthouse officer monitoring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was still filled with anticipation and was quite surprised at the differences between my first and
second experience. I was formally dressed and did not really blend in with anyone else sitting in the
courtroom. The attorneys seemed to come and go as they pleased, with no deference or respect for the
proceedings in session.
The first case that was presented involved a man that was currently incarcerated in the Vanderburgh
County jail. The inmate was able to plead his case, telling the judge that he was not able to work
because he was injured, and therefore had no income to pay for child support. After looking at the past
payments the inmate made through the court, it revealed that before he was incarcerated he had made
one payment to the child s mother. He claimed that he was out of work because he had broken his leg,
but failed to provide an statements from his employer stating he was either let go or not able to work
because of an injury. All payments had stopped for whatever reason. The judge found the inmate in
contempt of court for failure to obey a court order. He could not prove to the judge that he deliberately
disobey the court s order to pay child support. In the end, the judge found him irresponsible and
sentenced him to 90 days in jail along with a $1000 fine. After he was sentenced, he was escorted out
of the front of the courtroom by the bailiff.
The next case involved a mother who had failed to show up for a drug test. She was

Life And Dedication Of An Organization
As I peered through the window of opportunity, which I thought would be an easy adventure, time and
dedication surely proved me mistaken. One average senior high day, I walk into the Human Services
classroom and sit down at my desk. The class writes the daily five minute prompt about the service we
are hoping to be involved in for FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) called,
STAR (Student Taking Action with Recognition) events. After the prompt, the class sets up the desks
to have our monthly FCCLA meeting. I, being the President, began the meeting with any house
keepings that needs to be discussed. Next, we progress the discussion to our chapter s current funds
and finally begin to go into detail about STAR events. In an organized manner, we list the events and
information pertaining to which people are planning on working in each group.
I decide to work with Angela, who happens to be our chapter s Vice President, and Molly, the
secretary, to focus our attention to the Focus on Children category. With much thought, we decide on
the idea of researching the sugar content in beverages and directing the information toward late
elementary audiences. We create a few presentations and visuals to provide the students an accurate
idea of the sugar content within their drinks. While constructing this project, we also call at least five
of the elementary schools in the area. One of the schools responds and we are able to coordinate a few
dates to present to

Buy Your First Home
Buying your first home is an incredibly exciting experience. It s so exciting that first time buyers often
jump onto the deep end of the pool without first making sure the pool has water in it. There are four
precautions you must take before signing on the dotted line if you want to be happy with your home
purchase.
Triple Check Your Budget
Crunch the numbers several times and make sure you really can afford the property you re buying.
Make sure you have factored all of your costs into your plan, including closing costs, HOA fees,
homeowner s insurance and property taxes. Verify that you can afford the home ( removed HTML )
based only on the income you have right now ( removed HTML ) . Don t factor in pending
promotions, raises or other income sources that you hope to get. Counting your chickens before they
hatch could get you into real trouble.
Get an Inspection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hidden problems are often expensive problems and may require major repairs. Never assume that
what you see is what you will get when buying a home. Water damage, foundation issues, termite
problems and structural issues are major problems. They may be costly to repair may be severe
enough to render the home uninhabitable until. After the inspection, follow the inspector s advice. No
matter how much you love a property, run away if that is what the inspector advises.
Verify the Details
Most first time home buyers work with a Realtor rather than going it alone, and this approach is
recommended. If, however, you have an opportunity to buy a home privately, make sure you seek out
professional advice before signing everything. Even if you don t fee the need for a Realtor, have a (

your home purchase before you agree to anything.

La Llorona Loc The Other Side Essay
At the start of La Llorona Loca: The Other Side, Palacios describes growing up when her mother
would tell her scary stories about Llorona Loca. In the first paragraph we see a common theme or
image found in the Latinx cannon: the image of motherhood and tradition. Palacios mother s retelling
follows the traditional narrative of La Llorona Loca retelling in which a woman, traditionally a
mother, drowns her children and then feels remorse. Although many authors would choose to further
develop on this image, Palacios through her reflection on her up brining demonstrates opposing views
to the dominant ideology, in the way in which she critiques these societal expectations of women. As
the story continues, Palacios articulates a critique of gender roles and expectations demonstrated
through the following lines of her mothers La Llorona retelling: The story also states that, as she
wailed, she wore a long white gown. (49). The primary reason that this particular line is so important
is that it is the first demonstration of a change of tone from our author. In the beginning lines, the
author appears to be reflective, whereas in this line she demonstrates sarcasm. There is also particular
imagery of the white dress, which has a lot of cultural/ideological symbolism. The color the dress,
particularly its whiteness, symbolisms virginity/purity, both common attributes placed upon the Latinx
body. A critical eye could view the color of the dress in the La Llorona retelling as a

Lab Report On The Lab
1. Accurately records experimental procedures.
I think this objective means that we need to make sure we understand the procedure or steps for the
lab. Knowing the steps for the lab is extremely important because especially in chemistry if something
is done out of order it can be dangerous. So recording the procedure in our lab book is important. This
relates to my major of Political Science in that in Political Science, recording down things accurately
is very important and if something isn t recorded accurately it could be dangerous like in chemistry
lab. In my lab report for the Density Lab I recorded the steps to the lab. The objective of that lab was
to find out what procedure was preferable for finding density. This made it very important to makes
sure the experimental procedure was recorded accurately.
2. Accurately records data, observations, and results. This objective means to record what we observe
and calculate during the experiment as accurately as possible, most errors that occur in an experiment
are due to mistakes when recording data, observations and results. This relates to my major of
Political Science because there is a lot of things one has to record data on based on observations, and
the results of a political science experiment are important because it can change how the world is
looked at, if the data or observations are wrong people are getting inaccurate information. In my lab

Choice In Rappaccini s Daughter By Nathanial Hawthorne
Rappaccini s Daughter is indeed a unique story that could contain many messages, however, there are
more reasons behind Nathanial Hawthorne s character choice. Authors tend to have a motive or some
sort of message behind their story, Hawthorne is not an exception. Another factor to take note of is
how the story revolves around Rappaccini as according to Giovanni, his demeanor was that of one
walking among malignant influences, such as savage beats, or deadly snakes, or evil spirits
(Hawthorne 1142). Rappaccini was regarded as a distrustful gardener which suggests he was a man
not to be trusted. Giovanni questions the suspicious demeanor of Rappaccini himself which suggests
Hawthorne is perhaps trying to convey a message about doctors as well. Furthermore, Rappaccini s
Daughter was written to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anthony Cerulli, a writer for the Journal for the Interdisciplinary Study of Literature in Winnipeg,
explains in detail of why Rappaccini envisioned doctors to be evil. According to Cerulli, Rappaccini s
Daughter is a story informed by Sophia and Nathaniel Hawthorne s fears: Beatrice is fatally poisoned
by her father, a reformer, and his rival, an orthodox physician (120). Moreover, all of the medicines no
matter the doctor, would combine to ultimately result in death. That was exactly the case within
Rappaccini s Daughter with Beatrice inhaling ... [the plants] various perfumes, as if she were one of
those beings of old classic fable (Hawthorne 1145). Beatrice, who represents Sophia, was poisoning
herself with drugs from various sources and at the end, she had dire consequences that affected her
way of life. Beatrice was poisoned and could not come back, moreover, there is a reason why the main
character, Giovanni, referenced Rappaccini s garden as the Eden of the present world (Hawthorne

Constantine s Personal Beliefs
Constantine I is credited with adapting Christianity to the Roman Empire, ending persecution of
Christians, and eventually converting to the religion himself. However, historians have debated over
his motives; some consider them to be politically fueled, while others argue that they were based on
personal beliefs. After considering the various changes that were brought upon following the
conversion, it is clear that while Constantine s efforts were primarily strategically rooted, personal
beliefs did play a subsidiary role. Constantine s multifaceted relationship with Christianity first
emerged during his days as a successful general. Eusebius, a bishop and historian during the time,
stated that prior to the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, Constantine had a vision of a burning cross in the
sky with a message stating that he would succeed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Constantine laid the foundations of what would soon become a religious and profitable hub and
established himself as the Patriarchate of Constantinople ( Legitimization Under Constantine ). The
institution of Constantinople both indicated the break with its pagan past and highlighted its
acceptance of Christianity. For example, Constantine did not allow pagan ceremonies in the city.
Constantinople flourished as a spiritual and political capital for over a millennium. Constantine was,
once again, most probably interested in the strategic location of the city, as it could be effectively used
for trade and commercial purposes. Additionally, its position made it difficult to be conquered by
rivaling nations. As Constantine was a very intelligent and cunning emperor, he most likely took note
of all of these facts and knew that the empire would benefit economically, as well as culturally and
socially, from the establishment of

Anton Bruckner, A Great Composer Of The Romantic Period
For many music is a way to communicate and express someone s emotions. This is one of the many
beauties people find in this art form. This researcher paper is about the life and work of Anton
Bruckner, a great composer of the romantic period. The research paper will be focus from Bruckner s
early life to his last moments.
Anton Bruckner was born on September 4 1824 in the village of Ansfelden, Austria to a family known
for being craftsman and farmers. Bruckner was the first of 11 children. Bruckner s father was the
village schoolmaster in charge of teaching music and also was an organist. Bruckner s first music
professor was his father, but unfortunately his father died when Bruckner was just thirteen years old.
He later worked as a teacher assistant and at night worked in village s dances to supplement his
income. An interesting fact about Bruckner according to Floros Constantin author of the book Anton
Bruckner: The Man and the Work is during the time he was a teacher assistant, he was known as a
prankster. This is an interesting fact because, in his later years he was a serious and focus man.
Bruckner when to school to become an organist and attended the Augustinian Monastery in St Florian
where he study and work for many years until his 40 s. Bruckner study the works of Haydn, Wagner
and many other composers. This composer are the biggest influencer of his work. (Constantin 3 6)

The Importance Of Popular Culture In The Classroom
Popular culture brings in other forms of literacy
Popular culture exists at home but not so much at school classrooms. Few of them incorporate these
popular cultural resources into the curriculum and they are underrepresented compared with the school
literacy (Marsh, 2013; Rets, 2016). Many teachers view the skills and knowledge gained from home,
including popular culture, as having little value in the classroom context (Shegar Weninger, 2010,
p.432). Reading and writing then becomes the dominated discourse in the classrooms, which is mainly
focused on books and print texts (Marsh, 2013; Shegar Weninger, 2010). These skills are used to as
the only way to assess children s literacy skills, such as standardized testing, which set limits to
literacy learning and practices. Literacy learning is mostly skill driven, and teacher centered. Thus, a
gap exists between home literacy and school literacy (Rets, 2016; Shegar Weninger, 2010). In
addition, teachers also lack knowledge and awareness of children s popular culture, so they avoid
incorporating it into the classroom (Shegar Weninger, 2010).
However, as mentioned earlier, popular culture is an integral part of home literacy. It exists in children
s conversation, play, drawing, and writing (Dunn, Niens, McMillan, 2014). Children experience a
much more diverse literacy environment where they consume popular culture and multimodal texts on
a daily basis. Popular culture exists in many different ways such as TV, movies,

Cost of Capital at Ameritrade Day 1
1. What factors should Ameritrade management consider when evaluating the proposed advertising

They should see how revenues have changed after adopting the new ad program and technology

They need to see ROI for their investments over time

calculating the net present value of a project s cash flows?

So instead, we will look at comparable firms. Firms in the same industry pursuing the same types of
projects will have the same sorts of risks, thus their asset betas will be approximately the same. The
returns we calculate for these firms, based on stock price movement, dividends, and stock splits, are
their equity betas.
These are influenced by the degree of leverage each company is using (recall that higher leverage
leads to higher ROE, EPS and DPS, but also leads to greater variability in earnings). Knowing the
amount of debt in their capital structures (at market values), we can calculate the asset beta for each
comparable firm. Then we will average these to use as a proxy for Ameritrade s asset beta

Reincarnation Is A Philosophical Idea
Introduction:
The purpose of this report is to make the audience aware about the strange yet intriguing superstition
that is reincarnation.
What Reincarnation Is Believed To Be:
Reincarnation is a philosophical religious concept where the aftermath of a drastic, liberating
biological death results in the soul being reborn into another body. The self explanatory Latin
definition expressing the words entering the flesh again. Indians are one of the strong main believers
of reincarnation whilst Christians are strictly against the believing of this practice. Recorded cases of
reincarnation are between the ages of two and five years old and sometimes a questioning seven years
at the oldest. Many people are impervious to the idea of a soul because of how completely encased it
is around around religious and dogma credulity. Some scientists quite confidently adhere that being
able to consciously detach from the body and rehabilitating towards a new body does indeed happen.
Scientists figure that it is a result from dramatic death experiences.
Scientific Proof Of Existence:
There is in fact hard evidence of soul existence and reincarnation. This is quite a large fact to a claim
to, but reincarnation is indisputable and cannot be attributed to many explanations apart from chance
being the most logical. But like lots of other situations we do not necessarily need hard copy proof to
believe in something. For example, if the news was to tell us that there is a 65% chance that it will

Patriotism by Yukio Mishima Essay
Patriotism by Yukio Mishima
Death, in many places death is feared, taking one s own life is looked upon as cowardly and weak.
This story sheds a different light on death; it shows the honor and respectful way of bowing out. To
see the honor in death, one must understand the culture and the time period. The story Patriotism
written by Yukio Mishima shows a couple?s courage, love and faith as well as the man?s commitment
to his country.
As the story goes, Shinji is a member of the Imperil forces. Shinji has taken an oath to fight for his
country; his honor depends on his commitment. He will fight to death and risk his life whenever
necessary to protect his livelihood. He s newly married and has even forsaken his ... Show more

This part of the story shows how helpless women are in this society, and how dependant they are.
This, as a continuing tradition, could drag Japan down in comparisons of equality and individuality.
In their last night together on this earth, Shinji and Rieko find faith, the truth and pure love. In their
preparation for death Shinji places the ultimate trust in his wife, asking her to watch his death and then
commit to her own. During this time the love for each other becomes pure and intoxicating. They both
embrace their faith as they value the little time left with each other that ultimately turns into the death
of two young and beautiful people. Whether or not they may have pure love, It seems that much is
influenced because of their impending death, death in this case acts like a drug, a drug that makes
them feel more than they would or should.
This story is very insightful into a different culture and its perceptions of death. It shows that
commitment and faith can take precedence to life itself. I think this story is timeless and could be
applied as a measuring tool for commitment and honor in most societies. Love brings two people
together and then takes their lives. I think this story glamorizes and distorts the reality of suicide and
death. It seems to say, ?This is OK? go ahead. I think people should live until, well they are dead and

The world is always changing, sometimes for that better and other times for the worst. For me, that

received my acceptance into Mayfield. My admission into Mayfield led on a string of changes that
helped me finally accept who I really was as a person and helped me appreciate the value of

It s difficult to accept yourself when others don t, but when I got into Mayfield all of that changed for

need to value the idea of friendship anymore. However that all changed after I got to Mayfield. I met
people who showed me how important it was to have friends and that you should always value the

The Oedipal Complex Literary Analysis
Many stories include a child who vies for their parent(s) attention. One being, Oedipus, by Sophocles,
where Oedipus rivals his father, who he believes is a stranger, to gain the attention of his wife/mother.
The idea of a child, mostly boys, trying to gain their parent(s) (who tend to be a mother more often
than a father) attention is known as The Oedipal Complex , created by Sigmund Freud. The Oedipal
Complex , is a theory of a developing of feelings a boy develops towards his mother. He then is
against his father, or another male figure with his mother, and has jealousy or anger towards the man.
Eventually the boy tries to rival the man for attention from his mother. The Oedipal Complex is very
prominent in the short story, The Rocking Horse Winner , written by DH Lawerence. One of the
protagonists, Paul, develops the idea in which he should raise money for his mother, since she
considers herself unlucky . The mother, Hester, believes she is unlucky because herself and her
husband work low income jobs which are unable to support their lavish tastes. Therefore, Paul is
introduced to horse racing by his gardener, Basset, who bids on who he believes will win the races.
Paul tells Basset who he wants to bid on, and Basset would go and put the bid down for Paul. One day
Paul was discussing his connection with his gardener with his Uncle Oscar. His Uncle Oscar took Paul
to his first race, they both bidded on Daffodil, who won the race, afterwards Uncle Oscar is included

The Health Care Crisis And An Understanding Of The Reforms
A. The health care crisis and an understanding of the reforms The American Health Care system to say
the least is wasteful, bloated, and generally inefficient and therefore in dire need for immediate review.
This has largely been as a result of factors such as costs, poor investment return for outlays,
inequitably distribution, and being based on anachronistic business model geared at treating diseases
more than promoting wellness. The figures are all there to see why a radical surgery of the health care
reforms has been long overdue. One reason why we have been spending too much on health care is

provision of care in outpatient settings avoiding inpatient overnight stays in hospitals has been
embraced. Theoretically, such a shift is meant to save on costs as fixed costs in outpatients setting are

adding more costs to the system. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President

been yearning for such a legislation. It signified a turning point in Americans healthcare expansion,

While there is the potential of conversations being heard over cordless phones, what should be more

Bernie Madoff Ponzi Scheme Essay
Bernard Madoff was an investment advisor and former chairman of NASDAQ and he was most
famous for perpetrating the largest Ponzi Scheme in history. In 1960, Bernie founded Madoff
Investment Securities, LLC, and his firm was one of the first to use computer technology to trade.
They specialized in over the counter stocks. He grew his company by networking and got his family
involved in running the company. His first clients were people in his neighborhood, and people who
went to his same church. Bernie was a trusted man in society, people had confidence in him, however
people didn t really know that he was defrauding them out of billions of dollars until it was too late

Frank asked Harry (who was a skilled mathematician) to figure out how Bernie was doing this, so they
could replicate it. Harry figured out that it was impossible to be getting a steady return of 1% each
month. And that Bernie was either was front running (a form on insider trading) or he had created this
elaborate Ponzi scheme. In 2000, Harry decided to approach the SEC. The SEC ignored what he had
to say and dismissed him. It is noted that Bernie was friendswith a lot of people on the SEC and he
was a guest on the SEC board, so it was hard for the SEC to take Harry seriously. Harry returned in
2001 and 2005 with the same allegations that Bernie Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme, again they
dismissed him. On December 10, 2008 Bernie confessed to his two sons that worked for his company
that he had done this elaborate scheme and that he had lost 65 billion dollars, and the week after he
was going to turn himself in. The next day his sons turned him in to the FBI and he was apprehended
later that day. His bail was set to 10 million dollars, he paid it, and he was later

  • 2. Cultural Comparisons of India and China NATIONAL CULTURE OF CHINAAND INDIA IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Introduction 1. Increased business globalization, emergence of new economic hubs like BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) as well as more intense competition among organizations at the domestic and international level alike over the past two decades, have necessitated the need for studies in the comparative Human Resource Management (HRM) (Budhwar amp; Sparrow, 2002a). As a result, a growing number of conceptual (Aycan, 2005; Edwards amp; Kuruvilla, 2005) and empirical studies (Bae, Chen, amp; Lawler, 1998; Budhwar amp; Sparrow, 2002b; Easterby Smith, Malina, amp; Yuan, 1995) have addressed the configuration of HRM in different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hall describes context as the information that surrounds an event. In high context societies, the situation, the external environment and non verbal cues are crucial in the communication process. However, this approach fits much better with a generic concept of culture, in the sense of a broad cultural community such as Arabs, Latins or Chinese, than with the constrained boundaries of a nation state, where individual and organizational diversity allows for a pluralistic coexistence of both low and high context. 9. The work of Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck (1961) offers another useful framework to understand cultural differences. Viewing culture as a set of assumptions and deep level values regarding relationships among humans and between humans and their environments, Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck proposed four basic value orientations, which can be further divided into sub dimensions to capture the complex cultural variations across societies. The major orientations in their model are human nature (evil, mixed, good), man nature relationship (subjugation, harmony, dominant), social relation with people (hierarchical, collateral, individual), human activity (being, becoming, doing), and time sense (past, present, future). The cultural orientation framework has been adopted by researchers to explain variations of HRM practices across countries (e.g., Aycan et al., 2007; Nyambegera et al., 2000; Sparrow amp; Wu, ... • 5. Factors Of Variability In Re-Emergence Of SST Anomalies As discussed in Chapter 1 (section 1.1.3), ML variability is a crucial factor that controls the variability in re emergence of SST anomalies. Refer to Chapter 3 for a more comprehensive description of the variability of MLD and its interaction with local atmospheric forcing. Previous studies have shown that the ML in the midlatitude oceans undergoes substantial seasonal change (Montery and Levitus 1997; Kara et al. 2000; Cronin and Kessler 2002; Kara et al. 2003; Montégut et al. 2004; Halkides and Lee 2009) and, hence, re emergence is expected to be more likely. Hanawa and Sugimoto (2004) have uncovered the global regions of occurrence of re emergence and located seven re emergence areas in the global ocean (see Figure 1.4 in Chapter 1) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ocean reanalysis data sets (GECCO2 and NCEP GODAS) have made use of recently available hydrographic and satellite data for assimilating the ocean field with a general circulation model. Although biases and errors arise between reanalysis products due to different data assimilation methods (Kröger et al. 2012), these datasets could mitigate the uncertainty in producing reliable data. We will also demonstrate the skill of CMIP5 models to generate signals of re emergence. Furthermore, we will discuss various factors that influence the re emergence process in the global ocean. Deser et al. (2003) have developed a stochastic climate model by adding entrainment of temperature anomalies at the bottom of the winter mixed layer to the simple null hypothesis of Frankignoul and Hasselmann (1977). The proposed implicit entraining stochastic climate model was useful in producing the re emergence signal. As expected, these stochastic model results showed that the re emergence mechanism enhances the SST variability at interannual and longer timescale. Moreover, the strength of the re emergence signal is augmented when the active ML in winter is deeper. Instead of a simple stochastic model, we use the KPP single column mixed layer model forced by stochastic atmospheric forcing to understand various factors influencing the mechanism. These include a) influence of anomalous MLD, b) the impact of different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Survival Of Organisms Depends On Adaptive Behavior And... Survival of organisms depends on adaptive behavior and species interactions. Taxis is less or more automatic movement towards or away from a stimulus or direct movement. An example of taxis is when a plant is put by a windowsill. The plant grows towards the light. Another example is when stream fish automatically swim upward in the upstream direction. This example is considered positive taxis. This type of taxis allows the fish to swim in the direction of food and allows them to not be swept away. Kinesis is a simple change in activity or turning rate in response to a stimulus or random movement in response to stimulus. An example of kinesis is when sow bugs become more active in dry areas and less active in humid areas. Sow bugs does vary depending on humidity, however sow bugs do not move toward or away from suitable moisture levels. Both taxis and kinesis will guarantee that organisms will remain in environments that increase their chances of survival. When organisms are put into critical conditions its activities will decrease, although when an organism is put into positive conditions the organism will stay in that condition for the longest time possible. This behavior will increase the survivorship of individuals of a species. Migration is a regular long distance change in location. During migration many animals pass through environments that they have not formally been too before. Migration can be caused by seasonal changes. For example, some bird species migrate ... So hideous even that though he has good intentions he gets shunned by society. Due to his ugliness, he has trouble finding a mate and even goes on a murderous rampage in the end which is followed by his suicide. Is the monster driven to this terrible fate by society or is it someone or even something else? In the following, this paper will look at the concept of beauty in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, and how it influences the monster as well as society in general. In the first paragraph we see a common theme or image found in the Latinx cannon: the image of motherhood and tradition. Palacios mother s retelling follows the traditional narrative of La Llorona Loca retelling in which a woman, traditionally a mother, drowns her children and then feels remorse. Although many authors would choose to further develop on this image, Palacios through her reflection on her up brining demonstrates opposing views to the dominant ideology, in the way in which she critiques these societal expectations of women. As the story continues, Palacios articulates a critique of gender roles and expectations demonstrated through the following lines of her mothers La Llorona retelling: The story also states that, as she wailed, she wore a long white gown. Few of them incorporate these popular cultural resources into the curriculum and they are underrepresented compared with the school literacy (Marsh, 2013; Rets, 2016). Many teachers view the skills and knowledge gained from home, including popular culture, as having little value in the classroom context (Shegar Weninger, 2010, p.432). Reading and writing then becomes the dominated discourse in the classrooms, which is mainly focused on books and print texts (Marsh, 2013; Shegar Weninger, 2010). However, as mentioned earlier, popular culture is an integral part of home literacy. It exists in children s conversation, play, drawing, and writing (Dunn, Niens, McMillan, 2014).
