Cyber Warfare And Security Threats
Abstract
The innovations in information technology and increased amount of interconnected electronic devices
today create new economic and social prospects as well as improve the overall quality of our lives.
While these leading edge technologies create opportunities, some have become prey to attackers and
has given birth to a new era of Cyber warfare. Consequently, the Internet, computers and networks
have become targets and vehicles of cyber attacks and generate challenges to our security privacy.
Cyber Warfare presents an ever increasing amount of security threats, which continue to escalate with
increasing harshness, and is now a critical issue in our technology realm and a growing threat to the
world. Cyber wars are generally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cyberspace is now a military dimension; the word cyber is a very significant and probably one of the
most common term used in today s international security dialogues. The Internet and e commerce are
crucial to the economic competitiveness of many nations, businesses and organizations, however
cyber criminal have cost users millions of dollars and valuable assets. Achieving security on the
Internet is a very daunting task; as criminals and hackers have become plagues to critical IT
infrastructures, online communication and e commerce.
Cyber warfare is a very costly and complex reality; it compromises the privacy of web users and has
shaped great battles between domains. Governments and organizations are faced with significant
threats and challenges daily as advanced software programs are developed and used to exploit and
disrupt their computer networks. These increasing series of cyber conflicts between nations, corrupt
gangs and virtual terrorist groups; all raises critical economic and national security issues in countries
across the globe. In a recent article Clayton (2011) stated that Tomorrow s wars will be fought not just
with guns, but with the click of a mouse half a world away that will unleash weaponized software that
could take out everything from the power grid to a chemical plant. (Clayton 2011). It is very appalling
to think that the insertion

Nike Sweatshops
Nike is one of the largest most popular sports/athletic brands worldwide. They are number one
producer and sellers of sportswear shoes and apparel (Nike Inc, 2017). Being number one the brand
now has a market value of almost $30 million, and does seem to be stopping growth (Nike Inc, 2017).
Created in 1964, Nike has continuously grown adding many diffusion lines to their brand to be more
distinct for different sports. Not only does Nike encompass almost all sports, but also they have
brilliant marketing and their trademark Just Do it partnered with the swoosh logo, which is endorsed
by celebrities makes Nike a desirable product. A demand that is worldwide requires employees that
are willing work around the clock, are paid less than minimum wage, and even employed children
workers. At least these were some of the things that Nike thought they needed, to increase profits and
get their product distributed. Nike made a huge mistake trying to cut cost by exploiting workers in
south Asian countries. Their ethical integrity was compromised and many consumers would not buy
from Nike, however now years later Nike has revamped their image with foundations and a traceable
supply chain. Hopefully, these measures Nike have taken will prevent any further ethical issues in the
future.

Like Water For Chocolate Figurative Language
In the novel, Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, Esquivel demonstrates how she s sufficient
in her tone of writing and portraying the reader s attention by grasping their emotions. She uses
nostalgic, imagery, and Syntax. Nostalgic is a tone in the passage when she misses Nacha causing a
rush of emotions. Tita becomes carried away with what she missed having with Nacha presuming she
would never have lost her this soon. The author applies syntax by using continuous commas on
Nacha! The smell: her noodle soup, her chiliaques, her champurrado, her molcajete sauce, her bread
with cream, all were far away in a distant past (Esquivel 167). The use of continuous commas
contending that the coordinating conjunction is adequate separation, some writers leave out the
comma in a sentence with short, balanced independent clauses. ... Show more content on

Esquivel applies suspense in the passage expressing Titas fears of becoming pregnant the night Pedro
followed her into the darkroom. She has yet to tell Pedro but instead of worrying, she decides to focus
on preparing the Kings Day Bread for her guests. Being aware of the situation, she knows she will
have to cancel her engagement to John Brown, given that she is no longer a virgin. Esquivel uses
tradition as a reason of why Tita feels so horrible with losing her purity of the white flower and not
being holy in God s eyes. While Tita makes the bed, she remembers the King s Days of her past. As a
girl, she would always receive something Mama Elena wanted her to have on King s Day instead of

Marketing is defined as a simple process of communicating the true value of a product or service to
the customers, for the actual purpose of making a sale of that product or service. Marketing is to be
looked at as one of the most important organizational function and a set of processes for creating,
delivering and communicating value to the customers or potential customers, and customer
relationship management that also benefits the organization. It is the science of choosing target

The Rape Of The Daughters Of Leucipus Analysis
This art piece is titled The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus and the artist is Peter Paul Rubins.
This work was created in 1618 in what was probably Antwerp, Belgium. The socio cultural situation
during at that time and place was tense with the short 12 year truce during Eighty Years War that
resumed in 1619. This war was being fought at this time in what was called the Low Countries
(comprised of some of modern Belgium) and included Antwerp. There were also conflicting religions
with Protestants and Catholics at this time as seen with the Thirty Years War that began in 1618. This
piece is made of oil paint and was made by using a brush to paint the oil onto the canvas.
The story being told here is about the Greek myth of two twin brothers named Pollux and Castor who
kidnapped and married the daughters of King Leucippus. Two recognizable images are Castor, who is
dressed in garb common for a horse tamer, while Pollux is completely nude. In the image, it is clear
that the two daughters are being taken away against their will by the two men with their horses. The
exact location of this event is not clear but it appears to be occurring in a green valley of some sort
where trees and hills can be seen in the background. Although the time in which it is happening is not
evident either, based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What happens to the daughters of Leucippus in this scene is incredibly tragic and yet the artwork also
predicts the tragedy that will befall the brothers. I think the other qualities could be described as
dramatic such as the awkward and flailing positions of the women that is meant to bring attention to
the piece. This work really reminds me of other traditional art pieces I have seen with the style of the
painting and the usage of darks and lights to highlight figures. I think it is very similar to other
paintings I have seen about mythical figures but this one seems to emphasize on the roles of

Canadian Airstrikes During Iraq And Syria
What these publications and the vast majority of the general population contending that Trudeau ought
to proceed with Canadian airstrikes in Iraq and Syria miss are a few motivations to stop the
bombarding, some of them coming from a more radical perspective, others immovably even minded.
To start with, the even minded.
We don t recognize what will come after ISIS
Basically everybody who isn t in ISIS concurs that the gathering is awful. In any case, we can t go
firearms (or planes, so to speak) bursting after each awful gathering on the planet, and we shouldn t.
Iraq and Afghanistan are impeccable samples of this. Ling raised the 2003 attack of Iraq in his section
also, and I need to address what he composed:
Presently, some are attracting examinations to the 2003 attack of Iraq, in spite of there being for all
intents and purposes no sensible association. The West isn t thumping over some worthless tyrant to
introduce an inviting majority rule government, it is putting forth air support for an equitably chose
government and neighborhood strengths. This is not an attack. It isn t a ground war. It is logistical air
support.
It s actual that the kind of war being pursued in Iraq and Syria at this moment is distinctive, yet it s not
clear that the impacts will be. Both Iraq and Syria are crushed by war, common and something else,
and if ISIS is steered from the region there are no solid governments to move in and restore request.
The Iraqi government is a

Should A Truck Be Restricted Essay
Even though That the lifted trucks will be less likely to see small vehicles and therefore become more
likely to rear end them., they should not be restricted because it is basically telling a person that you
can t drive a big truck because we the government can t because lifted trucks will also have to be more
wealthy people because a higher lift would be more expensive causing that person to more likely have
insurance and lifted trucks will be more likely to be alert because they are driving a bigger truck. The
height of a person is not restricted, So why should the height of a person s truck be restricted? Cops
have pulled over trucks that are majorly big or huge and the cops treat them differently then they
would treat a regular car that got pulled over. A truck s height should not be restricted because that is
basically saying your truck can only be this high because it supposedly becomes a hazard when it is

Pythogoras of Samos Essay examples
Pythagoras of Samos is often described as the first pure mathematician. He is an extremely important
figure in the development of mathematics yet we know little about his achievements. There is nothing
that is truly accurate pertaining to Pythagoras s writings. Today Pythagoras is certainly a mysterious
figure.
Little is known of Pythagoras s childhood. Pythagoras s father was Mnesarchus, and his mother was
Pythais. Mnesarchus was a merchant who came from Tyre. Pythais was a native of Samos. As a child
Pythagoras spent his early years in Samos, but traveled with his father. There are accounts, that during
their travels, Mnesarchus returned to Tyre with Pythagoras, and had him taught there by the
Chaldaeans.

Pythagoras made a journey to Crete shortly after his return to Samos to study the system of laws there.
After a short stay in Crete, Pythagoras found himself back in Samos. There he discovered a school
called the semicircle. This was the site of his own philosophical teaching, spending most of the night
and daytime there and doing research into the uses of mathematics. He tried to use his unique method
of teaching, which was similar to the lessons he had learned in Egypt, but Samians were not very keen
on this. Pythagoras saw that the Samians were not giving him the respect and credit he deserved, so he
moved on
Pythagoras left and founded a philosophical/religious school in Croton on the southern tip of Italy. His
school practiced secrecy and communalism making it hard to tell the difference between the work of
Pythagoras and work of his followers. Although it did made outstanding contributions to mathematics.
Pythagoras gained many followers there, and became the head of a society with an inner circle of
followers known as mathematikoi. The mathematikoi lived permanently with the Society, had no
personal possessions and were vegetarians. They weren t acting as a mathematics research group does
in a modern university. There were no open problems for them to solve, and they were not in any
sense interested in trying to create or solve mathematical problems. Rather Pythagoras was interested
in teaching the principles of

Psychoanalytic Techniques In Tim Burton s Films
Tim Burton Stylistic Essay
Tim Burton is a director that uses an excellent assortment of stylistic techniques. Many authors and
directors use a pattern of style traits, however, Tim Burton s traits are probably the most noticeable
when watching his movies compared to other movies made by different directors. Tim Burton is the
man who made the movies Edward Scissorhands, Vincent, Alice In Wonderland, and The Nightmare
Before Christmas, all movies that depict a dark and eerie tone. Tim Burton repeatedly uses the stylistic
techniques that connect the movies and make a dark, gentle horror and child like tone, such as
costumes/makeup that cast an appearance different than what most others would make a person or
thing look like, characters that are child like and essentially innocent, imagery is also used to portray
the dark, along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will notice that most of the characters that are people have the same traits: pale skin, dark circles
under their eyes, light hair or blonde and are white or probably from European decent. This is seen in
Edward Scissorhands, when you first see Edward you notice his pale white skin and the ghostly dark
circles under his doe eyes. If it weren t for Edward s doe brown eyes, you would have assumed he was
dead. All of these characteristics, except for the doe eyes, make the characters in Tim Burton s films
look like corpses which gives the gentle horror tone. The doe eyes are what gives Edward a sense of
child like innocence that expresses the main tone in this movie. You will recognize some of these same
characteristics in Alice In Wonderland. In this movie, everyone in the real world is white, pale, blonde
or brown hair, never black or black hair, they also have the dark circles under their eyes. In Alice In
Wonderland, you wouldn t be able to tell Alice from the rest by how she looks, it is more how she
talks, which is more under the category of

Buchnera Aphidicol Southern Blot Analysis
Aphids possess bacteriocytes that are specific to its obligate mutualist, Buchnera aphidicola. It seems
that this genus has lost genes that are essential to its life. Through Southern Blot analysis, Nikoh and
Nakabachi have shown that these lost genes are actually encoded in the aphid genome. Through
detailed structural and phylogenetic analyses, the full length sequences of these transcripts were
determined. This demonstrated that these transcripts are indeed significantly similar to multiple
bacterial genes. While the Buchnera no longer possess these genes, other similar bacteria (E. Coli)
possess these genes. Nikoh and Nakabachi were able to conclude that they found several pieces of
evidence that show that aphids are indeed able to acquire genes from bacteria through lateral gene
transfer. They also claim that these genes are used to maintain their obligate mutualistic relationship
with the bacteria, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
show similar results in another study. The same species as the one mentioned before, Buchnera
aphidicola has a highly reduced genome, which increases the chances that gene transfer occurred from
the bacteria to the aphid. Using the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, they were able to provide
stronger support of the transfer of 12 genes from the bacteria to the aphid genome. While they were
able to identify this transfer between the pea aphid and the bacteria, they found that none of these
genes were transferred between Buchnera and the aphid, just like in the previous study. Sandstrom et
al. looked at different ways this gene transfer could have occurred. Insects in general usually host
secondary bacterial symbionts along with primary endosymbionts. Both symbionts are maternally
transmitted. Their results showed that a community of bacteria invades aphid cells and are transmitted
both vertically and horizontally among other aphid lineages. They present other potential possibilities
of transfer through ingestion from plant surfaces and plant

The Intricate Digestive System of the Brown Pelican
The brown pelican has an intricate digestive system in its body. For example, the bird s digestive
system is specially adapted for consuming fish. In contrast, Pelecanus occidentalis cannot digest large
fish bones, such as those from different kinds of sport fishes. Bird beaks and bills act as a mouth for
the pelican. When food enters the birds bill, the food is sent down the esophagus to the stomach
(proventriculus). The pelican then stores the food in the crop, a temporary storage solution for food for
birds (Kennedy, 2005). In addition, the crop also allows the pelicans food to soften after entering the
stomach. There are two parts of the stomach in Pelecanus occidentalis: the proventriculus and the
gizzard (Kendrick 2010). In the proventriculus, specialized cells secrete pepsin. Furthermore, the food
is then passed on to the gizzard, where it grinds it down to make it easier for the digestive enzymes to
break down the food. Another part of the pelican s digestive system is the small intestine, where food
is digested and absorbed. The last part of the bird s digestive system is the cloaca, which holds the
waste products of digestion until they are expelled out through the vent. In addition, the large intestine
connects the small intestine to the cloaca.
Homeostasis is well maintained in the organism due to the digestive system. In the pelican s digestive
tract, the food that the pelican eats is broken down into small molecules to allow the villi to absorb the
food in

Smaug Song Analysis
Movie Music Analysis: Smaug s Theme Smaug s Theme was composed by Howard Shore for 2013 s
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. The genre of the piece is film fantasy, adventure and has touches of
horror mixed in with it. The song fits the style of the majestic dragon that is its namesake, and it flows
wonderfully with the movie, taking in various other relative themes and working with the events that
happen in the movie. Smaug s Theme was written by the award winning Howard Shore and performed
by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for the second Hobbit movie, Desolation of Smaug. Shore,
born on 18th October, 1946 in Toronto, studied at the Berklee College of Music. His first big score

This is an example of how most of the piece has an underlying, faster beat to uphold the feeling of
fleeing . Occasionally the underlying ostinato isn t present because, in those scenes, the dwarves and
Bilbo are in a room where the dragon cannot get to them. Smaug s Theme is in 4/4 (simple duple) time
and starts out slow, before an accelerando, eventually hitting 180bpm, which represents the movie s
rapid change of pace. This represents the drift from a conversation, to a dragon hunting down the
company to kill them. Through the rhythm and dynamics, it is clear that Howard Shore s Smaug s
Theme has successfully highlighted the style of the film. Smaug is very magnificent and grand, yet
treacherous and cunning. In terms of the timbre of Smaug s Theme, a symphony orchestra is used with
the strings and brass being the most prominent, plus a few extra instruments such as an Indonesian
gamelan and finger cymbals. Little woodwind is heard, with flute and clarinet making a few solo
appearances. The lower brass, particularly the tuba and trombone, represent Smaug, and his enormous,
powerful, and deceivingly slow manner. The violins play a large range of pitches and depict the
beautiful, yet eerie emptiness of the halls under the mountain and how it has an immense dread feel to
it. Gamelan, chimes and finger cymbals are used to forge an exotic feeling and together, sound like
treasure, with the light chinking of coins and gold. The percussion

Analysis Of Blood On The Forge By William Attaway
A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone s identity. It is said that
culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and
symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On the
other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyle and advances of the
present day. This can happen by the adaptation groups of people have suffered in order to achieve a
better way of living other than the one they ve previously had. Examples of these changes can be seen
with the Great Migration in the 1900s. A movement in which many African Americans moved to the
North to work and settle in the steel mills in search of a better life. In Blood on the Forge by William
Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and adaptation plays a key role in our
existence. The book portrays this change through the life and experiences of the Moss brothers and
their lifestyle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. With that of culture comes our identity through music.
The death of the blues serves as an example in how culture is put up to the challenge of change.
Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent the loss of folk culture which accompanied the Great
Migration of Black people from the rural South to the industrial North (Waldron 58). As we begin to
read, we are able to interpret their lives and identity in the South through Melody s music. This

Unconditional Love In Crime And Punishment
My idea was to do a handbook based on the theme of Love. I used Sonya and Dunya as the subjects in
my handbook to demonstrate this theme. Sonya and Dunya both experience love in different ways
throughout Crime and Punishment. While Sonya shows unconditional love towards others such as her
family and Raskolnikov, Dunya eventually shows evidence of self love. On one page, I used a set of
rules that individually fit Sonya and Dunya, these rules are actually lessons that each girl learned in
the book. Underneath Dunya and Sonya s rules, I placed an excerpt showing an example of
unconditional love for Sonya and self love for Dunya. The excerpt I used to display Sonya s ability to

Jonathan Haidt s Hard Times
In the book Hard Times (1856/1995), by Charles Dickens, the citizens of Coketown are faced with
moral situations. The characters have caused emotional harm to others or themselves due to their
decisions. Most of the replies to these moral dilemmas are based on how selfish or selfless these
characters. They can only choose between the choices that value the other people or value themselves.
Two characters that make these decisions are Stephen, a worker at the Hand in Coketown, and Louisa,
the daughter of a teacher in the town. Some of their choices may seem questionable to others. But
most of them can be explained in Jonathan Haidt s book The Righteous Mind. In his book, Haidt

The association between Stephen and his wife is a solid example of the cheating rudiment. He is
making dishonest choices because he does not have a healthy relationship with his wife anymore.
After meeting an old woman, Stephen started thinking about Racheal: He thought of the number of

Rather than saving her from accidentally poisoning, Stephen decided to do nothing but watch her fall

For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide Analysis
Sexual objectification occurs when a person s body or body parts are treated as objects to be coveted
or desired. Women face sexual objectification everyday and Shange, in her novel For Colored Girls
Who Have Considered Suicide, takes several women from ambiguous backgrounds to reiterate the
challenges a woman faces in trying to maintain agency over her body through the ubiquitous nature of
sexual objectification and its ability to perpetuate gender violence. The first introduction we
experience from the women is their challenge with sexuality and embracing their bodies. The
graduation story is a story about a black girl who feels sexually liberated after losing her virginity. The
poem ends with the line, in the backseat of that ol buick/wow//by daybreak/ I just couldn t stop grinnin
(Shange 8). The young girl portrays that rite of passage from adolescence to adult after her first sexual
experience. Yet there is still that feel of naivety that clings to her since society has not yet diminished
her sense of sexual power. Shange depicts a young woman in control of her sexuality. ... Show more

true nature of rape, that someone you know may become your rapist, is one that all women fear and

The Common Life Scott Russell Sanders Analysis
Humans in society are like musicians in an orchestra. Solo, their parts sound odd and out of place,
lacking the harmonies mindfully composed for the rest of the orchestra. Humans are interdependent,
social creatures by nature. We rely on each other to survive. We rely on each other to do jobs that
might require a certain skill set or jobs that we might not have time to do ourselves. We even rely on
each other to bring a sense of familiarity and security to our communities just by knowing one
another. If we all remained anonymous, then we could not rely on each other to satisfy these vital
societal needs. Scott Russell Sanders, in his essay The Common Life , states that the more people in a
community who prefer to live isolated and reclusive lives, the more susceptible the community is to a
division that impedes its ability to live together, interact synergistically, and thrive. He correctly
believes that this division can lead to a total breakdown in society. Sanders hypothetical breakdown of
society is hinged upon a scenario where few contribute to the society from which they isolate
themselves. If there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Conversely, some might believe that many conflicts derive from close connectivity and that most
crime is not random, but rather is committed against a known friend, relative, or foe. Therefore,
isolation would prevent these negative relationships from forming and thus reduce crime. While these
crimes do exist, encouraging people to be antisocial and not form these relationships is impractical
and improbable. Even if one stays as isolated as possible, they will still have to interact somehow
without the outside world. If people want to do drugs, they will find a way to acquire them, even if
that means they have to socialize. Isolation is a result of people not wanting to socialize. If people

During the 1900s there were very many problems. From two worlds wars the great depressions, the

women did not have the same rights that men did. Some women wanted this to change and wanted to
be equal to men. Other women believed that the rights they already had were all they needed and their
spot in society was connected to tradition. Gloria Steinem and Phyllis Schlafly were two women that

women have babies and men do not. She says if you do not like this that the only person you can take
your problem up with is God because he created it that way. On side note when women are pregnant
and have to carry around a baby for nine months it makes them look very strong. By making that point
about women carrying babies I feel Schlafly is defending men and women. Schlafly then goes on to
state all the sacrifices men make for women. She says In America, a man s first significant purchase is
a diamond for his bride, and the largest investment of his life is a home for her to live in. This is a very
good point and it seems that she is saying that women should be thankful for all that men do to make
sure they have a good life and that they are happy. She also says that it is a good thing that men
sacrifice so much so women do not have to do hard

Essay On Swatch
Swatch is a watch brand that was created in the late 1970s. It has a strong identity which separates it s
from many other watch brands such as rolex, ice, dolce and gabbana. For example rolex is a brand that
is known to be expensive and valuable. Ice are known for plastic watches which have exciting colours
and are bold. Swatch watches are also made out of plastic and is marketed to fit anyone of any age. As
a company Swatch has had a huge connection with the pop culture industry. You may have recognised
the brightly coloured watches that reminds you of pop art. Things like that is what makes Swatch
different and stand out as a company. By collaborating with artists such as Kiki Picasso and Keith
Haring it proves that Swatch is a one of a kind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After its success as a company Swatch developed other sources by using materials such as plastic,
stainless steel and aluminium to synthetic fabrics, rubber and silicone.
Swatch was also founded 33 years ago in 1983 by Nicolas Hayek and the headquarters base was in
Biel, Switzerland. Looking back at the history of Swatch the company didn t succeed in the 1970s.
Hitting the 80s it made a break through by remodelling the company then only had to compete with 50
components.
The general watches are usually silver or gold and quite bold. Hakey s designs were more phenomenal
and colourful. They inspired people to be themselves as the Swatch watch today is commonly known
to be bright with a funky unique design on the strap.
The Swatch logo incorporates the swiss flag which signifies the country of the watchmaker. There are
three main colours to the Swatch logo which are black, red and white. Those three colours are often
seen as something important which should get your attention in a way it shows it s dominance,
excellence and powerful reputation. By studying the logo it incorporates a custom typeface which is
simple and bold. The logo is powerful enough without making it to

The Extent of Protection for Women Against Male Violence...
DISCUSS THE EXTENT OF PROTECTION FOR WOMEN AGAINST MALE VIOLENCE BY
THE STATE. For this essay I am going to look at Domestic Violence against women and what the
State is doing to protect them. Domestic Violence is now a well known global occurrence affecting not
only women but also their children too. Violence against woman has been around since the dawn of
time. We have all seen cartoon pictures of the caveman dragging his mate behind him by her hair. It
was just something that men did. Woman had no protection against men especially if they were
married to their attacker. For the first 75 years of the 20th century women were seen as meek and
subservient to their men and were also owned by those men. Men had a social right to keep ... Show

Violence is attributed to the lower/working classes or black social groups. Sylvia Walby has attacked
this approach by saying that this is not the case. Not all under educated, low paid or low status men go
out and rape and abuse. Radical feminists see domestic violence as a widespread and classless act.
They see that men are expected to take the lead in a situation, they are supposed to be strong and
macho. They go to war and fight for their countries. Their strength is something to be looked up to not
down on. Their strength is their basis of power. The critics against this approach say that is does not
take into account class or race. Male violence is a form of social control and the state does not make
an attempt to control and eradicate it. The sate is run by men, for men, to protect men. Figures to show
the extent of male violence against women is difficult to truly estimate due to the large number of
abuse cases that are never reported to the police. Statistics that have been documented are alarming to
say the least. § 1 in 4 women may experience violence in their relationships with men (Women s Aid
Federation {England} report 1992) § Severe, repeated and systematic violence occurs in at least 5 of
every hundred marriages in the UK: Between 40% and 45% of murdered women are killed by their
male partners; Between 1 and 2 women are murdered by their male partners every week; More that

Prison In To Kill A Mockingbird
Prisons are defined as buildings in which people are legally held as a punishment for a crime they
have committed or while awaiting trial. Prisoners are usually convicted of a crime, such as shoplifting
or murder. However, can imprisonment be caused by simply going against social dynamics? The
answer lies within Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. Written by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
is a novel that was first published in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement. Thus, it is logical
that the novel is set in 1930s Maycomb, Alabama, a setting that contains deep rooted racism and social
dynamics. For instance, women in Maycomb are expected to act like perfect southern belles, by
maintaining a calm demeanor, wearing dresses, and participating ... Show more content on

Here, Scout s main parental figures are Atticus, Calpurnia, and Miss Maudie, who do not influence her
to act like a southern belle. Atticus, Scout s father, and Calpurnia, the Finch s cook, advocate solid
morals, such as consider[ing] things from [another] point of view, rather than attempting to change
Scout s character to match the social dynamics of Maycomb. Miss Maudie, a neighbor, does exert a
feminine influence on Scout by acting like a chameleon lady, for while she works in her garden, she
wears overalls and becomes dirty, however, later in the day, she displays aspects of a southern belle by
reign[ing] over the street in magisterial beauty. Although Miss Maudie projects an important message
to Scout, which is that one s personality does not always have to match expectations, her chameleon
like personality does not pressure Scout to change herself to fit the mold of women in the 1930s. Thus,
Scout does not have an effective womanly influence on her in the dawn of the novel, allowing her to
freely contradict social dynamics and pursue in boyish activities, such as rolling on a tire and playing
football. Therefore, Scout is not confined because there are not any social pressures put upon her.
However, she will soon be presented with a new parental figure, who will force Scout to leave this
personality behind and participate in ladylike

Alternative Energy Can Effectively Replace Fossil Fuels
Alternative Energy Can Effectively Replace Fossil Fuels
In the U.S. alone, carbon dioxide emission levels have risen thirty percent since 2005. If the emissions
continue to rise at this pace, the temperature of the Earth may rise by at most, thirteen degrees.
Temperatures rising to that height could cause chaos across the world. With more and more people
burning fossil fuels every day, this unfortunate future is likely to occur. Fortunately, using pollution
free alternative energy could alter this problem. Developments for alternative energy use are already
being implemented today. Scientists across the world are working to make alternative energy more
efficient in performance and cost. While alternative energy is becoming more and more fit for use in
the everyday lives of people across the world, fossil fuels are still being promoted and used at a
frightening pace. Fossil fuels are causing constant increases of pollution and the unnerving reality of
global warming. Alternative energy would promote a clean, 100 percent pollution free source of
obtaining energy, provide less cost to the consumers that utilize it, and work at an even greater
efficiency than fossil fuels. With the possible, frightening reality of global warming creating a massive
threat to humans, the opportunity for alternative energy to replace fossil fuels is better than ever.
Alternative energy, unlike fossil fuels, are renewable. They also can obtain energy all over the world

Thich Nhat Hanh s A Little History Of Philosophy
Today I am reading A Little History of Philosophy. The book talks about philosophical ethics which
are mainly views a person could use to determine who or what is good or bad, and assessing ideas that
others have proposed. Ethics is important because it lays the foundation of reality and the basis of the
way we should live our lives. It is a vital key to living a more happy, healthy, and discerning life.
People who live a more ethical life tend to be more dependable, understanding, honest, caring, and
happy. The study of philosophy is very useful in the daily lives of nursing and allied health majors.
The three philosophers whose ideas will be useful to me in a nursing and allied health setting are
Buddha and his teaching of right mindfulness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His views on true happiness were different then what we think happiness entails. Aristotle thinks that
when we are children, we don t know what happiness is, therefore children couldn t be happy. I think
he was trying to help us understand the reason for this is, happiness to them is more of luxury, such as
playing outside or playing video games. Children haven t endured stressors or any other life problems
to fully gain happiness. As we mature in life, we see and understand the value of life and we find what
makes us truly happy. These are the things we need, not desire. Aristotle s way of seeking happiness is
defined in a more deeper meaning of life. He used the Greek word Eudaimonia, which is occasionally
translated as flourishing or success rather than happiness (Warburton, 2012 pg.11). The choices we
make, such as the type of person we want to be and the things we want to do in life is how we flourish
and succeed. Although, our Eudaimonia can be affected by of life happenings, such as losing a loved
one, our moral character, the way we respond and deal with these events is how we continue to have

at the opposite to build something in order to get earnings. In the same time, the way to get through

Causes Of The Boston Massacre
In March of 1770, the tensions were high between the American colonist and the British soldiers
stationed in Boston Massachusetts. The massacre happened on March 5, between the British troops
and a crowd in Boston. In the evening of that day, tension would reach a bloody and dangours point
resulting in what has been named The Boston Massacre which had also been called the Incident on
King Street by the British. This incident would turn out to be one of the major events leading to the
American Revolution. The story about how the Boston Massacre happened always is different for
each person, and varies on how it is told. (Boston Massacre Facts) (Wallenfeldt) (White)

Eventually seeing the torment against White, an officer and six privates came to Private White s aid.
There was a rule about how the soldiers were only allowed to fire if and only if the crowd had not
dispersed within an hour. They loaded their weapons and positioned themselves in a defensive form.
The mob grew to over 300 angry colonists. In the mob of angry colonist there was confusion, some
soldiers though that they had heard the command to fire and followed through. When a British soldier,
was struck and hit by an object thrown by one of the colonists, he fired his weapon into the crowd.
Several other British troops followed his actions, before the massacre came to an end and the crowd
dispersed. Captain Thomas Preston was the British officer in charge on the day. He insisted that he
never gave the order for his troops to fire their guns. Yet at some point, they fired their guns, and the
deaths and injuries mounted. It was Preston who ended the shooting. (Boston Massacre Facts)
(Wallenfeldt) (White)
Not long after, Preston and the seven soldiers that he led were under arrest. The sentry who they had
went to rescue was under arrest as well. A town meeting the next morning had produced a demand for
the removal of all the troops, and by March 11 both the 14th. Fearing for their safety, customs
commissioners had left town. Various conflictions had delayed the soldier s trials for months. In the
provisional, both sides of the clash attempted to

Basic Principles Of The Constitutional Law A Police Officer
There are different basic principles of the constitutional law a police officer, but not always a
probation officer must follow when conducting an ethical and legal search of a probationer s house.
All states grant probation and parole officers the power of arrest and search and seizure as those
powers relate to the probationers and parolees under their supervision. They do not have general
powers of arrest and search and seizure over the other people. (Fagin, 2016). When it comes, the
probation officer the can do a warrantless search as the probationer has signed a waiver for the
probation officer to enter their residence at any time as part of their conditions of parole. Typically, the

He was arrested with two other individuals and driven to the police station. On the way to the station,
the police observed Melendez Diaz and one of his cohorts making unusual movements in the back
seat. (Kim Tucci, 2008). When police searched the cruiser 19 plastic bags were found, each filled with
a white substance later reported as cocaine as well as $320 on the floor. Melendez Diaz argued the
point that these lab reports were testimonial in nature and that the Confrontation Clause of the Sixth
Amendment required that he be allowed to cross examine the analysts who prepared them. (Kim
Tucci, 2008). The lab reports have ethical and professional guidelines in place to ensure all materials
are handled carefully and correctly since this is such a critical job secure measures are in place. Drug
analysis certificates are widely used in place of live testimony to establish the composition, quality,
and quantity of drugs introduced as evidence in criminal trials. These certificates are an efficient
means of providing juries with information they need, but they do not give defendants the opportunity
to cross examine the analysts about their conclusions. (Kim Tucci, 2008).

Basketball Shoes Effect On Basketball Players Essay
Basketball Shoes Effect on Basketball Players
James Wheatley

Mrs. Burt
Participating in basketball begins with picking which basketball shoes to wear. The purpose of a sports
shoe is to improve performance or reduce the risk of injury (Fong, Hong Li, 2007). While playing the
game of basketball I ve realized it is a sport that involves different types of shoes which help improve
jumping, landing, cutting and much more. Basketball has its positives and negatives for every age
group; it has good health benefits, but it also consists of moderate to high risk lower body injuries to
the lower back, legs and ankles. There are different types of basketball shoes which consist of high
tops, mid tops, low cuts, cushioned shoes, non cushioned shoes, and other different combinations. The
high tops basketball shoe will have a collar that goes above the ankle like a sleeve. The mid tops
basketball shoe covers slightly above the ankle, but lower than high tops. The low cut basketball shoes
don t have a collar at all and they don t cover the ankle. Shoes also vary by weight and outsole
traction. Through my knowledge picking the shoe to wear is solely on your preference. Whatever shoe
that you choose will have different advantages or disadvantages to them. The purpose of this literature
review is to explore the variety of effects specific shoe types have on basketball athletes.

Consequently, the Internet, computers and networks have become targets and vehicles of cyber attacks and generate challenges to our security privacy. (2014) Cyberspace is now a military dimension; the word cyber is a very significant and probably one of the most common term used in today s international security dialogues. The Internet and e commerce are crucial to the economic competitiveness of many nations, businesses and organizations, however cyber criminal have cost users millions of dollars and valuable assets. Achieving security on the Internet is a very daunting task; as criminals and hackers have become plagues to critical IT infrastructures, online communication and e commerce. Cyber warfare is a very costly and complex reality; it compromises the privacy of web users and has shaped great battles between domains. Governments and organizations are faced with significant threats and challenges daily as advanced software programs are developed and used to exploit and disrupt their computer networks. These increasing series of cyber conflicts between nations, corrupt gangs and virtual terrorist groups; all raises critical economic and national security issues in countries across the globe. In a recent article Clayton (2011) stated that Tomorrow s wars will be fought not just with guns, but with the click of a mouse half a world away that will unleash weaponized software that could take out everything from the power grid to a chemical plant. • 3. Nike Sweatshops Nike is one of the largest most popular sports/athletic brands worldwide. They are number one producer and sellers of sportswear shoes and apparel (Nike Inc, 2017). Being number one the brand now has a market value of almost $30 million, and does seem to be stopping growth (Nike Inc, 2017). Created in 1964, Nike has continuously grown adding many diffusion lines to their brand to be more distinct for different sports. Not only does Nike encompass almost all sports, but also they have brilliant marketing and their trademark Just Do it partnered with the swoosh logo, which is endorsed by celebrities makes Nike a desirable product. A demand that is worldwide requires employees that are willing work around the clock, are paid less than minimum wage, and even employed children workers. At least these were some of the things that Nike thought they needed, to increase profits and get their product distributed. Nike made a huge mistake trying to cut cost by exploiting workers in south Asian countries. Their ethical integrity was compromised and many consumers would not buy from Nike, however now years later Nike has revamped their image with foundations and a traceable supply chain. Hopefully, these measures Nike have taken will prevent any further ethical issues in the future. Like Water For Chocolate Figurative Language In the novel, Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, Esquivel demonstrates how she s sufficient in her tone of writing and portraying the reader s attention by grasping their emotions. She uses nostalgic, imagery, and Syntax. Nostalgic is a tone in the passage when she misses Nacha causing a rush of emotions. Tita becomes carried away with what she missed having with Nacha presuming she would never have lost her this soon. The author applies syntax by using continuous commas on Nacha! The smell: her noodle soup, her chiliaques, her champurrado, her molcajete sauce, her bread with cream, all were far away in a distant past (Esquivel 167). The use of continuous commas contending that the coordinating conjunction is adequate separation, some writers leave out the comma in a sentence with short, balanced independent clauses. ... She has yet to tell Pedro but instead of worrying, she decides to focus on preparing the Kings Day Bread for her guests. • 6. The Rape Of The Daughters Of Leucipus Analysis This art piece is titled The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus and the artist is Peter Paul Rubins. This work was created in 1618 in what was probably Antwerp, Belgium. The socio cultural situation during at that time and place was tense with the short 12 year truce during Eighty Years War that resumed in 1619. This war was being fought at this time in what was called the Low Countries (comprised of some of modern Belgium) and included Antwerp. There were also conflicting religions with Protestants and Catholics at this time as seen with the Thirty Years War that began in 1618. This piece is made of oil paint and was made by using a brush to paint the oil onto the canvas. The story being told here is about the Greek myth of two twin brothers named Pollux and Castor who kidnapped and married the daughters of King Leucippus. Two recognizable images are Castor, who is dressed in garb common for a horse tamer, while Pollux is completely nude. In the image, it is clear that the two daughters are being taken away against their will by the two men with their horses. The exact location of this event is not clear but it appears to be occurring in a green valley of some sort where trees and hills can be seen in the background. Although the time in which it is happening is not evident either, based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What happens to the daughters of Leucippus in this scene is incredibly tragic and yet the artwork also predicts the tragedy that will befall the brothers. I think the other qualities could be described as dramatic such as the awkward and flailing positions of the women that is meant to bring attention to the piece. This work really reminds me of other traditional art pieces I have seen with the style of the painting and the usage of darks and lights to highlight figures. I think it is very similar to other paintings I have seen about mythical figures but this one seems to emphasize on the roles of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Canadian Airstrikes During Iraq And Syria What these publications and the vast majority of the general population contending that Trudeau ought to proceed with Canadian airstrikes in Iraq and Syria miss are a few motivations to stop the bombarding, some of them coming from a more radical perspective, others immovably even minded. To start with, the even minded. We don t recognize what will come after ISIS Basically everybody who isn t in ISIS concurs that the gathering is awful. In any case, we can t go firearms (or planes, so to speak) bursting after each awful gathering on the planet, and we shouldn t. Iraq and Afghanistan are impeccable samples of this. Ling raised the 2003 attack of Iraq in his section also, and I need to address what he composed: Presently, some are attracting examinations to the 2003 attack of Iraq, in spite of there being for all intents and purposes no sensible association. The West isn t thumping over some worthless tyrant to introduce an inviting majority rule government, it is putting forth air support for an equitably chose government and neighborhood strengths. This is not an attack. It isn t a ground war. It is logistical air support. It s actual that the kind of war being pursued in Iraq and Syria at this moment is distinctive, yet it s not clear that the impacts will be. Both Iraq and Syria are crushed by war, common and something else, and if ISIS is steered from the region there are no solid governments to move in and restore request. The Iraqi government is a ... Should A Truck Be Restricted Essay Even though That the lifted trucks will be less likely to see small vehicles and therefore become more likely to rear end them., they should not be restricted because it is basically telling a person that you can t drive a big truck because we the government can t because lifted trucks will also have to be more wealthy people because a higher lift would be more expensive causing that person to more likely have insurance and lifted trucks will be more likely to be alert because they are driving a bigger truck. Cops have pulled over trucks that are majorly big or huge and the cops treat them differently then they would treat a regular car that got pulled over. A truck s height should not be restricted because that is basically saying your truck can only be this high because it supposedly becomes a hazard when it is huge but it isn t. • 10. Pythogoras of Samos Essay examples Pythagoras of Samos is often described as the first pure mathematician. He is an extremely important figure in the development of mathematics yet we know little about his achievements. There is nothing that is truly accurate pertaining to Pythagoras s writings. Today Pythagoras is certainly a mysterious figure. Little is known of Pythagoras s childhood. Pythagoras s father was Mnesarchus, and his mother was Pythais. Mnesarchus was a merchant who came from Tyre. Pythais was a native of Samos. As a child Pythagoras spent his early years in Samos, but traveled with his father. There are accounts, that during their travels, Mnesarchus returned to Tyre with Pythagoras, and had him taught there by the Chaldaeans. Certainly growing up he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pythagoras made a journey to Crete shortly after his return to Samos to study the system of laws there. After a short stay in Crete, Pythagoras found himself back in Samos. There he discovered a school called the semicircle. This was the site of his own philosophical teaching, spending most of the night and daytime there and doing research into the uses of mathematics. He tried to use his unique method of teaching, which was similar to the lessons he had learned in Egypt, but Samians were not very keen on this. Pythagoras saw that the Samians were not giving him the respect and credit he deserved, so he moved on Pythagoras left and founded a philosophical/religious school in Croton on the southern tip of Italy. His school practiced secrecy and communalism making it hard to tell the difference between the work of Pythagoras and work of his followers. Although it did made outstanding contributions to mathematics. Pythagoras gained many followers there, and became the head of a society with an inner circle of followers known as mathematikoi. The mathematikoi lived permanently with the Society, had no personal possessions and were vegetarians. They weren t acting as a mathematics research group does in a modern university. There were no open problems for them to solve, and they were not in any sense interested in trying to create or solve mathematical problems. • 11. Psychoanalytic Techniques In Tim Burton s Films Tim Burton Stylistic Essay Tim Burton is a director that uses an excellent assortment of stylistic techniques. Many authors and directors use a pattern of style traits, however, Tim Burton s traits are probably the most noticeable when watching his movies compared to other movies made by different directors. Tim Burton is the man who made the movies Edward Scissorhands, Vincent, Alice In Wonderland, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, all movies that depict a dark and eerie tone. Tim Burton repeatedly uses the stylistic techniques that connect the movies and make a dark, gentle horror and child like tone, such as costumes/makeup that cast an appearance different than what most others would make a person or thing look like, characters that are child like and essentially innocent, imagery is also used to portray the dark, along ... If it weren t for Edward s doe brown eyes, you would have assumed he was dead. All of these characteristics, except for the doe eyes, make the characters in Tim Burton s films look like corpses which gives the gentle horror tone. The doe eyes are what gives Edward a sense of child like innocence that expresses the main tone in this movie. You will recognize some of these same characteristics in Alice In Wonderland. In this movie, everyone in the real world is white, pale, blonde or brown hair, never black or black hair, they also have the dark circles under their eyes. • 12. Buchnera Aphidicol Southern Blot Analysis Aphids possess bacteriocytes that are specific to its obligate mutualist, Buchnera aphidicola. It seems that this genus has lost genes that are essential to its life. Through Southern Blot analysis, Nikoh and Nakabachi have shown that these lost genes are actually encoded in the aphid genome. Through detailed structural and phylogenetic analyses, the full length sequences of these transcripts were determined. This demonstrated that these transcripts are indeed significantly similar to multiple bacterial genes. While the Buchnera no longer possess these genes, other similar bacteria (E. Coli) possess these genes. Nikoh and Nakabachi were able to conclude that they found several pieces of evidence that show that aphids are indeed able to acquire genes from bacteria through lateral gene transfer. They also claim that these genes are used to maintain their obligate mutualistic relationship with the bacteria, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... show similar results in another study. The same species as the one mentioned before, Buchnera aphidicola has a highly reduced genome, which increases the chances that gene transfer occurred from the bacteria to the aphid. Using the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, they were able to provide stronger support of the transfer of 12 genes from the bacteria to the aphid genome. While they were able to identify this transfer between the pea aphid and the bacteria, they found that none of these genes were transferred between Buchnera and the aphid, just like in the previous study. Sandstrom et al. looked at different ways this gene transfer could have occurred. Insects in general usually host secondary bacterial symbionts along with primary endosymbionts. Both symbionts are maternally transmitted. Their results showed that a community of bacteria invades aphid cells and are transmitted both vertically and horizontally among other aphid lineages. • 13. The Intricate Digestive System of the Brown Pelican The brown pelican has an intricate digestive system in its body. For example, the bird s digestive system is specially adapted for consuming fish. In contrast, Pelecanus occidentalis cannot digest large fish bones, such as those from different kinds of sport fishes. Bird beaks and bills act as a mouth for the pelican. When food enters the birds bill, the food is sent down the esophagus to the stomach (proventriculus). The pelican then stores the food in the crop, a temporary storage solution for food for birds (Kennedy, 2005). In addition, the crop also allows the pelicans food to soften after entering the stomach. There are two parts of the stomach in Pelecanus occidentalis: the proventriculus and the gizzard (Kendrick 2010). In the proventriculus, specialized cells secrete pepsin. Furthermore, the food is then passed on to the gizzard, where it grinds it down to make it easier for the digestive enzymes to break down the food. Another part of the pelican s digestive system is the small intestine, where food is digested and absorbed. The last part of the bird s digestive system is the cloaca, which holds the waste products of digestion until they are expelled out through the vent. In addition, the large intestine connects the small intestine to the cloaca. Homeostasis is well maintained in the organism due to the digestive system. • 14. Smaug Song Analysis Movie Music Analysis: Smaug s Theme Smaug s Theme was composed by Howard Shore for 2013 s The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. The genre of the piece is film fantasy, adventure and has touches of horror mixed in with it. The song fits the style of the majestic dragon that is its namesake, and it flows wonderfully with the movie, taking in various other relative themes and working with the events that happen in the movie. Smaug s Theme was written by the award winning Howard Shore and performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for the second Hobbit movie, Desolation of Smaug. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an example of how most of the piece has an underlying, faster beat to uphold the feeling of fleeing . Occasionally the underlying ostinato isn t present because, in those scenes, the dwarves and Bilbo are in a room where the dragon cannot get to them. Smaug s Theme is in 4/4 (simple duple) time and starts out slow, before an accelerando, eventually hitting 180bpm, which represents the movie s rapid change of pace. This represents the drift from a conversation, to a dragon hunting down the company to kill them. Through the rhythm and dynamics, it is clear that Howard Shore s Smaug s Theme has successfully highlighted the style of the film. Smaug is very magnificent and grand, yet treacherous and cunning. In terms of the timbre of Smaug s Theme, a symphony orchestra is used with the strings and brass being the most prominent, plus a few extra instruments such as an Indonesian gamelan and finger cymbals. Little woodwind is heard, with flute and clarinet making a few solo appearances. The lower brass, particularly the tuba and trombone, represent Smaug, and his enormous, powerful, and deceivingly slow manner. The violins play a large range of pitches and depict the beautiful, yet eerie emptiness of the halls under the mountain and how it has an immense dread feel to it. Gamelan, chimes and finger cymbals are used to forge an exotic feeling and together, sound like treasure, with the light chinking of coins and gold. The percussion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Analysis Of Blood On The Forge By William Attaway A Change of Culture Culture has the power of informing you of someone s identity. It is said that culture is the way of life a group of people follow, meaning their behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that identify them as where they came from, who they are, and who they can become. On the other hand, we know that culture is always changing and adapting to the lifestyle and advances of the present day. This can happen by the adaptation groups of people have suffered in order to achieve a better way of living other than the one they ve previously had. Examples of these changes can be seen with the Great Migration in the 1900s. A movement in which many African Americans moved to the North to work and settle in the steel mills in search of a better life. In Blood on the Forge by William Attaway, we are able to in fact prove that culture can change and adaptation plays a key role in our existence. The book portrays this change through the life and experiences of the Moss brothers and their lifestyle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. With that of culture comes our identity through music. The death of the blues serves as an example in how culture is put up to the challenge of change. Melody, Chinatown, and Big Mat represent the loss of folk culture which accompanied the Great Migration of Black people from the rural South to the industrial North (Waldron 58). As we begin to read, we are able to interpret their lives and identity in the South through Melody s music. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women face sexual objectification everyday and Shange, in her novel For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide, takes several women from ambiguous backgrounds to reiterate the challenges a woman faces in trying to maintain agency over her body through the ubiquitous nature of sexual objectification and its ability to perpetuate gender violence. The first introduction we experience from the women is their challenge with sexuality and embracing their bodies. The graduation story is a story about a black girl who feels sexually liberated after losing her virginity. The poem ends with the line, in the backseat of that ol buick/wow//by daybreak/ I just couldn t stop grinnin (Shange 8). Solo, their parts sound odd and out of place, lacking the harmonies mindfully composed for the rest of the orchestra. Humans are interdependent, social creatures by nature. We rely on each other to survive. We rely on each other to do jobs that might require a certain skill set or jobs that we might not have time to do ourselves. We even rely on each other to bring a sense of familiarity and security to our communities just by knowing one another. If we all remained anonymous, then we could not rely on each other to satisfy these vital societal needs. Scott Russell Sanders, in his essay The Common Life , states that the more people in a community who prefer to live isolated and reclusive lives, the more susceptible the community is to a division that impedes its ability to live together, interact synergistically, and thrive. He correctly believes that this division can lead to a total breakdown in society. For this essay I am going to look at Domestic Violence against women and what the State is doing to protect them. Domestic Violence is now a well known global occurrence affecting not only women but also their children too. Violence against woman has been around since the dawn of time. We have all seen cartoon pictures of the caveman dragging his mate behind him by her hair. It was just something that men did. They see that men are expected to take the lead in a situation, they are supposed to be strong and macho. They go to war and fight for their countries. Their strength is something to be looked up to not down on. Their strength is their basis of power. The critics against this approach say that is does not take into account class or race. The answer lies within Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. Written by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel that was first published in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement.
