Homeless Organization
Some people might think that the people living on the streets don t have a home because they didn t
make use of opportunities while they could. Even though that may be true for some, others didn t have
the best childhood and didn t have the money to go to school and be successful. I am here to give them
a second chance and renew themselves. I am creating an organization to build tiny homes for the
homeless. I have done some research about different tiny homes communities. There are several in the
US that have wanted to house the homeless, but none have specifically wanted to create an
organization and expand. One is located in Austin, Texas and they serve the homeless food with a food
truck. My goal is to be able to expand from Texas and go into surrounding states as well. There are
roughly 565,000 homeless people in the US that need our help, 20,000 of those are located in Texas. If
you have ever been to the Dallas Fort Worth area, you have probably seen some around the streets.
Texas has tons of acres of empty land that we can make these communities on and transport the
homeless to these houses to get a fresh start. Speaking of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My solution is to spread the word about the organization by putting out flyers, maybe asking the
newspaper to put an ad in, and making a website to gain awareness and to spread the word everywhere
not just in our small town. Sponsors don t have to be just big companies; it can be locals who want to
support us. I was thinking we should have a donation box where you can donate supplies, furniture,
appliances, and even toys and clothes for the kids. Getting furniture and appliances will cut the cost of
the house tremendously. The big sponsors I would love to have would be Lowe s and Home Depot.
They would help us with all the supplies (wood, screws, nail, lighting,

E-Commerce And Tourism Case Study
1. Statement of Problem E commerce has played a major role in few continents that the Internet has
penetrated. Years before the emergence of e commerce, traditional business remained the mode for
transactions, which made consumers experience difficulties finding time to check various stores in
search for different brands and products. However, in today s generation, the utilization of e
commerce has conveniently provided consumers with the possibilities of doing so without the need to
step out of their homes at any time of the day. E commerce, in a matter of few years, has successfully
spread throughout different industries, one of which is tourism. In this developing age of e commerce,
traditional travel agencies are forced to adapt to this change by exploiting the benefits of e commerce
to satisfy the market s online search for holiday tours. The state of e commerce in the Philippines has
been slow in comparison to other countries including fellow Southeast Asian countries. Ranking only

Small to medium businesses also recognize this opportunity to gain competitive advantage against
large businesses that they could not easily get with traditional business. According to an issued survey,

used by these businesses to improve their operations while also discovering new business prospects
(Yang, n.d.). Many studies have shown that service sectors also utilize E commerce in their business
operations, including banking industry, healthcare, and specifically for this case study, tourism
industry. In these service sectors, a key to their business operations involves providing information

Underground Space And Underground Storage
Storage Recently, underground space is commonly used to accommodate vehicles and bicycles, for
instance in Delft, the city was trying to reduce the amount of parked bicycles on the streets, therefore
an underground bicycle parking facility which can accommodates 5,000 bicycles was built. Besides
parking, underground storage can be used for all kind of goods, chemicals, waste, hazardous
substance, oil and gas, and etc. And underground food storage was most commonly found in the
world, as humans have a long tradition of using the underground space as storage to keep perishable
goods, wine and ice , for example in 200 A.D, Cappadocia s underground space was used as wine
cellars and storage rooms. In comparison to both underground metro and ... Show more content on

In China s Chongqing, an air raid shelter was used as an experimental facility named Chaoyang
Underground Granary to examine the efficiency of underground food storage. China s Chongqing has
a subtropical climate long summer with an average day temperature of 35°C, thus this experiment was
focused on the usefulness of underground space in warm climate region. In order to achieve a more
effective experiment, husked rice was stored in an underground granary and a nearby surface level
granary, both with a variation in temperature and air tightness. The result was surface granary tend to
have more microbes and insects which caused the quality of rice to deteriorate, and more expenses
were to spend on pesticides. In contrast, underground granary doesn t need any pesticides once its
space was vacuumed by an air pump, as a vacuum space will restrict the growth of microbes and
insects. Therefore, no pesticides were needed for pest control, which result in less pollution for the
environment. Table 1 Comparison between the surface and underground granary. Surface Granary

A Design Primer For The Domestication Of Health Technologies
A design primer for the Domestication of Health Technologies
Abstract
Pressures on health care rethink health service. Substantial body of work within the fields of Health
practitioners and technologists . Opportunities for design who can play key role but less research is

There has been growing recognition of the potential of design to transform health care drawing on a
tradition of creative and divergent thinking to address the significant challenges. These challenges are
by definition wicked problems , where there is no single true answer and where design s strength lies
in creatively responding to these complex interdependencies.
Escalating costs of healthcare services and a shortage of personnel and facilities have put pressure on
the health system to deliver more care on an outpatient basis.
While tending to health needs at home has a long history and some medical devices have been used in
the home for many years, we are now witnessing an increasing migration of other devices and
emergent technologies into the home setting.
However most medical devices are designed for health professionals in formal health care settings and
not for domestic use. Consequently there are many challenges to address the complexity demanded by
the varied users within this environment.
eHealth is the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for health (WHO).
According to the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) telehealth and telecare are relatively new eHealth
services, the language used to describe them is still evolving and the terms used are interchangeable.
Telehealth (also referred to as telemedicine) covers the remote monitoring of physiological data that
can be used by health professionals for diagnosis or disease management.

Biography of Janis Siegel
Janis Siegel, who has won nine Grammy s and has been nominated for another seventeen Grammy s is
most famous for her diverse musical talent. Janis Siegel was born on July 23rd, 1952 in Brooklyn,
New York. She began learning about music at an early age and she began singing with a trio girl group
at the age of twelve. The group was called The Young Generation. By the time she had graduated high
school, she and her band had already released two singles both produced by Richard Perry. Janis
Siegel says, At that time, I was exclusively listening to pop and folk music. When Motown became
popular, I fell head over heels for it [ ]. In high school and college though, she said John Coltrane was
her musical idol for jazz. After the band The Young Generation had graduated high school, they
transitioned to becoming an acoustic folk type of band. They then renamed themselves as Laurel
Sanyon. Then as Janis Siegel attended college for a couple of years, she studied nursing. But she quit
and decided to keep all her attention on the band Laurel Sanyon. At a party one time, Tim Hauser who
was a taxi driver, met Janis and asked her to sing some of his demos. He had musical ambitions to
which then he invited her to join a singing group that he d been trying to create called The Manhattan

Michael Sandberg, chairman of HSBC in Hong Kong, was considering the alternatives for expanding
in the US market.
Reasons to enter into the US market:
HSBC dealings in the Eurocurrency market had led to large deposits of US dollars, British pounds and
other currencies, which the bank needed to lend to borrowers somewhere.
HSBC had been already operating in the United States since 1875.
Although HSBC had over a century of experience in international banking, it had never considered a
major move into the US domestic market.
In the late 1970 s, at a time where their British pounds, deutsche marks, and Japanese yen could buy
far more dollars than in the 1950 s and 1960 s, many of the bank s clients were establishing offices,
factories, and other investments in the United States.
Move into the US market as a hedge against the substantial risk of nationalization by the Chinese
government.
Interest on establishing domestic activities in the US, who was generally viewed as the least politically
risky environment in the world.
HSBC had a competitive strength: its large staff of experiences bankers who knew about both lending
and borrowing opportunities in Asia that were little known to potential US clients.

The Pros And Cons Of Cartoons
If a worldwide phenomenon is defined as an occurrence that is reaching throughout the world, then it
would be reasonably logical to conclude that the consumption of animated cartoon shows are indeed, a
worldwide phenomenon. Since 1960s, cartoons have provided numerous generations of children with
a type of entertainment that filled their little minds with fantasy and imagination. Cartoons may have
started out as an entertainment for children. However, the world today sees different genres of
cartoons produced to target a different group of audience, and cartoons today are not anymore
exclusive to children. The Children: As a matter of fact, we all loved cartoons as a child. Cartoons
were fun and precious to children just like how exciting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, since this group of audiences is at the stage of learning more complex knowledge that may
be tedious to infuse into entertainment based animated shows, the scriptwriters would rather leave the
academic teachings to the schools. Instead, cartoons of this genre are evidently focused on delivering
moral values and encouraging friendships and family cohesiveness. Plots for these cartoon shows
might feature the characters going through some distressing troubles or difficulties; however, things
always turn out right in the end. SpongeBob Squarepants , a long run cartoon series from the 90s
featuring SpongeBob the yellow sponge and his starfish best friend Patrick, has been undoubtedly
successful in imparting valuable lessons on friendship and altruism in the minds of teenagers. For
example, SpongeBob has always been portrayed as being very giving and selfless to Patrick who
might sometimes seems brainless and naive; Patrick, on the other hand, though usually emotionless,
becomes very sad when SpongeBob befalls some unfortunate fate, and always attempts to help him at
his best efforts. Cartoons for the young adults may also adopt a more lenient language style,
permitting the use of trending slangs and everyday phrases such as what s up or aww man which are
otherwise fended off by the scriptwriters of a children s

Compared to the sniper, there was no hesitation at all when the sniper shot the enemy. In the text it

looked at his enemy falling and he shuddered. The lust of battle died in him. He became bitten by
remorse (O Flaherty 166). Throughout the short story, of Horseman in the Sky , the reader obtained
many character traits about Carter including, how he enjoys the outdoors, comparing it to a piece art,

every single Disney movie has a lesson, and it s meant for all ages. Whether it s Disney World or a

minority elderly who are trying to seek employment in our community in order to increase the life
quality of the minority elderly as well as the harmonious of our highly diversified community.
Our community organization, XXX, which has long been devoting to the improvement of life quality

Describe The Main Functions Of The Trachea
The nose and the nasal cavity form the main external opening for air to come through. The air that
comes through is warmed and filtered by the mucus.
The mouth is the secondary external opening for the respiratory tract. It does not have the hair and
sticky mucus that filter air passing through the nasal cavity but its shorter distance and bigger space
allows more air to quickly enter the body.
The nasal cavity is a hollow space within the nose and skull that is lined with hairs and mucus
membrane. The nasal cavity warms, moisturizes, and filters air that enters the body. Hairs and mucus
inside the nasal cavity also help to trap dust before it enters the body.
The air that we breathe in through the nose or mouth, travels through the larynx, down the windpipe,
and then into the lungs. The larynx contains muscle called vocal cords. When we try to speak, the
cords come together, and vibrate as we breathe out. This is what gives us our voice. ... Show more

main function of the alveoli is gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. The oxygen that is inhaled

A policy is a written statement about how you will work in one area of your practice
A procedure are the actions you will take to carry out the procedure.
They should be clear and simple. Your policy should start with a short, clear statement, eg:
POLICY : It is my policy to keep children safe when they are in my care
PROCEDURE: List the things that you will do to ensure that this statement is met. Say HOW you will
do them and WHEN.
You need to think about your practice and premises and make it individual to you and your home.

If I have more than 1 child in my care, I will use my best judgement as to how other children will be
looked after. You would be consulted about this by phone. There is a parent ring round provision in the
event of an emergency to inform all parents of children under my care.
If parents do not arrive or I am unable to contact them, I will stay with the child until the appropriate
treatment has been given and then return home where your child would be cared for until the arrival of
the parents
BEHAVIOUR POLICY
It is my belief that children misbehave because they have not yet learnt how to react to feelings and
needs in acceptable ways.
The most common needs and feelings that can trigger unacceptable behaviour are
Attention, Boredom, Curiosity, Imitation, Self preservation, Independence, Anger, Frustration,
Anxiety, Fear, Excitement, Anticipation
I believe in the Maria Montessori philosophy that confirms:
Behaviour is learnt
Behaviour can change
Rewards work better than punishments
Practice makes perfect
Consistency is the key
Never assume that a child misbehaves intentionally.
Our children are very young and may not have learnt what appropriate behaviour is yet. Children need
to know what we want them to do and it is important that we tell them what we want them to do rather
than what we don t want them to do. Behaviour will be repeated if the underlying children s needs
remain unmet.

mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men in society. To further explain
this notion, she makes use of several different rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when she
establishes a connection between the dreadful physical and mental health of full time housewives plus
men working on assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden problems of
alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived ideas about gender

The Internet And Its Effect On Our Lives
Summary and Analysis
My first image shows that in today s generation the internet is becoming a huge factor in their day to
day lives. The internet allows this generation to communicate with each other through text messages,
or social media like Facebook, and twitter. The internet provides us with all of the answers to our day
to day questions; it also provides us with endless amounts of entertainment such as games, music, and
movies, etc. The internet also makes living our day to day lives easier by providing us with the ability
to run our businesses online and change stocks. However, excessive activity and addictive activity are
two very different things. Healthy excessive activities add to life, whereas addictions take away from
it. Problematic internet use also known as internet addiction disorder is and individuals inability to
control their urges, or behaviors regarding internet use that lead to distress or impairment. As time
went on and the amount of internet use increased, (IAD) has attracted the attention of many
researchers. Some worry that the Internet, with its visual stimulation and constant distractions, is
altering the way we think and not for the better. Some studies indicate that it may alter physical
mechanics of the brain that lead to long term memory formation, (Clark) And China and South Korea
have declared Internet addiction a primary public health concern. Nicholas Carr and Betsy Sparrow
are two of the main people who speak on this subject.

soldiers and horseback to fight battles across the large empire. The soldiers were a very important

these knights were given land they would then have to fight for Charlemagne whenever they were

years for many different kings. A couple of knights made the decision to pledge themselves to
defending the Christian faith. They did orders that fought in the crusades. They were called military

Learning about One s Tribe in the The Way to Rainy Mountain
The Way to Rainy Mountain is by no means a normal novel. It does not have the same cookie cutter
formation as most books, where the plot goes from beginning to end in neat little chapters. It is not
just a simple book, it is a book that has meaning, and it is a book that makes its readers think. It is a
book about connections from the past. These connections are like puzzle pieces that the main
character, N. Scott Momaday, has to put together in his journey to truly understand his heritage.
Through the past, Momaday finds a way to honor his grandmother s memory and to connect with his
Kiowa culture. The past comes in many different forms; it could be the way distant past spanning

This Mountain is where much happiness and contentment was felt for the Kiowas, it is where
Momaday s origins began, and it is the place where tragedy struck the tribe. This tragedy came in the
form of soldiers. One example of this is when the Kiowas were going to perform a ceremonial
Sundance, Before the dance could begin, a company of soldiers rode out from Fort Sill under orders to
disperse the tribe (Momaday 10). These soldiers ripped the Kiowas of their land and eventually placed
them in reservations. This is where Momaday grew up, and this is where the barrier between the older
generation and the younger generation began. This history of the Kiowa culture is a very important
part of the novel because it explains where the gap between generations began, and in Momaday s
point of view, it explains the gap between him and his grandmother. Momaday s grandmother was part
of the last generation of the Kiowas that were in a sense traditional. Her generation experienced the
true Kiowa customs and language. When Momaday s grandmother died, all he had left was her
memory and the wisdom that she left embedded in his mind. Upon returning to his grandmother s
house Momaday stated, Now there is a funeral silence in the rooms, the endless wake of some final

journey to bridge the gap between his grandmother and himself. His

Importance Of Sequence Specific Primer PCR
Sequence specific primer PCR
With the advancement of sequencing technology, vast information on DNA sequences of many animal
genomes has been developed (Goff et al. 2002; Yu et al. 2002). In order to correlate DNA sequence
information with particular a phenotype of a trait, sequence specific molecular marker techniques have
been designed. Expressed sequence tags (EST) analysis is one such type. By adopting this method,
Expressed sequence tags of many animal species have been created and these sequences are subjected
as putative functional genes by using advanced bioinformatics tools.

markers because polymorphism exists and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They usually exhibit simple Mendelian inheritance and codominant expression, making genetic
interpretations easy. Disadvantages associated with allozymes include heterozygote deficiencies due to
null (enzymatically inactive) alleles and the amount and quality of tissue samples required (Hillis et
al., 1996). In addition, some changes in DNA sequence are masked at the protein level, reducing the
level of detectable variation. Some changes in nucleotide sequence do not change the encoded
polypeptide (silent substitutions), and some polypeptide changes do not alter the mobility of the
protein in an electrophoretic gel (synonymous substitutions). Moreover, genetic variations caused by
mutations are expressed as amino acid replacements due to changes in protein compositions, and are
resolved as bands (alleles) on electrophoresis (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). However, other
limitations developed by allozymes are highly biased genomic sampling (only genes encoding well
documented, soluble proteins are detectable); a low number of markers, insufficient for examining
major portions of the genome; occasional differences between tissues or ontogenetic stages; and
difficulty in the standardization of experimental methods from laboratory to laboratory (DeYoung and
Honeycutt, 2005). Low levels of genetic variation revealed in many allozyme studies of animal
populations prompted a continued search for markers with greater genetic resolution.

Compare And Contrast Andrew Jackson And The Democratic Party
Who would believe me if I said for a short time in American history there was only one political
party? Well, from the years 1812 to 1824 the Republican Party was the only political party in the U.S.
Due to an increasing amount of voter interest the election of 1828 saw the first presidential candidates
from two separate parties. Andrew Jackson was the representative from the Democratic Party, and
Henry Clay represented the Whig Party. Both Democratic and Whig parties impacted America in
many ways during the 19th century, but one in particular stood out significantly amongst the other.
Soon after the war of 1812, the Federalist Party collapsed, leaving just one political party in the U.S.
for over a decade. It was not until the election of 1824 that there was an emergence of a second party
system. As stated previously one party led by Andrew Jackson was the Democrats. The Democratic
Party developed when Andrew Jackson was elected president. The democrats believed in helping the
common man. They stayed out of state affairs, favored the working class, and were tolerant of
immigrants. The Whig party which consisted of mainly prosperous people formed in opposition to the
Democratic Party. They believed that the federal government should be actively involved in the
economy to stimulate growth. They were also in favor of tariffs to protect infant industries and
internal improvements.
Andrew Jackson was a major political figure for the democrats. He and John Quincy Adams were the

Apollo 13 Analysis
The movie that I have selected is Apollo 13 directed by Ron Howard. The movie was filmed in 1995
and the lead roles were played by Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell, Bill Paxton as Fred Haise, Kevin Bacon
as Jack Swigert, Gary Sinise as Kevin Mattingly, and Ed Harris as Gene Kranz. It was written by
William Broyles, Jr. and Al Reinert. The movie was all in color, it does not have a sequel to it, and it is
140 minutes. I watched it December 11, 2014 at my house. Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert
are assigned to the mission Apollo 13. Their target was the Fra Mauro Formation, a site that interest
many scientist, and is located on the south western center of the moon.(Charles Redmond, October 22,
2004) While giving a tour of NASA, Lovell is told ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

home, they fall into a dark side. Sciences has proven that there is no actual dark side . The other side
of the moon that no longer faces the earth gets the same amount of sunlight, than the side facing the
earth. (Roxanne Palmer, 04/17/14) The director did this to show the darkness, and depression the three
men felt while passing the moon. Another mistake in the movie that wasn t historically correct is while
passing the moon Fred Haise points the spot where the astronauts of Apollo 13 once walked. That spot
isn t historically correct. The spot they showed in the movie is where two other astronauts walked
during the Apollo 15 mission. (Roxanne Palmer, 04/17/14) When the accident occurred in space,
Kevin Mattingly was at the NASA Space Center, and not sleeping in his home as shown in the movie.
The director did this to show how depressed he was about not going into space.(n.a.9/7/2104) The

it was depicted clearly. They filmed in Hollywood, Florida, and Texas. In order to capture the men

Contextualization Raymond Douglas, known as Ray Bradbury is an American fantasy, horror, science
fiction, and mystery writer. Bradbury was born in Illinois in 1920. He graduated from Los Angeles

important than colleges and universities.
Bradbury began to publish science fiction stories in fanzines in 1938. He became a full time writer by
the end of 1942. His first collection of short stories, Dark Carnival, was published in 1947. Many of

George and Lydia will decide to call a psychologist. The psychologist David McClean will suggest
them to turn off the room and the house, and leave. But before turning off the nursery the children
asked their pa rents for one last nursery visit. After a few minutes the kids will call George and Lydia
and when they will enter in the nursery to see what was happening the children will lock them in. It
seems quite clear that the children are more connected to the house than they are their own parents. At
this moment we understand that besides the African setting, George and Lydia find personal
recreations of their belongings in the nursery.
Structural analysis . At the beginning of the story we have a description of the situation. We know the
story happens in the future. We know there is a family who lives in a mechanical house but the
situation is normal and realistic. The complication in this story will be the nursery because it seems to
be stuck in an African setting. it will create a real conflict between the nursery and the parents and also
between the kids and the parents because they are actually the ones who create that African veldt. The
tension increase during the story when for example, Mr. and Mrs. Hadley heir screams coming from
the nursery, when they saw the nursery door trembling as if

If Mommy Was Breastfeed Essay
If Mommy is sick, can she breastfeed?
When you are sick, you and your baby will almost always benefit from continuing to breastfeed. There
are very few illnesses that require a mother to stop nursing.
Since most illnesses are caused by viruses that are most contagious before you even realize you are
sick, your baby has already been exposed before you even develop symptoms (such as fever, diarrhea,
vomiting, rash, runny nose, cough, etc). Continuing to breastfeed will help protect your baby from the
infection, because your body produces antibodies to the specific organism that is causing the infection,
and you pass them on to the baby in your breast milk. Often, a breastfed baby will be the only member
of the family who doesn t get sick. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you are diabetic, breastfeeding offers many advantages. It reduces your stress level, reduces the risk

Mothers with epilepsy can nurse. The medications needed to control the seizures may cause sedation
and poor sucking in your baby.
Thyroid levels can change during pregnancy and lactation, even with mothers who never had thyroid
irregularities before.
An underactive thyroid can cause fatigue, poor appetite, and depression. Thyroid supplements taken
during lactation will not hurt your baby. An overactive thyroid can cause serious health problems. If
radioactive therapy is recommended, temporary weaning may be necessary. Keep in mind that all of
the OTC medications approved for use in nursing mothers are very safe, and in nearly all cases, the
risk of side effects on your baby is extremely small. You are not going to hurt your baby. Remember
all the advantages of human milk and how important breastfeeding is to you and your baby, and try to

president of the United States, but a lot happens before that; both democrats and republicans need to
pick their candidates for president. This process is called the Primary Election. The Primary Election
voting usually takes between January and June. There are lots of republicans running.

The first states to vote in the primary election are Iowa(Feb1) and New Hampshire(Feb9). Iowa is a

eliminating the current need to gain practical experience after receiving your bachelors degree. This

numerous wildlife animals. This will allow you hands on experience and always access to knowledge
that has already saved numerous wildlife animals. If SeaWorld created their own certification

be able to go through SeaWorld instead. SeaWorld would be able to teach students the best way to care

Blown Glass
What is abstract blown glass art? This seems like such a simple question, but it really is not simple to
answer. Blown glass basically means that the glass was crafted into a specific form by a glassblower.
Abstract art is said to have come from many different movements, including expressionism. This type
of art can come in many different forms, including computer generation art, painting, sculpting, and
glass blowing. Abstract art basically means that the end result does not have a face, so it is somewhat
unrecognizable.
Abstract blown glass is typically derived from scientific glassblowing. Usually, scientific glassblowers
will make lab items, such as beakers and tubes, but sometimes, you will find a rare scientific

Why Did the Treaty of Maastricht Mark a Milestone in...
Why did the Treaty of Maastricht mark a milestone in creating a political union?
The Treaty of Maastricht, formerly known as the Treaty of the European Union came at a pivotal time
in European history. Eastern Europe was a victim of the collapse of Communism, which had a strong
impact on the European Commission (EC) as this meant new potential markets were open which they
were keen to take over (Bache, 2001:124). However, the collapse of Communism in the Soviet Union
meant that there was unsettlement in the east. During the same period of time there was possibility for
reunification in Germany. This was looked upon with great caution because many feared that this
could cause Germany Nationalism to ignite again. Due to these events ... Show more content on

For instance, the European Parliament now had the ability to veto legislation. Other institutional
changes saw the formation of a Committee of Regions and the Court of Justice be given the right to
fine member states that were not complying with its judgments (Bieler, 2009:Lecture 4). Moreover,
there were pivotal policy changes as it introduced education, public health, the environment and
consumer protection, again to promote Europe s supranational qualities.
Maastricht carried on to emphasize the necessity of European integration and the head s of
government agreed that this would be achieved by a three pillar structure. The three pillars were the
EC pillar (economic and social affairs), and the intergovernmental pillars of Common Foreign and
Security Policy (CFSP) and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) (Bache, 2001:124).

Ncfe Teaching Assistant Essay
The primary objective of a teaching assistant is to support the school by carrying out a variety of tasks
in order to create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment thus allowing teachers more time
to focus on teaching. It is therefore paramount to remain flexible at all times. The purpose of this essay
is to summarise the major learning points from the Teaching Assistant Diploma Course. I will address
the nine subject areas separately.
Supporting the teacher Teachers are incredibly busy and the teaching assistant is a valued asset to
ensure that under the guidance and supervision of the teacher the classroom is organised and

The ways in which this can be done is by preparing and maintaining the learning ... Show more

Unlike physical development that is visual, a child s social and emotional development is also
generalised according to age but can t be seen. Every child is unique and for that reason although
general milestones can be used as a guide to expectation, it must be remembered that each child will
develop at his/ her own pace.
The brain development of a child can be seriously affected by their well being during the early years.
Genetic illness, social/ economic factors, culture and influence of carers, stress and harm caused by
lack of stimulation, engagement and positive relationships can all influence development.
Signs such as behavioural problems, low self esteem, apprehension, lack of concentration and
attention seeking could all be signs of emotional distress. In order to support the pupil, teaching
assistants need to have strategies to cope with pupils displaying such symptoms. Schools need to
provide a safe, positive, supporting environment with equal emphasis on pastoral care as much as
academics.
Pupils should be encouraged to strive for independence and take responsibility for their actions and
learning. This may be through input into rules, choices regarding behaviour, or identification of
success criteria and evaluation of learning.
The classroom provides opportunity for self expression in a variety of curriculum areas. The teaching
assistant should support

The Father In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
The road by Cormac McCarthy follows a boy and his father as they venture across a quiet, wet,
traitorous, post apocalyptic setting of earth. McCarthy creates the imagery of a rough, weathered west
coast as the boy and his father slowly attempt to fight their way to warmer weather as winter starts to
fall. McCarthy s, the road is terrifying yet complex and mysterious at the same time powered by
McCarthy s emotions and visions of the 2006 fight against terror in the united states.
McCarthy s inquisitive and unique style of writing is continued in this novel through the use of
grammatical errors and prolonged sentences, he does this to bend the readers mind into imagining a
long, grueling road with no breaks or ease as this closely resembles the boy and his fathers journey
throughout the novel. The development of the relationship between the father and the son also chops
and changes throughout the text. It begins with the son being very reliant on his father to take care and
nourish him with attention and knowledge The father s loving efforts to shepherd his son are made
that much more wrenching by the unavailability of food, shelter, safety, companionship or hope in
most places where they scavenge to survive, therefore the son is forced to grow ... Show more content

How Normal Has Changed Since September 11 Essay
The terrorist attacks on September 11th affected more than the lives of those in the targeted cities.
Nearly every American has felt the rippling effect in both subtle and obvious ways. Everything from
what people are eating to the toys that are in demand has been altered because people s perceptions
have changed. Though this country has always been considered a patriotic nation, its true colors had
not shown in recent history until this tragedy. Now it is apparent that its colors are red, white, and
blue. Despite the many negative aspects of the terrorist attacks, some of the changes that have
happened in America have been for the better. How ironic for our enemies it would be if their acts
meant for evil resulted in an overall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since all change, whether positive or negative, is stress, many families are having a difficult time
adjusting. However, after the kinks are ironed out, most family members are enjoying the time
together. Cathy Hansell, a mother who has not had to do traveling for her job recently, comments that
it was one of the best things that has ever happened. Her husband is also at home more, traveling 50%
less for his work, and in result, their family is experiencing much less stress than before (Guzman and
Higgins 8). The terrorist attacks instilled a fear of traveling in Americans, but brought families back
together in many ways. During these frightening times, parents have been much more likely to speak
to their kids and be a comfort to them. Where there is communication, bonding can begin.
Fear has also influenced people in unexpected ways. As one example, fantasy book series that deal
with frightening topics such as Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Events (by Lemony Snicket)
have been on the rise in recent months. They already had great momentum before September 11th, but
many people believe that they have become more important to children since the attacks. Snicket (who
s real name is Daniel Handler) suggests that children are turning to his books because traditional
books say that everything will turn out all right if you behave. But as a young child, you see your own

Airmobile Tactics During The Vietnam War Essay
Usage of Airmobile Tactics During the Vietnam War The Vietnam War was the first successful large
scale usage of rotary wing aircraft to move combat troops and equipment around the battlefield in the
history of warfare. The terrain and vegetation of the Vietnam countryside make most parts of the
country inaccessible to wheeled and tracked vehicles and using relatively inexpensive aircraft was the
best way to move troops around during that timeframe. Using helicopters, it was now possible to not
only place troops and equipment where they were most needed, but it also made a quick way to bring
back wounded troops back to the rear areas for trauma care. The 11th Air Assault Division (Test)
initially tested the concept of large scale airmobile operations and was later reflagged as the 1St
Cavalry Division (Airmobile) with assets from the 2nd Infantry Division. The 1st Cavalry initially
fielded four types of helicopters, the Bell OH 13S Sioux, Bell UH 1 Iroquois, as transport (UH 1D)
and gunship (UH 1B), and Boeing Vertol CH 47 Chinook. Each was significantly improved over time,
and each received many specialized modifications. These aircraft were used extensively in ... Show

care and states a person must receive definitive care within one hour to ensure optimal outcomes. This
simply could not have been accomplished without the extensive usage of helicopters as the primary
means of transport. Countless lives were saved because of much quicker access to health care than
ever before for a combat

The Clay Marble Essay
Having courage is a trait that helps everyone. Many people are born with courage and don t need to
learn how to gain it. In The Clay Marble by Minfong Ho, the main character, Dara, is exceedingly
scared at the beginning of the story and doesn t have much courage. Throughout the story, Dara is
forced to become brave, find her family, and get rid of her fears, ultimately demonstrating true
courage. In the beginning of the story, Dara was especially scared because of the genocide and had
trouble adapting to her new lifestyle. When Dara, her brother, Sarun, and their mother first reached the
Nong Chan refugee camp, Dara was tinged with fright, hesitation, and the lack of courage to live in a
new way. As Dara wakes up on her first full day at Nong Chan, she states, Quietly I walked over to
them [Nea (her friend) and Mom] and sat down in my mother s lap. With her warmth behind me, and
the flames in front of me, I felt snug and secure, (pg. 23 24). This supports my claim because it shows
that Dara likes to be secure. When her entire life is shaken up, she feels she needs that security back.
That security, for her, was found in her mother. At this point in the the story, Dara made no attempt to

Scientific based instruction is something that teachers use all the time in their classroom. Teachers are
consistently assessing and evaluating students performance, creating and amending individual
education plans, lesson plans, and reflecting on their practices. As teachers, we should be doing
rigorous research and building hypothesis to base further teaching practices on.
During the program that I am in now I ve learned that for evidence based practices that you must have
the access to evidences based practices, be careful with fidelity, and to check the progress of the
students. Today many teachers search websites such as google to create their lesson plans. They do
this because many teachers do not have time to sit down and look for the proper research that is
needed. These lesson plans that they are finding may not be considered an evidence based instruction
method. There are many websites that have been made for teachers which have the proper evidence
based programs that are needed for teachers. Next we have to be careful with fidelity , which refers to
accuracy or exactness to details. Teachers want to be sure that their evidence based methods have
strong outcomes from the students. It is important for teachers to not change or leave out any of the
steps in the evidence

  • 2. Homeless Organization Some people might think that the people living on the streets don t have a home because they didn t make use of opportunities while they could. Even though that may be true for some, others didn t have the best childhood and didn t have the money to go to school and be successful. I am here to give them a second chance and renew themselves. I am creating an organization to build tiny homes for the homeless. I have done some research about different tiny homes communities. There are several in the US that have wanted to house the homeless, but none have specifically wanted to create an organization and expand. One is located in Austin, Texas and they serve the homeless food with a food truck. My goal is to be able to expand from Texas and go into surrounding states as well. There are roughly 565,000 homeless people in the US that need our help, 20,000 of those are located in Texas. If you have ever been to the Dallas Fort Worth area, you have probably seen some around the streets. Texas has tons of acres of empty land that we can make these communities on and transport the homeless to these houses to get a fresh start. Speaking of the ... My solution is to spread the word about the organization by putting out flyers, maybe asking the newspaper to put an ad in, and making a website to gain awareness and to spread the word everywhere not just in our small town. Sponsors don t have to be just big companies; it can be locals who want to support us. I was thinking we should have a donation box where you can donate supplies, furniture, appliances, and even toys and clothes for the kids. Getting furniture and appliances will cut the cost of the house tremendously. The big sponsors I would love to have would be Lowe s and Home Depot. They would help us with all the supplies (wood, screws, nail, lighting, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in today s generation, the utilization of e commerce has conveniently provided consumers with the possibilities of doing so without the need to step out of their homes at any time of the day. E commerce, in a matter of few years, has successfully spread throughout different industries, one of which is tourism. In China s Chongqing, an air raid shelter was used as an experimental facility named Chaoyang Underground Granary to examine the efficiency of underground food storage. China s Chongqing has a subtropical climate long summer with an average day temperature of 35°C, thus this experiment was focused on the usefulness of underground space in warm climate region. In order to achieve a more effective experiment, husked rice was stored in an underground granary and a nearby surface level granary, both with a variation in temperature and air tightness. The result was surface granary tend to have more microbes and insects which caused the quality of rice to deteriorate, and more expenses were to spend on pesticides. In contrast, underground granary doesn t need any pesticides once its space was vacuumed by an air pump, as a vacuum space will restrict the growth of microbes and insects. These challenges are by definition wicked problems , where there is no single true answer and where design s strength lies in creatively responding to these complex interdependencies. Escalating costs of healthcare services and a shortage of personnel and facilities have put pressure on the health system to deliver more care on an outpatient basis. While tending to health needs at home has a long history and some medical devices have been used in the home for many years, we are now witnessing an increasing migration of other devices and emergent technologies into the home setting. Since 1960s, cartoons have provided numerous generations of children with a type of entertainment that filled their little minds with fantasy and imagination. Cartoons may have started out as an entertainment for children. However, since this group of audiences is at the stage of learning more complex knowledge that may be tedious to infuse into entertainment based animated shows, the scriptwriters would rather leave the academic teachings to the schools. Instead, cartoons of this genre are evidently focused on delivering moral values and encouraging friendships and family cohesiveness. Plots for these cartoon shows might feature the characters going through some distressing troubles or difficulties; however, things always turn out right in the end. SpongeBob Squarepants , a long run cartoon series from the 90s featuring SpongeBob the yellow sponge and his starfish best friend Patrick, has been undoubtedly successful in imparting valuable lessons on friendship and altruism in the minds of teenagers. For example, SpongeBob has always been portrayed as being very giving and selfless to Patrick who might sometimes seems brainless and naive; Patrick, on the other hand, though usually emotionless, becomes very sad when SpongeBob befalls some unfortunate fate, and always attempts to help him at his best efforts. • 13. Describe The Main Functions Of The Trachea The nose and the nasal cavity form the main external opening for air to come through. The air that comes through is warmed and filtered by the mucus. The mouth is the secondary external opening for the respiratory tract. It does not have the hair and sticky mucus that filter air passing through the nasal cavity but its shorter distance and bigger space allows more air to quickly enter the body. The nasal cavity is a hollow space within the nose and skull that is lined with hairs and mucus membrane. The nasal cavity warms, moisturizes, and filters air that enters the body. Hairs and mucus inside the nasal cavity also help to trap dust before it enters the body. The Feminine Mystique Summary In this chapter of The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan denounces a fundamental notion of the mystique: The role for women in the home is equal to the role of men in society. To further explain this notion, she makes use of several different rhetorical devices such as antithesis, when she establishes a connection between the dreadful physical and mental health of full time housewives plus men working on assembly lines, and she does so in order to accentuate the hidden problems of alcoholism, obesity, chronic fatigue, and lack of interest in sex due to preconceived ideas about gender roles. The internet allows this generation to communicate with each other through text messages, or social media like Facebook, and twitter. The internet provides us with all of the answers to our day to day questions; it also provides us with endless amounts of entertainment such as games, music, and movies, etc. The internet also makes living our day to day lives easier by providing us with the ability to run our businesses online and change stocks. • 20. Learning about One s Tribe in the The Way to Rainy Mountain The Way to Rainy Mountain is by no means a normal novel. It does not have the same cookie cutter formation as most books, where the plot goes from beginning to end in neat little chapters. It is not just a simple book, it is a book that has meaning, and it is a book that makes its readers think. It is a book about connections from the past. These connections are like puzzle pieces that the main character, N. Scott Momaday, has to put together in his journey to truly understand his heritage. Through the past, Momaday finds a way to honor his grandmother s memory and to connect with his Kiowa culture. This Mountain is where much happiness and contentment was felt for the Kiowas, it is where Momaday s origins began, and it is the place where tragedy struck the tribe. This tragedy came in the form of soldiers. One example of this is when the Kiowas were going to perform a ceremonial Sundance, Before the dance could begin, a company of soldiers rode out from Fort Sill under orders to disperse the tribe (Momaday 10). These soldiers ripped the Kiowas of their land and eventually placed them in reservations. This is where Momaday grew up, and this is where the barrier between the older generation and the younger generation began. This history of the Kiowa culture is a very important part of the novel because it explains where the gap between generations began, and in Momaday s point of view, it explains the gap between him and his grandmother. Momaday s grandmother was part of the last generation of the Kiowas that were in a sense traditional. Her generation experienced the true Kiowa customs and language. When Momaday s grandmother died, all he had left was her memory and the wisdom that she left embedded in his mind. Upon returning to his grandmother s house Momaday stated, Now there is a funeral silence in the rooms, the endless wake of some final word (Momaday 12). In order to correlate DNA sequence information with particular a phenotype of a trait, sequence specific molecular marker techniques have been designed. Expressed sequence tags (EST) analysis is one such type. By adopting this method, Expressed sequence tags of many animal species have been created and these sequences are subjected as putative functional genes by using advanced bioinformatics tools. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They usually exhibit simple Mendelian inheritance and codominant expression, making genetic interpretations easy. Disadvantages associated with allozymes include heterozygote deficiencies due to null (enzymatically inactive) alleles and the amount and quality of tissue samples required (Hillis et al., 1996). In addition, some changes in DNA sequence are masked at the protein level, reducing the level of detectable variation. Some changes in nucleotide sequence do not change the encoded polypeptide (silent substitutions), and some polypeptide changes do not alter the mobility of the protein in an electrophoretic gel (synonymous substitutions). Moreover, genetic variations caused by mutations are expressed as amino acid replacements due to changes in protein compositions, and are resolved as bands (alleles) on electrophoresis (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). However, other limitations developed by allozymes are highly biased genomic sampling (only genes encoding well documented, soluble proteins are detectable); a low number of markers, insufficient for examining major portions of the genome; occasional differences between tissues or ontogenetic stages; and difficulty in the standardization of experimental methods from laboratory to laboratory (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). Low levels of genetic variation revealed in many allozyme studies of animal populations prompted a continued search for markers with greater genetic resolution. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, from the years 1812 to 1824 the Republican Party was the only political party in the U.S. Due to an increasing amount of voter interest the election of 1828 saw the first presidential candidates from two separate parties. Andrew Jackson was the representative from the Democratic Party, and Henry Clay represented the Whig Party. Both Democratic and Whig parties impacted America in many ways during the 19th century, but one in particular stood out significantly amongst the other. Soon after the war of 1812, the Federalist Party collapsed, leaving just one political party in the U.S. for over a decade. It was not until the election of 1824 that there was an emergence of a second party system. As stated previously one party led by Andrew Jackson was the Democrats. The Democratic Party developed when Andrew Jackson was elected president. The democrats believed in helping the common man. They stayed out of state affairs, favored the working class, and were tolerant of immigrants. The Whig party which consisted of mainly prosperous people formed in opposition to the Democratic Party.
