Should Speed Limits Be Allowed
I feel that the regulation of speed limits is acceptable. It s safe and responsible when driving on certain
roads. Having limitations on the speed limits reduces deaths and injuries from car crashes.
Additionally, having reduced speed limits near parks and schools, protects the community and the
children living there. People should feel a sense of obligation to follow the speed limits when they
drive.
First, I feel when driving with speed limitations make it safer and responsible for drivers. Without
these limitations, it can put people at risk of car crashes. Car crashes occur every day, so imagine if
there were no speed limits at all how many crashes would occur. No one will know how fast or how
slow to go for the person ahead or behind

Lord of the Flies comparison with DNA
Although set in different periods, Lord of the Flies and DNA present similar ideas about good and evil
. How far do you agree with this view?
One of the central themes in both William Golding s Lord of the Flies and Dennis Kelly s DNA is
good and evil; both texts collectively offering a plethora of theories and ideas about the morals of
humans and how they influence their actions. In Lord of the Flies a group of British schoolboys are
stranded on an island. Far away from the influence of adults, Golding creates a pseudo civilisation in
which he examines the actions of human beings and conveys his ideas of good and evil to the reader.
Conversely, DNA focuses on a group of twenty first century teens, (still among a society) where ...

DNA was written in period of post modernism where metanarratives such as religion have declined
and society has fragmented, engendering the formation of our own beliefs and choices. This is
significant in Kelly s writing about good and evil as his ideas are often more ambiguous and inquiring
than Golding s. Additionally it enables Kelly to explore the flaws and strengths of humanity on a
wider and more open spectrum, in which he voices a cornucopia of theories and perspectives. This is
supported by the fact that Kelly wrote DNA in the style of dialectical theatre and it can be read in the
style of the playwright Brecht who focused on involving his audience in his exploration of theories.
He uses theatrical conventions such as rhetorical questions to consciously draw the audience to
comment on matters of science and the nature of humanity good and evil. In comparison to Lord of
the Flies (which offers a far more assured depiction of humanity) the role of the play is not to simply
present us a story, yet to compel audience members to question the many issues raised on our nature as
it progresses. I think this is most clearly demonstrated by Leah s monologues, which, as Phil ignores
them, seem to be implicitly directed to the audience, almost breaking the fourth wall . An example of
this is the question: Are we really that simple? Here Kelly puts Leah in the role of the chorus,
influencing audience members to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Business
2) FAMILY AND FRIENDS:
Friends and family who are supportive of the business idea provides money either directly to the
entrepreneur or into the business. Borrowing in this way can add to the stress faced by an
entrepreneur, particularly if the business gets into difficulties, also socio relations come in the picture.
ADVANTAGES:
Quicker and cheaper to arrange.
Interest and repayment terms may be more flexible than a bank loan.
Financial pressure is normally less than with a bank. You get more time to repay.
The bond you likely have with the family or friend is typically higher than the one you have with a
bank or lender.
Borrowing from a close family member or friend is the possibility that the debt is forgiven.

ADVANTAGES:
Obtaining venture capital financing can provide a startup or young business with a valuable source of
guidance and consultation.
In a number of critical areas, including legal, tax and personnel matters, a venture capital firm can
provide active support.
Faster growth and greater success are two potential key benefits of venture capital funding.
Venture capitalists are typically well connected in the business community.
DISADVANTAGES:
An Entrepreneur may lose control over its business. It is likely that your venture capitalist will want to
be involved in your business stake.
You could lose management control in your business because of the VC firm s stake in your company.
Benefits from such financing can be realized in long run only.

The Oppression Of Girls
I feel that girls encounter more obstacles and provisions, thus growing up is more difficult for them.
For one, society put a lot of emphasis on how a girl should behave and how she should look like. This
puts so much pressure on girls to conform to what society expects them to be. This often affects a girl
s self image resulting in low self esteem and insecurities.
I also feel that girls have the burden to work harder in various areas (not just in academics) to prove
that they are as capable, and that they can be as successful as the boys. In a gender biased society,
boys are often favored as the torch bearers, and girls feel the need to perform comparatively well to
prove that they are not the weaklings society viewed them to be. The

Cellular Pathophysiology
The two major hallmarks of Alzeheimer s, in terms of cellular pathology, are neuritic plaques and
neurofilbrillary tangles.
NFTs
Structure: paired helical filaments with some straight filaments
Major component: hyperphosphorylated tau protein
Tau protein is a microtubule associated protein that is normally located in the axon s microtubule
network
Adopt a somato dendritic distribution in the neuron
In pyramidal neurons they are flame shaped
In round neurons they appear round
Insoluble, resistant to clearance, persist even after the neuron dies
The pathophysiology surrounding neurofibrillary tangles and hyperphosphorylated tau is poorly
understood, but there are 2 theories as to how this works:
Tau protein aggregates trigger a stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I Am Born On The World
Introduction:
Steveland (Stevie) Hardaway Judkins was born on the 13th of May, 1950 in Saginaw Michigan (Bio,
2015). Due to being born six weeks premature, Stevie was placed in an incubator to help maintain his
breathing (Bio, 2015
Stevie Wonder, 2011). The forced oxygen caused the retinas in the back of his eyes to become
unattached, leaving Stevie permanently blind (Bio, 2015). This happened due to the growth of blood
vessels in the back of the eyes not fully developing correctly (Wikipedia, 2015).
Even though Stevie was left with no vision he began playing the harmonica at age 4, learnt to play
piano at age 6 and took up drum lessons when he was 8 years old (Bio, 2011). In 1961, Stevie had the
opportunity to sing to Ronnie White ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from being involved in many helpful campaigns and events, Stevie s music and lyrics inspired
musicians everywhere. Jackson 5, Prince, Lionel Richie and D Angelo all believed that Stevie Wonder
had a massive impact on music and song writing (Shmoop, 2015). Musicians such as the Miracles,
Ray Charles and Johnny Ace all influenced Stevie to pursue a career in the music industry (Shmoop,
2015). Even though he is blind, he has not let that stop him from doing what he wants to do. Stevie
once said Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn t mean he lacks vision (Brainy Quote,
2015).
Development:
The Tamla label offered Stevie a five year contract but made it clear that all his money would be kept
in a trust fund until he was at least 21 years old (Wikipedia, 2015). In 1962, Stevie released his first
album The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie . He then released his first recorded album, Tribute to Uncle Ray
in October, the same year (Wikipedia, 2015). When Stevie was just 12 years old he toured America
through the chitlin circuit theatres (Wikipedia, 2015). In May 1963, his performance at the Regal
Theatre in Chicago was recorded and formed into a live album, The 12 Year Old Genius (Wikipedia,
2015). A few months later, when Stevie was 13, his first number 1 hit single appeared on the Billboard
100 chart (Wikipedia, 2015).
Stevie starred in Muscle Beach Party and Bikini Beach as himself, during the year

The Importance Of The Executive Branch In The United States
The government of the United States of America has been around for over 2 centuries, in this time the
original setup has been little altered. The government is composed of three individual branches:
judicial, executive, and legislative branches. All three branches are held together using a system of
checks and balances. While each branch has some kind of trump or has control over another branch,
some branches are arguably more powerful than others. The main focus of this paper will be on where
the executive branch stands power wise. When our founding fathers first started building our nation
from the dust, they had in mind a system of branches where no one branch was more powerful than
the others. The decision of whether or not they hit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s right congress seems to have a grudge of sorts on the executive branch. This could be from a
number of things, it could be that they see the president as some annoying co worker that just deleted
their last months project, every time the president vetos. We all know this must be frusterating be
cause im sure we have all been in their place. And if congress breathing down his neck wasnt bad
enough, one of the only checks that the executive branch has can be overridden. That means that the
thing that is supposed to stope legislation from passing can be passed. Which isn t tha tbad of a thing
because if congress passes legislation which means there is aleady a majority. So when one man says

horseback and chased the animals then corner them before they kill them. It was also punishments for
those who disobeyed and broke the laws. The punishment was for peasants and if accused of poaching

Is there a role for primary prevention for patients with asymptomatic hyperuricaemia?

Gout is a very common disease in the UK, with 1 in 40 adults being affected by the condition (The
Gout Society UK 2014). The prevalence of the condition has increased in the past few decades, and
there is a greater disease burden in the more economically developed countries (Kuo et al. 2015).
Uric Acid Gout: Physiology
Gout is an arthropathy that involves the deposition of urate crystals into a joint. An acute gout attack
involves deposition of joints into a joint, resulting in a painful, swollen joint that classically affects the

2011), and these have been shown to be independent risk factors (Lin et al. 2000).
Hyperuricaemia is associated with higher all cause mortality
The classical hypothesis is that high uric acid levels lead to increased chance of crystals forming,
which then deposit in the joints. However, recent evidence has started to suggest that hyperuricaemia
itself is a risk factor for increased mortality from causes other than gout. A study carried out on
Japanese men has shown that high serum uric acid has been linked with an increased relative risk of
mortality from all causes in a study carried out on Japanese male workers (Tomita et al. 2000). An
increased mortality raises the question of whether we should routinely prescribe primary prevention
interventions in patients who are in the stage of asymptomatic hyperuricaemia.
Early studies have shown that there is no significant increase in mortality from renal failure. A
prospective study followed a cohort of 2046 initially healthy men and measured urate levels and the
incidence of a raised serum creatinine (Campion et al. 1987). They concluded that there wasn t a
significant rise in the creatinine level, and that there was no significant renal impairment caused
hyperuricaemia, supporting a conservative treatment regimen.
However, it is worth nothing that this measurement was done by correlation urate levels and creatine
levels as the baseline creatinine varies from person to person, it could be argued that this is not

Horror Films in Popular Culture Essay
The house is dark, and you think you re all alone until you hear a small creak. You hear the steps get
closer and closer, and you pray that they wont find you. The doorknob turns and the door slams open
to reveal... What? Imagine exactly what you would see. Does your heart race? Has your breathing
quickened? Are your senses heightened? Perhaps you are even intrigued as to what will happen next.
Horror film is a popular genre, but shouldn t seem to have any real appeal. Horror lures its audience
by lingering on the fears of man, manipulating emotions, affecting one s mind. Those creepy crawlies
on the big screen usually reflect the common fears of the times. These societal fears can be described
as the Horrors. In the 1960 s, the horror of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The popularity of these films prolonged through the 1970s and 1980s. Carnage and bloodbaths were
overlooked by the media since they had become conventional (Derry 164), seen in Friday the 13th (I,
II, II, and IV; 1980, 1981, 1982, and 1984) and Halloween (I, II, and III; 1978, 1981, and 1982) (Derry
164 165). Films in this period are, instead of having just random violence, punishing those who are
seen as deserving of it. The 70s and 80s had to deal with the consequences of the sexual revolution
and a record outbreak of sexually transmitted diseases, so the films of the age executed teen
promiscuity (Derry 165). Women are also a common victim, as a direct response to the feminist
movement (Derry 165). Another fear is the fear of the demonic and contains such films as The
Exorcist (1973) and The Omen (1976) (Derry 166). Personality fears say life is terrible because people
are insane, and demonic fears are that evil is present in the world (Derry 166). These films include
recurring elements: children as a view of innocence, vengeance of Satan against God, possession, and
Christian symbology which supports and depraves the Christian aspect (Derry 166). This was a
response to the cataclysm of spiritual demolition in the 1960s. Priests and nuns left the Catholic
Church, a newly elected pope in 1964, interest peaked in eastern religion, and church attendance had

People currently in the Foreign Service have said that the degree you go after doesn t really make a

test and must be able to submit a resume with past experiences. After passing that test, you are invited
to participate in the oral exam, where you have to play the role of an embassy officer and work with
your team mates to solve complex problems. It also helps to be proficient in two or more different
languages. The salary in the Foreign Service is a bit complex, people who want to go in to must
understand its limitations. It is also important to understand that Foreign Service officers live around
the world, not always in Washington D.C. and they are usually relocated every two to three years.
Relocating every so often can become quite expensive, which is why Diplomats are offered a generous
stipend or free housing overseas, this is done through a Quarter s allowance. They will provide you

Hereditary Multiple Exostoses
Hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) is a pediatric skeletal disorder which develops between birth
and 12 years of age. The disorder has an occurrence of 1 out of 50,000 children. HME is characterized
by the development of multiple benign bone tumors, referred to as exostoses, which develop
throughout the skeletal system. Tumors usually develop on the end of long bones and flat bones during
growth of the child and stop developing once the child has stopped growing (National Library of
Medicine [NLM], 2013). HME is characterized by the development of multiple tumors on bone called
osteochondromas which are composed of bony components with a cartilage cap. These tumors usually
are not malignant, or noncancerous, and occur in two different forms. The first form being a broad
based sessile osteochondroma and the second being a small based stalked osteochondroma (Ryckx et
al., 2013). These exoctoses are very painful and discomforting to the affected child and cause
functional impairment due to either compression of soft tissue or obstruction as a result of its size.
Because the tumors develop during growth, limb deformities can develop causing physical distortions
such as uneven limbs (Ham, 2013; NLM, 2013).
The number of osteochondromas and area where they occur vary between patients. Bones throughout
the whole body from the clavicle to the foot are affected. A study performed by Clement and Porter.
(2011) revealed 5361 exostoses in sites all over the body as seen in

History of Christianity and the Christian Church
1) Paul s main message was that through Jesus, God would give pardon to those who trusted and
believed him. He also believed that people can begin the process of salvation present in their own life.
He spoke of agape. This is unconditional love. He believed all of Christian concern circled around
this. Jesus s teachings are more about the life her and now. So when he talked about the Kingdom of
Heaven, he was thinking of a kingdom here on earth, while Paul thought more about a metaphorical
kingdom of people who believe. Another big difference is that Paul believed people are justification
by faith; while Jesus focused on doing things repenting, being baptized in order to be justified. Jesus
spoke to Jesus; Paul spoke to Gentiles, so the law Moses wasn t as important.
2) In the year 800, Pope Leo named Charlemagne the Holy Roman Empire. This upset the Byzantine
emperor because the Byzantines had stood up to barbarians and upheld the faith for years and they
didn t want a western Emperor over them. Things continued to get worse and in 1054, church split
into two: Rome Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Things that contributed to the schism were
the fact that the Roman Catholics tended to be in the west and the Orthodox in the east, and as time
went on language differences got in the way. Also, the west put more emphasis on Jesus s humanity
while the east focused on his divinity. Today, the churches accept each other but they cannot take

Statistical Analysis Of Poverty Level Data Report
Gallup
The 2015 Statistical Analysis Poverty Level Data report shows in the United States, there was an
increase in which families are able to provide food per person within their household. After the
devastating financial and economic crisis in 2008, families have been in financial detriment for years
trying to maintain consistency in providing food, support, and shelter. Not until the government 2015
report, there were clear evidence of a sufficient rise in food surplus in low income families since 2008.
According to the governmental statistical report, 14% of households were suffering from food
deficiency. In other words, 17.5 million households, approximate one out of every seven homes could
not provide nourishment on a regular basis. This estimate is down from the last statistical data
recorded in 2011 at 14.9%.
With that said, the United States Census Bureau published the official poverty level report of 2014 in
which 46.7 million people are living below quality standard. This alarming fact of recorded data, has
the number of poor people or people living in poverty ranked as one of the largest since the start of
publishing poverty statistics. In 2014 the poverty rate was 14.8%, which was down from 15.1%
recorded in 2010. Household cash income for families was less than half of the poverty line, or about
$10,000 a year for a family of four (World Hunger Education Service, 2016). It represented 6.6% of
all people and 44.6% of those in poverty. Among the report was

Immigrant Women And American Consumer Culture
Immigrant women were susceptible to the American consumer culture as soon as they stepped foot on
American soil. One aspect of consumer culture some immigrant women partook in was the
consumption of silent pictures, which were accessible to immigrant women who could not speak
English. Silent pictures provided immigrant women with exposure to American culture without the
necessity for understanding the English language; in this scenario pictures were louder than words.
Immigrant women also benefited from silent pictures as being a guide for assimilation into American
culture, as films displayed the American way of life. However, the first generation, the mothers would
have been resistant to the movies because they did not come from the community or the family; the
only two entities the immigrant mother trusted. Elizabeth Ewen in City Lights: Immigrant women and
the Rise of the Movies states that for the second generation of immigrant women, The price of
admission to new culture was the negation of old world notions of womanhood; needs appeared for
clothing, hairstyles, and makeup necessary to assume the external appearance of an American, for
forms of economic and sexual independence away from maternal authority. The second generation of
immigrant women sought to assimilate into American society by changing their appearance to fit with
American culture. This made the second generation immigrant woman a consumer of the latest
fashion trends that would help them blend

Examples Of Power Struggle In Frankenstein
Throughout Frankenstein, the growing strife between Victor and the monster is representative of a
class war. This strife is due to the monster and Victor s conflicting interests and results in a power
struggle between the two. This power struggle is similar to one we see in real life, between the
bourgeoisie and the working class, as they have a similar power dynamic (Wilson 116). Since the
bourgeoisie are credited with the creation of the working class and have control over many aspects of
their life, they have immense power over the workers, yet the workers have the strength in numbers to
rise up and resist the bourgeoisie. This power struggle reached a peak during the time of the Victorian
Era, including increasing strife between both the bourgeoisie and the ... Show more content on

This resentment can clearly be seen in Frankenstein, it starts with the monster resenting Victor for
creating him and creating him in a way that makes humans despise him (Shelley 85). This resentment
against Victor continues to grow, especially after Victor refuses to build a companion for the monster.
This is the brink for the monster and is when he truly begins to wage a class war upon Victor. Victor is
also resentful of the monster. Thoughts of the monster have plague Victor throughout the entire novel,
even when he was under the impression that the monster had been destroyed, during the winter after
the monster s creation (39). Victor s resentment continues to grow as the monster begins to make his
presence know in murdering Victor s family and friends. Like the workers, the monster is willing to do
anything to improve his conditions, even if it involves waging a class war upon those high up on the
social hierarchy. Considering that the monster and Victor become alienated throughout the novel, it is
clear to see that they represent a class

Regarding The Topic Of Theism, One Must Take Into...
Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or
repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite
difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of
either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to
the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further thought.
On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theism has ingrained
itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday becoming a
holy day and holidays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in order
to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to explaining the
wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain phenomenons such as miracles,
personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using it to justify science and laws of
nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any case, both modern and ancient
believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and to be aware of the realities
beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus). Indulging in theistic belief gives
more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps the common consensus of a widely
accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further solidifies these beliefs. Additionally,
several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including the argument from design and the
ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical, empirical, and moral considerations into
thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet there are corresponding rebuttals that raise
skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a
hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a pocket watch in the middle of the woods upon its
discovery, one would figure that the laws

Health Outcomes Of The World Health
More than a century ago, the first health outcome measure was proposed by Florence Nightingale by
classifying patients into relieved, unrelieved and dead (1). Other guides such as mortality rates have
historically been used to measure health outcomes at a population level (2). However, the definition of
health has changed in the past century to include a wider view of outcomes which includes freedom
from disease, ability to perform daily activities, happiness, social and emotional well being, and
quality of life. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined health as physical, mental, and
social well being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity (3). As a result numerous
measures have been developed in an attempt to quantify health. Health outcome measures are tools
used to evaluate an individuals health using different health related parameters. Patient Reported
Outcomes Measures (PROMs) are instruments that are completed by patients and capture one or more
aspects of health (4, 5). The use of PROMs formally to monitor surgical outcomes in England has
been an important development (6). Since 2007, the Department of Health has required the routine
measurement of patient reported health outcomes for all NHS patients via its PROMs programme (5,
6). PROMs are increasingly used in decision making to encourage a patient centered approach (5, 7).
For this reason, PROMs must be valid, reliable, and clinically useful measures. There are over 100
PROMs applicable

Power Struggle In Mo Yan s Red Sorghum
The novel Red Sorghum is a piece that captures the period of time in which the Japanese military
invaded and soon after occupied areas of China, including the county of Gaomi. Use of this county is
a key decision as it is also, the author, Mo Yan s home. That fact that this county is familiar to him can
be noted through the way the story is told; there are instances where the reader can note the
familiarity, authenticity, and customs of the area. This is exemplified in a passage from the fifth
chapter where the author illustrates his home of Gaomi as, largely swampy land that is flooded by
autumn rains (p.39) and the people were especially decent, strong willed, and ambitious (p. 9). At this
point and beforehand, it grows quite clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is through his use of rhetoric and storytelling does the reader realize the importance of the sorghum.
Although it is just a grass plant, by the end of the novel it becomes a character on its own. It sees the
best and worst of this period and shields those from opposing forces. These forces included the likes
of the Japanese foreign military and even fellow Chinese citizens. This period of time is one that
people experienced great amounts of conflict and chaos. However, we do see the ability for the
characters and certain people to stand together in an effort of resistance against outside forces. The
author successfully illustrates the very real struggles that ordinary people due to the chaos from the
Japanese and each other. There are also instances in which we see the author conveys the importance
of the Chinese people coming together against a common enemy. Also, we see a change in gender
expectations and behaviors through a literary figure. This can be noted through the intelligent and
untraditional heroine, Grandma. She is the epitome of liberalization and defies the image of being just
a silent and beautiful figure. Mo Yan s writing is filled with large amounts of imagery and historical

Exploring the Differences Between Idealism and Representative Realism The two differences between
idealism and representative realism are, realists believe that objects properties such as smell and taste
exist in the object but representative realists disagree and believe that these need to perceive to exist.
The second difference between idealism and representative realism is for idealists things only exist
when perceived, whereas representative realism means things exist if perceivable. Explain and

Idealists also like to use the idea that when you are in a normal experience and state your sense data
will be perfectly normal, however when you are in a hallucination experience your sense data
becomes unpredictable and irregular. An example of this can be related to the words my guitar as the
words are a convenient way of referring to a repeated pattern of sensory experiences. Despite this fact,
the argument can be seen as flawed as if you were in an hallucination it would be hard to know
whether your sensory data is irregular. In conclusion idealists distinguish between real and
hallucination experiences in a variety of ways, the key reason was, by showing us how a real
experience is connected to a past experience meaning we can t be hallucinating. Access the view that
only minds and ideas exist To access the view that only minds and ideas exist, we must look at what
the Idealists believe in relation to this. In this essay I hope to sum up the general ideas that only minds
and ideas exist. Idealists have the viewpoint that all experience we gain are of mental representations
of the real thing. This means that nothing that we see is actually real, but simply something that is
manipulated by our minds to tell us it is a certain object. Idealists also believe that there is no external
world as everything is unknowable; from this we can learn that

complicated and take weeks and even months to complete. Since some procedures like dental implants
can be considerably expensive, not all people are lucky to have fixed their teeth.

Dentures, which are removable artificial teeth, always need a fixative such as an adhesive paste or
wafers to be held in place.
Applying adhesives is generally not a pleasant experience as in addition to the bad taste the pasty
substance produces uncomfortable feeling in the mouth.
Also, the bond between gum and denture is not always secure and dentures often slip and move
around when you laugh, cough, or eat, causing you a great deal of discomfort and embarrassment in
social or public situations.
Your gums and jawbone that supports the dentures are gradually eroded over a period of time and the
device may not fit as well as it initially used to.
Denture looseness and slippage can lead to gum irritation and sores, prompting you to return to the
dentist for necessary adjustments.
If poorly fitting or worn dentures are not replaced in time, they can lead to mouth sores, infections or
problems with eating and speech.
When a new set of dentures is inserted in the mouth it may feel a little odd and cause increased
salivary secretions but these problems will diminish as your mouth gets adjusted to this

Relationship Between Crime And Criminology
INTRODUCTION
Criminology is the study of crime from a social perspective: the causes of crime, the social impact of
crime, and the criminals involved in the crime. Criminologists study criminology in an attempt to
better understand what motivates the criminal to act in a criminal manner. The criminal law is a kind
of law that controls the offense committed against society. Criminal law should be distinguished from
the civil law. For example, if someone is stealing, then the criminal law will be used to control or
manage the thief. Investigations, arrests and indictments will be made in accordance with the criminal
law. The offense is controlled by the criminal law because the offense of theft is considered as an
offense against society.

Both disciplines meet at the focus of crime, for example behavior liable to punishment. But while, one
of the primary tasks of criminal law is to be define that which is punishable under existing law,
criminology on the other hand concerns itself with the criminal acts and the human beings who
infringe the criminal code, and with the environment of these persons. This contrast is due to a certain
simplification which ignores the mutual dependence between criminal law and criminology. Even
though criminology in principle is a descriptive, empirical and non normative science, the subject of
its investigations cannot be defined without criteria that rest upon social evaluations. Empirical studies
of criminology should always be based upon the existing legal definitions of the concept of criminality
if a well defined and controllable mass of knowledge is to be obtained. This does not imply, however,
that the field of criminology can be defined simply on the basis of the legal concept of crime. This
concept is not constant from time to time from place to

Watteau s Use Of Nature In The Art Of Libertarianism
Through about 1710 1750, the Rococo era of art flourished throughout France and soon made its way
through the rest of Europe. The word Rococo comes from the combined words of barocco , a
Portuguese word meaning over the top, and the French word racaille meaning shells. (Barrett)
Emerging from France during the rule of Louis XV, Rococo art was distinguished by its portrayal of
aristocratic standards and principles. Because the genre grew in a time of libertarianism, Rococo art
initiated the approval of sensuality and this was depicted through its use of nature. The role of nature
in Rococo art represents the cultural freedom of France and other various meanings. Jean Antoine

Watteau paints a scene of people dancing, socializing, and becoming intimate with one another.
Everyone in the painting is basking in play and leisure and this type of behavior implies that
embracing in pleasure is natural. Since the pilgrims are one with nature, their sensuality is validated
and approved. This carefree type of mentality is shown within nature s setting; therefore, pleasure is
accepted and is considered natural. Another example of nature displaying the approval of sensuality is
in Watteau s painting, La Fete D Amour (The Feast of Love), 1719. In Watteau s painting, we see that
the main focal point is intimacy in a natural environment. Again, Watteau is depicting a scene of
aristocrats leisurely socializing in an open and succulent setting. Although there is a stronger sense of
sexual intimacy shown through the closeness of the couples, because of Watteau s use of nature in the
scene, it is seen as natural and acceptable. In Suzanne Folds article, A Study for La Fete D Amour by
Antoine Watteau 1684 1721 , she explains how the nature in the scene captures the effects of the
painting. She

Title
A study of the effect of bribery and corruption with lack of censorship in the governmental institution
There are various reasons why corruption takes place and takes hold. Sometimes it is due to the fact
that officials are simply not paid very much and so they need to supplement their salaries with money
from bribes. Sometimes the bureaucratic system is set up in such a way that officials simply refuse to
carry out their duties unless they are encouraged by being offered bribes. In other cases it is actually
part of the tradition and culture of a country to give and receive gifts in order to get anything done. In
some cases companies from less corrupt countries allegedly engage in bribery in order ... Show more

Mostly, corruption occurs in environments where it is tolerated and where the temptation is too strong
to resist. In the following paragraph there are some examples of how bribes take place in each and
every one of them. The enormous scale of grand corruption in Peru was revealed in 2000 by
discoveries leading to the resignation and self exile of the president, Alberto Fujimori. Video taped
evidence showed that Vladimir Montesano s, Fujimori s spy chief, had repeatedly bribed congressmen
to defect to Fujimori s party to ensure its majority in congress. In addition, large bribes had enabled
Montesano s to control most of the media and influence the judiciary. However, Fujimori is credited
with having reduced petty corruption. His administration pursued policies reducing the role of
government, which he justified not only on efficiency grounds, but on the grounds that reducing the
role of government would reduce opportunities for corruption. He attempted to reduce corruption in
the police and municipal governments, in the latter case by establishing a supervisory agency to field
citizen complaints. However, his reforms of the judiciary are thought to have made it more corrupt.
Despite some progress, however, several institutions with which ordinary people have much contact
were judged to be corrupt by Transparency International in a November 2001 report. ast week did not

Feminism in Lysistrata
Name Institution Instructor Date of submission Feminism in Ancient Greek Culture from the
Perspective of Lysistrata Lysistrata is portrayed as a hero by Aristophanes and just as Antigone had
played a social role in politics, so is Lysistrata portrayed. Most ancient Greek writers were people who
had established themselves in the society. They were people of class, and when they wrote about
women, they mostly wrote about women from their own social class. Women were shown to
participate only in the domestic roles of childbearing and that saw many women confined to their
houses. They rarely ventured out of the proximity of their domestic dwellings, let alone participate in
manly politics. Lysistrata, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lysistrata has challenged male authority in a bold way. This is a complete turnaround from the place
in which Greek women were said to hold in their society. In this case, women stereotypes are proven
wrong as women are shown as the opposite of being submissive and flaccid, the opposite is true as
women are shown to be defiant. Women in Greece were never allowed to go out into the public and
public spaces were often referred to as the male s domain. Being out in the public was a privilege only
delegated to men in ancient Greece. The act of Lysistrata standing out in the open and urging women
to denounce their traditions and instead become active politically is in itself an act of defiance. This
saw women enter the realm of masculinity, which is the best display of feminism. Lysistrata showed
that a woman was worthy of venturing out in the public just as their men did. The public space no
longer belonged to the men, but to women as well. Lysistrata even goes as far as holding rallies and
performing ritualistic activities out in the open for all to see. Lysistrata formulates a plan in which,
women take the Treasury of the city of Athens as hostage. They barricade the gates and bar men from
entering the city. Lysistrata claimed that a lot of money is being used to fund the war, but without the
money, the men would eventually surrender to their demand to end the war. Women in ancient Greece

The Definition Of A Hero In Beowulf
Hero, a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
As well as a person who in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, bravery,
or strength often sacrificing their own personal concerns for a greater good. While there is a basic
definition for hero, people may have different ideas of what it means to be a hero. While we tend to
favorite the idea of a well dressed superhuman like Superman or Captain America. A hero can be a
firefighter, a man in spandex and a cape, a Geatish warrior, legendary knight and king, or a protective
archangel. All of them have the basic underlying definition previously stated. Now that we have
covered the basics of a hero and established a somewhat simple definition for it. I would like to go
back to heroes of British literature and discuss the popularized definition of them have changed over
time.
First, I would like to start with Beowulf, a heroic epic about an a Geatish warrior during the Anglo
Saxon times. Beowulf is respected and could even be called a legend in some places. He fights in the
name of his king and for his men. He even goes out of his way to help other kings and kingdoms.
Beowulf goes through the whole heroic journey. He fights of powerful and magical monsters such as
Grendel, a demonic man eating outcast. Grendel is not Beowulf s or his king s problem. However, he
goes out of his way to protect others, even when they question his strength and courage.

Analysis Of The Book Julius Caesar With My Class
Recently I have gotten the chance to read the book play, Julius Caesar with my
class. Although it s hard to understand at times, and it s long and boring. I ve learned a

one of the things I learned. This one thing I learned is going to be the main point of my
paper, with extras around it, that one thing is What is a roman tribune? and Why are
Marullus and Flavius, worried about Caesar? This play is full of twist and turns, by the
end of this paper, you will have an answer to both the questions.
In this play there are several different types of Roman Tribunes, some that hold
higher powers than others. One of the highest tribunes is Brutus, then there s
Cassius, and several more. I named these two mainly because they play a huge part in
this play. They are one of few that actually hold some type of power in the play, and their
close to one of the highest powers there is. This higher power you might ask? Goes by
the name of Julius Caesar.

and human health illness experiences that are mediated by professional, personal, scientific, esthetic,
and ethical human care transactions (George, 1990). Instead of defining fourth concept of nursing
metaparadigm, environment, Watson formulated that caring exists in all societies and is passed by the
profession as a unique way of coping with the environment (McEwen Willis, 2007).
Watson believed that the main focus in nursing is on carative factors which are derived from a
humanistic perspective combined with a scientific knowledge base (George, 1990). Seven

Effects of ligand produced after a characteristic lag period of 30 mins to several hours  This is the
time required for synthesis of new proteins  Hence gene active hormones cannot be expected to alter
a pathologic state within minutes 2. Effects of these agents can persist for hours or days after agonist
concentration in the body has been reduced to zero  Main Reason: Relatively slow turnover of most
enzymes proteins ⇒ They can remain in cells for hours or days after synthesis  Partially due to high
affinity of receptors for hormone ⇒ Slow dissociation of hormone (2) Ligand Regulated
Transmembrane Enzymes  Receptors are polypeptides Consist of: 1. Extracellular ligand binding
site 2. Cytoplasmic enzyme/ catalyic domain.   The cytoplasmic enzyme/ catalytic domain may
be: › Tyrosine kinase › Serine Kinase › Guanylyl cyclase  Agonist binds to receptor s extracellular
domain  Change in receptor conformation  Two receptor polypeptides bind together (Inactive
monomeric state is converted to an active dimeric state)  Tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic
domains become phosphorylated  Tyrosine kinase is activated  Binding phosphorylation of SH2

Essay On Scientific Method
The Usefulness of the Scientific Method The development of the scientific method in the late 1500 s
to the early 1600 s was a crucial stepping stone in the science community. The scientific method is
based upon observations, hypotheses and experimentation. The concept is rather simple, and can be
applied to many areas of study. Once an observation is made, the observer can make a hypothesis as to
why that phenomenon occurs and can then design an experiment to prove whether or not that
hypotheses is valid. Although the scientific method has been extremely useful in the discovery of
various things from usages of medications to studying animal behavior, there are still those who
question the usage of this tool. These critics claim that since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are several disease that are we still do not know much about despite copious amounts of
research. Cancer and Alzheimer s are two major examples of these mysterious diseases. Although the
scientific method is useful in the development and research on various medications and treatments,
there are still limitations. Patients react to treatments in various ways, because bodies and systems
vary from person to person. There is simply too many variable to be able to pinpoint the exact reaction
a patient may have. Clinical trials and studies can narrow down these reactions down to a list of
possible side effects, but doctors can never know for sure how a patient will respond. There are many
unknowns and treating actual patients is much different that conducting an experiment investigating
how two medications will effect an experimental unit. During a designed experiment, the
experimenter can control all the variables except for the experimental variable and get clear
straightforward results. On the other hand, when treating a real patient with a severe illness, such as
cancer, the physician has to keep an eye on all body systems. They cannot simple give all of their
attention to the area of the body that is currently affected. In these practical settings, there is simply
too many variables for the scientific method to be as useful as it normally

Act 1 Rita Essay
The transformed character of Rita in Act 2 Scene 1 is unrecognisable from the comedic character
presented to us in Act 1 Scene 1 . To what extent do you agree with this statement. Refer closely to
Russell s use of Comedic anf Dramatic Devices. (You must reference to all AOs).
Although Rita acknowledges that being smart is important, she shows that her change in the play is
not just learning, but through her personality too. Her education helps her overcome her working class
background and for her not to follow the rold of a traditonal woman in the 1970 s. Education
completely changes Rita and effects her life enormously.
One of the greatest changes we see in Rita is the language she uses as the play progresses. In Act 1
Scene 1, the language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Education was not important because women were expected to leave school and become a typical
housewife. This is presented at the end of the first Act when Frank suggests that Rita finds another
tutor and she replies with ...an you re gonna bleedin well teach me . This is very comedic as the words
she uses contrasts greatly with the acendemic and privilidged surroundings she is currently within. In
this Act, her language also contrasts with Frank s. Frank is presented as a well educated, middle class
university professor who s language is much more refined. An example of this is when Rita tells Frank
she s Off his cake , even Frank, a very experienced university tutor does not understand this figure of
speech. This adds humour to the scene as it reveals to the audience just how much educating Rita is
going to need. Rita s language also consists of lots of swearing due to her feeling nervous and because
she lacks confidence which allows the audience to empathise with her as she hasn t recieved the
education in which Frank once had. Her taboo language is consistant through the first scene, such as
when she sees the painting in Franks room and says Look at those tits , the first time she meets her
professor. This

The Spaniard Revolt
During the time of the Spaniard rule, the Indians were subjugated to not only the crown s law but also
to the Spaniards religion. From the time that the Spaniards landed until the time Pueblo s revolt took
place the Indians were treated terribly. They were not only made into slaves but they were starved, and
treated with violence when the Spaniard friars began to convert the Indians to Christianity. Spain
wanted to become rich off American land but they also had another goal, to convert the Indians
religion. Because the Spaniards made the Indians into slaves, and believed them barbaric in their
religion, they did not see the Indians as equal and were treated horribly; until, Las Casas began to
write letters of the events and Popé became the leader of the Pueblo revolt.
The Spaniards that went to the new world were to convert the Indians to Christianity. The Spaniard
missionaries gave the Indians no choice but to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Indians that were under oppression from the Franciscan friars were infuriated and resented the
friars for the maltreatment of trying to convert them into obedient Christian subjects of the crown
(Foner, 2014, p. 25). However, they did not have a leader until Popé. Popé was whipped in public and
after this occurrence; he began holding secret meetings in Pueblo communities (Foner, 2014, p. 34).
Eventually the Indians rise up in 1680 with Popé as their leader. The revolt was a success and the
Spaniards left along with some of the converted Indians. When the Spaniards left the Indians
destroyed all the symbols that referred to the Spaniards. They uprooted fruit trees, destroyed cattle,
burned churches and images of Christ and the Virgin Mary... the God of the Spaniards , they shouted,
is dead ( Foner, 2014, p. 34). With the Spaniards gone, the Indians were no longer subjected to the

Culture Is Unique And Unparalleled
Culture is the establishment on which somebody bases his or her life. It is the world around us and
what we do within it. It is part of the identity that describes us, the experiences that make us, us.
Individuals originate from an ethnic foundation all around the globe. In this paper, I will clarify the
genuine importance of culture, state different culture s people practice and provide a few examples
from the movie Namesake.
Every culture is unique. Over the years, it is noticeable that culture has been declining in many
countries. Individuals ethical qualities are underneath typical societal principles which is the reason
the more established eras are insulted by the way things are presently and feel exasperates towards
society. However, in India culture still runs strong. India s astounding diversity of culture is unique
and unparalleled. Hinduism is the religion of the larger part of individuals in India. Their religion is
intensely rehearsed and enforced. Praying and family values are extremely important prices of Indian
culture. They pray to multiple gods and goddesses and fast on certain religious holidays. Fasting is a
kind of ritual meant to purify the body and the mind and build up the nature of separation and
composure. Faithful Hindus observe fasting in uncommon events as a sign of admiration to their own
divine beings. In an Indian culture, after a person dies, it is considered impure to touch its body. After
the individual is dead the relatives wears all

Their behaviour towards the individuals was inhumane as they were making them think constantly
about their faults and to do hard and exhausting activities. Such as tread wheel or picking oakum. In
these activities they were isolating strands of ropes. Anyone who had cash, could purchase better food,

However, it seems that the physical and mental labour in Victorian Prisons never stop, they found new
ways to punish the offenders. As Beaken (2013) states in his recent article, the amount and the kind of
food that the individuals were eating it was one of their plenty punishments. He discovered that the
detainees were eating one pound of bread per day and for dinner they were eating two pounds of
potatoes or a half a pound of boiled rice with treacle. It was impossible to find someone who was
eating meat as they did not give this kind of food. He claims that this diet led to sickness and death.
After they saw that many individuals died, they start to providing meat twice a week. They were
having different portions of each one of the persons according to the crime that they committed. For
instance, individuals who were in solitary confinement for prison offences they were eating just a
single pound of bread every day. Then again, individuals who not sentenced to hard labour and their

Social Control through Works of Fiction
Vampire stories have universal themes that provide the backbone for every dark tale. The unholy
essence that any vampire story provides sets the stage for the message that the Church is the way of
life and will save you from creatures of evil. From in class readings, we can see all the major religious
themes of the classic vampire story. The common religious theme is the abscess of light is the absence
of holiness and is the path to eternal damnation. Darkness is the prime universal fear of humanity
mostly because we, as a species, are not nocturnal creatures; therefore, we have developed a fear of
the predator filled darkness of night. Using figurative descriptions of darkness as the enemy, the
Church preaches the way of the light. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cross burned into his flesh like a hot coal. He snatched back his hand but the burning metal clung.
He felt the heat of it coursing up his arm, and hurled it savagely across the room (Miller). This burning
sensation that the cross gives vampires is the Churches connection and reminder that someone or
something that does not follow the way of the cross will be burned eternally in Hell. Vampire
protection is the Church s way of creating fear that will ultimately lead to the fearful turning back to
the Church for protection and guidance. With the turn of sexual culture in the Victorian Era, Church
leaders needed to establish a way to regain a tight grip on society as a whole.
Comparable themes in vampire stories and Biblical stories are evident within the class readings. The
story of Shambleau by Catherine L. Moore begins with a mob on the hunt for a creature by the name
of Shambleau, only to be confronted by a man by the name of Northwest Smith who is opposed to
giving Shambleau up to the crowd. This confrontation of an angry crowd show striking resemblance
to the story of Jesus Christ and Pontius Pilate whereas an angry mob demanded the governor Pontius
Pilate to give up Jesus to be crucified just as the angry mob in Shambleau wanted Shambleau to be
given up to the crowd. He let loose a deep throated bellow, Shambleau! and lunged forward. Behind
him the mob took up the cry again. Shambleau! Shambleau! Shambleau! and surged after

Technology And Its Effects On Society Essay
The world we live in is constantly changing and we often look back to see what have changed and
whether it has done so for the better or for the worse. We learned from our past that there are several
factors affecting the change we experience and some examples include natural, political, societal,
economic, and technological factors. Particularly the technological one as it can be linked back to the
others, and we can discover even more interdependencies when we try dissecting it and classify the
components into different types of technology. If we attempt to illustrate the dependencies and
interdependencies of all kinds of technology and its derivatives and join them with lines, we might be
even more confused than when we have started. People in the past have relied very much on nature to
sustain their livelihood; we made use of the environment around us and began our agricultural and
pastoral activities as well as hunting and gathering. As time progresses, we came up with contraptions
to aid our farming, rearing, and hunting activities, successfully reducing the manpower needed and at
the same time increasing productivity. One example would be the evolution of the irrigation practices;
from simple water diversion technique to the timed sprinklers we have today. These sprinklers are not
only used in agriculture, but in golf courses, gardens and even in our backyards as well. It is
interesting how the product of an idea originally intended to assist in our livelihood can be

Conflicts over Religion
How did religious conflicts influence colonization?
Another chief source of conflict was religion. The Protestant Reformation challenged the authority of
the Roman Catholic Church, and Catholics and Protestants struggled for religious, economic, and
political power. Alliances changed when new rulers assumed power; for instance, a country that was
officially Protestant one day could become Catholic the next. Likewise, countries that were allies one
day could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catholics and Protestants used any means possible to conquer and convert each other, including laws,
taxes, threats, torture, imprisonment, and war. Jews in Europe were typically tolerated but forced to
live in ghettos, isolated from Christian communities. Anyone who dissented from the established
religion had a good reason to leave. To members of a persecuted group who wanted to live in a
community of like minded people, the New World must have been very tempting.
Roanoke: First English Colony in North America
The story of Roanoke, the first English colony in North America, shows some of the ways in which
political, economic, and religious competition affected colonization. In 1585, Queen Elizabeth I of
England agreed to support the Dutch against the Spanish. She gave a charter of land to an English
noble, Sir Walter Raleigh, to establish a colony. This colony would supply the English warships that
would fight the Spanish.
However, the plan failed when colonists discovered the warships could not navigate the Roanoke
harbor s shallow waters. The expedition left more than 100 settlers to establish the colony. England
left these colonists alone for three years while it fought against Spain. When a supply ship finally
arrived, the Roanoke Colony was deserted. To this day, nobody knows what happened to the Roanoke

  • 2. Should Speed Limits Be Allowed I feel that the regulation of speed limits is acceptable. It s safe and responsible when driving on certain roads. Having limitations on the speed limits reduces deaths and injuries from car crashes. Additionally, having reduced speed limits near parks and schools, protects the community and the children living there. People should feel a sense of obligation to follow the speed limits when they drive. First, I feel when driving with speed limitations make it safer and responsible for drivers. Without these limitations, it can put people at risk of car crashes. Car crashes occur every day, so imagine if there were no speed limits at all how many crashes would occur. • 3. Lord of the Flies comparison with DNA Although set in different periods, Lord of the Flies and DNA present similar ideas about good and evil . How far do you agree with this view? One of the central themes in both William Golding s Lord of the Flies and Dennis Kelly s DNA is good and evil; both texts collectively offering a plethora of theories and ideas about the morals of humans and how they influence their actions. In Lord of the Flies a group of British schoolboys are stranded on an island. Far away from the influence of adults, Golding creates a pseudo civilisation in which he examines the actions of human beings and conveys his ideas of good and evil to the reader. Conversely, DNA focuses on a group of twenty first century teens, (still among a society) where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DNA was written in period of post modernism where metanarratives such as religion have declined and society has fragmented, engendering the formation of our own beliefs and choices. This is significant in Kelly s writing about good and evil as his ideas are often more ambiguous and inquiring than Golding s. Additionally it enables Kelly to explore the flaws and strengths of humanity on a wider and more open spectrum, in which he voices a cornucopia of theories and perspectives. This is supported by the fact that Kelly wrote DNA in the style of dialectical theatre and it can be read in the style of the playwright Brecht who focused on involving his audience in his exploration of theories. He uses theatrical conventions such as rhetorical questions to consciously draw the audience to comment on matters of science and the nature of humanity good and evil. In comparison to Lord of the Flies (which offers a far more assured depiction of humanity) the role of the play is not to simply present us a story, yet to compel audience members to question the many issues raised on our nature as it progresses. I think this is most clearly demonstrated by Leah s monologues, which, as Phil ignores them, seem to be implicitly directed to the audience, almost breaking the fourth wall . An example of this is the question: Are we really that simple? Here Kelly puts Leah in the role of the chorus, influencing audience members to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Oppression Of Girls I feel that girls encounter more obstacles and provisions, thus growing up is more difficult for them. For one, society put a lot of emphasis on how a girl should behave and how she should look like. This puts so much pressure on girls to conform to what society expects them to be. This often affects a girl s self image resulting in low self esteem and insecurities. I also feel that girls have the burden to work harder in various areas (not just in academics) to prove that they are as capable, and that they can be as successful as the boys. In a gender biased society, boys are often favored as the torch bearers, and girls feel the need to perform comparatively well to prove that they are not the weaklings society viewed them to be. While each branch has some kind of trump or has control over another branch, some branches are arguably more powerful than others. Hyperuricaemia is associated with higher all cause mortality The classical hypothesis is that high uric acid levels lead to increased chance of crystals forming, which then deposit in the joints. However, recent evidence has started to suggest that hyperuricaemia itself is a risk factor for increased mortality from causes other than gout. A study carried out on Japanese men has shown that high serum uric acid has been linked with an increased relative risk of mortality from all causes in a study carried out on Japanese male workers (Tomita et al. 2000). An increased mortality raises the question of whether we should routinely prescribe primary prevention interventions in patients who are in the stage of asymptomatic hyperuricaemia. Early studies have shown that there is no significant increase in mortality from renal failure. A prospective study followed a cohort of 2046 initially healthy men and measured urate levels and the incidence of a raised serum creatinine (Campion et al. 1987). They concluded that there wasn t a significant rise in the creatinine level, and that there was no significant renal impairment caused hyperuricaemia, supporting a conservative treatment regimen. However, it is worth nothing that this measurement was done by correlation urate levels and creatine levels as the baseline creatinine varies from person to person, it could be argued that this is not ... Films in this period are, instead of having just random violence, punishing those who are seen as deserving of it. The 70s and 80s had to deal with the consequences of the sexual revolution and a record outbreak of sexually transmitted diseases, so the films of the age executed teen promiscuity (Derry 165). Women are also a common victim, as a direct response to the feminist movement (Derry 165). Another fear is the fear of the demonic and contains such films as The Exorcist (1973) and The Omen (1976) (Derry 166). Personality fears say life is terrible because people are insane, and demonic fears are that evil is present in the world (Derry 166). These films include recurring elements: children as a view of innocence, vengeance of Satan against God, possession, and Christian symbology which supports and depraves the Christian aspect (Derry 166). • 13. Hereditary Multiple Exostoses Hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) is a pediatric skeletal disorder which develops between birth and 12 years of age. The disorder has an occurrence of 1 out of 50,000 children. HME is characterized by the development of multiple benign bone tumors, referred to as exostoses, which develop throughout the skeletal system. Tumors usually develop on the end of long bones and flat bones during growth of the child and stop developing once the child has stopped growing (National Library of Medicine [NLM], 2013). HME is characterized by the development of multiple tumors on bone called osteochondromas which are composed of bony components with a cartilage cap. These tumors usually are not malignant, or noncancerous, and occur in two different forms. The first form being a broad based sessile osteochondroma and the second being a small based stalked osteochondroma (Ryckx et al., 2013). These exoctoses are very painful and discomforting to the affected child and cause functional impairment due to either compression of soft tissue or obstruction as a result of its size. Because the tumors develop during growth, limb deformities can develop causing physical distortions such as uneven limbs (Ham, 2013; NLM, 2013). The number of osteochondromas and area where they occur vary between patients. Bones throughout the whole body from the clavicle to the foot are affected. A study performed by Clement and Porter. • 14. History of Christianity and the Christian Church 1) Paul s main message was that through Jesus, God would give pardon to those who trusted and believed him. He also believed that people can begin the process of salvation present in their own life. He spoke of agape. This is unconditional love. He believed all of Christian concern circled around this. Jesus s teachings are more about the life her and now. So when he talked about the Kingdom of Heaven, he was thinking of a kingdom here on earth, while Paul thought more about a metaphorical kingdom of people who believe. Another big difference is that Paul believed people are justification by faith; while Jesus focused on doing things repenting, being baptized in order to be justified. Jesus spoke to Jesus; Paul spoke to Gentiles, so the law Moses wasn t as important. 2) In the year 800, Pope Leo named Charlemagne the Holy Roman Empire. This upset the Byzantine emperor because the Byzantines had stood up to barbarians and upheld the faith for years and they didn t want a western Emperor over them. Things continued to get worse and in 1054, church split into two: Rome Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Things that contributed to the schism were the fact that the Roman Catholics tended to be in the west and the Orthodox in the east, and as time went on language differences got in the way. One aspect of consumer culture some immigrant women partook in was the consumption of silent pictures, which were accessible to immigrant women who could not speak English. Silent pictures provided immigrant women with exposure to American culture without the necessity for understanding the English language; in this scenario pictures were louder than words. Immigrant women also benefited from silent pictures as being a guide for assimilation into American culture, as films displayed the American way of life. However, the first generation, the mothers would have been resistant to the movies because they did not come from the community or the family; the only two entities the immigrant mother trusted. This strife is due to the monster and Victor s conflicting interests and results in a power struggle between the two. This power struggle is similar to one we see in real life, between the bourgeoisie and the working class, as they have a similar power dynamic (Wilson 116). Since the bourgeoisie are credited with the creation of the working class and have control over many aspects of their life, they have immense power over the workers, yet the workers have the strength in numbers to rise up and resist the bourgeoisie. Victor s resentment continues to grow as the monster begins to make his presence know in murdering Victor s family and friends. Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further thought. On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theism has ingrained itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday becoming a holy day and holidays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in order to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to explaining the wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain phenomenons such as miracles, personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using it to justify science and laws of nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any case, both modern and ancient believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and to be aware of the realities beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus). Indulging in theistic belief gives more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps the common consensus of a widely accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further solidifies these beliefs. Additionally, several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including the argument from design and the ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical, empirical, and moral considerations into thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet there are corresponding rebuttals that raise skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a pocket watch in the middle of the woods upon its discovery, one would figure that the laws ... • 21. Health Outcomes Of The World Health More than a century ago, the first health outcome measure was proposed by Florence Nightingale by classifying patients into relieved, unrelieved and dead (1). Other guides such as mortality rates have historically been used to measure health outcomes at a population level (2). However, the definition of health has changed in the past century to include a wider view of outcomes which includes freedom from disease, ability to perform daily activities, happiness, social and emotional well being, and quality of life. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined health as physical, mental, and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity (3). As a result numerous measures have been developed in an attempt to quantify health. Health outcome measures are tools used to evaluate an individuals health using different health related parameters. Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs) are instruments that are completed by patients and capture one or more aspects of health (4, 5). The use of PROMs formally to monitor surgical outcomes in England has been an important development (6). Since 2007, the Department of Health has required the routine measurement of patient reported health outcomes for all NHS patients via its PROMs programme (5, 6). PROMs are increasingly used in decision making to encourage a patient centered approach (5, 7). For this reason, PROMs must be valid, reliable, and clinically useful measures. Power Struggle In Mo Yan s Red Sorghum The novel Red Sorghum is a piece that captures the period of time in which the Japanese military invaded and soon after occupied areas of China, including the county of Gaomi. Use of this county is a key decision as it is also, the author, Mo Yan s home. That fact that this county is familiar to him can be noted through the way the story is told; there are instances where the reader can note the familiarity, authenticity, and customs of the area. This is exemplified in a passage from the fifth chapter where the author illustrates his home of Gaomi as, largely swampy land that is flooded by autumn rains (p.39) and the people were especially decent, strong willed, and ambitious (p. 9). Exploring the Differences Between Idealism and Representative Realism The two differences between idealism and representative realism are, realists believe that objects properties such as smell and taste exist in the object but representative realists disagree and believe that these need to perceive to exist. The second difference between idealism and representative realism is for idealists things only exist when perceived, whereas representative realism means things exist if perceivable. Idealists also like to use the idea that when you are in a normal experience and state your sense data will be perfectly normal, however when you are in a hallucination experience your sense data becomes unpredictable and irregular. Despite this fact, the argument can be seen as flawed as if you were in an hallucination it would be hard to know whether your sensory data is irregular. In conclusion idealists distinguish between real and hallucination experiences in a variety of ways, the key reason was, by showing us how a real experience is connected to a past experience meaning we can t be hallucinating. Relationship Between Crime And Criminology INTRODUCTION Criminology is the study of crime from a social perspective: the causes of crime, the social impact of crime, and the criminals involved in the crime. Criminologists study criminology in an attempt to better understand what motivates the criminal to act in a criminal manner. The criminal law is a kind of law that controls the offense committed against society. Criminal law should be distinguished from the civil law. For example, if someone is stealing, then the criminal law will be used to control or manage the thief. Investigations, arrests and indictments will be made in accordance with the criminal law. The word Rococo comes from the combined words of barocco , a Portuguese word meaning over the top, and the French word racaille meaning shells. (Barrett) Emerging from France during the rule of Louis XV, Rococo art was distinguished by its portrayal of aristocratic standards and principles. Because the genre grew in a time of libertarianism, Rococo art initiated the approval of sensuality and this was depicted through its use of nature. Since the pilgrims are one with nature, their sensuality is validated and approved. This carefree type of mentality is shown within nature s setting; therefore, pleasure is accepted and is considered natural. Another example of nature displaying the approval of sensuality is in Watteau s painting, La Fete D Amour (The Feast of Love), 1719. In Watteau s painting, we see that the main focal point is intimacy in a natural environment. Again, Watteau is depicting a scene of aristocrats leisurely socializing in an open and succulent setting. Watson has background in psychiatric mental health nursing and received her doctorate degree in education psychology and counseling in Colorado, 1973. Related to nursing metaparadigm, Watson defined human being as a valued person to be cared for, respected, nurtured, understood, and assisted; health as the unity and harmony within the mind, body, and soul associated with the degree of congruence between the self as perceived and the self as experienced; and nursing as a human science of persons and human health illness experiences that are mediated by professional, personal, scientific, esthetic, and ethical human care transactions (George, 1990). • 41. Essay On Scientific Method The Usefulness of the Scientific Method The development of the scientific method in the late 1500 s to the early 1600 s was a crucial stepping stone in the science community. The scientific method is based upon observations, hypotheses and experimentation. The concept is rather simple, and can be applied to many areas of study. Once an observation is made, the observer can make a hypothesis as to why that phenomenon occurs and can then design an experiment to prove whether or not that hypotheses is valid. Although the scientific method has been extremely useful in the discovery of various things from usages of medications to studying animal behavior, there are still those who question the usage of this tool. These critics claim that since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several disease that are we still do not know much about despite copious amounts of research. Cancer and Alzheimer s are two major examples of these mysterious diseases. Although the scientific method is useful in the development and research on various medications and treatments, there are still limitations. Patients react to treatments in various ways, because bodies and systems vary from person to person. There is simply too many variable to be able to pinpoint the exact reaction a patient may have. Clinical trials and studies can narrow down these reactions down to a list of possible side effects, but doctors can never know for sure how a patient will respond. There are many unknowns and treating actual patients is much different that conducting an experiment investigating how two medications will effect an experimental unit. During a designed experiment, the experimenter can control all the variables except for the experimental variable and get clear straightforward results. On the other hand, when treating a real patient with a severe illness, such as cancer, the physician has to keep an eye on all body systems. They cannot simple give all of their attention to the area of the body that is currently affected. In these practical settings, there is simply too many variables for the scientific method to be as useful as it normally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To what extent do you agree with this statement. Refer closely to Russell s use of Comedic anf Dramatic Devices. (You must reference to all AOs). Although Rita acknowledges that being smart is important, she shows that her change in the play is not just learning, but through her personality too. Her education helps her overcome her working class background and for her not to follow the rold of a traditonal woman in the 1970 s. Education completely changes Rita and effects her life enormously. One of the greatest changes we see in Rita is the language she uses as the play progresses. In Act 1 Scene 1, the language ... This is presented at the end of the first Act when Frank suggests that Rita finds another tutor and she replies with ...an you re gonna bleedin well teach me . This is very comedic as the words she uses contrasts greatly with the acendemic and privilidged surroundings she is currently within. In this Act, her language also contrasts with Frank s. Frank is presented as a well educated, middle class university professor who s language is much more refined. An example of this is when Rita tells Frank she s Off his cake , even Frank, a very experienced university tutor does not understand this figure of speech. This adds humour to the scene as it reveals to the audience just how much educating Rita is going to need. Rita s language also consists of lots of swearing due to her feeling nervous and because she lacks confidence which allows the audience to empathise with her as she hasn t recieved the education in which Frank once had. Her taboo language is consistant through the first scene, such as when she sees the painting in Franks room and says Look at those tits , the first time she meets her professor. This ... The unholy essence that any vampire story provides sets the stage for the message that the Church is the way of life and will save you from creatures of evil. From in class readings, we can see all the major religious themes of the classic vampire story. The common religious theme is the abscess of light is the absence of holiness and is the path to eternal damnation. Darkness is the prime universal fear of humanity mostly because we, as a species, are not nocturnal creatures; therefore, we have developed a fear of the predator filled darkness of night. He snatched back his hand but the burning metal clung. He felt the heat of it coursing up his arm, and hurled it savagely across the room (Miller). This burning sensation that the cross gives vampires is the Churches connection and reminder that someone or something that does not follow the way of the cross will be burned eternally in Hell. Vampire protection is the Church s way of creating fear that will ultimately lead to the fearful turning back to the Church for protection and guidance. With the turn of sexual culture in the Victorian Era, Church leaders needed to establish a way to regain a tight grip on society as a whole. Comparable themes in vampire stories and Biblical stories are evident within the class readings. The story of Shambleau by Catherine L. • 49. Technology And Its Effects On Society Essay The world we live in is constantly changing and we often look back to see what have changed and whether it has done so for the better or for the worse. We learned from our past that there are several factors affecting the change we experience and some examples include natural, political, societal, economic, and technological factors. Particularly the technological one as it can be linked back to the others, and we can discover even more interdependencies when we try dissecting it and classify the components into different types of technology. If we attempt to illustrate the dependencies and interdependencies of all kinds of technology and its derivatives and join them with lines, we might be even more confused than when we have started. People in the past have relied very much on nature to sustain their livelihood; we made use of the environment around us and began our agricultural and pastoral activities as well as hunting and gathering. As time progresses, we came up with contraptions to aid our farming, rearing, and hunting activities, successfully reducing the manpower needed and at the same time increasing productivity. One example would be the evolution of the irrigation practices; from simple water diversion technique to the timed sprinklers we have today. These sprinklers are not only used in agriculture, but in golf courses, gardens and even in our backyards as well. It is interesting how the product of an idea originally intended to assist in our livelihood can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Roanoke: First English Colony in North America The story of Roanoke, the first English colony in North America, shows some of the ways in which political, economic, and religious competition affected colonization. In 1585, Queen Elizabeth I of England agreed to support the Dutch against the Spanish. She gave a charter of land to an English noble, Sir Walter Raleigh, to establish a colony. This colony would supply the English warships that would fight the Spanish. However, the plan failed when colonists discovered the warships could not navigate the Roanoke harbor s shallow waters. The expedition left more than 100 settlers to establish the colony. England left these colonists alone for three years while it fought against Spain.
