Critical Reflection In Nursing
When reflecting on the past few weeks of clinical experience, there is known to be many events
in which I can critically reflect upon in order to improve my clinical practice. During my second
week of clinical, I had been assigned with a tough patient. My patient was in his late 50 s, was a
chronic alcoholic and was an avid smoker. He has a medical history of COPD, hypertension, and
liver cirrhosis resulting from his alcoholic background. However, he had been recently
diagnosed with a right sided stroke. He was homeless as he lived in the motel in town, and had
no family or friends to lean on for support. In particular to my personal critical reflection, my
patient had signed a DNR with limited interventions. According to his wishes, he requested not to
receive any artificial nutrition by tube and refused antibiotics. As a nursing student, wishing to
help people recover, this was a specific component in which I could not wrap my head around.
During the morning of report from the night nurses, I had been surprised to hear that my patient
had been unresponsive and had not been responsive to stimuli. Prior to this, I was unaware that
my patient had been in such horrible shape. I did research the previous day and there was no
significant evidence within the chart that indicated my patient had been in this vegetative state.
Upon entering my patients room, I was lost at what to do in order to assess my patient, as he
could not respond to me in any way, shape or form. I

Abortions Pros and Cons Essay
Nowadays, in this world, there are a lot of problems that can make tremendous conflicts for
human beings. They are very complicated and bring a lot of argument and nobody knows what
the exact answer is. They also have pros and cons. One of the most complex problems is
abortion. This is due to moral and ethical values which we all have. The majority of us are
Christians or are brought up in that kind of ambiance which means that as small children we were
taught values that are based on the bible such as that famous phrase Thou shall not kill . This
phrase relates to this topic because an abortionis the murder of a human being.
A 52% of women getting abortions performed on them are younger than 25 years old and 19% are

For the last 17 years, the Hyde Amendment has banned the use of federal funds for almost all
Medicaid abortions. The Hyde Amendment explicitly allows only two exceptions to this
restriction: (1) when the life of the woman is endangered or (2) in cases of rape or incest. Since all
of this was being approved we as a society thought that we could get rid of some of our social
concerns. But it did the complete opposite here are some examples Illegitimate births were at a
10.7% in 1970 and in 1990 it raised to 26.2% in 1990,Children with Single Mothers in 1970
was11% in 1990 was 22%, Violent Crime Rate (per 100,000) in 1970 it was 36.4 2 and in 1990 it
went up to a 73%, Teen Suicide Rate was 5.9% and in 1990 it dramatically increased to a 11.3% ,
and lastly Children on Welfare 8.5% and again that number managed to raise to a 11.9% according
to (Catholic insight , May 2004 p28).
Some of the proposed solutions for this abortion dilemma are making adoption more open to our
current society. This is believed to help stop abortions incases in which the mother cannot support
the unborn child or she wants to avoid raising the unborn child past its birth. This would be an
option for almost anybody considering abortion. As for younger teenagers the promoting of
abstinence rather than the use of contraceptives. This option would be better because it is popular
belief that promoting

The Odyssey Of Saturn s Colorful Rings
The panoply of Saturn s colorful rings greeted Surina the next morning. In fact, many dazzled
passengers packed the observation deck to admire the fresco of shimmering pastel pinks, grays,
yellows, and browns painted by the most prolific artist of all, the creator of the universe. Orbiting
in the magical ringlets of Saturn were the icy rocks from the blown up remnants of the ancient
moons that reflected the sunlight to produce the glittering pastel colors. Similar to Jupiter, Saturn
was a gas giant of primarily hydrogen and helium gasses without a solid surface, on which fierce
winds, lightning storms, and bitter cold temperatures raged. Titan, the biggest of the fifty three
moons, was even larger than Mercury and shrouded in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We saw Saturn today whose name comes from the Roman god of agriculture. Tomorrow, we will
see the last two planets in our Solar System. First, will be Uranus or the Greek god of the sky and
later, Neptune or the Roman god of the sea. These ice giants of frozen water, ammonia, and
methane have much fainter rings than Saturn s dramatic ones. From their far flung locations at the
edge of the Solar System, it takes eighty four Earth years for Uranus to orbit once around the Sun in
comparison with a hundred and sixty five Earth years for Neptune. Additionally, Neptune is the
only planet in the Solar System not visible from Earth without a telescope. Both planets have frozen
landscapes, with an average temperature of minus two hundred and twenty four degrees Celsius for
Uranus and minus four hundred degrees Celsius for Neptune. The two planets appear blue due to
the reflection of blue light by methane, a primary component in their atmosphere. Furthermore, the
twenty seven moons of Uranus have names from characters of William Shakespeare s plays such
as Juliet, Ophelia, and Puck. In contrast, Neptune s thirteen moons have names from the Greek sea
gods and mythical beings such as Triton and Larissa. From the front row, Alfonso raised his hand to
ask enthusiastically, Sir, is there life anywhere else in the universe? We launched many unmanned

Blood Doping In The Athletic World
How far would you go to enhance your athletic ability in a game or competition? Some athletes
are so committed to winning that they will do just about anything to enhance their ability to win.
The pressure that athletes face in the athletic world drives them to do some crazy things to win.
Most people have at least heard of one way to do such enhancements, but have you heard about
the newest wave in performance enhancers that is making its debut? This new trend in the
athletic world is called blood doping. Blood doping is defined as a technique used by athletes to
increase the red blood cell (RBC) count, which will in turn elevate the oxygen level in the blood.
Having this elevation gives the muscles more oxygen to work with, which increases

`` Brave New World Of Digital Intimacy `` And Mark Twain...
Humanity started as small tribes of people working together and benefiting each other, with each
member having a clear identity that complements the other small group members. The
advancement of civilization threatened this identity. Soon, hordes of people living together in
cities, towns, and countries drowned out individual voices and opinions, causing people to lose a
sense of identity. While it may be hard to maintain a sense of identity in a crowd, society offers
many hidden benefits that can counterbalance the struggles of identity. Two readings, Clive
Thompson s Brave New World of Digital Intimacy and Mark Twain s The Dairies of Adam and Eve
show how society and sharing the Good life can benefit the individual overall, and might even help
an individual find their own identity.
In Mark Twain s The Diaries of Adamand Eve, Adam first struggled with the existence of his new
life partner Eve. He hated the fact that he never had alone time, and the fact that Eve was starting
to name all the animals in the garden. Matters worsened when they had kids. However, near the
end of the reading, Adam begun to realize that Eve enriched his life in a way that he never knew
before. Adam, in return, also enriched Eve s life. The two found happiness together where they
normally would not find it alone. The pair s relationship shows the core idea of forsaking solitude
and peace for something more, the companionship and joy of others.

Blindness In Sophocles Oedipus The King
Oedipus Rex Essay
They say that there is no real definition of what it is to see something. We have all become
accustomed to seeing things that are right in front of us that we sometimes forget what we are
truly seeing. We tend to forget about the beauty behind certain things and we forget how lucky we
are to be able to see them. On the other hand, sometimes we try to close our eyes to the things we
hate. During a scary movie or horrific event, people may cover there eyes and choose to not see the
truth and what s really in front of them. Oedipus Rex wasn t able to see the truth, and yet Teiresias,
a blind man saw it plainly. Oedipus is known for his intelligence but chooses to be ignorant and
therefore blind to the truth about himself and his past. In Oedipus the King, Sophocles uses the
blindness motif effectively by making Oedipus blind throughout the story by his refusal to see that
the prophecy has come true, while Tiresias physical blindness allows him to see the truth. ... Show

The Shadow Of The Mexican Revolution
In the Shadow of the Mexican Revolution by Hector Aquilar Camin and Lorenzo Meyer tells a
chronological story of contemporary Mexico from the fall of Porfirio Diaz in 1910 to the July

the Mexican country would begin to see a positive output in the country, it would be short lived and
Mexico would continue to fall behind as other countries progressed. While In the Shadow of the

This new power that would rule after Diaz would be Francisco Madero. The opening chapter
details the shift from the Diaz reign over to the Madero, but it foreshadows the future of Mexico.
A president is overthrown by a leader that wants to change Mexico, but then fails to enact change
and fall victim to corruption and war. Madero is voted in as president by an overwhelming
ninety eight percent of the vote, yet as soon as he takes over the office he quickly turns his back

failed to make the change he had believed were necessary. Madero would have multiple problems

inheritance of a problematic country he sees his reign cut short thanks to Huerta and one United
States Ambassador by the name of Henry Lane Wilson. Wilson would help overthrow Madero
since he felt that Huerta would be a better ally to the United States. But, what chapter two would
entail would be the rise of those opposing Huerta. We would soon see the rise of opposing forces
in the form of Carranza, Obregon, Villa, aka the Men of the North, and Zappata. This would be the
beginning of a Mexican Civil War. While Carranza and company would succeed in taking down
Huerta there would still be unjust between the revolutionaries and soon see diffusion amongst

Ann Marie awoke, which was odd, because she thought that she had killed herself. She opened
her eyes, closing them again quickly when she saw a bright light. She sighed, it was probably a

wings kept weighing her down and she could not keep herself standing upright. She didn t even
know how to use her wings!
Ann Marie stayed on the ground, unsure of what to do with herself, considering she was alone

The Discovery Of A Business Model Innovation
The disruptive business models are those that surprisingly manage top to make new markets and
disrupt the existing markets. To discover these innovations, it requires a level of innovativeness and
open mindedness that will enable one to create new influential innovations. The discovery of a
business model innovation usually starts with customer value propositions and customer segment.
The business model brings about logic and provides vital data that demonstrates how a company
can formulate itself and provide valuable input to customers. Furthermore, it facilitates the setup of
revenue allocation, the costs and the various profit margins that the business delivers (Colovic,
2012).Furthermore, these different issues are also interrelated and, therefore, offer a competitive
advantage besides bringing in huge profit margins. Business models also provide a business design
and outlay that defines how the particular company can convert the various payments received into
profits, and help the company to excel as an innovation and as a business model, as well as to
understand the different business design options according to the customer needs and the various
technological advances. To develop a successful business model, one has to ensure that the
competitive advantage of the company remains a permanent part of it and that this model is
difficult to duplicate and redo. The business model brings about the financial and organizational
architecture of the particular business. The

Gun control
Does gun control reduce crime rate?
Abstract
Over the past few months, people across the nation have been debating about gun control. Topics
ranging from firearm restrictions to background checks have been heavily discussed by both
emotion and logic, by both gun supporters and gun control activists, and it seems like there is no
middle ground for both parties to agree on. Crime rates influence guns demanded for self
protection, and guns demanded by criminals depend upon guns held by law abiding citizens.
Comparative static analysis is used to investigate the effects of crime and gun control policies. The
results show that increases in crime control policies may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This showed that the backgrounds checks that were conducted at the local leave had less suicide
and homicide rates. The local agencies have access to more detailed criminal reports than the

Firearm has been a major issue in United States since founding of the country; however in
December 15, 1971 a bill was passed which integrated the second Amendment to the constitution.
That second Amendment give people the right to bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Ever since the
law was passed America has been the nation of gun owner, it has been a problem for both the
owners and the gun control advocate ( Annas Glantz, 2009).
It is obvious why people support gun control, because they want to reduce crime and gun control
will help achieve their goals. In the poll that was conducted in 1978, regarding gun control laws
41 percent of Americans believe even if there were more gun control law that crime would still
stay the same while 16 percent believes that crime will increase. After the shooting at Columbine
school, respondents were asked who was to be blamed for the murders, only a few recognized
weak gun control rules. Many Americans support gun control because they believe gun control is
an effective way to reduce crime and violence. When it comes to gun control, Americans have very
weak viewpoints on the topic . (Bartton Gertz, Kleck, 2009).

Four Leadership Theories
Introduction
I have just been appointed to organise a small team in a large corporate organisation. As I am new
to this role I have been provided with the assistance of a mentor.
TASK 1
In the first meeting I realised that to have a useful discussion with the mentor I should study the
concepts and theories related to management and leadership so I can properly make the notes that
would help in proper discussion with the mentor. For this reason I studied different articles and
make notes that consist of:
AN ANALYSIS OF THE CONCEPTS OF LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
In this report I will discuss the four leadership theories that include leader member exchange
theory, path goal theory, transactional transformational theory and the full range leadership
theory. (UK essays. November 2013) we start the report by discussing the leader member
exchange theory. Leader Member Exchange Theory, also called LMX or Vertical Dyad Linkage
Theory, explains how leaders in groups maintain their position through a series of tacit exchange
agreements with their members . In this theory there are 3 qualities of the leader follower
collaborations were analyzed by the LMX such as locus of control, need for power, and self
esteem. The extent to which a person has control over his life and environment is locus of control.
A person who think they are responsible for all their activities are the persons with the internal
locus of control. These people are usually the people who show more satisfaction

Imagine living in a place where everyone is equal. No one is smarter or or faster, everyone is the
same. This is what everyday life is described as in the short story, Harrison Bergeron by Kurt
Vonnegut. Throughout the story, Vonnegut tells the reader what society would be like if everyone
was average. Also, Vonnegut exaggerates what people would have to do in order to be equal,
including wearing handicaps which deprive people of showing their strengths. These include;
having to wear bags of birdshot for the strong and the beautiful being forced to wear masks to hide
their faces. The theme of Harrison Bergeronis that total equality can have a dangerous outcome to

Primates Part 1 Book Report
Primates have always been a fascination of author Robert Sapolsky who wrote an autobiography
about a trip he took to Kenya as a research undergraduate student. Part 1 is named the adolescent
years and talks about when Sapolsky first joined the baboon trip to Kenya. It introduces his
research assignment, how stress affected a primates health, and the baboons he recorded his data
from. Soloman was the alpha male and Leah was the alpha female. Devorah was the most eligible
female in the group. Ruth, a lower ranking baboon, who had difficulty finding a mate settled down
with Joshua, another lower ranking baboon. They soon had Obadiah. Uriah a large baboon who
transferred into the group in the spring persisted a challenge against Soloman until he... Show more

surrounding areas and to the baboons. Towards the end, Sapolsky had traveled to Olemelepo to
perform an autopsy on a diseased baboon. To confirm whether it was Tuberculosis, he had
another sick baboon studied and the results came out positive for Bovine TB. Luckily, the
baboon troop he was studying was not affected but the rates were growing rapidly for the
Olemelopo baboon troop. Ultimately, the source of Bovine TB came from cattle raised by the
Masai people, who refused to kill off the cows. Sapolsky went back to the United States to study
TB in baboons and when he returned to Kenya, he arrived in time to say goodbye to his baboon
troop who was affected by the outbreak. The last one of his troop to go was, Joshua, who he sat
with and fed cookies until he was gone. An overall theme in all four parts has to do with Sapolsky

President Fdr s New Deal
At the peak of the Great Depression in 1932 the unemployment rate stood at 25 percent and the
Dow Jones Average sunk to a mere 34, indicating severe economic distress.1 Millions of
individuals were starving on the streets and billions of dollars were lost in the stock market. When
Franklin Roosevelt released the New Dealin 1933, a plan to provide relief, reform, and recovery to
the distressed country, Americans were in dire need of relief. Recognizing that something had to be
done quickly, President FDR implemented a series of programs to immediately mitigate the effects
of the Depression. By focusing on programs to aid business and labor, farmers, housing and
homeowners, banks and the stock market, and the youth of America, FDR attempted to provide the
immediate relief from the Great Depressionthat America so desperately needed. Although some of
the programs in the New Deal were more successful than others, they succeeded as a whole in
providing the short term relief that America needed to survive the Great Depression. The first
major relief program for businesses and labor was the Federal Emergency Relief Act. Released in
1933, the FERA created the Federal Emergency Relief Administration, an agency that not only
distributed federal aid to states for relief, but also provided state directed work to boost the morale
of the recipients.2 As Harry Hopkins, advisor to FDR on work relief programs stated about FERA,
Give him a job and pay him an assured wage, and you save

Qualitative Data Collection Methods Paper
Qualitative data collection method is the method I would use to answer my research question:
How does text messaging effect teen literacy? I would choose this method over quantitative
because qualitative methods are lead with first hand observations for a wide range of behaviors.
The hypothesis is broad and looks to describe the entire picture. It helps us to understand the world
we live in and explains why things are the way they are. This type of researchis primary gathering
information for the early stages of a question. One of the major reasons for doing qualitative
researchis to become more experienced with the phenomenon you are interested in.
Qualitative data collections are particularly helpful when the event is not of importance, but rather
how the event may influence a sequence of other actions. Describing the complicated phenomena
is not the goal of a qualitative research, but rather to distinguish ideas as to why and how a specific
phenomenon operates as it does in a precise situation.
Qualitative research involves capturing the complexity of behavior that occurs in natural settings

Vending Machines in Schools
Should vending machines be banned in schools? Abbas Abdulrazak MEL4601 Dr Wadsworth
November 2, 2009 Obesity is a serious and growing problem among adolescents in the United
States. In 1999, 13% of children aged 6 to 11 years and 14% of adolescents aged 12 to 19 years
in the United States were overweight. This prevalence has nearly tripled for adolescents in the
past 2 decades ( Fact Sheet ). A key cause for concern is that overweight adolescents are at higher

Furthermore, vending machines are available to adolescents throughout the day. The
availability of vending machines gives students a good alternative to the cafeteria. The cafeteria
is usually crowded and hence vending machines allow students to skip the lines and grab a
quick bite. Also some students may not be able to get to the cafeteria before it closes for various
reasons; vending machines provide them with the convenience. They also allow for students to
grab a drink after vigorous exercise. However, a problem with all this is that it may disrupt
regularly scheduled meals. This in turn greatly disturbs the natural biorhythms of the body.
Because the body performs certain functions on a time schedule, irregular eating habits disrupt
the natural clock work of bodily processes ( Is Eating Between Meals Healthy? ). As mentioned
above, vending machines are loaded with junk food. Junk food is known to increase blood
sugar levels which can lead to behavior problems and impaired learning ability in children. This
is sometimes called the spike and crash syndrome. It is defined as the rapid ups and downs of
children s blood sugar levels when they eat too much sugar and overly processed carbs, especially
on an empty stomach (Lapine). The children start acting as if they ve had four cups of coffee and are

The Physiological Comprehension Of Immune Responses
Introduction: In today s society, molecular understanding of functions, like interleukin 2, has
contributed to the physiological comprehension of immune responses in life forms. Interleukin 2 is
a crucial factor in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other immunosuppressant diseases. It binds itself
to T cellreceptors which induce naive T cell proliferation and differentiation. This contributes to
a plethora of different cells such as cytotoxic T cells, natural kill cells, and LAK cells, which
protect life forms against infections and/or viruses. In 1993, an immunological analysis was
performed by Sadlack and his colleagues. Knockout mice were used, meaning that their IL 2
gene was removed. This resulted in an increased amount of T and B cell counts relative to the
wild type mice. These researchers thus suggested that it is an inflammatory regulator. Overall
when IL 2 is not present, unregulated proliferation of T cells increase as mice reach their terminal
stage of illness. Now, interleukin 2 is used in HIV therapies, which helps increase and regulate T
cell reactions in immune compromised patients. Data has been shown that IL 2 increases
proliferation and survival of CD4+ T cells in these patients.

Homelessness And Suicide Essay
Suicide and Homelessness
Homeless adults are committing suicide every day. Half of most suicides happen in men, ages 25
through 65, with the teenagers and women accounting with the other half. Based on the calculated
population, people commit suicide every 13.3 minutes (Peter Jon). Mental illness is the factor that
causes these deaths; mental illness refers to disorder that affects mood, thinking and behavior, this
is the most frequent cause for suicide. People who suffer from depression are impulsive and use
alcohol or drugs. Homeless adults who have mental disorders often commit suicide because of
depression, abandonment, and the lack of education.
Many human deaths are caused by depression, depression can be described by feeling sad,
unhappy, or miserable. Research has shown that 90 percent of people who kill themselves
suffered from depression, or another diagnosable mental or substance abuse disorder that leads
them to this horrible tragedy called suicide (Wilson). Depression can lead to suicide if its not
being treated, in the worst case. A harmful life event or events can lead to be a cause of a suicide
attempt. If your wife died and you feel like you ca not deal with it, you drown yourself into drugs
and drinking, you are left alone your children are now adults and are gone away somewhere
married and they can not come with you. So you continue to drown yourself, until you do not have
any more money and you go homeless, you then think and start talking to yourself

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
The Basics
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also called sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are
diseases and infections that are passed from person to person through sexual contact. HIV is an
STD. There are more than 25 other STDs that are mainly spread by sexual contact such as
vaginal, anal, and oral sex. The US has the highest rate of STDs in the developed world. In the
US, about 19 million new infections occur each year. Teenage girls and young women need to be
particularly aware of STDs. A recent study estimates that 1 in 4 teenage girls (aged 14 19) have an
STD. African Americans girls and young women have some of the highest rates of STDs,

Other types cause infections in the genital area that can lead to genital warts, cervical cancer, or
cancer of the vulva, vagina, anus, and penis. Genital HPV is spread easily through skin to skin
contact during vaginal or anal sex. Condoms do not totally prevent transmission. HIV+ people are
more likely to be infected with HPV than HIV negative people. HIV+ people with HPV are also
more likely to develop genital warts, as well as cervical or anal cancer. It is important to detect
HPV early and get treatment to prevent health problems. Regular Pap tests are a good way to
detect HPV. There are also two HPV vaccines. Young people should get vaccinated before their
first sexual contact (before they have been exposed to HPV). People who are already infected with
HPV are not protected by the vaccines. For more information, see TWP info sheet on HPV.
Gonorrhea
This bacterial STD can be spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Symptoms may include a
yellowish or greenish vaginal discharge and a burning feeling when urinating. Gonorrhea can also
affect the anus and the throat. Many women have no symptoms. Gonorrhea can be treated with
antibiotics. If left untreated, it can cause PID and infertility. All sexually active women should be
screened for gonorrhea.

Neoliberalism In Canada
Introduction Unions have a long and sometimes contentious history in Canada, although they are
also the source of many of the labour laws and standards that we have come to accept as normal.
However, since the 1980s, an increasing trend towards favouring neoliberal policies has erased
many of the social welfare and employment standards gains by unions, with particularly harsh
effects on more vulnerable populations including women, immigrants, younger workers, and
Aboriginal peoples. A striking example of these shifts is seen in the restaurant sector in B.C.,
where recent controversies with Canada s temporary foreign worker program has at least brought
some discussions of worker s rights to the headlines in regional and national newspapers.
Unfortunately, despite this new attention the current political climate continues to be hostile to
workers groups and to workers rights. Changes: Neoliberalism in Theory and Practice in Canada

The Love Languages Of The Children
It is a universal truth that we all need love in our lives. We all have different ways in which we
like to receive and give love. Many of us may not even realize that we do. Gary Chapman writes
about five different ways in which we love and titles them five love languages. It is important to
identify how we love, because it can allow us to have a happier life and make other people s lives
better. It is especially important to identify the love languages of the children which we
encounter, because it can shape their identity either for the better or worse. There are five major
love languages that can be identified and can pretty much sum up the best ways we can express
our love. The five love languages are touch, words of affirmation, giving, time, and service. A child
s love languagecan be identified in two ways, through observation and through communication,
which pretty much also depends on their love language. We can observe the childand see if he
enjoys touching his parents and siblings, or if he does things and then looks to see what the
parent will say or perhaps just sits next to their siblings and follows them around. Love languages
are adaptable and although most humans have all the love languages, some are stronger than
others. The love languages of the parents effects what the love languages of the children will be.
For example if the parents hug a lot or if they buy gifts for each other the child can adopt that gift
and want to use it

The American Dream Is Everyone s Dream
I think the American Dream is everybody s dream. When Ralph Lauren, the corporation, chose this
quote from their respective patriarch as the basis for an advertisement in October 2017 s issue of
Esquire Magazine, they were making a bold, blanket statement. They also made an assumption.
While this advertisement uses many traditional American stereotypes, portraying a sense of
optimism and nostalgia centered around civic nationalism, it makes a mistake in itsit s overly broad
appeals that render the ad ineffective; the American dream is not everyone s dream, it s not even
every American s dream. To make sense of this, one must define both The American Dream and

The Jeep is known as the vehicle that won World War II. The family represents the idea that
America is a place where one s children can grow up to maximize their full potential. These items
are all tied together by their identity within an American context. Of these classic American
stereotypes, the cowboy hat atop Lauren s head carries with it as much nostalgia as nearly any
other possible non government affiliated symbol (i.e. the American Flag). The cowboy hat
represents American concepts such as the west, wide open spaces, and manifest destiny. A
secondary interpretation, which actually makes more sense in the context of the ad, being that the
form and shape of this hat renders itself much more commercial than functional, is that the hat
references the Golden Age of Hollywood, a time in 1950 s and 1960 s America when Western film
was at its height and every young boy in America wanted to be John Wayne.
On an even deeper analysis, one may notice that the pose of Lauren in this photograph bears a
striking resemblance to a famous portrait of President Ronald Reagan in his cowboy hat and work

How Did Shakespeare Destroy Macbeth
William Shakespeare wrote the famous tragedy named Macbeth, about a bloody rise to power and
the tragic downfall of the warrior Macbeth. There are accusations that some scenes and songs from
this play have been augmented from previous works, specifically the witch scenes. Most people
argue that since there were no copyrights during the era in which Macbethwas written, Shakespeare
indeed did not plagiarized any songs or scenes. However, the removal of the witch scenes that
include the stolen songs would cause the play to crumble. Therefor the witch scenes and songs are
indeed original to Shakespeare s play Macbeth.

This scene is so vital that if it were removed it would ruin the dramatic irony of the audience
knowing the explanation of why the witches want to destroy Macbeth. It would also take away
from the motif of fate from the play. But most importantly it destroys the evidence that Macbeth
s locus of control is completely external because, from the beginning of act one the witches have
had control over Macbeth when they put a spell on him in scene one, act one. Each of these
witch scenes whether their music was plagiarized or augmented in any way, are extremely vital
to Macbeth s story line. If these scenes were to be removed it would destroy this famously known
play. So as a conclusion, these songs were usually borrowed off the street; there were no copyright

Developing Countries During World War II
1. Introduction: Since World War II, trade between growing and manufacturing nations has
strengthened and borrowing of poor countries from the rich countries has increased. The growing
link between these two groups of economies increased eventually in addition to the increase in the
rate of dependability amongst them. With the rapid growth in wealth and industrialization of the
First World, only a few developing countries managed to have adequate economic growth on the
line of the developed countries. Many of the developing countries which were poor at that time
still remained to be poor today even today in comparison to the industrialized nations. Dearth of
capital and skilled labor produces a low level of per capita income preventing the developing
countries to realize their economies of scale through which many of the developed countries benefit
from. Several attempts have been made by developed countries to decrease the disparities between
rich and the poor economies. To finance their domestic investment, developing countries rely on
other governments or international organizations like International Monetary Fund (IMF) and
World Bank to procure loans. Besides these loans, foreign investments in these countries are
financed by private companies, this from of investment is known as Foreign Direct Investment
(FDI). In case of FDIs, the foreign companies, especially Transnational Corporations (TNCs), invest

The Issues Of Financial Demands And Permits
In reaching an agreement on the issues of financial demands and permits, our party thought that
the last issue in the agenda was the press release; however, the mayors asked for an annual fixed
payment of $250,000.00 per town from the corporation. While our party was not provided with an
acceptable range to which we may agree upon as precluded by the confidential instructions, we
instead offered to pay $200,000.00 as a low cost inducement instead, to which the mayors agreed
upon. In an effort to reach an agreementwith the counterparts to a positive press release of the
corporation and its project, our party agreed to the payment in the spirit of the consensus decision

addition, the mayors offered to promote the project in the towns with the use of the $200,000.00 as
a form of marketing expense, which the corporation could then respectively decrease from the
marketing budget.

Determining The Adjustable Rate Mortgages
Why would anyone consider an adjustable rate mortgage when fixed rate loans are at their
lowest in over half of a century? Interest rates are even lower on ARM mortgages and for buyers
who are certain that they will sell within the fixed rate term, there are significant savings to be
realized depending upon current market conditions. Even so, these mortgages are not practical for
everyone but for those who are absolutely sure they will own the real estate for limited period of
time the savings can override the risk of a potentially higher interest rate in the event plans change.
Today s suite of adjustable rate programs include a number of structural options but the standard
market acceptable versions all follow the same basic format. The interest rate is fixed for a period
of time and subsequently adjusted annually during the ensuing years. Although the primary
consideration other than interest rate is the length of time to the first adjustment, the criteria
effecting how the adjustments are made is also an important to understanding the impact on future
mortgage payments.
Program Options
Lenders are partial to ARM s because their exposure to below market interest rate mortgages rates is
limited therefore they offer rates commensurate with the fixed rate term. Also because the interest
rate adjusts after the initial fixed term they eliminate the accounting problem of carrying
substantially below market investments on their balance sheet far into the future. The

Implementing Job Analysis Components For Recruitment,...
Organizations have recently been investing greater capital and time into human resources seeing as
it impacts companies presently more than it has previously. With the focus on human resources,
companies can gain a competitive advantage by maintaining sustainability, as well as solving
challenges on a global and technological level. Second Dimension International (SDI) Marketing
has recently faced issues affecting their intangible assets that are detrimental to the company s
sustainability. Implementing job analysis components will aid in the resolution of problems
associated with recruitment, training, communication, and retention for SDI. SDI has been in

As long as SDI continues to receive contracts from recognized companies, their economic growth
will continue to rise. However, the continuation of contracts will only be plausible if the issues and
subsequent recommendations presented will be initiated and executed. When a particular market
or industry experiences sudden growth, it is difficult for companies to immediately adapt to the
changes in order to be efficient and effective. With companies spending more of their capital on
providing an experience for their audience, SDI is a company who must adapt to these changes
proficiently. Unfortunately, there are still opportunities for the marketing firm to strengthen and
grow. SDI s intangible assets including human capital pose a threat to the company s sustainability,
as they are vital to a company s competitive advantage. The company s main drawback is their
inability to manage their talent in terms of attracting, retaining, and developing. This not only
increases SDI s recruitment and training costs but it also effects employee morale and engagement.

  • 4. Critical Reflection In Nursing When reflecting on the past few weeks of clinical experience, there is known to be many events in which I can critically reflect upon in order to improve my clinical practice. During my second week of clinical, I had been assigned with a tough patient. My patient was in his late 50 s, was a chronic alcoholic and was an avid smoker. He has a medical history of COPD, hypertension, and liver cirrhosis resulting from his alcoholic background. However, he had been recently diagnosed with a right sided stroke. He was homeless as he lived in the motel in town, and had no family or friends to lean on for support. In particular to my personal critical reflection, my patient had signed a DNR with limited interventions. According to his wishes, he requested not to receive any artificial nutrition by tube and refused antibiotics. As a nursing student, wishing to help people recover, this was a specific component in which I could not wrap my head around. During the morning of report from the night nurses, I had been surprised to hear that my patient had been unresponsive and had not been responsive to stimuli. Prior to this, I was unaware that my patient had been in such horrible shape. I did research the previous day and there was no significant evidence within the chart that indicated my patient had been in this vegetative state. • 11. `` Brave New World Of Digital Intimacy `` And Mark Twain... Humanity started as small tribes of people working together and benefiting each other, with each member having a clear identity that complements the other small group members. The advancement of civilization threatened this identity. Soon, hordes of people living together in cities, towns, and countries drowned out individual voices and opinions, causing people to lose a sense of identity. While it may be hard to maintain a sense of identity in a crowd, society offers many hidden benefits that can counterbalance the struggles of identity. Two readings, Clive Thompson s Brave New World of Digital Intimacy and Mark Twain s The Dairies of Adam and Eve show how society and sharing the Good life can benefit the individual overall, and might even help an individual find their own identity. In Mark Twain s The Diaries of Adamand Eve, Adam first struggled with the existence of his new life partner Eve. He hated the fact that he never had alone time, and the fact that Eve was starting to name all the animals in the garden. Matters worsened when they had kids. However, near the end of the reading, Adam begun to realize that Eve enriched his life in a way that he never knew before. Adam, in return, also enriched Eve s life. The two found happiness together where they normally would not find it alone. The pair s relationship shows the core idea of forsaking solitude and peace for something more, the companionship and joy of others. In the section under Ten Years Later Adam ... Oedipus Rex wasn t able to see the truth, and yet Teiresias, a blind man saw it plainly. Oedipus is known for his intelligence but chooses to be ignorant and therefore blind to the truth about himself and his past. • 27. Qualitative Data Collection Methods Paper Qualitative data collection method is the method I would use to answer my research question: How does text messaging effect teen literacy? I would choose this method over quantitative because qualitative methods are lead with first hand observations for a wide range of behaviors. The hypothesis is broad and looks to describe the entire picture. It helps us to understand the world we live in and explains why things are the way they are. This type of researchis primary gathering information for the early stages of a question. One of the major reasons for doing qualitative researchis to become more experienced with the phenomenon you are interested in. Qualitative data collections are particularly helpful when the event is not of importance, but rather how the event may influence a sequence of other actions. Describing the complicated phenomena is not the goal of a qualitative research, but rather to distinguish ideas as to why and how a specific phenomenon operates as it does in a precise situation. Abbas Abdulrazak MEL4601 Dr Wadsworth November 2, 2009 Obesity is a serious and growing problem among adolescents in the United States. In 1999, 13% of children aged 6 to 11 years and 14% of adolescents aged 12 to 19 years in the United States were overweight. This prevalence has nearly tripled for adolescents in the past 2 decades ( Fact Sheet ). Furthermore, vending machines are available to adolescents throughout the day. The availability of vending machines gives students a good alternative to the cafeteria. The cafeteria is usually crowded and hence vending machines allow students to skip the lines and grab a quick bite. Also some students may not be able to get to the cafeteria before it closes for various reasons; vending machines provide them with the convenience. They also allow for students to grab a drink after vigorous exercise. However, a problem with all this is that it may disrupt regularly scheduled meals. This in turn greatly disturbs the natural biorhythms of the body. Because the body performs certain functions on a time schedule, irregular eating habits disrupt the natural clock work of bodily processes ( Is Eating Between Meals Healthy? ). As mentioned above, vending machines are loaded with junk food. Junk food is known to increase blood sugar levels which can lead to behavior problems and impaired learning ability in children. This is sometimes called the spike and crash syndrome. • 29. The Physiological Comprehension Of Immune Responses Introduction: In today s society, molecular understanding of functions, like interleukin 2, has contributed to the physiological comprehension of immune responses in life forms. Interleukin 2 is a crucial factor in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other immunosuppressant diseases. It binds itself to T cellreceptors which induce naive T cell proliferation and differentiation. This contributes to a plethora of different cells such as cytotoxic T cells, natural kill cells, and LAK cells, which protect life forms against infections and/or viruses. In 1993, an immunological analysis was performed by Sadlack and his colleagues. Knockout mice were used, meaning that their IL 2 gene was removed. This resulted in an increased amount of T and B cell counts relative to the wild type mice. These researchers thus suggested that it is an inflammatory regulator. Overall when IL 2 is not present, unregulated proliferation of T cells increase as mice reach their terminal stage of illness. Now, interleukin 2 is used in HIV therapies, which helps increase and regulate T cell reactions in immune compromised patients. Data has been shown that IL 2 increases proliferation and survival of CD4+ T cells in these patients. Neoliberalism In Canada Introduction Unions have a long and sometimes contentious history in Canada, although they are also the source of many of the labour laws and standards that we have come to accept as normal. However, since the 1980s, an increasing trend towards favouring neoliberal policies has erased many of the social welfare and employment standards gains by unions, with particularly harsh effects on more vulnerable populations including women, immigrants, younger workers, and Aboriginal peoples. A striking example of these shifts is seen in the restaurant sector in B.C., where recent controversies with Canada s temporary foreign worker program has at least brought some discussions of worker s rights to the headlines in regional and national newspapers. Unfortunately, despite this new attention the current political climate continues to be hostile to workers groups and to workers rights. • 38. The Love Languages Of The Children It is a universal truth that we all need love in our lives. We all have different ways in which we like to receive and give love. Many of us may not even realize that we do. Gary Chapman writes about five different ways in which we love and titles them five love languages. It is important to identify how we love, because it can allow us to have a happier life and make other people s lives better. It is especially important to identify the love languages of the children which we encounter, because it can shape their identity either for the better or worse. There are five major love languages that can be identified and can pretty much sum up the best ways we can express our love. The five love languages are touch, words of affirmation, giving, time, and service. A child s love languagecan be identified in two ways, through observation and through communication, which pretty much also depends on their love language. We can observe the childand see if he enjoys touching his parents and siblings, or if he does things and then looks to see what the parent will say or perhaps just sits next to their siblings and follows them around. Love languages are adaptable and although most humans have all the love languages, some are stronger than others. The love languages of the parents effects what the love languages of the children will be. The cowboy hat represents American concepts such as the west, wide open spaces, and manifest destiny. A secondary interpretation, which actually makes more sense in the context of the ad, being that the form and shape of this hat renders itself much more commercial than functional, is that the hat references the Golden Age of Hollywood, a time in 1950 s and 1960 s America when Western film was at its height and every young boy in America wanted to be John Wayne. On an even deeper analysis, one may notice that the pose of Lauren in this photograph bears a striking resemblance to a famous portrait of President Ronald Reagan in his cowboy hat and work shirt. Introduction: Since World War II, trade between growing and manufacturing nations has strengthened and borrowing of poor countries from the rich countries has increased. The growing link between these two groups of economies increased eventually in addition to the increase in the rate of dependability amongst them. With the rapid growth in wealth and industrialization of the First World, only a few developing countries managed to have adequate economic growth on the line of the developed countries. • 44. Determining The Adjustable Rate Mortgages Why would anyone consider an adjustable rate mortgage when fixed rate loans are at their lowest in over half of a century? Interest rates are even lower on ARM mortgages and for buyers who are certain that they will sell within the fixed rate term, there are significant savings to be realized depending upon current market conditions. Even so, these mortgages are not practical for everyone but for those who are absolutely sure they will own the real estate for limited period of time the savings can override the risk of a potentially higher interest rate in the event plans change. Today s suite of adjustable rate programs include a number of structural options but the standard market acceptable versions all follow the same basic format. The interest rate is fixed for a period of time and subsequently adjusted annually during the ensuing years. Although the primary consideration other than interest rate is the length of time to the first adjustment, the criteria effecting how the adjustments are made is also an important to understanding the impact on future mortgage payments. Program Options Lenders are partial to ARM s because their exposure to below market interest rate mortgages rates is limited therefore they offer rates commensurate with the fixed rate term. Also because the interest rate adjusts after the initial fixed term they eliminate the accounting problem of carrying substantially below market investments on their balance sheet far into the future.
