The Instrument Used For Measure Temperature Is A Thermometer
The instrument used to measure temperature is a thermometer. There are many types of thermometers;
the most common consist of a closed, graduated glass tube in which a liquid expands or contracts as
the temperature increases or decreases. Many different types of thermometers work by detecting
changes in the volume or pressure of an enclosed gas or by registering thermoelectric changes in a
conductor (such as a thermistor or thermocouple). Galen, a Greek scientist and doctor made the first
attempt at measuring temperature.
Central idea of the paper :
The measurement of body temperature may be helpful for monitoring whether a person is ill, or
whether treatment is working. The body temperature is controlled by hypothalamus, a small part of ...

OFT ate an optical signal generator, an optical signal transmitting system and an detecting system.
This have so many advantages such as high accuracy, intrinsic immunity to the EM inference and long
lifetime. The disadvantage is it gives scattering loss to the fiber and optical losses due to the couplers.
To some extent, dual band compensation is better to solve this issue but the sensor is sensitive as a
single band system. So, an improved method was proposed by Zhang, Tong inorder to lessen the light
path effect and the temperature calibration. Coming to the applications of Blackbody OFTs, it have
been proved to be very successful in measuring high temperatures in metals, production of glasses,
Boiler burner flames, tube temperatures, and in critical turbine areas. This can be used in all types of
furnaces, paper making, food processing, fusion, sputtering, crystal growth processes in
semiconductor industry.

The Spectacle Rhetorical Analysis
An author by the name of Joseph Addison, who primarily critiques societal flaws in a subtle way,
wrote an article in The Spectacle, popular British newspaper, essentially ridiculing the entire upper
class. In this short passage, Addison writes about a diarist who keeps track of his every move
throughout the day, no matter how interesting or uninteresting it may be. Addison throughout the
entirety of the passage uses literary devices in tone, repetition, and irony to convey his satire point of
his strong disapproval of the accepted aristocratic way of life.
Addison throughout the diary gives the reader a strong sense of his satire tone to influence a level
hatred towards the aristocracy social class. This is expressed by Addison specifically

The Canadian Progressive Rock Band Rush
Books, movies, paintings, music, and other types of art are connected in various ways, but one
connection seems to stand out. All art mediums are constructed in a way that disallows a median to be
reached regarding one s opinion from another. If a group of people favors one thing, another group
most likely exists that has the opposite, or conflicting opinion. 2112, read Twenty one twelve, is a 7
part conceptual album by the Canadian progressive rock band Rush, illustrates this conflict in its main
plot. Regardless of its vivid storytelling and impactful instrumentals that glues everything together, it
is evident that each listener will break apart in terms of their personal opinions.
2112, much like in Anthem by Ayn Rand, the dystopic idea of equality and how everyone should
cherish their unique identities that they possess. The main character, named Anonymous, retaliates
against the idea by not conforming to what is expected by the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx , but
the factor driving him ultimately was the will to venture outward and appreciate something that
seemingly no one else sees. The conversation between Anonymous, and the priest during IV.
Presentation , separates light from dark. Anonymous, after discovering a guitar that the Elder race of
man left, speaks out to share his opinions. I can t believe you re saying / These things just can t be true
/ Our world could use this beauty / Just think what we might do (Rush, IV. Presentation). Anonymous

Unbalance Between Beetles And Conifers
Marked by its swampy woodlands the boreal forest biome is located in the northern part of Canada
and Russia. Evidently, the boreal forest ecosystem is comprised of many different species such as
wolf, lynx, moose, hare, marten, conifer, and grass (Biome Explorer, 2012). Unfortunately, global
warming is a scenario that could cause the genetic diversity of the boreal forest population to be
severely damaged. For example, if this biome were to experience an increase in temperature it would
positively impact bark beetles causing outbreaks which in turn becomes detrimental to the trees within
this ecosystem such as the conifers. Therefore, global warming would cause unbalance between the
bark beetles and the conifers, since the increase of bark

Analysis Of The Beatles Abbey Road
Four Beatles in a row, crossing the black and white zebra crossing on Abbey Road, one so serious
looking, one barefoot and smoking, one simply looking to keep up with his friends and the fourth in
white, hands in pocket and his face swathed in hair compose the cover art of their last recorded album,
Abbey Road . The album shows a band still clearly in its prime, capable of songwriting and recording
feats that other groups could only envy. Working for the first time exclusively on an eight track tape
machine (Richardson), their mastery of the studio was undeniable, and Abbey Road still holds its fresh
and exciting appeal nearly forty seven years later. Following the turbulent recording sessions for The
Beatles and Let It Be, longtime producer George Martin was through with the Beatles. He eventually
agreed to work with them again after Paul McCartney pleaded with him, but only on the condition that
Martin would be in complete control in the studio, just like in the old days (Lifton). The producer
would later describe Abbey Road as a happy record... because everybody thought it was going to be
the last (Jones). Abbey Road marked the band s going back to working together more like they used
to, but as the people they had now become in 1969; however, like the band themselves coming back
together, the songs on Abbey Road didn t immediately fall into place; they were the product of much
idiosyncratic Beatles brainstorming an activity one part music hall comedy improv (Jones),

Anatomy And Physiology With A Related Disorder
Integumentary System: Anatomy and Physiology with a related disorder
The integumentary system is an organ that is made of the skin, nails, hair, and the exocrine glands.
The skin is the largest organ in the human body. The skin covers the outer body forming a protective
barrier from chemicals, disease, UV light, and physical damage. Hair and nails both develop from the
skin to protects us from environmental damages. The integumentary has four main types of glands that
excrete sweat, oil, wax, and milk. (Skin) The integumentary system can develop disorders or diseases.
An example of a disorder would be skin cancer.
The Integumentary system is used for four main functions such as thermoregulation, protection,

The Dermis is separated by two main layers called the superficial layer and the deep layer. The
superficial layer consists of looser areolar connective tissue and the deep layer consists of dense
irregular connective tissue. Dermal cells have four main cells types called fibroblast cells, macrophage
cells, adipocyte cells, and mast cells. The most interesting cell to me are the mast cells. Mast cells
release two chemicals called Histamine and heparin. Histamine increases blood flow that relaxes
smooth muscle. Heparin is a blood thinner that increases capillary diffusion. (Tabor)
The epidermal Layer consists of 5 strata layers called the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum
granulosum, stratum lucidum, and the stratum corneum. The stratum basale contains two cells called
the keratinocytes and melanocytes. Keratinocytes produce keratin and melanocytes produce melanin.
Melanin is only found in the epidermis and it protects the body from UV rays. The stratum spinosum
has tons of layers of keratinocytes. The deepest spinosum layer can undergo mitosis, pushing more
keratinocytes toward the surface (Tabor). The stratum granulosum has cells that contain an oily
substance. This oil substance waterproofs the skins and prevents the skin from dehydrating. Stratum
Lucidum cells have no nuclei or organelles. The stratum corneum

Integrated Criteria Decision Making And Multi Criteria...
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Research Report CS6705 Prioritized Multi Criteria Decision
Making and Multi Criteria Aggregation By Rizwan Umaid Ali Student # 3494784 Multi Criteria
decision making (MCDM) is an area of Artificial Intelligence which provides capabilities to assess
complex decision problems. The decisions can depend on our preferences of some criteria over others.
In this report, we analyze formulations of MCDM and Multi Criteria Aggregation. To further
understand this, we also see how we calculate prioritized measure of Multi Criteria Aggregation and
its Shapley index. Introduction For a modern application, reaching satisfaction can depend upon
several criteria. Each criteria in it can be satisfied to reach an optimal result, but in real world
scenarios satisfying every criteria is impossible and even not required. For example, if a bill needs to
be passed by an executive committee, we will need only half of the committee s approval to pass it.
This leads us to think that we can reach satisfaction with any set of members of the committee. In fact,
there are several cases where certain criteria have a higher priority than others and satisfaction cannot
be reached without them. For instance, if the president of the executive committee has to approve the
bill and other members just have to favour it, then the president will dominate the other criteria. To
logically state this we can say Satisfy criterion A and if possible satisfy criterion B . We

Disadvantages Of Zero Based Budgeting
Question 4 :Zero Based Budgeting
Zero Based Budgeting
Zero based budgeting (ZBB) was developed in the United States in the early 1960s by Peter Pyrrh
working at Texas Instruments in an attempt to overcome the limitations of additional techniques. It
presumes that budgets can be converted back from first principles IE from a zero based and focuses on
programs and activities rather than departments or units.
Jones and Pendlebury were defined as follows:
Zero based budgeting in its purest form is exactly what the name implies; preparation of operating
budgets of a zero based, although the organization may work more or less as in previous years, the
budget process assumes that it is a new beginning.
The procedure is normally connected to new administrations that genuinely are constructed from a
zero base. Moreover, zero based planning can be connected to subjective pioneers, for example, ...

Allegory In Narnia Chronicles, Third, Polly And Digory
Books are basic. They are something that someone writes and we read right? Not quite. Most of the
time there are deeper meanings than just what is on the surface. The other part of the book. Typically
this occurs in fantasy/fiction books. Never in non fiction or books like that. Reading fantasy is always
an adventure. It can take you places that nothing else can. It is even better, if there is an entirely
different part to it; a deeper meaning. These are known as allegories. The definition from
dictionary.com says an allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden
meaning, typically a moral or political one. They are retellings of historical stories in a more
understandable sense. In the Narnia Chronicles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two show that we all mess up. We always do and always will, that is just what comes with being
human. They show potential though. Both of their hearts are in the right place. Same thing with most
humans. Exactly as he spoke, Polly s hand went out to touch one of the rings. And immediately,
without a flash or a noise or a warning of any sort, there was no Polly. (Page 17). They were both
tempted to touch the rings without knowing what would happen next to either of them if they did.
Uncle Andrew made it sound like a good idea to touch it but it turned out to be a terrible one. This is
what happens with satan s ideas all of the time. Also, like in the Garden Eve was tempted by Satan.
You see friends, that before the new, clean world I gave you is seven years old, a force of evil has
already entered it; waked and brought hither by this son of Adam. But do not cast down, Evil will
come of that evil, but it is still a long way off, and I will see to it that the worst falls upon myself
(Page 148) Pretty soon after it was created, sin entered the land of Narnia. Same thing with the Earth.
Within the first week there was already sin and evil. Digory accidently rings the bell and awakens the
evil in Jadis. She awakens and is pure evil. This makes him human because likewise, Adam does the
same and really makes satan who he is by taking the bite of the apple. It is only right that they mess up
though. They are human like we are and it is in our nature to sin. C.S. Lewis makes these two people
relatable to us through their nature and how they act. I feel as if I were in the same situation with
them, I would do pretty much the same thing as

Martha Stewart Ethical Behavior
Introduction
Martha Stewart is an American Home decorator Icon surrounded by accusations of Inside trading,
Obstruction of justice, False statements and Conspiracy. Her trial and investigation lasted for two
years ending with her being found guilty of charges and convicted to spend time in jail, home arrest
and probation. In this work I will expose Martha Stewart s behavior and why her actions were
considered outlaw, unethical and unprofessional. I will also explain which ethical behavior she used
and how that affects her image, financial status, social position, fame and followers.
But who is Martha Stewart and what is her background? I personally didn t know who Martha Stewart

The Security and Exchange Commission is the organization who monitors fraudulent transactions and
insider trading. Some experts in ethical behavior consider inside trading the most dramatic form of
utilitarian ethics.
Martha s Ethical Behavior
Since 2002 Martha Stewart was investigated by the SEC and the FBI for Inside Trading but it is
interesting that she wasn t found guilty or accused on any of those charges; she was charge for
conspiracy, obstruction of justice and false statement. It was her un ethical behavior what drove her
into innumerable allegations and public embarrassments. There are at least four issues in this case
where ethics play a very interesting and critical role; Freedom of speech, Conspiracy, Right of
property and Inside trading.
1. Freedom of Speech
When Martha Stewart was accused the first problem presented was the Media and how her case was
going to be handled. Martha s Stewart lawyer Robert Morvillo along with Martha s publicist and show
producers orchestrated a plan to keep Martha s image as clean and honest as possible. They didn t
waste time by using the media, Martha s TV show and Magazine to defend her position and
manipulate the public opinion towards Martha s innocence. It is clear that in court previous
information and announcements of her innocence will create in the future juror s minds the reasonable
doubt needed to find her innocent. The judge immediately imposed a gag order to control the flow of
information and to avoid

Subjective Reality in Anne Carson s Autobiography of Red...
Subjective Reality in Anne Carson s Autobiography of Red
Anne Carson s Autobiography of Red is a world of subjective reality. Carson explores the relationship
between subject and object through a reworking of an original Greek myth. The original myth is of
Herakles, who s tenth labor was to kill Geryon, a red winged monster who lived on an island, and steal
his cattle. Carson takes the insignificant character of Geryon and creates a story based on his life, as if
set in modern times. Autobiography of Red enters a world of ambiguity, where all objects are
challenged and made into subjects. Geryon is the subject of Autobiography of Red. The title alone
delineates the fact that Geryon writes this story about himself. It is ... Show more content on

Although Geryon is making a waste of a fairly significant amount of money, his mother does not stop
him. He creates his autobiography as he wants it and on his own terms. Geryon is not being objectified
in his autobiography by being told how to create it. Geryon truly writes his own autobiography.
Geryon is a subjective character. He is removed from the rest of the world and is therefore not subject
to its reality. He is subject only to his own. This is immediately apparent through the fact that he is red
and has wings. Geryon is the only character in the novel who is physically different from the others. It
is not a feasible idea to have a person who is red and has wings. This makes him a subjective character
because he is unlike the rest and challenges the convention of the typical human character. Even the
reality of a corridor is a completely different reality for Geryon: Between Main Door and
Kindergarten ran a corridor. To Geryon it was / a hundred thousand miles / of thunder tunnels and
indoor neon sky slammed open by giants. (24). What is for most a simple corridor is extremely
terrifying for Geryon. The objective reality of the corridor as merely a walkway between the main
door and kindergarten becomes a subjective reality to Geryon when he

Brunelleschi s Influence To The Renaissance
In 1418, the town fathers of Florence realized they had to face a major problem. Il Duomo, the
cathedral that was built to best all others, was missing its roof. This cathedral had been constructed in
1296 to commemorate Florence s new status as one of the most prosperous cities in Europe. The
cathedral would serve as a symbol of this new Florence. The town fathers had a vision of a colossal
dome that would rise to the heavens without support, pulling one s attention upwards. The only
obstacle was that the technology at the time could not accommodate a dome of the scale as planned,
with a diameter of 180 feet. A competition was announced with the prize of 200 florins, which was
more than a craftsman s two year wage at the time.

His biggest influence was most likely founding architecture as a separate and unique branch of art.
This established architects as more than just laborers and helped raise their status. Architects and other
artists in general received more credit for their work. Another similarly important influence
Brunelleschi had was popularizing the classical style by visiting and examining the ruins of Rome.
This helped repair the disintegrated reputation of Rome. This also established a new idea of beauty
that was achieved through harmony, symmetry and abiding by classical rules and styles. These rules
helped some artists to create individuality and to experience greater artistic freedom. Brunelleschi s
creation of new machinery was still impactful, but less so than the others. This revolutionary
technology ignited a new reliance on science and technology until the point where math and the arts
were inseparably intertwined. Brunelleschi s construction of the dome of Il Duomo clearly shaped the
Renaissance by raising the status of artists and architects, reviving the classical style and creating a
symbiosis of the arts and

How Does Macbeth Become Evil
In William Shakespeare s famous play, Macbeth, the main character Macbeth is a man who has many
characteristic traits within him. He shows ambition, bravery, self doubt and has a small trait known as
evil. Evil is what urges people to damage either someone or something. In the beginning of the play
Macbeth was known as being a hero after winning the war for Scotland. He was known as the Brave
Macbeth and a Worthy Gentlemen. A great warrior like Macbeth was later badly equipped for the
mental consequences of crime. Macbeth s flaws of becoming evil was due to Lady Macbeth, the three
witches, and his action. Lady Macbeth is the main reason Macbeth starts to become evil. She becomes

I . . . I m afraid . . . They ll break . . . my violin . . . I . . . I brought it with me. This quote shows that
the violin is very important to Juliek. Juliek brought his violin with him because it s like his hope, it s

Mixed Martial Arts And Mixed Martial Arts
People have been beating the shit out of each other for sport since the dawn of man. In America it
seems that generally people really enjoy a good fight whether it s a controlled fight that they paid to
see or two people got rowdy in a bar. I get why people are into mixed martial arts or just martial arts in
general. It teaches you discipline and respect for knowing how to use your body as a weapon. With my
limited knowledge of the MMA, it seems like a lot of fighters are pretty level headed guys no matter
how many punches they take to the face. I get it, it s great fun to to rough house with a friend, but I
really don t see the point of fighting just to be a violent asshole. I get doing it for sport, because it s
two hopefully sober people who agreed to fight each other where as that might not be the case in a
street fight. Now I ve never met a professional cage fighter before but I have had a few chats with
amateur ones and it was interested to say the least.
When I was younger my friends thought it would be a good idea to make me the lead singer of the
band the band they started just on the other side of Portland Oregon. Being a 15 year old I thought it
was an amazing idea, but since I couldn t drive yet I had to take a three hour train ride from Seattle to
Portland every time we wanted to get together to practice. I really feel as if the train is a great way to
travel and get to know people, because train folk are usually a pretty friendly bunch. It was a couple

Tigers Child Essay
The book quot; The Tiger s Child quot; is about a woman named Torey Hayden and one of her
students, Sheila. Torey is a teacher for disabled children. When Sheila was six years old she was sent
to the school where Torey was working. Sheila had a very harsh childhood. At the age of four she was
abandoned by her 18 year old mother on a highway late at night. A year or so later, She was sent to
live with her father in a migrant camp. While she was there, she was abused by her uncle and her
father s friends. Sheila had awful personal hygiene and little schooling, although she was very bright.

her father were gone, she received a letter from her saying she was going to commit suicide. Before
Torey read the letter she had been on a two week trip so the letter was two weeks old. There was

Sheila told her that she wanted to find her mother. She had placed a few ads in newspapers in

The effectiveness of banana stem juice as a natural coagulant for treatment of turbid water was
investigated. The main parameter studied was Turbidity. Coagulation experiments using jar test was
performed with a flocculation system where the effects of Turbid Water pH, Retention time as well as
Dosage of Banana Stem Juice on coagulation was examined. A Three Level Factorial Design in
Response Surface Methodology (RSM) using Design Expert software was applied in the model
analysis. Consequently, most of the actual and predicted values closely agreed with various regression
coefficients. The characteristics of the Turbid water was determined with TSS at 222 mg/L, turbidity
at 143 NTU and COD at 89.36 mg/L, BOD at 44.68 mg/L, DO1 at 11.7 mg/L, DO5 at 6.93 mg/L, pH
at 7, Temperature at 27.3°C. Turbidity reduction using Banana Stem Juice was achieved at pH 6.5

Daniel Choe
Student from University of Utah
United States stradius101@gmail.com Abstract This paper discusses plagiarism and its many dire
consequences in the realm of the computer science academia as well as the software industry.
I. INTRODUCTION
Plagiarism is an issue that cannot be taken likely both in the academia and the software industry. The
consequences of plagiarism are widespread and the issues that follow can be personal, professional,
ethical, financial and legal. Plagiarism is not only destructive to the individual who committed the
infraction, but can also be damaging to one s teammates, company, educational institution, as well as
possibly thousands or millions who rely on the software. As a result, it is important to iterate the
severe consequences as well as the negative impacts that can and will occur from plagiarism to
increase prevention of such cases as well as to properly understand what is considered to be an
infraction and to take care of avoiding infractions.
II. ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT IN THE ACADEMIA
A. Background
The number of students enrolled in computer science courses have never been higher. This trend is
most likely attributed to the field s job prospects as well as the realization of the importance in
understanding computer science in this modern tech era.
Unfortunately, the number of students caught cheating in computer science courses is

The Flintstones vs The Simpsons Every media text goes through the process of construction and
reflects culture, social values and issues, generalised views, attitudes, and beliefs concerning the
period of construction. No matter what time and place become the preset of the story, TV shows
portray the modern state of society. The Flintstones and The Simpsons series are two animated stories
about families and the community they live in. Two main characteristics of the shows that allow the
audience to reveal the depth of the messages in both shows are animation and family. The first point
lets the directors turn into reality the wildest twists of the plot aimed at highlighting the issues. The
latter exemplifies the unit of society where social issues become a daily experience. Obviously, the
difference in the time of production distinguishes fundamental differences of lifestyles and problems

Importance Of Solar Power
Solar Power This paper is going to be based on why should we use solar energy, how does it work,
what are the advantages of solar power, and why should we apply solar power in the Dominican
Republic. Did you know that the heat of the sun is about equivalent to burning a billion trillion tons of
coal an hour? Even though only a small fraction of that heat ever reaches the earth is still more than
enough to power up our whole planet. We are very certain that we have all heard about the terms fossil
fuels, greenhouse gases, and global warming. Have you ever asked yourself what are going to be the
consequences if nothing is done about our environmental problems facing our world today? What

The IEA (International Energy Agency) predicted in 2014 that in 2050, solar power will be around
27% of electricity consumption around the world (16 from PV, 11 from CSP). It was also predicted
that solar power would be the biggest source of energy worldwide, and the most and biggest solar
power installations would be in China and India. Solar power technologies started developing in mid
1860s when the scarcity of coal was beginning to be a concern to people. However in early 20th
century solar power would cease to flow due to the economy and the utility of coal and petroleum.
The use of solar power is being more visible and popular across the world by annum. Just to give a
perspective, in 1974 about only 6 homes in the United States were entirely heated or cooled by solar
power. However, it was predicted that by the end of 2016 around one million homes in the United
States will be fully solar powered. The cost of installation of solar converters is one of the major
issues for the society. Due to high costs of installation, lots of people don t even consider have a solar
source installed. However, people don t usually go into deep analysis, but if you do get into it, you can
notice that, yes, it is expensive to install, but the electric bills will immediately drop, making this
innovation totally worth the investment. Solar power is a fully renewable source of power which does

Similarities And Differences Between 1984 And Never Let Me Go
Compare and Contrast the extent in which the governments in 1984 and Never Let Me Go Many of
my memories come from my garden in Luxembourg. My friends and I would often play a game called
Bakery, which meant mashing up berries and leaves found in the garden and sprinkling them upon
pats of mud. We took the roles of poor chefs who earned their livings selling baked goods, uprooting
peculiar weeds and picking brightly coloured flowers to decorate these cakes . Of course now, this

Jane E. Wilson And Fanny Fern
Pride is a broad character trait that has both positives and negatives associated with it. The way one
goes about confronting the hurdles in their life determines how others will perceive them. The wrong
kind of pride can have serious negative ramifications on one s life. While not a hard and fast rule,
often characters of lower class tend to be written to show positive pride and work through their
struggles, while the people of a higher class show a negative pride that limits the before mentioned
characters associated with a lower class. Through their writing, Harriet E. Wilson and Fanny Fern
exhibit a myriad of levels of pride exemplified by various characters, in their books, Our Nig or,
Sketches from the Life of a Free Black and Ruth Hall: A Domestic Tale of the Present Time,
respectively. In Harriet E. Wilson s book, Our Nig, there are two opposing types of pride that are
present throughout the book. The positive character of Frado, the young mulatto, is much different
than that of Mrs. Bellmont s negative pride, however the two are dependent upon each other. As Mrs.
Bellmont is a privileged, white woman, Frado is a helpless, indentured servant to the Bellmont family.
It is this whiteness, this superiority over the colored, which fuels Mrs. Bellmont s hate and abuse
toward young Frado. In the historical timeframe, even though Frado is considered a free black, she
owns no property. As Philip Gould states in his discussion of class, property is both evidence

Relevance Of Transcendentalism

Transcendentalist movement are still relevant to today s world (and if so, how, and if not, why not).
You may choose to focus on one of the three thematic categories we ve discussed (Importance of Self

but I recommend you narrow your focus. American Transcendentalism was an important philosophical

Emerson claims, To believe your own thought...that is genius...A man should learn to detect and watch

While trying to tie the ideas of being herself and having an impact on society just as Emerson
encouraged, Lady Gaga decided to wear a meat dress that was rather a powerful political statement,
rather than just another attention grabbing outfit. Lady Gaga urged the US military not to discriminate
against gay men and lesbians from serving in the army (Mapes). She stated that the law prevents the

preachings of Emerson that state, where there is no path then leave a trail, she was accused of animal
abuse and being disrespectful towards vegetarians and vegans despite being a vegan herself (6). She
was persecuted continuously until she gave the statement on her reasoning behind the meat dress.
Although Lady Gaga did stand firm in what she believed in, there was more negative backlash than
support for her movement. Emerson predicted the situation Lady Gaga was in when he said, for

Just War Theory and the Movie Glory
Movie Review The Just War Theory and Glory RS 289 WB Religion, War Peace Glory is a movie that
reenacts the formation of the first Negro infantry, the 54th Massachusetts, during the Civil War. Led
by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, the volunteer Massachusetts infantry endured grueling training and
strict discipline. Under his watchful eye, they slowly transformed from being wild and unruly to
proud, courageous, and patriotic soldiers. Although the North believed in the abolition of slavery,
many Northerners still thought the Negro to be inferior to the White race and did not believe they
could fight as well. They were soon to be proven wrong. When the moment of battle came upon the

Many thousands of lives would have been saved. Also, bringing some industry to the South would
have created jobs and empowered the South with a more stabilized economy like the North had. This
could have prevented the succession of the South from the Union. In my opinion, the North had a
reasonable chance of success because it had industry which meant more wealth than the South
enjoyed. The wealth allowed them to manufacture more artillery and ammunition needed to win a war.
As shown in the movie, officers had lavish parties in wealthy homes and even used watermelons for
sword practice. Watermelons are usually grown in the warmer climate of the South where there was
more poverty. I doubt very much the Southerners would have wasted watermelons on sword practice
as many tended to be poor. All of this does not mean the American Civil War was proportional. In fact,
I don t believe it was. When Fort Wayne was attacked in the movie, Glory , almost half of the Union
soldiers perished in that battle. They were sitting ducks, running to the slaughter. The goal of freeing
slaves or not freeing slaves was NOT worth the gain of killing more enemy soldiers than the opposing
side and the destruction of thousands upon thousands of men. Lastly, noncombatant immunity was not
practiced during the Civil War as portrayed in the movie, Glory when Southern property was attacked

The General Function Of A Female Slave
A slave was then basically anyone who was not white, but color was forced to have a master in which
all of the commands that came out of their mouths definitely would have to be done by a slave. Many
times they were treated badly and none of the slaves had a say in anything that they would do. Slaves
had no rights at all and they were considered basically nothing or a piece of property; a property in
which masters could share and buy slaves for themselves. White people who could afford to buy a
slave would. Slaves were mainly used for manual labor. The general function of a female slave was
mainly to do chores, while men, on the other hand grew crops and worked in many other different
things that involved a men s job .
As a young girl who became a slave Biddy Mason can certainly relate to the definition of slave. At a
young age for a long time Biddy was considered as a Black slave woman who was illiterate. In other
words she could not read or write. She worked as a nurse and a midwife and traveled from Mississippi
to California to be able to become a successful businesswoman and a generous contributor to social
causes. Bridgett Biddy Mason was born a slave, August 15, 1818. No one knows the location in which
she was born in, but many people predict that she was born in Georgia, while others predict more
likely she may have been born in Mississippi. Biddy was given the name Bridget without a last name.

Welfare Of The United States
Welfare is a subject of debate in the United States because everyone has a different point of view
when it comes to the Social Security Act. On one side the rich may feel that the government takes
from the rich, and gives to the poor. The poor on the other hand may believe that they are being
forgotten and not helped enough by the government. Are the government financial assistance
programs really working and helping people climb out of poverty or are they creating lazy people who
depend on government assistance too much? Poverty has been an issue of great debate in America for
centuries. Before the Social Security Act was passed, the United States government did not have a
stable plan to help/aid the poor. It was the local governments responsibility to care for their
disadvantaged. Many Americans believe only the poor receive welfare aid or benefits from the
government, they are misguided, because even though welfare is a program who aids the poor it also
helps most Americas in one way or another. Also, welfare helps big name corporations by giving them
government funding for research he also gives them loans, grants, and tax breaks. In 2015 it was the
eightieth year anniversary since President Theodore Roosevelt passed The Social Security Act law,
and the problem has gotten worse not better. The purpose for this act was to help the unemployed or
underemployed during the great depression. However, it extended to the poor through a variety of
programs. In Addition, the

Clayton County Population Health Case Study
Among all the factors that are attributed to population health, the environment is perhaps the greatest.
It is common knowledge in public health that if the physical environment is unhealthy, so is the
population that live there. Even though the many of the environmental issues are being addressed by
the State and County authorities, Clayton County is experiencing a slow rate of change. While the air
pollution particulate matter is declining, it is currently at 13.2, which is higher than the national
average of 9.5, and the 12.8 for the state s average.2 In addition, this county has drinking water
violations and severe housing problems. As a result of these and other environmental issues, Clayton
County ended up with a county ranking of 159 out of 159.1 This is not a good thing for the population

As with the environment, this health factor is also a great indicator of the health status of a population,
because if babies are not being born or are dying prematurely, this can have long term economic
consequences and population decline. Therefore, it is paramount that much efforts are put into
lowering infant mortality rates According to State of Health Report, Clayton County ranked high in
infant mortality in the State of Georgia. In addition, it ranked highly in premature births and low birth
weight. The most current data show the infant mortality rate to be 9.2, premature birth at 11.0 percent,
and low birth weight at 10.4 percent among all ages and races.6 These disparities are much greater
among the various age group and race. Because the issue of maternal and child health is such a major
factor in the overall health of the population of Clayton County, the focus will be centered on the

  • 2. The Instrument Used For Measure Temperature Is A Thermometer The instrument used to measure temperature is a thermometer. There are many types of thermometers; the most common consist of a closed, graduated glass tube in which a liquid expands or contracts as the temperature increases or decreases. Many different types of thermometers work by detecting changes in the volume or pressure of an enclosed gas or by registering thermoelectric changes in a conductor (such as a thermistor or thermocouple). Galen, a Greek scientist and doctor made the first attempt at measuring temperature. Central idea of the paper : The measurement of body temperature may be helpful for monitoring whether a person is ill, or whether treatment is working. The body temperature is controlled by hypothalamus, a small part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fluoroscopic are very sensitive to temperature ranges limited by the properties, signal intensity is weak at low temperatures. In theoretical background OFT, the entire spectral distribution is based on planck s radiation and the Boltzman constant. The elements which help in configuring the blackbody OFT ate an optical signal generator, an optical signal transmitting system and an detecting system. This have so many advantages such as high accuracy, intrinsic immunity to the EM inference and long lifetime. The disadvantage is it gives scattering loss to the fiber and optical losses due to the couplers. To some extent, dual band compensation is better to solve this issue but the sensor is sensitive as a single band system. So, an improved method was proposed by Zhang, Tong inorder to lessen the light path effect and the temperature calibration. Coming to the applications of Blackbody OFTs, it have been proved to be very successful in measuring high temperatures in metals, production of glasses, Boiler burner flames, tube temperatures, and in critical turbine areas. This can be used in all types of furnaces, paper making, food processing, fusion, sputtering, crystal growth processes in semiconductor industry. Non Contact Infrared Thermometers Fluorescence Based OFT: An infrared thermometer is a type in which it infers temperature from a portion of the thermal radiation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Canadian Progressive Rock Band Rush Books, movies, paintings, music, and other types of art are connected in various ways, but one connection seems to stand out. All art mediums are constructed in a way that disallows a median to be reached regarding one s opinion from another. If a group of people favors one thing, another group most likely exists that has the opposite, or conflicting opinion. 2112, read Twenty one twelve, is a 7 part conceptual album by the Canadian progressive rock band Rush, illustrates this conflict in its main plot. Regardless of its vivid storytelling and impactful instrumentals that glues everything together, it is evident that each listener will break apart in terms of their personal opinions. 2112, much like in Anthem by Ayn Rand, the dystopic idea of equality and how everyone should cherish their unique identities that they possess. The main character, named Anonymous, retaliates against the idea by not conforming to what is expected by the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx , but the factor driving him ultimately was the will to venture outward and appreciate something that seemingly no one else sees. The conversation between Anonymous, and the priest during IV. Presentation , separates light from dark. Anonymous, after discovering a guitar that the Elder race of man left, speaks out to share his opinions. I can t believe you re saying / These things just can t be true / Our world could use this beauty / Just think what we might do (Rush, IV. Presentation). Anonymous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Unbalance Between Beetles And Conifers Marked by its swampy woodlands the boreal forest biome is located in the northern part of Canada and Russia. Evidently, the boreal forest ecosystem is comprised of many different species such as wolf, lynx, moose, hare, marten, conifer, and grass (Biome Explorer, 2012). Unfortunately, global warming is a scenario that could cause the genetic diversity of the boreal forest population to be severely damaged. For example, if this biome were to experience an increase in temperature it would positively impact bark beetles causing outbreaks which in turn becomes detrimental to the trees within this ecosystem such as the conifers. Therefore, global warming would cause unbalance between the bark beetles and the conifers, since the increase of bark ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of The Beatles Abbey Road Four Beatles in a row, crossing the black and white zebra crossing on Abbey Road, one so serious looking, one barefoot and smoking, one simply looking to keep up with his friends and the fourth in white, hands in pocket and his face swathed in hair compose the cover art of their last recorded album, Abbey Road . The album shows a band still clearly in its prime, capable of songwriting and recording feats that other groups could only envy. Working for the first time exclusively on an eight track tape machine (Richardson), their mastery of the studio was undeniable, and Abbey Road still holds its fresh and exciting appeal nearly forty seven years later. Following the turbulent recording sessions for The Beatles and Let It Be, longtime producer George Martin was through with the Beatles. He eventually agreed to work with them again after Paul McCartney pleaded with him, but only on the condition that Martin would be in complete control in the studio, just like in the old days (Lifton). The producer would later describe Abbey Road as a happy record... because everybody thought it was going to be the last (Jones). Abbey Road marked the band s going back to working together more like they used to, but as the people they had now become in 1969; however, like the band themselves coming back together, the songs on Abbey Road didn t immediately fall into place; they were the product of much idiosyncratic Beatles brainstorming an activity one part music hall comedy improv (Jones), ... The superficial layer consists of looser areolar connective tissue and the deep layer consists of dense irregular connective tissue. Mast cells release two chemicals called Histamine and heparin. Histamine increases blood flow that relaxes smooth muscle. Heparin is a blood thinner that increases capillary diffusion. (Tabor) The epidermal Layer consists of 5 strata layers called the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and the stratum corneum. The stratum basale contains two cells called the keratinocytes and melanocytes. Keratinocytes produce keratin and melanocytes produce melanin. Melanin is only found in the epidermis and it protects the body from UV rays. The stratum spinosum has tons of layers of keratinocytes. The deepest spinosum layer can undergo mitosis, pushing more keratinocytes toward the surface (Tabor). The stratum granulosum has cells that contain an oily substance. • 10. Integrated Criteria Decision Making And Multi Criteria... Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Research Report CS6705 Prioritized Multi Criteria Decision Making and Multi Criteria Aggregation By Rizwan Umaid Ali Student # 3494784 Multi Criteria decision making (MCDM) is an area of Artificial Intelligence which provides capabilities to assess complex decision problems. The decisions can depend on our preferences of some criteria over others. In this report, we analyze formulations of MCDM and Multi Criteria Aggregation. To further understand this, we also see how we calculate prioritized measure of Multi Criteria Aggregation and its Shapley index. Introduction For a modern application, reaching satisfaction can depend upon several criteria. Each criteria in it can be satisfied to reach an optimal result, but in real world scenarios satisfying every criteria is impossible and even not required. For example, if a bill needs to be passed by an executive committee, we will need only half of the committee s approval to pass it. This leads us to think that we can reach satisfaction with any set of members of the committee. In fact, there are several cases where certain criteria have a higher priority than others and satisfaction cannot be reached without them. For instance, if the president of the executive committee has to approve the bill and other members just have to favour it, then the president will dominate the other criteria. Disadvantages Of Zero Based Budgeting Question 4 :Zero Based Budgeting Zero Based Budgeting Zero based budgeting (ZBB) was developed in the United States in the early 1960s by Peter Pyrrh working at Texas Instruments in an attempt to overcome the limitations of additional techniques. It presumes that budgets can be converted back from first principles IE from a zero based and focuses on programs and activities rather than departments or units. Jones and Pendlebury were defined as follows: Zero based budgeting in its purest form is exactly what the name implies; preparation of operating budgets of a zero based, although the organization may work more or less as in previous years, the budget process assumes that it is a new beginning. The procedure is normally connected to new administrations that genuinely are constructed from a zero base. Moreover, zero based planning can be connected to subjective pioneers, for example, ... • 12. Allegory In Narnia Chronicles, Third, Polly And Digory Books are basic. They are something that someone writes and we read right? Not quite. Most of the time there are deeper meanings than just what is on the surface. The other part of the book. Typically this occurs in fantasy/fiction books. Never in non fiction or books like that. Reading fantasy is always an adventure. It can take you places that nothing else can. It is even better, if there is an entirely different part to it; a deeper meaning. These are known as allegories. The definition from dictionary.com says an allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one. They were both tempted to touch the rings without knowing what would happen next to either of them if they did. Uncle Andrew made it sound like a good idea to touch it but it turned out to be a terrible one. This is what happens with satan s ideas all of the time. Also, like in the Garden Eve was tempted by Satan. You see friends, that before the new, clean world I gave you is seven years old, a force of evil has already entered it; waked and brought hither by this son of Adam. But do not cast down, Evil will come of that evil, but it is still a long way off, and I will see to it that the worst falls upon myself (Page 148) Pretty soon after it was created, sin entered the land of Narnia. Same thing with the Earth. Within the first week there was already sin and evil. Digory accidently rings the bell and awakens the evil in Jadis. She awakens and is pure evil. This makes him human because likewise, Adam does the same and really makes satan who he is by taking the bite of the apple. It is only right that they mess up though. They are human like we are and it is in our nature to sin. C.S. Lewis makes these two people relatable to us through their nature and how they act. There are at least four issues in this case where ethics play a very interesting and critical role; Freedom of speech, Conspiracy, Right of property and Inside trading. 1. Freedom of Speech When Martha Stewart was accused the first problem presented was the Media and how her case was going to be handled. Martha s Stewart lawyer Robert Morvillo along with Martha s publicist and show producers orchestrated a plan to keep Martha s image as clean and honest as possible. They didn t waste time by using the media, Martha s TV show and Magazine to defend her position and manipulate the public opinion towards Martha s innocence. Il Duomo, the cathedral that was built to best all others, was missing its roof. This cathedral had been constructed in 1296 to commemorate Florence s new status as one of the most prosperous cities in Europe. The cathedral would serve as a symbol of this new Florence. The town fathers had a vision of a colossal dome that would rise to the heavens without support, pulling one s attention upwards. The only obstacle was that the technology at the time could not accommodate a dome of the scale as planned, with a diameter of 180 feet. This also established a new idea of beauty that was achieved through harmony, symmetry and abiding by classical rules and styles. These rules helped some artists to create individuality and to experience greater artistic freedom. Brunelleschi s creation of new machinery was still impactful, but less so than the others. This revolutionary technology ignited a new reliance on science and technology until the point where math and the arts were inseparably intertwined. As children, our imaginations generate flawless worlds. After she leaves Hailsham, Ruth s dimension deviated from the path her society set. Her aspiration of working in an office with gleaming equipment and chair with swivels and castors opposes the reality of subsequent organ donations that lies ahead of her (p28). Her fate is inevitable, and as she leaves her childhood behind, she begins to accept that her dream was unrealistic. In fact, all Hailsham s children desire a successful career. But Miss Lucy shatters their hope by telling them that none of [them] will go to America or work in supermarkets (p20). Without dreams present, Ruth loses a part of her humanity. Similarly, Winston s image of perfection is a life where he could defy the rules of the Party and the constant surveillance of the telescreen. The Golden Country allows him to visualise that world. With its grace and carelessness it seemed as though Big Brother and the Party could all be swept into nothingness (p36). However the Thought Police crushes any signs of thoughtcrime that could be a potential threat to its power. • 33. Jane E. Wilson And Fanny Fern Pride is a broad character trait that has both positives and negatives associated with it. The way one goes about confronting the hurdles in their life determines how others will perceive them. The wrong kind of pride can have serious negative ramifications on one s life. While not a hard and fast rule, often characters of lower class tend to be written to show positive pride and work through their struggles, while the people of a higher class show a negative pride that limits the before mentioned characters associated with a lower class. Through their writing, Harriet E. Wilson and Fanny Fern exhibit a myriad of levels of pride exemplified by various characters, in their books, Our Nig or, Sketches from the Life of a Free Black and Ruth Hall: A Domestic Tale of the Present Time, respectively. In Harriet E. Wilson s book, Our Nig, there are two opposing types of pride that are present throughout the book. The positive character of Frado, the young mulatto, is much different than that of Mrs. Bellmont s negative pride, however the two are dependent upon each other. As Mrs. Bellmont is a privileged, white woman, Frado is a helpless, indentured servant to the Bellmont family. It is this whiteness, this superiority over the colored, which fuels Mrs. Bellmont s hate and abuse toward young Frado. In the historical timeframe, even though Frado is considered a free black, she owns no property. As Philip Gould states in his discussion of class, property is both evidence ... • 34. Relevance Of Transcendentalism Topic/prompt: Based on what you ve read, argue whether the ideas generated from the Transcendentalist movement are still relevant to today s world (and if so, how, and if not, why not). You may choose to focus on one of the three thematic categories we ve discussed (Importance of Self Reliance, Value of Simplicity, or Illusion of Progress) or you may create your own thematic category but I recommend you narrow your focus. American Transcendentalism was an important philosophical and literary movement which placed an emphasis on staying true to one s beliefs and expressing oneself no matter the situation or consequence. Emerson claims, To believe your own thought...that is genius...A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the luster of the firmament of bards and sages (14). In this quote, he states that we must be able to detect and live by what we believe and trust our own thoughts as we contain all the amount of wisdom needed to live and succeed. While trying to tie the ideas of being herself and having an impact on society just as Emerson encouraged, Lady Gaga decided to wear a meat dress that was rather a powerful political statement, rather than just another attention grabbing outfit. Lady Gaga urged the US military not to discriminate against gay men and lesbians from serving in the army (Mapes). She stated that the law prevents the military from enjoying the greatest cut of meat my country has to offer (Morano). By following the preachings of Emerson that state, where there is no path then leave a trail, she was accused of animal abuse and being disrespectful towards vegetarians and vegans despite being a vegan herself (6). She was persecuted continuously until she gave the statement on her reasoning behind the meat dress. Although Lady Gaga did stand firm in what she believed in, there was more negative backlash than support for her movement. Just War Theory and the Movie Glory Movie Review The Just War Theory and Glory RS 289 WB Religion, War Peace Glory is a movie that reenacts the formation of the first Negro infantry, the 54th Massachusetts, during the Civil War. Led by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, the volunteer Massachusetts infantry endured grueling training and strict discipline. Under his watchful eye, they slowly transformed from being wild and unruly to proud, courageous, and patriotic soldiers. Although the North believed in the abolition of slavery, many Northerners still thought the Negro to be inferior to the White race and did not believe they could fight as well. They were soon to be proven wrong. When the moment of battle came upon the 54th at Fort Wayne, SC, they fought with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many thousands of lives would have been saved. Also, bringing some industry to the South would have created jobs and empowered the South with a more stabilized economy like the North had. This could have prevented the succession of the South from the Union. In my opinion, the North had a reasonable chance of success because it had industry which meant more wealth than the South enjoyed. The wealth allowed them to manufacture more artillery and ammunition needed to win a war. As shown in the movie, officers had lavish parties in wealthy homes and even used watermelons for sword practice. Watermelons are usually grown in the warmer climate of the South where there was more poverty. I doubt very much the Southerners would have wasted watermelons on sword practice as many tended to be poor. All of this does not mean the American Civil War was proportional. In fact, I don t believe it was. When Fort Wayne was attacked in the movie, Glory , almost half of the Union soldiers perished in that battle. They were sitting ducks, running to the slaughter. The goal of freeing slaves or not freeing slaves was NOT worth the gain of killing more enemy soldiers than the opposing side and the destruction of thousands upon thousands of men. Lastly, noncombatant immunity was not practiced during the Civil War as portrayed in the movie, Glory when Southern property was attacked and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The General Function Of A Female Slave A slave was then basically anyone who was not white, but color was forced to have a master in which all of the commands that came out of their mouths definitely would have to be done by a slave. Many times they were treated badly and none of the slaves had a say in anything that they would do. • 38. Welfare Of The United States Welfare is a subject of debate in the United States because everyone has a different point of view when it comes to the Social Security Act. On one side the rich may feel that the government takes from the rich, and gives to the poor. The poor on the other hand may believe that they are being forgotten and not helped enough by the government. Are the government financial assistance programs really working and helping people climb out of poverty or are they creating lazy people who depend on government assistance too much? Poverty has been an issue of great debate in America for centuries. Before the Social Security Act was passed, the United States government did not have a stable plan to help/aid the poor. It was the local governments responsibility to care for their disadvantaged. Many Americans believe only the poor receive welfare aid or benefits from the government, they are misguided, because even though welfare is a program who aids the poor it also helps most Americas in one way or another. Also, welfare helps big name corporations by giving them government funding for research he also gives them loans, grants, and tax breaks. In 2015 it was the eightieth year anniversary since President Theodore Roosevelt passed The Social Security Act law, and the problem has gotten worse not better. The purpose for this act was to help the unemployed or underemployed during the great depression. However, it extended to the poor through a variety of programs. In Addition, the ... It is common knowledge in public health that if the physical environment is unhealthy, so is the population that live there. Florida is the first in the nation with a statewide plan allowing state paid tuition for children in F graded schools to attend private schools or other non failing schools. Opponents claim that giving parents the choice to use state education funds at private schools could end up bankrupting the public education system so many children rely upon.
