Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Essay
The motivating principle behind IDEA was to ensure an equal opportunity for all children. In order to
affect that idea, we have to find a balance between all children s needs. In 1975, came the passage of
the federal Education of All Handicapped Children Act, now revised as the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 1990). For handicapped children, the law was long overdue. The
designers of IDEA saw themselves as progressive reformers, designing fairer, more responsive
schools. The lawmakers were attempting to rectify two historical injustices. First, public schools were
not serving many of the country s eight million handicapped children, with as many as one million
children not attending school. Second, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The IEP would be reviewed and revised annually, and parents would have grievance procedures to
challenge decisions. The law required educators to place handicapped students in general classrooms
whenever possible or in the least restrictive environment. The mandate to provide a free and
appropriate education for children regardless of disability and to provide that education in a regular
classroom whenever possible, effectively striped educators of the authority to transfer or suspend any
student classified as needing special education. This would not have been an issue if it only included
the wheelchair bound or blind students who we typically think of as disabled. However, over the past
few decades, the increasing number of children classified under the disability categories of Learning
Disabled and Emotional Disturbance has shot up. Not so long ago, these children were called
unmanageable or antisocial. Now, part of the definition of emotional disturbance is an inability to
build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers. Often teachers and
principals will refer children with an emotional disturbance to special education classrooms perhaps
because they see the mandated state and federal money, at the very least, as a promise to help the
neglected and damaged population of children beset with social and emotional problems. It could be

The Cost Versus Return Trade Off
CONTEXT
The only thing I ever thought to be in life was to build a business like my father and take it to new
heights. For this reason I have an inclination towards my father s business. So I thought I should make
full use of my MBA and apply the models and concepts I am learning here to our own business.
So the problem I have chosen for my DMD Term Paper is to make optimum utilization of the
resources and get the maximum returns on the money we are investing in our business. The case will
help me determine and understand the cost versus return trade off. The case will help us realise that
what are the maximum benefits we could reap out of our business if we utilise our resources to an
optimal rate. There is a constraint on the costs as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our company manufactures four different formulations of drugs of the same brand name and in the
final part of the manufacturing process there are three major operations namely mixing of salts,
pelletizing and packing and packaging of drugs into strips. For each variant the time required for these
operations is shown below (in minutes) as is the profit per strip sold.
Product Mixing of Salts(min) Pelletizing
(min) Packaging
(min) Profit per product strip(min)
A 2 3 2 1.5
B 4 2 3 2.5
C 3 3 2 3
D 7 4 5 4.5
 As per the current scenario of the labour working in our company, we estimate that, each year, we
have 1,00,000 minutes of mixing, 50,000 minutes of pelletizing time and 60,000 minutes of packaging
time available. How many of each variant should our company make per year and what is the
associated profit?
 Suppose now that we are free to decide how much time to devote to each of the three operations
within the total allowable time. How many of each variant should we make per year and what will be
the associated profit?
Now simply solving the question using common sense: xi be the number of units of product variant i
(i=A,B,C,D) made per year
Tmix be the number of minutes used in mixing per year
Tpel be the number of minutes used in pelletizing per year
Tpac be the number of minutes used in packaging per year
Where xi = 0, i=A,B,C,D and
Tmix, Tpel, Tpac = 0

How Did The Age Of Exploration Cause Social Changes In The...
The time period of 1492 to 1750 was an era of conquest and innovation. Arounnd this time was when
there was more interactions between the Eastern and Western hemispheres of the world. These
interactions had major impacts on the world as a whole at the time, both good and bad. During this
time in the Atlantic world, European dominance and the demand for God, gold, and glory remained
constant, while there were significant social changes in the Native American population and the
attitude that native had towards the Europeans. During this time period, Columbus was exploring the
Atlantic, however, many things stayed constant socially due to European greed. One continuity was

An example of this desire would be how Columbus s initial thought upon meeting the natives was how
they would be servant and were to find their gold. During the time period 1492 to 1750, the Age of
Exploration was occuring causing many things to change socially due to the increased interaction
between the two hemispheres. One changed that occured during this time was the decreasing Native
American population. The reason for this change was largely due to exposure to western diseases that
the natives had not grown used to, and also due to slaughtering and enslavement by the Europeans. An
example of this is when the Arawak Indians were enslaved by the Spaniyards, who would work them
to death and even kill them if they did not do what was asked. Another change was the attitude that the
Native Americans had towards the Europeans. Initially, they were welcoming and even believed the
Europeans were gods, but after a series of unpleasant encounters, this opinion changed. An example of
this would be the backlash from Native Americans who would attack Europeans who attempted to
colonize on their land. This time period was an age of discovery that led to conquest and increased

Pros And Disadvantages Of 3dprinting
According to 3Dprinting.com (n.d.), 3D printing one of the additive manufacturing process by
transforming 3D digital file in to a real solid object and it reach the using of additive processes.
Additive process means creating an object by laying down successive layers of materials, we can see
the sliced horizontal cross section of the corresponding object during the manufacturing process. The
essay is going to discuss about the recent insight of the 3d printing industry base on the seminar that
spoke by Dr. Wendy Lee.
Creative can be at any age, it has no limitation that for being creative. However, many people find out
that, they cannot make their design come to a real product, as they do not have a machine to produce
their design. Therefore, the invention of 3D printing can behave this situation, letting everyone can
design their own and manufacture their own. 3D printing is just simply requiring a computer with
installed of 3D design program and a 3D printer, which is usually a paper printer size. Thus, more and
more people can be a designer, and manufacturing their own products.

The Effects Of Stress On The World
On the topic of stress, research has widened eyes on the issues of stress because stress is related to
how many hours one is spending away from family or friends. In America, it was customary that
people work long hours. In the U.S., 85.8 percent of males and 66.5 percent of females work more
than 40 hours per week (G.E. Miller). But for many Americans, more work leads to more stress and a
lower quality of life. This amount of stress is not only known to the United States of America, it is
actually culturally extended to other parts of the world. At least 134 countries have laws setting the
maximum length of the work week; the U.S. does not (G.E. Miller). In Japan overwork is known as

Psychological Association (APA) has released its latest Stress in America report, with some good
news to report. Overall, average stress levels in the US are trending downward. Nearly three quarters
of the people surveyed said they had stressed about money at some point in the last month, while only
a quarter said they are stressed about money most or all of the time. Stress levels are decreasing, but
that still leaves more than half of workers stressed. No matter how low stress levels decrease, people
will always have stress.

A Note On The And Refinements
A. Aggregations and Refinements:
Let us analyze the case when the Roll up procedure encounters a 0:n association Ti Ti+1 (Algorithm
2). To generate a virtual attribute vi, the Roll up procedure applies 1) an aggregation operator Agg to
an attribute aj and 2) a refinement operator Ref for the comparison of any attribute ak to a quantity c.
Aggregation operators summarize the information contained in Ti+1, while the refinement operator is
a filter on the rows used for the aggregation. The roles of Agg and Ref executed in lines:11 14 of
Algorithm 2 can be clarified in terms of the following SQL query
Select T1.pk, Agg(T2.aj) From T1
Join T2 on T1.pk = T2.fk
Where T2.ak Ref c
Group by T1.pk
For e.g., Ti is Customer, Ti+1 is Purchase Pur, aj = Pur.return, ak = Pur.online, Agg = AVG, Ref =
EQUALS, and c = 1, the query builds a virtual attribute vi equal to the proportion of returned online
purchases (vi = AVG(Pur.return) WHERE Pur.online = 1) made by the same customer. Note that this
attribute is a class spoiler, because it uses information on future returns. To avoid this problem, the
average needs to be computed on prior purchases. Since n:n associations are not allowed, each record
in table Ti+1 is used to build the virtual attribute of exactly one record in each preceding table. Thus,
before the Roll up procedure starts, it is possible to add a virtual attribute curDate to each table in the
path, which is the threshold to use (in our case, it is the value of T0.date).

Her Kozmic Blues music attracted many Hippies and became a living legend. Joplin later died due to
her excessive drug use and she will always be remembered as the woman who made Woodstock a
bigger success than it would have been in her absence.
The Beatles were also extremely influential and fought to save Vietnam. They sang songs in honor of
those dying and they held concerts to motivate people to join the Hippies. The most influential of the
Beatles was probably John Lennon. Lennon was one of the loudest voices fighting the war and he had
a massive effect on people. He grew his beard and hair for Hair

Another icon, although a bit controversial, was Prof. Dr. Timothy Leary of Harvard. Leary said drugs

Examples of the drugs he encouraged are Marijuana or Hash/Hashish, LSD, and

Exploration of Exploitation During the 1970 s Generation
The 70 s decade represented a very experimental and uncertain time for the film Industry. Due to
financial instability, the Hollywood studio system had collapsed. The invention of the television too
had a disastrous effect on audiences attending movie theaters as many people were inclined to stay at
home because they had children and did not want to pay for a movie and a baby sitter. Artistic
freedom was on the rise though due to a dramatic change in censorship regulation the abandonment of
the Production Code and the decreased clout of the Catholic Legion of Decency. The Production Code

Problems That Led to the Wrongful Conviction of David...
How to appropriately and fairly carry out criminal justice matters is something that every country
struggles with. A major reason for this struggle is the fallibility of the justice system. It is acceptable to
concede that the possibility of human error in every case and investigation may lead to a wrongful
conviction. In the case of David Milgaard, however, Canada s Criminal Justice System not only erred,
but failed grievously, resulting in millions of dollars wasted, in a loss of public confidence in the
system, and most tragically, in the robbery of two decades of one man s life. Factors including, but not

As a result of these moral panics, it is extremely safe to label such individuals as those engaging in
criminal activity.
Labeling played an important role in the initial arrest of David Milgaard. Police officers, as members
of society, often use character discrimination in identifying suspects. Unfortunately, the police likely
began the investigation with a particular image of the suspect in mind, an image established by the
elite members of society whom essentially determine what a deviant is. Regrettably, David Milgaard
happened to fit the mold. The stigma that Milgaard would carry for next twenty seven years of his life
would be that of a rapist and murderer. The issue with labeling is that Milgaard felt no one would ever
look at him in any other way than as a criminal. This was affirmed by the rejection of his final appeal
to the Supreme Court of Canada. As a result, Milgaard attempted numerous times to escape prison and
commit suicide; he felt as though society had given up on him. Ironically, his escape from prison was
his only actual criminal act, but it led to an even greater public perception of his criminality. Even
upon his release in April of 1992, he was not formally acquitted. (CBC/radio Canada) It was no until
July, 1997, upon the discovery of new DNA evidence that cleared Milgaard s name, that he received
an apology from the Saskatchewan government for his wrongful conviction and the label was
removed (CBC/radio Canada). It was not until

Earthquake In Chile Essay
Chile suffers from natural disasters, such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity. This is
because Chile is in the Ring of Fire which is where many pieces of the earth, called tectonic plates,
rub together causing earthquakes, volcanic activity, and tsunamis, which are a product of earthquakes.
Chile has had to change and adapt to these deadly events for many years. They have become more
advanced in ways to endure these natural disasters. Chile has adapted to the presence of natural
disasters by being prepared in a natural disaster, investing in earthquake proof buildings, and by

fact that only a small amount of buildings were damaged is jaw dropping. Insurance is also a very
crucial in earthquakes. People invest in earthquake insurance and this helps because even if homes are
destroyed, nobody will be displaced within their own country. In Chile, an estimated 10 percent of
residential properties and 60 percent of commercial properties are insured against earthquake damage

Why Is Santa Clause Wrong
Santa Claus is an imaginary being, based off of the story of Saint Nicholas. Often we teach children
myths, legends and fairytales to portray a theme to them on a level that they can understand, or
sometimes we pretend something for fun, such as a doll being a child s baby but both we and the child
know that the doll is fake and not a real baby. Despite this, I believe teaching kids that an old man
drops down the chimney each year to give them gifts is wrong.
Firstly, because it sets a precedent in the child parent relation that some lies are OK, or even good ,
and this can have a bad effect on their understanding of honesty, parents should always be
communicating truthfully to their child. My main reason is that if we give presents to our children to
show our love, how can we propel this idea through a lie? Why not give them the presents ourselves?

Christmas is a special time for this. We give people specific gifts that they want or that we know they
will enjoy, this can represent the care and consideration that we take for them. If we use Santa Claus
as a middleman, how is this teaching children the gift of giving ? Or that we take time to think of
them, and what they enjoy? It also takes away the significance or personal feeling attached to the

Sports development is something which by definition caters for both the masses as well as elite

does deserve more funding and resources? In answering this question a lot of analysis has to go in to
what it is that the government want out of sport and what do they consider good results to be. Both
types of participation obviously have their own requirements financially and to a degree both feed into

Revenge Theme In Beowulf
For my third literary work I chose the old English poem, Beowulf. One of the major themes in this
poem is revenge and how the characters portray it throughout the text. I chose to use this picture from
the internet because it portrays the theme of revenge and how people display it. In the first half of this
photograph it shows a car that is parked in two parking spaces, and the second half is the same car but
it is blocked in by shopping carts. The shopping carts were placed by an unhappy human when they
saw this person s bad parking job. This is similar to Grendel s mother s revenge, as well as Beowulf s
in the play Beowulf. After finding out her son was slaughtered by Beowulf, Grendel s mother was
furious. She immediately wanted to serve

How Does Sherman Alexie Use Situational Irony
Reporting the effects of irony
According to Buzzfeed s 19 Most Interesting Facts of All Time, 315 entries in Webster s 1996
dictionary were misspelled. This is ironic because dictionaries should have the correct spelling of all
words. Even though Webster s dictionary did not misspell the words on purpose, it is ironic many
authors use irony in their stories to make them more interesting. The author used this idea of life being
ironic in these three short stories: Sherman Alexie s Because My Father Always Said He Was The
Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play The Star Spangled Banner At Woodstock, Flannery O
Conner s A Good Man Is Hard To Find, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez s A Very Old Man With
Enormous Wings: A Tale For Children. Even though all three short stories are written by different
authors, all three authors use situational irony to make the stories more interesting.
In the story Because My Father Always Said He Was The Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play
The Star Spangled Banner At Woodstock . by Sherman Alexie the author uses situational irony to
make this story more interesting. A fellow demonstrator holds a sign that is just barely visible over my
father s left shoulder. It reads MAKE LOVE NOT WAR. (Alexie 25) This is ironic because they are

The Implications of the Stanford Prison Experiment Essay
The Implications of the Stanford Prison Experiment In 1971 Dr Philip Zimbardo conducted an
experiment in the basement of Stanford University. This involved imprisoning nine volunteers in a
mock up of Stanford prison, which was policed by nine guards (more volunteers). These guards had
complete control over the prisoners. They could do anything to the prisoners, but use physical
violence. The subjects were all students applying for summer jobs to get some money. To make it a
fair test, the subjects were made to take psychological tests to make sure they were mentally fit. On
the first day, the prisoner subjects were picked up by a panda car and arrested on a mass crackdown on

It showed that when given power, many will abuse it. This is very useful as we can apply these lessons
to a real life situation, which could save thousands of people in a real prison. A conclusion of the
experiment is that if you put good people in an evil and unfair place they will become evil. It also
makes us conscious of what people are capable of whatever you think of them. The guards acted the
worst in the middle of the night it is suggested that this is because the believed they were not being
watched. It has been asked if what was learnt was worth the sacrifice of the people involved? I simply
think it was worth the sacrifice. The people involved may have suffered mental anguish due to this
experiment but they will die, and other people can take their place: but the knowledge gained will not
be forgotten so easily. Also I think it is wrong to simply blame the experiment; there is nothing wrong
with putting people in a false prison being controlled by other people. What was wrong was the evil
the people in control exerted on the prisoners. The BBC has repeated the experiment, which some see
as wrong. The repeat of the experiment has been improved by adding several safe guards to protect the
prisoners from the guards. However these

Magic Realism In Hamlet
Magic realism is a literary genre or style that encompases mythical elements into otherwise realistic
fiction. It is an important element that plays into imagery and makes the reader question if certain
situations actually happened. Often times realism is found in fiction or drama; however, it can also be
seen in some poetry. In this paper, I will be discussing how realism directly affects the complete works
of Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Song of Solomon, and As I Walked out One
Evening .
Magic realism is quite prominent during all of Hamlet. The presence of the ghost is one of the main
ways realism is shown throughout the play. The ghost in Hamlet is the old king. This ghost is
portrayed as being alive in the play. Due to the fact that he has multiple lines and participates in
dialogue with Hamlet, it gives the impression of living. The whole purpose of the ghost being in the
play is for motivation. The ghost is the individual who tells Hamlet that he was killed by Claudius. By
revealing this information to Hamlet, it justified Hamlet s hate and lust for revenge against Claudius.
On the flip side, the use of the ghost portrays Hamlet as crazy. It makes it seem as if Hamlet is in a
completely different world than all of the other characters in the play. The magic realism in this play
helps to create a more complex storyline that purposely creates drama. Overall, I believe that the
realism in this play s main purpose was to solidify the reasoning behind

Security Incidents And Security Violations
In 2013, 50 major global organizations reported that 63,437 security incidents and 1,367 confirmed
security breaches had significantly impacted their business. [cite] Even more staggering, over 100
million Americans that s 1 out of 3 citizens had their credit or debit card information pilfered by
hackers over the course of 4 data breaches between 2013 and 2014 [cite], with confirmed evidence
that breaches of this type are increasing. These statistics show that there are serious problems now
existing in the realm of information security and the internet. However, it is undeniable that society
today is largely dependent upon the technology that handles our information along with many facets
of society such as social media that would leave us completely non functional without technology.
Consequently, there is an ongoing debate about the issues of information security and how to solve
them. Some people believe it is the simple matter of installing security programs on their devices, or
using a network that its proponents have labeled it as ultra secure to solve the problem. On the other
hand, others believe that these are information security issues that, given technology today and in the
future, will never have a permanent solution. The American military has legitimate reasons for secure
communications across the Internet, especially in the current age of technology. Field personnel and

Marketing is challenging for Wilkerson because they are no longer holding a competitive advantage in
the valve product line, nor are they price leaders in the pump line.
2. Considering your answer to item 1, the first three exhibits, and related introductory discussion, is it
likely that the accounting system may distort product profit significantly? Why? (Ignore general,
selling, and admin expense.)
Wilkerson employs a Normal Cost System, which means that they use predetermined overhead rates
along with actual costs for direct material and direct labor. Normal costing systems are appropriate
when overhead costs are a relatively small percentage of total manufacturing costs and product
diversity is limited. For Wilkerson, normal costing does not make sense. Overhead costs make up over
50 percent of total manufacturing costs and their product offering is relatively more diverse. This
indicates that the current accounting system in place may be distorting costs significantly. Supporting

Comparing the 1929 Market Crash and the Current Position in the Stock Market
During the 1920 s, the North American economy was roaring, but this decade would eventually be put
to a stop. In October of 1929, the stock market began its steepest decline to this date in history. Many
stock market traders and economists believe and pray that it was a one shot episode never to be

stock markets are in place to repeat the calamitous errors of the 1920 s. In this paper, I will analyze the
causes of the crash and discuss the possibilities of it re occurring.

The 1920 s saw a great technological advance. Mechanical power almost completely replaced

Cuban Immigrants And The Cuban Adjustment Act Essay
INTRODUCTION:
Even though Cuba is a little under 100 miles away from the United States, the relationship between
the two countries has created an atmosphere full of tension and perpetual mistrust. When Fidel Castro
decided to align Cuba with the U.S.S.R. and become a communist country, the United States of
America was stunned and highly insulted. Because of their relationship, both countries have played a
back and forth game of trying to outdo the other. This game and state of affairs in Cuba has created a
large influx of Cuban immigrants looking for better opportunities and trying to escape poverty and
persecution. This paper will be focusing on Cuban immigrants and examining different Cuban
immigration laws, which allowed them to easily become United States citizens, including; the Cuban
Adjustment Act, The Immigration and Nationality Act Amendments of 1976 and the Wet Foot, Dry
Foot Policy. It will also discuss whether the Cuban immigration laws are unfair to other foreign
immigrants and whether the laws are relevant today. Finally, we will be considering the future and try
to predict how the laws will change with the changing diplomatic relations between Cuba and the
United States and the imminent removal of the Embargo Act.

College Is An American Writer
All humans come to a point on whether or not they would like to attend college. College is a step one
takes to further their education in the pursuit of having a career. But is that the only reason why
someone would really choose to go to college? Choosing to become part of a huge or small
community that holds a lot responsibilities is big decision one must think thoroughly about. They must
have a purpose behind it for its rare to see someone say I want to go to college just because I want.
Louis Menand, an American writer, has addressed this question with the three most common theories
as to why someone would decide to go to college. His theories will show the different perspectives
upon the arrival of choosing to attend college which will lead to what I find very convincing from
them all.
We go to college to spend four years of our lives and thousands of money on the school, yet we never
ask ourselves why we choose to attend college. Menand developed three reasons as to why people
may choose to go to college; meritocratic, democratic, and vocational. These theories arose when
asked a simply, yet very intellectual question, Why did we have to buy this book? (Menand pp. 1).
Theory one beliefs that only the intelligent ones are able to attend this four year university. The
education given in college is help progress the society we live in. In order for that to happen, society
needs a mechanism for sorting out its more intelligent members from its less intelligent ones

The Best Version Of Me That I Can Be Now
The qualities I seek within, the best version of me that I can be now, is really nothing extravagant or
exaggerated as I seek to advance myself within human capabilities. I do not wish to become a
superhuman or superior to others. What I truly seek is to become a person that is open to the opinions
of others, one who can logically and calmly rationalize my actions, have a dignified appearance and
confidence in personality, all while having a sense of authority regarding my own actions. An
important quality I seek to obtain is to be open minded to the opinions of others, and to be respectful
of the decisions of the people around me. How other people choose to live their life is up to them to
decide on what will and will not make them fulfilled; and, although I may have my opinion on how to
live a fulfilling existence, I am not interested or invested in forcing my opinions on others. There are
some, however, that have forced their opinions on me in the past about how I should live and what I
should do with my life. They thought they knew the best ways to live in the immediate, near, and long
term future. A few even went as far as to compare my lifestyle to their own delusional narrative and
critique it as if it is their right to criticize. It bothered me a lot, so I believe it is really important to not
judge other people on their lifestyle, and choices because it is solely their right to decide what they can
and cannot live with. I am also a strong advocate for

The Time is Night is a short novel by Liudmila Petrushevskaya. It is one of the few stories that I enjoy

They did not play any role in her life, they just defined the atmosphere around her. It was the

Female Issues Affecting The Indian Society Essay
Abstract
The age old problem of female related issues affecting the Indian society adversely continues to exist
today in the 21st century. The advancement of new age, technology, scientific inventions, standard of
life, and change in life style has failed to bring in change of the mindset. The problem of female
infanticide in India seems to be persistent. The alarming records collected by local, regional, national
and international bodies only reflect the drastic decline in the male female ratio. The matter is of
serious concern and what is required is not only law but the change that each one has to bring in
understanding that when Nature was impartial in evolving man and woman, why has the society then
brought about gender discrimination.
This paper is an attempt to discuss the present and future repercussions faced due to female
infanticide. Since the society is reflected through literature, art and fiction, the writer has made an
attempt to make a journey of today s reality through Sujata Bhatt s poem Voice of the Unwanted Girl

These colonies all had economic factors that contributed to their founding. These factors later
developed into different customs and traditions which led to the varied differences between the New
England and Chesapeake colonies.
The differences between these colonies also arose due to different opinion on functioning of the
government and ideologies. New England, being majorly settled by the Puritans, was intolerant to all
other religions. The one exception to this was the colony of Rhode Island. Because it was settled by a
dissenter from the Massachusetts Bay colony, it was the only New England colony to have complete
religious freedom. Most of the New England based groups wanted to reform the Anglican Church
from inside. The Chesapeake region was completely tied to the Anglican Church and did not care
about reforming it in any way. The New England colonies also had a large central government which
allowed for their administrations to be more organized and uniform throughout the region. This idea
came from the Mayflower Compact signed at Plymouth by the Pilgrims. The American Pageant
describes it as, It was simple agreement to form a crude government and submit to the will of the
majority under the regulations agreed upon (Bailey 47 ). According to Document A,

narrated and drawn from one of the main characters memory. His famous characters were actually
based off his own family. Williams had a intense melodramatic mother and a mentally fragile sister.
Although there are many themes that come from this American classic, the primary focus is the
acceptance of the reality. The characters struggle to accept the ... Show more content on

Katharine Hepburn, the actress who plays Amanda Wingfield, does an excellent job portraying the
abandoned mother who lives in a world of delusion and has a hard time accepting reality. In the script
Amanda s tone and mood was seen through the words on the paper. Immediately Amanda was noted
as having a strong personality who is motivated to help her children succeed. Her body language and
the way she spoke was very enthusiastic and paranoiac at the same time. She uses a lot of movement
with her arms and hands almost in every scene. She is constantly worrying about her family s future
and truly wants what s best for them. Amanda worrying, say, What are we going to do, what is going
to become of us, what is the future? (756). Amanda is still reminiscing the past and struggles to look
forward and see into the future. Her acceptance of reality is constantly challenged because of the
memories of her husband and the past. The performance of Amanda in the film is interesting to watch
with her energetic constant moving. Never is Amanda staying still or not doing something. The script

How Did The Thirteen Years Of Prohibition Lead To The Rise...
Why, and to what extent did the thirteen years of prohibition lead to the rise of organized crime in
America?
From the year 1920 to the year 1933, the United States of America implemented a nationwide
constitutional ban. Under this ban, the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors
within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States [source 2] was
illegal. Prohibition was brought into effect due to a movement from dry crusaders. These crusaders
saw alcohol as a plague in America, and wanted this plague to be wiped out. They believed the alcohol
ban would improve the economy and decrease crime rates. However, the opposite of this proved true
prohibition had many adverse effects on both American economy and society. Alcohol consumption
rose, economy declined, and, of most significance for America, organized crime grew. In this essay I
intend to look at why prohibition caused an increase in organized crime, and to what extent. ... Show

Immediately saloons, distilleries and breweries were out of business. Although these establishments
closed, Americans still wanted alcohol. They did not feel amoral for their drinking, as under the
amendment only the sale, import and export of alcohol was prohibited but not the consumption. The
prohibition was widely disregarded and looked down upon by ordinary Americans. There was a high
demand for alcohol, but owing to its illegality, it was hard to come by. This problem was solved by
criminals, later known as bootleggers, who saw their opportunity to strike gold. They were happy to
supply America with the illegal liquor whilst making a profit. So began the rise in organized

The Banning of Harry Potter at Omaha Christian Academy Essay
The Banning of Harry Potter at Omaha Christian Academy
Imagine discovering that you re not an ordinary person, but a wizard with magnificent, magical
powers. Imagine attending a school where you ll study transfiguration and charms instead of
trigonometry and chem. Imagine the thrill of flying across the sky on a broomstick. These adventures
and many others are waiting to be experienced in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone by novelist J.
K. Rowling. This fanciful and entertaining tale has taken the youth of the nation by storm, and its sales
have only been surpassed by the book s sequels, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry

POTTER GETS COLD SHOULDER
Michael O Connor
Omaha World Herald staff writer
The wildly popular Harry Potter books might be casting a spell over adults and children who just can t
seem to get enough of the young wizard in training, but some schools and parents aren t quite so
enchanted.
Some schools in the Omaha area and across the country aren t ready to place the books on their
shelves because of references to witchcraft and sorcery.
Our mission is to raise children up to be Christians and to be strong men and women of Christ, said
Vic Fordyce, an English teacher at Omaha Christian Academy. The books didn t match up with
Christian values.
The school, which has about 350 students in grades K 12, decided against selling the books at its book
fair earlier this month and has no plans to buy them for classrooms or the library, Fordyce said.
We just didn t want to put our stamp of approval on (the books), he said.
The three books by J.K. Rowling, which are at the top of the New York Times best seller list, chart the
course of 11 year old Harry, who learns of his famous wizard family past and is invited to Hogwarts
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The books are an issue at some public, as well as private, schools.
In South Carolina, parents have persuaded the State Board of Education to review whether the books
should be allowed in the classrooms.

Oppression Of Women In Pakistan
The portrayal of women in the Middle East, specifically in Pakistan, women face discrimination on a
regular basis and struggle to obtain equal rights in comparison to men in Pakistan. Some of the
reasons women are oppressed in Pakistan because of the dominance and control men have over
women. Since the government doesn t utilize the opportunity to protect women and uses religious
defenses as an excuse to treat women poorly, women continue to be treated like second class citizens.
Oppression of Women in Pakistan began after independence in 1947 and continues to negatively
impact women today. Women face inequality in being protected by the government, unequal
education, and political representation. The British controlled India and began to exploit Indians for
their use of raw materials. Britain established power by controlling trade and created the East India
Company. Britain Westernized India and influenced Muslims and Hindus to collaborate. Conflicts
arose when the majority, Hindus, had more political power and influence over Muslims. Upon trying
to gain more political power the Muslim League was established and met on December 1906 to
discuss ways to improve and support political representation of Muslims(Ahmed 110). A Muslim
activist, Jinnah, used his power in Congress to encourage other Muslims to establish more
representation in government. Religious conflicts and tension became prominent when the Indian
National Congress began to favor Hindu movements and Hindu nationalism spread across India.
During the 1920 s after the Muslim League tried to band with congress to challenge Britain control,
Britain favored Hindu culture and dismissing the needs of Muslims(Admed 110). Disregarding
Muslim needs provoked fear of oppression insinuating Muslims to rebel. Acts of rebellion occurred
until a meeting was established to form a political compromise between peace activist, Gandhi, and
the Muslim League to achieve more equal opportunities for Muslims. Muslims were unable to achieve
a compromise because they still had insufficient power in India in comparison to the Hindu
population. Without a compromise the Muslim activists strived to gain political power through
separating powers in India because many were

Indentured Servants During The New World
Indentured servants came to America from Europe in search of land, work, increased wages, and
religious freedom. However, the colonies expanded so rapidly, labor became scarce. This led to a
greater import of Europeans willing to begin a new life in the New World, in exchange for their
servitude for a contracted period (O Brien Sparrow, 2014). When labor contracts ended and freed
servants received their land, servitude needed to continue with farms and business operation. With
scarce labor, Indians became the new target. Captured and forced into servitude by colonials, the
Indians filled the gaps in the colonial workforce to repay debt. The Indians eventually revolted and
went on murderous adventures against the white man, leading to the expulsion of slave labor trade and
outlawing independent trading in the Southeastern states (Shi Tindall, 2012). Need for Indentured
Servitude While colonies were growing at a rapid rate, they outgrew the labor force. As an incentive to
increase the population of the newly developed settlements and increase the colonial expansion,
individuals were offered an opportunity to work in exchange for land (Watson, 2014). Servants were
sold to land owners for a limited number of years, to be used as labor and then set free (O Brien
Sparrow, 2014). Once tobacco farming became the main source of riches, plantations grew larger and
more abundant, resulting in a need for additional labor. While servants were offered land in exchange

Explain Why There Is A Renewable Energy Source Compared To...
Solar Energy/Power
1. Describe solar power. Explain in detail how the energy source is used to generate electricity
Solar energy is a type of energy that is used in many households all around the world it is a renewable
resource meaning once you use it you can replace it. It is a great energy source that is going to rule
over coal and oil when we run out of fossil fuels. Electricity received from the panels is light energy
that has been converted.
The steps of how solar panels work are explained below:
1. The photons from the sun is absorbed by the solar panel
2. The silicon and conductors in the solar panel converts the light energy into a current of electricity
called Direct Current, which flows through to your inverter
3. The Inverter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spare electricity that wasn t used is credited to the grid
5. If more electricity is needed then your solar panels produce, electricity is taken from the grid to
power your house
2. What is a renewable energy source compared to a non renewable energy source?
A renewable energy source is a source of energy that can be renewed or replaced like solar or wind
energy, these are examples of renewable energy sources because they can be replaced. Solar energy,
the sun will never run out (until billions of years later) and wind energy is renewable because we can t
run out of wind. Now, non renewable energy. Coal, oil, gas these are all examples of non renewable
energy sources. They are non renewable energy sources because once you use it, you cannot replace it.
So renewable energy is energy that can be replaced and non renewable energy is energy that cannot be
replaced.
Is solar power a renewable or non renewable resource? Explain
Solar power is a renewable energy source because humans are not using any of the earth s resources
and because the sun will never run out or be extinguished. Each day you will generate electricity from
the sun
3. Advantages of Solar Power
Solar energy does not cause pollution, whereas oil, coal etc. does cause

The Origin Of Diversity Within Species
According to Charles Darwin, he suggested that all organisms were descendants from a common
ancestor that was once existed in the past (Darwin 1859). As organisms share a lot of common
characteristics due to common ancestry, the history of evolution of different species can be known
through comparing how closely their genes and body structures were. The more similar those
characteristics are, the more closely related those species is. However there is a wide range of
diversity between every single species and between every single individual. Diversification allows
organisms to occupy different niches in the ecosystem. In this essay, the origin of diversity within

Every single individual will not be genetically identical unless they are identical twins. Variation
within individuals could be caused my crossing over or independent assortment during the process of
fusion of two gametes. !!!!
Origin of diversity between species
A common ancestor gave rise to all organisms on earth. However, every individual species developed
their own distinct character that allows them to play a specific role in the ecosystem. Diversity is
caused as species are being isolated by geographic barriers or by sexual selection. The diversity
between species can be present as there is a difference in the species heritable trait. Those organisms
that contain an advantageous allele that allows them to be better adapted to the environment survive
and reproduce. As a result, the advantageous allele will be inherited by the offspring and the frequency
of the advantageous allele will increase within the population. In the example of Strepsirhini, it was
one of the linages that was evolved form the earliest primates together with tarsiers (e.g. monkeys and
apes) (Hickman, et al. 2011). When Madagascar was separated from the southeast coast of Africa at
about 120million years ago, the Madagasy prosimians where separated from the rest of the population
of apes and monkeys. The Madagasy prosimians where geographically isolated form the rest of the
primate population

Increase in current liabilities Substantial increase in current liabilities weakened the company s
liquidity position. Its current liabilities were US$2,063.94 million at the end of FY2010, a 48.09%
increase compared to the previous year. However, its current assets recorded a marginal increase of
25.07% from US$1,770.02 million at the end of FY2009 to US$2,213.72 million at the end of
FY2010. Following this, the company s current ratio declined from 1.27 at the end of the FY2009 to
1.07 at the end of FY2010. A lower current ratio indicates that the company is in a weak financial
position, and it may find it difficult to meet its day to day obligations.
Opportunities:
Global demand for coatings market The growing market for global coatings will certainly benefit the
company. Market analysts expect the global coatings market to reach US$98.69 billion by 2015. This
expected increase is primarily due to economic activity, rapid industrialization, and increasing demand
from automotive and construction sectors in developing countries. The Asian market is also forecast to
increase at a compounded annual growth rate of 4.2% through 2015. Being a manufacturer of paints
and coatings, the company can tap this growing market.
Opening new stores The company s expansion plans of new stores will attract huge customer

  • 2. Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Essay The motivating principle behind IDEA was to ensure an equal opportunity for all children. In order to affect that idea, we have to find a balance between all children s needs. In 1975, came the passage of the federal Education of All Handicapped Children Act, now revised as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 1990). For handicapped children, the law was long overdue. The designers of IDEA saw themselves as progressive reformers, designing fairer, more responsive schools. The lawmakers were attempting to rectify two historical injustices. First, public schools were not serving many of the country s eight million handicapped children, with as many as one million children not attending school. Second, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The IEP would be reviewed and revised annually, and parents would have grievance procedures to challenge decisions. The law required educators to place handicapped students in general classrooms whenever possible or in the least restrictive environment. The mandate to provide a free and appropriate education for children regardless of disability and to provide that education in a regular classroom whenever possible, effectively striped educators of the authority to transfer or suspend any student classified as needing special education. This would not have been an issue if it only included the wheelchair bound or blind students who we typically think of as disabled. However, over the past few decades, the increasing number of children classified under the disability categories of Learning Disabled and Emotional Disturbance has shot up. Not so long ago, these children were called unmanageable or antisocial. Now, part of the definition of emotional disturbance is an inability to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers. Often teachers and principals will refer children with an emotional disturbance to special education classrooms perhaps because they see the mandated state and federal money, at the very least, as a promise to help the neglected and damaged population of children beset with social and emotional problems. It could be that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this reason I have an inclination towards my father s business. So I thought I should make full use of my MBA and apply the models and concepts I am learning here to our own business. So the problem I have chosen for my DMD Term Paper is to make optimum utilization of the resources and get the maximum returns on the money we are investing in our business. The case will help me determine and understand the cost versus return trade off. The case will help us realise that what are the maximum benefits we could reap out of our business if we utilise our resources to an optimal rate. There is a constraint on the costs as ... Arounnd this time was when there was more interactions between the Eastern and Western hemispheres of the world. These interactions had major impacts on the world as a whole at the time, both good and bad. During this time in the Atlantic world, European dominance and the demand for God, gold, and glory remained constant, while there were significant social changes in the Native American population and the attitude that native had towards the Europeans. During the time period 1492 to 1750, the Age of Exploration was occuring causing many things to change socially due to the increased interaction between the two hemispheres. One changed that occured during this time was the decreasing Native American population. The reason for this change was largely due to exposure to western diseases that the natives had not grown used to, and also due to slaughtering and enslavement by the Europeans. An example of this is when the Arawak Indians were enslaved by the Spaniyards, who would work them to death and even kill them if they did not do what was asked. Another change was the attitude that the Native Americans had towards the Europeans. Initially, they were welcoming and even believed the Europeans were gods, but after a series of unpleasant encounters, this opinion changed. An example of this would be the backlash from Native Americans who would attack Europeans who attempted to colonize on their land. • 11. A Note On The And Refinements A. Aggregations and Refinements: Let us analyze the case when the Roll up procedure encounters a 0:n association Ti Ti+1 (Algorithm 2). To generate a virtual attribute vi, the Roll up procedure applies 1) an aggregation operator Agg to an attribute aj and 2) a refinement operator Ref for the comparison of any attribute ak to a quantity c. Aggregation operators summarize the information contained in Ti+1, while the refinement operator is a filter on the rows used for the aggregation. The roles of Agg and Ref executed in lines:11 14 of Algorithm 2 can be clarified in terms of the following SQL query Select T1.pk, Agg(T2.aj) From T1 Join T2 on T1.pk = T2.fk Where T2.ak Ref c Group by T1.pk For e.g., Ti is Customer, Ti+1 is Purchase Pur, aj = Pur.return, ak = Pur.online, Agg = AVG, Ref = EQUALS, and c = 1, the query builds a virtual attribute vi equal to the proportion of returned online purchases (vi = AVG(Pur.return) WHERE Pur.online = 1) made by the same customer. Note that this attribute is a class spoiler, because it uses information on future returns. To avoid this problem, the average needs to be computed on prior purchases. Since n:n associations are not allowed, each record in table Ti+1 is used to build the virtual attribute of exactly one record in each preceding table. Thus, before the Roll up procedure starts, it is possible to add a virtual attribute curDate to each table in the path, which is the threshold to use (in our case, it is the value of T0.date). ... A major reason for this struggle is the fallibility of the justice system. It is acceptable to concede that the possibility of human error in every case and investigation may lead to a wrongful conviction. In the case of David Milgaard, however, Canada s Criminal Justice System not only erred, but failed grievously, resulting in millions of dollars wasted, in a loss of public confidence in the system, and most tragically, in the robbery of two decades of one man s life. As a result of these moral panics, it is extremely safe to label such individuals as those engaging in criminal activity. Labeling played an important role in the initial arrest of David Milgaard. Police officers, as members of society, often use character discrimination in identifying suspects. Unfortunately, the police likely began the investigation with a particular image of the suspect in mind, an image established by the elite members of society whom essentially determine what a deviant is. Regrettably, David Milgaard happened to fit the mold. The stigma that Milgaard would carry for next twenty seven years of his life would be that of a rapist and murderer. The issue with labeling is that Milgaard felt no one would ever look at him in any other way than as a criminal. This was affirmed by the rejection of his final appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. As a result, Milgaard attempted numerous times to escape prison and commit suicide; he felt as though society had given up on him. Ironically, his escape from prison was his only actual criminal act, but it led to an even greater public perception of his criminality. Even upon his release in April of 1992, he was not formally acquitted. This is because Chile is in the Ring of Fire which is where many pieces of the earth, called tectonic plates, rub together causing earthquakes, volcanic activity, and tsunamis, which are a product of earthquakes. Chile has had to change and adapt to these deadly events for many years. They have become more advanced in ways to endure these natural disasters. Chile has adapted to the presence of natural disasters by being prepared in a natural disaster, investing in earthquake proof buildings, and by evacuation procedures. An 8.8 is outstanding and the fact that only a small amount of buildings were damaged is jaw dropping. Insurance is also a very crucial in earthquakes. People invest in earthquake insurance and this helps because even if homes are destroyed, nobody will be displaced within their own country. In Chile, an estimated 10 percent of residential properties and 60 percent of commercial properties are insured against earthquake damage (). • 19. Why Is Santa Clause Wrong Santa Claus is an imaginary being, based off of the story of Saint Nicholas. Often we teach children myths, legends and fairytales to portray a theme to them on a level that they can understand, or sometimes we pretend something for fun, such as a doll being a child s baby but both we and the child know that the doll is fake and not a real baby. Despite this, I believe teaching kids that an old man drops down the chimney each year to give them gifts is wrong. Firstly, because it sets a precedent in the child parent relation that some lies are OK, or even good , and this can have a bad effect on their understanding of honesty, parents should always be communicating truthfully to their child. My main reason is that if we give presents to our children to show our love, how can we propel this idea through a lie? Why not give them the presents ourselves? ... If we use Santa Claus as a middleman, how is this teaching children the gift of giving ? Or that we take time to think of them, and what they enjoy? In answering this question a lot of analysis has to go in to what it is that the government want out of sport and what do they consider good results to be. This is something that I would not endorse as cutting programs which are engaged with seems like a decisive step away from the general aims of the government which is to increase participation in sport. By cutting programs like cross country they are not only contradicting themselves but showing that the public are not the main concern, also making it forthright that governing bodies are miss using the revenue given to them by the government by cutting programs which are played by all people. • 26. Magic Realism In Hamlet Magic realism is a literary genre or style that encompases mythical elements into otherwise realistic fiction. It is an important element that plays into imagery and makes the reader question if certain situations actually happened. Often times realism is found in fiction or drama; however, it can also be seen in some poetry. In this paper, I will be discussing how realism directly affects the complete works of Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Song of Solomon, and As I Walked out One Evening . Magic realism is quite prominent during all of Hamlet. The presence of the ghost is one of the main ways realism is shown throughout the play. The ghost in Hamlet is the old king. This ghost is portrayed as being alive in the play. Due to the fact that he has multiple lines and participates in dialogue with Hamlet, it gives the impression of living. The whole purpose of the ghost being in the play is for motivation. The ghost is the individual who tells Hamlet that he was killed by Claudius. By revealing this information to Hamlet, it justified Hamlet s hate and lust for revenge against Claudius. On the flip side, the use of the ghost portrays Hamlet as crazy. It makes it seem as if Hamlet is in a completely different world than all of the other characters in the play. The magic realism in this play helps to create a more complex storyline that purposely creates drama. (Ignore general, selling, and admin expense.) Wilkerson employs a Normal Cost System, which means that they use predetermined overhead rates along with actual costs for direct material and direct labor. Normal costing systems are appropriate when overhead costs are a relatively small percentage of total manufacturing costs and product diversity is limited. For Wilkerson, normal costing does not make sense. Overhead costs make up over 50 percent of total manufacturing costs and their product offering is relatively more diverse. College is a step one takes to further their education in the pursuit of having a career. But is that the only reason why someone would really choose to go to college? Choosing to become part of a huge or small community that holds a lot responsibilities is big decision one must think thoroughly about. They must have a purpose behind it for its rare to see someone say I want to go to college just because I want. Louis Menand, an American writer, has addressed this question with the three most common theories as to why someone would decide to go to college. His theories will show the different perspectives upon the arrival of choosing to attend college which will lead to what I find very convincing from them all. We go to college to spend four years of our lives and thousands of money on the school, yet we never ask ourselves why we choose to attend college. Menand developed three reasons as to why people may choose to go to college; meritocratic, democratic, and vocational. These theories arose when asked a simply, yet very intellectual question, Why did we have to buy this book? (Menand pp. 1). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These colonies all had economic factors that contributed to their founding. These factors later developed into different customs and traditions which led to the varied differences between the New England and Chesapeake colonies. The differences between these colonies also arose due to different opinion on functioning of the government and ideologies. New England, being majorly settled by the Puritans, was intolerant to all other religions. The one exception to this was the colony of Rhode Island. Because it was settled by a dissenter from the Massachusetts Bay colony, it was the only New England colony to have complete religious freedom. Most of the New England based groups wanted to reform the Anglican Church from inside. The Chesapeake region was completely tied to the Anglican Church and did not care about reforming it in any way. The New England colonies also had a large central government which allowed for their administrations to be more organized and uniform throughout the region. This idea came from the Mayflower Compact signed at Plymouth by the Pilgrims. The American Pageant describes it as, It was simple agreement to form a crude government and submit to the will of the majority under the regulations agreed upon (Bailey 47 ). • 44. How Did The Thirteen Years Of Prohibition Lead To The Rise... Why, and to what extent did the thirteen years of prohibition lead to the rise of organized crime in America? From the year 1920 to the year 1933, the United States of America implemented a nationwide constitutional ban. Under this ban, the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States [source 2] was illegal. Prohibition was brought into effect due to a movement from dry crusaders. These crusaders saw alcohol as a plague in America, and wanted this plague to be wiped out. They believed the alcohol ban would improve the economy and decrease crime rates. However, the opposite of this proved true prohibition had many adverse effects on both American economy and society. Alcohol consumption rose, economy declined, and, of most significance for America, organized crime grew. In this essay I intend to look at why prohibition caused an increase in organized crime, and to what extent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They did not feel amoral for their drinking, as under the amendment only the sale, import and export of alcohol was prohibited but not the consumption. The prohibition was widely disregarded and looked down upon by ordinary Americans. There was a high demand for alcohol, but owing to its illegality, it was hard to come by. This problem was solved by criminals, later known as bootleggers, who saw their opportunity to strike gold. They were happy to supply America with the illegal liquor whilst making a profit. Some schools in the Omaha area and across the country aren t ready to place the books on their shelves because of references to witchcraft and sorcery. Our mission is to raise children up to be Christians and to be strong men and women of Christ, said Vic Fordyce, an English teacher at Omaha Christian Academy. The books didn t match up with Christian values. The school, which has about 350 students in grades K 12, decided against selling the books at its book fair earlier this month and has no plans to buy them for classrooms or the library, Fordyce said. • 47. Oppression Of Women In Pakistan The portrayal of women in the Middle East, specifically in Pakistan, women face discrimination on a regular basis and struggle to obtain equal rights in comparison to men in Pakistan. Some of the reasons women are oppressed in Pakistan because of the dominance and control men have over women. Since the government doesn t utilize the opportunity to protect women and uses religious defenses as an excuse to treat women poorly, women continue to be treated like second class citizens. Oppression of Women in Pakistan began after independence in 1947 and continues to negatively impact women today. Women face inequality in being protected by the government, unequal education, and political representation. The British controlled India and began to exploit Indians for their use of raw materials. Britain established power by controlling trade and created the East India Company. Britain Westernized India and influenced Muslims and Hindus to collaborate. Conflicts arose when the majority, Hindus, had more political power and influence over Muslims. Upon trying to gain more political power the Muslim League was established and met on December 1906 to discuss ways to improve and support political representation of Muslims(Ahmed 110). A Muslim activist, Jinnah, used his power in Congress to encourage other Muslims to establish more representation in government. Religious conflicts and tension became prominent when the Indian National Congress began to favor Hindu movements and Hindu nationalism spread across India. During the 1920 s after the Muslim League tried to band with congress to challenge Britain control, Britain favored Hindu culture and dismissing the needs of Muslims(Admed 110). Disregarding Muslim needs provoked fear of oppression insinuating Muslims to rebel. Acts of rebellion occurred until a meeting was established to form a political compromise between peace activist, Gandhi, and the Muslim League to achieve more equal opportunities for Muslims. Muslims were unable to achieve a compromise because they still had insufficient power in India in comparison to the Hindu population. Without a compromise the Muslim activists strived to gain political power through separating powers in India because many were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Indentured Servants During The New World Indentured servants came to America from Europe in search of land, work, increased wages, and religious freedom. However, the colonies expanded so rapidly, labor became scarce. This led to a greater import of Europeans willing to begin a new life in the New World, in exchange for their servitude for a contracted period (O Brien Sparrow, 2014). When labor contracts ended and freed servants received their land, servitude needed to continue with farms and business operation. With scarce labor, Indians became the new target. Captured and forced into servitude by colonials, the Indians filled the gaps in the colonial workforce to repay debt. The Indians eventually revolted and went on murderous adventures against the white man, leading to the expulsion of slave labor trade and outlawing independent trading in the Southeastern states (Shi Tindall, 2012). Need for Indentured Servitude While colonies were growing at a rapid rate, they outgrew the labor force. As an incentive to increase the population of the newly developed settlements and increase the colonial expansion, individuals were offered an opportunity to work in exchange for land (Watson, 2014). Servants were sold to land owners for a limited number of years, to be used as labor and then set free (O Brien Sparrow, 2014). Once tobacco farming became the main source of riches, plantations grew larger and more abundant, resulting in a need for additional labor. While servants were offered land in exchange ... As organisms share a lot of common characteristics due to common ancestry, the history of evolution of different species can be known through comparing how closely their genes and body structures were. The more similar those characteristics are, the more closely related those species is. However there is a wide range of diversity between every single species and between every single individual. However, every individual species developed their own distinct character that allows them to play a specific role in the ecosystem. Diversity is caused as species are being isolated by geographic barriers or by sexual selection. The diversity between species can be present as there is a difference in the species heritable trait. Those organisms that contain an advantageous allele that allows them to be better adapted to the environment survive and reproduce. As a result, the advantageous allele will be inherited by the offspring and the frequency of the advantageous allele will increase within the population.
