I chose the poem, traveling Through the Dark, by William Stafford. Stafford describes the speaker
as traveling at night. On speaker s way, he discovers a dead female deer on the side of the road. He

fire in what he feels to be extreme circumstances, because the element of fire spoke to some deep
mainspring of his father s being, as the element of steel or of powder spoke to other men, as the
one weapon for the preservation of integrity, else breath were not worth the breathing, and hence to
be regarded with respect and used with discretion (127). Abner s mood is important to the setting in

Over the history of man, stories have been told in many fashions, but even through all that time
some basic elements of storytelling hold true. For example, even though Oedipus Rex and The Kite
Runner were written hundreds of years and hundreds of miles apart, they still have similarities.
They both use irony, suspense and other writing methods to present a story in an entertaining and
thought provoking way. Also, between the two books they share major themes. The Kite Runner
and Oedipus Rex share the theme of guiltand shame, as illustrated in the stories ironies, climax, and
by the protagonist actions.
Both stories are full of ironies that contribute to the guilt and shame theme. Oedipus Rex is a
prime example of using dramatic irony to drive a story. Since the audience back when the drama
was released, they would have known the outcome of the story. So, throughout the story the
audience knows that he is guilty, as Oedipus follows down a path that will lead to this horrific
realization. Much of this dramatic irony is what makes the guilt he feels at the end all the more

On November 13, I decided to analyze how the behaviours and body languages of males and
females during a bus ride by using participant observation as my method of collecting data (also
commonly known as ethnographic field notes). I did this experiment by taking the Translink #49
bus from the University of British Columbia bus loop at 1 PM in the afternoon to the final stop,
Metrotown Station and rode the same bus back to campus at 6 PM in the evening. I believe the
data I have gathered from this observationis very interesting because in Canada, there is an
emphasis on closing the sexgap between males and females by showing that there are little or no
differences (excluding the physical sense) between the two. Therefore, I was curious if there
were behavioural and social variations between the two sexes in an open space, and I thought
that observing other people s actions and body languages on a public transportation like the bus
would be able to answer my questions if there were differences . I would argue that we can learn
a lot from the way we act through the patterns I have seen and use that to be more conscious

his character. Taylor Rascher played Simon Bliss and played him perfectly. Rascher s character
Simon was a young man who was dramatic and romantic so much so it was almost to the point
of ridiculousness. Rascher stole the show in the first act when he was romancing with Michelle
Luz, who plays Myra Arundel. Rascher was displaying his love for Michelle Luz (Myra) in the

If the superintendent doesn t spray then say goodbye to it. They spray pesticides, herbicides,
and fungicide. Pesticides will kill any kind of pest that is on a golf course. A couple of examples of
pesticides to be found are grubs, worms and ants. Herbicides is used to kill weeds and if they

throughout Charlie Gordon s journey. Charlie Gordon, the story s protagonist, is considered to be
used as a test subject for an original experiment that can potentially change the face of science.
After many tests, Charlie undergoes an operation, as a result, a slow progression begins in his
overall intelligence levels.
In the excerpt Flowers for Algernon written by Daniel Keyes, the theme conveyed is that people
should try to modify nature s course for the benefit of science. Daniel Keyes first expresses this
by the characters dialogue, at first when Charlie spoke, he was lost, he spoke with no emotion
and did not truly nor fully understand the concept of his conversations, but after the surgery, he
communicated with a passion he knew what he was saying and could get is point across to
other people. The second thing Keyes asserts is Algernon, without the operation Algernon would
just be a normal mouse eating and sleeping, doing what all other pet mice do, but with the
surgery, Algernon became important, he was the foundation for the experiment and there was a
more important point in his life, but Algernon did eventually decline and pass away but without
him the experiment would have been in question and Algernon helped answer those questions,
Algernon also served as a friend and representation of Charlie, this is due to the fact that both
Algernon and Charlie were the only ones who received this special surgery, so in a sense they
both were connected. Charlie really loved Algernon and Algernon sort of understood that, him
and Charlie were connected mentally and physically, with our the operation this bond would no
have been possible so this whole operation helped Charlie receive a good friend not a regular
