Hurricane Katrina Effect On Louisiana
Hurricane in Katrina and the Effect on Louisiana
Like most states and countries positioned near large bodies of water, natural disasters and global
epidemic have taken a toll on Louisiana s climate and environments. Hurricane Katrina had a major
effect on Louisiana. For example, its coastline, and environment was effected. Hurricane Katrina is
one of the deadliest hurricanes that ever hit the United States. It hit a couple of cities, but it hit the city
of New Orleans, Louisiana the hardest. New Orleans was very popular for tourists before Katrina hit,
and still is (Jervis, 2015). After it hit New Orleans, it left many people devastated; killing an estimated
amount of 1,833 people. Many of people were left homeless. There are still places ... Show more

I know this because in the passage it states Wetlands along the southern coastlines of the United States
serve as natural speed bumps to approaching hurricanes by starving them of warm ocean water and
creating physical barriers to surging flood waters. However, in the last 100 years, the construction of
levees and canals has turned thousands of square miles of wetland habitat into open water. This video
from NOVA science NOW explores the importance of these critical habitats and examines the damage
Hurricane Katrina caused to one stretch of Louisiana wetland (History 2010).
The hurricane caused destruction in wildlife, as well as habitats. The winds were so strong that it tore
down trees, almost five million acres of forest over Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama were
damaged by Hurricane Katrina. That caused animals to have to move to a different location because of
the loss of their habitat. And on the other hand Damaged forests increase the risk of wildfire, insect
infestation, and the establishment of invasive species. Furthermore, as all the dead trees decompose,
they release substantial carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, exacerbating global warming (History

Importance Of English In Kenya
Most people who think of English will agree that it is one of the most diverse forms of
communication. A hybrid made of various words and phrases from other cultures, it is commonly
considered a lingua franca and is used to bring those various cultures together. But in some ~ cases,
English is not being used to bring the people together, but rather deliberately split them apart. Such a
case has been occurring in Kenya, where the usage of English has become an underhanded tool to
partition the power between the elites and the commoners.
Kenya is an Outer Circle country, which means that the use of English is the result of colonization and
has become ingrained in society and daily life as an important function. In Kenya s case, English was

In the year 1963, Kenya was fully declared independent from British rule. However, its influence still
exists throughout the country today. Currently, English is used in primary and secondary education,
and based on British English and spelling. (Cite as before) Today, English is one of the official
languages in Kenya, alongside Swahili, the native language.
Though English has many uses, and plays important roles, it has also been used as ulterior means to
promoting a (destructive) hegemony.
Kenya opted for capitalism and English as the most practical medium for business communication
(English around the World)
Despite the widespread presence of English throughout the country, (much like other countries) the
actual understanding and ~~ of English is low. In fact, it is estimated only twenty percent to a quarter
of the (common) population has a decent and ~~ understanding of the language. It is sometimes a

This fact is the core of the governmental problem in Kenya English is being manipulated as a means
to ensure more power to the government and take away from the common people. For example, daily
media, magazines, and websites are widely biased towards using English and continue to grow. This
poses a big problem for government situations. The official language for documents and

Sealed Air Essay
SEALED AIR CORPORATION CASE WRITE UP
1. Describe the corporate culture at Sealed Air? What is its business model? How do they make
money?
Sealed air was the packaging market leader in the US while its history has been characterized by
technical accomplishment. It also expanded its packaging market through abroad. The firm met its
customers need while differentiating its products from contenders by barrier coating. They had two
types of products: the first was Instapak foam usually used for heavy items while the second was

If the firm do so, they can make money without harming its loyal customers perception. Besides, the
firm would create an opponent for GAFCEL with the help of this strategy. Moreover, the coated
products Sealed Air produce corresponding to GAFCEL s uncoated bubbles can be sold for a lower
price because of the fact that the firm makes at least 50% profit for all kind of coated bubbles
according to Table D. Since the profit margin is very high, the firm would sacrifice some part of it and
can both increase distributors earnings as well as decrease the product sale price. Moreover, Sealed
Air should put aside some budget for advertisements to support brand image. It should differentiate
itself from contenders while focusing on its products strength and quality. Moreover, they should
expand their product line to meet all kind of customers need.
5. Given your plan, what will be the impact on Sealed Air s business model?
Thanks to those implementations, Sealed Air could maintain its market leadership without harming the
brand image. Besides, lowering sale prices would make the firm gain price conscious customers as
well as increasing the distributor s profit margin would improve the firm and distributors relationship.
If it is possible, the firm would distribute Astro s uncoated bubble products to abroad that Sealed Air
would dominate European packaging market mostly served for the price conscious

The Current Civil Justice System Of England And Wales Essay
In your opinion, how adequate is the current Civil Justice System of England and Wales in respect of
delivering access to justice? To determine whether the current Civil Justice System of England and
Wales is adequate in delivering access to justice, it is necessary to look at the system prior to the
Woolf reforms, the implementations made by the Woolf reforms and the implementations made by the
Jackson reforms. The Civil Justice System of England and Wales prior to the Woolf reforms Prior to
the Woolf reforms, the Civil Justice System of England and Wales was just a civil system as there was
no Justice. This is because lawyers were able to charge as much as they liked. This meant that only
those who were wealthy would get representation in court as they were the only ones who could afford
the absurd amounts charged by lawyers. As the loser pays the cost, those who were not wealthy would
find themselves losing more money as they could not afford representation. This meant that the
wealthier party did not lose out as their costs would be reimbursed to them. There were also excessive
documents which were not needed. This incurred various delays with false starts. The terminology
used was archaic and therefore incomprehensible for those with no legal knowledge . This posed a
problem for those who had to represent themselves in court. What all of these show is that there was
no justice in the civil system prior to the Woolf reforms. What can be said to be the ideal system of

The Use Of Unreasonable Force And The Fourth Amendment
USE OF TASER, IN PROBE AND PRONG MODE, AND CAROTID HOLD AGAINST MR.
CORDOVA
The use of unreasonable force is constitutionally excessive and violates the Fourth Amendment.
Graham v. Connor, 490 U.S. 386, 394 96 (1989). There is no per se rule in determining whether an
officer s actions are reasonable under the Fourth Amendment. Scott, 550 U.S. at 383. The courts
typically balance the nature and quality of the intrusion on the individual s Fourth Amendment
interests against countervailing governmental interests at stake. Bryan v. MacPherson, 630 F.3d 805,
823 (9th Cir. 2010) (quoting Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1, 8 (1985)). However, courts, considering
the totality of circumstances, balance the following factors to determine if an officer used force is
unreasonable: (1) the severity of the crime at issue, (2) whether the suspect posed an immediate threat
to the safety of the officers or others, and (3) whether the suspect was actively resisting arrest or
attempting to evade arrest by flight. Graham, 490 U.S. at 396. Because force can be unreasonable even
without physical blows or injuries, the analysis under Graham allows the court to determine
objectively the amount of force necessary in a particular situation. MacPherson, 630 F.3d at 826.
A. Officer Woodward use of Taser in Probe Mode
The Court in Bryan v. MacPherson stated that when the officer used the Taser with the probes,
aluminum darts tipped with stainless tell barbs connected to the Taser insulated wires, toward the
target at a rate of over 160 feet per second. MacPherson, 630 F.3d at 824. The Court noted that once a
person is struck, the Taser delivers a 1200 volt into the individual s muscles, making the impact
powerful. Id. at 824. The electrical impulse instantly overrides the victim s central nervous system
paralyzing the muscles throughout the body, rendering the target limp and helpless making the person
experience excruciating pain that radiates throughout the body. Id.; see Draper v. Reynolds, 369 F.3d
1270, 1273 (11th Cir. 2004); see also Lewis v. Downey, 581 F.3d 467, 475 (7th Cir. 2009). Although
the uses of Tasers by law enforcement can help defuse a dangerous situation, the force must be
justified by the governmental interest

What if the IRS, the EPA, the Bureau of Indian Affairs were all shut down because of their past abuses
of power and failure to properly track and administer the funds entrusted to them?
Whatever the reason for the triple standard between punishing people crime, punishing corporate
crime, and punishing government crime, we should start by asking if the U.S. government really cares
about non violent crime. Even though we have very strict regulations on everything from money
laundering to banking transparency, banks like Standard Chartered and Barclays have took hits for
corporate crimes. Bribery allegations, fines and settlements have hurt businesses such as Siemens,
KBR, and Alcatel Lucent.
We need to understand that when company officials, or government officials achieve power over
others, there will be some who will abuse the trust they have been given. Internal controls and locks
only keep honest people honest. People run corporations and the government. People will skirt the law
if the potential for gain appears to be great and the risk of being caught appears small. Human activity,
businesses and government included, is based upon capital allocation and a risk reward analysis; if the
profits to be gained from cheating outweigh the probability adjusted consequences of being caught
and punished, then it makes sense to

you just use cars to get back and forth from work this is an amazing number. A car that sold for more

market for the wealthy. Buying, storing, then selling cars for a profit sounds like a simple system, but
can you really make money investing in classic cars? Auctions are now being televised and we see
cars selling well over their original price tag. Even with these prices some of the sellers are winners

The Adopt-A-Rock Project

The main objective of this Adopt A Rock project is to analyze and categorize thin section #86 as well

First, using individual mineral characteristics and descriptions under a petrologic microscope,
followed by hand sample diagnostics. Metamorphic rocks are significant pieces in the Earth s
geochronology. As they develop from the transformation of existing rock types, in a process called

Kyanite quartzites are rare fine grained quartzites with 70% to 85% mode of quartz and less than 15%
mode kyanite (Al2SiO5) which occur in Proterozoic supracrustal rock units (Müller, et al, 2007).
Kyanite quartzites appear in four less populated cities in Norway: Solør, Surnadalen, Nasafjellet and
Skjome (Müller, et al, 2007). Kyanite Quartzite can also be found in the Southeastern part of the
United States. The largest kyanite mine on Earth is hosted at Willis Mountain in the Piedmont
Province of Virginia, and several smaller bodies occur through this region (Owens and Pasek, 2009).
Kyanite quartz deposits are the biggest and most plentiful of the group of high alumina quartzose
deposits in the Southeast (Espenshade and Potter, 1960). The primary kyanite deposits in the
Farmville district are the deposits of kyanite quartzite at Willis Mountain and Woods Mountain in
Buckingham County, at Leigh and Baker Mountains in Prince Edward County (Espenshade and

As well as being an exquisite metamorphic rock, Kyanite Quartzites do have a particular economic
value to the world also (Müller, et al, 2007). Low concentrations of trace elements in quartz, quartz is

The Rights Of Women During The World Is Treated The Same,...
To start off, the very broad term of equality is the notion that every human being in the world is
treated the same, no matter their age, gender, class, or race. Comparing to other political systems,
democracy values equality more than any other as it involves the commitment in upholding equal
treatments between citizens. To measure the level of democracy in a territory in terms of associational
autonomy, one must observe the level of equality that is promoted in that country. Looking at any
state, minorities are primarily the ones discriminated against by their government and citizens. In
Tunisia, the minorities are women and as a result they were secluded in economic, political, and social
affairs. The period of time when women were mostly segregated in Tunisia was when the state was
under the possession of France. Women living in Tunisia during this period were mainly housewives
as they did not have much access to education and were required to wear veils in public. However,
once Tunisia received its independence in 1956 from France, the Personal Status Code was created by
the republic government which provided females several legal rights such as the right to divorce, the
right to receive an education, and the right to obtain an occupation. As the laws were implemented
over the years, women activists noticed that the legislation was too elusive and did not properly
outline the terms for equality. Due to this, women experienced discrimination in several areas such as

The Cold War, spanning almost half a century, was a conflict that accelerated the production of
nuclear weapons and forced the United States and the other belligerent, the Soviet Union, to make

States and the effect that the Cold War had on the American populous. Rose examines communism
and the military threat that it posed on the nation and how this impacted American society and the
generation that endured World War II. Lisle A. Rose is a historian who has also written Power at Sea

Contemporary Management Of Traditional Forest
There are over 556 federally recognized tribes in the United States. Over eighteen million acres on
334 tribal reservation in 36 states are forests and woodlands (IFMAT). These forested ecosystems are
vital to tribal communities therefore it is important to address frameworks offered for co managing
resources. Despite the popular assumption, Indian tribes have managed lands for thousands of years
prior to Euro American settlement. Tribal communities relied on traditional knowledge to sustain their
livelihoods. Traditional ecological knowledge is passed down through generations, which include
harvesting, use of fire, and sustaining livelihoods through the landscape and cultural practices. In
recent years, traditional knowledge held by local and indigenous communities has gain international

After the discovery of Rio de Janeiro in the early 16th century by Portuguese explorers, the city, in its

their hold on Brazil with interest coming from other European nations. With Brazil s timber becoming

Reflection On Trust
About a year ago today my family was going through many issues that affected my mental well being
tremendously. Being home was similar to being lost, it was a world I wasn t equipped for, and no
longer wanted to be apart of. Things at home took such a turn that my mother sent my sister to live in
Florida with her father, I knew then I no longer had a purpose to stay. Following this occasion, I
started to ask around for places to live, I even went as far as looking for rooms to rent in the area.
Generously one of my best friends, Jessica, offered to let me stay with her for the remainder of the
school year. She and her parents took me in days later, accepting me with loving arms. Living with my
friends family started to become more of a home to me than any home I d lived in prior. This
transformation in my life was one of the first in which I allowed myself to be cared for by others. With
this I want to explore the idea of trust within my life, and how it has affected me. Trust is something I
was taught over time not to believe in, or more importantly I was shown not to believe in. Throughout
many of my life experiences I ve learned that trust can only be plausible if my attitudes towards the
idea would permit it. My sense of trust within people has been diminished, leaving me with the notion
that trusting is a huge risk. The risk of being let down by someone who chose not to commit to an act,
is a risk I am normally am not able to perform. After countless occasions of

Discussion Board 1 In the Book of Daniel the 7th chapter it is record that Daniel mentioned four great
kingdoms. The four great kingdoms that Daniel mentioned are Babylon, Medo Persia, Greece, and
Rome. Daniel stated in detail that these four kingdoms would come out the earth. The Babylonian,
Persian, Greek, and Roman empires were all different in size, power, and in many other ways. It is
noted that Daniel use animal symbols to describe these four kingdoms. First, the Babylonia kingdom
is represented by a lion that had wings like an eagle in which stood like a man on its two feet. It is
imperative to state, The lion s wings being torn off speaks of the king s insanity and loss of power;
standing on two feet like a man and receiving a human heart (mind) denotes Nebuchadnezzar s
humanitarian rule after his insanity; and the lion being lifted up from the ground indicates that it was
God who raised the king to his place of honor. Secondly, the Medo Persia kingdom is represented by a
bear that had three ribs in its mouth, and it was commanded to devour all flesh. This command that
was given means that this empire will conqueror other empires. Thirdly, the Greek Empire was
represented by a leopard with four wings and four heads. The Greek ... Show more content on

Sarbanes-Oxley Section Effect on Audit Fees
Isolating Sarbanes Oxley Section 404(b) effect on audit fees and market liquidity: a natural
experiment.
Premalata Sundaram* PDBP 2010 University of Florida
August 23, 2010
Abstract
Since the passage of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) of 2002, a large body of evidence has
accumulated on the costs this legislation has imposed on public companies in the United States.
Estimates of the direct costs of the law have been fairly straightforward to measure, but the indirect
costs of the legislation like incremental audit and non audit fees, additional audit effort and additional
internal control audit expenses like payroll and technology are harder to estimate due to lack of
detailed data on these expenses. Since audit fees had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One must therefore assume that all of the increase in compliance costs post Section 404 is due to a
mix of increased audit effort, higher auditor liability risk and higher internal audit costs. Raghunandan
Rama(2006) study the audit fee component of SOX Section 404 compliance by US firms using data
on a sample of manufacturing companies from Jan 2003 to Sep 2005. They find that the mean total
compliance costs is $2.2 million among the firms that voluntarily disclosed this information.2

Gregorio Cortez And High Horse Similarities
There are men in the world that are completely different, but happen to have a few similarities.
Gregorio Cortez and High Horse are two different men but also have little in common. For one, Cortez
is an outlaw and no matter how bad things are, he doesn t stop. On the other hand, High Horse is a
romantic, but doesn t give up because he knows who he loves and is willing to do whatever he has to
for the girl he is going to marry. And he said he loved the girl so much that he was man enough to do
anything Red Deer or anybody else could think up. Cortez and High Horse have one similarity, which
is truly believing in something. The difference between their beliefs is that Cortez believes he is
unstoppable. The Major Sheriff shot first, and he

Speaking the Truth
Speaking the Truth Before my current boss at the University, my boss was Susie. When I first started
working there, Susie and I did not get along very well. She would do things that I did not think
modeled leadership, such as telling her followers that they could not take off two weeks before start
week then she would take off during that time. As time progressed, she became a better leader and we
began to get along better. However, another team member that originally got along with her began to
miss a lot of work, come in late, leave in the middle of important jobs that had to be finished, etc. As a
result, she began to put a lot of pressure on this employee about this behavior. The more pressure she
put on him the angrier he got and he began to fight back in a very unethical way. We would go into
team meetings and she would tell us things such as I went home for lunch and was so tired I did not
come back for three hours and laugh saying I do think John even noticed. John was her boss and he
was located in another building, therefore he was not aware of her comings and goings unless it was
pointed out to him. While we the team did not think this, was appropriate behavior for a leader as a
team we talked about it being wrong, but did not talk about it outside of our circle. However, the
employee that she was putting pressure on to shape up seen this as the perfect opportunity to retaliate
against her and he went one step above her boss and reported it. As a result,

Leonard Shelby s Use Of Narrative Techniques In Memento
Memento is one of the more unique mainstream films of the 2000s. In this film, we see the
protagonist, Leonard Shelby, in search for the man who raped and killed his wife. This is no typical
detective tale as Leonard s investigation is complicated by his anterograde amnesia, which he
develops from a blow to the head. Leonard cannot make new memories, which makes remembering
new facts about the murder impossible. As a result, Leonard relies on an extensive photograph record
and tattoos of facts about the case to stay focused on his investigation. Even with his methods,
Leonard is not able to keep up with all new information. Consequently, he is manipulated by a corrupt
cop (Teddy) who eventually tells Leonard that his wife did not die in the attack, and that he had
actually killed his wife s killer long ago but forgot about it. As a result of being manipulated, Leonard
writes on a picture of Teddy that He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The backward story telling implemented in Memento leaves the audience disoriented as the audience
experiences events without knowing the causes of those events (because Leonard s short term memory
forgets the causes of the event that takes place). The narrative structure of Memento truly accentuates
the condition of Leonard. Furthermore, the editing of certain sequences further disorients the audience
because the sequence of events is edited to fit the character of the fragmented mind of the protagonist.
Thus, the editing helps to reveal the mindset of Leonard. Finally, the color changes experienced from
certain scenes to other scenes highlight Leonard s forgotten parts of the story being told, which, again,
further complicates and disorients the audience to fit the disoriented protagonist. All in all, certain
elements of film can tell interesting and non traditional stories. No film can better exemplify this fact

The Beatles Were The Most Influential Events Of The Rock Era
Rock Era
The Beatles were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era. They introduced more
innovations into popular music than any other rock band in the twentieth century.
The Beatles was a distinguished group of young band artist. They were the Fab Four, or as the
reporters call them Mop Tops. They were very different then most rock bands because they had a
British accent. The band began in the late 1950 s. Every member of the band was young, they all
started their love of music as a teenager. John was the origin of the Quarrymen, later known as the
Beatles. John started out as a young artist in high school with his band from the inspiration from Elvis
Presley. Don t Let Me Down , a song written by John to express his love for Yoko Ono. The song was

John Lennon was the leader of the band. John had his own band throughout high school which
eventually introduced the Beatles. Paul McCartney sauntered John in between concerts after hearing
him play. John and Paul had conversations which lead to John asking Paul if he would like to join the
band. Paul was puzzled at the beginning but in the end Paul said yes. John and Paul continued to play
at the concerts and at home. After some time Paul made a conjecture to make a conscription to the
band. It was then eight months after John and Paul played together when he made the conjecture but
John soon approved his conjecture. Soon they recruited a young artist (George Harrison) from high
school, who was at the age of fourteen at the time. At first they weren t for sure about recruiting the

An Oppositional Defiant Disorder ( Developmental Manual...
For one to understand Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) it is important to examine the criterion
that place this disorder within the realm of Disruptive, Impulse Control, and Conduct Disorders. The
American Psychiatric Association note in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(2013) that, [these] disorders include conditions involving problems in the self control of emotions

rights of others and/or bring the individual into significant conflict with social norms and authority

Vindictiveness: Has been spiteful or vindictive at least twice within the past 6 months. Criterion B:
The disturbance in behavior as associated with distress in the individual or others in his immediate
context, or impacts negatively on social, educational, occupational, or other important areas of
functioning. Criterion C: The behaviors do not occur exclusively during the course of psychotic,
substance use, depressive, or bipolar disorder. Also, the criteria are not met for disruptive mood
dysregulation disorder (APA, 2013). Etiology and Course It is sometimes difficult to determine
whether a child truly meets the criteria for having an ODD diagnosis because many of the behavioral
qualifications are commonly seen among youth in early childhood and adolescence. If a child s
behaviors consistently cause distress to the family system and have an effect on his or her social and
educational functioning, further evaluation is appropriate. ODD has been linked to many other
comorbid disorders, such as anxiety; depression; and, most commonly, attention deficit/ hyperactivity
disorder (Erford, Paul, Oncken Kress, 2014). Disruptive behavior is the most common mental health
problem seen by pediatricians. Although attention deficit/

Extraction Techniques For Rough Medications
Extraction, as the term is utilized pharmaceutically, includes the partition of restoratively dynamic
segments of plant or creature tissues from the idle or latent parts by utilizing particular solvents as a
part of standard extraction strategies. The items so acquired from plants are generally polluted fluids,
semisolids or powders expected just for oral or outside use. These incorporate classes of arrangements
known as decoctions, implantations, liquid removes, tinctures, pilular (semisolid) separates and
powdered concentrates. Such arrangements famously have been called galenicals, named after Galen,
the second century Greek doctor. The motivations behind institutionalized extraction techniques for
rough medications are to achieve the restoratively sought divide and to wipe out the dormant material
by treatment with a specific dissolvable known as menstrum. The concentrate along these lines got

Spanking As A Discipline Essay
A Midland mother is demanding justice after her child was allegedly slapped in the face. The report of
child abuse was filed in June, a week after Tyverious Mackey s birthday. In any case anger should
never result to violence (Williams). Even though kids should be disciplined but not to the point of
beating them, discipline such as spanking is a must because punishing them will make them a better
person and teaches kids that the adults are in control. Although kids should be disciplined there s a
difference between beating a child and disciplining them. For instance, spanking is a light punishment
and should not be used for every occasion. When one beats a child, whatever the intention, they know
the child will get seriously hurt and is done with malice. ( Do You Think Spanking ). In other words,
this explains that parents should not frequently spank their children, and should talk to them before
spanking them all the time. Another example that shows that kids should be disciplined but not to the
point of beating them is, just like a police officer, they do not need to be angry to enforce a rule or law.

behavior. ( Spanking As A Discipline ). With this in mind this leads to the children actually wanting to

better person is that spanking puts a stop to a behavior, but doesn t change a child s decision.
Additionally, when one spanks a kid the intention is so the child knows of the consequences of their
bad behavior. ( Do You Think Spanking ). In other words, when disciplining a child, the intention is to

Toxic Nail Polish Study
Toxic Nail Polish Health Fears Something to watch for. A new report out of California has found toxic
nail polish that is labeled Toxin Free , though the industry says the report is short on perspective. The
labeling doesn t seem to match the ingredients in the bottles. Here s how the study was done. The team
of researchers purchased 25 nail products in May 2011 and sent samples to a laboratory who examined
the samples for three chemicals known as the toxic trio dibutyl phthalate and toluene along with
formaldehyde. These substances have been a concern because of the potential health effects,
especially to the salon workers who are constantly exposed to them. The state investigators from
California s EPA tested nail color, nail laquer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This program was begun after San Francisco enacted such an ordinance at the end of 2010. To be
classified as a safe salon, the establishment must use products without the toxic trio along with other
chemicals as well. The Nail Manufacturers Council does not approve of inaccurate labeling. They also
said that none of the levels given in the report offer a health and/or safety risk. A statement from the
Professional Beauty Association s Nail Manufacturers Council said that the brands tested aren t major
brands and aren t available in every salon. You can buy the products at beauty supply shops or online.
Just be aware that chemicals with well known health concerns could be in the products you buy, even
if the label says toxic free . Toxic nail polish and other toxin containing nail products are a bigger
concern for salon technicians than consumers, still it s smart to be aware and informed. There are
other products besides nail care items that have these chemicals, and exposure can accumulate. If you

you re pregnant, you ll want to skip the nail salon

Compare And Contrast Citizens United Vs Fec
What do corporations and individual citizens have in common? According to the court ruling of
Citizens United v FEC, people and corporations should have the right to speak their mind. Unlike
corporations, most individual citizens do not have the vast amount of resources that huge groups are
strategically designed to make. Corporations are much more capable of getting what they want
because of their strength in numbers and the influence that they have. Their main goal is to make as
much money as they can and as a result, their money has the ability to influence politics. The Supreme
Court s ruling allows money to speak. Instead of protecting free speech, it undermines democracy.
First, it is necessary to understand who Citizens United is and the roles of political action committees.

The organization planned to release the film available within 30 days of the primary election.
However, this was against a section of the Bipartisan Reform Act of 2002 (BCRA) which prohibited
corporations from using their money to distribute electioneering communications ... within sixty days
of general election and thirty days of a primary election (Trachtman, 2006, pg 83). Citizens United
knew the FEC would stop the release of their documentary so they took the FEC to the United States
District Court for the District of Columbia. The district court ruled against Citizens United and the
organization took the case to the Supreme Court. In January 2010, the Supreme Court ruled 5 4 in
favor of Citizens United. The court decided that section 441 of BCRA was unconstitutional because it
was against the First Amendment. The Supreme Court recognized that the First Amendment applies to
corporations (Citizens United v FEC, 2010). Because restrictions limited corporations from expressing
their views, the Court ruled that corporations could spend an unlimited amount of money to advocate

Analysis of Trifles by Susan Glaspell Essay
Trifles is a play with a unified plot. Although there are verbal flashbacks to the events of the day of the
murder of John Wright, the play s entire plot begins and ends in a span of one day. The author also
extends the unified plot to create a single setting (the farmhouse kitchen). The plot centers on John
Wright s murder. Mrs. Wright is the main suspect; an investigation is taking place as to the motive or
reason for the crime.
The Sheriff, Mr. Hale and the County Attorney are introduced first to the audience. They are
investigating the crime scene. The women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, accompany the men to gather
whatever of Mrs. Wright s belongings that she needs in jail. This exposition turns ironic when the

Mrs. Peters, we ll call her the antagonist, repeatedly brings up the fact that the men are only doing
their job and that the law will determine Mrs. Wright s fate. Mrs. Hale, on the other hand, as the
protagonist, resents the men s sneaking and snooping around. Now she turns the men s stereotype of
women against them. She feels guilty about not being around the Wright s farmhouse more often.
The climax of the play unfolds as the women find an empty birdcage with a broken hinge. As the two
women speculate why it was empty, Mrs. Hale describes Mrs. Wright to Mrs. Peters as she knew her
when they were single women. The suspect s maiden name was Minnie Foster. She was a beautiful
songstress. A voice that was muted when she became Mrs. Wright.
When Mrs. Hale finds a dead bird in Mrs. Wright s sewing box, she soon recognizes the obvious
reason why John Wright was murdered. The audience sees character motivation in Mrs. Wright. Mr.
Wright was a man who used silence and coldness to control and mold his wife into someone he
thought she ought to be. He killed the singing bird, which was a symbol for Mrs. Wright as Minnie
Foster. In an indirect way, he killed her joy of singing, her spirit, keeping her in her own cage which
she can not escape from. Unless she got rid of what (or who) was holding her prisoner.
As she comes up with her own judgments, Mrs. Hale

  • 2. Hurricane Katrina Effect On Louisiana Hurricane in Katrina and the Effect on Louisiana Like most states and countries positioned near large bodies of water, natural disasters and global epidemic have taken a toll on Louisiana s climate and environments. Hurricane Katrina had a major effect on Louisiana. For example, its coastline, and environment was effected. Hurricane Katrina is one of the deadliest hurricanes that ever hit the United States. It hit a couple of cities, but it hit the city of New Orleans, Louisiana the hardest. New Orleans was very popular for tourists before Katrina hit, and still is (Jervis, 2015). After it hit New Orleans, it left many people devastated; killing an estimated amount of 1,833 people. Many of people were left homeless. There are still places ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know this because in the passage it states Wetlands along the southern coastlines of the United States serve as natural speed bumps to approaching hurricanes by starving them of warm ocean water and creating physical barriers to surging flood waters. However, in the last 100 years, the construction of levees and canals has turned thousands of square miles of wetland habitat into open water. This video from NOVA science NOW explores the importance of these critical habitats and examines the damage Hurricane Katrina caused to one stretch of Louisiana wetland (History 2010). The hurricane caused destruction in wildlife, as well as habitats. The winds were so strong that it tore down trees, almost five million acres of forest over Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. That caused animals to have to move to a different location because of the loss of their habitat. And on the other hand Damaged forests increase the risk of wildfire, insect infestation, and the establishment of invasive species. Furthermore, as all the dead trees decompose, they release substantial carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, exacerbating global warming (History ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Importance Of English In Kenya Most people who think of English will agree that it is one of the most diverse forms of communication. A hybrid made of various words and phrases from other cultures, it is commonly considered a lingua franca and is used to bring those various cultures together. But in some ~ cases, English is not being used to bring the people together, but rather deliberately split them apart. Such a case has been occurring in Kenya, where the usage of English has become an underhanded tool to partition the power between the elites and the commoners. Kenya is an Outer Circle country, which means that the use of English is the result of colonization and has become ingrained in society and daily life as an important function. In Kenya s case, English was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the year 1963, Kenya was fully declared independent from British rule. However, its influence still exists throughout the country today. Currently, English is used in primary and secondary education, and based on British English and spelling. (Cite as before) Today, English is one of the official languages in Kenya, alongside Swahili, the native language. Though English has many uses, and plays important roles, it has also been used as ulterior means to promoting a (destructive) hegemony. Kenya opted for capitalism and English as the most practical medium for business communication (English around the World) Despite the widespread presence of English throughout the country, (much like other countries) the actual understanding and ~~ of English is low. In fact, it is estimated only twenty percent to a quarter of the (common) population has a decent and ~~ understanding of the language. It is sometimes a second, third or even fourth language for large segments of the population. . Even those who know English may not be speaking it correctly. This fact is the core of the governmental problem in Kenya English is being manipulated as a means to ensure more power to the government and take away from the common people. For example, daily media, magazines, and websites are widely biased towards using English and continue to grow. This poses a big problem for government situations. Sealed air was the packaging market leader in the US while its history has been characterized by technical accomplishment. It also expanded its packaging market through abroad. The firm met its customers need while differentiating its products from contenders by barrier coating. If the firm do so, they can make money without harming its loyal customers perception. Besides, the firm would create an opponent for GAFCEL with the help of this strategy. Moreover, the coated products Sealed Air produce corresponding to GAFCEL s uncoated bubbles can be sold for a lower price because of the fact that the firm makes at least 50% profit for all kind of coated bubbles according to Table D. Since the profit margin is very high, the firm would sacrifice some part of it and can both increase distributors earnings as well as decrease the product sale price. Moreover, Sealed Air should put aside some budget for advertisements to support brand image. It should differentiate itself from contenders while focusing on its products strength and quality. Moreover, they should expand their product line to meet all kind of customers need. 5. Given your plan, what will be the impact on Sealed Air s business model? Thanks to those implementations, Sealed Air could maintain its market leadership without harming the brand image. • 6. The Current Civil Justice System Of England And Wales Essay In your opinion, how adequate is the current Civil Justice System of England and Wales in respect of delivering access to justice? To determine whether the current Civil Justice System of England and Wales is adequate in delivering access to justice, it is necessary to look at the system prior to the Woolf reforms, the implementations made by the Woolf reforms and the implementations made by the Jackson reforms. The Civil Justice System of England and Wales prior to the Woolf reforms Prior to the Woolf reforms, the Civil Justice System of England and Wales was just a civil system as there was no Justice. This is because lawyers were able to charge as much as they liked. This meant that only those who were wealthy would get representation in court as they were the only ones who could afford the absurd amounts charged by lawyers. As the loser pays the cost, those who were not wealthy would find themselves losing more money as they could not afford representation. This meant that the wealthier party did not lose out as their costs would be reimbursed to them. There were also excessive documents which were not needed. This incurred various delays with false starts. The terminology used was archaic and therefore incomprehensible for those with no legal knowledge . This posed a problem for those who had to represent themselves in court. What all of these show is that there was no justice in the civil system prior to the Woolf reforms. I bet we could get some crazy footage and it would be really cool. As Joe kept rattling off all of the reasons that they should go, Leroy began to give up and eventually sighed Fine i ll go! Joe had heard stories of an abandoned hospital in the middle of the forest before and he had never really bought into them before. Whenever anybody else at his high school talked about it a few questions that Joe always thought of ruled out the possibility of such a place existing. Who would randomly make a hospital in the middle of the woods, and why would it then be abandoned. The only reasonable explanation is that it didn t exist. So while ... Leroy looked at Joe and smiled. They nodded heads and went in through the broken window. As they entered the dark room there a miserable vibe, like the building didn t want them to be in there. So they clicked their flashlights on in the dark room and looked at walls and floor. There was broken glass and old hospital supplies all over the floor. • 9. The Use Of Unreasonable Force And The Fourth Amendment USE OF TASER, IN PROBE AND PRONG MODE, AND CAROTID HOLD AGAINST MR. CORDOVA The use of unreasonable force is constitutionally excessive and violates the Fourth Amendment. Graham v. Connor, 490 U.S. 386, 394 96 (1989). There is no per se rule in determining whether an officer s actions are reasonable under the Fourth Amendment. Scott, 550 U.S. at 383. The courts typically balance the nature and quality of the intrusion on the individual s Fourth Amendment interests against countervailing governmental interests at stake. Bryan v. MacPherson, 630 F.3d 805, 823 (9th Cir. 2010) (quoting Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1, 8 (1985)). However, courts, considering the totality of circumstances, balance the following factors to determine if an officer used force is unreasonable: (1) the severity of the crime at issue, (2) whether the suspect posed an immediate threat to the safety of the officers or others, and (3) whether the suspect was actively resisting arrest or attempting to evade arrest by flight. Graham, 490 U.S. at 396. Because force can be unreasonable even without physical blows or injuries, the analysis under Graham allows the court to determine objectively the amount of force necessary in a particular situation. MacPherson, 630 F.3d at 826. A. Officer Woodward use of Taser in Probe Mode The Court in Bryan v. MacPherson stated that when the officer used the Taser with the probes, aluminum darts tipped with stainless tell barbs connected to the Taser insulated wires, toward the target at a rate of over 160 feet per second. MacPherson, 630 F.3d at 824. The Court noted that once a person is struck, the Taser delivers a 1200 volt into the individual s muscles, making the impact powerful. Id. at 824. The electrical impulse instantly overrides the victim s central nervous system paralyzing the muscles throughout the body, rendering the target limp and helpless making the person experience excruciating pain that radiates throughout the body. Id.; see Draper v. Reynolds, 369 F.3d 1270, 1273 (11th Cir. 2004); see also Lewis v. Downey, 581 F.3d 467, 475 (7th Cir. 2009). I searched the Internet to locate a story in the news that depicts an accounting ethical breach. I selected Krispy Kreme. What if the IRS, the EPA, the Bureau of Indian Affairs were all shut down because of their past abuses of power and failure to properly track and administer the funds entrusted to them? Whatever the reason for the triple standard between punishing people crime, punishing corporate crime, and punishing government crime, we should start by asking if the U.S. government really cares about non violent crime. Even though we have very strict regulations on everything from money laundering to banking transparency, banks like Standard Chartered and Barclays have took hits for corporate crimes. Bribery allegations, fines and settlements have hurt businesses such as Siemens, KBR, and Alcatel Lucent. We need to understand that when company officials, or government officials achieve power over others, there will be some who will abuse the trust they have been given. Internal controls and locks only keep honest people honest. People run corporations and the government. People will skirt the law if the potential for gain appears to be great and the risk of being caught appears small. Human activity, businesses and government included, is based upon capital allocation and a risk reward analysis; if the profits to be gained from cheating outweigh the probability adjusted consequences of being caught and punished, then it makes sense to ... • 13. The Rights Of Women During The World Is Treated The Same,... To start off, the very broad term of equality is the notion that every human being in the world is treated the same, no matter their age, gender, class, or race. Comparing to other political systems, democracy values equality more than any other as it involves the commitment in upholding equal treatments between citizens. To measure the level of democracy in a territory in terms of associational autonomy, one must observe the level of equality that is promoted in that country. Looking at any state, minorities are primarily the ones discriminated against by their government and citizens. In Tunisia, the minorities are women and as a result they were secluded in economic, political, and social affairs. The period of time when women were mostly segregated in Tunisia was when the state was under the possession of France. Women living in Tunisia during this period were mainly housewives as they did not have much access to education and were required to wear veils in public. However, once Tunisia received its independence in 1956 from France, the Personal Status Code was created by the republic government which provided females several legal rights such as the right to divorce, the right to receive an education, and the right to obtain an occupation. As the laws were implemented over the years, women activists noticed that the legislation was too elusive and did not properly outline the terms for equality. Due to this, women experienced discrimination in several areas such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being home was similar to being lost, it was a world I wasn t equipped for, and no longer wanted to be apart of. Things at home took such a turn that my mother sent my sister to live in Florida with her father, I knew then I no longer had a purpose to stay. Following this occasion, I started to ask around for places to live, I even went as far as looking for rooms to rent in the area. Generously one of my best friends, Jessica, offered to let me stay with her for the remainder of the school year. She and her parents took me in days later, accepting me with loving arms. Living with my friends family started to become more of a home to me than any home I d lived in prior. This transformation in my life was one of the first in which I allowed myself to be cared for by others. With this I want to explore the idea of trust within my life, and how it has affected me. Trust is something I was taught over time not to believe in, or more importantly I was shown not to believe in. Throughout many of my life experiences I ve learned that trust can only be plausible if my attitudes towards the idea would permit it. The four great kingdoms that Daniel mentioned are Babylon, Medo Persia, Greece, and Rome. Daniel stated in detail that these four kingdoms would come out the earth. The Babylonian, Persian, Greek, and Roman empires were all different in size, power, and in many other ways. It is noted that Daniel use animal symbols to describe these four kingdoms. First, the Babylonia kingdom is represented by a lion that had wings like an eagle in which stood like a man on its two feet. It is imperative to state, The lion s wings being torn off speaks of the king s insanity and loss of power; standing on two feet like a man and receiving a human heart (mind) denotes Nebuchadnezzar s humanitarian rule after his insanity; and the lion being lifted up from the ground indicates that it was God who raised the king to his place of honor. Secondly, the Medo Persia kingdom is represented by a bear that had three ribs in its mouth, and it was commanded to devour all flesh. According to the court ruling of Citizens United v FEC, people and corporations should have the right to speak their mind. Unlike corporations, most individual citizens do not have the vast amount of resources that huge groups are strategically designed to make. Corporations are much more capable of getting what they want because of their strength in numbers and the influence that they have. Their main goal is to make as much money as they can and as a result, their money has the ability to influence politics. The Supreme Court s ruling allows money to speak. Although there are verbal flashbacks to the events of the day of the murder of John Wright, the play s entire plot begins and ends in a span of one day. The author also extends the unified plot to create a single setting (the farmhouse kitchen). The plot centers on John Wright s murder. Mrs. Wright is the main suspect; an investigation is taking place as to the motive or reason for the crime. The Sheriff, Mr. Hale and the County Attorney are introduced first to the audience. They are investigating the crime scene. The women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, accompany the men to gather whatever of Mrs. Wright s belongings that she needs in jail. This exposition turns ironic when the women end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mrs. Peters, we ll call her the antagonist, repeatedly brings up the fact that the men are only doing their job and that the law will determine Mrs. Wright s fate. Mrs. Hale, on the other hand, as the protagonist, resents the men s sneaking and snooping around. Now she turns the men s stereotype of women against them. She feels guilty about not being around the Wright s farmhouse more often. The climax of the play unfolds as the women find an empty birdcage with a broken hinge. As the two women speculate why it was empty, Mrs. Hale describes Mrs. Wright to Mrs. Peters as she knew her when they were single women. The suspect s maiden name was Minnie Foster. She was a beautiful songstress. A voice that was muted when she became Mrs. Wright. When Mrs. Hale finds a dead bird in Mrs. Wright s sewing box, she soon recognizes the obvious reason why John Wright was murdered. The audience sees character motivation in Mrs. Wright. Mr. Wright was a man who used silence and coldness to control and mold his wife into someone he thought she ought to be. He killed the singing bird, which was a symbol for Mrs. Wright as Minnie Foster. In an indirect way, he killed her joy of singing, her spirit, keeping her in her own cage which she can not escape from. Unless she got rid of what (or who) was holding her prisoner. As she comes up with her own judgments, Mrs. Hale ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
