Long Distance Trucking Industry Analysis Paper
Long Distance Freight Trucking Industry Analysis The U.S. economy is significantly impacted by the
symbiotic relationships among most industries in the U.S. When one industry is negatively impacted
many other industries experience fluctuations in supply, demand, and profit. The long distance freight
trucking industry is a prime example of an industry that maintains interdependent relationships within
the U.S. economy. If the long distance trucking industry were to shut down for 10 days, industries like
manufacturing, construction, wholesale trade, and those providing and requiring gasoline and
petroleum would experience substantial shortages critically impacting their ability to provide products
and services to consumers. Long distance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A disruption in trucking for just several days would impact numerous industries and markets as well
as significantly impact the safety and well being of Americans. Not only does trucking provide vital
services by transporting essential products, but it also contributes to the economy as a thriving and
growing industry. The long distance freight trucking industry employed over 1,107,000 in 2015 with
forecasted growth for the next five years. However, the industry is voicing its concern over a shortage
of drivers. Contribution of truck transportation as a whole to the gross output since the recession in
2009 has steadily increased to 332.4 billion in 2014 with a forecast of continued growth for the
foreseeable future. The trucking industries input to the Gross Domestic Product from 2010 to 2014
was .8% annually. The contribution of long distance freight trucking to the GDP during 2015 was over
$63,000,000 with anticipated increase for the next five years. The trucking industry in its entirety
appears to have only minimally invested in R D with the most recent records indicating approximately
166 million spent in 2007. Much of the data on R D is confidential. Aside from GPS and equipment
monitoring devices there has not been much new technology introduced due in large part because the
industry is mature. Only time will tell what the future holds with Europe s testing of self driving semi

Work Environment and Health
One of the most important aspects of any company is the working conditions and environment
comfort of the workers. Workers whose environmental is not designed to suit the kind of task they
perform tend to develop health conditions that may affect their lives. Data entry using the keyboard in
a computer is one of the tasks which require a well established and a comfortable environment. Failure
to provide this may result in several ill health conditions. One of such condition is carpal tunnel
syndrome. This discussion will, therefore, focus on the factors those results to such conditions and the
possible ways to make a working environment for individuals ... Show more content on

There is also a need for an individual to ensure that a person takes a regular break to give a hand
opportunity to relax and release from the constant straining. The positioning of the computer,
especially the mouse, should be in a flat and comfortable place that ensures a soft and a swift
movement that reduces any chances of strains by the hand. This will also help individuals to work for
a long time without feeling any pain in hand. Based on the research on the repeated stress injury, the
company needs to improve the working environment for the data entry operations. In this case, there is
a need to develop the kinds of furniture in the office to ensure that they suit the task performance in
that environment. The furniture should make sure that the monitor is well positions to enable the
operator to sit upright. The mouse should also be placed in a position that allows the person to relax
his hands while typing and while handling the mouse. These improvements are aimed at increasing
productivity of workers without affecting their health in the office. In conclusion, the increasing rate
of poor health conditions in the rooms due to improper office environment setup is a problem that
might result in low productivity among the workers. It is therefore important to ensure that the
management provides good furniture that prevents too much straining by their employees.

The Objective Of This Project Is To Find An End User...
The Objective of this project is to find an End User Experience Tool (EUX) to monitor our client s
devices to better diagnose current issues and prevent future ones. There were many instances where
our executives were out of town and their devices stopped working and there weren t any tools to
prevent something like this to happen before hand or diagnose the reasons. With a EUX tool, we will
be able to monitor and diagnose any occurrences, track, and report any trend issues and prevent issues
like this from happening as often. Phase 1 Planning On the initial phase, all planning will be assed.
Time, budget, and project implementation will be discussed and accordingly planned for the entire
project. Major milestones will be documented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pilot machines will be monitored and worked for a few days until we feel comfortable and
assured we are familiar with the program and it is working properly as we planned and expected.
Phase 4 Deployment Deployment will start once all testing if finalized. A deploy package will be built
by the team and all deploy systems will be gathered ahead of time to be included in the package. The
installation will be a silent install, client will be pushed to the select devices with no interference to the
users. Once deployment is completed, a report will be generated by the program with the completion
and failure status. Phase 5 Final Presentation and Closing After all reporting comes back positive,
software is up and running, reporting, and executing as is supposed to, a final meeting presentation
will take place to give a final report status and close the project process. A meeting with stakeholders
will be scheduled, a final presentation will give them a project status, execution, results, and
completion. A 99.9% ration acceptance will be needed to finalize and complete the project. Once that
is completed, all documents, steps, logs, and processes will be archived for future use and auditing
purposes. Project will be closed once all these tasks are performed and the final and next phase will
take place. Phase 6 Go Live Once project is appropriately approved and closed, the system will go live
and system reporting will begin Hardware

Identify And Explain The Factors That Cause Changes In...
The three factors that caused Galetown to have more severe rainstrorms this summer than in previous
years are stronger winds, higher temperature and the new lake. First of all, stronger winds push the air
parcels (An amount of air that moves as a unit) higher up in the troposphere. The higher the air parcel
is in the troposphere, the colder it is. This will cause a greater energy transfer from the parcel to the
surrounding air allowing them to become the same temperature and having condensation occurs. This
will soon fall out as rain. In the chart, it tells us that in storms 3 and 4 that all factors are the same
before the storm such as the surface water (high) and the temperatures are close enough to not make a
significant difference. But the wind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the air parcel rises in the troposphere, the more energy transfer. The reason why the energy
transfers is because the water vapor must have an equivalent temp to the surrounding air. More energy
causes it to have more evaporation transferring more water vapor to the surrounding air. As the energy
transfer occurs, the water vapor gets through condensation and turns to liquid water. The higher the
parcel gets, the colder it is in the surrounding air which causes the water to condense and come out as
rain. This is important because when the temperature of the air parcel is higher, it will rise higher in
the troposphere and the higher the cloud is in the troposphere, the more rain that will fall. Also, the
modeling tool tells us that storms 2 and 3 had all the same factors ( water vapor, troposphere
temperature and surface water) but, the parcel temperature, was higher in storm 3 which caused it to
have more rain. Lastly, the reason why the weather has been acting up is the new lake. The lake is
causing more evaporation (the process by which a liquid changes into a gas). This is important
because the more evaporation there is, the more condensation (the process by which a gas changes
into a

Orange Is The New Black Analysis
From the very start of Orange is the New Black , creator Jenji Kohan has made it clear that gender
identity and sexuality will feel like a normality in this series. Viewers are to forget what gender
inequality is and see these characters as everyday people. Kohan breaks the rules of traditional male
gaze and phallocentric cinema. These characters are not your typical females. Kohan flips the switch
by setting this series in a women s correctional facility. Up until the last few centuries, female
characters in film and television have been portrayed in a softer light. They are supposed to be pretty

the good guys.(Chen) As a spectator, we view them in the completely opposite position. We are drawn
to the stories and the lives of the women in this prison. We feel for them and want to help them. The
men, on the other hand, have the disadvantage in this series. They are the enemy. This may seem
uncomfortable for some male spectators.(Goldrich) There could be less likelihood for men to enjoy
this series. But what were Jenji s intentions in having all these gender battles? Is this her way of
showing opposition or does she really just not like

Cooley Distillery Essay
Cooley Distillery: The Independent Spirit of Ireland Cooley Distillery, found in Dundalk, Co. Louth,
was the first new whiskey distillery to be set up in Ireland in over 100 years and it is Ireland s
youngest, smallest and only independent whiskey distillery ( The Cooley Distillery ). John Teeling, a
successful business enthusiast, investor, and Harvard Business school scholar, who found great
interest and opportunity in Irish whiskey, established it in 1987. Cooley began distilling in 1989. The
origins of Irish whiskey dates back to around 600 A.D., when Irish monks brought the alembic and the
secret of distillation from the Middle East, according to the history of Irish Distillers. The Irish name

The macro environment surrounding alcohol sales and consumption has generally been stable and has
experienced incremental growth throughout history. In the United States, the number of per capita
consumption of alcohol has declined slightly, but has consistently remained around 2.5 gallons, per
person, per year. The lower class, specifically females in the lower class are responsible for a majority
of alcohol consumption in the United States. The highest per capita consumption worldwide is as
follows: Luxembourg, Ireland, France, Hungary, and Denmark, (the US ranks 22nd.) According to one
article, the beverage alcohol industry contributed over $21 billion directly to state and local revenues
during 2010. Of that amount, distilled spirits accounted for over $8.8 billion or 41% of this direct
revenue ( Distillery Spirits ).
The Irish whiskey industry in particular has suffered tremendously in the 20th century. in 1779,
Ireland had 1,200 distilleries that accounted for nearly 60% of the world market. However, into the
80s, there were only two remaining distilleries. At its lowest point, Irish whiskey sales accounted for
only 2% of scotch whiskey sales, and seemed that it would inevitably be obsolete. However, there was

Rfid ( Radio Frequency Identification )
INTRODUCTION
RFID (radio frequency identification) is a technology that was originally developed for use in
transponders in aircrafts during the Second World War. RFID is an information and sensor technology
that can be attached or inserted into objects to collect data through reader devices and tags. It uses
wireless radio waves to transmit and uses devices such as RFID readers, RFID tags, and middleware.
The RFID system consists of three components
1. The transponder, which is a small electronic data carrying tag that is attached to the product to be
identified.
2. A reader that uses radio frequency signals to communicate with the tag
3. A data processing system that stores information about the tagged products.
RFID tags are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
RFID has also gained significant foothold in supply chain and manufacturing.
RFID IN WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
In the last decade RFID has gained popularity in the logistics and supply chain management fields.
Many warehouses are taking into consideration the adoption of RFID to reduce the operating cost
against the requirement to build an automatic warehouse and labour intensive manual checking. For
warehousing the parameters include communication range, amount of transmittable data,
communication time and speed of tag communication. The communication range is the distance
within which the reader can transmit or receive data to the tag. Beyond this range the items become
undetectable. The amount of data that is transmitted between the tag and reader affects the
performance in terms of transmission time and accuracy. The communication time also impacts the
performance of the RFID system. There is a choke point which is the fixed reader and the RFID is
constrained to a maximum travel velocity when passing the fixed reader location. When travelling
beyond this speed the accuracy to read is very close to zero. So when greater volume of data is passing
the tag will have to essentially pass the reader more slowly for an accurate read, especially in
warehouses.
In a warehouse four activities generally occur. In the first activity the receiving dock receives the
shipments that arrive at from the factory. With the

A Business Entity Structure Like Limited Liability Company
In today s era they re many business structures like sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability
companies (LLC), and corporations in which individuals uses to start their own business. Any types of
business structure that you may choose will have legal and tax implications (SBA, 2016). If I were to
start my own business, I would choose a business entity structure like Limited Liability Company
(LLC). A limited liability company is a mix type of legal structure that provides the limited liability
features of a corporation and the tax efficiencies and operational flexibility of a partnership (SBA,
2016).
Types of Business Structure
There are several business structures that one could use to start a new business and to make a present
business much more operative and inclusive. The business structures that will be talked about in the

Corporations
Sole Proprietorship
A sole proprietor is the most modest and common structure chosen to start a business (SBA, 2016).
Someone who owns an independent business is usually a sole proprietor. They are no legal action
needed to form a sole proprietorship. Sole proprietors are entitled to all profits and are responsible for
all your business s debts, losses and liabilities (SBA 2016).

Heights Is Good For The Jews By George J. Sanchez
The assigned readings offered an engaging view of the new suburban life emerging in California
during the postwar years of the 1940s and 1950s. During this time, California was becoming heavily
populated and was experiencing an increased demand for housing. In Holy Land, D.J. Waldie
discussed the rise of the suburbs in Southern California, the creation of tract housing and shopping
centers, and the 1950s illusion that everyone could be middle class (Waldie, 4 85). As suburban areas
were developing and emerging within Southern California, a neighborhood was challenging the
conservative norm of the time by allowing racial diversity within the area. In What s Good for Boyle
Heights is Good for the Jews, George J. Sánchez s tells the forgotten history of Boyle Heights, a
suburb of Los Angeles, praised for being one of America s first communities to embrace racial
diversity. During a time of severe bigotry against African Americans, Asian Americans, and Latino
Americas, Jewish residents of Boyle Heights were able to respect and accept minorities of color living
within their community (Sánchez, 633 657). The postwar years in California demonstrated the
extraordinary power the state had in developing suburbs and how a small district within the Los
Angeles area was able to challenge the status quo on racial diversity.
I was intrigued to read George J. Sánchez s What s Good for Boyle Heights is Good for the Jews for
its social and racial significance. For example, in the

Transformative Leadership In Social Work
Transformative leadership is a leadership style that aids employees to make positive changes within
the organization while also guiding them to become successful future leaders. Part of being a
successful leader in the human services field means helping their social service workers recognize that
they are called upon to display specific characteristics that help guide and shape the lives of the clients
they serve. In order to assist clients successfully, social service workers must learn and understand
diversity and what it means to be self aware. In addition, social workers must address their personal
values, examine how they perceive the work they do and understand how this perception affects other
members of their staff. The text ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harry had been successful in the computer program, so much so that he stayed longer than the allotted
time that had been set for him. The length of time he stayed made it impossible for others to enjoy the
computer program. The solution to this issue was to have Harry become a tutor. However, due to
Harry s mental illness, he was malodorous and refused to brush his teeth. His hygiene issues prevented
clients in the computer program from wanting to be tutored by Harry and efforts to send him to the
self care group had been unsuccessful. During the meeting, there was a discussion about having to
remove Harry from the program to make room for other clients. However, pulling Harry from the
program could cause him to regress. Because Angelina perceived her work to be meaningful and
rewarding, she worked hard to find a solution to Harry s challenges. However, this perception affected
the relationship with other staff because people working in other departments lacked the same
empathy for Angelina s client. For example, Nigel Melegore, the assistant for health services showed
impatience and voiced his irritation because he felt mental illness had no bearing on someone s lack of

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles ( Uav )
Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), are pilotless and non crewed aircraft that are
capable of flight either by remote control or through the use of on board computers. Other names for
these types of aircraft are remotely piloted vehicle (RPV), remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), and
remotely operated aircraft (ROA). Drones are commonly used by the military, but are also being
implemented in search and rescue operations and being utilized in other civil applications, such as
policing and firefighting. The technology is also allowing for hobbyists and other enthusiasts to
become avid drone operators, albeit on a relatively smaller scale. During the American Civil War, an
inventor patented an unmanned balloon that carried explosives that could be dropped after a time
delay fuse mechanism triggered the basket to overturn its contents. Air currents and weather patterns
made it difficult to estimate for how long to set the fuse, and the balloon was never successfully
deployed. By 1883, the first aerial photograph was taken using a kite, a camera and a very long string
attached to the shutter release of the camera. In 1898, this technology was put to use in the Spanish
American War, resulting in the first military aerial reconnaissance photos. World War I saw the
development and testing of various radio controlled unmanned aircraft, but none emerged from the
testing phase in time to be used before the war ended. In the¬ 1930s, the British Royal Navy

Hoosiers
There are several leadership styles represented in the film Hoosiers. This movie brings two different
concepts called transactional leadership and transformational leadership. Transactional leadership
styles are more concerned with maintaining the normal flow of operations, whereas a transformational
leader goes beyond managing the daily tasks for leading their followers to success. Transactional
leadership styles also include trying to establish direction, aligning people, they are dedicated to
communication, creating teams, motivation and inspiration. A transformational leadership styles

Another way that Coach Norman Dale encouraged confidence in his followers was by keeping them
focused on their present task and familiarizing each one of them with their particular job on the court.
It is important to mention some of the characters such as Jimmy, the shooter, and the teacher (Myra
Fleeter). Jimmy is one of the best players in the team but he rejects to play with new coach. Therefore,
coach needs to find a way to bring him back to the team. He uses reverse psychology in the situation
when he explains Jimmy that team is all of them, not just him . Here coach shows expert power
because he uses prior knowledge probably from previous situations in his life. When we talk about the
shooter and his relationship with the coach, we can say that coach chooses the shooter for his assistant
for several reasons. Firs of all, the shooter knows a lot about basketball so he shows the expert power.
Also, Coach Dale gives him another chance because people deserve another chance . Also, some other
people have previously put their trust in him by giving him, Coach Dale, a second chance. In the case
of Myra Fleener, it can be said that she displays a very autocratic leadership style. She attempts to lead
Coach Norman Dale with a firm hand with very little input. She pretends to ignore and put off what
the coach has to say, but towards the end of the film she takes Norman s side and adjusts her
leadership style to a more democratic view. She agrees with the coach that

The major strength of the IQ tests is that it provides a rough estimate of the ability of a test taker. I
personally do not test well even though I know the material I seem to get nervous and overthink the
information. The results of these kind of tests are used to estimate future performance. The IQ test can
tell us, predict and test what weaknesses are for a child under 8 years old might have. I believe that the
IQ test determines whether or not someone is smart or not. Although, that might not be the case the IQ
tests have some strengths and weakness. According to my textbook, there is not a good grasp on what
intelligence really is. There are positive outcomes for the IQ testing. Some of the strengths for testing
young children is that it allows teachers and parents to channel additional resources to the students.

The Human Condition Analysis
The Human Condition in Music Throughout time, artists, musicians, and composers have been using
their various artforms as an outlet, a way to express themselves in a way rather than written word or
oral expression. For these artists, many times composition and performing music allows them to study
the human condition in a deeper, more personalized, yet relatable way, much like Arthur Miller
exhibited in Death of a Salesman. Though various other art forms are used to express this, it is music
that allows the composer, performer, or listener to examine an aspect or sometimes multiple aspects of
the human condition, including: birth, growth, love, emotionality, aspiration, conflict, and mortality.
These exhibitions have spanned from the early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emotionality is found to be an important aspect of any kind of artistic study. Those who choose to
contribute in artistic advances such as drawing, painting, literature, theater, or music are continually
pressured to convey more emotion within their works. For example, Ella Fitzgerald s 1958 rendition
of Blue Skies uses a presto tempo and E major key to suggest the same feelings as Arthur Miller
wished to convey by describing how Willy Loman believes the aristocrats must feel. To similarly
convey this, Ella sings, I never saw the sun shining so bright, never saw things going so right. Willy
believes that the aristocrats must feel similarly to this due to the fact that to Willy everything seems to
be going deplorably. Willy believes that if one is not plagued with the idea of being unable to provide
for his family, then they must be living as Fitzgerald suggests. Moreover, leaping to 2009, Eric
Whitacre, a newfound Juilliard graduate in composition, had noticed a fan of his works had posted a
video of herself singing the soprano part of his newly composed piece, Sleep . Eric, resonating in the
purity and innocence of the video he had watched, began a project to connect people from around the

The Effects Of Anime And Related Products On The American...
Anime over the past few decades has decade increasing important in American society. This is
important as anime and related products generate over 1/3 of international media revenue (Shirong Lu,

the United States, with people young and old playing and catching Pokémon. Every year in California,
Anime Expo was held bringing over people from all around the world. This year there was overall
turnout of over 300,000 people to the convention. Funimation, a leading supplier of anime across
North America, has convert several animes since 1994, creating an English version for viewers to

dressing as different anime characters and attend different events. Anime has a huge impact today not
only in the United States, in the several other countries around the world, converting into over 30
languages (Shirong Lu, 2009). It is important to see how people view race in anime since it has an
international audience.

Symptoms And Prevalence Rate Of Adolescents
Symptoms and prevalence rate
This is a serious mental illness that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. Schizophrenia
means a split mind and this may be the misconception of split personality took root. It is hard for a
person who has this illness to distinguish between real and imagined experiences. Schizophrenics may
hear internal voices that are not heard by others or may see things that are really not there.
Psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions usually emerge in men in their late teens
early 20 s and women in their mid 20 to early 30 s. In adolescents, the first sign can include change of

The risk for inheriting schizophrenia is 10 percent in those who have an immediate family member

Antipsychotic medication shortens the duration of psychosis in Schizophrenia, and prevents
recurrences (but psychotic relapses can still occur under stress). Usually it takes years before
individuals can accept that they have Schizophrenia and need medication. Life long treatment with
antipsychotic medication is essential for recovery from Schizophrenia. Course and age of onset
Study shows that people with schizophrenia recover fully, and lots of others people improve to the

Fortunately, this accounts for the common cases. However, about 15 percent of individuals with

Blood Glucose Level Changes Due Exercise And Serving Size
Introduction
Our whole project is surrounded around blood glucose level changes due exercise and serving size, so
that brings about the question of what is blood glucose? Blood glucose is the sugar that is moved
throughout the bloodstream to provide energy to all cells in the body. In simple terms, it is very
important biological occurrence that drives the body by giving it the raw energy to power all the body
s functions. To test for this occurrence, there are two main methods to test for the levels of blood
glucose in the bloodstream. One method is having the blood drawn intravenously, getting blood drawn
using a needle, and sending it to a lab to conduct the action. The other method that is much more
convenient and less costly is using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The kidneys are quite busy forming about 160 liters of filtrate daily (Powis, 1985, p. 182). This is very
important because it is through the liver and kidneys that the nutrients start traveling through the
bloodstream, especially glucose, sugar. Glucose is the favored energy fuel for most cells of the body
(Silverstein, 1994, p. 28). Glucose is essentially sugar, which is the primitive source of energy for
most of living organisms, and humans are no exception. Normally people have the biochemistry
within their bodies to regulate their own blood sugar levels. However, this is not the case for some
people, unfortunately, due to factors. The hormone insulin, which, helps sugar enter the body cells, is
basically inactive in some people, which causes their whole biological system to start to
deteriorate(Goodheart, 1990, p. 117). This is known as diabetes. Diabetes can come in two types, i.e
type 1 and 2, which are caused by genetics or poor dietary habits. This can cause conditions like
hyperglycemia, which is, a blood sugar level that is higher than normal (Goodheart, 1990, p.117). The
opposite of this is hypoglycemia, which is, a blood sugar that is lower than normal (Goodheart, 1990,
p.117). Research into blood glucose was then extensively done to help out with managing diabetes
since there was no cure. This led to the creation of synthetic insulin that diabetics inject themselves to
regulate their levels and

since I am one that loves to indulge myself in the local culture and just learn as much as I can when I
am there. I decided on Germany, as that is one country I have spent the most time in, and one of my
best friends (that is born and raised there) is from there. I have always enjoyed the history and culture
of that country as well.
Hours Worked/Minimum Working Age When I lived in Germany I always thought it was frustrating
that everything was closed on Sundays; as Sundays are my days for grocery shopping, errands and
getting things ready for the following week. I had to learn to re do my routines to accommodate this;
but fortunately, being in Germany as military personnel, I was able to go on post (or base) to get
necessary shopping done as well since American posts/bases were run by American law. Germany has
a law in place that dictates the amount of hours per day/week/year that a person can work and this law
is the Working Time Act (WTA). According to Jung (2001), the

How Did Malcolm X Affect The Civil Right Movement
Malcolm X and the Black Panthers both the profoundly affected the goals of the civil right movement.
Malcolm X was born on May 19th, 1925 in Omaha Nebraska. Earl Little, (Malcolm s father) was an
outspoken Baptist minister and an avid supporter of the Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey.
Malcom graduated at the top of his class however when a teacher told him that his dream of becoming
a lawyer was no realistic goal for a nigger (Genius, 2016), these words greatly impacted him and
caused him to leave school. Malcom s journey that caused him to affect the civil right movement were
motivated by his unprivileged past, as he had been involved in various crimes and directed by
misleading guidance, none the less moulding him into an influential figure. Similarly, in October
1966, in Oakland California, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panther Party for Self
Defense. The Panthers practiced militant self defense of minority communities against the U.S
government, and fought to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community
based programs. The party was on the first organizations un U.S history to militantly struggle for
ethnic minority and work class emancipation. Both of Malcolm X and the Black Panthers had goals to
change the way African Americans were treated throughout America.
Malcolm X was a black political speaker, activist and Muslim minister. He had a dark past, which
affected and helped him in changing the way many African

Deformity In Jekyll And Hyde
Dr. Henry Jekyll in Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) seems to be an enthusiastic
scientist just as Shelley describes Victor Frankenstein. Though Victor Frankenstein reports his own
story to Captain Walton, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is narrated by different points of
view, mainly from lawyer Utterson, a close friend of Jekyll and in charge of executing Jekyll s last
will. Thus, no background of Jekyll is provided. It is only mentioned that he lives in a splendid home
in 19th century London with multiple rooms and a laboratory, and that he has servants to his dispose.
When Utterson first meets Hyde, he is described as someone unnormal with evil hints. His exterior
generates feelings of disgust and even unease to other characters. His deformity is described on a
physical and on a moral level (and thus, differs from the depiction of Frankenstein s creature): Mr.
Hyde was pale and dwarfish, he gave an impression of deformity without any nameable malformation,

While Hyde may be seen as merely an embodiment of evil ( ... and Edward Hyde, alone in the ranks
of mankind, was pure evil. , Stevenson, 78), there can also be the interpretation that it is only the side

neglect of emotions is a result of acting or pretending to be a gentleman: ... I concealed my pleasures
and that when I reached years of reflection, and began to look round me and take stock of my progress
and position in the world, I stood already committed to a profound duplicity of life. (Stevenson 73).
Hyde can be regarded as monstrous as he disregards other humans shown in the way he treats them

insider of society who puts a threat upon

Tom Stoppard and the Crime-Writing Genre
Mankind has perpetually maintained a fascination with what constitutes a crime and enjoyed piecing
together the clues that authors of the crime genre provide us in solving their mysteries, thus appealing
to our curiosity in the darker side of our humanity. The crime writing genre embodies humankind in its
fullest, revealing our potential for both good and evil, a notion that is responsible for the genre s cross
contextual survival and universal appeal. It is due to this undying interest that writers of crime texts
have the ability to subvert conventions and thereby deconstruct the philosophical and psychological
assumptions that crime fiction is constructed upon. By subverting the conventions of the crime writing
genre, composers are able to more freely explore issues concerning their respective contexts, a
significant factor that has contributed to the genre s endurance. Tom Stoppard s play The Real
Inspector Hound is a post modern text which utilises its absurdist nature to reflect the nihilistic
philosophy of crime. The text simultaneously adheres to and discards the conventions of the crime
genre through its employment of parody and its satirical characteristics.
Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound , first performed in 1968, is a one act play and dual satire
of Agatha Christie s conventional Golden Age, cosy locked room mystery The Mousetrap and the
crime writing genre itself. Though the setting of the action is in a theatre, the play within a play is set

Greatest Generations, Tom Brokaw
The book The Greatest Generation , by Tom Brokaw, is about the men and women who were born in
the 1920 s and how they are what he deems to be the greatest generation thus far. He believes this
generation is so tremendous because of the fact they did not demand respect for what they did and
went through. Though may sacrificed as much as their lives, they do not think higher of themselves.
Even through all their struggling they managed to have enough strength leave everything behind and
fight for their country. I believe Tom Brokaw is correct when he says they are there greatest
generation. People then would support the war and the men who fought in it, whereas nowadays there
are just as many people against war, fighting, and the men and ... Show more content on

Respiratory Acidosis Essay
Respiratory acidosis is when the lungs are unable to remove the normal amount of carbon dioxide as
the body produces it. This leads to an increase in PaCO2 (hypercapnia) which lowers HCO3. The
blood becomes too acidic because of the excess amount of CO2. The average range for PaCO2 is 35
45m Hg. Respiratory acidosis is caused by an issue with the lungs ability to remove CO2 properly, a
form of lung disease. Most causes are asthma, neuromuscular disorders, obesity and COPD. The lungs
and the kidneys regulate the body s pH. Lungs remove CO2 and the kidneys remove acid through the
urine. Treatment would include bronchodilator drugs to open airways, oxygen therapy and a breathing
machine might be prescribed. A person that is much older is more likely to develop this type of disease
since the strength of the kidneys and lungs has weekend with age. Also certain medications can affect
the pH balance of the body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to a decline in PCO2 and increases pH. The Main cause for Respiratory alkalosis is
hyperventilation which is over breathing. Panic attacks (anxiety), heart attack, drug use, asthma, fever,
COPD and pulmonary embolism can cause respiratory alkalosis. Again, the lungs here are important
in keeping the blood pH balanced by releasing the perfect amount of carbon dioxide. Treatment is
dependent on the cause of respiratory alkalosis. For instance, if it was for anxiety you would exhale
into a paper bag carbon dioxide and breathe that into the lungs. Doing this can restore the carbon
dioxide back into the body. The body s pH depends on the kidneys and lungs so in elderly it is much
harder to maintain this balance due to the decline in the kidneys and the lungs ability to

St. Margaret Of Scotland Essay
St. Margaret of Scotland was born in present day Hungary around 1046. She had two siblings named
Edgar and Cristina. St. Margaret grew up extremely privileged. She was the daughter of English
prince, Edward the Exile, and granddaughter of Edmund Ironside, king of England. She and her
family were very religious, as was the Hungarian court. Still young, Margaret moved to England with
her family. Her father died, therefore her brother was considered as a possible successor to the English
throne. But it was some time until her brother was finally proclaimed as king. He was considered too
young when his father died, so Harold Godwinson was elected king. After his defeat at the battle of
Hastings, Edgar was finally given the title as king. Agatha, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Margaret died just three days after finding hearing the news her son and husband has passed. She had
just turned fifty, but her life of constant fasting had taken its toll and made Margaret ill.
St. Margaret was canonized a saint in 1250 by Pope Innocent IV in recognition of her personal
holiness, fidelity to the Church, work for religious reform, and charity. On June 19th, 1250, her
remains were taken to a chapel in Dunfermline Abbey where she was buried before the high altar.
Today, we celebrate her feast day on November 16th (the day of her death.) She is patron of Scotland
and known as The Pearl of Scotland. There are hundreds of schools named after St. Margaret that
remember her reformation of the church and help to the poor.
I chose St. Margaret as my patron saint because she gave a lot of time and money to the poor. She read
the Bible daily, even though people (like her husband) didn t have the same beliefs as her. She was
focused on her faith and encouraged people in her life to live a devout life and grow in prayer and
holiness. I admire that she barely slept every night and fasted often in order to spend more time
worshipping the Lord. St. Margaret is someone who I will continue to admire even after my

Essay about John Edwards Biography
John Edwards Biography
Many Americans recognize John Edwards as the second coming of Jimmy Carter; the soft spoken
Democratic Senator from the south. They know him as the running mate of John Kerry in his 2004
Presidential campaign. But before the North Carolina Senator entertained aspirations of President or
Vice President of the United States, John Edwards made a name for himself as a successful trial
lawyer, a strong husband and father, and charismatic politician.
Born in Seneca, South Carolina on June 10th 1953, Johnny Reid Edwards was raised a Methodist and
learned the values of hard work and perseverance from his father, Wallace and mother, Bobbie, while
growing up in Robbins, North Carolina. Working alongside his father in ... Show more content on

In Congress, Senator Edwards quickly emerged as a champion for the issues that make a difference to
American families: quality health care, better schools, protecting civil liberties, preserving the
environment, saving Social Security and Medicare, and reforming the ways campaigns are financed.
As a member of the Select Committee on Intelligence, Senator Edwards worked tirelessly for a strong
national defense, and strengthening the security of our homeland. He authored key pieces of
legislation on Internet and port security, as well as biological terrorism. During the latter part of 2001
and throughout 2002, Edwards engaged in serious politicking, and on January 2, 2003, he announced
the formation of a presidential exploratory committee, declaring himself a champion for regular folks.
On September 16th 2003, in front of the old Milliken Mill (his father s workplace of thirty six years)
in Robbins, North Carolina, Sen. Edwards formally announced his candidacy for President during the
2004 elections. Although there was no rule or law against his inhabitance of a Senate seat while
running for President, John Edwards announced that he would not seek re election, so that he could
focus all of his efforts toward his Presidential campaign.
Some viewed Edwards as a very viable candidate, given his success as a Senator in North Carolina.

From 1812 to 1857, the Grimm Brothers collected and shared stories that continue to be told to this
day. Middle class women that were recognized for their storytelling abilities would visit the Grimm

from fairy tales, horror stories, tall tales and comical accounts (578). Foreign rule created a strong

causing the stampede and goaded by his uncle Scar to run away. Scar then sends his hyenas to hunt

journey. These hyenas are the same hyenas that Mufasa saved Simba from; so now Simba is alone,
afraid, and unwilling to fight. Finally Simba escapes into the heat and despair of the desert. When
Simba gives up, he is saved by the comedic duo Timon and Pumba. Timon and Pumba take in Simba,

Mount Vesuvius s Eruption In Italy
1. Mount Vesuvius is known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the burying and destruction of
Roman cities in Italy as well as other settlements.
The eruption ejected a cloud of stones and ache to a height of 33 km, ultimately releasing a hundred
thousand times the thermal energy released by the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.
Roughly more than 1,000 people died in the eruption, but no exact numbers are unknown.
The most famous eruption occurred in 79 AD
There has been no eruptions since 1944, and none of the eruptions after 79 AD were as large or
destructive as the one that happened to pompeii.
The eruptions vary greatly in severity but are characterized by explosive outbursts of the kind dubbed

The magnetic study revealed that on the first day of the eruption a fall of white pumice containing
clastic fragments of up to 3 centimeters fell for several hours.
Since the eruption of AD 79, Vesuvius has erupted around three dozen times.
The eruptions of 512 were so severe that those inhabiting the slopes of Vesuvius were granted
exemption from taxes by Theodoric the Great, the Gothic king of Italy.
Further eruptions were recorded in 787, 968, 991, 999, 1007 and 1036 with the first recorded lava
flows.
Vesuvius entered a new phase in December 1631, when a major eruption buried many villages under
lava flows, killing around 3,000 people.
The eruption of April 05 in 1906, killed more than 100 people and ejected the most lava ever recorded
from a Venusian eruption.
At the time of the eruption, the United States Army Air Forces 340thBombardment Group was based
at Pompeii Airfield near Terzigno Italy, just a few kilometers from the eastern base of the volcano.

Arguments For Self Identification
A different argument for self identification comes from an old social norm developed during the era of
slavery known as the one drop rule. This rule states that a multiracial person is assigned to the race
with the lowest social standing among the races represented. Going off of previous history and other
social norms, the hierarchy would be as follows: non Hispanic white, Asian, Latinos, and lastly black.
When forcing a youth to choose between one of their multiple races, those with some black or Latino
heritage are far more likely to report being black or Latino than those with white or Asian heritage are
to report being white or Asian (Herman 2009). Herman s study in 2009 examines the difference in
grades between students of mixed races. Her ultimate conclusion is that self identification is the main
indicating factor in academic achievement. Students possessing black or Latino ancestry are
associated with decreased grades whereas students with white or Asian ancestry tend to do better.
However, she also looked at the difference in grades between students of the same biracial category
who self identify differently. Those who identify as Asian or white do significantly better in school
than those who identify as black or Latino. An interesting conclusion from the study shows that where
there is a difference between those who identify as Asian and those who identify as white, there is
almost no difference in if the student identifies as black or Latino. In an attempt to

Hepatic Portal Vein Obstruction ( Ehpvo )
Introduction: Extra hepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO), i.e., in the absence of liver cirrhosis or
abdominal cancer, is a rare manifestation of venous thrombosis that often leads to portal
hypertension1.After prothrombin, factor V, next most common cause of thrombophilia is high plasma
levels of coagulation factor VIII, which are present in approximately 20% of patients with deep vein
thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limbs and increase the risk of the disease in a dose dependent manner
2. Like fibrinogen, factor VIII is an acute phase reactant whose concentration rises in plasma in the
presence of inflammation. However, high factor VIII levels are associated with an increased risk of
DVT independently of the acute phase reaction3.
Case report: A 21 year old male in good health and with no significant past medical history presented
with abdominal pain for 2 months in epigastric and left hypochondrium. He is not on any drugs.
History of similar complaints in his younger sister and she died 2 years back without any evaluation. A

Robot Design Flaws
I would change the change both our programming and our overall robot design. The programming was
not precise or consistent enough and the driving section of the robot could easily get caught on the
wall in the starting box.
Our programming had several major flaws that we did not have time to fix; among these flaws was the
inconsistency of switching between steering blocks and tank moving blocks. Some of the movement
blocks would go for a certain number of seconds at a rather strong power, which resulted in the robot
taking a slightly different path every time it ran through the code. We did not consider the level of
precision of the motors. Because of this, we coded our robot to move quickly, resulting in it always

Multinational Business Corporations Gain More Power
The world is entering a period where corporations are gaining more power in society. Multinational
business corporations will ultimately become more powerful than the government. Corporations
influence decisions made by the government by providing campaign funding and lobbying. Businesses
strive to satisfy their consumers wants and needs far well than the government strives to satisfy the
wants of its population. Financial crisis and recession can begin in areas where jobs provided by
corporations are lost, granting businesses power over the job market and gross domestic product. This
essay will address how corporations are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some corporations have larger revenue than the gross domestic product of some countries. Walmart
makes more revenue than Norway s GDP: Norway is the world s 25th largest country with a GDP at
$414.46 billion however still lower than Walmart s revenue which is $421.89 billion (Trivett, 2011).
Developing countries work very hard to attract foreign investments because corporations reward
thousands with jobs, benefit shareholders (rise share prices) and increase global well being. If a
corporation falls down, financial crisis and recession can begin. This power forces the government
keep corporations alive and satisfied so they continue to provide jobs for local residents.
In conclusion, these trends are allowing businesses to play a significantly larger role in people s daily
lives than the government. Corporations continue to grow as they invest in foreign countries thus
increasing their revenue and influencing local societies. Populations are beginning to look at
companies to solve social problems and corporations are doing it at a faster rate than the government.
Lastly, corporations are viewed in a higher regard in the eyes of the public versus the government.
Therefore, corporations will gain more power than the government if these trends continue to strive.

Reflection Of The Finding Meaning, Joy And Happiness Project
Upon completion of the requirements necessary to finish section one of the Finding Meaning, Joy and
Happiness Project, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy tracking my daily habits became. Between
the fitness log, eating log, and sleep log, I found it the most tedious to keep up with every workout I
did. However, once I got into the mindset of tracking these three areas every day, it became
increasingly easier to remember. The genetics/risk taking table also helped me to pinpoint potential
risks my family is accustomed to and figure out different precautions I can take to limit my risk.
The first section of this assignment was my Fitness Log, where I kept track of my specific activity for
sixteen days, including what I did and how long I did it for. Initially, this log was the most difficult for
me to keep track of. I have always been fairly adamant regarding my fitness schedule, so the activity
itself was not a challenge. After completing the log, I got to look back and see the pattern of my
workouts which helped me to better understand the results. I noticed my workouts consisted heavily of
the three areas I enjoy working on the most; cardio, core, and my lower body. There were days that I
felt too sore to move, while other days I did not notice much pain at all. The most exciting part of
keeping track of my fitness was noticing the progress I continually made, the cardio consistently got
easier to finish each time, and the area specific workouts also got less

ACF/Trend/Seasonality To determine which forecast model would best fit the NHS data, we must
examine several items: correlation of the data, existence or absence of trend and/or seasonality and
stationarity of data. Autocorrelation is the examination of the correlation of data between successive
observations over time (Wilson, Keating, John Galt Solutions, 2009, p. 84). Figure 2 shows the
autocorrelation factor (ACF) for the NHS data set. Because all the data is above the upper limit line,
there appears to be a positive trend present for the 12 month forecast. Upon further examination, the
ACF does not quickly fall to zero confirming a significant presence of trend. Seasonality can be
assumed by looking at the sharp up and down movement of the data in figure 1. The data is considered
stationary if the ACF is mainly contained within the upper and lower bounds as illustrate in figure 3.

Quotes About Joe Louis
Joe Louis was a Black American professional boxer who helped bring together White and Black
Americans during the Great Depression. White and Black Americans were segregated during that time
which resulted in hostility and hatred toward the other race. Rumours would be made about the other
race and a race could be thought of as superior to another. Joe Louis gained respect by many of
different races for winning the heavyweight world championship in 1937, and continuing to hold it
until 1949. Joe Louis served as a hero for blacks in the South because he was able to prove that Black
Americans were just as good as White Americans. The reason Joe Louis became accepted by White
Americans during that time was because he showed class and was patriotic ... Show more content on

In the South for Black Americans, Joe Louis served as a way of fighting for equality. Joe Louis gave
the Southern Blacks hope and confidence through the Great Depression as well as life. The reason it
gave many Black Americans confidence was because he let the world know that a Black was just as
good, if not better, than a white. After Joe Louis became heavyweight champion of the world, this
made some Whites angry knowing that a Black man had bested one of their own. In I Know Why The
Caged Bird Sings on page 136, Maya portrays the fear in Southern Black Americans knowing Joe
Louis had won. It would take an hour or more before the people would leave the Store and head for
home. Those who lived too far had made arrangements to stay in town. It wouldn t do for a Black man
and his family to be caught on a lonely country road on a night when Joe Louis had proved that we
were the strongest people in the world. Maya knew the instant Joe Louis had won, that Whites were
angry and wanting revenge. Joe Louis s victory was a great deal for the segregated South, and not so
much for the North. The North wasn t as ridden of hate, prejudice, and racism as the South. In the
North, Jim Crow laws were not common, because citizens living there treated everyone almost as an
equal. The North didn t have much of an affect due to Louis s victory because people viewed Louis as
a regular man. In

Style Of Change In Pygmalion
The written task is based on Pygmalion written by George Bernard Shaw. The aim of this task was to
introduce their changes in life which is based on two appealing characters: Henry Higgins and Eliza
Doolittle.
The reason of I chose new article was because it was a common and formal type of media which
describes a phenomenon or an occasion that is appropriate to describe the changes around these two
characters. Eliza Doolittle came across as being much more instrumental than fundamental,
Her change has shown after the ambassador s party when she decides to stand up for her own pride
against Henry Higgin s oblivious response. Higgins was a contradiction person, his altitude changes as
his mood changes, however; he has changed to treat anyone in the same manner in any circumstance.
That made me to create a news article for those short stories.

Before you read, think of those questions in your mind: Have you ever thought about daily life of the
upper class? Have you ever observed a person s change or contribute to change a person? Or have you
ever imagined why we want to change? Without further ado, we are glad to share with you the story of
changes in Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle.
Eliza is a poor girl from the streets who turns out to be a brilliant and beautiful young woman. She s
smart, independent, and feisty. The change of Eliza Doolittle is significant, she has changed the way
she talked, the way she dressed and even the way she thought. I believe that you are now very curious
about how she has changed. Let s walk into Eliza s story. Before Eliza first encountered Henry
Higgins, she was simply a dirty, yet caring girl in the gutter of London. During her time with both Mr.
Higgins and Colonel Pickering, Eliza did change, for the fist few weeks of her stay in Wimpole Street,
she questioned and rejected everything that Higgins asked her to do, and generally couldn t see how
they would help

Rise Of Japanese Imperialism
Japan, one of the great powers of the world, which just 200 years ago, was an undeveloped nation
moving along at a speed drastically less than that of the rest of the world. How was it then, that Japan
was able to industrialize and modernize so quickly in such few years, even with its centuries of
traditional protocol and isolation from the world? Even through the country s complete destruction
from World War 2, and having to start from basically ground zero in terms of its industries and social
advancement, Japan was able to quickly rise up and become on the world s largest technological and
industrial powerhouses.
During the 19th century, Japan began to revolutionize its old regimes and integrate many aspects of

The Life Style of The Platypus Essay
The platypus is a very unique and interesting mammal. It is only one of five species
on Earth in the order Monotremata. The order Monotremata is the order that lays eggs.
The platypus is the only egg laying mammal known to this day ( The Amazing
Platypus ). The average number of eggs the female platypus lays is only two at one
time. The female lays the eggs in a hole that is specifically made for laying the eggs. The
male platypus becomes more active during breeding time compared to his every day
lifestyle ( Egg Laying Mammals ). After the female lays the eggs, they are incubated for
about ten to fourteen days. After the egg has hatched, the platypus infants will stay with
their mother until they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The platypus has very acute eyesight, and its eyes are very small. The platypus only
opens its eyes above water so it can detect movement on the riverbank. The platypus can hear
very similar to the way humans hear. They are very sensitive to low frequencies that humans
cannot hear ( DPIPWE Platypus in Tasmania ). The platypus is about the size of a normal cat.
They are between thirty and sixty centimeters long, and they weigh two to four pounds. The tail
of the platypus is just used to store fat instead of used for swimming. Also, the platypus has to
keep swimming in order to stay underwater or else they would float ( Platypus facts Duck billed
Platypuses Monotremes ).
The lifestyle of the platypus is very simple because the platypus does the same thing nearly
every day. They spend nearly twelve hours a day searching for food in the water. The platypus
can eat its own body weight in just one night! The reproduction stage of the platypus is quite
simple. The two mate underwater, and the female lays her eggs in the burrow made for the eggs.
The eggs usually hatch after one month, and the young suck on mammary glands on the mother s
stomach for their milk ( Platypus Facts ). The young ones suck on mammary glands because
the mother lacks nipples ( Platypus facts, Information, Pictures ). Since the platypus is
underwater most of the time, its food is an easy guess. They eat

Workplace Diversity Essay
Corporate America is seeing a shift in workforce demographics, with the terms workplace diversity
being thrown around in meetings across many large organizations. There are many definitions and
interpretations of workplace diversity, but the this paper will define workplace diversity as an
environment that maximizes the potential of all employees by not discriminating against age,
ethnicity, gender, physical abilities/qualities, race, sexual orientation, educational background,
geographic location, income, marital or partner status, military experience, parental status, religious
beliefs, work experience or job classification (Futon). Managers of this era have to work alongside
individuals who not only come from different ages and educational backgrounds, but also individuals
who are of different origins and have roots in many parts of the world. Organizational leaders are
convinced that diversity efforts need to be an organization wide effort in order for it to succeed
(Roosevelt 23). The reality is that the American workforce is changing very rapidly and steps have to
be taken to adapt to this new environment. This paper will focus on (1) the growing importance of
workplace diversity, (2) the benefits associated with having a diversified work environment, (3)
methods of increasing workplace diversity and (4) effective strategies for managing a diverse
workforce.

Statistical data were collected by using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences using a paired
variance t test (comparing before after). An independent t test was also used for comparison between
the two groups (equal variance). The results were reported as mean ± SD.
The following outcomes were found to be statistically significant. An increase of knee extensors
strength comparing pre and post treatment results was observed on weak (w) and strong(s) legs not
defined by investigators in the WBV group (p values 0.009, 0.013 respectively). The control group
mean and standardized deviation values of the knee extensors strength were as followed for the weak
leg pre post intervention: 24.667 ± 0.764, 25.333 ± 0.289 and for the strong leg 23.333 ± 1.258, 24.00
± 0.500, showing minimal increases in this group for both legs (w =.666 and s = .667); for the
experimental group the weak leg was 25.00 ±0.866 pre and 28.00 ±1.000 post and for the strong leg
24 ±0.866 and 27 ±1.00 respectively, both of them showing increases of 3.00. Spasticity reduction was
observed in the trial group in one of the three muscle groups (knee extensors) with a p value 0.035.
Walking speed assessed with the 6 Min walk test showed statistical significance in favor of the WBV
group after treatment (p value 0.001) with mean and SD values of 240 ± 60 pre and 400 ± 50 post in
contrast with the control group were the p value was 0.173 with mean and SD values 203.3 ±33.3 pre
and 221.7 ± 46.5 post.

Health Issues Of Ill Health
It is important that patterns of ill health are monitored as the Department of Health need to know
where to target the funds, and need to know what areas they need to target. For example, if the levels
of obesity are rising then the Department of Health needs to target this by putting in weight
maintenance courses and referring patients to clinics or recommending operations if they are beyond
helping themselves. Patterns of ill health help the Department of Health to see what areas are
increasing and the reasons for this. The research into why this happens helps them to know how to
tackle the problem.
Statistics
Statistics are used to monitor and recognise the patterns of ill health throughout the UK. Once
statistics are collected they are published on the National Statistics website. It is important to monitor
patterns of ill health and recognise where there is a dramatic increase or increase as then the health
and social funding can be spent in areas which need more help. For example, if there is a rising
problem with obesity, then funds can be spent to help those who are unable to control their weight,
more services will be able to be provided to those who are obese. Illnesses such as obesity are on the
rise but also illnesses associated with smoking, drinking and drugs are also, funding is targeted at
providing help for those who suffer from these illnesses.

Police Suicide And Its Effects
Introduction The primary purpose of this term paper is to talk about police suicide and whether or not
it is preventable. While police suicide is an huge issue, the public do not hear much about it nor have
enough information. Therefore, it is important to let the public know that it is an issue by spreading
awareness and creating prevention methods. Important questions that should be asked are : What is
suicide? Why are police officers committing suicide? How many police officers are committing
suicide? Can police suicide be prevented? Have guidelines been created in efforts to prevent police
suicide? How does the suicide of an officer affect other officers?
Identifying the Problem Suicide is when a person purposely takes their own ... Show more content on

While conducting their studies, Chae and Boyle found that when multiple factors occurred it increased
the risk of an officer wanting to commit suicide (2013). Some of the multiple factors mentioned were
shift work, critical incidents, stress, and relationship problems (Chae and Boyle, 2013). While officers
may have suicide on their minds, most of them do not automatically commit suicide. According to
Nanavaty, some of the officers that have committed suicide have shown warning signs (2015).
Therefore, it is extremely important for the public, family, friends, and co workers to be able to
identify the warning signs so that an officer from committing suicide can be prevented.
Causes for Police Suicide What affects one person does not necessarily affect another person. Police
officers have different reasons as to why they commit suicide. There are many causes for committing
suicide such as depression, death, retirement, loneliness, stress, relationship problems, alcohol abuse,
burnout and physical pain. Most officers do not commit suicide because of just one cause in fact,
many officers experience more than one cause at once. Take for example depression, it is a serious
illness and because of it officers can lack motivation, not wanting to live, and have a lot of stress. The
officer could have stress because of what they have been exposed to such as trauma, irregular work
hours, problems in the work force, long periods of

Never Go Back Stereotypes
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) has all the staples of a cliché action film. Car chases with
gunfire, check. Villains killing in the name of profit, check. Witty one liners before epic scenes, check.
It has the plot sequence of a cookie cutter action film and like so many other action movies, Jack
Reacher: Never Go Back is clearly gender biased. Jack Reacher, the main protagonist, is an ex
military loner played by Tom Cruise. Suddenly, Army Major Susan Turner (of course, the lead man s
love interest) is arrested for treason. Reacher comes to the rescue, uncovers a conspiracy with a
military contractor, and saves Army Major Susan Turner. Even on the surface, it is a movie that has
overtones of sexism, a message that reads: even a highly successful woman requires a man. Delve
deeper, action movies for generations have ingrained restrictive roles for women to society. In 2016,
only 27 percent of the dialogue came from women in the top ten highest grossing movies (Syfret 1).
Yet, speaking less often in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Script writing involves the most precise use dialogue and action; a great writer can reveal the history,
flaws, and personality of a character. The opening scene begins with police surrounding a rural gas
station due to a brawl incited by Jack Reacher leaving a multitude of men injured. As it turns out, the
police were kidnapping illegal aliens and selling them. In the background, the audience can see
Hispanic women covered in blankets fleeing the interior of the gas station. As federal agents
surrounded the building rounding up the corrupt policemen, Jack Reacher remarks, If it were up to me,
I d just kill you. Action and dialogue blend perfectly to advance the development of Jack Reacher,
who is equally rebellious and chivalrous. Female characters are only background, foreshadowing their
roles in the remainder of the

Workers whose environmental is not designed to suit the kind of task they perform tend to develop health conditions that may affect their lives. Data entry using the keyboard in a computer is one of the tasks which require a well established and a comfortable environment. Failure to provide this may result in several ill health conditions. One of such condition is carpal tunnel syndrome. There is also a need for an individual to ensure that a person takes a regular break to give a hand opportunity to relax and release from the constant straining. The positioning of the computer, especially the mouse, should be in a flat and comfortable place that ensures a soft and a swift movement that reduces any chances of strains by the hand. This will also help individuals to work for a long time without feeling any pain in hand. Based on the research on the repeated stress injury, the company needs to improve the working environment for the data entry operations. In this case, there is a need to develop the kinds of furniture in the office to ensure that they suit the task performance in that environment. The furniture should make sure that the monitor is well positions to enable the operator to sit upright. The mouse should also be placed in a position that allows the person to relax his hands while typing and while handling the mouse. These improvements are aimed at increasing productivity of workers without affecting their health in the office. In conclusion, the increasing rate of poor health conditions in the rooms due to improper office environment setup is a problem that might result in low productivity among the workers. It is therefore important to ensure that the management provides good furniture that prevents too much straining by their employees. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Identify And Explain The Factors That Cause Changes In... The three factors that caused Galetown to have more severe rainstrorms this summer than in previous years are stronger winds, higher temperature and the new lake. First of all, stronger winds push the air parcels (An amount of air that moves as a unit) higher up in the troposphere. The higher the air parcel is in the troposphere, the colder it is. This will cause a greater energy transfer from the parcel to the surrounding air allowing them to become the same temperature and having condensation occurs. This will soon fall out as rain. In the chart, it tells us that in storms 3 and 4 that all factors are the same before the storm such as the surface water (high) and the temperatures are close enough to not make a significant difference. But the wind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the air parcel rises in the troposphere, the more energy transfer. The reason why the energy transfers is because the water vapor must have an equivalent temp to the surrounding air. More energy causes it to have more evaporation transferring more water vapor to the surrounding air. As the energy transfer occurs, the water vapor gets through condensation and turns to liquid water. The higher the parcel gets, the colder it is in the surrounding air which causes the water to condense and come out as rain. This is important because when the temperature of the air parcel is higher, it will rise higher in the troposphere and the higher the cloud is in the troposphere, the more rain that will fall. Also, the modeling tool tells us that storms 2 and 3 had all the same factors ( water vapor, troposphere temperature and surface water) but, the parcel temperature, was higher in storm 3 which caused it to have more rain. Lastly, the reason why the weather has been acting up is the new lake. The lake is causing more evaporation (the process by which a liquid changes into a gas). This is important because the more evaporation there is, the more condensation (the process by which a gas changes into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

RFID is an information and sensor technology that can be attached or inserted into objects to collect data through reader devices and tags. It uses wireless radio waves to transmit and uses devices such as RFID readers, RFID tags, and middleware. The RFID system consists of three components 1. RFID has also gained significant foothold in supply chain and manufacturing. RFID IN WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT In the last decade RFID has gained popularity in the logistics and supply chain management fields. Many warehouses are taking into consideration the adoption of RFID to reduce the operating cost against the requirement to build an automatic warehouse and labour intensive manual checking. For warehousing the parameters include communication range, amount of transmittable data, communication time and speed of tag communication. The communication range is the distance within which the reader can transmit or receive data to the tag. Beyond this range the items become undetectable. The amount of data that is transmitted between the tag and reader affects the performance in terms of transmission time and accuracy. The communication time also impacts the performance of the RFID system. There is a choke point which is the fixed reader and the RFID is constrained to a maximum travel velocity when passing the fixed reader location. When travelling beyond this speed the accuracy to read is very close to zero. So when greater volume of data is passing the tag will have to essentially pass the reader more slowly for an accurate read, especially in warehouses. In a warehouse four activities generally occur. In the first activity the receiving dock receives the shipments that arrive at from the factory. With the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The kidneys are quite busy forming about 160 liters of filtrate daily (Powis, 1985, p. 182). This is very important because it is through the liver and kidneys that the nutrients start traveling through the bloodstream, especially glucose, sugar. Glucose is the favored energy fuel for most cells of the body (Silverstein, 1994, p. 28). Glucose is essentially sugar, which is the primitive source of energy for most of living organisms, and humans are no exception. Normally people have the biochemistry within their bodies to regulate their own blood sugar levels. However, this is not the case for some people, unfortunately, due to factors. The hormone insulin, which, helps sugar enter the body cells, is basically inactive in some people, which causes their whole biological system to start to deteriorate(Goodheart, 1990, p. 117). This is known as diabetes. Diabetes can come in two types, i.e type 1 and 2, which are caused by genetics or poor dietary habits. This can cause conditions like hyperglycemia, which is, a blood sugar level that is higher than normal (Goodheart, 1990, p.117). • 19. Research Employment Laws Is A Tough One Picking out just one country to research employment laws was a tough one. I have been very fortunate that during my childhood (I was a military brat, and lived everywhere) and even the last 16 years of my adult life (from being in the military myself, and being married to a service member) I have been to many countries around the world. I have enjoyed my time everywhere I have been, as I am one that always makes the best of the new situation. I probably would be a great expatriate for a company, since I am one that loves to indulge myself in the local culture and just learn as much as I can when I am there. I decided on Germany, as that is one country I have spent the most time in, and one of my best friends (that is born and raised there) is from there. I have always enjoyed the history and culture of that country as well. Hours Worked/Minimum Working Age When I lived in Germany I always thought it was frustrating that everything was closed on Sundays; as Sundays are my days for grocery shopping, errands and getting things ready for the following week. I had to learn to re do my routines to accommodate this; but fortunately, being in Germany as military personnel, I was able to go on post (or base) to get necessary shopping done as well since American posts/bases were run by American law. Germany has a law in place that dictates the amount of hours per day/week/year that a person can work and this law is the Working Time Act (WTA). According to Jung (2001), the ... • 20. How Did Malcolm X Affect The Civil Right Movement Malcolm X and the Black Panthers both the profoundly affected the goals of the civil right movement. Malcolm X was born on May 19th, 1925 in Omaha Nebraska. Earl Little, (Malcolm s father) was an outspoken Baptist minister and an avid supporter of the Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. Malcom graduated at the top of his class however when a teacher told him that his dream of becoming a lawyer was no realistic goal for a nigger (Genius, 2016), these words greatly impacted him and caused him to leave school. Malcom s journey that caused him to affect the civil right movement were motivated by his unprivileged past, as he had been involved in various crimes and directed by misleading guidance, none the less moulding him into an influential figure. Similarly, in October 1966, in Oakland California, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panther Party for Self Defense. The Panthers practiced militant self defense of minority communities against the U.S government, and fought to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based programs. The party was on the first organizations un U.S history to militantly struggle for ethnic minority and work class emancipation. • 21. Deformity In Jekyll And Hyde Dr. Henry Jekyll in Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) seems to be an enthusiastic scientist just as Shelley describes Victor Frankenstein. Though Victor Frankenstein reports his own story to Captain Walton, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is narrated by different points of view, mainly from lawyer Utterson, a close friend of Jekyll and in charge of executing Jekyll s last will. Thus, no background of Jekyll is provided. It is only mentioned that he lives in a splendid home in 19th century London with multiple rooms and a laboratory, and that he has servants to his dispose. When Utterson first meets Hyde, he is described as someone unnormal with evil hints. His exterior generates feelings of disgust and even unease to other characters. His deformity is described on a physical and on a moral level (and thus, differs from the depiction of Frankenstein s creature): Mr. Hyde was pale and dwarfish, he gave an impression of deformity without any nameable malformation, he ... • 22. Tom Stoppard and the Crime-Writing Genre Mankind has perpetually maintained a fascination with what constitutes a crime and enjoyed piecing together the clues that authors of the crime genre provide us in solving their mysteries, thus appealing to our curiosity in the darker side of our humanity. The crime writing genre embodies humankind in its fullest, revealing our potential for both good and evil, a notion that is responsible for the genre s cross contextual survival and universal appeal. It is due to this undying interest that writers of crime texts have the ability to subvert conventions and thereby deconstruct the philosophical and psychological assumptions that crime fiction is constructed upon. By subverting the conventions of the crime writing genre, composers are able to more freely explore issues concerning their respective contexts, a significant factor that has contributed to the genre s endurance. Tom Stoppard s play The Real Inspector Hound is a post modern text which utilises its absurdist nature to reflect the nihilistic philosophy of crime. The text simultaneously adheres to and discards the conventions of the crime genre through its employment of parody and its satirical characteristics. Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound , first performed in 1968, is a one act play and dual satire of Agatha Christie s conventional Golden Age, cosy locked room mystery The Mousetrap and the crime writing genre itself. This leads to an increase in PaCO2 (hypercapnia) which lowers HCO3. The blood becomes too acidic because of the excess amount of CO2. The average range for PaCO2 is 35 45m Hg. This rule states that a multiracial person is assigned to the race with the lowest social standing among the races represented. Going off of previous history and other social norms, the hierarchy would be as follows: non Hispanic white, Asian, Latinos, and lastly black. When forcing a youth to choose between one of their multiple races, those with some black or Latino heritage are far more likely to report being black or Latino than those with white or Asian heritage are to report being white or Asian (Herman 2009). Herman s study in 2009 examines the difference in grades between students of mixed races. Her ultimate conclusion is that self identification is the main indicating factor in academic achievement. Students possessing black or Latino ancestry are associated with decreased grades whereas students with white or Asian ancestry tend to do better. However, she also looked at the difference in grades between students of the same biracial category who self identify differently. Those who identify as Asian or white do significantly better in school than those who identify as black or Latino. An interesting conclusion from the study shows that where there is a difference between those who identify as Asian and those who identify as white, there is almost no difference in if the student identifies as black or Latino. Figure 2 shows the autocorrelation factor (ACF) for the NHS data set. Because all the data is above the upper limit line, there appears to be a positive trend present for the 12 month forecast. Upon further examination, the ACF does not quickly fall to zero confirming a significant presence of trend. Seasonality can be assumed by looking at the sharp up and down movement of the data in figure 1. The data is considered stationary if the ACF is mainly contained within the upper and lower bounds as illustrate in figure 3. White and Black Americans were segregated during that time which resulted in hostility and hatred toward the other race. Rumours would be made about the other race and a race could be thought of as superior to another. Joe Louis gained respect by many of different races for winning the heavyweight world championship in 1937, and continuing to hold it until 1949. In the South for Black Americans, Joe Louis served as a way of fighting for equality. Joe Louis gave the Southern Blacks hope and confidence through the Great Depression as well as life. The reason it gave many Black Americans confidence was because he let the world know that a Black was just as good, if not better, than a white. After Joe Louis became heavyweight champion of the world, this made some Whites angry knowing that a Black man had bested one of their own. In I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings on page 136, Maya portrays the fear in Southern Black Americans knowing Joe Louis had won. It would take an hour or more before the people would leave the Store and head for home. Those who lived too far had made arrangements to stay in town. It wouldn t do for a Black man and his family to be caught on a lonely country road on a night when Joe Louis had proved that we were the strongest people in the world. Maya knew the instant Joe Louis had won, that Whites were angry and wanting revenge. Joe Louis s victory was a great deal for the segregated South, and not so much for the North. The North wasn t as ridden of hate, prejudice, and racism as the South. In the North, Jim Crow laws were not common, because citizens living there treated everyone almost as an equal. The North didn t have much of an affect due to Louis s victory because people viewed Louis as a regular man. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Witty one liners before epic scenes, check. It has the plot sequence of a cookie cutter action film and like so many other action movies, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is clearly gender biased. Jack Reacher, the main protagonist, is an ex military loner played by Tom Cruise. Suddenly, Army Major Susan Turner (of course, the lead man s love interest) is arrested for treason. Reacher comes to the rescue, uncovers a conspiracy with a military contractor, and saves Army Major Susan Turner.
