John B Goodenough Biography
John B.Goodenough The entire world uses the electricity to operate useful machines. One of the most
important use of electricity is to light up cities. Electricity is also used to light up the most important
device that people use which is the smart phone. John Goodenough is considered one of the most
important inventors in the engineering industry. Goodenough s hard work, writings and inventions
made him a great inventor and a remodel for many engineers. Goodenough is a person that everyone
looks after because of his tremendous amount of work that he puts to improve himself and his

According to the University of Texas website (2016), good enough wrote at least eight books and
more than 800 journal articles. This shows how he wants people to understand the idea of combining
chemistry and physics to be able to develop better batteries if he dies. In one of his books John
decided to explain the relationship between chemical bonding and magnetism. In the same book, he
explained the multiple equations that he used to get to the result which is his invention. In the book
review by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1964), the book described how
the electronic structure in their solid state behave and stated their electric and magnetic properties in
terms of semi empirical quantum mechanical theories of electronic interactions. This will motivate
scientists to search deeper in that field. Moreover, Goodenough wrote several articles that are related
to the area of physical chemistry, chemistry and physics. Another point to further explain is that

choose the right element in the battery (). Therefore, his writings gave humanity enough knowledge to

The Decline Of Chocolate Industry
The Broken Dream: The Decline of the Chocolate Industry in Ghana Chocolate, as one of the most
popular sweets around the world, not only satisfies people s taste, but also provides a means of living
for many countries. Ghana is an African country that lived upon its cocoa industry. Cocoa tree was
introduced to the Ghana accidentally by a man named Tetteh Quarshie after his trip to Spain in the late
nineteenth century (Off 96 97). Because of the increasing international demand for chocolate, the
cocoa farmers in Ghana soon benefited from the cocoa trade (Off 97). By 1920, Ghana became the
world s leading cocoa bean exporter (Off 98). The booming cocoa industry brought considerable
wealth to Ghanaian cocoa farmers that they could build new houses and roads (Ryan 10). However,
the cocoa industry in Ghana was not always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, this paper would focus on the question that what cause the decline of Ghana s chocolate
industry in the mid twentieth century? Some scholars believe that the farmers could not afford the cost
of maintaining the cocoa trees from pest and diseases, which lead to the decline of the cocoa industry.
A better answer to this question is that the cocoa industry in Ghana was prone to the control of large
organizations which were solely looking out for their own self interests. First, the government in
Ghana made specific policies targeted at the cocoa industry in order to gain huge tax revenue.
Moreover, the Ghana Cocoa Marketing Board manipulated the cocoa surplus from the farmer to earn a
profit in their own coffers. Finally, large chocolate companies controlled the market price for cocoa to
maximize their profits. The demise of the cocoa industry in Ghana is significant for understanding the
vulnerability of Ghana s economy when the country rely heavily on cocoa beans as the cash

The Value of a College Degree
For many families, the idea that higher education for themselves or their children will automatically
improve their social or economic status is a common one. In many situations this can be the case,
however it is not universal. Additionally, many factors come into play when analyzing how
intergenerational mobility does or does not occur. Some of these factors include existing social class,
field of study, undergraduate vs. advanced degrees, race or gender, selection of institution, and
parental resources. The general hypothesis of this study is Is a College Degree Still the Great
Equalizer?
This issue was the source of study by Florencia Torche at New York University. Using different cohort
groups and conducting various survey methods, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this intergenerational status association is weaker among women. In the case of earnings
mobility, a similar U shaped pattern emerges. In cases of earnings distribution, those at the extreme
ends of educational distribution show the strongest association (i.e. individuals with less than a college
degree and advanced degree holders) indicating, a college degree appears to still be a great equalizer
among BA holders but not among advanced degree holders (Torche, 2011). So far, the analysis of
intergenerational mobility as it relates to class, occupational status, and earnings has been restricted to
labor market forces.
When family income mobility is studied, other factors are taken into account such as non occupational
resources and family level processes. Specific examples that were taken into account included parental
transfers of wealth and intergenerational reproduction as it relates to occupational mobility. While the
results of this area of study closely resemble previously discussed results, one interesting point
emerges. The influence of parental income on sons income level is substantial among those without a
college degree, it declines to insignificance among college graduates, and then it regains strength
among advanced degree holders... (Torche, 2011). This brings to light the issue of horizontal

The Advertising Strategy Of The Advertising Campaign For...
One think as parents worry about; well great parents, is about their kids safely and wellbeing. Parents
aren t constantly watching their teens/tweens daily actively. Like many other parents, we trust that our
kids are doing the right thing. Failure not check, could cause you your teen/tweens, lost in a world full
of inappropriate data usage. One of the greatest electronic company LG conducted a campaign in
hopes to changing teens mindset or attitude as it relates to inappropriate use of communication
electronically. Here stand limited serious mechanisms of this case study that must be similarly well
thought out when planning an actual advertising campaign for this wonderful electronic company LG
Mobile. Foremost, the product has specified that the purpose of the great movement is to growth their
product worth and inspire teens and tweens to relate with their brand which is the LG Mobile phone
product, though concurrently rising awareness around possible insensible actions such as mean or
inappropriate texting. Since, LG mobile has little television resources then their focus should be on
social sites platforms or networks. This type of marketing would be most beneficial advertising
approach, and more importantly it could cost them less money than advertising through television.
With so many ways to network among tweens/teens and adults, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram are
the ones that teens really gravitate to. Twitter currently have over 328 million active users, which rank
them 9th within the social network industry. Although it has little message capabilities, it seems to be
popular. Teens at times have very little attention span and this is primary the reason that teens are
attracted to it. This method of networking is extremely attractive to almost anyone with over 6,000
tweets basically every second. Facebook is another popular site that teens regular visit, and have a
remarkable 2 billion monthly active users, and happen to be the world largest social media platform,
how amazing is that! Base on research these social networking sites are extremely effective when used
to strengthen a product faithfulness and loyalty. Social media sites provide a great way to network and

Persuasion Is An Act Or Process Of Appealing
According to McLean (2010), persuasion is an act or process of appealing to reason or presenting
arguments to induce your audience to do something or to change their beliefs or values. Motivation,
on the other hand, is the force or stimulus to influence your audience to consider your arguments and
adopt your position (McLean, 2010). In short, persuasion is the process and motivation is the stimulus
to bring about the change. For example, when you want to pitch a sale, persuasion involves presenting
good features associated with the products, potential profit, offering good customer service and
analysis of current market demand. Motivation, in contrast, involves incentives like commission,

Moving on, the users of the principle of commitment and consistency prevails their audiences that
they will embrace and honor their word or promises made. If you have rented a room, apartment or
house, you inevitably have the experience of signing a lease agreement in which your landlord is
asking you to engage in commitment and consistency by legally requesting to meet your monthly rent
at the beginning of the month.
The principle of consensus employs the tendency of people follow the path of herd mentality. This is
how sellers on the online retailers like Amazon and Ebay.com find potential customers. If their
customer feedback system is flooded with positive testimonials or experiences from their previous
customers, their potential customers will perceive their products and/or customer services positively.
Lastly, the principle of liking comprises of formulating a way to make your audiences feel safe and

Emerging Therapies For Sickle Cell Anemia
Emerging therapies for sickle cell anemia
Cesi Salmeron
Suny Rockland Community College
Abstract
Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an inherited disorder that produces sickle or crescent shape red blood
cells. Thus, the mutated erythrocytes result in an inadequate supply of oxygen being transported
throughout the body. Research shows that among those affected the most with the sickle cell gene are
African Americans. In recent years, we have seen a decrease in mortality and morbidity rates as a
result of new approaches to treating the disease. The more we understand the pathophysiology of
sickle cell anemia, the more we learn about developing therapies for genetic disorders such as SCA. In
this paper, we will briefly discuss what sickle cell anemia is and possible treatments for people with
sickle cell anemia such as gene therapy and new drugs.
What is sickle cell anemia?
Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. This missense mutation is
characterized by mutant beta globin subunits that tend to stick together (Cummings, 2014). As a result,
abnormally shaped red blood cells are produced by this disorder. The erythrocytes are sickle or
crescent shaped. Sickling occurs under hypoxic conditions, in which there is insufficient supply of
oxygen delivered throughout the body (Sun Xia, 2013). In order to inherit this monogenic disease, one
copy of the sickle globin gene from each parent must be passed on to the offspring (Ashley Koch,

The Impact Of Internet On East Asian Countries
The Concept of Internet Technology: An Analysis of Efficiency, Benefits and Hindrances of Internet
coverage across Sub Saharan Africa and East Asian Countries. The internet provides a way for us to
connect and communicate with each other across various political and economic boundaries. Since its
inception couple of decades ago, we as humans have found doing certain things such as
communication, transportation and business aspects of our lives pretty easy than we did in the past.
The internet has improved various aspects in our community such as health, infrastructure, business
and education. But in this paper, I am going to explore the impacts the internet in particular as a form
of media technology has on East Asian Countries and its possible benefits for Sub Saharan Africa
region in the area of politics. I also tend to analyse the competence of the internet in enhancing the
political processes of Thailand and its probable benefits for a country like Nigeria ridiculed with
poverty brought about by immense corruption. As we all know the internet as a form of technology
has its advantages as well as disadvantages in structuring our society this also is an aspect that would
be examined in this paper. At the end of this paper I hope to establish a point that the introduction of
highly effective internet services across Sub Saharan countries in Africa would increase its rate of
globalization in this present age, where technology is an integral factor for development. The

in these Saturday afternoon matinees. Mad scientists, vampires, cowboys, dance men, Chaplin, and
Bogart, all flit across Robert Coover s riotously funny screen, doing things and uttering lines that are

A Night at the Movies presents examples of those constructed realities, the realities of films that we
are already familiar with, and then alters them.
Additionally, the creative and almost playful way in which Coover transports different story lines
across entertainment media lines from film to literature is an inventive technique of postmodern
literature. The tendency of postmodern art to be self referential is clearly at work in Coover s
compilation. He has created a work of art, based on art. His art of literature is derived from the art of
film; in fact, A Night at the Movies can be read and interpreted in such a way that the viewer may
actually feel as if she were spending the night at the movies.
As opposed to including a table of contents, A Night at the Movies begins with a program, outlining
the order of the progression of the read, or the night. The book begins with previews of coming
attractions, includes an installment of the current weekly serial, features an adventure, comedy and
romance film , does not fail to include a cartoon for the kiddies, and even has an intermission. The

The Effects Of Water Quality On The Water Supply Of...
Body Paragraph #1 Background:
Water is perhaps the most important component of any ecosystem. All living organisms need water to
grow and survive. As human population continues to grow, we need to understand and determine the
effects our habits will have on the ecosystems and our water supply. Four factors that can affect the
quality and importance of water are its abilities as a solvent, dipolar, benefits and costs. Acceptance
and long term sustainability of water quality interventions are pivotal to realizing continued health
benefits. According to the EPA (2015), only 3% of the world s water is suitable for drinking, 2% of
which is found in glaciers and ice, so in reality, only 1% of the earth s water is accessible and potable .
Body Paragraph # 2 Objective:
This paper highlights the need to effectively involve and design interventions to determine human
factors that can cause damage to the supply of drinking water and the damage to the environment.
Furthermore, that interventions are required to improve water quality and supply. A number of settings
and experiments were conducted of initial water sources and the effects that household factors can
lead to determine water qualities and levels of contamination. The results would show how such
household chemicals like oil, vinegar and soap cause turbidity, odor and color change in water supply.
Body Paragraph # 3 Hypotheses:
The premise for each experiment would have different results for a conclusion

Mỹ Sơn is a temple complex located in central Vietnam consisting of over 70 Hindu temples
constructed between the 4th to 14th century by the kings of Champa. The temples were built to
worship the god Shiva that symbolizes the father/male realm. According to the Brhat Samhita
scriptures of Hinduism, The gods always play where groves are near, rivers, mountains and springs
and in towns with pleasure gardens. Hence, Mỹ Sơn was erected within several closed valleys that
provide the watershed of the sacred Thu Bồn River. Only at Mỹ Sơn, the topography of the site s
narrow valley was used to symbolize a mandala. The spring of flowing sacred water symbolized the

where sacred songs and dances were performed as prayers and offerings before proceeding into the

Analysis Of The Street By Ann Petry
Being new to an unfamiliar place is always a challenge and bring discomfort, being alone and
knowing no one. In The Street , Ann Petry uses personification, selection of detail, and imagery in
order to reveal Lutie s relationship to the urban setting and to show the challenges Lutie Johnson faces
in the urban environment. At the beginning of the passage, Petry uses imagery in order to set the
environment in which the main character is introduced. Petry starts off with a cold November wind
blowing through the 116th street in order to show the environment as cold and breezy by saying the
cold wind that is blowing around they urban city and the dirt blowing around into people s eyes to
introduce the setting. She then goes to further introduce the setting by talking about the scraps of
paper flying around and how it did everything it could in order to discourage the people walking along
the streets. This allows the reader to picture the urban setting by appealing to their sense of touch
where you can feel the cold climate in the city and create a picture in their mind of garbage and paper
flying around and hindering the people s lives. Petry uses this in order to highlight Lutie Johnson s
eventual introduction to the urban setting and her unfamiliarity with the urban by letting us predict the
challenges Lutie Johnson will soon face there. Petry is able to create images in our head in order to
show Lutie Johnson in the urban setting; you are able to feel the cold,

Henry Ford s Impact On Society
More than any single person of the last century, Henry Ford can take accountability for creating the
American middle class. We can thank him or curse him, but either way, we have to acknowledge the
impact Henry Ford had on our society. You might not know that Henry Ford did not start out as a
successful producer of automobiles. After building his first car, the Quadricycle. In 1899 he formed
the Detroit Automobile Company, which quickly failed after only a few vehicles were produced.
(Stanford). Henry and some of his original investors regrouped and formed the Henry Ford Company
which quickly ran into problems as well. In 1902 Henry was dismissed by his board of directors from
the company that carried his name because of his inability to bring a car to production. The company
was reorganized as the Cadillac Motor Car Company under the engineering leadership of Henry
Leland. Henry and some of his original investors regrouped and formed the Henry Ford Company,
which quickly ran into problems as well. Henry Ford was dismissed by his board of directors from the
company that carried his name because of his inability to bring a car to production. In 1903 Henry
Ford felt he was ready to market an automobile for the public and the Ford Motor Company was
incorporated, this time with only $28,000 in cash put up by a new group of investors. That original
investment was spent down to $300 before the company s first car was sold, but from that time on the
company was a success.

Depression And Its Effects On Children
Depression in Adolescents The mind is full of emotions, knowledge, memories, and much more. The
adolescent stage is very complex where a child is attacked with different emotions and events where
they begin to feel excluded from society. In this stage, teens start using their mind for moral behavior
and decision making. This is when children, begin puberty and start an irregular hormonal stage. As
physical characteristics change in a teen s body also does the perception of themselves start to develop
in their mind. For example, when teenagers are not acknowledged by their peers they begin to exclude
themselves from the outside world. Additionally, if the teen feels out of place they start isolating
themselves from society and start a long journey of depressive thoughts. Depression is a mood
disorder that causes an individual to feel sad and isolated. Depression is a mental disorder that controls
the ability to feel content. There may be many reasons why depressive thoughts may occur. An article
by Rick Ingram, particularly displays that the vulnerability work in parent s psychopathology may be
a high risk factor for their child s depression. This theory can be dated back to different research on
psychopathology like schizophrenia research. Psychopathology research sought after a genetic link
between parent and child psychopathology. The data from the research showed that there was higher
risk of depression with children that have mothers dealing with depression. The

Much like Aronnax, a oceanic scientist , Conseil is intelligent and well educated classification
obsessed person and in most ways a servant to Aronnax (Cain 1, Barrow 2032, Drabble 5). Ned Land,
the forty year old harpooner, on the other hand is a man of action, not of scientific analysis, and he is
used to the sea s surface, not its depth (Barrow 2032). Not being accustomed to the ocean s depths, but
rather it s surface provides great conflict for Land having been a master hunter of the sea on a boat and
not in a submarine. Due to their different professions, their automatic biased opinions shape their
actions; Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned Land thus takes different stances when it comes to life on the
Nautilus, down to the smallest of things like the food to what Captain Nemo is really like.
When Aronnax, Conseil, and Land meet Captain Nemo he is seen as a mysterious man capably of
dangerous things. Throughout the novel, Aronnax discovers interesting sides to Captain Nemo he
never expected. Upon being taken into the Nautilus, Captain Nemo shows Aronnax around the
submarine explaining how everything works proving Captain Nemo s intelligence in order to design
something so technically advanced (Verne 67). Also stated by Sian Cain, their captor is the mysterious
Captain Nemo, an intelligent, quiet man who hates all who live on land (1). As the novel continues,

M6 Advantages And Disadvantages
M6 is the annotation given to the Air Defense version of the Bradley fighting vehicle. During the
1980s, at the height of the cold war coupled with the ever growing nuclear threat, the U.S. need to
insure the defense of ground forces and critical assets from aerial threats became ever so real.
Budgetary constraints placed a heavy burden on military planners as they fought congressional
committees for a solution to provide a mobile air defense platform. Dilapidated equipment and talks of
a Russian armored invasion of the U.S. mainland, created the inception of the Bradley Fighting
Vehicle. A vehicle designed to battle the Russian MBT (Main Battle Tank) T 80 in head to head battle
would suit the needs within the limitations set forth by Congress. ... Show more content on

The M6 Bradley Linebacker served for just shy of a decade for the exact reasons mentioned above. A
seemingly good idea scrapped because of cost, underuse and truthfully the blatant misunderstanding
or miscalculation of the capabilities the system brings to mission success. Nevertheless, during the
early stages of the Iraq and Afghanistan war, the Linebacker saw use as a multirole vehicle, providing
security to Infantry units and over watch for Forward Operating Bases. A plaque at the Fort Sill Air
Defense Artillery Museum stated the following: Specifically in 2005, while on route patrol, the
Linebacker was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED). The IED exploded and tore off the first
three road wheels and all of the armor on the left side of the vehicle. While the Service Members all
survived the blast, the Linebacker was too badly damaged to put back into service. This Linebacker is
interred at the Fort Sill Air Defense Artillery Museum and is the last Linebacker in existence. The
other Linebackers have been converted back to the M2A3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle

Domestic Partnerships Should be Legal Essay
On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution guarantees the right for same
sex couples to marry. Should gay marriages be legal? Clearly we as a nation are undecided on this
issue. Gay rights groups are fighting for rights while religious groups are fighting against gay
marriage. I do NOT believe it is fair to discriminate against gays for being together. America is a free
country and people should be able to be in a relationship with whomever they desire. Gay marriage is
only legal in a few states. In some of these states, the uniting of two gays is called a civil union or
domestic partnership. I do not think it is right to ruin the holy sacrament of marriage. Although I do
not promote gay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that one side of the argument is going to be unhappy with any settlement. (A Primer on
Same Sex Marriage, Civil Unions, Domestic Partnerships, and Defense of Marriage Acts)
Gay marriages are highly debated and opposed. In California the opposition to gay marriage enjoyed a
win by having legislators reconsider banning gay marriage. Through rallying and other measurements
the opposition of gay marriage is working to overturn same sex marriage. If legislation is overturned,
it would allow marriage only between a man and a woman. This would also eliminate the right to civil
unions by gays in the state. We must seek a solution to same sex marriage. Same sex marriage will
continue to be an ongoing legal battle. It is important we find a solution that both sides of the
argument agree on or come closest to a compromise between the two sides. (Gay Marriage
Showdowns)
Civil unions are a practical solution to this problem. Civil unions provide a full extension of marital
benefits for gays. Civil unions are only recognized by the states that initiated the process. This means
if a civil union united couple where to travel out of state they are not recognized as a civil union by
that particular state. Civil unions would start a special tradition among gays and leave the tradition of
marriage between man and woman pure. Some states have legislation that is very strict against gay
marriage such as Texas. Strict legislation

When your mind is in the delta frequency, you have increased immune function as well as put out
chemicals that have a deep renewing benefit to your body.
But the delta brainwave state of mind is only achieved when we are in deep, restful sleep. So, if you
have pain, which leads to insomnia, which leads to decreased sleep, which leads to less delta time for
the brain, you are in a downward spiral.
HOW TO GET STARTED:
1. Find a good brainwave entrainment audio that puts your brain down into at least 2.5 Hz for 20 30
minutes.
2. Set aside 30 45 minutes a day to listen to a brainwave meditation audio that puts you into the delta
frequency. The best time to listen to it would be as you go to sleep at night.
3. Give yourself time to reap the benefits of this pain management technique. Your body has its own
rhythm for healing, so give yourself time to develop your body s reserves to renew itself and feel good
again.
SUMMARY: Meditation for pain relief has been scientifically proven to work. Using a brainwave
entrainment meditation to put your brain into the appropriate brain frequency to achieve these results
gives you one of the best types of meditation to use to get started right away and to keep going
because you can meditate your pain away while you

David and Goliath Analysis Essay
David and Goliath Analysis In the story David and Goliath there is a great lesson to be learned. The
story shows that you should never underestimate your opponent and be prepared for anything. David s
own intellect and knowledge of his own abilities enabled him to become the smaller, but stronger
opponent. It all comes down to who is the better leader. David was a young shepherd boy who
watched over the sheep while feeding and keeping them safe from the lions and bears. While watching
the sheep David would spend many moments speaking to God and playing a harp. David s brothers
were at the battlefield and one day he was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of
his brothers. (Fairchild, 2012) David was not afraid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goliath laughs at the size of David while David is confident with God by his side. David then uses his
sling shot to launch a stone at Goliath s head which knocks him down on his face. The giant fell
allowing David to take his sword and behead Goliath with it. David took advantage of Goliaths
mistakes. He underestimated David s ability and failed to move out of the way of the rock. If you are
prepared for all obstacles and keep an open mind you are more likely to come out victorious. David s
own intellect and knowledge of his own abilities made Goliath the smaller, but stronger opponent.
This story can be related to the difference between WW1 and WW2. During WW1 trench warfare was
used. Trench warfare is a ditch dug out of the ground to give troops protection from the enemies. The
soldiers used machine guns, mustard and chlorine gases and smokeless gunpowder to ward off the
enemy. Machine guns were the main weapons used by soldiers. However they needed 4 6 men to man
them (Tasker, 2012) and had to be positioned on a flat surfaces. When the mustard and chlorine gases
were released the soldiers had to take great precaution to not breathe it in because the result is
immediate death. These trenches also carried many diseases and rats making it a harsh condition for
soldiers. By the time of WW2 also known as the Cold War the atomic bomb was invented. The atomic
bomb has the ability to take out an entire city. Russia and the U.S. achieve nuclear equality

Warren Edward Buffett, who was often called the Oracle of Omaha or the Sage of Omaha , born

Buffett s decision to expand into insurance operations. Today, the company s insurance operation is a

When Buffett made a decision in expanding into insurance, the insurance industry was a booming
business. He always made sure Berkshire s insurance companies maintained capital strength at
exceptionally high levels. This strength differentiated Berkshire s insurance companies from their
competitors. Again this proves his market acumen and visionary ability which helped to see future
trend and understand business well ahead of other rivals.
After Warren Buffett converted Berkshire Hathaway from a textile to an insurance company, he started
doing strategic acquisition. Initially he looked for reinsurance companies in the United States that had
sound management, but were in need of capital to expand. In today s economic uncertainties, Buffett s
saying will remain a guiding principal for all investors:
Be fearful when others are greedy; be greedy when others are scared for their capital . Mr. Buffett
started expanding Berkshire Hathaway s business into life, accident and health reinsurers. He did
strategic investments and acquisition in internationally based property and casualty reinsurers. In the

Understanding and implementation of outcome based practice within my work setting.
Outcome based practice is to deliver a service which is measured by the outcomes of the support
delivered.
From the initial stages of referral it is made clear what outcomes are expected to be achieved or
worked towards. An individual s care co ordinator will draw up a pen picture representing the
individual and disclosing details of the support that they require and a summary of their character,
within this pen picture, required outcomes will be stated and it s down to us to detail how we can meet
these outcomes within our practice. A required outcome may state:

It is of upmost importance that the systems and processes used are in favour of the promotion of well
being. Many professional parties involved in the care of an individual have many different systems
and many different processes so to avoid confusion I will focus on some applicable to our
organisation.
The initial care needs assessment has a huge impact on the individual s well being as first contact with
a service which will be playing a huge part in the delivery of your care can be quite daunting. It is
important to make the individual feel valued, empowered and in control of their own care package. A
good care needs assessment will reflect the individual s wants, dreams, aspiration s and how they want
their life to be, it will highlight their true needs as well as their strengths.
The review process should have the same result as the above and should ensure that changes are
monitored, progress mapped and new goals and targets are set, it is imperative that the care plan gives
a true and current reflection of the individual in order for them to receive the correct support.
Lead practice that promotes individuals health and choices and control over the outcomes they want to

The Wealth Of Nations By Adam Smith
Adam Smith s masterpiece writing, The Wealth of Nations, attempts to create a different
understanding of the economy from his age. The focus mainly remains on mercantilism the most
prevalent economic system for Western Society at this time. Smith s simple and in depth explanations
of even the most basic economic concepts allow for someone with little to no prior knowledge of
economics to easily grasp his meaning, and coupling these explanations with real life examples
provides even more teaching power to Smith s words. The text is split up between five different books
of varying length covering the division of labor, capital, the progress of opulence, the mercantile
system, and the role of government.
The first book of The Wealth of Nations begins with discussions on the division of labor, which Smith
considers to be the greatest improvements for the productivity of labor. To illustrate his point, Smith
gives an example of the pin making industry as a case where division of labor does not just increase
productivity proportionally to how much the tasks have been split, but exponentially. Smith explains
that, a singular pin maker unknowledgable of most tasks required in pin making could not make more
than twenty pins in one day; whereas, ten pin makers each taking over some portion of the process can
make upwards of 48,000 pins in one day. In the same way that the division of labor applies to pin
making so too does it apply to all industries. Smith goes on to give three

Long Term Memory Storage System
The skill to remember the people, events, and locations come across the path of everyday life is a
primary structure of cognition that shows behavior. The aggravation dealt with in problems (school,
friends in the halls or work, coworkers in the break room) provides as a concise reminder of our
reliance on memory. Long term memory storage system is characterized by long duration, large
capacity, and accessibility. Over the years, several different types of long term memory have been
distinguished, including explicit and implicit memory, declarative and nondeclarative memory (with
further subdivision of declarative memory in episodic and semantic memory. (Mastin. 1) Long term
memory can store an incredible amount of information over an extensive period. Long term memory
is everything we remember that occurred just minutes ago. Long term memories can be kept for a few
days or many years. Although we may forget things every day, it is possible that long term memory
essentially perishes as the years go by and can accumulate a limitless amount of information without
stopping. Many can argue if we in fact forget something at all, or it just becomes gradually harder to
recover things from our memory.
Long term memory is accountable for three areas, which are encoding, storing and retrieving.
Encoding is the capability to change information into an information structure. Storage is the ability to
collect large pieces of information. Recovering allows us to remember things

  • 3. The Decline Of Chocolate Industry The Broken Dream: The Decline of the Chocolate Industry in Ghana Chocolate, as one of the most popular sweets around the world, not only satisfies people s taste, but also provides a means of living for many countries. Ghana is an African country that lived upon its cocoa industry. Cocoa tree was introduced to the Ghana accidentally by a man named Tetteh Quarshie after his trip to Spain in the late nineteenth century (Off 96 97). Because of the increasing international demand for chocolate, the cocoa farmers in Ghana soon benefited from the cocoa trade (Off 97). By 1920, Ghana became the world s leading cocoa bean exporter (Off 98). The booming cocoa industry brought considerable wealth to Ghanaian cocoa farmers that they could build new houses and roads (Ryan 10). However, the cocoa industry in Ghana was not always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, this paper would focus on the question that what cause the decline of Ghana s chocolate industry in the mid twentieth century? Some scholars believe that the farmers could not afford the cost of maintaining the cocoa trees from pest and diseases, which lead to the decline of the cocoa industry. A better answer to this question is that the cocoa industry in Ghana was prone to the control of large organizations which were solely looking out for their own self interests. First, the government in Ghana made specific policies targeted at the cocoa industry in order to gain huge tax revenue. Moreover, the Ghana Cocoa Marketing Board manipulated the cocoa surplus from the farmer to earn a profit in their own coffers. Finally, large chocolate companies controlled the market price for cocoa to maximize their profits. The demise of the cocoa industry in Ghana is significant for understanding the vulnerability of Ghana s economy when the country rely heavily on cocoa beans as the cash ... • 4. The Value of a College Degree For many families, the idea that higher education for themselves or their children will automatically improve their social or economic status is a common one. In many situations this can be the case, however it is not universal. Additionally, many factors come into play when analyzing how intergenerational mobility does or does not occur. Some of these factors include existing social class, field of study, undergraduate vs. advanced degrees, race or gender, selection of institution, and parental resources. The general hypothesis of this study is Is a College Degree Still the Great Equalizer? This issue was the source of study by Florencia Torche at New York University. Using different cohort groups and conducting various survey methods, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this intergenerational status association is weaker among women. In the case of earnings mobility, a similar U shaped pattern emerges. In cases of earnings distribution, those at the extreme ends of educational distribution show the strongest association (i.e. individuals with less than a college degree and advanced degree holders) indicating, a college degree appears to still be a great equalizer among BA holders but not among advanced degree holders (Torche, 2011). So far, the analysis of intergenerational mobility as it relates to class, occupational status, and earnings has been restricted to labor market forces. When family income mobility is studied, other factors are taken into account such as non occupational resources and family level processes. Specific examples that were taken into account included parental transfers of wealth and intergenerational reproduction as it relates to occupational mobility. While the results of this area of study closely resemble previously discussed results, one interesting point emerges. The influence of parental income on sons income level is substantial among those without a college degree, it declines to insignificance among college graduates, and then it regains strength among advanced degree holders... With so many ways to network among tweens/teens and adults, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram are the ones that teens really gravitate to. Twitter currently have over 328 million active users, which rank them 9th within the social network industry. Although it has little message capabilities, it seems to be popular. • 7. Emerging Therapies For Sickle Cell Anemia Emerging therapies for sickle cell anemia Cesi Salmeron Suny Rockland Community College Abstract Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an inherited disorder that produces sickle or crescent shape red blood cells. Thus, the mutated erythrocytes result in an inadequate supply of oxygen being transported throughout the body. Research shows that among those affected the most with the sickle cell gene are African Americans. In recent years, we have seen a decrease in mortality and morbidity rates as a result of new approaches to treating the disease. The more we understand the pathophysiology of sickle cell anemia, the more we learn about developing therapies for genetic disorders such as SCA. In this paper, we will briefly discuss what sickle cell anemia is and possible treatments for people with sickle cell anemia such as gene therapy and new drugs. What is sickle cell anemia? Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. This missense mutation is characterized by mutant beta globin subunits that tend to stick together (Cummings, 2014). As a result, abnormally shaped red blood cells are produced by this disorder. The erythrocytes are sickle or crescent shaped. Sickling occurs under hypoxic conditions, in which there is insufficient supply of oxygen delivered throughout the body (Sun Xia, 2013). In order to inherit this monogenic disease, one copy of the sickle globin gene from each parent must be passed on to the offspring (Ashley Koch, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mad scientists, vampires, cowboys, dance men, Chaplin, and Bogart, all flit across Robert Coover s riotously funny screen, doing things and uttering lines that are as shocking to them as they are funny to the reader. A Night at the Movies presents examples of those constructed realities, the realities of films that we are already familiar with, and then alters them. Additionally, the creative and almost playful way in which Coover transports different story lines across entertainment media lines from film to literature is an inventive technique of postmodern literature. The tendency of postmodern art to be self referential is clearly at work in Coover s compilation. He has created a work of art, based on art. His art of literature is derived from the art of film; in fact, A Night at the Movies can be read and interpreted in such a way that the viewer may actually feel as if she were spending the night at the movies. As opposed to including a table of contents, A Night at the Movies begins with a program, outlining the order of the progression of the read, or the night. • 10. The Effects Of Water Quality On The Water Supply Of... Body Paragraph #1 Background: Water is perhaps the most important component of any ecosystem. All living organisms need water to grow and survive. As human population continues to grow, we need to understand and determine the effects our habits will have on the ecosystems and our water supply. Four factors that can affect the quality and importance of water are its abilities as a solvent, dipolar, benefits and costs. Acceptance and long term sustainability of water quality interventions are pivotal to realizing continued health benefits. According to the EPA (2015), only 3% of the world s water is suitable for drinking, 2% of which is found in glaciers and ice, so in reality, only 1% of the earth s water is accessible and potable . Body Paragraph # 2 Objective: This paper highlights the need to effectively involve and design interventions to determine human factors that can cause damage to the supply of drinking water and the damage to the environment. Furthermore, that interventions are required to improve water quality and supply. A number of settings and experiments were conducted of initial water sources and the effects that household factors can lead to determine water qualities and levels of contamination. The results would show how such household chemicals like oil, vinegar and soap cause turbidity, odor and color change in water supply. According to the Brhat Samhita scriptures of Hinduism, The gods always play where groves are near, rivers, mountains and springs and in towns with pleasure gardens. Hence, Mỹ Sơn was erected within several closed valleys that provide the watershed of the sacred Thu Bồn River. • 13. Analysis Of The Street By Ann Petry Being new to an unfamiliar place is always a challenge and bring discomfort, being alone and knowing no one. In The Street , Ann Petry uses personification, selection of detail, and imagery in order to reveal Lutie s relationship to the urban setting and to show the challenges Lutie Johnson faces in the urban environment. At the beginning of the passage, Petry uses imagery in order to set the environment in which the main character is introduced. Petry starts off with a cold November wind blowing through the 116th street in order to show the environment as cold and breezy by saying the cold wind that is blowing around they urban city and the dirt blowing around into people s eyes to introduce the setting. She then goes to further introduce the setting by talking about the scraps of paper flying around and how it did everything it could in order to discourage the people walking along the streets. The focus mainly remains on mercantilism the most prevalent economic system for Western Society at this time. Smith s simple and in depth explanations of even the most basic economic concepts allow for someone with little to no prior knowledge of economics to easily grasp his meaning, and coupling these explanations with real life examples provides even more teaching power to Smith s words. The text is split up between five different books of varying length covering the division of labor, capital, the progress of opulence, the mercantile system, and the role of government. The first book of The Wealth of Nations begins with discussions on the division of labor, which Smith considers to be the greatest improvements for the productivity of labor. To illustrate his point, Smith gives an example of the pin making industry as a case where division of labor does not just increase productivity proportionally to how much the tasks have been split, but exponentially. Smith explains that, a singular pin maker unknowledgable of most tasks required in pin making could not make more than twenty pins in one day; whereas, ten pin makers each taking over some portion of the process can make upwards of 48,000 pins in one day.
