The Is Not Healthcare Vending Machines
The technology promises seemingly limitless possibilities. Robots are already living among us,
controlling your refrigerator, your smart phone, your personal computer and even your car. Some
technology advancements sound far fetched to contemporary ears, and many people hesitate at the
prospect of adopting them. Nonetheless should we embrace a cyborg future in which tasks great and
small are carried out by robots? As robots are becoming increasingly common in human
environments, people will be presented with more opportunities in addition existing jobs in healthcare
may be replaced by software, humanoid robots and smart machines by the year 2025. And there are
two WORDS with various opinions on this prospect. Doctors are not healthcare vending machines,
but professionals who understand the difference between negative rights, such as the right to refuse
treatment . (Cheshire, JR., MD). Physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers are professionals. A
healthcare professional, by contrast, undergoes many years of demanding training and sacrifice,
develops a practice, and pursues a vocation for the purpose of serving others. Professionals declare
that they are competent and willing to care for the sick, and they commit to healing as their way of
life. Smart machines and robots are service providers. Professionals are not the same as service
providers. Moreover to knowledge, professionalism consists of technical skills as well. A case in point

Why Do Airbags Make Seat Belts Unnecessary
Some people believe that airbags make seat belts unnecessary. They argue that seat belts are pointless
because an airbag will cushion one s impact with the steering wheel or dashboard. Although
convenient to believe, this isn t true. Air bags are designed to supplement seat belts and are not a
substitute for them. Seat belts are restraint devices that keep the person in position during a crash
while airbags are a cushion for the face. Specifically, they are meant to cushion the face of a seat
belted person. More details on this distinction are discussed next.
Airbags Alone May Cause Severe Injury
Without a seat belt, the motorist s face impacts the airbag while the rest of his body continues moving
forward underneath it. This may cause neck

Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 The importance of brand image on fashion clothing Clothing, as a matter of fact, is a kind of
necessity that helps keep our bodies warm. Human beings cannot live without the protection from
clothes in adverse conditions and this signifies how important clothing is for us. Nowadays, in
addition to the basic functions, clothes can also serve as fashion items, which can tell how significant
an individual is, express the status an individual has and what their personal image is like (O Cass,
2000). Thus, clothing can help represent our personal identity.
Shopping for clothes is one of the popular pastimes among people from all ages, different genders and
cultural backgrounds. Owing to the proliferation of brands in the clothing sector,

California Gardens, California And The East Bay Area
If you live in Oakland, California, you know that the weather is mild and temperate. Some might say
we have the perfect weather. Of course, these great weather conditions give us the ability to have easy
to care for gardens with a variety of low maintenance plants. This is your guide to growing a garden in
Oakland, California. What to Plant It s always best to try and use as many indigenous plants, or plants
native to your area, when planning a garden. Using native plants makes gardening much easier
because you are not fighting the natural conditions of the area vs. what the plant wants and needs to
survive. There are thousands of options when picking native plants for this area. Visit California
Gardens website and view their plant list for a full list. Here I have just listed a few plants that have
worked well in my own garden. Note, all of these are varieties that are native to Oakland, California
and the East Bay Area. Fruits Avocado Lemons Wildflower/Flowers California Poppy Vines Jasmine
Morning Glory Shrubs Rosemary Oleander Gardenia Trees Pitosporum Japanese Maple (okay.. this
might not be a native, but I planted one in my garden and was delighted at how it has thrived in all
weather conditions. These trees are unique, beautiful, and add that splash of color that might be
missing from your tree selections.) When to Plant In deciding when to plant, it is important to know

Strategic Alignment and Applications Implementation
Abstract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
II. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
We develop our theoretical framework by first reviewing definitions of IT infrastructure and its
components. We then define the concept of IT infrastructure flexibility and its relationship to strategic
IT business alignment and to applications implementation in the organization.
Information Technology Infrastructure
The topic of IT infrastructure has been a key issue for both researchers and practicing managers for
some time [see e.g., Brancheau, Janz, Wetherbe, 1996]. The organization s IT infrastructure basically
integrates technology components to support business needs but the IT infrastructure concept is more
complicated. The definition of IT infrastructure encompasses a variety of components. Based on
previous studies, Duncan [1995] stated that IT infrastructure includes a group of shared, tangible IT
resources that provide a foundation to enable present and future business applications [Broadbent
Weill, 1997; Davenport Linder, 1994; Earl, 1989; Keen, 1991; McKay Brockway, 1989; Niederman,
Brancheau, Wetherbe, 1991; Weill, 1993]. These resources include: (1) computer hardware and
software (e.g., operating systems); (2) network and telecommunications technologies; (3) key data; (4)
core data processing applications; (5) shared IT services. Duncan [1995] also stated that IT
infrastructure includes the alignment of IT plans to business objectives, the IT

The Unified Effect In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, (412) is the first
sentence in The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe. This beginning sentence sets the tone
of dark. Gothic Literature s style has elements of fear, horror, gloomy and death; it gives the feeling of
suspense and fear. This story is a great example of Gothic Literature. In this story the narrator goes to
Usher s house, which is mysterious, and becomes aware that the house is like Usher who is sick. Poe s
technique of the unified effect accomplishes its intended purpose through the setting, plot
development and imagery. One way Poe accomplished the unified effect was by the way he described
the setting. Poe used very descriptive words, Feeble gleams of encrimsoned light made their way
through the trellised panes, and served to render sufficiently distinct the more prominent objects,
(416). This sentence gives a certain dark tone Poe was achieving. This simply means that a dim,
reddened light was shining only on the important objects. The light being encrimsoned suggest that
there is blood or death. This is foreshadowing the ending of the story which contributes to the plot
development for Poe s technique. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He foreshadows many times throughout the story and creates suspense from the plot. One example of
foreshadowing, and I learned that the glimpse I had obtained of her person would thus probably be the
last I should obtain that the lady, at least while living, would be seen by me no more, (418). This tells
us that this would be the last time the narrator would see the lady and that she would be dead by the
end. On top of that, this lets the readers know that there is death involved, gives the feeling of
suspense, which helps with imagery, and sets a dark

Comparing the Restricted and Non restricted Carbohydrate Diet
I compared the physiological, psychological, and physical responses in restricted carbohydrate diets
and non restricted carbohydrate diets. These comparisons are found in various studies summarized
into a comparison article written by Brian D. Butki, Jeffrey Baumstark, and Simon Driver called
Effects of a Carbohydrate Restricted Diet on Affective Responses to Acute Exercise Among
Physically Active Participants. Throughout the studies compared in the article, subjects who
participated as a restricted or low carbohydrate dieter consumed meals with 20 grams of carbohydrates
per day whereas subjects who participated as a non restricted carbohydrate dieter were allowed to ...

By following the guidelines of the Atkin s Diet, the lack of carbohydrates in the diet induces high
amounts of ketone bodies. Ketone bodies are the fats that the body is not able to metabolize
completely because there are not enough carbohydrates available to aid fat digestion. Therefore in
order for the body to maintain proper function, also known as homeostasis, it burns the ketone bodies
off as energy, break down nutrients from other resources, such as the calcium from bones, and limit
the amount of energy to parts of the body to maintain homeostasis. These physiological responses
seem to occur consistently for dieters on low carbohydrate diets whereas non restricted carbohydrate
dieters were rarely observed to have any of these types of responses. In fact, studies show that balance
meals of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats provided in a non restricted carbohydrate diet provides the
body with sufficient nutrients to generate enough energy to maintain proper bodily function.
For the body to maintain proper bodily function, the body has to supply the brain with enough of
carbohydrates, which is its main energy source. However, as studies in the comparison article claim,
dieters on a restricted carbohydrate diet are at risk of not providing enough energy to the brain which
may also cause adverse affects to the

The Controversy Of Race And Authority
Has one ever felt disheartened watching the news and the headlines says that there was another
minority victim in an officer related shooting? Has one ever wondered why race versus authority is
such a huge problem? Has one ever asked how did society get this far as to physically harming law
enforcement? The answer is the media has allowed it to get this far. Race relations and authority has
been a deep rooted problem since the founding of this nation. By enslaving Africans and other
ethnicities, wealthy white forced them to long hard toils under the sun. Fast forward to the middle 19th
century and those enslaved have been set free yet those people are still being oppressed. Fast forward
now to the middle 20th century where one hundred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only that, but constantly churning out stories about the incident every hour until it ceases to matter
to them anymore. The media do not realize the problems created by the haphazard ways of this kind of
reporting. In the 1950 s, media could be said as being the polar opposite of today.
The 1950 s were a time in which televised news sources were not as frequent and plentiful as they are
now. One particular situation that needs to be pointed out happened right in the city of Montgomery,
known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, shows just how effective media can be when the priority is to
give the news without hyperbole or exaggeration. Going to Randall Kennedy s Yale Law article, the
writer describes the climate of the south at this time period Segregation was a way of life determined
in large part by whites who virtually monopolized state power and used that power to subjugate
blacks. (Kennedy) This is what minorities went through in the beautiful state of Alabama. The media
effectively allowed the visual representation of what was happening in Montgomery at the time. Of
course, there were some bias because of the majority white journalists at the time, but it was difficult
to state anything other than the truth with video evidence and picture evidence proving the reality.

China s fast entry into Fashion World after the 20th Century
The dawn of the 20th century brought in many challenges in China such as cultural, political,
economic, and social. The social changes increased its push after the 1911 revolution which caused in
the passing of the Qing Empire. Social improvement led to amendment in dress codes as well. The
head shaving and queue (long plait) men had been compulsory to wear, to validate their subservience,
gradually vanished. The practice of foot compulsory also decreased.
Dr Sun Yat sen (Sun Zhongshan) was a Provisional President of the Republic of China. He is a the
father of modern china. He was also qualified with the development of a method of national dress
which personified modern values and the impression of equality. Dr. Sun Yat sen suit was developed
over more than 50 years ago . It was a compound combination of : Japanese Meiji period (1868 1912)
student uniform, soldierly dress and the Western suit. The below figure is illustrating that.

Social Behavior For Children With Adhd
However, when CWPT was combined with peer coaching, there were improvements in social
behavior for children with ADHD (Plumer and Stoner, 2005).
Peer coaching may also be a good way to insure that students learn the hidden curriculum. The hidden
curriculum is information about values, beliefs and attitudes that are somehow conveyed to students
regarding the rules and routines needed to succeed in school and in society. The goals set by coaching
teams could easily include information from the hidden curriculum as it applies to the behavior of the
child with ADHD. For example, since children with ADHD often have difficulty with rule following,
a goal the child with ADHD could work on might be to raise his or her hand when the child wants to
speak.
Making Socially Accepting Inclusive Classrooms (MOSAIC) is a teacher implemented and directed
intervention designed specifically for children with ADHD to help them improve their social
interactions and peer relationships. MOSAIC is based on the theory that in order to achieve optimal
peer relationships, children with ADHD require classroom structures that aim to (a) increase peers
social acceptance of children with special needs such as ADHD, and (b) increase socially skilled and
reduce disruptive behaviors of children with ADHD. To achieve these aims, teachers in MOSAIC: (a)
model warm, positive interpersonal interactions with students (to encourage peers to follow this
example of social acceptance); and (b) institute

Man Vs. Society In The Sociology Of Leopard Man
Man VS Society
Living in society, we are under constant pressure to surrender our individuality to the will of the
majority, the school, the workplace, the family, etc. (Feys, P.6). Logan Feys, the author of The
Sociology of Leopard Man , states that society is persistently under pressure to change our individual
likings, personality, change the way we look, etc. to feel accepted and approved by society. The desire
to fit in and not be an outsider with social groups causes people to feel pressured and change
themselves to fit in. Fey s statement is correct that people conform with society to not be an outsider
or avoid the fear of possibly being an outsider.
Most people will change themselves and conform to fit in with the groups of people they want to be
apart of. The pressure of society causes people to form themselves into someone that they believe that
others would like and accept them. Logan Feys states, They may call themselves non conformists, but
most antisocial freaks, in their obsession with displaying their freakishness, are just as dependent on
others opinions as approval seeking socialites. (Feys, P. 2). This quote claims that not everyone
changes for society s requirements and that being a freak is similar to people changing for people s
approval. There s also those people that don t follow society s requirements and be themselves, non
conformists. Non conformist are people that live for their individuality and their own choices. Non

Differences In American Culture
Throughout the different cultures around the world, there are many traditions that have been in place
for many years. These traditions have been passed down from generation to generation and are looked
at as being normal in these cultures. To the United States, and other parts of the world, some of these
traditions are looked at as being crazy, bizarre, and even strange. There are many different cultures and
unique traditions associated with them, but these are 5 interesting traditions found around the world.
Philippians
In America, children are raised to respect their elders from an early age and this is generally the same
around the world. In the Philippians however, they practice the tradition of Pagmamano. Pagmamano
is a gesture that symbolizes respect for one s elders. It is akin to bowing, with the addition of taking an
elder s hand and pressing it to one s forehead. Americans usually understand to show their elders
respect, but the tradition of Pagmamano shows an actual sign of respect to the elder. This is a very
explicit sign of respect and would show why the Philippian culture treats their elders the way they do.

though, do not practice this tradition at all. In Greece and Mauritania, a child does not simply leave his

of their home. In Greece, this provides good luck and strong teeth. Greece has the tradition of

The project is developed based on the following software development cycle. It starts with collecting
the requirements and ends with the deployment phase with many phases in between. The phases in the
software development plan are Requirements Specification, planning and Design, code
Implementation, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance.Usually in the software development life
cycle we have considered after each and every phase if the requirements are not satisfied or if they are
infeasible, then we again go to the initial phases and the process is repeatedly iterated till the final
phases of the software development.
The basic idea of this agile software development life cycle is to develop a system or a process

Emily Grierson Isolation
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a complicated and controversial tale that, since its publication
in 1930, challenges social norms. The story is about the unfortunate life of an aristocratic woman,
Miss Emily Grierson, whose decrepit demeanor and eccentric behavior make her the town s subject of
scrutiny. After a series of odd events, Miss Emily dies and, upon her death, the townspeople discover
that her seclusion led her to harness the heinous powers of arsenic to murder Homer Barron, the lover
that attempted to desert her. Miss Emily kills Homer Barron because the town s incessant gossiping,
recognition of her gender, and acute awareness of her status create a toxic environment of isolation
that drives her to insanity and, ultimately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she does takes Homer Barron as her lover, the gossip that caused her initial isolation begins
again as some of the ladies [begin] to say that it [is] a disgrace to the town and a bad example to the
young people (Faulkner 520). She is raised knowing that a woman does not take a lover, instead she
marries young, has a family, and behaves like a proper southern woman. Miss Emily is an older
woman who is unmarried, and, during this period of time, engaging in a relationship with a man
deemed unworthy, as well as riding about town with him unaccompanied, is considered taboo. Miss
Emily is never permitted social happiness under the patriarchal system of her small, southern town
and it is her inability to cope with this reality that sends her to insanity. Furthermore, according to
Brooks Jr. and Warren, it is her proud refusal to admit an external [sexist] set of codes, or conventions,
or other wills that contradict her own will, which makes her capable at the end of keeping her lover
from going away (524). Miss Emily does not care that she is setting a poor example for the younger
generation because she wants companionship, and her contempt for the sexist conventions results in
the insanity that, ultimately, causes her to achieve a relationship in the most grotesque

The Cask Of Amontillado, By Poe
The narration The Cask of Amontillado by Poe has been universally referred to as the world s most
perfect stories. It is an emotional piece with every verdict contributing to the overall effect of a
completely unified work. Further, however, it may seem to be easy; this literary piece thrives in
ironies of various kinds. The narrator commences by informing the audience about the hurt and insult
he received from Fortunato. Besides, every sentence adds to the unity that the author wanted to
achieve. The plot of the story is quite simple. It is written in the first person, who is later discovered to
be named Montresor. Throughout the whole story, the main aim the narrator wants to reach is to
revenge on Fortunato, who insulted him. Thus, the most interesting parts of the tale deal with the
Montresor s techniques of trapping down his offender (Baraban 47). Unfortunately, he has never let
Fortunato learn of his hatred. The entire narration takes a form of a slur that could induce such a well
planned scheme of revenge.
Irony as a Theme
The diabolical massacre and further the fact that the narrator has lived with impunity are shocking to
the audience. The twofold and ironic perspective prolongs on every phase. For instance, when
Montresor meets Fortunato, he produces a smile of warm and friendliness, but in the real sense, the
smile is satanic (Charles 461). Therefore, this research elaborately revolves around the theme that Poe
employed in his short story, The Cask of

Reflective Essay On Student Affairs
This was my first student affairs conference. I have attended different conferences during my
undergraduate years but never for student affairs. I am happy that I did attend because I was got to
meet different individuals that have been on the feel for many years. Having this as an assignment
motivated me more to go. I know that for the following year I will attend even if is not an assignment.
I enjoyed the keynote speaker Dr. Vincent Vigil. His story was something I can relate while growing
up in that type of environments. Dr. Vigil message was inspiring to many of us and it shows how
many of us do not plan to be in student affairs but somehow we end up in this field.
When Dr. Vigil said his story, it reminded how I ended up in student affairs. It was a very similar
story, I had my mentor asked me if that is something I would consider. My mentor was who opened
many doors and my passion for student affairs. His passion for helping students was what inspired me
to be like that and follow his footsteps. At the conference, I meet many professionals that have been in
the field for a long time and that just started. I felt a little intimidated because I just started and it was
my first conference.
After the keynote speaker, I decided to attend the workshop of Academic Advising and Counseling . I
decided on this workshop because I want to become a counselor and I already work at a community
college. This workshop was structure to help student affairs professionals identify

Historical Inaccuracies In King Arthur
King Arthur, a movie starring Clive Owen and Keira Knightly, is placed under the genre historical
fiction , however the movie is unquestionably more of the fiction part of the genre than the historical
aspect of it. The movie is loosely based on the story of a King Arthur and his Knights. The movie was
set in 467 AD, in Britain, near Hadrian s Wall. Although the movie pertained Roman soldiers still in
Britain during 467 AD, this was factually inaccurate because all of the Roman s had left Britain prior
to this time, around 410 AD. The plot of the movie voiced the story of King Arthur and the Sarmatian
knights going on one last mission to save a Roman family from behind Hadrian s before they gain
their freedom, for the knights are not Roman. The story is told out of the ... Show more content on

The movie tries to blend together all of the myths and legends that pertain to the mystery of the
medieval and/or Roman King Arthur , such as Lancelot, Merlin, and Guinevere. Although the movie is
loosely based on historical facts, there are many inaccuracies and faults in the plot line and production
of the movie. Throughout the movie King Arthur, there are factual inaccuracies and accuracies
regarding weaponry, King Arthur himself, and Christianity. The weaponry used throughout the film by
the Roman forces and Knights during the battle scenes were erroneous to the actual weapons they
used during this time. The movie denoted and showed that the Romans used trebuchets, a type of siege
weapon. However, the Romans did not use this type of artillery (Lawton, Brian). The trebuchet was

School Boards And Legislative Bodies
During the Great Depression, schools began to provide lunch programs for school students, since
many homes could not afford to feed their children a full, well balanced meal (Hinman 16).
Throughout the past eighty years the budgets, regulations, and policies have been changed multiple
times. Whether or not these changes are helpful, are up for debate, and are topics many school boards
and legislative bodies are forced to discuss. Some of the most controversial topics being discussed are
the cost students pay, the quality of the food, the amount of food going to waste, and the obesity rate
of students. The lunches that are served in schools are typically over priced, made of poor quality,
thrown away, and is one of the leading causes to the increasing obesity rates. Two dollars and seventy
five cents is the average price students pay unless they are receiving free or reduced lunches. The issue
with these prices is that only a small fraction of students are paying the full amount while everyone
else around them is getting cut a deal by the government. Majority of students get free or reduced
lunches based on their families income and poverty level (Hinman 18). The federal government
provides approximately $9.8 billion to the federal school lunch program to feed approximately 50
million students a lunch every day. Most of the money provided goes towards feeding the students
from low income families that qualify for free or reduced lunches (Hinman 16). This makes it

The Life Of Prophet Muhammad
Amine Lehachi
Islamic History 1100
Mrs. Jorati
September 20th, 2015 The Life of Prophet Muhammad
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH Peace be upon him) is the messenger of God in Islam. He was born
in the city of Makkah (Mecca) in the Arabian Peninsula around 570 CE. Many historians believe he
became an orphan at a very early age. The Arabian Peninsula at the time had no law or order; people
were described as savages for their ill customs and traditions. People of Arabia worshipped idols and
ancient Arabian religions; some were also Christian and Jewish. When it came to religion people were
divided in the region, people were divided into tribes and had different sets of beliefs. Prophet
Muhammad set to change this, he wanted to unify the region and establish an independent nation.
Before he started his Prophecy he married an older woman, a widow named Khadijah, for whom he
had worked for in the caravan trade. When he was a merchant, he was known as al Amin, the trusted
one. When Prophet Muhammad was forty years old, he had a profound experience that really changed
his life. In this essay I will evaluate the significant events of his career starting with The First
revelation; The migration to Medina and lastly the great Battle of Badr. These significant events play
an important role on how the foundation of a newly reformed monotheistic religion called Islam came
to be.
A significant event that really changed the course of his life was when Prophet Muhammad was 40
years old.

Themes Of Women In Margaret Atwood s Lusus Naturae
Imagine looking in the mirror every day and not being able to recognize yourself. Going out in public
only to be mocked and insulted. Then ponder about how it would feel to be pushed and locked away
by your own parents. Most people would not enjoy the sound of being socially unacceptable in the
world they live in. But years ago women felt discouraged by the outside world. If women didn t meet
the expectations of others they would became an outcast. They were expected to only take care of the
house and kids. Do to these ways of thinking women were left under educated and a prisoner in their
own home. For the women who didn t fit in or had physical disorder they were labelled as freaks.
In Margaret Atwood s Lusus Naturae , a young girl/ monster is hidden away from the world because
her family will not accept her appearance. While her parents thought keeping her locked up in the
house was a beneficial decision, she became isolated and lacked the knowledge and understanding of
the world outside her four walls. Even though Lusus Naturae is a dark, twisted, and frightening tale
there is more to the story than just a freak of nature being hidden from the world. One must read the
story more in depth and closer to illustrate the themes of women s roles in society in relation to the
monster. Margaret Atwood uses symbolic parallels and narrative tones to exemplify her views of
women s historical roles in society.
The time and setting of Lusus Naturae plays along with women s

The Origin Of The Jews After The Babylonian Exile
The word Diaspora derives from the Greek Diasperien i.e. dia (through) and sperien (to scatter).
According to Webster s dictionary, Diaspora refers to dispersion so we can say that the word
represents a centre called home from where the dispersion occurs. In addition to it the dictionary it
also associates the meaning with the dispersion of the Jews after the Babylonian exile. Thus we get
two meanings of the word Diaspora as a spread of population and a forcible dispersal. However the
term Diaspora doesn t mean any nomadic existence, though it suggests a movement from one place to
another, but it s not a nomadic existence because it is somewhere a journey, however that does not
mean all journey can be understood as that of a Diaspora. As in Diaspora does not mean causal travel,
even though diasporic journeys are mainly about settling down and about having roots elsewhere.
Thus, the concept of Diaspora has different meanings to different people according to their different
circumstances. For instance, when the Jews were exiled from the Babylon, they were uprooted from
their own homes and they had to rebuild their community and culture all over again, for them the
diaspora had different meaning since it was forced. But today the meaning of Diaspora could be
limited to any community of a particular nation outside its own country, sharing some common bonds
that eventually give the community a new identity within their existing identity, it is notable that this

Horizontal And Vertical Integration During The Gilded Age
The Gilded Age was a period that transformed a mainly agrarian society into an urban industrial
society. It made several positive contributions to society and greatly advanced the economy. However,
the Gilded Age also produced negative outcomes that came along with industrialization and the rise of
large cooperations. Industry, labor unions, and immigration together created the Gilded Age which
was characterized by economic growth coupled with political and social inequality. To begin,
throughout the Gilded Age, economic power was held in the hands of few. Many cooperations aimed
to reduce competition through the use of horizontal and vertical integration. Vertical integration is the
combination of all phases of production into one organization. Horizontal integration is the
combination of competitors into one organization in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

industrialization but corruption and the actions of the bosses that created this situation consisting of
unfair treatment of workers (To Tramps the unemployed, the disinherited and miserable, 1884). In
addition, many were discriminated against even in society. The Chinese Exclusion Act demonstrates
the racism that still existed in American society during this time period. It stated, the coming of
Chinese laborers to the United States be, and the same is hereby suspended (United States At Large).
At first immigrants were needed to fuel industrialization, but once the United States believed there

Manifestations Of Mass Culture In The 1950s
Manifestations of Mass Culture in the 1950 s such as Consumerism, Suburbia, Materialism, were seen
as a new prosperity combined with a buy now pay later attitude began in America. These
manifestations were realized primarily as new forms of entertainment were disseminated to the
American public through TV. 76 million Baby Boomers born between 1946 and 1964 provided the
largest generational market in American history. Marked by the end of World War 2 and bolstered by
the emerging prosperity of this period a number of mass media fueled phenomenon began to grow into
existence. Television, Suburbia, and Materialism lead the way for aspired to lifestyles of the American
Masses. Arguably most important of these three was TV in that it provided the medium by which
practically all of the manifestations of Mass Culture were disseminated among the populace.
Affordable by most, by 1960 ninety percent of American households owned a TV. Supplying the
medium by which both the markets and the supply side of the American economy were watching and
capitalizing on, recreated and revolutionized much of the American economy. Most TV programing in
the late fifties and early sixties was generally conservative and projected mainstream traditional
American values. By pleasantly creeping into homes with this mainstream methodology TV became
an institutional mainstay and a necessity of the American way of life. From overnight fads to religion,
many new products were entering mainstream

  • 2. The Is Not Healthcare Vending Machines The technology promises seemingly limitless possibilities. Robots are already living among us, controlling your refrigerator, your smart phone, your personal computer and even your car. Some technology advancements sound far fetched to contemporary ears, and many people hesitate at the prospect of adopting them. Nonetheless should we embrace a cyborg future in which tasks great and small are carried out by robots? As robots are becoming increasingly common in human environments, people will be presented with more opportunities in addition existing jobs in healthcare may be replaced by software, humanoid robots and smart machines by the year 2025. And there are two WORDS with various opinions on this prospect. Doctors are not healthcare vending machines, but professionals who understand the difference between negative rights, such as the right to refuse treatment . (Cheshire, JR., MD). Physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers are professionals. A healthcare professional, by contrast, undergoes many years of demanding training and sacrifice, develops a practice, and pursues a vocation for the purpose of serving others. Professionals declare that they are competent and willing to care for the sick, and they commit to healing as their way of life. Smart machines and robots are service providers. Professionals are not the same as service providers. Moreover to knowledge, professionalism consists of technical skills as well. A case in point includes the exquisite ... • 3. Why Do Airbags Make Seat Belts Unnecessary Some people believe that airbags make seat belts unnecessary. They argue that seat belts are pointless because an airbag will cushion one s impact with the steering wheel or dashboard. Although convenient to believe, this isn t true. Air bags are designed to supplement seat belts and are not a substitute for them. Seat belts are restraint devices that keep the person in position during a crash while airbags are a cushion for the face. Specifically, they are meant to cushion the face of a seat belted person. More details on this distinction are discussed next. Airbags Alone May Cause Severe Injury Without a seat belt, the motorist s face impacts the airbag while the rest of his body continues moving forward underneath it. This may cause neck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... II. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK We develop our theoretical framework by first reviewing definitions of IT infrastructure and its components. We then define the concept of IT infrastructure flexibility and its relationship to strategic IT business alignment and to applications implementation in the organization. Information Technology Infrastructure The topic of IT infrastructure has been a key issue for both researchers and practicing managers for some time [see e.g., Brancheau, Janz, Wetherbe, 1996]. The organization s IT infrastructure basically integrates technology components to support business needs but the IT infrastructure concept is more complicated. The definition of IT infrastructure encompasses a variety of components. Based on previous studies, Duncan [1995] stated that IT infrastructure includes a group of shared, tangible IT resources that provide a foundation to enable present and future business applications [Broadbent Weill, 1997; Davenport Linder, 1994; Earl, 1989; Keen, 1991; McKay Brockway, 1989; Niederman, Brancheau, Wetherbe, 1991; Weill, 1993]. These resources include: (1) computer hardware and software (e.g., operating systems); (2) network and telecommunications technologies; (3) key data; (4)

  • 11. The Unified Effect In The Fall Of The House Of Usher During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, (412) is the first sentence in The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe. This beginning sentence sets the tone of dark. Gothic Literature s style has elements of fear, horror, gloomy and death; it gives the feeling of suspense and fear. This story is a great example of Gothic Literature. In this story the narrator goes to Usher s house, which is mysterious, and becomes aware that the house is like Usher who is sick. Poe s technique of the unified effect accomplishes its intended purpose through the setting, plot development and imagery. One way Poe accomplished the unified effect was by the way he described the setting. Poe used very descriptive words, Feeble gleams of encrimsoned light made their way through the trellised panes, and served to render sufficiently distinct the more prominent objects, (416). This sentence gives a certain dark tone Poe was achieving. This simply means that a dim, reddened light was shining only on the important objects. The light being encrimsoned suggest that there is blood or death. This is foreshadowing the ending of the story which contributes to the plot development for Poe s technique. ... This tells us that this would be the last time the narrator would see the lady and that she would be dead by the end. Comparing the Restricted and Non restricted Carbohydrate Diet I compared the physiological, psychological, and physical responses in restricted carbohydrate diets and non restricted carbohydrate diets. These comparisons are found in various studies summarized into a comparison article written by Brian D. Butki, Jeffrey Baumstark, and Simon Driver called Effects of a Carbohydrate Restricted Diet on Affective Responses to Acute Exercise Among Physically Active Participants. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By following the guidelines of the Atkin s Diet, the lack of carbohydrates in the diet induces high amounts of ketone bodies. Ketone bodies are the fats that the body is not able to metabolize completely because there are not enough carbohydrates available to aid fat digestion. Therefore in order for the body to maintain proper function, also known as homeostasis, it burns the ketone bodies off as energy, break down nutrients from other resources, such as the calcium from bones, and limit the amount of energy to parts of the body to maintain homeostasis. These physiological responses seem to occur consistently for dieters on low carbohydrate diets whereas non restricted carbohydrate dieters were rarely observed to have any of these types of responses. In fact, studies show that balance meals of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats provided in a non restricted carbohydrate diet provides the body with sufficient nutrients to generate enough energy to maintain proper bodily function. For the body to maintain proper bodily function, the body has to supply the brain with enough of carbohydrates, which is its main energy source. However, as studies in the comparison article claim, dieters on a restricted carbohydrate diet are at risk of not providing enough energy to the brain which may also cause adverse affects to the ... The 1950 s were a time in which televised news sources were not as frequent and plentiful as they are now. One particular situation that needs to be pointed out happened right in the city of Montgomery, known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, shows just how effective media can be when the priority is to give the news without hyperbole or exaggeration. Going to Randall Kennedy s Yale Law article, the writer describes the climate of the south at this time period Segregation was a way of life determined in large part by whites who virtually monopolized state power and used that power to subjugate blacks. • 19. Social Behavior For Children With Adhd However, when CWPT was combined with peer coaching, there were improvements in social behavior for children with ADHD (Plumer and Stoner, 2005). Peer coaching may also be a good way to insure that students learn the hidden curriculum. The hidden curriculum is information about values, beliefs and attitudes that are somehow conveyed to students regarding the rules and routines needed to succeed in school and in society. The goals set by coaching teams could easily include information from the hidden curriculum as it applies to the behavior of the child with ADHD. For example, since children with ADHD often have difficulty with rule following, a goal the child with ADHD could work on might be to raise his or her hand when the child wants to speak. Making Socially Accepting Inclusive Classrooms (MOSAIC) is a teacher implemented and directed intervention designed specifically for children with ADHD to help them improve their social interactions and peer relationships. MOSAIC is based on the theory that in order to achieve optimal peer relationships, children with ADHD require classroom structures that aim to (a) increase peers social acceptance of children with special needs such as ADHD, and (b) increase socially skilled and reduce disruptive behaviors of children with ADHD. To achieve these aims, teachers in MOSAIC: (a) model warm, positive interpersonal interactions with students (to encourage peers to follow this example of social acceptance); and (b) institute ... • 22. Man Vs. Society In The Sociology Of Leopard Man Man VS Society Living in society, we are under constant pressure to surrender our individuality to the will of the majority, the school, the workplace, the family, etc. (Feys, P.6). Logan Feys, the author of The Sociology of Leopard Man , states that society is persistently under pressure to change our individual likings, personality, change the way we look, etc. to feel accepted and approved by society. The desire to fit in and not be an outsider with social groups causes people to feel pressured and change themselves to fit in. Fey s statement is correct that people conform with society to not be an outsider or avoid the fear of possibly being an outsider. Most people will change themselves and conform to fit in with the groups of people they want to be apart of. The pressure of society causes people to form themselves into someone that they believe that others would like and accept them. Logan Feys states, They may call themselves non conformists, but most antisocial freaks, in their obsession with displaying their freakishness, are just as dependent on others opinions as approval seeking socialites. (Feys, P. 2). This quote claims that not everyone changes for society s requirements and that being a freak is similar to people changing for people s approval. There s also those people that don t follow society s requirements and be themselves, non conformists. Non conformist are people that live for their individuality and their own choices. These traditions have been passed down from generation to generation and are looked at as being normal in these cultures. To the United States, and other parts of the world, some of these traditions are looked at as being crazy, bizarre, and even strange. There are many different cultures and unique traditions associated with them, but these are 5 interesting traditions found around the world. Philippians In America, children are raised to respect their elders from an early age and this is generally the same around the world. In the Philippians however, they practice the tradition of Pagmamano. Pagmamano is a gesture that symbolizes respect for one s elders. It is akin to bowing, with the addition of taking an elder s hand and pressing it to one s forehead. Americans usually understand to show their elders respect, but the tradition of Pagmamano shows an actual sign of respect to the elder. This is a very explicit sign of respect and would show why the Philippian culture treats their elders the way they do. Henna Tattoos Tattoos have been around forever and mean ... All the modules are only accessible when the login credentials are correct. Once passed the security layer, the three modules interact with the GoogleAPI layer where the modules are able to access APIs such as google traffic, google search, google maps etc. The project is developed based on the following software development cycle. It starts with collecting the requirements and ends with the deployment phase with many phases in between. The phases in the software development plan are Requirements Specification, planning and Design, code Implementation, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance.Usually in the software development life cycle we have considered after each and every phase if the requirements are not satisfied or if they are infeasible, then we again go to the initial phases and the process is repeatedly iterated till the final phases of the software development. The basic idea of this agile software development life cycle is to develop a system or a process through repeated cycles with smaller portions at a time. This will help the software developers to have a good understanding of what they have learnt during the development phases than the earlier versions of the system. The possible advantage of the iterative and the incremental model combined is that with each and every iteration design modifications are to be made and new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is about the unfortunate life of an aristocratic woman, Miss Emily Grierson, whose decrepit demeanor and eccentric behavior make her the town s subject of scrutiny. After a series of odd events, Miss Emily dies and, upon her death, the townspeople discover that her seclusion led her to harness the heinous powers of arsenic to murder Homer Barron, the lover that attempted to desert her. • 27. The Cask Of Amontillado, By Poe The narration The Cask of Amontillado by Poe has been universally referred to as the world s most perfect stories. It is an emotional piece with every verdict contributing to the overall effect of a completely unified work. Further, however, it may seem to be easy; this literary piece thrives in ironies of various kinds. The narrator commences by informing the audience about the hurt and insult he received from Fortunato. Besides, every sentence adds to the unity that the author wanted to achieve. The plot of the story is quite simple. It is written in the first person, who is later discovered to be named Montresor. Throughout the whole story, the main aim the narrator wants to reach is to revenge on Fortunato, who insulted him. Thus, the most interesting parts of the tale deal with the Montresor s techniques of trapping down his offender (Baraban 47). Unfortunately, he has never let Fortunato learn of his hatred. The entire narration takes a form of a slur that could induce such a well planned scheme of revenge. Irony as a Theme The diabolical massacre and further the fact that the narrator has lived with impunity are shocking to the audience. The twofold and ironic perspective prolongs on every phase. For instance, when Montresor meets Fortunato, he produces a smile of warm and friendliness, but in the real sense, the smile is satanic (Charles 461). Therefore, this research elaborately revolves around the theme that Poe employed in his short story, The Cask of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

School Boards And Legislative Bodies During the Great Depression, schools began to provide lunch programs for school students, since many homes could not afford to feed their children a full, well balanced meal (Hinman 16). Throughout the past eighty years the budgets, regulations, and policies have been changed multiple times. Whether or not these changes are helpful, are up for debate, and are topics many school boards and legislative bodies are forced to discuss. Some of the most controversial topics being discussed are the cost students pay, the quality of the food, the amount of food going to waste, and the obesity rate of students. The lunches that are served in schools are typically over priced, made of poor quality, thrown away, and is one of the leading causes to the increasing obesity rates. Two dollars and seventy five cents is the average price students pay unless they are receiving free or reduced lunches. The issue with these prices is that only a small fraction of students are paying the full amount while everyone else around them is getting cut a deal by the government. Majority of students get free or reduced lunches based on their families income and poverty level (Hinman 18). The federal government provides approximately $9.8 billion to the federal school lunch program to feed approximately 50 million students a lunch every day. Most of the money provided goes towards feeding the students from low income families that qualify for free or reduced lunches (Hinman 16). This makes it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Webster s dictionary, Diaspora refers to dispersion so we can say that the word represents a centre called home from where the dispersion occurs. In addition to it the dictionary it also associates the meaning with the dispersion of the Jews after the Babylonian exile. Thus we get two meanings of the word Diaspora as a spread of population and a forcible dispersal. However the term Diaspora doesn t mean any nomadic existence, though it suggests a movement from one place to another, but it s not a nomadic existence because it is somewhere a journey, however that does not mean all journey can be understood as that of a Diaspora. As in Diaspora does not mean causal travel, even though diasporic journeys are mainly about settling down and about having roots elsewhere. Thus, the concept of Diaspora has different meanings to different people according to their different circumstances. For instance, when the Jews were exiled from the Babylon, they were uprooted from their own homes and they had to rebuild their community and culture all over again, for them the diaspora had different meaning since it was forced.
