Mental Illnesses Analysis
Regarding what is known as, mental illness makes it hard to believe or not to believe that mental
illness is real and not a myth. With the ongoing changes that are made to diagnosing patients as well
as the symptoms they must encounter, it is hard to know exactly what medical abnormalities would
fall under this category to be diagnosed with what is known as a mental illness. Do to the various
definitions and meanings that fall under mental illnesses I would have to say that I agree and disagree
with what Thomas Szasz has written. Szasz has some great points but many that I disagree with.
Doctors, as well as, medical experts diagnose individuals with what they are thought to be as mental
illnesses. But how is a mental illness diagnosed

How Did The Lennon s Rights Movement
Lennon left the Beatles in September 1969, just after they completed recording Abbey Road. The
news of the break up was kept secret until McCartney announced his departure in April 1970, a month
before the band released Let It Be, which was recorded just before Abbey Road. Not long after the
Beatles broke up, in 1970, Lennon released his debut solo album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band,
featuring a raw, minimalist sound that followed primal scream therapy. He followed it with 1971 s
Imagine, the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed of all Lennon s post Beatles
efforts. The title track was later named number 3 on Rolling Stone magazine s All Time Best Songs
list. Lennon and Ono moved to the United States in September 1971, but they were ... Show more

Documents later proved him correct two years after Nixon resigned which granted him permanent
U.S. residency. His immigration battle took a toll on Lennon s marriage, which led to him and Ono
separating in the fall of 1973. Lennon and Ono reconciled in 1974, and she gave birth to their only
child, a son named Sean, on Lennon s 35th birthday (October 9, 1975). Shortly thereafter, Lennon
decided to leave the music business to focus on being a father and husband. In 1980, John Lennon
returned to the music world with the album Double Fantasy, featuring the hit single (Just Like)

Zinc s Four Levels
Zinc has an atomic structure of 4 levels. As shown above, these are the 4 shells.
The four levels display their individual energy, overall adding up to the atomic number of 30. This can
be seen below.
First energy level: 2
Second energy level: 8
Third energy level: 18
Fourth energy level: 2
Total energy level: 30
Where is Zinc located in the Periodic Table ???
Zinc can be found in Period 1 and Group 4 on the periodic table ( In red at the bottom)
This is because of the atomic number that zinc contains and therefore that is why zinc is placed in that
order in the periodic table

The number of uses of Zinc in element and compound form
There are many uses of zinc in both elemental and compound form.
A major use for zinc metal is its industrial use. Zinc is involved in the galvanising process of iron as
well as steel s resistance to a chemical reaction made in the environment known as corrosion.
Alternatively, zinc is also used for medicinal purposes. It is the most essential chemical for human
functioning. Zinc sulphate also plays the same role as the normal element zinc
Zinc is a shiny silvery and bluish element.
Zinc can be used together with many other elements to form alloys. For example, Brass is an alloy of
zinc and copper mixed together.
Most air changes (discolours) zinc. However, with a thin layer of a coating, the zinc cannot be
oxidised.
There is little evidence for the Greeks showing that they had known of the existence of zinc . They
also claim that the called the zinc false silver , but had a reasoning that they could not produce

How Pearl Harbor Changed American History
December 7,1941, was a day in tera. The Japanese attack Pearl Harbor Changed the American History.
On December 8,1941, the U.S. declared war on Japan. Then the U.S. declared war on Germany and
Italy after they did the same to us. This is how the U.S. got involved in World War II. The attack on
Pearl Harbor was a bad day for United States and there are a lot of people still sad that it had
happened. The morning after the attack on December 8,1941, was a beautiful day until the U.S. was
blindsided. All the men and women on Pearl Harbor were not on alert when the Japanese came

and sank with more than 1,000 men trapped inside. The soldiers and sailor on Pearl Harbor manage to
destroy 28 airplanes and sunk 5 of their submarines. They dropped 1,800 pound bombs on the deck of
the battleship USS Arizona. USS Arizona and USS Utah were the only two ships left but they needed

Siopis In Face The Drink
Penny Siopis and Egon Schiele influenced the use of colour in my piece Face the Drink . Siopis
influenced it by her lithograph Model Prisoners , which showed me how expressive colour really is.
Egon Shciele influenced my work, by the way he uses distorted figures and faces to express emotion,
as well as his use of arbitrary colour. Both Schiele and Siopis has taught me many different techniques
that I am excited to use in the future. Penny Siopis influenced my drawing style by the use of her
emotive colours (predominately red) and her semi distorted faces, from her Pinky Pinky series. In her
lithograph Model Prisoners a lot of emotion is shown through her use of red, to symbolising intense
passion, aggression, and courage. My goal for my piece Face the Drink would be, like Siopis, to show
emotion through the colour and distortion of tone. My concept behind Face the Drink is to express
alcohol abuse and how it makes one feel, by simply using colour to make viewers feel the dizzy effect
alcohol gives people. My main aim is to fill the wall with my distorted, colourful faces to make people
feel over whelmed and uncomfortable. Siopis taught me that a message can still be strong without the
use of many colours, but in my case I felt like my piece needed many colours to portray the message.
My piece has rough washes of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Yellow Wallpaper, By Harrison Bergeron
By comparing both stories together, and the characters within them, it is clear that neither the narrator
from The Yellow Wallpaper or Harrison from Harrison Bergeron agree with the way they are being
treated caused by their social, political and economic standpoint in society. In both stories they have
opposing forces trying to dictate their life, and telling them who they are supposed to be. Within the
story The Yellow Wallpaper , the narrator is being authorized by her husband john and in the story
Harrison Bergeron , Harrison is being oppressed by his government system. In both societies of the
stories, the characters are treated differently for who they are. The people to have more power in their
lives, decide who they are and what they can be. The ultimate outcome of their life is up to the forces
controlling them. Both characters have no way to escape the labels given to them, without going
against the people restraining their potential. The characters have many good attributes to them, but
are confined to being what others tell them to be. The narrator has wonderful writing skills and an
active mind which allows her to be creative and have an artistic personality, but her husband will not
allow her to write or be who she wants to be because he has the capability to control who she is.

Commercial Property Disadvantages
Disadvantages of commercial property 1. Commercial property is susceptible to economic downturns.
2. The underlying costs may be high. 3. Commercial property can be tough to sell when values are
declining, even when a fund is used. 4. Portfolio use 5. Due to the probable difficulty in selling
commercial property holdings, commercial property is best used to expand your portfolio instead of as
a core portfolio holding. Return expectations from commercial property There are two possible
sources of investment return when it comes to commercial property. These are: 1. Capital growth:
Capital growth refers basically to increases in the value of property. Capital growth has a tendency to
be helpful in times of good financial growth; this can be uninteresting when growth is slow and
damaging in downturns. Just as economic forecasting has a tendency to be a particularly undependable
science, property price forecasting is likely to be unreliable and pose great differences of opinion.
Gains and losses are to be expected, but may in the end even them out. 2. Rental yield: In due course,
rental profit is likely to be a grander contributor to profits than capital growth, along with being
significantly more dependable. In times when rental yields are great in comparison to government
bond yields, it could be wise time to invest in commercial property. In Ireland and the UK, leases have
a tendency to be long, normally for 10 or more years at the beginning. This means that the rental

Taking a Look at Inventory Management
Introduction
Inventories are those asset items which are either used for the production of goods to be sold or used
directly for the purpose of sales. It is a major portion of current assets and thus there is need to do
careful investment in the same. Different kind of companies has different forms of inventory. For
example; a company that is into direct selling of readymade goods will have only merchandise
inventory in their accounts while the manufacturing companies will have inventory in three forms i.e.
raw materials, work in progress and the final or finished product. The inventory at different stages
plays different roles like the raw materials are that inventory which is used for the production of goods
for selling purpose. Work in progress is that inventory which is in production, i.e. goods in production
for sale and the final or finished product is that inventory which is ready for sale .
Balance Sheet Format
Thus, the Balance Sheet format of the two companies would look like:
Balance Sheet for Merchandising Company
Particulars Amount
Current Assets
Bills Receivables
Inventories
Prepaid Expenses
Cash
Balance Sheet for Manufacturing Company

Current Assets
Bills Receivables
Short term investments
Prepaid Expenses

Essay Informative Speech About Tattoos
It seems like everyone has one these days. What used to be the property of sailors, outlaws, and biker
gangs is now a popular body decoration for many people. And it s not just anchors, skulls, and
battleships anymore, from school emblems to Celtic designs to personalized symbols; people have
found many ways to express themselves with them. Maybe you ve thought about getting one. Well
before you head down to the nearest tattoo shop and roll up your sleeve, there are a few things you
need to know.
So You Ask, What Exactly is a Tattoo? A tattoo is a puncture wound, made deep in your skin, that s

Although it looks a lot cooler than a big scab, a new tattoo is also a wound and like any other scrape,
puncture, cut or penetration to your skin, a tattoo is at risk for infections and disease. You need to
make sure you are up to date with your immunizations (especially hepatitis and tetanus shots) and plan
where you will get medical care if your new tattoo does become infected. Signs of infection include
excessive redness or tenderness, prolonged bleeding, pus, or changes in your skin color around the
tattoo. If you have a medical problem such as heart disease, allergies, diabetes, skin disorders or any
condition that affects your immune system or are prone to infections, you should ask your doctor
before deciding to get a tattoo. Also, if you are prone to getting keloids (an overgrowth of scar tissue
in the area of the wound), it s probably best to avoid getting a tattoo altogether.
Avoiding Infection It s very important to make sure the tattoo studio is clean and safe, and that all
equipment is disposable (needles, gloves, masks, etc.) and that everything is sterilized. You can call
your state, county, or local health department to ask for recommendations on licensed tattoo shops, or
to ask about any complaints about a particular studio.
Professional studios take pride in their cleanliness; here are a few things to check for:
Make sure the studio has an autoclave which is a device that

Stereotyping In Seedfolks
The characters in the novel Seedfolks have many different backgrounds and stories. Because of all the
diversity in cultures, personalities, and knowledge, the people in Seedfolks have to deal with a lot of
stereotyping. The characters in Seedfolks help each other to overcome the challenges they face
because of this. Sam, Maricela, and Amir are all characters who experience stereotyping in Seedfolks.
Sam sees stereotyping often in the community, and he wants to fix it. He frequently notices that people
judge him because he is both Caucasian and Jewish, so he starts up conversations with random people.
On page 31 of Seedfolks, Sam says, People see I m friendly, no matter what they ve heard about
whites or Jews. Sam knows that people are always going to be judgemental, because that s what
society has taught them, but he still tries to help people find the good in others and spread kindness.

The New President Faces Challenges At The Department Of...
The Life of an Executive Order
The new president faces significant challenges at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Rectifying these short comings is important if the U.S. is to remain secure and prosperous.
On January 27th, 2017, president Trump signed an executive order dealing with immigration. The
order took effect immediately and sparked anger and confusion across the nation. Dozens of
international travelers were detained at airports across the country. Most of those detained were simply
caught up in a government communication limbo. The order placed a temporary moratorium on
immigration from seven countries Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

The order had been reviewed by the Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) before it was
issued. The OLC, whose authority addresses the form and whether the order is properly drafted,
approved the order. Yates objected to the president s executive order. Yates declared that as long as she
was acting attorney general, the Department of Justice would not present arguments in defense of the
executive order until she became convinced that it was appropriate to do so. Clearly, since Yates did
not issue this statement on the grounds that the order was illegal, she based her decision on her
disagreement with the justice of the order.
Consequently, Yates was fired. This action fortified the legal battle we are debating today. Timeline of
Trumps Order and the Court Filings
Sunday, Jan. 29 Federal lawsuits were filed in New York, Massachusetts, Virginia and Washington on
behalf of travelers who were detained in airports in the United States.
Later Sunday evening, the White House said that legal permanent residents are exempt from the travel
restrictions in the new executive order, referring to green card holders.

Most entities do not have the technological capability to keep track of up to date bitcoin market prices
at the time of bitcoin exchange. Providers such as BitPay or Coinbase have effectively made it easy to
account for bitcoin by immediately transforming bitcoin into a legal unit of currency. For this reason,
the business that accepts bitcoin are transferring bitcoin to a third party and the third party is
transferring legal tender. Traditional accounting systems can then classify and record the transaction.
Due to bitcoins nature and the legality of it the IRS has classified it as property and not currency for
U.S. federal tax purposes. General tax principles that relate to property transactions apply to
transactions using bitcoin and other virtual currencies. The IRS states virtual currency has an

Rape And The Justice System

Social Problems

4 April. 2016 Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town
Rape is one of the most violent crime known to man. It is also one of the most challenging to bring to
court. Considering that rape and consensual sex can hold the exact same evidence aka DNA evidence.
The book Missoula: Rape and the Justice system in a college town by John Krakauer, goes so far in
depth about the rapes that some women endured while attending the University of Montana. The way
the sexual assaults are described make you feel as if you lived them yourself. Other crimes such as
murder are far more talked than rape. This is because it is typically a crime the targets women. Men
can be raped too. But it doesn t happen near as often. Therefor, there is less media coverage. All over
the globe people have different views on rape. From people stating that women who dress
provocatively deserve rape. To this quote by Jessica Valenti; Now, should we treat women as
independent agents, responsible for themselves? Of course. But being responsible has nothing to do
with being raped. Women don t get raped because they were drinking or took drugs. Women do not get
raped because they weren t careful enough. Women get raped because someone raped them (p.1). The
target of this book is about the rapes committed by the UM football team and/or UM students and how

It is estimated that each year approximately 1060 pregnant women suffer brain death worldwide
(somatic support). There are many ethical dilemmas wrapped into this one scenario making it difficult
to navigate for healthcare providers. Each state has individual laws regarding treatment of pregnant
women unable to make healthcare decisions. In Pennsylvania, the law necessitates life sustaining
treatment, including nutrition and hydration to pregnant women who are unable to make healthcare
decisions and have an end stage medical condition. The only exceptions to this law require an
attending physician and an obstetrician to agree that providing life sustaining treatment (1) will not
maintain the pregnant woman in such a way as to permit the continuing development and live birth of
the unborn child; (2) will be physically harmful to the pregnant woman; or (3) will cause pain to the
pregnant woman that cannot be alleviated by medication. (Title 20 Ch 54 A 5429) Although this law
seems clear, interpretations may differ due to case by case differences and gray areas.
Per the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), a diagnosis of brain death is
considered legally and clinically dead. It is evidenced by coma, absence of brainstem reflexes and
apnea, and is defined as an irreversible loss of brain function. (Brain Death) As a healthcare provider,

Is There Something Psychologically Unhealthy About Being A...
Fandom Phenomenon Fandoms, do you know what they really are or do you have a misguided
understanding from popular media? Fandom is a broad spectrum of interest, from reading comic
books to watching television shows, a fandom members involvement is central to themselves.
Unfortunately for Fandom members what they view as a hobby has been warped by the media and
they are viewed by society as wanting to escape any real life responsibilities. What makes a person a
Fandom member? The definition of a fandom member is simple; if you want to be a member, than you
are a member. You can simply walk into the welcome arms of Fandom life and the Fandom will
embrace you. Unfortunately the over obsessive fringe dwellers of the Fandom community have been
highlighted in the media to create a misguided representation of the whole group. Is it right to judge a
whole group on the actions of one person who might have Twilight tattoos covering their entire back?

Reflection Paper On Perseverance
Research Reflection
Before I began researching I was really passionate about the ability to persevere and I knew I wanted
to talk about perseverance and explain why it was such an essential characteristic to have. I especially
wanted to find examples of many others that had to persevere to get through their own tough times.
But when I originally started researching my topic I did not exactly have anything in mind about what
I was exactly looking for. This was mainly due to that I had the ideas in my head but did not know
how to put those in a way that I could deliver it for the whole class to understand. So as I began
researching I focused on just using perseverance in school, like not giving up after not getting a
concept the first time. But after looking through a few articles I found many examples of when
perseverance was used in other ways, such as building things for society or ways in which one can be
successful. This then broadened my perspective on perseverance and showed me the benefits of it.
The Grit: the Power of Passion and Perseverance. Ted Talk video was extremely helpful for my
research since it gave me numerous amounts of examples of how the main thing that distinguishes
kids for who they are is perseverance. I found out that one s intelligence quality is not determined by
their test scores, but rather it is determined by how they improve on making those test scores the best
they can be. Most of the things in the Ted Talk I had heard about before or

Essay on Queen Elizabeth
The last queen of the Tudor dynasty, Queen Elizabeth I proved to be on of the most celebrated, and
controversial leaders in English history. Raised in a neglectful home, and shadowed by her mother s
reputation, Elizabeth did not have the royal treatment that her siblings received. From her birth, she
was a disappointment, as a child she was intelligent, yet unnoticed, and the road to her 1558 1603
reign was troubled. Elizabeth was born on September 7, 1533. To the disappointment of King Henry
VII, her father, she was a presumptive heir to the throne. Elizabeth s older sister, Mary, would have
been heir to the throne, but that was stripped from her when Henry VII divorced her mother, Catherine
of Aragon. Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth s mother, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mary?s determination was to destroy the Protestant faith in England. One of her acts as queen was
confining Elizabeth to the Tower of London for two months on suspicion of collaborating against her
plans. Mary suspected that she was pregnant, and Elizabeth?s probability at descending the throne was
diminishing rapidly, although Mary recognized Elizabeth as heir to the throne. It turned out Mary was
not pregnant, and she became very ill. On November 17, 1558 she died. On January 15, 1559
Elizabeth became queen at the age of twenty five. A light snow fell on the packed London streets as
the new queen was celebrated. The queen repeatedly told her people ?I thank you with all my heart.?
After the coronation ceremony, Elizabeth sat down to a lavish ten hour banquet. Many challenged the
queen?s right to absolute power. John Knox stated ?Women are unsuited to rule.? Elizabeth made it
abundantly clear she would not stand for disobedience. During her reign, Elizabeth enjoyed charming
men into agreeing with her views. To insure that her statesmen and courtiers did not take their
positions for granted, she alternated between outburst of royal displeasure and displays of humor and
warmth. Elizabeth was considered by most to be a gorgeous queen, and her beauty was unmatched.
During her childhood, while living with Catherine Parr, Elizabeth experienced emotional distress
which many believe affected her love

After completing the survey the Likert scale questions were reverse coded, to make one the least likely
and five the most likely. At that point the results for each category were added together to create an
average score. The open ended questions were used to determine a general trend for why people
choose the diets they consume.
RESULTS
Quantitative Looking at Figure 1 we see that respondents tended to buy and consume conventional
foods (score of 104 out of 120) and organic products (score of 101 out of 120) the most, while home
grown, gluten free, and vegetarian/vegan products were bought and consumed significantly less.
Similarly in Figure 2, which rates the importance of food choices, respondents drastically preferred
organic products (score of 106 out of 120) to all other types of foods. Ninety two percent of
participants believed that sustainable food costs more than conventional products, and 64% of
participants believed that consuming sustainably should be a mandated practice. However participants
had varied responses on who had the greatest influence on sustainable consumption (see Figure 3). At
the top, participants rated communities (score of 79 out of 112), legislation/ governments (score of 72
out of 112), and individuals/ households (score of 70 out of 112), while food producers and the general
public scored slightly lower. When it came to incorporating sustainability into

Indiana University Southeast s Future Success
The marketing audit is presented as a factor of Indiana University Southeast s future success. The
paper will compare Bellarmine, Sullivan, Spalding, Purdue Polytechnic of New Albany, and
University of Louisville to Indiana University Southeast. The five universities listed pose as serious
competition for Indiana University Southeast. The audit will go into depth on why these five all serve
the same target market. The paper presents the results of research conducted through the National
Center for Education Statistics and by various college search engines. Based on the research
conducted, the audit states the main factors influencing Indiana University Southeast s future growth
and a better retention rate that have an impact on IUS s progress now. In conclusion, the audit presents
findings and conditions that will better help in fixing IUS S barriers in operating.
I. Competitive Market Analysis
a. Indiana University Southeast has a target market that consists of traditional students that are under
the age of 25. These traditional students are mostly coming to IUS straight out of high school. Indiana
University Southeast is now expanding their target market again to non traditional students because of
the decreasing high school graduate rate from Clark, Floyd, and Harrison county high schools. Greater

The Ambivalence of Direct Democracy Essay
The California Constitution states, All political power is inherent in the people. Government is
instituted for their protection, security, and benefit, and they have the right to alter or reform it when
the public good may require. (CA Const. art. 2, sect. 1) Indeed, the age old maxim that the government
is for the people is evident in California s Constitution, and the inception of direct democracy by the
early 20th century Progressive movement follows this ideology. The 2nd article of California s
constitution includes three forms of direct democracy: the initiative, referendum, and recall.
Respectively, these forms of direct democracy grant electors the power to propose statutes and
amendments, adopt or reject statutes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Direct democracy s initiative sounds appealing in theory, but realistically, history has shown that the
average voter is incapable of truly assessing the effects and repercussions of these ballot proposals.
This is clearly exemplified by Proposition 13, an initiative that, as author Isaac Martin states, became
a nationwide symbol of tax revolt (Martin). Proposition 13 essentially set the property tax rate to 1%
and stated that the assessed value of homes could not exceed the 1975 76 assessed value. This reduced
taxes by about 57% (californiataxdata.com), a truly drastic decrease, which translates to a loss of $7
billion in property taxes during the 1978 79 fiscal year (McCaffery Bowman, 530). Consequently,
Proposition 13 led to intense repercussions; the huge decreases in finances forced local agencies to
look for funding elsewhere, and severe cuts were made. The Los Angeles Times conducted a survey of
70 southern school districts and found that two thirds of them had eliminated or sharply curtailed
summer school. Also, Long Beach school sent layoff notices to nearly half of its staff of teachers, and
by June 28th there was a total of 3,252 estimated layoffs with 165,000 imminent layoffs. The
repercussions continued, with prices escalating to cover the decline of financing. And ironically,

The Contribution Of David Hunter Hubel
Introduction In 1981, D.H Hubel and T.N Wiesel were awarded half of the Nobel prize in Physiology
or Medicine, along with R.W. Sperry who received the other half. The two had been conducting
experiments and publishing their findings together for over twenty years, before they were awarded
the Nobel prize for their discoveries concerning information processing in the visual system. They
produced many reports including single and complex cells, and ocular dominance. Their work
provided better understanding of the visual system and therefore led the way for others to develop
knowledge and treatment of eye conditions. Their discovery also helped other scientists to conduct
and publish work of their own.
Background

Their experiments took place on anaesthetized cats with microelectrodes inserted into their primary
visual cortex, their eyes were also held open allowing the experiment to be conducted. Small spots of
light were shone onto the restricted retinal regions which often would cause brisk responses and could
be divided into excitatory and inhibitory regions (shown in fig.1). Excitatory areas if illuminated
produced an increased frequency of firing compared to inhibitory regions, although both did produce
responses. Stationary spots showed that the excitatory and inhibitory regions were aligned side by side
within the central responsive area, flanked by antagonistic areas. Light stimulus covering the whole
receptive field was practically ineffective in most units due to mutual antagonism between excitatory
and inhibitory regions, shown in figure 1 (f).
A vertical slit of light was projected, which only covered the excitatory areas and avoided all
inhibitory areas, however when turned horizontally, it touched inhibitory areas and responses were
dramatically reduced or lost completely. This was due to the stimulation of excitatory areas being
smaller than the antagonistic areas that were stimulated and thus responses shielded. The excitatory
and inhibitory areas had similar shape and positioning and responded in the same way to directional
movement (Hubel and Wiesel, 1959).

Intelligence And Weapons Of Mass Destruction Programs
Introduction and Purpose Statement
Intelligence has proved to be essential to military actions since antiquity, particularly concerning
invasions from a nation s military. Invading Iraq due to the determination of the continued Weapon of
Mass Destruction programs in 2003 resulted, in part from intelligence received by human intelligence
sources. The specific cause that led to the initial determination to invade was the belief that Iraq
maintained a Weapon of Mass Destruction program at the same time also suggesting that Saddam had
links to Terror groups. Additionally, the Iraqi Weapon of Mass Destruction Programs during the 1998
inspection from the United Nations led to the assessment of the weapon systems in Iraqi.
Consequently, the Iraq war had resulted in thousands dead along including an unstable nation.
Inquiries post invasion revealed critical flaws within the intelligence collected. Much of the
information provided to the Central Intelligence Agency along with the National Security Council
from human intelligence proved to be incorrect. Furthermore, the incorrect information had
compounded the issue with a limited network of assets in Iraq to verify the intelligence received. One
of the most important intelligence failures of the 21st Century is seen in the invasion of Iraq. How can
the review of intelligence collections conducted on pre war Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction
programs better determine the faults in intelligence received from human intelligence sources,

Similarities Between Coaching And Feedback
Feedback versus Coaching: Same or Different? There are similarities between feedback and coaching,
and in fact feedback is a part of coaching. Feedback on its own may seem to be a much shorter process
of giving comments or advice about something that has or has not happened, and usually ends by
someone making suggestions or asking how it could be done better. Coaching adds to feedback by
providing a process for change, adding support for commitment to action. How to Provide Feedback
Effectively Giving and receiving feedback has long been considered to be an essential skill for
managers and leaders. Employees need to know how they are doing as they strive to achieve their
organisation s goals. They need to know how they are doing, whether the performance is up to
standard, and if not, how they can improve. When improvement is needed, The S/TAR concept
provides an effective method for providing feedback about the behaviour or results observed. The
approach should also include suggestions or prompts towards how to handle the situation in the future.
For example, let s say you observed an employee refusing a request from another department. You
could use the STAR concept to provide feedback on what you ... Show more content on

Managers then meet to recalibrate and gain final agreement on performance levels; this becomes a bun
fight, and many of those rated at exceeds level are reappraised at meets , which can be discouraging.
The idea that five people in a work group could all be performing equally, but must be ranked from
one to five in order to divide up compensation dollars, seems unfair. In fact, many employees cite
informal, forced ranking as their major source of frustration with their organisation s performance
management system. This approach often results in fostering competitive rather than collaborative

How The Current Status And Future Of The Company
Introduction Modern technology has necessitated the use of communicating through the social
networking site on regular time intervals. Social networking sites have brought the world closer and
helped us connect easily. Individuals ensure to commit a minimum of an hour or two over the internet.
Social networking sites have helped employers and educational institutions to assess their employees
and help them in the hiring process. At the same time, students make use of these sites to stay
connected with the university activities. Such dependency is inevitable in the connected
communicating world. With time many networking sites have developed with different features.
Amongst all these sites the most influential and popular site has been Facebook. The site has seen
considerable development and growth over the last decade. The company initiated as a college
directory for Harvard University and then expanded over time to include more universities since its
inception in 2004. Currently, it stands as a public company which is valued at $2 billion. The paper

Disengagement Theory Research Paper
According to the text, there are three types of psychosocial theories of aging the disengagement
theory, activity theory, and continuity theory. Disengagement theory proposes that when people age
they will gradually withdraw from the world and society. They will become less interested in the
world. The reason being is that older people have lower energy levels and are incapable of functioning
in a way that is productive and energetic. The activity theory is the contrast of the disengagement
theory.
The activity theory suggests that aging looks different in different people. Older people who lives an
active lifestyle typically maintain that existence; therefore, ages successfully. Whereas, those who
lived an inactive lifestyle may age unsuccessfully. For example, my grandmother who has been retired
for seven years now stays active by involving herself in volunteer work, joining clubs, and socializing.
According to the activity theory, because my grandmother has chosen to remain active, growing older
for her will be less futile.
Then there is the continuity theory, which is similar to the activity ... Show more content on

I do not believe that there is one explanation to describe the aging process. Physiological change is
based on different factors like a person s genetic. Some people are born into different gene pools that
makes the aging process different for people. In review of my own family history, my maternal great
grandmother lived to the age of 104. I view her aging process as successfully. She was active and
mobile. Her health was fair. Physically she appeared to be in decent shape. She was able to recall
events and information. Her skin was not youthful, but for her age it was not wrinkled. Her emotional
and mental health appeared composed. It was said that her mother age in a similar way. This leads me

Physics of Boating Essay
The first thing you should know is the physics behind a boat, seeing how you can t have a boating
adventure without one. To keep it simple, let s check out the main thing you should know about a
boat: Buoyancy. Buoyancy, by definition, is the upward force exerted by a liquid on any immersed
object. If the force of the liquid on the object is greater than that of the object on the liquid then the
object will float. In other words buoyancy is dependent upon the density of the liquid and the volume
of the object submerged.
Buoyancy:
Fb= d*g*V
Where Fb= the magnitude of the buoyant force
d= density of the liquid, g= force of gravity (9.8 m/s^2), V= volume of the submerged object

There are two low tides and two high tides each day. Low tide is when you smell dead fish. High tide

The bald eagle is not an uncommon sight when boating in Southeast Alaska. It is a massive bird that
flies with the greatest of ease. Lets take a look at the casually oversimplified physics behind the flight
of a bird. Basically, birds wings are not flat but are shaped like an aerofoil. Air passes over or under
the wing as the bird moves forward, or as the wind blows. The air that moves over the top of the wing
has further to travel to get across the wing, thus it speeds up. This causes the pressure to drop because
the same amount of air is exerting its pressure over a greater area. Therefore, any given point
experiences less pressure. This effectively sucks the wing up. Meanwhile the air going below the wing
experiences the opposite effect. It slows down, generates more pressure and effectively pushes the
wing up. Hence a bird with air moving over its wings is pulled up from above and pushed up from
below.

following the British invasion during the War of 1812 and named after President James Monroe. Fort
Monroe was a vital piece in America s defense and history. Fort Monroe also known as Freedom s

Siopis influenced it by her lithograph Model Prisoners , which showed me how expressive colour really is. Egon Shciele influenced my work, by the way he uses distorted figures and faces to express emotion, as well as his use of arbitrary colour. Both Schiele and Siopis has taught me many different techniques that I am excited to use in the future. Penny Siopis influenced my drawing style by the use of her emotive colours (predominately red) and her semi distorted faces, from her Pinky Pinky series. In her lithograph Model Prisoners a lot of emotion is shown through her use of red, to symbolising intense passion, aggression, and courage. My goal for my piece Face the Drink would be, like Siopis, to show emotion through the colour and distortion of tone. My concept behind Face the Drink is to express alcohol abuse and how it makes one feel, by simply using colour to make viewers feel the dizzy effect alcohol gives people. My main aim is to fill the wall with my distorted, colourful faces to make people feel over whelmed and uncomfortable. Siopis taught me that a message can still be strong without the use of many colours, but in my case I felt like my piece needed many colours to portray the message. • 10. Commercial Property Disadvantages Disadvantages of commercial property 1. Commercial property is susceptible to economic downturns. 2. The underlying costs may be high. 3. Commercial property can be tough to sell when values are declining, even when a fund is used. 4. Portfolio use 5. Due to the probable difficulty in selling commercial property holdings, commercial property is best used to expand your portfolio instead of as a core portfolio holding. Return expectations from commercial property There are two possible sources of investment return when it comes to commercial property. These are: 1. Capital growth: Capital growth refers basically to increases in the value of property. Capital growth has a tendency to be helpful in times of good financial growth; this can be uninteresting when growth is slow and damaging in downturns. Just as economic forecasting has a tendency to be a particularly undependable science, property price forecasting is likely to be unreliable and pose great differences of opinion. Gains and losses are to be expected, but may in the end even them out. 2. Rental yield: In due course, rental profit is likely to be a grander contributor to profits than capital growth, along with being significantly more dependable. In times when rental yields are great in comparison to government bond yields, it could be wise time to invest in commercial property. In Ireland and the UK, leases have a tendency to be long, normally for 10 or more years at the beginning. This means that the rental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book Missoula: Rape and the Justice system in a college town by John Krakauer, goes so far in depth about the rapes that some women endured while attending the University of Montana. But when I originally started researching my topic I did not exactly have anything in mind about what I was exactly looking for. This was mainly due to that I had the ideas in my head but did not know how to put those in a way that I could deliver it for the whole class to understand. One of her acts as queen was confining Elizabeth to the Tower of London for two months on suspicion of collaborating against her plans. Mary suspected that she was pregnant, and Elizabeth?s probability at descending the throne was diminishing rapidly, although Mary recognized Elizabeth as heir to the throne. It turned out Mary was not pregnant, and she became very ill. On November 17, 1558 she died. On January 15, 1559 Elizabeth became queen at the age of twenty five. A light snow fell on the packed London streets as the new queen was celebrated. The queen repeatedly told her people ?I thank you with all my heart.? After the coronation ceremony, Elizabeth sat down to a lavish ten hour banquet. Many challenged the queen?s right to absolute power. John Knox stated ?Women are unsuited to rule.? Elizabeth made it abundantly clear she would not stand for disobedience. During her reign, Elizabeth enjoyed charming men into agreeing with her views. To insure that her statesmen and courtiers did not take their positions for granted, she alternated between outburst of royal displeasure and displays of humor and warmth. At that point the results for each category were added together to create an average score. The open ended questions were used to determine a general trend for why people choose the diets they consume. RESULTS Quantitative Looking at Figure 1 we see that respondents tended to buy and consume conventional foods (score of 104 out of 120) and organic products (score of 101 out of 120) the most, while home grown, gluten free, and vegetarian/vegan products were bought and consumed significantly less. Similarly in Figure 2, which rates the importance of food choices, respondents drastically preferred organic products (score of 106 out of 120) to all other types of foods. Ninety two percent of participants believed that sustainable food costs more than conventional products, and 64% of participants believed that consuming sustainably should be a mandated practice. However participants had varied responses on who had the greatest influence on sustainable consumption (see Figure 3). At the top, participants rated communities (score of 79 out of 112), legislation/ governments (score of 72 out of 112), and individuals/ households (score of 70 out of 112), while food producers and the general public scored slightly lower. Government is instituted for their protection, security, and benefit, and they have the right to alter or reform it when the public good may require. (CA Const. art. 2, sect. 1) Indeed, the age old maxim that the government is for the people is evident in California s Constitution, and the inception of direct democracy by the early 20th century Progressive movement follows this ideology. The 2nd article of California s constitution includes three forms of direct democracy: the initiative, referendum, and recall. Direct democracy s initiative sounds appealing in theory, but realistically, history has shown that the average voter is incapable of truly assessing the effects and repercussions of these ballot proposals. This is clearly exemplified by Proposition 13, an initiative that, as author Isaac Martin states, became a nationwide symbol of tax revolt (Martin). Proposition 13 essentially set the property tax rate to 1% and stated that the assessed value of homes could not exceed the 1975 76 assessed value. This reduced taxes by about 57% (californiataxdata.com), a truly drastic decrease, which translates to a loss of $7 billion in property taxes during the 1978 79 fiscal year (McCaffery Bowman, 530). Consequently, Proposition 13 led to intense repercussions; the huge decreases in finances forced local agencies to look for funding elsewhere, and severe cuts were made. The Los Angeles Times conducted a survey of 70 southern school districts and found that two thirds of them had eliminated or sharply curtailed summer school. Also, Long Beach school sent layoff notices to nearly half of its staff of teachers, and by June 28th there was a total of 3,252 estimated layoffs with 165,000 imminent layoffs. The repercussions continued, with prices escalating to cover the decline of financing. And ironically, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their experiments took place on anaesthetized cats with microelectrodes inserted into their primary visual cortex, their eyes were also held open allowing the experiment to be conducted. Small spots of light were shone onto the restricted retinal regions which often would cause brisk responses and could be divided into excitatory and inhibitory regions (shown in fig.1). Excitatory areas if illuminated produced an increased frequency of firing compared to inhibitory regions, although both did produce responses. Stationary spots showed that the excitatory and inhibitory regions were aligned side by side within the central responsive area, flanked by antagonistic areas. Light stimulus covering the whole receptive field was practically ineffective in most units due to mutual antagonism between excitatory and inhibitory regions, shown in figure 1 (f). A vertical slit of light was projected, which only covered the excitatory areas and avoided all inhibitory areas, however when turned horizontally, it touched inhibitory areas and responses were dramatically reduced or lost completely. This was due to the stimulation of excitatory areas being smaller than the antagonistic areas that were stimulated and thus responses shielded. The excitatory and inhibitory areas had similar shape and positioning and responded in the same way to directional movement (Hubel and Wiesel, 1959). Simple and Complex Cells ... • 32. Intelligence And Weapons Of Mass Destruction Programs Introduction and Purpose Statement Intelligence has proved to be essential to military actions since antiquity, particularly concerning invasions from a nation s military. Invading Iraq due to the determination of the continued Weapon of Mass Destruction programs in 2003 resulted, in part from intelligence received by human intelligence sources. The specific cause that led to the initial determination to invade was the belief that Iraq maintained a Weapon of Mass Destruction program at the same time also suggesting that Saddam had links to Terror groups. Additionally, the Iraqi Weapon of Mass Destruction Programs during the 1998 inspection from the United Nations led to the assessment of the weapon systems in Iraqi. Consequently, the Iraq war had resulted in thousands dead along including an unstable nation. Inquiries post invasion revealed critical flaws within the intelligence collected. Much of the information provided to the Central Intelligence Agency along with the National Security Council from human intelligence proved to be incorrect. Furthermore, the incorrect information had compounded the issue with a limited network of assets in Iraq to verify the intelligence received. One of the most important intelligence failures of the 21st Century is seen in the invasion of Iraq. How can the review of intelligence collections conducted on pre war Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction programs better determine the faults in intelligence received from human intelligence sources, ... • 33. Similarities Between Coaching And Feedback Feedback versus Coaching: Same or Different? There are similarities between feedback and coaching, and in fact feedback is a part of coaching. Feedback on its own may seem to be a much shorter process of giving comments or advice about something that has or has not happened, and usually ends by someone making suggestions or asking how it could be done better. Coaching adds to feedback by providing a process for change, adding support for commitment to action. How to Provide Feedback Effectively Giving and receiving feedback has long been considered to be an essential skill for managers and leaders. Employees need to know how they are doing as they strive to achieve their organisation s goals. They need to know how they are doing, whether the performance is up to standard, and if not, how they can improve. When improvement is needed, The S/TAR concept provides an effective method for providing feedback about the behaviour or results observed. The approach should also include suggestions or prompts towards how to handle the situation in the future. For example, let s say you observed an employee refusing a request from another department. • 35. Disengagement Theory Research Paper According to the text, there are three types of psychosocial theories of aging the disengagement theory, activity theory, and continuity theory. Disengagement theory proposes that when people age they will gradually withdraw from the world and society. They will become less interested in the world. The reason being is that older people have lower energy levels and are incapable of functioning in a way that is productive and energetic. The activity theory is the contrast of the disengagement theory. The activity theory suggests that aging looks different in different people. Older people who lives an active lifestyle typically maintain that existence; therefore, ages successfully. Whereas, those who lived an inactive lifestyle may age unsuccessfully. For example, my grandmother who has been retired for seven years now stays active by involving herself in volunteer work, joining clubs, and socializing. According to the activity theory, because my grandmother has chosen to remain active, growing older for her will be less futile. Then there is the continuity theory, which is similar to the activity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do not believe that there is one explanation to describe the aging process. To keep it simple, let s check out the main thing you should know about a boat: Buoyancy. Buoyancy, by definition, is the upward force exerted by a liquid on any immersed object. If the force of the liquid on the object is greater than that of the object on the liquid then the object will float. In other words buoyancy is dependent upon the density of the liquid and the volume of the object submerged. Buoyancy: Fb= d*g*V Where Fb= the magnitude of the buoyant force d= density of the liquid, g= force of gravity (9.8 m/s^2), V= volume of the submerged object All object displace fluid when in a liquid, ... It is a massive bird that flies with the greatest of ease. Lets take a look at the casually oversimplified physics behind the flight of a bird. Basically, birds wings are not flat but are shaped like an aerofoil. Air passes over or under the wing as the bird moves forward, or as the wind blows. The air that moves over the top of the wing has further to travel to get across the wing, thus it speeds up. This causes the pressure to drop because the same amount of air is exerting its pressure over a greater area. Therefore, any given point experiences less pressure. This effectively sucks the wing up. Meanwhile the air going below the wing experiences the opposite effect. It slows down, generates more pressure and effectively pushes the wing up. Hence a bird with air moving over its wings is pulled up from above and pushed up from below. Marine Mammals Communication: Whales are amazing mammals on many levels. It was the crown jewel of America s defense and was built at a great expense following the British invasion during the War of 1812 and named after President James Monroe. Fort Monroe was a vital piece in America s defense and history. Fort Monroe also known as Freedom s Fortress is located near Hampton, VA. Which was at that time a small pretty village on the water s edge. In 1860 the town and surrounding county had about 3,100 whites, 2,400 enslaved persons, and 200 free persons of color.
