Cardiovascular Disease Is The Number One Killer
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States, causing about 610,000 deaths
yearly (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Cardiovascular disease is defined as a
group of disorders damaging the heart and blood vessels, usually involving the blockage of vessels,
which in turn harm the heart (WHO, 2015). A 2011 American Heart Association statement predicted
that without intervention, 40% of United States adults will have at least one form of Cardiovascular
disease by 2030. A large portion of these deaths by cardiovascular disease is due to the sedentary
population. To better prevent cardiovascular disease, the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans
Advisory Committee stated that adults should complete about 150 minutes of moderate intensity
physical activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity weekly (Barry, Blair, Church,
Hooker, Sui, Warren, 2010). Research has shown that meeting these recommendations is linked with
lower cardiovascular disease risk, as well as reduced risk of mortality. The Center for Disease Control
and Prevention estimates that only about 20.3% of Americans meet these guidelines. These statistics
show that the majority of the United States population does not get nearly the amount of physical
activity they need. However, even though many people are not doing the recommended amount of
physical activity, this may not mean that they are living a sedentary life. Living a sedentary lifestyle is

Eulogy For Emily
1. The daughter was beautiful and a happy baby. Emily was active, play, and full of life like the other
babies when she was young: She was a beautiful baby. The first and only one of our five that was
beautiful at birth. You do not guess how new and uneasy her tenancy........ She was a beautiful baby.
She blew shining bubbles of sound. She loved motion, loved light, loved color and music and textures.
She would lie on the floor in her blue overalls patting the surface so hard in ecstasy her hands......

pointed it out to Emily, at last, this made, Emily realized her talents. My response and understanding
of the final line in the story: Only help her to know help make it so there is cause for her to know that
she is more than this dress on the ironing board, helpless before the iron (298). Emily s mother is
reflecting on how she will make Emily understand that she loved her like the other children.
Eventually, in the early childhood, Emily missed the parental care because the mother had to leave her
and go to work. Therefore, the daughter thought and knew that the mother does not love or care about.
Thinking of this, the mother wants the daughter to realize that she has value than the dressing

Disadvantages Of Tidal Energy

Tidal Energy
Tidal Energy
Introduction
Climate change refers to any long term change in Earth s climate, or in the climate of a region or city.
This includes warming, cooling and changes besides temperature. (NASA Oct.2011) Earth is going
through the climate change of global warming. Climate change is causing a big threat that would
cause great catastrophe to the world and this problem will influence everyone around the world. These
changes are caused by the greenhouse gases which are produced when burning fossil fuels and
transportation. When fossil fuels are burned, they generate a fair amount of energy for people, but at
the same time, produce large amounts of pollution that damages our Earth. To slow down climate
change, we need to start making changes and shift our sole energy source from burning fossil fuels to
an alternative renewable energy source. While tidal energy is an interesting technology and is capable
of providing us a carbon free society, but it can never generate enough energy to reduce the burning of
fossil fuels because of the massive cost for the project and there is limited places in the world to install
the technology.

Tidal energy is converted based on the movements of tides. Tidal power is the result of Earth s rotation
combined with the sun and moon s gravity. The tides come mostly from the Moon s gravity and a little
from the Sun s gravity. So as the Earth rotates, the ocean surface rises and falls. Compared to nuclear
reserves or fossil fuels, the resource of tidal energy will not run out or end unless the sun and moon
does. Usually, there are two high tides and two low tides each day. With all the water moving up and
down, we can capture the kinetic energy from the tides. It works just like wind turbine except ocean
tides turn the blades instead of wind. (Climate Kids,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
The freedom of information act covers the right of the people to look up information that would be
held by a public body.
All institutions must have a procedure if a member of the public wishes to look for a document ie
enquire through a webpage.
The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 covers public information that falls under the
influence of the Scottish parliament.
The act has a wide reach however there are some documents that cannot be asked for by the public for
example the public cannot look a files from the ministry of defence for the sake of national security.
The act is a controversial one, because most public bodies would prefer to work in secret however
these requests have been turned down by the information commissioner for Scotland who is
responsible in such cases.
There is another act that works similarly to this it is known as the Environmental Information
Regulations 2004 which allows the people to gain information on the environment.

The California Gold Rush Of 1849
The California Gold Rush of 1849 was a very influential event in U.S history. It all started in 1848, in
Coloma, California, when a man named James Marshall (See Appendix A) was working on a sawmill
for a man named John Sutter (See Appendix B). He was working near a river and something caught
his eye. When he went to investigate, he realized that he had discovered pure gold! Marshall wanted to
keep this a secret between him and his boss, but word spread quickly, and eventually the whole world
knew about this discovery thanks to the New York Herald, which was the first newspaper to publish an
article about the Gold Rush. Soon enough, many people started to immigrate to California to see if
they could start a new life, and maybe, get rich. While the Gold Rush had many positive impacts to
the State of California, which included economic benefits, they were not necessarily as a result of the
mining of gold, but opportunities created by the influx of people looking to get rich. The economic
opportunities experienced in the State of California as a result of the gold rush included
manufacturing, trade, merchant business, agriculture, entertainment market, and newly formed banks
and financial institutions ( The Impact of Gold 2014). Also, people from different countries like China
came by ship to see if they could strike it rich. People living on the Eastern side of the U.S only had
two routes that they could follow to California, and both took many months and portrayed terrible

Author Note: This Assignment is being written by Juan Tirado and will be submitted on 8/25/2014 for
instructor Cathy Wilson at Ashford University. Thesis Statement While systemic discrimination plays
a big part of the problem, lack of programs and good education also play its part, even more the bad
outlook that law enforcement agencies have on the communities and it s minorities effects the way
they are able to deal with one and other. Body paragraph #1 Topic Sentence #1 Unfortunately, police
brutality and unfair treatment of minorities continue to occur in the United States. A criminal suspect
whether he/she is minority or not is entitled to humane treatment, no matter how heinous the alleged
crime maybe. Because of these kind of acts you end up seeing situations like the Michael Brown case
and so many other. A. Supporting Evidence The first reason systemic discrimination plays a big part
of the problem is because the communities had come to it breaking point because of all the
misconduct these communities have had to deal with most of their lives and started to act on emotion
rather than trust, a trust that has not been around most of their lives, how can you trust someone or
something that has mistreated you most of your live. Here is one of the first piece of evidence I would
like you to see, Based on the preliminary analysis, Mr. Baden

The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting
The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting, 1989 Some refer to it as The Slaughter in a School Yard,
The Stockton Massacre, and others as The Cleveland Elementary School Shooting. Something as
horrifying as someone shooting down innocent children playing at recesses on school grounds was
never expected here in the United States of America. Although there was past cases of school
shootings, this was the first shooting to be televised on national television of its magnitude (Taining, P
et al., 2014). A mass murderer is defined as someone who slaughters many people at one time. This
particular incident unfortunately was not the slaughter of people, but it was children. It happened
around 11:40 AM on January 17th, 1989 in Stockton, California. A man by the name of Patrick
Edward Purdy opened fire on children ages six through nine playing at recess on school grounds of
Cleveland Elementary School. This tragic case brought questions to people everywhere in our nation
as to why it was so easy for a mentally unstable individual such as Patrick Purdy to enter a gun store
and purchase a semiautomatic weapon ( Slaughter in a, 2001). Patrick Edward Purdy was born
November 10, 1964 in Fort Lewis Washington. His parents divorced at age two. He is described as an
adolescent as quiet but unable to cope with anything. He had a troubled relationship with his mother
and was made to leave his mother s home after an altercation between the two resulting in him hitting

An increasing number of colleges and universities are adopting computer technologies as teaching and
learning tools. Oliver and Wright (2002) reported in the near future technologies may be required for
all students and institutions. As per the study of Roper (2006) and Rice and Miller (2001) Colleges
and universities more and more rely on technology for both business and academic operations. Most
educational institutions have made a significant investment in developing a computing infrastructure
within the institution. Roper (2006) and Lau (2003) described one of the most common challenges for
higher education institutions is dealing with change and the role of technology. Students are feeling
the impact of technology in all areas of the educational experience from recruitment efforts, to
admissions processes, to its use as a teaching tool. Large technological resources are being dedicated
to student recruitment and retention, along with specific promotion efforts to attract better students.

Pros And Cons Of Museum Repatriation Controversy
Museum Repatriation Controversy
Museums are in a showdown with other countries over art, artifacts, and even culture. They are
fighting over repatriation, the return of artifacts and other antiquities. One expert explains, There are
those in favor of repatriation who say it is unethical to keep these artifacts. Others contend that such
artifacts should remain in museums because they are part of a universal human history (Art and
Cultural Repatriation). Having better more fair laws on cultural property and repatriation could lower
looting and increase archeological dig sites to find even more antiquities. The individual country the

Author Svensson of On Craft and Art , believes that by giving back artifacts of cultural importance it
will mean better environments for it to be in, and become a tourist attraction for these countries so
they could get more money. Svensson also thinks that for the indigenous peoples that now have
museums could finally have something to attract more people and promote sharing of the artifacts
between other museums(par. 1). Along with Svensson s ideas there is also a problem with stopping
museums from buying stolen artifacts and refusing to give them back. Henrik Bering noted, The
traditional museum concept of universalism, the British cultural policy adviser Munira Mirza points
out, is now associated with imperialistic values and the theft of other peoples identity, for which there
is said to be only one remedy: to hand back our ill gotten gains (par. 16). Some museums feel it

Improving Health Care Standards Of The United States
It had been found that healthcare quality in the United States is substandard and that the
acknowledgment of needed healthcare varies extensively. While it is recognized that even the most
vigorous accreditation programs will never eliminate all the disputes within medical facilities and
services being accredited; it is vital that steps are taken to ominously improve quality and in doing so
will reduce risk. Pursuing accreditation unveils a pledge to the improvement of quality in health care.
Numerous certifying figures exist in the United States with each having their own particular zone of
application. The Joint Commission is a health care agency known for its superior patient care
standards. It cultivates standards for quality as well as security, than evaluates performance amongst
health care organizations aligned on these principles. In addition, it attempts to augment the effect that
performance measures have on improving health results for patients. The groups that practice quality
care within these guidelines and protocols are issued accreditation for their work in the field of
medicine.
The Joint Commission delivers stability and security to the quality of care being practiced. They have
certain standards which are the root of an objective evaluation method that can benefit health care
organizations through the measurement and monitoring of their achievements. These methods improve

What Is the Role of the Judiciary in a Democracy
Democracy is a system of governance, its origins dates back to Greece and ancient Athens between
421 and 322 B.C. Most Western countries changed their system of governance to a representative
democracy in the 19th century, mostly influenced by liberalism. Democracy, in Greek, means Power
to the People . In this system people vote for their president, choose from different parties. In an
authoritarian state, all powers are in the hand of one person, whereas in a democratic state, different
institutions are in charge of different powers. The government owns the executive, the parliament the

The application of the law may be a bit confused sometimes. For example, does a crime blamed on a
person really correspond to the definition of the crime such as we find it on the law? Are the proofs
given really acceptable? If yes, are the punishments planed by the law adapted with the crime? Those
are the kind of decision that the judge has to take, and it is very important that judges stay independent
from the rest of the government, as it is his main role in the democracy, the impartiality. That is what
we are going to study in the second part. In this second part we will study the role of the judiciary in a
Democracy. First of all, the judiciary is neutral. A judge doesn t show his belonging to any political
parties. He judges the crimes trying to be as neutral as he can. In a democracy this neutrality is very
important as neither the government nor any other parties can affect the judgement. The judiciary is
also independent in most of the countries. It doesn t depend on the executive or the legislative.
However, their collaboration is necessary for the well being of a democracy. The legislative makes the
law that the judiciary will apply on court, but this law needs to be accepted by the judges so they can
apply it in the best conditions. This independency is very important. In fact, the judges don t owe
anything to members of the executive or

Even though Fran became more confident, her costume and makeup still suited her personality. For
example at the Pan Pacific Grand Prix, all of the other female dancers wore bright coloured, revealing
outfits, Fran wore a traditional red Spanish dress. At the end of the film Fran s physical appearance
changed dramatically and so did her confidence. These characters are good examples of how Luhrman
uses costume and makeup to effectively influence the portrayal and development of characters in the
film.
In Strictly Ballroom, Luhrman uses many different camera angles and lighting techniques to
exaggerate scenes, settings and even characters personalities. An example of this is at the start of the
film, when Scott Hastings is dancing by himself in a room, there is a bright, white spotlight on him as
he dances, drawing the audience to watch him. This happens whenever Scott dances and it shows the
audience that Scott has a sense of purity and that he is the protagonist of the film. Luhrman uses low
angle shots when Scott and Fran are dancing at the end of the film, this is a good technique used so the
audience can see them dancing and also gives the audience the impression that they are dominate and
confident. Another character who is a good example of camera angles and film techniques being used
on them to portray their personality is Barry Fife. Barry is a mean character and Luhrman uses dark,
reddish lighting to make him seem evil.

I ll never let go, Jack. I promise. One of the greatest movies of all time stars the best actor ever,
Leonardo DiCaprio. He has obsessive compulsive disorder, but is still one of the greatest actors. If
something was hard, he worked even harder to do it perfectly. Even if his disorder disrupted him and
his fellow co workers, he worked through those difficult times to get the job done. Obsessive
compulsive disorder, also known as OCD, is an anxiety disorder which involves obsessions,
compulsions, and can also consume a person s everyday life (Steketee 1). Compulsions are obsessions
performed into ritualistic behaviors (Parks 11). They can lead a person to have very vicious cycles in
which they are powerless to stop. Obsessions most of the time revolves around fears of germs in
which they avoid using public toilets and touching items. This can get so extreme to where they will
wash their hands so many times their skin will be raw, and they will shower so much their bodies will
start bleeding or chapping (12). There are many symptoms of having OCD. For example, sufferers can
avoid situations that involve obsessions, overestimating harm, and worrying excessively. Sufferers of
OCD can have multiple fears such as hurting loved ones, using sharp objects near people, not counting
high enough which would cause a natural disaster, and throwing items away (12).

Society plays many roles in peoples lives. The biggest role that society plays with females is how they
should appear. All over the television, movies, and different magazine covers, females come into view
as looking very thin and beautiful. People that see these famous females begin to idealize that body
image. The male gender also visualizes these famous females and thinks that all females should have

Society and Eating Disorders by Colleen Thompson and Eating Disorders by Katherine Fox both
discuss the issue of eating disorders due to the way society and the media put the ideal image into a

issue. The last two articles, Perfection The Barbie Body?! written by Julie Hong and Expectations of a

also use social appeal to help the reader better understand how females grow up idealizing an
unrealistic body. All six of these articles were all very informative and well written, even though they
all used different techniques to get their point across. All of the authors used pathos as their main
appeal, but they used it in different forms.
The most important rhetorical technique is ethos, which only two of the different articles used. The
reason ethos is so important is because it tells the reader whether or not the author s information is

My home tastes like sunlight on autumn leaves. Every place has a taste, but I will never forget the
taste of the majesty of the San Juan Mountains.
The first time I laid eyes upon the San Juan Mountains, I couldn t believe that I was only a few miles
away from the cold desert that is Colorado. The further into the rugged mountain range the highway
led me, the more awe and disbelief fell upon me. I felt small, and as if I was the first person to ever
discover those hidden valleys that support entire ecosystems of plants and animals. The scattered puffs
of cloud above me painted shadows along the razor edged peaks, giving an appearance of a mural,
rather than massive chunks of rock carved away by the centuries. I could hear nothing except for the
pounding of far off waterfalls and the whispering of the pines, who shared secrets that nobody but
they would ever know. I felt like an intruder, and yet welcomed. I was lost, but at home.
Around a bend, and out of the blue, there came a town. Even so far from the nearest city, the town was
butsling. Main Street was lined with colorful buildings restored from the Victorian era. A two floor
hotel, elegant even in it s old age, announced its presence at the corner of an intersection. The stout
brick walls stood fortified, defying the valley winds. The occasional house could be seen through the
tightly packed boutiques, shops, and art galleries. One was baby blue and white, another, the color of
dried saffron. Further on down Main Street, natural hot springs revealed themselves. People of every
age packed into the heated pools. A vicious game of volleyball had commenced, and more people
were flocking to the net even in the second it took to drive past. Eventually, the quaint Main Street
ended, and the highway led the car through several switchbacks that twisted up the side of the valley.
At the top, a weather worn sign named the town Ouray , and the sight below was one to behold. Ouray
spread through the bowl formed when rivers and mountains collide, spreading to the edges until not a
shed more could ve been built. But the highway kept leading, and the car kept

Estella Miss Havisham Quotes
Estella may be beautiful, but she s as chilly as Frozone, freezing the hearts of everyone around her
including her adopted mom, Miss Havisham. She s proud and refined as an adult, and beautiful and
self possessed as a child , and for some reason Pip falls desperately in love with her, even though she s
really, really rude.
But we can t hate Estella, either. Can you imagine living in Satis House with a mother who wears her
wedding dress everyday and who only cares that you grow up to break boys hearts? Can you imagine
having to deal with relatives who only want your mother s money? Can you imagine sleeping in that
run down house every night, hearing Miss Havisham s low moaning and mouse like shuffling all over
the floor boards?

Total Quality Management
Total Quality Management
Total Quality Management(TQM) is an organisational process that actively involves every function
and every employee in satisfying customers needs, both internal and external. TQM works by
continuously improving all aspect of work through structured control, improvement and planning
activities that are carried out in concern with guiding ideology that focuses on Quality and Customer
Satisfaction as the top priorities. There has been many arguments that TQM succeeds only by
incorporating a concern about quality for the customers throughout the organisation. The truth of this
statement and those facts that disagree with this statement will be look into and discuss in more detail

When the quality reputation grows, marketing can emphasize increasing customer satisfaction as a
major element in advertising and the other promotions. As Deming wrote in his book Out of the Crisis,
it will not suffice to have customers that are merely satisfied. An unhappy customer will switch.
Unfortunately a satisfied customer may also switch, on the theory that he could not lose much and
might gain. Profit in business comes from repeat customers, customers that can boast about your
product and service, and that bring friends with them. He further stated that we should stay ahead of
the customers. This could be achieved through constant quality improvement and innovations.
Why Do Companies Lose Customers:
Death of Customer 1% Customer Moving Residence 3% Lower Price Elsewhere 5% Unsatisfactory
Handling of Complaints 14% Suppliers Lack of Interest 68%
As shown in the above graph above TQM s success includes the incorporation on quality of the after
sales service and follow up. The quality needed in maintaining a customer will be less as compare to
gaining a new customer. TQM success would therefore not only focus on gaining new customers but
maintaining the current customers, through improvement in quality for customers. Even though the
main concern about TQM is highly focused on the customers, the focus on internal process cannot be

Example Of Art Of Persuasion
Mikiyas Hailemichael Art Appreciation 1301 03/07/2018 Museum Assignment It s pretty clear that art
is one and major part of our life because we experience it in our daily basis. Art is related to who we
are somehow and sometimes words fails to express how art and our lives are interdependent to each
other. I have seen some art galleries a little while ago but now that I have learned all these things I
have completely different point of view towards every single art. I believe that Art is something that
captures the eye. Whether the artist is trying to communicate an emotion, an idea or something else,
the most important thing is how well the audience receives it. However, art can also be shocking,
something new. If a creative piece by an artist can spark the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One example would be the painting of The Shepherd Faustulus Bringing Romulus and Remus to His
Wife. This oil painting made in 1654 shows a father carrying two babies with a shit and handing them
back to his wife. This painting can persuade the viewers that a man is also capable of caring for babies
and it is not just the women s duty to look after babies. Another notable example of art of persuasion,
that is not in the Dallas Museum of Art but that is covered in the text book, would be the Egyptian
sculptures of the pharaoh. The sculpture had a human body with a wild animal face to represent the
personality of that particular god/ess in a symbolic way which symbolizes how powerful and different
the pharaoh is from the general citizen. The sculptures had one leg in front of the other to represent
that the pharaoh leads and to show the mightiness of the Egyptians to the rest of the world. I believe
this sculpture fit best in art of persuasions because it the purpose of this sculpture is to present the
pharaoh as a god to Egyptians and also to shape other civilizations opinion on

The Growing Rate Of Obesity Among The Community
Obesity has been an issue that is been pathologized in the Samoan community.. I am not entirely sure
if the blame is on fast food industries or it has something to do with our unique genes. I grew up in
American Samoa, a small island southwest of Hawaii, and health is not a priority in my community.
One health challenge that I have witnessed while growing up in Samoa is the growing rate of obesity
among the community. According to the World Health Organization records, 95% of the populations
are overweight. Most Samoans depend heavily on western food such as burgers, hot dogs, pizzas, and
other fried food that has been introduced to people s diet. Some people cannot afford organic foods or
vegetables because it is too expensive so they turn to fast food chains since they offer a cheap and
convenient alternative. Being obese in Samoa is normal since more than half of the population fall
under this category. However, that view has changed once western culture become heavily involved in
the Samoan community in regards to cultural and social beliefs.
Before western food was incorporated in American Samoa, people depended on raw food such as taro,
banana, breadfruit, fresh seafood, etc., to survive. They were in built and fit shapes because they
would constantly have to be engaged in subsistence fishing and farming. Since Westernization has
brought fast food, laborsaving devices, and other technological devices, it reduced the incentive for
Samoans to participate in physical

Spiral Into Insanity In Hamlet
Hamlet s Spiral into Insanity
Hamlet s mental health wavers throughout the novel. Questions arise whether he in fact showed
insanity, or if his actions had legitimate reasons. Throughout the play, Hamlet struggles internally and
externally. Externally he wants to expose King Claudius in revenge of Hamlet seniors death.
Internally, Hamlet battles himself, in the sense that he doesn t know how to emotionally pursue the
situation. These factors ultimately lead to his abrupt road to insanity.
Soliloquies play an important role in Hamlet s development as a character. Hamlet expresses himself
with these soliloquies, along with sharing some of his personal struggles. Knowingly, he doubts
himself and his beliefs, often wondering if he makes the right decision. The conflict almost certainly
begins with himself, To be or not to be that is the question: Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the
slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles and, by opposing,
end them (Shakespeare 67). He clearly wants to avenge his father but struggles internally with himself
on how to go about his actions. Hamlet wants to know if all the trouble he goes through, really worth
the struggle.
Hamlet senior s sudden death played an important role in Hamlet s emotional stress. Strong opinions
point to the fact that maybe when the Ghost asked Hamlet to avenge him, it caused a snowball effect
towards Hamlet s insanity. Some believe that the Ghost put an

A Personal Relationship With Jesus
he Origin of a Personal Relationship Concept
Personal relationship with Jesus.
Being an Atheist, I ve had hundreds of arguments with Christians about Jesus and religion in general.
No matter what evidence I provided, the Christian always seemed to bypass it with the Personal
relationship cop out. They would tell me they don t practice religion, and that they have a personal
relationship with Jesus. They would insist that I take five minutes of my time at night and call on
Jesus while I m all alone. Christians believed that Jesus would answer me, and my pathetic life will
never be the same. It dawned on me that they were merely regurgitating what was taught to them by
others. That the Christian didn t really have a personal relationship with Jesus, but a personal
relationship with themselves. Being frustrated with the fact that Christians can actually get away with
not providing substantial evidence, I decided to research the origin of the personal relationship copout.
Who created the concept of a personal relationship? Is the personal relationship copout in the bible?
How old is the concept of a personal relationship? These are the questions that turned on the light bulb
in my head. I just had to research and find out the answers, so here it is.
In the 1200s, St. Gertrude wrote a prayer: let my heart be so united with Thine, that our wills may be
one, and mine in all things be conformed to Thine. That fits the expression personal relationship with

sources of banking and financial services, or more than 50% of small and mediumsized businesses
(SMEs) worldwide lack adequate access to credit.
Despite the India s meteoric GDP growth rate (about 9%), poverty in India is still pervasive;
especially in rural areas where 70% of India s 1.2 billion population live. It is one of the fastest

Culture As Defined By Video Games
Culture as Defined By Video Games In a society, culture has always been defined by the particular
arts, beliefs and customs of that community and formed a representation of what that society has to
offer. Ancient Greece was well known for its achievements in the field of arts and literature with
examples being the Iliad or the tales of Greek gods such as Zeus. Each and every society had a unique
aspect that acted as an equivalent for what their culture meant to them and could be considered a
defining element of that group, and in modern times the advancements in technology have created a
medium that provides both audio and visual stimulations for individuals that can showcase not only
one, but thousands of cultures through the use of video games. These tools can be manipulated to
represent anything the developer wants to address to an audience, such as japanese folklore or the
controversial issue of sameĀ
sex romances in traditional media (Moravec). While some games are
created with the sole purpose of teaching the player about a culture or philosophy that exist in the real
world there are many other games in the world that people believe create their own worlds, their own
cultures the likes of which have never been seen before in history. The argument is questioning
whether or not video games merely reflect cultures that can be found in the real world or if they create
a new culture of their own instead, and if they do what complications arise with this new culture.

Frankenstein Character Analysis
When children trip and fall on the ground, they learn how to get up and avoid falling again. Similar to
this, people adjust to their life situations and learn from their previous mistakes. Frankenstein, by
Mary Shelley, exemplifies this attribute through Victor Frankenstein, who is an intelligent and
hardworking scientist. His curiosity and passion drives him to create life out of death, but he becomes
hubristic and winds up creating a monster. This creation results in Victor s great suffering as it
eliminates his family and friends. The monster makes its intentions clear and Victor is aware of its
supernatural powers. Likewise, Victor realizes that his excessive pride caused all these miserable
outcomes. Despite this, Frankenstein still maintains the same mentality, even after the monster s
warnings and the horrific events. Although Victor seems to have learned from the consequences of
making the monster, he still fails to change from his arrogant mindset since his ego misleads him
towards outcomes that are more dreadful.
Victor notices the patterns of his creature s revenge and understands the damage that it could bring.
After undergoing the murder of his brother William and hearing the monster s narrative, Victor is
aware that the monster is targeting his close family and friends. Moreover, he understands that it has
supernatural abilities as he brought this creature into being and saw its actions. But even with this
knowledge, Victor is still confident in his own ideas

Auditory Hallucinations
Hallucinations can be auditory. The types of auditory hallucinations that people experience vary. Some
people can hear mean voices one telling them to do something wrong and the other telling them not
too. Auditory hallucination can be like a radio talk show so you are hearing the voice, but not an actual
participant in what you are hearing. Another auditory hallucination that is very common is hearing
music and it can be any kind of music. People that experience these types of hallucinations are normal
people like you and me. There are many theories as to why people experience auditory hallucinations
such as a greater activation in the primary auditory cortex, or some think it because we can t recognize
the auditory hallucination as our own.

There is only one island in the world that can lay claim to being the home of two different countries.

Hobbes And Rousseau On The Social Contract Theory
Hobbes and Rousseau on the Social Contract Theory
The social contract theory focuses on the origin of states and laws, and the impact of regulated
communities or states on individuals. All conceptions of the social contract theory can be harmonized
to the individual desire for safety or security and the demand for fulfillment through a collective
agreement which transforms the human dimension into an organized society from the primordial state.
Rousseau was the first philosopher to coin the social contract terminology despite it being recognized
in some Greek philosophers works. Thomas Hobbes, however, is widely acknowledged as the founder
of the social contract theory within western philosophy (Baird, 2011). As a result, the theories of
Rousseau and Locke can be regarded, to some extent, to be based on the disquisitions of Hobbes.
Conversely, Locke and Rousseau have transformed the concept of Hobbes to align with their
perspectives on society and human nature. Hobbes and Rousseau have significant similarities and
differences in their similarities conceptions regarding the social contract theory.
Hobbes argues that man naturally desires security and order. It is the quest for security and
preservation, as well as the need to avoid pain and misery that made man to get into a contract. Self
preservation and protection are widespread in the nature of man and in an attempt to achieve it, man
voluntarily surrendered all his rights and freedoms to the authority through the

Another point of interest that comes from the bible is that humanity has a limited control over nature.
Ecclesiastes 8 12 emphasizes this point; man has a limited ability to control the challenges of earth. It
is ultimately within God s control of the earth that it will continue to flourish and provide. However,
Christians certainly have a responsibility to care for the earth. Christians efforts are not invalidated in
working to keep the earth healthy for nature and the people of the earth, both present and future. The
Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it (Genesis
2:15). It is important for all Christians to try and be helpful in efforts to keep the environment healthy.
Accordingly, Christians should be encouraged to help in any way that they believe to be the most
beneficial to them, and the environment. While the validity of humanity s impact on global warming is
unclear, there are other visible ways that humans impact the environment. Examples of these include
dumping toxic waste, land fill, littering, deforestation, and the pollution of populated areas. Christians
should support the initiatives that they think are most important whether that be helping with cleanups,
education, recycling, research, or other helpful endeavors. In doing so, the negative impact on the
environment from our society and life

positives and negatives to this. These pertain to environment and ocean wildlife, public safety,

The cause of this debate comes with the return of White Sharks to the area. Over the past few years,
there has been an increase of this apex predator to our coasts like never before seen, most notably

  • 2. Cardiovascular Disease Is The Number One Killer Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States, causing about 610,000 deaths yearly (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Cardiovascular disease is defined as a group of disorders damaging the heart and blood vessels, usually involving the blockage of vessels, which in turn harm the heart (WHO, 2015). A 2011 American Heart Association statement predicted that without intervention, 40% of United States adults will have at least one form of Cardiovascular disease by 2030. A large portion of these deaths by cardiovascular disease is due to the sedentary population. To better prevent cardiovascular disease, the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Advisory Committee stated that adults should complete about 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity weekly (Barry, Blair, Church, Hooker, Sui, Warren, 2010). Research has shown that meeting these recommendations is linked with lower cardiovascular disease risk, as well as reduced risk of mortality. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that only about 20.3% of Americans meet these guidelines. These statistics show that the majority of the United States population does not get nearly the amount of physical activity they need. However, even though many people are not doing the recommended amount of physical activity, this may not mean that they are living a sedentary life. Living a sedentary lifestyle is ... My response and understanding of the final line in the story: Only help her to know help make it so there is cause for her to know that she is more than this dress on the ironing board, helpless before the iron (298). The act has a wide reach however there are some documents that cannot be asked for by the public for example the public cannot look a files from the ministry of defence for the sake of national security. • 7. The California Gold Rush Of 1849 The California Gold Rush of 1849 was a very influential event in U.S history. It all started in 1848, in Coloma, California, when a man named James Marshall (See Appendix A) was working on a sawmill for a man named John Sutter (See Appendix B). He was working near a river and something caught his eye. When he went to investigate, he realized that he had discovered pure gold! Marshall wanted to keep this a secret between him and his boss, but word spread quickly, and eventually the whole world knew about this discovery thanks to the New York Herald, which was the first newspaper to publish an article about the Gold Rush. Soon enough, many people started to immigrate to California to see if they could start a new life, and maybe, get rich. While the Gold Rush had many positive impacts to the State of California, which included economic benefits, they were not necessarily as a result of the mining of gold, but opportunities created by the influx of people looking to get rich. The economic opportunities experienced in the State of California as a result of the gold rush included manufacturing, trade, merchant business, agriculture, entertainment market, and newly formed banks and financial institutions ( The Impact of Gold 2014). A criminal suspect whether he/she is minority or not is entitled to humane treatment, no matter how heinous the alleged crime maybe. Because of these kind of acts you end up seeing situations like the Michael Brown case and so many other. A. Supporting Evidence The first reason systemic discrimination plays a big part of the problem is because the communities had come to it breaking point because of all the misconduct these communities have had to deal with most of their lives and started to act on emotion rather than trust, a trust that has not been around most of their lives, how can you trust someone or something that has mistreated you most of your live. • 29. A Personal Relationship With Jesus he Origin of a Personal Relationship Concept Personal relationship with Jesus. Being an Atheist, I ve had hundreds of arguments with Christians about Jesus and religion in general. No matter what evidence I provided, the Christian always seemed to bypass it with the Personal relationship cop out. They would tell me they don t practice religion, and that they have a personal relationship with Jesus. They would insist that I take five minutes of my time at night and call on Jesus while I m all alone. Christians believed that Jesus would answer me, and my pathetic life will never be the same. It dawned on me that they were merely regurgitating what was taught to them by others. That the Christian didn t really have a personal relationship with Jesus, but a personal relationship with themselves. Being frustrated with the fact that Christians can actually get away with not providing substantial evidence, I decided to research the origin of the personal relationship copout. Who created the concept of a personal relationship? Is the personal relationship copout in the bible? How old is the concept of a personal relationship? These are the questions that turned on the light bulb in my head. I just had to research and find out the answers, so here it is. In the 1200s, St. Gertrude wrote a prayer: let my heart be so united with Thine, that our wills may be one, and mine in all things be conformed to Thine. That fits the expression personal relationship with Jesus to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Culture As Defined By Video Games Culture as Defined By Video Games In a society, culture has always been defined by the particular arts, beliefs and customs of that community and formed a representation of what that society has to offer. Ancient Greece was well known for its achievements in the field of arts and literature with examples being the Iliad or the tales of Greek gods such as Zeus. Each and every society had a unique aspect that acted as an equivalent for what their culture meant to them and could be considered a defining element of that group, and in modern times the advancements in technology have created a medium that provides both audio and visual stimulations for individuals that can showcase not only one, but thousands of cultures through the use of video games. These tools can be manipulated to represent anything the developer wants to address to an audience, such as japanese folklore or the controversial issue of sameĀ sex romances in traditional media (Moravec). While some games are created with the sole purpose of teaching the player about a culture or philosophy that exist in the real world there are many other games in the world that people believe create their own worlds, their own cultures the likes of which have never been seen before in history. The argument is questioning whether or not video games merely reflect cultures that can be found in the real world or if they create a new culture of their own instead, and if they do what complications arise with this new culture. Likewise, Victor realizes that his excessive pride caused all these miserable outcomes. Despite this, Frankenstein still maintains the same mentality, even after the monster s warnings and the horrific events. Although Victor seems to have learned from the consequences of making the monster, he still fails to change from his arrogant mindset since his ego misleads him towards outcomes that are more dreadful. Victor notices the patterns of his creature s revenge and understands the damage that it could bring. After undergoing the murder of his brother William and hearing the monster s narrative, Victor is aware that the monster is targeting his close family and friends. • 39. Hobbes And Rousseau On The Social Contract Theory Hobbes and Rousseau on the Social Contract Theory The social contract theory focuses on the origin of states and laws, and the impact of regulated communities or states on individuals. All conceptions of the social contract theory can be harmonized to the individual desire for safety or security and the demand for fulfillment through a collective agreement which transforms the human dimension into an organized society from the primordial state. Rousseau was the first philosopher to coin the social contract terminology despite it being recognized in some Greek philosophers works. Thomas Hobbes, however, is widely acknowledged as the founder of the social contract theory within western philosophy (Baird, 2011). As a result, the theories of Rousseau and Locke can be regarded, to some extent, to be based on the disquisitions of Hobbes. Conversely, Locke and Rousseau have transformed the concept of Hobbes to align with their perspectives on society and human nature. Hobbes and Rousseau have significant similarities and differences in their similarities conceptions regarding the social contract theory. Hobbes argues that man naturally desires security and order. It is the quest for security and preservation, as well as the need to avoid pain and misery that made man to get into a contract. Another point of interest that comes from the bible is that humanity has a limited control over nature. Ecclesiastes 8 12 emphasizes this point; man has a limited ability to control the challenges of earth. It is ultimately within God s control of the earth that it will continue to flourish and provide. However, Christians certainly have a responsibility to care for the earth. Christians efforts are not invalidated in working to keep the earth healthy for nature and the people of the earth, both present and future. The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it (Genesis 2:15). It is important for all Christians to try and be helpful in efforts to keep the environment healthy. Accordingly, Christians should be encouraged to help in any way that they believe to be the most beneficial to them, and the environment. While the validity of humanity s impact on global warming is unclear, there are other visible ways that humans impact the environment. Examples of these include dumping toxic waste, land fill, littering, deforestation, and the pollution of populated areas.
