Optical Disc and Hd Dvd
Disruptive and transformational technologies typically appeal to segments of the market that are
undeserved, and not to the main stream of the market (Shane, 2009). These technologies have the
ability to make traditional tools and processes obsolete virtually overnight. In this paper I use Netflix
as an example of a disruptive technology and Toshiba NEC s HD DVD as transformational
technology. I begin with a discussion of disruptive technology. Afterwards, I will speak on the success
of Netflix; explain the disruptive and shifting technology created once it sustained itself in the market.
I then provide a review of transformational technology and explain the transformational change to HD
DVD and the failure to capture and sustain a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In August of 2002, Toshiba NEC proposed the next generation optical disc format HD DVD
(Williams, 2008). HD DVD (High Definition/Density DVD) transformed the way we view digital
media in the early 2000 s. It was predicted that the HD DVD would be the successor to the standard
DVD format.
As the creator of the successor to the standard DVD format, Toshiba created a paradigm shift phasing
out the standard DVD which played at 704 pixels by 480 pixels and introduced HD DVD which plays
at 1920 pixel by 1080 pixels ( The difference between, ). The HD optical disk held up to 15GB on a
single side and produced a crisp picture for in home entertainment. The HD DVD Promotion Group
was a group of manufacturers and media studios formed to exchange thoughts and ideas to help
promote the format worldwide (Rapid Response Team, 2006).
With marketing and management Toshiba convinced companies such as Paramount Pictures,
Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO and New Line Cinema to announce support for the
HD DVD format. This shift in technology, with the help of HDTV, moved in home entertainment to
new heights. Toshiba NEC were able to capitalize on the market meeting the needs of the PC industry
driven optical drive business and the next generation DVD media ( Toshiba and nec, 2002). As
Toshiba NEC and its supporters pushed

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Hallucinations Essay
INTRODUCTION
Hallucinations are one of the most intriguing secrets of the mind, which are characterized by false
visions, sounds, taste, smell, and touch that can occur when one is awake; it has a sufficient sense of
reality, but one has no control over it. Hallucinations are the form of perception. There is no particular
part of the brain that is involved in hallucinating. For example, people seeing faces could have a
hyperactivity in fusiform face area involved in facial recognition. People with hyperactivity in the
auditory cortex might experience auditory hallucinations: hearing music, or voices, that are not there.
Hallucinations can be frightening, strange, or even amusing and divine. There are numerous causes of
hallucinations: they are usually experienced by people with schizophrenia, Charles Bonnet syndrome,
Parkinson s disease, or other psychological and mental disorders. However, hallucinations can also be
experienced by healthy individuals, who are the subjects for studying the nature and causes of
hallucinations, as they do not interact with other symptoms like in patients with schizophrenia.
Researchers use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans to track the brain activities
during hallucinations. The aim of this research paper is to describe several types of hallucinations,
ways of studying hallucinations, and possible treatments.
DISCUSSION
1. Emotional hallucinations Hallucinations do not have to be vivid; one of the most

Parent Child Dynamics Essay
Parent Child Dynamics: Self Perception
Many adolescence face difficulties when entering into new group environments, such as school, social
groups, extracurricular groups, etc. It has been discovered that the family environment has a great
impact on the confidence of an adolescent, the family being the child s first group. It is difficult to
pinpoint one specific trigger causing low self esteem within groups, as hereditary factors play an
important role. It has been found that a discouraging family environment effects one s self confidence
within a larger group. The way in which a child is treated at home reflects the way he or she sees
themselves and their position within other groups. Furthermore, the way in which a parent views their
child is the way in which a child may view themselves when they are among others in groups outside
of the family. These findings support my initial hypothesis that a parent who views their child
negatively will then cause the child to view him or herself in the same negative way among others in
social groups outside of the home.
I would like to research the way in which a parent s view of their child affects the child s self
confidence in other groups. There is much existing research on the topic of parent child dynamics and
their effect on the child s personality development. In Parent Child Socialization, Gary W. Peterson
and Boyd C. Rollins (1987) write: In family interaction, complex sets of meanings are learned that

3rd Crusades Dbq
The 3rd Crusade, also known as the King s Crusade, began in the year of 1189 and ended in 1192.
This crusade is considered as one of the most successful crusades. The aim of the 3rd Crusade was to
recapture Jerusalem, commonly regarded as the Holy Land, from the Muslims. Saladin, the ruler of
the Muslims, was the sole enemy in this military campaign.
The Crusade originally began due to a religious passion by both King Henry II of England and King
Philip II of France. They agreed to end their conflicts with each other in order to lead a new crusade.
However, in 1189, Henry died, leaving the role of Leader of the Crusades to his successor, King
Richard I of England. King Richard I of England was also known as Richard the Lion Heart, due to
his skills as a warrior and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did this primarily by imposing a tax upon all the classes, known as the Saladin tithe. He would also

Holy Land, leaving in May 1189, with an army of over 20 000. While crossing the Saleph River on
June 10, 1190, Barbarossa drowned in the waters. After his death, most of his army returned to
Germany. On July 4, 1190, Richard and Philip met and set out for the Holy Land. In May of 1191,
Philip of France arrived at the city of Acre. Richard arrived soon after and began to supervise the
construction of weapons to assault the city. The city was captured on July 12, 1191. Due to
disagreement over the ownership of the newly conquered city, Philip, who was in poor health, left
with his army in August, leaving all but 10 000 soldiers behind. Soon after taking control of Acre,
Richard took Jaffa, which was necessary to do before attempting an attack on Jerusalem. In November
of 1191, the Crusaders advanced towards Jerusalem. At this point, Muslim morale in Jerusalem was so
low, that an attack by the Crusaders would

Immigration Editorial On Immigration
Immigration Editorial
On March 6, 2017, President Trump released the revised Executive Order 13769, Protecting The
Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States. This order blocks immigrants coming
from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and Sudan from entering the U.S for 90 days. In addition, it
closes the entry to all refugees for 120 days and reduces the number of refugee admissions to only
50,000. The order links a connection to terrorism, particularly to the attack on September 11, 2001.
The intention of the order, as stated in the Executive Order, is to protect the American people from
terrorist attacks by foreign nationals admitted to the United States. This policy is implemented in an

Without these brave generations of immigrants who had risked themselves to travel to our shores, our
nation simply would not be the successful country that it has been today. According to the American
Immigration Council, immigrants create job and business opportunities, increase the wages of native
born workers, and boost the economy in America.
President Trump says the goal of this Executive Order is to provide protection and security for our
country. However, the nationalities that he selected on his ban list have not killed a single person in
the U.S. According to the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the nationalities that were involved with
the attack of September 11, 2001 were Saudis, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Lebanon. Based on
this evidence, the travel ban will not make America safer; therefore, the Executive Order doesn t serve
its true purpose.
The U.S Government will need to do more than just extreme vetting and restricting certain
nationalities from coming to U.S soil to keep America safe. He will need to unite and persuade the
people in America and around the world that having the freedom of religion and tolerance surpass
jihad. Most importantly, we should welcome refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution
instead of denying them. Our country will need more allies than it has now, so preventing potential
allies won t make this country any safer.

How Teachers Reinforce The Kiddos For Good Behavior
In the classrooms I am observing I have noticed many ways in which teachers reinforce the kiddos for
good behavior. Each teacher has their own rewards system. I have witnessed a rainbow chart, a marble
system and a stick chart. I have also noticed that many of the teachers do multiple activities with a
lesson in hopes that the information will reach the kiddos long term memory. The teachers use verbal
lessons, hands on activities and written reflections. Each class has their rules and what is considered
appropriate behavior. It has been interesting to see how each teacher rewards their students and how
they make it known what is and isn t okay for the students to do.
Two of the teachers I work with a lot have a very good rewards system going as a way of reinforcing
good behavior. The first teacher uses a rainbow chart and when the students get to the top they get to
choose a prize from the bucket. The other teacher uses a marble system. Each table and student has the
chance to gain marbles along with the class as a whole. If students are listening and behaving they
may get marbles to put in their tables container. If the whole class is doing an awesome job, the
marbles get put into the classes jar. When the students get enough marbles their table gets a prize or
reward of some sort, positive reinforcement. The kiddos get so excited when they get a prize. Negative
punishment is used when they are misbehaving. The students can also get marbles taken out of their
tables jar and

Media s Role in Liberal Democracies
The basic elements in a liberal democracy are regular elections, a parliament exercising control over
government within law and individuals freedoms such as free debate, freedom of association and the
right to protest (Carter Stokes, 2002).
Regular elections should include competitiveness among parties to keep elections fair and voters
should be aware of their interests. Additionally, as Carter and Stokes (2002) state that there should be
a parliament that can exercise control over the government and all this happens within a frame work of
the rule of law (p.10).
A liberal democracy should include extensive freedoms of speech, press (all media properties),
association, movement, thought and belief, assembly and protest, and language ... Show more content

Press should be careful to present complete and just information in order to maintain the public trust.
One example is from New York Times (3 May 2003) that journalist Jayson Blair had made up
interviews and stories, he was fired at the moment in an attempt to protect the integrity of the paper
(Street, 2011, p.53).
The love of propaganda of our days negatively affect news presentation in a way it manipulates and
derives new information or selects information in favor of some particular groups.
Investigating government power or political activity is another contribution that news can make to
democracies. In other words this function can be described as maintaining politicians honesty. This
provides the public to be aware of their politicians activities so people can make sound choices and
rational decisions. In countries with non liberal regimes, journalism cannot fulfill its investigative
duties, serving to their political masters. Hutton (2008) claims that in China, journalists and editors
receive daily instructions on what may or may not be reported (p.134).
Journalists duty to serve the public includes investigating and gathering information by means of
having connections and resources who mostly disguise themselves for the sake of remaining hidden.
The excuse for keeping secret is either some activity is swept under the carpet or have some
externalities result into affecting many. The journalists ability to investigate has

Trasformations By Anne Sexton
Anne Sexton was an American poet, known for her highly intimate and sometimes even controversial
writing style. She started writing poetry in 1952 after being advised to do so by her psychiatrist, whom
she has been meeting to address her recessing mental health. In one of the collections, called
Trasformations, Sexton re tells Grimm s Fairy Tales in her own unique confessional style, often using
the absurdity of these stories to expose flaws and complexity of the surrounding world. By slightly
mocking the themes of the fairytales, Sexton succeeds in making us question what is underneath their
perfect facades. I would like to concentrate onto her re tell of Cinderella and how it differs from the
Brothers Grimm s version.

shows us that Sexton views story of Cinderella as yet another of those tales. This rags to riches motif
is not displayed so evidently in the Grimm s version so we can regard this introductory as very

Mustang Film
Known as the most European of the Middle Eastern nations, Turkey is seen as the more liberal of the
Islamic states. Influences from Europe, as well as rapid urban development have given rise to a firmer
stance on women s rights. Still, there is a wide gap between men and women in Turkey, especially in
more rural areas where values are more conservative. In the Turkish film Mustang, director Deniz
Gamze Erguven, comments on how women in Turkey are still not equal. Mustang tells the story of
five sisters, but their narrative is melodramatic. The director uses the film as a feminist vehicle;
however she does so with melodrama. As the film progresses, the story becomes more melodramatic
so that the viewer pays attention to the issues Turkish women face. In the beginning of the film, the
grandmother has the power over the girls; however she quickly loses it. Her son Erol quickly takes
control over the girls lives. For example, in the fight that sparks the girls getting a pregnancy test the
grandmother fights back against Erol only to concede with his wishes. Despite being the parent and

Thank you, you say, looking up. When you turn, however, you realize a new problem. The premium

There are several different components that make up a hybrid car. These are:
· A Gasoline Engine endash; The gasoline engine on a hybrid car is quite similar to a typical car s
engine. The difference between a typical gasoline engine and a hybrid s gasoline engine is that a
hybrid s engine contains different technology that reduces emissions, and it is also much smaller.
· A Fuel tank endash; Just like a typical car, the fuel tank is a large storage device for the gasoline that
powers the engine. Gasoline is much denser than batteries. 1,000 pounds of batteries store about as
much as one (seven pounds) gallon of fuel.
· An Electric motor endash; This is the part of the vehicle that makes it a hybrid. Advanced electronics
give the motor the ability to act as a generator and also power the transmission. When powering the
vehicle, the motor will draw energy from a battery when need be. When it is a generator, the motor
returns energy to the same batteries that were used to power the motor.
· A Generator endash; On some hybrids (mostly series hybrids), a separate generator is used to return
energy to the battery or power the electric motor and allow the battery to rest.
· The Batteries endash; Like the fuel tank stores the energy for the gasoline engine, the batteries store
the energy for the electric motor.
· A transmission endash; A hybrid s transmission performs the same basic

What Does It Mean To Own Something Analysis
What does it mean to own something? An individual may own something that has more significance
to the item than meets the eye. This subject has encouraged prominent thinkers to learn more about the
idea. This has entered a very fascinating way of thinking that has even perplexed the astounding minds
of Plato, Aristotle, and Jean Paul Sartre. This is why owning something has more significance than
may be thought, tangible goods are detrimental to a person s character, ownership of tangible goods
helps to develop moral character, and ownership extends beyond objects to include intangible things
as well. To begin, Plato supports the thought that having ownership of anything was detrimental. Plato
heavily believed in Christian thought, and this is what shaped his biases of ownership. In summary,
true Christians had no possessions and were poor; they did not require such petty things to make them
happy when they had God in their lives. Plato s quote directly supports this, No human thing is of
serious importance. This gave the idea that owning anything would be considered greedy, or in some
extreme cases, blasphemy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An explanation of the physiology of two named body systems in relation to energy metabolism in the
body. (P4)
In this assignment I will be explaining the physiology of two named body systems in relation to
energy metabolism in the body, the Respiration system and the Digestive system. I will start off by
giving a definition of energy metabolism in the body. Metabolism in the body is a collection of
chemical reactions that takes place in the body s cells. Metabolism converts the nutrients in the food
that we eat in to essential energy which is needed to power all that we do, from something as little as
thinking to growing physically or carrying out a physical activity. In our body s, there are a specific

Discuss the role of energy in the body (M1)
In our bodies we need energy so that we could do things that are possible such as move our muscles,
talk and all the other things that we do. Without energy all humans would be useless not being able to
do anything. Energy is needed to extract the oxygen from the areas in our bodies and diffuse it into our
bloodstream. Supplying enough energy to support the functions of the body in a daily basis is one of
the main reasons for food. This energy comes from the fats, carbohydrates, and proteins in the food
you eat. Of the three, fat is the most concentrated source of energy. Energy requirements are normally
put in terms of calories. The energy requirement for a person is spilt into two parts: basal metabolic
requirements and energy required for activity. Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the heat taken from the
body at rest when temperature is normal. An average person requires 2000 2500 Calories per day
while the difference for a large man doing heavy work may require up to 6000 Calories per day. When
you choose foods that have more energy, or Calories than you need, the excess energy is stored as fat
in the body which will results in putting on some weight. If too little food is eaten to meet energy
demands, the body s stored fat serves as an energy source and this will result in weight loss. Your
weight stays about the same if the energy from food matches the energy requirements of the body. As

Renaissance Dance Pros And Cons
Dance in the Renaissance Era is an era that is very intriguing but also very amazing because we can
see where dance really started and how it has evolved over time since the Renaissance Era. Although
the Renaissance is a very interesting era to examine it is also made clear what a hard era this was for
dance but also a great era for dance. I feel that within the Renaissance dance era there are a lot of pros
and cons as dance wasn t necessarily appreciated in this time and was seen as something that was
more dark and associated with death. As time went on this did change and dance truly became
something within this era for several different reasons. For me, I think this era is so great because of

In the Baroque time there were quite a few dancing masters but the dancing master that stood out to
me for the time I am focusing on was John Playford (1623 1686). He published The English Dancing
Master in 1651 which provided information on 105 English country dances. (Sue, Norma. Baroque
Dancing Master and Dances. ) Through this period there were many great dancing masters and
manuals. Although this was very important in this time the technique and movement of this era is
where my real focus lies. Within this era there were 5 selected dance steps that were always used and
then put together into a sequence. The 5 steps are; demi coupe, coupe, pas de bourree, temps de
courante and the minuet step. All of these steps were then put together and you had do them and in a
faster manor which was hard because you aren t familiar with the steps but it is a step you know but it
seems harder when put into a different sequence to different music. The steps in the Baroque time
were very interesting but the movement qualities are something that would be very hard to adjust to as
this is something that has evolved and changed over time as dance has also got more difficult over
time. The movement qualities of include low legs, vertical movements, weight primarily on the ball of
one foot, relaxed toes, 90 degree turnout and fluttering embroideries of arms and legs. (Sue, Norma.
Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) From this we can see how the movement qualities are very
different from what we do now as the toes would very be relaxed because we now practice a full
pointe at all times and we also now practice 180 degree turnout and you don t even really see 90
degree turnout anymore as everyone strives to have that perfect turnout. Although these movement
qualities have changed it is quite

Persuasive Essay On The History Of Torture Genius
ith the technological advances in the field of neuroscience many neurologists concluded that there is

Many of those setbacks can be contributed by feeling of isolation by the tremendous abilities they
produced. For example Vincent Van Go, brilliant artisan, chopped part of his ear to a prostitute he had
fallen in love with. He stated briefly in his journal that he could not find a compatible person due to
his artisan skills affecting his social life. Counter Argument Although there has been many factual
evidence to support this evidence, many of the opposing sides argue that not all mentally ill are
genius, and/or not all genius are mentally ill. Although this is true, neuroscience have proven while the

Compare And Contrast Greek And Persian Wars
Luke Kania
World Civilization
September 18, 2017
The Greek and Persian Wars The Greek and Persian Wars were key events to making Greece one of
the most advanced and revered countries of its time. Although some city states of Greece were
conquered, two of them stood out to hold off Persia from taking over. These city states were Athens
and Sparta. In 491 BC King Dareios of Persia sent roughly 25,000 soldiers to key states of Greece
(Brown, 1). King Dareios s was looking to just gain a foothold in Greece so that he could soon send a
lot more troops and supplies there. Naxos was the first place that the Persians took over. Luckily, the
people of Naxos quickly fled out of their city unharmed when they realized that the Persians were
coming. The Persians continue to easily take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, the Athenian soldiers and some of the people of Euboia who did not want to surrender scurried
back to Athens. The Persians vigorously attacked the rest of the people in Euboia ending in many lives
being lost on both sides and the enslavement of the remaining survivors (Souza, 30).
Furthermore, the Persians next move was to gain ground in Attika by navigating through the Euboian
Straight and docking at the Bay of Marathon (Brown, 3). Here they would have access to a lot of
resources and have enough room to deploy their army. However, Athens did not want the Persians just
walking in on their territory and doing what they want. So, Athenian generals encountered the Persians
right when they arrived. An Athenian army of only 9,000 people conjugated along with 600 more from
their ally Plataia (Souza, 30). They marched to a place where they could oversee the road that goes
from Marathon to Athens (Souza, 31). Here they could tell if the Persians try to attack and take over
Athens. It was a very strategic move and kept the Persians from moving right in. In the meantime,
Athens sent out a

Compare And Contrast Mental Health And Paramedic
Introduction
This report will look at two different professions, a Mental Health Nurse and a Paramedic. This report
will look at the different registrations, codes of conduct and more. As both professions work for the
NHS, it will be interesting to see the difference between roles, responsibilities and how each
profession becomes fully trained.
A professional is a member of a disciplined group, who must stick to certain ethical standards. They
will be skilled and competent in their line of work; this will be there way of income rather than a
hobby or volunteering.
Paramedic Mental Health Nurse
A Paramedic is a professional who works within the healthcare industry; they work alongside
Ambulance Technicians, other Paramedics, Doctors and Nurses. They work on the frontline and are
called out to any emergencies, where they can work with the Fire Brigade and Police depending on the
emergency. Paramedics are usually first on the scene and give emergency treatment until handed over
to the relevant department. (Health Careers, 2017) A Mental Health Nurse also works within the
healthcare industry, however they are mostly based in a hospital setting or out within the community.
They can work in a psychiatric ward or visit patients at home. A Mental Health Nurse can work
alongside, Psychologists, Social workers and other therapists. Unlike a Paramedic, a Mental Health
Nurse has more one to one time with patients. This can help build relationships with their patients and

by myself for the first time. One day, my father was going to give me a bath since my mother was
busy on the phone. However, right when I was about to take off my clothes, my father had a business
call too. He told me to hold on, as he went into the other room. Anyhow, I really wanted to take a bath

to home, so that is why I am choosing to go to one of those three.
1. Where do you want to live when you move out on your own? 1. I do not mind living here in New

Gender Roles In The Sun Also Rises Robert Cohn
Gender Translation During the post war modernism era writers portray the gender compound in
interesting and unique ways. The book follows a group of Americans as they travel around Europe
soon after World War One. In Ernest Hemingway s masterpiece The Sun Also Rises the narrator, Jake

gender traits juxtapose each other throughout the novel. Jake Barnes masculinity shifts multiple times

Cohn is a notorious American writer but he still shows his insecurity. One of the reasons for his
insecurity is that Cohn is one of the few men in the story who is revealed to not be a veteran of the
war. Cohn also experienced a lot of racial discrimination as a Jew when he went to Princeton
(Hemingway, 12). To compensate for his self consciousness, he became the middleweight boxing
champion of Princeton (Hemingway, 11). Despite his athletic achievements, Cohn is still portrayed as
feminine. His first wife left him before he could leave her and the next woman he had a relationship
with was very forceful and she treated Cohn as a careless possession (Hemingway, 13). The woman,
whose name is Frances, took advantage of Cohn s insecurities and she used them to dominate, not
letting him look at another woman (Hemingway, 13). Cohn s weakness for women causes him to

Conflicting Styles Of Parenting Styles
Conflicting Styles of Parenting Parents will treat their children the way they see fit. In the
authoritarian parenting style, there is no room for freedom. In permissive parenting, there can be more
freedom than the children know what to do with. Authoritative parenting combines the gist of both of
the other styles and allows both freedom and structure. Both authoritarian and permissive styles have
components that authoritarian parents see as productive methods if used properly. Many people
associate authoritarian parenting with Asians. They often produce the people considered to be the
smartest in our society. But authoritarians do not always produce children who are the best at
something. Often times they are strict and shelter their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this is an honorable reason, the way in which it is carried out is questionable. There are
ways to have structure, but also show love at the same time. In many Asian cultures around the world
success is not an option; it is a requirement. According to one Asian mother, Amy Chua, Chinese
parents believe that their kids owe them everything (221). They do not expect their children to pay
them back for every cent they put into their educations or activities, but they see their
accomplishments as their payback. She says, Chinese children must spend their lives repaying their
parents by obeying them and making the, proud (Chua 221). These parents demand success because
that is their way of feeling successful in their own field of study children. Authoritarian parents want
what is best for their children and they believe strict rules and harsh consequences is the way to
accomplish it. My father grew up with permissive parents. They were not necessarily carefree, but
they did not provide the structure and authority that is needed in a household. When asking my dad
about his childhood, he reminisces on many fun and reckless activities that he did with the
neighborhood children. Some of these activities include feeding Alka Seltzer tablets to seagulls and
watch them blow up in the air. He was frequently sent to the principal s office and paddled because of
his terrible behavior in school.

The Differences Of The Black Widow And Wonder Woman
There are obvious similarities between Black Widow and Wonder Woman, but the differences are
striking in two specific ways. One being their background and the other being their difference in
powers. The Black Widow has no powers unlike Wonder Woman, and was raised to be a top notch spy
giving her that superhero appeal. However, despite that, both women are seen as amazing Icons in the
comic industry.
Wonder Woman has also have had a very different background from Black Widow, growing up in the
Amazon rather than being an orphan growing up with the Soviet military. The Black Widow and
Wonder Woman are also in different comic companies, Black Widow in Marvel and Wonder Woman
in DC. Despite their differences, both superheros are seen as iconic women in the comic industry.
Their intelligence as individuals are seen as an inspiration to different types of women around the
world. Which creates a powerful movement of women across the nation. If not just for their
intelligence, both Wonder Woman and the Black Widow are in the well known groups Justice League
and the Avengers. In the original series for both women the Black Widow and Wonder Woman are the
first females to part take in those groups. With the empowerment that is sparked on women all across

Leader Vs. The Face Of Followers
When I was doing research for my book Captivate, I wanted to discover why and how people make

important part of this. The question is, how accurate are they? Before digging into the science, I
decided to ask my twitter followers how accurate they think their first judgement of people is.

What s interesting about that is that it is very close to what the research shows. Studies have found
that, on average, our first impressions of people are 76% accurate. When it comes to first impressions

The faces of introverts and extroverts slightly mimic the way they interact with the world. Typically,
introverts are quiet and reserved unless they are in situations that bring out their most outgoing side.
Likewise, the introverted face looks like it is not engaged with the world and has neutral features.
On the other hand, the extroverted face on the right features a smile and is gazing forward. They look
ready to spark up a conversation, a state that extroverts are constantly in.
The Face of a Leader vs. the Face of a Follower judgement Facial structure plays a huge role in who
we respect as leaders. The image on the right is an example of a highly dominant face. Its brows,
jawline, and cheekbones are strong set and it makes the person with the face look like they are
prepared to go to battle.
Contrastingly, the other face is seen as having low dominance because its features are more wide eyed,
soft, and vulnerable traits that are not stereotypically associated with leaders.
In my book, Captivate, I ll teach you my triple threat strategy to make a killer first impression that
earns people s trust, demonstrates your competence and establishes you as a leader the moment you

During Mandela s time the Black people in South Africa were being treated in much the same way as

Mandela was perfectly aware of this. In the movie it is shown that Mandela conducts rallies and

getting the public angry; educating them on what was really happening to them. Just like Mandela the

Jung And Freud As Unscientific
Although many psychologists dismiss the theories of Jung and Freud as unscientific, they are very
well known and highly influential. Why do you think this is?
Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud are two of the most well known psychologists due to both their
contributions to psychology that are still relevant today and also the controversial nature of their work.
Many psychologists believed that their work was not scientific and therefore not useful in psychology.
For example, Freud s theories are considered unfalsifiable because they cannot be proved or
disproved, which is mainly due to the abstract concepts that cannot be measured objectively. There
was a subjective nature to their work, which had little empirical evidence to support it. However,
many of Freud and Jung s original theories and ideas are highly influential and have practical
implications in the present day, despite their lack of a scientific approach.
One of the main implications of Freud s work was the development of psychoanalysis, which was
considered unscientific as any evidence supporting its success was based on self report data and not on
scientific evidence. In addition, any evidence that did regard psychoanalysis as a successful treatment
of mental illness did not suggest that it was any more successful than other treatments.
Freud approached mental illness in a whole new way, considering the possibility that mental illness
was not purely physiological but that mental illnesses had a psychological basis

Fidel Castro Influence
Fidel Castro is one of most famous communist dictators that ruled Cuba from 1959 to 2008 and made
Cuba the first communist country in the Western hemisphere. Castro is most known for his time in
power where the relations between Cuba and the U.S. were completely severed, which caused a
complete trade embargo between the two countries and almost resulted in nuclear war during the
Cuban Missile Crisis. Some scholars believe that Castro always sought out good relations with the

Also, in Castro s speech History Will Absolve Me, Castro already developed and laid down five

Castro s writings in 1953 matched his writings later on about his formative years. This shows that in

The Traversal Of The Infinite
Finiteness has to do with the existence of boundaries. Intuitively, we feel that where there is a
separation, a border, a threshold there is bound to be at least one thing finite out of a minimum of two.
This, of course, is not true. Two infinite things can share a boundary. Infinity does not imply
symmetry, let alone isotropy. An entity can be infinite to its left and bounded on its right. Moreover,
finiteness can exist where no boundaries can. Take a sphere: it is finite, yet we can continue to draw a
line on its surface infinitely. The boundary , in this case, is conceptual and arbitrary: if a line drawn on
the surface of a sphere were to reach its starting point then it is finite. Its starting point is the boundary,

The second thesis is that every substance is made up of simpler substances. The two mathematical
antinomies relate to the infinite. The answer to the first is: Since the world does not exist in itself
(detached from the infinite regression), it exists unto itself neither as a finite whole nor as an infinite
whole. Indeed, if we think about the world as an object, it is only logical to study its size and origins.
But in doing so, we attribute to it features derived from our thinking, not affixed by any objective
reality.
Kant made no serious attempt to distinguish the infinite from the infinite regression series, which led
to the antinomies. Paradoxes are the offspring of problems with language. Philosophers used infinite
regression to attack both the notions of finiteness (Zeno) and of infinity. Ryle, for instance, suggested
the following paradox: voluntary acts are caused by wilful acts. If the latter were voluntary, then other,
preceding, wilful acts will have to be postulated to cause them and so on ad infinitum and ad nauseam.
Either the definition is wrong (voluntary acts are not caused by wilful acts) or wilful acts are
involuntary. Both conclusions are, naturally, unacceptable. Infinity leads to unacceptable conclusions
is the not so hidden message.
Zeno used infinite series to attack the notion of finiteness and to demonstrate that finite things are
made of infinite quantities of ever smaller things. Anaxagoras said that there is no smallest

Healthy Food Stamps
All across America there are people living with obesity because they can t afford to buy healthier
foods. In a world of health conscious, and green people healthy foods have become a luxury not
necessarily a necessity. For the people who are beneficial enough to buy healthy foods, it might seem
like a necessity. The green people who buy organic products which cost even more don t see an issue
with the cost, however, there s people all across the USA who would like to eat healthier but they can t
because they can t afford it. For impoverished people on food stamps who live in lower class
neighborhoods, they don t have access to a lot of grocery store chains. It s also easier for impoverished
people to buy a larger amount of food rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Have you ever eaten taco s or a salad and you re hungry 2 hours later? For the same price you paid for
the taco s or salad, you could ve bought something with more substance that would have made you
feel full until your next meal. When you re hungry again you probably think that it s too soon to eat a
meal again so you munch on some snacks. If you re busy doing something else you probably wouldn t
realize just how much you re actually eating and before you knew it an entire bag of chips are gone,
you re still hungry and it s still not the time for your next meal. The goal for impoverished families is
quantity, not quality. The goal is to have enough food for everyone in the house. When they choose

Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice Essays
Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice
Killing, kidnapping and battles, all parts of Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice. The main character,
Lestat, is a well known and flamboyant vampire. In Memnoch the Devil, Lestat is faced with a grim
reality, causing his world to collapse around him. He learns throughout this book, about the world, and
the divine forces that encircle the world s existence. This book illustrates how Lestat s morals,
ignorance and understanding are greatly affected by outside forces.
In the beginning of the book, Lestat, the quick and cunning vampire referred to as the Brat Prince by
his followers stalks a wealthy artifact smuggler. Lestat soon becomes obsessed with his mortal victim,
Roger, following him and trying to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lestat was so occupied with his stalking; he neglected to take much note of this demon. Lestat was
confronted again by the demon the night he slaughtered his beloved Roger. This caused Lestat to
realize the devil was observing Lestat s own sick acts of evil and ignorance. As Roger s ghost justified
his evil doings Lestat obtained that Roger was not evil, as he was thought to be. This shocked Lestat,
causing him to become more aware and observant, resulting with Lestat s ignorance dissipating.
Though these changes in awareness came too slowly, Lestat was soon kidnapped by the Devil, and
brought on a mortifying and appalling trip. This furthermore extended Lestat s awareness, when it was
realized the Devil s kidnapping was fueled by his cruel acts and ignorance.
Finally, through Lestat s trek through Heaven and Hell with the Devil, Lestat grasps an understanding
that he had never before conceived. Lestat sees images that take him to the extremes of his vampire
mind. During his journey Lestat seizes Veronica s Veil, a famous artifact, and brings it back to earth.
Veronica s Veil was said to have Jesus face imprinted into it with blood. This Veil impacts the way
society views God, and furthers Lestat s vast knowledge of the world and its workings. This journey
alters his understanding to such an extent, Lestat states; This is what I saw, This is what I heard, This
is what I know! This is all I

Correlation between the novels The Flight to Canada and The Different Drummer Both of the novels
The Flight to Canada by Ishamael Reed and The Different Drummer by Melvin Kelley were powerful
and uplifting. The main subject of these two novels are slavery and freedom allowing the characters to
search for their identity either spiritually or physically. The Different Drummer is the novel that
encourages us to strive and push oneself to make a real difference in life, and stop taking our lives and
existence for granted. Both novels detailed the story of the main characters, that were striving to leave
their homes for a better life. All in all, both novels clearly illustrates the history of the complicated
relationships between the two races: whites and blacks.
As depicted in both novels, apart from poor compensation and intimidation, the slaves worked long
hours and under pressure. After working on the plants and sugarcane fields, the slaves had to do other
duties in a homestead, handling cattle, houses and so forth. In most of these cases, the slaves
demonstrated a state of compliance,

Capital Punishment Is Not So Easy Way Out
Capital Punishment a not so easy way out.
Is showing the country that killing people is wrong by killing other people the right way to do it?
Capital Punishment is a legal form of justice in 31 states of USA. This sentence consist in taking the
life of the accused individuals as a punishment for committing atrocious crimes such as murder, rape
and child abuse. Not only capital punishment is morally and ethically wrong, Capital punishment also
violates our constitutional rights, it also takes the lives of innocent people and it cost more to the
people living in the states that approve this punishment. Capital Punishment is should be abolish in all
the states of the United States of America.
Cost of Death
The majority of people would certainly agree with putting an end to this individuals lives believing
that is the right thing to do and probably would require less tax money. However, numerous studies
have been made on the matter and the results prove that the people who believe that killing accused
individuals saves money are erring. According to study conducted by Seattle University found that
since 1987 the five total cases in Washington amounted to a total bill gross to the taxpayer of 120
million dollars, around 24 million per execution. In three of the five cases the accused waived some of
his appeals reducing the total cost. Furthermore as reported by a Palm Beach Post study (2000) it was
found that the cost to execute some of Florida worst criminals the state needs

Montresor s Aristocracy
Aristocracy in the nineteenth century was widespread and revered in many nations in Europe. It was
the basis upon which many diplomatic and governing bodies ruled. Poe attempts to portray an element
of social class and order into The Cask of Amontillado, though it was cleverly modulated almost to the
point of barely existing as is reminiscent of his literary aesthetic. Baraban adopted this principle as the
principal argument to the events occurring in the text. She explains that unlike many detective stories,
the question asked is not who did it? But why do it? In her research, she discovered that this single
unattainable portion of the story led to many critics justifying the actions of Montresor as a result of
his insanity, which was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first offence as portrayed in the text was when Fortunato took hold of Montresor s arm and led
them towards the latter s residence. According to Baraban, He suffered when his offender virtually led
him to his palazzo because etiquette does not allow minor aristocracy the liberty of touching someone
of more noble origin. This supports her previously stated notion concerning the difference of class
between the two characters. Montresor, having a higher aristocratic background, feels unsettled with
Fortunato s display of dominance over the situation and his effort to belittle the esteem of his host.
The second offence was Fortunato s statement concerning the Montresor coat of arms, I forget your
arms....And the motto? Overlooking the main identifier and representative figure of a notable family is
an insult on its own, relaying the demeaning notion that one s family crest is not important enough to
be remembered and revered. The final offence committed by Fortunato was his implication that
Montresor was not a part of the masons. Then you are not of the brotherhood....You are not of the
masons. The masons were a group of nobles and social elites with high ranks in the society joined
together by their common need to influence decisions and policy making in the society, performing in
a sort of oligarchy. Montresor could not identify the gesture made by Fortunato because he was not as
involved in the politics of his peers as he ought to be in order to maintain his social standing in the
society. This proves why Fortunato was quick to assume that he was unaware of the inner workings of
the masonry

Multicultural In Canada
Development of Canada as a multicultural nation
In the early half of the 20th century, Canada was not known to be socially accepting of different races,
nor were a lot of countries in the world at the time. However, after World War II, everything started to
change. People started to stand up to these unfair rules, like the African Canadians and First Nations
did. In other cases, like the Vietnamese, they were gradually accepted into the Canadian Society.
Throughout all the ups and downs, protests and court rulings, we can look back and thank this era for
the diversity they created in Canada. The First Nations and the African Canadian issues were
significant, but the biggest clue that signified social change in Canada was from the Vietnamese ...

Though the first nations had operated on Canadian soil long before any Europeans settled on the land,
they were still disregarded in terms of importance in the early 20th century: Aboriginal policy was
made by government without consulting Aboriginal people and with little public attention . This quote
shows how First Nations people had no voice when it came to decisions made about them, or anything
else in Canada for that matter. Aboriginals hated that they were being taken advantage of, and they felt
like they were just a pawn in the government s game of chess. However, this started to change in the
1950s when public opinion became more informed and disturbed about Aboriginal poverty and
marginality . The Aboriginals voice was finally heard in 1951, where the Indian Act was revised.
Aboriginal representatives looked to further revise the Act in 1968, but the Government had other
plans. In the Summer of 1969, the Government releases its proposal of The White Paper , which was a
plan to terminate the Indian Act, and therefore Indian status, within the next 5 years. The Aboriginals
refused to give in to the government s wishes, and fought hard to convince them of a different
approach. The Government now saw for the first time of how the First Nations could put up a good
fight. The government, who was now faced with multiple tough decisions, retreated on their harsh
demands and

  • 2. Optical Disc and Hd Dvd Disruptive and transformational technologies typically appeal to segments of the market that are undeserved, and not to the main stream of the market (Shane, 2009). These technologies have the ability to make traditional tools and processes obsolete virtually overnight. In this paper I use Netflix as an example of a disruptive technology and Toshiba NEC s HD DVD as transformational technology. I begin with a discussion of disruptive technology. Afterwards, I will speak on the success of Netflix; explain the disruptive and shifting technology created once it sustained itself in the market. I then provide a review of transformational technology and explain the transformational change to HD DVD and the failure to capture and sustain a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In August of 2002, Toshiba NEC proposed the next generation optical disc format HD DVD (Williams, 2008). HD DVD (High Definition/Density DVD) transformed the way we view digital media in the early 2000 s. It was predicted that the HD DVD would be the successor to the standard DVD format. As the creator of the successor to the standard DVD format, Toshiba created a paradigm shift phasing out the standard DVD which played at 704 pixels by 480 pixels and introduced HD DVD which plays at 1920 pixel by 1080 pixels ( The difference between, ). The HD optical disk held up to 15GB on a single side and produced a crisp picture for in home entertainment. The HD DVD Promotion Group was a group of manufacturers and media studios formed to exchange thoughts and ideas to help promote the format worldwide (Rapid Response Team, 2006). With marketing and management Toshiba convinced companies such as Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO and New Line Cinema to announce support for the HD DVD format. This shift in technology, with the help of HDTV, moved in home entertainment to new heights. Toshiba NEC were able to capitalize on the market meeting the needs of the PC industry driven optical drive business and the next generation DVD media ( Toshiba and nec, 2002). • 3. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Hallucinations Essay INTRODUCTION Hallucinations are one of the most intriguing secrets of the mind, which are characterized by false visions, sounds, taste, smell, and touch that can occur when one is awake; it has a sufficient sense of reality, but one has no control over it. Hallucinations are the form of perception. There is no particular part of the brain that is involved in hallucinating. For example, people seeing faces could have a hyperactivity in fusiform face area involved in facial recognition. People with hyperactivity in the auditory cortex might experience auditory hallucinations: hearing music, or voices, that are not there. Hallucinations can be frightening, strange, or even amusing and divine. There are numerous causes of hallucinations: they are usually experienced by people with schizophrenia, Charles Bonnet syndrome, Parkinson s disease, or other psychological and mental disorders. However, hallucinations can also be experienced by healthy individuals, who are the subjects for studying the nature and causes of hallucinations, as they do not interact with other symptoms like in patients with schizophrenia. Researchers use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans to track the brain activities during hallucinations. The aim of this research paper is to describe several types of hallucinations, ways of studying hallucinations, and possible treatments. DISCUSSION 1. Emotional hallucinations Hallucinations do not have to be vivid; one of the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Parent Child Dynamics Essay Parent Child Dynamics: Self Perception Many adolescence face difficulties when entering into new group environments, such as school, social groups, extracurricular groups, etc. It has been discovered that the family environment has a great impact on the confidence of an adolescent, the family being the child s first group. It is difficult to pinpoint one specific trigger causing low self esteem within groups, as hereditary factors play an important role. It has been found that a discouraging family environment effects one s self confidence within a larger group. The way in which a child is treated at home reflects the way he or she sees themselves and their position within other groups. Furthermore, the way in which a parent views their child is the way in which a child may view themselves when they are among others in groups outside of the family. These findings support my initial hypothesis that a parent who views their child negatively will then cause the child to view him or herself in the same negative way among others in social groups outside of the home. I would like to research the way in which a parent s view of their child affects the child s self confidence in other groups. There is much existing research on the topic of parent child dynamics and their effect on the child s personality development. In Parent Child Socialization, Gary W. Peterson and Boyd C. Rollins (1987) write: In family interaction, complex sets of meanings are learned that allow family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The aim of the 3rd Crusade was to recapture Jerusalem, commonly regarded as the Holy Land, from the Muslims. Saladin, the ruler of the Muslims, was the sole enemy in this military campaign. The Crusade originally began due to a religious passion by both King Henry II of England and King Philip II of France. They agreed to end their conflicts with each other in order to lead a new crusade. However, in 1189, Henry died, leaving the role of Leader of the Crusades to his successor, King Richard I of England. The order links a connection to terrorism, particularly to the attack on September 11, 2001. Without these brave generations of immigrants who had risked themselves to travel to our shores, our nation simply would not be the successful country that it has been today. According to the American Immigration Council, immigrants create job and business opportunities, increase the wages of native born workers, and boost the economy in America. President Trump says the goal of this Executive Order is to provide protection and security for our country. However, the nationalities that he selected on his ban list have not killed a single person in the U.S. According to the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the nationalities that were involved with the attack of September 11, 2001 were Saudis, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Lebanon. Based on this evidence, the travel ban will not make America safer; therefore, the Executive Order doesn t serve its true purpose. The U.S Government will need to do more than just extreme vetting and restricting certain nationalities from coming to U.S soil to keep America safe. He will need to unite and persuade the people in America and around the world that having the freedom of religion and tolerance surpass jihad. Most importantly, we should welcome refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution instead of denying them. • 8. How Teachers Reinforce The Kiddos For Good Behavior In the classrooms I am observing I have noticed many ways in which teachers reinforce the kiddos for good behavior. Each teacher has their own rewards system. I have witnessed a rainbow chart, a marble system and a stick chart. I have also noticed that many of the teachers do multiple activities with a lesson in hopes that the information will reach the kiddos long term memory. The teachers use verbal lessons, hands on activities and written reflections. Each class has their rules and what is considered appropriate behavior. It has been interesting to see how each teacher rewards their students and how they make it known what is and isn t okay for the students to do. Two of the teachers I work with a lot have a very good rewards system going as a way of reinforcing good behavior. The first teacher uses a rainbow chart and when the students get to the top they get to choose a prize from the bucket. The other teacher uses a marble system. Each table and student has the chance to gain marbles along with the class as a whole. If students are listening and behaving they may get marbles to put in their tables container. If the whole class is doing an awesome job, the marbles get put into the classes jar. When the students get enough marbles their table gets a prize or reward of some sort, positive reinforcement. The kiddos get so excited when they get a prize. Negative punishment is used when they are misbehaving. The students can also get marbles taken out of their tables jar and ... Media s Role in Liberal Democracies The basic elements in a liberal democracy are regular elections, a parliament exercising control over government within law and individuals freedoms such as free debate, freedom of association and the right to protest (Carter Stokes, 2002). Additionally, as Carter and Stokes (2002) state that there should be a parliament that can exercise control over the government and all this happens within a frame work of the rule of law (p.10). One example is from New York Times (3 May 2003) that journalist Jayson Blair had made up interviews and stories, he was fired at the moment in an attempt to protect the integrity of the paper (Street, 2011, p.53). The love of propaganda of our days negatively affect news presentation in a way it manipulates and derives new information or selects information in favor of some particular groups. Investigating government power or political activity is another contribution that news can make to democracies. In other words this function can be described as maintaining politicians honesty. This provides the public to be aware of their politicians activities so people can make sound choices and rational decisions. In countries with non liberal regimes, journalism cannot fulfill its investigative duties, serving to their political masters. Hutton (2008) claims that in China, journalists and editors receive daily instructions on what may or may not be reported (p.134). Journalists duty to serve the public includes investigating and gathering information by means of having connections and resources who mostly disguise themselves for the sake of remaining hidden. The excuse for keeping secret is either some activity is swept under the carpet or have some externalities result into affecting many. The journalists ability to investigate has ... In one of the collections, called Trasformations, Sexton re tells Grimm s Fairy Tales in her own unique confessional style, often using the absurdity of these stories to expose flaws and complexity of the surrounding world. Influences from Europe, as well as rapid urban development have given rise to a firmer stance on women s rights. This subject has encouraged prominent thinkers to learn more about the idea. This has entered a very fascinating way of thinking that has even perplexed the astounding minds of Plato, Aristotle, and Jean Paul Sartre. This is why owning something has more significance than may be thought, tangible goods are detrimental to a person s character, ownership of tangible goods helps to develop moral character, and ownership extends beyond objects to include intangible things as well. To begin, Plato supports the thought that having ownership of anything was detrimental. Plato heavily believed in Christian thought, and this is what shaped his biases of ownership. In summary, true Christians had no possessions and were poor; they did not require such petty things to make them happy when they had God in their lives. Plato s quote directly supports this, No human thing is of serious importance. This gave the idea that owning anything would be considered greedy, or in some extreme cases, blasphemy. ... I will start off by giving a definition of energy metabolism in the body. Metabolism in the body is a collection of chemical reactions that takes place in the body s cells. Metabolism converts the nutrients in the food that we eat in to essential energy which is needed to power all that we do, from something as little as thinking to growing physically or carrying out a physical activity. Discuss the role of energy in the body (M1) In our bodies we need energy so that we could do things that are possible such as move our muscles, talk and all the other things that we do. Without energy all humans would be useless not being able to do anything. Energy is needed to extract the oxygen from the areas in our bodies and diffuse it into our bloodstream. Supplying enough energy to support the functions of the body in a daily basis is one of the main reasons for food. This energy comes from the fats, carbohydrates, and proteins in the food you eat. Of the three, fat is the most concentrated source of energy. Energy requirements are normally put in terms of calories. The energy requirement for a person is spilt into two parts: basal metabolic requirements and energy required for activity. Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the heat taken from the body at rest when temperature is normal. An average person requires 2000 2500 Calories per day while the difference for a large man doing heavy work may require up to 6000 Calories per day. When you choose foods that have more energy, or Calories than you need, the excess energy is stored as fat in the body which will results in putting on some weight. If too little food is eaten to meet energy demands, the body s stored fat serves as an energy source and this will result in weight loss. He published The English Dancing Master in 1651 which provided information on 105 English country dances. (Sue, Norma. Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) Through this period there were many great dancing masters and manuals. Although this was very important in this time the technique and movement of this era is where my real focus lies. Within this era there were 5 selected dance steps that were always used and then put together into a sequence. The 5 steps are; demi coupe, coupe, pas de bourree, temps de courante and the minuet step. All of these steps were then put together and you had do them and in a faster manor which was hard because you aren t familiar with the steps but it is a step you know but it seems harder when put into a different sequence to different music. The steps in the Baroque time were very interesting but the movement qualities are something that would be very hard to adjust to as this is something that has evolved and changed over time as dance has also got more difficult over time. The movement qualities of include low legs, vertical movements, weight primarily on the ball of one foot, relaxed toes, 90 degree turnout and fluttering embroideries of arms and legs. (Sue, Norma. Baroque Dancing Master and Dances. ) From this we can see how the movement qualities are very different from what we do now as the toes would very be relaxed because we now practice a full pointe at all times and we also now practice 180 degree turnout and you don t even really see 90 degree turnout anymore as everyone strives to have that perfect turnout. Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud are two of the most well known psychologists due to both their contributions to psychology that are still relevant today and also the controversial nature of their work. Many psychologists believed that their work was not scientific and therefore not useful in psychology. For example, Freud s theories are considered unfalsifiable because they cannot be proved or disproved, which is mainly due to the abstract concepts that cannot be measured objectively. There was a subjective nature to their work, which had little empirical evidence to support it. However, many of Freud and Jung s original theories and ideas are highly influential and have practical implications in the present day, despite their lack of a scientific approach. One of the main implications of Freud s work was the development of psychoanalysis, which was considered unscientific as any evidence supporting its success was based on self report data and not on scientific evidence. In addition, any evidence that did regard psychoanalysis as a successful treatment of mental illness did not suggest that it was any more successful than other treatments. Freud approached mental illness in a whole new way, considering the possibility that mental illness was not purely physiological but that mental illnesses had a psychological basis ... Also, in Castro s speech History Will Absolve Me, Castro already developed and laid down five revolutionary principles that called for the nationalization of the Cuban economy, which shows that Castro s writings in 1953 matched his writings later on about his formative years. This shows that in the early stages of the Cuban revolution that Castro s ideological beliefs of nationalism found in Marxism and Jose Marti, match the writings in his later life about his formative years where Castro claimed that he was always a ... • 36. Causes Of Mrs. G Gangs One challenge that this group of students present to Mrs. G is the separation because of gangs. When the students come in they turn desks out of rows to sit by their group and give nasty looks and threats to other gangs. Not to mention, most of the students held grudges against other students because they have killed people in each other s gangs. This causes a big divide in the class and a lack of communication. To deal with this, Mrs. G tells certain people to move and some of their gang members get mixed up, this eventually works out and the students start voluntarily sitting next to anyone in the class. As first, however, this leads to the second challenge Mrs. G faces. The second challenge Mrs. G faces because of the students is a fight. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Traversal Of The Infinite Finiteness has to do with the existence of boundaries. Intuitively, we feel that where there is a separation, a border, a threshold there is bound to be at least one thing finite out of a minimum of two. This, of course, is not true. Two infinite things can share a boundary. Infinity does not imply symmetry, let alone isotropy. An entity can be infinite to its left and bounded on its right. Moreover, finiteness can exist where no boundaries can. Take a sphere: it is finite, yet we can continue to draw a line on its surface infinitely. The boundary , in this case, is conceptual and arbitrary: if a line drawn on the surface of a sphere were to reach its starting point then it is finite. Its starting point is the boundary, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second thesis is that every substance is made up of simpler substances. The two mathematical antinomies relate to the infinite. The answer to the first is: Since the world does not exist in itself (detached from the infinite regression), it exists unto itself neither as a finite whole nor as an infinite whole. Indeed, if we think about the world as an object, it is only logical to study its size and origins. But in doing so, we attribute to it features derived from our thinking, not affixed by any objective reality. Kant made no serious attempt to distinguish the infinite from the infinite regression series, which led to the antinomies. Paradoxes are the offspring of problems with language. Philosophers used infinite regression to attack both the notions of finiteness (Zeno) and of infinity. Ryle, for instance, suggested the following paradox: voluntary acts are caused by wilful acts. If the latter were voluntary, then other, preceding, wilful acts will have to be postulated to cause them and so on ad infinitum and ad nauseam. Either the definition is wrong (voluntary acts are not caused by wilful acts) or wilful acts are involuntary. Both conclusions are, naturally, unacceptable. Infinity leads to unacceptable conclusions is the not so hidden message. Zeno used infinite series to attack the notion of finiteness and to demonstrate that finite things are made of infinite quantities of ever smaller things. Anaxagoras said that there is no smallest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main subject of these two novels are slavery and freedom allowing the characters to search for their identity either spiritually or physically. The Different Drummer is the novel that encourages us to strive and push oneself to make a real difference in life, and stop taking our lives and existence for granted. Both novels detailed the story of the main characters, that were striving to leave their homes for a better life. All in all, both novels clearly illustrates the history of the complicated relationships between the two races: whites and blacks. As depicted in both novels, apart from poor compensation and intimidation, the slaves worked long hours and under pressure. After working on the plants and sugarcane fields, the slaves had to do other duties in a homestead, handling cattle, houses and so forth. In most of these cases, the slaves demonstrated a state of compliance, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Capital Punishment is a legal form of justice in 31 states of USA. This sentence consist in taking the life of the accused individuals as a punishment for committing atrocious crimes such as murder, rape and child abuse. Cost of Death The majority of people would certainly agree with putting an end to this individuals lives believing that is the right thing to do and probably would require less tax money. However, numerous studies have been made on the matter and the results prove that the people who believe that killing accused individuals saves money are erring. According to study conducted by Seattle University found that since 1987 the five total cases in Washington amounted to a total bill gross to the taxpayer of 120 million dollars, around 24 million per execution. In three of the five cases the accused waived some of his appeals reducing the total cost. • 44. Montresor s Aristocracy Aristocracy in the nineteenth century was widespread and revered in many nations in Europe. It was the basis upon which many diplomatic and governing bodies ruled. Poe attempts to portray an element of social class and order into The Cask of Amontillado, though it was cleverly modulated almost to the point of barely existing as is reminiscent of his literary aesthetic. Baraban adopted this principle as the principal argument to the events occurring in the text. She explains that unlike many detective stories, the question asked is not who did it? But why do it? In her research, she discovered that this single unattainable portion of the story led to many critics justifying the actions of Montresor as a result of his insanity, which was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first offence as portrayed in the text was when Fortunato took hold of Montresor s arm and led them towards the latter s residence. According to Baraban, He suffered when his offender virtually led him to his palazzo because etiquette does not allow minor aristocracy the liberty of touching someone of more noble origin. This supports her previously stated notion concerning the difference of class between the two characters. Montresor, having a higher aristocratic background, feels unsettled with Fortunato s display of dominance over the situation and his effort to belittle the esteem of his host. The second offence was Fortunato s statement concerning the Montresor coat of arms, I forget your arms....And the motto? Overlooking the main identifier and representative figure of a notable family is an insult on its own, relaying the demeaning notion that one s family crest is not important enough to be remembered and revered. The final offence committed by Fortunato was his implication that Montresor was not a part of the masons. Then you are not of the brotherhood....You are not of the masons. The masons were a group of nobles and social elites with high ranks in the society joined together by their common need to influence decisions and policy making in the society, performing in a sort of oligarchy. Montresor could not identify the gesture made by Fortunato because he was not as involved in the politics of his peers as he ought to be in order to maintain his social standing in the society. This proves why Fortunato was quick to assume that he was unaware of the inner workings of the masonry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Multicultural In Canada Development of Canada as a multicultural nation In the early half of the 20th century, Canada was not known to be socially accepting of different races, nor were a lot of countries in the world at the time. However, after World War II, everything started to change. People started to stand up to these unfair rules, like the African Canadians and First Nations did. In other cases, like the Vietnamese, they were gradually accepted into the Canadian Society. Throughout all the ups and downs, protests and court rulings, we can look back and thank this era for the diversity they created in Canada. Though the first nations had operated on Canadian soil long before any Europeans settled on the land, they were still disregarded in terms of importance in the early 20th century: Aboriginal policy was made by government without consulting Aboriginal people and with little public attention . This quote shows how First Nations people had no voice when it came to decisions made about them, or anything else in Canada for that matter. Aboriginals hated that they were being taken advantage of, and they felt like they were just a pawn in the government s game of chess. However, this started to change in the 1950s when public opinion became more informed and disturbed about Aboriginal poverty and marginality . The Aboriginals voice was finally heard in 1951, where the Indian Act was revised. Aboriginal representatives looked to further revise the Act in 1968, but the Government had other plans. In the Summer of 1969, the Government releases its proposal of The White Paper , which was a plan to terminate the Indian Act, and therefore Indian status, within the next 5 years. The Aboriginals refused to give in to the government s wishes, and fought hard to convince them of a different approach. The Government now saw for the first time of how the First Nations could put up a good fight. The government, who was now faced with multiple tough decisions, retreated on their harsh demands and ...
