The Kardashian And Jenner Family
Rules have changed since the rise of social media; you no longer have to be an actor in order to
be famous. Celebrities and culture have basically become one in the media. Most celebrities
wouldn t exist without the help of the media even if the media is just look for the next big
scandal. The media doesn t care if it affects the celebrity in a negative way as long as the news
gets the public attention. For almost ten years the Kardashian and Jenner family have been in the
news so often for criticism but for them any publicity, whether good or bad, is helpful to their
image. This family has used social media to maintain a larger fan base; they have given up so
much of their privacy in order for them to stay relevant to their fans. The Kardashian... Show more

Physical Properties and Reactions of Period 3 Oxides
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE PERIOD 3 OXIDES
These pages explain the relationship between the physical properties of the oxides of Period 3
elements (sodium to chlorine) and their structures. Argon is obviously omitted because it doesn t
form an oxide.
A quick summary of the trends
The oxides
The oxides we ll be looking at are:
|Na2O |MgO |Al2O3 |SiO2 |P4O10 |SO3 |Cl2O7 |
| | | | |P4O6 |SO2 |Cl2O |
Those oxides in the top row are known as the highest oxides of the various elements. These are the
oxides where the Period 3 elements are in their highest oxidation states. In these oxides, all the
outer electrons in the Period 3 element are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What you can safely say is that because the metallic oxides and silicon dioxide have giant
structures, the melting and boiling points are all high.
Electrical conductivity
Silicon dioxide doesn t have any mobile electrons or ions so it doesn t conduct electricity either as a
solid or a liquid.
The molecular oxides
Phosphorus, sulphur and chlorine all form oxides which consist of molecules. Some of these
molecules are fairly simple others are polymeric. We are just going to look at some of the simple
ones.
Melting and boiling points of these oxides will be much lower than those of the metal oxides or
silicon dioxide. The intermolecular forces holding one molecule to its neighbors will be van der
Waals dispersion forces or dipole dipole interactions. The strength of these will vary depending on
the size of the molecules.
None of these oxides conducts electricity either as solids or as liquids. None of them contains ions
or free electrons.
The phosphorus oxides
Phosphorus has two common oxides, phosphorus (III) oxide, P4O6, and phosphorus (V) oxide,
P4O10.
Phosphorus (III) oxide (tetraphosphorus hexoxide)
Phosphorus (III) oxide is a white solid, melting at 24В°C and boiling at 173В°C.
The phosphorus is using only three of its outer electrons (the 3 unpaired p electrons) to form bonds
with the oxygens.
Phosphorus (V) oxide (tetraphosphorus decoxide)
Phosphorus (V) oxide is also a white solid, subliming (turning straight

Romania s Abandoned Children
Romania s Abandoned Children Biography Nicolae Ceausescu was a Romanian activist,
military leader, and president during the 71 years of his life. He was raised by peasant parents
so he saw firsthand the depredations that the people on the lower rungs of society had been
forced to accept throughout the many years of the monarchy that ruled the country. He went to
work in a factory when he was just 11 years old, and he almost immediately began following the
communist philosophies and reactionary politics. After World War II when Soviet Russia was
beginning to dominate the region, he, like many of his contemporaries, made sure that they
were members of the ruling class that was forming (Kaplan 81). He believed the communist
ideology, and he was positioned, because of his associations, to become a prominent member of
the new party. When the communists came to power, he was first a Minister of Defense, and
then the head of the defense forces. When it came time to select a leader after the death of
Ceausescu s good friend and mentor Georghe Georghiu Dej who had been the country s leader,
Ceausescu was selected as a compromise between the many different factions that wanted to rule
the country (Kaplan 102). Ceausescu was seen as a good leader by Western nations at first
because he separated himself from many of the exclusionary Soviet Bloc policies, but he changed
after about ten years of leadership (Pop 64). For the final 15 years of his rule, Ceausescu became a
tyrant much

The Inadequacy Of Free Enterprise
The Inadequacy of Free Enterprise The perception that there is a need for government
involvement in pensions is in large part due to the fact that private pensions are decreasingly
reliable. According to Bonnar (2008), conventional wisdom suggests that private sector defined
benefit (DB) pension plans are in the midst of a funding crisis (p. 21). In terms of how this
applies to Ontario in particular, it is probably based, Bonnar (2008) argues, on the fact that the
largest 100 companies in the Toronto stock exchange saw their median funded ratios reduced
from 108 percent by the end of the year 2000 down to 79 percent in 2005. This is despite the fact
that contributions made by sponsors increased dramatically during the same period from 4
million dollars in 2000 to 14 million in 2005. This is based on a study looking at the largest 100
companies on the Toronto stock exchange index as determined by market capitalization (Bonnar,
2008, p. 21). Companies that did not offer defined benefit pension plans were excluded from the
analysis. Companies in the financial sector were reviewed separately because the financial ratios
are so drastically different in that sector of the economy than elsewhere. Robson (2008) supports the
idea that private pension funds are not sufficient to meet the retirement needs of Ontarian workers,
arguing that By now, however, evidence is overwhelming that the problems afflicting single
employer defined benefit plans are not just the result of a series

Planning, Scheduling, Budgeting and Risk Management for the Desire2Learn (D2L) Learning
Management System
Overview
Translating the many project requirements, risks and costs into a single cohesive platform to
manage the implementation of the Desire2Learn (D2L) learning management system is the intent
of this analysis. One of the most critical success factors of any project plan is the balancing of risk,
costs and time constraints to ensure the overarching project is completed on or before schedule
(Cleland, 1985). The action definition and plan design components of the D2L Learning
Management Systems are defined and discussed in this project plan analysis with specific focus on
timing and resource allocations. In addition, this analysis has been created to serve as the
framework to guide the implementation of the D2L Learning Management System over the
duration of the project. Resources for this plan s completion include the Chief Information Officer
(CIO) for the district, Information Systems and Information Technology (IT) department staff
members, the superintendent, the vendor professional services team and the vendor training and
implementation staffs. All of these teams and individuals need to be orchestrated towards a
common objective and timeline in order for the project plan to succeed. Creating and maintaining a
collaborative platform is essential for the attainment of project plan deadlines and milestones,
serving as a platform for communication and knowledge

The Continuation Phase Of The Maintenance Phase
Second is the continuation phase which lasts four to nine months. During the continuation phase,
planning focuses on maintaining adherence to the medication regimen and prevention of relapse
(Halter, 2014. p. 235). Interventions vary depending on the patient s coping skills, cognitive
function, availability of support systems, and financial status. Psychoeducational teaching must
be done for the patient as well as the family. If needed, referrals to community programs or
groups may be done. Lastly is the maintenance phase which focuses on avoiding relapses and
diminishing the severity of episodes that may occur in the future. Everything that has been done in
the first two stages will play a role in the maintenance phase. Another important intervention is
being able to identify triggers. Recollecting data can be done by the patient or by anyone close to
the patient such as family, friends, significant other, etc. Daily mood charting can also help
identify triggers. The following website http:://moodtracker.com has a chart that can keep track of
warning signs and triggers. Charts can include being able to track medication compliance, mood,
changes in sleep, and daily activities. Being aware of triggers can allow early intervention which
can minimize the severity of the manic or depressive episodes. Evidence based Research Papers A

The Right to Die
Analysis The right to die has been brought to the media and public spotlight through the cases of
Karen Ann Quinlan, Cruzan v. Missouri, and Vacco v. Quill. This issue has been the topic of
heated debate for years in the religious, scientific, and political community. This is because this
topic ties into many communities and effects a large amount of people. These cases brought the
right to diedebate to the religious community. The reason for this is from the use of life support
which many believe should not be used at all because people should die naturally as they believe
god intended. This belief also ties into the matter of physician assisted suicide brought up in the
Vacco v. Quill case, one should not be given a lethal dose of drugs and should die naturally. The
publics opinion on the right to die has a drastic range, due to the fact this matter spans all groups of
people. A popular opinion from the public is that the government has no right to decide whether
someone can or cannot end their lives, pertaining to the case of Vacco v. Quill and euthanasia
. This
statement is a very true one, why should the government be involved in the death of a free person?
This may be the case for euthanasia, but there is another factor in the right to die debate. That other
factor is removing one from life support. This issue is brought up in both the case of Karen Ann
Quinlanand in the case of Cruzan v. Missouri. It is illegal to remove a patient from life support

Gregor the Overlander, a Book by Suzanne Collins Essay
We humans who live on the surface of the earth are all Overlanders! This is what I found out
when I read Gregor the Overlander, a book written by Suzanne Collins. It is the first book in the
Underland Chronicles series. This book was 311 pages of Underland adventure. The story
begins with the protagonist, Gregor. He is a bony eleven year old boy. He lives in a hot,
cramped apartment with his poor, struggling family. He is living in a state of frustration. His
seven year old sister Lizzie gets to go off to camp, while he is stuck at home watching his 2 year
old sister, who is called Boots. His father is missing, his mother is working all the time, his
grandmother is senile and calls him Simon. There is an odd woman named Mrs.... Show more

Underland. He tries to escape with Boots down the waterway. He is pursued by the Regalians
and flees to a beach. There, he and Boots are confronted by two giant, talking, aggressive rats!
The rats have a hatred for Overlanders and decide to eat Gregor and Boots. A fight ensues.
Gregor and Boots are rescued by the Regalians, but not without casualties. They are taken back
to the city. There, Gregor finds out about a prophecy called The Prophecy of the Gray . Vikus
thinks will be fulfilled by Gregor. Now it is time to start the Quest to save Regalia from the
Rats. But, Gregor is a reluctant warrior. He doesn t think that he is really the one to save them
all. He doesn t want to believe that the responsibility is his. Vikus reveals the information that
Gregor s father is alive and being held prisoner by the rats. Gregor learns that where there is life,
there is hope! Gregor now has his own quest, to rescue his father from the rats! Gregor captures
the imagination of anyone who has some frustrations in their life. I can relate to Gregor s
wanting to make his life better. My problems are not near to the level of Gregors, but I would
enjoy a bit of an escape into a grand adventure. During his adventure, he took care of Boots and
made her a priority. I

Essay On Disney World
The Exciting World Of An Extrovert
I m going to Disney World! or I m going to Disneyland! are two statements that are familiar to
Super Bowl viewers. These statements were made in times of high excitement, adrenaline fueled
post game celebration. Ironically, Disney World and Disneyland both produce that same kind of
excitement and happiness after all, they are considered the happiest place on earth. Thankfully, with
Walt Disney wanting to create a place where his cartoon characters could come alive, and wanting
them to interact with families, who came to have a fun time together, we have the two wonderful
amusement parks.
Walter Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago Illinois. He had early interests in art,

Other than being a visionary, Walter also demonstrated democratic leadership by relying on his

wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality ( 9 Walt Disney
Quotes for Startup and Entrepreneur Inspiration ). In other words, being genial with your
employees is essential to the foundation of any organization/business. Walt showed the
leadership style of coaching when he invested in his employee s futures by offering further
schooling. Walter can also be classified as Pacesetting. He shows this when he had high standards
towards his employees, and when he had a high demand for them to achieve excellence. He really

Legalized Drinking
Legally Drinking In the United States Explaining the topic to any adult, they mainly all have the
same idea; teenagers just want to party, they do not act their age, but sometimes that is not
always the case. Once a male teenager turns eighteen, what does he have to sign up for by law?
The draft. Teenagers are always looked down upon once they become adults, as if older adults
think they are not ready for what is to come, but once they make a mistake against the law, the first
thing to happens is they get tried as an adult. In all of these situations, the same thing is
reoccurring; any teenager that turns eighteen is considered an adult, but if they were to drink, like
any other twenty one year old adult, they would get charged and tried as... Show more content on

Many young adults do not find that fair. What the law is saying is any young adult can be tried
as an adult but are not allowed to drink and adult beverage. To me, it does not sound fair to do; if
anyone is considered an adult by law, than by law they should be allowed to do adult things. By
law, drinking alcohol underage, or having possession of alcohol, can be a misdemeanor punishable
up to a year in jail, and a $4,000 fine. Personally, this just does not seem fair. Other examples of
misdemeanors are: simple assaults, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, indecent exposure,
prostitution, theft, trespassing, and vandalism. So, basically, domestic violence and underage
drinking could end up having the same punishment. Publically beating someone up and drinking at
someone s house underage does not seem like they fit in the same category; both are punishable up
to a year with a pretty hefty fine. Also, getting caught drinking and driving has the same punishment
as just drinking underage. To me, this almost encourages drunk driving because it has the same
punishment, so, why

The Anatomy Of The Muscle System
Knowing the anatomy of the muscle system can help many people when understanding different
parts of the field they study. Aspiring to be a cosmetologist, it is important for me to understand
the muscle system in the way that certain muscles can stimulate certain reactions of the human
body. Services such as facials and scalp massages involve the movement of the face, neck, back,
head, arms, and hands. By knowing the way the muscular system is organized to better
accommodate a client, a better and more successful cosmetologist can be formed. Also, by being
aware of the best way to move and take care of my own muscles, I can avoid long term pain,

Next, the non striated muscles are the exact opposite of striated muscles. These muscles are also
known as smooth muscles and they function automatically without conscious will. They are
involuntary. Non Striated muscles are found in the internal organs of the body. An example of
where you can find a non striated muscle would be in the digestive or respiratory system. Lastly, the
cardiac muscle is found in only one part of the body. The cardiac muscle contains the heartand is
involuntary thankfully. If the heart was a voluntary muscle and you so happened forgot to make it
pump blood, you would be doomed as a person. There are three parts of a muscle. The origin of
the muscle is the part of the muscle that does not move and is attached closest to the skeleton. In
the middle of the muscle, there is a part known as the belly. Lastly, the part of the muscle that
moves and is farthest from the skeleton is the insertion. Connected to Cosmetology, when giving
massages, pressure from the massage is usually directed from the insertion in to the origin. When
giving massages, it is all about stimulation of the muscles of the body. Muscular tissue can be
stimulated by massages, electrical therapy current, infrared light, dry heat, moist heat, nerve
impulses, and certain chemicals. All of these things are used one way or another during services
performed by Cosmetologists. Mainly, Cosmetologists focus on the muscles

My Academic Goals And Research Interests
My academic goals and research interests have developed significantly over the course of my
undergraduate studies at Susquehanna University. When I first arrived at Susquehanna I was a
biology major and had dreams of medical school. However, by the end of freshman year, I began
to develop an interest in neuroscience. Declaring a major in neuroscience allowed me to explore
the components of biology I loved, while incorporating psychologyand chemistry.
My research interests developed from my exposure to the various areas of neuroscience through
my internships, research experiences and courses. I am currently working on a research project,
with the goal of gaining a more thorough understanding of the genes involved in lateral glial cell
differentiation in the central nervous system of Drosophila. I conduct genetic crosses to obtain the
desired genomes and collect embryos for immunostaining. I examine the expression of a
conceptual gene, cg31235, which is solely expressed in longitudinal glial cells, in the presence of
the genes Pointed P1 (PntP1) and Reversed Polarity (Repo). Subsequently, I will then use
immunostaining to examine the expression of PntP1 and Repo in order to determine whether they
regulate the genes involved in the in the development and function of longitudinal glia. Last fall, I
presented my research proposal, which was followed by a presentation at the Society of
Developmental Biology this spring. These experiences have strengthened my desire to explore

How Did Iago Sabotage Othello s Relationship With Desdemona
After reading and studying William Shakespeare s classic story of Othello, I have concluded that
Iago sabotages Othello s relationship with Desdemona because he was jealous of him. While
analyzing different critics opinions and views on Iago s motives, I found many contrasting ideas
and discovered that not all are aligned with my initial hypothesis. What I am going to examine is:
Why did Iagosabotage Othellos relationship with Desdemona? How did Iago sabotage Othello s
relationship with Desdemona? And what were the effects of him sabotaging Othello s relationship
with Desdemona? Through my chosen critics analyses and my own reading and studying of the

Paris also states that Iago is afraid of love and of any other passion which would undermine his
self sufficiency or interfere with his calculated pursuit of his own interests. Love for him means
weakness and vulnerability. He also believes that Iago relies upon his intellectual powers for the
manipulation of others and the mastery of life, and he dreads anything which will disturb their
functioning. Paris thinks that the reason for Iago acting as he did is because his vindictiveness
stems from impulses to take revenge for humiliations suffered in childhood . Iago abandons love
as a value, defends himself against his frustration by scorning what he cannot have, and tries to
overcome his feelings of self hate and worthlessness through the pursuit of mastery and triumph.
Paris also thinks Iago needs to be liked, trusted and approved but he cannot admit these desires to
himself because they conflict with his aggression and would expose him to rejection. By playing
the role of honest Iago , he gains the confidence of Othello, Cassio and Desdemona and he assures
himself that he is only fooling them to further his aggressive ends. The lieutenancy was the
immediate prize for which Iago had been scheming. Gaining it would have verified his estimate of
his own abilities, assured him of Othello s love and admiration and

the chemicals in the brain that promote work ethic and reward driven behavior. Group A had

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Friction Pile
FOUNDATIONS Friction piles
What is a Friction pile?
In friction piles the load is resisted by friction between the surface of the pile and the surrounding
soil. A pure friction pile is usually quite long due to the fact that the load carrying capacity is a
function of the shaft being in contact with the soil.
When would a friction pile be used?
This kind of pile is used when there are no signs of hard rock materials present at a reasonable
depth. (A softer material for the pile to drive through)
Advantage
Where sands of medium to low density are found, friction piles can be used to increase the density
and therefore the strength.

Dear Professor Csikszentmihalyi,
This letter is talking about what I learned from your book, my flow experiences and what are
elements of flow in my opinion. But before that I would like to share a old Chinese fairy tale
with you. 1800 years ago in Jin dynasty of China, there was a farmer who s name is Wangzhi.
One day he went out to cut firewood in hills, he saw there are an old man and a child playing the
GO (a Chinese game) in pavilion. So he left his axe on a stump and watched them playing. He
was so focus on the game that he totally forgot the time. After a long time, the child told him that
as it is so late you had better go home. Then Wangzhi pick up his axe and start to go home. He
was so surprised that his axe handle was rotted and mold. When he backed home his neighbor
told him he had already went out more than 10 years. Of cause fairy tales are not always true
story and also may sound like an exaggeration. But in this fairy tale we can know that Chinese
people realize that people have flow experience hundreds years ago.
In this semester we have been discussing about Optimal Experience and what is Flow and how to
achieve it in class. I learned that you named the psychological concept of flow, a highly focused
mental state. In your seminal work, Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, you outline
your theory that people are happiest when they are in a state of flow a state of concentration or

Summary Of The Fatal Environment By Richard Slotkin
This painting shows a Native American tribe on a snowy hill. They are watching a train pass by
diagonally below them. The party appears to be travelling somewhere together. Several of the
individuals are horseback riding while the others are walking. ItВґs looks like they are fleeing from
something, almost as these people are vanishing away from reality. This Trail of Tears
that they are
riding/walking on was the the path that displaced North American Indian tribes from their land east
of the Mississippi River to the Indian Territory, the area that later became Oklahoma. The term
Trail of Tears comes from a text that describes the movement of the Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole,

Slotkin illustrates the emergence by 1890 of a myth that was redefined to help Americans answer
the misperception and conflict of the industrialization and grand extension. In The Fatal
Environment, Richard Slotkin proves in what way the myth of frontier growth and defeat of the
Native Americans helped to validate the progression of Americas final stand as a symbol for
whatever Americans feared might occurred if the frontier were to be closed, and the violent part be
allowable to rule the civilized, Slotkin displays the rise by 1890 of a fable redefined to support
Americans answer to the misunderstanding and contention of industrialization and grand extension.
Sweeney is comparing The Fatal Environment to The Morning of a New Day.
He argues that the reason why Farny s Morning of a New Day attract few imitators is because of
the ambivalent image of the fatal environment within it. The fact that it represents the genocide of
the Native American tribes was the result the dominant bourgeois group s belief in its self
proclaimed manifest destiny to take the West from the Native Americans by military conquest,
through technological and entrepreneurial superiority, or if necessary by outright theft. (Page 141)

case. The two disciplines Sociologyand Religion, offer a broader range of multiple perspectives,
which is why they are recommended for gaining deeper insight of the Salem witchcrafttrials.
To further examine the Salem witchcraft trials, one must understand the different viewpoints. In
Allen F. Repko s Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies , there are different approaches to each
discipline. The perspective on reality, the phenomena they study, and the epistemology they
embrace. Sociology is defined in many aspects. The perspective on reality define sociology as ...
viewing the world as a social reality that includes the range and nature of the relationships that
exist between people in any given society... particularly interested in voices of various subcultures,
analysis of institutions and how bureaucracies and vested interests shape life (Repko, 2014, p 27).
This was evident throughout Arthur Miller s play The Crucible . By viewing the relationships
between people and society it is clear as to why the events of Salem took place.
Through a sociological perspective, public

Examples Of Porter s Five Forces
Porter s Five Forces Model
Porter s Five Forces are the following: Potential entrants with their threat of entry; Buyers with
bargaining; Suppliers with their bargaining power; Threats of substitutes and Rivalry. I will
describe the Five Forces and how they are helpful in the international area. I will also discuss
their current applications and conclude with the limitations that this model has. The first force to
discuss is the supplier power. This force leads to buyer supplier relationships between firms and
industries. When suppliers are in a position of strength they have influence over the industry that
provides raw materials; their goal is to sell raw materials at a higher price in order to capture some
of the industry s profit. An example of this can be Jewelry stores holding ... Show more content on

When new industry enters the market if throws of the balance, affecting competitions. In theory we
have a free market; meaning any firm can enter and exit the market at will. The reality it s just not
that simple due to barriers of entry. When profits are high many firms what to enter the market
and over time profits will decrease. When the profits begin to decrease then firms begin to exit the
market. Barriers are unique characteristic in the industry to reduce the rate of entry of new firms
into the market. One type of barrier is entry deterring pricing, this is when the price is kept
relatively low to discourage other firms from entering the market. Government barriers are those in
with the government create monopolies through regulations. An example of this type of barrier is
the utility market, in which the government rather have one company providing efficient service.
Other barriers are patents and assets specificity. Exit barriers keep a firm from leaving the markets.
Examples can be that they have specialized assets that difficult to liquidate, high exit cost and

Archetypal Theory In Pygmalion
Ever since we were little children we have been able to see the world around us. We noticed that
there are colors and images but we never truly knew what they meant. Then, we were brought
into school where we were then taught what color is what color and how there are two types of
colors: light and dark. We were taught that the light colors usually mean happiness while the
darker colors represent sadness. Colors and images are how the idea of Archetypal Theory came to
be, helping us discover a deeper meaning within the text. After watching the movies My Fair Lady,
Princess and The Frog, and reading the book Pygmalion, I was able to discover how colors and
images help us better understand the character s journeys from rags to riches. At the beginning
of all three of these stories the characters start out as some nobodies, but then through the
archetypal theory thrown into these pieces so we see how they transform into becoming happy
and wealthy people near the end of the stories. At the beginning of all three of these stories, colors
help us understand who the characters really are. For all of these pieces we are able to see how
dirty and poor both Eliza and Tiana are starting off as. In Pygmalion, Eliza is described as having a
brown skirt with a coarse apron. Her boots are much the worse for wear. She is no doubt as clean as
she can afford to be (Shaw 1. 13). If we dig deeper into the meaning of this quotation we can see
what these colors truly mean. George Bernard

Vladek s Relationship In Maus
The award winning graphic novel Maus is a first person story of Art Spiegelman s father, a
Holocaust survivor. However, through the narrative, the author conveys not only the dynamic
character of his father, Vladek, but also subtly discloses his own complexity through his
commentary on his father s experiences. In his interesting elucidation, he reveals that he may be
just as fascinating of a character, if not more so, than the dynamic persona of his father. In Maus,
close reading proves that Art characterizes himself through his portrayal of his relationship with his
father, and his feelings for his mother. One of the largest factors that defines Art s character is his
complex relationship with his father. While Maus generally details his... Show more content on

Although the author does not explicitly talk about Anja as much as Vladek, the few times that Art
reveals his thoughts are emotionally rich in context. The most notable of these powerful moments
is the author s comic, Prisoner On the Hell Planet, in which he depicts his feelings over his mother
s suicide. When he describes the last time he saw her, he adds that when she came to him, [he]
turned away, resentful of the way she tightened the umbilical cord (103). Art s abhorrence toward
his mother and the pessimistic view on her helplessness is startlingly selfish, and he continues the
negative tone in the next frame where when he is reflecting upon her actions. Art condemns his
mother, saying that, [she] murdered [him]...and [she] left [him] to take all the rap, reinforcing the
accusing and selfish attitude of the author at this point in time (103). The emotions that the author
illustrates with his diction and dark, macabre drawings demonstrate the negativity associated with
the event in the author s life. In addition, the attitude he portrays toward his mother before and
after her suicide in the comic give the impression that he was distant from his mother as well as
his father. The author blames his mother for for the psychological damage she has done to him at
this point in his life, but despite his contempt, it is evident he still loves her because he refers to
Anja as mommy (103). Additionally, the author s thoughts at the time of the comic s writing
contradict with his understanding in the present, which demonstrates a maturity in Art s view on
the relationship. For example, when Vladek tells his son that he used to have Anja s diaries of her
story, Art replies in astonishment and says that [he] need[s] those for this book (84). This yearning
to know his mother s story could be motivated by Art

Memphis International Airport ( Mem )
The following paper explores how Memphis International Airport (MEM), the world s second
busiest
cargo shipping airport, handles its day to day operations involving passenger airlines in conjunction
with
FedEx commercial shipping. By comparing DOT and FAA reports, along with the airlines and
FedEx s
shipping statistics, an airport capacity and congestion problem is disproved. Since Delta closed
down
their MEM hub, passenger air travel has dramatically decreased while cargo shipping has continued
to
steadily climb. Other airlines have started offering services in and out of MEM but were only able to
increase passenger travel by 1%, in 2014. The different operating schedules of passenger and cargo

Minor Mass Deprivation
A new study proposes the possibility that the minor mass extinction event on Earth about 2.59
million years ago could have been a result from a supernova explosion. It is believed that cosmic
rays from a supernova could have potentially altered the climate and led to the minor mass
extinction towards the end of the Pliocene epoch and at the beginning of the Pleistocene.
Researchers ran computer simulations of supernovas and focused on how the affects could have
changed Earths climate and biosphere. Supernovas are either created from a starthat runs out of fuel
or a white dwarfthat steals matter from a neighboring star and crosses a mass threshold. Researchers

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, and is used to specify addresses on the World Wide
Web. A URL is the fundamental network identification for any resource connected to the web (e.g.,
hypertext pages, images, and sound files).
A common way to get to a Web site is to enter the URL of its home page file in your Web browsers
address line. However, any file within that Web site can also be specified with a URL. Such a
file might be any Web (HTML) page other than the home page, an image file, or a program such
as a common gateway interface application or Java applet. The URL contains the name of the
protocol to be used to access the file resource, a domain name that identifies a specific computer on
the Internet, and a pathname, a hierarchical description that specifies the location of a file in that
computer.
URLs have the following format: protocol://hostname/other_information
The protocol specifies how information from the link is transferred. The protocol used for web
resources is (HTTP). Other protocols compatible with most web browsers include HTTPS, FTP,
telnet, newsgroups, and Gopher. The protocol is followed by a colon, two slashes, and then the
domain name. The domain name is the computer on which the resource is located. Links to
particular files or subdirectories may be further specified after the domain name. Directory names
are separated by single forward slashes

Her feelings of isolation are only intensified by the apparent lack of emotion and affection she
receives from her husband Ethan, followed by the betrayal and pain accompanied with
becoming aware of Ethan s passion for Mattie as opposed to her. In another light, Mattie s
feelings of loneliness are less developed throughout the novel, but still heavily apparent. She is
orphaned and practically family less when she seeks refuge from her isolation in the ironically
desolate Starkfield farm and mill of the Frome s. Mattie becomes so completely consumed with
the fear of losing this only source of companionship, when Zeena appeals to have her essentially
thrown out of their household that Mattie resorts to the ideal that suicide would be better than
having to return to a world of solitude. On the surface, Mattie and Zeena appear to have little in
common, but on the internal level these two share more than most. Opposite from their
similarities, the differences between the two women are very apparent from the beginning of the
novel. Early on in the novel Ethan is said to have all his life lived in the sight and sound of Mattie
Silver and her cherry coloured features (Wharton 21 27). She shows constant signs, of warmth,

Sexual Orientation, By Sarah Waters
Throughout human history, various minority groups find themselves the targets of prejudice,
discrimination, and even violent acts of hatred. One of the most notable ways in which the
struggles of these groups are documented and exemplified is through literature. Sexual orientation,
and more specifically homosexuality, is a prominent point of controversy within the world of fiction
writing, as well as through the nonfictional history of various societies. Sarah Waters Affinityis a
prime example of how history and fiction can intertwine. Waters wrote this novel in the 1990 s, but
set it in London during the Victorian Era. In order to create a realistic narrative, Waters had to ensure
that it was historically accurate, even down to the societal impact of Margaret s sexual preferences.
Though it was not overtly discussed, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries marked the era in
which ...homosexuality in its modern form truly began to emerge (Willett 351). From the start of
Affinity, Margaret s emotional and psychological flaws are exposed through her diary. She also
reveals details about her relationship with Helen, which ultimately foreshadows the outcome of her
future romantic relationships. Many of Margaret s hardships come from the pressures that her
society puts on her and, in turn, she develops unhealthy relationships with those around her. Her
isolation plays a huge factor in her dependence on Selina, another woman who appears to be in the
same position as Margaret

dental school, dr. Benjamin Leone. One of the toughest instructors we had in dental school. Getting
an a from him was next to impossible. But he taught us more, made us do our work to the highest
standard, than most others. 2. What is your inspiration for doing your job? Couple of things. From
a personal perspective, dentistry allows for a great lifestyle, giving adequate free time to pursue
whatever it is you enjoy. From a professional perspective, helping people, relieving their discomfort,
seeing the change in self esteem when we complete a smile rehabilitation, makes it all worthwhile

includes setting short and long term goals with specific targets to meet within six months, one year,

Narmer Palette Essay
The Narmer Palette originates from Hierakonpolis, Egypt and dates back to the Early Dynastic
period. The Palette is a double sided two dimensional raised relief with multiple registers on each
side. It is a statement of the political authority in early Egypt and uses depictions of the king,
those subservient to the king, and the king s ability to cause change to demonstrate political
authority. For example, on both the recto and the verso the king is depicted as the largest figure,
this use of size places the figure into a social perspective, revealing its importance and providing
enough information to infer the figures social status as a ruler. Additionally, the recto and the
verso of the Palette show the king as being the only figure wearing a large headdress and wielding
a scepter; both of which can be seen as symbols of power that further implicate the importance of

Mark and Matthew want the visitors to the tomb to be known immediately, while Luke chooses to
emphasize the purpose of the visit. Mark and Luke reveal the purpose of the visit, although slightly
different, Matthew does not discuss the reason for the outing. The discussion of the stone s removal
is also a point of much variance.
Upon arriving at the tomb, the stone placed in front of the tomb becomes an issue.
In Mark 16.3 4, there is some discussion about who is going to move the stone, and then they
realize that the stone has already been moved. Luke also finds the stone rolled back once they
approach. Matthew has a completely different version of the removal of the stone. In Matthew
28.2, there was a great earthquake and an angel came down from heaven, rolled back the stone
and sat down on the stone. Mark and Luke leave some mystery in the removal of the stone, while
Matthew describes an act of divine intervention which removes the stone. The accounts of what was
in the tomb are varying extremely from gospel to gospel.
Matthew provides a description of the angel who sits up the

Billy Elliot Diversity
Billy Elliot, directed by Stephen Daldry, is a coming of age film, filmed in the year 2000. It was
set in the year 1984. The film was set in the North of England, in a village called Everington. The
director made sure that the movie did not go off course and stayed relevant to the time period of
the 1980s. I found that the language presented in the film, was relevant to the time period and the
labeling or stereotyping used was very appropriate to the 1980s period. This was because people
were only coming to terms with the change and the diversity of men being gay or females being
lesbian. The four aspects covered in this essay will be on, Billy Elliot and his relationship with his
father. The relationship between Billy Elliot and Mrs. Wilkinson.... Show more content on

In the movie, Billy was not seen as a normal eleven year old boy just because he enjoyed ballet.
In the 1980 s gender diversity was not accepted as much as it is now. When he did ballet, Billy s
class was full of female students which were seen as normal and boys were not expected to do
any female activities. Billy did not mind joining the class and he actually enjoyed it. Billy was
not very good at dancing but he eventually found a passion and a fire within him to want to do
ballet. One of the problems that Billy faced was to actually learn how to dance. His body had
never had to have been controlled and every movement in ballet was controlled and precise.
Another obstacle was that he had to deal with the abuse and disgrace from Jackie and Tony who
were worried that Billy would have been seen as a poof . Jackie and Tony were disgusted when
they heard Billy wanted to become a professional ballet dancer. This made Billy more determined
to achieve his dream, not just to prove his family wrong, but other people who thought that boys
shouldn t dance. Billy wanted it so much that he would practice in secret. The biggest goal was
that he had to prove not just to himself but also to Mrs. Wilkinson that he had the passion to make
ballet a lifetime career and the willingness to learn to join the Royal Ballet

Analysis Of The Star Spangled Banner
Flag of our Fathers The Star Spangled Banner is the National Anthem of the United States of
America. It is a very important song that represents a free country where anything is possible.
Recently the National Anthem has been the platform for protesting police brutality against
African Americans. The protests have mostly been done during professional football games
when players take a knee or sit on the bench when the Anthem is being played. Obviously, this
has caused a controversy as people find it very disrespectful for being the way to protest. People
are upset because they think that the National Anthem has nothing to do with police brutality and
by taking a knee they are disrespecting the people who have fought to protect this country. The
importance of standing for the American National Anthem comes from respect for the country
and those who defend it, pride to be in a free country and unity of all those protected in a free
America. There are many possible solutions such as, players to donating their time to youth
centers of respecting police and working with the police to help them understand the African
American culture better but also the police teaching how important and dangerous their job is.
According to the 36 US Code 301 National Anthem, it does not break any law to not stand for the
National Anthem. The code contains a list of rules that states: When the National Anthem is
being played such as, (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of
the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; (2) when the flag is not displayed, all
present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were
displayed. The key word is should , so if you don t want to stand for the National Anthem you don
t have too. Some people believe that doesn t matter, as long as they are able to stand they should to
show respect during the National Anthem. There are people who have fought and died for the right
to live in the greatest country in the world. If they don t stand for their country one that they should
be proud to call home, if nothing else you should at least stand for those who paid the ultimate
sacrifice. I understand that the players

Effect Of Jim Crow Laws
Have you ever wondered what really happened when the Jim Crow Laws were in effect? Well i
m going to take sometime to explain what happened and a couple of laws that were in effect that
I believe were unacceptable. I will be talking about multiple laws such as the law where nurses can
only help certain people, the law where barbers can only cut the hair of their race, and the law
where even prisons don t treat the prisoners the same. Nurses; No person or corporation shall
require any white female nurse to nurse in wards or rooms in hospitals, either public or private,
in which negro men are placed. Alabama. (Jim Crow Law page 178 law number 1). I believe this
law is unacceptable, take time to put yourself in their shoes and think if you were

Mark As 3.1
AS 3.1 Analyse the Meanings in a Sacred Text within a Religious Tradition
The biblical book I will be analysing is the Gospel of Mark. This is one of the four gospels, each
with a different author who are addressing different aspects of Jesus. All believe that Jesus was the
Messiah, the Son of God. In the Gospel of Mark we have to address, through interpretation methods,
such as historical/ critical analysis and liberation theology, the revelation of the mind and heart of
Jesus and his message. This is done by Mark through the use of stories eg, Jairus daughter (Mark
5: 21 43), parables, such as The Parable of the Sower, (Mark 4:1 20) and miracles, such as Jesus
healing the blind man Bartimaeus (Mark 8:22 25). These examples point to the power of God
within Jesus.
Part of this process is that we have to interpret different groups in the stories such as the
Pharisees, Sadducees and their understanding of God. These groups exist in demonstrating and
developing their idea of God which is in stark contrast to Jesus. Another theme is that of the place
the disciples take place in their accompanying Jesus. What we see in Mark is that there is
confusion in the minds of the disciples they never quite seem to understand Jesus; the messianic
secret is an ongoing revelation in Mark of who Jesus really is. This revelation of Jesus is revealed
through his acts of compassion, healing and forgiveness.
The Gospel to Mark is the first written of the gospels around 65 70AD. It

include the geography of Branson, the city s history, and a past time that Branson is best known
for. Now since we ve talked about what I will cover in this speech, let s get into the geography of

Body
Branson is a city located in Taney County which extends into Stone County in the state of Missouri
(which was admitted to the union as the 24th state on August 10, 1821 from Missouri Territory). It s
located in the Ozark Mountains 43 miles south of Springfield, near the Arkansas state line as

Nonprofit Sectors
Revenue: The Rising Factor in Interrelationships between the Three Sectors Annotation Weisbrod,
Burton A. (1997). The Future of Nonprofit Sector: Its Entwining with Private Enterprise and
Government. Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, 16(4), 541 555. Burton Weisbrod, an
extensively published economist, examines the future of the ever growing nonprofit sector and its
increasing interrelationship with the private and governmental sectors; a consequence of the
nonprofits need for revenues to provide services to the community. Weisbrod poses the following
three questions to explain the dramatic worldwide increase of nonprofit organizations and their
heightened collaboration with private firms and governmental agencies.... Show more content on

Weisbrod explores the second question through a comparative examination of the economic
competition and cooperation between the three sectors. In his results, he deduces that nonprofits
have thrust themselves into new arenas, generating increased competition and growing political
attention. (Weisbrod, 1997) as well as a growing cooperation between the three sectors through
alliances and the commercialization of nonprofits. The evaluation of the third question focuses on
the efficiency and quality of the nursing home services provided by nonprofits compared to private
institutions as well as volunteering. Weisbrod utilizes statistics to measure labor inputs, consumer
satisfaction, opportunities for volunteers, and compensation for top executives (Weisbrod, 1997).
Overall, he discovered that nonprofit organizations are socially valuable not only because of the
kinds of outputs they produce but also because of the ways they distribute their services. (Weisbrod,

Jane Addams and the Progressive Movement Essay
Jane Addams and the Progressive Movement
Works Cited Not Included
Jane Addams is recognized as a social and political pioneer for women in America. In her
biography, which later revealed her experiences in Hull House, she demonstrates her altruistic
personality, which nurtured the poor and pushed for social reforms. Although many of Addams
ideas were considered radical for her time, she provided women with a socially acceptable way to
participate in both political and social change. She defied the prototypical middle class women by
integrating the line that separated private and political life. Within these walls of the settlement
house, Addams redefined the idea of ?separate spheres,? and with relentless determination, she ...

More and more women were becoming teachers during this period, and it was continuously
being associated as a female entity. Women were allowed to engage in certain social affairs.
Although this did not include fighting for the reduction of labor hours or the elimination of child
labor, it did encompass helping the poor, which was the immediate motive behind establishing
Hull House. Reaching out to women who needed a place to stay, or workers who could not
afford to live in the crowded and unsanitary apartments that usually stuffed several families in one
room, could find shelter in Addam?s creation. However, Addams worked extended beyond the
?private sphere? in too many areas to ignore. Her struggle led to many social and political
reforms; she took a very radical political stance for her time, breaking her association from the
standard middle class women.
Hull House was unique in the sense that it held a position in both the public and private spheres of
society. Within the private sphere, women in the Addam?s settlement house ran the household,
raised children, taught about the necessity of morals, and preached about religion. In addition, Hull
House members offered assistance to their community, which later encompassed the realm of the
private sphere. Such actions included teaching, daycare, art galleries, and libraries. ??Hull House in

The Salem Witch Trials
Introduction Throughout the town of Salem in 1695, Puritans thrived off of the word of God and
his great doings. In this paper readers will begin to understand the exact events that had led up to
the accusations against the townspeople of Salem for witchcraft. Puritans possessed strong feelings
of vengeance around the time the accusations began. They would accuse anyone even slightly
suspicious of anything other than loving God and being pure which was correct to live as such
back then. Many innocent people hung back then for being accused of witchcraft. What really
started the suspicion in the first place though? Who decided that witchcraft was the correct form of
language for such an act?

This is around the time the accusations began. The girls started calling out other girl s names
and the townspeople being as naive as they were took the girls to jail (Douglas, 2013). The judge
was following what he thought God would have wanted and didn t give the girl s a chance to
speak against the fact that they didn t do witchcraft. They hung 20 girls and 200 more men and
women were accused of witchcraft due to the hysteria the town had been experiencing (Douglas,
2013). Throughout the trials, the townspeople s opinions began to get in the way of making
accused people s statements valid. Some accused confessed to save themselves (Hansen, 1969).
Others gave their lives to save the innocent people accused of such a treacherous crime. Giles
Corey, one of the people whose wife was accused, was pressed to death using stones because he
would not tell the court anything to send his wife to death. Several years later the court ruled the
trials as unlawful. The judge apologized for the public display of unlawful injustices. Damages to
the community stayed in a turmoil and it took a long time to get over what had happened to the

Sick Around The World Has Really Opened My Eyes About The...
The documentary Sick Around the World has really opened my eyes about the United States health
care system. The diversity of health care systems in other countries would make individuals think
that the United States would have thoughts of changing a majority of their policies. The
information given in the documentary was factual and useful to my knowledge. The information
also provides me with ways I could approach my future career in health care, which is
epidemiology. As an epidemiologist, disease would be my main focus point which produces an
impact on individuals. More disease, equals more health care and more expenses. In this paper, I
intend to include details about the documentary, present an analysis of what was shown, and
express my reaction to the video. In this informative documentary, it concentrates on 5 particular
countries and explores ways each country provides healthcare to their citizens. Even though the
policies and regulations are different from the United States, does that necessarily mean their ways
are more beneficial? The author helps to explain and break the concept down for the viewers. For
example the first country the author represented in the video was Great Britain. Here, the
government run Nation Health Care System has all of its citizens covered which means no
medical bill and no one has to file bankruptcy. For a better understanding of how healthcare is paid
for, British citizens pay for health care out of tax revenue. Even though Great

  • 2. The Kardashian And Jenner Family Rules have changed since the rise of social media; you no longer have to be an actor in order to be famous. Celebrities and culture have basically become one in the media. Most celebrities wouldn t exist without the help of the media even if the media is just look for the next big scandal. The media doesn t care if it affects the celebrity in a negative way as long as the news gets the public attention. For almost ten years the Kardashian and Jenner family have been in the news so often for criticism but for them any publicity, whether good or bad, is helpful to their image. This family has used social media to maintain a larger fan base; they have given up so much of their privacy in order for them to stay relevant to their fans. The Kardashian... Physical Properties and Reactions of Period 3 Oxides PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE PERIOD 3 OXIDES These pages explain the relationship between the physical properties of the oxides of Period 3 elements (sodium to chlorine) and their structures. Argon is obviously omitted because it doesn t form an oxide. A quick summary of the trends The oxides The oxides we ll be looking at are: |Na2O |MgO |Al2O3 |SiO2 |P4O10 |SO3 |Cl2O7 | | | | | |P4O6 |SO2 |Cl2O | Those oxides in the top row are known as the highest oxides of the various elements. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What you can safely say is that because the metallic oxides and silicon dioxide have giant structures, the melting and boiling points are all high. Electrical conductivity Silicon dioxide doesn t have any mobile electrons or ions so it doesn t conduct electricity either as a solid or a liquid. The molecular oxides Phosphorus, sulphur and chlorine all form oxides which consist of molecules. Some of these molecules are fairly simple others are polymeric. We are just going to look at some of the simple ones. Melting and boiling points of these oxides will be much lower than those of the metal oxides or silicon dioxide. The intermolecular forces holding one molecule to its neighbors will be van der Waals dispersion forces or dipole dipole interactions. The strength of these will vary depending on the size of the molecules. None of these oxides conducts electricity either as solids or as liquids. None of them contains ions or free electrons. The phosphorus oxides Phosphorus has two common oxides, phosphorus (III) oxide, P4O6, and phosphorus (V) oxide, P4O10. Phosphorus (III) oxide (tetraphosphorus hexoxide) Phosphorus (III) oxide is a white solid, melting at 24В°C and boiling at 173В°C. • 4. Romania s Abandoned Children Romania s Abandoned Children Biography Nicolae Ceausescu was a Romanian activist, military leader, and president during the 71 years of his life. He was raised by peasant parents so he saw firsthand the depredations that the people on the lower rungs of society had been forced to accept throughout the many years of the monarchy that ruled the country. He went to work in a factory when he was just 11 years old, and he almost immediately began following the communist philosophies and reactionary politics. After World War II when Soviet Russia was beginning to dominate the region, he, like many of his contemporaries, made sure that they were members of the ruling class that was forming (Kaplan 81). He believed the communist ideology, and he was positioned, because of his associations, to become a prominent member of the new party. When the communists came to power, he was first a Minister of Defense, and then the head of the defense forces. When it came time to select a leader after the death of Ceausescu s good friend and mentor Georghe Georghiu Dej who had been the country s leader, Ceausescu was selected as a compromise between the many different factions that wanted to rule the country (Kaplan 102). Ceausescu was seen as a good leader by Western nations at first because he separated himself from many of the exclusionary Soviet Bloc policies, but he changed after about ten years of leadership (Pop 64). For the final 15 years of his rule, Ceausescu became a tyrant much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Inadequacy Of Free Enterprise The Inadequacy of Free Enterprise The perception that there is a need for government involvement in pensions is in large part due to the fact that private pensions are decreasingly reliable. According to Bonnar (2008), conventional wisdom suggests that private sector defined benefit (DB) pension plans are in the midst of a funding crisis (p. 21). In terms of how this applies to Ontario in particular, it is probably based, Bonnar (2008) argues, on the fact that the largest 100 companies in the Toronto stock exchange saw their median funded ratios reduced from 108 percent by the end of the year 2000 down to 79 percent in 2005. This is despite the fact that contributions made by sponsors increased dramatically during the same period from 4 million dollars in 2000 to 14 million in 2005. This is based on a study looking at the largest 100 companies on the Toronto stock exchange index as determined by market capitalization (Bonnar, 2008, p. 21). Companies that did not offer defined benefit pension plans were excluded from the analysis. Companies in the financial sector were reviewed separately because the financial ratios are so drastically different in that sector of the economy than elsewhere. Robson (2008) supports the idea that private pension funds are not sufficient to meet the retirement needs of Ontarian workers, arguing that By now, however, evidence is overwhelming that the problems afflicting single employer defined benefit plans are not just the result of a series ... Planning, Scheduling, Budgeting and Risk Management for the Desire2Learn (D2L) Learning Management System Overview Translating the many project requirements, risks and costs into a single cohesive platform to manage the implementation of the Desire2Learn (D2L) learning management system is the intent of this analysis. One of the most critical success factors of any project plan is the balancing of risk, costs and time constraints to ensure the overarching project is completed on or before schedule (Cleland, 1985). The action definition and plan design components of the D2L Learning Management Systems are defined and discussed in this project plan analysis with specific focus on timing and resource allocations. In addition, this analysis has been created to serve as the framework to guide the implementation of the D2L Learning Management System over the duration of the project. Resources for this plan s completion include the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the district, Information Systems and Information Technology (IT) department staff members, the superintendent, the vendor professional services team and the vendor training and implementation staffs. All of these teams and individuals need to be orchestrated towards a common objective and timeline in order for the project plan to succeed. • 7. The Continuation Phase Of The Maintenance Phase Second is the continuation phase which lasts four to nine months. During the continuation phase, planning focuses on maintaining adherence to the medication regimen and prevention of relapse (Halter, 2014. p. 235). Interventions vary depending on the patient s coping skills, cognitive function, availability of support systems, and financial status. Psychoeducational teaching must be done for the patient as well as the family. If needed, referrals to community programs or groups may be done. Lastly is the maintenance phase which focuses on avoiding relapses and diminishing the severity of episodes that may occur in the future. Everything that has been done in the first two stages will play a role in the maintenance phase. Another important intervention is being able to identify triggers. Recollecting data can be done by the patient or by anyone close to the patient such as family, friends, significant other, etc. Daily mood charting can also help identify triggers. The following website http:://moodtracker.com has a chart that can keep track of warning signs and triggers. Charts can include being able to track medication compliance, mood, changes in sleep, and daily activities. Being aware of triggers can allow early intervention which can minimize the severity of the manic or depressive episodes. • 8. The Right to Die Analysis The right to die has been brought to the media and public spotlight through the cases of Karen Ann Quinlan, Cruzan v. Missouri, and Vacco v. Quill. This issue has been the topic of heated debate for years in the religious, scientific, and political community. This is because this topic ties into many communities and effects a large amount of people. These cases brought the right to diedebate to the religious community. The reason for this is from the use of life support which many believe should not be used at all because people should die naturally as they believe god intended. This belief also ties into the matter of physician assisted suicide brought up in the Vacco v. Quill case, one should not be given a lethal dose of drugs and should die naturally. The publics opinion on the right to die has a drastic range, due to the fact this matter spans all groups of people. A popular opinion from the public is that the government has no right to decide whether someone can or cannot end their lives, pertaining to the case of Vacco v. Quill and euthanasia . This statement is a very true one, why should the government be involved in the death of a free person? This may be the case for euthanasia, but there is another factor in the right to die debate. That other factor is removing one from life support. This issue is brought up in both the case of Karen Ann Quinlanand in the case of Cruzan v. Missouri. The story begins with the protagonist, Gregor. He is a bony eleven year old boy. He lives in a hot, cramped apartment with his poor, struggling family. He is living in a state of frustration. His seven year old sister Lizzie gets to go off to camp, while he is stuck at home watching his 2 year old sister, who is called Boots. The rats have a hatred for Overlanders and decide to eat Gregor and Boots. A fight ensues. Gregor and Boots are rescued by the Regalians, but not without casualties. They are taken back to the city. There, Gregor finds out about a prophecy called The Prophecy of the Gray . Vikus thinks will be fulfilled by Gregor. Now it is time to start the Quest to save Regalia from the Rats. But, Gregor is a reluctant warrior. He doesn t think that he is really the one to save them all. He doesn t want to believe that the responsibility is his. Vikus reveals the information that Gregor s father is alive and being held prisoner by the rats. Gregor learns that where there is life, there is hope! Gregor now has his own quest, to rescue his father from the rats! Gregor captures the imagination of anyone who has some frustrations in their life. Legalized Drinking Legally Drinking In the United States Explaining the topic to any adult, they mainly all have the same idea; teenagers just want to party, they do not act their age, but sometimes that is not always the case. Once a male teenager turns eighteen, what does he have to sign up for by law? The draft. Teenagers are always looked down upon once they become adults, as if older adults think they are not ready for what is to come, but once they make a mistake against the law, the first thing to happens is they get tried as an adult. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many young adults do not find that fair. What the law is saying is any young adult can be tried as an adult but are not allowed to drink and adult beverage. To me, it does not sound fair to do; if anyone is considered an adult by law, than by law they should be allowed to do adult things. By law, drinking alcohol underage, or having possession of alcohol, can be a misdemeanor punishable up to a year in jail, and a $4,000 fine. Personally, this just does not seem fair. Other examples of misdemeanors are: simple assaults, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, indecent exposure, prostitution, theft, trespassing, and vandalism. So, basically, domestic violence and underage drinking could end up having the same punishment. Publically beating someone up and drinking at someone s house underage does not seem like they fit in the same category; both are punishable up to a year with a pretty hefty fine. Also, getting caught drinking and driving has the same punishment as just drinking underage. To me, this almost encourages drunk driving because it has the same punishment, so, why ... Aspiring to be a cosmetologist, it is important for me to understand the muscle system in the way that certain muscles can stimulate certain reactions of the human body. Services such as facials and scalp massages involve the movement of the face, neck, back, head, arms, and hands. By knowing the way the muscular system is organized to better accommodate a client, a better and more successful cosmetologist can be formed. • 13. My Academic Goals And Research Interests My academic goals and research interests have developed significantly over the course of my undergraduate studies at Susquehanna University. When I first arrived at Susquehanna I was a biology major and had dreams of medical school. However, by the end of freshman year, I began to develop an interest in neuroscience. Declaring a major in neuroscience allowed me to explore the components of biology I loved, while incorporating psychologyand chemistry. My research interests developed from my exposure to the various areas of neuroscience through my internships, research experiences and courses. I am currently working on a research project, with the goal of gaining a more thorough understanding of the genes involved in lateral glial cell differentiation in the central nervous system of Drosophila. I conduct genetic crosses to obtain the desired genomes and collect embryos for immunostaining. I examine the expression of a conceptual gene, cg31235, which is solely expressed in longitudinal glial cells, in the presence of the genes Pointed P1 (PntP1) and Reversed Polarity (Repo). Subsequently, I will then use immunostaining to examine the expression of PntP1 and Repo in order to determine whether they regulate the genes involved in the in the development and function of longitudinal glia. But before that I would like to share a old Chinese fairy tale with you. 1800 years ago in Jin dynasty of China, there was a farmer who s name is Wangzhi. One day he went out to cut firewood in hills, he saw there are an old man and a child playing the GO (a Chinese game) in pavilion. So he left his axe on a stump and watched them playing. He was so focus on the game that he totally forgot the time. After a long time, the child told him that as it is so late you had better go home. Then Wangzhi pick up his axe and start to go home. He was so surprised that his axe handle was rotted and mold. When he backed home his neighbor told him he had already went out more than 10 years. Of cause fairy tales are not always true story and also may sound like an exaggeration. But in this fairy tale we can know that Chinese people realize that people have flow experience hundreds years ago. In this semester we have been discussing about Optimal Experience and what is Flow and how to achieve it in class. I learned that you named the psychological concept of flow, a highly focused mental state. In your seminal work, Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, you outline your theory that people are happiest when they are in a state of flow a state of concentration or ... • 21. Summary Of The Fatal Environment By Richard Slotkin This painting shows a Native American tribe on a snowy hill. They are watching a train pass by diagonally below them. The party appears to be travelling somewhere together. Several of the individuals are horseback riding while the others are walking. ItВґs looks like they are fleeing from something, almost as these people are vanishing away from reality. This Trail of Tears that they are riding/walking on was the the path that displaced North American Indian tribes from their land east of the Mississippi River to the Indian Territory, the area that later became Oklahoma. The term Trail of Tears comes from a text that describes the movement of the Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, Chickasaw and Choctaw Nation. Several thousands of these Indians... Slotkin illustrates the emergence by 1890 of a myth that was redefined to help Americans answer the misperception and conflict of the industrialization and grand extension. In The Fatal Environment, Richard Slotkin proves in what way the myth of frontier growth and defeat of the Native Americans helped to validate the progression of Americas final stand as a symbol for whatever Americans feared might occurred if the frontier were to be closed, and the violent part be allowable to rule the civilized, Slotkin displays the rise by 1890 of a fable redefined to support Americans answer to the misunderstanding and contention of industrialization and grand extension. Sweeney is comparing The Fatal Environment to The Morning of a New Day. He argues that the reason why Farny s Morning of a New Day attract few imitators is because of the ambivalent image of the fatal environment within it. The fact that it represents the genocide of the Native American tribes was the result the dominant bourgeois group s belief in its self proclaimed manifest destiny to take the West from the Native Americans by military conquest, through technological and entrepreneurial superiority, or if necessary by outright theft. It is recommended to look at situations from different perspectives to gain a clearer and deeper understanding of the complex problems that occurred. Granted, the two disciplines selected for this research seem closely connected at times, however, through the individual lens of each discipline, that is not the case. The two disciplines Sociologyand Religion, offer a broader range of multiple perspectives, which is why they are recommended for gaining deeper insight of the Salem witchcrafttrials. To further examine the Salem witchcraft trials, one must understand the different viewpoints. In Allen F. • 24. Archetypal Theory In Pygmalion Ever since we were little children we have been able to see the world around us. We noticed that there are colors and images but we never truly knew what they meant. Then, we were brought into school where we were then taught what color is what color and how there are two types of colors: light and dark. We were taught that the light colors usually mean happiness while the darker colors represent sadness. Colors and images are how the idea of Archetypal Theory came to be, helping us discover a deeper meaning within the text. After watching the movies My Fair Lady, Princess and The Frog, and reading the book Pygmalion, I was able to discover how colors and images help us better understand the character s journeys from rags to riches. At the beginning of all three of these stories the characters start out as some nobodies, but then through the archetypal theory thrown into these pieces so we see how they transform into becoming happy and wealthy people near the end of the stories. At the beginning of all three of these stories, colors help us understand who the characters really are. For all of these pieces we are able to see how dirty and poor both Eliza and Tiana are starting off as. In Pygmalion, Eliza is described as having a brown skirt with a coarse apron. Her boots are much the worse for wear. She is no doubt as clean as she can afford to be (Shaw 1. 13). If we dig deeper into the meaning of this quotation we can see what these colors truly mean. In his interesting elucidation, he reveals that he may be just as fascinating of a character, if not more so, than the dynamic persona of his father. When he describes the last time he saw her, he adds that when she came to him, [he] turned away, resentful of the way she tightened the umbilical cord (103). Art s abhorrence toward his mother and the pessimistic view on her helplessness is startlingly selfish, and he continues the negative tone in the next frame where when he is reflecting upon her actions. Art condemns his mother, saying that, [she] murdered [him]...and [she] left [him] to take all the rap, reinforcing the accusing and selfish attitude of the author at this point in time (103). The emotions that the author illustrates with his diction and dark, macabre drawings demonstrate the negativity associated with the event in the author s life. In addition, the attitude he portrays toward his mother before and after her suicide in the comic give the impression that he was distant from his mother as well as his father. The author blames his mother for for the psychological damage she has done to him at this point in his life, but despite his contempt, it is evident he still loves her because he refers to Anja as mommy (103). Additionally, the author s thoughts at the time of the comic s writing contradict with his understanding in the present, which demonstrates a maturity in Art s view on the relationship. I took the money I was supposed to use to pay for school and brought equipment with it, he reveals. I took a big gamble . Maybe a name like Rich Boy helped his odds? As a youngster he was influenced by Southern rap legends like UGK, 8 Ball MJG, Crime Boss, ESG Too Short. The rap scene in Mobile always thrived but he admits that getting on the radio is no easy task, keeping local artists just that, local. Undaunted, he would finagle his way into the local radio station (93 WBLX) by claiming to have an appointment with a station DJ in order to get by reception. I decided to rap over one of my own beats and [try] to put in on the radio explains Rich Boy. He eventually got his music into the hands of evening personality Nick at Nite, The Krunkmonster, who started playing Rich Boy s Cold as Ice . After really listening to the song, he went crazy and started playing it every night, remembers Rich Boy. Soon after, Atlanta based rap outfit Jim Crow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Narmer Palette Essay The Narmer Palette originates from Hierakonpolis, Egypt and dates back to the Early Dynastic period. The Palette is a double sided two dimensional raised relief with multiple registers on each side. It is a statement of the political authority in early Egypt and uses depictions of the king, those subservient to the king, and the king s ability to cause change to demonstrate political authority. For example, on both the recto and the verso the king is depicted as the largest figure, this use of size places the figure into a social perspective, revealing its importance and providing enough information to infer the figures social status as a ruler. Additionally, the recto and the verso of the Palette show the king as being the only figure wearing a large headdress and wielding a scepter; both of which can be seen as symbols of power that further implicate the importance of the king. Subsequently, the king s location at the top of the social hierarchy would enable him to have control over other people. The Palette first illustrates this control on the recto in the largest register. This register depicts the king standing in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether it is either of the two is uncertain, however the mass grave depicted in the register is a definite signal of political change or conflict. Political change, especially unstable or violent political change, can negatively impact the subjects under a ruler s authority. • 43. Essay on The Three Synoptic Gospels The word gospel is a translation of the Greek word euangelion which means good news. The first three books in the New Testament (Mark, Matthew, and Luke) are often referred to as the Synoptic Gospels (from Greek synoptikos, seen together ) They bear greater similarity to each other than any of the other gospels in the New Testament. Along with these similarities come some differences among the gospels, suggesting that each gospelwas written for a specific audience and for a specific purpose. This paper will examine the resurrection of Jesus, while identifying the significant differences between Mark, Matthew and Luke. This paper will also analyze the differences to suggest the prominent theological perspective each gospel author... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Matthew 28.1 says that only Mary Magdalene and the other Mary approached the tomb, however it does not mention the purpose of the visit. In Luke 24.1, we find out that they are taking spices to the tomb. We do not find out the identities of they in Luke 24 until verse 10. This suggests that Mark and Matthew want the visitors to the tomb to be known immediately, while Luke chooses to emphasize the purpose of the visit. Mark and Luke reveal the purpose of the visit, although slightly different, Matthew does not discuss the reason for the outing. The discussion of the stone s removal is also a point of much variance. Upon arriving at the tomb, the stone placed in front of the tomb becomes an issue. In Mark 16.3 4, there is some discussion about who is going to move the stone, and then they realize that the stone has already been moved. Luke also finds the stone rolled back once they approach. Matthew has a completely different version of the removal of the stone. In Matthew 28.2, there was a great earthquake and an angel came down from heaven, rolled back the stone and sat down on the stone. Mark and Luke leave some mystery in the removal of the stone, while Matthew describes an act of divine intervention which removes the stone. The accounts of what was in the tomb are varying extremely from gospel to gospel. Matthew provides a description of the angel who sits up the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Billy Elliot Diversity Billy Elliot, directed by Stephen Daldry, is a coming of age film, filmed in the year 2000. It was set in the year 1984. The film was set in the North of England, in a village called Everington. The director made sure that the movie did not go off course and stayed relevant to the time period of the 1980s. I found that the language presented in the film, was relevant to the time period and the labeling or stereotyping used was very appropriate to the 1980s period. This was because people were only coming to terms with the change and the diversity of men being gay or females being lesbian. The four aspects covered in this essay will be on, Billy Elliot and his relationship with his father. The relationship between Billy Elliot and Mrs. Wilkinson.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the movie, Billy was not seen as a normal eleven year old boy just because he enjoyed ballet. In the 1980 s gender diversity was not accepted as much as it is now. When he did ballet, Billy s class was full of female students which were seen as normal and boys were not expected to do any female activities. Billy did not mind joining the class and he actually enjoyed it. Billy was not very good at dancing but he eventually found a passion and a fire within him to want to do ballet. One of the problems that Billy faced was to actually learn how to dance. His body had never had to have been controlled and every movement in ballet was controlled and precise. Another obstacle was that he had to deal with the abuse and disgrace from Jackie and Tony who were worried that Billy would have been seen as a poof . Jackie and Tony were disgusted when they heard Billy wanted to become a professional ballet dancer. This made Billy more determined to achieve his dream, not just to prove his family wrong, but other people who thought that boys shouldn t dance. Billy wanted it so much that he would practice in secret. The biggest goal was that he had to prove not just to himself but also to Mrs. Wilkinson that he had the passion to make ballet a lifetime career and the willingness to learn to join the Royal Ballet ... • 45. Analysis Of The Star Spangled Banner Flag of our Fathers The Star Spangled Banner is the National Anthem of the United States of America. It is a very important song that represents a free country where anything is possible. Recently the National Anthem has been the platform for protesting police brutality against African Americans. The protests have mostly been done during professional football games when players take a knee or sit on the bench when the Anthem is being played. Obviously, this has caused a controversy as people find it very disrespectful for being the way to protest. People are upset because they think that the National Anthem has nothing to do with police brutality and by taking a knee they are disrespecting the people who have fought to protect this country. The importance of standing for the American National Anthem comes from respect for the country and those who defend it, pride to be in a free country and unity of all those protected in a free America. There are many possible solutions such as, players to donating their time to youth centers of respecting police and working with the police to help them understand the African American culture better but also the police teaching how important and dangerous their job is. According to the 36 US Code 301 National Anthem, it does not break any law to not stand for the National Anthem. The code contains a list of rules that states: When the National Anthem is being played such as, (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; (2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed. The key word is should , so if you don t want to stand for the National Anthem you don t have too. Some people believe that doesn t matter, as long as they are able to stand they should to show respect during the National Anthem. There are people who have fought and died for the right to live in the greatest country in the world. If they don t stand for their country one that they should be proud to call home, if nothing else you should at least stand for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. • 47. Mark As 3.1 AS 3.1 Analyse the Meanings in a Sacred Text within a Religious Tradition The biblical book I will be analysing is the Gospel of Mark. This is one of the four gospels, each with a different author who are addressing different aspects of Jesus. All believe that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God. In the Gospel of Mark we have to address, through interpretation methods, such as historical/ critical analysis and liberation theology, the revelation of the mind and heart of Jesus and his message. This is done by Mark through the use of stories eg, Jairus daughter (Mark 5: 21 43), parables, such as The Parable of the Sower, (Mark 4:1 20) and miracles, such as Jesus healing the blind man Bartimaeus (Mark 8:22 25). These examples point to the power of God within Jesus. Part of this process is that we have to interpret different groups in the stories such as the Pharisees, Sadducees and their understanding of God. These groups exist in demonstrating and developing their idea of God which is in stark contrast to Jesus. Another theme is that of the place the disciples take place in their accompanying Jesus. What we see in Mark is that there is confusion in the minds of the disciples they never quite seem to understand Jesus; the messianic secret is an ongoing revelation in Mark of who Jesus really is. This revelation of Jesus is revealed through his acts of compassion, healing and forgiveness. The Gospel to Mark is the first written of the gospels around 65 70AD. It ... The Future of Nonprofit Sector: Its Entwining with Private Enterprise and Government. Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, 16(4), 541 555. Burton Weisbrod, an extensively published economist, examines the future of the ever growing nonprofit sector and its increasing interrelationship with the private and governmental sectors; a consequence of the nonprofits need for revenues to provide services to the community. Weisbrod poses the following three questions to explain the dramatic worldwide increase of nonprofit organizations and their heightened collaboration with private firms and governmental agencies.... In his results, he deduces that nonprofits have thrust themselves into new arenas, generating increased competition and growing political attention. The evaluation of the third question focuses on the efficiency and quality of the nursing home services provided by nonprofits compared to private institutions as well as volunteering. Weisbrod utilizes statistics to measure labor inputs, consumer satisfaction, opportunities for volunteers, and compensation for top executives (Weisbrod, 1997). Overall, he discovered that nonprofit organizations are socially valuable not only because of the kinds of outputs they produce but also because of the ways they distribute their services. Jane Addams and the Progressive Movement Essay Jane Addams and the Progressive Movement Works Cited Not Included Jane Addams is recognized as a social and political pioneer for women in America. In her biography, which later revealed her experiences in Hull House, she demonstrates her altruistic personality, which nurtured the poor and pushed for social reforms. Although many of Addams ideas were considered radical for her time, she provided women with a socially acceptable way to participate in both political and social change. She defied the prototypical middle class women by integrating the line that separated private and political life. Reaching out to women who needed a place to stay, or workers who could not afford to live in the crowded and unsanitary apartments that usually stuffed several families in one room, could find shelter in Addam?s creation. However, Addams worked extended beyond the ?private sphere? in too many areas to ignore. Her struggle led to many social and political reforms; she took a very radical political stance for her time, breaking her association from the standard middle class women. Hull House was unique in the sense that it held a position in both the public and private spheres of society. Within the private sphere, women in the Addam?s settlement house ran the household, raised children, taught about the necessity of morals, and preached about religion. In addition, Hull House members offered assistance to their community, which later encompassed the realm of the private sphere. In this paper readers will begin to understand the exact events that had led up to the accusations against the townspeople of Salem for witchcraft. Puritans possessed strong feelings of vengeance around the time the accusations began. They would accuse anyone even slightly suspicious of anything other than loving God and being pure which was correct to live as such back then. Many innocent people hung back then for being accused of witchcraft. What really started the suspicion in the first place though? They hung 20 girls and 200 more men and women were accused of witchcraft due to the hysteria the town had been experiencing (Douglas, 2013). The diversity of health care systems in other countries would make individuals think that the United States would have thoughts of changing a majority of their policies. The information given in the documentary was factual and useful to my knowledge. The information also provides me with ways I could approach my future career in health care, which is epidemiology. As an epidemiologist, disease would be my main focus point which produces an impact on individuals. More disease, equals more health care and more expenses. In this paper, I intend to include details about the documentary, present an analysis of what was shown, and express my reaction to the video. In this informative documentary, it concentrates on 5 particular countries and explores ways each country provides healthcare to their citizens. Even though the policies and regulations are different from the United States, does that necessarily mean their ways are more beneficial? The author helps to explain and break the concept down for the viewers. For example the first country the author represented in the video was Great Britain.
