Archetypal Theory In Pygmalion
Ever since we were little children we have been able to see the world around us. We noticed that
there are colors and images but we never truly knew what they meant. Then, we were brought
into school where we were then taught what color is what color and how there are two types of
colors: light and dark. We were taught that the light colors usually mean happiness while the
darker colors represent sadness. Colors and images are how the idea of Archetypal Theory came to
be, helping us discover a deeper meaning within the text. After watching the movies My Fair Lady,
Princess and The Frog, and reading the book Pygmalion, I was able to discover how colors and
images help us better understand the character s journeys from rags to riches. At the beginning
of all three of these stories the characters start out as some nobodies, but then through the
archetypal theory thrown into these pieces so we see how they transform into becoming happy
and wealthy people near the end of the stories. At the beginning of all three of these stories, colors
help us understand who the characters really are. For all of these pieces we are able to see how
dirty and poor both Eliza and Tiana are starting off as. In Pygmalion, Eliza is described as having a

contradict with his understanding in the present, which demonstrates a maturity in Art s view on

discrimination, and even violent acts of hatred. One of the most notable ways in which the
struggles of these groups are documented and exemplified is through literature. Sexual orientation,
and more specifically homosexuality, is a prominent point of controversy within the world of fiction
writing, as well as through the nonfictional history of various societies. Sarah Waters Affinityis a
prime example of how history and fiction can intertwine. Waters wrote this novel in the 1990 s, but

people really come to mind. One was my microbiology professor, a very small in stature woman
from the Philippines, who gave her entire lecture series, start to finish, over an entire semester,
without ever looking at a note. Not once. She would have been my mentor for my master s degree

the opportunity to offer more generous financial aid packages. The disadvantages for a HBCU is
that they don t have these large endowments, which explains why there are unable to offer the

character, Melba Pattillo Beals, in her memoir, Warriors Don t Cry , shows her difficult adventure

Recently the National Anthem has been the platform for protesting police brutality against

The biblical book I will be analysing is the Gospel of Mark. This is one of the four gospels, each
with a different author who are addressing different aspects of Jesus. All believe that Jesus was the
Messiah, the Son of God. In the Gospel of Mark we have to address, through interpretation methods,
such as historical/ critical analysis and liberation theology, the revelation of the mind and heart of
Jesus and his message. This is done by Mark through the use of stories eg, Jairus daughter (Mark
5: 21 43), parables, such as The Parable of the Sower, (Mark 4:1 20) and miracles, such as Jesus
healing the blind man Bartimaeus (Mark 8:22 25). These examples point to the power of God
within Jesus.
Part of this process is that we have to interpret different groups in the stories such as the
Pharisees, Sadducees and their understanding of God. These groups exist in demonstrating and
developing their idea of God which is in stark contrast to Jesus. Another theme is that of the place
the disciples take place in their accompanying Jesus. What we see in Mark is that there is
confusion in the minds of the disciples they never quite seem to understand Jesus; the messianic
secret is an ongoing revelation in Mark of who Jesus really is. This revelation of Jesus is revealed
through his acts of compassion, healing and forgiveness.
