Does Playing Violent Video Games Promote Aggressive...
Introduction Violent video games are becoming more popular among children and adolescents of all
ages since its debut approximately 30 years ago. This growing popularity is generating an increasing
concern that these sometimes very graphic videos and life like characters can have a negative
influence on the younger generation. Although never proven, there has been speculation that some of
the high school shootings across the country were committed by students who were habitual players of
violent video games. Due to these concerns, a non profit, self regulatory organization was established
in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to appropriately rate all video games
from EC (early childhood), E (everyone), E10+ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first study by Lynch, Paul J., Gentile, Douglas A., Olson, Abbie A., Van Brederode, Tara M.
(2001) was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on adolescent aggressive
attitudes and behaviors; had the participants of their study complete three surveys, the first being A
Video Game Habits Survey, which asked questions such as;
how often do you play video games?, What type of video games do you play?, How much violence do
you like in video games and are you aware of the game ratings? The second survey called The Hostile
Attributions Survey measures the participants perception of physical (harming someone physically)
and relational (harming someone through defamation) hostility by having participants read ten stories
and answering two questions about each story. The third survey is the Trait Hostility survey which
measures the personality trait of each participant. The second study discussed by Lee Suhn, Mickey
Barr, Rachel (2004), was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on Prosocial and
antisocial behavior by actually having participants play non violent and violent video games while two
appointed observers were recording information such as; the name, age, gender and ethnicity of the
participant, the name of the game, level of violence, and check boxes for Prosocial and antisocial
behaviors. The third study, Ihori

The Counterculture Of The 1960s
The 1960s brought about enormous change, popular trends, and in some cases great success. This
decade has been remarked as the transition era. ( The 1960s: Fashion: Overview. ) Pop culture is the
popular opinion on things by ordinary people . Popular culture can easily affect a society as seen in the
1960s. The 1960s brought about change in fashion and some societal norms. These fashion changes
include, straighter dresses, bolder styles, and bell bottom jeans. ( 1960s: Fashion. )
The popular culture of the 1960s influenced the brains of the young and helped make the sixties such a
remarkable era. One of these crucial trends would include the infamous hippie movement that in
effect, sparked a music and societal breakthrough. Another societal trend that would come out of the
sixties was the use of birth control and the new popularity and use of drugs. ( The 1960s: Lifestyles
and Social Trends: Overview. ) The British Invasion, which officially started on February 7, 1964,
excited mass hysteria over the arrival of several British rock musicians. Other musical breakthroughs
included the implication of festivals, new innovative music genres, and ground breaking artists. The
1960s created a new and free United States after the going through the 1950s. Many factors such as
the baby boomer generation and the politics of the time helped put the 1960s pop culture on a new and
totally different direction from what was previously seen. The music and some of the societal

Brown V Board Of Education
Landmark Supreme Court Cases  Brown v Board of Education (1954)  The Background: In the
1950 s, schools were separated by race. Linda Brown and her sister had to walk down a dangerous
railroad switchyard to get to the bus stop to their all black elementary school. There was an all white
school closer to the Brown s house, and the Brown family believed that segregated schools violated
the Constitution.  The Constitutional Issue: This issue violated the Equal Protection Clause of the
Fourteenth amendment because segregated schools for people of race are unconstitutional and
unequal.  The Outcome: The Supreme Court states that segregated schools could never be equal to
each other. The Court decided that laws requiring separate schools violated the Fourteenth
Amendment. This decision supports that all people are equal. As a student, I am affected because
people of different race are welcome to go to school where I go to school.  Mapp v Ohio (1961) 
The Background: The police were suspicious of Dollree Mapp hiding a person suspected in a
bombing. They went to her house and demanded entrance, but Mapp would not let them in because
they did not have a warrant. The police broke into her house and found evidence of crime. At the trial,
the police could not show their warrant at the U.S. Supreme Court.  The Constitutional Issue: This
violated the Fourth Amendment, because the Fourth Amendment protects the people from
unreasonable search and seizure by the government.  The

Aldo Leopold The Land Ethic Analysis
The Land Ethic is an essay written by Aldo Leopald in order to convince readers of a new view
centered around the biotic community and the rejection of anthropocentrism. It continually supports
non human life along with human life as long as it is beneficial to the biotic community.
1. Carefully explain what Leopold means by the land ethic.
When speaking of the land ethic, Aldo Leopold states that A thing is right when it tends to preserve
integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic community. It is wrong when it lends otherwise. This is
boiled down to a simple point saying that when something is eco friendly, it supports and is the Land
Ethic. However, if something fails to support the environment then it fails to support the land ethic ...

He states but just what and whom do we love? before going on to say Certainly not the soil...the
waters...the plants...the animals... (p239) Aldo Leopold despises the destruction of the land, therefore
this glamorization of the land used in tandem with destruction provided for a very disrespectful and
paradoxical view of the land. Why does Leopold believe that a land ethic is both an evolutionary
possibility and an ecological necessity? Evolutionary possibility: an evolution of the moral code. Now
including non humans. First ethic: between individuals.
Leopald believes that the land ethic is both an evolutionary possibility and an ecological necessity
because throughout the course of philosophy, there has been an evolution from first ethics which dealt
with relation between individuals (p238) to a land ethic which now focuses on the relation between
humans and non human, morally considerable beings. This transition has been an evolution of sorts
and has allowed, for some people, to broaden the view of life, ethics, and how one approaches
different scenarios that involve multiple morally considerable beings. The Land Ethic is an ecological
necessity because at this point in time humans view the world with an anthropocentric view. This has

The Use Of Excessive Force By Police Officers
Abstract
The use of excessive force by police officers is a topic that continues to make headlines and a study
that needs to be done. Although much research has gone into this topic there still is no consensus on
why the use of excessive force occurs. Some studies suggest lack of training and/or problems with
organization policy/procedures. Law enforcement officers are authorized to use force when necessary,
but when the level of force is excessive, however, the actions of the police come under scrutiny. The
resulting effects can include; public outrage, scandal, negative reputation for not only the officer but
the law enforcement community, and criminal considerations. Although there s is no concrete
definition of excessive force, police ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theoretical Rationale
The theory used in this study will center on if law enforcement agencies regularly train and practice
non lethal means will have lower cases of excessive force within their organization. Law enforcement
officers are authorized to use force when necessary, but when the level of force is excessive, however,
the actions of the police come under scrutiny. The resulting effects can include; public outrage,
scandal, negative reputation for not only the officer but the law enforcement community.
Research Questions
Is there a relationship between the Fountain Police Department s commitment to non lethal training
and its officer s use of excessive force?
Limitations and Delimitations
Limitations
The sample size in this research is small which makes it difficult to find a significant relationship
between the data and the research question. Additionally, the research instrument was distributed via
email which limits complete access to all required personnel within the organization.
Delimitations
The first major delimitation is that fact that excessive force by police officers is a relevant issue at
present time. Furthermore, the questions administered in the survey where constructed for yes or no
responses. This produced valid data from professionals within the field of study. Moreover, the
research did not cross over into other areas of nonlethal training. The study was strictly about training
efforts within the department and its record of

A Cloud Provider
ABSTRACT
Setting basic information in the hands of a cloud supplier ought to accompany the assurance of
security and accessibility for information very still, in movement, and being used. A few choices exist
for capacity administrations, while information secrecy answers for the database as an administration
standard are still youthful. We propose a novel construction modeling that coordinates cloud database
administrations with information secrecy and the likelihood of executing simultaneous operations on
scrambled information. This is th first arrangement supporting geologically disseminated customers to
join straightforwardly to a scrambled cloud database, and to execute simultaneous and autonomous
operations including those adjusting the database structure. The proposed building design has the
further favorable position of wiping out middle of the road intermediaries that cutoff the versatility,
accessibility, and adaptability properties that are inborn in cloud based arrangements. The viability of
the proposed construction modeling is assessed through hypothetical examinations and broad test
results in view of a model usage subject to the TPC C standard benchmark for diverse quantities of
customers and system latencies.

Research Based Code Of Ethics
Research Based Code of Ethics
As many organizations have or seek to establish a global footprint, it is imperative that they establish a
written code of ethics that clearly lays out what the company stands for as well as enforce it. This is
required as it will establish the acceptable behaviors for those that fall under the code of ethics. Taking
the time to develop this is key to successful interactions with internal and external shareholders as
well as reducing negative perceptions by stakeholders.
With the implementation of an ethics program as well as the checks and balances process, unethical
behavior can be greatly reduced. This will reduce ethical violations such as what was termed robo
signing. Robo Signing was the situation where

Essay On Reading And Reading
Throughout my life, I have had many experiences that revolve around reading and writing. In the
beginning, my parents waited until kindergarten to start me on my reading journey. They experienced
my siblings through their elementary years; they became bored easily because they already knew how
to read, so they did not overly teach me before I started school. Luckily, that benefited me greatly. I
grew to love education and rose to the top tier of learning in the class. Unfortunately, I do not
remember much of my early literacy achievements, but there is one memory that stuck with me. I can
still remember when I found out the impact reading and writing can have on the growth of an
individual. During the summer after my sixth grade year, my family went to Disney World. Before we
packed I had my mom help me pick out books to read during the vacation. She gave me one book in
particular that she thought I would love. As a bibliophile, she knew how to research the best book for a
light read at least I thought she did. After everything was packed up and ... Show more content on

The book had been published earlier that year and it did not have its popularity yet. She explained to
me that not every book could end with happiness. Some books needed to have realistic or saddening
endings. I had her leave and I sat alone in my room. I needed time to process what I had just read.
Through the rest of the trip, I could feel the impact that The Fault in Our Stars had on me. I could not
stop thinking about how it was different from the books I had read previously. I realized that there
were multiple types of books that I had never pursued before, which allowed me to experience
something special. I started to read books that did not have a guaranteed pleasant ending. My writing
skills increased because I was able to realize what was real and what was pure fantasy. The Fault in

Lab Experiment On The Effect Of Temperature On Enzymes
Title: Effects of Temperature on Enzymes
Problem/Purpose: How does temperature affect the rate of enzyme activity on its substrate?
Hypothesis: If the temperature increases, then rate of the chemical reaction will increase as well, and
if the temperature decreases, then the rate of reaction will also decrease.
Data:
There were three test tubes in which the experiment was held. A relatively equal sized portion of raw
potato (this contained the enzyme [a biological catalyst] hydrogen peroxidase) was placed in each
tube. Then, enough water to cover the potato was added. Proceeding this, each of the test tubes were
assigned a temperature; cold, room temperature or warm (this was written on the tag so that they were
not confused). The test tube destinated cold was placed in a ice bath for five minutes. At the same
time, the hot test tube was placed in a hot water bath for five minutes. Meanwhile, the room
temperature test tube sat at room temperature for five minutes. When the five minutes were over, the
test tubes were returned to the rack (so that they were able to be observed). Then, the test tubes were
allowed to sit at room temperature for five more minutes. Once that period of time was over, 2 ml of
hydrogen peroxide (the substrate) was added to each tube.
Once this step was completed, a timer was started and observations were made. Using the timer, how
long cellular respiration (this was noted by the appearance of gas in the tube) took to start was noted.

Averrhoa Carambola Essay
OSMOTIC DEHYDRATION OF STARFRUIT
Averrhoa carambola
INTRODUCTION
Star fruit, botanically called as Carambola, is a star shaped tropical fruit with sweet and sour flavor.
Malayan peninsula native Carambola is cultivated in many parts of Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands and
China for its fruits. Eventhough, abundant and plentiful, carambola is yet to gain popularity, especially
in the western world.
Scientific name: Averrhoa carambola. The genus Averrhoa includes two well known sorrels
(Oxalidaceae) family of fruiting trees, carambola.
Star fruit is a small, bushy evergreen tree that grows very well under hot, humid, tropical conditions.
The plant bears small lilac colored, bell shaped flowers in clusters which subsequently develop into
oblong shaped fruits with characteristic five angled edges (sides or ribs) that appear like a starfish in
cross sections. Both sweet and sour varieties begin to yield under cultivable orchards, and ready for
harvesting when the plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

flat light brown seeds about a width of 6 to 13 mm (0.25 to 0.5 in) and it is enclosed in gelatinous aril.
Once removed from the fruit, they became inactive within a few days.[2]
Carambola fruit features light green to yellow with attractive ,smooth, waxy surface and weighs about
70 130g. Inside, it s crispy, and juicy pulp can either be mildly sweet or extremely sour depending
upon the type and amount of oxalic acid concentration. In some seed varieties, 2 5 tiny edible seeds

What three advantages of Rome s location does Cicero mention? Rome had three main assets that
other cities didn t have. One, Rome was surrounded by land on all sides, which means enemies could
be seen coming from all directions with plenty of advanced notice. Secondly, the geography around
Rome gave the city another advantage. There were steep hills around all side and the only entrance is
above a deep ditch making it extremely hard for enemies to enter. Thirdly, the hills offered the city a
breeze and provided shade from the hot sun. 3. Why do you think geography is such a important factor
in the devolvement of cities? Geography is very important when expanding a city. Cities are
developed where resources including: water, soil, animals, plants, are plentiful. The areas of land with
the highest populations are usually around a water source. Deserts and have the lowest populations

Stereotypes And Perceptions Of The Media Essay
Stereotypes in Media
Ta Kendra Elbert
Indiana University
¥ What is a stereotype that is used in the media? What are the consequences of those stereotypes? Use
examples to illustrate your points. Support with research.
The United States is often referred to as a melting pot ; a place where people of all races, genders, and
colors can live together and have the same opportunities. That sounds good, but it s not always how
things necessarily pan out. There are drawbacks that come from melting pots and it has to do mainly
with the way people think about others. With so many different humans living together as a people,
attitudes and views may arise that pertain to each specific group; that is the basis of a stereotype.
Diversity brings about stereotypes, which is defined as socially shared set of beliefs about traits that
are characteristic of members of a social category (Greenwald,1998, p. 11). Stereotypes are present in
everyday society and are difficult to get away from. That statement could be argued, but nearly every
human being knows of at least one stereotype about themselves or others. If they don t, it s not too
hard to find, especially with the media being one of the biggest offenders when it comes to
stereotyping.
Humans knowledge of stereotypes are facilitated by the media, as it is one of the biggest mediums that
perpetuates stereotypes. These stereotypes fall into categories of gender, race, sexual preference and
many more. Just sitting down

Humanitarian Intervention Vs Humanitarian Intervention
Humanitarian intervention has been widely debated over the last couple of decades, causing arguments
to rise of what constitutes humanitarian intervention and if the Responsibility to Protect doctrine has
become to politicized to be reliable. These accounts are backed up on how interventions are being
implemented through out the world in various intrastate and international conflicts. Humanitarian
intervention and R2P have produced debates on the morality, legality, and operational credibility the
organizations now retain. Along with these debates, concerns of NATO and the Security Council s
actions bring to light the concern if humanitarian intervention can be relied on in effort of peace.
These questions facilitate concern and instability throughout the world, and breeds inability for peace
efforts to be conducted. As such, humanitarian intervention is a crucial effort towards peace; it
subsequently undermines the issues surrounding sovereignty and the idea that sovereignty is the
utmost importance to a state s livelihood. For humanitarian intervention and R2P to succeed, a reform
needs to be implemented within the system; sovereignty should not be held authoritatively and states
should be held accountable for their actions; regardless of their allies influential opinions.
Humanitarian efforts are based on the four principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and
independence; The one thing these principles all have in common are that they come unbiased. Yet,

Monarch Butterfly Research Paper
When people think of a monarch butterfly they think of a small creature with wings and antennae. But
monarch butterflies are way more than that. They have beautiful colors, they go through
metamorphosis to become the beautiful butterflies they are, and they travel across the country. This is
why I believe monarch butterflies are amazing creatures.
How they become a monarch Monarchs are amazing creatures because they go threw the process of
metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is the transformation of an immature form (caterpillar) into an adult
form or adult stage (butterfly). The Monarchs lay their eggs on milkweed which is the plant they eat.
Monarch butterflies do not have a live birth they are born in eggs. When the eggs hatch the larvae
come out of the shell and eat the eggshell they hatched from and they eat the milkweed the eggs were
laid on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Larvae have three distinct body parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen. Their head is equipped with a
pair of antennae, an upper lip, mandibles, a lower lip, and six simple eyes called ocelli. Even with
many eyes their vision is still poor. But that is what their antennae are for. The Monarchs antennae
help them guide them because of their poor sight. The antennae are also helpful for eating. This is
because the antennae help guide the food into the butterflies jaws. During the larvae, pupa, or
caterpillar stage the butterflies only live on Milkweed plants. The Milkweed plants glycogen toxins
which don t have any effect on the Monarchs, but this plant is poisonous to the Monarchs predators.
Monarchs eat all sections of the milkweed plant and they store the toxins in their bodies. Adult
Monarchs eat nectar from a big range of flowers, including the milkweed.

The Outsiders In The Great Gatsby
Fitzgerald chose Nick to narrate the text because his perspective creates a multifaceted view of the
world Fitzgerald portrays. He is an outsider to the wealthy materialistic world in which he lives. His
similarity to Gatsby in that respect helps us gain an appreciation for Gatsby s character, but although
Nick and Gatsby are both outsiders Nick fails to fully understand Gatsby. This appreciation but lack of
full understanding gives the reader a very different perspective than a narration from Gatsby s point of
view or that of anyone else in the novel. Nick is caught between the perspective of the man looking up
and wondering (35) and the man in the party. Gatsby is neither; he holds the party but then scarcely
shows up. Far from being an outsider to the world of wealth and materialism, he seems to embody it.
Gatsby and Nick both disdain the world of vacuous wealth, but they do so from different perspectives.
Gatsby has everything he needs to be part of it and chooses not to; Nick is caught on the edge, unsure
whether or not he wants that world, but ultimately he cannot have it. If Nick is an outsider unsure
about trying to become an insider, Gatsby is an insider trying, studiously, to make himself an outsider.
The difference in the interactions Nick and Gatsby have with Tom Buchanan show the difference in
their perspectives on wealth. Nick is a friend of Tom. He visits Tom and Daisy at their home, and Tom
trusts him enough to invite him to the small, intimate, gathering with only his mistress and the
McKees. Nick doesn t like to spend time with Tom; he says as they drive through the city Hold on... I
have to leave you here (28). He didn t have any particular reason to go, but he simply could not stand
being with Tom in that car for any longer. His reaction to the party in Tom s apartment is similar. He
wanted to get out (35), but something restrained him. He wants to leave, but he is within and without,
simultaneously enchanted and repelled (35) but Tom s party. Gatsby s reaction however, is different.
He doesn t entertain Tom or even try to engage with him. Nick speaks briefly to Tom then looks over
to Gatsby and he s simply no longer there (74). Gatsby and Tom are superficially similar. They both

The Relationship Between Sam Spade And The Maltese Falcon...
Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers
development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and
American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that
perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that the
American hardboiled novel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and the self
development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops her
protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the world and is
given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. The two novels contrast either drastically in plot
development and the types of crimes, which influences the character s views of their own lives.
The Maltese Falcon begins by quickly establishing Sam Spade as a morally complex character after
his affair with his partner s wife, even though he is supposed to be the protagonist. Sam Spade s
opening description as a blond devil let the readers begin to picture his cynicism. Readers can t expect
the normal actions of a protagonist as they can in Gaudy Night. In a sub genre of Mystery, this moral
questioning plays on the emotional mystery of not knowing fully that the protagonist is actually going
to be the hero. Not only questioning if he s the hero, but questioning if he might possibly be the

Evaluation Of Research Methods And Data Collection A...
In the textbook s evaluation of research methods and data collection a useful acronym referenced for
remembering and evaluating research was LOTS of data (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The L stands for life
record data that is obtained by looking at a person s life history. A person s life history can be accessed
and assessed by looking up police, court, or public records. The O stands for observational data which
is information given by knowledgeable observers of the person in question. This data is obtained
usually via questionnaires or other rating forms. The T stands for test data in which the information is
collected from experiments where researchers measure performance. This data is usually performed in
a lab where the environment can be controlled in order to test and measure a specific item. The last
letter of the acronym, the letter S, stands for self report data in which participants report about
themselves usually via questionnaires. Additionally to the LOTS of data acronym, sources of data can
also differ in their respective measures. Two categories of measures cited in the textbook are
nomothetic measures and ideographic measures (Cervone Pervin, 2013). Nomothetic measures are
fixed procedures that use the same test items for every participant and calculate the scores for all
participants in exactly the same way. An example of nomothetic measures would be true or false

The Battle Of The Civil War
It was a group of radical Republicans and southern Democrats in 1865 that set the tone for one of the
most infamous and earlier gridlock stories in Congress. After the assignation of Abraham Lincoln,
Andrew Johnson became president and the dispute incurred over how to fix the country. The Civil War
had left the country with insurmountable damage and Congress could not agree on how to rectify the
situation. Northern Republicans wanted to open voting rights to former slaves, which is exactly what
the southern Democrats did not want. These Republicans, wanting to get more votes, passed two
voting right pieces of legislation, which Johnson vetoes. Thus begins not only gridlock in Congress,
but also attempted impeachment of Andrew Jackson. Gridlock is brought about by valid and
meaningful pieces of legislations that both major political parties cannot agree to instate and while
Congress may not agree to pass it, most often it is the citizens that suffer. (Browning)
There are various reasons for Congress to achieve gridlock. Wikipedia defines congressional gridlock
as, a situation when there is difficulty in passing laws that satisfy the needs of the people... when the
ration between bill s passed and the agenda of the legislature decreases. (Wikipedia) Sarah Binder

the deadlock rooted in the design of the Continental Congress. In many ways, gridlock is endemic to

The Effect Of Vitamin B12 On The Body
Vitamin B12 is a water soluble vitamin that s main function is to keep the brain and nervous system
operating properly. B12 also helps aid the formation of the blood. Good food sources of Vitamin B12
are found in sardines, Salomon, tuna, cod, lamb, shrimp, beef, yogurt and cows milk. Folic acid helps
to produce and maintain new cell development, as well as preventing changes in the DNA that could
possibly lead to cancer. Folic acid is found in foods such as spinach, broccoli, asparagus, beets, liver,
beans and whole wheat products. When pregnant if women consume a combination of vitamin b12
and folic acid they tend to lower their risk of neural tube defects in their children. In this essay I will
review different articles in order to come to the conclusion of when a women is pregnant and takes a
vitamin B12 and folate supplement she will reduce their chance of her child having Neural Tube
Defects or Spina Bifita.
Neural tube defects are birth defects of the spine, brain, and the spinal cord. Usually neural tube
defects happen in the first month of a women s pregnancy. Most of the time neural tube defects occur
even before the women know she is pregnant. The two most common types of neural tube defects are
spina bifita and anencephaly. In spina bifita, the spinal column does not close all of the way, which
causes nerve damage that leads to paralysis in the child s legs. In anencephaly, most parts of the brain
and skull do not fully develop. Because of the brain and the

Comparison Of Romeo And Juliet 1996 And 1996
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most commemorated and referenced plays in the history of the world.
Because it is so popular, many variations of the play exist. Since different ideas about the play have
produced a multitude of different reenactments, lots of plays out there have many differences. Three of
these versions, Two of which are movies made, one in 1968, the other in 1996, and the last is an actual
play production on Broadway in 2014, have many differences and similarities. What we can interpret
from these variations is that even though the words on the script may not change, with time, culture
can alter the appearance and mood of the production. Romeo and Juliet (1968) was filmed mostly in
Rome, Italy. The movie featured sixteen year old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these similarities come between Romeo + Juliet (1996), and Romeo and Juliet (1968). Both
of these productions are movies, and such allows the viewer to get a better visual experience of the
script by Shakespeare. Two two of these share many qualities, such as the Montagues and Capulets
being two of the wealthiest houses in Verona, and a very open conflict between each other. The two of
these also share some contrast. In the 1968 film, both houses were Caucasian, however, in the 1996
film, there is an ethnic difference between the Montagues, who are white, and the Capulets, who are
Hispanic, except for Juliet and Juliet s direct family. Another difference is that the fight between the
houses in the 1996 version was more gang related, violent, and involves the use of firearms, while the
1968 version is a chivalrous conflict, and cheap swords, not guns, are used. What s also the same
between these two is that the setting in both of these have hot climates. Rome, Italy, which is where
the 1968 version was filmed, typically has warmer temperatures year round. Los Angeles, California,
where the 1996 film was set has hot and dry temperatures and weather, especially in the

All The Light We Cannot See By Anthony Doerr
Throughout the book, All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, there were many symbols that
were present. One symbol that stood out to me the most in the book was the radio. This symbol stood
out the most because of how the characters manipulated it throughout the story. In early scenes of the
book, it described the childhood life for Marie Laure (main character) and Werner (main character).
Werner and his sister, Jutta, spent most of their childhood listening to a broadcast of French scientists
on the radio. As time passed, Werner excelled in math and was forced to work for the Nazi Party in
tracking transmission waves in order to find anyone who had illegal radios (172). During one of his
missions in Saint Malo, he found Marie Laure s broadcasts of her reading 20,000 Leagues Under the
Sea. Werner listened to Marie Laure s broadcasts every night for comfort and while listening one
night, Werner noticed that, She stop[ped] reading abruptly and the static roars. When she speaks again,
her voice has become an urgent hiss: He is here. He is right below me (393). This was very unusual
for Marie Laure s broadcast to stop so suddenly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title of this book is called All The Light We Cannot See, the light is a reference to the light that we
literally can t see, like the (radio) wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum. In addition, the
wavelengths are also a metaphorical suggestion to the realities of World War II. There are so many
stories about World War II that have been buried and light hasn t been shed on those perspectives of
the war. This is the light that we don t see. Overall, I think that this story was about shining light onto
the parts of World War II that we don t hear about because it s been buried by the more popular

Icarus As A Mythical Creature Called Icarus
Part 3 8. Beatty had compared Montag to a mythical creature called Icarus. Icarus is a guy in Greek
Mythology that got curious and flew too close to the sun with his wax wings, this caused his wings to
melt and him falling straight to his death. Beatty had compared Montag to Icarus because both of the
characters were curious. They were both curious and got too close to their objects of curiosity, which
ultimately destroys them. They were both warned beforehand, and they both chose to ignore those
warnings and proceed on. For Montag, he got involved with books, and was about to be burned like
Icarus, however he escaped. Montag had his normal life ripped from him and thrown into another
world. 9. In the story, Montag had killed Beatty. While he did that, he realized that Beatty had wanted
to die. Beatty had wanted to die because he was miserable which is not how he normally acts. It has
been hinted in the story that Beatty may have possibly read books before and knows what is going on
with the society. Beatty had said that books were empty and are not worth to read it. This shows that
Beatty knows that the society he lives in was not as good as it seems, however he did not want to go
against the government, so he just does as he was told. This makes him miserable because he may not
like burning books that much, but burning books is his job and he has to do it. To die is sometimes the
quickest way out of all of your problems, however it is also the most cowardly. 10. It

Other countries have high unemployment rates whereas Canada has strong economic freedom with a
score of 79.1. This means that Canada provides freedom to its citizens to work in any aspect they wish
to work as long as they qualify. Canada does not discriminate against people when it comes to job
opportunities. All citizens have an equal opportunity towards employment. Throughout many years
since World War 2, agriculture production was more efficient, and manufacturing and services grew
rapidly. This is a pull factor because when you live in an area without these things, you grow into not
loving where you are and feel like you should live in an area provided with a better sense of economy.
Living in a country where the growth of agriculture and manufacturing industries is growing so
rapidly, allows for many job opportunities for those living in the country. Canada has a numerous
amount of job opportunities leaving almost every citizen with a job when they require one. Recently,
the minimum wage for employment also has gone up to $11.00 an hour. This shows that Canada is
willing to make those changes to their employment rates according to the economy in order to allow

The Importance Of The Welsh Language
I was surprised to see that such a low percentage of people speak the language of their birth.
When I first met 2 I was unaware whether or not he spoke the Welsh Language. So I greeted him with
Bore Da to help promote the language within the supported accommodation. I also feel that by doing
this I am offering the choice to engage in the Welsh language in the first initial contact. On a personal
level it means a lot to me that people will use the Welsh language regardless of their abilities of being
able to speak Welsh fluently.
Davies, E. (2009, pg10) informs us
In bilingual language mode, once a base language has been established, bilinguals can bring in the
other language in different ways, what Grosjean calls the guest or embedded language.
Davies, E. goes on to state that this is done via changing a word or a sentence to a different language
other than the primary language being used. Reflecting on this helps me understand how I have the
advantage of being able to practice in Welsh when needed. I therefore want to use this skill and share
it with others. Hearing people use such phrases in the Welsh language makes me reflect on my identity
as a Welsh born male who was educated through the medium of Welsh.
Under Part 2 of the Well being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 (2017, pg4) we are shown the

A Comparison Of The Seven Year Itch, Trifles
In the past few weeks we have read several plays, The Seven Year Itch, Trifles, and Pomp and
Circumstance. Many aspects of them have stuck out to me, such as the setting and the personalities of
the characters in them. Another thing that intrigued me is that these three plays all take place in
different time periods. The era that a play takes place can impact its direction due to differences in
social classes and boundaries and even how the opposite sex is treated.
The first play I will be discussing, The Seven Year Itch was created by George Axelrod; this play takes
place is 1952. There is a big difference between this play and Trifles; women had more freedom to do

Up until the 1940 s women were pretty much property to their fathers and husbands. They cleaned and
did most of all the housework, while men went out and worked. In the early years of the 1900s women
were not allowed to own property in their own name; the woman s property that she did own became
her husband s when married. Women who protested in the Progressive Movement were reported as
being neurotic, wanting to intimidate men, be hysterical and homosexual. In only four states were
women allowed to vote, most urban areas were less tolerable of this issue ( Progressive ). Trifles is an
accurate example of the treatment women had in the American home. Mrs. Wright was basically a
prisoner in her own home. The women noticed things such as broken jars, the unclean towel, and for
some reason, a dead canary stuffed into the quilting basket, which shown that she was unhappy with
her new life. Mrs. Wright used to love to sing, but her husband made her quit. While the men belittled
the women s investigations around the Wright home, the women pretty much solved the crime. They
did keep Mrs. Wright out of trouble by not telling the men about their new discoveries. That goes to
show that women tend to pay more attention to the finer details while it may go unnoticed by an
uncaring eye

Studying with Classical Music Will Increase Concentration...
Literature Review
Topic: Studying with classical music will increase concentration ability, allowing for quicker problem
solving.
Name of article: Does music help you study? Author: Sheela Doraiswamy Website: Mind the science
gap Date published: October 8 2012
1:Different background noise/music was used to test students recalling abilities. The test was carried
out in a quiet room with first, no sound then a steady state speech (in this case three was repeated),
changing state speech (numbers from 1 9 were repeated in a random order), then liked and disliked
music. The study showed no significant difference between changing state speech , or liked (pop) and
disliked (metal) music. All three were equally distracting. Steady state speech produced higher results
because it is easier for the brain to tune out repetitive noises.
Value: This study successfully shows that certain noises/music can be more distracting than others.
The author refers to studies conducted by universities and uses information from professionals.
Limitations: Even though classical music was not played during this study, it shows how other music
can be a distraction to concentration.
This study uses a variety of noises/music and can therefore not be considered biased. It is a reliable
source because it was carried out at the University Of Wales in a controlled environment. Although it
is does not exactly tie in with my hypothesis, it is still valid as it

Chandler Bing s quick wit and tendency to play devil s advocate helps to define him as an ENTP

questionnaire which, for obvious reasons, Chandler Bing cannot take himself. I have taken into
consideration Chandler s personality characteristics and character progressions in order to make the
best guess at his personality type. He is extroverted, intuitive, thinking, and perceiving. The evidence
of Chandler s extroversion can be found in his ability to come up with jokes and sarcastic comments
quickly. This outward thinking that he demonstrates is a tell tale sign of an extrovert. Also, the fact
that he has lived with roommates for the majority of his adult life

Areas that are typically shielded include reproductive organs, breast tissue, and the thyroid area. The
most common type of shielding is gonadal shielding. Gonadal shielding is a unisex shield and is used

they are going to be within 5 cm of the primary beam during the exam. Other types of shielding are
flat contact, rolling, flat contact gonadal shielding, breast shielding, and scoliosis shielding. Shadow
shielding is a cast over the patient s reproductive organs to block out the primary beam. Three of the
basic principles of radiation protection are time, distance, and shielding. As the length of time a tech is

Career Counseling Over the Lifespan Essay
Abstract
Career counseling over the lifespan has more than an occupational focus, it deals with the person s
entire being with a vision that includes one s lifespan. Career counseling takes into consideration
character development, character skills, life roles, individual life and work history, goals, and
obstacles. A career counselor not only assists a client with a career plan, but also with a life plan. This
paper focuses on two categories of career counseling. The first focus is the history of career
counseling as a field of study with the emphasis on when and why career counseling began (1800s as
a study of how the shape of one s head relates to vocational choice), who and what influenced it
(Sizer, Parsons, and Davis), and how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has progressed to an approach that deals with career development throughout a lifespan (Pope,
2000). Theories and assessments have developed that look at the many variables of work, personality,
interests, and needs (Whiston, 2003). The study has broadened with the use of technology and has
been challenged by the many considerations of multiculturalism (Lewis Coursol, 2007; Whiston,
2003). A creative God who modeled work and rest created man and his relationship with work. Career
counseling provides an opportunity to cultivate the relationship of God and man, assists with the
discovery of one s callings and talents, and enables one to fulfill God s plans for his or her life.
The History and Development of Career Counseling
Pope (2000) describes how social reform, economic change, and federal legislation were significant
factors in the evolution of career counseling. The development of career counseling began as a social
movement linked to economic changes. In the early 1900s, young people were leaving the family
farms and moving to cities to find employment. With this new growth and few regulations of labor,
laborers were exploited and misused. In the first decade of the twentieth century, one half million
children from 10 13 years of age were employed in factories (Pope, 2000). The end of World War I
and the Depression influenced the beginning of educational guidance in the public school system.

The Role Of Television In Presidential Debates
The rise of popularity in presidential television debates leads one to the question of it having a positive
and or negative impact on candidates campaigns. Television allowed people to see the debate in a new
perspective, visually, however it idolizes and highlights candidates to make them seem as if they are
celebrities, instead of focusing on their intellect and topics to improve the nation. Therefore one can
see the impacts of television as negative, for the media is downplaying the actual value of presidential

Television is taking the serious main focus of presidential debates and devaluing it to minimize the

Every parent wants their child to receive the best education possible, in preparation for the future. This
leads to the question, what factors determine a school more desirable for receiving an education? If
every student is presented with the same material, then what is difference between attending a public
high school versus a private high school? Both of these questions can be answered with one simple
word, teachers. Like any other occupation, the employer is looking to find the best candidate suitable
for a certain position. Schools are looking to find the best teachers to employ in hopes of increasing
student achievement, resulting in a good overall reputation of the school. Thus creating a competitive
labor market for teachers.
History:
Schooling in America originated in the 18th century, with the creation of privatized schooling.
Selective students were given the opportunity to study various subjects. Most of the students who
were given an opportunity to attend school at that time were white and came from wealthy families,
and unlike today, most of the teachers were male. The formation of public schools didn t happen until
the 1840 s, which was created by the government in effort to provide education to those who could not
afford it at the time. The most qualified teachers were often found teaching in the private schools,
leaving the less qualified teachers in the public schools.

  • 2. Does Playing Violent Video Games Promote Aggressive... Introduction Violent video games are becoming more popular among children and adolescents of all ages since its debut approximately 30 years ago. This growing popularity is generating an increasing concern that these sometimes very graphic videos and life like characters can have a negative influence on the younger generation. Although never proven, there has been speculation that some of the high school shootings across the country were committed by students who were habitual players of violent video games. Due to these concerns, a non profit, self regulatory organization was established in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to appropriately rate all video games from EC (early childhood), E (everyone), E10+ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first study by Lynch, Paul J., Gentile, Douglas A., Olson, Abbie A., Van Brederode, Tara M. (2001) was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on adolescent aggressive attitudes and behaviors; had the participants of their study complete three surveys, the first being A Video Game Habits Survey, which asked questions such as; how often do you play video games?, What type of video games do you play?, How much violence do you like in video games and are you aware of the game ratings? The second survey called The Hostile Attributions Survey measures the participants perception of physical (harming someone physically) and relational (harming someone through defamation) hostility by having participants read ten stories and answering two questions about each story. The third survey is the Trait Hostility survey which measures the personality trait of each participant. The second study discussed by Lee Suhn, Mickey Barr, Rachel (2004), was conducted to determine the effects of violent video games on Prosocial and antisocial behavior by actually having participants play non violent and violent video games while two appointed observers were recording information such as; the name, age, gender and ethnicity of the participant, the name of the game, level of violence, and check boxes for Prosocial and antisocial behaviors. ( 1960s: Fashion. ) The popular culture of the 1960s influenced the brains of the young and helped make the sixties such a remarkable era. One of these crucial trends would include the infamous hippie movement that in effect, sparked a music and societal breakthrough. Linda Brown and her sister had to walk down a dangerous railroad switchyard to get to the bus stop to their all black elementary school. There was an all white school closer to the Brown s house, and the Brown family believed that segregated schools violated the Constitution.  The Constitutional Issue: This issue violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth amendment because segregated schools for people of race are unconstitutional and unequal.  The Outcome: The Supreme Court states that segregated schools could never be equal to each other. The Court decided that laws requiring separate schools violated the Fourteenth Amendment. This decision supports that all people are equal. As a student, I am affected because people of different race are welcome to go to school where I go to school.  Mapp v Ohio (1961)  The Background: The police were suspicious of Dollree Mapp hiding a person suspected in a bombing. They went to her house and demanded entrance, but Mapp would not let them in because they did not have a warrant. The police broke into her house and found evidence of crime. At the trial, the police could not show their warrant at the U.S. Supreme Court.  The Constitutional Issue: This violated the Fourth Amendment, because the Fourth Amendment protects the people from unreasonable search and seizure by the government.  The ... • 5. Aldo Leopold The Land Ethic Analysis The Land Ethic is an essay written by Aldo Leopald in order to convince readers of a new view centered around the biotic community and the rejection of anthropocentrism. It continually supports non human life along with human life as long as it is beneficial to the biotic community. 1. Carefully explain what Leopold means by the land ethic. When speaking of the land ethic, Aldo Leopold states that A thing is right when it tends to preserve integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic community. It is wrong when it lends otherwise. (p239) Aldo Leopold despises the destruction of the land, therefore this glamorization of the land used in tandem with destruction provided for a very disrespectful and paradoxical view of the land. Why does Leopold believe that a land ethic is both an evolutionary possibility and an ecological necessity? Evolutionary possibility: an evolution of the moral code. Now including non humans. First ethic: between individuals. Leopald believes that the land ethic is both an evolutionary possibility and an ecological necessity because throughout the course of philosophy, there has been an evolution from first ethics which dealt with relation between individuals (p238) to a land ethic which now focuses on the relation between humans and non human, morally considerable beings. This transition has been an evolution of sorts and has allowed, for some people, to broaden the view of life, ethics, and how one approaches different scenarios that involve multiple morally considerable beings. The Land Ethic is an ecological necessity because at this point in time humans view the world with an anthropocentric view. This has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although much research has gone into this topic there still is no consensus on why the use of excessive force occurs. A Cloud Provider ABSTRACT Setting basic information in the hands of a cloud supplier ought to accompany the assurance of security and accessibility for information very still, in movement, and being used. A few choices exist for capacity administrations, while information secrecy answers for the database as an administration standard are still youthful. We propose a novel construction modeling that coordinates cloud database administrations with information secrecy and the likelihood of executing simultaneous operations on scrambled information. This is th first arrangement supporting geologically disseminated customers to join straightforwardly to a scrambled cloud database, and to execute simultaneous and autonomous operations including those adjusting the database structure. The proposed building design has the further favorable position of wiping out middle of the road intermediaries that cutoff the versatility, accessibility, and adaptability properties that are inborn in cloud based arrangements. • 10. Essay On Reading And Reading Throughout my life, I have had many experiences that revolve around reading and writing. In the beginning, my parents waited until kindergarten to start me on my reading journey. They experienced my siblings through their elementary years; they became bored easily because they already knew how to read, so they did not overly teach me before I started school. Luckily, that benefited me greatly. I grew to love education and rose to the top tier of learning in the class. Unfortunately, I do not remember much of my early literacy achievements, but there is one memory that stuck with me. I can still remember when I found out the impact reading and writing can have on the growth of an individual. During the summer after my sixth grade year, my family went to Disney World. Before we packed I had my mom help me pick out books to read during the vacation. She gave me one book in particular that she thought I would love. Through the rest of the trip, I could feel the impact that The Fault in Our Stars had on me. I could not stop thinking about how it was different from the books I had read previously. I realized that there were multiple types of books that I had never pursued before, which allowed me to experience something special. Hypothesis: If the temperature increases, then rate of the chemical reaction will increase as well, and if the temperature decreases, then the rate of reaction will also decrease. Data: There were three test tubes in which the experiment was held. A relatively equal sized portion of raw potato (this contained the enzyme [a biological catalyst] hydrogen peroxidase) was placed in each tube. Then, enough water to cover the potato was added. Proceeding this, each of the test tubes were assigned a temperature; cold, room temperature or warm (this was written on the tag so that they were not confused). The test tube destinated cold was placed in a ice bath for five minutes. At the same time, the hot test tube was placed in a hot water bath for five minutes. Meanwhile, the room temperature test tube sat at room temperature for five minutes. When the five minutes were over, the test tubes were returned to the rack (so that they were able to be observed). Then, the test tubes were allowed to sit at room temperature for five more minutes. Once that period of time was over, 2 ml of hydrogen peroxide (the substrate) was added to each tube. Once this step was completed, a timer was started and observations were made. What are the consequences of those stereotypes? Use examples to illustrate your points. Support with research. The United States is often referred to as a melting pot ; a place where people of all races, genders, and colors can live together and have the same opportunities. That sounds good, but it s not always how things necessarily pan out. There are drawbacks that come from melting pots and it has to do mainly with the way people think about others. With so many different humans living together as a people, attitudes and views may arise that pertain to each specific group; that is the basis of a stereotype. Diversity brings about stereotypes, which is defined as socially shared set of beliefs about traits that are characteristic of members of a social category (Greenwald,1998, p. 11). Stereotypes are present in everyday society and are difficult to get away from. That statement could be argued, but nearly every human being knows of at least one stereotype about themselves or others. Humanitarian Intervention Vs Humanitarian Intervention Humanitarian intervention has been widely debated over the last couple of decades, causing arguments to rise of what constitutes humanitarian intervention and if the Responsibility to Protect doctrine has become to politicized to be reliable. These accounts are backed up on how interventions are being implemented through out the world in various intrastate and international conflicts. Humanitarian intervention and R2P have produced debates on the morality, legality, and operational credibility the organizations now retain. Along with these debates, concerns of NATO and the Security Council s actions bring to light the concern if humanitarian intervention can be relied on in effort of peace. These questions facilitate concern and instability throughout the world, and breeds inability for peace efforts to be conducted. As such, humanitarian intervention is a crucial effort towards peace; it subsequently undermines the issues surrounding sovereignty and the idea that sovereignty is the utmost importance to a state s livelihood. For humanitarian intervention and R2P to succeed, a reform needs to be implemented within the system; sovereignty should not be held authoritatively and states should be held accountable for their actions; regardless of their allies influential opinions. • 17. The Outsiders In The Great Gatsby Fitzgerald chose Nick to narrate the text because his perspective creates a multifaceted view of the world Fitzgerald portrays. He is an outsider to the wealthy materialistic world in which he lives. His similarity to Gatsby in that respect helps us gain an appreciation for Gatsby s character, but although Nick and Gatsby are both outsiders Nick fails to fully understand Gatsby. This appreciation but lack of full understanding gives the reader a very different perspective than a narration from Gatsby s point of view or that of anyone else in the novel. Nick is caught between the perspective of the man looking up and wondering (35) and the man in the party. Gatsby is neither; he holds the party but then scarcely shows up. Far from being an outsider to the world of wealth and materialism, he seems to embody it. Gatsby and Nick both disdain the world of vacuous wealth, but they do so from different perspectives. Gatsby has everything he needs to be part of it and chooses not to; Nick is caught on the edge, unsure whether or not he wants that world, but ultimately he cannot have it. If Nick is an outsider unsure about trying to become an insider, Gatsby is an insider trying, studiously, to make himself an outsider. The difference in the interactions Nick and Gatsby have with Tom Buchanan show the difference in their perspectives on wealth. Nick is a friend of Tom. He visits Tom and Daisy at their home, and Tom trusts him enough to invite him to the small, intimate, gathering with only his mistress and the McKees. Nick doesn t like to spend time with Tom; he says as they drive through the city Hold on... I have to leave you here (28). Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that the American hardboiled novel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and the self development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops her protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the world and is given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. In the textbook s evaluation of research methods and data collection a useful acronym referenced for remembering and evaluating research was LOTS of data (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The L stands for life record data that is obtained by looking at a person s life history. A person s life history can be accessed and assessed by looking up police, court, or public records. The O stands for observational data which is information given by knowledgeable observers of the person in question. This data is obtained usually via questionnaires or other rating forms. The T stands for test data in which the information is collected from experiments where researchers measure performance. This data is usually performed in a lab where the environment can be controlled in order to test and measure a specific item. The last letter of the acronym, the letter S, stands for self report data in which participants report about themselves usually via questionnaires. Icarus is a guy in Greek Mythology that got curious and flew too close to the sun with his wax wings, this caused his wings to melt and him falling straight to his death. Beatty had compared Montag to Icarus because both of the characters were curious. They were both curious and got too close to their objects of curiosity, which ultimately destroys them. They were both warned beforehand, and they both chose to ignore those warnings and proceed on. For Montag, he got involved with books, and was about to be burned like Icarus, however he escaped. Montag had his normal life ripped from him and thrown into another world. 9. In the story, Montag had killed Beatty. While he did that, he realized that Beatty had wanted to die. Beatty had wanted to die because he was miserable which is not how he normally acts. It has been hinted in the story that Beatty may have possibly read books before and knows what is going on with the society. Beatty had said that books were empty and are not worth to read it. This shows that Beatty knows that the society he lives in was not as good as it seems, however he did not want to go against the government, so he just does as he was told. This makes him miserable because he may not like burning books that much, but burning books is his job and he has to do it. To die is sometimes the quickest way out of all of your problems, however it is also the most cowardly. 10. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I also feel that by doing this I am offering the choice to engage in the Welsh language in the first initial contact. On a personal level it means a lot to me that people will use the Welsh language regardless of their abilities of being able to speak Welsh fluently. Davies, E. Davies, E. goes on to state that this is done via changing a word or a sentence to a different language other than the primary language being used. Reflecting on this helps me understand how I have the advantage of being able to practice in Welsh when needed. I therefore want to use this skill and share it with others. Hearing people use such phrases in the Welsh language makes me reflect on my identity as a Welsh born male who was educated through the medium of Welsh. • 32. A Comparison Of The Seven Year Itch, Trifles In the past few weeks we have read several plays, The Seven Year Itch, Trifles, and Pomp and Circumstance. Many aspects of them have stuck out to me, such as the setting and the personalities of the characters in them. Another thing that intrigued me is that these three plays all take place in different time periods. The era that a play takes place can impact its direction due to differences in social classes and boundaries and even how the opposite sex is treated. The first play I will be discussing, The Seven Year Itch was created by George Axelrod; this play takes place is 1952. There is a big difference between this play and Trifles; women had more freedom to do what they wanted and some of them even held jobs now, although rather low ... Mrs. Wright used to love to sing, but her husband made her quit. While the men belittled the women s investigations around the Wright home, the women pretty much solved the crime. They did keep Mrs. Wright out of trouble by not telling the men about their new discoveries. That goes to show that women tend to pay more attention to the finer details while it may go unnoticed by an uncaring eye ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Name of article: Does music help you study? Author: Sheela Doraiswamy Website: Mind the science gap Date published: October 8 2012 1:Different background noise/music was used to test students recalling abilities. The test was carried out in a quiet room with first, no sound then a steady state speech (in this case three was repeated), changing state speech (numbers from 1 9 were repeated in a random order), then liked and disliked music. The study showed no significant difference between changing state speech , or liked (pop) and disliked (metal) music. All three were equally distracting. Steady state speech produced higher results because it is easier for the brain to tune out repetitive noises. Value: This study successfully shows that certain noises/music can be more distracting than others. The author refers to studies conducted by universities and uses information from professionals. Limitations: Even though classical music was not played during this study, it shows how other music can be a distraction to concentration.
