Advantages And Disadvantages Of Raman Spectroscopy
Raman spectroscopy (RS) as a powerful analytical method have widely been employed in
characterization of different kinds of chemical species. Discovery of RS dates back to previous
century which first proposed by C.V. Raman and his colleague K.S. Krishnan. This scattering
technique involves electromagnetic interaction of an incident monochromatic laser beam with
molecules of a matter. Each of different vibrational, rotational and other modes of molecular motions
in target molecule can alter both the frequency (as wavelength shift) and intensity of the laser beam
(called inelastic scattering) which gives a specific fingerprint through which a molecule can be
identified. Typical RS spectra involves a diagram of intensity vs wavelength shift. ... Show more

Beta2 adrenergic agonist (βAA) drugs including clenbuterol (CB), salbutamol (SB), and terbutaline
(TB) causes a βAA effect and can be illegally used by athletes to increase their performance. For this
reason, WADA regulates (SB, TB) and even prohibits (CB) consumption to control their abuse. In this
regard, Lorenzo et al. investigate the adsorption of βAA drugs (CB, SB and TB) on noble metal
surface with the aim of establishing of SERS as an alternative antidoping test method. Their results
indicates that the Au substrates and also acidic pH are optimal conditions for accurate and effective
detection of these drugs. Beside, their corresponding LOD is calculated based on Langmuir adsorption

benzoic acid (PB) are reduction of renal excretion antibiotics and treatment of gout, due to its masking
effect in urine (especially βAA) and interference in antidoping tests is banned by WADA. PB for the
first time is studied by Lorenzo et al. through spectroscopic specially SERS technique. They create a
detection protocol for PB considering different factor such as metal reduction method and pH of
media and also study adsorption mechanism in detail. They reported LOD of PB by SERS at
concentration as low as 1.2

A Journal Of The Plague Year
A Journal of the Plague Year , is a novel written in first person, told by the protagonist H.F. It was
written by Daniel Defoe and speaks of the plague that occurred in London. This book was published
about 57 years after the plague occurred. This novel is a story of his experiences during that plague
that occurred in London in the year 1665. It is a fictional book but there is a lot of data, statistics, and
even government documents throughout the pages.
H.F. speaks on how the plague must have come to them from Holland. As the plague worsens H.F.
wonders if he should leave the city or not after the number of deaths starts to rise. The main reason he
does not want to leave is because he is a saddler and feels like he needs to stay and keep up his shop.
He knew that if he left he would lose his business and all he had worked for.
Throughout his story we gain and understanding of his observations and how he was seeing this
horrible plague affect his home. He notices that the rich are leaving the city while the poor have no
choice but to stay and try and fight for their lives. Once H.F. does decide to flee the city we learn that
things are not going to go as smoothly as he had hoped. H.F. had hoped to find a horse to help flee the
country with but there were not many left. He then decides to take a servant he trusted along with him
and they leave. His sisters; house in Lincolnshire is where he plans to go to. He decides that they can

The Social Enterprise Promotion Act
Introduction
The year of 2017 is the 10th anniversary of the government support enactment for social enterprises.
Since Social Enterprise Promotion Act was enacted in 2007, social enterprises in Korea have grown
rapidly. The number of social enterprises certified by government has soared from 55 in 2007 to 1,506
in 2015, and the number of preliminary social enterprises preparing for government certification
process has reached 1,408 in 2015. Also, the number of employees working for social enterprises
increased from 2,539 in 2007 to 33,527 in 2015.
It is generally admitted that Korean government has played an essential role in this rapid growth of
social enterprises. Social Enterprise Promotion Act encompasses not only the direct support policy
measures such as subsidies, tax exemptions, and the preferential purchase of social enterprise product
in public procurement, but also establishing comprehensive support system such as long term
fostering plan at government level, social enterprise certification to secure the quality of social
enterprises, and the establishment of the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency as a specialised
public institution operated by government budget. Based on this Act, more than £100 million public
money has spent on social enterprise support programmes in every year, and about 50% of the social
enterprises total sales are spent in public markets such as public procurement.
It is one of the most remarkable social outcomes that the vulnerable

Research Paper On Affordable Housing
I think that affordable housing is a good opportunity for families of low income to have a good place
to live. In The United States housing is very expensive and the inner ring suburbs do not have enough
good properties. If you drive around Cleveland and the inner suburbs you can notice how bad the
condition of housing is. It is alarming to see that people live on those kind of houses. I think that
creating affordable housing for minorities and poor people might help to motivate them to have a
better status because they would have to find a job or work harder to pay for a good place to live. I am
not sure if this will create a racial segregation but at least it will help those people to have a better life
quality. On the other hand, I am completely

eliminate it. We could plan a series of half day workshops perhaps five, over the course of a week
during which we could walk through a set of group analysis exercises. These would help the group
understand more about the work process, what your products are, who your customers are, and which
actions might help you build a more consistent flow. Throughout the workshops, I will encourage
participants to discuss common problems and even to get things that are irking them off their chests.
The group will collect their comments on sticky notes on the board. Then, we ll spend some time

Anti Retroviral Drugs For Hiv Essay
HIV is a virus that affects all parts of the globe. However, there are two major global epidemics. The
first being in the west and developing countries. In these areas the pattern of infection is found in
certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This epidemic
is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIV spreads rapidly in a concentrated
groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in the first stage of HIV.
In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex partners and sharing needles
with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other epidemic pattern is seen in east and
southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the Caribbean. This pattern is also known as
generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because HIV is in the general population appose to a
concentrated population.
2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are
called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells, also
called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to bind and
enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The second is
called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA into the cell.

Another example is, that some service animals are not trained and some animals like birds could leave

this would be a man wants to attend a hotel for the night and he has a pig to his side if these rules didn

Adulthood In William Faulkner s Barn Burning
When does someone reach adulthood? Usually, one defines themselves as an adult when they turn
eighteen, but there is more than simply turning another year older. Adulthood has a physical aspect
where by turning eighteen a person is considered an adult biologically, but there is a psychological
aspect as well where a person is mentally mature and able to make decisions for themselves. In Barn
Burning by William Faulkner, he writes about a young, hungry, and illiterate boy, Colonel Sartoris,
who deals with the matters of right and wrong. He has to make a decision on sticking with his blood,
even though he is treated wrongly by his father, or doing what he feels is right. There are moments
where he falters in his choices after his moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The events that led up to the narrator s moment of epiphany, involved him and his friends starting
trouble with someone they mistaken as their friend and almost rape a girl, but are snapped out of their
actions by the approaching headlights from another car (Boyle 531 532). This can be an indication of
the narrator s lack of mental maturity as he is not concerned with the consequences of this actions,
eventually leading to the narrator s two moments of epiphany. The first moment of epiphany occurs
when he finds a dead body floating in the lake while he is hiding with his friends in the lake (Boyle
533). Consequently, by him injuring a person it leads him to a dead corpse of another, realizing what
his actions of acting bad could result to. The second was when he thinks back to the dead man floating
in the lake, who is probably the only person on the planet worse off than I [the narrator] was (Boyle
534). At this point in time, the narrator realizes his actions could have been more fatal than just some
bruises. While he still has to face the consequences of his actions from his parents, at least he wasn t

Persuasive Reflection Paper
I never really thought about the problem that was going on until it happened to me, it was a block hour
at my old school classes 6 12th grade were together. It was a normal day just like every other, we did
everything we were supposed to. We all gathered in the gym to do our group study thing that we
always did on Thursday.
We were asked to stand up to do the pledge, when suddenly, I noticed that some people were not
standing. When it was over, we sat back down and I turned to my friend and asked what was going on
and asked why they did not stand, she looked at me and said that it was because of the Black Lives
Matter thing that was going on and because Colin Kaepernick had kneeled during the anthem. I really
didn t know how to feel, I was more upset than anything because I was always taught to stand for the
pledge and respect the flag cause many people have fought and risked their lives for it everyday.
People were disrespecting it for a reason they don t even know simply because they saw it on T.V. and
want to join the bandwagon. I went to my principal after that and told her what had happen and how I
didn t think it was right. Therefore, the next day when I came to school they were all dressed in black
and were wearing the african garments. I at that point knew what they were doing. They were going to
protest in school the whole day. I was getting really dirty looks and things were said behind my back,
but I wasn t the only one. Another girl also had several things said

Essay about Mobey Dick
Herman Melville s Moby Dick is a book which can be read as a general metaphor for the battle
between the evil powers of the Devil versus the divine powers of God and Jesus, both try to obtain the
souls of mankind in order to assist in each other s destruction. In this metaphor, the Devil is shown
through the person of Captain Ahab, God becomes nature, Jesus is seen as the White Whale, and the
representation of mankind is the crew. The voyage of the Pequod, therefore, is a representation of a
similar voyage of mankind on earth, until the death of Jesus, during the whole thing the influences of
these three supernatural forces are connected. Thus, the basis of this idea is that ... Show more content

quot; The hand of fate had snatched all their souls, and by the stirring perils of the previous day; the
rack of the past night s suspense; the fixed, unfearing, blind, reckless way in which their wild craft
went plunging towards its flying mark; by all these things, their hearts were bowled along. The wind
that made great bellied sails, and rushed the vessel on by arms invisible as irresistible; this seemed the
symbol of that unseen agency which so enslaved them to the race, quot; (p.606)
Relating to the metaphor, this passage can be viewed as giving the possibility of God as symbolized
through the medium of nature in Moby Dick. The quot;wind , thought about in this sense, is an
quot;unseen agency quot; of the motivation of God, which leads men s souls to the right paths.
However, it is not a representational term found just in Melville s book. This quot;wind quot; appears
as an indication of God in the opening lines of the book of Genesis, and can also represented when
God breathes life into man. Another similarity between the Biblical representation of God and this
passage is shown through the thought of arms. Just as God acts in the Bible by stretching out his right
arm and commanding good or

Essay on Zora Neale Hurston
On January 7, 1891, Zora Neale Hurston was born in the tiny town of Notasulga, Alabama. She was
the fifth of eight children in the Hurston household. Her father John was a carpenter, sharecropper, and
a Baptist preacher; and her mother Lucy, a former schoolteacher. Within a year of Zora s birth, the
family moved to Eatonville, Florida; a town, which held historical significance as the first,
incorporated Black municipality in the United States. In 1904, thirteen year old Zora was devastated
by the death of her mother. Later that same year, her unaffectionate father removed her from school
and sent her to care for her brother s children. A rambunctious and restless teenager, Zora was eager to
leave the responsibility of that household. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1925, Hurston headed to New York, just as the Harlem Renaissance was at its crest. She enrolled in
Barnard College to study under Franz Boas, the father of anthropology. While there, Hurston married
an old Howard boyfriend named Herbert Sheen, but the marriage was short lived. After graduation,
Zora returned to her hometown of Eatonville to collect folklore as material for her blossoming writing
career. The late 1920 s marked a resurgence of her literary muse as Hurston published several works,
and consequently gained financial sponsorship from wealthy New York patrons. The 1930 s and early
1940 s marked the peak of Hurston s literary career. It was during this time that she completed
graduate work at Columbia, published four novels and an autobiography, and was awarded a
Guggenheim Fellowship. Her writing brought her to the Caribbean where she became so intrigued by
the practice of voodoo that she began incorporating these supernatural elements into her novels and
stories. Although her work was receiving increasing acclaim from the white literati of New York, Zora
often felt under attack from many members of the Black Arts Movement. She termed these detractors,
members of the quot;niggerati quot;, for being close minded in their criticism of her racial politics. By

CONCEPT OF TOURISM
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND OF TOURISM
Tourism, as an industry has emerged as an instrument for employment generation, poverty alleviation
and sustainable human development. Tourism promotes international understanding and gives support
to local handicrafts and cultural activities. It is an important segment of the country s economy,
especially in terms of its contribution towards foreign exchange earnings, generation of additional
income and creation of employment opportunities.

Organised sport was already well established in Britain long before it reached other countries. The
vocabulary of sport bears witness to this: rugby, football and boxing are all British sports, and even
Tennis, originally a French sport, was formalized and codified by the British who invented the first
national championship in the nineteenth century, at Wimble locking for amusement during the coldest
season.
Mass tourism did not really begin to develop, however, until two things had occurred.
(i) Improvement in communication allowed transport of large numbers of people in a short space of
time to places of leisure interest.
(ii) Greater numbers of people began to enjoy the benefits of leisure time. The biggest development of
all was the invention of the railways, which brought many of Britain s seaside towns within easy
distance of Britain s large urban centres.
The father of modern mass tourism was Thomas Cook who, on Ju5, 1841, organised the first package
tour in history by chartering a train to take a group of teetotalers from Leicester to a rally in
Southborough, some twenty miles away. Cook immediately saw the potential for business
development in the sector, and became the world s first tour operator. Others soon followed him, with
the result that the tourist

Sully Film Analysis
When Warner Bros. released Sully earlier this year, I thought it looked decent. I assumed Tom Hanks
would give a reliably good performance as the titular pilot. I guessed Clint Eastwood would tell the
story effectively. I even speculated that the film might garner some attention from the Oscars. While I
cannot yet speak to that less assumption, my other feelings about Sully proved true.
This film, billed as the untold story behind the miracle on the Hudson, stars Hanks as Captain Chesley
Sully Sullenberger, the pilot who landed his aircraft on the Hudson river after a freak accident in 2009.
Rather than simply telling the story leading up to the forced water landing, however, the picture
chronicles the tumultuous aftermath of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I specifically think of the passengers calling their loved ones, finding their fellow passengers alive
after the landing and thanking Sully as moments that made me choke up a little. Another highlight is
the simple reaction shots that Eastwood shows us of businesspeople in the skyscrapers as they see a
plane hurtling toward the city. That was as a simple and understated way to underscore the heroism of
Sully s action by making us visualize the alternative.
With all that being said, the storytelling here wasn t flawless. Sully takes a somewhat unconventional
approach by showing the aftermath of the crash and focusing on the investigation, but for the most
part the film felt safe and predictable. Every plot beat and character action, even the effective ones,
felt generic and familiar, but in a bad way. I m not sure what I would have wanted the filmmakers to
do instead, but they should have done something to switch things up a little.
Nevertheless, Sully is still a very good movie. Hanks is quite good and Eckhart does well in his role.
The story is economical and moving, even if a little too safe. Sully probably isn t going to be most
people s favorite movie of the year, but it has earned a spot on top 10 lists for 2016, even if it s in the

Coney Island Essay
Progressivism was at the peak of its movement in America during the new era of Coney Island and
was observed by many critics. Progressives at the time liked to focus on order and to decrease
activities that took away from the structure of life. It was the goal of progressives to address any
political or local problems, especially those focusing on an increase in industrialization among urban
societies and cultures (Textbook, 778). Kasson states in his book that it was the goal of progressives to
reform society back to work and profit, but the engineering of the amusement parks and its influence
was all incorrect to society (104 105). The book focuses slightly on how Progressives used their
movement to attack others who did not agree with their political and economic beliefs. Whereas,
Kasson explains Progressives as a voice of opinion during this time that believed there was a way to

of Coney Island. For example, he is biased to the belief that Coney Island was a time of a developing

and then decline of Dreamland (Textbook). The insanely descriptive details of Steeplechase, Luna
Park and Dreamland offer an image for the reader to truly believe that he supports his argument that
Coney Island was the transformation of a new society based on urban reform and industrial success
within a new mass culture. He explains the growth of railroads, hotels, architecture, shows and
creative amusement rides never seen before that stunned the nation. These aspects all backed up

The Ethics of Online Medical Records
Abstract: This paper describes the ethical implications of developing a national online medical
database. Such a database would contain the lifetime health records of every U.S. resident by
combining information from a variety of sources. The advantages of such a system are many, but in
the end, the question remains whether patients want to trade privacy for better healthcare.
A lonely ninety year old Chinese woman walks into a clinic. Without any medical records, the
physicians diagnose her with stroke, and she is immediately hospitalized. Two days later, her son
arrives at the hospital, apparently quite angry with the doctors. He informs the physicians that her
mother has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, the medical records of most Americans are scattered across multiple clinics and hospitals,
possibly across several states. The task of piecing together a patient s medical history can become
quite time consuming and laborious, as the files first need to be located and then faxed [5]. The
possibility of combining medical records into a central medical database would solve many of these
problems, as well as bring new benefits. With a shared medical database, doctors would have vital
information about a patient at their fingertips. Very little time would be lost in looking for a patient s
medical records and piecing the data together.
A shared medical database would save lives by providing accurate and complete information to
doctors, especially those not familiar with their patients. For instance, if a person had a serious
accident while vacationing in a different state, the doctors there would have instant access to his
medical records in his home state. Locating the patient s family doctor and faxing the patient s
medical history would be unnecessary. If the patient has allergies to certain drugs, the doctors would
be aware of it, thus avoiding further complications [6]. With more complete information, doctors
would be given the power to treat an unfamiliar, out of state patients in a timely and effective manner.
Sharing medical data would also enormously benefit organizations

The solution was to invest in what became know as the Third World and the result was imperialism.
For Hobson, imperialism did not benefit the country as a whole but only a selected group of
industrialists and financiers.
Lenin s regarded Imperialism as the highest stage of Capitalism was interested to explain the necessity
for capitalist exploitation of lesser developed countries and the causes of war among advanced
capitalist states . Also accepted that underconcumption and overproduction caused capitalists to look
for markets in the less developed states and to engage in Imperialism. Lenin also believed that
imperialist policies reflected the existence of monopoly and finance capital. capitalism had developed
such that oligopolies and monopolies controlled the key sectors of the economy , pushing out the
smaller and bleeding the domestic markets dry and so this led to the need to look elsewhere for
investment opportunities.
Marx believed that the growth of proletarian consciousness would result in revolution within capitalist
countries. But for Lenin, imperialism explained why Marx s revolution had failed to come about. The
tensions within capitalism still existed but Imperialism provided the capitalists with a breathing space.

The Model Of A Health Care Delivery System
Abstract
Roemer s model of a health care delivery system shows the different necessary elements for a system
to be successful. As health needs are the input; the system needs resources, organization of programs,
economic support mechanisms, and delivery of services to provide the health needs output (Roemer, p
33). Able 2 is an organization that provides services to people with disabilities. They have many
resources, but perhaps not enough to meet the health needs of every consumer. They have well
organized programs, have economic support, and can deliver services completely and holistically to
produce health as the output of the client. The most important implication that was found in analyzing
Able 2 was the need for increased resources as they are not able to meet the needs for every client in
need of its services. Ultimately though, Able 2 is an excellent organization that provides an array of
services for those people with disabilities.
Finance Mechanisms
Economic support mechanisms are one of the major components needed in a health care delivery
system (Roemer, p 33). Without income, an organization would fail. Able 2 is a non profit
organization (NPO) and a non government organization (NGO) in the private sector. They have been
tax exempt both by state and federal taxes since 1978. Under the umbrella of an NPO, its purpose
must be charitable and all revenue, after normal expenditures, must serve the public s interest
(DeMartinis, 2005). In 2013, income

The Truth About Princesses in Fairy Tales
Once given birth to a beautiful baby girl, often parents refer to her as their little princess; when having

The Authors niece is obviously familiarized with the Princess like story tales. These young girls learn

prince charming she expects that a marriage will happen, perhaps forever royalty and enchanted life

Clinical Trial Essay
Clinical trials are often designed to test new biomedical or behavioral interventions such as new
treatments/drugs, prevention strategies, screening programs, diagnostic tests, and educational models.
The rapid increase in the costs of conducting clinical trials has made the efficient design of clinical
trials more important in recent years. For example, a new report published by Tufts Center for the
Study of Drug Development (CSDD) expresses that the costs of new drug development which is one
of the wide applications of clinical trials have been pegged at $2.558 billion, with a 145% increase
over an estimate made in 2003 [9].
2. Clinical trial classification
Clinical trials are divided into two main classes based on how participants are allocated to different
interventions: randomized and non randomized controlled trials [21]. Non randomized trials (also
called quasi experiment) assign participants to the treatments, procedures, or interventions by methods
that are not random. These trials are used when randomization is impractical and/or unethical. They
are typically easier to set up than randomized trials which need random assignment of subjects. Lack

subjects receive interventions A only, B only, both A and B, or neither A or B. Thus, the factorial

between two interventions (or treatments). For this reason, this trial design can be viewed as an
efficient way to conduct two trials in one. However, it is not recommended when comparing the two

Throughout the semester, we have read several different detective stories, looking into each detective s
characteristics, as well as the characteristics of supporting characters, examining how detectives are
able to solve the case when nobody else can. Each detective we have read this semester has different
ways to solve a crime, but there are also ways to connect these different detectives. Based on the
examples of Sergeant Cuff in The Moonstone, Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and
Father Brown in Father Brown: The Essential Tales, a successful detective must love what they do,
have trust that is hard to earn by others, and they are very detailed in their searches. Without the

believing that Miss Rachel could be guilty of taking the moonstone. Cuff understands why Betteredge

love for being a detective because he is being criticized by Betteredge, accepts what he says, and tells
him that he can come back if need be. He kept the conversation very professional and hopes to come
back in order to solve the case. In The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle, we see

symptoms are usually begin with minor arm jerks and some facial twitches. Then following these
symptoms tremors spread to various parts of the body and then it develops into writhing. People start
to lose the ability to learn or improve motor skills. Basically what is going on in the brain is, the
output from the basal ganglia is inhibitory to the thalamus, and damage to the basal ganglia leads to
increased activity in motor areas of the Thelma s. This increase produces the involuntary jerking
movements. People with Huntington s disease suffer from psychological disorders as well. Sometimes
in the early stages of Huntington s disease people are misdiagnose with having schizophrenia. The

First is innovative thinking. The mind guides the individual s actions, and the actions shape the future.
The key is to give equal emphasis to both knowledge and actions, and to let actions speak louder than

Improving Healthy Development And Maintaining Strong...
Introduction
Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations
High Commission for Human Rights (Ginsburg, 2007, p 182). There is no opposing argument to the
statement that play is essential to children and youth in all domains of development. Although certain
types of play may be more meaningful in terms of development, any kind of play is better than no play
at all. The Importance of Play in Promoting Healthy Child Development and Maintaining Strong
Parent Child Bonds examines and reflects on Ginsburg s research on the importance of play during
childhood development and guidelines for pediatricians on how to advocate for children in terms of
protected play and a balanced lifestyle during development. In this journal, I found why play is
beneficial, the consequences of reduced play, and the factors in the ever changing routine of
childhood, why this change is a problem, the effect this change has on many families, and some
proposed solutions, as well as advice on how to promote healthy development and growth through

Are strikes the most beneficial way of resolving labour management conflict? Or are alternative forms
of coping more beneficial?. Throughout this paper I will attempt to answer these questions by, first
giving a description of each of these forms of coping. Then I will examine the effects, both positive
and negative, that each of these forms of coping has on the collective bargaining process as well as the

effectiveness of alternative forms of coping.

Secondly, they can fire anyone who takes part in sabotage or violence during a strike. Third, they can
discontinue benefits during a strike, and they do not have to follow the old agreement, they can change
the terms and conditions of employment until a new agreement is reached. The benefits of striking
include higher wages, more benefits, better working conditions, etc... There is also a negative side to
striking. If management decides to hire replacement workers during your absence, you may not have a
job to return to. Management may be prepared to leave you on strike for long periods of time, for
example, Federated
Co Op allowed the workers in Nipawan to stay on strike for seven years. Also during a strike you are
not receiving a paycheck, unions usually try to pay strikers, but this is usually a fraction of your old
paycheck. Finally during a long strike, the company may have not been able to meet its orders and
may have lost business, this could lead to layoffs when a settlement is reached. Strikes are most
common among highly skilled workers, because they possess a lot of strike power. Strike power is
what it would cost management if you went on strike. If you are a worker at a fast food restaurant you
possess very little strike power because in the event of a strike you could easily be replaced. But if you
have a highly skilled job, it will cost management to hire and train someone to replace you. Striking
does not, in most cases, alter the labor

The Effect Of Self- Control On Children
An experiment that explores the self control in children. A way to test one s willpower and the
willingness to delay gratification in order to achieve a higher goal. These statements all fit into what
Walter Mischel was trying to prove in his Marshmallow Test. This experiment was based on the effect
marshmallows and other sweets have on children and their willpower when it comes to waiting to
have it. With this purpose, the view of human nature that is felt presently, will change profoundly. The
key to success comes from direct correlation of self control and willpower because after all, self
control is a central function of [understanding] the self (Baumeister). Walter Mischel was a
psychologist who focused on personality structure, process, and development, and in self regulation
(Plous). His primary interests, when looking at his studies, all include the relation to the mind, and its
effect on action. They consist of emotion, mood, motivation, goal setting, self and identity, and social
cognition (Plous). The fact that his studies all relate to each other, gives an advantage when creating
an experiment. The advantage is the fact that he will be comfortable with what is being studied and the
results that come in. With the background of looking at goal setting and motivation that he has, it
gives this experiment more credibility as a whole. The test was put in place to be made toward kids
and their reactions when it comes to having a plate of treats such as

statement supporting Lake Powell. Certainly it is no longer a wilderness, but it has a photogenic

details. I will be the first to admit that the creating of any reservoir will kill any life that it floods out,
which is obvious, but in this case I believe that the pros far outweigh the cons. Abbey used omission
of details to make it seem that the reservoir had killed all wildlife in that area and desolated the

This posits the idea that cultural historians were accurate in suggesting that this was a crucial decade
for the politicization of homosexuality.
The 1950 s were in fact the turning point of change. `The Mattachine Foundation , later re named `The

was to raise consciousness among gay men, challenge anti gay discrimination and build a positive
homosexual community and culture. This proved nothing less than an arduous struggle with much
opposition, illustrated by the infamous `Stonewall night. A night that set America alight with gay
rights and conflicts. The name `Mattachine was meant to symbolise that fact that gays were a masked
people, unknown and anonymous. This illustrates the traditional 1950 s attitude towards
homosexuality; the problem was thought to cease to exist if ignored. Homosexuals were un natural,
sacrilegious, and in need of control and subjugation.
These movements, although insurgent, had little impact upon attitudes, particularly in the literary

Discovery of RS dates back to previous century which first proposed by C.V. Raman and his colleague K.S. Krishnan. This scattering technique involves electromagnetic interaction of an incident monochromatic laser beam with molecules of a matter. Each of different vibrational, rotational and other modes of molecular motions in target molecule can alter both the frequency (as wavelength shift) and intensity of the laser beam (called inelastic scattering) which gives a specific fingerprint through which a molecule can be identified. Typical RS spectra involves a diagram of intensity vs wavelength shift. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beta2 adrenergic agonist (βAA) drugs including clenbuterol (CB), salbutamol (SB), and terbutaline (TB) causes a βAA effect and can be illegally used by athletes to increase their performance. For this reason, WADA regulates (SB, TB) and even prohibits (CB) consumption to control their abuse. In this regard, Lorenzo et al. investigate the adsorption of βAA drugs (CB, SB and TB) on noble metal surface with the aim of establishing of SERS as an alternative antidoping test method. Their results indicates that the Au substrates and also acidic pH are optimal conditions for accurate and effective detection of these drugs. Beside, their corresponding LOD is calculated based on Langmuir adsorption and given in table 3. Although the major therapeutic uses of probenecid (p (dipropylsulphamyl) benzoic acid (PB) are reduction of renal excretion antibiotics and treatment of gout, due to its masking effect in urine (especially βAA) and interference in antidoping tests is banned by WADA. Since Social Enterprise Promotion Act was enacted in 2007, social enterprises in Korea have grown rapidly. The number of social enterprises certified by government has soared from 55 in 2007 to 1,506 in 2015, and the number of preliminary social enterprises preparing for government certification process has reached 1,408 in 2015. Also, the number of employees working for social enterprises increased from 2,539 in 2007 to 33,527 in 2015. It is generally admitted that Korean government has played an essential role in this rapid growth of social enterprises. Social Enterprise Promotion Act encompasses not only the direct support policy measures such as subsidies, tax exemptions, and the preferential purchase of social enterprise product in public procurement, but also establishing comprehensive support system such as long term fostering plan at government level, social enterprise certification to secure the quality of social enterprises, and the establishment of the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency as a specialised public institution operated by government budget. Based on this Act, more than £100 million public money has spent on social enterprise support programmes in every year, and about 50% of the social enterprises total sales are spent in public markets such as public procurement. In The United States housing is very expensive and the inner ring suburbs do not have enough good properties. If you drive around Cleveland and the inner suburbs you can notice how bad the condition of housing is. It is alarming to see that people live on those kind of houses. I think that creating affordable housing for minorities and poor people might help to motivate them to have a better status because they would have to find a job or work harder to pay for a good place to live. • 9. Anti Retroviral Drugs For Hiv Essay HIV is a virus that affects all parts of the globe. However, there are two major global epidemics. The first being in the west and developing countries. In these areas the pattern of infection is found in certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This epidemic is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIV spreads rapidly in a concentrated groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in the first stage of HIV. In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex partners and sharing needles with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other epidemic pattern is seen in east and southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the Caribbean. This pattern is also known as generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because HIV is in the general population appose to a concentrated population. 2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells, also called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to bind and enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The second is called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA into the cell. Usually, one defines themselves as an adult when they turn eighteen, but there is more than simply turning another year older. Adulthood has a physical aspect where by turning eighteen a person is considered an adult biologically, but there is a psychological aspect as well where a person is mentally mature and able to make decisions for themselves. In Barn Burning by William Faulkner, he writes about a young, hungry, and illiterate boy, Colonel Sartoris, who deals with the matters of right and wrong. Essay about Mobey Dick Herman Melville s Moby Dick is a book which can be read as a general metaphor for the battle between the evil powers of the Devil versus the divine powers of God and Jesus, both try to obtain the souls of mankind in order to assist in each other s destruction. In this metaphor, the Devil is shown through the person of Captain Ahab, God becomes nature, Jesus is seen as the White Whale, and the representation of mankind is the crew. The voyage of the Pequod, therefore, is a representation of a similar voyage of mankind on earth, until the death of Jesus, during the whole thing the influences of these three supernatural forces are connected. The wind that made great bellied sails, and rushed the vessel on by arms invisible as irresistible; this seemed the symbol of that unseen agency which so enslaved them to the race, quot; (p.606) Relating to the metaphor, this passage can be viewed as giving the possibility of God as symbolized through the medium of nature in Moby Dick. The quot;wind , thought about in this sense, is an quot;unseen agency quot; of the motivation of God, which leads men s souls to the right paths. However, it is not a representational term found just in Melville s book. The vocabulary of sport bears witness to this: rugby, football and boxing are all British sports, and even Tennis, originally a French sport, was formalized and codified by the British who invented the first national championship in the nineteenth century, at Wimble locking for amusement during the coldest season. Mass tourism did not really begin to develop, however, until two things had occurred. (i) Improvement in communication allowed transport of large numbers of people in a short space of time to places of leisure interest. (ii) Greater numbers of people began to enjoy the benefits of leisure time. The biggest development of all was the invention of the railways, which brought many of Britain s seaside towns within easy distance of Britain s large urban centres. The father of modern mass tourism was Thomas Cook who, on Ju5, 1841, organised the first package tour in history by chartering a train to take a group of teetotalers from Leicester to a rally in Southborough, some twenty miles away. I guessed Clint Eastwood would tell the story effectively. I even speculated that the film might garner some attention from the Oscars. While I cannot yet speak to that less assumption, my other feelings about Sully proved true. This film, billed as the untold story behind the miracle on the Hudson, stars Hanks as Captain Chesley Sully Sullenberger, the pilot who landed his aircraft on the Hudson river after a freak accident in 2009. That was as a simple and understated way to underscore the heroism of Sully s action by making us visualize the alternative. With all that being said, the storytelling here wasn t flawless. Sully takes a somewhat unconventional approach by showing the aftermath of the crash and focusing on the investigation, but for the most part the film felt safe and predictable. Every plot beat and character action, even the effective ones, felt generic and familiar, but in a bad way. I m not sure what I would have wanted the filmmakers to do instead, but they should have done something to switch things up a little. Nevertheless, Sully is still a very good movie. • 24. The Model Of A Health Care Delivery System Abstract Roemer s model of a health care delivery system shows the different necessary elements for a system to be successful. As health needs are the input; the system needs resources, organization of programs, economic support mechanisms, and delivery of services to provide the health needs output (Roemer, p 33). Able 2 is an organization that provides services to people with disabilities. They have many resources, but perhaps not enough to meet the health needs of every consumer. They have well organized programs, have economic support, and can deliver services completely and holistically to produce health as the output of the client. The most important implication that was found in analyzing Able 2 was the need for increased resources as they are not able to meet the needs for every client in need of its services. Ultimately though, Able 2 is an excellent organization that provides an array of services for those people with disabilities. Finance Mechanisms Economic support mechanisms are one of the major components needed in a health care delivery system (Roemer, p 33). Without income, an organization would fail. Able 2 is a non profit organization (NPO) and a non government organization (NGO) in the private sector. They have been tax exempt both by state and federal taxes since 1978. Non randomized trials (also called quasi experiment) assign participants to the treatments, procedures, or interventions by methods that are not random. These trials are used when randomization is impractical and/or unethical. They are typically easier to set up than randomized trials which need random assignment of subjects. • 27. Sergeant Cuff In The Hound Of The Baskervilles, And Father... Throughout the semester, we have read several different detective stories, looking into each detective s characteristics, as well as the characteristics of supporting characters, examining how detectives are able to solve the case when nobody else can. Each detective we have read this semester has different ways to solve a crime, but there are also ways to connect these different detectives. Based on the examples of Sergeant Cuff in The Moonstone, Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Father Brown in Father Brown: The Essential Tales, a successful detective must love what they do, have trust that is hard to earn by others, and they are very detailed in their searches. It it s any comfort to you, collar me again (Collins, 143). Before this quotation, Betteredge calls out Sergeant Cuff for believing that Miss Rachel could be guilty of taking the moonstone. Cuff understands why Betteredge is upset and knows not to accuse Rachel of anything without complete evidence. This shows Cuff s love for being a detective because he is being criticized by Betteredge, accepts what he says, and tells him that he can come back if need be. He kept the conversation very professional and hopes to come back in order to solve the case. In The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle, we see Sherlock who loves being a detective as well. In the beginning of the novel, Dr. James Mortimer comes to Sherlock and Watson for help, saying that he came to the second highest expert in Europe. In response, Sherlock says, Indeed, sir! China s Drive Toward Ecological Civilization Moreover, China s drive toward ecological civilization will have far reaching global impacts and relevance in fundamentally resolving deep rooted problems in environment and development. Taking improving environmental quality as our core task, we ve put in place the most stringent environmental protection system; launched comprehensive campaigns on air, water, and soil pollution prevention and control; enhanced enforcement of laws and regulations; accelerated and deepened reforms; promoted a green way of life and production and provided more quality ecological products for the people. These measures will yield a beautiful China with blue sky, fresh air, and clean soil. Meanwhile, we are also keenly aware of the significance of innovation in pursuit of sustainable development, especially in two dimensions. First is innovative thinking. The mind guides the individual s actions, and the actions shape the future. The key is to give equal emphasis to both knowledge and actions, and to let actions speak louder than words. But in reality, to do is difficult while to know is easy. Achieving sustainable development is no exception. We need to foster a favorable environment to mobilize society and encourage everyone to take actions voluntarily and consciously. Sustainable development will require a sustainable way of thinking about production, consumption, development, and management to help people consciously change their behaviors. Then I will examine the effects, both positive and negative, that each of these forms of coping has on the collective bargaining process as well as the labor management relationship. Secondly, they can fire anyone who takes part in sabotage or violence during a strike. Third, they can discontinue benefits during a strike, and they do not have to follow the old agreement, they can change the terms and conditions of employment until a new agreement is reached. The benefits of striking include higher wages, more benefits, better working conditions, etc... There is also a negative side to striking. If management decides to hire replacement workers during your absence, you may not have a job to return to. Management may be prepared to leave you on strike for long periods of time, for example, Federated Co Op allowed the workers in Nipawan to stay on strike for seven years. Also during a strike you are not receiving a paycheck, unions usually try to pay strikers, but this is usually a fraction of your old paycheck. Finally during a long strike, the company may have not been able to meet its orders and may have lost business, this could lead to layoffs when a settlement is reached. Strikes are most common among highly skilled workers, because they possess a lot of strike power. Strike power is what it would cost management if you went on strike. If you are a worker at a fast food restaurant you possess very little strike power because in the event of a strike you could easily be replaced. But if you have a highly skilled job, it will cost management to hire and train someone to replace you. Striking does not, in most cases, alter the labor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Effect Of Self- Control On Children An experiment that explores the self control in children. A way to test one s willpower and the willingness to delay gratification in order to achieve a higher goal. These statements all fit into what Walter Mischel was trying to prove in his Marshmallow Test. This experiment was based on the effect marshmallows and other sweets have on children and their willpower when it comes to waiting to have it. With this purpose, the view of human nature that is felt presently, will change profoundly. The key to success comes from direct correlation of self control and willpower because after all, self control is a central function of [understanding] the self (Baumeister). Walter Mischel was a psychologist who focused on personality structure, process, and development, and in self regulation (Plous). His primary interests, when looking at his studies, all include the relation to the mind, and its effect on action. They consist of emotion, mood, motivation, goal setting, self and identity, and social cognition (Plous). The fact that his studies all relate to each other, gives an advantage when creating an experiment. The advantage is the fact that he will be comfortable with what is being studied and the results that come in. With the background of looking at goal setting and motivation that he has, it gives this experiment more credibility as a whole. On the other hand, those who support Lake Powell are just as avid and active in their defense of the reservoir. One of the former, Edward Abbey, sets forth his plea, hoping it does not fall upon deaf ears. Abbey attempts in his article to help the reader visualize Glen Canyon before it was dammed up. But it is no longer a wilderness (146) Were we to reverse the order and take out the connotations, it would be a great statement supporting Lake Powell. Certainly it is no longer a wilderness, but it has a photogenic backdrop of buttes and mesas, projecting above the expansive surface of waters where the speedboats, houseboats and cabin cruisers play. One rhetorical strategy he uses fairly well is the omission of details. I will be the first to admit that the creating of any reservoir will kill any life that it floods out, which is obvious, but in this case I believe that the pros far outweigh the cons. Abbey used omission of details to make it seem that the reservoir had killed all wildlife in that area and desolated the environment, saying that after draining the dam, plant life will come back, [w]ith the renewal of plant life will come the insects, the birds, the lizards, and snakes, the mammals. However, Lake Powell is teeming with life. According to the Lake Powell website, it is home to over 170 species of birds, 800 different mammals and more that a dozen reptile species (Lake Powell). The 1950 s were in fact the turning point of change. `The Mattachine Foundation , later re named `The Mattachine Society , was one of the earliest gay organisations set up by Harry Hay in 1950. It s aim was to raise consciousness among gay men, challenge anti gay discrimination and build a positive homosexual community and culture. This proved nothing less than an arduous struggle with much opposition, illustrated by the infamous `Stonewall night. A night that set America alight with gay rights and conflicts. The name `Mattachine was meant to symbolise that fact that gays were a masked people, unknown and anonymous. This illustrates the traditional 1950 s attitude towards homosexuality; the problem was thought to cease to exist if ignored.
