We Choose To Go To The Moon And Barrack Obama s Speech On...
When choosing the speeches We Choose to go to the Moon and Barrack Obama s speech on same
sex marriage, there was a running theme of exhilaration, excitement and pride within the two
speeches. Without even truly knowing of the two speeches one can analyze by the meaning of the
speeches they are speeches that are meant to insight the country with such invigoration over a topic
that the emotion could be felt through by the words spoken. However, both events come from
entirely different time periods within entirely different social and political topics, and both speeches
even with coming off with similar emotions are presented in alternative ways. Semantics is the
study of wordconstruction and the ability to understand a word s meaning. Applying this study and
its concepts to John F. Kennedy s speechgiven at Rice University and Former President Barrack
Obama s speech on same sex marriage becomes a key to form an analysis on the two speeches.
Kennedy s speech at Rice University discusses the space exploration, specifically to the moon, the
choice of words within the speech make the speech animated using word understanding.
Within the speech, itself one of the many semantic features that can be found are the multiple noun
classes that Kennedy uses to create emphasis on what he is speaking about. In the sentence, The
exploration of space will go ahead, whether we join in it or not, and it is one of the great
adventures of all time... one can notice the way concrete and

The Dangers of Overusing Computers
Computers have been around for many years and have helped our society grow and communicate
with each other from long distance. According to Claudia Miclaus from The Harmful Influence of
the Computer, computers are commonly used everywhere such as in school, at home, businesses
and so on (Miclaus 1). Though the computeris very helpful to our society, computers can actually
cause mental and physical healthproblems as well as social disorders. Most people that use a
computer often are in danger of risky serious mental and physical health. Computers can cause
major mental health problems such as anxiety. Miclaus states that most people that often use
computers often have anxiety, low energy, emotional instability, and lack of work efficiency (2).
Emotional conflict can lead to affecting a person s daily life and the people he or she interacts
with. Most people that suffer from anxiety, depression, or loneliness often go to the computer to
forget their problems they may be facing in their lives. Joanna Saisan, M.S.W., Melinda Smith,
M.A., Lawrence Robinson, and Jeanne Segal Ph.D. from Internet and Computer Addiction quotes,
...too much time online can make things worse (Saisan M.S.W. et al. 2). Most people that over use
computers often have difficultly controlling their emotions. Computers can also lead to physical
health problems such as strains on muscles and the risk of obesity. Tina Sieber from 5 Reasons

High price is the major weakness of Apple because there is a strong completion in market now,
and the consumer of Apple products can easily obtain the similar function products by its
competitors in a lower price. Decreasing market share can be caused to less influence its
customers to using closed ecosystem of Apple. Apple Company is often blamed by other
companies to disobeying their patents and also it has lost some trials as well. Such type of things
can damage Apple s reputation in market. In 2012, Tim Cook became a new CEO after the death
of Steve Jobs, which was the biggest loss for Apple Company. After some time John Browett and
Scott Forstall left the firm, this posed negative impact on management.
In tech industry, Apple s gross profit margin is highest but according to fear of forecasters that
Apple s current margin will not be continued due to increasing in prices and tough competition.

Richard Eberhart Ground Hog Analysis
Transformation from death to decay creates a newfound awareness. In the Ground Hog, author
Richard Eberhart chronicles the metamorphosis of a dead groundhog. Watching the decomposition
of a dead groundhog suddenly begins to reflect/ mirrors reality. Nature and decay coexist in an
endless cycle. The first line generates a misleading tone of lightness, which immediately shifts
after the second line to dark and gloomy. The speaker s encounters with the dead groundhog shape
his perceptions and emotions surrounding his own mortality. Using the first person point of view
to narrate the piece fosters a closer personal perception. This produces a better understanding of the
speaker s revelations and his mixed feelings. Ironically the speaker first

Compare And Contrast The Reformation And Lutheranism
The reformation is when the church split into the Church of England and Lutheranism. The Church
of England was started by Henry the V111 while Lutheranism, was created by the acts of Martin
Luther a successful reformer. Both churches had their many differences and similarities but the
reformation was when people were being tortured for their religion and had to buy their way out of
Purgatory with indulgences, and the bible did not say anything about indulgences or purgatory, plus
the bible should have been the overall ruler not the pope. Luther saw these corruptions and started
Lutheranism. Lutheranism started when he became a monk after giving his life to God and he
began to read the bible. He saw that the acts of the pope and church did not match the bible. He
decided to try and reform the church and rid it of its corruption. He started by making the 95
theses that showed all the problems with the church and he nailed them to the church door. He was
considered as a heretic and Prince Fredrick kept him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another difference between them would be that the Church of England dissolved missionaries to
confiscate the wealth and put bibles in all the hands of the people while Luther put a stop the the
relics, indulgences, and the popes wealth. Lastly, they were not the same since the Church of
England started for selfish reasons and Lutheranism started with the fact that church was corrupted
and needed adjustments. That is why the Church of England was different from many other
Protestant sects established during the

How Does America s Current Food Economy
How does America s current food economy almost force consumers to partake in dangerous food
practices?
Word Count: 1118
The food economy in America has gone through numerous and substantial changes during the past
couple decades. The changes, although economically beneficial for America as a whole, are
becoming a detriment to the health of our society. Perhaps the biggest innovation is the rise of fast
food culture. The mass fast food monopoly is growing more and more every day, and with the aid
of the government in forms of subsidies, the food culture of the United States is being run by
big business. Corporate enterprises are moving in to take advantage of the American food market
(Campbell). This shift in the food economy has come to be accepted as the norm, and so the
average American consumer is being exposed to the dangers of fast food. Americans are finding it
harder and harder to eat healthy. Fast food is causing diseases and deaths to skyrocket, and the
happiness level of America is plummeting, all because of ignorance and the greed of big business.
The fast foot culture that America has delved into is exponentially increases, and affecting many
economical facets when it comes to food in the United States. Fast food has had an enormous
impact not only on our eating habits but on our economy, our culture, and our values (Spake).
Only $6 billion total was spent on fast food in the 1970s, compared to the $110,000 billion plus
being spent on fast food today.

Drug And Substance Abuse In The LGBT Community
Addiction is a complex and progressive disease that can affect anyone at any time in their lives. No
matter your race, sex, and cultural background, substance abuse can be a destroyer of lives. While
drug and alcohol abuse presents many challenges for any demographic group, the LGBT
community has experienced substance abuserates that are higher than any other group. It is
important to look at the extent of addictionin the LGBT community. It is also important that we
look at how those within the LGBT community can find the treatment and supports they need to
become clean and sober.
Substance abuse refers to any continued pathological use of a medication, non medically indicated
drug. Substance abuse is likely to be diagnosed among people who have just started taking drugs
and is often seen as an early symptom of substance dependence. However, substance dependence
can show without substance abuse, and substance abuse can last for long periods of time without a
turning into substance dependence. Substances that are abused are, but not limited to, alcohol,
tobacco, and other drugs for varied reasons. Due to the substance abuse our society pays a
significant cost. The result from this abuse is seen in hospitals through direct damage to health and
its link to physical trauma. Jails also see the cost of substance abuse with a daily tally that has a
strong connection between crime and drug dependence and abuse. Substance abuse also can cause
social consequences, which are

Horse Slaughter
Horse Slaughter
The topic of horse slaughter doesn t usually come up very often in everyday conversation. Horse
slaughter is more of an implicit subject, which your everyday person doesn t know much about.
Because it is highly controversial, it has gone through the cycle of being banded and then reinstated
twice in the last 5 years. With being involved in the horse industry my entire life, I have witnessed
the effects first hand. Some people see it as killing pets, animal cruelty, and morally wrong.
However, I see it as a source of income, a way to stop the starvation and abuse of horses, an export
industry for the United States, as well as a quality meal for in times of despair. The history of
people eating horse meat dates back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1930 s low supply and high cost of pork and beef made horse meat rise in popularity.
Again during World War II, people were again in the same predicament. Inflation during the early
1970 s raised the cost of traditional meats; Time Magazine reported from Carlson s, a butcher
shop in Westbrook, CT, that they were selling over 6,000 pounds of horse meat a day. (Weil) In
2006, the House of Representatives voted to end horse slaughter; the bill passed to make the killing
and selling American horses for human consumption an illegal practice in the United States.
Today in the US, people do not consume horse meat on a whole sale basis. But because many
other counties do, the exporting of horse meat is a huge industry. When the ban was in place,
US horses were being transported to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered instead. From 2006 to
2010 the increase in horses being exported to Canada and Mexico was 148 and 660 percent.
They are loaded up on trailers and shipped across the boarders, often times going days without
food or water until they reach their destination. The regulations, or lack thereof, are different
than in the US. (Shesgreen) Valley Meat Co. owner Rick De Los Santos brings up valid points
in his interview with NBC News last week. The majority of people, who are against slaughter, are
getting caught up on the ick factor of killing our pets . However, the process is the exact same for
cows and pigs.

Theme Of Nobility In Julius Caesar
The Noblest of Rome
How could one determine whether a man is noble or not? How could one judge the extent of
someone s nobility? Throughout history, there are plenty of stories where the nobility of men have
been tested. William Shakespeare is known for writing stories where the nobility of men is heavily
tested. In Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, there are plenty of men who love Rome and would do
anything for the goodness of Rome. Caesar was willing to give up lots of his money for the
Roman citizens. Brutus killed his best friend because he felt that he was doing good for
Rome. But Antony is the noblest of them all because he avenges Caesar s death, he stays loyal to

However, as he is expressing his feelings to Antony, Antony states, Fear him not, Caesar; he s not
dangerous; He is a noble Roman, and well given (Shakespeare 9). Even though Cassius does turn
out to be behind the plot to assassinate Caesar, Antony views him as a noble man.
Antony sees when someone s intentions are good, even if they have a bad plan of action. Antony is
able to recognize nobility in men even if they have committed treacherous deeds.
Antony shows his nobility by avenging the death of Caesar, staying loyal to Caesar all the time,
and being able to recognize the nobility within a man, even if he is his enemy. Antony is able to
follow through and avenge Caesar s death by convincing the people of Rome that Brutus is not
all honorable and that Caesar did not deserve to die, which allows for the civil war to begin and
ultimately kills Brutus. Antony is loyal from the beginning of the play and after Caesar s death.
Antony will do anything for Caesar while he was alive and continues to take care of his name
after his death. Even though Brutus is Antony s enemy for killing Caesar, he still as the ability to
see that Brutus killed Caesar because he believed it was the right thing for Rome

Who can understand modern warfare?
War has without a doubt changed extremely from what the term originally meant. Waris already
hard to define, according to Clausewitz, war is an act of force intended to compel our opponents to
fulfil our will... a continuation of political intercourse with a mixture of other means (Michael
Sheehan, 2014, 217). More specifically, war was between countries/states and it involved open
armed conflict. But war cannot be defined like this anymore in our modern times.
With open conflict between nations and non nation organizations, for example the War on
Terrorism, the definition above is no longer fully true. A better definition would be Hedley Bull s,
organised violence carried on by political units against each other (Michael Sheehan, 2014, 218).
Thus if the definition of war and how it s waged in the 21st century changed, theoretical approaches
best suited conceptually and analytically that can explain and understand modern war has also
changed.
Ironically, the theoretical approaches that seem to be best suited to understand and explain modern
war are two of the oldest theoretical theories; Realism and Liberalism. But which of these two is
more applicable; both have their strengths in relation to understanding and explaining modern
conflict, but Liberalism is bar

My First Broken Heart Of Love
It is true love can become atrocious and unbearable. It happens too many times than it should
happen. I have experienced the beauty of love and also the tragic of love. I was barely a
teenager and I thought I was in love with this boy. His name was Noah. I should emphasize on
the past tense was because it s apart of the tragedy. Noah and I were best friends for two years.
We met each other in 7th grade. He had moved to Maryland from Texas with his father, step
mother, step brother, and dog. Our relationship bloomed like a gorgeous rose then withered and
eventually died. I was barely a teenager and I experienced my first broken heart. Lovesucks.
At first, when I saw the new kid in my math class, I thought that he would have a hard time fitting
it. The first thing anyone would notice about this kid was how incredibly thin he was. He was
severely underweight and looked very anorexic. The second thing you would notice about this
kid is his protruding front teeth. His front teeth and comical ears made him looked like a rat. I
knew this kid would get picked on immediately. Unfortunately, it did happen, by an overweight
kid. The overweight name was Garrett. Surprisingly, Noah and Garrett became friends. Since
Garrett was friends with one of my friends, he introduced Noah to our group of friends. That s
how our relationship started. Noah was also in my gym class along with math. We were always
partners in gym because we were not athletic. We officially became friends when we

Views from the DG Dollar Generals (DGs) are popping up left and right. DGs are now in our

store is stocked and ready for business. I used to see DGs as where sorry people worked because
overtime, people get lazy and let the DGs go and make it look almost impossible to get it back
looking nice again. But that was until my buddies and I started working at the new DG in Ino.
We are all there to make money to have for gas, keep girlfriends happy (which seems almost
impossible to do), and other expenses. We are determined to keep our DG up and running great
with no dirty isles, no items stuck behind others, and no rude employees. DollarGeneral is the place

into the doors of that particular business to work for. If you have a store with employees working
for you and they are not trained, they won t have a clue what tasks they are there to complete.

Universal Truth In Times Of Hardship
I feel this quote is a universal truth in times of hardship. As each of us goes about our daily lives,
it is easy to forget the things that we normally take for granted. Every luxury, benefit, and
relationship goes unnoticed until an event makes us realize how fortunate we are to have all of
these things. This quote personally resonated with me when I reflect on the situations that I
underwent this summer. I can attest to the truth in this quote with multiple instances of this same
recognition. I never realized the extent of my own blessings until they were taken away from me.
This summer when I lost my grandpa and my dog in a matter of two weeks, it took me a while to
comprehend the magnitude. Going about the days following, I began to realize

Introduction
The presence of natural resources in a country is supposed to a positive addition towards realizing
development goals. Both economic and social development is supposed to benefit from
approximated revenues that are to be generated from mining industries. However, the views that
natural resources are a major source of economic and social growth has been scrutinized over the
past decade, with the rising number of countries where resources expectations have not been met
having contributed to these reviews (Collier). These reviews have led to the emergence of two
major views with regards to the relationship that exist between natural resources and general
national development. These views are; the conventional view and the alternative view. The
conventional view holds that there still exist a positive relationship between natural resources and
growth while the alternative view uses the examples of countries where growth has declined or
stalled after discovery of natural resources. The alternative describes what is regarded as the
resources curse (Davis). This discussion paper will discuss the relationship that exists between
natural resources, governance and national growth. In doing this, North Korea will be used a case
study while seeking to identify the resources that are found in the country, their status and the
avenues through which the resource curse can be avoided. The cases on the OT mining in

New York Survey Data Paper
New York Survey Data
Sampling is a method by which one can gain an estimation of accuracy for population (Jaggia
Kelly, 2014). Surveying is a form of sampling which is often used to provide an estimate. A
survey was conducted on a group of people living in New York City which consisted of 445
randomly selected people from multiple boroughs on a monthly basis for six months. The survey
focused on the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island.
Additionally, demographic information was collected, including level of education and marital
status. This paper will provide the results of the survey as well as their accuracy of the estimates in
order for the New York City governmental agency personnel.
Statistical Calculations and Analysis
The survey data was analyzed to provide a variety of statistics, including:
The point estimate and 95% confidence interval for each borough
The 95% confidence interval to estimate a population proportion of doctoral degrees
The 95% confidence interval to estimate a population proportion of single or other marital status

In the case of this survey, the New York City governmental agency personnel needs sample sizefor

In order to gain a 0.05 margin of error, all sample sizes must be increased, however each borough

Start from the peg that is to the left of the anchor peg. Push the hook under the two bottom strands
of the yarn and pull it up over the top strands of the yarn. The groove in the beg is very helpful for
this process. Now loop the bottom yarn over all around the loom. To continue knitting, wrap
around all the pegs again from the begging on the beg right above the anchor peg and then bring
the bottom yarn loop over the top of the peg again. Once there is about an inch or two of stitches
done, take the yarn of the anchor peg so that it is not pulling as the project is continued. About
fifteen rows need to be knitted to continue to the next step.
Step 5: Knitting the brim
After knitting a few rows, fold them over so there is a doubled over bit of knitting. This makes
the hat look more finished and also helps keep the hat in place on the head. To knit the brim,
bring up the tail from the initial part of the hat and loop it around to the right of the anchor peg.
Put the loops all the way around the loom then finish the brim by using the hook to loop the pull

Comparing Picasso And Van Gogh
In this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting artists Pablo Picasso and Van Gogh, considering
their intentions with their artwork. Van Gogh and Picasso two of the most famous artists out there
and still are to this day. Uncountable books have been published and dedicated to them and their
lives and careers of being true artist. Their art has changed the way people view things and the
world around them.
Vincent van Gogh was one of many artists who self taught himself, who transformed the appearance
of Post Impressionism incessantly. His main focuses were his paintings, which he mostly painted in
oil mediums. In his time, he has produced lot of paintings, most of which were of cityscapes, figure
and landscape scenery. Unlike Pablo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The painting shows five women naked with flat figures, disintegrated planes and faces, inspired
by African masks. The compacted space the figures occupy appears to project forward in jagged
shards; a fiercely pointed slice of melon in the still life of fruit at the bottom of the composition
teeters on an impossibly upturned table top. In this painting, Picasso makes a radical departure
from traditional European painting by adaptation of Primitivism and abandonment of perspective in
goodwill of a level two dimensional picture of a plane.
On the other hand, Vincent van Gogh did not do any cubism work during his time as an artist,
however, had more of an interest in drawing. Pablo Picasso had an interest in drawing too, but
unlike his work, Vincent van Gogh s drawings are appreciated without the need for bright
colours, drawings such as his depiction of figures, light and landscape. Van Gogh drew using a
lot of different media, such as chalks, red pen and charcoal, although he often mixed mediums as
well when it came to drawing. He drew on not just paper, but a variety of paper types, and
materials. However, Van Gogh s methods of drawing are very different to Pablo Picasso s.
Pablo Picasso s way of drawing can be seen as very different and rather similar at the same time
compared to Vincent Van Gogh s method. Drawing allowed van Gogh to capture light and images
more quickly than with painting and

The Role Of Privateers In The Golden Age Of Piracy
In the Golden Age of Piracy between the 16th and 17th century, the majority of pirates sailed
under letters of marque which gave legal authorization to raid ships from other nations. English
seamen were allowed to seize Spanish ships and sell their prizes at port. If England and Spain were
at peace however, privateers would be forced to get letters of marque from other countries. Letters
of marque gave pirates a way to bypass outright piracyand instead raid under a host nation.
Using the broad definition of piracy the indiscriminate taking of property (or persons) with
violence on or by descent from the seas includes privateers. It was therefore very difficult to rid
the seas of pirates because privateers would be acting on behalf of the

The Grafin von Schonfeld with her Daughter by Elizabeth Louise Vigee LeBrun
In the University Of Arizona Museum Of Art, the Pfeiffer Gallery is displaying many art pieces
of oil on canvas paintings. These paintings are mostly portraits of people, both famous and not.
They are painted by a variety of artists of European decent and American decent between the mid
1700 s and the early 1900 s. The painting by Elizabeth Louise Vigee Lebrun caught my eye and
drew me in to look closely at its composition.
The Grafin von Scholfeld with her Daughter is oil on canvas art piece painted in 1793. It is a

The little girl s dress gives the texture of lightness and seems like airy fabric that would be thin
and translucent. The time in this piece is very accurate of the late 1700 s and when viewing it, the
time seems classic. The emphasis of this piece is mainly the mother and the daughter, however
when looking at them you are drawn into looking at their realistic eyes. The eyes seem like the
focal point which draws the viewer in to the picture.
The relationship in the painting between the mother and daughter give it a definite asymmetrical
balance and maybe a little radial balance. A radial balance because of their eyes being the central
focus, then the faces, then the holding of each other, then where they are placed on the canvas, and
then the bench and the landscape. The colors used by the painter, also creates balance with in the
picture. The wine colored dress of the mother, red sash of the daughter s dress, ruby lips, and the
rosy cheeks give a warm feeling to the central focus of the mother and daughter. The cool color of
the sky is the same as the women s eyes as well as the trees and green on the mother s dress. These
balances give unity or a unifying feeling to the painting, especially between the mother and
daughter.
The idea of this piece is to show the connection between mother and daughter being painted. It
shows the time and the classic style of the

The Stereotypes Of Crime In Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens
From the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, London was a metropolis
with a high crime rate. From 1745 to 1820, there were 115,000 people who made their living by
burglary, prostitution, swindle and other criminal acts. It is horrible when we know that the total
population of London at that time was just 960,000.
Presumably there was no other novelist in Victoria era that had such a strong concern about crime,
and incorporated so much description of crime in his works as Charles Dickens (1812 1870) did.
Oliver Twist was the second novel of Dickens published in a serial form in a magazine titled

Cool Hand Luke s Relationship
There are many movies that make the contrast of the lives of prisoners and their guards. So often
do we see a colorful group of people who struggle under the control of a tyrannical leader,
struggling to keep both their spirits and sanity up. Cool Hand Luke is not an exception to these
films. However, it does contain a main character with a nonchalant type attitude that irks his
superiors and earns respect from his fellow prisoners, which is not often seen. This leads to him
becoming a very popular character in the prison, specifically to his new admirer Dragline. Dragline
the former head honcho among the prisoners grew quite fond of Luke due to his admiration for

we see that Dragline s core belief is that he should stay within the laws of the captain he breaks

4. Made To The Proper Promisee The tender has to be made to the proper promisee. Tender made
to an authorised agent would be valid but tender made to a stranger would obviously be invalid. 5.
Reasonable Opportunity It should be provided to the promisee to inspect the quality and quantity of
the type of goods agreed upon and to satisfy himself that they are according to the terms of the
contract.
Two more essentials can also be considered :
6. Person Giving Tender Must be Willing to Perform The person giving the tender must be
willing and capable to perform the whole of what he was bound by the contract to do. 7. Tender
Of Money Tender of money should always be made in the legal tender money and not in any other
form
If these essentials are fulfilled then one can safely conclude that a tender of performance has been
made.
Once the promisor makes a valid tender of performance, it is then for the promisee to accept the
performance. If the tender of performance is rejected by the other party, the promisor is not
responsible for non performance and is entitled to sue the promise for breach of the contract.
Relevance In Indian Contract Law
The Indian Contract Act, 1872, recognises tender of performance and its important role in Contract
Law. Section 38 mentions situations when tender of performance is not accepted by the promisee.
It states

The Mountains Of The Rocky Mountains
The Rocky Mountains, also known as the Rockies, extends for some 3,000 miles (4,800 km), that
covers land in two North American countries! With a distance of 3,000 miles, the Rockies must
have a variety of physical features and landscapes that makes it an attractive area to tour and
explore. However, all of the human interest in this mountain range could come at a devastating cost.
Disturbances such as resource extraction, tourism/settlement, and farming in the Rocky Mountain
region must cease because they are causing major, irreversible environmental degradation.
The Rocky Mountains contain many resources, like oil, logs, and coal, that people utilize in their
daily lives. With such a high demand for these resources, people are going to the Rocky
Mountains to extract these valuable goods. Resource extraction, such as logging, oil
exploration, and mining, however, is extremely harmful to the Rockies ecosystem. The Rocky
Mountains are experiencing slope erosion where the top layer of soil falls off usually into areas
of water and according to Armand Eardley, from Encyclopedia Britannica, Logging and oil
exploration have been responsible for accelerated slope erosion, both from operations themselves
and from the access roads built to reach them. Erosion has stripped away the often thin soil cover
and caused serious silting of streams. Erosion is harmful because it leads to this serious silting of
streams. According to the National Geographic, Silt is a solid, dust like

Conventional wisdom teaches us that decisive leadership drives great business. An elite group of

Was Claudius An Effective Ruler
In this essay we are going to discuss whether Claudius was an effective ruler. In order to achieve
an answer to this, we will also discuss how he governed his empire and how he went about
administrating laws and provinces.
To start with, however, it is best to briefly introduce Claudius before he became emperor. This will
help us to understnad his situation and how past events effected his ruling.
Claudius was the great nephew of Augustus, and so was part of the most important family in rome
at the time. From a young age Claudius was physically and mentally challenged, and due to this he

With this Claudius appointed freemen to certain secretarial offices, however, he wasn t the first
emperor to do so, augustus before him also found it better to work through permanant non
senatorial officials than through senatorial magistrates. Although Claudius and augustus are similar
in the way they appointed their officials, there is one major difference, this being that Claudius
allowed his officials, freedmen, to influence him. Now straight away we can see how this would
have angered the senate, because they had gone through the correct path on the Cursus Honourum,
where as these freedmen were just given powerful positions by giving his most important tasks to
his freedmen, this ensured the emperoros independence of both senate and the equestrian order. It
also seems, with the dominant influence the freedmen had on Claudius, that many acts and
judgements weren t his own, they were dictated by his wives and freedmen, he practically
always obeyed their whims rather than his own judgement. Subsequently, we can say that
Claudius looked as though he was a mere puppet, and the real rulers were his wives and
freedmen. Claudius fell so deeply under the influence of these freedmen and wives that he seemed
to be their servant rather than their emperor. This is also a good reason as to why many acts put
forth were in favour of the population of rome, because these freedmen were of such low

are being treated, but does not say anything. He then briefly notices the atmosphere of the jail

taking part in the actions as the rest of the guards it shows the readers that he is scared of the
capitalist punishment that will occur if he ever goes against it. An example of this is shown
towards the end of the essay after the hanging: We all had a drink together, native and European
alike, quite amicably. The dead man was a hundred yards away. (Orwell, 3) The narrator is trying to
explain how the community in the jail yard have all realized the crazy behaviour of taking someone

The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross Essay
The Painted Door, by Sinclair Ross published in New York in 1941. Is isolation the enemy of our
improvement, or is our worst possible counselor? The letter i in illness is isolation, it is a feeling
through which a person feels and has thoughts about being rejected by others, which leads us to
the conclusion that being in that state of mind leads a person in the company of our worst
enemy, the one within ourselves. Being Isolated from John was the loneliness Ann had felt
which made her feels like it was forced upon her, like a punishment. Wisdom and Knowledge are
related to the painted door as Ann experiences loneliness and isolation from her husband John
since he is occupied with work all day. Pay no attention to me. Seven years a farmer s wife it s
time was used to staying alone. John leaves, trusting both Ann and Steven to have a friendly game

sight of that John rushes out and freezes himself to death. Ann now will have to use her wisdom
through her knowledge and experience to face her, even more, loneliness and isolated future
without john. Sinclair believes that Isolation will test and perhaps divide relationships. We all have
current times when things don t run the way we imagine them to run, our relationships seem to
break apart due to varies reason, it may be that we are distracted by certain issues or that we have a

Rhetorical Analysis Of 1984 By George Orwell
In this excerpt from 1984, by George Orwell, Winston Smith, a worker for the ministry of truth,
has been caught for committing a thought crime and is being taken to room 101 for
punishment. During the passage, Smith desperately tries to escape his punishment. Through the
use of rhetorical devices such as repetition, imagery, and details, the tone of urgency is revealed
In the excerpt, Orwell uses the rhetorical device of repetition in order to create suspense. For
example, right before the rats are going to attack, Winston says, Do it to Julia! Do it to Julia!
Not me! Julia! I don t care what you do to her. Tear her face off, strip her to the bones. Not me!
Julia! Not me! The repetitive screams for help from Winston reveals the tone as he is frantically

Luther saw these corruptions and started Lutheranism. Lutheranism started when he became a monk after giving his life to God and he began to read the bible. He saw that the acts of the pope and church did not match the bible. He decided to try and reform the church and rid it of its corruption. Word Count: 1118 The food economy in America has gone through numerous and substantial changes during the past couple decades. The changes, although economically beneficial for America as a whole, are becoming a detriment to the health of our society. Perhaps the biggest innovation is the rise of fast food culture. The mass fast food monopoly is growing more and more every day, and with the aid of the government in forms of subsidies, the food culture of the United States is being run by big business. Corporate enterprises are moving in to take advantage of the American food market (Campbell). This shift in the food economy has come to be accepted as the norm, and so the average American consumer is being exposed to the dangers of fast food. Americans are finding it harder and harder to eat healthy. Fast food is causing diseases and deaths to skyrocket, and the happiness level of America is plummeting, all because of ignorance and the greed of big business. The fast foot culture that America has delved into is exponentially increases, and affecting many economical facets when it comes to food in the United States. The Nature Of Armed Conflict The nature of armed conflict in the 21st century Josh Camara 1227345 Pol 2I03 Dr. Mark Busser Friday November 7, 2014 Pol 2I03 Josh camara 1227345 2014 11 05 Who can understand modern warfare? War has without a doubt changed extremely from what the term originally meant. Waris already hard to define, according to Clausewitz, war is an act of force intended to compel our opponents to fulfil our will... a continuation of political intercourse with a mixture of other means (Michael Sheehan, 2014, 217). More specifically, war was between countries/states and it involved open armed conflict. But war cannot be defined like this anymore in our modern times. With open conflict between nations and non nation organizations, for example the War on Terrorism, the definition above is no longer fully true. A better definition would be Hedley Bull s, organised violence carried on by political units against each other (Michael Sheehan, 2014, 218). Thus if the definition of war and how it s waged in the 21st century changed, theoretical approaches best suited conceptually and analytically that can explain and understand modern war has also changed. Ironically, the theoretical approaches that seem to be best suited to understand and explain modern war are two of the oldest theoretical theories; Realism and Liberalism. But which of these two is more applicable; both have their strengths in relation to understanding and explaining modern conflict, but Liberalism is bar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Presence Of Natural Resources Name Institution Course Unit Lecturer Date Introduction The presence of natural resources in a country is supposed to a positive addition towards realizing development goals. Both economic and social development is supposed to benefit from approximated revenues that are to be generated from mining industries. However, the views that natural resources are a major source of economic and social growth has been scrutinized over the past decade, with the rising number of countries where resources expectations have not been met having contributed to these reviews (Collier). These reviews have led to the emergence of two major views with regards to the relationship that exist between natural resources and general national development. These views are; the conventional view and the alternative view. The conventional view holds that there still exist a positive relationship between natural resources and growth while the alternative view uses the examples of countries where growth has declined or stalled after discovery of natural resources. The alternative describes what is regarded as the resources curse (Davis). This discussion paper will discuss the relationship that exists between natural resources, governance and national growth. Their art has changed the way people view things and the world around them. Vincent van Gogh was one of many artists who self taught himself, who transformed the appearance of Post Impressionism incessantly. In this painting, Picasso makes a radical departure from traditional European painting by adaptation of Primitivism and abandonment of perspective in goodwill of a level two dimensional picture of a plane. On the other hand, Vincent van Gogh did not do any cubism work during his time as an artist, however, had more of an interest in drawing. The time in this piece is very accurate of the late 1700 s and when viewing it, the time seems classic. The emphasis of this piece is mainly the mother and the daughter, however when looking at them you are drawn into looking at their realistic eyes. The eyes seem like the focal point which draws the viewer in to the picture. The relationship in the painting between the mother and daughter give it a definite asymmetrical balance and maybe a little radial balance. A radial balance because of their eyes being the central focus, then the faces, then the holding of each other, then where they are placed on the canvas, and then the bench and the landscape. The colors used by the painter, also creates balance with in the picture. The wine colored dress of the mother, red sash of the daughter s dress, ruby lips, and the rosy cheeks give a warm feeling to the central focus of the mother and daughter. • 28. The Stereotypes Of Crime In Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens From the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, London was a metropolis with a high crime rate. From 1745 to 1820, there were 115,000 people who made their living by burglary, prostitution, swindle and other criminal acts. It is horrible when we know that the total population of London at that time was just 960,000. Presumably there was no other novelist in Victoria era that had such a strong concern about crime, and incorporated so much description of crime in his works as Charles Dickens (1812 1870) did. So often do we see a colorful group of people who struggle under the control of a tyrannical leader, struggling to keep both their spirits and sanity up. Cool Hand Luke is not an exception to these films. However, it does contain a main character with a nonchalant type attitude that irks his superiors and earns respect from his fellow prisoners, which is not often seen. This leads to him becoming a very popular character in the prison, specifically to his new admirer Dragline. Dragline also saw this as an opportunity and jumped on the truck as it sped away. Luke and Dragline made it to a river to hide the truck and Dragline talks about how Luke fooled the bosses. Luke replies you can t fool them about something like that, they broke me (Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). Although all through the movie we see that Dragline s core belief is that he should stay within the laws of the captain he breaks these beliefs to escape with Luke (Glavin, 2015a). Two more essentials can also be considered : 6. Person Giving Tender Must be Willing to Perform The person giving the tender must be willing and capable to perform the whole of what he was bound by the contract to do. 7. Tender Of Money Tender of money should always be made in the legal tender money and not in any other form If these essentials are fulfilled then one can safely conclude that a tender of performance has been made. With a distance of 3,000 miles, the Rockies must have a variety of physical features and landscapes that makes it an attractive area to tour and explore. However, all of the human interest in this mountain range could come at a devastating cost. Disturbances such as resource extraction, tourism/settlement, and farming in the Rocky Mountain region must cease because they are causing major, irreversible environmental degradation. The Rocky Mountains contain many resources, like oil, logs, and coal, that people utilize in their daily lives. With such a high demand for these resources, people are going to the Rocky Mountains to extract these valuable goods. Resource extraction, such as logging, oil exploration, and mining, however, is extremely harmful to the Rockies ecosystem. The Rocky Mountains are experiencing slope erosion where the top layer of soil falls off usually into areas of water and according to Armand Eardley, from Encyclopedia Britannica, Logging and oil exploration have been responsible for accelerated slope erosion, both from operations themselves and from the access roads built to reach them. Erosion has stripped away the often thin soil cover and caused serious silting of streams. Erosion is harmful because it leads to this serious silting of streams. An elite group of people must come together to make tough decisions that the majority must follow. Fortunately, it appears that some are challenging this centuries old notion. In order to achieve an answer to this, we will also discuss how he governed his empire and how he went about administrating laws and provinces. To start with, however, it is best to briefly introduce Claudius before he became emperor. This will help us to understnad his situation and how past events effected his ruling. Claudius was the great nephew of Augustus, and so was part of the most important family in rome at the time. With this Claudius appointed freemen to certain secretarial offices, however, he wasn t the first emperor to do so, augustus before him also found it better to work through permanant non senatorial officials than through senatorial magistrates. Although Claudius and augustus are similar in the way they appointed their officials, there is one major difference, this being that Claudius allowed his officials, freedmen, to influence him. Now straight away we can see how this would have angered the senate, because they had gone through the correct path on the Cursus Honourum, where as these freedmen were just given powerful positions by giving his most important tasks to his freedmen, this ensured the emperoros independence of both senate and the equestrian order. It also seems, with the dominant influence the freedmen had on Claudius, that many acts and judgements weren t his own, they were dictated by his wives and freedmen, he practically always obeyed their whims rather than his own judgement. Subsequently, we can say that Claudius looked as though he was a mere puppet, and the real rulers were his wives and freedmen. Claudius fell so deeply under the influence of these freedmen and wives that he seemed to be their servant rather than their emperor. This is also a good reason as to why many acts put forth were in favour of the population of rome, because these freedmen were of such low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The letter i in illness is isolation, it is a feeling through which a person feels and has thoughts about being rejected by others, which leads us to the conclusion that being in that state of mind leads a person in the company of our worst enemy, the one within ourselves. Rhetorical Analysis Of 1984 By George Orwell In this excerpt from 1984, by George Orwell, Winston Smith, a worker for the ministry of truth, has been caught for committing a thought crime and is being taken to room 101 for punishment. During the passage, Smith desperately tries to escape his punishment. Through the use of rhetorical devices such as repetition, imagery, and details, the tone of urgency is revealed In the excerpt, Orwell uses the rhetorical device of repetition in order to create suspense. For example, right before the rats are going to attack, Winston says, Do it to Julia! Do it to Julia! Not me! Julia! I don t care what you do to her. Tear her face off, strip her to the bones. Not me! Julia! Not me! The repetitive screams for help from Winston reveals the tone as he is frantically begging for mercy. Another example of repetition is used is when Orwell writes, To think, to think, even with a split second left to think was the only hope This reveals the tone as it reveals Winston only has a split second to save himself from the rats, and he must be able to think fast in order to do it.... In addition, another example is when the book says Winston heard a succession of shrill cries which appeared to be occurring in the air above his head. But he fought furiously against his panic.
