Hydropower on the Zambezi - Alan Forster (AECOM)Stephen Flood
2015 DHI UK & Ireland Symposium
Hydropower on the Zambezi
Alan Forster (AECOM),
Tuesday 21 April 2015 at 16:20 - 16:40
Alan will talk about the modelling undertaken to support a feasibility study for a hydropower scheme on the Zambezi. The project required a more detailed understanding of the flow regime within the river close to the intake structure. He will describe some of the difficulties encountered whilst developing a 2-dimensional MIKE 21 FM HD model. Alan will identify the acknowledged limitations of the model and explain that it has still proved to be advantageous to the decision process and therefore justified for the project.
During this webinar we are introducing the CHP Bureau, a dashboard for understanding CHP (Combined Heat and Power or Cogeneration) performance data including accumulated savings and ROI.
During the webinar we will be sharing:
- The market potential for CHP
- The barriers to adoption of CHP
- How to plan and operate your CHP in the best way possible
- Our vision for the CHP Bureau
Pat Dunne, Deputy Governor for Compliance at the Irish Prison Service, presents the Exemplar Energy Project at Wheatfield and Cloverhill Prison during the Information Seminar on Energy Performance Contracting, organised by Codema (Dublin's Energy Agency) as part of the EESI2020 project.
Athens City Manager Philip Rodriguez presented an End of Year update hitting the highlights of the FY 2016 budget for the Athens City Council Monday, October 10.

On August 14, 2012, the Project Team presented information to City Council and asked for a resolution to proceed with planning and further environmental review of a proposed site and treatment process for the City’s new wastewater treatment plant. Three alternatives were presented: an MBR plant at the Windjammer Vicinity; an Activated Sludge plant at Crescent Harbor North; and an MBR plant at Crescent Harbor North. After listening to the presentation and considering public comment, City Council voted unanimously on a resolution to move forward with an MBR plant at the Windjammer Vicinity.

Content description:
An insight into some advanced project risk reporting techniques to improve your project risk insights, and a glimpse into some emerging risk reporting.
This session progresses some of the standard project risk reporting such as Probability-Impact Diagrams (PIDs) and Risk Cost Time Phasing, and demonstrate how additional refinement of these, often with information readily available, can immensely improve the insight given.
Some advanced project risk reporting shows powerful techniques to assist in identifying possible gaps in your risk register, compare risk across projects, programmes, and portfolios, and enhancing mitigation measures.
Emerging reporting and techniques, such as Integrated Cost & Schedule Risk Analysis Critical Path Analysis, was also be presented and discussed.

Monitoring Health for the SDGs - Global Health Statistics 2024 - WHOChristina Parmionova
The 2024 World Health Statistics edition reviews more than 50 health-related indicators from the Sustainable Development Goals and WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work. It also highlights the findings from the Global health estimates 2021, notably the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on life expectancy and healthy life expectancy.
Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.Christina Parmionova
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.
