• Role of HVAC engineer depends on the designation and type of company where
engineer is working.
1.Consultant
• Meeting client/Architect.
• Taking drawing from developer or from architect
• Collecting data and Preparing DBR.
• Heat load calculation and depends on load selecting equipment.
• Preparing ducting ,piping layout and taking approval from Architect/developer.
• Preparing tender Document and cost estimation.
• Floating tender to hvac companies.
• Based on received document prepare comparison based on cost and technical data.
• Negotiation with contractor and finalize contractor.
• Give approval to drawing of contractor.
• Solving the problem if any problem coming to site and giving approval to contractor
measurement.
2.Sales and Marketing Engineer
• Meeting potential client , developer, Interior Designer ,architect and consultant.
• You should be up to date from market and competitor.
• Collecting drawing and tender from developer, architect and consultant and giving proper
quote .
• Finalizing project.
3.Service /Maintenance Engineer
• Leading the team of technician.
• Routine checkup of Machine.
• Schedule Preventive maintenance and maintain AMC.
• Maintain Spare.
• Taking action on Breakdown.
4.Planning /Design Engineer
• Leading the team of Draftsman.
• Collecting drawing from sales engineer and doing site serve ,Heat load , equipment selecting.
• Finalizing drain , ducting and piping layout.
• Preparing drawing or helping draftsman to prepare layout.
• Give final drawing to site engineer for execution.
• Planning the scheduling of material by coordinating with purchase and site engineer.
• Appointing sub vender by coordinating with project manager and site executive.
5.Draftman
• Responsibility includes design and AutoCAD drafting of complete HVAC works including air
distribution calculation, duct sizing, duct layout, refrigerant piping, chilled water piping,
diffusers / grill sizing etc. by taking care that plumbing, drainage and fire fighting services
does not get affected.
• At the end of project prepare as built drawing.
6.Site Engineer /Supervisor /Project Engineer
• Taking approved drawing from design team for execution.
• Site Visit .
• Rechecking the drawing as per site condition and inform this to design team.
• Inform client executive if any changes occur at site .
• Coordinating with other services like plumbing, fire and electrical for smooth run of site.
• Schedule work execution.
• Coordinating all the sub vender and checking the quality of material and work.
• Sending daily progress report to client .
• Coordinating with planning and purchase team for material.
• Attend meeting one site and inform the discussed point in meeting to project manager or
planning engineer.
• Raising running bill.
• Testing commissioning.
• Coordinate with design team for as built drawing.
• Taking approval on final measurement.
• Giving training to client executive.
• Handing over Document.
7.PMC(Project Management Consultancy)
• Coordinating with vender ,architect and client regarding design ,safety etc..
• Inspect inward material.
• Check all relevant certificate about material.
• Checking day to day activity at site and have responsibility to complete the project on time.
• Sending progress report to client.
• Testing & commissioning /validating vender measurement.
• Completion and hand over
8.Project Manager
• It is the most senior post in HVAC post and Project managers have the responsibility of the
planning, procurement and execution of a project.
• Managing the Projects till the completion. Preparing all the necessary documents related to
Projects and keeping record of it.
• Work closely with project engineers, site engineers ,vender , technicians etc. Meeting with
architects, consultants regarding the execution of projects.
• Attending Bid Openings and Pre-bid meetings as required to finalizing project by coordinating
with sales person.
