3. Research
• For my research I looked at several existing children's audio books reading
them and listening to the speaker and the way they talk, the strengths of me
doing this aloud me too see what tone of voice I should speak in when reading
my own and it gave me an idea of what language to use. My research also
showed me that I can change the mood or the characteristics of the character
just by the tone of there voice and what language they use, I used this in my
own work making it easier to picture.
• Although my research did help me in my final product there were weaknesses
in my work, but the biggest problem I noticed was the other audio books did
not have many sound effects so I found it hard top make the sounds fit in as
much as I hoped they would. It was the same with the music I struggled to
make the audio of the music and sound effects match my voice in volume.
• I can fix that by speaking louder into the recorder or holding it up to my mouth
like your meant to, this will allow all the different audio clips flow better
together and all sound the same volume.
4. Planning
• In my planning I found the mind map to be the biggest strength it allowed
me to write out the idea I had in my head and make it more possible and
make sense, it also made sure from the start I knew who I was selling to
and how I need to write it and already have the initial idea ready to just
work from. This helped me to just start from the mind map and get on
with it all from there not having to change to much and just add on to it.
• My planning aloud me to find all the sound effects I needed before I
started my final product, this helped save time in making the work.
• But the planning I did also had weaknesses it took up more time planning
then everything else wasting time also meaning I did not finish on time, to
prevent this next time I will put less time spent on the planning and focus
on the main product.
• I believe that to improve my product I could have had an input from my
sister being a member of my target audience, this would have maybe
given me a stronger final product.
5. Time Management
• I do not believe that I did manage my time well because in the end I did
not finish the final product on time, this was my fault for not managing my
time and spending too little time on the work outside of college. The big
issue was with the recording and if had been given more time I could have
recorded them in my spare time and not had too write my script at home.
• But I also do not believe it was all due to my time management I also
struggle at the audio side so it takes me longer to actually finish a piece of
work.
• But if I was given more time I believe I could have improved the script a lot
more making it longer and have several more animals given me more
sound effects, I also would have used my younger sister too help with the
input of the book.
6. Technical Qualities
• One of the products I used In my research was green eggs and ham
another children's audio book written by Dr. Seuss, I used this product too
get a general idea how too write the audio book and what I should
include. The outcome of my product had several similarities and several
differences.
• The similarities of the products were mainly noticeable through the tone
of voice both mine and DR. Seuss spoke in a calm tone using lots of
expression in the language, also both of the audio books had a main
narrative and then other voices for the characters making it obvious who
is speaking.
• The differences of the product were mainly in the way it was wrote and
the sound effects, my product did not use any rhyme and didn’t speak in
rhythm although I think it is a really strong feature to the other audio
book. But the other book had very little sound effects so it was harder to
make a picture in your head and didn’t come to life.
7. Aural Qualities
• I believe to improve my work I could have
made the audio louder, especially in the
narrative. I also think I should have used
sound effects that were not as scary and
realistic since its for kids. I think too improve
my Project I will next time record all the clips
in the same place so they sound the same and
all fit in well together.
8. Audience Appeal
I chose to focus on my audience through the whole process the most due to it
being for children, this meant I had to make sure all the sounds I used the
way I spoke the script and every detail had to be suitable for them and keep it
simple enough too make sense. The script I wrote was my main audience
appeal because I had too make sure the story is simple but keeps them
interested, it had too be suitable too read and make sense too the kids.
I did this by focusing the story on animals and referring to them as Mr and
Mrs too make them have a more human characteristics.
I also made sure all the voices and the main narrative spoke in a soft calm
voice, but also kept the children interested with a variety of voices.
I chose too make the book about animals so that it would appeal to my target
audience more, also it allowed me to use lots of different educational noises
from the real animals this is appealing to both genders from the age range
making my target audience larger.

• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? I agree my audio could have been
made louder
• I agree that I could have had more sound
effects
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback? I think the voice acting was good
for the target audience I chose.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
Looking back on my peer feedback i have several ways too
improve my work, firstly I am going too make sure when recording
next time I will speak into the mic and hold it up to my face. I
would also include several more sound effects and make them
sound suitable for my age groups using less realistic animal noises.
Next time I will also make my script bigger and include more of the
animals making it more educational and hit the target audience
better.
