The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Working Title:
The Escape Room Game
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
My primary target audience is males between the agesof 16 – 24, as this age group usually
has the most appeal in video games and all kinds of gaming in general. . My target
psychographics is Achiever and Belonger as my project is a video game, so it is suitable
for the average person, as well assomeone who is determined / enjoys trying to beat
games because it gives them a task / challenge to complete, as well as advertising the
game to other peers who might also enjoy playing video games. My social status target
group is type B as well as Balanced. These groups, specifically type B, fit the profile of my
target audience as the game is meant to be a form of relaxation for people to play when
they have free time, as well asfor personal entertainment. The game can also be played by
anyone regardless of their achievementsin the real world, and can be used as a form of
escapism. The game is also open to criticism and feedback which is beneficial for the
production of the game and to ensure that the next product produced will be of higher
quality than the last.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have had a lot of experience with Photoshop not just in my spare time, but from LVL2
media too. During LVL2 media, I created a game in the same style as the game I am going to
make for this project so I have a fair amount of experience with pixel animation, aswell as
experience from my production experiments.
As I have already created a game in LVL2 media studies, I think I will be able to create a
higher quality product with more detail and more complex animation for this project thanks
to the experience I have already had. Because of my previous experiences, I think I will be
able to create a lot of my game, especially the backgrounds and setting relatively quickly. I
also think I will be able to add more detail to the animation, even for when the character is
walking, I think I could make the animation more detailed.
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
Synopsis of my project:
My game will feature a main playable character trapped in an abandoned house, where the
only way to escape will be figuring out a code for a locked door. There will be clues hidden
all around the house, once all of the clues have been collected, they will form the
combination for the locked door, in which then the main character will be able to escape
and win the game.
I have researched a lot of different games that I feel have a similar theme to my own. This
includes textures, setting / background design, lighting and concept. The researched has
helped me to decide where I want my game to take place, and has also helped me decide
what colours and lighting techniques I am going to use in my own game to make it feel
more real and dynamic.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/

Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan on going through my final product and annotating different aspects of it. I also plan
to try and get some peer feedback from my project so I can reflect on what other people
think and improve upon that. I plan on annotating things I like about my product, and things
I dislike and what I can improve upon. I will also be comparing my product to existing
products, comparing the similarities and differences.
Evaluating my work alwayshelps me with my next project, as I can find out what worked
and what didn’t work about my last project which gives me an opportunity to improve upon
my next project. It also allows me to talk about what I struggled with in my project, and is
good for getting practice for what I struggled with in case I would have to do it again in the
future. The evaluation also gives me other people’sopinions, which helps me expand upon
my work in the future, as I get to know what people liked and didn’t like about it.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
