Working Title: …
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
My Target Audience would be around the ages of 15-21, would be mixed gender, have a
demographic aimed at those in the C1, C2 and D demographics, and would be aimed at a
Balanced Psychographic (a mixture of the Achievers and Socially Conscious Groups). The basic
yet familiar style that would be shown in my game should be appealing to the age demographic,
especially the older demographic that would be a lot more familiar with the graphics of the 8/16 Bit
Eras. The Gender demographic would be mixed, as the game wouldn’t really have a specific
audience to target with this, unlike an FPS which would be primarily aimed at males, the
demographic would be slightly aimed more towards men, however for the most part it would be
mixed gender. People in the C1, C2 and D demographics would be the people who are most likely
to play this game.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
At this point of the year I feel like my skills in Photoshop should’ve at least developed to the point
where I can at least make a basic game from it, in terms of Video Game Knowledge I should know
enough so that I would be able to see what would work well for development and what either
wouldn’t work or would be unable to be completed with the limited amount of time. The Advergame
that I had developed is also quite similar to this as they were both 2D Platformers, meaning that I
have had some experience with the genre that I’ve picked, which can help when it comes to the
sprite development and the level design.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
The Product that I am going to make is a 2D Platformer, which would essentially be like that of
Mario and Sonic, in that you are basically going through each level trying to get to the goal whilst
navigating your way through traps, enemies and bottomless pits, as well as that there would be a
boss at the end of each stage that you would need to beat before progressing to the next stage. As
I am basing my game on these types of games, I am going to need to research them as well, in
order to find out what had worked well in 2D Platformers, and what didn’t work so well and should
be avoided. As well as this, I will also need to research the different graphic styles of these games
in order to find out which one would be best suited for my own game, whether it would be best
suited as an 8-bit title or a 16-bit title.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
As well as an on-going reflection that would be updated as the production of this video game

would go on, I will also evaluate the game after it’s completed by comparing it to similar products in
order to see what has gone well, and what needed to be improved.
