Working Title:
Rushing robber
Audience:
My target audience will be any gender in the age range 7-14 years old. My product will appeal to
this age range by its quite simplistic concept and its quite vibrant colour. The game is also quite a
youthful idea meaning it will highly interest the younger generation. My product will interest all
genders as any gender can be interested in what they want. However, stereotypically the game will
appeal to males more than females. This is because the game includes a police chase and action
therefore stereotypically appealing to men. My target audience will also be working class people.
This is because the game I’m creating will be free therefore fitting their lifestyle perfectly.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
From the year, so far, I have acquired a range of new skills. First of all, my Photoshop skill base
has highly developed. For example, I can now easily remove background and have a good
understanding of layers. I can also animate different layers very well through the use of the
timeline tool. This skill will be crucial for this project as all the animating used for the game is done
on Photoshop. From the common use of Photoshop, I have also picked up the tween tool. This
feature allows me to make a layer complete a direct movement automatically. This is a very
efficient tool as it allows me to not have to complete this sequence manually.
During the Irn Bru project, I designed and created an adver-game for the product. During this
process, I developed my pixel skills and designing skills. I will now be able to create characters
and objects much easier as my past experience using Photoshop for game design has helped me
pick up different ideas and techniques.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My project is an endless runner game. It will be played from a side view and will include a robber
getting chased by police. The game will include different obstacles to dodge and different bonus’s
like money bags and power ups. I decided to chose the side view format as I believe runners are
best played form this view as it allows the player to view everything around them and any
upcoming power ups or obstacles clearly. This format will also be easier to create on the software I
am using. This will lead to an overall better game as I can concentrate more on the features of the
game instead of how to create the format. I chose to create a police chase as my game because it
will appeal to a large range of people therefore making my audience much larger. It will also be
entertaining s it will have a sense of adrenaline which is always exciting when playing a game.
For research, I will need to research other games which are similar to mine. However, they won’t
be identical. This is because I want to see what techniques and features work well in a range of
different games. From this I can then pick up different techniques used in each game and perhaps
apply some of their skills in my own game. This will overall benefit me as all the features in my
research material will all be effective as all the games will be very successful. This will allow me to
create the best possible game I can.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
Once my product is finished, I plan to evaluate the game that I have created.
