Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have learned how to use a brand-new software that I have never heard of before, and it is
named In Design. I have improved quite a lot when it comes to creating video game
characters in a pixelated art style, which Iโm actually quite passionate about. I am not very
good at using In Design so I will probably rely more heavily on Photoshop for production. I
have also learned how to add more effects to my text and images to make them stand out
more and look more professional. Iโll definitely use more skills when creating my magazine.
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
My overall concept is to make a magazine completely using a pixelated art style, as a
reference to some of the older, classic arcade games such as Pac man, Tetris, space
invaders, centipede and many more. I am going to create my own game, including several
characters and a few backgrounds for the magazine cover and double page spread. I have
some ideasof what I would like my characters to look like, but nothing concrete. Iโll work
on said ideas more. Iโll make a front cover featuring a Masthead, cover lines, images and a
barcode, as well as a double page spread including one or more images from the video
game I will create, an article talking about the plot of said game, several text boxes with
different context (Perhaps quotes from the game), plus perhaps a pull quote. I will need to
research older and newer gaming magazines, especially those that feature articles about
pixelated gamesor older, classic games. This will help me by giving me the general layout
of the pages and how specific things are worded, as well as what the articles mainly focus
on and the kind of imagesand language that is used.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will try to look at my work as unbiased as I possibly can and try to view every part. I will
try to focus both on the posties and the negatives as normally I tend to look more on the
negative side when it comes to my own work.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
