Working Title:
Space Wars
Audience:
My audience is aged between 16 to 21 this means my audience are teenagers, therefore I will
add action and gore to my video game as this will appeal to my age range/audience. The gender is
mostly male, from knowing my audience is male I will make the video game have violence and
action. This means my audience is mostly heterosexual, I will appeal to my audience by maybe
adding a character of the opposite sex. The social status of my audience will be middle
class/upper middle class, as I need them to be able to buy an operating system that will be able to
run the game in the first place. The geodemographic of my audience is in York, therefore I will
know what life style and tendencies my audience has. This means I can base the characters of my
video game with the life style of York, this will make a connection with the audience. The
psychographic of my audience is “balanced” as they are a mixture of achievers and socially
conscious group. My project is going to appeal to the age by making the game relevant and
interesting to this age group. Therefore, I will add in mature themes into my game to make them
wanting to play more. My audience is mostly male, therefore I will add in violence and action into
my game to appeal to my audience. I will appeal to the middle class by making the game
affordable and runs smoothly on the most recent consoles/phone devices. I will appeal to the
psychographic of my audience by creating a reward system based game that will reward the player
the higher the levels they achieve. I will appeal to the social conscious group by adding in a
communication centre so that they can contact their friends and also play my game.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
The progress I’ve gone through is developing my skills at Photoshop, for example I nearly know all
the tools and what they do. I also know how to animate an object using the Photoshop timeline.
I’ve also learned how to edit my footage using software like adobe. I also know what type of people
like what, for example the “balanced” wants concepts of success and also wants to benefit
mankind. From studying this subject, it makes me want to learn more about the media world and
how I could improve my skills. I have studied other games, therefore I know who to target. I also
learnt my target audience for example their age and the social status of the audience. This will
impact my project be providing me with the necessary information to develop and evolve my
product.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I am going to make a video game about space, the game will consist of a 2 player co-op or single
player. The player has to dodge or destroy asteroids, to earn points therefore at the end of the
video game it will show each other’s score. This will result in making the game competitive, as
players have to compete against each other to achieve a high score. I will also add in lives, so that
its more challenging otherwise having unlimited lives because it will be boring for the player. I will
add in different shapes and sizes of asteroids, therefore it will be surprising and unique to the
player, as it will make the game fresh/new. The research I will be conducting is looking at
templates of similar existing products to mine. This will help me by giving ideas or techniques in
creating my FMP. Doing research on the colour schemes will help my project stand out to the
audience. I will also do research on how to create smooth animations, therefore it will be pleasant
to play the game.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work by comparing it to my experiments to my final product, by doing this I
will realise what parts of my experiments I added in to my final product. I will also self-reflect on my
final product and decide if it went well and what to improve if I did it again.
